Both the driver side and passenger curtain airbags deployed without any impact while the brake was engaged at a stoplight.the airbags did not deflate and were cut down by the paramedics so that i could exit the car.injuries were sustained, bruising, swelling, black eye and burns from the airbag deployment.independent investigators were unable to determine the cause of deployment.currently waiting for jeep to remedy the situation.waiting for a settlement for my jeep, medical, and rental bills so i can purchase another vehicle.

My airbag sensor light started coming off and on as i was driving in december of 2008.i took the car in to the dealer and was told the problem was fixed by the dealer.like clockwork in the winter of 2009 and continuing until today the light is coming off and on constantly (every 3-10 miles).there is no rhyme or reason to it, i can be accelerating, decelerating, at a complete stop etc.besides being annoying i have read that other customers have had the same problem with their jeeps.i have asked jeep customer service to replace the part at no cost to me since i am no longer under warranty but they told me they are unable to do that, and i am unable to afford the $300+ part they need to "fix" this problem once again.

I was driving into the parking lot at walmart and the car actually turned itself off. I coasted into the parking spot and waited a few minutes. I turned the ignition again and the car turned on and then turned back off. I call aaa and they towed the car to ntb. They hooked the car up and stated they couldn't find a problem. They started the car and it started fine. After i left, i got maybe 3 miles down the road and the car turned off. I called ntb and they were ice enough to come to where i was. They were able to start the car; however, as soon as he backed up to turn around the car stalled again. He told me to leave the car, but it's hard to do that when they themselves don't know what's wrong and have no clue as to the cost. We sat for 10 minutes and the car started with no problem. I drove home with no more incidents. For the next 4 days nothing happened. On the 5th day, in traffic on 459n which is heavy and crazy, the car just shut off again almost causing the car behind me, who was too close anyway, to hit me. I pulled over and had the car towed home where it's sitting now. I have gone out to crank it and it turns over, but i'm not driving it. I have an appointment this saturday to take it to a jeep dealership on grants mills way to see if they can find exactly what's wrong wit this deathtrap. After looking at forums online, this is a huge problem. It's not just me.

Check enginelight came on paid $800 dollars to resolve issues, i am still having problems with check engine light. A few sensors(oil, heating etc) were replaced, o2 sensors were replaced. I was told that it could be the vehicle's computer system. This is creating a very serious headache problem. I tried with numerous car repair shops and they don't seem to pinpoint the problem.they check the codes and their response is "it appears that this is whats wrong with it, but there is no warranty, that we can resolve the issues. Issues are happening while driving the vehicle is in motion

The tipm is failing caused me to stall at 70mph on a highway in traffic doors unlocked and then threw all electrical codes

I purchased the vehicle used in april 2016. In june 2016, my headlight stopped working correctly. It would turn on and off on it's own while i was driving. After about 6 weeks of the car being in and out of the shop, due to the light working on it's own and them not having the same experience i was having, they finally see what's been happening and they determined that the tipm failed, and replaced it. Feb 2017, my wipers began turning on and off on their own, or just not working at all. They would go on while i was driving, not shut off when the car was shut off, and at times the switch would not even turn them on when i needed them. I brought the car back to the dealer, and they have again determined that the tipm, which is less than a year old, has again failed. They have not determined what is causing the consistent failure of the tipm, and have had it for a week now.

While in bad weather conditions, wipers totally stopped working. Electrical issue. Car cannot be driven in rain conditions.

The car goes off when it rains, you can start again the car.i took it to the dealer and they never found a problem. It continues to shut off when rains, no all times.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My vehicle started losing power intermittently. It would remain running, but would not respond to acceleration and the electronic throttle control light would flash. At first, this was an intermittent problem, solved by pulling over to the side of the road, turning the car off and restarting it. Eventually, this became an everyday occurrence, until eventually, the car would not even start due to this problem. I had to have it towed to the dealership, and they replaced the throttle body assembly, which solved the problem. I have noticed several recalls for this exact problem for my year and make and model, but the database states that my vin number was not included in the recall. This is a safety issue, as i have had to pull over on the side of the road several times in fast-moving traffic on narrow shoulders.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that after refueling the vehicle and pulling out of the parking lot at 15 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted. The failure recurred after refueling the vehicle. In addition, the contact also stated that there was a fuel odor emitting from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the fuel cap needed to be replaced, the fuel injection system needed to be flushed and a tune up was needed. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. On another occasion, the contact stated that the transmission hesitated to shift gears and was jerking as if it was going to stall. The transmission was replaced on 6/30/13. The failure recurred and it was diagnosed that the oxygen sensors and the o2 harness needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred.the contact stated that the vehicle was taken back to the dealer on 1/14/16 where it was diagnosed that the transmission needed to be replaced again. The vehicle was repaired.the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 131,483.

My 2007 jeep compass was just sitting in the yard not being driven was not hot and it just caught on fire by itself the fire department had to come and assist with put in the fire out the fire chief stated from his investigation that it was electrical problem from the lights and as i said the vehicle was not being operated and the lights was not on

I was trying to pull out of my driveway and it would hardly move forward, or pull ahead back in the driveway. Had it towed to the garage and they looked at it and said its wiring and transmission.

My machanic just told me the tipm is bad and needs replaced! he said it's a common problem that chrysler has tried to hide under the rug!!! i googgled this and you guys refuse toget the isse recalled! my airbags could just deply themselves while i'm driving!!! and you numbnuts don't find that alarming? i'm am going to blast this all over facebook...everyday!!! do your job & get this recalled now!!! or you will see me on the news, pointing my finger at you nhtsa!

Believed to be a faulty ignition switch. Dashboard lights will flash on and off, rpms, speedometer, etc. Will drop to zero, after returning to normal, airbag light will stay illuminated. Key doesn't always read to unlock. Has a couple instances where key would turn and click but car wouldn't turn on when wheel wasn't completely straight.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. While driving at 65 mph, all the lights on the instrument cluster panel failed to function and the headlights dimmed, which diminished the contact's visibility. In addition, two weeks later while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to restart the vehicle. The engine warning light illuminated and fuel cap was displayed on the message board. The windshield wipers also activated independently and the radiator fans continued to function after the key was ejected from the ignition. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 172,000.

Electrical problem. Vehicle without warning lost complete electrical power while driving. The vehicle essentially shut off while driving and at a light. I have to get rid of the vehicle because it presents safety issues.

It was like a ghost took over it scared me to death. My lights started flashing, blinker came on wouldn't go off, wipers were going full speed and the dash where it tells you south, north, east and west stop working. It's something definitely wrong with this car and reading the forums with the same issues should be a recall.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. After refueling the vehicle and driving at a low speed, the vehicle stalled. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. In addition, the passenger side head lamp failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the tipm for the head lamps needed to be replaced. In addition, the front ball joints and struts were corroded and also needed to be replaced. The technician was unable to diagnose why the vehicle stalled. The struts and ball joints were replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 57,000.

The alternator stops working after 90000 miles. You hear a big thumping sound like a tank. You do feel it but, is loud when accelerating and accelerating.

Car engine stalling and impossible to accelerate, took to dealership for a tune up 11//09. Dealer changed couple of plugs but nothing else was needed. 1/10 car towed to dealer. Dashboard lights were acting up, engine started stalling and couldn't accelerate, car simply died in middle of the road. Dealer said it was a bad coil. Asked me if i had washed engine, answer was no. Dealer replaced coil and stated problem was fixed. Car started acting up again. While driving on 1-16 (ga), car would stall, couldn't accelerate, even though pedal was to the car floor. Emergency lights on dashboard acted up, (one of my tires had 10 air pressure, pulled over and tire had 35 air pressure). Same issues than before, i thought car would die in the middle of hwy(7/11/10). Took to dealer 7/14/2010 and contacted chrysler (was assigned a case). Dealer wanted to charge me $75 to run diagnostics, refused to pay, same issue as before. Dealer ran diagnostics free of charge, however chrysler states there is no assurance problem will be covered. This is a serious safety issue, my car could die in the middle of hwy with my two kids inside ,cause a serious accident. I paid for the tune up, car was under warranty first time but nothing was said or fixed then. Problem persists and now car is out of warranty, and i need to pay for the repairs? dealer failed to find problem twice before. Chrysler and dealer should be held accountable for putting my life and my kids life in danger. Also held accountable for not repairing an issue that is very common among these cars of the same year. Recall was issued on speed pedal, but mine never received a letter. I feel very unsecure while driving car. Chrysler states dealer and company are acting in good will by running diagnostics for free. They are manufacturer of car, which has serious safety issues. Dealer failed to repair car twice while under warranty. Act is not good will, its their responsibility!

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. While driving 30 mph, the contact noticed that the engine, emergency brake, four wheel drive unavailable, and collision center indicators illuminated. The dealer (boardwalk jeep, 1 bair island rd, redwood city, ca 94063) stated that they would need to keep the vehicle for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the technician was diagnosing the cause of the failure. The vehicle was kept from august 29, 2017 to november 4, 2017. The contact was informed that there was an electrical failure. The vehicle was repaired, but the engine indicator continued to illuminate. There were no recalls associated with the vehicle. The failure mileage was 3,000.

Check engine light came on, i immediately took it to a local shop, they investigated the cause of the alarm, and discovered that the code had to do with the evaporator system, or something like that, which i think monitors return vapors and has something to do with emission controls.they discovered, after tracing the cause of the air leakage, that the fuel pump module, which is plastic, was burnt and distended due to an overheating fuel pump.this apparatus is at the top of the fuel tank and can be accessed through a "trap door" beneath the second seats.vapor was being emitted at that point.there was never any warning or sounds to indicate the fuel pump was overheating.the fuel pump and fuel module are being replaced and the technicians think this will fix the problem.apparently i was lucky that no vapors ignited because the gas tank probably would have blown up.by going on the internet i have discovered other jeep compass owners have also had this condition happen to them.

On nov. 21 i took my jeep compass to the dealership for repairs. All of the lights on the dashboard were illuminated. The car would not accelerate even though the pedal was all the way down. The car was jerking and acting like it was going to stall. The vehicle was pretty much going crazy. I was advised by the dealership that the diagnostic that the did on the pcm showed that there were computer errors. The dealership said that they had to reset the codes and clear all of the errors and that the problem would be fixed. On 12/11 the same problem occurred again. I took my vehicle back to the dealership and advised them that the same issued occurred again. When i spoke with the dealership they state that they did not know what the problem was and that they had spoken to chrysler and that chrysler stated that they will not do anything until the problems get worst at which point they would be able to diagnosis the problem and find the solution. This is unacceptable because basically they want me and my family to drive around in an unsafe vehicle and wait til the problems gets worst and risk our lives. The car completely shuts down and become erratic. If this were to happen on the freeway many lives would be at risk. Chrysler needs to take responsibility for electrical problem that is going on in my car. As of right now there has been no solution to fix my vehicle.

While driving, i started hearing some bumping underneath my compass and a day later it knock and driving rough. I made it to work and immediately call tow. A day after the tow, i received a call from the repair shop and was told that my sub frame had rusted through and broke. I only had the vehicle for two tears and a few months, and still paying for it. I contacted jeep corp. And was told the was nothing they could do for me. My fidelity warranty states what they cover, but when i contacted them they told me that after five years they deems the bad tie rods as wear & tear. I was never told that when i purchased the service contract. If my prayers aren't heard, then i must pay $2700 out of my pocket.

Going into left hand turn lane to turn left, coasting, stopped at blinking light to turn proceeded and car stalled. This has happened at least 4 times since the last time being a few weeks ago.i called chrysler directly and made a complaint. Had to put the car in park in order to restart the vehicle. Everything just locked up. Date is approximate along with mileage.

Vehicle stalls or will not accelerate, engine runs rough, after filling up tank with gasoline.problem goes away after several minutes of driving.creates a dangerous and safety issue.happens at every time fuel tank is filled.there seems to be many similar complaints on this same issue.nhtsa should investigate.

Stalls after fill up.we do not top off or overfill the tank.everytime we fill the tank up to the automatic shut off, the engine stalls within about 30 seconds.generally, the engine will stall if idling at a stop light after fillup.the engine does not stall if the vehicle is running above 25-30 miles per hour.the engine starts right back up without problem, but will continue to stall.after vehicle has been driven a few miles, the stalling issue disappears entirely.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass.the contact stated that while driving at 45 mph, the engine stalled and the engine warning light illuminated. The vehicle was able to restart. The failure recurred on numerous occasions.the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vin was not available.the approximate failure mileage was 111,000.

Our 2007 jeep compass has been stalling completely (engine shuts off) shortly after we fill up the gas tank. This issue has been occurring for around one year. It has happened while driving or stopped at a traffic light, less than a mile from the gas station, usually within a few minutes of pumping the gas. We fear filling up the tank to the top because the car has stalled in lanes of traffic. In the better cases, it stalls at a red light. This is a dangerous situation. We were encouraged to file this report after corresponding online with other jeep owners who experienced this exact same issue.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle stalled without warning. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the canister purge valve needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 48,555.

2007 jeep compass stalls after refueling. This occurs not only then but about three to four more times while driving down the road after refueling. On two occasions this happen while entering back on to the highway, while trying to accelerate up to speed. This forced me to quickly restart the engine so not to be rear ended from behind by other vehicles. I checked with the dealer who told me to call chrysler and let them know only to find that my vehicle was not on recall.i was told to take my jeep into the dealer to have it fixed and if it was later recalled they would return my money. I do believe that chrysler is risking the safety of the general public just because they are not up to speed with recalling all the effected vehicles as they are informed of the defect. If this is the kind of customer service that chrysler is offering why would anyone want to come back.

I have been experiencing a problem with my car cutting off, especially while stopped at a red light more often than not on local roadways. If it doesn't completely shut off the sensation to cut off is definitely felt. I originally thought it was the spark plugs and had those replaced, however, the situation continues to persist. I have been told on one or more occasions it may be the fuel pump.i was recommended i take my vehicle directly to the dealership.the other issue that is also very pronounced is the noise my engine makes while idling.it can best described as a loud whirling sound but not quite a rattle.i have never heard my car sound so noisy.i have noticed perhaps in the last 6 months the windshield wipers come on involuntarily without me engaging their use.i have searched jeep's website regarding any recall information on these aforementioned issues but to no avail.

I purchased the 2007 jeep with low mileage for my child's first car. Upon the first refuel the car has experienced stalling within a hal mile of refueling. The car was returned to the dealer several times, as well as to the neighborning jeep dealer. Time after time i was advised the issue could not be duplicated. Today upon refueling the car stalled upon leaving the gas station again. There appears to be a significant amount of complaints and research online that i was shocked to learn a recall had not been issued for this extreme safety issue. The stalling occurs at a different time leaving no gas station, at the first moment of idling, after traveling a short distance. This is a safety concern for any driver although extremely so for a newly licensed driver.

After refueling, vehicle starts up and drives as normal for a short time until reaching the first stop or stoplight, at which point the engine returns to idle. The engine will begin to sputter/weaken (full foot on the gas but reacts as if it is only down 1/4 of the way), the oil light turns on, and then subsequently dies while still in drive. This has happened at least 5 times since this first occurred on jan. 31, 2015. Every time it occurs, it is immediately after refueling, despite using different gas stations and brands. First even occurred while i was turning left from a light into another parking lot. (sputter, then died) another event was while i was idling at a red light. (engine completely died) the most recent event occurred while i was driving 45 mph down the road, and it began to sputter and weaken after then making a right hand turn, upon which i pulled the car over in the road, turned the engine off and then back on again. It would have been incredibly dangerous if i had been on a highway.

Every time i fill my jeep up with gas not even 5 secs after i leave the engine turns off. Now the check engine has popped up on my dashboard. I ran a code reader and it found code p0420.

While driving on i-30 at 70 mph, my jeep just died. No warning sign of any kind, just completely shut down, which almost caused several wrecks. I got to the median, waited about 10 minutes, it started and i drove about 20 more miles, then it happened again. This has been going on for about a month, took it to the local mechanic where it was put on the computer, couldn't find anything wrong. I had him (mechanic) keep it till it happened to him. Finally it did, took the fuel pump off and the plug was melted, as well as melted a hole in the fuel pump. He stated he is surprised we didn't blow up. I plan on taking the burned plug & pump to the dodge house on monday, very dangerous vehicle!

Since about november 2011, my 2007 jeep compass has stalled out after refueling when i fill the gas tank.it does not stall out if i do not fill the tank all the way.it has been inspected by two different chrysler dealerships in 2012 and 2014 and both falsely accused me of overfilling the tank.no one has been able to fix the problem.

After filling up my 07 jeep compass not even as i was pulling out of the parking lot the jeep started stuttering and shut off .. It happened multiple times until i got home.while accelerating it would act like it wanted to stall . And while coming to a shop it would cut off. I was almost hit because of this . And i had my disabled daughter in the car. I have read multiple complaints about this & something needs to be done .

Takata recall it cut off on me at the light in traffic andit jerks when it pull i got everything fixed so they told me to get it checked i did its the computer malfunction

We bought our jeep compass in january 2007. Approx. Date for this problem is sept 2011. Our jeep started acting like it was going to stall when stopped at a light or when in motion. At other times, it wouldn't start after multiple attempts. Most times it would start. One day it did not start at all and we decided to take it in to the dealership the next day. That morning, it started, but we still took it in. The engine light was on also. We told them we think its the battery because we had issues with that already (battery replaced in 2010 and again in, i think, 2011, something in the jeep was draining the battery). Long beach ca dealership. I think they charged us a fee to hook it up to the computer, they could not find the problem, and said it was not the battery. They said if it happens again, to bring it back. Over the past year, the stalling increased and the jeep was not starting correctly. Aug 1, 2012, approx. Mileage 104,000,we tried to start our jeep, and it wouldn't start at all. We had it towed to biloxi ms dealership and we told them this had happened before. The engine light was on again and another light i cant remember what it was for. They hooked it up to their computer and it told them it was the fuel pump. They proceeded to start to replace it, but, before they did, they came to us and had us look at the connector switch for the fuel pump. It had melted, had burns on it, and had melted through the pump. Why this is not a safety recall is beyond me when i see others have this same problem! the mechanic said we were lucky this thing had not caught on fire while we were driving it!! and even more disturbing, the fuel pump is located under the backseat! what if we had our grandson with us and it caught fire, or even worse, exploded?anyone with a jeep compass with these problems should have their fuel pumps looked at immediately!

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 25 mph, the vehicle stalled and all the warning lights illuminated. I was driving in my neighborhood then went over a small bump and my car stopped. I lost power steering and all my dashboard lights came on. Once the vehicle stopped i took the key out of the ignition and tried to start it again. I had power but my engine would not turn over. This happens on a daily basis. My car starts when it wants too. I have no control or way of knowing if and when my car will start. I've driven it too and from work, then went to drive it later in the day and my engine will not turn over. I have power but the engine won't turn over. The esp light stays on my dashboard before it starts, if it starts it remains on the entire time while i'm driving. I have taken it to autozone and the ignition switch is something that is a problem. Anyone else having these problems?

I bought a 07 jeep compass from a private dealership less than a year and a half ago and took it to a mechanic before purchasing and no problems were found. On tuesday of last week a weird noise was coming from the engines hike driving around town and after taking it to a local dealership/service repair center the issue was in my transmission and it needed to be replaced completely. ..updated 05/19/15

Whenever the gas tank is filled up, upon driving 1-2 miles away from gas station on the highway or any road, the engine sputters and stalls. Today the entire engine shut off and locked up. Luckily i was not in heavy traffic at the time.

After filling the tank with gas, the vehicle will shut off after about 1/8 of a mile. It will just stall out and lose steering and lights.

I own a 2007 jeep compass that was purchased new in june of 2006.beginning in may of this year the car began suffering both low and high speed engine stalls, where the warning 'bell' sounds, all of the dash warning lights come on, and the engine completely shuts down.this car is driven by my college age daughter and represents a major safety hazard to both her and those around her.most recently this condition occurred on i-85 south of atlanta in a major construction zone while she was going 60 miles an hour.two weeks ago the opelika jeep dealership did the 'software upgrade' recommended by a technical service bulletin, but obviously it did not resolve the problem.at the time the dealer could not 'recreate' the problem.the vehicle is currently at a dealership in union city, ga where it was towed.in past failures the car was able to be restarted after remaining turned off for several minutes.with the latest occurrence the car was completely dead and the engine would not start at all.in fact it acted as if the transmission interlock was engaged because turning the key produced absolutely nothing.this car represents a major safety hazard to the driver and those on the road around her.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass.after pulling into the garage and turning off the vehicle, the contact heard a noise as if the vehicle were still running.she noticed smoke pouring out underneath the hood.she called the fire department because the garage was attached to her home and she wanted to prevent damage to her house.by the time the fire department arrived, the smoke subsided.she called the dealer and informed them that the vehicle would be towed.the manufacturer has not been notified.the current and failure mileages were 55,396.

The car lost speed and sudenly stop at the road, the vehicle stays on but it doesnt continue and i have to wait 10 to 15 min so i can proceed to drive vehicle again.

2007 jeep compass. Consumer states several problems with vehicle *tgwthe consumer stated the vehicle stalled, the brakes were rigid and difficult to operate, the tachometer jumped to 5000 rpms and a times, it felt as though the transmission was stuck in second gear.

Approximately 9 months ago the horn on my 2007 jeep compass began sounding at random. It was disconnected and in 2014 it was taken to the jeep dealership (atlantic auto group, northfield nj). I was told it was the horn pad and they would order the part. A few days later i was told the part was on back order and would be in at the end of january. From there i was continuously told it was on back order until now june 12th 2015 when i was told there are over 30,000 on back order and estimated ship time in august 23rd 2015 (as per atlantic auto). Needless to say i contacted chrysler who told me they are switching manufacturers and do not have any timeline as to when this part will be in. I currently still do not have a horn and have been offered no help in the matter other than looking in a salvage yard for another one. I drive around with 2 young children in my car everyday and i am extremely concerned about how this situation is being handled especially since it seems i am not the only one (30,000 on back order) !!

I have owned this vehicle a little over a year now, both front turn signal light covers have fallen off exposing the turn signal light fixtures.both fell off with in a month apart.

Initially, the low beam headlight on the right stop working. Used high beam for awhile. Tried having bulb replaced. Worked for a short time. No power getting to head lamp.

It was like a ghost took over it scared me to death. My lights started flashing, blinker came on wouldn't go off, wipers were going full speed and the dash where it tells you south, north, east and west stop working. It's something definitely wrong with this car and reading the forums with the same issues should be a recall.

Tipm failed head light out

When filled up with fuel, car stalls out and cuts off. I have replaced all of the bearings and car still makes a roaring noise with the axle.upper control arms are completely damaged. Battery light continues to come on and headlight was replaced but does not stay on. Light stays on indicating vacuum hose issue. 4 wheel drive light stays on.

On september 20 2007, i was driving to work, i when i came to a stop, the engine stalled. The check oil and check engine light came on. Also, i did not have the a\c on. I restarted the engine with no problem. And while i made a full stop few times, i noticed that the rpm was dropping little by little. I called jeep to schedule an appointment, i went on septemper 24,2007 to the dealer to have my car check. I explained everything. When i went to pick up my car, the dealer said that they could not find anything wrong. The only thing that they mentioned was that the computer of the car needed to be updated. After i took my car, i have noticed that the rpm of the car drops and the engine seems that it wants to start and then it goes back to normal. It is a very strange behavior because it was not doing that before. I tried to use a different gas brand few times, but the problem continue to occur. It is not very often, but recently it is doing that a little more often.

My wife and i purchased a 2007 jeep compass limited from a well know dodge dealership in ct.aside from the terrible and faulty firestone tires, the compass has been reliable.the vehicle has been well maintained with regularly scheduled oil changes when needed.just last week the radio and electronics needed to be reset, but the vehicle started just fine.the next morning it wouldn't start at all.the engine cranked over and over but would not start.while attempting to start, the engine was shaking violently.we had the vehicle towed to a dodge dealership in nc, where we moved to.they looked at the vehicle for $86.00 and were not able to accommodate us with a loaner car.we were told that the fuel pump needed to be replaced.the jeep only has 70,000 miles on it so we were shocked.the dealership quoted us almost $750.00 to replace it!i had the jeep towed to a highly recommended garage in my neighborhood.the mechanic pulled the fuel pump out and told me the switch on the pump was melted!i'm not a mechanic but i'm pretty sure that is not safe, (having an electrical problem inside the fuel tank).he also told me the pump was on national back-order.i have researched many jeep forums and it seems i am not alone with this problem.i don't believe consumers should dish out $22,000 for a new vehicle and then be sol when it comes to replacing faulty parts like this fuel pump, just because the warranty expired.i am pushing to see this problem turn into a recall, because i would hate to be driving with my family and have the fuel pump short out again causing us too crash.to top it all off, i just got the vehicle back from the garage 2 days ago and now it's not starting again.i wouldn't recommend buying this year vehicle.

The gas tank gauge stopped functioning properly.it will read empty when full & started to go up despite being low.have to use trip mileage to determine when to fill up not best method.but gauge is not accurate or reliable.i thought it was just me but i see this is a relatively common problem & has a service bulletin.

Vehicle does not accept fuel easily as pump shuts down while trying to fill tank. Informed will need new gas tank at my expense as possibly filter in tank is defective.with current temperatures below freezing much of the time it is possible that vehicle may run out of fuel in a rural area without warning.possibility of exposure to extremely low temperatures.i have never had to replace a gas tank in over 50 years of driving many different makes and models!

Hose from filler cap to tank seemed to be plugged as it would not take more than half gallon at a time at the pump, leading to spilled gas at the pump, (seems to be worse in cold weather.)

The vehicle has a purge valve or other issue that is very common that causes the car to shut off after filling up gas. This leads to vehicles shutting off in the middle of the road, losing control of steering and acceleration as well as other powered things, since the car shuts off.

Filled gas tank. Afterwards engine stalled in traffic.

After filling the tank with gas, the vehicle will shut off after about 1/8 of a mile. It will just stall out and lose steering and lights.

K frame front and rear is rotted.my car won't pass inspection.needs manifold style catalytic converter.needs to be replaced.won't pass inspection.car stalls out in traffic every time we refuel

When putting fuel in the gas tank, the pump kicks off and gas splashes out like the tank is full.we have to hold the nozzle and let it trickle in the gas for quite sometime.it doesn't matter how we hold the gas nozzle or what angle, it simply shuts off the pump like its full, and i'm dealing with spilt gas on me and the ground!i cannot fill my tank! after speaking with a jeep dealership, they verified it does happen to the compasses.what!there is a recall for the 2012, for the same problem.i am requesting a full refund for getting mine fixed, for seems to be the same problem.the problem got worse, i need gas and it alas it didn't allow for a fill up of gas.

Shortly after refueling the vehicle, the vehicle stalls and upon restart runs rough forshort time. We had one incident where a fuel leak developed after refueling.the stalling issue has almost caused my vehicle to be struck and clearly has caused a control issue when the vehicles engine loses powershuts down.the vehicle has been checked and no codes were triggered or stored.themanufacturer doesn't seem interested in addressing my issue.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that the vehicle would sporadically fail to start and would stall without warning. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer and was told that the wire from the fuel pump started to fail and could have ignited a fire. The dealer could not provide a reason for the failure. The vehicle was repaired. The contact stated that there was no corrosion or rust on the part when it was replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 83,929 and the current mileage was 83,981.

When i put gas in the car the first 20 mintues the car turns off when in motion on any street but only in those 20 mintues. After the 20 mintues the car is fine and it says it has no errors and it doesn't turn off.

When i fill up the gas tank on my 2007 jeep compass it stalls several times over the next few miles. I've read the blogs on the web and it appears to be a failure of the fuel tank rollover vavle. The only fix apparently is to replace the gas tank at a cost of approximately $1,2000. I just bought this car for my 16 year old daughter and it has stopped on her in traffic twice after filling up the tank. Luckily she escaped being hit by an oncoming car. This is so wrong! this is a defect and a recall needs to be established to fix this issue.

After refueling the car looses power and stalls. Last week i refilled the car and i stalled in traffic. When in stall situation drivers need to be aware that steering is difficult. I think the stalling is caused by fuel getting into the evaporator canister

Car stalls after filling tank ( not overfilling ) .runs rough then stalls and power steering cuts out locks up on road.

After filling the fuel tank this vehicle will stall.this happens routinely following a fuel tank fill-up and is extremely dangerous.there are many concerns on the world wide web of jeep compass and patriot owners experiencing the same issue without resolve.many people are suggesting that the gas tank, charcoal filter and roll-over valve need to be replaced to resolve, which comes at a price of $2000+ per vehicle.this notification of a problem is proactive and should be addressedprior to becoming reactive to injuries or fatalities.

1. Fuel pump started arching and nozzle to hose was coming loose-smelt gas while in motion, gas gauge started dropping dramatically2. Horn stopped working-while driving i tried to warn another vehicle who was trying to back out while i was behind them, luckily they heard me yelling3. Back windshield wiper stopped working while in motion trying to back out in the rain4. Struts went5. Rotors went6. Cross member-noticed while driving and took 2 weeks before dealership could get my appointment right to get it taken care of since it was recalled7. Tipm is going. Lost power to 2/2 outlets in the vehicle.8. Cv axle is going. Sounds really bad and sounds like both passenger and driver side. Treated this vehicle with lots of care and so did previous owner. This tells me this is not a reliable vehicle and a safe vehicle i can drive my daughter in.

Car stalls after filling tank every time.runs rough then stalls and power steering cuts out, locks up on the road.when restarted it stalls again several times.very dangerous on the highway in a heavy traffic.

Car stalls after filling up gas tank...apparently this is a known issue and is happening to my daughters car and she was almost in a bad accident due to the car stalling when pulling out of a wawa gas station. There is apparently a need to replace the fuel tank due to a vapor lock issue which chrysler is aware of and is happening in more then one type of their vehicles... This is a dangerous issue that if not recalled and the company is held accountable will lead to death.

In my family we own a 2007 jeep compass which we are pleased to own. However, last year (2018) we found that it was spitting gasoline outside of the car after we finished pumping it. It looked like the car was pumping the gas back to us without we even turning the car on.at the beginning i could not pump enough gasoline into the fuel tank. It stopped unexpectedly and spit the fuel out, with enough force and quantity to fill the cap compartment and notably reaching the floor.we took it to the dealer three for the same issue and they changed a couple of parts and partially solved the problem in february 2019. Partially because when we filled the tank full, it caused the engine to turn off within 5 minutes of fueling.however, in june 2019, we found that the car was again spitting gas out when we fill the tank to full. Again, with enough force and quantity to fill the cap compartment and notably reaching the floor. Therefore, we decided to make this safety complain because not only my family is in high danger but also every person at a gas station where we fill with gasoline. Moreover, it is concerning that a car develops this type of problem by itself and jeep does not seem to have a defined solution for this matter.

When filling the gas tank via gas pump auto shut off, the car will stall.this has happened the last two fill ups.the car has 92389 miles on it.the first time, it stalled after starting then again after entering highway going up hill with loaded dump truck right behind me.he barely missed hitting me from behind.plus car looses power steering.2nd time this happened was next tank fill up and stalled before leaving gas station.afraid to drive and have parked car.roll over valve is not working (stuck open?).if car was in roll over accident, fire could result from spilling fuel.afraid what might happen if pulling onto highway from ramp and stall in front of 18 wheeler.

This vehicle stalls after filling up tank, you fill the tank and a couple miles down the road it will stall, then it is good until next fill up. This is my wifes car and im afraid for her since she takes the express way all the time.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle stalled and the steering ability seized with out any warnings. The vehicle was driven to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the power control module valve needed replacement. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 127,000.

Fuel hose going in tank will not always take fuel , spilling some on the ground, very dangerous if i don,t go in the store so they can put floor dry on it, does not do it all the time , took the tank off once but did not find anything.

Gas tank will not take fuel. When filling it will only take about 0.3 gallons before stopping or spraying out. Mechanic said it might be ventilation system.

The car lost power while driving down vermont in torrance even though the engine was on. I had to pull over to the curb. Earlier that week on sunday aug 26, 2015 i had to have my battery jumped by aaa. Instead of driving around i let the car run for half an hour. I revved the engine and the rpm stopped working although the engine was still on. I started the car the next day and it had clunking sounds while driving at lower speeds which disappeared upon driving freeway speeds. Upon trying to park the car at work it jerked while in reverse. I drove the car the next few days until it failed on aug 31st while driving home on vermont. The car had to be towed to the scott robinson chrysler dodge jeep dealership in torrance, ca. Testing there revealed the car needed a whole new transmission at only 70,000 miles. They said it was not due to any fault of mine. I had the car towed to a aaa approved repair facility to get a second opinion and am waiting to see if the car repairs will solve the problem. It's fortunate the car didn't fail on the freeway.

I was driving to atlanta on 10/2/2013 & 11/6/2013 and the panel light came on for the transmission overheating. I was driving around 75 mph and i heard a winding noise, i lost power, and my rpm's went to 4/5. I had to pull over due to the fact that i couldn't get my speed over 20-30 mph. The temp outside was 68 degrees so the heat outside did not contribute to this problem. There was a point when it wouldn't even accelerate. My vehicle has around 137,000 on it. I do see many complaints regarding this issue and something really needs to be done.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that the struts, ball joints and wheel hubs had to be replaced on the vehicle three times. The dealer stated that the parts were designed to wear. The contact stated that the transmission also failed. The dealer advised the contact that the cvt part was the cause of the failure and the entire transmission would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 128,000.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. While driving approximately 60 mph, the vehicle suddenly began to decelerate and stalled. When the vehicle was turned off and restarted, it resumed normal operation. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was 199,000.

2007 jeep compass. Consumer states several problems with vehicle *tgwthe consumer stated the vehicle stalled, the brakes were rigid and difficult to operate, the tachometer jumped to 5000 rpms and a times, it felt as though the transmission was stuck in second gear.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that the transmission was dragging in every gear; she noticed the problem everytime she attempted to accelerate. The dealer inspected the vehicle and stated that the transmission was the cause of failure but no other details were given. The current and failure mileages were approximately 68,000.

Pulling from a stop sign onto a busy road my transmission simply stopped working. The engine was on and the car was therefore idling into traffic, but nothing was happening when i was pushing the gas pedal. I was able to idle into a parking lot, where i turned the car off. When i turned the car back on, the transmission worked again. Earlier the same day, the transmission stopped working while the car was driving, but somehow re-engaged itself and began working again. I was coming to a stop at the time so it didn't strike me as the transmission until later that day when it repeated.terrifying.

The vehicle was repaired.the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 131,483.

The cvt transmission failed.there is a public danger because of sudden failure and engine revving to maximum rpm... Total loss of power to drive train.the cvt transmission replacement costs should have been debited back to the supplier at 100%.i see this is a common problem in the vehicles manufactured with the cvt transmission.chrysler would not complete the repairs until we agreed to share in the cost.i feel this item should be recalled as a safety issue.i also feel that chrysler should refund our $750 to us in good faith.

The alternator stops working after 90000 miles. You hear a big thumping sound like a tank. You do feel it but, is loud when accelerating and accelerating.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the check engine warning light illuminated as the vehicle made a loud noise and decelerated independently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was advised that the transmission needed t be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 92,000.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph, the vehicle abnormally lost power and decelerated to 20 mph. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection where they advised that the tmc module and transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was 128,000.

Cvt overheats at highway speeds. When the cvt trans oil heat light comes on the car rpms increase and acceleration is lost. It was scary losing speed on the highway.

I was trying to pull out of my driveway and it would hardly move forward, or pull ahead back in the driveway. Had it towed to the garage and they looked at it and said its wiring and transmission.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. While driving approximately 55 mph, the clutch became stuck and prevented the transmission from shifting from third to fourth gear. The dealer stated that there was air in the clutch master cylinder. The mechanic removed the air out of the system, but the failure recurred and the clutch became stuck in reverse. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 106,000.

While coming to a stop, at a light in heavy rush hour traffic, upon applying the brakes felt sharp jerk in steering with a loud snap noise. Not knowing what it was when light changed and i proceeded forward aprox. 2-3ft when car came to a sudden stop jerking to the left. Immeadiately placed car in park and looked out driver side window to see front left wheel angled back aprox 35 degrees and jamed into fender well. Called tow company and police arrived to direct and divert traffic, no police report made by police because no injuries or other vehicles involved. Tow truck driver & police both stated i was fortunate, because had i been going down the road when it happend it could been very serious and/or fatal to not only me but others as well. Car towed to nearest repair shop were it was discovered that subframe assembly had actually rusted/rotted through on left front end of vehicle and broke with everything attached to it (steering linkage, left axle, tie rod, etc.) coming loose. Researched online and found there hand been a service bulletin 23-012-14 issued for front and rear crossmember corrosion and looking at other forums (ie myjeepcompass.com) and safecar.gov as well. Contacted jeep customer service given case #34535927.had to pay to have car towed again, this time to a jeep dealer to inspect and confirm subframe failed. When i asked why there wasn't a recall instead of just a service bulletin that nobody sees except the dealer i could not get a straight answer. Jeep did agree to cover crossmember replacement after confirmed, but not to pay for the parts that were damaged from the failure of the crossmember which came to $844.81 i had to pay. I think that would be a small price for them to pay in light of what the cost could and would have been to them for serious injuries and/or fatality related to their known defect. Now i get stuck paying for their defect.

I have a 2007 jeep compass. And for the past year i have had several issues with the vehicle stalling when i am decelerating or stalling when at a complete stop. Some times the vehicle jerks so bad that my seat belt locks up. I took it to the dealership where i bought it and they said there was nothing wrong with it but that the tech's are unfamiliar with the new transmission in this vehicle. I also have problems with the driver side seatbelt it clicks when i put it on but then all of a sudden it will come right off. I had a screw stuck in my front tire today and could not get the front tire off when we finally got it off we figured out why it would not come off there is rust. I am very unhappy with the problems and scared that the vehicle will stall when i am on a major highway.

While traveling in highway at 65 mph, my 2007 jeep compass jerked and i loss acceleration down to 40 mph and then it would not go any faster even with the gas petal down to the floor. Got off highway and car only would go 25 mph. Just had a tune up two days prior to this problem. When the car jerked and loss acceleration, the engine came on and began to blink and ring. After the tune up the dealership said everything was good. I guess that wasn't true. Problem with transmission?

2007 jeep compass. Consumer states problem withautomatic transaxle and transmission overheat *tgw the consumer stated two of the three jeeps she owns were having the same problems. During high speed driving, on hot days the automatic transxale oil became extremely hot, and the transmission overheat light would illuminate and the vehicle would slow down slightly until the automatic transaxle cooled down enough to allow a return to the requested speed.the transmission fluid was low due to a leak in the transmission pan. My 2007 jeep compass began to make creaking noises under the hood at about 58,000 miles and then it quickly grew louder and more omnious sounding at about 60,000 miles when going at slow speeds and on uneven ground. I work on the road and so the miles pile up quickly.however, i live in the city and do not take my car off road.i assumed the noise was my sway bar - again - as did my mechanic and he told me to get it to him when it was convenient. It became obvious that the noise was likely more than the sway bar and i dropped it off to my mechanic. He diagnosed it as needing new ball joints and some tire rods.i searched the internet for a recall or known issue and there is a multitude of other compass owners who have had to have the ball joints replaced at less than 60,000 miles.that is not satisfactory longevity for ball joints. This is a $900 repair that should not be paid by the consumer.a recall should be made for this issue. A vehicle in this condition is extremely unsafe to drive to those within it and others on the road.

Since i bought the jeep compass 2007 standard, the brake ground and i felt in my feet something wrong with the pedal (brake) and the driver seat belt, several times spoke with the dealer about this, they checked the car and all the time told me the brakes is ok, i send a letter to jeep company to explain what was happened and nothing they did. Two days ago i was cleaned the car and found down the brake pedal a leak, i went to the dealer and they said: the brakes booster is broken, and i have to paid for that. Thanks to god i didn't have any accident,(fortunate) but i never felt me safety. The jeep compass brakes 2007 came bad.

My car was involved in a auto accident when i was making a right turn and was hit by another car side impact, airbags deployed. The passenger side seat belt anchor came completely detached and seat belt no longer restrained the passenger, consequently sustaining multiple injuries.

The drivers seat belt keeps unlatching by itself. Problem has been presented to the dealership. They have found no fault. Keeps getting worse will be taking it to another dealer tomorrow, this happens every other time i buckle my seat belt in.

Driver side seatbelt doesn't ingage every time.i have to push it in and pull on it over and over again to make sure its latched.this has been going on two month or so.

Our jeep 2007 compass has had an issue with the drivers seat belt remaining latched. Most times it will unlatch itself within seconds of the click sound. And other times, it does unlatch while we are driving.we did take it to the dealership the same year we bought it, and they told us there was nothing wrong with the seatbelt.we complained to the dealership again the following year, and again, they said there was nothing wrong. It does not happen all the time, but, is still a safety concern for us because, if we were to get into an accident, that seatbelt may unlatch upon impact.

Drivers seat belt clicks but it doesn't engage. This has been going on since summer 09. I have to make sure its locked by pulling on it. Numerous times my seat-belt has come off while i was driving. This needs to be investigated. There are several complaints on here its obviously a serious issue. The dealer checked it and said it was fine after i demanded they replace it under warranty. No luck.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated he is having problems with his abs. When he presses on his brakes there is a clicking noise. It seems as if the vehicle is not going to stop at times. He also stated that his seat belt is not working properly either. When he goes to put it on it will click like it's on but it will then come undone on it's own. The contact hastaken the vehicle to the dealer but they told him nothing is wrong with the vehicle. The failure mileage was 35,000the current mileage is 110,000.

Child in the back seat in a car seat that was held with safety seat belt.he is 3, about 30 pounds.he unlatched the seat belt but had put it around himself where he still looked intact.when we stopped and went to get him out, he was unable to get out as the seat belt was retracting and getting so tight around him he was getting squeezed in half.we tried to pull the seat belt to release it but it wouldn't release.we had to cut the seat belt.he is fine now but could have been disastrous.i am concerned about this.he is scared of the seat belt now which could be a good thing.

I have a 2007 jeep compass.the rear headrests are not removable and if i install my child forward facing car seat it leaves a gap in between the headrest and seat.this compromises children's safety.i called the dealership i bought it at and they refused to help or even acknowledge that there is a problem.i understand most jeeps have this problem as well.

The brakes began to engage suddenly and independently.the failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic where the technician advised that the anti-lock brake module would have to be replaced. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 06v493000 (service brakes, hydraulic:anti lock:control unit/module) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 145,000.

While trying to stop on slippery surfaces 3 out of 5 times my abs is non existent and my wheels lock upi first noticed this in december 2009. Last night i was driving on a icy snow covered road. I was coming to a stop sign, i applied my brakes and i didn't feel like i was stopping. I gave the pedal more pressure and i started to fishtail almost colliding with a parked vehicle. The next stop sign i came to abs worked fine. After that my wheels locked up. This vehicle is a complete joke. Also note vehicle is equipped with good snow tires.

Jeep customer has several concerns about mirrors **ccthe consumer was unable to see out of the rear view mirror, because the rear head rest obstructed her view. The consumer stated the vehicle was side swiped because she was unable to see out of the rear view mirror. The consumer had a previous problem with the abs control module.

Entire suspension system is nothing but junk. Replaced tie rod ends, inner and outer, ball joints, sway bar links, struts, hubs and axle. Some of these parts more than once. The tire came dangerously close to falling off the vehicle with less than 24 hr notice that something was wrong. Failed inspection last year for tie rod end that was replaced previous year. Chrysler will not budge on taking responsibility for what my mechanic calls "junk". Does someone have to die before they react??

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that the driver noted a rattle while she was driving. The contact was informed by the dealer that both outer tie rods were loose after a routine oil change. The vehicle had not been repaired. The contact called the manufacturer who took a complaint for the failure. The current and failure mileages were approximately 30,480.

After filling the tank with gas, the vehicle will shut off after about 1/8 of a mile. It will just stall out and lose steering and lights.

The car began pulling in the front right tire intermittently. I was a half mile from home, so i turned around to go back home. As i drove into the driveway, the front right tire and entire front right suspension completely fell down (almost completely off) and the tire was pushed sideways and into the frame of the wheel well on the car. The car came to an immediate and abrupt halt. Had i been driving on the road when this occurred, my car would have flipped and i would have crashed and could have been killed! this is a huge safety problem and defect that i believe should be part of a recall. I have read many reports of problems with this model/year concerning the wheel bearings, lower control arms, and tie rods. I have great concern driving this vehicle in the future after it is repaired.

2007 jeep compass control arms, right outer tie rod. Iwas hearing some squeaking when i hit a bump and a little grinding as i pulled up to traffic lights. I took the vehicle into get an oil change and asked for the mechanic to check it out. I was told the vehicle is unsafe to drive due to total failure of the control arms. Cost to fix: over $1000.with the control arms being such a common issue with this vehicle, jeep should really consider issuing a recall.

While driving about 40mph the car violently changed lanes with no warning. Luckily no cars were near and i was able to bring the car back under control. I have experienced loose steering before but never to this extreme. I am scared to drive car fearing for safety of myself and passengers. I haveread up about these cars and all the problems they have of which i have experienced quite a few myself. I was told the car needed extensive repair to the front end and that there was extensive corrosion to many parts on the under carriage.

While driving the car it started pulling to the left and steering wheel was shaking. There was also a pound squealing noise. Pulled vehicle to the side of the road and noticed the driver side fron tire was leaning inwards. Looked under the vehicle and noticed the sub frame had rusted through and broke.

I got a flat tire on may of 2011, after taking it to a tireshop i was informed that i needed 2 lower control arms, and tire rods. There was also uneven wear on the fronttires.

While moving , every bump or crack in road created a rattle and thudand would vibrarate though steering column. Went to repair garage and was shownrusted crossmemberbarely holding together. Plus sway bar broke loose from rusted area

Just like a lot of other complaints, had to have tie rods and ball joints replaced. Seem like a lot of the jeep compasses have this problem. Can they not make them better. Should be a recall.

Rot to sub frame that is affecting steering control

I was informed by the dealership of which i purchased my vehicle that my vehicle requires front control arms and tie rods which was given an estimate of about $900.00 to correct.my vehicle has 17,000 miles and is out of warranty, however, i viewed numerous complaintsonline of the same nature on the same year, make, and model vehicle.this appears to be a defect from the manufacturer since there were so many identical complaints indicated online.the dealership requested i do not drive this vehicle until repaired due to a safety issue.the dealership also said the items which need to be repaired will be replaced with a better quality and this occurred on many of these vehicles from this particular year.

2007 jeep compass.at approx 100k miles i took it to the dealer for routine service.technician informed me that the tie rods were bad on front driver side, showed me play in the wheel.said it needed to be fixed.i agreed to have new tie rods put on.one month later the car began to handle erratically, i took back to the same dealer and asked to inspect their previous work and search for the handling/steering problem.after two hours they informed me they could find nothing wrong.7 months later, while driving with my 6 month old in the car the front left control arm broke and the front driver side wheel actually broke off at the lower ball joint while the car was in motion.replacing control arms and ball joints on both sides plus two new front tires netted a total repair cost of $1400 ... This is on top of the previous repair cost to replace the tie rods.

Dec 2015- my car mechanic found rotted outfront end sub-frame/ cross member'. He knew about a recall for this issue so i was able to get it fixed. ( impt pls note:chrysler had never reached out to let me know about this- even though when i look up the recall for corrosion it's clearly listed ).nor did chrysler tell me the rear cross member was also on recall and wouldlikely be needed and should get it done before the sept 2017 end of warranty. Forward to april 2018 - idiscover rear cross member sub frame is badly rusted out.called chrysler customer sx they tell methat it's recall warranty ran out sept 2017- so they will not cover the repair this time.i feel chrysler is responsible for this repair as they did not tell me about rear end problem when i could have had it fixed before the unbeknownst to me end of the extended warranty in sept 2017! i seek your help to review my complaint and request to offer legal reasons that willchrysler honor the recall warranty. Which was valid for salt belt states- like ma where i live. I believe thereference # is23-012-14.

Rotted front subframe. There was an extended warranty on this but i was never notified and now i have to pay for repairs out of pocket.

Severe corrosion of crossmembers & incomplete dealer servicing of issue. A tsb # 23-012-14 issued 5/19/2014 extended coverage of crossmembers to unlimited mileage & 10 years. Dealer replaced front crossmember 02/2017 within coverage period but claim condition at time of rear crossmember didn't also warrant replacement despite lack of metal structure to walls of crossmember and have declined to extend repair to an obviously long existing problem of rear crossmember condition.

Purchased a 2007 jeep compass 2nd hand and found rear subframe and suspension parts is severely rusted . The vehicle clunks and hopps with every bump in the road. If you run over the reflectors while changing lanes vehicle will abruptly jerk in the direction you are going. Took it to jeep there was a recall for this problem that expired in 2017 i don't think there should be an expiration date for a safety hazard that thousands of jeeps and or dodges have they told me they cant help me.

I drove for several hours when my car started sliding to the side. I stopped to check and both my back tires were angled inward and completely ruined. I took the car to a mechanic for alignment, but he could not move the parts due to an excessive amount of rust. He mentioned that the whole subframe and arms had heavy corrosion and whole and the pieces could break anytime soon and i should not be driving the car. An extended warranty is applicable to the k frame for the model of my car but jeep will not honor the warranty on my particular vehicle. I haven't drove the car since.

2 weeks ago purchased a 2007 jeep compass. Some rattling under neath when driving so took it to a mechanic. They had it hoisted up and found a minor issue. But the mechanic pointed out the front crossmember/subframe was rusted out. He said it needs to be replaced because it is a serious safety issue.looked online and this is a common problem with jeep compass and patriots from 2007 and on. I was quoted $1600 for replacement.i called chrysler/jeep headquarters and said they were aware of the issue and had an extended warranty but my vehicle is not covered!!!!!i told them it should be covered no matter what because they used cheap and weak steel which corrodes faster in northern climates due to salt use on roads and it is a huge safety issue!. The engine could fall out, the suspension could give out while driving and cause an accident.they kept repeating "past extended warranty". My 1997 jeep grand cherokee just died 2 weeks ago and i never had frame issues with it. I loved my grand cherokee, it was well built and lasted for 21 years! i am so disappointed with chrysler jeep right now. They went from building quality products to cheap and expensive. They kept repeating "past warranty"

My wife says that as she approached a red light on a city street the vehicle had trouble stopping and that it felt like the front wheel was going to come off the car. When i looked at it i noticed a ton of corrosion on the front cross-member and sub-frame and one side had completely split apart.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. While driving 25 mph, the contact heard an abnormal clunking noise and discovered that the subframe and cross member were rusted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The contact called a local dealer (hillview motors, 5309 us 30, greensburg, pa 15501), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact called a manufacturer and was advised to take the vehicle to a local dealer to be inspected. The failure mileage was approximately 160,000.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated during a routine oil change, he was told that the sub frame was damaged by rust. The contact stated the mechanic was able to put his finger through the sub frame due to the severity of the rust. The mechanic stated the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 89,300.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. While the vehicle was undergoing a routine oil change by an independent mechanic, the mechanic noticed that the crossmember k frame was corroded under the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 108,000.

Upon an inspection of the underneath of my 2007 jeep compass, it was found that my front sub frame (also known as the k frame) has serious rust issues.there is actually a section on the back side of the sub frame that has rusted out (approx. 1/2 inch by 4 inch in size).after some investigating issues with this vehicle on the internet, i found that this a common problem with this vehicle and that jeep has not recalled this issue.i will be replacing the part because this is a major safety issue with this vehicle.

Inspection after clunking from the front of the vehicle revealed severe rot and corrosion of the subframe with the mounting for the anti-roll bar completed broken away from the subframe. Also severe corrosion around the lower control arm mounting appeared to be close to the failure point. Took the vehicle to the jeep dealer who stated that the 10 year extended warranty had expired and that i should not drive the vehicle due to safety concerns. Found fca internal warranty document id-14-02 for the subframe corrosion issue dated 5/19/14 which refers to fca service bulletin 23-012-14 and states that all dealer personnel are to be made aware of this bulletin. I have a receipt for other repairs from an fca dealer dated 7/28/14, 2 months after the warranty bulletin date and there was no notification given about the inspection mandated under the warranty and nothing noted on the receipt. Thus there was no way for me to know about this waranty and safety issue which i am now told has expired for my vehicle. Per dealer instruction, i called fca customer care and was also told the warranty for my vehicle had expired and my only choice was to pay for repairs myself. In scrolling through the complaints already noted in the nhtsa site, i see numerous mentions of this problem with many indicating complete subframe and suspension failure with injury only being prevented by the slow operating speed at the time of the failure. This problem is a manufacturing defect where improper materials and/or coatings were used by fca on these components. For reference my 1998 dodge neon has no such problem after 21 years as it used galvanized coating on this critical component. Fca needs to issue a recall and pay all associated costs for this safety related issue and be liable for any injuries resulting from these failures.

Driving my jeep compass and the front end started i thought it had my rocks up in the brake system took a mechanic and he blew everything out there all that stuff and then it still came back making the thumping talking noise like when you turn turn your wheel to the right or left or when you backup and i don't know what's causing it.

My daughter was driving and the left front cross member that had rusted and was completely corroded failed and fell on to the front driver side tire.luckily she was going slow enough and was able to control vehicle to safe stop. If she was on the highway and this happened it could have killed her as well as others.i had just purchased this vehicle on november 2016 from a auto sales company. After the fail i learned that there was a extended (10) warranty (ie x58) that warned of this problem and a fix provided by company. I was never told this information when i purchased this car that it was unsafe to drive and should has been repair before being sold to anyone or at least inspected.i was told by chrysler rep that the vehicle is still registered in canada and they had no idea this car was in united states so the information never followed the car.i was also told that the car make was in sept of 2006 even though it is a 2007 on title and the warranty goes by make day so my car is 6 months out of a warranty that i did not know existed because the car is still registered in canada. The information that this vehicle front or rear suspension could fail should have been the utter most concern for safe by the chrysler company of canada and not a i hope you got our letter that your car my kill you or you family at anytime from rust failure in around 10 years or so and we know it !!! as of today chrysler has not made a decision on weather or not they intend to fix this vehicle but the fact remain there are more 2007 jeep compass out there that need to be warned that the canada version of this vehicle could fail anytime i`m sure i`m not the only person who purchased a compass from canada plant that is now in the usa that has not been told of this problem. This why i feel there should have recalled them for repair in stead of hope you got or letter. Look at picture!

Chrysler service bulletin number: 23-012-14 front and rear cross-member corrosion . By what i read it should be covered, but dealership told the girlfriend that it isn't ... This member is rusted completely through but they have stated it is not covered. This issue has the potential to cause death if final failure causes a crash at highway speeds.

My vehicle, has a rough ride, traction light flashes often.i had several repairs done on my front in june 2014, (upper, lower control arms, left and right sides, rotors ,brakes and tires are always needed).on february 2,2015 my left front ball joints and control arms broke and my wheel broke off, i am currently in need of more control arm and strut repair on my right side again!my vehicle clumps and has a rough ride, i am in constant fear driving this vehicle, because of the constant issues with my front end, even after its repaired.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that the struts, ball joints and wheel hubs had to be replaced on the vehicle three times. The dealer stated that the parts were designed to wear. The contact stated that the transmission also failed. The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was unknown, but the current mileage was 128,000.

While moving , every bump or crack in road created a rattle and thudand would vibrarate though steering column. Went to repair garage and was shownrusted crossmemberbarely holding together. Plus sway bar broke loose from rusted area

The alternator stops working after 90000 miles. You hear a big thumping sound like a tank. You do feel it but, is loud when accelerating and accelerating.

2007 jeep compass.consumer writes in regards to vehicle k-frame replacement/repairs due to corrosion- repairs were performed before consumer was notified of extended warranty for corrosion problems.the inner tie rod end and front sway bar link were replaced.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that he could hear noises coming from under the vehicle while driving at various speeds over 35 mph. The vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop and the contact was informed that the tie rod assembly and all of the ball joints needed to be replaced. The tie rod assembly was replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and offered no assistance. The failure mileage was 31,824. Updated 02/0812 the mechanic replaced the lower left control arm and lower right control arm. Updated 02/29/12

Took vehicle for yearly inspection where the car was purchased, new.they were at that time a chrysler jeep dealer.it didn't pass the inspection due to the poor condition of the ball joints - mileage at that time was only 14,258. It was suggested i contact chrysler to notify them.they advised me to take it to a local qualified dealership.it was taken for them to check the ball joints.after 2 weeks of not driving the car due to its dangerous condition, the ball joints and both lower control arms were replaced at a cost to me of $214.00.the treatment i received and the amount of time it took them to decide to do the job at the "qualified dealer" was inexcusable.i feel chrysler should of taken care of the cost of the repair, since it was not due to anything i did but the quality of the parts installed originally.this complaint would of been submitted earlier but i was not aware of the nhtsa.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that while having the vehicle inspected, it was advised that the lower passenger side ball joint and control arm needed to be replaced.

On june 13 2011 my compass with only 17085 miles on it, had cracked a front spring that had grinded a ring around my pass side tire.i was not aware of the problem, but i noticed some noise in the front end so i brought it to a dealer for service.i was told what had happened and how surprised the service dept. Was with this incident.they told me they could not believe it.it took a while but after some complaints and disgust with the dealership, but more so with chrysler, everything did get covered buy the 2 parties.not to mention the fact that my vehicle was and still is under warranty.today is january 3 2013 and guess what?i now have to contact the dealer and probably chrysler again.my compass is still under warranty with only 27450 miles and now the driver side front spring is cracked and is beginning to do the exact same thing to my other tire again.i don't know what the dealer will say or do but i will contact them first thing in the morning, they are closed at this time.i was just wondering if this is a common problem or just a fluke?to me this seems like it should be a possible defect and put under a recall.if anyone of these tires would have been warn down enough and a tire would have blown out, there could have been a very serious and or deadly accident.

Badly rusted engine cradle and oil pan prematurely! fiat chrysler would not help replace even though they know the problem exists. No accidents yet but remains unsafe to drive.

At first my car was wearing out tires often ( 83, 068 miles) than it also started having a rough ride...thumps, clumps and clicks when you droveor turned the wheel, than the ride got rougher, it honestly gave me headaches from the noise as the wheels rolled on, ( i got tire rods , control arm and ball joint replaced in june 2014, seven months later control arm, ball joint and tie rod broke, (my wheel was dangling apart from my car) as i was transporting my son to his bus stop, 'luckily no one wasinjured" my car was towed to a mechanic($600.00), i had my car repaired and was informed the right side was in dire need for ($465.00). This car requires a lot of suspension work, i currently have 87,000 miles on my car now , (fairly low)my car now stalls out when i stop for a red light,it has even putted as if the gas isn't circulating to the engine, 'major issues".

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. While driving various speeds, the front driver's side tire made a loud grinding noise. There were no warning indicators illuminated prior to the failure. The contact pulled the vehicle over and had it towed to westborn chrysler dodge jeep ram (23300 michigan ave, dearborn, mi 48124, (877) 295-7806). The contact was advised that there were no recalls on the vehicle and there was a dealer bulletin for the sway bar and the crosspins, which needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified. Thefailure mileage was 200,000.

Bought the car brand new in 2007.replaced left and right control arms in 2010 and again in 2014.the car only has 60,603 miles and its on its 3rd set of control arms. I should not be going through control arms that fast.i drive less than 2 miles to work everyday.filed a complaint with jeep in 2010 and they paid as "good will repair".the car was not under warranty.they refused to pay for the 2014 even though its only 30,000 miles later.control arms should be lasting longer than 30,000 miles! the car has had numerous repairs including a gas tank problem where gas poured back out at you while you pump. Clearly there is something wrong with this vehicle.the attorney general in rhode island has referred me to this administrative agency.could you please help?

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle swayed without warning. The contact noticed the front and rear cross members were rusted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the contact was informed that the cross member was rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was taken to anderson chrysler dodge jeep ram (5711 e state st, rockford, il 61108, (815) 229-2000) but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 137,000.

I bought this car in 2008, it is a 2007 jeep ( 2014 or around).we had tires wearing out, and took it in for alignment and spent around $200 to fix tie rods and alignment. About a year later went in for oil change to dealer and they said my arm control in front of car ( 2) needed replacement.i get from reading on line and just that they knew that this was a possible problem, that this was a common thing. Since it is a safety issue, i am writing this to try and get this as a recall, i paid the almost $1.000 to fix ( my daughter, we share car) but could you look into this and see if it is occurring more then normal ( odds are it is) and what the weakness is in the control arms, and because it can so affect ones ability to control car, has to be put on a recall.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

The hole frame is rusted and broke up front. Ball joints are popping and not bad. The sway bars are popping and not bad. Reading brakes but are good. But all in all frame bad rusted out and busted.

Developed a noticable vibration.took to dealer and was advised the balljoints needed replacement and the vehicle was dangerous to drive.when picked up the vehicle, invoice stated 2 lower arms and a tie rod were replaced.i have driven many vehicles over 100,000 miles and never have had to replace these parts. Therefore i feel they were either defective or poorly design ed and they should be subject to recall replacement or inspection. Vehicle wasonly driven on local streets.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that during a state inspection, the private mechanic stated that both lower front control arms needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 42,000 and the current mileage was 43,000.

I went in to get my oil changed and my tires rotated and was told my car is unsafe to drive and here is what they put on my invoice (verbatim) "needs both lower control arms passenger side front has a really bad ball joint and left outer tie rod end is bad also price to replace both outer tie rod ends and both lower ball joints $1083 plus tax and that includes the alignment!!!!!!!!!vehicle is unsafe to drive with ball joint is this condition!!!!!!!!!" (literally with all the exclamation marks.)i took the car somewhere else to get repaired (for half the cost) however i believe this is a part failure as i have less than 50k miles.

While driving the car it started pulling to the left and steering wheel was shaking. There was also a pound squealing noise. Pulled vehicle to the side of the road and noticed the driver side fron tire was leaning inwards. Looked under the vehicle and noticed the sub frame had rusted through and broke.

I have replaced the front and back suspension.i bought this used, and i think i was not given the proper information regarding the car.

The front left side has come apart 2 times from the ball joint and a frame. Today it felt and sounded the same i took it in to a shop immediately because i did not want the front tire coming of again. The mechanic put it up on the lift and came and got me. The engine cradle is totally rotten this is were all of your front end part are held in place. The said thing is i still owe 2 more years on this jeep what can i do!!??.

Clicking noise from suspension area when driving.vehicle only driven at slower speeds as it's vehicle my daughter drives to school. I took to mechanic and he said the frame is badly rusted and just touching it to show me the frame was breaking.vehicle has to have the frame replaced to safely drive vehicle again.this shouldn't happen to a car of this age.

Rear cross bar axle is defective.the wheel suspension is deteriated to the point that the wheels protrude ouward from the vehicle causing extreme wear on the inside part of the rear tires to the point of wires on radial tires are exposed.the outside part of the tires show minimum wear.mechanics say this cross bar axle is poor quality steel or steel that wasn't cured and finished properly.the cross bar axle is literally eroding with holes occurring right through the axle itself.fear is the car is becoming too dangerous to drive without fear that upon hitting a bump the rear wheels will spread apart and the car fall to the ground.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated while driving various speeds a clicking noise was present in the front end of the vehicle. The contact stated the failure was diagnosed and repaired by an independent mechanic who determined the right ball joint was defective and needed to be replaced. The contact notified the manufacturer of the defect. The failure mileage was 63,000.

The suspension on the 2007 jeep compass feels dangerous. Replaced struts and had other suspension work done, yet vehicle wobbles left to right when hitting bumps. Feels like it is skidding across the road. Noticable at low speeds feels unsafe at highway speeds.

Rear driver side suspension rusted away from frame. Sub frame extremely rusted needs replaced per jeep dealer car wanders now and rollover fear. Contacted fiat chrysler customer service. Deny issue is there's since out of warranty. Internal memo allowed fixing of issue until feb 21, 2017. But since i was unaware there was a safety issue until failure happened apprx mid august 2018.

The bearings melted into the hub assembly and it wore out the brakes and ruin all four tires, now the lower control arms are going out.i have only 43000 miles on the car and the warranty has ran out at 36000 miles.this should not have happen with such low mileage.alignment will not stay because of the tires and the lower control arms.there has not been a recall but the hub, bearings are not able to geased.so these parts wear out sooner than normal.

I had a rear left wheel bearing and hub assembly removed and replaced because of the very loud noises it produced.then he also told me at that time, i would also need a right rear wheel bearing done, and rear brakes.i already had my front brakes replaced.in addition a tie rod replaced as well and also lower left and lower right control arms replaced.not to mention a wheel alignment to boot because i just put on 4 new tires. Now with everything i have heard i'm worried about my ball joints, will they be next?i am afraid to drive the dumb car, i don't go for any trips or anything, i am a senior who hasn't much money but i would like to be safe.why aren't they making jeep do a recall on these cars?i also received in the mail a silent recall for corrosion on the cross members, now they are giving me a hard time about that as well.please, someone help us out!

No crash or injury, however the incident involved was that the tie rod on the left front side on my jeep compass 2007 was loose andthe wheel was ready to fall off the auto. The jeep 2007 had 72,900 miles original. I have not had any accidentsor abusive driving with the vehicle which i purchased from the jeep dealer in milwaukee in february2010 with 68,000 orig. Miles and in very good condition.

The vehicle was not repaired.the failure mileage was 58,000.

Passenger side lower front ball joint,(front was shaking while driving and had to be replaced) driver side front outer tie rod,(steering wheel was shaking while driving) both rear upper control arms. (was not diagnosed until iwas having wheel alignment done.) but rear tires were damaged from these parts being worn..had to replace all these parts. Only have rear upper control arms and tie rod. Owners opinion is thatfactory wheels are to big for this vehicle and causing to much pressure on these parts.

2007 jeep compass.consumer writes in regards to dissatisfaction with vehicle.the consumer stated the ball joints needed to be replaced on the vehicle at 39,106. At 43,060, the rear ball joints needed to be replaced. Now, with 48,000 miles on the vehicle, the front and rear ball joints needed to be replaced for a third time. The consumer also stated the tire needed to be replaced with only 34,406 miles on the vehicle.

I took my2007 jeep compass 2x4 to have the drivers front tire repaired. The repair man found that the ball joints were bad and needed to be repaired. I checked it out online to find that many jeep compass owners have had the same problem and only has 41,375 original miles. This is a wide spread problem. My jeep was purchased from a dodge chrysler dealer. I ask that you force jeep chrysler to recall this vehicle for this defect.

Took my 2007 jeep compass in for an oil change and tire rotation and was told that the lower ball joint on the front passenger side was bad and that i should get it repaired as soon as possible; that it was very dangerous to leave it as is. I found this website and found that this seems to be a very common problem. My car has 36,600 miles on it. The warranty was up at the end of july. How convenient. I plan on calling the dodge chrysler dealership in the morning and seeing if they will be able to help me out without this costing me a fortune. Seems to me like this is a parts problem and that a recall should be issued.

Went in for new tires and the store reported to me that the lower ball joints were lose and it present a very serious safety issue.this was brought to my attention because the jeep compass had only 27,740 miles on it.

Excessive play in front end. Tierods were replaced at 50,000 km they were severely worn.

Ball joints.

Metallic noises emitted from jeep compass 2007 model front passenger's side. It would creak when turning and would frequently lose control of right side tires in adverse weather. Have fixed ball joint twice now and seemingly wears down over and over. Reviewing other complaints for this model, this appears to be the norm. A broken down ball joint and consequent cracked axis would mean a very dangerous situation: flipping off the road, losing control at higher speeds, etc. Thus far we have avoided serious injury but at less than 30k miles this should not be a recurring issue.

Started hearing a tire noise and clunking when turning or going over bump. Took it to my service man. Car unsafe to drive. Dangerously bad lower ball joints. Had to replace brakes due to this and tire has started to separate due to the looseness of the tire. I have the defective ball joints. My 2007 jeep compass has 41,000 miles on it and this should not have happened. Multiple vehicles have had this problem yet no recall. There was a recall on this 2003 through 2006. Obviously there is still a problem. This problem could be life threatening if the wheel comes off. I was lucky.

Took 2007 jeep compass in for oil change.mechanic said that car was dangerous to drive as ball joints and control arms needed replaced and were so loose that they may cause accident.because of cost of repair, took car to jeep dealer for servicing to get a second opinion.they confirmed that the ball joints and control arms do need replaced and that they are dangerously loose.car is unsafe to drive.repair estimate is $935 although i'm trying to negotiate since this seems to be a defect with the car.

The crossmember was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 100,000.

Replaced front tie rods, sway bar links and passenger side control arm 1 year ago. Noticed lots of noise and vibration coming from under the front of the car. Brought it to the dealer was told it needed driver side control arm and rear control arms but the cross member and sub frame were so rusted out he told me that the vehiclewould still be unsafe to drive even with new parts. The cost of replacing the cross member and sub frame would more than exceed the value of the vehicle

The car stalls and cuts off after filling the tank all the way. If not completely full car works.

2007 jeep compass experienced subframe rust/rot with total failure at 76,xxx miles while being operated straight on a state highway.

The hole frame is rusted and broke up front. Ball joints are popping and not bad. The sway bars are popping and not bad. Reading brakes but are good. But all in all frame bad rusted out and busted.

I received a letter in the mail in regards to an ignition switch issue so i went to different dealers to try to get it fixed but no one has been able to see me to fix the issue and i was told until march 2016 there would be more parts coming in and to come back during that time.

I purchased vehicle in feb 2018 for my then 16 year old daughter. Last couple of refuels, vehicle will stall out after leaving gas station. She looses power, steering & braking ability when this occurs. Vehicle will start back up drive along a while then stall out again. This happens several times then will operate normally till next fill-up.

I bought my 2007 jeep compass brand new. I never off-road and i try to drive cautiously avoiding pot holes. I was hearing this weird noise and brought it in to a dealership today. They told me i need to replace the lower control arm costing me several hundred dollars. After searching on the web and seeing all the similar complaints i am convinced this should be a recall. Jeep needs to do something this is not right. This is a repair that should not be needed on such new vehicles.

Blood has been drawn, and a small amount of skin was removed. The upper metal latch for the glove box has a knife edge. It is apparent that there was no attempt to file the edge dull before it was painted over. This is located in an area where hands are supposed to reach in. A competent service department with a metal file and a paint pen can remedy this in one minute. I don't want anyone else to be similarly injured. Please enforce a recall. Thanks for giving this your attention.

The front cross member rusted through and the engine dropped, while driving but the car was at a stop. Also the rear cross member is also broken

When i put gas in the car the first 20 mintues the car turns off when in motion on any street but only in those 20 mintues. After the 20 mintues the car is fine and it says it has no errors and it doesn't turn off.

The contact stated that the accelerator pedal seized while traveling at a low rate of speed and that the check engine and brake warning lights were constantly illuminated on the instrument panel since owning the vehicle. The contact took the vehicle to darcars chrysler dodge jeep ram of marlow heights (5060 auth way, camp springs, md 20746) where they informed her that it was best to dispose of the vehicle due to the extensive damage that needed to be repaired. Upon investigation, the contact linked her failure to nhtsa campaign number: 10v234000 (vehicle speed control). The contact called the manufacturer and the contact was informed that the vin was not included in the recall. The contact then filed a complaint with the manufacturer. The vehicle had yet to be repaired. The failure mileage was 150,000.

The contact stated that while driving 60 mph, the electronic throttle control warning lamp illuminated and the vehicle decelerated. The contact mentioned that she was unable to accelerate. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. Driving along at normal speed, roughly 30mph, and car took off and accelerated on its own at a high speed rate, unsure how fast it accelerated to.. Flew across an intersection with an incline. Jumped the hill dukes if hazard style. Came down, busted tire, rim and passenger side window, mirror and spring and who knows what else. I was on a gravel country road. Potholes but otherwise good travel conditions. I don't have any photos now but can get them if needed.vehicle is unable to be driven

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. The contact stated that while attempting to go around another driver, the accelerator pedal was depressed and was stuck to the floorboard. As a result, the vehicle speed increased to 90 mph in a 40 speed zone. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 112,000.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass. While driving at an unknown speed up a hill, the vehicle would not accelerate although the accelerator pedal was being depressed. Once she reached the top of the hill, the vehicle began to accelerate. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was repaired (repair details were unavailable). Approximately one month later, the failure occurred again. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired again. The failure mileage was 49,841 and the current mileage was approximately 51,000.

Takata recall it cut off on me at the light in traffic andit jerks when it pull i got everything fixed so they told me to get it checked i did its the computer malfunction

While in bad weather conditions, wipers totally stopped working. Electrical issue. Car cannot be driven in rain conditions.

It was like a ghost took over it scared me to death. My lights started flashing, blinker came on wouldn't go off, wipers were going full speed and the dash where it tells you south, north, east and west stop working. It's something definitely wrong with this car and reading the forums with the same issues should be a recall.

The wipers have stopped working took it to a dealer shop and was told it was the tipm modular which after looking into it is a common problem with these vehicles this is a pricey fix and should have a recall on this.

2007 jeep compass front passenger door window shattered while driving on the highway.ohio traffic crash report # 10-90-0963.

On the morning of 02/10/2007 i was waiting in a line of vehicles at a local car wash.i had not entered or used the car wash to that point.suddenly, my rear window literally exploded into thousands of small pieces.i checked the back of my car and the pavement in the back of car for evidence of something that may have been thrown at my car and found nothing.i believe that the glass was defective and was affected by the cold weather.anyways had my children been in the back seat, there is a possibility that the broken glass could have struck them in the back of their heads.

The complaint is on 2007 jeep compass with sunroof option. The sunroof is not installed appropriately and when it rains, and the sunroof drains get clogged, the water leaks into the car through the map lights and as well through the floorboards of the car. The water damage can cause long term mold and rust on the frame of the car that would be unknown to the owner. The leaks also can cause mechanical failure to the car. I have already had my speakers fail and cannot imagine what else may fail. I have also seen numerous complaints regarding this problem on other jeeps and chrysler models with sunroof options.

Windshield just cracked one day while i was driving to work on my 2007 jeep compass. Now it has cracked some more and a survey said that the windshield will crack under certain types of weather.

I have replaced the front and back suspension.i bought this used, and i think i was not given the proper information regarding the car.
