When stopping at a traffic light the idle goes lower than expected an the car turns off. It doesn't always do it but i have a friend with the same car and after calling the dealership the seller told him that after the car start accumulating mileage that happens to it. Its a 2010 jeep compass with the 2.4 liter engine. Our car was bought approximately at the end of june 2010. It has done the described problem at least 3 times since my wife and i bought it.
The transmission control module stopped working. After trying to turn the car on. It would only move in 1st gear and in reverse. It happened a second time less then 6 months later. The car shifted into drive and the entire car jerked and made a popping sound. And would again only work in 1st and reverse.the 3rd i was driving on the interstate. As i got on the off ramp the car beeped like it was out of gas and then about a second later the traction control light and oil temperature light came on and the car felt like some one had slammed on the brakes briefly. This caused me to pull slightly to the side when this happened. Luckily this happened on the off ramp and not the interstate traveling in traffic at 70mph where i fear it may have caused an accident with another driver or by myself as it cause me to pull to the side, no way of telling what would of happened. But i'm fearful. Chrysler has tried to fix this 2 times. This will be their 3rd attempt.
After re-fueling my jeep 2010 jeep compass until the tank is full (not over filled) the car drives heavy; engine stalls and engine has stopped completely while idling in traffic and at a intersection stop light on route 102 in londonderry, nh off of exit 4 off of interstate 93. It has happened multiple times and the check engine light briefly has flickered on, however, my mechanic stated the warning light did not show in the computers history. Thus causing no way to actually diagnose and fix the problem. This is dangerous as i haddifficulty restarting the engine after each incident . However, i was able to eventually start and drive(although while the gas tank is full it drives heavy)the car.it seems, that the problem dissipates after using the gas and it has not occurred when the gas tank is not filled to its potential capacity. The car has approximately 83,960 miles as of today, july 3rd, 2011. This is a very dangerous issue that needs to be addressed and covered cost wise/recalled with jeep accordingly. This has only occurred on a full tank of gas while idling at intersections. I know that on the car gurus website multiple jeep compass owners and jeep owners in general have experienced this safety issue.
When filling up my gas tank (after longer trips 75+miles) the car will stall then die within feet of leaving the gas station. The car will buck and jump forward to prevent itself from stalling / dying after the fill up. Usually i am filling up with the fuel gauge 1 gallon from empty. I believed it was just air in the fuel lines, but for this to happen when the vehicle is waiting at a stop light or pulling out of the gas station, i am now concerned it is not just air in the fuel in lines. Please provide information as what to do, and fix this! many other people have experienced this while intraffic and its a dangerous problem!

Last week after pulling out of a side street my 2010 jeep compass would not accelerate. I was in a high traffic area and it was dangerous. After putting the car i neutral and back into drive the car finally accelerated. Yesterday, while trying to accelerate onto the highway the car would not go over 40 mph or past 2000 rpm. My foot was to the floor but the car was not accelerating. After about 1/8th of a mile it finally starting to accelerate. This is a new car with only 5200 miles on it.

After driving 180 miles, my transmission temperature controller light came on,was going between 75-80mph, when the light came on and i lost acceleration power to the vehicle. I proceeded to exit to a near by gas station, and read in the manual the smallest paragraph on what to do. After putting the vehicle in neutral, turning off the a/c, radio, and headlights, i let the car sit and cool off. Within 4 mins the light went off. I filled with gas since i was running low. From that point the vehicle stalled and bucked when leaving the station and died within 500 ft from the pump. After restarting the vehicle it jump and bucked one more time, then drove for 25 miles to my destination with no other problems. Please provide feedback on to why the transmission temp light would come on while driving, and provide a solution. I have had this car for 3 years now, only having issues with stalling and vehicle dying after filling up at the gas station. This has been happening for about 8 months now after each fill up.
