I bought this vehicle and put $423 into the front end replacing rotors, brakes, wheel bearings, hub assembly and control arm bushings only to take it to a garage to find out why it was still impossible to drive safely. I was told by two different garages that it isn't safe to drive because the struts and whole front end is damaged beyond repair that would cost more than the vehicle is worth. Also the car dealership has removed the airbags and now made it nonstickerable. You can't drive it without the vehicle feeling like the front end is gonna fall out and is unable to control the steering.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass fwd.on june 19, 2007, after coming to a stop, the contact accelerated and the vehicle stalled.the check oil light illuminated.she was able to immediately restart the vehicle.she went to the dealer to have the vehicle checked, but they stated that the vehicle was fine.the vehicle's computer lost its programming when she stopped to put gas in the vehicle.the contact also stated that the passenger side air bag light illuminated, as if the air bag was not working.the mechanic advised her not to put her purse on the seat because it may cause the air bag sensor to deprogram itself.the current mileage is 17,200 and failure mileage was 17,150.

I have a 2207 jeep compass.my 16 year old daughter was driving down the road at a speed of 40 miles per hour and the air curtains on both side of the vehicles deployed on their own.the car stalled immediately in the road.we took the jeep for repair and it was kept at the dealership for 29 days.they have released the jeep back to me, but the jeep company does not have an explanation as to whey it happened.they also cannot tell me that it will not happen again.this is my sixteen year old daughters car.if she had been on the interstate and this happened she would have been run over by traffic and killed.this car is not safe and i can't believe that jeep would want consumers to drive a car that could kill you.

My 2007 jeep compass horn would not stop blowing. The dealer disabled it and the car would go in the next day. Over 5 days it had to be jumped 4x as the jeep was dead trying to get it to the dealership. It was not the battery and after 5 hours the dealership said it was a fixable because it needed a horn switch. The problem is that no one has a horn switch for it. The part is on back order..there are 527 orders for it with no delivery date in sight. You cannot drive the vehicle with the horn blowing or with it disabled or run the safety risk of needing the horn or the jeep dying on you mid route. It has been at the dealership for 20 plus days. Jeep not having this part or dealers getting access to it is a safety issue. People will drive with the horn disabled if they have to have their car...what else are we/ they to do!!!???...updated 07/30/15updated 9/23/15

There were no events leading up to failure. The failure was of the totally integrated power module (tipm). As a result power was lost the drivers side headlight. Car was taken to jeep dealership but they refused to replace the defective part.

While traveling at about 25 mph with my 6 month old child in the vehicle, my car lost all power.the electronic throttle control indicator light came on (flashing) and so did the slide protection light.i was not able to accelerate beyond 20mph and when i came to a stop, the vehicle ran very rough like it was going to die.luckily i puttered home and my child was safe.i had the vehicle towed to my local jeep dealership and after almost 5 days of trying to diagnose the problem, they informed me that the pcm needed replaced.they stated that they were "very confident" that this would fix the problem.well today, they pcm was replaced and the problem persists.the chrysler/jeep dealership still cannot pinpoint the problem and it seems that this is a very common problem for the 2007 jeep compass.at the time of the incident, i was so scared as i alsmot got into a wreck when my vehicle lost power.my 6 month old child could have been hurt, or worse.even if this car get fixed, i will be so apprehensive to drive anywhere in it with my child for fear that it will give out again.this seems to be a major problem with these cars and there should be a recall in my opinion.i do not feel that this is a repair that i, or other jeep compass owners, should be responsible for as 1. It is all too common and 2. The pcm/electrical system is not a component that wears out with mileage or usage.i believe the problem is due to faulty manufacturing on behalf of chrysler/jeep.while i wait to see if the car can be repaired, my repair bill just keeps growing. I have decided to take action for this issue and that is why i am filing this complaint.please contact me at anytime with any help, support, or questions as i will be awaiting your response.thank you.

Issues with car stalling/shutting off after filling up with fuel. This often happens when car is idle or while in drive. Very dangerous and unsafe conditions, especially on busy highways. Has caused near accidents on many occasions. Issue occurred after filling up gas tank completely but then happened after every fill up, regardless of amount. Car also takes longer to fill up as gas pump at gas station would click off while attempting to fill car.

Have my vehicle in for inspection and found that the ball joints, tie rods, rocker arms, brakes and rotors had to be replaced on the front and brakes had to be replaced on the back.

Started hearing a lot of noises in the front end, took it to my local mechanic. He said the front cross member was rusted in 2, which was causing everything to rock. Not safe to drive. He said this has been an ongoing problem for a long time with chrysler products.

I heard noise in the front of the vehicle and was told that the front subframe cross member is completely rotted. By looking at the jeep you would never know anythingiswrong because it is well maintained. I was wondering if there are any recalls for this type of problem in upstate ny.

Severe corrosion to the frame and sub frame of the jeep compass.the front sub frame is separating from the frame and now the vehicle is unstable and unsafe to drive. There should not be this much corrosion on a 2007 vehicle of any kind.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep compass fwd. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where they detected that the front end suspension was faulty. The technician was replacing both front tie rods and lower control arms.the manufacturer was notified of the failure and was unable to provide any assistance. The approximate failure mileage was 42,000.

During vehicle inspection the rear cross member was found to have rusted through.the front cross member had the same problem and was replaced in 2016 under a campaign through jeep. Not a recall though. Now two years later the rear has the same problem but it is not covered because it had a ten year expiration from date of manufacture. This is a known defect from jeep and should not have had a time limit placed on it. They should have been recalled and replaced. Jeep knows they are defective its just a matter of time.

Subfame is falling apart rotted from a/c drip valve ! sway bar no longer connected to subframe!bad design of jeep compass 07 subfame !!!

Ball joint failure. Seems to be a problem with the jeep compass. I have 55000 miles and have noticed the noise since 50000.

The front ball joints on my 2007 jeep compass have rusted. I have only had the car for 3.5 years and have had to replace 6 tires because of problems.
