Vehicle died on road, towed to shop they could not find error, they updated the computer.released vehicle back to me.begandieing on road, lost steering, lost brakes, unsure if lights worked.limped back to dealer. Dealer finally reported that it was a bad wiring harness connection to the ignition system. 2010 jeep commander with 5k miles.barely missed hitting a police vehicle.

While driving my radio shuts on and off constantly.sometimes my dash lights flash and beep then my odometer dials start to flutter up and down and my blinker will hesitate when it's on.

After application of safety recall n23/ nhtsa 13v-175. Reprogram final drive controller module. 2005 - 2010. (wk) jeep grand cherokee. 2006 - 2010. (xk) jeep commander, the transfer case of our car could not be shifted out of 4-high to either neutral or 4-low. Consequently a major drive train component has been destroyed. This demonstrates the software is defective and potentially dangerous and may not correct the reason for the recall.this is completely unacceptable and is indeed a safety risk.chrysler has not remedied the problem even after thousands of complaints.i demand that nhtsa force chrysler's hand in this matter as nothing is being done to fix this faulty recall!

The battery light came on about 5 minutes after i started driving through residential streets and onto a freeway. I exited the freeway and went to the auto store where i had originally purchased the battery from, about a year ago, which is less than 5 miles from my house. They tested my battery and said the battery was good but my alternator was bad. I drove my jeep commander home and parked it in the garage, per usual. When i exited my jeep there was no odor, no smoke, no sound of any sorts coming from under the hood. Less than 20 minutes of parking my jeep, my jeep was on fire and caught my house on fire. No warning nothing! my jeep was 10 years old and just turned 103,000 miles. I faithfully serviced my jeep at the local jeep dealership or midas. My jeep had no previous issues of any sort (no loss of power, no leaks, wasn't running hot, etc.).

The contact owns a 2010 jeep commander. When the key was removed from the ignition, all the warning indicators on the instrument panel remained illuminated. The contact also stated that the damaged key warning indicator illuminated continuously and caused the battery to die. The failure recurred continuously. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the wireless ignition node module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v200000 (electrical system). The failure mileage was approximately 100,000. ....updated 0711/16

Ignition key would come out of switch while engine was running.

Commander will turn off when pulling away from a stop sign, pulling into the garage, turning a corner. The first event was turning left from a stop light after i had been going 65mph on the highway. 11/26/2012 this vehicle to dealership following several more stalls while driving. Nothing was noted on the dealership evaluation. The most frightening event was on the highway at 60mph and simply died in the middle lane in the dark, at night. I thought i was going to die on that road. The engine panels all went down, lights went off, engine shut off. This vehicle continued to die at unexpected intervals on the road. 10/28/13 the dealership stated tipm was shorted internally, the tipm was replaced. This vehicle has continues to die while driving on the road, pulling away from a stoplight or simply turning a corner or driving into the garage from the driveway.

After having safety recall n23 / nhtsa 13v-175 performed, my vehicle's transfer case no longer shifts as it should, preventing the vehicle from shifting into neutral or 4 low. I do not trust that the stability control system will function correctly now as it is my understanding that this same system adjusts the torque to the front and rear axles as needed.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep commander. While attempting to turn off the vehicle, the key was removed from the ignition; however, the vehicle would remain on. The contact had to make several attempts to turn off the vehicle. I have had to replace the battery in my car 4 times since i purchased the vehicle 5 years ago.

In continuation of my previous complaint 10563803 since the n23 recall disabled the 4 low in the transfer case of my jeep, jeep has been attempting to repair it. The most recent repair was completed on 6/19 and per the dealer jeep had them hard wire circuits t313 and k594 on my vehicle. While traveling at 75 mph the warning indicators for both the traction control system and the electronic stability program lit. Shutting the vehicle off and restarting did not clear the issue. I believe that both of these system are mandated by nhtsa in 75% of all vehicles sold in this model year and it appears that jeep is compromising these systems in an attempt to fix a related problem.

The car drove fine pulled it in the garage.got up thursday morning to go to work the car turned on and started shaking and i turned it of tried once more it would not turn on at all.so then i changed the crank sensor the cam sensor got a new battery put new spark plugs the truck still would not start.had a garage look at it they said it was the intake manifold so they therefore told me to take it to jeep because it was covered under warranty.i took it to jeep and the told me this would not stop my car from running, they have had my car for a week and no diagnosis.this car is only three years old but jeep customer service says to me you bought it used so you don't know what was done to the car.so i say to her your qualified mechanics you have working at the dealers cant do the job. What great customer service jeep has.and the dealer is suppose to be getting in contact with jeep tech's in corporate to try and figure out what the problem is.still no car 6/01/15.

With no warning,(no noise from engine) traveling about 25mph engine light flash on, lost all engine power, became hard to steer, was able to safely pull the vehicle out of the road. Later learned that the timing chain broke. I also learned that chrysler corporation recalled this engine 5.7 hemi in other products, but not the jeep. This is a time bomb

I just purchased a used 2010 jeep commander limited with 5.7 hemi from philpot motors and brought it home june 25th, 2012.on friday, june 29th on my way home the engine completely shut off twice within 10 minutes. Both times it was as i was coming to a complete stop. I had to put it in park and turn the key and it started right back up like nothing was wrong. Philpot had it brought to an authorized jeep dealer (allen samuels) where it sat for 2 weeks and they couldn't figure it out or reproduce the problem.philpot suggested they change the tipm (power module) and re-flash the memory which they did.i got it back and drove it for about a month and once again it happened at a stop sign when my wife was driving it.the engine stopped completely and she had to put it in park and restart it.it just dies with no warning at complete random times when coming to a complete stop.i was disgusted and so philpot took it once again and sent it to allen samuels. They had it for another 2 weeks and still could not replicate the problem nor find one.they even contacted chrysler engineers and they couldn't offer any advice.i just got it back the other day because they couldn't figure it out. I even contacted chrysler group myself after the first occurrence and the girl was rude to me on the phone. She couldn't or wouldn't help me find a solution to the problem because i wasn't the authorized service center.she said the authorized mechanic could only contact their techs, not a consumer. I can't believe that chrysler engineers and authorized service people cannot find or replicate a problem that's happened three times now.i just wanted my jeep fixed but i guess chrysler doesn't have the knowledge or know how to pinpoint what is causing this dangerous problem.

The contact owned a 2010 jeep commander. The contact stated while his wife was parked at the supermarket his wife attempted to start the vehicle twice with no avail. The third time she attempted she stepped out the vehicle after she smelled abnormal fumes and someone alerted her that there were flames coming from under the vehicle. The fire was located on the front passenger side where the engine was located. The fire department was called and extinguished the flames. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a lot without being diagnosed as totaled. The dealer was not notified of the failure, and the manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000

" takata recall"i am the original owner of a 2010 jeep commander.unfortunately, this past week the timing chain broke and left me stranded on the side of the road.thank goodness it was not during rush hour.there was no warning and could have caused an accident.let me start by stating that this jeep has been meticulously cared for from day 1 and every recommended service and oil change has been done on time.this is our family car and not an off road toy.i drove my jeep with respect and care. So, how and why did the timing chain break and destroy the engine?i called 3 other local jeep dealerships asking this question and the response was the same with each chrysler mechanic 'never heard of this on the jeep commander' after doing some research online, i did find several chat boards and an article in hot rod magazine talking about the 5.7l hemi timing chain breaking in challengers, chargers and 300's.eventually, there was a recall to address the issue.according to several sources, my commander has the same engine from the same time period the recall occurred.so why are jeep's not included? chrysler knows this is an issue and have chose not to address it.this could have been bad, had my vehicle stalled out the way it did on the highway in rush hour.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep commander. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled while driving at various speeds and upon starting. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and they were unable to diagnose the failure. A power module, spark plugs, and ignition coils were replaced. The failure continued. The manufacturer was notified and the contact was awaiting a reply. The failure mileage was 24,000.

Stalling while driving

Engine stalled at stop signs, daughter was driving the vehicle and engine stalled at an intersection. Not able to restart it. Vehicle was pushed to the side. I went to assist her and after many tries the engine restarted, i started to drive and the engine willstall as ndc shutdown at allstop signs/ traffic lights.i managed to drive it to the jeep dealer shifting into neutral and pressing the gas to keep the engine running.no engine lights were present, temperature was normal and vehicle had 1/4 tank of gas.after a 5 days in the the dealer, they indicated that there is nothing wrong with the vehicle, no codes.

Timing chain broke on motor causing catastrophic damage to the v8 hemi.recalls on other vehicles with this motor but chrysler says not enough people have complained to cause recall on jeep.stupid answer.problem is not the vehicle motor is in its the motor.jeep was still financed so had to pay out of pocket for a new motor while still paying for the jeep.

The jeep will stall out while decelerating every few months for the last couple of years.most of the time it has been while approaching an intersection from speeds of 30-45 mph, so i have learned to pop the transmission into neutral to restart the car while in motion.this is horribly scary and dangerous since i obviously cannot steer during the process, and have, at least four times, been making a left-hand turn across traffic.i have taken my car into the dealership numerous times, but they don't even log me in because they say that since i have no illuminated indicator light, they will not be able to pinpoint the problem.this is so dangerous that i would get rid of the car, except that i cannot replace it with anything comparable.i love my jeep and just want it to not try to kill me.

This is my vin, but it's not showing up on your system:[xxx]2010 jeep commander, 6 cylinder, awd.engine dies without warning, after stopping at a stoplight, or after sitting with the foot on brake, such as while waiting to make a turn left or right. (as of yet, it has just not died while driving.it always happens after stopping.)this is my daughter's car, and the dealer is unable to pinpoint problem.sometimes the car just dies while sitting at a light; other times, after sitting in a braking situation, and accelerating from a stopped position to make a turn, it dies.very dangerous, especially if pulling out in front of or across moving traffic.it appears this is a recurring problem with jeeps and dodge/chrysler products, based on what i've read on-line.i am very worried and concerned.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

During acceleration throttle became stuck.vehicle started increasing in speed without the pedal being depressed. I initially held on the brakes for 3 consecutive compressions without any noticeable decrease in speed or rpm.shifted car to lower gear along with brakes, still rpm and speed was increasing. Plan b was to shift into neutral and let the engine blow or shut vehicle off while driving on busy highway.in the midst of going through these actions vehicle stopped accelerating.going to dealer first thing monday morning, god only knows what would have happened if my wife and kids were in this vehicle when this negligent, unsafe, hazard occurred.this is totally uncalled for in a basically brand new vehicle, me, my son and the innocent pedestrians along the highway were in jeopardy when this safety incident occurred.

Commander will turn off when pulling away from a stop sign, pulling into the garage, turning a corner. The first event was turning left from a stop light after i had been going 65mph on the highway. 11/26/2012 this vehicle to dealership following several more stalls while driving. In april of 2013 i started having tilting issues with my high-intensity discharge headlamps automatic headlamp leveling system. My vehicle is a 2010 jeep commander. When i drive at night my lights would lower all the way down randomly, leaving the road infront of me pitch black. I have been forced to drive with my high beams on during these episodes until the lights would raise again to the normal setting. With in the last two weeks the lights won't raise at all and i am forced to limit my driving after dark. I have 2 small children and clearly this poses a safety issue. I took my vehicle to cueter jeep in ypsilanti, mi to have the problem fixed and the service tech told me that he couldn't fix the problem because he couldn't duplicate the problem. ( a recap: the problem was that the lights would not move into a level adjustment at this point as i explained to the service tech.) when i dropped off my vehicle i also had an oil change and tailgate work done. I left the vehicle overnight for all the work to be completed as they were waiting for tailgate parts(drop off time at cueter jeep service 7am thursday april 25,2013/ pick up time 12pm friday april 26,2013). The service tech told me at the pick up time that he couldn't duplicate the problem and that he couldn't fix the headlight problem and that the headlights were acting that way because the highbeam auto dim was turned on, in which was not the case as that feature was not turned on nor have i ever turned that feature on.may 1,2013 9:31am, i talked with the service manager at cueter jeep (richard bayer) and he told me that they couldn't figure out the problem unless i left the vehicle over night so they can drive it at nightand i explained to him that i did and also confirmed that the tech's leave the dealership at 6pm. So my safety issue hasn't been resolved by cueter jeep, my 5 star dealer.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While driving out to my parent's with my daughters my jeep just shut down,{stalled} while going 50-55 mph. Lost power steering and brakes, had to shift into neutral and re start. This happened four more times in the next 8.4 miles. After dropping of my kids my husband followed me to the dealership to drop it off. About 9 miles away, and it shut down 6 more times at various speeds. Dealer does not know what's wrong and is waiting until monday to get a response from chrysler head quarters.

I was in mattoon illinois, had backed out of a parking spot from dairy queen onto a side road i pulled up to a stop sign for a main road as i had the clear to make my turn i proceeded to do so when i heard a loud pop. Ilost my steering, my breaks and acceleration. When i came to a stop half way in the turn lane of the main road i got out to see what had happened. My front driver side tire was laying up under my jeep. It had busted my upper and lower ball joints, my cv shaft, and my break lines and also bent my inner and outer tie rod ends and my tire and rim. From there it had to be towed clear back to my home in toledo illinois. I thank god each and every day that i had not made it to the highway and was doing 55mphs because i had myself and three small children ranging from 3months old up to 3 years old in the vehical with me and it would have been deadly had i made it to the main highway and was going any faster.

The contact owns a 2010 jeep commander. When the contact purchased the vehicle from an independent source, she was not informed of its recall history. When initially purchased, the vehicle made an abnormal noise and there was extensive wobbling and a strong vibration in the rear. The contact was uncertain if the failure was related to a potential "death wobble" and the rear trac bar. The vehicle was taken to various independent repair facilities, but they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the intermittent failure continued. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Along the entire upper body of the car there are cracks in the paint which i attributed to a paint defect. It now has rust damage to the upper frame above the windshield and on the roof of the vehicle where the cracks were.above the windshield is the worst damage where it has eaten into the frame.

A nut fastening a tpms stem to the wheel/tire failed resulting in a tire blow out.upon inspection of all other tpms stems, another nut had a fracture its entire length and had to be replaced.

While driving my radio shuts on and off constantly.sometimes my dash lights flash and beep then my odometer dials start to flutter up and down and my blinker will hesitate when it's on.

I have had two failures in the last three months with the tps tire pressure sensor system resulting in two flat tires at interstate speeds with the loss of one tire completely. The nut that fastens the sensor to the rim has corroded and just crumbled in my hand when attempting to remove it. Is this a common problem, and has there been a recall to repair this defect? have had to call aaa twice to remove and replace tires.
