The vehicle ignition is faulty and under recall. The vehicle will just turn off by itself. I have contacted chrysler jeep but they have not returned my calls to repair this vehicle. I own 2 of these jeep commanders and neither of them are safe to drive. Chrysler is aware that they are not safe but yet will not repair them or provide safe transportation until repair is made.

2007 jeep commander.consumer writes in regards to vehicle air bag did not deploy.the consumer stated her husband was involved in an accident, where he was hit by a train in a residential neighborhood while crossing a railroad track. The train struck the passenger side of the vehicle and according to the police report, the train dragged the vehicle about 100 feet and then flipped it over on its roof onto the street.

A woman made a left hand turn in front of our car, cutting us off, causing my front end to crash into the side of her car.we were traveling about 35 miles an hour, the speed limit, at the time of the crash.the driver and passenger air bags failed to deploy.because of this my passenger and i hit the dash.the front end looked to be totaled.

If this recall has such a high risk level of crash, injury, and even death, why hasn't jeep come up with a remedy. I worked in the united states army combat readiness/safety center which deals with accident investigation and truly understand the risk of injury or even death that comes with this potential materiel failure. At the south padre islandi gotstuck in the middle of no wheredo to my4x4 transfer case not engaging on low gear. I checked the internet and found out that a lot of people are having this issue do to an update by the dealer n23 to jeep commanders, before this update my commander always worked perfectly. I got concerned do to having my family with me, wife and two children 9 and 11. I am going tomorrow to the jeep car dealer to fix this issue.

I was driving on the freeway and all of a sudden the engine light turned on and my rpms dropped to zero. I pulled over, the power steering went out and the ability to brake went out. I turned the vehicle off and on and then it was fine, however, the engine light was still on. There were no codes when i went to a mechanic five minutes after the incident.this is the second time this has happened.

This complaint is in regards to a stalling issue in my 2007 5.7l jeep commander.the vehicle will stall while idling at stops and during low speed maneuvering at turns and in parking lots.while at speeds of 45 mph+ the vehicle will attempt to stall and temporarily lose power.after stopping the vehicle and placing it in park, the vehicle will restart.this has become a serious safety concern as it stalls while maneuvering through intersections and at intersections where following vehicles accelerate when lights turn green.after taking the vehicle to multiple shops over the past week and a half (including the jeep dealership where it is currently located), it was determined the pcm required reprogramming.following the reprogramming of the pcm, the dealership determined that the issue was not resolved as the vehicle stalled again while maneuvering from the service bay.per nhtsa action number: ea07007, i can see that the 2006, 4.7l commanders were recalled from what appears to be the same issue.i also noticed that an investigation was conducted concerning the 2006-2007 model commanders with the same issues (investigation # pe07009) but the investigation is now 'closed' and 'upgraded to an engineering analysis (ea07-007) to further assess the frequency, scope and potential safety consequences'.this appears to be a proven issue with daimler chrysler era vehicles with over 1.3 million cherokee and commander's recalled in 2008 (hood, james. "jeep owners complain of stalling." consumer affairs.17 july 2013) and 76 complaints in investigation # pe07009.i am fortunate that due to my geographic location i am able to avoid heavily populated thoroughfares, but have still had some close calls when stalling mid-intersection with oncoming cross traffic approaching.this issue greatly hampers the vehicle's utilization and has a direct impact on my family's safety.

Purchased the 2007 jeep commander 4x4 2 weeks ago.when i started the jeep the service park assist flashed and went away, i headed down my driveway onto the highway and could not accelerate more than 20 miles per hour, the jeep would not shift gears.i pulled to the side of the road for safety because of traffic, turned the jeep off, started it again and merged back onto the highway and the jeep again could not go more than 20 mph, put on hazards and brought to mechanic.left the jeep running, got back into to reverse and the it would not reverse, at this time the prnd was lit up on the dash board.still waiting to here what the problem is mechanic can not duplicate.very serious safety problem as i use to transport my children.

I was driving down the highway doing approx 112 km/hr when my vehicle a 2007 jeep commander lost all power, all systems went completely dead for approx 5 seconds, just as i started to panic everything started up again. My young daughter and i were scared driving the rest of the way home worried it would happen again.i called the dealership where we purchased it from st. Albert dodge jeep and booked it in for a check. They told me they could find nothing and that they had not heard of any similar problems with these vehicles. I told them i was not picking it up until it was resolved as i have 4 young children and do not want the vehicle dying on me again while driving. At this point i went online to see what i could find and was shocked to discover that 76 other complaints had been lodged nhtsa action number ea07007. I called the dealership they said they knew nothing about this and for me to bring in the information when i pick up my vehicle.

My jeep had an issue while i was on the highway driving 55 miles per hour.the park drive reverse and neutral lights lit up and i could no longer accelerate.i was rear ended with my children in the car.this is the most dangerous vehicle i have ever owned.i have had i to the mechanic for repair and the mechanic called jeep and jeep was not clear on how to fix it.my mechanic reset my computer and it corrected the problem for a little while but now i was in an accident.i am telling everyone who will listen.this is dangerous.it's a bad product and it needs to be recalled.i know that people need to die before they do something.i am just glad it wasn't one of us tonight.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. After restarting, the vehicle resumed for a brief moment and the failure recurred. The vehicle failed to restart and was towed the dealer. The failure occurred the same day the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system). The contact informed that the recall remedy was insufficient. The dealer informed that the failure was related to the faulty alternator. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unavailable.

While i was driving the car automatically shut off and will not turn back on for a while. Other incidents where the ignition will nit work at all, the car can be completely off and the back window will automatically opened. While the car is running all the light begin to turn on and off in the car.

The truck was parked. It started up for a couple of seconds and it shut off. For an hour the car failed to turn back on. Error stated a problem with the park assist. Similar problem 2 months ago and the dealer couldn't reproducethe problem.

The vehicle just shuts off so far its been 5mph or less and starts back.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. Within less than two weeks of owning the vehicle, it stalled several times. The vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer several times for various repairs that did not remedy the failure. The service engine sensor illuminated before and after the repairs from the dealer. The authorized dealer replaced the electrical switch for the transmission, but the failure recurred. While traveling approximately 70 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact was able to coast the vehicle over to the side of the road and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system) and was waiting for the part to make an appointment to schedule the recall repair. The contact was not able to drive the vehicle due to the intermittent failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but was not able to confirm when the part and remedy would become available. The approximate failure mileage was 114,000.

I have had my jeep for just over 2 years.this has happened 4 times and this is the forth time i've had to have the shift interlock module replaced.the car loses all power, you can't control it.i have been fortunate that it has caused a crash or fire or death but that is because i'm scared to death to take the vehicle anywhere.last night the lights on the dash all came on - service engine, stability track, abs, break, etc.the car shifted into prnd and i could not accelerate.fortunately i could brake and stop before it got ugly.this is unsafe.if you read the jeepcommander.com/forums it is full of similar instances.what has to happen before jeep is made to fix this issue?!?!?!

Driving to work on toll road, 65-70mph. Engine light came on, engine stalled, lost power steering. Had to pull over to the side of the road. Put in park, turned off ignition, restarted. Resumed driving to work. Contacted dealership and they did not have time to check my vehicle that day.check engine light remained on until mid-afternoon that day.

After starting vehicle and shifted into drive, loud clunking noise and grinding began as the vehicle began to move forward. Several dashboard indicator including abs and stability control lit with "service 4x4 system" message. Took vehicle to chrysler/jeep dealership for service and to have recalls corrected, including manufacturer recall n23 (nhtsa recall number: 13v-175) regarding 'unintentionally cause the transfer case to shift into the neutral position without input from the driver.' first available date for service was 7-15-15. Dealership service department informed me that the transfer case control module (chrysler part no. 56044129ap) was corrupt/needed to be replaced and that vehicle was unsafe to drive. N23 recall still shows under my vin as incomplete. Part was ordered by parts department at dealership at time of initial service. I waited approx. 4 weeks for the chrysler dealership to obtain the part. After multiple phone calls, i was informed that they received a shipment of the parts, but that there were customers ahead of me waiting on same part. I filed a formal complaint with chrysler and was given a case number and manager. I inquired with the case manager as to why the part is backordered and if the part has malfunctioned on multiple vehicles, then will this be a safety recall issue related to the n-23/13v-175 recall. After several phone conversations, case manager was unable to provide any useful information about the backorder, stating that backorder is due to "the part is not readily available." the case manager advised that a rush was placed on the part and would be delivered on 8-27-15.the part was not delivered on 8-27-15 after contacting the dealership. 3 calls to and messages left for the case manger without reply.the dealership finally has the part as of 8-31-15 and scheduled for service.more than 6 weeks after the initial service.

My 2007 jeep commander is having a problem with stalling. The car has stalled on me once (1 september 2010) since i just purchased it used on 10 august 2010. I do not know what caused it to stall, but on residential street all dash lights came on and engine stalled and shut down while i am driving. I have checked numerous sites where the stalling problem has been discussed and i even saw an article where nhtsa has stated they are widening their investigation of jeep commander stalling problems. Need to know if an official recall has been issued for this particular jeep commander year.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system) and stated that the parts were not available for several months. 2007 jeep commander 85k milesproblem started with service park assist light coming on.car then would not accelerate for 10-15 seconds.approximately two weeks later (yesterday) same problem occurred.this time i was on the on ramp to the highway where they are doing construction.there is no breakdown lane, so when you get on the highway you are in first lane.as soon as i got into the first lane, the service park assist light came on, the p r n d lights were all illuminated, the car would not accelerate again for approximately 20 seconds and the check engine light came on.this is an extremely dangerous situation as again, there is no breakdown lane to pull over.i called the dealership, they cannot take the car for a couple days.after reading the complaints from other 2007 jeep owners with the exact same problem, i printed these and brought them to the dealership.they indicated they have never heard of the problem and that i can pay for the diagnostic test and take it from there.i was also given the telephone number for chrysler.i had my son in the car, i am now afraid to drive the car and will have to find an alternate route to work as this exit will be this way for some time and had a car been closer behind me, we would have been hit.

I have a 2007 jeep commander that i got on 9/22/07 it was brand new.my husband went on a business trip (approximately 170 + miles away from home) on monday the 26th of december.on his way home on thursday the lights in the dash came on and it went dead.he took it to that dealership and they said they fixed it.then last friday all the lights came on again and it would not go over 65 miles an hour which he was trying to pass someone and ended up in someone's front yard!! we took it back to the dealership and again they said they fixed it.last night we left a restaurant and all the lights came on again so i took to dealership right then.

Upon having the ignition switch safety recall performed on my jeep, i am now putting in the 5th starter on my jeep. Since this recall has been done, i'm replacing starters as frequently as i am doing oilchanges

While driving, the engine will suddenly die without warning.all power steering/brakes are lost.it will restart immediately.this is an ongoing, but random problem.the only code that is recorded refers to the ignition relay module.to date the egr, ignition relay module, and crankshaft position sensor have been replaced.the problem persists.this problem represents a severe safety issue, as a loss of power while pulling into traffic could have catastrophic consequences.

Vehicle stalls whenever it wants too.driving down freeway at 70mph vehicle will turn off and all systems shut down causing it to be extremely difficult to control.vehicle stalls at stop signs and signals as well.sometimes it will go for weeks without stalling and then will suddenly stall without warning.dealer can not figure out what is wrong and wants to play the guessing game with fixing it, have replaced many different parts, over $500 so far, but still stalls.

2007 jeep commander wont start says transover temp. Also when it does start after sitting for days it will light up all gears and stall.dealership says its the shifter for both problems and $690 to fix.others have had this problem and got the shifter replaced and it happened again after a year.

I bought my new 2007 commander in spring of 2008. Less than 6 months later i've been having issues with my electrical system. Random lights come on and go off at different times. Most recently i was in chicago on a major freeway and my car stalled when i slowed down for traffic. After two tries it restarted but my dashboard, lights, navigation system were not working. I drove to a parking lot and turned my car off. After letting it sit for about 20 minutes, i restarted it and only the engine light came on this time. My dealership installed a new ignition switch a couple of months ago when the lights were coming on but this did nothing to help. They can't get my car to duplicate what it has done for me so they give my car back to me without repair. This car is not safe and i'm scared to death to drive it. Having it stall in chicago (not familiar with that city- i was only visiting and needed my navigation system to get to where i was going) was very scary for me as i'm a female and 35. I consider myself lucky this time. But please- someone fix my car or take it back from me! this is not a safe vehicle .

Vehicle is loosing power, park assist light comes ondash along with every other light!! along dash it says something about park assist service?? not sure exact words because it pops across and pops off just as quickly.car won't start right up takes 1-2 hours before anything will happen. Yesterday was the first time this has happen. I had my two year old son with me.. Had to sit in 90 degree weather for over an hour waiting for help. I just bought this vehicle three months ago because everyone raved about how great/dependable jeeps are.. Built to last?!? maybe i should have just stuck with ford... I physically feel sick to my stomach, had i seen that this is an ongoing problem i would have stayed as far away from this type of vehicle as possible!! i would hope that chrysler would step up and address the problem, seeing that all of these people(myself included) bought there product with the faith that it would if not meet/exceed there expectations.

I bought this jeep used about 4 months ago...about 2 weeks after buying itstalled on me...and continues to stall at different times. Its very scary when driving in heavy traffic or traveling on the highway and it just stalls with no warning.

Vehicle was traveling at a speed of sixty five mph on the highway, when the engine just shut off, losing power and making it very hard to get the vehicle off the road and stopped safely. This has happened numerous times in the year we have owned the vehicle. When the engine shuts off it makes it very hard to turn because power steering is disabled because the engine is not running. When the vehicle shuts off it makes it very hard to get to the shoulder of the roadway without any engine power and the sudden slowing down is a very high risk for a rearend collision. We have had numerous close calls in this vehicle because of this problem. I have replaced numerous parts to try and resolve this issue but with no success it continues to happen. The vehicle has been to the dealership numerous times to have this problem fixed and they say (we can not get the vehicle to act up with the technician driving the vehicle to exactly pin point the problem.) this is very frustrating because this vehicle is very unsafe to drive with this issue. I have looked up numerous complaints and issues of people with the same vehicle having identical problems and have yet to be resolved.we have replaced spark plugs, coils, map sensor, mds wiring harness, ignition switch with oem parts and the issue still continues. I recommend faulty engine wiring, ecm, to the service advisors just to be ignored. They tell me until the issue is recorded on the vehicle scanner that nothing can be done to pin point the problem.

The vehicle will lose all power while driving and stall. None of the electrical systems will work and sometimes the car will not start back up. The recall for the ignition switch was replaced but this problem still happens. It has been returned to the dealership several times for this issue with no actual fix for the problem. When the system fails, all the dash lights andfaults lights flash on and off before shutting down. This has happened while driving as well as not starting after turning off the vehicle. It has been an ongoing issue now for a few years now with no fix for the problem since.

2007 jeep commander.all of the sudden my jeep would not start.battery was fully charged and no issues with the alternator. Had to have the jeep towed to the dealer and was told that the wireless remote component was not working. This should not be an issue with a three years old car.

This is the second time my vehicle has done this.the vehicle is working properly and then all of a sudden it will not start and i get multiple gauge notifications populate including check gauges, transmission over temp.this time it will not start at all, i have tried to start it every day multiple times and it will not start.the same messages are still populating, the battery is good, i have a brand new starter, there is fuel.the vehicle powers up, i can operate everything but the vehicle won't even try to turnover.

I own at 2007 jeep commander with 33,000 miles on it.i was driving 55 on a major highway when my jeep commander just turned off.i had no acceleration or power brakes.i was lucky to get to the side of the road without hitting anyone.i brought the car into the dealership and they told me they couldn't reproduce the issue and there was no code so they couldn't identify what was wrong with the car.i am suppose to call them if it happens again..

I have a 2007 jeep commander and while driving along the highway with my toddlers, i noticed that it had difficulty shifting from first gear to second gear.after a few seconds, it spontaneously shifted which caused the car to jerk.while this was happening, the check engine light came on. I've also noticed the "service park assist" light coming often.this car has made me feel unsafe and i don't exactly know what is wrong with it.i have noticed, however, that a few people have reported this same problem and some with worse problems of their car stalling. I don't want this problem to persist especially because i haul my children around in it.

Final drive control module (fdcm).vehicle had n23 and p73 recalls completed.sometime later, lost 4wd low.returned to dealer for re flash per fca recall for life.upon investigation, they cannot access fdcm due to a short; part needs replaced.called fca multiple times and they will not cover as its hardware as opposed to software recall.there are many instances, in my research, where their recall causes the loss of 4wd low.fca knows their "fix" was for a hardware issue and they fail to cover it.owned jeeps a long time and i'm done.i have six children so they maybe they can do the math on what this will cost them over generations!

The vehicle has stalled on me at least 30 times. It occurs while idling at a stop and also at slower speeds. After rainy days sometimes the vehicle won't start. The problem is intermittent so the dealer can't fix it. It sets off no engine codes. I have had many issues with the vehicle however this one is very unsafe.

Door lock actuator failed on driver's side front door. Door now makes a duck call/ buzz everytime it locks. Upon research this is a common problem with commanders and a recall should be required to fix this issue.

I was driving down the freeway and the engine down shifted hard and the engine light came on. I pulled over, turned my vehicle off, turned my vehicle back on, and it drove just fine. I went to get the engine light checked and the code that came back was the map sensor. I just replaced the map sensor two months prior.

Starting inseptember of 2013 while on theinterstate traveling at 70mph in the middle lane of 3, the vehicleshut off and the warning lights came on and we had to drift to the side of the road. We got of the road to the side put the jeep in park and after several tries it restarted. We have noticed on occasions after this, while slowing down to turn there is a clunk in the drivetrain. Soon after the clunk starts, that is when the jeep will shut off. It has happened at highway speed and at signal lights. After the first it shut off we took it to a jeep dealer and they put on in on the computed but said it didn't show anything. This has happened about 10 times since september and you take your like in your hands everytime you get on the interstate.

Vehicle will idle rough and stall after 15-45 seconds after starting. Will not stay running in p,n, or d.

This is in relation to previous complaints 10333965 and 10381374.same problem occurred again on oct 24, 2011.while driving on freeway at about 60 mph, the vehicle made a sudden and violent jerk but did not totally lose power like in most other situations.this problem has not occurred since february 2011 and seems to only occur in cold weather.

Electronic shift module went out which stalled my car while driving.

Since sept. 2012 i have been having problems with my vehicle not starting and the dashboard message is "transmission over heat" or "transmission temp over heat". It will not start at all. This past sunday it started but it would cut off like it was out of gas but there was a more than half full. I had to get towed for the 2nd time in a week and for the 5th time since 2012. No one seems to be able to find the problem and fix it permanently so this problem doesn't happen again. I am a disabled woman and can't afford to be stranded every time i get in my vehicle and have to sit and wait for a tow for over an hour. I also have to keep paying for repairs that haven't been working so that's draining me. Is there a reason for this problem and if someone has the answer please let me know so i can get this fixed once and for all. I have never had a problem like this with any vehicle i've ever had before.

2007 jeep commander limited.5.7l hemi.vehicle has stalled about half a dozen times in last two years.this usually happens at highway speeds (+/- 65 mph) and with no warning.engine quits and instrument panel light come on.i've (luckily) been able to pull safely off the road.when i shut off the ignition switch and wait a few seconds, i am able to start it back up and continue.i've brought this up to two separate jeep dealers, and they claim there is nothing wrong with it.

The car turn off are stall while driving. Normally occurs when foot is slight on the peddle however also attempts to stall at high speeds.a review of the internet shows that this life threatening problem is a frequent experience and a long term reported problem.i am happy to provide this information upon request.does there need to be a lose of life to obtain relief of this issue. Is this issue a result of demands by the epa to have these cars run at an ideal speed that is too low? is the epa also the reason for this problem?lives are at risk with no action being taken to protect consumers.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 70 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate as the vehicle jerked forward. The failure recurred two times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact mentioned when the vehicle was started from overnight, the vehicle would function as normal. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,000. The vehicle was repaired on 2-24-16.

My jeep stalls and will not start back dash says trans over heat but its not. Checked all the fuses and relaysnothing seems after some research this is a common problem with these jeeps the dealers can't fix it please help us!

My 2007 jeep commander has continued to have electrical problems.battery has been replaced and dealer has replaced ignition switch, wires within the wiring harness, starter and now they admit that they had to contact chrysler mechanics to fix the problem.three times it's been at the dealer for the repair and now subject to lemon law.there are numerous reports and more serious ones with jeep commanders losing power either after being parked then attempting to start or while driving, causing hazardous conditions.

This has happened repeatedly since purchasing vehicle in sept 2015.at highway speeds the vehicle either; a) lurches all electronics die and then quickly comes back to power, or b) the vehicle stalls. The vehicle has been to dealer for repair 4 times and service does not fix.

Electronic shift module out again!!

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle restarted and resumed normal operation. The failure recurred twice. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system); however, the part needed to perform the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was notified of the issue. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

Takata recall. I recieved a recall on my jeep commander about 8 months ago concerning engine shutting off while driving and potentially endangering my family as well as others. The recall stated when parts are available we would recieve a second recall to fix the trouble. About two weeks ago while driving my vehicle shut off on me and i almost hit another vehicle. I was making a right hand turn when it shut off and lost steering and brakes. I ended up having it towed home by tripple a and now it will not start. No fault codes present. After reading thousands of online reports of same trouble and jeep chrysler apparently not willing to address issue what do i do. If i did get it to run i would be afraid to drive it or my wife for fear of endangering her or my two young children. Please help all concerned

2007 jeep commander limited.vehicle began stalling with no warning at low speeds.jeep dealer has been unable to properly diagnose problem.computerjeep engineers have worked with the dealer and they also have been unable to properly diagnose problem.i have spent roughly $5000.00 replacing modules, etc that they think may be causing the problem.the only thing this has done is aggravate the problem.the last incident occurred while passing a double tanker truck on a two lane road, engine stalled at the time i was right next to the truck.only thing i could do was since i was going downhill, my momentum took me past the truck, i cut in front of him and made it over to the shoulder and stopped.vehicle would not start until i put it into park, pulled the key and restarted it. Vehicle has been in the dealer's shop more than out of it for the last 15 months-they're stymied and frustrated with jeep engineers.comment made by jeep's customer service representative: " on my, that's dangerous". It's very frustrating that jeep will not admit there is a problem with this model and fix it, especially since they have recalled other models/years with the same problem.also frustrating that they won't go online and listen to the people who are driving these problem vehicles.their comment is- you can't put any stock in what you read online.it's for sure that i will never purchase another jeep nor would i ever recommend them to anyone-except maybe someone i didn't like.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system) and stated that the part was not available within a reasonable time frame to schedule the recall repair.the dealer did not give a specific date for when the part would become available. The manufacturer was contacted and could not provide an estimated date for when the contacts vehicle would receive the recall repair. The contact stated that there was a sudden loss of power and the vehicle stalled more than twice. The dealer was notified of the failure and were not able to provide the part to repair the vehicle. The failure mileage was not available.

While driving my 2007 jeep commander all four gears would show them being highlighted (p-n-r-d) and when this would happen it would lose power and slow down to a point where there was a concern about being rear ended if it could not be pulled over. I took it to a dealer and they had to replace the electronic shift module. In looking on the internet this is not a isolated incident but is occurring nation-wide. The service manager even said that they get about one of these a month. This is just one dealer and appears to be nation-wide from what i saw on the internet. Both the dealer and chrysler have said that they would not do anything about except repair this problem at the consumers expense. This is definitely a problem that chrysler is ignoring but someday theymay be facing a law suit if their is a bad accident.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart after several attempts. The warning indicators were illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact stated that the vehicle was previously repaired per a recall. The recall information was unknown. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 212,000.

Vehicle has turned off multiple times at highway speeds causing near fatal collisions, dash board would light up completely and blink on and off as if the key were turned off and on. We make sure that there is sufficient clearance from the key to our knees and we have never accidentally hit the ignition. We have had this happen approx. 15-20 times over the last year and the most recent time last week with both our 8 and 9 year olds in the vehicle on the highway. We need some help on resolving this issue and we are afraid that we will have an accident if this continues to happen.

Cruise control still does not operate.single touch power window function no longer works on driver and passenger windows.while commuting to work on the toll road, rpms registered between 2500-3500 going at a speed of 75.the majority of the time, it was between 3000-3500.i did not have the air conditional running.i was not accelerating and was not going up or down inclines to cause the higher rpms.after exiting the toll road, i turned and while accelerating to around 40mph, the engine stalled and the check engine light came on.as i was on an inside lane, i had to slow down to allow a semi to pass on the outside lane in order to be able to pull over to the side of the road. I had to place in park, turn off the ignition switch, and turn it back on.check engine light remained on. My average mpg was 13.9, lower than it should be.leaving for my commute home, when i turned on the jeep, the check engine light was no longer lit.i noticed during the commute that the rpms were not as high as in the morning, and also my mpg increased by almost a mile per gallon, and that was running at the same speed and i also was running the air conditioning.upon exiting the toll road, the vehicle jerked heavily while downshifting from overdrive.a jerky motion continued for the remainder of my commute (ranging from 30-55 mph).please note that i do now take photos after the engine stalls to reflect the mileage and that the light is lit.i also now take pictures when the check engine light goes off.

I was driving down the road and the vehicle down shifted hard and the engine light came on. I pulled over turned my vehicle off and turned it back on and it started and drove just fine.

I have a 2007 jeep commander rocky mtn edition, this failure has happened 30 to 40 times with me.while driving down the highway regardless of speed, i loose all control to the throttle(gas pedal) if i floor it the tack doesn't move and i will slow to a stop, i pull to the side of the road put it in "n" and then back into "d" and it seems to be ok for awhile. When it happens the service park assist light flashes and all positions of the gears light up at the same time, p, r n d. I took it to the dealer and they said the code was the electronic shift control modula. I told them that this failure was noted all over the internet and asked if there was a recall on it. They laughed and told me they had never heard of the problem, $851.00 plus labor which i could not afford at this time., this is a major problem and definitely a safety issue when pulling into traffic especially. Or changing lanes on the interstate. Because of the number of complaints found about this failure and it is such a safety issue i though you should be notified. Will be waiting to here some response, respectfully.*ln

2007 jeep commander engine stalls out while driving intermittently.

Jeep complaint case # 31436177.i am having a no crank no start issue with bogus error message that reads transmission over temp.i have taken the vehicle to three different places and no one can identify why the vehicle will not start or find anything wrong with the transmission or wiring.......that is causing this issue. The jeep started having this issue intermittently in february 2017 and now it will not start at all as of april 2017.electrical mechanic is baffled and can not find any thing wrong with the jeep even though it does not start at all anymore.since february 2017 after this issue started i have had the computer updated to fix the problem, i have had the ignition switch replaced to solve this problem, i have had the transmission cooler lines and transmission fluid changed out to fix this problem and still the vehicle will not start intermittently and now will not start at all as of a week and a half ago.i was also told that it might be the key not being recognized by the jeep and would need to be reprogrammed but this is not the issue either.this is not the first issue i have had with this vehicle either.i also had the wiring harness catch fire inside the driver side door boot shortly after purchasing the vehicle that caused windows, locks....... Not to function and have had numerous issues with water pouring in from drains from the sunroof flooding the vehicle and ruining the carpet on both the driver and passenger side of the vehicle also causing a mold smell.

While driving on the highway at approximately 60 mph, jeep engine and all electrical and power systems shutoff for a second and turned back on. This happened a second time a few minutes later going the same speed. Very dangerous while driving on i75 through cincinnati with a lot of traffic.

Vehicle has a recall p41/nhtsa 14v-438 that was issued over a year ago. I received a second notice a couple weeks ago that the issue had finally been resolved and to make an appointment with my local jeep dealer. Dealer is still unable to address the recall and could not give a time when the vehicle could be serviced. The problems with the ignition have become more frequent over the last 3 months. Lights will turn on and off within the vehicle. I am unsure if turning signals and brake signals are affected by this problem.

The car turns off at bumps, or the slightest touch of the ignition switch. It is very dangerous and has caused me to run off the road many times. I have contacted several dealerships over the years and no one will fix it.they say there is no fix.i feel my life is in danger. If the car just turns off at the wrong time, it will kill me and others.why will no one repair this?find me a dealership that has the f'ing part before someone dies!!!!!

We have been having problem with this vehicle for several month with no results from chrsyler corporation or the dealership.when it rains water is coming inside of the vehicle.the seat belt is always wet, water is coming in through the panel, water is on the floor and in the cup holders.we have taken the vehicle in on several occasions and it has been label as a lemon.however, we have not had any result from chrysler.the radio would not turn off, the windows would not come down, and the door would not unlock.this was the last straw.water is constantly leaking inside of the vehicle from the roof.the vehicle has a mildew smell inside.however, this dilemma about to come to a close.but has taken a turn for the worse.i gregory hailey was informed that on monday, november 24, 2008 that i would not be able to take procession of a vehicle, because of some technicality because the dealership, chrysler financial and the third party individual that is handling this matter.i am deeply upset with chrysler as a whole in the way they havehandle this problem.this is a 2 year problem because it dates back to 2006 on this particular vehicle.if there is a need please feel free to contact me for further discussion.

Vehicle would not start. Drove 1.5 miles to gas station. Turned car off. Fueled. Car would not start. Message on display: transmission over temperature. 30 minutes later car started. Next incident occurred today (4/2/12). Car was parked for 10.5 hours before attempting to start. Car would not start. Message on display: transmission over temperature.car still won't start three hours later. Contacted chrysler customer service because of recall h03 (similar symptoms). They stated that my car was not part of the recall. If enough people have the same problem, then they will issue a recall.

Vehicle would not start.radio and head lights will go on.all you would hear is a click.checked battery and still will not start.took it to a mechanic and they did a diagnostic and nothing showed up.the mechanic had it for a two days and it started.they could not find anything wrong with vehicle.the incident happened twice.looked on line and noticed other people had same problem with vehicle not starting.also, having water come in through the side door handles.i'm not the only person with these problems.no wonder they discontinued this vehicle.

My 2007 commander has a p41 recall. Fri.dec 9,2016 ,the wolfchase jeep tech informed me that the ignition switch was replaced, but car still will not start. The tech told me the jeep needed a orc module to start the jeep. Part not available and needed 3-5 days to order and repair. My out of pocket expense will be $510-$520. The jeep was parked on sat. Dec 9. I attempted to start the jeep, would not start.please advise. Thanks

I have a 2007 jeep commander 4.7 liter 6 cylinder engine that has stalled numerous times. Each time i have been driving at different speeds, a couple times on the highway, a couple times on residential streets. I loose acceleration, power steering, power brakes, and turn signals. This is a dangerous situation, and, according to my research is happening to many jeep owners. I have taken it to two different jeep dealers numerous times and they cannot find a problem. I have contacted chrysler and there is no recall as of now. Something needs to be done about this situation before someone really gets hurts or killed.

I was notified of a recall notice on my commander in june. The recall (n23) states the car can shift into neutral while in the parked position. My car has shifted into neutral twice while moving, once while i was traveling 25 mph and once at 70 mph. I contacted the dealer and chrysler. The part is currently unavailable to fix the recall issue. They informed me there is nothing i can do but wait. They do not have an expected date for the part's arrival. I'm left without a vehicle, and they do not cover loaner cars for their recall.

Had the prescribed n23 recall done because a safety hazard was possible ,yet the safety hazards seemed to come thereafter, the vehicle has been back multiple times without any resolution.seems that the dealer is very evasive and it always leads to something else been the problem and now the said part is on a national backorder, would this not indicate a national issue with regards to these vehicles.the 4x4 system is now malfunctioning.

My 2007 hemi commander purchased aug 30th 2012 had a transmission problem yesterday..i can not drive it all at, it is parked in my driveway. What should i do?

Purchased the jeep in january of 2011.within a month of owning it, it would randomly stall while driving down the road.when the jeep stalls, all of the lights in the dashboard illuminate.you can push down on the gas pedal and the rpm's go up, but the speed still decreases until the vehicle stops.it will cut right back on after stopping and cutting the engine off.the vehicle will randomly do this no matter the weather conditions, speed, or anything else.took it to a mechanic and they couldn't find anything wrong with it and i was told they would have to recreate the problem themselves to fix it.since it randomly messes up under no special circumstances, i couldn't leave the vehicle with them while they drove it every day trying to recreate the problem.jeep has done this probably 10 times since i have owned it.i called a dealership and gave my vin and was told no recalls on this vehicle.yet i am continuously reading about the same exact issue with other people's 2007 jeep commanders.

Jeep loses power and shuts down while driving in city and on the highway at random speeds. Also will shut down while stationary. Causes loss of power steering and brakes. Check engine light has not come on. The only way to restart is to fully place in park and completely remove the key. Violent shut down and transmission is not shifting correctly. I have had the asd relay replaced and wiring checked with no fix. Very dangerous with my 3 year old in the car.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. After the vehicle stalled, all the warning lights illuminated. Updated02/12/16*lj the consumer stated the ignition switch could be the cause of the failure

Intermittent starting issue. The jeep will drive fine but once you turn it off it is a coin toss whether it will start again. I have found that if you crawl underneath the jeep and push in on the yellow wire connected to the starter, it will immediately start. It is obviously a poorly designed connector, as it is obviously not weather proof but it is in an area that needs to be water tight. I have seen many complaints about this same issue online, but when you call the dealerships they tell you they have never heard of this issue.

The 2007 jeep commander we have at times has no acceleration. It lasts about 10 to 15 seconds.it is very dangerous. If you pull into traffic you never know if the jeep will accelerate or not. Usually does it when it hasn't been running long.i do know chrysler has a case number for this issue on there dealer connect networkcase number [xxx] in my opinion with what they say is wrong on that case study they should be contacting owners to bring them in for a flash of the computer system. It seems like a simple fix for them that will help avoid accidents. It has been doing it a few weeks and happens every couple days. Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

My jeep keeps shutting off while driving for no reason.. We have to keep replacing the battery and can't figure out why... The power windows aren't functioning properly

After taking the jeep commander in to a dealer ship to get recall nhtsa campaign number 13v175000 fixed the vehicle has been wanting to turn off at random.it has happened while in park or even driving the vehicle.the 1st time it happen, i was accelerating while getting on the high way and i was going about 40 mph and the engine lost all power and it was hard to steer. It lasted about 4 sec and then stopped.the next time it happen was going down the high way about 65 mph with the cruise on and it did the same thing and the last time it did it the vehicle was parked.each time it happens it only last about 4-5 secs.it just started doing it right after the dealer ship reprogrammed the ecm to fix the recall.

My 2007 jeep commander is having a problem with stalling.the car has stalled on me twice since i purchased it in december of 2009.i do not know what is causing it to stall, i even took it to a jeep dealership and was told there is nothing wrong with the vehicle.the vehicle shuts down while i am driving and i am unable to use the brake or the gas pedal.luckily i was on a residential street both times with no traffic and was able to avoid any other vehicles, although i did come close to striking a stopped vehicle.i am concerned with my children's and my safety while driving this vehicle.

While starting truck park assist message came up (check park assist) all gear boxers highlighted on dash , check engine light came on, put truck into drive ,banged harded ,loss power, shut off park assist message gone ,check engine light still on, highlights at gear boxes gone , put lost power.. Been reading about this on web sites seems to be a problem with a module read about people stalling, i have not yet but this has happen 3 times to my truck so far.. 2007 jeep commander with 37,000 miles only i dont want it to stall and get rear ended on the highway and get hurt or anyone else is there a national problem with this happening?? seems to be a hazard to being safe....

Beginning in october 2009 when the vehicle had less than 36k on it the engine stalled once.i thought maybe gas or something....then two more times in october while stopped.gets worse by the week until it is actually stalling when driving at 60mph.....have had it in for service on several occasions and they have replaced several components and still will stall. This is 2012 and since it all began i have filed 2 cases with chrysler, on the first go round, they thought they fixed it and again a few weeks later it began to stall.my daughter, 6 years of age, in the car and i am taking her to school and the engine stalls and we almost were hit by a vehicle traveling in excess of 55 mph, if that vehicle did not get out of the way it would have directly hit where my daughter was sitting.she began to cry and she will no longer ride in the commander.we are all afraid to drive it. It has stalled on us i know over 100 times in the past 4 years.i have begged chrysler to replace the vehicle.i loved my commander i have had several jeeps and this is so upsetting.chrysler seems to deny they have any clue of these problems with 2007 commanders and i see several postings on this website alone of the same issue.it is dangerous to drive this vehicle.someone is going to be seriously injured.please make them step up to the plate and own up to this before it is too late for someone. I will never believe it is actually fixed and they make us drive it until it so bad that they can make it stall. In the mean time, we are in danger daily. Please help us and advise us how to get out of this vehicle and into a safe one for my family.

I purchased a 2007 jeep commander in october of 2006.at about 2,000 miles, i experienced an electrical failure that caused many gauges to come on or go off.i did lose my headlights & the transmission downshifted.i pulled over, powered off the vehicle & restarted.the vehicle has done this same or similar problem 4 times now.i've filed the lemon law in indiana, but it was denied.the last time i experienced the electrical fault, my seat starting moving forward for a few seconds while i was driving the car.the vehicle has registered fault codes every time that i saved.each time, the dealer can not duplicate & performs computer flash updates in hopes of correcting problem.in my opinion, the vehicle is dangerous to operate.

Tachometer registered high rpms for speed. Speed ranged from 30-70mph. Vehicle would shift in a jerky manner. Contacted dealership and arranged to have it looked at on 8-7.

Following up on this.it appears mr. [xxx] may no longer be with dot / nhtsa[xxx]to: [xxx]subject: fw: nhtsa inquiry - 2007 jeep commanderdate: wed, 9 feb 2011 20:19:20 -0700dear mr. [xxx]:this problem has continued and even become more frequent -- probably occurring about 8 times in the past 2 months and approx 6 times in the past three weeks.it seems to happen during cold weather (no incidents from about about july 2010 to december 2010).it has also happened at slower speeds than the 55-65 mph described below occurring twice at speeds under 45 mph in the past month. I've also had a few incidents where the vehicle hesitates but keeps running.usually it just quits completely, though. This is all very frustrating because jeep has always told us nothing is wrong.[xxx] --------------------------------------------------------------------------------from: [xxx]to: [xxx]subject: re: nhtsa inquiry - 2007 jeep commanderdate: fri, 2 jul 2010 21:15:42 -0600i've answered in the body of the message below.[xxx]subject: nhtsa inquiry - 2007 jeep commanderdate: fri, 2 jul 2010 12:54:57 -0400from: [xxx]to: [xxx]dear [xxx], here at office of defects investigations at the u.s. Department of transportation, we have received your complaint on your 2007 jeep commander with stalling problem. We currently received more complaint on this stalling issue and we are collecting information on this issue. Could you take some time and please answer the following questions regarding your incident. We are sending these questions to all other complainants as well. Thank you!1.when you said 'vehicle stalled', did engine stalled or just limped (did the brake and steering lost power?)? engine lost all power and dashbinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

It is currently stalling, while sitting at street lights. Also, the gear shift model including starter and wiring.

3rd row seat belts break and are unusable whenever the 3rd row seats are folded down.the plastic piece is pushed over the metal latching piece of the seat belt.they have been fixed and are now broken again, now the 3rd row seat cannot be used for passengers.water from rain is coming through the doors, puddling at the base of the door.the jeep was in park, when i attempted to put the car in reverse it would not go, all of the prd were lit up with blocks around them.i turned off the jeep and i was able to put the car in reverse.

Sunroof leaks and windows leak cause water to flood into the passenger side of the truck and rear of the truck.also cause a shortage in the electrical system and shuts off the radio.driver side window module has a shortage when lowering and raising windows the lights flash and radio goes in and out.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving at various speeds, the engine stalled without warning numerous times. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

On two separate occurrences so far, the jeep has randomly stalled out at highway speeds in traffic.accelerator and steering loose function.other times it has nearly stalled but regained operation.check engine light comes on with code for large vacuum leak?dealer was unable to find anything wrong and is currently evaluating again.vehicle starts back up fine after pulling to side of road and removing and reinserting key. Safety issue to stall at highway speeds and lose power steering!this does not appear to be the first occurrence as there are many other complaints and a recall/investigation which noted it in 2007 vehicles but only issued a pcm recall for 2006 vehicles.

Driving at 55 mph and suddenly lost power and stalled.the oil light came on as well as the anti lock brake light.i coasted to the side of the road and came to a stop. I started the vehicle right back up and drove straight to the dealership.they could not duplicate the problem but found a stored code that they sent to chrysler for clarification.dealership said they would contact me when they heard from chrysler what the problem is.

I was driving home from picking up my daughter from a school event when suddenly my car slowed down on its own down to 10 mph.then the car completely stopped.on the control console it only read "service park assist"and the drive position controls where all highlighted and boxed out (drnp).i lost all control of the vehicle other than turning the wheel.i tried to accelerate by pressing the gas and it just revved the engine and did nothing else.i swerved off the road and hit a median that took out the tire and left damage to the left of the car under carriage. I had to shift the gear into park and back to drive in order for the car to start up again.i took the car to a local jeep chrysler dodge service depot and had it ran for a diagnostic for at which time they told me that it was a common issue found in this model and earlier models and that it wasn't covered by the power train that the vehicle would need $1100.00 in repairs to fix an electronic transformer shift modulator.i had just purchased the car on october 31 from a jeep chrysler dodge dealership and less than three weeks later the car is for crap. And the dealership refused to fix the problem and jeep has not issued a recall for this issue but they have for the 2006 model.this problem is life threatening.it can occur at anytime at any speed.if i were on a expressway my children and i would probably be dead.jeep needs to be pursed for this issue and forced to fix the damage on any vehicles reporting this issue.

The above information was for the first time this incident occurred.while driving at any speed the carwill stall out of no where due to the electronic shift module.i had it replaced 11/08 which was only a year after the car was made.it is completely acting up again and the module needs replaced again.i understand that they have not recalled this issue but there are over 145 complaints of the same issue but yet on your website it says a recall is necessary when there is a safety-related defect in the vehicle or equipment.a safety defect is defined as a problem that exists in a motor vehicle or item of motor vehicle equipment that: poses a risk to motor vehicle safety.examples of defects considered safety-related:steering components that break suddenly causing partial or complete loss of vehicle control.accelerator controls that may break or stick. Critical vehicle components that break, fall apart, or separate from the vehicle, causing potential loss of vehicle control or injury to persons inside or outside the vehicle.along with the above i have children and if they are inside this vehicle while something happens just wait until i slap the lawsuit along with the many others as a result of this issue that nobody is doing nothing about. I almost was rear ended on the expressway by vehicles going 75 mph because of the car stalling/not wanting to accelerate!i want answers and i want them now!

Ignition switch out??electrical system has gone haywire!radio doesn't work.completely died on me and could not restart for 30 minutes...arrrrrr.

It was a rainy day. I pulled my car in to the garage and shut off the engine. Pulled out the key and entered my house. The garage is connected to my home. I came back to the garage some time later to find the engine was still on. I ran to the drivers seat to see no key in the ignition and verified the remote engine feature wasn't engaged, it is designed to turnoff after the car door is open for a short time. The engine wouldn't shut off. I brought it to my husband, who drove it a bit and could not get the engine off. Eventually it self corrected. A truly dangerous issue since this car is parked in my home.we brought it to the dealer about 4 times, and while the engine hasn't done that again, various parts of the car turn on spontaneously. A single head light, a single brake light, all the lights. It seems the electrical system no longer has full control of the vehicle and that is dangerous. I believe my car is just one of many 2007 jeeps that are having enormous electrical problems, my case just illustrates how dangerous this could be. A car engine running spontaneously is unacceptable and it is clear this is just a symptom of a common problem to all these jeeps.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 5 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to restart after several attempts. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system) however, the part needed was unavailable to perform the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure was 40,000.

I have a 2007 jeep commander with 32k miles.the vehicle has started stalling occasionally when we come to a stop.the truck starts right up again.the truck has the hemi 5.7. We have experienced 4 episodes so far.

Vehicle shuts off while driving.various conditions.idling, cruising at highway speeds, accelerating, decelerating, etc. Must shut key off to reset engine before the vehicle will start again.this has happened at least 20 times with no check engine light illuminating.it has become a huge safety issue since all power is lost at any speed.

The 2007 jeep commander's engine and power shut off at highway speed (approx 65 mph) on i-95.the power steering and power brakes were not operational.my wife had to cross four lanes of traffic to stop the vehicle on the side of the road to attempt to restart the vehicle.the key was not bumped or touched when the vehicle shut off.the vehicle did restart after coming to a stop.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact experienced a no start condition when attempting to start the vehicle. The failure occurred without any warning. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the ignition switch had to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that the failure recurred several other times after the repair. The vehicle was taken to an independent dealer the second time where the battery wires and cables were connected together. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 91,684.sj

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact stated that there was transmission fluid leaking from the bottom of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed the transmission's electrical connector seals needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. After the vehicle was repaired per nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system), the key fob became inoperable. The fob wastaken back to the dealer and reset; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 126,000.

I was driving down the road and i was unable to accelerate my 2007 jeep commander. I looked at the gas gage to find out that it said it was on e. I thought that was odd because i had just put 30.00 into the gas tank. I was passing by a gas station and turned in real quick. I then noticed my gauges that told me the outside temp was black and all other electronic things were off. Then as i was turning into the gas station the power steering locked up on me and i almost ran directly into the gas pumps. I slammed on my breaks and was able to stop in time. When the power steering locked up that?s when i realized the car had just turned off previous and it wasn't the gas. I put the car in park, turned the key all the way off and restarted the car. The car started right back up again. This is only one of a few problems i?m having in regards to the car going out of control.

Tachometer registers high for speed, shifts in a jerky manner.dealership scanned and found no codes. Found vacuum leak at iac motor. Replaced idle air control motor. Rechecked operation and test drove.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving at approximately 50 mph, the vehicle stalled. After the vehicle stalled, all the warning lights illuminated. The contact was able to restart the vehicle on the first attempt. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system). The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 164,200. Updated02/12/16*lj the consumer stated the ignition switch could be the cause of the failure

This complaint is in connection with a 2007 jeep commander 4x4.the vehicle stalled twice while on a highway service road.it is my belief that the placement and design of the ignition may be to blame for this and other stalls (which are now under nhtsa investigation).it appears that if you hit your knee on the key while it is in the ignition you can easily turn the truck off while it is in operation.please review the placement of the ignition and its design as it appears to offer little resistance to glances from the driver's knee.it seems to easily turn the truck off. (date of incident below is approximate.)

On several occasion while driving, the engine has completely cut out.i have concluded, luckily without accident or injury, that the cause was my inadvertently hitting the ignition key, located in this vehicle perilously close to the driver's right knee, and effectively turning the ignition switch to the off position. It tooka slight touch for this to occur, especially with other keys or such dangling down from the ignition key.for a less experienced driver, such as my daughter this sudden and immediate loss of power on the open road could , d at some point,will-- cause panic and perhaps much worse.this needed addressed.i have read on internet sites/blocs about others experiencing the same thing.

Ignition key is located in a dangerous location whereas the driver's knee can bump into the key while driving, which then stalls the vehicle and locks the steering wheel, creating an extremely hazardous situation.the only recourse is to put the car in neutral and restart the car while on the road in traffic.

When driving on freeway at high speeds the car shuts off and then back on again, when it happensthe engine stumbles and the engine warning light comes on for a second and then back off. It makes for a dangerous condition. No codes come up though. Took it to the dealership and they put a new ignition key switch in but it still has the problem, they say there is no recalls

We have only owned this used jeep for not even two months, bought from us auto sales oct 18 2013, vehicle began jerking around all over out of the blue could barely drive it almost caused us to get into an accident, had to pull over multiple times, took for service, said it was not transmission or engine, see on internet five recalls, have read many people having issues, today vehicle freezes up while driving twice, decelerates powers down to almost a stall out in traffic while my five kids are in this vehicle with me! very dangerous, read on internet multiple places and people having same issues and chrysler not fixing problems??? why not do they want to be sued or cause an accident? my vehicle just started doing this now two months after buying it used!!!!! twice in one day freezes up while trying to drive it, powers down wont accelerate, like its stuck in one gear wont go loses power like it will shut off suddenly have to pull over and turn off and restart to get it to stop doing this....make them fix it before it causes accidents for not just me but everyone else that is having this problem search the internet you will find manyare having this same issue!!!!!! do your job! i expect something to be done about this at once! and remedied....do i take this to the dealer to have it fixed? or back where i bought it????? i am reading that chrysler is refusing to address the issues and multiple incidents are found all over the internet just search it up under make and model and year of the vehicle! and type in loss of power stalling and it says the remedy is a pcm module or something? i really need this addressed at once and told how to fix this as we just bought this vehicle.

While i was driving the car automatically shut off and will not turn back on for a while. Other incidents where the ignition will nit work at all, the car can be completely off and the back window will automatically opened. While the car is running all the light begin to turn on and off in the car.

While commuting home, esp/bas light lit up.remained on until the following morning.

While idling in a driveway, the check engine and esp/bas lights came on.the vehicle did not stall.shortly afterward, when driving about 55-60 mph, i realized the cruise control no longer works.i tried multiple times to turn it on, but it does not come on any longer.the esp/bas light went off about 10 miles later, after i stopped to fuel up the vehicle.the check engine light remained on.about an hour later and another 35 miles later, after making a stop, the check engine light did not come back on when restarting the vehicle.later in the afternoon, while it was in the neutral gear and going through an automatic carwash, the vehicle stalled twice.the rpms were constantly up and down between 500 and 1500 rpms.

When shifting out of park, jeep will shift hard and lights around prnd are illuminated and error message "service park assist system" is displayed. When this happens, you have to put car back in park and turn it to the off position to reset. Sometimes this clears it,sometimes it doesn't. After about 4 times in a row, the check engine light comes on and stays on for days at a time. This issue also happens when the car is in drive and you are actually driving down the road. It has caused me to be rear ended once and almost rear ended many more times. Luckily when i was rear ended, we were in a parking lot and only traveling at a slow speed so there was no damage/injuries. This is beginning to happen on a daily basis and it is only a matter of time before someone is killed due to jeep's denial there is a problem and refusal to fix the issue. I have taken my car into the dealer multiple times but they are unable to recreate the issue and therefore say there is no problem. An auto parts store was able to pull a code one time (u0404) but couldn't determine the meaning behind the code and couldn't tell me what to do to fix the problem. I have found through a prior google search that this issue has been reported before and that a prior recall was issued for this problem. Of course, my car and apparently everyone else's weren't part of the recall and are therefore still not repaired considering the part to fix the problem costs around $1,000 before labor charges! i hope someone can force jeep to fix these vehicles before someone loses their life because of it!

After having ignition switch fixed due to recall and battery, alternator and starter checked, we can not find an issues. It was serviced by a jeep dealer. My jeep will not start or will start and then after parking, will not start again. It leaves me stranded in parking lots and wherever i park it. This only happens after parking and turning jeep off.

Vehicle had the ignition switch fixed with the prior recall, but i am still having an issue with the engine light which has turned on and the vehicle slows down and seems to go into neutral while driving. This occurs around 20 mph, local roads and luckily not on a highway yet and if i press the accelerator nothing occurs and the traction control light flashes. My truck has not come up under the recall for this issue but i feel that it is related especially after reading all of the complaints, please help.

My jeep is losing power while driving.this has happened on numerous occasions and when i take it to be looked at, i can never get a straight answer.i continue being told it's transmission issue (transmission oil cooler, fluid, lines). My car slightly jerks into get when shifting from part to another gear, and the parking assist message flashes on.after reading all the similar complaints online it seems the issue may be with the shift module.with so many complaints it would be nice if this could be a recall and corrected.

Nhtsa recall number: 14v-438 recall date: september 3, 2014manufacturer recall number: p41"summary:some jeep commander and jeep grand cherokee vehicles may experience an unintended change in ignition switch position while driving.safety risk:this may result in loss of engine power, power steering, and braking assist increasing the risk of a crash and disabling one or more of the vehicles safety features including the frontal airbags.remedy:chrysler intends to repair vehicles free of charge (parts and labor). However, the part required to provide a permanent remedy for this condition is currently not available. Chrysler is making every effort to provide the part as quickly as possible.recall status: recall incomplete. Remedy not yet available"i have had several incidents where all electrical other than the power train fails, including air-conditioning. If i jiggle my ignition switch everything comes back on. If this recall has such a high risk level of crash, injury, and even death, why hasn't jeep come up with a remedy. I worked in the united states army combat readiness/safety center which deals with accident investigation and truly understand the risk of injury or even death that comes with this potential materiel failure. If i were the ceo for jeep or worked in their safety division, i would not put this off any longer. It has been over a year since the discovery of this potential materiel failure and jeep has done nothing. I recommend that jeep is proactive to this failure rather than reactive.

Driving 65-70 on toll road. Passing semis when check engine light came on, engine stalled, lost power steering. Had to pull over to the left shoulder of the road. Shifted into park, turned ignition off, restarted. Check engine light stayed on. Drove home. Noticed esp/bas light was lit. Did not drive vehicle until the following monday. Check engine light was no longer on.

This is the 4th time that the car has shut off while driving and cannot move the steering wheel to pull over to the side of the road.the big rig truck behind us almost crashed into the car due to the engine shutting off while we are traveling with the flow of traffic.with the engine shutting off, the steering wheel is locked making it impossible to get out of the way of other vehicles.the car eventually reduces speed down to a halt.i have to place the jeep in park and restart the ignition. The truck driver was yelling profanities out the window, telling me to learn how to drive and showing obscene gestures while i have two children in the car with me.i am scared to drive this vehicle because i do not know when it will shut down on me again.the only advice i get from chrysler is to not have any other keys on the ring and to not have my knee hit the ignition key while driving.

Car shuts off sitting at idle (stop light)i've owned this car for less than a month and it has stalled in traffic 4 times!

About three years ago, my 2007 jeep commander 4x4, 4.7l, limited, inexplicably stalled while i was driving on the freeway at about 60 miles per hour. Since that first stalling episode, this has occurred at least 30 more times. It happens in the city, the freeway, during acceleration, and under normal driving conditions. I have brought this vehicle to the jeep dealer on numerous occasions. Each time, they tell me they can't duplicate the problem. Furthermore, they tell me that this is an isolated problem that they haven't heard about before. Asimple internet search shows that this is a widely reported problem and owners report the same explanations from the dealerships.

Driving at 55 mph engine stalled and shuts down.

When shifting from park to drive, or reverse to drive, the engine stalls and it takes almost a minute for the shift to actually occur so i can drive.

This has happened repeatedly since purchasing vehicle in sept 2015.at highway speeds the vehicle either; a) lurches all electronics die and then quickly comes back to power, or b) the vehicle stalls. The vehicle has been to dealer for repair 4 times and service does not fix.

This will be the 3rd electric shift module put in this vehicle.the vehicle lost power then stalled in traffic.the vehicle, while stopped in traffic, would surge.if the brake wasn't applied, it would have struck the vehiclein front of mine.when the problem first started, the incidents of stalling and surging were minimal.as time went on, the incidents were more frequent.the previous switch module (21030400768004143-af) was replaced ($1067.00/dealer only part/repair cost).the latest module (dealer only part cost me $1008.04 (part & repair cost). This is the 2nd report to you on this vehicle.

This morning i was driving into work, when my car wasn't getting enough power to move. Each time i would give it gas, it would sputter at me. This has been a constant problem since i bought a year ago... I would like to know what the problem is so i can fix it

I was driving my 2007 jeep commander limited edition 4x4 in city traffic driving approximately 25 mph in stop and go traffic when it stalled for no apparent reason. The check engine light also came on. After restarting the engine, the problem went away. This stalling and engine light warning has since happened at least 100 more times over the last 4 years. Dealer and independent mechanics are unable to troubleshoot the problem. The most recent event happened on 6/8/14. Complete engine stall on interstate highway. Vehicle was towed 65 miles to home town. Mechanic replaced alternator and battery. Engine started fine, ran well for 2 days and then engine light came back on with intermittent stalling and rough idling. Jeep is at dealer as we speak. Dealer stated they cannot duplicate the problem and will keep the vehicle overnight and try to duplicate the problem tomorrow.

I was driving down the road and the vehicle down shifted hard and the engine light came on. I pulled over turned my vehicle off and turned it back on and it started and drove just fine.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 160,000.

We were on interstate 57 going 65 mph when all of a sudden the jeep jerked like it was down shifting and just shut off. We had a semi behind us which almost hit us but we were able to coast onto the side of the side of the road. We then turned the key off and then restarted the car and it started okay but the engine light was on. The engine light finally went off by itself. Since then when driving the jeep jerks and acts like it down shifting and the rpms goes way up. We are afraid to drive it on a highway because shutting off like that on the interstate could cause a serious accident. I am reading several complaints from others who own 2007 jeep commanders so there has to be something faulty! this could cause a serious accident!!! we just purchased this from a dealer a month ago for our 16 year old twins. Thank god they were not driving it when that happened.

While driving at slow speeds, the vehicle stalls out, obviously resulting in a loss of power steering & brakes. This has happened 50+/- times over the last 2 years of my ownership. The problem has intensified over the last 2 weeks, but would always re start after shifting into park. Last night (10/8/2017) it happened again. This time while merging onto a highway at 55 mph. The vehicle suddenly lost power as i coasted to the side of the highway. This time it would not start & i had to have the vehicle towed. Through on-line research, this is a common problem on the jeep commander (4.7l) dating back to when the vehicles were new. The fix for the problem varies greatly. Given the timeline for this problem, its obvious this is a problem that daimler chrysler (now fiat chrysler usa) is aware of & makes no attempt at a solution.

On or about the above date the rpms on my vehicle raced up and the car suddenly lunged forward, it happened again a few times afterward without any check engine codes. I had it checked back then and nothing was found because no codes were present.this happened a couple of times a year since i owned it, but noticed it happens when it's raining.today 3/12/2013 (heavy rain) my wife was stopped at a light and it raced & lunged forward just missing a pedestrian. I immediately brought it to a neihborhood jeep dealer & explained the severity of the situation. He was very accomodating and took it in immediately. After a few hours in the shop & a test drive ,again, nothing found. There were no engine codes present, all other components were with-in specs. I asked if this is a similar problem to the 2006 recall, he said possibly, but this vin. Is not under recall.(i belive the 2006 recall was the power train control module.)i am not sure were to go with this but this needs to be resolved by jeep before an accident happens.

I was driving at a steady pace on the freeway and the engine light came on. I pulled over and the power steering went out as well as the brakes. I turned off my vehicle, restarted it, and was able to drive with no problems afterwards.

Vehicle stalled when attempting to take off from a red light.it would not initially restart, but a full power cycle of the car resolved the issue.reporting incident as many others have reported similar problems and want to add to the data.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle hesitated when the accelerator pedal was depressed and stalled. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact waited approximately ten minutes and the vehicle restarted normally. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (zimmerman motors, 1301 market street, sunbury, pa 17801), but they could not determine the cause of the failure. The contact stated that the failure occurred every time the vehicle was driven for the past four months. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was taken to three independent mechanics, but the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.

Instruments lights off and on(battery, check engine, air bags, breaks, etc), transmission overheat information light, vehicle shuts off while driving or won't start or loose power, computer tellsmechanics a new module needed, but new module do not fix the problem. Had transmission services, and mechanic check out, but nothing worked.

While driving on freeway, vehicle engine suddenly stalled. Was able to move off the freeway, vehicle restarted immediately when key was moved to off position, and then to start. No error codes came up on dash readout. Was able to complete journey with no other stalling at that time. Vehicle since has continuously and randomly has stalled at highway speeds as well as being stopped at a stop light or stop sign. Again no codes have come up on dash readout. This dangerous situation continues to occur. Vehicle has been updated on services needed, diagnostics taken; but still problem persists with no resolution from jeep dealer and service technicians.

Mid september after droppingkids off at schoolthe jeep died twice right in a row.the jeep also started this weird hard down shifting in certain gears.a few days later the jeep died again after i got on the highway, while i was driving 70 mph.since then the shifting is getting worse.a check engine light comes on when it dies, the codes were read by an auto parts store.there were multiple codes, electronic position sensor, intake, and manifold.i tried to file a complaint with chrysler but they will not complete it until i pay their authorized dealerships to read the codes.after resetting computer it has not come back on.the jeep still shifts erratically, and i discover that the etc warning light does not work.why???.i don't know we have had this car for 5 years and i have never seen the light.something is definitely wrong.please help.also neither my husband or myself are tall enough for our knee to even think about bumping the ignition switch.

Vehicle will idle rough and stall after 15-45 seconds after starting. Will not stay running in p,n, or d.

During commute to work, vehicle shifting in a jerky manner and rpms are high and erratic for speed of vehicle.at 10:00, when driving to a meeting, when first putting jeep into gear, the gear display "d" disappeared and "4" was in its place, concerning me that the overdrive went out (i've already had a solenoid pack replaced due to the overdrive "going out" - happened about 2 years ago). Vehicle did not want to move forward as i was attempting to pull out onto the street. Fortunately, it moved forward and i reached my destination.during commute home, about 5 miles into my drive on the toll road, the check engine light came on and the engine stalled.had to pull over to the side of the road, place in park, turn off ignition switch, turn back on, and resumed my commute home.

Driving at 65mph when check engine light came on and engine stalled. Lost power steering and had to pull over to the side of the road. Shifted into park, turned ignition off, then restarted it. Check engine light remained on and did not run right. Vehicle would not shift into overdrive and rpms were running very high. Drove to dealership.dealer found one stored code, found defective solenoid pack.

On at least 4 occasions my jeep has stalled (not sure of dates).it has happened mainly when i try to start moving from a stop.it has not stalled while driving at high speeds.i just thought it was an air lock or bad gas but after reading the many complaints and dangerous situations i see it must be the ignition switch problem.i have not been notified by chrysler i just found out about it when my jeep was in for repairs on another problem.i research this then called the dealer and he said yes there is a problem but they do not have the parts just wait till they come in then chrysler will send me a notice.they have known about this for years.is this going to be another gm type situation with people killed.lets get the parts and fix them.

I drove to a gas station about 5 miles from my home to fuel up. After fueling up, i tried to start the engine and it ran rough for less than a second and then shut off. I tried to start it again and it ran but had a loud knock so i immediately shut the engine off. I towed it to the local dealership who said i had a dropped valve seat and would need to replace the engine. The odometer was at 106,000 miles when this happened.

Vehicle continues to stall.at 40mph, engine surges then drops in rpm.drops rpm to the point of stalling.idle air control (iac) valve, throttle position sensor (tps), and exhaust gas recirculation (egr) valves have been replaced simultaneously with no change.only way to drive is to manually shift to keep rpms above 2,000 while driving and to use both the brake and accelerator pedals to keep rpm above 1,200 when at stops.no obd2 service codes are ever triggered.

I purchased the 2007 jeep commander with the 5.7 hemi in spring 2013 and a few months later coming to a stop it just shut off.at first i thought maybe some water had gotten into the engine compartment since it was raining and shorted something.started back up and thought all was fine. Well recently it has been happening more often, whether it is wet or dry out and at any speed or whether the cruise control is on or off.it also seems to try to shut down while feathering the gas pedal at highway speeds from accelerating to coast.on one occasion this summer at highway speed pulling our camper it shut down and i had to coast to a stop along the side of the highway to restart.something has to be done.i have children, as i am sure many here with the same complaint do.

Thanks

The car will slow down and the service park light will pop on then the engine light will come on. This has been happening since the day i purchased the car. I have taken into the shop plenty of times and they keep telling me nothing is wrong with it. Over the past few years it has only gotten worse. It has done this on the highway while going 75 miles an hour. I have had to pull off the side of the road wait like 5 minutes before i can take off again.this is really becoming a problem and i am afraid to even put my grandbaby in the car with me because i'm afraid this will cause an accident. I have just recently went to dealership and they want to charge me for them to check my car and i have been telling them this issue from the day i had my car and my warranty was still in place, but they continued to tell me nothing is wrong with it.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact stated that while driving approximately 50 mph, the rpms increased and there was a loss of acceleration power. The failure occurred twice but the engine failed to start the second time. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to a mechanic and was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 85,000.

This has happened to me several times in the two years i've owned this vehicle. Every time i take it to the shop the mechanics say they cannot replicate the issue so cannot fix it. First the check engine light will come on and no codes will appear when run. A couple days later (mostly when driving on the highway, or any speed above 30mph) i will be driving as usual and begin to increase speed on the on ramp for the interstate and the engine will tap out at 45mph. I will press the gas pedal to the floor and the engine will not rev and the rpm's will not increase. I tried to put the car in neutral and back into drive and nothing changed with the engine. All the while i had my one year old child in the car with me. Every time i try to research what is wrong with my jeep i just see the same complaint from thousands of people. This is obviously an issue and needs to be fixed immediately! i don't care if they have to give me a new jeep i need something safe for my family!

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving various speeds, the vehicle sputtered and stalled. The vehicle was able to restart after the first attempt. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 125,000. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the repair. The contact had not experienced a failure related to the recall.

Driving home from meeting approx 10pm.all seemed to be running smoothly. Sudden 'clunk' noise from engine compartment. Engine stalled.coasted to side of road.all dash lights came on as they do at engine startup...indicating engine not running.once stopped placed vehicle in neutral. Turned off key and turned back on.engine started immediately and i completed my trip without further incident.the key did not fall out nor do i have anything attached to it.this is the 5.7liter engine.a review of this issue on the internet once home has returned 100s of complaints from people who have had the same problem with no dealer resolution in any of the cases i read.i do not know if this is related to the outstanding key issue.i purchased this car yesterday so i cannot speak to whether it has happened before.this could be a very serious situation were it to happen in commute time traffic. I see the stalling issue on your list with all the engines used in the commander but i see no resolution. This was from 2007.what has happened with this?

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving approximately 65 mph, the engine stalled without warning. After restarting, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The failure recurred on six separate occassions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician stated that a diagnostic fee would be charged prior to the vehicle being serviced under the recall. The vin was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system). The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notifed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 75,000.

Driving on toll road, 65-70mph, engine stalled, check engine light came on, lost power steering, had to pull over to the side of the road. Put into park, turned off ignition, restarted. Check engine light remained on and continued driving. Check engine light remained on until mid-afternoon that day. Also noticed shifting was jerky.

I was beginning to accelerate out of a right turn and noticed that i was not picking up speed and the car started to shake. I tried to speed up to the flow of traffic and the accelerator was not working and the steering wheel kept shaking and had to pull over to the side of the road. I noticed that all the gears on the dash were lit up, from park to drive and everything in between. I decided to shut off the engine and start it again. The car was fine but did it again on 2 separate occasions. Thank goodness i was not on the freeway and there was not a lot of traffic.

Driving on toll road at 65-70 mph when check engine light came on. Engine stalled, no power steering, had to pull over to the side of the road. Put in park, turned off ignition, and attempted to restart. It restarted but check engine light remained on. Drove to dealership.dealer found one stored code, cleared it, performed diagnostic, found nothing, test drove.

I would be driving, and my temperature gauge would slowly creep over to hot, temp over heating..i noticed as i slowed down my car wanted to stall, it would putt putt putt until i gave it a go as if it was misfiring, and slowly the temperature gauge would go back to normal.honestly not thinking anything of it, i went home, dropped the groceries off and proceeded back to my car to pick my son up from school. I started my car, it stalled, i started it again, it stalled, extremely worried i was praying third time a charm..as i started it the third time it started with much hesitation and did the same stuttering as if it was misfiring again.i proceeded to my sons school, watching the temperature gauge creep right back up to hot. When i got there i checked the hood, no steam, nothing seemed hot, and the coolant level was still full.when we went to leave it refused to start.long story short, i have been without my car for a month now, and after spending 1000's of dollars to fix the situation, the mechanic cant for certain put his hand on it.everything he does, leads to him thinking something else, and leads to the problem becoming an engine overhaul.has anyone else had this over heating issue, and the misfiring of the car, as if it stalls while driving?please, i have contacted chrysler, i am at my wits end.

Vehicle stalled while reversing into parking spacevehicle stalls coming to stops.......must be restarted to continue on.vehicle revs really low at idle, idles bounce 200-400 rpm (between 600-1300 rpm), then stalls.

My 2007 hemi commander purchased aug 30th 2012 had a transmission problem yesterday..i can not drive it all at, it is parked in my driveway. What should i do?

Jeep just simply stalls. In several occasions coming to a light or stop sign. The jeep would just die. I would have to restart. The rpm gauge would abruptly start moving erratically up and down a few thousands of rpm gauge would move and the engine wouldact like a rough running engine would and just stop.this has happened several times over the course of the past 5 years.i have complained several times when i take it in for oil changes. They never can do anything about it.

My vehicle would no longer accelerate in traffic causing me to almost get hit in the rear of the vehicle. I could do nothing but coast and brake. All gears became highlighted which were not previously. I am worried if this continues to happen i will be in an accident. This seems to be a common encounter among jeep owners but there is no recall.

2007 jeep commander limited 5.7l hemi stalled again while driving. This time, my daughter was pulling into the driveway when it stalled and she had no control over the brakes or steering because they don't work when the vehicle stalls. She just about drove through the garage door. This is a major safety issue and must be addressed before someone gets hurt or even worse, killed. I took it to the jeep dealership and they updated the pcm, but as soon as i left it stalled again, so i took it back and they replaced an ignition coil. As soon as i pulled off the highway on my way home, it stalled again. They want to replace all of the ignition coils which will cost about $550, and they claim this may fix the issue. I don't understand how jeep doesn't know how to fix this issue. There are thousands of jeep owners that are experiencing the same issue with no fix. That's all we want is a solution to the problem before someone dies.

The engine has stalled on me many times while driving at a slow speed, take off from a stop light or while standing still. Engine light has come one numerous times and codes have lead to different sensors. Which were replaced but did not fix the problem of the jeep stalling and shutting off. This is my main vehicle and i can not chance the safety of my kids and family when no one wants to take action for a problem that has not been fixed or recalled. If anything happens to my family die to this problem there will be a law suit. I bought this vehicle used with a little over 60,000 miles on it and have only had it for a month. I can not even go a full week with out it shutting off or stalling on me. There is a serious issue that jeep chrysler needs to look into!

The contact owns a 2006 (na) jeep commander 4x4. While driving unknown speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 91,000.

While accelerating speed as i entered the toll road for my morning commute, the engine stalled.pulled over, put in park, turned off ignition, restarted.vehicle operated but check engine light remained on. Less than one mile later, lost speed again, had to pull over to the shoulder of the road, place in park, turn off ignition, and restart.check engine light remained on. Check engine light turned off in the afternoon.

While driving on toll road going 65-70mph, check engine light came on, engine quit, lost power steering, had to pull over to the side of the road. Shifted to park, turned ignition off, restarted. Check engine light came back on. Resumed driving.

I have owned this vehicle since new and have been experiencing infrequent and usually momentary engine stalls while driving at highway speeds for years. Each time there was a slight clunk sound and lurch forward - as if the cruise control had just disconnected, and within a second or so everything would be back to normal. But on a recent trip i had three incidents over two days which were much worse, perhaps because they all occurred at temperatures around 0 degrees f.or below. In two incidents, while driving on an interstate at a steady 75mph, instead of the engine immediately recovering, it took long enough thatthe vehicle had slowed down to 30-35mph before the engine restarted itself. In one incident also while driving at a steady 75mph on an interstate the engine did not recover and i had to pull off onto the shoulder and come to a complete stop with no power. I turned the ignition off and then on again and the engine restarted immediately. I had no loss of electrical power during these incidents, and i have nothing dangling from nor could i have bumped the ignition key. I have always maintained the vehicle according to the service schedule and have had all recalls performed, with the exception of the latest one for which the dealer still has not received the parts from jeep. I took the vehicle into a jeep dealership the same day as the second and third incidents and they said they could find nothing wrong. I asked them if possibly the power controller module recall needed to be done a second time, and they responded that jeep would not permit that.

While driving on the highway at approximately 60 mph, jeep engine and all electrical and power systems shutoff for a second and turned back on. This happened a second time a few minutes later going the same speed. Very dangerous while driving on i75 through cincinnati with a lot of traffic.

I was driving down the freeway and the engine down shifted hard and the engine light came on. I pulled over, turned my vehicle off, turned my vehicle back on, and it drove just fine. I went to get the engine light checked and the code that came back was the map sensor. I just replaced the map sensor two months prior.

While sitting at a light.my jeep just died out on me.no reason nothing acting outside of the normal.tried to restart and after a few tries was able to restart.

While traveling on the highway the vehicle, loses power and shuts off. Have to move over to breakdown lane shut key off and restart vehicle. Notified dealer was told to call chrysler. Call chrysler was told there was a recall but parts not available. Was told to not drive vehicle, but cant finish paying for vehicle if i cant get to work to pay for it.!!!!!!! it happens on a daily basis...

While driving up hill (just autosticked to 3rd) jeep commander stalled. Had to slowly back down curve on hill to safe point. Engine light came on and vehicle would not restart. Called for tow and waited. Truck started after 10 minutes and drove to dealership in stafford connecticut. Vehicle stayed there for 3 weeks ultimately ending with no findings. With 79000 miles i am afraid this will happen again without notice.dealer saw engine codes initially but could not duplicate issue after codes disappeared. Dealer refused to change anything without code verification. This is a known problem with commanders pre/post years-wondering what is going on in terms of recall?

I received notification from chrysler awhile back that a defect on my vehicle has been identified.it was a case opened in june, 2014 by nhtsa for pe14017. Chrysler said no solution had been identified at the time they sent the letter but the local distributor would remedy the defect without charge within a reasonable time.the local dealer has not heard anything from chrysler.i don't know what "reasonable time" means but wanted to ask you how long you think i should need to wait before a solution to correct the problem which chrysler says "may experience unintended change in ignition switch position while driving which may result in loss of engine power, power steering, and braking assist increasing the risk of a crash and disabling one or more of the vehicle's safety features including the frontal airbags."thank you.

While driving approximately 60 mph, the engine stalled with the illumination of the entire instrument panel. The contact was able to restart the engine and resume in operation. The failure recurred twenty times. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis but the failure was unable to be duplicated. The mechanic advised the contact that the failure could possibly have been related to the primary control module. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified and they informed there was not a recall. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000. The vin was unavailable.

Jeep commander engine stalls while driving. Engine shuts down, steering and brakes loose power, battery stays on.

Driving a 2007 jeep commander limited 4x4, with 5.7 litre hemi engine at 30 miles per hour along side road, engine cut out unexpectedly no warning.this has happened on 6 different occasions within the past 6 months with no consistency relative to speed, road conditions, etc.on the previous 5 occasions the vehicle cut out for a few seconds, then restarted itself.on the last occasion, the engine cut out completely and needed to be guided off the road.whenever this occurs the driver loses all control of the vehicle creating an uncontrollable and dangerous situation for the driver and other motorists.the vehicle has been brought to paul bailey jeep chrylsler dodge on 2 occasions for an assessment and review of the code system.neither visit gave any indication as to what was causing the problem.a report has been lodged with chrysler and we are awaiting information from their case manager.we believe this to be a fatal accident waiting to happen and need some direction as to the recourse or action we might take.

Engine stalled while driving at approximately 45 mph.turned the key to off and restarted. 2007 jeep commander limited with 5.7 hemi mds.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4.while driving 35 mph in dry conditions, the engine failed and the vehicle came to a complete stop.the contact had to wait a few seconds before the vehicle would restart.prior to the failure, therpm gauges stopped working.the contact scheduled an appointment with the dealer to have the vehicle repaired.the vin was unknown.the current and failure mileages were 30,000.

I own a 2007 jeep commander suv. I have been having numerous problems with it stalling while i am in motion. It also stalls sometimes while i am at a light or stop sign. Another strange occurrence is that sometimes i start it and its moving and i am stepping on the gas and it just has no power. It gets to about 20 mph and i can step all the way down on the gas pedal and nothing, it has no power. I pull over shut the engine off and start it again and it is fine until the next time. I have been having this problem since september and have contacted the dealer where i purchased the vehicle as well as other mechanics and i am told something about a sensor sensing that there is a malfunction. They cannot however fix the problem and act like this is very strange and they have never heard of this complaint. I am afraid that one of these days this will cause an accident and either i or my children or someone else will be seriously injured or even worse, killed.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The vehicle was purchased in december 2007. While driving, the vehicle would not accelerate beyond 30 mph. After shutting the vehicle off it reset itself and began to drive normally. On one occasion, while traveling at speeds of less than 65 mph the vehicle stalled and the contact was only able to stop the vehicle by using the emergency brake. It was also difficult to use the steering wheel; however, it reset itself after restarting the vehicle.the vin was provided but not recognized when it was entered. The failure andcurrent mileages were less than 37,000.

Our 2007 jeep commander 4x4 4.3l has a recurring stalling problem. They vehicle will randomly not start, already replaced a starter, with only 54,000 on the jeep. While driving in all traffic conditions, the vehicle will hesitated and occasionally just turn off.

I have a 2007 jeep commander.not the limited edition.in the 4 months that i have owned it, it has stalled while driving 3 times resulting in a new esm, suddenly lunged forward, on its own, while stopped in traffic, and now stranded our family twice with not starting.the first two problems are a safety issue and should be looked into and recalled immediately.stalling while driving is beyond dangerous!with the suddenly accelerating on its own while i was stopped in traffic, had i not had my foot firmly on the brake, someone could have been hurt.my autistic son was in the car with me on that occasion and on the stalling occasions, all 4 of my kids were in the vehicle.i have lost all confidence in mopar products and jeep needs to recall these hunks of junk before someone, or an entire family, gets hurt or killed.please make jeep fix these problems immediately to avoid disaster like toyota has faced.

When my 2007 jeep commander is in drive the vehicle will stall and sputter or completely shut down. Vehicle speed varies between 5 and 60 miles per hour when the problem occurs. The problem started in october 2009 vehicle speed at that time was 5mph. Since then the speed when the failure occurs has increased and the last time (january 2010) i was driving at 55 mph the vehicle engine suddenly shut off,no power was visible on any control i.e. Dashboard lights, radio, etc and i lost steering power. Luckily i was able coast off into the emergency lane stop the vehicle move it to park and restart.the problem occurs randomly and with no apparent warning. When it cuts off i lose power steering and have had several near accidents with cars traveling behind me. When the vehicle stalls and sputters but does not lose all power itmay then surge forward when the power reconnects.i have taken the vehicle in for service at my local chrysler dealership but they can not find any problem.

Erie, pa 11/3/08 search under rumsey, joannthe newspapers describe it all and pictures speak a thousand words. This 2007 jeep commander crashed by stalling at a high speed claiming the lives of a young woman 40 years old and her 2 children who were 4 yrs old and 18 months old. Please search and review this incident before selecting to put your family in a brand new jeep vehicle. A 5 star crash rating will not do much good if the vehicle stalls at a high speed and the driver is unable to control such vehicle. Please, if you have a family review this before purchasing a jeep product.

While traveling at 40mph my 2007 jeep commander lost power accelerator would no respond the service park assist message came on as did the check engine light and all the gear indicators in the dash lit up. I stopped on the side of the road and after i turned the vehicle off and restarted it was fine for a few more miles and it did it again and again. Took the vehicle to my jeep dealer and they checked it out and found it was the transmission control module and i just had to pay $1,329.59 to have it repaired. This is a safety issue and i was lucky i was driving on side streets as in traffic or on the highway it could have caused a serious accident. The same issue happened on the 2006 commander and jeep recalled them and there are the same number of complaints about the 2007 why is it that nothing is being done to have them correct this.

I was driving my 2007 jeep commander with about 25k miles driven. I noticed that sometimes the vehicle will not accelerate on demand. The tachometer drops to 10k rpm. This is a very dangerous situation. I took it to the dealer and they can find nothing wrong. The vehicle continues to fail at increasing rates unexpectedly.help!

My engine light has been coming over the last couple years. In september 1, 2009 took car to dealership because engine light, acceleration slow or stalling, car shaking and transmission clunks into gear. I had 48,286 miles at that time. They did a diagnostic test and codes p0430 & p0420 (catalytic converter efficiency failure. Dealership reprogrammed pcm and stated this cleared the codes. Took car back to dealership 09/18/2009 engine light came back on again. Dealership installed a sopcat converter and 2 oxygen sensor. My engine light comes on again 02/2012 with shaking, riding rough, while driving stalling , accelerating up or down. Dealership replaced pcm, same day getting car back engine light came back on again took back to dealership the following day. Now they state its the catalytic converter. Now my warranty is out. I already paid out for pcm now have to pay for catalytic converter. This should have been replaced back in 09/2009. Both the pcm & catalytic converter was an issue back in 2009 and should have been replaced then. Now i have to pay out all this money. I think its a recall.

My 2007 jeep commander has stalled and lost various vehicle functions.this has happened a few times with no prior warnings from the instrument panel.i have the extended warranty and had it towed to the dealership for repair.my commander has only 33k miles on it.the dealer said the problem was some sort of "electronics board", they replaced it.however, the jeep has stalled again and now the "check engine" light is on again!this seems to be an ongoing issue with the commanders.i ask nhtsa to please seriously consider a recall to correct these issues.the commanders are now creeping up in age and are now out of factory warranty.please help to correct these issues before there are more injuries or death.lets keep in mind that the majority of people who purchased commanders are using them as a "family vehicle"!thank you in advance for your help in this matter.

I own a 2007 jeep commander which i purchased used in may of 2007.my jeep stalled on me as i was sitting in traffic with no warning.i brought it to the dealership for service and they could not duplicate the problem and told me that they could not do anything until it gets worse.they also told me that they scanned the vehicle and no error codes came up.after researching this on the internet, i found out that this seems to be a recurring problem with 2006 and 2007 commanders.going forward i am going to be nervous driving my vehicle for fear that this is going to happen again and it may cause an accident.i do not want to spend hundreds of dollars trying to find out the problem only to have them keep telling me that they don't know what it is.please help.

New vehicle stalls while driving at certain speeds. Always between 35 and 55 mph on acceleration. Has been to dealership twice so far and told nothing is showingfor diagnostic codes.

While driving at approximate speeds of 30-40 mph, our 2007 jeep commander suddenly lost power, shutting down the engine and power steering.we were able to pull to the side, turn the car off and restart.the problem happened again approx. 25 minutes later.i am 4 1/2 months pregnant with twins and no longer feel safe driving this car.we know of at least three other jeep owners who reported the same problem.

The check engine light came on after the engine stalled out several times in a row.i had it tested, and they said it was an idle air control valve.the idle air control valve does not exist on this vehicle, but yet its the only code that it is giving off.i'm still having stalling issues which are dangerous when pulling out of intersections. Another issue that is ongoing that i'm having, is the sunroof leaking.i have literally 2 gallons of water that will be on my floor board when it rains. You can hear water sloshing above your head before it hits the wiring in the door panels and then collects on the floor boards.

2007 jeep commander with v6 engine.car has stalled in traffic numerous times, and has been to the dealer for repair under warranty.it is now at the dealer for the 4th or 5th time for stalling.each time, they claim something different was the root cause.i am convinced they do not know what the problem is, therefore they cannot possibly fix it.

I bought a new jeep commander '07 a month ago and it stalls at random while driving. Either on the highway or wherever, it hesitates and stalls.

Engine stall,, multiple times,, engine just simply shut off..... Usually stall on highway (60~75 mph),, one time in city (20~35 mph)..... Went to certified chrysler jeep dealership (service center),, no error code reading,, no check engine light,, no special warning go off,, no problem found.....no solution.....

I was driving on the highway with my son going around 65 miles per hour. When all of a sudden my truck jeep comm, started slowing down, and all the other cars were passing by me speeding and blowing at my. I pulled over and restarted the car and now the engine light came on and the truck wont go pass 40 miles an hour. I have a warranty but the dealer is always trying to get out of paying it.

I had this vehicle since 2008, and this is the three times that it would not start once driven. Drive the vehicle to the store, park it for at less 15 mins, when i started the car it do not start. The check engine light come on . The other two time that the car would not start the dealership repair shop could tell me what was wrong and the car start up for them. That was in 2010 and 2011,now it happen again! was told that this problem need to be reported. After reading the complaints from the other owners of the 2007 jeep commander 4x4 this seem as if this is a major problem. We are bless that there has been no deaths.

The total occurrences include seven incidents of engine stalling to date, the most recent incident on or around december 26th, 2007. Five incidents occurred while my leased 2007 jeep commander was idling in park. Two of the engine stalls occurred while actually driving my vehicle, the december 17th, 2007 incident while driving upwards of 50mph. I was forced to put my emergency brakes on, change to neutral, and restart the engine while my car was moving at a high speed on just its momentum. There was a risk of a near accident with both the car to my side and behind me. I attempted to correct this instability by taking the car to the service department of the dealership i leased it from. I was given two unreasonable options by the service department after having left my vehicle there until the close of business that day: either leave my vehicle at the service department, without being given a loaner, until another incident occurs while the car was hooked up to a diagnostic machine and only until then would they even recognize that there was problem (not an option because that could potentially take weeks and i can't do without a car for that time) or take my car back and risk having it happen again with more serious consequences. So, in short, since i was sent off without recognition by the service department that a problem existed i was left without any possible corrective measures i could think of.

Engine stalled twice while the vehicle was in motion causing the loss of power steering and power brakes.this led to a loss of control that required the vehicle to pull off the road.

2007 jeep commander stalls without warning at idle and road speeds.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. The contact stated while waiting at a traffic light the vehicle stalled. The contact mentioned that the failure occurred several times. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the spark plugs were defective and needed to be replaced. The remedy failed to correct the failure. The second time the failure occurred the vehicle was taken to the dealer who diagnosed that the throttle position sensor was defective and needed to be replaced which also did not correct the failure. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer a third time, but they were not able to duplicate the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 58,000 and the current mileage was 61, 000.

My 2007 jeep commander has stalled numerous times in 55 mph traffic that i travel in daily to work.the date below is most recent.it is as if all of a sudden it is not getting fuel ad will not respond to the throttle.i have had it into the local dealership several times and of course they cannot repeat the incident.i have seen many other postings from commander owners on internet bulletin boards with the same issues.this is a very dangerous situation for a vehicle to repeatedly stall like that in traffic.please do something before someone is seriously injured.

I have a 2006 jeep commander which i purchased new. I've had the vehicle for a year and have 33,000. The truck has stalled at least 5 times. There's no warning and it just shuts off! i contacted the dealership and they stated they have nothing in their data base. I don't understand how that's possible considering all of these e-mails. I thought it was just me and being a girl i didn't know what i was talking about. Bottom line, i have a car they can't fix and i don't want to drive!!

I drove a 22007 jeep commander limited 5.7lt hemi. On may 8, 2007 i was at a traffic light for approximately a minute ortwo whenthe signal turned green and i attempted to accelerate and discovered that the stalled. I hit the gas a couple of times with no success. I then put the car in park and restarted. The vehicle, andit started fine, but the stallingfrightened and concerned me.

I own a 2007 jeep commander. Shortly after purchasing it, i was driving down the highway that runs through my town at about 40 mph and the vehicle stalled out. I tried to give it some gas to go but i kept decelerating. I shifted my gear shift to park, shut it off and restarted my car and it went back to running normally for a couple of days.it happened 4 more times before i took it back to the dealership.they told me that it was a computer error and they corrected it.two weeks later, i left my driveway and was heading down my street and my car started bucking uncontrollably.i came to a complete stop and put my car in park and waited a few seconds before shifting back to drive.i came to a stop sign a few blocks later and my jeep stalled out again.this has happened about 4 or5 times since i took it to the dealership.i'm afraid that this vehicle is not safe for me or my family and i am starting to regret this purchase.

The car suddenly shuts down completely when driving on the highway.

2007 jeep commander, 51,000 miles, stalls while driving without any warning.i was able to guide vehicle to side of the road and re-start the engine.this stalling problem has occurred on two occasions now, once with my kids on board, a scary situation to say the least.the engine light came on a week after the last incident and dealer believes the problem is a faulty electronic shift module, which they said is a known problem.when pressed about stalling of 2007 commanders, dealer said they were not aware of any problems or recall, yet replacement of the electronic shift module is a known problem?based upon the submissions to nhtsa regarding this problem, nhtsa needs to take action now.the history of reports regarding 2007 commanders needs to be addressed, i urge the nhtsa and chrysler do the right thing before it is too late.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle stalled and lost all power. The vehicle would not move when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The contact restarted the vehicle immediately after it stalled. The dealer replaced the shift module but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer who could not find the cause of the failure. The contact called the manufacturer who took his complaint and stated that a representative would contact him within 24 hours. The failure mileage was 48,075.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4.while driving 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly spun around out of control.the vehicle then shut off on the side of the road and restarted itself after 15 minutes.there were no warning indicators prior to the failure.the dealer test drove the vehicle and found no failures.the vin and failure mileage were unknown.

2007 jeep commander stalling while idling at a stop or parked and in idle.the vehicle idles rough and begins to stall.sometimes it recovers but when it does it accelerates and lunges forward.if my foot was not firmly on the brake, i would slam into the car or any object in front of me.i have 34,000 miles on it now.it has been occurring for over a year now (12-15k miles).i purchased the jeep from a jeep dealer after it had been owned for a year and had 13,000 miles on it.i do not know if thiswas a problem for the previous owner but it is a continuing problem for me.it has been to the dealer 5 times for the problem and yet to be diagnosed or resolved.it is a dangerous driving situation and i have three young children in my car on a daily basis.i have no financial means to get a new car so forced to drive this unsafe one!!!please make chrysler recall and fix the 2007 commander for this unsafe stalling/accelerating problem!! i am putting march 13, 2010 as the incident date but it has happened so many times in the past year i could not even begin to remember them all.

Vehicle stalls during deceleration as well as around turns. Vehicle then loses power steering and must be restarted to continue driving.

2007 jeep commander (4.7 flex fuel), approx 35,000 miles.has stalled 6-7 times in one year of ownership. Usually occurs when vehicle is at low idle, such as parking lot maneuvers, coming to a stop, etc.consequences are vehicle dies, loss of all power, potentially dangerous, should the vehicle be in an intersection, etc etc.no repair efforts at this time have been started, no clear cut solution offered.

We have an 07 jeep commander that has stalled while driving on two different occasions. On the first occasion the commander had been driven for 20 - 30 minutes when making a right turn the it just stalled. The second time the car had been driven for over 45 minutes when pulling into a parking lot the called stalled. After both incidents the comander would not start back up immediately. In both cases we narrowly missed getting into an accident from the cars behind us. My wife is the primary driver - we have a 4 month old and this is not a safe vehicle for them to be in. We took the vehicle to two different dealerships both said the could not replicate the incident so there is nothing they could do. The vehicle has been to 2 different chrysler dealerships both said that no codes were thrown so they don't know what to do. The second time it happened the dealership kept the car for several days putting 100 miles on it and nothing came of it. Someone needs to figure this out before someone is killed.

2007 jeep commander has stalling issues when it is raining or air is wet.this occurs at idle and slow speeds.this model (2006 and 2007) has many complaints, but nothing is being done to correct it or to hold chrysler responsible. The stall can be dangerous and vehicle lunges forward when it automatically tried to recover before stalling.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. While driving 60 mph the vehicle shut off. When the contact attempted to engage the brake pedal or control the steering wheel everything shut off without warning. The contact was able to coast onto the emergency lane, restart the vehicle and drive home safely. Thevehicle is being repaired by the dealer. The failure mileage was 71,000.

I have a 2007 jeep commander overland with a 5.7l v8 hemi motor with 35,000 miles on it.i am experiencing stalling with my vehicle.my vehicle has stalled three times now - once at a stop light, once while idling in a parking lot, and once while driving (around 10 -15 mph).i spoke with chrysler and they blew me off.i feel unsafe driving this vehicle and am fearful this will happen again at a high speed or somewhere where this stalling will result in an accident.while searching the internet and various forums, i found several complaints regarding this stalling issue.what can be done about this if chrysler denies the problem and insists they "can't find anything wrong" with the vehicle?it can't be a 'fluke' if thousands of jeep commander drivers are complaining about this same issue!

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving approximately 45mph, the vehicle shut off while making a left turn. The weather was not a factor. The power steering and power brakes failed. There were no warning lights illuminated prior to the failure. The vehicle was restarted after one minute. The dealer has not diagnosed the failure. The current and failure mileages were 2,143.

Purchased a new 2007 jeep commander 4x4 rocky mountain edition on 9/3/2007 3:00pm cst. 18 miles driven off lot while driving 25 miles later engine stalled and choked at stoplights. Stalling with very rough idling while brake applied. I pulled over opened the hood and there was smoke and burning smell. Turned off vehicle called dealer restarted engine continued rough idle and now the engine light was on. I went back to the dealer and returned the vehicle and cancelled my contract.

Stalling jeep commander 2007, stop lights, waiting to turn onto street, parking lot causes vehicle to jerk erratically.owned vehicle for one month and have noticed stalling consistently.researching recalls or common mechanical problems through the internet, will schedule for service at jeep dealership.

When car is driven at freeway speeds and you exit and slow down the engine will stall and then start back up itself.the car is a 2007 jeep commander with the 5.7l engine.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4.on september 10, 2007, while driving 70 mph, the vehicle shut off without warning.the cruise control was engaged at the time of the failure.the contact stated that she was decelerating and the wheels and brakes locked up simultaneously.the vehicle restarted approximately 15 minutes later.another failure occurred when she placed the vehicle in reverse.she stated that the vehicle failed to move while the gear was in reverse.she took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that the fuel pump failed.the vehicle is currently being repaired at the dealer.the contact only had the vehicle for thirty days before the failures began.the current and failure mileages were 2,436.updated 09/26/07

Vehicle will idle rough and stall after 15-45 seconds after starting. Will not stay running in p,n, or d.

Driving straight ahead at approximately 70 mph on a turnpike the engine and all power immediately and instantly shut off.vehicle has approximately 110,300 miles on the odometer.quite a scary circumstance.as i was pulling off the main freeway to the shoulder, i turned the ignition to start and the engine immediately started, seemed to run fine, and i proceeded on as if nothing had happened.no error or warning lights were on the dash.5.7l hemi engine.this could have resulted in a very bad accident.

It is currently stalling, while sitting at street lights. Also, the gear shift model including starter and wiring.

Door lock actuator failed on driver's side front door. Door now makes a duck call/ buzz everytime it locks. Upon research this is a common problem with commanders and a recall should be required to fix this issue.

We have a 2007 jeep/commander sport thats really somewhat a proble since we bought it (used) and its been a problem since getting it. It has a serious problem with lurching forward while in park/drive and while you're pressing the brakes at a stop. It did it at the dealership as well they did nothing about it. We've replaced inner parts to the transmission that chrysler refused to cover under the warranty. We've had some type of module replaced a couple of times because the truck started running rough( chrysler covered that) each time it happened. Theres so much we caan complain about this truck and chrysler doesnt wnat to cover non of the major things. There's definitely /always has been an engine problem.

My 2007 hemi commander purchased aug 30th 2012 had a transmission problem yesterday..i can not drive it all at, it is parked in my driveway. What should i do?

My 2007 jeep commander that i have had for less then a year has been giving me issues for a few months now, the service park assist light will come on and then the gears will light up and vehicle will stall while driving, it will lose all power and shift like the trans is slipping, at one point i was going across traffic while leaving a parking lot and it stalled lucky for me there was no other cars coming my way. I have had enough of this problem and seems like others are having the same problem, why is this not being recalled for safety purposes, its only a matter of time before i get rear ended from this issue.

I had the n23 recall done on my xk and now the service 4wd light comes on. I have done some research and found out this has happened a lot. Dealership says its not their problem and wont fix it. 4wd had no issues at all till the recall was done.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving various speeds, the vehicle did not shift out of fourth gear and all of the warning indicators illuminated. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transfer case failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was later taken back to the dealer for the same failure where the diagnosis was unknown. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 100,000.

I own a 2007 jeep commander and now it will shift in low speed mode while traveling at highway speeds. I have the dealer rest it and it did it again while coming home. The replacement of this module is 1000 dollars and with only 104k miles i feel that for safety and reliability this should is on recall. This jeep is only 4 yrs old and to early for this type of problem.

My story is the fdcm was updated with the p73 update at a dealership in little rock arkansas, i had to take it back twice because the service 4wd drive light came on after the update. There was no problem with the vehicle until the update. I live in alabama and now i was told by the local dealership that the transfer case is worn out. I belive they only told me that because they didn't want to work on it.i care little about trying to get something fixed that first of all i have no ldea what the problem is or whats needed to repair it other than trading in the vehicle. I have purchased 5 jeeps in the past 20 years. This one will be the last.

Tachometer registers high for speed, shifts in a jerky manner.dealership scanned and found no codes. Found vacuum leak at iac motor. Replaced idle air control motor. Rechecked operation and test drove.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign numbers: 14v438000 and 13v175000 (electrical system, power train) however, the parts to do the repairs were unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Updated 5/20/15

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact stated that while driving various speeds, all of the dashboard lights simultaneously illuminated. The vehicle then accelerated and decelerated independently.the vehicle was taken for diagnosis and the contact was advised that the shift gear box would need replacing. The gear box was replaced however, the failure later recurred. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer ut he was unable to diagnose the failure. The vin was not available.the approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

After stopping at traffic lights, stop signs or awaiting traffic to clear in order to make turns, the engine stalls but will re-fire after placing transmission in park or neutral and turning the ignition key.(i just purchased the vehicle and found out from the previous owner that the problem began during the summer of 2012, resulting in the trade-in because two different dealers could not find the problem.dealers replaced the following:map sensor, cam and crank sensor, egr valve, cleaned throttle body, replaced the pcm, spark plugs, replaced air idle control valve, replaced battery. None of the above have fixed the stalling problem which could get one killed in traffic.)

I took my 2007 jeep commander to get a n23 recall done on it. Without checking anything before i drove off the lot after they did the update, i tried my 4lo drive out and would not work a few weeks later. I advised the jeep dealership of the problem but they said had nothing to do with the recall. As i looked further into my situation im not the only person to experience this issue with this exact recall. I had jeep take it back in to look over the recall. They had my vehicle for 2 days to tell me that its my transfer case actuator that has gone out. As i advised that the paperwork i gave to them reguarding this recall is in reguards to my transfer case actuator electrical failure. But they insist its now up to me to pay and fix this myself. So now im stuck having to fork out money to replace a part thats not communicating with the recall that was sent to me in the first place plus a diagnostics fee for taking my jeep back. Something that was supposed to help my jeep has made it worse and to top it off i've got nothing but horrible customer service for the dealership and also chrysler customer service. I have a paper in front of my face that shows why they are having a recall due to the transfer case actuator but somehow not the dealership or chrysler cant find such thing. I told them to get on the internet and was informed that everything you see on the internet is not true. Thats when i had enough. How dare them say that when chryslers name is on the top left of the recall. I feel now that i was let down by the dealership and chrysler and have no where to turn to help me get this problem fixed without paying out of my pocket.

I had come to a complete stop and when i accelerated my vehicle it stalled as i was rounding a corner. My engine light began to flash. The prnd letters on the dash all lit up and the screen read service park assist. I have had this happen multiple times where all the letters light up and it will not accelerate on the highway. I can usually tell when it's going to happen because it tends to struggle on acceleration. Sometimes it will kick back and then letters light up. Really annoying when it happens 4-5 times a day. Other times it happens as i'm getting on the highway and the other vehicles behind have to brake fast due to stall. Very dangerous!!

Tachometer rpms read high for speed, jerks when shifting.

Tachometer reads high rpms for speed, jerks when shifting. This lasted several days.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. The vehicle stalled several times while the driver was traveling 70 mph. She pulled over and was able to restart it. The veicle was taken to a local repair shop where the contact was informed that the gear shift module was defective. The vehicle was repaired. The contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer. The current and failure mileages were 40,439.

Vehicle randomly stalls while driving it at various speeds and while parked. This time, i was going 45mph and it completely stalled. The vehicle has to be in park in order to restart it and it was very difficult to start. This is extremely dangerous since the brakes and steering don't work when it stalls. I have also discovered that there was a recall on a handful of 2008 commanders due to a malfunctioning front control module or transmission control module. This should be taken very seriously because many jeep owners are afraid to drive them due to the uncertainty of the random stalling.

2007 jeep commander (purchased used in the fall of 2012): as i was pulling out of a parking lot, the car abruptly sped up, causing me to lose control.i crashed into an utility pole directly across from the parking lot exit as a result.the car is now totaled and the utility pole was damaged (leaning over).i traveled approximately 26 feet, at a speed high enough to create that amount of damage.as someone who has driven professionally for many years, this was unnerving and unusual.also, around 3 months ago the same situation happened while driving down the road.i was following a car going 45 mph, and my commander suddenly sped up, causing me to apply the brake to slow down.i didn't think anything of it at the time, but now i am wondering if there is/was a problem with the vehicle.

Vehicle, a 2007 jeep commander 4wd,stopped moving forward, felt like it was in neutral, rpms went up but vehicle did not move forward.i let off the gas, then it jerked a couple of times, engine light came on and it started to move normally.while in the atm drive thru, put the vehicle in drive and it would not move, put it in park again, then shifted down to drive and it moved.took the vehicle to the dealer, they advised that it was a shift module on the transmission that needed to be replaced, i had an extended warranty, and the vehicle only had 42200 miles on it.warranty will not cover the $16000.00 plus cost to repair.needless to say this is the last jeep i will own.given the amount of online complaints regarding this same problem there should be a recall, this is a huge safety issue.

The transmission seems to slam into gear upon release of the accelerator when slowing down upon the automatic downshifting that take place. Sometime is seems quite violent and other times not to bad but very noticeable. I have had this vehicle in for service for this same exact complaint. However the fix the dealer claimed they did was temporary.it is back again and is worrisome to me.also the driver side widow does not roll up or down properly without slamming hard near the close or open and something inside rattles pretty bad. The dealer also has repaired this and it was also temporary, really never fixed.

Hard downshift mostly at lower speeds and slowing down. Sometimes very hard other times not so hard butdefinitely present. It has sounds like a bang with a jerk also. Something is going to break as this is not going away. Currently under warranty and can't fix it. Great!what happens when my warranty is up and it falls apart and big bucks to fix from the abuse it took because the dealership cannot find the problem. Was told i may have to live with it. I don't flipping thinks so. $36,700.00 for this vehicle brand new. Never had this problem until 50k miles. Something is wrong. Asking for help chrysler!! fix that german transmission!big problem getting worse and dealership has had it 4 times in a month. Does not have a clue. They say it's fixed. I drive away and within a day it comes right back. Call me chrysler!

While driving acceleration of the vehicle is interupted, the service park assist system comes on the display. The engine light came on and stayed on for several days. This has happend to me and my wife at least five times in the last 8 weeks. We have to pull over and shut off the vehicle, restart and continue on. This is a dangerous situation when pulling out not to have acceleration when you should.vehicle was brought to the dealership and they tracked the problem to the electronic shift module.as usual its not covered. Its very dissapointing to spend money maintaining your vehicle per the reccomendation of the manufacturer just to have to replace parts that cannot be maintained.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. The contact received recall nhtsa campaign number: 13v175000 (electrical system, power train). However, the parts needed were unavailable. The contact mentioned that a follow up notice was received in the summer of 2014, but parts were still unavailable. The contact had not experienced a failure.

07 jeep commander w/ < 30k miles, shuts off while driving.various speeds, various gears, various gas levels, various terrains.truck has done this +/- 5x's over the course of the last7 mos.no indicator light, no warning. Results in complete loss of power steering & power brakes requiring the need to coast in neutral to safe location and ultimately pulling the emergency brake to come to complete stop.trouble then getting jeep into park for a restart.jeep has been in dealer shop for each instance to no avail, dealer cannot solidify problem.1st diagnosis was shift module; 2nd diagnosis was shift module 3rd diagnosis was upgrade to software for shift module; 4th diagnosis was low transmission fluid. Dealer is empathetic, chrysler is not.chrysler issued us a check for the amount of 2 lease payments but has not remedied problem.

Tachometer reads high rpms for speed, jerks when shifting.

I have had several problems with the 2007 jeep commander.at times it will not start.recently it has lost power/speed when accelerating.i was merging onto the highway and it suddenly lost power and would not go above 20mph.the engine had a strange noise to it.i have had it "fixed" multiple times but nothing seems to stop the problems.it is the worst car i have ever owned.

I was pulling out onto the highway. As i got up to around 15 mph, all the shift indicator lights lit up ,around park, neutral, drive and reverse. My acceleration cut off. I couldn't accelerate past, maybe, 20 mph. The rpms would go up, with no response from the vehicle. I had cars coming up fast behind me and i couldn't go any faster or pull off, till the next turn off. Also, if i'm pulling out, from a stop, sometimes i just lose power and my car crawls on to the road, especially if on a incline. It's really scary and dangerous.

Vehicle stalled while reversing into parking spacevehicle stalls coming to stops.......must be restarted to continue on.vehicle revs really low at idle, idles bounce 200-400 rpm (between 600-1300 rpm), then stalls.

Tachometer registered high rpms for speed. Speed ranged from 30-70mph. Vehicle would shift in a jerky manner. Contacted dealership and arranged to have it looked at on 8-7.

When shifting from park to drive, or reverse to drive, the engine stalls and it takes almost a minute for the shift to actually occur so i can drive.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the 4wd warning indicator illuminated intermittently as the transmission failed to operate in 4wd. The failure occurred after the vehicle was repaired under the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 13v175000 (electrical system , power train). The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the transfer case actuator was replaced at the owner's expense. The manufacturer was notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

I lease a 2007 jeep commander.i noticed, to start, that the engine would not accelerate at a low speed.at first it felt like my foot was not quite on the accelerator so i dismissed the first couple of incidences.more recently however, my vehicle will occasionally stop accelerating at about 15 miles per hour.with my foot fully on the accelerator, the vehicle will not go ( the engine is not stalled ).it definitely feels like the vehicle is shifting automatically into neutral when i try to accelerate.the engine light on my control panel illuminates.the problem has become worse.the vehicle will stop accelerating at higher speeds and the park, reverse, neutral, and drive symbols all illuminate on my control panel - suggesting that i am in all those positions. I took my commander in to the dealership to be checked on october 6, 2008 and they said absolutely nothing wrong.i do not understand this because my vehicle is blatantly not working properly - an accident waiting to happen if i cannot move my vehicle at an appropriate speed to cross intersections etc..i have to put my hazards on and pull over when this happens, now on a daily basis.i will not drive it distances because i am afraid that it could shift out of gear on the highway which would be dangerous.i did take it to a local car store where they did a diagnostic scan and found the code u0404 that invalid data was received from the gear shifter. I do not know what to do now that i have a vehicle that chrysler says nothing is wrong with but does not work. I do think that this is clearly a dangerous problem to have.

My 2007 jeep commander limited 4x4 has stalled out on five different occasions.in all occasions the vehicle was moving.after stalling out the vehicle's power brakes and power steering did not work.also, the first time it stalled the check engine light came on.i had a diagnostician check the code and it was "barometric pressure too low".he reset the code and the light has not come back on.my warranty is up and i hope chrysler can fix this for free.i feel this vehicle is unsafe until this is fixed.

2007 jeep commander 4x4 limited hemi engine stalls over and over again.dealership took 1 week to fix, they replaced the computer, got it back and it continues to have the same problem, did not even go a day without the problem resurfacing.they currently have the vehicle and are trying to fix for a second time.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact was driving approximately 35 mph on normal road conditions. The engine stalled without warning. The vehicle was coasted to the side of the road. The vehicle restarted and continued in normal operation. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on two separate occasions to reset the electronic sensors. Recently, the dealer stated that the electronic shift module required replacement. The vehicle has not been repaired at this time. The vin was unavailable.the failure mileage was 25,000.

Engine failure/stall/loss of power on 2007 jeep commander.has happened about 6 times now.sometimes at low speeds...sometimes on the freeway.started happening around 15,000 miles.dealer tried to replicate it.they said they could not.so they have done nothing to fix it.i have told them about it 3 times.now it has happened again at 39,000 miles and on the freeway.i lost control and it became an extremely dangerous situation as i tried to coast over to the emergency shoulder.temporary brake power lost and no response to the attempts to start it in neutral.please help!started in 2007 and continues to happen in 2009.i have not been notified of any recalls or tsbs.i own the vehicle.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander. The contact statedwhile attempting to pass another vehicle at approximately 70mph, the vehicle made an abnormal clunk noise and the vehicle would no longer accelerate. The contact coasted to emergency lane and shut off the engine. When restarting, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The parking assist warning then illuminated on the warning panel. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. One week later while accelerating from a complete stop, the failure recurred. The manufacturer advised there were no recalls and would not provide any assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. There was a previous investigation for the failure however; a recall did not originate from the investigation. The failure mileage was approximately 38,000 and the current mileage was approximately 38,200. The vin was unavailable.

2007 jeep commander: after starting the vehicle and put into gear; gear engagement is delayed.reaction is to push the gas pedal to accelerate.with the combination of delayed the engagement and acceleration, the vehicle could surge forward or backward before the brake can be applied and cause an accident.chrysler tsb's 21-012-07, 21-007-06, 21-015-05 & 21-016-05.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4.the contact stated that the vehicle failed to start and the transmission warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the ignition switch system was replaced. The failure recurred and persisted for approximately one year. The vehicle was taken to the dealer at least four times for the failure where the starter was replaced twice. The failure persisted and the dealer was no longer able to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 28,000 and the current mileage was 47,400.

I own a 2007 jeep commander 4 x 4 3.7l. After having some issues with, what i thought was the transmission slipping, i checked and added trans. Fluid and had both trans lines replaced due to leaking. Everything seemed to be ok for a couple weeks, until i was driving to work and not only was there a delay when i would try to accelerate, the service parking assist system message appeared a couple times, along with the check engine light. The vehicle would not accelerate over 30 miles per hour and the rpms would run above 2 on the dash. I parked, turned the engine off, hoping it would reset the system, but it still continued to repeat the same things when i turned everything back on again. This went on for about 10 minutes. Then after 10 minutes passed, i was stopped at a light and when i went to accelerate from the stop, once the light turned, the vehicle felt as if it was going to stall. I started researching the symptoms that i was having and it seems to be recurring in many 2007 jeep commanders. Most of the complaints that i read about, state that the dealer told them the either the automatic transmission control module or the electronic shift module was faulty. Please look into this issue further. My jeep is only 4 years old and only has 50k miles on it and for a serious problem like this to be going on with so few miles, this just doesn't seem right.

2007 jeep commander failing electronic shift module.this vehicle will shift out of gear at any time without warning.other symptoms include parking assist failure message on the dash and all gears prnd show active at the same time on the display.i contacted jeep and warned them about this but they will not initiate a recall until forced to do so by the nhtsa.

Service park assist light came on and all power was lost.code shows a transmission control moduleit appears to be a common problem on the jeep commander.safety issue when your traveling at 65mph and your power fails.

Service park assist system would come up and p r n d would light up, then jeep would not accelerateuntil i put it in neutral or park and then back into drive. A couple of times when it would not accelerate it had completely stalled out for no reason. Check engine light comes on intermitently during this time. Also, manual shift bevel stopped working about 4 months after getting the vehicle (still covered by warranty) and was replaced, stopped working about 5 months after that and was replaced with the warranty but then stopped working again about 3 months later and is not covered by the warranty any longer. About 1 month ago heard a loud noise as i was going from reverse to drive and now everytime it shifts from first to second or second to first it shifts very hard.

Jeep commander 2007 stalling while driving from a range of 15 mph to 55 mph.the stalling has occurred 4 times and the brakes, steering wheel lock up.

My 2007 jeep commander 3.7l 6 cyl. 4x4 nearly comes to a stall when idling or coming to a stop.recently, at idle, it actually stalls out.i took this to the dealer and they said nothing was wrong.i am now taking it in to another dealer for more testing.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4.the contact stated that the vehicle would stall without warning and lose total power while in transit.the vehicle was taken to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the failure.the dealer stated that they could not repair what they could not see.the vehicle was taken back to the dealer, but they still could not duplicate the failure.the third time the failure occurred, the dealer replaced the transmission software as well as the transmission module.the dealer stated that the failure would not recur; however, it continued.the contact stated that the failure was worse after the third repair because the vehicle began to jerk violently.the failure still persists.the current and failure mileages were less than 52,000.

At intermittent times the vehicle would delay upon pressing the accelerator and not shift properly.it was taken to be serviced after the transmission reverted to "safe mode" while driving.dealer reset the system.acceleration and shifting problems continued until "check engine" light illuminated together with the "service parking assist system" message.were informed by the dealer that the automatic transmission control module was faulty and would need to be replaced.dealer also informed us that the part had been previously replaced by an authorized jeep service center prior to us purchasing the vehicle.

We bought a 2007 jeep commander v6 in july/august of '08 and have constantly had problems with the esm (electronic shift module) during the first few visits they stated that "problem could not be duplicated" and they would flash the vehicles computer and it would run for awhile then finally the check engine light came on and got the vehicle in and found it was the esm which was finally replaced in apr '09 after numerous attempts to have them fix. Since it was still under the 3yr/36k warranty it was at no cost. Now it has gone out again less than a year later and our warranty has expired and jeep states that their part warranty (which should be 12mo/12k) expired along with the factory warranty and we are out of luck. The part was replaced as a "goodwill" gesture which was told to me by a customer service agent and does not have any part warranty. As i was investigating whether or not it was a common problem i noticed that the v8 models of the commander had a recall for the auto transmissions but the v6 does not. It was quite scary driving down the interstate at 70 then suddenly losing power and power steering especially with my 2yr old and 8yr old in the suv. The vehicle would go into "limp" mode and wouldn't shift out of 3rd gear and go faster than 25mph, rpms wouldn't raise past 3k, and it would shift hard into gear. The fact that jeep will not warranty that part and all the other problems i've read from other people on forums, complaints, etc. About this should warrant a investigation into this matter.

2007 jeep commander, 92,000 miles, stalls while driving without any warning. I was able to guide vehicle to side of the road and re-start the engine. This stalling problem has occurred on about ten occasions now, once with my kids on board, a scary situation to say the least. Sometimes before the problem starts the park assist will turn itself off and then the check engine light will come on. We have tried several times to get an error code from the computer system by turning the key 3 times in a row but it never returns a code. Sometimes the check engine light will stay on for a couple of days but eventually goes out and the jeep will run fine until it happens again. The last time this occurred the ability to shift the gears from 1 to 4 was inoperable and when you pressed the gear shift right or left it remained in drive. I have called several dealerships and have been advised that they haven't heard anything of this problem and they want me to pay to have a diagnostic ran but can't confirm what the problem is.

Engine stallat random times, weather conditions and driving speeds the engine stops accelerating but does not turn off. Its as if the car is in neutral gear when it is in drive.the lights around the led gear display flash in unison after 4 15 seconds the car accelerates again.the engine light will turn on for a day or a minute and then shut off. The issue has occurred on several occasions over the last year the latest is listed below.the jeep dealer cannot find any problem.

The seat belts in my 2007 jeep commander malfunction. The third row seat buckles have cracked making them very difficult to get the belt into the buckle.at times the belts will even unlatch on their own. One of the buckles had shattered and is now completely inoperable.this is also happening to the second row seats as well as the passenger seat. Having three children with car seats in the car, this is very unsafe. Especially since they can detach at any time. It also makes me very concerned about the security of the belts in the event of a crash. I have found hundreds of complaints online regarding the 2006-2007 model years having serious problems with the seat belts.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4.on two separate occasions, the third row driver's side seat belt retractor became stuck around the contact's child.the more the child struggled to get out of the seat belt, the more it began to tighten.the child suffered burns to the chest.on both occasions, the child needed assistance to exit the seat belt, which took over 20 minutes.the current mileage was 9,000 and failure mileage was 8,987.

The left third row seat belt got crushed by the faulty seat mechanism causing it to not release when the button was pushed. The passenger in that seat had to crawl out from under the belt in order to escape the vehicle. The problem now includes both 3rd row belts and they are unusable.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. The contact stated that the driver and passenger's side seat belts on the third row had failed. The failure recurred eight times over a period of two months. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who diagnosed that the seat belt receiver needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

2007 jeep commander seat belts have broken 5 times in the last 2 years. Purchased vehicle use; so it does not fall under lemon laws unfortunately.

Front seat belt retraction is insufficient causing seat belts to be caught between door lock mechanism when closing door when exiting vehicle damaging seat belt webbing. Door will not properly close or lock and vehicle may be at risk for theft.

3rd row seating, when you fold down seats the seat belt does not fold down with the seats and gets jammed, the seats get freyed and torn. The seat belts do not work.

Fabric is defective.seats stain by just plain water.looks disgusting and manufacturer wont do anything about it.they say i have to bring in and have it shampooed.i've done that and it doesn't fix the problem.they say since there are no recalls they can't replace fabric until there is a recall issued by nhtsa.i thought my car was under warranty.there are tons of complaints by other jeep owners with the same problem. We are all being told there is no problem.

The contact owns a 2007 jeep commander 4x4. While driving various speeds over bumps or while parking the vehicle, a squeaky noise was heard coming from the front end. Also, a grinding noise was heard coming from the front and rear of the vehicle while applying the brakes. While driving in the snow or rain and depressing the brake pedal, a clicking sound was heard coming from the pedal as it vibrated. The contact mentioned that it felt as if complete brake pressure was not being applied. During the failures, various warning indicators would illuminate. The vehicle was not taken to an independent mechanic or dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was not notified of the failures. The contact researched the failures online and found nhtsa campaign numbers: 09e039000 (suspension) and 07v415000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The vin was excluded from the recalls. The failure mileage was approximately 35,000.

My front brakes locked up while driving on the freeway the first time 11/4/10. I was told from the dealership that they could not duplicate this issue, but got an error from the car that said the front right wheel was going faster then all the rest of the tires and the abs activated and locked up the front wheels. This happened again 12/15/10 and the abs, slippery when wet, esp, bas, and service 4 wheel drive lights came on. The dealership tested it again and got the same error message. They replaced the sensor on the front right passenger wheel, and stated that this may have fixed it, but that they are not 100% sure how to fix the issue. I believe this is similar to recall 06v493000. I have also filed a claim with chrysler. No one will help me. I am afraid for my safety as well as my families in this car. I can not afford a continuous rental or to purchase a new car. I am now out time loss at work, car rental, towing, and costly repairs. Please help me.

Brakes failed twice since purchasing vehicle in april.once with my wife driving and once with me which i will describe here:driving uphill at about 35 mph and traffic light at top of hill turned red.removed right foot from accelerator and pushed on brake pedal.the pedal felt very stiff and did not travel the normal distance.brakes did not engage regardless of how hard i pressed on pedal.had to swerve to shoulder.after about 3 seconds the brakes kicked in my locking up all 4 tires.

Braking capability -- seemingly in front end of vehicle -- is diminished by apparent warping of front brake rotors.this became first noticeable to me at approx just 15k miles.jeep (daimlerchrysler) wants no part of repair (warranty exp at 12k miles, they say).independent repair shop informs me that this is chronic problem with jeeps. I complained to daimlerchrysler via latter in march; they declined to help via letter dated april 10, 2007.

While i was driving the car automatically shut off and will not turn back on for a while. Other incidents where the ignition will nit work at all, the car can be completely off and the back window will automatically opened. While the car is running all the light begin to turn on and off in the car.

While coming to a stop, front right ball joint failed causing lower control arm to pivot downwards with wheel attached. Vehicle came to a stop resting on wheel which was now facing down.

We have major leaks in both side rails right above the dash board. We noticed the leaks a couple of days after our car was delivered. It rains a lot in alaska, so basically our car leaks about everyday! we had taken our vehicle into two different dealers and one dealer said he could not find where the leak is coming from and the other dealer said to bring it back in the summer because it is frozen outside, since we took the vehicle in around october! i can't believe a car that is brand new has leaks! i am glad to see that another person has complained about the side rail leaks, i thought it was just my car! maybe it should be recalled. I have other complaints about the vehicle regarding the steering wheel, which i have already complained about. But, my car has been at the dealer for two weeks now and they still can't figure out the problem. They first told me it was the steering wheel pump. Now they are telling me it's the steering wheel rack.

New 2007 jeep commander with 2,500 miles purchased 3 months ago, power steering went out while driving. Jeep in for repair over 30 days and no solution as to the cause of the failure.

We were on our way out and on the road and the steering wheel did not want to move. It did not want to turn right or left. It would just go straight. We actually almost landed in the ditch as well as almost hitting a truck. This is a major safety defect. Our jeep commander is brand new and only has 700 or so miles on it. We had purchased it less than 3 months ago. So, our vehicle has been out of commission since dec. 2nd, 2007. I did call our dealer from which we purchased it from, since they are located in wa and we live in ak. They are aware of the situation. I also called the jeep corporation and they are aware as well. I did call our local jeep dealer and scheduled an appt. Their earliest appt is dec. 17th, 2007. This incident could have cost us our lives.

Sunroof leaking.

A new vehicle, the jeep commander, on a wet highway, is a major problem for anyone behind. Reason, horrible design results in more spray and mist kicked up than an eighteen wheeler. This horribly designed, unaerodynamic pile of junk is a major menace that turns a wet highway into a moving cloud and they will be the cause of a major pile-ups. All should be bought back and scrapped. Test one on a very wet asphalt highway and my complaint will be obvious to all. Ban this vehicle before it kills someone.

Sunroof/windows leak and cause water to flood into the passenger side floor area.up to an inch of standing water accumulates in passenger floor area during periods of heavy rain.

My 2007 jeep commanderleaks through the screw holes in the handle on the upper side of driver and passenger window when it rains. How do i fix it?

While driving at night i thought i could hear a scraping noise. I promptly rolled down my window and continued to accelerate slowly. I didn't hear the noise so proceeded home. A few miles later i pulled into my drive and a police officer pulled up to tell me metal was loose under my vehicle and shooting sparks out of the rear. The next morning i checked and a large piece of rusted metal was hanging by a thread so i removed it. I made an appointment to have the vehicle inspected and was shown that 2 of the 3 straps holding my gas tank in place were completely gone and the third is broken and rusted through. My vehicle is unsafe to drive and i had no idea. I looked to see if this was a recall issue and it is not. I searched to see if this is a common problem and found that it is extremely common across the entire jeep line. If my gas tank were to separate or be punctured it could not only cause an explosion killing me and my family but could kill/seriously injure anyone on the road behind me. I have absolutely no recourse to resolve this issue. I can't afford the dealership amount which is more than the vehicle is worth. How is this not a recall issue?

Sunroof leaks and windows leak cause water to flood into the passenger side of the truck and rear of the truck.also cause a shortage in the electrical system and shuts off the radio.driver side window module has a shortage when lowering and raising windows the lights flash and radio goes in and out.

2007 jeep commander electric sunroof leaks from the a pillar onto driver, floor and dashboard instruments during heavy rains.

I just leased a 2007 jeep cherokee in march of '07.and, it drives wonderfully!however, i've noticed a few (glitches) concerns lately with this vehicle.i have major leaks in my side rails right above the dashboard when it rains.i believe this is because of how the insulation was done on the actual roof as well as the doors.i've also noticed my passenger window sticking while lowering the window or raising the window.and, my windshield seems to be glistening now -- i'm thinking that those glistening small cracks will truly turn into major problems long-term!i am currently leasing and was seriously deciding to purchase this vehicle.but, with my concerns listed i'm not sure how long this jeep commander will last me financially.hopefully these problems will be recalled and maybe my decision to purchase will change.i'm sure that these problems are not just affecting me.we'll see what happens.hopefully you can help!have a nice day!!

I purchased 4 tires from m.a. Tire center, inc., 3156 boston rd., bronx, ny 10469 (718) 655-9863 in the past few months. My front driver tire was purchased in march 2015. After a few weeks my steering wheel started shaking every time i drove the car. I went to pep boys thinking maybe my tires needed to be balanced. The service technician at pep boys showed me what the problem was. The tire was so worn and the treads were gone already. He also showed me where the tire was getting ready to actually bust if i kept driving on it. I was in danger. I went back to the tire store and they tried to sell me another tire for $140.00. I didn't want to buy another tire since that bad tire was only a month old and was obviously bad from the start. They knowingly sold me a bad tire and put my life at risk. They should have replaced the tire at no charge. Because i'm a woman i feel they took advantage of me by selling e a bad, dangerous tire. I also believe this tire shop is operating illegally and should be closed down. If they're selling bad tires, they shouldn't be in business putting people's lives at risk.

Tire pressure monitor continues to go off for no reason.check all tires and they are inflated properly at 35 psi (spare too).the jeep commander has been in 8 times to two dealers with no avail.they replaced the receiver module and 2 sensors (or at least they told me they did) and still continue to get tire pressure monitor warning on the dash of the jeep.issue occurs sporadically, but mainly on the highway driving 70 mph.incident date is inaccurate as selected below as this has happen numerous times of the past year/year and half.

Transmission cup plug leaking.

I purchased vehicle in 2013 and stalling has progressively gotten worse in the last few weeks. It used to stall only in cold weather when i came to complete stop. Restarting was no problem. Two years after purchase, the vehicle will shut off every time i slow down, turn or come to a complete stop regardless of the weather, time of day or speed. It still has no problem restarting but it is unsafe and inoperable. Sometimes it takes 5 minutes to get out of a parking spot because it continues to shut off. It has tried to shut off at 60-70mph on the freeway. The engine jerks but if i step on the gas at this speed it prevents it from stalling. I have had all of the recalls done and none have fixed the stalling problem. Vehicle is currently at dealership and they are unable to find the cause and every diagnosis test is at my expense. I have contacted chrysler and if the recalls did not fix the problem related to my vin then they don't want any part of it. I believe it is a transmission problem as detailed in a nhtsa recall campaign number: 008v20300. I referenced this recall when i contacted chrysler but they stated that if i did not get a notice then it did not affect my vehicle. I currently have a vehicle that i cannot drive because i have two small children and it is unsafe for us and everyone else on the road.

There is a recall for my jeep, yet there is no fix. I drive many miles each day, and i was never notified that there was a recall. What if my car shuts off while driing on the highway? what if i get in a wreck?how can jeep issue a recall and take over a year, then still not have a fix?what if my jeep wrecks and i or someone loses their life?

I was driving down the road and the vehicle down shifted hard and the engine light came on. I pulled over turned my vehicle off and turned it back on and it started and drove just fine.

I was driving at a steady pace on the freeway and the engine light came on. I pulled over and the power steering went out as well as the brakes. I turned off my vehicle, restarted it, and was able to drive with no problems afterwards.

I was driving down the freeway and the engine down shifted hard and the engine light came on. I pulled over, turned my vehicle off, turned my vehicle back on, and it drove just fine. I went to get the engine light checked and the code that came back was the map sensor. I just replaced the map sensor two months prior.

2007 jeep commander engine stalling problem.the vehicle initially stalled while driving on the highway at approximately 70 mph.it has been an ongoing problem for approximately 8 weeks and continues to stall while driving, idling, and turning.it has been into the dealership for this problem and they continue to replace things at random that are not correcting the problem and have told us theydo not know what is causing it to continually stall.so far every time it has stalled it has started right back up but my biggest concern is that it will cause an accident if i can't get it off the ride when it stalls while driving.

While driving my car will start to hard idle and then sometimes shut off at red lights or stop signs also one driving it all the sudden shut off and i'll lose all control of the vehicle and have the pull the e break just to stop the vehicle i've taken it to an authorized jeep dealer over the past few years to try and fix the problem and they haven't been able find anything but i'm not the only 1 with these complaints there are 1000's of people having the same problems.

When attempted to start vehicle, clicks but starter won't turn. Adjusting contact if factory wires resolved no start situation temporarily. However, problem returned in 24hours

1.my 2007 jeep commander acts as if it slips out of drive to neutral.all the p r n d lights light up and i have no gas power.this happens every time i drive it.i have to push the shifter to the right to try and get it to go in gear or pull over and not drive it.brought it in and stated it was the starter.fixed that and now the problem is worse.the car will not go over 20 mph.i finally have a new chrysler dealer that is going through proper steps to figure the problem out and the have kept me informed.the outcome is a electronic shift module.i am just over my warranty and it is going to cost approx. $1000.00 to fix plus the $397 i just spent on the starter that i may have not needed.the worst part is i googled this problem and there are so many commanders out there that have the same problem and it is a hazard and safety issue!going down the highway at 65 and all of the sudden no power is scary.

I hadtransmission speed sensor replaced 2 1/2 weeks ago it seems to went out already truck won't go over 30 mph and car jerks while trying to reach it this happened on the highway as i was almost killed trying to get off the problem existed before replacing the transmission speed sensor then a few weeks after it was replaced i own a usedvehiclei'm not sure my vehicle received any safety recall procedures but it needs to

This has happened repeatedly since purchasing vehicle in sept 2015.at highway speeds the vehicle either; a) lurches all electronics die and then quickly comes back to power, or b) the vehicle stalls. The vehicle has been to dealer for repair 4 times and service does not fix.

The car suddenly shuts down completely when driving on the highway.

2007 jeep commander shut off on highway.

Turned right from a stop sign.accelerated to about 40.accelerator stuck and 2007 jeep commander continued to accelerate.driver stepped on brake & it did not stop the vehicle.driver pulled the parking brake to slow a bit.had to throw into park while moving in order to avoid accident.

Cruise control still does not work (day 2).

Hvac and defrost directs cold air onto windshield while sending 175 degree fahrenheit hot air to bottom ventsair is not mixing properly.jeep dealer will not make repair, saying "this is how hvac works".due to cold air blowing from the defroster on windshield, windshield builds up with ice and snow, and does not defrost properly.

In august 2009 a truck dropped a rock from its load a broke (cracked) my windshield on my 2007 jeep commander.we had the windshield replaced and with in weeks a crack appeared on the top ofdriver"s side. The windshield was not struck by anything. That cracked windshield was replaced and in november that windshield cracked on the top side of the driver's side. Again nothing struck the windshield.on dec. 1, 2009 third windshield was installed.late in december, 2009 that windshield developed a crack on the bottom of the driver's side. Again nothing struck the windshield to cause the crack.the auto glass company states that this is unusual but nothing they are doing during the installation would cause this problem to occur three consecutive times. We drove the car for two years, 2007 to 2009 without problems with the windshield.only after a replacement was installed did the cracks start appearing.the cracks in the replacement windows on the driver's side do cause visibility and safety issues.

2007 jeep commander windshield easily chipped twice during the year of 2008. Not cracked yet, but will have to replace eventually. I did not realize that other commander owners had experienced same until reading online forum.this seems to be a design flaw.

While driving on the freeway, my vehicle was struck with a pebble which caused it to chip.days later, the entire windshield was cracked.the dealership looked at it, took pictures, submitted it to determine whether they would replace it due to defect, etc.i was told by several automotive professionals that the situation was odd.i never heard back from the dealership, and after several attempts of trying to contact them, was told they were still waiting.months had passed and i still never got anywhere with chrysler so i replaced the windshield out of pocket in nov. 2007.since then i have 2 new stone chips and a 3rd that resulted in the same splintering crack across the entire windshield.the same has recently happened to my 2008 dodge avenger when a small chip splintered in 5 different directions.in all the years i have been driving and all the vehicles my husband and i have owned i have never had even a chip in a windshield, even while living on a gravel road.is this just bad luck or is chrysler to blame for cheap/faulty parts?i have seen many service bulletins on your website regarding this as well.

Sunroof/windows leak and cause water to flood into the passenger side floor area.up to an inch of standing water accumulates in passenger floor area during periods of heavy rain.

Applied defroster to windshield during cold weather <10 deg f, andwindshield interior glass cracked in multiple areas. All cracks started from base of window.

I have a 2007 jeep commander. I live in virginia. The temperature has been in the 30's.with no apparent cause (no rock hitting or anything), my windshield started with a tiny hairline crack (bottom middle) and in a couple days, the cracked line became "l-shaped" and moving left.it was about 8 inches in length.i believe there is a design flaw in the windshield since nothing happened other than the cold temperature and my perhaps my use of the vehicle's defrost.

Sunroof leaks and windows leak cause water to flood into the passenger side of the truck and rear of the truck.also cause a shortage in the electrical system and shuts off the radio.driver side window module has a shortage when lowering and raising windows the lights flash and radio goes in and out.

Vehicle has less than 3,000 miles on it and already have a rock chip in front windshield. Happened when roads were clear and no gravel on road. Have seen message boards of other owners who state their frontwindshields are prone to chips as well.

2007 jeep commander windshields are flawed, and crack easily. Spreading across the whole windshield.i have had to have the windshield replaced once shortly after i purchased it in april 08, and 1/2 year later both sides have cracks in it.i believe the design or curve may be too 'fragile' for safety, not to mention my budget!

There is a designproblemwith the front windshield.in the last three weeks i have gotten three hits to the windshield while driving on the expressway.all three were below the wiper line.the first one resulted in an immediate crack which wa s now a foot long.before i had a chance to repair that i received another stone hit.this one also cracked immediately, andwas about 8" long.this third hit happened this morning and could have been very dangerous.the hit was again below the wiper blade ,but this time the windshield shattered and blew small glass piecesinside the vehicle.if it would have been 6 more inches to the left i would have gotten hit in the face.as it was i got hit in the arm, and had glass dust and shards all over the dashboard and passenger seat.i am scared to drive this vehicle now.

Windshield started cracking from top edge on passenger side, about 5 inches from the side, for no apparent reason.no evidence of a chip and no rock hit the windshield as far as we know.this happened on a rental car so it's possible that the crack was already started when we picked up the car and we didn't see it - there's a small portion of the glass that is black at the top so we wouldn't have been able to see the crack in this area if it was already there.the crack spread down a couple of inches from the black area and then started across the windshield.

The tire-pressure-monitor system has been defective since the purchase of my jeep.my jeep service-center has attempted many times to correct the problem with no success.since the jeeptpm system is reporting bogus information, the tpm error messages are useless.therefore the entire tpm system is useless and not operating as required by the national highway traffic safety administration (nhtsa), dot., 49 cfr parts 571 and 585, [docket no. Nhtsa 2005-20586], rin 2127-aj23

While coming to a stop, front right ball joint failed causing lower control arm to pivot downwards with wheel attached. Vehicle came to a stop resting on wheel which was now facing down.
