When the vehicle was running the engine and electrical system turnedoff by itself. I wasvery affraid because the vehiclewas used by my wife. I reported this to triangle jeep dealers mantainance service, but they didnot find the problem. The warrantywas close to expire and the critical problem persisted.

Our 2006 jeep commander v8 4.7l has stalled while driving at least 5 times.3 times on the highway and twice on slow turns.initially the problem seemed related to the ignition switch.just a slight brush against the key was enough to kill the engine and some of the electrical systems (specifically power assist).while out of town during this past christmas the third highway failure and first slow turn failure occurred.the out of town dealer replaced the ignition switch.another slow turn failure occurred on march 20, 2008, where the disabled power assist had my wife veering into oncoming traffic.we had the dealer pick up the car at our home.the service manager stated that this was the fifth commander he had personally seen with this issue.the current fix was to upgrade the firmware of the engine controller unit.i asked for and received the technical service bulletin for this repair (case number k23158981, star on line number: 18190602 0.4).the bulletin did not mention the root cause for this issue and the recommendation only states that the engine controller should be flashed.i asked for further technical details in hopes of finding some confidence that this issue has truly been diagnosed and fixed, but was told that no more information was available.the service manager was fairly confident that the issue would be resolved with this fix, but he could not be certain.frankly, that's just not good enough with this kind of safety concern.we are at 39k miles and out of our warranty.dealing with dc's corporate office has been a nightmare and have refused to provide any real assistance.we are looking to get out of this car as we no longer have confidence in it's safety.the local dealership has been nice enough, but beyond trying to give us the best deal possible on a '08 commander they haven't been able to really assist us in getting out of this vehicle.

I was driving my new 2006 jeep commander limited home from a children's party at approximately 8:30 pm on christmas eve and was traveling northbound on the taconic state parkway at 54 mph with the cruise control activated. The vehicle cut out completely(stall), it lost all electrical power, the headlights and all interior lighting went out, the engine shut off.fortunately i was traveling at the time on a straight section of road and there were no other cars on the road. I went down and switched the ignition key to the off position and immediately back to the on position andthe vehicle restarted and all the lights came back on. My wife was sitting in the second row of seats with our 10 month old baby and she witnessed everything and confirms what i experienced. A week ago the vehicle did the same thing , but this time i was stationary in a local shopping mall parking lot, engine cut out and the lights went off, and the vehicle immediately restarted when i turned the key. The vehicle shut off again today with my wife driving it, she had stopped and left the engine running to retrieve something from the floor, andwhen she went to pull away the vehicle was shutdownthe dealership has ordered a new front power train module for this vehicle, and that will be fitted tomorrow morning at 10:30 am .this now represents the thirdseparate chrysler vehicle and sixth power train computer.chrysler did a buy back' from me in decemeber 2005on my 2005 durango, which after 6 months of ownership, from new had cut out approximately 7 times .my previous dodge vehicle was a 2003, ram pickup with the 5.7 literwhichexhibited all the same problems , but almost caused me to have a very serious accident when it shutoff pulling on o a local parkway.fortunately, i pulled the shifter into neutral and steering on to the shoulder, but we were almost hit by another car that was traveling up the parkway.

Intermittently but frequently the abs and other dashboard lights come on and the car drags and stops in the middle of the road. Its very dangerous. Sometimes i cannot get the car to go without sitting and waiting for long periods of time.it has happened since i have owned it but no one can diagnose it and i don't know when it will happen.

We have called jeep to let them know what is going on with the vehicle. The computer to the transmission is putting in gears that are not correct. Sometimes u can let gas go and jeep will be running 20 to 30 miles on its own. Also yesterday i put the jeep on neutral and it went reverse real fast about 15 miles. The jeep was level so no excuse why it should be going backwards on neutral. I have called jeep and let them know and they tell me i have to take it to get fixed. I don't have the money to do this right now. This can really cause a accident if someone was in the back of my jeep at that time . I took it to get checked at auto zone and they told me it was factory codes and they could not help but what the truck was doing could be very dangerous.

In two different occasions during a full stop and second time will reducing speed to a stop 2006 jeep commander 5.7 hemi engine will stop running and loose all electrical power to the vehicle, power brake will become hard and also the steering.vehicle's power will come back up after several tries in the ignition.

Driving under certain conditions the vehicle engine completely shuts off and stalls. This happens on the highway, mostly at speeds of about 45-60 mph.the two recalls available on the vehicle as it relates to this issue (tcm/pcm ) ( ignition switch) have been recently fixed by the dearlership, however the vehicle continues to mulfunction in the same manner and appears to be getting worse. Contacting chrysler, they are abrasive and uncooperative. A little research shows that there are several owner complaints on this very issue dating back to 2006-2007-2008. There appears to be an "active" investigation ongoing by the nhtsa-office of defects investigations. What is the status of this investigation-10 years later???there appears to be no interest on the part of the manaufacturer to address this issue without the vehicle owner incurring massive loses in endless diagnostic and repair expenses.

I leased my 2006 jeep commander 4x2 4.7 v8 in 2006. The vehicle began having problems the same day i brought it home. The vehicle stalls frequently and the electric system disables. The stalling occurs without warning. The stalling also occurs at various speeds and while the vehicle is not moving. When the engine shuts off, the vehicle is completely disabled. The brakes wont work and i lose total control over the vehicle. I was involved in an accident in 2007 due to this issue, jeep/chrysler has denied the repair even though i received a recall letter. The odometer is also incorrect, it changes numbers frequently. Chrysler informed me that the vehicle is safe to drive and denied any further repairs concerning the recall. The vehicle is still the same, it stalls very often. Please help me.

2006 jeep commander stalls out.while driving down the road all electrical went and steering locked up.put back in park and cranked up.i have already had the pcm flashed with new software.and it still does it.

My 2006 jeep commander keeps dying when i'm driving it!i have taken it to the dealership many times over the last 2 years and they tell me there is nothing that can be done because they can't "duplicate my problem".i have filed for the lemon law and my hearing is tomorrow. I hope to get out of this vehicle before disaster strikes my family or another texas family that may be on the road the same time i am.

I explained the previous evening i noticed steering did not seem right and i had to push on gas more to get the car to have power. I mentioned this to my husband in case it was time to check spark plugs and get a tune up. The next morning i went through a car wash and started a 30 mile commute. While driving 65-70 mph on a highway the vehicle lights and all power shut down without warning. The only thing working was the radio. No brakes, steering was different. Thankfully this time was able to pull to a shoulder and coast to an offramp. I coasted to a stop, put in park then tried to start. The vehicle started again and i drove straight to the dealership 4 miles away. I explained to the dealer and also called the maker of the vehicles recall dept. They opened a case. At this point no one has any idea what happened and the issue is intermittent. They cannot replicate and i have not had my car for 6 days. I have researched that i am not the only one this has happened to and most people become a middle man between the dealer, the warranty company, and no resolution is ever made. Many became frustrated and sold and cut their losses. They continued to drive the vehicle and it continued to happen. I am not clear on the statistics but i read one blog that stated this incident has caused 2 accidents. I have survived cancer and i have 3 chilldren. I cannot consiously drive the vehicle again. I am thankful this did not happen driving uphill on a dark mountainside. We had planned a trip to la that had to be cancelled due to lack of safety. I am starting an uphill battle or i will be forced to sale. If so many people have had this issue since 2006 why hasn't there been a resolution. People get the computer fixed only for it to happen again which tells me the computer itself is faulty. I am not sure what to do and i am desperate to resolve the situation. It will put us in danger.

The sunroof drain design was faulty. During raining weather, the sunroof drains cannot handle the collected rain and the rain will overflow and go into the car. The rain that overflows falls into the front panel and has caused multiple electrical failures and shortages. Most importantly the water has damaged the instrument panel and headlight controls which causes them to shut off while operating the vehicle.

The front module is corrupt. It causing various electrical issue. Lights, blinkers, radio, speakers, dashboard displays, heating/cooling, are all inoperable. Jeep is claiming that this is not their responsibility. This part is not mechanical. I can understand wear and tear but this issue would be a faulty part not an issue of maintenance or the lack of. Without a recall, i am subject to expense that could end up costing me $1000 to $3000. I find this to be situation where jeep is taking advantage of their clientele. I have searched multiple forums and found this to be a re-occurring issue in many of jeeps models. This an injustice and unethical act upon the consumer. Thisissue has been escalating since 2012.

My 2006 jeep comannder is experiencing problems listed by many owners, delayed tranmission engagement, warning lights flashing on & off, won't start. It has stalled once. I have checked my vin # for recalls and it's not on any list. I am afraid to drive my vehicle and have no other tranportation. The dealer i contacted has not heard about the flashing light problem and has not got back to me after giving him my vin #. I am also experiencing problems, although not life threatening, they should not be happening to a $40,000 vehicle; whistling windows, the side of my drivers seat broke off and it contains the electrical cords for my seat, the windows don't opreate properly. I did not think any of these things to be of consequense until i started researching my interior light problem.

Enginestalled on several different occasions at different speeds.gives no warning.has happened about 10 times over the past year.brought it to the dealership in october 2006, computer was reset, but no problem found.happened several times after that, but didn't bother bringing in due to dealership finding nothing wrong.happenedagain last week, had another appointment at dealership in a few days.very scary issue.not only am i worried about myself, but my 3 and 1 year old in the back seat was extremely scary.hope this problem was resolved soon before someone was killed.if the dealerships could not find anything wrong with the jeep. I feltthe whole thing needed to be recalled.to big of aliability, don't you think???!!!!!!

I am having trouble with my head lights flashing and my dash board flashing on and off and it is very dangerous when it happens at night bcz my lights go on and off making it hard to drive and to focus on the road.my seat belts falling apart and not wanting to latch and is hard to get it apart when it does.not sure what is going on but any helpful advise would be appreciated.

2006 jeep commander. All dashboard electrical systems fail after starting vehicle. The vehicle will continue to operate. After several minutes dashboard indicators come on as normal but engine light remains lit. Owners manual states driving with engine light on should not affect vehicle operation. Also states engine light should go off after several days of normal operation.

Saturday 25th february and guess what- yep the jeep has a new trick to add to it's already growing list of electrical faults, (odi#10151913&10148480) please can you add the following to my long list of complaints .at approximately 12.45pm 2/25/06 i was parked outside the rt44 branch of the ulster savings bank, having just gone in there to cash a check, i came out and attempted to start the vehicle, turned the ignition key- nothing, no lights zero response, tried again- still nothing. I removed the key put it back in the ignition, still nothing.got out walked around in disgust, got back in and turned the key once more and this time it fired up first time.i immediately called hyde park motors service dept and spoke to kerry there, i asked if there was anything to be concerned about and he told me no providing it didn't turn the engine check light on, which it had not done.spoke to pete the service guy at hyde park motors it turns out that the not starting when the key is turned issue is directly related to a front power train module problem that dc are aware of.

My 2006 jeep commander's ignition key is so sensitive to touch that if it is bumped while driving, the key turns the engine off causing the vehicle to shut down and making steering almost impossible. I have almost crashed coming of a highway and it has happened multiple times. I am 6' tall and when i move my foot off the gas the knee hits the key ever so slightly and the key switches off.

I was driving my new 2006 jeep commander, automatic transmission 6 cyl engine.i am 6'4.25" tall and weigh 205 lbs.i have proportionately sized limbs and appendages.i was driving at about 35 mph on a road near my house and all of the sudden the car turned off.the key was brushed by my knee and the vehicle abruptly quit.there is no way for me to fit in the seat and put the seat far enough back that there is no risk of the key turning off while still letting my arms reach the wheel.the key protrudes directly perpendicularly out of the dash, intercepting my knee dead on from the front.i had driven the car for over 100 miles before this ever happened.then it happened again this morning.come to think of it, the new jeep grand cherokee that my friend has, this has happened too. The placement of the ignition switch, combined with its angle on the dashboard and the slightly large size of the key fob make this a big risk for taller drivers like myself.the key only barely has to be grazed (i could not feel it happening) and the vehicle shuts off (while in motion!) and has to be put into park in order to be restarted. I think that eventually someone will have an accident keeping control of their car when it unitentionally shuts off on them, now it has happened to me 3 times within about 200 miles, and like i said, there is no physically possible way for me to adjust the seat so that my arms reach the wheel and me knee does not reach the key.this seems dangerous and i wanted to bring it to your attention immediately so that chrysler can modify the design of either the key fob or the ignition switch in order to prevent people from causing damage to themselves or their vehicle. Thanks, ryan weatherby.

I own a 2006 jeep commander and have had continuous problems with engine stalling. I have taken the vehicle to a local dealer numerous times and they have not been able to resolve the problem. The service department says that a flash update needs to be done and that it is a daimler chrysler problem and that there is nothing they can do. My wife drives the vehicle and has had the vehicle stall on her on numerous times while sitting at red lights and it has happened as she is driving as well. I am very concerned since i have been told three different times that there is nothing that can be done at the dealership that will resolve my vehicles problem. I hope that someone is looking into the stalling problems with this particular vehicle and will do something quick to resolve this.

Jeep commander had significant failures. Command module caused vehicle tolose all power and control while traveling in heavy highspeed traffic.sub frame mis manufactured causing vehicle to out of service for over 2 weeks. Brake rotors warped causing reduced braking.

Vehicle stalls at all speeds, whether slowing or accelerating. Vehicle has stalled at least 8 times in last several months. One time, i was driving more than 60 mph on an highway. When taken in for repair, jeep claims they cannot find a problem although they admit other commander owners are experiencing the same problem.

While driving approximately 30 mph, dashboard lights began to flicker off and on and steering vehicle into a left turn was hard to do.took vehicle to jeep service department and was advised that problem is a electric stability control issue, the module is defective and manufacturer has not identified a fix.was told i could purchase a new module, approx. $400.00 for install, but there is no guarantee that problem will go away.lightening continues to flicker approximately 3 - 4 times per month.able to drive vehicle, but confidence in jeep autos is shaken.manufacturer should be held accountable.

First annoyance was the inside door handle on the drivers side. It failed to open the door at around 45,000 miles. Then the rear passenger inside door handle just crumbled out of nowhere around 47,000 miles.then around 50,000 miles the brakes 'felt different' when braking and it felt to hard to press down on the pedal to stop the vehicle. The brake pedal felt hard as a rock then the abs warning lights came on and after a diagnosis i was told that it had to be replaced. Whenever we went through a puddle of water on a turn the jeeps steering would lock up and just kept moving forward & not turning.

2006 jeep commander stalls at no particular time, rolls back on an incline after taking foot off brake pedal, vehicle will shut off at no particular time.jeep has recalls for these problems but the vin says none is available therefore dealer will not perform recall. Recall is for the v8 model but the vehicle has the exact same transmission and has the same characteristics even though it is a v6 model.very unsafe to drive while having these problems.

Vehicle turned on and as i was pulling out of drive way, the truck turned off and could not get it to turn back on, it makes only a clicking sound, i have called three different jeep dealers and say to not have the part or know when it will be available.it has been 5 months since the recall, how much longer should any one have to wait for the availability of the ignition switch and i am now without a vehicle, which is my only means of commuting.and to make matters worst right now i don't have the means to fix it out of pocket,i can't afford it. Please assist in this matter, something has to be done.

In two different occasions during a full stop and second time will reducing speed to a stop 2006 jeep commander 5.7 hemi engine will stop running and loose all electrical power to the vehicle, power brake will become hard and also the steering.vehicle's power will come back up after several tries in the ignition.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander 4x2. The contact stated that the engine stalled on numerous occasions. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system); however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

We purchased our 2006 jeep commander in november, 2008. The first problem we experienced was the rough vibration of the front end. We took it to our mechanic and was told that he was unable to see any thing physically wrong. This problem has increased over the years.the second problem we noticed, all of the interior door handles broke which creates some difficulty in exiting the vehicle. We maintained regular maintenance on this vehicle and the only other problem we experienced until now, we purchased two new batteries and the air condition blower was replaced. In august, 2014, i started the truck, preceded out of the parking lot and all the dash lights came on after a minute or so the lights went off but the engine light stayed on for 1 day. It has done this several times and then the lights started coming on while i was driving at any speed it appeared as if the truck was shutting down. If i was able to i would pull over and restart the truck this practice did not stop the lights from coming on and off. I was sitting at the red light and proceeded to move the vehicle when the light change after approximately 5 seconds of acceleration the truck shut completely off the driver behind me couldn't have none i was stopping because i never hit the brakes. I placed the vehicle in park and restarted it. Yesterday while driving all the lights came on and flashed off and on for about 5 minutes. I continued to drive for approximately 10 miles turned the key off and the key was unusually hot. This morning the truck would not start everything inside the vehicle came on and i could hear a clicking sound coming from the engine i waited a few minutes and tried it again, after 2 tries the truck started. If this is a manufacturer defect whom do i contact to help me resolve this matter. I am afraid this truck in it's current condition may be a hazard to myself and others.

Defective valve seat fell into cylinder. Many complaints on line including mine. Fully maintained. Ran fine and parked. Wouldn't re-start. Had it checked and the cylinder was shattered. Glad i wasn't driving on the roadway as the engine would of stopped and so would steering and brakes.jeep was in storage since 2015.

Was driving to work and was accelerating to about 55mph, when my 2006jeep commander stopped accelerating and had apparently jumped into neutral. The check engine light also came on at that time. I had to pull over put the vehicle in park and then back into drive, and then it was fine. This exact same thing has occurred about 3-4 times. Always with the check engine light going off soon after.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander 4x2. The contact stated that she was sitting at a traffic stop when the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that she restarted the vehicle and the vehicle functioned normally. The failure recurred on another occasion. The contact attempted to turn the engine several times before the vehicle would start. The contact took the vehicle to the dealer for inspection but he failure was unable to be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 70,000.

The a/c inlet fitting is defective causing the coolant to leak out and the engine to overheat, the pcm is defective and says the tire pressure is low when it isnt

When driving vehicle just stops running completely- powers down! have to put in park then restart. Has happened numerous times and is scary especially when in the middle of an intersection turning and lose power steering and control of turning.

Several time our 2006 jeep commander has shut off for no reason. 4 times while turning into oncoming traffic. This issue can kill somebody.

2006 jeep commander stalls out at low speeds.car shuts down, need to put on brake, turn off engine, and restart vehicle.has been very close calls on being rear ended when crossing traffic signals and stop signs.has recurred 20 times.

2006 jeep commander - vehicle stalling before acceleration, power-steering became difficult: between 24,000 - 30,000 miles, the vehicle began to stall and the motor has completely shut down immediately following the incident. No actions were taken at the dealership. We were told if it does not happen while at the dealer, there is nothing that can be done.the vehicle just reached 30,000 miles and the power steering is becoming increasingly more difficult. A scrubbing and loud noise can be heard while turning the wheel to the right. The vehicle is scheduled to be looked at by the same dealership.

4.7l jeep commander 06 stalling during idle and driving.

Engine stalls occurred 4 times in the year since obtained. All at low speed.possible stall at high speed but seemed engine started itself up.other times had to restart.

Engine stalls and shuts off when driving.

Dt*: the contact stated the vehicle stalled on three different occasions.after the first two, the service dealer replaced the front control module.after the third incident the manufacturer was contacted who offered to send a technician to analyze the problem.updated 10/17/2006 - the first time the vehicle stalled the vehicle was in drive and the consumer's foot was on the brake.the second time the vehicle stalled while being drive 50 mph.the third time the vehicle stalled while reversing out of a paring space and this was after the front control module had been replaced.the fourth time the vehicle stalled while driving 30 mph.the vehicle was taken tohe dealer

During sept. '06, i informed chrysler and a chrysler dealership of a safety defect--stalling in traffic--with my 2006 jeep commander limited .from sept. '06 to dec. '07, i made several phone calls and wrote several letters to chrysler (via its registered agent) concerning this problem. All of my letters were ignored.from sept. '06 to dec. '07, chrysler required me to take the vehicle to the dealership concerning the stalling problem, even though chrysler's employees knew a task force had been formed to deal with the problem. In late dec. '07, i discovered an internet article entitled "jeep stalling problem" and faxed the article to chrysler.according to the information contained in this article, many customers have experienced the same problem with the 2006 jeep commander limited, and even chrysler has not been able todetermine the cause.as a result of gaining access to this article, i was able to challenge chrysler's dishonest assertion that my problem was unique and that no other consumer had complained of this problem. Therefore, in jan. '08, a chrysler manager phoned me indicating that chrysler had agreed to buy back my vehicle because of the stalling problem and a resulting automobile accident (sept. '07)(note:this accident occurred one year after chrysler was notified of the safety issue).i was told a representative of impartial services group (isg) would give me a call concerning details of the buy back.i received a call from isg; however, it is clear that this company works on behalf of chrysler.as a result, i am still driving an unsafe vehicle and have almost been involved in three accidents within the past two weeks.chrysler has ignored my request for a rental car until a buy back agreement is reached. I recently notified chrysler's investors--cerberus and daimler--of my experience.

Bought this jeep in 2007.recently when i slow down to stop it jumps and stalls out.it has been to the mechanic several times and he cannot figure out the cause.i found a forum about this problem and it seems no one can figure out why this vehicle does this.

Vehicle has stalled twice during the last week.once driving through a neighborhood as 20 mph.second time was turning into a parking space at a target store.

2006 jeep commanders engine stalls and headlights go out. I took it to the dealership, at which time they advised that they could not help me. They said they would have to see it happen...like when my lights went out on a dark freeway almost killing me and my husband.

The vehicle spontanously shuts off while driving down the road.

When the vehicle was running the engine and electrical system turnedoff by itself. I wasvery affraid because the vehiclewas used by my wife. I reported this to triangle jeep dealers mantainance service, but they didnot find the problem. The warrantywas close to expire and the critical problem persisted.

While driving my car it simply cut off - went dead.i had to pull off the road with no power steering.this is the second time this has happened with this vehicle.once off the road - i am able to put the car in park and restart.this happens for no reason.i have had the car in the shop several times with no explanation what is happening.

My 2006 jeep commander stalls at highway speeds and has to be restarted in motion.it also stalls in the middle of intersections and while sitting at a stop light.i have been stranded in the middle of an intersection at least 4 times and it has happened at 70mph at least twice.i am afraid to drive this vehicle.the dealer has done all they can to try to fix it but can never recreate the problem.it stopped for about 6-8 months but yesterday they had to replace my battery and it started all over again.it has done it 3 time in the last 24hrs with my childern in the car.i have seen numerous posts regarding the same problem and can't believe a recall has not been issued.i guess someone has to be injured or worse.

Vehicle has stalled twice during operation nearly causing severe accidents.once while exciting off ramp of freeway at around 40 mph and once while accelerating from a stop.with no power steering or brakes either situation could have been deadly, we were just lucky that the drivers around us were alert and we were able to restart the vehicle and get away safely.the second occurrence happened with my family in the car and frightened us all.the vehicle is currently in the shop, the dealer mentioned no known problems.i came home and did a quick web search and found several postings on various web sites stating the same problem. Some one is going to be killed if they have not already as a result of this.where is the recall?

Engine stalling, no start.

Jeep commander stalls at all speeds.it has happen to vehicle 8 times since i have owned it.the most recent incident happen on march 14 2007.pulling out of grocery store parking lot and jeep completely dies.cars lock there brakes to avoid hitting my car.i had my wife and 2 yr old daughter in car with me.drove car to dealership right away and told them to fix it.they told me later that day they could not find anything wrong with it and just flashed the computer for the third time.do not feel safe in car.there is no particular time of the day, temperature or speed when car stalls.working on getting rid of the car and get one i do not have worry about getting hurt or possible dying in.

My jeep commander has shut off on a few occasion in the middle of driving. Most recently it shut off going approximately 60 mph while going down a steep hill. All gauges, gas power, and air turned off the radio was still on. It happens infrequently and not in conjunction with any other action that i know of.

Engine stalls at highway speeds. Loss of power steering and brakes.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander 4x2.the contact stated that the engine stalled at least five times.the vehicle lost power and the engine completely shut off while driving 40 mph.she only had to turn the key once to restart the engine.she also stated that the transmission light illuminated during the stalling and the transmission was stuck in third gear.the contact had to drive nine miles to the dealer with the vehicle in third gear.she paid out of pocket for the repair.the dealer stated that the failure was caused by build up in the transmission filter.the current mileage is 16,011.updated 01-14-08.updated 12/12/07.

While traveling over 70 mph on the highway, the vehicle stalled.i assumed it was due to it being lower than 1/4 full.i refueled with 87 octane to full, but the vehicle continued to stall at full stops and on the highway a total of 9 more times.the next day the vehicle stalled again so i refilled it with 89 octane.the vehicle stopped stalling after that.

- the contactowns a 2006 jeep commander with a current and failure odometer reading of 5000 miles. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled at high speeds. The contact was driving under dry conditions at about 70 mph when the stalling occurred. The contact was able to get the vehicle to the side of the road without a crash. Once the vehicle was in park then it would restart with no problem. The contacttook the vehicle to the dealer, and they said that they could not find any problems with the vehicle. The contact also called the manufacturer, and they told him that they would talk about his vehicle, but offered no solution.updated 8/10/09 updated 08/13/09.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander 4x2.while driving 2-5 mph, the engine stalled without warning.the vehicle also lost power steering.the vehicle was able to be restarted.the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure.the current and failure mileages were 8,755.

My new 2006 jeep commander now shuts the engine off at will while driving.i was exiting i-4 onto cr579 going just under 40 mph when the steering went out (so i thought) all gauges were lit i rolled off onto the side of the road once in neutral the truck restarted.i dropped it at courtesy chrysler 3/29 and was informed prior to inspection that the problem had been seen on the commanders and was apparently prevalent on the pacifica model however there was nothing they could do if no code came up so at this point i am expected to pick the truck up tell my wife to drive around my children as if things are a ok.spoke to the service manager who stated that he is aware of the problem and he would check to see if dc is working on anything to fix it and if not he will tell me(very comforting)the dealership is veryvery helpful and professional but apparently just don't know what to do.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. While driving 45 mph the vehicle stalled without any prior warnings. The vehicle was towed to the dealer and was restarted .the technician could not locate any error codes, nor duplicate the failure. No repairs were made.the failure mileage was 49,000.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander 4x2.the contact stated that the vehicle stalled while idling and also when the cruise control was activated at 45 mph.the vehicle was taken to the dealer twice, but the failure could not be duplicated.the current mileage is 12,800 and failure mileage was 8,000.

Jeep commander stalls when slowing, or parked.there has also been one occasion where the vehicle stalled on the interstate at 70mph.the vehicle was just serviced on the 6th of december and the dealership "could not duplicate the issue", however since i have got the vehicle back it has been worse.

I have a 2006 commander which tries to die when idling. While waiting in line at bank or at stop signs/lights. The rpms drop from usually 1000rpm to below 500rpm.i have found that it will only do this in drive.if i shift it into neutral, the rpms immediately go back up. It has happened for the past year, at least twice a month.

Vehicle stalls with no warning.vehicle stalled about a dozen times.dealership had vehicle in three times and cannot repair.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander 4x2.the contact stated that the vehicle stalls when driving at 5 mph.the failure has occurred twice.while pulling out of a parking lot, the vehicle appeared as if it would stall.the contact applied the brakes and crashed into the side of another vehicle.a police report was filed.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer who stated that she was not applying enough in order to keep it from stalling.she called the manufacturer who stated that no one else is encountering this failure.no recalls were available for the vehicle.the manufacturer advised her to call her dealer.the dealer stated that they do not know how to duplicate the failure.the current mileage is 8,894 and failure mileage was 8,000.

2006 jeep commander stalls when driving.unexpected and unpredictable.

While driving my 2006 jeep commander in a very crowded parking lot, it completely stalled without warning!! the car behind me had to make a very sudden stop to avoid an accident. The power steering and brakes went out and i had to put the car in park and restart it. This same thing occurred when my husband was driving it approx. One month ago, but we wrongly attributed it to the car having only a quarter tank of gas in it at the time. I have 8 year old triplets that depend on this car daily and i will not put their safety at risk!! please help us scared commander owners to make chrysler do the right thing before someone is seriously injured or even killed. Thank you.

2006 jeep commander engine dies suddenly. Two different dealers could find nothing wrong. Problems occurred at least 14 times and 7 times in the last 90 days. First occurred at 2500 miles and dealer said nothing wrong. Occurred at 8000, 9000, 12000, 15100, 15500, 17500, 18600, 18700, 19000 and 19406. At 17500 took to different dealer who replaced the battery after towing it in and kept car for 4 days to try and diagnose issue. On 12/8, we smelled gas and we could not restart it for 30 seconds. On 12/21 it died on a railroad crossing. My wife crosses 6 tracks a day and it has died one other time on the tracks, and one time while merging into 65 mph traffic. Have spent 1 hour on phone with chrysler customer service so far because i told them we only drive it to work and we want a loaner or new vehicle immediately. Am also proceeding with texan lemon law filing. This looks like nhtsa#ea07007.

I have been having problems with my 2006 jeep commander it has been stalling while traveling at slow speeds and idling.the vehicle stalls in movement with no warnings.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander 4x2.water drains in from the sunroof, down into the dashboard, and then onto the front and rear carpet.the contact stated that he can hear the water while driving.the coils underneath both front seats have rusted due to the water entering the vehicle.the contact does not know what kind of damage the water has caused to the interior of the vehicle.he stated that there are two drains on each side of the sunroof, and they are not draining the water properly.the first time the driver's side drain failed, the dealer stated that a bug was stuck in the drain.the second time, the dealer stated that dirty rain water was in the passenger drain.in addition, the air conditioner fan has begun to flutter.this failure has occurred twice.the dealer repaired the sunroof during the first visit, and the contact made the repair the second time.the current mileage was 7,500 and failure mileage was 3,000.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander 4x2. The contact stated that the check engine, check fuel cap, and air bag warning indicators illuminated. In addition, the vehicle had experienced a loss of power. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 14v438000 (electrical system) however, the part to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 99,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

The cups inside the handles of both of the back doors of my 2006 jeep commander are broken to pieces. Although this may sound like a cosmetic issue, yesterday, my 13 year old daughter threw up all over the inside of the truck because when we pulled over for her to throw up, she was completely unable to open the door!!! i cannot say how angry i am at this scenario. I am upset because i have to clean the car, but am furious because, had this been an evacuation situation, she could have died! i contacted my jeep dealership and was told that it will be over a thousand dollars to replace the entire door panels in the back. I'm sorry, but this should be a safety recall!!!

Door pull intera all pull off door panel will not work to got out car have to open door from out side

I own a 2006 jeep commander, and have 3 doors in which the interior door handle bezel has broken.by researching price of repair, i have found that this is actually a very common issue.i was told by my dealership that it was my own fault for being too rough on my door handles, however i have never had this problem with any other vehicle i've owned.i have 3 daughters ranging in age from 18 months to 14 years, and i doubt they should be strong enough to break door handles.i'm reporting this as i feel this is a defect from the manufacturer, in light of the multitude of examples i'm finding on the internet, and in talking to other commander owners.this is also a safety issue, since in the event of an emergency, my daughters may not be able to open the doors.examples of this issue:http://www.jeepcommander.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2858&page=1http://www.jeepcommander.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15893&highlight=door+handle

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander 4x2. The contact stated that both front interior door handles, which were plastic, were cracked. In addition, the rear passenger interior door handle fractured. The defective door handles prevented the vehicle occupants from exiting through the doors. The automated window was released in an open position and the exterior door handles were engaged in order to exit the vehicle. The authorized dealer and manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,000.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander. The contact stated that the driver and passenger door handles were cracked. The contact stated that the doors were able to be opened from the outside of the vehicle but the front passenger door could not be opened from the interior. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to call the manufacturer. The manufacturer was notified but provided no assistance. The failure mileage was unavailable.

My 2006 jeep commander door handles are breaking one at a time and makes the doors inoperative so in an accident, you cannot exit the vehicle.chrysler refuses to recall the vehicles over this issue and will probably wait until a fatality occurs.why does the consumer have to pay twice and not only that, but operate an unsafe vehicle.there are so many people out there with the same dangerous problem, that chrysler should be made to recall and repair these vehicles and not put the cost on the consumer who purchased these vehicles in good faith.

My car cut out at 65 mph in heavy traffic.i lost my power brakes and steering. Additionally i lost my airbags.this is the 12th time this has occurred.i called jeep and asked for a loaner or rental till this is resolved because there is no fix and they said they would not.i have nothing on my key ring that could have caused this problem and my knee is 8 inches from the ignition so i know i did not bump it with my knee.jeep will not work with me and state it is safe to drive and i should be careful and try not to hit any bumps.

Engine stalls at speeds above 60 mph. This happens while driving on the freeways and has happened several times in the last week.

There was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number 08v203000 (power train:automatic transmission:control module, tcm, pcm). The contact was uncertain whether the vin was included in the recall defect and planned to notify the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the defect.

I think it was around april 20th, i would have to check the date for sure..we were driving down the interstate doing about 70 mph and the veh started losing power.. It made a terrible noise , sounded if you were on the side of the highway and it was vibrating terrible. It has a terrible smell too it and lost total power and had to pull over. My husband got out and looked and there was oil pouring out of the rear end. The car would hardly move at all. We had it towed to the dealership and they advised the the rear differential went out. The jeep had 62000 on it and looks and road like a brand new car till then. We had that repaired 750.00 cost.nowwwwwwww we have a terrible leak not sure where it is coming from, when it rains we get 3 inches of water in the drivers side floor board, it leaked so bad the wiring is shorting out now. The carpet is getting molded and has a bad smell too it. We can not find the leak what so ever and it is getting rather frustrating having to have your feet in 3 inches of water when trying to drive.the speakers on the left side if shorted out on the satelliteradio but will work fine on cd's or am fm.the air condition now only works good on the drivers side and is warm on the passenger side.

There are reports all over the internet about this same issue with jeep commanders.this needs to be reviewed for recall and is a safety issue. The check park assist warning started to flash intermittently while the vehicle was in operation.when this occurred, all gear indicators on the dash would light up at the same time.there was initially no other indication that anything was wrong with the car.eventually, the check engine light came on and the dealer diagnosed it as needing a new transmission control module.the same events occurred within 2 weeks of installing the new module.dealer replaced it again and said the part was faulty.the same events occurred again with the next month.dealer was unable to find a problem and reset the computer/wiped the error.it occurred again and progressed to the car loosing accelerating power while driving and/or shifting in to lower gears for no reason. New dealer this time, says that it is the shifting control module.review of the issue on-line shows a long history of this problem even though i am fortunate enough not to have it happen within a few years of ownership.this is a safety issue that can cause injury to passengers when the car shifts down at highway speed and/or accidents because the driver no longer has control of acceleration.

Jeep commander with only 7,300 miles, and owned since sept 2006 has transmission failure.i have already been out of a car for 4 days, will be out of a car for another 7 at a minimum according to allen samuels dodge (dealer in keller, tx).will not help with rental car or loaner car.

I was driving my 2006 jeep commander out a parking lot and it lost complete power. It started stalling and i took the vehicle to a chrysler dealership and they say i have to pay to have the pcm updated and that affected the electronic shift module. I did some research after speaking with them and it seems to be a problem on this type of vehicle and even a recall (#08v20300).

I purchased a jeep commander in december 2005.right off i started having electrical and water leaking problems with my jeep.the vehicle would mysteriously turn off while idling and would accelerate quickly for no reason.in march i took my vehicle in complaining about the defects.the biggest complaint at the time was when you open your door to get in you literally get a foot soaking!!!!!!!!!the dealership could not resolve any of the issues that i had. They even laughed when i asked them what to do about the door and said i better get used to it because jeep was not going to do anything about it.in june of 2006 my check engine light kept coming on and i was still having problems with the electrical.i was in the process of moving and decided to take my vehicle to a different dealer.the dealer at that time told me not to worry about it that it was a minor repair and they could fix it when i settled in.so on the 16th of september i released my vehicle to dave smith auto for repair.i told them i wanted the leaking doors (now the passenger door was leaking as well)fixed or replaced, while they were fixing the electrical issues.the vehicle was in their shop for a whole month!!they could not get parts from jeep and they could not figure out how to fix the doors. Jeep told them it is the structure of the vehicle and there was nothing they would do about it. The vehicle was returned to me on october 13th , on saturday the 14th my family was returning home when we lost all panel electrical, i slowed down and since we were only a mile away from home, i continued to drive.not even 100 yards later the whole car went into complete convulsion. We had the vehicle towed back to dave smith and they are again attempting to fix it this car has put my family in great danger!!! yet jeep will not recall or refund my money,it is an outrage to me that they can sell a vehicle and not have to stand behind their product!!!

Jeep commander 2006 v8 4.7 -engine stalls while driving with 65 mi/h on the freeway!!!in the pasthas stalledseveral times when stopping on a red lights, but yesterday happened at a freeway speed! i will not drive my children with this vehicle until chrysler fix the problem.i have filed complaint with the company few weeks ago about stalling on stop lights and they said that i need to show the service person the problem ,but that very day the vehicle was in a good mood andi was not able to show the problem.the chrysler person told me that they willputmy case on hold for now( i guess they will look into it after the bloody crash).if i survive this jeep and its time for a new car i will remember all this...mean time i will inform ten thousand of my closest friends about my russian roulette with jeep commander.today i drove the vehicle to chrysler, jeep dealer in downtown los angeles and i see how this one goes...best regards and thank you

I have been having trouble getting my both of my front seat belts to latch.i have to hold the red button down for it to attach.then on april 3, 2015, even though my front seat passenger latched the seat belt, the sensor never quit chiming.the dealership, mack grubbs motors, in columbia, mshas not been able to fix the problem.

Seat belts gets hung up in door jam door does not retrace.

Could you add the to my jeep complaint (odi#10148480) the seat belt warning light issue is apparently a sensor that detects' negative weight 'in the seat, so now dcc have invented artificial gravity as well, but i'm shocked not to see that claim in their marvelous tv adverts- tee hee.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander 4x2.soon after the vehicle was purchased, the contact realized that the depth of the vehicle's third row seat is too short to accommodate a car seat or a booster seat.the dealer and manufacturer stated that the vehicle was designed and manufactured in that fashion.the engine size and powertrain were unknown.the current mileage is 7,000 and the failure mileage was unknown.unknown 06/14/07.

Jeep commander had significant failures. Command module caused vehicle tolose all power and control while traveling in heavy highspeed traffic.sub frame mis manufactured causing vehicle to out of service for over 2 weeks. Brake rotors warped causing reduced braking.

The vehicle has shut down on multiple occasions this week while both idling and when in transit. It caused a loss of steering capability and operation of the of the vehicle causing a safety issue. Calls have been made to both the dealership and the manufacturer without satisfactory resolution. The dealership acknowledged multiple complaints with the same issue.

2006 jeep commander stalls out.while driving down the road all electrical went and steering locked up.put back in park and cranked up.i have already had the pcm flashed with new software.and it still does it.

The same day i purchased my used 2006 jeep commander, i was attempting to open the rear passenger door from the inside when the trim around the handle cracked and a piece of plastic flew off. The handle now dangles, useless and loose. I was told by the dealer that they had also just replaced the driver's door panel prior to our purchase, having encountered the very same problem with that door. Unfortunately, it appears that these repairs require replacement of the entire interior door panel whenever the handle breaks...i'm being told it is a $700 repair.

All four interior door handles and plastic around the door handles are beginning to crack and break. The plastic indent underneath the interior door handles has become extremely brittle and will crack if you barely touch it. The driver side door handle has broken from the inside of the door panel and all the plastic surrounding the interior door handle has begun breaking and falling inside the door panel. I have thoroughly researched this issue and have found that this is a very common complaint and was surprised that there has not been a recall notice associated with this. Interior door handles are extremely fragile and can easily break off which would prevent someone from escaping the vehicle in an emergency. I took my car to the dealership and was told that to repair the door handle, the entire door panel needs to be replaced (at approximately $600 including parts and labor). This does not guarantee that the issue will not happen again as they have not made any changes to the door panels to prevent it from doing so. $2400 to repair the inside door handles of my vehicle with no assurance that it won't happen again seems to be immoral and illegal.

Door handles on jeep commander have a factory defect in manufacturing of the door handle carrier cup on the inside of the door panals.this is due to a poor plastic matrix resulting in embrittlement.this results in occupants being unable to exit the vehicle.i have researched this issue on various jeep forums and found it to be a universal problem.it is time for nthsa to hold chrysler rsponsible for this flaw and issue a safety recall.i use this vehicle to carry my children and it will cost over $2000 to replace the 4 door panels, the only fix.

The contact owns a 2006 jeep commander 4x2. The contact stated that the rear cross member and mounts were rusting. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure.the failure mileage was 113,000.updated 07/13/16*lj

I have had 3 door handles break since owning this vehicle. All of them cracked behind the handle, with 2 of those 3 already completely busted. At this point those 2 of the 3 handles are impossible to open if you don't know how to sit the handle just right on the inside edge. I'm concerned about safety. Jeep dealership said there was no recall on the handle, and wanted $850/per door to fix! you can't just replace the handle, you have to replace the entire door panel. This is a major design flaw on jeep's part, and should be fixed. It is a safety issue as well. Everyone in my family knows how to open the door in calm conditions, but in the event of an accident/panic situation i'm not sure we could think clearly enough to operate them. Scary!! i'm not comfortable having people ride with me, as i have to worry about their safety and safety concerns when i show them how to use the handles. This needs fixing by jeep!!

The front and rear door handles cracked, and don't work. If my child or the driver needs to get out they cant. My local dealership in orlando florida, wants me to pay $750 for each. This is crazy..... How can a handle cost that. Jeep should replace this faulty issue not me, i paid enough for the car. I have owned 3 jeeps in my life. This will be the last.

Driving down the highway and the vehicle powered down as if to shut off.it then thankfully started again.i took it to progressive chevrolet in massillon and they confirmed it is part of the p41/nhtsa 14v-438 recall.it has been there for 45 days.chrystler informs me the parts are available and will be there within the week.progressive informs me the parts are not available.i have been waiting since september 11, 2015 for the part.

Several times over a couple of months this vehicle has stalled while driving and has almost caused several accidents. Auto shops cannot identify the problem.

My car leaks during rain from the sunroof to the blue hose drain and flooded my car. Which messed up the electrical system. I'm having problems with my car saying it's over heating but it's not it's the electrical system telling the computer in car that it's how when its not and now my transmission is messed up we think. My car is currently at jeep dealer in cerritos, ca for 2 days now and no one can tell me what wrong.

When cruise is set car excels in speed

Well the jeep has yet another new habit, my wife took it into town today to pick up some diapers from the a+p supermarket and pulling into a parking spot at 3mph it decided to leap forward violently almost causing her to crash into the car in the spot in front.dcc are picking up the tab for the rental of a jeep grand cherokee while this one's fate is decided...please update my file to include the above incident if you have time and i will keep you posted mate,...

24 hours after getting my car back the windows went haywire. They are still not working right. While my husband was on the way back to the dealership yet again because of the electrical problem the gauges all lit up and went dead it showed i was out of gas even though it was full abs system stuck on while he was on the freeway after several attempts to get the car running he drove to the dealership with the engine light on and abs running. (sat 072107) they'll look at ittuesday.when my husband went to go get my car 07/25/07 he was advised that is was fixed. When he got in the car and started it there was nothing working on the dash at all and the abs were activated. When he went to the service director dave he agreed that there was something defiantly wrong and it was safe for my husband to leave it the car. 07/26/07 no one could tell me the statusi emailed jeep and this was there responsedear christina:thank you for contacting the chrysler customer assistance center regarding the service problems with your 2006 jeep commander. We are very sorry to learn of your dissatisfaction with the handling of your service needs. Intermittent problems are often very difficult for the dealer to duplicate. We have found that if the customer keeps a log or notes on when the problem does occur, this can assist the dealer in diagnosing the problem. Any specific information you are able to provide relative to when a certain problem appears, will help the dealer to perform prompt diagnosis and repairs. We regret your dissatisfaction and trust you will understand our position.thank you again for your email. Sincerely, sheila senior staff representative chrysler customer assistance center.
