The airbag system light is on the same recall for the 2019 jeep cherokee, which when you take it in the diagnostic is a cost for the same thing going on with their 2019 jeep cherokees so the recall should be on both years just not the 2019. If you don't have it reset then the airbags will not deploy if you be in an accident which is not safe.

My vehicle was hit with direct impact on front of vehicle and drivers side and no airbags deployed. Both vehicles involved where in motion

Service shifter light on and air bag light on

The contact owned a 2018 jeep cherokee. While the contact's vehicle was stopped, it was rear ended by another vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. There was no warning indicator illuminated. A police report was filed. The driver sustained back and neck injuries. The contact, who was seated in the rear driver's seat, sustained whiplash after his head struck the side window. The window broke and inflicted a cut on the contact's neck. The front passenger sustained a leg fracture. The other two passengers were traumatized. The driver and the rest of the passengers were transported to the emergency room via an ambulance for medical attention. Immediately following the crash, the fuel tank leaked and the front end of the vehicle was filled with smoke. The fire department was at the scene. The vehicle was totaled and was towed to a collision center. The dealer and the manufacturer were not made aware of the failure. The cause of the failure was not determined. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

Car consistently has airbag lights going on and off with no clear reason. The dealer ā€œfixedā€¯ it and said that there was a loose connection and the cleaned it and fixed it. Cost me $200 and within a week it was back to intermittently turning on and off

My sensors only work sometimes, my key fob only works when it wants.it's starting to have issues. My jeep stopped working on the highway all of a sudden

All the engine oil leaked out of the car and started to smoke while i was in motion and the engine light came on but was perfectly fine at first. I do not know what had happened but my engine is now messing up and i almost got in a car accident.

My car lost all power while in motion in the middle of a city street intersection with a shifter error code. Would now accelerate, and the steering wheel locked. Turned off and back on and did it instantly again. Called the dealership and was told it needed an oil change. I just purchased this vehicle 2 months ago.

The 'service shifter' was displayed on the dashboard and all the lights on the shifter were on.i had to shut off the car and turn it back on to make the lights go off, but after a few miles the lights came back on.the driver seat power switch has stopped working two times.i had it replaced the first time and not even a year later it stopped working again.

2018 jeep 22000 miles, has continued and worsening shiftier or transmission issue with red lights, needs service and locks out transmission changes to regulate speed.this has been at the two different dealers with an ongoing safety issue.i am a retired nicb special agent and have worked auto theft.

This has been a recurring issue. The on board screen will suddenly show "service shifter" and all the shifter indicator lights go red. This has happened while driving and also at initial starts. When vehicle is shut down and restarted, everything returns to normal. Doing some research that says overheating problems can ensue.

While driving service shifter warning message turns on for no reason. Resets with power cycle.

Driving down a city highway the service shifter alert came on. All of the lights next to the indicators on the shifter lit up. This has happened twice so far today. The parking brake has also been turning itself on as soon as the jeep is put in gear and the foot is let off of the brake.

'service shifter' error code started appearing on dashboard with all gear lights lit up next to the shifter. Problem resolved itself after restarting the vehicle. Mileage at approx 37k miles, identified as 'transmission shift electrical failure' by jeep dealership and replaced for around $700

Service shifter showing up on display multiple times.i had it replaced right away the following month. Chrysler helped with my repairs.

The service shifter light has gone off turning on all lights on the gear red. Ever since it came up it will keep coming up.

My car is showing "check shifter" message after only 11,000 miles. All the shifter lights turn on red. It happened when i turned on my car to put in gear and has been coming on more and more lately. Usually stays on when i first start and doesnt shut off until i turn off and restart vehicle.

During transit down the street and once the car turned on in the driveway, the shifter column lights are lit up in red, the dash reads service shifter. Please help us and others resolve this issue as it is a hit and miss with the dealerships and jeep stating that it is not an issue enough to call it a recall when there are dozens if not hundreds with the same issue.

While driving the service shifter appeared on dash. Had to pull over and restart the vehicle. This has happened several times and is becoming more frequent.

Service shifter on car display

While driving abs, check engine, parking brake light up. Brakes start to shake like if a tire is slipping but its not. Steering wheel gets stiff. Transmission shifts very hard, all symptoms go away if the car is warm sometimes. Its impossible to predict when it will start doing all of these symptoms at once. We have not taken the vehicle up to high speeds until we take it to get checked out by the dealer.

The battery constantly dies without any reasoning.i will park it, after it sits overnight, it dies. My neighbor has the same year model jeep i have and his started doing the same thing last week. After searching online it seems to be a major issue with 20q7,2018 and 2019 jeep cherokees.

Within the first 3-5 minutes of driving the vehicle after starting it, an error message will appear that says to put the vehicle in park and select a gear. This message usually appears when i begin slowing down towards a stop light or stop sign and prevents me from accelerating and i also lose my power brakes. Once my vehicle is stopped. I'll switch into park like the vehicle says but when i switch back to drive i have no power. I have to turn the car off and attempt to restart to get power again.multiple times this error has caused the car to stall and cut off while still in motion. Once the car is off, i have to usually wait 2-3 minutes to restart it an it can take multiple attempts to restart the vehicle. This error is extremely dangerous as it causes the vehicle to lose power while driving and leaves the driver stranded with the vehicle in the middle of the road often in an intersection.

All lights on shifter console light up red and light which says "service shifter" shows up on dash.reviews of this problem online is showing it to be a common problem.

Turned on just fine, pulled out to the street from the store gradually. Slowed down for the red light and before i stopped all the red lights turned on on the shifter andthen on my screen it said service shifter. I've only own this car for a month and doesn't even have plates on it yet.43000 miles when bought and i'm not a happy person

I bought the car in november 2018.the first 6 months i battled the wind shield wipers going out.as i had to see the dealership 5 times before they were properly fixed.now for the past month i have had a service shifter pop up and i have called the dealership and they said they would get back with me.now the service shifter is popping up everyday and it seems jeep has gotten a lot of complaints with this. Need some advice of what to do if dealership will not help. It's happening every day!!!

- 2.4l excessive oil consumption- new engine at 8k miles - emissions issues tripping the check engine light - air conditioner went out- computer/electrical issues with dash and interior - transmission stalling in traffic.- cannot maintain speed with cruise control - once parts are removed for repair they cannot be replaced properly and end up falling off. Fca america know about all these issues and continues to produce these cars at a price way above their value. Bottom line they are a fraudulent business that is producing crappy vehicles.

Warning appears about the shifter and all the lights come on. I read a forum where dozens of people are having this problem and having to replace their harness and wiring kit. I've also been told there's something about this models cruise control but when i search on here nothing comes up.

On 11/24/19 @ approximately 5:30pm lights illuminated saying service service shift adjustor.then on 11/29/19 went to drive the car made it a block from the house and car turned off.driving it to the dealership today (12/2) which is approximately half mile away died twice.after a few seconds it starts again.

I was getting a service shifter light and called the dealer and the said it was a recall it needed a system reboot to bring it in. I did. But that did not fix the problem the light is still on and after doing research it really is the wiring for the shifter. Which can cause the vehicle to not signal what gear it is in. My car had failed to to indicate which gear it has been in multiply times.

Service shifter warning keeps coming on and all park nutural revall light up at the same time.transmission bucks feels like being rear ended.been to the dealership many times going to keep going back while im still under warranty.happens stationary and while driving mostly on the freeway where you have to pull over turn off and try to let it reset.a dangerous situation.

Service shifter keeps appearing on the dash of the jeep. All of the lights beside of the shifter light up red and stay on until the vehicle is turned off. I have contacted the dealership and they say there is nothing they can do about it. The light will turn on when it is parked or random times while i am driving down the road. The problem has happened since the vehicle was purchased.

Car randomly shuts off- has happened approximately 8 times in the last12 months. Car is in motion- as brakes are applied to slow down.. Car just dies without notice. So far i'm lucky it's only been while i'm not on the hwy. But approaching a stop or turn. Takes a couple minutes and a few hard cranks to get it to restart.

Monday‎, ‎august‎ ‎13‎, ‎2018 the jeep cherokee was in for its first oil change. Minutes after receiving the vehicle from the oil change and driving off the dealer lot at 10:07 am received the charging/battery indicator along with the auto start/stop error indicator. Seconds later when trying to turn the jeep became very difficult to turn. The vehicle began to emit a bunch of smoke. When we returned to the service center at the dealer, it was explained that a faulty o-ring on the oil filter caused the loss of 2 quarts of oil. Smolich motors service center failed to note the auto start stop error and no error was present after the loss of oil was replenished and we received the vehicle back despite being shown the picture of the error. They did note the o-ring failure and the loss of 2 quarts of oil on the service order receipt.thursday‎, ‎september‎ ‎6‎, ‎2018 9:28 am while turning from badger st on to the bend parkway the charging/battery light appeared with the message to service throttle control and again experienced difficult steering while narrowly avoiding a collision with a semi truck.

Attempted to activate the electronic range select (ers) while driving.immediately, all of the prndl lights illuminated red and the dash displayed the message "shifter service".moving the shifter back to fully automatic did not clear the error or the prndl lights.i stopped the vehicle, turned it off, then restarted the engine and the error cleared.

My car went dead while driving. Took to the shop and said there was a "software update/recall" that caused the car to use more oil than normal and i was driving with no oil!!!!! this "recall" update had been released "6 days ago" per my dodge/chrysler dealership. Why is this recall not here? sounds very strange to me.

"service shifter" appeared on my dashboard. The gears all went red. The car was able to move as normal, but the message was still there. I turned the car off and restarted and the message went away.

Service shifter light came on in my 2018 jeep cherokee only had 9 miles when purchased... This happened when sitting in drive thru at dunkin' donuts this morning

Service shifter light came on on dash after i started my jeep, also all the red lights next to the shifter were lit up. Would not turn off until restarting the vehicle. Have read many jeep owners having the same issue with their cherokees. Should be recalled and fixed by jeep!

This is the second since august 2018that i have had to replace the battery. First time it gave me a warning light that there was a problem with auto start. Then just never would start again. This time there was no warning. The car was in park, shut off and wouldn't restart. Battery tested at dealer and now i have to replace it again. The battery says it has a 36 month warranty but dealer says i have to pay full price for new because it's a common problem with the auto start that fries the battery!

I have taken my vehicle to the dealership two times for the check engine light that have replaced the blower the filters and so on. Every time the ac or heat comes on the car starts shaking and jerking while in traffic. The yesterday while driving back in to post the vehicle started jerking while in motion and the check engine light came on. I have spent a tile of about 700-800$ on this problem and it seems to be something that the dealership can not fix.

1.)the door knob/handle is burning hot that you could hardly handle it or grab it.2.) when turning, there is a squizzing sound at the rear wheels and could hardly pull forward, something like holding back.3.) while in total stop, engine on, there is a clicking sound when stepping on brake and it can also feel the clicking sound when placing your hand at the shift lever.what ifmaking a turn, then it wont move in the middle of a busy raod?what if, while driving on the freeway the driver side burns, driver cannot get out.

For the past three months since labor day of 2018, my 2018 jeep cherokee latitude has not started on several occasions.eventually it does start but it will always say, "cannot read key fob".i have discovered that it's worse when i use the remote start to warm it up.what's really weird is that i have discovered that when i get out of my vehicle and go to the back hatch and use the remote to lock and unlock the doors, it starts after that.go figure.just this week, the driver side door wouldn't shut twice within three days.the latch was stuck.eventually, after trying just about everything i could think of like turning the vehicle on and off and locking and unlocking the doors from the inside of the vehicle, i tried using the remote to lock and unlock the doors, and then the driver side door shut properly. I don't understand why such a new vehicle purchase brand new in april of this year with less than 14, 000 miles on it would have so many problems.the dealership is picking it up again tomorrow for the third time to attempt to fix it.last chance.if not fixed this time, i will be getting legal representation.not sure if these are safety issues but i know that driving down the road with the door not closed properly could be a hazard.i am just wondering if something else might go wrong with it next.i am really disappointed in this vehicle to say the least!

First incident, vehicle was parked, hence stationary. Vehicle would not start, lights would flicker and a a clicking noise would be heard when starting the vehicle. Vehicle was jump started and let it run for a while, then i shut it off to make sure everything is ok and it did not start again. Same flickering lights and clicking noise. Got it jump started again. Drove to autozone to have battery checked, while trying to park, vehicle just shut off with car on drive. Autozone employee tried to jump start vehicle and it would not start at all. Automatic locks would not lock or unlock the vehicle. Car was then towed to dealership. As of right now, unknown cause of vehicle incident.

Service shifter light came on, all light on shifter light up.

Driving the vehicle on a main street at about 45 mph the engine stalled coming up to a red light turning right. After shifting back to park and struggle to turn over and restart, able to get back home with same problem occurring 2 more times. Replicated the issue again parked at the house with a very hard struggle to start. Steering and engine power completely gone.

Service shifter light is on at 39k miles. It was on while stationary, in park, and while in motion, in drive.

Radio cuts in and out since the day i bought the car. Dealers say they cannot find anything wrong.

Service shifter light, r,p,n,d, all lights turn red. Happened months ago at 36,300 miles, didn't happen for a month then came back. Now comes on every couple weeks, sometimes multiple times in a row. Turn car off and back on the lights go off.happens at intial start up and while driving.

Recieved a "service shifter" message and all the lights near the shifter were luminated red

My gear shifter lights alllight up and the display on my dash board said service shifterthis happened while driving at 35 mph

Turned on the vehicle and immediately all the red lights were lit up on the gear shifter.it said service shifter and would not move to a different screen.concerned about this i googled it, and followed instructions to reset.i turned the car off and waited 30 seconds, turned it back on, nothing so i drove away.10 miles later the car dings, service shifter, and the shift lights were all lit up again.i parked, turned the car and followed the same procedure.within 6 miles it did it again.this seems to be a problem with jeep cherokee's and it is not just the 2018 model years, it seems to be so common that jeep performed a recall on other cherokee years.

Cruise control keeps coming on and off. 2.4ml engine stalls a lot hard to stop car with cruise control on and it's goes in and out on its own

When attempting to start the vehicle, the electrical system will shut completely down and a create a no start situation. It may take several attempts with the same result, a partial rotation of the engine before the system resets. I checked the battery voltage which was reading about 11.5 volts, when i attempted to jump the vehicle, i got the same result. It finally started after more than 5 attempts with jumper cables connected. Most other times, it will start after about 2 attempts without attaching any jumper cables. This is also after the auto start stop system stopped working a couple of weeks back stating the battery is charging even though it was fully charged.

Bought it 6weeks ago the next day the service gear shifter light cane on pulling out my driveway at 6 am later that evening it came on again driving to the grocery store .. A couple of days later it came on again .. It comes on randomly and all the lights on the gear shift are lit up red .. I have to turn my jeep off and on to make the lights to go back to normal and take the service gear shifter notification off .. It even comes on while driving down the highway

The service shifter light comes on all the time.it lights up all the lights on my shifter and freezes my dashboard screen to just show the message service shifter.it stays like this until i turn my vehicle off and then when i wait a bit and turn it on again it will be off but if i don't wait long enough it will still be on.it will come on no matter what speed i am going. I can be going at highway speeds or stopped in traffic. I had it come on yesterday as soon as i started my car before i even put it in gear. It can happen multiple times in one day or not happen for a week.i am concerned that when i am driving on the highway this could lead to a major mechanical breakdown and cause an accident.

I was completing a turn when the vehicle lost all power and shut completely off causing me to loose control of the vehicle and hit a curb. Vehicle was then towed to dealership where i was advised this happened due to a safety feature of my car . When the car is low on oil when you turn it throws off the oil pressure sensorso the engine doesn't blow up . My last oil change was in feb my car is completely out of oil and no check oil light appeared .

Service shifter light came on at 11,450 miles.

Electrical warning system can not be remedied.emergency brake system is malfunctioning and setting when car is in drive.electrical system completely went dead on the freeway causing the car to stall, when car was restarted and nursed off of the freeway the electrical system completely went dead, the transmission locked up preventing the tow company from loading the car onto the tow truck, the car was manually manipulated to release the system into neutral.the cars electronic dash board completely goes dead while on the freeway.the car has been in 3 dealerships over more than 1 month, the dealerships claim they have replaced computer components, can't find anything wrong, or 'jiggle the wires'.the cars warranty is nearly up, and we have been pressured to buy an extended warranty.the dealership has provided us with a rental car, and claimed to have fixed the problem, that is when the cars electrical system failed on the freeway.the car is a complete hazard.my husband has the repair records on file.

My jeep wouldnt start(05/04/2021) so i bought a new battery (05/05/2021).but i notice today (05/06/2021)that the clock had reset on it own( so i got to ne losing power) and my service shifter came on aa well while in motion

"service shifter" message appears in the meter cluster and message does not disappear until engine is shut off and turned back on. All lights on the shifter (in the center console) illuminate and do not turn off until the engine is shut off and turned back on. Phenomena occurred both at first start up as well as while driving on a major street.

The car has start up problems, the car stall and jerks when breaking. The battery on charges to 45% ( this is a new car). The engine was smoking purfusly lika an 1980s car. All light flicker in the car amd now the car is undrivabme with no help from dealship or finance. Its like i'm on me own stuck with a lemon.

Service shifter alarm, all lights on gear shifter light up. Goes away when vehicle turned off and restarted. Came back on less than a week later.

While i was driving on a city street to get to the highway almost 5 hours away from my house my dash screen popped up with a warning saying that my shifter needed serviced... When i looked at the gear shifter all of the lights were lit up(p,r,n&d)...i freaked out and pulled off at a gas station put it in park turned off the ignition and waited a minute... When i started the car back up all of the lights shut off and it was fine... I have no idea what caused it to happen it literally happened out of nowhere...

Starting issues battery will not stay charged no help from dealership .or roadside assistance

On 12/15/20 i drove less than 1 mi. Downhill, stopped at the stop sign & the engine quit & battery light came on. Engine restarted about 5 min. I was low on gas, so gas was added & i filled tank. The engine quit the next day at the same spot. It restarted after a few tries. The battery indicator showed it had a charge & oil was good. Repeat stalling at same spot on 12/24/20 and on 1/2/2021. Very concerning as i was stuck in the middle of the street and could easily be hit. I had 27,000 & currently have 35693 miles. This vehicle was serviced before i got it and is too new to be having problems.

We were traveling in our 2018 jeep cherokee latitude and at a red light, the car just turned off. We had to sit for awhile and then restart it by putting on the brake and some other thing. We replaced the battery and it ran for about 20 minutes. Then, it stopped while we were at a red light again! it only restarted after replacing the battery twice. We aren't spending money on a new battery until we know exactly what's wrong.

Had jeep 2 yrs 6 times we have had problem. Driving down road turn corner service shifter light comes on. Sometimes when vehicle is stationary it also occurs. All lights on shiter lights up red. And service shifter message comes on. Happens 3-6 months. Needs to be fixed.

Vehicle has stalled approximately 10 times in the last 2 weeks. Some on the streets and 3 times on the freeway. Half the time i was with my children. You have to put it back on park, wait about 10-15 seconds, then switch it on an off three times before it starts again.

Service shifter warning light.

The service shifter error has repeatedly coming on despite the shifter harness being replaced twice, the harness being replaced and computer updates.all the lights on the shifter turn red.the car randomly jumps to 5000 rpms and will go into neutral or park while driving.the car will hesitate when accelerating from a stop and is very unsafe to drive.i have contacted chrysler jeep about the issue and the car has been in the shop multiple times over the year and has recently been in there for a month.

Started car and put into drive. Started driving service shifter came up. All the lights in my shifter lit up.

"service shifter" lights up.

Made a right turn onto a street and heard a single ding(the same ding it makes if seatbelt is off) then the car turned off, the red battery light briefly came on and then turned off. I rolled out of traffics way onto the shoulder and placed my car in park and tried to restart it. Car would not restart initially. After 3 tries the vehicle restarted and i was able to make it back onto the road.- the engine shut off and the power steering went out. These are available for inspection upon request. -the vehicle stalled in the middle of traffic so not only my safety but the safety of other drivers was at risk as my vehicle was turning a corner and not able to accelerate as other drivers came up behind me causing them to swerve. -the problem has not been reproduced or confirmed by a dealer or independent service center however my wife and i have experience the same issue at two different times.-the vehicle has been inspected by the dealership where the vehicle was purchased brand new and they were not able to provide an answer to the problem. -there were no warning lamps or other symptoms prior to the failure.

'service shifter' light has come on the dash several times. Starting at 26,000 miles. Have taken it several time to crown chrysler doge jeep in chattanooga tennessee for them to tell me it's only the battery. This battery has been replaced and this issue is still occurring. Tonight, september 18, 2020, my jeep cherokee notified service shifter the. Slammed the ebrake on while going 55. This is a major safety issue and the dealership keeps stating nothing is wrong. I have also had issues with after pushing the 'bush to start' button 'to cut the car off,' the button states the car is off, but yet the engine is still running. I no longer want this 2018 jeep cherokee due to it being a safety issue.

Vehicle will stall dealership claimsbattery is not charging computer check shows multiple low voltage codes

The service shifter light comes on and all gears are showing up in red while driving. Turning the vehicle off then back on sets the gear back to normal for only a few minuets, then service indicator light comes back on with all gears illuminated in red. The jeep has the tendency to jerk forward when placed into park and also during accelaration the transmission seems to lag causing a jerking motion in my jeep.

Vehicle stalls at start of day after driving no more than a half a mile. This has happened for the past two days in traffic. Battery light comes on after stalls and does not start. Letting it sit for awhile it eventually starts. Battery was fully tested and holds charge. Decided to park vehicle and have it towed to dealer as to not risk traffic crash.

Service shifter warning comes on, all lights in gear shift ( automatic transmission) light up red. Has happened 2 times in 2 days and was just at dealership for service 2 days ago.

After starting the car and leaving my driveway for the last 2days, i get about 1/2 mile down the road and an indicator comes on telling me that shifting while driving can't be done. The car shuts completely down and i have to make a sudden stop to turn the key off. The steeringwheel locks up making it impossible to get out of the road. When i try to restart, it acts like starter is fighting to turn on. I have to give it fuel to get it to start. Then i don't have problems the rest of the day

My cherokee is 2018, i bought it used jan of 2020. In sept of 2020 my starter broke, i paid $550 to get it fixed. This morning, about 4 days later the starter is broken again. My mechanic is very good, and warned me about multiple people coming in with this issue and it breaking again. He told me to get a new car which i planned on doing but it broke before i got the chance. I looked it up online and multiple people left reviews with the same problem.

When i put my jeep cherokee in reverse, my screen started glitching and then 'service shifter' came on my screen. When i looked down at my shifter, all the lights were lit up, so i put it in park and cut the engine off. When i started it it was gone. The next day, this came on again - as i started the car so i again, shut the engine off and restarted it. After getting 2 miles down the road, the service shifter came back on and not even 15 seconds later, my car abruptly put itself in park, my lights went haywire, my steering wheel went stiff as if there was no power steering available, all as i was slowing down to a stop since i've read about people wrecking after this light came on. I checked my vin for a recall, but couldn't find one and i am not about to pay out of pocket for an unsafe hunk of metal. I'm still under warranty at 32,800 miles on my 2018 jeep cherokee, but i fully intend on letting every person i know that has an fca product to stay away from them if this does not become a recall. The pictures below are of the first time when i was backing up in my parents driveway. I didn't get pictures of the second time driving down the road because my focus was on getting home safely trying to not go over 25-30 mph.

All service lights are flashing when car is started.

Service shiftermessage keeps appearing on the dash and all of the lights on the shifter will turn red. Has been happening at least once a day (sometimes 4-5 times) and typically happens when i hit a bump (no matter how small or big). It can also sometimes happen when you tap the side of the console. Forums online suggest that the issue is happening because the wires from the shifter keep bumping into catalytic converter and shorting (https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t68742_ds990296). I am still able to drive the car when it happens, but it is incredibly annoying because i cannot see anything on the dashboard.

Service shifter warning light comes on and blocks out all other digital read out until the vehicle is parked turned off and back of.issue continues to reoccur

My shifter came on while in park with the park, reverse, nuetral, and drive all lighting up. Have seen this as an issue in other later years but, i believe there is a malfunction somewhere within the electrical or something. My car is new with low miles this shouldn't be happening.

Was driving and vehicle stopped moving. Pulled over and service electrical throttle control came on. Finally got the vehicle to drive. Check engine light is on now.

While driving i get a message that says service shifter.at the same time all the red lights come on where the shifter is.it stays on until the engine is turned off.this has happened repeatedly.fear that it will lock on me while driving.

All lights on shifter come on randomly when turning on vehicle.you can't put in drive while lights are on. You have to turn car on multiple times or until lights go off.on dash board it reads service gear shift lights

Upon entering a left or right turn in motion, vehicle shuts off and displays a message saying the vehicle must be stopped to shift. Upon restarting the vehicle it takes multiple attempts to get the car started. It has happened twice to myself, and once to my wife whom is pregnant and was in an intersection when it occurred. This problem has occurred on multiple days.

When shifting to park, intermittently wont stay indicating p and rest of shift positions illuminate with "service shifter" displaying on status screen.to fix it, push shifter up harder to park position ensuring p illuminates, turn vehicle off then start and verify no service message.sometimes this happens while driving but usually after being parked and restarted.service shifter message prevents speed screen from displaying while driving.

Service shifter light always on in motion and in park. Burns 1 qt of oil every 2000 milesvehicles jerks when trying to accelerate in motion

Everytime we drive our vehicle for longer than 10 minutes a warning indicator light comes on which says "service shifter". All the lights on the shifter come on and you can no longer tell when you are in drive, park, etc. When you turn the vehicle off the system resets, but it will come back on again. The dealership inspected it and found no fix for the issue. To me, this seems highly irresponsible and reckless to allow something like this to occur in a vehicle. Numerous people with jeep cherokees have experienced the same thing and i believe there needs to be a recal related to the shifting/electrical system.

I was driving up the interstate and i heard a ding.the display said " service shifter" and all the lights on my gear shift pnrd were all lit up red.could not clear display.parked and turned ignition off and back on and it cleared.

'service shifter' comes on. Dealer says there's no issue. This has happened while i'm driving and at ignition start up.

My sensors only work sometimes, my key fob only works when it wants.it's starting to have issues. My jeep stopped working on the highway all of a sudden

Was driving down the road and the parking break came on and would not release.

While i was driving down i95 - the gearshift froze up and the entire gearshaft turned red. I was unable to shift gears until i was able to slow down / come to a stop on the side of an exit road. This has happened a total of two times on separate occasions - once three months after the dealership claimed they fixed the issue.

Electronic throttle control light came on- this has happened three times, once whild driving and twice when starting the car and it was in park.

Started vehicle and all lights on the shifter panel came on and a warning of "service shifter" came on the dash. This happens multiple times per week and after two attempts at getting this fixed, the dealership has no clue. It is now impossible to shift when this happens.

"service shifter" warning comes on at random times.lights on shifter all came on.only came on with left hand turns.first time in happened i was on an interstate on ramp.has happened at 5 mph and 70 mph.pull over put in park, shut off engine, wait a minute, restart vehicle and everything is fine for a while.it can be days between or 3 times in a 5 minute drive.up to 9 times it has happened.

All the lights on the gear box turn on and says "service shifter". Happened once a month and is becoming more and more frequent.

My service shifter light comes on every 3,000 miles. Two months ago i was approaching a red light and my service shifter light came on and my car just shut off. My baby was 5 months at the time and we were in the middle of traffic. I tried to start it up but had no luck for 15 minutes, it eventually started and continued to stall on my way home.

At various times, either starting the car or restarting the car, not all the time, the service shifter light will illimunate on the screen blocking out the digital speedometer and lighting up the shifter to all red.after shutting down the car and restarting (sometimes) the light will go out and the car will run fine.i contacted the dealership and the it is not covered by either the basic warranty or the extended warranty and the resolution is to change the whole shifter assembly at an estimated cost of over $600.00.

The car stopped working while in motion in the middle of the street while turning towards my apartment complex. I had my daughter inside the car with me and i was afraid cars will come since i was in the middle of the street were cars pass by to enter the apartment complex. I was able to push the car after calling my dad who helped me take it to a safe spot and jump start the car. The car worked after doing a jump start and i was able to park it at my parking spot. The next day i was leaving to drop off my daughter to school and same thing happened again. I was inside the car coming out (in motion) and the car stopped suddenly and wouldn't turn.i called road assistance this time. They sent me a towing company to take it to the closest jeep dealership. Since the car was not able to turn on at all, they were not able to take it. They said the car need it a flat bed tow truck since it didn't start at all. They were able to tow the car 3 days later on saturday 12/07/19 by a towing company that had a flat bed tow truck and took it to the closest jeep dealership. The car is currently at orlando dodge jeep dealership and they said the win module needs to be replaced, the battery needs to be recharge and get new keys. I bought this car brand new with 0 mileages from jeep dealership only 1 year and 6 months old. I decided to buy a new car in order to avoid risks like these one of being left in the middle of the street/road with my daughter inside the car. Thankfully this did not happen in the middle of route i-4 were i normally drive.

I continue to get a service shifter issue. Vehicle has 13,000 miles on it. This is a known problem across multiple years of cherokees. Dealership said it was a battery problem but after a new battery, i still receive the warning. Warning came on while parked, just after startup.

We purchased a used 2018 jeep cherokee latitude (less than 13,000 miles) from a dealership in colorado springs on 10/17.on the way home, about 100 miles, the stop /start warning light and battery light went on about 8 miles from home going approx. 50 mph. We decided to get it home. At the bottom of the driveway, we placed the car in reverse and noticed that power steering was not working. We turned off the vehicle and at restart, the warning lights were reset. We notified the dealership immediately and they recommended changing out battery. We drove about 15 miles to an auto parts store and bought the best battery they had for that vehicle. We did not use the jeep for the next day (friday).saturday 10/19 we drove it down to denver (about 60 miles) with no problem. On the way home, again the stop /start warning light and battery light went on going approx. 60 mph. We drove to a parking lot and made a turn into a parking spot. At that point power steering was operable. I placed the car in park and then in reverse and then noticed no power steering, i placed the car in drive and again no power steering. We stopped and restarted the vehicle and the warning lights were reset. About 2 minutes later while driving, i noticed that the driver's side seat warmer and rear defrost had both been switched on automatically.

Service shifter randomly pops up and all lights on shifter go red happened out of nowhere and goes away u found hundreds of not thousands with the same problem!

While driving car completely loses all power. Becomes difficult to control. Cannot be steered or moved. Turning onto a street at low speed in a very busy intersection with streetcar tracks. Car completely shut down and became inoperable. Vehicle stuck in traffic with streetcar and trucks almost hitting it from behind. Could not be pushed. *dtupdated 10/18/18

After owning this vehicle for one week the service shifter light came on and all the lights by the shifter came on.pulled off the highway shut car off and restarted. Lights were off continued to drive home . Light has come on again , always goes off after restarting. After reading all complaints of owners online i am concerned that i will have shifting problems going down the road. I can't believe with all the complaints there hasn't been a recall for this problem on this car. I have been back to the dealer several times with no satisfaction.!please , let something be done about this problem.

While driving my 2018 jeep cherokee a message appeared on the dash 'service shifter' all lights on the shifter then light up red the 'prndl' this has happened multiple times. The vehicle seems to not shift gears properly when this happens. It has been checked by the dealer and the shifter/ wiring harness need to be replaced. I was informed this is an ongoing issue with most jeeps in the last few years and no recall has yet been made, i have only owned this vehicle for 7 months and am very disappointed thus far. This being an ongoing issue that jeep is aware of i feel that some action should be made for the customer. I am a loyal jeep customer but after this issue not being resolved for years i may not continue to be a loyal customer and go elsewhere to purchase my next vehicle. This first occurred on september 25,2019 and has happened multiple times since the first occurrence.

Service shifter lights and warning come on randomly when driving. When the error message is displayed, there is no way to get rid of it except turning vehicle off and on. The error message takes up the entire in dash screen and does not allow for the digital speedometer to be shown. There does not seem to be a pattern as to when this occurs, has happened when starting up and just randomly while driving (not specifically linked with a speed, direction, or turn).

Since about 18k miles on vehiclei have been reporting issues with the shifting, transmission. Now that the vehicle is not under warranty they suddenly think they know what will fix it. But i now have to pay almost $800 to get it fixed.

"service shifter" warning comes up on the dash at different times. It may be at start up or while driving. It's a serious problem. You have a minimum of 400 comjlaints already. Just bought this 2018 jeep cherokee on 5/8/2021 and we are having problems already. I called the dealer and they said they never heard of this problem, or is it that they don't know what the fix is? many of the owners of these car are stuck in a circle jerk...dealer says it doesnt exsist and yet it keeps happening. Please investagate this problem and force the manufacture to find the fix. I know my dealer knew of the problem but elects not to admit it. The problem is that it does not throw a code so nothing shows up. I checked mine twice with my obd reader and i even drove around with it connected to see if it was a drivablity problem but that produced nothing. Very sorry that i purchased this car! never own a chrys. Product again.....and i will never purchase another car from this dealer.

While turning into oncoming traffic in motion , the vehicle stopped on the highway while vehicles where comingathigh speeds nearly causing fatal accidents!while stopped at a light as i was proceeding through the light the car shut off again almost causing me to be rear ended.

Service shifter light comes on and all the lights on the shifter light up and some causes vehicle to stall . Dealer says it needs a new wiring harness and bezel but is not under recall even know its a common problem and has been for years. Talked to multipul people having same issue one involved in a crash from it

Going 65 in the highway in the middle lane, the park assist suddenly kicked in without warning and shifted the vehicle into neutral. After drifting to the shoulder, the car would not engage into drive again. The car is less than a month old.

After owning my brand new 2018 jeep cherokee for a few months, i turned on my vehicle and the service shifter warning came on in my dash and all the lights on my shifter lit up. I call the dealership and they told me to bring it in, so i took it and when i turned the car off, the message no longer appeared. The dealership took the vehicle for diagnostic testing and it said it came back fine. Upon getting my car back, it was randomly showing the service shifter message again so i took it back to the dealership two more times for the same issue and they stated that they couldn't duplicate the issue and so nothing was fixed. I have now owned the vehicle for 3 years and they refuse to fix the still appearing issue. No check engine light appears but i fear that whatever is causing the warning to appear may cause issues. I have read that many many others have had the same issue and the dealership wouldn't do anything. All three times i took my vehicle in, it was under warranty and they wouldn't do anything.

While driving , car will shut off engine/electric shutdown.it happens while the car is moving and the power steering goes making it very scary. Once the car comes to a stop the only that comes on is the battery light .

The car will randomly say service shifter and to get this off you need to cut the car off and then restart it. This started a couple of months ago and has been effecting numerous jeeps. How can other models have a recall for it but not the 2018. All the lights will come on in the shifter basically saying every gear is in gear.

I purchase the vehicle new on march 30.on sunday, april 1 the car automatically went into park assist mode without the button being pushed.this happened while driving 50 mph down the highway causing the transmission to shift into neutral.it would not shift back to drive.we had to pull over and turn the engine off and restart the vehicle to get the car to go in drive again.luckily we were in an outside lane and could pull over to the edge of the highway.it is scary to think what could have happened had we been in the middle of rush hour traffic on the interstate.

My 2018 jeep cherokee, the service shifter warning light appears on my dash and all of the gear light appear solid red on my shifter, this continues to happen when i put my car in park or when i come to a stop while driving, it's very concerning because i took it to my local dealer for another major issue ( oil consumption) and they told me that they could not find any codes of the error occurring. This happens periodically and when i turn the car off and then back on the 'service shifter'' light goes away. There no way for the dealer to fix the issue because they say the can't find any error codes when i have time stamped pictures on my phone of this happening. I'm afraid this might lead to an electrical fire or shifter failure while in traffic driving.

The "service shifter" warning message appears in the "message screen" & you cannot clear it so the mph & other needed driving data is unavailable. Also all of the shifter lights become illuminated so you cannot see what gear the transmission is in. "cargurus.com" has a lot of complaints on this safety issue. Car is in motion & stationary;.the shifter service message appears. It 1st occurred yesterday; 8/19/2019 to me. This is a safet issue because my mph etc is unavailable & i cannot verify gear i am in. (drive/reverse etc)

The message service shifter appears, and all of the gears on the gear shift light up. There is no specific reason this happens. It has happened multiple times, sometimes while in motion and braking, sometimes while the car is parked. It started when my car was no longer under the 32,000 mile warranty at the dealership. This seems to be a popular issue after i researched it.

Service shifter light at 33,000 miles. I have known about the "service shifter" light issue with many other jeeps, so i wanted to also report. That is too much. I was unable to take my jeep in for service right away, and then covid happened, so now i'm way past my warranty miles so have not been able to get it fixed.

My vehicle told me to put it in neutral and then park while i was at a red light. I did that and my vehicle would not move. I left it in park and turned the vehicle off but it would not restart. I sat at the light with my hazards on for about 2 min, i tried to turn it on again and it struggled but it ended up turning on. 3 days later at the same light on my way to work the battery light started flashing and beeping, my engine light turned, and the traction control light turned on. It wouldn't let me drive but 5 mph. I pulled over and turned the car off. Later that day when i took it to the shop none of those lights were on and i was told "there's nothing wrong" with my jeep. I'm so frustrated because clearly there is something wrong.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was restarted and the battery power sensor warning light displayed on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who was unable to determine the cause of the failure. The contact was informed that the vehicle was not included in the nhtsa campaign number 18v524000 (electrical system). The manufacturer and local dealer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. While the vehicle was stationary and while driving various speeds, the service shifter warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the parking symbol on the gear shift mechanism and all the lights on the gear shift mechanism illuminated. Courtesy chrysler dodge jeep ram fiat (607 enterprise parkway, breaux bridge, louisiana 70517, (337) 240-9947) diagnosed that the computer software malfunctioned. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage and vin were unknown.

Car stalls while driving. When letting off the accelerator, the car will make a beeping sound and car dies. It takes a couple tries to get the car restarted. This only happens while car is cold. Once it is running for a while it doesn't seem to die. Seems related to the complaints ofrecall u87.

While driving all the lights come on by the gear shift from park ton drive. The lights are red. It said shift system. When this happens you cannot check oil, tire inflation, temperature or anything else. It happens while driving, turning, on the highway. This happens all the time. What could it be?

I have a 2018 jeep cherokee latitude.purchased april 2018 with 17 miles on it.in november 2018 the service shifter light came on.took it to the dealership where it was "fixed."june 26, 2019 (28,670 miles on my car) i was driving to work going 35 mph when my engine shut off and i had no control over the vehicle.about a week before this happened i had been hearing a dinging noise, like when your seatbelt is off (just one ding though) and something would flash on my dash.it was so quick i was unable to see what it said.i started videoing my dash to try to catch the alert.i have video of my dash as the engine stopped and me trying to restart my car.(uploaded pictures of the service shifter but it will not allow me to upload the video) it took me 10-15 minutes to get it started back up.drove it straight to the dealership. They said that my jeep was a quart low on oil and that it was a "safety feature" that if you're low on oil your engine will just shut off....no matter if you're parked or driving 70 mph! that is insane!! how about an "oil low light"my oil life percentage still showed 20% remaining and i was scheduling an oil change the next week.after reading multiple complaints, just like mine, i requested that they check the shifter again.they said that the shifter was fine.i picked up my jeep from the dealership and drove 30 miles home.i pulled in my driveway and the service shifter light came on again with the prnd lights all lit up.took it to the dealership again this morning, 06/27/2019 and just got a call that they replaced the shifter bezel and wiring and did an update.there are hundreds and hundreds of complaints exactly like mine.this needs to be corrected now before someone gets in a horrible accident.i drive the interstate every single day. If my engine shuts off going 70 mph, it will not be a good situation.

Starting issues battery will not stay charged no help from dealership .or roadside assistance

While driving, the vehicle shuts down, i lost all control. A message popped up that said 'apply brake and put in park or neutral' the engine slowly lost all acceleration and came to a complete stop. The car beeps and said 'low battery' but all lights and voltage reading was completely normal. I turned car off, restarted car, and it was fine, i drive it another 100 meters and it repeats this exact cycle all the way home.

After getting my jeep worked on at crown jeep of chattanoogafor my dash board saying 'shifter service' they replaced my shifter bezel claiming that was all that was wrong with it. This is after my jeep three the ebrake in while going 65 down a highway. Tonight 9/28/2020 while backing out my driveway my jeep threw the ebrake on itself again. Then did it while going in toward at 35 mph. Chrysler dodge jeep needs to be held accountable for their mistakes in their cars

Right when my vehicle hit 25,000 miles, i noticed that on the highway while in motion the service shifter light came on and gear shift lightsall in red, p,r,n,d. You shut the engine off and all turn off then when you start driving again they'll do the same. It'll stop for a few days and then start again. Finally took it to the dealership it ended up begin wires and a shifter harness. A lot of jeep cherokee 2017-2019 owners are experiencing the same thing right around the same miles. This needs to become a recall.

As driving vehicle shuts down loose all control. Message pops up that says. Apply brake and put in park or neutral.engine shuts down. In motion on highway. Very dangerous.

Service shifter message coming up, all lights on shifter turning red and car not driving properly. Have to turn the car off and back on several times to make it go away.

We have a 2018 jeep cherokee. We were driving back home from chicago and we hear a ding. Where the speedometer is the words service shifter popped up. Next to the shifter all the lights were lit up. We pulled over and turned the car off and back on and it went away and continued driving normally. This had never happened before and no signs of anything wrong and the car was driving fine other than the service shifter issue.10 minutes later on the same drive the service shifter words popped up again along with the lights next to the shifter. We again pulled over turned the car off and back on and it was fine. About 2-3 days later it happened again. I would say now that it only happens 1-2 times a month. Every time it happens we do not continue to drive when it pops up. We instantly pull over and turn it off and back on. Its always went away once we turn it back on but it's does continue to happen. It's never had any issues other than this. We have read that other cars have been affected and that another jeep cherokee wheels locked up and they got into an accident. We have contacted the dealership about this issue and they seem to have no idea about this. We are concerned for our vehicle, our safety, and the safety of others.

Excesive oil consumption. 1 quart every 750 to 800 miles.

On two different occasions the engine shut off unexpectedly and without warning while driving. Once on a hill, the next time on a highway. There were no indicator lights or other warning systems in place. When it happened the steering failed as did all braking systems. The car was brought back to the dealership. Both times oil was below readable level. It was also low prior to dealer recommended oil change period.i was told an oil consumption test needed to be done, but it was safe to drive. When oil consumption was deemed low, i was told that jeep corporation required that the test be repeated and to drive another 1,000 miles. I contacted customer relations and was told "independent dealerships can decide how to handle this problem". Then it was recommended that i see if a different dealer might be more helpful. No safety actions were taken by the dealership's service department.

2018 jeep cherokee limited has stalled out multiple times over the last week (12/5/19), upon slowing and starting. The stalling has caused me to come to a dead stop on a main roads. I was almost rear ended because i could not restart and move out the way. The display shows a "shift select" reading. When trying to restart, the engine acts like it is struggling to start back. Everything else shows all is normal.

While driving the vehicle behind to stall and then cuts off in the raidwithout warning, as i turned into traffic. Vehicle starts with no warnings of any sort but then as i am driving cuts off as i am turning into the roadway and there is traffic

Vehicle has stalled approximately 10 times in the last 2 weeks. Some on the streets and 3 times on the freeway. Half the time i was with my children. You have to put it back on park, wait about 10-15 seconds, then switch it on an off three times before it starts again.

At random times the message "service shifter" appears, and all of the lights on the shifter turn red. This has happened about a dozen time and has happened when in drive(on highway and streets) and when in park. If i turn the car off and on the message disappears. From all the research i've done it appears to be happening to a lot of jeep (2014-2019) owners. Seems very dangerous!!!

Bought my vehicle 12/21/2017. Have had nothing but problems ever since. Took my car to [xxx] in austin where it was purchased several different times. I was always told there was nothing wrong with it. In november 2019 my car broke down and i paid to have it towed to the dealership in sa since that is where i was relocated to for work. Blamed it on my oil which i was never notified by my vehicle it was even low. Engine has not been acting right since. 5/21/2020 i went on a trip but only made it to waco. Vehicle shut off going 70 mph on the freeway and i almost got hit by several different vehicles because of it. 5/26/2020 dealership called me to let me know i was getting a new engine since mine was compromised by the oil it was consuming. Now i am being told that i have to drive it and test it before they will replace it. Have done an intensive amount of research and this is a huge liability to put my life in danger for a test they need for the company. Called the location i purchased it at and surprise they will not take care of it. Nothing but problems with this vehicle since i purchased it and they have never done anything to make it right.*dtinformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Vehicle while driven made an alert ping when making left and right hand turns with no other indicator. Following day vehicle completely shut down while driving on the interstate at 55 mph with oil pressure indicator illuminated as well as multiple errors about placing vehicle in drive and shifting (although vehicle is an automatic).dealership contacted and vehicle brought in for inspection.dealer concluded that engine had no oil, although internal indicators failed to advise and showed vehicle had 17% oil life remaining and 300 miles until scheduled oil change. Dealer advised that vehicle is known to burn oil at a rate of 1 quart of oil every 1000 miles, however, this was not consistent with when the previous oil change had occurred, when asked why vehicle burns oil at such a rate, was advised it is normal and not to worry about it. Several other people have complained and reaction from dealership varied from it was normal to may be an issue with the engine.

While i was driving down i95 - the gearshift froze up and the entire gearshaft turned red. I was unable to shift gears until i was able to slow down / come to a stop on the side of an exit road. This has happened a total of two times on separate occasions - once three months after the dealership claimed they fixed the issue.

My car completely runs out of oil between oil changes.what this then does, is cause the limp mode to come on and stall my vehicle.this happened in intersections, and on the highway, before i myself figured out my car had no oil.my engine was misfiring.i had less than a quart.i had engine codes being thrown none had anything to do with oil.no oil light on.nothing.i deduced myself online that i needed to check my oil level, though i was still one week out from needing an oil change per the vehicle specs (the oil change notification from the vehicle also had not come on yet).sure enough, dipstick was bone dry.i had it rectified.i had it verified that i have no oil leak.and every time i am almost due for an oil change my vehicle stalls.any and every where.and then i go get an oil change with more oil.all over message boards, this happens to people.2017's had a recall for this.2019's had a recall for this.why in god's name has 2018 not been recalled over this.it's unacceptable.it's dangerous.i was almost hit head on. This has happened every 3k miles for the past two years.it's unacceptable and unsafe.

While turning into oncoming traffic in motion , the vehicle stopped on the highway while vehicles where comingathigh speeds nearly causing fatal accidents!while stopped at a light as i was proceeding through the light the car shut off again almost causing me to be rear ended.

While in motion, my car continued to stall, 3 times.once also the week before.the car indicated that my vehicle needed an oil change.after a very scary ride to the dealership on a major highway, it was confirmed that the car needed an oil change.there was barely no oil .. According to oil dipstick.themessage did not indicate oil was low.wrong message to the owner.i could have seized my engine.needing an oil change is not the same alerting the driver there is no oil left. This should be corrected to indicate low oil level !!!this is dangerous when car in motion and it stalls out.dealership taking no responsibility. Should this be a recall issue.dangerous situation!!!

The car randomly shut off while i was at a light. It has done this several times and it is very dangerous. I almost got rear ended. There has been several complaints about this. It was in motion once and the wheel locked up. But it was a very slow motion.second time i was taking off from a stop

The message service shifter appears, and all of the gears on the gear shift light up. There is no specific reason this happens. It has happened multiple times, sometimes while in motion and braking, sometimes while the car is parked. It started when my car was no longer under the 32,000 mile warranty at the dealership.

25,000 miles was turning right onto ramp to enter highway when battery came on and engine stalled right when i began to accelerate.took to dealership where they initiated an oil consumption test.1,000 miles into oil consumption test engine light came on and stayed on.car was only 1/2 quart low on oil and was in the process of a controlled oil consumption test.have read an overwhelming amount of reports of 2018 cherokees with the same 2.4l engine stalling while the drivers is actively driving vehicle anywhere from 25 mph to 70 mph on the highway.

My 2018 jeep cherokee latitude has been stalling due to high oil consumption (per the dealer). The stalls happen while driving when braking or making turns. There is no warning, the engine just shuts off, with loss of power steering. When this occurs, need to come to a complete stop, put the vehicle in park and wait a couple minutes. As you can imagine, this is extremely dangerous as it has happened on the highway and in city driving. In two scenarios, i was almost rear ended and in another, i stalled in the middle of a busy intersection. I've taken the jeep to my dealership who tells me that this is a known issue and they can't do anything about it. They suggested i do an "oil consumption test" to see if the engine is performing as designed, which entails me bringing the vehicle to the dealership every 1,000 miles to check oil levels (extremely inconvenient). I've also opened a case with chrysler/fiat who says i need to complete the consumption test before they can make any determination. I've researched this issue and there are hundreds of jeep owners complaining of the same issue. Chrysler/fiat needs to do something about this issue as it is extremely dangerous.please let me know if there is any additional information needed.

Excessive oil loss in engine. Little oil on dipstick. Oil change is not due for another4,774 miles. Vehicle stalls when driving no more than 1/2 mile.

While turning corners, vehicle sometimes stalls. When reported to service department, they said it is a safety feature to let you know oil is low. Our oil can be at 35% and cause the car to stop driving in the middle of a roadway...that is not safe! we shouldn't need to replace oil u til 20% or less as that is wasteful...

Oil consumption on vehicle with less than 50k miles. 3 to 4 quarts low at every 5000 mile oil change. Causing vehicle to shut down while driving on city street. No warning light to inform you of low oil.

Starting at 25k miles, the vehicle started to burn through oil even before the next oil change. The manual states to go off the oil system light, dealers say different. Oil had 14% left, but the car kept shutting off while driving on the highway. Went to dealer, car burned through all the oil. They refused to check for engine damage and force me to pay for a full oil change. Stated by the dealer, its a known issue with jeep and there is no fix for it. Now at 33k, check engine light came on, cylinder 4 misfire. Coil pack needs replaced.this is a tsb that was posted at dealers but not given to consumers. Also airbag connection under driver seat comes loose and causes warning lights to service airbag. 10k miles. Dealer said to plug back in and just keep dealing with it.

The light turned green at an intersection. The vehicle was in drive, i pressed the gas and the vehicle would not respond.when it did respond the vehicle jerked into gear and rpm's rose quickly.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated that while driving 45-50 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. An audible chime was heard prior to the failure. The contact coasted to the side of the roadway and restarted the vehicle. Zimmer chrysler dodge jeep ram (1086 burlington pike, florence, ky 41042), was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed by the dealer that the vehicle needed an oil change. The vehicle was taken to an unknown dealer and it was confirmed that the vehicle needed an oil change. The contact stated that the vehicle received four oil changes within 24 miles. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was approximately 24,000.

Bought jeep had it for approx. 7 months (october 2019) and it would shift really hard, then one day driving from home to store, the jeep just stalled on street, turned off engine, restarted and drove to destination. I brought my jeep in 4x before they had replaced a whole new engine due to it burning oil.roughly 3 months later (january), jeep was in driveway, drove to work and twice the same day slammed into gears, took it back to jeep, they said gears needed to be reset. It seems when i use 4x4 to snow, its fine, when i turn it off a couple days later it slams into gears.yesterday (march 2020) vehicle was parked in driveway, reversed to leave and lights came on dash for shifter needs repair, turned off engine, restarted, resumed driving and lights were off. Parked jeep in drive way, next morning reversed and drove to work, reversed into space and lights came on again that shifter needed maint repair. I have now 53,000 miles. I take jeep in again to be looked at for shifter.i have taken this vehicle in at least 11 times so far for engine, gears slamming, shift saying needs maint repair. Since june 2019

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated that the service shifter light illuminated while driving at 40 mph. The vehicle independently shifted into park. The vehicle ceased and the vehicle spun in a circle and came to a stop. The contact shifted into park and restarted the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to landers chrysler dodge jeep ram of norman (481 n interstate dr, norman, ok 73069 (405)321-8228) where a software reprogramming was performed as the spindle gear was replaced however, the failure recurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 2,000.

The car will just shut off in idle , sometimes it will start right back up,others you have to wait a few minutes.took it to dealer a few times and they keep saying that it is because when the oil gets low it this model that happens so i have to get the oil changed once a month

Ever since i purchased the vehicle i can not go more than 3,000 miles after an oil change without the vehicle shutting off on my and being bone dry on oil on the dip stick. I keep being told this particular model just burns a little extra oil but there is something wrong. It is shutting off on me in the middle of highways while i'm driving and is very unsafe. I have two small children and do not trust to put them in this car.

Filled up on gas, when starting the care it stated oil change soon. 3 miles down the road the car started to shutter like it wanted to shut off. With in 20 miles it did this 7 times on a freeway. When on the surface streets if the car was stopped it would shutter then turn off. It would state place into park and restart vehicle. I was not over due for an oil change. I did not let even the gas light come on. I had been driving the car fine till the oil change soon light came on.

Service shifter

Irregular oil consumption in the 2.4 liter model of the jeep cherokee. While driving on the highway the car shut off due to low oil pressure. There was not any warning and the car was not due for an oil change.

My vehicle was in motion. I was driving down the city street and suddenly a meaasge appeared on my screen 'service shifter' and the jeep began to jerk. The lights on each gear turned red. When i got to a place to park. I cut the jeep off and turned it back on. I then received a message when i put the jeep in drive to verify if it would drive and i received another message stating 'shift to park'. The jeep began to jerk again. I've had this jeep for one year exactly bought it with only about 3,000 miles on it and within 3 months it completely stopped on me in the middle of the road. The car would not drive at all. I had to get it towed to the dearlership where it was an issue with the engine and oil that had to be fixed and took almost 2 weeks. This jeep has all type of problems and needs to be recalled

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated the while driving 30-35 mph, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was difficult to restart. The shift to park warning light was blinking. The contact added oil to vehicle. The contact called kevin's royal automotive (3961-3964 waverly rd, owego, ny 13827, (607) 687-3412) and was informed that the vehicle was working as designed and that the safety feature was engaged. The contact was informed the safety feature engaged when the oil level was low. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was contacted however, no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. While driving approximately 10 mph, the vehicle suddenly stalled without warning. After a few attempts, the contact was able to restart the vehicle; however, it stalled intermittently while driving to a safer location. The contact stated that the failure occurred a total of three times. The contact called fuccillo dodge chrysler jeep (located at 10329 us rt 11, adams, ny 13605, 844-353-7100) and was informed that the vehicle tended to burn more oil than necessary, which caused it to shut off. The dealer also informed the contact that there was nothing to inform them of low oil before the failure occurred. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and referred the contact back to the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 26,000.

First started with jerking as you're driving at one time we were at a stoplight as and it the car just wanted to take off by itself and we almost got into a car accident the car is always low on oil i mean we bought the car with 3 miles within weeks it would actually had no oil my husband thought out maybe the manufacturer just didn't fill it up all the way by mistake didn't check it out so he went and purchased will put oil in it two weeks later took it for an oil change and we already a quart low car waste is gas like crazy we are constantly filling up every 2 days and then car doesn't really go anywhere but from what 15 miles a day on our way to kansas so we were coming to a curve and my husband try to hit the brakes and the car did not break it actually accelerated and he had to put the car in neutral as he was driving just to slow it down to avoid getting into an accident i mean we've always had trouble with this car since day one i bought the car in october and we've had multiple issues then i hear recall about a hose for the gas line that we're going to have to take it in for something definitely wrong with these cars

2018 jeep cherokee stalled while driving, in motion on state highway, oil light came on simultaneously, causing power steering to fail, finally after several attempts motor restarted but auto would not engage drive, had to turn off engine and restart x3,, this has happened 3 time today 1/24/2020

Car turns off while driving. No maintenance indication on dash. I check the oil and there is no oil even after a recent oil change. All maintenance has been with the same dealership car service. This has ocurred 5 times since purchase. Car service team has changed maintenance frequency to every 1300 miles to monitor oil consumption but have not determined root cause. Again, this has happened while driving (all 5 times) on city streets.

"service shifter" lights up.

My jeep cherokee has been shutting off while driving. This car was purchased brand new. This has happened several times. The original dealership, keffer chrysler jeep in charlotte, nc, has not returned any of my calls about this issue so i've had to go to another dealership to get this issue resolved. I have to take the vehicle for oil consumption tests but i do not feel safe in this vehicle because of the fact that it shuts off while driving. The last time it shut down i was on a main highway and was almost hit. *dtconsumer stated car completely shut off, losing control of the vehicle. There was no warning sign, which caused several accidents.

As pulling out into the road the vehicle stuttered and dogged down very bad even mashing the gas to the floor the vehicle would not go. A light came on saying throttle shift control reset needed.vehicle started to go and thedogged down again. Vehicle keeps doing it. Took it to jeep dealership and they are saying it only needs a oil change . Even though it doesn't

My vehicle ws in motion when the battery light flashed on briefly. Immediately after this my vehicle lost power completely. I was unable to steer, brake or accelerate. The vehicle completely shut off. I used my emergency brake to stop the vehicle. Consumer stated the vehicle is currently having the engine replaced but it had around 28,000 miles on it. The battery light briefly blinked on before the vehicle stopped functioning. The last oil change was on may 26,2019. Vin is invalid.

While in motion with cruise control set at 65 mph the transmission jerked twice and the engine revved up and as if it was in neutral, stayed that way as if the accelerator was stuck.i hit my brakes because we was losing speed and when stopped i tried to put in park but it sounded as if gears was gri. Ding i had to shut off the jeep to make it stop revving.i was in the middle of the 4 lane and could only shift to neutral and row backwards into the median.i was unable to put back in drive with put gears grinding.i had been driving approximately 40 mins at a speed of 60-70 when this happened.no warning lights and nothing on the dash at time of issue.

About a month and a half ago i was making a uturn on a city street and the car chimed. The car now chimes every time i make any type of turn. I took it in to the dealership and they are saying that the engine is burning the oil therefore i had no oil in my car. They told me i now have to bring the car in every 500 miles to do a test and if the engine is still burning the oil the engine will need to be replaced.

My sister was driving when the car suddenly turn off on the street. She turned it back on and everything was fine, i'm afraid of driving the car and something worse may happen.

I bought a brand new 2018 jeep latitude and at 4300 miles it started acting up and shut down right in the middle of the road i was traveling. I had to use roadside assistance and have it towed.jeep stated that it was burning a quart of oil every 1000 miles stated it was 4 quarts of oil low. They also stated that they didn't know where it was burning from either. Told me to drive it 1000 miles and bring it back. I don't even have a warning that my oil was low it just shut down.

All the engine oil leaked out of the car and started to smoke while i was in motion and the engine light came on but was perfectly fine at first. I do not know what had happened but my engine is now messing up and i almost got in a car accident.

The car will stall while making a turn (slowly or fast) and will also stall while coming to a stop. The oil light will come on for a split second then cut off. The vehicle will then stop running but will remain in the run position and you'll have to start the car again and wait for it to turn over as it sounds like it's dying. This happened again as i entered the highway. If i hit a bump it will say 4 wheel drive is not activated but will limit the rpms to 2000 so you will have to shut off the car again. I've seen numerous complaints about this and seen the 2017 and 2019 had a recall for it, why doesn't the 2018? it also has the service shifter problem where all the lights come on and you have to restart it.

Cruise control keeps coming on and off. 2.4ml engine stalls a lot hard to stop car with cruise control on and it's goes in and out on its own

The engine burns through all of the oil in about 1500 miles of driving. Oil has to be filled in between oil changes or engine will stop with no warning or oil light... Engine stops while moving

Making a right turn, engine shut off no power, lights stated i must be in park to shift warning lights. The jeep would not start. I had experienced no prior issues before this happened. I called my husband who arrived and drove it home. I called the dealership and they basically told me this was a known issue with this motor and to check the oil.upon checking the oil there was very little on the dipstick. Once again i contacted the dealership and was told i basically need to keep a check on the oil. This is a safety hazard!

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. While the vehicle was stopped, it lunged forward. The failure occurred intermittently and there were no warning indicators illuminated. Roger williams chrysler dodge jeep ram (1102 washington dr, weatherford, tx 76086, (817) 458-4091) diagnosed the vehicle, but no failure was found. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 7,000. The vin was unknown.

Car stalled and the panel stated shift to park on panel and would not crank back. Tried multiple times and had a long hard crank and engine finally caught up and cranked. Shifted into park and went about 1000 - 1500 feet and it died again. Waited and tried to crank again and went to hard crank again before starting. Took to dealer and they claimed low oil. This is the reason for going dead. Stated i needed oil changes every 5k after i was told initially 10 k then at 1st oil change told 7500k and then at this problem they stated no it was definately 5 k.this time, panel lights up and says service shifter soon. All lights on drive shifter lights up. Not just on park or reverse or drive. All lights illuminated. They come and go. I also have smelled something burning the last day or so as well. Could not confirm yet. I will continue to watch out for this. 1st date 12/4/19 and serviced at dealer on 12/5/19 mileage 31146 and now this is 2/4/20 mileage today is 34116

Service shifter on car display

As driving vehicle shuts down loose all control. Message pops up that says. Apply brake and put in park or neutral.engine shuts down. In motion on highway. Very dangerous.

I pulled to my home and the service shifter indicator lights came on. This is the second time that this has happened when putting my car in reverse.

The 2018 jeep cherokee latitude consumes oil and has a mechanism where if the car is low on oil it will just shut off when driving. This is a serious safety hazard as the car gives no warning it is low on oil. Someone is going to get killed one day when these cars just shut off in the middle of driving.*dtconsumer stated the first of roughly 15 occurrences occurred at 31k miles. The most recent happened at 41,100 miles. Usually while traveling 25-35 mph and usually happens 2k-3k miles from last oil changed. There is no warning lights on dash or alarms car just literally dies. .

Car burns oil at an excessive rate-pouring in about a quart per week. If it gets too low (even before suggested oil change mileage) the engine shuts off while driving. No warning or indicator lights. The entire engine shuts off while you are driving down the road. Currently happened 3 times to me-oil was low each time. Very scary!

Vechicle was in motion and vechicle completely stopped and shut off in the middle of the road. Vechicle then restarted and did the same thing a second time.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. While driving 40 mph,the vehicle stalled and was difficult to restart. The contact called don miller dodge chrysler jeep ram fiat (5802 odana rd, madison, wi 53719, (608) 270-5000) and informed them of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 20,000.

Vehicle is stalling due to excessive oil consumption.....no oil indicator light comes on. But vehicle even when oil indicator gage says there is oil....the oil is low and causes stalling. There is a recall for this vehicle for excessive oil consumption. Stalls when vehicle is stationary in traffic. Brought the car in for oil consumption test. They said everything was normal and to change oil every 3000. Thuis does not fix the underlying issue. Reading online there seems to be a class action suit and dealerships are not helpful with this issue. Nervous to drive long distance especially when no indicator lights illuminate to let you know you are low on oil.

My 2018 jeep cherokee latitude stalls while in motion.so far it has only happened on neighborhood streets.i have 36,500 miles on it. *dtconsumer took vehicle to the dealership on april 27th,2019 for oil change, they did not mention low oil but did say may have low on coolant but wasn't positive.

Vehicle started stalling randomly. It start with a chime on turns and progressed to this. Took it to dealer and they said it was low in oil just had oil changed 3 months prior. They found off valve was bad replaced. Vehicle then started burning gas 20 miles and half tank. Took back to sewer for oil consumption test. Problem with stalling started again. Dealer couldn't replicate issue. *dt

Car stalled entering onto highway. Alternator went out.

Picked up the vehicle from southern jeep greenbrier va. March 17, 2018, after transmission was replaced, 854 miles on vehicle.drove the vehicle 22 miles home without incident.left home 0800 march 18, 2018 and drove less than 2 miles and at 55 mph the engine quit without warning (no warning lights until the engine cut off) on the kings highway state rt. 125.this road has limited shoulders as it travels through a swamp so the vehicle was in the road presenting a safety hazard.called good sams roadside assistance and had the vehicle towed to southern jeep greenbrier.two major component failures transmission and engine within a week with half that time undergoing repairs. Fault codes displayed in the dashboard with the engine not running: engine temperature warning, engine check/malfunction, engine throttle control, electronic park brake, and electronic stability control.i tried multiple time to restart the engine with no success.i am concerned about the safety and reliability of this vehicle.

While company employee was driving the vehicle, without warning, the engine shuts down.it has happened numerous times, at highway speeds, and also in town in traffic without warning. The jeep dealer said it needed an oil change, but the oil life monitor says there is still 56% oil life remaining.after the oil change, the problem seems to go away for a while.after researching, it appears to be related to the vehicles hydraulically driven variable valve timing.jeep says the vehicle is low on oil, that's why the oil change fixes the problem, but no oil light or any other warning ever comes on.the vehicle just dies and then restarts after coasting off the road or stopping in the middle of traffic.

Since we bought it new, it has stalled when turning (usually left) when the oil level gets low.i have taken it to the dealership where they have told me that i should have to put oil in it frequently and that the engine shutting off is a safety mechanism.the problem is, there is no indication that the oil level is low.so unless i keep track of how many miles i have driven, the jeep will just quit on me.ihave dealt with the issue until recently when i came within inches of getting slammed on my passenger door because i stalled in the middle of the oncoming traffic. If a low oil light came on, i would obviously have more oil put in, but i get no warning at all.it just quits.usually in the middle of the road.the enclosed pictures are of when i had to put oil in it in november.the last episode of almost getting hit happenedon jan 16.

While driving my car, the engine shut off in mid drive, in motion, in a parking structure getting ready to get on the freeway.i complained to the dealer and they said it was because i needed an oil change and i wasn't over mileage by that much, he said he has heard this happen before to a customer.i was so terrified because i could have been on the freeway and could have gotten into an accident and injured and until this day i am very disturbed and worry if it will turn off while driving and even more terrified if i am on the freeway!i just want to report this because the dealership's response didn't sit well with me and i think it is very very dangerous for the car to turn off just because you need an oil change, is there a defect in my car?thank you

Started car and put into drive. Started driving service shifter came up. All the lights in my shifter lit up.

Car stalls when driving it without warning. *dtconsumer stated vehicle at dealership.

Regarding recall 18v-524 for the powertrain control module, fca reports that the repair parts are not available and there is no eta

In march, driving down red road - car suddenly stalled and then shut down completely.as it was shutting down, i was able to move it to the right lane as to avoid the traffic. Called tow truck and when they came, went to jump the car and there was no need - car started.went straight to the dealer and they said it's an issue with this car that i can't wait until the oil is low.pandemic came so didn't drive much - last thursday, 7/18, i got in the car and it didn't start again - i waited a while and it hesitated starting. Finally started and went to do groceries.leaving the store, the same thing happened, the car did not start at all, continued to try and it finally started.took car to the dealer 7/17/20 - still 1,000 miles to go before next oil change and again, they said i have to do the oil change now every 2500 miles.the car has synthetic oil - i should not have to change every 2500 miles as the oil is also more expensive. Today 7/18, car did not start again, shut down completely.after several attempts it started and now the check engine light is on. Read online car has issues with the engine shutting down and stalling and there is a class action suit.i am afraid to drive it as it may stop in the middle of the road and it's a safety concern.heading to the dealer again tomorrow morning because now the check engine light is on and continue to have the issue of the car not starting, shutting down and stalling.

The contact leased a 2018 jeep cherokee latitude. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with an unknown warning light illuminated. The vehicle operated as intended after the vehicle was restarted. The vehicle was taken to quirk chrysler dodge jeep ram of dorchester (40 hallet st, boston, ma 02124) where the gear shifter bezel was replaced however, the failure recurred soon after the repair. The vehicle was taken back to the same dealer where a 40 point inspection was performed. The contact was informed that the failure was linked to a low oil pressure. The dealer informed the contact to monitor the oil and to return once the vehicle had accumulated an additional 1,000 miles. The contact brought the vehicle back on two separate occasions after driving 1,000 miles however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a case was filed. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 17,844.

Burning one quart of oil every 1,400 to 1,500 miles since it turned 30,000 miles

Car turn off on its own error code p2172 u1428 maybe throttle body. Other jeep have a recall on this but my vin isnā€™t included.

On march 14th while slowing and turning right on a state maintained country road, the vehicle engine stalled and power steering was out with the battery light on..vehicle was restarted after two attempts after putting it back into park. On march 16th while driving the vehicle to the dealership, the vehicle stalled at a stop light in the same manner described above on us hwy 421.it took 4 attempts to restart the vehicle.currently the dealership cannot recreate the stall and will be sending us on our way with this vehicle unrepaired. Many complaints have been found in a simple google search.this is a dangerous condition and will possible cause serious injury or death to the driver and occupants.

My 2018 jeep cherokee latitude plus shut off while driving. The first time (12/8/2019 @ 1200 hrs) i was pulling up to a stop sign and it just shut off. No dash indicator warning lights and ithad plenty of fuel.the second time (12/9/2019 @ apprx 1600 hrs)i was turning left onto a very busy city street and it shut off.i was able to coast to the side of the road so i wouldn't get hit. Again no warnings at all. After apprx 10 minutes car was able to restart.drove straight to dallas dodge(apprx 23 miles.) they said it was low on oil.should add oil or get oil change. But since they were closing they did not have anyone who could help. Also said an oil consumption test needed to be done, but they could not perform it.oil change places were closed. I drove to auto zone and purchased a 5 qt bottle of synthetic oil.added 3 qts. To fill. 16-dectook car to appointment @ ed voyles.they had to add 1.5 qts of oil.said to bring it back in 1000 miles or if oil got low before that, bring it in so they can measure it and document amount of time and mileage. 4-jan2nd oil consumption test at ed voyles.they had to add 1 qt. Said to come back in 1000 miles 1/15/20203rd oil consumption test. Required 2 quarts to be added.service dept said engine needs to be replaced.they will call chrysler/jeep warranty to order new engine.however, they said they will not providea courtesy vehicle i will have to rent one.

I have a 2018 jeep cherokee with under 30,000 miles on it. My car's stalled in the middle of an intersection while taking a right turn. My brakes and steering were locked, causing me to drift up on to a curb and hit a sign. No warning or indicator lights came on in the car prior to this. I had the car towed to the dealership that i am leasing the car from. I was told that this is common with jeeps, that the car will burn through oil very quickly, that no low oil indicator light will come on, and that the engine will shut down as a 'safety feature.' i was told that there is nothing i can do to protect myself beyond getting oil changes every 3k miles and that it 'should' be fine. Again, there is absolutely no warning that the car will shut down or that there is an issue prior to it turning off while in motion. The car shutting off while in motion was referred to as a safety feature by the dealership who would only offer me an oil change as a fix.

I have oil leaking from between the engine and cylinder head which has leaked enough to coat the engine block and is also losing coolant. Dealer diagnosed as a seepage says is normal and says chrysler won't fix it. So according to chrysler your 2.4 engine is supposed to leak and burn oil. This is a fire hazard.

In november car completely shut off, having no steering and hard breaking. Took car in for this along with an oil change dealership stated this was a software update. They performed the update but failed to tell me anything else. Last week car did the same exact thing, called dealership spoke with the service manager and he informed me that chrysler had designed the car to shut off with no warning lights at all. The issue he said was the motor using oil at approximately 21,589 miles. I expressed my concerns with him and also called chrysler and they again told me the exact thing that it is not suppose to give you a warning it was made when the oil gets low the car will shut off.my concerns is me or someone else is going to be severely hurt or even killed. When i checked the oil level in my car it barely reached the end of the dip stick. Luckily i was on the street i lived on when this took place. I researched the complaint on line and this has been a problem since 2017.

Car stalls while driving. When letting off the accelerator, the car will make a beeping sound and car dies. It takes a couple tries to get the car restarted. This only happens while car is cold. Once it is running for a while it doesn't seem to die. Seems related to the complaints ofrecall u87.

Vehicle has stalled approximately 10 times in the last 2 weeks. Some on the streets and 3 times on the freeway. Half the time i was with my children. You have to put it back on park, wait about 10-15 seconds, then switch it on an off three times before it starts again.

I was driving on the city street coming to a stop sign. I stopped at the stop sign and when i went to pull out, the car slowed down, puttered and the accelerated more than i gave it gas to. Then i go to the gas station & pullin into the parking lot, the parking lot has somewhat of a steep incline, when i go to pull in, the car puttered and the dies . And thats when the service shifter came on . I followed the directions of the service shifter but that didnt work. I turned the car off and on, it started up fine and the service shifter turned off.

Unable to fill gas tank - nozzle keeps turning off and spitting gas out of spout. Tried slowing down flow but after tank is about 3/4 full it just keeps clicking and going off. This has happened at three different fuel stations over the last two weeks. My jeep has about 15,000 miles on it and this has been the story for the last 3,000 miles.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated that fuel leaked from the vehicle and a burning odor entered the cabin of the vehicle. In addition, the fuel gauge failed to display the correct fuel level. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 18v282000 (fuel system, gasoline). The dealer (bob brady dodge chrysler jeep ram fiat, 4025 e boyd road, decatur, il 62521, (217) 876-3800) was contacted and stated that there was a waiting list for the recall repair. The failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 7,123.

The vehicle has stalled out three times while pulling out into traffic, the dealer said when the oil gets low it shuts off.there was no oil showing the oil stick at all and i have only 2,008 miles on it. It should not completely use all the oil in 2,000 miles.

Irregular oil consumption in the 2.4 liter model of the jeep cherokee. While driving on the highway the car shut off due to low oil pressure. There was not any warning and the car was not due for an oil change.

My sensors only work sometimes, my key fob only works when it wants.it's starting to have issues. My jeep stopped working on the highway all of a sudden

Service shifter illuminates on dash and all auto transmission gears on shifter illuminate. Occurs when car is in motion. Has occurred multiple times in past week. Search of internet shows this is very common among theses vehicles

Transmission randomly does not want to go in the right gear.the vehicle then feels like it is almost stopping and jerking hard while the vehicle then finds the correct gear and starts working properly again a weird noise also seems to randomly come for the engine or transmission.i have not been able to find a trigger or what makes the transmission do this, it seems completely random.i have taken it to two different dealerships and both said they could not duplicate the problem.the second time i took it in they took it on a test drive said they heard the noise and kept my vehicle overnight, the next day he called and said nothing is wrong don't worry about it.as we were leaving the dealership another service advisor came up and stated that they have several complaints about this and they do not know how to fix the issue so they are all advised to state they can not duplicate the problem so that people do not start returning their cars.he also stated to file a compliant so that chrysler will do something about the issues with the transmissions

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated that the vehicle shut-off while driving at various speeds, without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed him of an unknown recall on the vehicle. The mechanic suggested that the vehicle no longer be driven until it was repaired. The contact called hertrich chrysler dodge jeep ram of elkton (1147 e pulaski hwy, elkton, md 21921) where he was informed that the vin was not under recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was unknown.

While driving service shifter warning came on and all lights on shifter were lit. This happened around 37;600 miles.

While i was driving down i95 - the gearshift froze up and the entire gearshaft turned red. I was unable to shift gears until i was able to slow down / come to a stop on the side of an exit road. This has happened a total of two times on separate occasions - once three months after the dealership claimed they fixed the issue.

I turned my jeep on, put it into drive and the screen says service shifter. All lights on shorter are on.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated that while driving, the service light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the issue as needing to replace the bezel and harness on the gear shifter. The mechanic stated that if left unrepaired, the vehicle would eventually be unable to shift out of park. The contact made an appointment with huntington jeep chrysler dodge ram (5080 jericho tpke, commack, ny 11725 (631) 993-3300). The dealer stated that they had not heard of the issue before and provided and estimated cost to do the repairs. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 45,000.*ln*dt

A warning light "service shifter" comes on without warning. All the lights at the shifter illuminate and won't shut off unless the car is re-started

Check engine light came on at 18001 - vehicle was in park and just started so i can drive it - had been sitting for over a day so engine was cold. Display in center of panel read "service shifter".the next day the message and check engine light were gone.took to dealership since still under warranty and they said it needs a new wiring harness and new shifter.been advised by dealership and internet research that this is a common problem and wanted to add my jeep to the list to assist in getting this item recalled before someone gets seriously injured.

Service shifter light came on and all gears lit up red, pulled over and shut off then turned back on. Alarm went away, third time.

Driving on highway and the "service shifter" warning came up on the information screen and all the shifter indicator lights p r n d etc. Light up. Had to stop and restart the vehicle.

Vehicle was in motion. Screen displays service shifter. All lights on the prndl next to the shifrer are lit simultaneously.

Normal driving either long or short trip, warning appears on dash "service shifter" and all the led's light up on shifter. Happens when slowing down (actually both times i was slowing down to pull into my driveway).

The serviceshifter light keeps coming on, i have to shut the car off and restart it to make it go out, then it comes back on.

Service shifter warning on dash.i've already had this supposedly replaced under warranty once and the light has been coming back on again.evidently, this is an ongoing problem from what i'm seeing and it would be nice if jeep owners didn't have to continue to suffer the consequences of the manufacturer's short comings.this is getting ridiculous.just had to have my oil recall addressed because they clearly can't build cars properly.a recall would be fabulous so we don't have to keep forking out money on things we shouldn't have to.

The shifter keep saying that it needs to be serviced the car only has 30,000 miles on it . I have spoken with other jeep owners and they say that they have has the same issue

Service shifter appears on screen, all selections on shifter light up red. 40,000 miles. Hundreds of others with the same problem on the forums. Vehicle stationary. Just started up. Turn off and restart- it goes away

My jeeps service shifter light comes on every few hundred miles and always when i'm driving it's comes on during my trips to georgia and just driving around the city. I constantly complained to the dealership about it and they told me to bring it in and they'll look at it but if you turn the vehicle off the lights turn themselves back off and you have to wait for it to happen again. Well this happened almost every time i took the car in and so they never took me seriously and would turn me away saying nothing looked wrong with the car. Well the last time the light came on a clicking sound followed when accelerating and soon after my rear driveshaft fell out while driving down the road. I took it to my dealership as i have a warranty with them and i told them about everything, including the lights and the clicking noise. They finally returned the car to me 'fixed' after having it for over a month. They claimed that they had fixed everything i told them about but the lights came right back on three days later and now the things basically fights any form of acceleration and it aggressively jerks every time it downshifts and it makes a small clunk noise when reversing.

The contact's wife owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated while his wife was driving 60 mph, several lights on the gear shifter illuminated and service shifter warning message also appeared on the instrument panel. His wife slowed down to 30 mph and was able to reach her destination without further issues. The contact called barkau chrysler dodge jeep ram of freeport (700 e south st, freeport, il 61032) but the dealership was closed. The contact then called anderson chrysler dodge jeep ram (5711 e. State st, rockford, il 61108) where the contact was informed to bring the vehicle in as soon as possible to be serviced. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. 'service shifter' warning appears without warning and all gear indicator lights turn red. In motion. 65 mph us 18 or 218 waterloo iowa.i'm told a shifter bezel and wiring harness are needed but not available.

Purchased a 2018 jeep cherokee in may of 2019. A few months in to ownership i had an odd occurrence where all of the lights on my gear shift prnd were all lit up red. And the warning notation on dash said "service shifter". It was alarming but happened once or twice over a period of several months so i thought it was a fluke or mishap. Fast forward to march of 2020, right under a year of ownership and the service shifter problem has become near constant. I will hear a 'ding' in the middle of driving, sometimes at high speeds on the freeway, the gear shifter will turn all red again and the message appears on screen. While this is happening you cannot get anything else to come on the screen....fuel economy or speed, which i use regularly in my vehicle. ---i contacted my dealership and was told there are no active recalls on this vehicle and that i am out of basic warranty and the powertrain warranty would only cover engine/transmission, thus not helping me in this situation. After hearing that from them i decided to look up this issue online and imagine my surprise to see i am not alone with this issue. I came across numerous similar complaints. Please look into issuing a recall for this issue as it comes on suddenly and is startling when you are driving and it happens. It has become quite an unsettling experience driving this vehicle that i have owned less than a year.

Service shifter warning comes on very often while driving vehicle.

'service shifter' message appears on screen and all lights on shifter light up. Goes away after turning off car and turning back on. When message appears, cannot view digital speedometer or other car diagnostics. Dealer does not know what the issue is.

When my vehicle accelerates the transmission seems to be slipping or not fully engaging. The rpms will spike to about 4,000 before the transmission will shift, and when it shifts the whole vehicle will shudder like it's been hit by a sledgehammer wielded by thor himself. To be able to continue driving my vehicle i have to slowly accelerate and keep the vehicle under 3,000 rpms. This only seems to be a problem on a highway or roadway that is 55mph or higher.

I have 2018 jeep cherokee with 85353 miles it had service shifter twice when i was driving so i had to pull over on highway and turn off engine and turn on engine shift to park then to drive

Have had several issues with this cherokee, my oil pressure light would come on when i would take sudden turn, i took it in to my local dealer and they stated to start an oil consumption test, it appears the motor equipped in the cherokee was burning oil and they couldn't determine where the oil was going, also during this time, my 'service shifter' light came on my dash and all of the shifter lights would come on at the same time, this would happen periodically, they decided they needed to replace motor due to the oil issue, i asked about the service shifter issue, they stated that they could not find any faults with the service shifter, sure enough 3 weeks later my service shifter light came on again and wouldn't go off, i was unable to tell which gear i was in because of this because ofall of the gear lights were on simultaneously, needless to say, the dealer does not have an answer for this issue, i would like to request this issue be documented and repaired or recalled.

Message "service shifter" displays on screen and red lights light-up along the shifter... Occurs when jeep is stationary, in driveway or parking lots - multiple times.dealership says its not part of the power train...?and supposedly never heard of this message....?the car is not safe as when this message comes up you cannot manually select gears, and neither can you access key information like tire pressure, coolant/oil/transmission temps, oil life, battery voltage, fuel economy, trip info. It also disables the ability to get to screen setup,.

Driving down a city highway the service shifter alert came on. All of the lights next to the indicators on the shifter lit up. This has happened twice so far today. The parking brake has also been turning itself on as soon as the jeep is put in gear and the foot is let off of the brake.

I have a 2018 jeep cherokee. The service shifter keeps coming on and all the gear shift lights are lit up. The car will stall or completely stop operating when this occurs. It occurs when i am driving in city traffic, highway traffic or stationary.

Service shifter warning appears in instrument cluster area and all the lights on shifter light up solid red and stay illumanated.

I continue to get a service shifter issue. Vehicle has 13,000 miles on it. This is a known problem across multiple years of cherokees. Dealership said it was a battery problem but after a new battery, i still receive the warning. Warning came on while parked, just after startup.

Have not owned vehicle for a year yet, bought with about 1000 miles on it.it was previously owned by somebody in dealership from what we were told.at 11,677 miles the "service shifter" warning showed up and shifter panel lit up while i was driving in town and stayed that way until i turned the jeep off a few miles later.hasn't shown up again and i'm taking it to dealer tomorrow.it's been three days since it happened but i'm afraid what might happen.i've read online about many complaints about this issue over the years for jeep.what are we waiting for - they need to fix this!!!i'm getting this documented now!

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. While driving 60 mph or more, the vehicle stalled and the "vehicle not in park" warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dodge chrysler jeep city (4395 us-130, burlington, nj 08016, (855) 242-0015) where the contact was informed that they would have to test drive the vehicle in order to perform diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 19,000. *dt

Service shifter dash warning comes on while driving. At the same time, the prnd lights on the gear selector light up. The notification clears and the lights turn off when the vehicle is shut off and restarted; however, the notification will appear again intermittently. The vehicle has been serviced for this issue three times and will go in for another service to resolve this issue on wednesday, july 29. As of now, the vehicle has not been repaired and the warning light still comes on.

While driving at 55mph, my jeep gave "service shifter" and reduced power. All shifter lifts where lite.i pulled over and call my dealer, they advised me to turn off engine for 2 minutes and restart my jeep, this should clear it. This was at 34,000. It did clear it. It happen again at 35,900 miles and i did what i was told the first time.. Happen again at 37,500 miles, finally got dealer to look at it and now they say i need a new bezels, harness and shifter.i have read this has happen to 1,000sof others.

Service shifter message keeps coming up which makes the vehicle stuck in gear and won't shift. All drive indicator lights light up and or flash i have been to the dealership 3 times now for this issue and still not fixed. This is a safety issue and should be recalled.

Warning appears about the shifter and all the lights come on. I read a forum where dozens of people are having this problem and having to replace their harness and wiring kit. I've also been told there's something about this models cruise control but when i search on here nothing comes up.

Service shifter light always on in motion and in park. Burns 1 qt of oil every 2000 milesvehicles jerks when trying to accelerate in motion

While driving the vehicle behind to stall and then cuts off in the raidwithout warning, as i turned into traffic. Vehicle starts with no warnings of any sort but then as i am driving cuts off as i am turning into the roadway and there is traffic

Regarding recall 18v-524 for the powertrain control module, fca reports that the repair parts are not available and there is no eta

Vechicle was in motion and vechicle completely stopped and shut off in the middle of the road. Vechicle then restarted and did the same thing a second time.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. While driving 30 mph, the transmission overheated and the check engine, anti-lock brakes, and emergency warning indicators illuminated. Additionally, there was an abnormal burning odor. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (hawk chrysler dodge jeep, 7911 roosevelt rd, forest park, il 60130) where it was diagnosed that the pmc module needed to be reset. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken back to hawk chrysler dodge jeep. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 535. Updated 8/21/18

Service shifter light came on while i was driving.

Service shifter light comes on and remains on with all shifter lights on at the same time. Menu for car is no accessible dash panel is locked. Periodically and randomly comes on and goes off when driving or stationary. Called dealer and they haven't heard of it.

I was driving the vehicle at 32,128 miles and got a service message that said 'service shifter'. I contacted my dealership and they said it is an issue they've seen before. I was on a city street, i got to a parking lot as soon as possible. Called the dealership before shifting to park, or turning the car off. They informed me that by turning the car off, the light should disappear when i turned it back on. When i turned my car on after turning it on, the light was gone.

During the course of traveling on june 18th 2019 i received a message via the display that said "service shifter". In addition the gear shift panel (park, reverse, drive) collectively illuminated in red. The issue gave the impression that the transmission or gears could cease from working while in motion.

While driving and sometimes when turning my car on and putting it in gear all the lights on the gear shifter will come on and it will read a message on the dash "service gear shifter". I will have to come to a stop, put it in park, and shut it off and turn it back on before the message will go away and the lights will go off.

My car lost all power while in motion in the middle of a city street intersection with a shifter error code. Would now accelerate, and the steering wheel locked. Turned off and back on and did it instantly again. Called the dealership and was told it needed an oil change. I just purchased this vehicle 2 months ago.

Many times when the vehicle hits a good sharp bump in the road or i bump the shifter sharply, the display immediately gives a service shifter fault alert on the communication panel and all of the lights p, r, n, f and the manual lights illuminate on the shifter. The vehicle can be moving or at rest and the ignition on for this to happen. I have reported the incidents at each of the oil service checkups at the dealer, however when all is said and done it never gets acknowledged that it was even mentioned or the mechanic that works on transmissions could not get to it that day.

2018 cherokee with under 15k miles.upon start up, warning for "service shifter" appears along with all lights are lit up on shifter. Turning off ignition and restarting will make message disappear. Mechanics not sure what true issue is. On going issue with no resolution. Today, message would not reset. No recall to date.

Service shift li8ght comes on and then randomly goes away, it will randomly come on while driving, there was a recall on 2017 jeep cherokee's with this issue

Entering i 264 va,pressed accelerator resulting in a lurching motion, the vehicle would not accelerate causing other vehicles to swerve to avoid rear ending our 2018 jeep cherokee latitude.it repeated this action many times as we limped home under 40 mph.we were afraid to drive the vehicle and called the dealer (southern chrysler jeep at greenbrier).the dealer authorized towing the vehicle in for repairs. The service representative called us and said the transmission mechanic authorized ordering a new transmission due to the fact that the transmission would not come out of gear.

While driving and stationary the service shifter light illuminates on the dash and all the lights on the floor shifter illuminate all gear positions.also, at low speed, when adding power, the transmission has a "bump" as it tries to shift into the next gear.makes it jerk/clunk into gear.

The service shifter light came on at 74,000 miles and again at 77,000 miles while in motion.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, several the gears on the shifter illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to red river dodge chrysler jeep located at (1060 heber spring rd, heber springs, ar 72543) where it was diagnosed that the sensor in the gear shifter needed to be repaired. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted months later. The vehicle was taken back to red river dodge chrysler jeep where the contact was unaware of what needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and provided a case number. The approximate failure mileage was 11,000.

Service shifter keeps coming on my car while i'm driving since i bought it and it lights up all red next to the p r n d and you can't see your mph on the screen or tell what gear you are in. I have to pull over turn my car off and open my door and then restart it for it to go away. Sometimes it comes right back on. I told dealership and they said they can't do anything about it until it comes on and they can hook it up to the machine because nothing comes on when they plug computer in to the car.

All lights on shifter console light up red and light which says "service shifter" shows up on dash.reviews of this problem online is showing it to be a common problem.

Service shifter warning on dash & all red lights of shifter.car only has 17, 500 miles. Vehicle was stationary.

Transmission is shifting very hard randomly while driving

The "service shifter" display comes on intermittently during startup and when pulling in to a parking area. The vehicle has to be placed in park, shut off and then restarted. Had the vehicle checked and no odb code shown in memory and have been told that this is a common occurrence by owners but dealers claim to have no knowledge of this problem.

I own2018 jeep cherokee with 56,000 miles and the service shifter light comes on the dash and all the lights light up on the gear shifter. This happens after driving for around 15 - 20 miles and once the car is turned off with the electronic push button start the lights go away for a short time and then come back on again. This happens only when the car is in motion.

Service shifter warning came on when pulled into driveway. Vehicle has less than 12k miles

Service shifter and all lights on gear shifter light up

While in motion, all the indicator lights for my shifter turned on and service shifter warning was illuminated on my cluster. Once i stopped and turned off the vehicle, the condition cleared and went away. This has occurred to me about 6 to 8 times in the last 6 months or so, some have been while driving, and it doesn't matter the type of road i have been on when it happens, and some have been when i start the vehicle and it immediately shows up. The dealership i took my vehicle in to get the problem diagnosed, which is west hills chrysler jeep dodge ram, in bremerton washington, mentioned after i asked if this was a common thing that they were doing about a repair a week for this issue.

For the second time while driving "service shifter"message came on and all lights on gear box lit up. Pulled over and cut car off and restarted and lights went off

"service shifter" message appears in the meter cluster and message does not disappear until engine is shut off and turned back on. All lights on the shifter (in the center console) illuminate and do not turn off until the engine is shut off and turned back on. Phenomena occurred both at first start up as well as while driving on a major street.

Car stalls while driving. When letting off the accelerator, the car will make a beeping sound and car dies. It takes a couple tries to get the car restarted. This only happens while car is cold. Once it is running for a while it doesn't seem to die. Seems related to the complaints ofrecall u87.

After less than 1 year old getting a service shifter message on start up. It would go away when i turned engine off and on but note won't do away. Care less than a year old but just out of went due to milage.

Service shifter message appeared when i was driving. The drive, reverse, neutral and other drive indicators lit up in red.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the service shifter warning light illuminated. The gear shifter box was illuminated as well. The contact restarted the vehicle and the vehicle worked as designed. The contact called #1 cochran chrysler dodge jeep ram (110 rte 908 building 2, natrona heights, pa 15065, (412) 245-4280) however, the vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 20,000.

Display indicates "service shifter" and all lights on gear selector are lit (prnd).this occurred at 30,000 miles (code u1465 and p1c86-1d) and was serviced by the dealer.dealer replaced the shifter.issue is reoccurring at 50,000 miles.

Three times over a period of four days while driving all lights on the gear shift (park, neutral, reverse, and driving) lit up and a message came on the dashboard that read "service shifter".each time the vehicle was in motion, twice while on city streets and once while entry a highway.all three times the vehicle was turning left.

The service shifter notification came up on the dashboard screen while the vehicle was in motion on the highway, unable to be cleared, and all red lights on shifter were lit up. (prnd) after stopping, turning off vehicle and restarting cleared the message, however, vehicle also continues to jerk in between gears.

The 'service shifter' comes on and all of the gears light up. The car has a smell of antifreeze but no indication of the car running hot. The warning goes away after restarting the car. This happens while the car is in motion

The car randomly shut off while i was at a light. It has done this several times and it is very dangerous. I almost got rear ended. There has been several complaints about this. It was in motion once and the wheel locked up. But it was a very slow motion.second time i was taking off from a stop

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. While driving various speeds, the service shifter warning indicator illuminated. The contact also mentioned that the gear selectors illuminated red. The vehicle was taken to gossett chrysler dodge jeep ram (1901 covington pike, memphis, tn 38128, (901) 388-8989) where the bezel was replaced, but the failure occurred twice after the repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and scheduled an appointment with the dealer. The failure mileage was unknown.

While driving on small hwy- all lights on shifter illuminate and a service shifter message displays, message goes away after stop and restart

At 19500miles service shifter message came on and red lights appeared by park, neutral, drive, reverse etc on car shifter, driving on highway. Stopped turned it off and light went out.this appears to be a very common complaint on this make and model and low mileage.

My service shift lights up on dash and all the lights for p,r,n,d all light up.this needs a recall i have read hundreds of issues with this and some are getting attorneys.this needs to be recalled my jeep only has 48000 miles.and if i'm seriously injured i'll be suing also.you can't let this continue these dealerships needs to handle this as a recall!

While driving my dash lights up with "service shifter" and all the lights light up on the shifter.i have seen many many of these complaints some of which are associated with accidents stemming from the problem.i am a little scared to drive the truck now.it does not always stay on but is starting to come on more often now.the truck is in the shop now and i am being told it will not be covered.how many people have to be hurt or killed before chyrsler acknowledges and takes care of this problem.

Service shifter light came on on dash after i started my jeep, also all the red lights next to the shifter were lit up. Would not turn off until restarting the vehicle. Have read many jeep owners having the same issue with their cherokees. Should be recalled and fixed by jeep!

The car will just shut off in idle , sometimes it will start right back up,others you have to wait a few minutes.took it to dealer a few times and they keep saying that it is because when the oil gets low it this model that happens so i have to get the oil changed once a month

While driving my dash will suddenly state "service shifter" and all my gear shifter lights will be lit up. The only way i get them off is i have to pull over, stop, turn vehicle off, and restart it. This has happen in town and on the highway. This has happened now several times over approximately 4 months now. The first time being when i got my first oil change.

My 2018 jeep cherokee has less than 18,000 miles on it and over the course of the last few months, the service shifter message appeared on my dashboard and the tree lights were all lit up. I parked the car, turned it off and waited a few minutes and turned it back on. Lights and message was gone. This happened once after that - about 2 months later - and same thing, i was able to reset it by turning it off and on.today the message appeared on my dashboard and would not go away. I drove straight home (about 3 miles), pulled in to my driveway and it would not go in to park or neutral - it stayed in drive. I was able to turn the car off but not extract the key nor could i start the car again. I was driving every time the warning light and tree lights came on.today the only way i could get my key out was to use the manual shifter and try to remember the shifting pattern! i eventually figured it out and was able to remove the key. The dealer can't tell me if my extended warranty covers it but wants me to drive it over to them about 15 miles away. I am reading that cost is anywhere between $400-$1,000 and days without a vehicle. There are hundreds of posts citing the same issue on carguru's website. This really needs investigated for a recall. There is no way this is safe!! this is my one and only daily driver and i cannot be without a vehicle!check out the complaints here: https://www.cargurus.com/cars/discussion-t68742_ds990296

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the gear shifter warning light illuminated and informed that shifter service was required. The drive, neutral, park, and reverse warning lights were illuminated simultaneously. The contact stated that the console lights became inoperable during the failure. An unknown dealer was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed to stop the vehicle and reset the lights at the next failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000.

Power transfer unit failed, 2014-2017 models the same as mine have been recalled for this very type of failure. My 2018 was build with exact same ptu assembly.i think mine should be covered under this recall was driving to store on hwy 26 8 miles west of swan valley idaho, cruise control set at 65 mph , loud bang, lost all forward motion, coasted to side of road, put in park and vehicle rolled backwards into dirt on side of hwy, braked and set park brake, called tow truck and vehicle is at local jeep dealership, could have killed me if conditions were different.

Service shifter light comes on and p r n d all light up red. Was sent in less than a year ago. Dealer changed some type of wiring harness in the transmission. And flashed the transmission. Week later jeep became very hesitant and started shifting really hard. Was sent back to dealer. It was then noted transmission needed a update, now 6-8 months later the same issue is re-occurring. This is issue is occuring in 100-1000's of jeep cherokees this model. So i am not the only one this is a dangerous issue that needs to be addressed. Thank you

2018 jeep 22000 miles, has continued and worsening shiftier or transmission issue with red lights, needs service and locks out transmission changes to regulate speed.this has been at the two different dealers with an ongoing safety issue.i am a retired nicb special agent and have worked auto theft.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 30 mph, the front axle fractured causing the vehicle to crash into a park vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the failure was not a manufacturer issue. The approximate failure mileage was 37,000.

Recently my son was complaining about difficulty buckling his seat belt. Upon inspection, i noticed that his seat belt was frayed in several places. It is now frayed half way through the width. I thought maybe he was being to rough with the seatbelt, until i noticed my older sons seatbelt was doing the same thing. To avoid using the seatbelts further, i have had to move my youngest son to the middle and my oldest tothe front passenger.*dtconsumer stated she was not sure if there was damage to the wiring.

Driving down a city highway the service shifter alert came on. All of the lights next to the indicators on the shifter lit up. This has happened twice so far today. The parking brake has also been turning itself on as soon as the jeep is put in gear and the foot is let off of the brake.

The rear brake calipers stuck on and wore the rear brake pads and rotors out in the first 50,000 miles. The front brakes barely show signs of wear.

Was driving down the road and the parking break came on and would not release.

Service shifter light comes on and all the lights on the shifter light up and some causes vehicle to stall . Dealer says it needs a new wiring harness and bezel but is not under recall even know its a common problem and has been for years. Talked to multipul people having same issue one involved in a crash from it

Front right brake pad/rotor failure when stopping vehicle.appearance of significant localized brake pad material is cemented to the rotor in one location causing failure of right front tire to brake properly.vehicle delivered after purchase with 272 miles, noticed on first trip that the system "pulsated" when stopping. Increased stopping distance required from highway speeds. Inspection of assembly shows approximately 2" circular rusted ring on rotor, indicating failure occurred with less than 272 miles on vehicle.

Rack and pinion completely broke with only 37,000 miles

The car shutting off while in motion was referred to as a safety feature by the dealership who would only offer me an oil change as a fix.

My car lost all power while in motion in the middle of a city street intersection with a shifter error code. Would now accelerate, and the steering wheel locked. Turned off and back on and did it instantly again. Called the dealership and was told it needed an oil change. I just purchased this vehicle 2 months ago.

All lights on shifter come on randomly when turning on vehicle.you can't put in drive while lights are on. You have to turn car on multiple times or until lights go off.on dash board it reads service gear shift lights

While driving highway speeds there is a vibration between 60 and 80 miles per hour. I have had the tires replaced, rims replaced and no change in vibration. It has started since i owned the vehicle with 7 miles on the odometer till today with 9000 miles on it. The dealer claims that this is normal throughout the line of cherokees and is just "road vibration" but talking with other owners this is not the case and they do not experience the same thing. It does tend to fade away during long left turns on the freeway but appears as soon as the vehicle straightens. Numerous attempts to get the dealership to fix this has resulted in no headway as the dealer claims that this is normal.

Purchased my 2018 cherokee in feb 2018 and in october 2019 had vibration in steering wheel. Dealer said i had 4 warpped rotors that needed to be replaced at my expense. It seemed odd at only 18 months of normal driving, mostly highway.

The car randomly shut off while i was at a light. It has done this several times and it is very dangerous. I almost got rear ended. There has been several complaints about this. It was in motion once and the wheel locked up. But it was a very slow motion.second time i was taking off from a stop

Front end wobble when accelerating from low speeds.

The contact owns a 2018 jeep cherokee. The contact stated that the cosmetic panel on the front driver's side door that went from the bottom to the top of the window, flew off while driving about 65 mph. The contact called the landers chrysler dodge jeep ram of norman dealer (405-321-8228, 481 n interstate dr, norman, ok 73069) where it was stated that the failure was a known issue. The failure was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 52,000. The vin was not provided.

Was driving down the road and the parking break came on and would not release.

I was stopped at a red light, the. Light turned green and all sudden my car my passenger side rim just shattered and pop 4 holes in my tire. The tire was not missing any rubber. Took it to the dealership and they said it is not under warranty when i just the car in nov. I have contacted jeep and the dealership and i get the same thing. Yes my tires and rims are covered under my warranty plan but not lower control arm and ball isn't under warranty unless it was a defect. How can a rim completely exploded from the inside? see photos attached

I have 2018 jeep cherokee with 85353 miles it had service shifter twice when i was driving so i had to pull over on highway and turn off engine and turn on engine shift to park then to drive

My gear shifter lights alllight up and the display on my dash board said service shifterthis happened while driving at 35 mph

I have a little over 13300 miles on my jeep as i went to park my car i noticed the service shifter light was on as well as park, reverse, neutral, and drive were all lit up on the shifter when i looked this up on google there where a number of complains my jeep is still brand new i should not be having this problem! i did not turn it back on to see if it went away i plan on taking it to a dealership first thing in the morning. I also bought it when it only had 5 miles on it no reason at all for this to happen therefore should be a recall!

Service shifter warning light comes on at the dash when driving.all indicator lights on shifter light up. Pulled over and turned car off and back on and it was gone.

Service shifter warning came on dashboard and all gear shift lights were lit red. (prndl).this is second time this has happened in 5 months.2018 jeep cherokee under 14,000 miles!!!got in my vehicle started it and then the warning and lights came on.turned vehicle off for a few minutes and restarted and no more warning!!this shouldn't be happening to a new vehicle and there are many reports of this happening to have it recalled!!

I was driving down the road when my 2018 jeep cherokeesuddenly stalled without warning shutting all systems down. I was stuck in the middle of my lane with know means of moving my vehicle to a safe area.i called triple a and waited 1.5 hours in the middle of the road for a wrecker.apparently my vehicle was low on oil so it shutdown. However i was not due for an oil change and my oil life was at 13%. My vehicle warning lights did not alert me that i was low on oil. I made a complaint to my service person at charlie's in augusta maine several months ago when i took the vehicle in for an oil change at 8000 miles and it was 2 quarts low. They told me it's common for a vehicle to use that much oil between oil changes. They did an oil cconsumption test and said it was normal. Jeep says you can use a quart every 800 miles. That is 7.5 quarts between oil changes in a new vehicle. Unacceptable and not safe for a vehicle to shutdown driving down the road without any warning.consumer stated this is the first timeit has stalled due to low oil pressure. However a few oil changes ago charlies did an oil change and told me my oil levels were low. I thought this unusual and they did an oil consumption test with no findings. At this time they did not tell me there was an oil consumption service bulletin on this vehicle.

Every now and then when i start the vehicle or while i am driving it a message will pop up on my dashboard that says 'service shifter.' the shifter lights flash red and i generally have to pull over and restart the vehicle. Sometimes more than once. The shifter appears to function perfectly fine, so it is puzzling that i get this reoccurring notification every few thousand miles.

I was in drive and sitting at a light, i heard a ding and saw the service shifter warning had come on. When i looked down at the shifter all the gears were lit up red instead of just the gear i was in.

A few minutes after parking my car, neighbors reported an "explosion" and looked outside to see the front of the car engulfed in flamesupdated 11/26/18

The "service shifter" light will turn on. It has happened twice, the first time at less than ten miles per hour in a parking lot and the second time on the interstate going 70 mph. When the service shifter light turns on, it illuminates the prnd lights on the shifter to all red. Since they are all red, you cannot tell if you are in park completely. There is 26,650 miles on the vehicle. It is currently getting serviced, the dealership i bought it from said it only needed flashed with the computer, however the dealership that is closest to my home (and the one who is currently replacing the gear shifter) told me the gear shifter had to be replaced and flashing with the computer would not fix the issue, as this was a frequent issue they have seen. If there is a frequent issue with the shifter in these vehicles, they need to be recalled. This is very dangerous and scary to not have any way of knowing if you are in park, reverse, neutral or drive.

While driving the words "service shifter" appear on the car's console and the letters on the gear shifter (d, n, r) all light up simultaneously and stay lit.

This vehicle consistently is 1 quart low on oil during each oil change, and there is no oil on the dipstick, despite the fact i get my oil changed prior to the recommended mileage, and less than every 3 months. I am using synthetic oil in the car. I have taken it to the original dealership, then an oil change shop twice, and then another dealership to look at the issue. The last dealership advised me they would do an oil consumption test and that i needed to check my oil dipstick frequently as the engine will shut off if the oil gets too low. No indicator light has ever displayed indicating an issue with the low oil or oil pressure. Many times the display shows i have 40% or more oil life left, despite the fact the car will be 1 quart low on oil, with no oil on the dipstick. The car has 26500 miles on it. The first time the issue was noted was when my car did shut off in drive, and i pulled it into an oil change place who advised me there was not enough oil in the engine. The car had just hit the mileage mark to be changed. This occurred in the fall of 2018.

All of a sudden "service shifter" with the shifter lights all illuminated red. I've had nothing but problems with this thing since i bought it. The transmission is spanked.my car will shut off in motion and not start back up when it does this. I have to sit and wait for hours. I called the dealership and they advised there is no recall on this vehincle. I currently have a 2018 this should not be giving me these issues

The jeep comes with the feature of when u come to a stop sign or stop for any time the motor shuts off and resumes when the gas pedal is pressed. My wife vehicle's had a exclamation point light come on so she took it to the dealership and they put it on a computer and found nothing wrong. That's same very night she was driving and suddenly her motor just shuts off al.ost causing a accident.she had to pull off the road and after multiple tries of turning the key on and off it finally restarted

During the course of traveling on june 18th 2019 i received a message via the display that said "service shifter". In addition the gear shift panel (park, reverse, drive) collectively illuminated in red. The issue gave the impression that the transmission or gears could cease from working while in motion.

Service shifter light came on. Which is very unsafe because the car can go into gear now without having to hit the breaks..

2018 cherokee 24,834 miles. Put in reverse while backing out of drive. Service shifter light appeared and all gear light indicators illuminated red.

Under 30,000 miles the vehicle would notify to "service shifter" but would still accelerate/break/stop. This has continued to occur several times after the initial time. The vehicle would have to be turned off and then started back up again in order to get rid of the code. Everytime this has occurred the vehicle has been in motion, at the speed limit.

I was driving around 35 mph when got was slowing down for stop light and it just shut completely off and would not restart. I sat for a minute with hazards on and then tried to start it, it was turning over but not starting so i had to give it gas while trying to start it. Got home and went back out later to test it and started up. It shuts totally down with no warning

Since about 18k miles on vehiclei have been reporting issues with the shifting, transmission. Now that the vehicle is not under warranty they suddenly think they know what will fix it. But i now have to pay almost $800 to get it fixed.

Shifter service warning stating needs services appears while driving on the highway.when service light comes on all the lights on the shifter are lite up red.dealer is not aware of any recall when i turned the engine off the shifter service light goes away however comes back in a few days to a week or so later.has happened at least 4-5 fives now in last 2 months

While driving on the highway, a "service shifter" notice comes up on my sh. All the lights next to each gear light up on my shifter. The notice won't go away unless i turn the car off for at least 5 minutes. It comes back anywhere between immediately and 10 days later. Usually daily. Dealer says they've never heard of it but there are reports all over the internet. Some way the car will eventually stall or you cannot put it in park.

I was driving about 40 mph on a county road and the error noise went off. On the dash i got a 'service shifter' notice and all lights on the shifter stayed lit red ' p, r, n , d, and the - and +'. I pulled over, shut off the car, waited a minute and turned the car back on and it went away.

Service shifter calls out fault

Vehicle was purchased brand new 04/06/2018.within the first month (after putting on 500 miles), the battery had to be replaced.on 06/17/2021, the alternator, battery and sensor had to be replaced at a total cost of $1234. Now, the "service shifter" light is appearing on my console and it cost me $160 just to run diagnostics at the dealership where i purchased the vehicle and i am told that the gear shift module and wiring harness will have to be replaced at a cost of an additional $460.the vehicle has not yet reached 35,000 miles.after doing an on-line search, it seems this is a very common problem with the jeep cherokee models from 2014 - 2018.

Low pressure oil light comes on when turning. Once the car did not start, i had to get it towed, to find out the car was out of oil, though the display read low oil pressure is at 53%.i got an oil change and a little over a month, the light started to come back on.

The service shifter light just came on

Car was sitting still, had not been running (in over 36 hours)l under the carport. We went to get into the car and then noticed, the back glass had busted in the same place (the heater connector) on both sides. The glass busted out wards. Husbands vehicle was right beside this one, and there was no visible signs of vandalizm.

Stalls while driving down road!i pull over restart!

Multiple times while driving 'service shifter' displays on dash. All light of the shifter are lit red. This has happened at low speeds, high speeds and whole idling.

Service shifter alarm, all lights on gear shifter light up. Goes away when vehicle turned off and restarted. Came back on less than a week later.

All lights on shifter console light up red and light which says "service shifter" shows up on dash.reviews of this problem online is showing it to be a common problem.

My jeep keeps illuminating all drive trains and telling me to service shifter. I've had the whole wiring harness replaced a month ago with 10,000 miles and now it is doing it again! i have to kill the engine and turn it back on. Most times service shifter still remains on the screen.

The service shifter light keeps coming on.

Service shifter message coming up, all lights on shifter turning red and car not driving properly. Have to turn the car off and back on several times to make it go away.

Recieved a "service shifter" message and all the lights near the shifter were luminated red

Car caught fire. Manufacturer did not investigate. Dealership where it was towed tampered with evidence

Service shifter notification came across dash and all lights on shifter were lite up red. Thankfully the vehicle was in park, and not in drive. As the 2017s jeep cherokee have the same issue and now recall for service shifter. Somones incident was that came across dash, service shifter and within 10seconds their front wheels locked up and they wrecked on the highway. I dont want this to happen to me !! or anyone with a jeep cherokee.

The shifter has come on twice now and all lights pop up on gear shift. This is about the 4th tome in 1 -1/2 yrs in motion.

"service shifter" light pops up on screen and the p,r,n,d all light up at once while driving.

Service shifter lite up as well as all gears. I was currently in park when it happened. Read several jeep owner inquires upon googling the issue.doesn't sound good!

My jeep kept giving the service shifter but when i called the dodge house in odessa texas they told me there was no recall for it. So i had to pay for the repair but still took almost 3weeks just for them to get the part because they where in back order

While driving the service shifter light came on. I pulled over and shut the vehicle off. When i started my vehicle the notice was gone but returned several days later. When i google what a service shifter was i saw alot of complaints by other jeep owners. I thought i should add my complaint to the list. I have had my vehicle for a little over a year. I should not be having this issue.

The car vibrates excessively when the sunroof is open. Once you also open the windows, the vibration subsides but never goes completely away

While driving on a city street or highway when my vehicle comes to a stop it stalls or while driving at low speed. Upon checking the oil it was discovered that there was not even a quart leftno indicator light no oil change notification; i hadn't yet reached the months or mileage on the sticker recommend by the mechanic shop where i get my oil changed,

"service shifter" lights up.

When driving a shifter service light comes on. All on the red light indicators come on by shifter.

Vehicle has approximately 40,000 miles and the "service shifter" light has come on about 6 times. Each time, if the vehicle is turned off & restarted, the light doesn't come back on for a few weeks. It has never come on while driving. This condition has not been replicated by a dealer or mechanic. The vehicle seems to drive fine.

I had a problem with service shifter

Service shifter message appeared while driving today and gear shift lights are all red p, r, n, d. The service shifter message would not disappear blocking the speedometer reading.

I have a 2018 jeep cherokee latitude with 36,000 miles on it. I cranked it up and noticed the service shifter light on and all the lights beside my shifter actually lit up! the service shifter light had my dash locked at that and wouldn't go off til i turned my jeep off and cranked it back up. This has happened several different times! i have my jeep at the dealership now and they are trying to charge me to have it fixed. This should be under warranty or a recall should be in place. Several people have had this happen according to the internet!i pay a lot of money for this jeep and i'm not happy at all!please please fix this!

I've have my 2018 jeep cherokee since november 1,2017 and in early 2019 a 'service shifter' message showed up on the dashboard. I turned the engine off and waited 30 seconds and turned it back on and it showed up again so i took it to the dealership closed to my house they fixed it. After i got it fixed the same message has showed up 6-8 more times and i repeated the same process where i turn the engine off and on again and the message goes away but then a few weeks later it shows up again. Also it will show up sometimes when i'm driving on the highway or even just driving down the street.

At 33050 service shifter warning came up all lighs on the shifter were on.turned car off sat a moment and the service shifter warning was gone.we were on a city street put the jeep in reverse when this happened vehicle was stationary being put int reverse

Started vehicle and all lights on the shifter panel came on and a warning of "service shifter" came on the dash. This happens multiple times per week and after two attempts at getting this fixed, the dealership has no clue. It is now impossible to shift when this happens.

Purchased my 2018 cherokee in feb 2018 and in october 2019 had vibration in steering wheel. Dealer said i had 4 warpped rotors that needed to be replaced at my expense. It seemed odd at only 18 months of normal driving, mostly highway.

Vehicle will stall dealership claimsbattery is not charging computer check shows multiple low voltage codes

Stationary battery not starting after sitting up a day or two

I backed out of my garage into the driveway and stopped the car to bring in the recycling bin. I shifted into what i thought was park, released the break, and exited the car. After i had exited, the car began to move forward toward the open garage. I attempted to jump back into the car in order to stop it and sustained a serious hand injury as the jeep's door slammed into the side of the garage and closed back upon me. Similar runaway car events have occurred to me in this car (with less dramatic consequences) twice prior, but never in 25 years before i purchased this 2018 grand cherokee. Some 2018 jeeps have been recalled for faulty park lock rods, so my concern is that the events i experienced have been due to the inability to achieve park. Even if i erroneously put the car in drive, it should typically have started to move forward as soon as i released the break, alerting me that the car was in gear. Instead, nothing happened for 3 seconds - this provided a false sense of security that the car was in park and worse, gave me enough opportunity to exit. This delay can be reproduced when transitioning from reverse to drive. Lastly, when the door in the grand cherokee is opened while the car is in gear, it simply beeps once - a very minimal and inadequate alert system.

10 sep 2020 at 0745 my jeep cherokee with 34,000 miles had a dash message saying "service shifter" and all the lights on the shifter emitted red. After turning car off and back on there was no message or anything.

At 26,000 miles on my 2018 jeep cherokee trailhawk, the service shifter light came on.

7/12/19 - while driving on the interstate, my jeep signaled a warning noise - with no digitized warning and the d lights were illuminated on my gear shift - this disabled my vehicle. I had to pull to the side of the road - turned off the vehicle - turned it back on and continued driving.8/06/19 - i started my vehicle to leave for work and the service shifter warning came on my display and all of my gear shift lights (prnd) were illuminated. I purchased this vehicle 3/2018 brand new - it has under 23k miles.

I have had it happen multiple times, with no solution. My screen on the dashboard would have a message come across it saying "service shifter" with all the prnd-+ lights come on. It happens when i'm either driving or parked.

While vehicle was in motion a 'service shifter' light eliminated and all of the gear lights were on while the car was in drive. Once i stopped the car, parked, and turned the engine off, i waited a few minutes and restarted the car, the lights were gone. This is the second time in one week this has happened.

I am consistently getting a service shifter light on my 2018 jeep cherokee. It has 30000 miles on it. I shut the car off and it goes off. I have seen another of other complaints on online forums about this same issue.

Service shifter light came on and all the lights on shifter came on and won't go off.p r n d, etc. Was driving down interstate, took exit and when i was coming to stop at stop sign a warning beep sounded and lights came on shifter and dash saying service shifter. Cannot find anything about servicing a shifter.

"service shifter" appeared on my dashboard. The gears all went red. The car was able to move as normal, but the message was still there. I turned the car off and restarted and the message went away.

Service shifter warning comes on but can't be fixed

The automobile shuts off (while in motion) when it's time for an oil change (around 3000 miles). It mostly shuts off during turns but it has shut off on the highway before. The oil light never comes on, the battery light does although there isn't an issue with the battery. After waiting a few minutes, it's possible to start the automoblie again without the assistance of a boost.

I continue to get a service shifter issue. Vehicle has 13,000 miles on it. This is a known problem across multiple years of cherokees. Dealership said it was a battery problem but after a new battery, i still receive the warning. Warning came on while parked, just after startup.

Transmission lurches when taking off from a stop also when coming to a stop and sometimes going into reverse.it's a hard lurch so stopping for pedestrians has to happen early as i'm concerned the car could hit someone. This happens frequently.

My jeep does not stay locked. I can lock the car, but if someone tries to open it, they are able to without a problem, even when the fob is nowhere near the car. All that happens is the theft alarm triggers. My car was opened by someone in a parking garage at work even though myself and the fob were not near the vehicle. The alarm went off but the person was able to open my door with no problem,

Keeps throwing code service shifter

Vehicle shuts down for no apparent reason, gas pedal does not work, brake does ... Definitely a safety issue

I have 2018 jeep cherokee with 85353 miles it had service shifter twice when i was driving so i had to pull over on highway and turn off engine and turn on engine shift to park then to drive

Going 65 in the highway in the middle lane, the park assist suddenly kicked in without warning and shifted the vehicle into neutral. After drifting to the shoulder, the car would not engage into drive again. The car is less than a month old.

This complaint is not specific to my current vehicle. The head rests in all newer vehicles are making those of us who are not overweight and have good posture sit in an awkward position with our heads pushed forward.this is very uncomfortable and we can't turn the head rests around because then the safety measures don't work.please stop making the head rests lean forward.

All the lights on the gear box turn on and says "service shifter". Happened once a month and is becoming more and more frequent.

The "service shifter" message appeared in the display on 27 july 2021. I contacted the dealership to schedule an appointment. My appointment was 2 august 2021. My factory warranty expired in july 2021. The service advisor stated that the repairs would not be covered under the factory warranty if it was still active. The wire harness and the bevel had to be replaced. I contacted chrysler via email to inquire as to why this repair is not covered by the manufacturer. They replied "thank you for contacting jeep customer care.i am sorry to learn that you had concerns with your shifter and i do understand your frustration. Unfortunately, this is not an open recall on your vehicle at this time. If it does become an open recall in the future, you are able to submit for reimbursement review. At this time due to the warranty expiring, and it not being an open recall we are unable to assist you with the costs. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need any further assistance by calling us at 877-426-5337." there has been numerous complaints about this issue and the manufacturer has done nothing to resolve this problem. Like most jeep owners with the same issue, we have to pay for the repairs which is about $600.00. This is a safety issue that should not be ignored. The vehicle could shift into park while drivingwhich, according the other jeep owners, has happened or the engine will shut off. I think the manufacturer should notify all jeep owners of this problem and issue a recall or technical bulletin to address this issue.

Vehicle stopping and shutting off completely while driving(in motion)each and every time on four different occasions. First time it shut off, dealership said it was due to oil change.secondtime dealership said a recall on the shift gear in which i wasn't notified about the recall. Third time it shut off, dealership says its an oil leakage. Fourth time it stopped, dealership says it needs a new engine. Chrysler refuses to fix it. The last time i took it to the dealership, chrysler response was take it home and drive it again and bring it back if it shuts off and maybe then we will fix it. I had to have it towed in the last time due to it not starting and smoking in the tail pipe. On two occasions, the radio cut off completely, screen just went black. My car is now at the dealership waiting on approval from chrysler to get fixed. This jeep is very unsafe, dangerous, and a safety hazard for my son and i. It has put me and my sons life in danger on four different occasions. I am terrified to drive this vehicle even if they can fix it because its not a guarantee that i will not have these issues again and next time it could cost us our lives.

I have a 2018 jeep cherokee and a couple of times the shift service light comes on and prnd all light up...looked it up on long and a lot of jeeps have this problem...that's why i bought a new car so i would be safe and now i'm scared that i will wreck if it goes out...when this happened you have to put it in gear and cut your car off...but what if it does it while i'm driving

All the engine oil leaked out of the car and started to smoke while i was in motion and the engine light came on but was perfectly fine at first. I do not know what had happened but my engine is now messing up and i almost got in a car accident.

My car only has 41,000 miles and recently just purchased it 2 months ago and it started saying 'service shifter' and the shifts all light up red. After doing some research online, a lot of jeep owners experience this issue with jeeps. An issue that never seems to go away regardless of taking it to a shop

Panoramic sunroof exploded outward - at 5:15 am, i was just starting to get on the on ramp to the freeway.i was not up to freeway speed yet.weather conditions were good and approx. 61 degrees. As i was driving on the onramp i heard a loud explosionthat freaked me out so bad i was thankful i did not crash.i pulled to the side of the roadall tires were fine.all surrounding windows were fine.i had the sunroof barrier closed so i didn't even think about the sunroof until i heard chards of glass beads on the barrier.i pulled to the side of the freeway in the dark and gradually opened up the barrier to the sun roof a little.i could see that almost the entire pane of the back part of the panoramic sunroof had shattered making a huge gaping hole.i turned the car around and went home.if it was a rock or something was dropped on it the rock still would have been there on the barrier.the sunroof literally bows upward and it cracked at the seams so you can see it has definitely blown out.this is a manufacturer defect that could have caused an accident or worse if the barrier had been open and the glass had shattered on me.it is obviously made of safety glass.the explosion was very loud and ear piercing.

Service shifter light, r,p,n,d, all lights turn red. Happened months ago at 36,300 miles, didn't happen for a month then came back. Now comes on every couple weeks, sometimes multiple times in a row. Turn car off and back on the lights go off.happens at intial start up and while driving.

While engaged in cruise control at 63mph, going up a hill, upon desending hill car unexpectedly starts to down shift and accelerate to 70+ before i disengage cruise control through brake pedal usage. This has happened repeatedly while desending hills in a mountain terrian area, does not repeat while driving on flat roads.

Since about 18k miles on vehiclei have been reporting issues with the shifting, transmission. Now that the vehicle is not under warranty they suddenly think they know what will fix it. But i now have to pay almost $800 to get it fixed.

Service shifter light on and air bag light on

As driving vehicle shuts down loose all control. Message pops up that says. Apply brake and put in park or neutral.engine shuts down. In motion on highway. Very dangerous.

I got on i-95 from the lantana exit heading west and i noticed that the dashboardspeedometer accelerated to 119 mile per hour but the vehicle itself was not moving at that speed. I exited two exit's later onto gateway blvd and the dashboard speedometer was still showing that i was going at adangerous speed than i was actually going. I called schumacher delray where i now lease the vehicle from and i was given an appointment for friday 4/27/2018. I also emailed the manager ken cadmens and executive director sal delgreco and i am still awaiting a response. I obtained this vehicle approximately one month ago where i gave back a 2016 jeep patriot which had dangerous wheel bearing issues that caused the tires to wear as though they were 10 years old. About (3)three weeks after, leasing this new 2018 jeep cherokee on march 14, 2018, i was informed through credit karma that my 2018 jeep cherokee may (not for certain) have dangerous safety issues that can cause a crash and fatality and that i should get it checked out. I contacted the same two above individuals previously mentioned immediately by email to inquire about this credit karma report regarding the vehicle safety. However, to date april 24, 2018 they nor anyone else has gotten back to me. Fast forward to today, i am now beginning to have this serious problem of an excessive speed reading of the vehicle speedometer showing on the dashboard. I can only hope and pray that the vehicle does not accelerate it self to the actual excessive speeds that it is showing on the dashboard.

The light turned green at an intersection. The vehicle was in drive, i pressed the gas and the vehicle would not respond.when it did respond the vehicle jerked into gear and rpm's rose quickly.

Cruise control keeps coming on and off. 2.4ml engine stalls a lot hard to stop car with cruise control on and it's goes in and out on its own

Service shifter light came on..2 days later car turned off while in driving saying change gear but i was currently in the correct gear . Very dangerous i was dropping my son off too school and car stoped in the middle of traffic

Going 65 in the highway in the middle lane, the park assist suddenly kicked in without warning and shifted the vehicle into neutral. After drifting to the shoulder, the car would not engage into drive again. The car is less than a month old.

Rear brakes were vibrating upon firm braking pressure at speed of 55-60. Dealer replaced rear rotors upon verifying vibration. "new rear rotors" had same vibrations and are now rusting at areas other then brake surfaces. Please see photos
