Vic display show "coolant sensor bad." online investigations reveal many owners have experienced the same problem over the years. Their trial solutions have ranged from replacing the "coolant temperature sensor," the coolant level sensor," replacing "connecting wiring" to the vic, and to removing the vic to repair solder joints and cracks at the circuit board that is located in the vic. Most report that the first three attempted remedies did not resolve the defect.some report success in re-soldering joints on the circuit board. The latter,--removing the vic and repairs at the circuit board-- is an involved process and requires extensive knowledge and repair tools and equipment. All report that this condition left unresolved could lead to the engine overheatingand/or faulty data sent to the fuel injection system, and possible engine fire.with so many complaints on this defect, a recall or a manufacture repair bulletins, shouldbe issued at the manufacturer's expense.

While drivingentire electrical system went out.fuses were checked and replaced to repair.the next day the entire instrument panel went out other than the cruise control.the defect does not allow the consumer to have access to see speedometer and other important parts.

The gauges on the instrument panel started bouncing back and forth, the check engine light came on. I had the code read and it said the coolant temp sensor was bad, changed that still says that sensor is bad. I cannot pass emissions and inspection to get licensed.

Car stalls ,shuts off while driving, hard to start. Instrument panels lights will not work. Dome lights will not work. Had to take fuse out to extinguished dome lights, otherwise stay on all the time .gas gage shows that more gas in tank than really is.

1997 jeep grand cherokee laredo 4.0l i6 began stalling in 2010 under seemingly random conditions. Replaced several parts (spark plugs, wires, distributor cap & rotor, ignition coil, pcm) over the past four years to no avail. The difference currently is that the stall now only seems to occur at temperatures less than 65-70 degrees f. The colder the environment, the worse stall probability. Colder temps also increase probability vehicle will not start after a stall. Vehicle will always fire up on a cold start. Stall occurs at varying speeds (including at idle), but above approximately 40 mph stall becomes what seems like a misfire. Believe i have narrowed the problem down to an intermittent connection in the wiring harness, either at the gray pcm connector (closest to body), or in the wire leading to this connector. Putting enough pressure on the wires under the pcm in a certain direction will cause the vehicle to hiccup or stall. Only code ever shown related to stall was the unspecific p0351 ignition system code. Fortunately, if a stall occurs at higher speeds, engine/vehicle speed must still drop to a certain level before power steering/braking are lost. Otherwise vehicle would be too dangerous to drive. Nevertheless this is still a hazardous condition.

The vehicle stalls unexpectedly when slowing down or coming to a stop. The check engine light is on, however; the code that comes up is for the ignition which was already repaired and not the issue causing at hand. This malfunction is freakishly common when i look it up online for this make, model, and year. This problem is very dangerous as it may or can cause death or serious injury if in intersection or busy road/highway. Please notify me of any solutions or information on this matter. We have also changed spark plugs as well as wires & coil.

Stalling while driving. No code = onboard computer bad?, no accident yet!! when it stalls i have a hard time to start the jeep ... It happened 2 times ... Once while driving, the other was at a stoplight ........already have a recall 10583287 for a trailer hitch to make the gas tank safer and still waiting...no accident yet!!

Headlights while driving were occasionally turning off and on. Side lights remained on and instrument panel lights remained on. Upon investigation for cause, discovered connector on headlight/dimmer switch was melted due to excessive heat buildup. Suspect due to several connectors on dimmer switch were loose adding resistance to the flow of current creating excessive heat in switch and connector. Switch was replaced and problem was resolved. Since the switch provides power directly to the headlights, this creates a potential fire hazard. There should be a relay configuration to the headlights to reduce current flow through the headlight switch.

Complete lost of power in electrical system

Alternator failed.

Ignition key failed.

Engine stops without command at speeds up to 65 mph.diagnostics revealed an apparent loss of ignition run to engine's computer.

Starter failed.

Wire harness has burnmarks due to excessive heat from the engine. Dealer notified.

While driving down the road smoke was coming out of defroster.stopped vehicle, thencar caught on fire.contacted manufacturer.

While driving the vehiclewill stall unexpectedly due to a faulty wiringharness which caused the fuse to blow out.dealer replaced and repaired the wiring harness 3 times. Please provide further information.

While drivingentire electrical system went out.fuses were checked and replaced to repair.the next day the entire instrument panel went out other than the cruise control.the defect does not allow the consumer to have access to see speedometer and other important parts.

My guess is the water build up from the a/c evaporator is causing some kind of short to the left turn signal, horn, and radio

Initial fuel tank assembly failure 5/98 occurred at freeway speeds on highway overpass 680/24 walnut creek, ca.vehicle ran out of gas even though gauge indicated fuel level above 1/8 tank.created hazardous traffic backup for several miles on southbound interstate 680 requiring police assistance.subsequent problems with replacement fuel tank assemblies 3/29/99 and 8/30/99, currently unresolved.transmission failure affected drivability requiring replacement 8/30/99.began experiencing dangerous engine and electrical problems, including abrupt check engine light preceding engine bucking, severe engine surging, followed by loss of power, near stall at 35 mph, radio and power window failure 8/23/99, creating hazardous situation for vehicle occupants and other drivers on road. The fuel assembly fuse failure on 11/1/99 occurred at freeway speed in rush hour traffic on eastbound highway 4 in martinez near pacheco blvd. Off-ramp with absolutely no warning.loss of engine, power steering, power brakes at this speed and traffic conditions created potential for fatal collision involving multiple vehicles. Vehicle at lehmer's dealership from 11/1/99-11/5/99.dealership failed to duplicate, locate, or repair failure.vehicle released on 11/5/99.the second fuel system fuse failure occurred without warning on 11/6/99, on westbound ygnacio valley, a secondary 4 lane road at 45 mph speed, again creating a potentially hazardous situation. Police called to prevent possible collisions while waiting for tow.due to these recurring and unresolved service problems we have lost all faith in the safety of this vehicle.we refuse to put our family or other drivers at risk and wish to file aformal complaint with the nhtsa and to pursue resolution of this matter under the lemon law.we purchased this vehicle in good faith, but cannot in good conscience sell it or trade it in due to the potential for loss of life in its current condition.

While drivingentire electrical system went out.fuses were checked and replaced to repair.the next day the entire instrument panel went out other than the cruise control.the defect does not allow the consumer to have access to see speedometer and other important parts.

Improper reading of fuel gauge due to faulty circut chip board for fuel control, rendering vehicle inoperative.

Car will not start anymore, it used to turn off at lights, or stop signs. Now it just wont turn on at all. I see a lot of complaints about this same issue. What can be done without costing me a fortune.

Vehicle has hard starts and frequent hesitation and stalling, at all speeds city street driving as well as highway driving.i have had a new distributor cap, rotor, plugs, wires, coil, installed, yet symptoms persist.sudden deceleration at highway speeds is a seriously dangerous condition.my research suggests this is a common problem with the jeep cherokee xj.i narrowly escaped a crash on a busy interstate highway this morning at freeway speeds.jeep ought to be aware of this problem, yet there seems to be no remedy for owners.i would at least like to know what the problem is.possible remedies (from my research) include multiple parts and many hours of labor:o2 sensor, throttle position sensor, crankshaft position sensor, plugs, wires, cap, rotor, fuel pressure regulator, engine control module, alternator, neutral safety switch, ballast resistor, transmission control module, torque convertor, power control module, transmission control solenoid, etc.what is causing all of these vehicles to stall dangerously?

I have a 1997 jeep with 150,000 miles on it and i am having a lot of issues with it stalling out for no reason. It's been doing this for over a year. It started all of a sudden out of the blue. I have taken it to the repair shop over 20 times to try and get the problem resolved and they are not able to find the problem. They have even kept it over night and had it on machines to figure out why it stalls and am not able to figure it out. I have replace sensors, fuel filter, battery, not to mention so many other parts and nothing is stopping it from stalling out for no reason. I have spent so much money and i love my jeep but i am real nervous to drive it that i might go to turn and the jeep will stall while turning a corner and get t-boned by oncoming traffic. Or driving on the highway and all of a sudden it will sputter and stall out. I have read that "many" jeeps are having the same issue, can someone please from the safety car site look into this as there will be a family in this type of vehicle driving and the problem could occure and cause a diaster in someones life. I have driven in differant ares on the road, highway, residential areas, going the speed limit, and also going 15 miles an hour and it wil stall out. I have again seen so many posting regarding this issue so there has got to be some kind of a manufacturing problem with these jeeps ...please, please look into this.

Radiator & various ac parts needed replacement.steering gave out in 2002.a screw went through an engine part.recently, a joint connecting the axel to the steering mechanism had to be replaced.fuel pump failed. Incredibly, it is inside the gas tank. I have since learned that jeep gas tanks corrode on the inside, thus clogging the fuel pump.this is a very expensive repair because of the labor.there is still the possibility that this new fuel pump may also fail, because the gas tank was not replaced and the problem still exists. I\\\\\\'ve heard numerous similar complaints regarding the fuel system from other jeep owners.there should have been a recall.

I own a 1997 jeep grand cherokee 4.0 l6 two wheel drive with 165,000 miles.i was driving down the highway at 65 and the engine died.thankfully i was on an empty highway and was able to drive into the emergency lane. This happened four times since.i still had power but the engine would not respond. I took it to the dealer who could not find the problem.i have since heard of this happening to many 1990's jeeps, with no real known cause or cure.i changed the oil, spark plugs and cleaned the fuel lines.i will attempt to replace the pcm. This is a very dangerous instance and i am frustrated that none of the mechanics that i have been to, even dealers, could find the problem, and just allowed me to continue down the road.if a cure for this problem is found i would like to be contacted.

Went out to go somewhere and it had a hard time starting. As i began to drive down the road my jeep started to backfire, all of a sudden it cut off and the steering wheel locked up and the lights went out it was dark so i could of been injured. When i got it to crank back my abs light has been on ever since and we have bought about 5 hundred dollars in parts and tried everything we know to do even the mechanics we have asked about it have no answers for us, we can't afford to buy another vehicle and no one wants to buy it from us because of all of the problems we have had with our jeep!

It has happened to a number of people with the 4.0l engine & chrysler knows about this & has come up w/ a fix concerning this problem. This is a very dangerious condition & it should be addressed this way. Chrysler is refusing to pay for this repair saying it is not covered under the extended warranty. The only reason this failure is accurring is because the bolts are probably being over torqued or of poor grade. Please help because i'm not alone with this problem.

After returning from the grocery store, i parked the car in the driveway.30 minutes later, i looked out the window to see black smoke coming out of the hood and the top of the hood was black & blistered.we dialed 911 to report this and the city of northampton, ma sent the fire department and police department.when the fire department arrived they were unable to open the hood release because it had been melted by the heat.they forcibly opened the hood and hosed down the engine compartment until it had cooled to a safe point.they filed a report and the police also filed a report.the car was towed to a local chrylser dealer that same day.on monday, july 22, 2002 i notified my insurance company met life.they sent an appraiser that week who stated that the engine fire was caused by debris entering the intake manifold.i notified chrysler manufacturing company at their consumer complaint number at 9am monday july 22nd that there had been an engine fire in my 1997 jeep cherokee sport.i also received information that daimlerchrysler is recalling over a million sport utility vehicles from 1999 to 2002 because of a manifold problem that could cause an engine fire.many of these cars were jeep cherokee models.it has been described to me by the mechanic and insurance appraiser that this is why my car had an engine fire. Today i am filing this complaint, july 29, 2002.chrysler corporation has not returned my calls or gone to see the car and review the cause of the engine fire.i am not able to determine if my car can be safely repaired and avoid a recurrence of the same problem.i would appreciate it if you can investigate my complaint and review the cause of the engine fire in my vehicle to determine if it should also be subject to the recall.can it be repaired so that the engine fire does not recur due to problems with the engine design.

We brought the vehicle to lehighton motors in lehighton, pa and they were not able to detect the problm so we were fitted with a black box and were told to drive around and activate the black box when the problem happened.this was a dangerous situation for us.they changed both o2 sensors.the problem persisted, and they decided that the fuel tank sensor package needed replacement.all this cost bout $800.00 for parts that were in a car with 35,000 miles, and it put us in seriously dangerous circumstances. We contcted daimler/chrysler for relief, but to no avail.please investigate this situation.

First , this car was bought brand new with my ex-husband, nicolas jonville.we bought the car in october, 1997, from a jeep dealer in des plaines, illinois.it was a sales done through international autosource.we then brought the car out to california. Since june, 2000, this car has expeienced o2 sensor problems, exhaust manifold crack, spring defective attached to right front shock, and fuel tank accuracy problem.i have a threeyear old child and drive this car just to take her to pre-sechool and shopping.i work out of the home.i believe the problems i have experienced in one years time are abundant.i don't drive daily into los angeles or san diego, california.i drive barely 20 miles a day.i do believe these problems do cause safetly problems for my daughter and myself.i have fears of stalling due to fuel problems.i have fears of hitting something that affect the spring on the highway and getting in a bad accident. I now have fears of driving the car long distances since the exhaust manifold crack caused me to eat too much gas.the car is only over three years old.i want some answers and will sending this information further with certified documentations of my letters, my reviews of mechanic views and the dealers documentation.the dealer has been non-supportive of fixing any of my problems without paying a high price when i believe these are manufacturer problesms.

Electrical instrument panel not working.yh

While driving at 65 mph there was a loud noise coming from the rear end. Also, water pump/rear windshield wiper/heater fanandsterowere notworking.

My guess is the water build up from the a/c evaporator is causing some kind of short to the left turn signal, horn, and radio

Cd player failed.

Fuel gauge reads incorrectly.the gauge light comes on and off when the fuel level is anywhere below 1/2 tank.not sure how much gas is in the vehicle unless it is topped off. There was a recall 97v194000 for the fuel sending units, however this vehicle was not included due to vin.

Fuel-sending unit will read that consumer has gas, however the vehicle does not really have any, and will run out of gas while driving. Dealer notified.

Recall # 97v194002 chrysler fuel level sendng unit. Ownercontinues to experience a problem with running out of fuel after having the unit replaced under recall.

My vehicle ran out of gas in traffic while the gage still showed over 1/8th of a tank of fuel.i almost was run over by traffic when i got out of my car when it stopped with no warning.nhtsa has a recall on file for this exact problem but the dealer and manufacturer says it does not apply to my vehicle. Engine dies when making a turn with a 1/4 tank of gas or less. Engine will run as long as you drive without making any sharp turns. Have not run out of gas even when the gauge shows empty as long as you drive straight. Contacted dealer to check for any recalls( spirit chrysler and jeep). The response was , a recall on defective fuel gauge only and would not cover my problem. Also the service person told me this is very common problem and it is a weak fuel pump and it would cost $495.00 to replace.he also advised that most ownersnever let their gauge go below 1/2 because of this problem .i don't believe a weak fuel pump would cause this. It sounds like the fuel pickup is losing prime because of the lack of baffles in the tank to keep the fuel from moving. This sounds like it could be a very serious problem.i purchased this vehicle from my daughter and she advised me that this has been a problem for the last 30000 miles. Been.

In february of 1998 we received a letter dated february 19, 1998. The letter described a possibility of an inaccurate fuel guage due to a fuel level sending unit. We called the dealer and were told to wait for notification from the factory. Notification never came. We checked on other occasions by phone or when the vehicle was in for service. We were told nothing. On two occasions, one recently our vehicle had to be towed for a no start condition. When the vehicle was examined it was found to be out of fuel (on both occasions). We took the vehicle in to have the problem rectified and was told our vehicle was not involved in the recall (nhtsa campaign # (97v194000). We contacted chrysler and were told in so many words "sorry we can not help". I find it difficult to understand how we received the letter in the first place, and secondly why the vehicle would be doing exactly what the letter and from what i understand the recall bulletin says it will do.

Fuel tank will register a half of tank and light up likethere was no gasoline inside ofvehicle.dealershipwas aware of problem.

Been.

Had called dealership after receiving recallnotice #97v194002, fuel sending unit.dealership had no parts, and did not know when they would be available. Would contact owner when parts come in.also, gas gauge malfunctioned, caused vehicle to run out of gas twice.

The vehicles gas guage is inacurate and shows more fuel than actually in tank. There has been other recalls for the fuel sending unit for this vehicle, however chrysler says my manufacture datedon' t fall in the recalls time frame.

Consumer took vehicle for recall no. 97v194002, concerning the gas gauge sending unit. Dealer corrected problem, but it returned.

That the gas gauge indicator inaccurately reads the amount of fuel in tank, causing the vehicle to cut off.

Gas gauge malfunctioned; failed to indicate that vehicle had less than a quarter tank of gas was empty of gas while the gas gauge indicated that there was enoughgas, causingvehicle to stall.

Fuel gauge failed, allowing vehicle to run out of gas.

When traveling 60 mph on the highway upon and attempting to accelerate consumer noticed vehicle started decelerating due to gas gauge indicator which showedmore fuel than actually present. Consumer contacted the dealer. Dealer replaced parts.

My 1997 jeep cherokee gas guage is not working properly.when it gets to a quarter of a tank your really on empty.i see that there has been 3 recalls for this problem, however according to my chrysler dealer my vehicle is not included in any of these recalls.

Recall 97v194000. This vehicle not included.fuel tank mounted fuel level sending unit accuracy can degrade over time, indicating significantly more fuel in reserve than actually is present.

Fuel level tank sensor (sender) unit failed resulting in gauge failure.

Fuel sending unit failed, recall work performed however continues to fail after two replacements.

The fuel gauge reads out false signal if the vehicle has a half of tank or 3/4 of tank, while turning leftvehicle will lose power.

Vehicle would run out of gasoline while gas gauge indicated a significant amount of fuel in tank.dealership has not examinedvehicle.informedconsumer that this vehicle wasincluded in recall campaign 97v194002 due to vin. Please provide any additional informatioin / documentation.

Fuel gauge reads incorrectly. The consumer is concerned vehicle will shut off while driving because of inaccuracy. A recall 97v194000 was issued for the fuel sending units, however this vehicle was not included due to vin.

Fuel level sending unit failure.

Fuel tank sending unit failed prior to recall notice.

The jeep shut down on the hwy, wouldn't start had get a tow. Spent over 500 dollars on repairs and tow ,four days later it did the exact same thing. Lucky i was home is time .waited two day'swent outside and it started with no problem .im not driving it anymore its to much trouble.

I went to a local dealer ship becausei had looked up on this site my recalls one was brakes they did happily and would call me when the parts came in for the fuel it has been over a year and it's a 1997 how can they not get the parts to fix it yet i ran out of gas a total of 4 times on busy highways and on my way to work what else is going to happen to me when i need my car the most

In response to the latest on the recall of jeep grand cherokees and jeep liberties, i respectfully request a full review of the 1993 - 2001 jeep cherokees rear impact safety. In nhtsa's initial request to chrysler, this group of cherokees was included as a subject vehicle, noting you had only received 15 voq's and only (1) was for a cherokee, one is too many. Nhtsa also stated that "assessment of available data for the cherokee did not establish an unreasonable risk." was the available data at the time acceptable? or have you subjected the owners of these vehicles to a life of fear driving vehicle not properly tested. Why was there no rear end impact testing of the cars when they initially came on the market?the location of the gas tank is in exactly the same position as the grand cherokee and the gas tank is also "plastic".my grandchildren ride in the back seat of a 1997 cherokee and if it was to get rear-ended and caught on fire, how long do you think it would take their parents to get them out of their restraints? did you test that? as a family we do not feel safe and the government has done nothing to reassure us either. Why is it up to the public to file complaints? have you not thought that individuals driving these cars are just barely getting by, maybe not knowing that fires from rear impacts are not automatically reported?please, investigate further, i do not want to lose my grandchildren!kindly, [xxx]- grandmainformation redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

Have taken vehicle in for brake repairs on three different occassions - twice while in warranty and once after warranty - rotors were finally replaced on last visit after complaining persistantly and speaking with the gm at dealership. The problem is occuring again and is worse than ever. When brakes are applied the vehicle vibrates and brake pedal pulsates and try's to vear of course to the left or right. It is more pronounced at highway speeds. Heavy pressure must be applied to get the vehicle to stop and there is a narrow window of when it's just enough pressure to stop normally and when the brakes want to grab to quickly..

Was traveling 35-45mph. Coming to a stop. Applied brakes. Felt brakes pulsating under foot. Vehicle kept moving. Going down hill & pushed harder on brakes. Vehicle still was going. Had to use emergency brakes to stop vehicle. Took vehicle to dealer to have it checked.

The anti-lock brake system was inoperative.

While applying the brakes, the pedal went to the floor.the vehicle continued to accelerate with speed.the driver noticed that the abslight appeared on the dash board and remained on.the consumer was able to driveto the dealer for inspection.the mechanic informed the driver that the absunit modular needed replacement due to a faulty solenoid switch.please fill in additional information.

When driving at high speed and applyingbrakes, there is alot of vibration within the vehicle.on last inspection all four rotors were warped and the rear brake pads fell apart upon removal.

After vehicle is parked in rainy weather, the brakes are extremely "grabby".during a moderate effort stop, the brakes locked and vehicle went into a skid (locked tires).this has been a problem since new.had dealer look at this problem while under warranty and they found nothing wrong.brakes become less grabby if brakes are applied momentarily while driving (throttle and brake applied at same time) for 5 to 10 seconds.this leads me to believe that there is a corrosion build up that is worn away after brakes are applied several times.a panic stop under grabby conditions would almost certainly result in an accident!

While driving in wet conditions the consumer lost braking power, causing vehicle to hit another vehicle.air bag did not deploy. Please provide further details.

In less than 36,000 miles the vehicle was returned (4) times for warpage of front brake rotors.rotors replaced completely (1) time.dealer claimed that this was normal.i contacted (2) independent brake specialists and each indicated excessive heat was causing premature warpage.they suggested it be returned to the dealer for corrective action.i stopped a car wash to hand washthe vehicle and upon spraying the front wheels notice steam coming off the wheel.this indicates substantial over excessive heat.the dealer claimed this was normal and turning of rotors and replacing pads (non warranty) was the only answer.in my opinion this only corrects the symptoms and does not correct the problem.cheap, inferior componentry is my opinion.i shall not by another jeep or chrysler product.

Brake pads worn and needed replacement.

Consumer contacted dealer in reference to recall 00v136000/ manufacturer's recall879. Consumer believed dealer did not replacerotors.the caliper was loose and appeared to be just sitting on the tire when the consumer was examining the vehicle for rubbing noise.the rim was also stuck to the rotor and removing the tire was extremely hard.from these observations, the consumer concluded that the dealer had not done the recall job on brake rotors.

Vibrating of front end, front rotors and rear drums replaced at 11k miles for being warped. Vibrating began again at around 21k miles. Suspected front rotor warped again.vibration so bad at high speeds that it almost shakes steering wheel out of hand.plan to contact dealer, but doubt dealer will correct without cost due to manufacturer's warranty on brakes is only for 12k.look at your list of complaints. This appears to be reoccurring problem.

Rotors have warped twice.dealers say is wear item.something is causing the excess heat to cause warpage at such low miles.

Rotors have warped 4 times in 48,000 miles with regular driving.warped rotors cause severe shaking in front end and difficulty in handling.dealership/manufacurer have replaced three times but have not acknowledged a problem with the part or that something else may be causing the warping.dealership blames in-town driving for the problem.

Warped disc rotors, causing severe pulsation when braking above 40 mph.

There seem to be a lot of complaints on the rotors warping and yet there is no recall. 3rd time replacing them, dealer says it must be us.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing. The tires were replaced and the front end was aligned, but the failure recurred. Six days after fuel gauge repair the strap holding the tank broke allowing tank to dangle.brake failure and steering malfunction.

Whenever i attempted to make a left or right turn there is popping noise.also, sometines when i make a sharp turn to the right the turn does not seem to be complete (sharp enough).

The problem noticed was believed to be the brakes, and after many shop visits having new brakes put on with pads, and even a new set of tires, the defect in the front drivers wheel was still noticed with no explanation as to what it was.

Brakes replaced.

Check engine light came on/off.

There is a clunking noise in the front chassis when the vehicle comes to a stop and was reported to the dealer. Their attempted fix was for their repair shop to 'turn' the front rotors. The noise remains and i am shocked that the life of my brake rotors were shortened as an attempted fix.i am afraid to take my vehicle back for that kind of repair.the tailgate would not securely latch and without a working 'tell-tale' door ajar warning indicator, the exhaust smell and ratteling noise was an alert to the problem.the dealer tells me the drivers side front of the vehicle has to be taken apart for them to correct the loose hinge problem on the drivers door.i have serious doubts about the repair capability of this dealers repair shop and the usefullness of the chrysler warranty. Can you help?there are more concerns but these are most important at this time.thank you for listening,/s/ emory tanos

While driving at 15 mph the vehicle jerked forward and sped up, causing the vehicle to roll over, and braking system did not work.this happen twice.

The contact owns a 1997 jeep cherokee. While driving 40 mph, the accelerator pedal stuck.the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the accelerator cable and throttle body were greased. A week later, while driving, the vehicle suddenly began to accelerate; the contact applied the brakes and parked. The vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that the throttle body and accelerator cable stuck. Also, the air bag light stayed illuminated. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 155,000 and the current mileage was 155,202.

Vehicle incident09/23/08 approx. 2:55-3:00 p.m. On highway 90, milton, fldriving a 1997 jeep cherokee, 4 cars in total were involved i was stopped far back in a line of cars waiting for a red light to turn green. The line began to move up slowly, i let my foot up from the brake and within seconds the jeep accelerated forward, i immediately applied pressure to the brakes the car slowed temporarily but continued to surge forward in a jerking hopping motion.my vehicle impacted the car ahead of me.i looked down to make sure i was applying pressure to the brakes; my passenger was already checking as well.seeing that i was (my foot never touched the gas pedal during any of this) and that the car was still pushing forward i was forced to turn off the ignition to stop the vehicle.the officer did not cite me though of course my vehicle was still responsible.the officer in her report stated that she believed the impact, to the car my jeep struck, was at 45 mp/h because of the amount of damage to the rear end.this of course was not possible since i was at a stopped position starting to coast forward; the extent of the damage was due to the jeep hitting the car multiple times as it continued to accelerate while i was braking.after the incident the car was taken to the dealer, no overt cause was found.through personal research i have found similar incidents linked to the cruise control system (even when not turned on), because of this we are in the process of having it disconnected.my family is extremely tentative to drive the vehicle till this problem is resolved.

Window seal is crimped. Mjs

On normal weather conditions, when entering the vehicle and closing the front passenger side front door, the rear quarter panel window on the driver's side exploded.

I feel it is necessary to report an incident with the potential for death. The rear windows in this vehicle can close with such force that it can strangle, decapitate, suffocate or collapse the airway of a child. My child almost died as a result of an inadvertant closing of the window with the child's head sticking out of the window while parked. Garage doors have a safety mechanism to prevent crushing or death, why not auto windows! i will be forwarding my concerns to the detroit free press. Please respond.

After a heavy rainfall, my wife and i proceed to make a right turn at the corn of our street and received down pouring of water the left side of my body, while my wife on the right side aftermaking a left turn at another corner. Reported to the dealer, who checked it out, and told us that it was the door seal on the drivers side. Another day i returned with the same problem, now they say it was the sky light window seal. 05/04/00. Seal ordered but not warranted. I must pay . Part oreded and repairing in progress even as i type. Just thought you would like to no. No damage to either me nor my wife.
