The axles on my camper have been replaced 4 times. Each time with the same axle. With no other modifications. The first time only the rear axle bent but i was able to drive back to the dealer in ct. The second time both axles bent and in the from right wheel the breaks, bearings, bushing, hub and spindle were all destroyed. The wheel almost fell off. Lippert replaced all parts and when i returned to ny my dealer inspected the axles and replaced the springs, shackles, and a bushing in june 2018. On july 4, 2018 the rear axle bent again. I've now been stranded waiting for replacement axles a total of 33 days.all events occurred while moving on highways. Simply replacing the axles is not working. Additional upgrades need to be made. Questions concerning axle weight ratings under rv travel trailers. Purchased new 2016 jayco, white hawk, 28dsbh travel trailer weighing 6392 lbs. Unloaded, with tandem 3500 lb. Axles. Maximum loaded weight of trailer 7500 lbs. According to sticker on the unit. This is 500 lbs. Over the 7000 lbs. Axle weight rating. Trailer has had (2) bent rear axles, bent spring hangers and broken spring hanger welds. Selling dealer replaced rear axle dec.2017 with same 3500 lb. Axle. As of june 2018 with 220 miles put on trailer since axle was replaced, now rear axle bent & spring hanger welds broke again. Dealer says manufacture (jayco) installed incorrect axles. Jayco says the correct axles weight rating have been installed under trailer. As of july 16, 2018 rv still @ dealer waiting repairs. Has there been any investigations into this or other consumer complaints about the same? i have seen several recalls involving the same in other jayco model years. I presently feel unsafe to tow trailer, fearing our safety or the safety of others onroads.

Travel trailer has wide stance axles manufactured by lippert components inc. The axles measure 2 3/8" diameter and the rear axle bent permanently causing excessive wear to the inside edge of the rear tires and leading to potential tire failure. Prior white hawk model years including 2012 had same problem with 2 3/8inch diameter dexter axles that were upgraded to 3 inch to resolve the problem.

The contact owns a 2016 jayco white hawk. The contact stated that, he noticed that the rear tires were making an abnormal noise. The contact stated that he inspected underneath the vehicle when he noticed that both axel's were rated at 3lbs each. The contact then referenced nhtsa campaign number: 16v158000 (suspension). The vehicle was taken to poulsbo rv, located at 12218 wa-99, everett, wa 98204, phone number:(800) 556-3878 where it was diagnosed that both axel's were the incorrect size. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the contact stated that the manufacturer along with the dealer was in the process of repairing the vehicle. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

On july 25,2018 lippert replaced a bent axle on my white hawk tt. I started my drive towards home and after less than 8 hours of driving the new axle bent. This occured on interstate 70 as i was going around indianapolis, in. The axles on this travel trailer are each rated at 3.500 lbs and the gross weight is 7,500 lbs. The axle diameter is 2 3/8 inches. Lippert is replacing them again but this time with 3" diameter tubes. The weight capacity will still be 3500 lbs.lippert asked me to drive from indianapolis where they bent to goshen in so they could repair them at their service center. On the way here the back right tire developed exposed steel tread and the hanger was bent.i drove in a heavy rain storm for 2 of the 3 hours. I'm glad the tire did not rupture along the way.this is the 4th axle to bend on my tt since april 25, 2018. My certified weight on the 2 axles is 6000 lbs and at the hitch end the weight is 1160 lbs. I am under weight.this is my second report involving axles on the jayco white hawk 2016.jayco has been no help. They blame everything on lippert.
