I get an airbag warning light which indicates that the airbag may not work.i took the car to the dealer, they plugged the car in and told me that they got a fault code indicating that the airbag cassette reel needed to be replaced.the cost was around $355.
Passenger side front airbag deployed after hitting a moderately sized pot hole.the driver's side front or side (if applicable) did not deploy.there was no passenger in the seat and thus the seat belt was not engaged.the airbag deployment seemedoverly sensitiveand was a replaced airbag after a minor accident in october of 2001.
I was driving about 65 miles an hour on the freeway when my knee bumped the ignition/key and turned the car off. I did not think much of it at the time and was able to handle the dangerous situation. After seeing all the serious issues with gm and chrysler thought i should drop you a line.

Vehicle stalled intermittently. There had been incidents wherevehicle died in the middle of the road, and consumer lost control of steering and brakes. No injuries reported.
We can smell gasoline in the passenger area of the car.it happens whether the windows are up or down, whether the air conditioning is on or off, whether the convertible top is up or down.usually happens in hot weather, but then again we have only owned and driven the car during the summer.the manufacturer feels that the problem is a combination of high altitude in the denver area, high ambient temperatures, and the fuel formulation in the denver area.they say it only happens in their 4.0 liter supercharged engines.the problem is intermittent.jaguar is in the process of buying our car back as they have not been able to correct the defect.it is happening to other customers as well.i feel that this is a safety defect and that the fuel fumes can lead to a fire in an accident or if the car is near an ignition source.these models should be recalled and a full refund given to the owners.thanks.
Butterfly valve located in the fuel line stuck, causing gas not to go to the engine. This resulted in vehicle cutting off while driving.

I was inside my vehicle (2000jaguarxk8) i was attempted to lower the convertible top down.the hydraulic lines which feed the motor failed and hydraulic fluid (3-4oz's) poured out from the top where the light console is in the headliner of the car onto me.smoke came out of the light console as it was shorted out.i am reporting this safety hazard since hydraulic fluid is flammable and i am just lucky, that a fire did not start and i was not smoking at the time. I took the car to the dealership which was aware and had heard of this happening to others.they were able to replace these lines.i do not have the old parts.
My wife an i have a 2000 jaguar xk8convertible and the plastic hydraulic lines ruptured above the interior light spraying hydraulic oil everywhere inside the car, including on us, i contacted the manufacturer and after a month or constant calls they didn't feel it was a problem of theirs and i should pay the $1,500.00 for repair, that just covered the lines and not the interior which was covered in oil. I have been told by many repair shops that this is dead common in these cars, why has there not been a factory recall as this is a very toxic/dangerous and expensive blunder on the part of jaguar. Lucky we were at a stop when this happened as otherwise the amount of oil i got in my eyes may have caused a fatal accident on the highway. Sincerely, john & lisa monaghan i cant image why they would use plastic hydraulic (a flammable liquid! thank god i don't smoke) lines inside the car , but metal hydraulic lines under the hood ???
I was parked in my driveway, after driving home from the local supermarket with the convertible top down - and upon pressing the "roof" button to raise and lower the top to it's closed position - i noticed that the right rear (passenger side) quarter window would not raise up closed like the left side.upon further investigation i discovered that this problem has been happening to many similar model year & make vehicles, and has been noted in tsb bulletin # 501-49.i respectfully ask that this issue generate a recall from jaguar to remedy the problem.
The inside rear view mirror on the 2000 jaguar xk8 failed before i purchased it in march.it is an auto chromatic mirror that is supposed to dim at night.however, when it failed it clouded up the mirror and it is very difficult to see, there are 2 images, and it doesn't dim at night.i spoke to the dealer and the manufacturer to see if they would replace this.they said that it was out of warranty. I told them that this is a safety issue because you cannot properly see out of the review mirror, and that this seems to be a very common problem with these mirrors.it seems that the majority of them have failed.i cannot believe that there isn't a safety recall on this.
