Nhtsa recall campaign 93v179000 concerning passive restraint belts. No parts were available.
1990 jaguar xj6. Consumer writes in regards to repairs to the passive restraint system *tgwthe consumer stated for over two years, dating back to june 9, 2009, he has attempted to get the inoperative passive restraint system fixed.jaguar informed the consumer there was no vendor for the part.after 15 months, jaguar offered to purchase the vehicle for $ 5,350 in september 2010 and then dropped the price to $3,675 in december 2010.the consumer referenced recall # 93v179000.
Driver's seat belt did not function, depriving consumer ofprotection if involved in an accident. Manufacturer was informed by consumer.
Jaguar coprate has acknowleged problem with dealer..no help in sight..the corprateoffice says vehicle must be fixed by dealer or will not warranty for seat belt.
When seat belt retracts it goes across the steering wheel, causing wheel to steer, making steering difficult. Dealer contacted ,and cannot remedy the problem. Problem still exists. Provide further information.
Driver's door locking switch on door latch went bad & broke. Would go up/down while driving. Also,while driving seat belt came undone & consumerwent against the steering wheel. This had caused an interference in driving for the driver. Would have to shut vehicle off just to get the seat belts to retract.

When shifting from "park" to "drive"vehicle bolted ahead at full acceleration without my touching accelerator pedal.applied full brakepedal with no effect and could only stop vehicle by turning off ignition with key.jaguar dealer advised me that "build up of carbon around throttle linkage" caused the problem.extremely lucky to have suffered no injuries to anyone or collision damage.vehicle traveled 75 feet across busy intersection at very high speed before i could stop it.
Consumer was parked in driveway, turned on the engine, shifted from park to drive, and all of a sudden vehicle accelerated and took off. Damages causedtoproperty wall and another house. Dealer/manufacturer were contacted. *ml
