While stoppedin the road waiting for another car. With foot on brake, the car suddenly goes full throttle.driver has both feet applied on the brake and the car still moves forward burning rubber, and then after a few seconds it goes back to idle. The car does this once or twice a year, the last time doing damage to a car in front of it. This is the fifth time this has happened. The car is idling normally with the right foot on the brake and it will justgo full throttle all by itself. It has happened enough that we know we do not have both the brake and the gas pedal depressed. From doing online research i believe jaguar and toyota / lexus used the same system for controlling acceleration. I replaced the throttle body after the fender bender, it evidently did not help.

On may 5, 2006, when my new 2006 jaguar xj8 was in the garage of my residence, with mileage of 1,634, the automobile experienced a massive fuel leak literally flooding the floor of the garage.the car was taken into the dealership where the service department replaced a flange seal, performed an overnight test drive, and stated that the vehicle "operates as designed".thereafter, on june 4, 2006, with mileage of 2,581, another massive fuel leak occurred and again the automobile was returned to the dealership for service.at this time the flange seal was againfound to be leaking and the gas tank was found to be warped.on this occasion the flange was again replaced and the fuel tank was "renewed".when i first contacted jaguar toll-free roadside assistance number and advised them of the problem they stated that the situation was too dangerous for them to handle, and that instead i should contact my local fire department to come to remove and clean from the area any and all signs of gasoline.learning that this would take hours, i opted not to do so although i now recognize that even by starting the vehicle, immersed as it was in gasoline, a destructive explosion (to life and property) could readily have occurred.

Fuel tank leak of unknown origin considered to be a hazardous condition but with no plans for repair.consumers have not been informed by company.company knows about problem.

Dt*: the contact stated after filling the vehicle with gas, a smelled gasoline was observed within the vehicle. Upon inspection, gasoline was observed running from underneath the vehicle.the fire department was alerted who determined the vehicle could not be towed because it was too dangerous.a representative from the dealer inspected the vehicle, cleaned the gasoline and then towed the vehicle to the dealership.the dealership determined the seals failed.the seals were repaired.the dealer determined the repaired seals could not be guaranteed. Updated 7/25/2006 - on july 7 2006 the consumer smelled the gas odor again.the dealer was contacted and they are currently looking for a new fuel tank to install in the vehicle. Updated 8/25/2006 -

I drive a 2006 jaguar xje sedan and have had problems 4 times with sudden acceleration when i come to a stop sign. I step on the brake and as the car comes to a stop it suddently accelerates.i have had to practically stand on the brake pedal to keep the car from going into the intersection with wheels screeching and the odor of rubber burning! the dealer, west herr jaguar in buffalo, new york has kept the car for the past 3 weeks and could not find anything wrong with it. Now my wife and i are driving it and fear that it may happen again. Since the dealer found nothing wrong with the car, even though this acceleration happened to us, (last time was in january 2010), what can i do ? have you had this incident occur with any other jaguars?
