The contact owns a 2005 jaguar xj sedan.the dvd that was included with the vehicle was wired incorrectly and did not work.in addition, the air bag sensor was not functioning properly and the air volume pressure rating was inaccurate.the dealer stated that they would repair the failures if he brought in the vehicle; however, the contact felt that the driving distance was unreasonable.the powertrain was unknown.the current mileage was 36,500 and failure mileage was 36,050.
My vehicle experiences very frequent failure of the speedometer.while driving down the road at varying speeds the needle will just graudually got to zero.in town traffic and highway speeds,it doesn't matter which.jaguar refused to fix it.i sued under the lemon law.
Jaguar 2005 xj vdp has experienced many episodes of unintended acceleration during braking to a stop.as brake is applied, the engine throttles up and car cannot be completely stopped. When car is quickly shifted to neutral and braking maintained, the engine revs over 10,000 rpm and the ignition must be cut in order to stop the episode. On one occasion the car could not be stopped at a busy intersection, forcing an urgent lane change and right hand turn to avoid accident.jaguar has "reprogrammed computer" on car with a reduction in frequency of the episodes for about 6 months, however problem now occurs several times/month.
Driving on the highway going about 70mph, not accelerating nor coasting, just maintaining speed. The engine basically shut down, and i had to pull onto the shoulder, it was very dangerous and frankly, it scared me. Engine light on, as well as "engine systems fault, parkbrake fault, dsc not available" showing up on the dash. I restarted the car about 4-5 times and it eventually started. I am assuming, this has happened numerous times over the past several years and no-one seems to have any idea what is causing it. It happens on busy highways and local street driving. This is a very dangerous situation. The cars engine could cut out at a moments notice and leave you in a very dangerous situation!
I have eye allergies and irritation which are aggravated by voc emissions inside the car. I am trying to find published info on the voc's in my2005 jaguar xj8.jaguar will not give me this data.pls advise where i can find it. I know that dot has compliance stds so it must be published somewhere???
I just read about toyota recalling late model driver side floor mats, due to slipping forward and interferring with the accelerator pedal.my 2005 jaguar xj8l has the same problem.i was able to stop in time to avoid an accident happening.
The zenon headlights flicker and sometimes go out. Restarting the car solves the problem but it recurs after a few minutes. Several inspections by dealer resulted in no repair as they said they could not make the problem occur. Just after the warranty expired the dealer told me that both headlights needed to be replaced and would not be covered under warranty. I paid to have the lights replaced so that i could drive the car at night again but now after a year the same thing is happening again. I believe this is a serious fault that could easily result in an accident while driving at night.
Repeated instances in dec. 2008 and jan. 2009 of vehicle going into "limp" mode, virtually inoperable.car service department analyzed the vehicle diagnostics on two occasions, finally claiming that a defective throttle body assembly was the problem.cost to me for repair - approx. $1,300.calls to a number of service departments for the vehicle make indicated that such defect was fairly common.i suspect the vehicle has a faulty throttle body assembly and should be subject to official recall for replacement.
2005 jaguar xj8lyou can be driving the vehicle and loose all mobility from the engine to drive axle. You would receive a park brake fault failure, however the engine would still be running all accessories would still be running perfectly however when you would press the accelerator it would just rev the engine but wouldn't move the car. This has happened on many different occasions no solution as been found but the car does it at random times.
2005 jaguar xjr goes into limp home mode (reduced performance mode) every once a while and be able to drive 10mph max. Car in the rear might crash for sudden loss of speed.dealer tried to read obd code but nothing was detected so no way to fix it. There are many xj owner experiencing same issue. Car will be drivable after restarting engine but dangerous to drive.

Was driving and it started raining and water started leaking into the cabin of the car. It occurs every time it rains.nothing has been done to repair as local body shop said its not repairable.

Just google "jaguar throttle body" and see how many problems customers are having.my 2005 xj8lwb with less than 60,000 miles experienced a throttle body failure while traveling on the interstate.i lost power as the engine went to idle speed and an "engine fault" message alerted me that there was a problem.fortunately, i was able to make it to the shoulder and creep down an exit, where i was able to find a service station.i turned the engine ignition off and waited for 15 seconds and restarted the engine, the fault message was gone and the engine had power again.i was able to make it home without another incident.we all would have been dead if an 18 wheeler was behind us when the engine lost power.last friday, i had several episodes with the "engine fault" and loss of power, but made it to a jaguar dealership safely, but shaken.they put the vehicle on the computer and announced the code that relates to the throttle body and figured the repairs to be $1,100 and that i could pick up the car today on august 23, 2010.over the weekend i searched the internet and saw the vast numbers of people having the same problem.some people reported accidents.please look into this problem before someone is killed.jaguar has recalled earlier models with throttle body problems, but refuses to recognize this problem on the 2004 and later models as of today.from my discussions with jaguar usa it does not appear that they will own up to the problem unless forced to.hopefully this where the nhtsa comes in.
