2003 jaguar s type, front end collision at 25 mph. Both front fenders and hood damaged severely.the vehicle is totaled by the insurance company.

While drivingairbag warning light appeared on the dashboard. Consumer contacted dealer, but problem recurred.

The contact owns a 2003 jaguar s-type.while driving 35 mph, the air bag light illuminated and would not dim.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the passenger side seat belt latch failed and needed to be replaced.the light is currently still illuminated.the current mileage was 47,300 and failure mileage was 46,000.

I was parked at a red light and hit head on by another vehicle that had to be at least traveling more 50 mph and the air bags didn't deploy on either the driver and the passenger side.

The contact owns a 2003 jaguar s type. While driving 65 mph the rear passenger tire exploded with out any warning. The vehicle crashed into an iron fence and the airbags did not deploy. The vehicle was towed to a police impound where the insurance company recovered it. The vehicle is being inspected and to determine if the vehilce is destroyed or repairable. The failure and current mileages were 60000.

Consumer's vehiclet-bonedat 10 mph on front driver' side.upon impact, front air bags did not deploy. Vehicle was towed.dealership was notified, but did not resolve the problem.

My wife and i own a 2003 jaguar s type. On the morning of the incident my wife got into the passenger seat and i in the drivers seat. When i turned on the ignition the passenger side air bag exploded, the dash cover that covers the air bag blew out just missing my wifes head, and completely smashed the windshield, ruining the cover and the windshield. It also blew out the sunroof breaking the plastic pieces that allow the sunroof to open and close. I called jaguar who told me to have the car towed to the nearest jaguar dealer. After 3 weeks i was told by the service manager that the cause of the air bag going off was a wire that came from the back of the airbag holder and connected to the airbag. The carrage that the airbag sits in had very sharp edges where the wire goes thru to connect with the airbag. As a result the wire rubbing on the airbag carrage rubbed thru the insulation of the wire causing the air bag to explode upon the turning of the key. Jaguar will do nothing to repair my vehicle ,but more then that someone is going to get killed as the metal dash plate over the airbag comes out at aprox. 800 miles per hour, enough speed and power to completely shatter the windshield, and sunroof.

In the 1 1/2 years that i have owned my vehicle it has been int he shop 15 times for various reasons:electrical, transmission, front end problems, steering, accelerations etc...jaguar has been dragging their feet for 4 months in rectifying problems.consumer affiars is worthless and have accused me of "outgrowing" my car.not concerned about their customers just doesn't want their car back.

My 2003 jaguar s-type was recalled in 2004, recall #42036 (r513) power train: automatic transmission.i purchased my jaguar as the second owner 1 1/2 years ago.i have had trouble with the car. For instance when i attempt to pass another vehicle on the highway and try to speed up the transmission slows the car down significantly. If i am traveling at 55 m.p.h and accelerate the car will immediately slow to about 30 m.p.h or less. It is very scary! and could result in a crash (as the warning stated on the recall)!the repair shop ran a computer diagnostic on my car. The code on the computer states "the transmission needs re-programming of the transmission control module as the transmission is slipping into neutral under load." the shop said there was an open recall on the car and the dealer needs to update the computer software to correct the problem. The car has no stickers saying recall service was ever done on it.the dealer said they cannot perform the service under the recall as the recall as there is no open field action on my vehicle although there is a currently open campaign. The dealer stated the manufacturer has the recall listed as completed. In contacting the manufacturer opened an investigation stating the recall was completed 03/09/05. 4 days later jaguar called back and said they need a letter or email from nhtsa stating tread's recommendation to manufacturers to "diagnose the impairment, thus nullifying further recurrence of the impairment."are you able to assist me by giving me something in writing to give to the jaguar manufacturer explaining their responsibility in correcting a recall as stated in the transportation recall enhancement accountability and documentation (tread) act ? if the recall problem with my car was completed it was not done correctly as the car is repeating the same dangerous problem.thank you or your assistance!

I pulled up to stop at a restaurant curb and stopped the vehicle.the engine suddenly raced to approx 6000-6500 rpm.i was able to keep my foot firmly on the brake, shift the transmission into park, and turn the engine off.when i re-started the engine everything was fine.i did' not think too much of this, outside of scaring the hell out of me, as i thought my foot might have slipped off the brake and on to the accelerator.about one week it happened again as i was pulling up to a stop behind a vehicle the engine started racing again.again i was able to sop, within 2 feet, of the vehicle in front of me.the vehicle is now at the jaguar dealership, markel, in omaha, ne.jaguar cars in new jersey ([xxx]) just informed me that it is a transmission problem and jaguar would not accept responsibility for a possible safety defect.they offered to repair it for $7,500.i believe this is a potential safety issue and will not drive it until it is repaired.jaguar apparently does not agree with assessment and refuses to take responsibility for the defect.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I found a recall on the electronic park brake module for a defect to be replaced since 2005, but i was never notified. I have had this vehicle since 2007 with many services at the dealership since purchased. Monday june 11, 2018 my parking brake engaged and would not release. This is s serious safety concern. I was parked away from home paying a bill in the poring rain and had to have my car towed to the nearer dealership.it has been 3 days now without transportation and i still don't know if they can fix it. All this could have been avoided with proper service and notification from the authorized dealership years ago at the time of service.

I got in my car to leave and the dash keep saying apply parking brake tried to and the parking brake would not release.

I have new brakes on my car and the rotors are good as well. I was driving and my car lighting system came up with that above and started to move slowly on a city street. I don't know what is causing this problem. I see that there was a recall on the parking brake module back in 2005 but i am the second owner of this car. I am not sure ifthis was taken care of by the previous owner. I have called several jaguar places about records on this car about these recall/s but i am getting the run around. Luckily i haven't had any accidents with this issue. Please help...

Hithe car started braking itself without pushing the brake then i see the parking brake light fault it the dashboard.i can't drive the car like this.

The distance of the brake pedal and accelerator pedal are almost the same distance from the car floor and the pedals are close enough that a foot can contact both. After starting the car in a parking lot and putting in drive i stepped on the brake but the car lurched forward and the harder i pressed the brake the faster the car went over a concrete barrier. The cause was, of course, that i was stepping on both pedals. A year later the same thing happened and i rammed and broke a garage door. The height of the brake pedal must be raised about an inch so that stepping on the brake pedal will not allow simultaneous stepping the accelerator. I have contacted jaguar, north america ref# [xxx]. On my car i have put a 7/8 inch block on the brake pedal to raise the height.if it had been a person ahead of me instead of a garage door i probably would have killed him.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Odi#11101609 - update information. Update, my car recall part was replaced for $574.04 and i picked it up yesterday 6-27-18, by a local auto parts repair shop, i have the bill to show proof. Jaguar land rover gwinnett salesman frisco dollard 770-680-5000 ofc emailed me on 6-16-18 to sale me another car, i told him i want my car fixed not a sale. He told me to call mike white service mgr. After leaving several messages, mr white called me back very rude and stated, they would not compensate me for the recall defect part. After i asked him to run my vin# he stated the recall part was replaced 6-29-2007 under my name. I told him that was impossible because i did not buy this car until 7-9-2007. He became more upset and short with me and said it would be after 7-4-18 before they could even look at my car $150.00 just to diagnostics plus any part or labor just bring it in, i told him it was not drive-able, he said that was my problem. Nothing else they could or would do. I feel this was a total let down and neglect on my vehicle by jaguar land rover i could had been killed or serious hurt because of a faulty brake recall/defect part on my car that should have been replaced years ago at any service visit that i had at their place of business.now that i have paid the added expense for this repair and they were not willing to do anything to help correct this problem. Un-justice has been done to me.

Vehicle parking brake randomly comes on without warning and causes car to try lock wheels even when driving.sometimes when first start the parking brake is locked even if i don't use it and will unlock when start rolling. Vehicle has multiple misfire coeds and restricted performance and loses power for no reason.also dangerous when driving in traffic.not sure what issues is but has new plugs and coils and everythingso believe electrical issue

My vehicle accelerate when applying brakes. Took it to a shop and was took something was defaulting with my master brake cylinder and the brake booster. Cost nearly 1600 to fix. Cal the manufacturer about a recall related to this but was told my car wasn't related to the recall.

The contact owns a 2003 jaguar s-type. The contact stated the emergency brake independently engaged. The brake and the abs warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 04v488000 (parking brake). The failure mileage was approximately 23,000.

The abs light and a message stating abs fault/park brake fault would display while driving at highway speeds. When the car was stopped and re-started, the message would re-set. This happened several times (> 5), and the dealer did not fix for some time because they never got to see the message. We noticed that the problem occurred during or after a heavy rain. The dealer thought there might have been a problem with a sensor on the wheel.ultimately, the dealer replaced the abs module.

I have a 2003 jaguar s type r.at 32,000 miles i had to replace the pads of my vehicle at all 4 corners.since then my rotors constantly keep warping, even after i brought the car back twice and my rear brakes have unevenly worn down to the point that my right rear rotor started grinding. My car has been in the shop numerous times to have warranty work done and i have informed the dealership of the specific tsbs that correlate to my issues.my rear parking brake module was replaced twice, as was my right rear wheel hub. The dealership disregards any service bulletin that i inform them of by saying that my car does not fit into the vin range, and if it does fit into the vin range they tell me that although there is a service bulletin it is not a bulletin covered by the dealership but by the consumer. My car is under full warranty and i do not understand how a known problem on a car is my responsibility to cover the costs.to correct the warped discs, the dealership resurfaced my discs past the minimum thickness and refused to then give me new rotors.the parking brake actuator they replaced for free because it was an actual recall, and for the unevenly worn rear brakes due to the parking brake actuator they will fix by charging me $850 for new rotors and pads.the dealership refuses to touch wearable items such as brakes or tires, even if the brakes or tires were worn down due to the malfunction of a covered item.the costs keep building up when a new set of tires is $2000 and a new set of brakes is $1600.if jaguar can not manufacture asafe and sturdy vehicle it should not be on their consumer to constantly pay to keep the vehicle safe and road worthy.

The contact owns a 2003 jaguar s-type.while driving 45 mph, the emergency brake failed and caused the brakes to lock.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and later diagnosed.the failure mileage was 47,000.

At 11 miles a small noise was there. I look at tires & sawnothing. After road trip told service tech and salesman. Was told rock in tire, at 53 mile noise came back. Calledsalesman, and general manager was told to bring it in to shop monday. Paint has scratches threw out car paint.

2004 jaguar s-type needed new brakes with 30,000 miles on them and tires needed to be replaced.the abs light had illuminated, a wiper motor was installed and the rear brake line and rotors were replaced.

2003 jaguar drivers side window will not roll up/down. Front ball joints needed to be replaced.the air conditioner was blowing out hot air, the dealer stated the evaporator was leaking freon. The rear bumper was broken. The abs controlmodule needed to be reprogrammed. The brakes needed to be replaced. The rear lights were inoperative.the consumer believes the odometer on the vehicle was rolled back prior to purchase and that the vehicle was in an accident.

While approaching a stop sign and applying my brakes the car involuntarily accelerated on to incoming traffic.the car was revving at high speed and could not be stopped.i had both feet on the brakes but car was not responding . I headed toward high curb avoiding cars and pedestrians in hopes of slowing car before i was to hit dipsey dumpster ,on the side of the road (i had chosen to hit them in order to avoid involving other cars and pedestrians) when i hit the curb at high rpms , the impact damaged the right front wheel and under carriage of automobile. The acceleration stopped . It was a terrifying experience. This malfunction has been registered by other drivers. Of jaguars. It is a safety issue that jaguar needs to address.i am lucky that i did not kill anyone or had serious injuries to my passenger and myself.

(1) events leading up to the failure:none.the car has been routinely serviced.(2) failure and its consequences:the car, twice, while attempting to accelerate, would slow down and seems to be weighed down.the car will not accelerate.the abs brakes go off, and the emergency brake lights go off.also, error report appears stating that there is a brake failure.it puts me at risk for accidents because on both occasion i was driving the car.(3) what was done to correct the failure:i took the car into a jaguar dealer, but jaguar can not recreate the error, so they are unwilling to replace the braking system.

While driving at approximately 65 mph rear brakes locked, and the brake light on the dashboard illuminated and began flashing.the driver had difficulty steering the vehicle.it went into a spin ,causing the rear of the vehicle to hit the concrete divider. Also, the steering column broke when the brake module broke.the vehicle was towed to the dealership.the engineers could not find a problem. *sc

While driving and making a left hand turn at slow speed ,i tried to use my brakes but my car accelerated. There were 2 pedestrians on the opposite side of the street. To avoid hitting them, i swerved to the curb and immediately turned off my ignition. One of the pedestrians said my front tires locked and my rear tires were spinning. Fortunately, i was driving in my private street located in a townhouse community. I could have easily killed someone. Very scary! the car is now at my mechanics. I am afraid to drive this vehicle.02

Dt*:the contact stated while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated as though the cruise control was activated.the vehicle stopped after colliding with cement steps.this caused minor damage to the front end.the vehicle was towed to the dealership where diagnostic tests were performed.the test results were sent to the manufacturer and the manufacturer will not disclose this information to the contact.

While stopped at a traffic light with right foot on the brake and the transmission in drive the car surged forward on its own at a rapid rate, moving forward considerably more than a car length before heavy braking slowed it down in the middle of the intersection against a red light.the engine than returned to idle just as fast and mysteriously as it accelerated.at no time was the accelerator pedal touched. The stability control system light came on indicating failure of the system.

The consumer stated this is a safety issue and would like the issue investigated.

The contact owns a 2003 jaguar s-type. The contact was braking for a traffic stop when the engine rpms increased and the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The failure occurred as the contact was still applying the brakes. The contact was unable to stop the vehicle and crashed into a dumpster in order to stop the vehicle from accelerating any further. The contact and the front seat passenger sustained minor injuries. A police report was not filed of the incident. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to have a diagnostic performed. The black box was reviewed but the dealer was unable to retrieve any information. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was not available.the approximate failure and current mileage was 80,000.

Unintended and out of control accelerationi had stopped the car waiting for a parking place at the clinic.i backed up a few feet to allow a car to back out of the space i wanted.i started to move slowly into the head in parking space with my left foot still on the brake when the car accelerated rapidly with a roar.with both feet on the brake i was finally able to stop the car but not before it jumped the curb at the end of the parking space and hit the concrete base of a lamp post, damaging the front bumper.the engine quickly returned to idle after a few seconds.a person standing at the end of theparking space would have been hit.the car was delivered to woburn jaguar and identified as a serious safety issue.woburn jaguar claimed to have reconfigured the ecm and tcm but claimed they could not duplicate the problem. Jaguar nj was notified but again offered no help or advice about the unintentional acceleration.

Dt*: the contact stated that the vehicle was placed in reverse with her foot on the brake, however the vehicle screeched and shot out of the detached garage where other vehicles were lined up on the other side of the residential subdivision and hit two other vehicles on the other side of the street about 40 feet away.the service dealer inspected the vehicle and determined they could not find any problems with the vehicle.on june 11, 2006, this happened again in a parking lot.during this incident, the vehicle was placed in reverse and again the brakes failed and hit the vehicle behind them. Updated 07/14/06.

Dt*: the contact stated in january 2006, the vehicle accelerated on its own while reversing, crashing into a cement garage.no injuries were sustained.a police report was taken.the service dealer could not duplicate the problem.in october 2006, the vehicle accelerated on its own and rear ended another vehicle.a police report was not taken.the vehicle was towed to a out of state dealer to try to fix the issue.

I applied brake & made right turn into parking space. I then applied more pressure to brake to stop car.car did not stop, but continued to move forward as if i had not applied more pressure to brake.realizing i may hit curb, i pushed brake peddle down hard, & added left foot to brake pedal along with right foot. Brake pedal lost all resistance, & my feet went downto the floor. Car accelerated forward & crashed into cement steps. Car was towed to jag authorized body shop, then towed to dealer for diagnosis.dealer sent computer readout to jaguar engineers to analyze. They could not "find" the problem, so jaguar told me that there is no problem!just becausejaguar could not "find" the problem, does not mean there is no problem!jaguar will not disclose to either myself or dealer what parts were tested or results of tests. Jaguar just says car conforms to manufacturer specifications. Jaguar refuses to put in writing that this car is safe to drive.another indication of a malfunction is that 5 days before the accident i re- leased this 2003 car. Dealer looked at the mileage on it and wrote it on the lease.then 5 days later when it crashed & got towed to the body shop, the body shop wrote down the mileage upon arrival. ( car was not able to be driven). My insurance appraiser and their investigator also wrote down that same mileage number. The odometer had registered 440 miles more than on the date of the lease, yet i had actually only driven it a maximum of 100 miles!dealer & jaguar said theyhave noway to diagnose this & put blame on clerical error. No clerical error could explain 440 miles! jaguar cannot explain this, so they ignored i!.they can't explain why the car did not stop and accelerated, so they blame that on driver error!noticing so many other complaints from jaguar owners on your web-site for the very same thing. Ibelieve there is a very serious safety issue that jaguar refuses to acknowledge and can't fix!

Unintended and out of control accelerationi was slowly pulling out of a parallel parking place with my left foot still on the brake. The car suddenly accelerated with the engine speeding.it took both feet on the brake to bring the car to a stop, just short of a pedestrian in a cross walk.the engine dropped to idle after a few seconds.the car was delivered to woburn jaguar who worked on it but could not duplicate the problem.jaguar cars in nj was advised but offered no help.

When in reverse the accelerator got stuck. As a result, vehicle suddenly accelerated into a parking garage guard rail.
