2001 jaguar s-type v-6. I receive an engine failsafe mode message on dash. The car hesitates and may stall while driving. Computer says it is the throttle body housing to throttle pedal unit (which has been replaced.) this occurs primarily in the morning when i first start driving and it will stay in this mode from 5 to 10 minutes then go to normal driving mode. The last time it stayed in the failsafe mode for about 30 minutes. Two mechanics "think it is the throttle body control but they cannot say for sure but in their opinion this is a part that fails on many jags. The failure is a real safety issue since you do not know when it can happen. At some stop lights it will just die in mid-turning of a corner. After replacing the throttle pedal which was one of the possible parts problems, it returned with the same problem after about a week. I cannot get any information from jaguar to see if this is an ongoing problem for jaguars. The only real information is on blogs and chat rooms on jag repairs. This has to be a design flaw that owners should not have to bear the burden of buying a $ 2000 part, especially if it is being ignored by the manufacturer.

While driving my 2001 jaguar s-type 3.0, the car sometimes shuts off, i could be on the interstate or on a secondary street the same thing happens. The check engine light come on and also a message on the dash board saying,(engine fail safe mode ) and at that time the car shuts off. This is a safety problem.

I purchased a 2001 jaguar s-type less than a year ago.it has less than 70000 miles on it and while i am driving down the road the motor starts revving up and it won't shift....it says gearbox fault.apparently this is a common problem among this model of car.i was pulling out to make a left turn and was nearly hit because suddenly the car wouldn't go.how many complaints do you have to have to force a recall?i purchased this car because i thought it would be a safe dependable car.very poor craftsmanship!

Owner of a jaguar s-type 4.0, 2001, 54,000 miles : a warning light came up indicating "shift gear failure". The car was taken to the dealership as per their request to investigate the situation. After 3 days i was told that a new transmission was needed. I asked how a relatively new car, very well kept (every service was done on time and at the dealership) could have this major problem. I was told that this type of car frequently have this problems. Jaguar is replacing the transmission with a refurbished one for a cost of $2240.00 plus tax. What can i do to get some of this expense back. Do i have a valid claim ?it is just hard to see an expensive car like this have this type of problem and since the insurance expired (50,000 miles) just be told to take it or leave it. Actually i was told that jaguar was doing me a favor by providing such an inexpensive transmission that they tipically cost about $6,300.00.

My driveway has a very slight incline. When parked on the incline i was unable to get my car out of park unless i used force. In 2004 the gear started sticking. The dealer replaced the cable gear assembly.in july 2006 i had the car in drive but it started rolling backwards. I had to hold the gear in drive in order to drive the car. I drove it directly to the dealer where i had the gear assembly replaced again! it wasn't until the second gear assembly replacement that jaguar informed me that my car came with special instructions...if parked on an incline (slight or otherwise) i needed to engage the hand brake first before placing the car in park. On august 3, 2006 the lever gear shift went out and was replaced. So far, i've spent approximately $900 on issues related to the gear assembly. This is obviously a defect. At what point will jaguar take responsibility for this problem? when the car rolls back on a pedestrian!

After driving on a freeway in downtown la, arrived in a parking structure.suddenly after a big bang, the front left of car collapsed and stopped.it seemed that the bolt for front axle sheared off, and the component of the axle (a-rod?) pushed into the tire rim.two months ago the car seemed unstable during the driving at speed above 30 mph.the car was taken to the dealership in november (2000 miles before the incident).the dealer indicated that a bolt was loose and they tightened it up.historically, this car was taken to the dealer ship at numerous occasions for the reason of instability during the driving and each time we were told that there is nothing wrong with the car.the incident has resulted in significant damage and caused a release of gasoline leak.if this incident would have happened 10 minutes earlier, the car was being driven in a freeway at a speed of 60 mph.the sudden failure would have resulted in fatality and with the gasoline leak, it would have created a major distastour.the car has 37,000 miles and is jaguar s, v8.the tires are only two months old.the problem was recognized and the actions taken were inadequate and could have resulted in death, if occured 10 minutes earlier.the car has been purchased from and maintained by bauer jaguar in santa ana, california.

Power adjusted seats only work occasionally, as sometimes when the button is pressed no sound is heard and nothing happens and sometimes it works as needed. He driver's seat back will not stay attatched even after having the dealership put it back on for me a couple of times, it falls completely off, exposing the wiring and components in the seat.

Unusual noise was coming from front suspension and steering was like loose, i was going 40mph on 2 way road than i hit road bump and car just went to left by self and i almost hit the car coming from opposite way.back in december 2013 i took car to shop to get alignment done and the tech told me there is something loose on suspension and he have to charge me 125 dollars extra to get alignment done. After that car was fine for driving than the noise comes back again.this car is unsafe to drive and i don't know what to do. Making a left turn in a jaguar 2001 s type, the steering wheel lost all power and crashed into the median. Bounced off the median into the street and crashed into a passing vehicle.

At 77600 miles the car hashad all the bushings and ball joints in the front steering to a point that it's swaying so much it's challenging to stay in the lane when encountering any imperfection on the road. Experiencing loud clicking and clunks and fear that if this develops any further the wheels will fall off. This vin is apparently not included in this well known problem so would be covered under a recall. With the vehicle l lifted i can easily move thecontrol arm about half an inch. This will cause the bolt to break off very soon with how quickly it has deteriorated.

Jaguar 2001 s-type had a severe steering problem in october 2008. I took it to an alignment specialist who concluded that it could not be safely driven at all, until the front lower steering arm, sway bar link, steering knuckle and tie rod were replaced. Authorized dealer failed to advise of problem although vehicle was regularly serviced there from 2004 to present, most recently in october 2008 shortly before this incident. Jaguar and its authorized dealer refuse to compensate me for repairs required and performed as described above. Old parts may yet be available.

I could have a bad wreck or an injury. I called the police to help me out with the traffic and a tow truck to pick my car. Driving this car is being extremely dangerous for me. Now i don't have a car to drive and i expect the jaguar be responsible for this issue since it was a recall for this model2001 jaguar stype .

The ball joint attaching nut will not stay tightened damaging the lower ball joints forcing the car to go off the road. I was lucky nothing and anyone was injured. There is a recall for this exact problem (00v359002) it didn't cover all the cars affected.

The contact owns a 2001 jaguar s-type. While driving at 3 mph, there was an unusual squeaking noise from the front wheels. The vehicle was taken to a local auto repair facility where the mechanic advised the contact that the ball joints were loose and would need to be replaced. My jaguar's front end ball joints failed, with hardly any miles on the car. The car is a 2001 and there is a recall for the front end ball joints. Jaguar says my vin number is not included in the recall and refuses to pay for the repairs.

In 2001, the year i bought the car i had a crash where i lost the complete control of the car. I just read that there was a recall of suspension:front:control arm:lower ball joint which can cause the crash. I am certain that this caused my crash and due this i was under enormous tension for 6 - 8 months. My car was in body shop for 6 months which caused me lot of problems in my day to day life.

Very loud "clunk" noiseis heard in the wheels when driving, and i am told it's the ball joint/suspension that's the culprit. Have yet to have this problem fixed but i understand it's a very dangerous problem that could cause accident if this portion breaks.

The contact owns a 2001 jaguar s-type.the contact stated that the steering was very loose and the driver side lower ball joint had been replaced.currently, a bolt has become loose on the passenger side lower ball joint, which was noticed before it detached from the vehicle.the bolt was so loose that the alignment failed when the vehicle drove over a bump in the road.nhtsa campaign id number 00v359002 (suspension:front: control arm:lower ball joint front end) did not apply to his vin.the purchase date was unknown.the current mileage was 67,000 and failure mileage was 66,000.

Was making a three point turn and a bolt just fell out and caused my car to not turn anymore.heard a loud pop.

Jaguar 2001 s-type strut and ball joint recallid # 00v359002.

Lower ball joint failed on 2001 s-type 4.0 and the dealer just states the vin is not in the recall, but the issue is the same as the recall. This repair cost is extremely ridiculous and jaguar should fix this problem for free. This issue can cause your car to lose control and can kill someone. I have to drive my kids each day in this car to school, etc. I just paid $1,140 to replace ac hoses and now this. This is a lemon. I expect jaguar to for once step up here and fix this issue, regardless of the vin number. The car has the same problem as the recall. Look at the complaints on this board along. My car was manufactured in july 2000 so its in the batch range of the issue.

The contact owns a 2001 jaguar s-type. The contact stated that the ball joints were making a squeaking sound as if the lower ball joint was fractured. Fuel also began leaking since the seal on the fuel line was inoperable. He also smelled a strong fuel odor. Recalls (06e043000, 06e056000, & 00v359002) are related to the failure; however, the dealer and manufacturer confirmed that his vin was not included. The failure was diagnosed by an independent mechanic. The vehicle has not been repaired. The current mileage was approximately 83,000. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.

Car only had 36,000 miles @beginning of problems. Car began jerking hard to the left. I almost hit an 18-wheeler head-on. I just heard that a recall exists on the suspension, ball joints, etc.this is weird, since i have had the car back to the shop @ least 5 times, and none of this was fixed. People could have been killed. I have filed a consumer complaint.hopefully, jaguar will correct this problem, before someone is hurt. My car is undriveable at this time.

Very loud "clunk" noiseis heard in the wheels when driving, and i am told it's the ball joint/suspension that's the culprit. Have yet to have this problem fixed but i understand it's a very dangerous problem that could cause accident if this portion breaks.

When turning a corner vehicle makes a noise. Vehicle does not perform the way that it should,it sometimes goes out of the lane.there is a faulty stabilizer bar on the vehicle, per the technical service bulletin.

While stopped at stop light, experienced car on fire.a lady yelling for me to get out, i saw smoke did not know it was my car. The rear back wheel had fire flaming out and had gone out before the fire department arrived.the consumer had new brakes placed on the vehicle when it was three months old and had recently placed new wheel bearings on the vehicle after the consumer complained about load noise.the consumer requested information about other same make models that may have the same problem. *sc

Jaguar s type 2001,when it was assembled, they use plastic timing tansioner with a matal chain which cause to wornout fast and lock the engine.

Vehicle accelerates when putting on brakes.thishappened on at least six (6) different occasions.this generally happens in stop and go traffic.the worse incident involved applying great pressure on the brakes to the point where the wheels were spinning (burning rubber), and the only way to come to a complete stop was to shift the gear into neutral.

The contact owns a 2001 jaguar s-type. The contact stated that while in reverse, the vehicle suddenly accelerated. The contact mentioned that it was very difficult to shift out of reverse and the vehicle would not turn off. The vehicle failed to stop and struck a curb. A police report was not filed and no injuries were sustained. The vehicle was towed to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the throttle body was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 170,000.

After starting vehicle and shifting gear either in drive or reversevehicle commenced to accelerate at 3000 or more rpms.this problemhad occurred on three occasions. Taken to the dealer shop, and they informed consumer that theywereunable to duplicateproblem.

Upon pressing the window down button the window would make a high pitched screeching noise, and upon rolling the window down a few inches one frosted night it made a loud popping noise and refused to roll up or down after that. I have been told this will cost near $400 to fix, as the part must be ordered from the dealership (they say it's the regulator that's out)and it's very expensive, plus the cost of labor.

I own a 2001 jaguar s type.while attempting to lower the left front passenger window, it fell into the door and would not come out (it is power driven).i had to drive around for 3 days with the window down.i took it to the dealer and they told me it was a broken window regulator.they replaced the regulator since my vehice was still under warranty.

Jaguar s-type.i have had three window regulators fail (front right & both rear) in less than 18 months, with the last two occurring within 60 days of each other.in searching the internet, i see many complaints from other s-type owners who have similar problems on this massive scale.i am an attorney, and this seems to be a recurring product defect such that a recall should occur or, at a minimum, jaguar should be responsible.it has cost over $1200 to replace the three thus far.

Interior rear view mirror is mounted too low, the view of the road to the right of the center is blocked, consumer states this problem only exists on jaguars equipped with rain sensing windshield wipers, mirror is mounted to the windshield base by only a spherical joint, the joint permits angular adjustment for the mirror to aim to a particular field of view.

Dt*:the contact stated that while driving on interstate i-45, the front left tire on the jaguar s-type deflated, forcing the contact to pull off the road.the vehicle was taken to the tire dealer to replace all 4 tires.when the dealer attempted to remove the lug nut from the front right tire, the lug nut separated from the self centering nipple making it impossible to remove the tire.the other 3 old tires were put back on the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop. As the mechanic attempted to remove another tire, two lug nuts separated in the same wheel.to remove the nipple, the mechanic had to create a groove into the back of the nipple. The dealer advised the contact that the maximum torque for the lug nuts should be 72 foot pounds and all of them were over-tightened by the original dealer.the mechanic was able to fix the problem, and installed and lubricated new lug nuts. The contact returned to the tire dealer and 4 new tires installed on the vehicle.
