The car dash board lights did not work and the radio's light stayed on all the time, and it drained the battery the cd player did not work because their was not a cd player in the car and when i returned the car to be fixed he told me that he would add the cd player and fix the car and all of the necessary things that needed to be done to the car. I went back to check on my car, because he had not called me and he had sold my car to somebody else. I told him that i wanted my money back and he refused to reimburse me for my money and told me that he could give me two cars to make up for my lost.i want all of my money back that this company owes me.

Incident 1: the windshield wipers has failed at least 10 times during a two year period.i have reported the incident to the manufacturer at least 5 times. It took the dealer 3 months to get the electrical system started. Incident 3: the vehicle will roll while in drive if i am on an incline.

I work for a auto shop and have a customer that has a 2000 s-type and has had some issues with it. The first time i saw the car it had a misfire and was making a ticking noise. After pulling the engine apart i found that it needed the time chain tensioners replaced. The next time the car came in it had no acceleration and constantly set the fault code air assisted fuel injection motor fault. After disassembling the engine once again, we found felt packing material in the intake manifold that had clogged the #8 intake port in the cylinder head and we also found that the timing chains and tensioners needed to be replaced again. The felt packing comes from the car and is a danger theengine and the lack of acceleration. This is a danger and can cause an accident.

Took my 2000 jag s type to dealer on 2 dec 2005 for recall of engine breather elbow.the engine breather vent tube was replaced.at the same time, i told the dealer that my engine light was on -- they checked it and stated that i needed a fuel intake sensor.on 9 dec the sensor was replaced. Within a week, the engine light came back on, was advised that the part was probably bad, they ordered a new part and it was installed.left the lot and the engine light returned.ireturned to the lot the next day and they supposedly cleaned all the wires and applied stab lint to the harness.left lot and the engine light returned.was then told that it was no longer the fuel temperature, it was a wiring problem and they would need at least 3-hours to trace the wiring that the problem was somewhere between the processor and the sensor.must remove intake and hardware to access. Not very comfortable with the explanation so i took the car to another import dealer and he stated that it had 2-misfires and the catalytic converter needed replacing and something about odu.i was asked if my car had gone through emission testing and in feb/mar 06, my car passed emission testing without any problems.also the dealer found a ford new clamp (i have pictures and the clamp) in my vehicle sitting above one of the pistons causing a gap.he thought that this might have been what was causing the problem.well, it seems that my car is being constantly diagnosed on my $$$.if the problem is not there, i get a bill, pay for it.lo and behold, the problem still exists and now it is for another reason.seems like the dealers are trouble shooting on my dime.my car is sick -- it is like it is struggling to get its next breath or that something is blocking the air flow.it sputters at a point.i've only used the highest premium gas in the vehicle.i've been advised to not use this gas and then later advised to use this gas.i'm so frustrated at this point.

Comment:my wife has a 2000 jag stype v8 4.0 that we purchased aprox 4 yrs ago, but not from a jag dealer. The connecting rod in the motor went & a few months ago i got a used motor to replace that one & took it all apart & realized that the same thing was wrong with that one also.the #6 cylinders & the #1 were both bad. So i got another used motor & couldn't believe it but the exact same thing was wrong with that one too. I called a friend of mine who owns a repair shop to see if he could get me a deal on a new motor & he said that he just had a jag same year make & model come into the shop with the sameexact problem. (now that's 4 motors within 10 min of my house that have this issue.) i started thinking that maybe there was some kind of recall or defect with it.i went to a jag dealer to talk to someone about it, & b/c i didn't purchase the car from a jag dealer i purchase it preowned the dealer said that they couldn't help me & that there is no known engine recalls that they knew of. I really don't know where else to turn, this is my wife's only vehicle, & we just can not afford a brand new motor for this car. Do you have any suggestions or know if there are any recalls or issues with it.i would appreciate any help you can give me. I also searched on the internet & there are a lot of people with the same problem & just don't know what to do.well, thank you.

When coming to stop or making a turn or when slowing downengine will stall without a prior warning.consumer states vehicle has been in shop 4 times and after the first 3, the stalling continued, vehicle has not stalled since 4th repair, however stalling is random and consumer can not be sure problem has been fixed.

The car just crossed the 100,000 mile mark and i put gas in, car was on empty and turned off, and after about seven gallons of gas, gas started coming out from under the car. I read about the same problem ( safety recall # 06v418000) in the 2005 jaguar s type, that seems to be exactly what this 2000 s type is doing. Dealer says that there is no recall matching my v.i.n. , i feel like its a safety issue and should have been recalled.

I own a 2000 jaguar s-type. Everytime i park on a slope/incline the automaticaly locks up. Meaning when i am ready to leave from parking spot , the shifter will not move from park to drive/reverse/neutral. It locks up. I have to have a tow truck come move it to a flat surface. The car has been to the dealer 3 times, and the have no fix. The jag dealer and jaguar corp. Try keep telling me it's not a defect. From asking around i found out this problem is consitent in all the jaguar s-type model. So now unless i find a flat surface to park i am in trouble. What is going with this?

Emergency brake is very hard to put on/off. Consumer indicates that it is impossible for his wife to pull it up, and the dealer said that it can't be adjusted.

Complaint regarding services rendered by jaguar of tacoma.*mrthe consumer stated the vehicle would not come out of park easily. The dealer changed a cable, it then would come out of park, but not as smooth.the consumer then stated it almost became impossible for the gear to come out of park.when the consumer took the vehicle to the dealer, he was told there was a transmission problem that would cost 1300.00.the consumer was told the manufacturer was aware of the problem since 2002.(jaguar s-type).the vehicle also had front end problems.

The contact owns a 2000 jaguar s-type. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle decelerated to 15 mph independently. The contact pulled the vehicle over and turned off the engine. Once restarted, the vehicle resumed normal operation. The failure recurred and the vehicle was taken to two independent mechanics who diagnosed that the drum on the transmission was faulty. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure occurred injanuary of 2019 and the vehicle had not been repaired since. The failure mileage was 131,000. The vin was unknown.

I parked the car on a hill last week and couldnt get the car out of park.i had to have some buddies rock the car to get it out of park into reverse.the vehicle hasnt rode the same since.it doesnt go into drive as smoothly and the car also revs at higher rpms than average before switching into the next gear.

When my car has been parked for over four hours or so, i can't move it (gear)out park to get it in gear to drive. If i wait for three minutes or so it shifts fine.

This is crazy i see all these complaints through the years about the 2000 s type jag all have the same problems.. Why hasn't there been a recall i just recently experienced the same thing where i had to have my car towed when i first noticeditwas right after i bought the car in 2012.now it's been almost going to 3 years and i'm having a this problem was not being able to shift into drive in a park position or even switch from reverse when i'm parked on the incline this is ridiculous,i can't even drive my car. Now with all the complaints that i've been reading about the jaguar s-type it makes me feel like jaguars not concerned about their safety issues while building such a prestigious and very expensive automobile there may concern was getting it out in the showroom to sell for thousands of dollars not including the expensive repairs that it takes to maintain a jaguar.it seems to me the jaguar dealerships be willing to stand behind their product as well as accommodate the safety issues that are clearly a defect on the many factors part because you wouldn't have that many people complaining on a forum about the same issue the same complaint.i do realize that my jaguar is now 15 years old but it still has a whole lot of life in it i have a beautiful jaguar.and i love it i love everything about it but this problem with the gear box shift truly need to be looked into please don't wait for a disaster to happen in these cars if the recall will require them spending millions is so be it because we as a consumer have worked hard in order to get the car of their dreams and that's the case for some people.you would think that to be dealers of a jaguar with stand for some type of integrity and responsibility and be the first to recognize the problem.

Parked on a slight incline at the bobops in estill, sc and the car would not come out of park, after a few tries, the gear floated and the shifter obviously had broken.this repair is going to run me 2200 dollars, jaguar should cover the total cost of this as well as should have issued a recall for this problem years ago.

2000 jaguar s type 3.0 , transmission continually slips, won't go into gear, won't down shift,; while pulling out into traffic, transmission will slip, engine will rev high, and then jump into gear.... Giving me a 'dead' vehicle until the transmission grabsvery unsafe -

I brought the vehicle about 6 weeks ago and the automatic transmission slips terribly and it's unsafe to operate on the road. I contacted a couple jaguar dealerships and was told that it would cost from $90.00-$110.00 to program a module that is listed on the service bulletin. Why should the owners have to pay for jaguar's flawed equipment to be repaired?

Dt:when parking on a hill the transmission locked and caller could not get vehicle out of park.caller broke the shift lever and had it replaced, but problem recurred.dealer said that was normal, and he would have to put emergency brake on beforeputtingit in park. But sometimes the problem happened even when he put on the emergency brake. Manufacturer claimed the same thing as dealer said.

I financed a jaguar in february 2008 and have had a problem from almost the beginning with the gearshift, getting out of park while on the slightest incline i've had to get out and rock the car just to get it into reverse and this is all the time.more recently i reversed out of my driveway without any problems but, when i tried to put it in drive it would not move forward, backward, or anywhere.i had it towed to the closest jaguar dealer who initially told me it may just be the gearshift cable needing to be adjusted a $150 job i said ok that sounds pretty good being a foreign car and all.i got a call back and he said it was the rear drive shafters needing to be replaced ok good not the transmission needing to be replaced........how much? i asked, about $3200....for about $2000 more i can get a whole new transmission, right? this is ridiculous and i think the jaguar manufacturer should look into this problem or atleast do a recall i mean how many complaints does it take..it should only take one to check it out this is not something that just happened it's has been ongoing since 2000 (i've done alot of research before writing this complaint) 8 years later and the problem is still here...i really wish jaguar would own up and try to accommodateeveryone's problems as best as they could..[xxx]

I have had 4 tranmission replaced in my 200 jaguar in the last 2 1/2 years and the light in own at this moment regarding the transmission light. I need some one to contact me regarding this.

Transmission will not shift from park.need to use the emergency brake or shifter jams.transmission gearbox light is on and car is not shifting.advised from dealer that the complete transmission needs replaced at a cost of over $5k. Known problem when searching on internet.sometimes the gear shifter will not come out of park.car bucks while trying to shift between 50 and 65 mph.

Purchased a 2000 s-type jaguar to find that there is a design flaw. As a previous automotive engineer, i can't believe that this can be allowed to exist. I parked my car on an incline and when i tried to leave i could not put it into 'reverse', or any gear. I pulled on the shifter thus breaking a pin, causing the shifter to 'free' float. I called jaguar's customer care, which is great, and found that they were going to have to tow my car to the dealership. During the problem solving questions they asked, they stated "was i on an incline". I responded "yes". They then proceeded to inform me that the "fix" was to get out of the car and rock it back and forth to release the pressure on the transmission/shifter. That on inclines the car will get stuck, so get out and push it. My car had the shifter completely replaced and the dealer was aware of this issue with this car. Since then i've had this happen 2 more times. I was told to put on the parking brake then shift to park while on any type of incline (> a few degrees). I've had that told to me by three jaguar customer service specialists. I love this car. Why can't they fix this! it's embarrassing and dangerous! someone can be seriously hurt.

Dt*: the contact stated the gearshift was difficult to shift into drive or reverse from the park position. The gear shift fractured while the contact attempted to shift the gear into drive.the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop. The service dealer and manufacturer were not contacted.

Dt*:the contact stated while parked on a hill with the front of the vehicle facing upward, the transmission locked up completely when a shift from park to drive was attempted.a service dealer was consulted, who notified the contact that this was a common problem, and that it was a factory defect.however, the vehicle was not taken in for service.updated 09/11/06.

Bought s-type back in october2006, since then car has been costing me a lot of money. Transmission get stuck in park at driveway with low inclination, even with the parking brake on before shifting to park. Had cable replaced and didn't fix the problem, cost me 350.00.i believe that a recall wasin order for the number of affected vehicles that i had noticed complaining of it at the nhtsa website, or maybe somebody in government was not doing his/her job protecting the consumer's rights against greedy corporations.

While parked on a hill with the front of the vehicle facing upward, the transmission locked up completely when a shift from park to drive was attempted. The gear shift was fractured and the vehicle had to be towed to a service dealer who informed me that this was a common problem, and that it was a factory defect.

While driving and without warningtransmission went out, causing vehicle to be inoperable.

The gear box and engine warning light came on. This occurred because of transmission failure. Transmission needed to be replaced. Prior to the lights coming on, when changing from park to drive vehicle jerked forward. Excessive forcehad to be applied.

We purchased a new s-type 2000 jaguar. The car now has 40,000 miles and has had three transmissions. Starting with the second transmission, i tried to get jaguar to step up to the plate and admit this car was faulty. Unfortunately nothing really happened. I just received a absurd "thank you for contacting jaguar" message.the car started having problems again about a month ago, i took it in and was told the car needed a new transmission. This would make the thrid. The car was also out of warrenty by three months which translated to my paying for the $6000 transmission. Again, i contacted jag corp and even got so far as to have a customer rep look into my case. They looked and declined any responsibilty. I got the transmission replaced and paid the 6 grand. The car has been out of the shop for three days. It has its third transmission. Yesterday, the car started making noise. I called the dealer and was told to have the car towed in. I was just notified that the car needs another transmission. This will make the fourth. The thrid one was only three days old before it went out. So far we are getting about 10,000 miles per transmission and all jag managed to offer was $1000 towards the third one.i can not believe any car manufacturer would think so little of its customers that they turn a cold eye to a car that so obviously has a major fault. Four transmissions in 40,000 miles and they continue to say it is not their fault. I wonder whose fault it is?i am very disppointed in the manufacturer and this model. I currently ampursuing other procedures to get a resolution to this ongoing problem that i have been trying to get jaguar to resolve for three years.

I purchased a 2000 s type jaguar 6/10/06, at the cal wholesale dealership in rio linda ca and just the following day already had problem with gear shift linkage. Dealership had it repaired at sam's auto repair however it continued to have resistance upon shifting. Reported problem advised to bring car in, and was told it was fine. 8/22/06 completely unable to shift from park to drive. Called dealership, who in turn called sam's auto repair, contacted me but i'm still waiting for them to tow it. I hope you can investigate and find out more why jaguar hasn't revealed these problems?

When vehicle is placed intodrive itwill buck into reverse first.acceleration power does not feel like it is controled bypedal when applied. Dealer has not been contacted.

I own a 2000 jaguar s-type with only 42k miles on it. I drive it only about 6 weeks a year as it is stored the rest of the year. My transmission is gone! my car has only been serviced by the piehler jaguar dealership. Without warning, the "gearshift box fault" light came on; the engine would bang and drag into gears. I was told that the gear shift box was sealed therefore disallowing anyone to add transmission fluid. Since my car has only been serviced by jaguar, why wouldn't the service manager have indication that the transmission was going. I asked the service manager if there has been any recalls on the jaguar transmission, and he told me no. That was not true as i have found recalls concerning the jaguar s-type transmissions. However, the jaguar manager wants customer to pay instead of dealer-pay for the replacement of a new transmission. The price quoted to me is $4,000 plus tax. I had the deluxe extended warranty and when it ran out, this dealership refused to renew another extended warranty. A car of this cost and caliber should not have transmission problems with mileage under 50,000 miles. I would like the jaguar /dealership/ or ford to replace the transmission due to the defective design in the transmission design. The car's error message indicated "gear shift box fault". I've been told that the jaguar transmissions were built by jaguar/bec transmissions with a flaw in the design. The jaguar dealership i have my car at is piehler jaguar in rochester, ny. The service manager's name is brian. The telephone number is 585.671.7909. I would like to have my car repaired due to this fault in transmission design and paid for by the dealership or ford or jaguar. Please advise. Thank you.[xxx] 2000 jaguar s-type owner.

2000 jaguar s-type has a defect in the transmission.if the vehicle is parked on a hill without the emergency brake on, the gears will get stuck and the vehicle either has to be drug down the hill to level ground for the gear to shift out or it has to be towed.the jaguar dealer has attempted to repair it twice unsuccessfully.

I leased a new 2000 jaguar s-type in april of 2000.since that time , the tranmission was faulty. Jaguar found the problem to be a faulty transmission and replaced it.since that time, i've experienced numerous problems related to the transmission. The main problem is a very serious safety issue dealing with the car rolling back while in drive. When on a moderate incline, the vehicle will roll back 10-15 feet while engaged in drive. The only way to stop this roll is to either gun the engine(which is also unsafe) or apply the brake and quickly give the car gas.this is occuring on a moderate incline!i have advised jaguar and the dealership to no avail.they have tried to fix the transmission 4 times now and still don't know what is causing this. The last time i brought the car in, the service manager(mike barnes) test drove it and the same problem happened to him. He tried to correct the problem and again their mechanics coulkd not do it.i then asked for a receipt stating he and i were in the vehicle when it rolled back 10 feet before aplying the brake and he would not do this for me. I then contacted the sales manager on call on april 2, 2000 @3p.m. And he said there was no reason why i couldn't have a reciept stating the car rolled back 10 feet with me and mr. Barnes in vehicle. After the sales manager questioned mr. Barnes numerous times on the issue, mr. Barnes stated and i qoute-"it is in the best interest of the dealership that i don't write a reciept stating this".i was present at the time of this statement and appalled that he would risk me life to cover for the dealership.idemanded a receipt and still did not receive on stating the roll back, instead he gave me one saying i was just there and every thing checked out to dealer specs.i said what is dealer specs and mr. Barnes stated he did not know. This is fraud and a cover up. I since have contacted a lawyer, lemon law office, center for auto safety, better business bureau and the states attor.*a

When parked on a hill i am not able to get the car into or out of park and reverse i have to literally have someone push or rock the car to get it out of gear, bergen jaguar in bergen new jersey said this is a common quirk with the 2000 s type jaguars with automatic transmissions.

The contact owns a 2000 jaguar s-type.whenever the contact parks on an incline, the gear becomes stuck in the park position.in order to move the vehicle, it must be pushed and rocked back and forth until it pops out of gear.occasionally, the vehicle can shift into reverse, which can be dangerous for those pushing the vehicle in the rear.the vehicle was taken to a dealer and they stated that this was a very common issue with the 2000 s-types; however, there was no recall or remedy.through research, the contact found numerous complaints related to this failure and believes that a recall should be issued.the failure mileage was 24,000 and current mileage was 65,000. On several occasions i've had problems with my 2000 s type jaguar. The transmission causes many safety problems. Such as not shifting, hesitation etc. Which could be a major safety issue while driving on the hwy. Once my fiance was driving the vehicle and the hesitation of the transmission caused him to slam into the curb causing major damage to the front end. I've also had the transmission gasket replaced at the dealership. Know its back in the shop awaiting a new transmission. Jaguar is not taking any responsibility of these problems. Several other jaguar owners have experienced similar problems. Thank you for your time.[xxx].

While parked on a slight incline the vehicle gear shift lever became stuck.towed vehicle to dealer, and consumer was informed right away what the problem was.

After parking car on an incline, parkingwould not release shifter. The vehicle had to be pushed forward to relieve pressure, but the shifter cable was damaged any way. Parking brake must be engaged to help relieve pressure. Since, faulty servo or hydraulic pump made 5th gear inoperable while driving on the interstate. This seems to be a recurring problem with this transmission. Also, two window regulators have been replaced and another just broke.

I own a jaguar 2000 s.i bought it in august 2003.i loved the car and it worked great.on april 11, 2004, i parked my car on a slight incline with the park break on.the car would not shift out of park.while trying to shift into reverse, the gear shifter broke.i was stranded with my two children.my car was towed to jaguar dealership in portland, oregon.they pushed on back of the car to get it to shift. The car is on warranty, so they replaced the shifter. I was told the only remedy was to use the park break while using the foot break, before shifting into park.i feel this is unacceptable.we are human and forget to apply our parking break before shifting into park.now, tonight, april 26; it happened again.we were parked on a hill.my husband had his foot on the break, did not remove it from the break and put it in park without using the park break.we were stuck again.jaguar told us to give the car a push from behind to shift it out of park; it worked.how embarrasing to have to push a car from behind, and how dangerous to push a car up a hill to get it to go into reverse.if the car rolled backwards for any apparent reason, it would have killed /or injured my husband and brother-in-law.i find this unacceptable.i do not want to be stranded with my children, just because i forgot to put on my emergency brake on or did not use it "correctly."it is dangerous for a woman with children to be put in this vulnerable situation where a "man" might not be present to give the car a boost up the hill.i am very frustrated and disappointed.i no longer want my beautiful car.i feel stuck.i could not sell this car in good conscience.

This is the third time i've had a problem with my 2000 jaguar s.1st was in may2005 while parked on a slight incline in my driveway the car would not shift out of park.after it set for a while, it shifted into drive. The same thing had happened a few months earlier when the car was being inspected.this time it was not on an incline, but the service technician had a hard time backing it out of the service bay.i took it to the dealership and they replaced the hand selector lever, gears, cable gear assembly.in august 2005 same problem happened again in my driveway.this time when taking it to the dealership, they replaced a missing bolt where transmission shift cable bolts to transmission.now that the car is no longer under warranty, the same thing happened again on 2/25/06 in my driveway."shaking" the car back and forth did something and i was able to get it out of park, but the only gear it would go in was a "manual 2nd" and reverse.i've called jaguar customer complaint line and the dealership.i was told by customer service that the original repair from may '05 has a one year warranty so it should be covered.however, i don't know if i'll be able to drive the car to the dealership and she could not authorize towing. I really believe odi should look into this problem before someone gets seriously hurt.

Through talking with jaguar and looking through this website, there have been many troubled by a design defect that has been under reported in this car.when parked in my driveway, which has a slight incline as many do, i could not put the car back into gear.trying to shift into gear caused the pin on the hand selector lever to break.it could not be taken out of park.had to tow the car to the dealer which is 40 miles away.i lost 1/2 day of work and missed appointments.i also had to rent my own car for 2 days until the dealer could fix it.dealer made it sound like it was my fault for not putting on the parking brake before i shifted into park.i read through allthe owners manual and there is no indication or warning to do so.i have never been informed otherwise.i asked the dealer who also said there was no mention of it.i have had several other cars parked in this driveway over many years with no problems such as this.the 2000 s typehas a design flaw which is not being handled properly by jaguar. I was just fortunate it was in my own driveway when it happened.hope i can always remember the unwritten sequence, apply foot brake, apply hand brake, shift to park, lift off foot brake and then cross your fingers.

Our 2000 jaguar s-type 3.0l sedan was parked on a slight upward incline with its gear selector in "park".when the car was re-started it could not be taken out of "park".after numerous tries to move the gear shift out of "park", the shift linkage was broken.the car had to be towed to the dealer for repair, costing roughly $2200, plus the towing fee.jaguar cars ltd. Investigated and then refused to accept any responsibility for this failure, but the dealer, cush jaguar in san diego, eventually agreed to cover half of the repair costs.this is apparently a common occurrence with this model.the san diego dealer told us that they have had "20 or 30" occurrences of this same problem.a search of the nhtsa website found 15 nearly identical occurrences reported to the odi. Thisis a safety issue, not only with respect to stranding a car's occupants, but also with respect to potentially blocking roadways and driveways used for emergency vehicle access and for emergency exits.i ask that the nhtsa at least require jaguar cars ltd. To inform owners of these vehicles of the existence of this problem and the steps they recommend to minimize its occurrence.but it would be preferable if the nhtsa were to issue a recall requiring jaguar to modify the faulty pawls in these transmissions.

Dt*: the contact stated, the gear shift would not release from the park position when parked on an incline. The manufacturer suggested rocking the vehicle to release the vehicle from park.the contact was injured, on one occasion, while rocking the vehicle as instructed.the manufacturer suggested using the hand brake before placing the vehicle into park. When accelerating the automatic transmission slipped from 1st gear into neutral and would not shift into 2nd gear. The transmission functioned properly when the vehicle was restarted. A service dealer inspected the vehicle, and could not duplicate the problem.the vehicle could not pass emissions testing due to problems with the vehicle.the consumer was has been treated for muscles strains from dealing with the vehicle. The left front light lens was broken.updated 09/11/06.

While away on a business trip my wife called to tell me that our 200 s type jaguar was inoperable and the gear shifter was "floating" - not able to shift out of park. Upon inspection i found that the gear shift lever was broken. I called the dealer in harrisburg pa and told them about the problem and the service advisor told me that since it was on an incline we should have used the emergency brake prior to shifting in to park. I asked if this was a common occurrence and he stated that i would have to get used to using the emergency brake with this vehicle and that it was a defect in the manufacturer of the transmission. I asked if this was a common occurrence and he stated - yes. I asked for a ballpark quote of what the repair would be and was told $400 for replacement of the shifter and $1200 for the transmission to replace a pin. I ordered the shifter part from the dealer and replaced and have used the emergency brake at all times - occasionally we still have shifter lock up and have to push on the rear of the vehicle to un jam the shifter.

Wow, it is reassuring to know that i am not alone in my complaint about a faulty park pawl although you would never know it by the way i have been treated by the dealership and the manufacturer!basically, i've been told that since the car is no longer under the original warranty, a manufacturing malfunction/flaw is my problem even though i have an extended warranty plan and an invoice from a prior service indicating that the park pawl is faulty.the problem was supposed to have been taken care of at that june 16, 2005, service.however, the same problem recurred in january 2006, costing me $1577 to have it fixed.the last time i had a problem was when i parked my car on the upslope of a driveway.when i attempted to take the car out of park, the park pawl would not release no matter what i did.after trying unsuccessfully several times to move the lever, it broke.aaa was unable to do anything and i had to wait until the following day for a mechanic and flatbed tow truck to come out from the dealership to remove the console and release the park pawl.it has since been replaced..............at my expense.i have written letters to the president of jaguar cars, the chief executive officer and chairman of the board of ford motor company as well as its board of directors and to the general manager of the dealership.no one is willing to accept responsibility for the replacement/repair.is there no recourse for the consumer even though it is under an extended warranty and the manufacturer is aware that there seems to be an ongoing problem with this specific part especially since it was brought to their attention several years ago as noted on the nhtsa website? how do i recoup an expense that i feel i should not be responsible for?

On august 12, 2003 while parked on a slight incline, the car would not get out of gear.this had occurred once before, however, another jaguar owner had this problem and reported she call a tow truck and when the car was removed from the incline the car went into gear.so, when it first happened to me, which was a couple of weeks prior to 08-12-03, i pushed it, it rolled and went into gear.well, the next time it happened it wouldn't get into gear, and the gear shifter broke.now, the car woujld go into gear and not move at all.had to call a tow truck on that saturaday to be towed to the service center.well, today is august 18, 2003 i am reporting this.the car is still in the shop.there was a "backlog" per the service center for this part.the "gear shifter" and/"transmission shifter".in plain common sense if parts of this nature are on such a backlog, then i would assume there is a problem with the issue of the transmission in this model jaguar.we need satisfaction as a consumer. I even have extended warranty with "smartchoice 2000", and they are in liquidation.the service center is telling me i am not insured and i have a contract stating so.that is another issue that will be complained about.

I parked 2000 s-type jaguar on hill and due to faulty shifter, the gear shift became jammed in park .i called jaguar assistance & was told i should have pulled up the handbrake before i placed my car in park.i asked if this was in the owner's manual & was told no.they also said i could have gotten someone to push the car from the back & it would have popped into gear.by this time i am appalledto find that the customer must go through all of this agony to get a luxury car into gear!obviously, they have thoroughly researched methods to correct this problem after it occurs.this lead me to question if a recall had ever been done to correct this defect that is prevalent in 2000 s-types or if a letter has been sent to the customers explaining there are special procedures that one must follow to prevent your jag from being stuck in park on a hill.i was never notified or informed that i must pull up the handbrake before i place the car in park. It is not fair to place the burden of fixing this problem upon the customer.whether i parked on a hill or on a flat level, my car should go into gear with no problem.before i could give the make & model of my car they asked if it was a 2000 s-type & i said yes.jaguar roadside assistance & the customer relations department stated that they get these calls frequently regarding 2000 s-types becoming jammed into gear.i asked if a recall had been done & they said no.i had my car towed to jaguar & they called to notify that it would cost me, the customer $661.00 to repair my car.i mailed a letter to jaguar customer relations stating it was no fault of mine that the car became jammed into park & was informed that since my car is no longer under warranty, jaguar will not pay for the repairs.a warranty is irrelevant when this is a prevalent problem in this model.i have done research & spoke other jaguar services here & was told the shifters are faulty in these models and a recall should have been done.

I was pulling into a stall at the treasure coast mall when we heard a loud thud when i got out to see what it was i seem that the tire was leaning in and pushed under the fender.i then had to call a tow truck and found out later that the left front ball joint completely snapped off and the right side was badly worn and loose and also had to be replaced. I just hate to think what would happen if that would have happend on the highway me and my wife were very shaken up. The car only has 47000 + which seems really strange for this to happen.

I have a 2000 jaguar s-type that was recalled for front control arm and lower ball joints back in november of 2000. However when i took it to the jaguar dealer to get replaced because mine is defective the dealer told me my vin# was not included in the recall.is there a specific reasoning behind having certain vin#'s recalled and not others? i would really appreciate if my vin can also be included because per the dealer my car is in serious jeopardy of malfunctioning while i'm driving which could end in an accident that can cause bodily harm up to and including death.can you please respond to my email regarding this issue.

Faulty window regulator in jaguar 2000 s-type.this is the third failure.both rear windows have failed and most currently front passenger window.

Automatic power window fell down while driving. The consumer stated the incident happened twice.

All 4 power window regulators have now failed. First one was under warranty - following were not. Called jaguar and was told that this is not a defect and is my responsibility. I feel that if all 4 window regulators have failed, it is a defect, and personnel at the jaguar dealership told me that it has been arecurring problem in the 2000 s-type jaguar.

Window regulator.

Third different broken window regulator.

The power window regualtors failed four times.*ph

For the third time one of the windows on my jaguar s-type has had a problem with the mechanism that opens/closes the window.the windows simply "falls" into the door.when you attempt to close the window there is a horrible crunching sound.the repairman said there has been problem with the brackets for these windows, which should have been recalled.

Three events of window mechanism breaking within a six month period.while parked tried opening window for air flow, all three times.dealer was contacted and repaired the three windows.no tests for defects were done. Replacements costs approx $600, $355 and half of the third window replacement cost was covered by the dealer.jaguar refused any statistics on this type of repair and refused referral to a supervisor.window tint was damaged in each case.jaguar refused any liability due to non-purchase of extended warranty, although extended warranty does not cover windows.

The outside mirror on the driver's side was replaced with an original equipment mirror from the dealer.the replacement mirror was convex rather than flat, creating a safety hazzard.the mirror did not have the "objects in mirror are closer than they appear" warning on it.there may be a batch of convex mirrors without warnings that can be installed on the driver's side.

In excess of $10k spent in a 24 month period on various repairs on my 2000 s-type.

Please provide more information. Ts

Six months ago i noticed a crack on the passenger side of the windshield.the crack was noticed hours after car was parked.two days ago another crack appeared on the driver side of the windshield.both cracks are similar in nature, and both are near the side columns at about 9.5 inches from the bottom of the windshield.dealer inspected the vehicle and dismissed any windshield manufacturing, or stress point defectsdue to chips on the glass.escalation to 1800-jaguar was not useful, as they only thing they did was act as a mediator to the dealer, instead of concerned with the reasons behind the cracked glass.*la

Front driver's side window fell out.has had it repaired 3 times. Also, rear view window fell without warning.

Consumer states about 3 days ago he noticed that there was a cracked in windshield, which is growing daily, about an inch and a half per day. Consumer states that after he took the auto to the dealer he was told that the cracked is called a stress crack. Ts

Incident 1: the windshield wipers has failed at least 10 times during a two year period.i have reported the incident to the manufacturer at least 5 times. Several of jaguar field service technicians has tried to repair the problem but with no success.after each attempts to repair the problem, i would check the windshield wipers for the next couple of weeks to make sure everything is ok but unfortunately they fail at the most hazardous times during stormy, rainy weather conditions.incident 2: i was rear-end in the center lane of two merging major expressways and the electrical system completely failed. It took the dealer 3 months to get the electrical system started. Incident 3: the vehicle will roll while in drive if i am on an incline.

I got a 2000 jaguar s-type from authorized dealer ("select edition") condition on june 9, 2004.son (driver) and his passenger were both belted july 2, 2004 during what he thought was a blowout. Car stopped perpendicular (afterfull spin) inopposite lane (facing east) from which it had been traveling (north).wheelsheared from axle/hub on right front! car on bare right front axle!my husband and i wereat scene in minutes, werejoicedno one was killed! no oncoming traffic!seat belts were important as my son state he "just held on." my husband recovered debris and sheared wheel placing same into trunk.one of these parts proved to be a broken brake, butnot thinking of analytical issues at this point---just thankful that fatalities were notresult. Unbending rain waiting fortow truck.the ncpatrol arrived at about 11:30 pmas the car was being dragged onto awrecker.they did not look at sheared wheel or rotor.the car was towed july 3 to the jaguar dealership.i visiteddealership on monday, july 5th to take pictureswhen greg carleton (jaguar service writer) showed me both sides of the wheel stating that "wear on the rims is what you'd expect"and "there's nothing you see that would have caused that wheel to come off." he (mr. Carleton) picked up the brake rotor and held it like a knife over an obvious gash inside the right front wheel. It seemed clear that the part pierced the alloy wheel. Obvious in the light;we were in a quandary when it occurred.he called the next day july 6 to saythat "all parts were covered" under warranty, that the factory would investigate the failure. Another personcalled on wed. July 7th and said "you may want to call your insurance company".jaguar has shifted from their position to test parts. There was nothing: not a pothole, not another vehicle, but severe damage that was a result of part failure. I haverequested jaguar to leave all partsin the trunk of the car.

While driving a loud noise came from the front the right front passenger side wheel sheared off. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and pulled over to the shoulder. Vehicle was towed to the dealer, andmechanic determined that the left and right upper and lower ball joints needed to be replaced.
