While drivingvehicle stalled. This failurecaused a collision.dealership serviced vehicle numerous times, andreplaced the main computer, accelerator motor, and several other components.but, problem recurred.
In october 2004, while driving 65 mph on the freeway, car automatically reduced power to 5 mph.deceleration of automoblie was pretty rapid.the vechile was brought to the isuzu dealership.a number of tests were run, but nothing was found.service department could not find any thing wrong with the vechile. On january 25, this happened again while driving on the freeway at 65 mph.the vehicle was towed to a isuzu service department.they replaced the acceleration sensor and said the vechile was fixed and picked up on january 27. On january 28, the vechile again lost power while driving on the freeway at 65 mph.the vechile was towed and brought into an isuzu dealership (same dealership as in october).they couldn't find any codes present and said the vechile was fine- couldn't find a problem. On january 31, the same occured.the vechile lost power while driving on the freeway.again it was towed to the isuzu service (same service department as january 25-27).they can not find out what the problem is.they called isuzu main help line and still have no answers.the isuzu corp. Suggested replacing the throttle body and if that doesn't fix the problem, then the electrical harness.still no guarantee that the mentioned services will fix the problem. Luckily, no accidents yet.vechile not safe to drive and isuzu will not cover any repairs even though loss of power is a safety issue.
Low beam headlight switch stopped working.only high beams worked.had to have the headlight switch replaced at a cost of $500.i see that the same problem is currently being addressed and recalled on later model isuzu ascenders and gm vehicles.i believe isuzu used many gm parts in this trooper and it should be included in the current recall so that i can get reimbursed for the repairs.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu trooper. The contact stated while entering and starting the vehicle, he noticed an extreme heat in the interior of the vehicle coming from the engine. The contact proceeded to shift the gear into drive however, while his foot was still on the brake pedal the vehicle independently accelerated. The contact had to pulled up the parking brake to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times afterwards. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic who diagnosed the failure as a bypass for the fuel line and brake line failure that needed to be replaced however, the mechanic was unable to determine the cause for the heat entering the vehicle from the engine. The mechanic was able repair the vehicle however, the contact was concerned that the heat coming from the engine would eventually destroy the engine and the vehicle would need to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.
My suv , isuzu trooper of 10years, was parked in a library parking garage and after ignition turned on, i put it in reverse gear to get out of the parking lot and the car rapidly reversed and before i could figure out and react, the car shot like a rocket towards the front , while still in reverse gear, and i had no control of the brakes or steering wheel, it rammed into a concrete pillar and got completely totaled. Airbags opened and front doors jammed and i had slide to the back to escape. Luckily, car did not catch on fire or explode. ( police report verify that after crash, car still found to be in reverse gear and suprised how car moved towards the front).a week ago, prior to this freaky crash, ( luckily no minors, seniors, homeless who usually walk in the parking lot were not present, otherwise, there would have been multiple deaths) my car dealership had done work on my car for nearly $1000.00. And they replaced mode switch for my automatic transmission ( thermostat changed; piston cover changed) and don't know what role it played in my car's crash. I am pretty sure its a malfunction . It needs to be assessed and figured what role the above installation played in the crash which could have had disastrous consequences. Was it due to defective part?insurance company blames it on me and say my premiums will be higher since its at fault accident despite hearing my experience and with evidence of police report which states that my gear was still in reverse. ( after crashing head on against a concrete pillar)thank you for keeping public safety first!
2001 isuzu trooper with faulty transmission accumulator and bad u-joint customer states that they want us to review the safety issues**nar**ccthe consumer stated having 3 separate issues with the vehicle the first being a bad u joint, the second being afaulty transmission accumulator and the third was having to replace a long engine block. The consumer was also informed the electrical hydraulic brake system needed to be replaced. The consumer stated recently requested a goodwill adjustment and was ultimately denied by the dealer due to the fact the vehicle was 40,000 miles over the base warranty.
Dt*: the contact stated when stopped during various road conditions, the vehicle shook and decelerated to 10 mph.also, all power failed, and the vehicle stalled.it was towed to the service dealer, who replaced the transmission for the third time for the same problems.the manufacturer was contacted.the dealership stated the transmission was leaking burnt fluid. The radiator had a low cooling efficiency. The abs sensor had to be replaced. Updated 10/30/06.
Massive oil consumption problem. Vehicle burnt about one quart of oil every 1000 miles. Filled vehicle with fuel and checked oil. Took 3 hr trip. On the way home engine started knocking checked oil and it was dry. No low oil warning light or anything.every shop and isuzu dealer says must have new engine $6500 dollars. Vehicle only has 85,000 miles. 2nd owner since 21,000 miles. Warranty for second owner is 60,000 miles original owner 100,000 miles. No engine has been replaced cost to much money. Vehicle is stilling in driveway.
I own a 2001 isuzu trooper that started using excessive oil (1+ quarts every 1000 miles) at 54,000 miles.i have found numerous complaints about this starting when isuzu introduced the 3.5l v6 engine.my research has shown the problem to be a bad design change of the oil ring not allowing oil to drain properly.isuzu is terrible to work with and fights to not honor warranties.why has this not been investigated by nhtsaafter all the complaints received about this problem?isuzu has terrible customer relations and does not stand behind their vehicles when there is a problem.still battling with isuzu and bbb.
The engine failed and the manufacture stated they were not going to assist because the vehicle was not properly taken of, after the consumer provided the manufacture with the necessary paper work, they still declined any financial assistance.
When accelerating into traffic vehicle hesitated, which nearly caused a rearend collision. Dealer replaced throttle valve and fuel pressure regulator and abs sensor which did not correct the problem. Dealer has tried 6 attempts to repair problem.
We have had to add 1-2 qts of oil every couple thousand miles although we did not see an oil leak (no marks on the driveway) mechanic could find no oil leak or problem our check engine light has been on,and mechanic said we neededemissions sensor replaced. We did replace it. On our way to thanksgiving in oklahoma from michigan our engine blew ! we are now without that vehicle but still making payments. A dealership in tulsa said that those engines are replaced a lot at his shop due to this problem. He said that there is carbon build up in the valve that goes to the engine causing the oil to burn up. After so long of it being built up it gets clogged and ends up blowing. He said if we had been taking the car to an isuzu dealer to get the oil changed they know about it and can clean it. Problem for us is there isn't an isuzu dealer in the city we live in so we didn't have a chance. I believe isuzu should have sent a letter to trooper owners notifying them of this defect so as not to have to go through this problem since it can be avoided.

The truck experiences unwanted acceleration with cause not being able to be duplicated by dealership.the dealership has worked on the truck four seperate times which the condition still persist.the isuzu technical assistance line was contacted by the dealership to help pinpoint possible cause.please describe details.*mr

When vehicle is engaged in first gear itwill then move a short distance and pop out of gear.
When you stop at stop sign or light the transmission shifts into neutral.whenever you push on the accelerator it jerks and takes off.sometimes it takes a few minutes to shift in gear.it is in the shop right now. The mechanic said it has transmission problems.
Dt:the vehicle is a 2001 isuzu trooper.transmission has been replaced twice.the first time consumer took it to the dealer it was skipping or stalling like it was not getting enough fuel.whenpushingthe gas pedal the rpms went up.then, transmission was replaced on 7-31-2004.the second time he took the vehicle to dealer wason 6-28-05.this time the problem was about the same as before.consumer was told that there was internal problems with the transmission.he took the vehicle back a third time on 7-18-05.the vehicle is at the dealers right now waiting for the transmission part to come in so that it can be replaced.
I bought my new automobile on the 24th of june 2001. On april 24, 2004 the trooper broke down and i had it towed to sheehy chevrolet dodge isuzu dealership. Before the truck broke down the transmission light and engine light came on. At this time the truck had 56,680 miles on it. I picked the truck up on april 28, 2004 from the sheehy dealership.i paid sheehy $173.22 for the repairs they made andrented a car which cost me $175.61.on may 3, 2004 i took the truck to lindsay chevrolet to be repaired because the engine light had come on and the truck felt like it was about to brake down again. At this time the truck had 56,777 miles on it.on may 11 2004 i took the truck to brown''s buick and isuzu dealership because the engine light had come on again. At this time the truck had 57,140 miles on it. This time the repair work cost me $584.32.on july 22, 2004, i took the truck in for a oil change and told the service consultant about the truck not running right. Near the end of 2004 ( not sure of the exact dates) i had the truck towed to the brown''s dealership. The brown''s dealership had to order a transmission. It took nearly a month for them to get the transmission and repair the truck. So i had to renedt a car. July 5, 2005, i had the truck towed back to browns because the past problemswere happening again. Brown''s dealership replaced the transmission once more. I picked the truck up about closing time on the 14th of july 2005. As i was driving home i experience the same problems again. On july 18, 2005, i had the truck towed back to browns. At this time the truck has around 76,000 miles on it. July 20, 2005, max hahne, the service consultant called me and said another transmission is on order because of internal failure in the transmission. So my truck is at the dealership waiting to be fixed again.should the isuzu corporation or the dealership reimburse me for rental car expenses and or replace the truck because they have a defective product?

While driving down a mountain at 15 mph in heavy traffic, brakes overheated, causing loss of braking ability. Dealer cannot identify the cause of problem.
While driving 65-68 mph the vehicle vibrates and emits a humming noise upon light acceleration, the vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician test drove the consumer's vehicle as well as two other 2001 isuzu's and the same noise was present, the technician believed the noise was normal in comparision to the others and no repairs were made, possible suspension problem.nlm
Unwanted acceleration - the vehicle accelerates spontaneously while driving and contine to accelarate or hold steady speed without depressing the accelerator causing the driver to have to continually depress the brake pedal in order to slow the vehicle.while trying to stop it will continue to rev and then suddenly rev down causing the vehicle to suddenly lurch down because of the pressure on the brake.the vehicle will start at normal rpm's and then surge when the vehicle is put in gear (forward or reverse).it has been to the dealer four times and the dealer cannot identify or repair the problem, twice in july of 2002, once in august of 2002, and most recently in july of 2003.
When coming to a stop at traffic light vehicle unexpectedly accelerated with throttle fully open. Cause unknown. Dealer cannot identify problem. Consumer states the vehicle would not start at first attempt and rough idle on various occasions.
