We purchased the vehicle on march 12, 2014. After purchase , saturday march 15 we drove tbe isuzu at highway speed. The vehicle began to shake loudly and vibrate. We pulled over. Returned to home at 65 to 45 mph without shaking. Monday i reported this frightening event to the dealership. I requested repair or replacement. The salesman promised repairs. A pre-purchase disclosure was that the fuel gauge did not work. Sales staff assured me this had been, or would be fixed by the dealership. Prior to the first scheduled repair visit,i reported that the horn does not work and that the air bag was uncovered. The dealership covered the air bag but told me afterwards they had no way to verify if the air bag is functional. There is no air bag icon on the dash. I repeatedly reported these safety issues to sales staff and general manager [xxx]. The manager told me "while it is on the lot it is my problem. Once you drive it off it is yours." after three repair visits, and two months of generic "we will take care of you"-- none of the primary safety problems have been fixed. My vehicle, which i am making payments on, is unsafe to drive on the highway. Without a horn, possibly unsafe to drive in town.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
I had issue with my '04 isuzu rodeo for about a year now different issues. First my engine is eating up all the oil. I got an synthetic oil change on feb7 and on mar8 the stick had no oil i took it back and they topped everything but they couldn't find a leak unless the engine was consuming the oil last year i took my car in to suzuki dealer ship because of the oil issue and they couldn't find any problems they just change the starter. 2nd issue one day i was driving on a texas hwy going about 55 because it was a windy day and my truck just jerked like if i slammed on the brakes and all the lights lit up but the check engine, reduce speed, tire pressure and the low gas tank stayed on for a long time. When i schedule it to be look at they couldn't find anything wrong with the truck even though i had videos of the problem hopping while driving on thehwy.3rd issue im having an issue switching gears. For example my truck is parked for over an hour and when i need to out my truck on park or reverse its stuck. I'm pushing on the brakes and sometimes it won't budge until after 5 mins or so4th issue i'm not any having of the previousissue mentioned @ time except for when i put the truck in reverse it starts to putting & shake like when you run out of gas or completely turn off
Cup of coffee was in cup holder.was spilled accidentally onto console.appears all the electrical modules are under the cup holder with no protective cover.caused transmission controller module to short circuit.check 4 wd light. 4l kept flashing, abs light and check engine light all stayed on.vehicle didn't want to run at first.after he stayed running sounded as if a fire engine siren was behind me winding down.no fire truck.....appears it was the 4wd.appears that a cup holder should not be placed where there are electrical components, especially if those components have no protection from liquid if spilled in that area.
Electrical issuesrear driver side passenger window will not always go uo or down from master control on driver door. Front passenger window when going up will not go up straight but at a slant as if beginning to fall off track. On 3 occasions vehicle has not started due to alarm? turn signal (left) does not function properly, keeps popping out of place.
Driving at 35 mph in heavy fog during early morning hours (vehicle had been warmed up for 5 mins prior to leaving driveway), tachometer "jolted" (up and down bouncing on the dash display) approx 3 times within a distance of one mile or less at that speed, tach needle came to rest each time at 0 rpm, then finally never registered or moved again. Never had happened before. Note:took the rodeo through high pressure automatic carwash the evening before, noticed when the high pressure soap was applied as i sat in the vehicle, soap came through onto my heavy duty mats from under the passenger side fire wall area.the soap puddled onto the mat, was dry this morning when i got in to come to work this morning. Then the tach failure occurred.the leaking or weeping has never happened in any car wash before last night.
The contact owns a 2004 isuzu rodeo.while the vehicle was being serviced for an unrelated repair, the mechanic noticed that the brake line was rusted and caused brake fluid to leak.the mechanic also stated that both of the rear brakes, calipers, and brake lines needed to be replaced.a non-certified mechanic performed a temporary repair on the vehicle to stop the brake fluid leak.in addition, the contact had to make several attempts to remove the key from the ignition switch.the manufacturer was not notified.the vin was unavailable.the approximate failure mileage was 89,000.

On approximately 2/8/13 i was on my way to work when the engine light came on, when i went to pull off the highway and onto an exit ( to get off of the highway.) i pressed the brakes, and the brakes and steering locked up , i had no control of my suv as it hit the jersey barrier. The right front headlight and fender hit 1st then the right rear side and back fender scraped against the barrier. I was seat belted although still received injuries of my left ankle, knee, neck and back. The body shopinsurance adjuster said it was a total loss. Since 2006 my engine light has been coming on and when taking to repair shops they said there was nothing wrong with my suv and made the engine light somehow go off. I have written to the american isuzu co over the past 6 or 7 yrs although have never heard back from them in regards to the engine light coming on from 2006 until 2/8/13.

The fuel gauge does not always register the correct level and "check engine" light stays on constantly. The air conditioning fan stops blowing for days.
The contact owns a 2004 isuzu rodeo. The stated that the intake manifold gasket has blown 3 times since the vehicle was purchased.the manifold has been replaced once under warranty, the second time under the extended warranty, and now the manifold has blown while driving 25 mph again and the warranty has expired.the contact would like for the manufacturer to be responsible for the repairs since this is a manufacturers defect. The failure mileage was 104,000.
Vehicle turn on light: check engine and power reduced.this bad function in the vehicle make problem when increment speed, showing lost power.this problem is not steady and some time it reset and start function normally, but time after fail come again.
Recurring reduced power light comes on and the car will not move faster than 10 mph, effectively disabling vehicle, could be very dangerous; the "problem" comes and goes at random.
I bought a 2004 rodeo in july 2008 with 50,000kms on did a further 10, 000 kms and found it started to burn oil took it to eagers holden newstead where i bought it they kept saying we will see how it goes took it back several times to get fixed the last time said i dont want it back until its fixed then they say the motor need replacing 2 weeks after the warranty runs out they said they would cover $1,000 but it will cost a further $11,000 to fix.
Air conditioner freezes.

2004 isuzu rodeo. Consumer writes in regards to rusted metal bracket straps, bolts and horizontal jacket. *ldthe consumer stated due to rust the fuel tank dropped below the car frame at an unsafe angle, very close to complete detachment.
There was a strong smell of gas while the vehicle was being driven. Upon arriving at destination there was a big leak of gas coming from under the vehicle. The rest of the tank leaked out.
Dt: contact statedwater splashed underneath the vehicle and got into the fuel tank.the dealer said this problem was due to submerging the vehicle into water. They suggested installing splash guard.the service dealer dropped the fuel tank and cleaned the fuel system. The repair was not covered under the warranty.updated 12/14/2005.the water got into the tank through the vapor/charcoal canister.the vehicle had never been submerged in water.the consumer explained that since she lives on a dirt road water accumulated in the bumps on the road which the splashes onto the undercarriage of the vehicle.the consumer purchased the suv specifically for the rainy season and expected that the vehicle would perform as well as the 1997 isuzu which she owned previously.the 1997 rodeo never had this problem.the consumer requested reimbursement from the manufacturer.
We purchased a 2004 rodeo fromhonda at their used car service. The sticker had on it as is warranty.upon returning home we noticed the paperwork we signed did not have a signature on it.they were notifed and that the price was wrong also, they did nothing. A few days later i noticed that the car seemed like it had a flat tire. When we checked it, it was o.k. But it felt different when driven. The next day i noticed that the car was leaning slightly to the left.i went and spoke with the manager and explained it to him and he informed me to bring it in the next day and they would put it up and look at it. Thenext day i was ill and called and went the following week. Another manager did not do that, but rather drove it and said it felt fine. I insisted that there was something different. He stated he could hear nothing.a week later it is raining heavily and this car is very unstable feeling.i call the salesman and tell him that the steering feels loose andand something is wrong.the salesman was short with me and said "you are just used to driving your bmw". I told him that he was wrong and there was something wrong with it. He told me "take it to isuzu". This was well within the 30 days. Later on driving over 60 the car steering would shake and it felt terrible and unsafe. I go to honda and insist something is wrong, but no one will put it up and look at it!!. We get the papers out and discover where caliper pins were done, and back brakes and pads done. Then we findout about the recall in 2005 for the fuel leak and possible fires? they never disclosed this to us. We just put back brakes on and they said they were disengrated? the shocks gone, strut re-assembly adjustment? 1400 miles later, they said they did that already?honda said we drove with the emergency brake on? for 1400 miles? they told us the brakes were bad! that they had nearly holes in them.no wonder!do i have any re-course against them. Does this fall under consumer fraud?
Gas gauge bad.it always went down in a non-linear fashion.after 3 years, it shifted by 1/4."empty" meant 1/4 full.on a well below empty tank i could only put in 12 gallons into the 19 gallon tank.full meant just past the 3/4 tick.
The fuel gauge does not always register the correct level and "check engine" light stays on constantly. The air conditioning fan stops blowing for days.

We bought a 2004 isuzu rodeo mid-october, 2004.within a week of having the car, the rear end was making a very loud humming noise when i took my foot off of the accelerator.it happened when decelerating at about 45-55 mph.we took the car into the isuzu dealership and the service department decided they would have to replace the entire rear end - on a week-old car!we tried to get them to give us a new vehicle, but they stood by the fact that all the paperwork that we signed for ownership was for that car and that car only.they would not replace the vehicle, so they replaced the rear end.the noise did not go away with the new rear end, and we have taken it in a few times since then and they have not been able to fix anything.once they told us that they didn't know what was causing the noise and that we should drive it for another few thousand miles and see if it goes away.it never did.we brought it in a third time a few months ago and they again replaced the rear end, but the noise did not stop and it actually sounds worse.it has been about a year and a half since we bought the car and nothing has changed.
While drivingthe vehicle on the freeway if i would let off the gas itwould almost come to a complete stop, something just didnt feel right. I decided to exit the freeway , and not more than a few seconds after there was a loud boobing noise and alot of smoke, i immeditley pulled to the right andthe vehicle came to a jolting stop . At first i was unsure of what it was until i saw all the oil. I looked under my vehicle , and the drive line thatwas conectedto the rear end was completely detached and laying on the ground. The tow truck driver said the rear end seemedto be locked. And that it was confirmed when he was unloading it from the tow truck the tires wouldn't turn. This was not something that should just come apart on a vehicle. It didn'thave normal wear and tear. This has to be some sort of factory defect.
On the night of the 22nd of march 2005, i went to the potamkin dealership to buy an izusu rodeo, they told me that the only vehicle they had was on that they were use it as a demonstration, that they will give me a good deal on it, the vehicle had a noise on it but they told me that was nothing that they will make the necessary adjustments. The next day i brought the vehicle back, and i told them that the noise was very bad and that i will bring the vehicle back, the vehicle had 2783 miles on it and the diagnosis was that they sold me a car with a bad transmition, i was 5 days without a car to go to work. The problem was generated when the dealer instead of exchange the car, they will fix it and put a new transmition, i haven't hear from them, and for what i observed the service is very poor, i think that they should it exchange the vehicle, without questions ask, they new that the car wasn't ready for sale, but they choose to set up a new salesman that he saw the oportunity to make business with me, also i called the credit union to try to stop the check, but for one night to the other morning the dealer cashed the check, they couldn't do anything to help me. I really need help from you to get my car back and in good condition, this people are crooks in what they did, i wouldn't sale a car that has mechanical failures.

My vehicle is operated in minnesota where road salts are in constant winter use. On august 21, 2019 my mechanic hoisted my suv and we watched with surprise as some flat rust slabs fell to his shop floor. He looked above the fall location: the spare tire is attached just below a well, and within the spare-tire wheel-gaps were additional loose rust slabs that had not yet fallen. They were removed. The mechanic then pondered a likely cause: he reasoned the metal plate (and/or the areas alongside it) that helps secure the spare tire might be excessively rusty. To see it he had to insert his head up into the well, but which did not give him enough of clear view to assess the matter adequately (nor could i manage to get much of a look). He reasoned that minnesota winter-salt road-spray can reach the well (he said there might be something there called a carrier assembly of parts) and corrode the plate, making it possible for the spare tire to come loose while my suv is motion, creating a road hazard.we did photography but did not have a flexible-neck camera to insert up into the well. So all we have are snaps of 1) many of flat rust slabs that fell down during the mechanics inspection (shown as a pile on the floor just below the spare tire?s well location) in one photo, and 2) an upward shot at the spare tire with some rust slabs that had not yet fallen, which also offers a general look of wheel and well rust conditions that we saw. Lastly, i decided to visit nhtsas website to look for similar incidents that might pertain to my vehicle. I came up with id #10649039. It offers a somewhat similar textual narrative describing rear frame rust conditions that makes mention of a spare tire.i created a pdf of photos and incident id #10649039, which i will upload after this pdf. It will be titled part2_ijn5-55344_isuzurodeo2004tiresupportfailurevin[xxx].pdf.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

While driving 2004 isuzu rodeo vehicle vibrates, rear seat make noise and cd players is not working. The consumer was told the tires were feathering, even though the previous mechanic stated they only needed to be rotated.
Vehicle turn on light: check engine and power reduced.this bad function in the vehicle make problem when increment speed, showing lost power.this problem is not steady and some time it reset and start function normally, but time after fail come again.
Rear of the frame is rotted and crumbling, so there are holes in the frame that are keeping it from being safe, and thus will not pass state safety inspection. The areas affected support such things as the panhard/track bar, body, bumper, spare tire, evap components, rear tow point, as well as others items.

(1) events leading up to failure: on three separate occasions, my 2004 isuzu rodeo 2wd vehicle suddenly accelerated forward while my foot was on the brake pedal.(2) failure and its consequences: all incidences occurred while waiting at either a stop light or sign. Had i not had my foot firmly on the brake pedal, the vehicle would have lunged forward and either hit the car in front or a pedestrian in a crosswalk.(3) what was done to correct the failure: on june 26, 2006, i took the vehicle in to the only authorized isuzu dealership on the island of oahu to investigate the problem. After checking the car over for two full days, they were not able to resolve the issue. The dealership claims that i would need to recreate the scenario for them to fix the problem.note: potential related incident: on may 4, 2006, the vehicle was taken in to the same dealership due to the check engine light coming on. The cause: inoperable cruise control which required light general repairs (1900 diagnosis).
The contact owns a 2004 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that while driving at 70 mph, the check engine and the vehicle reduced power warning lights illuminated. In addition, the vehicle stalled. The contact also stated that the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the high pressure fuel pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 158,880.
I was on the interstate and as i pressed the accelerator to increase my speed-i was currently going 55-the accelerator got stuck.the vehicle continued to increase in speed-during rush hour, but i managed, after pressing the brake hard 4 times, to un-stick the accelerator. I ended up going 80 mph and avoided a crash but this alarmed me as this has never happened to me and it is as if the vehicle had a "mind of its own".especially after recent deaths in the cases with toyota.i contacted isuzu and i was told that they have not issued any recalls on this issue.i asked if this were to happen in my vehicle again or if a dealer were not able to fix it what would be the course of action, and i was told that i would be responsible for making that financial decision since my warranty is up.i am sure the first one to have this same type of mechanical error in a toyota was told the same thing and look where it got them!
On 01/07/06 at approximately 1:30 a.m. The rear window in my 2004 isuzu rodeo shattered for no apparent reason. The window contained a rear window defroster which was used earlier that night to defrost the window, and had been turned off earlier.
