Airbag light is on and off . Went for inspection twice paid $99 dollars for the place to fix for inspection and light is back on again. He said the air bag may need to be replaced
I was turning onto a street. The street was covered in oil or some type of slick element. I skidded and fell into a ditch. My airbag did not deploy.
Consumer was driving between 65-67 miles per hour in light-rain conditions trying to exit into another lane when the 2001 isuzu rodeo began to hydroplane and the consumer noticed immediately that the braking system was not working.the consumer loss all control of the vehicle when it then spun out in a 360 degree radius and hit into a cement barrier.the rear end of the 2001 isuzu rodeo was the first impact.after colliding into the cement barrier at unknown speed the 2001 isuzu rodeo spun out again in a 360 degree radius where it was then hit by 2 other vehicles.the first vehicle impacted the 2001 isuzu rodeo on the left-frontal corner (driver's side)and the second vehicle impact is not known.though consumer was wearing seat-belt restraint, consumer noticed the frontal air bags did not deploy.
Dt: there was an accidentand no airbags deployed. The car was equipped with front air bags. There was no warning lights on to indicate a problem. Last time the car was checked there was no indication of a problem. The driver was the only person injured with a tooth knocked out.
I hit another vehicle from behind (the front right, driver's side of my vehicle struck the right rear of the other vehicle) at about 30 miles per hour. Because my airbag failed to deploy, i suffered bilateral jaw fractures and lacerations to the inside and outside of my lower lip area where my teeth went through my skin (10-12 sutures were needed on the inside and outside for this laceration) and another 15 sutures were needed to repair a laceration resulting from the inside of my mouth ripping apart where the lower gums meet the skin of my chin. Because the impact of the accident was enough to total my vehicle right at the driver's area where i was seated, i believe the airbag was defective since it should have deployed and protected my face from these injuries.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.while driving 65 mph with the cruise control activated, the contact was involved in a high impact vehicle crash.the median on the highway sustained property damage.the vehicle was destroyed.the air bags failed to deploy.the dealer has not been notified.the contact sustained moderate injuries to his neck and shoulders.a police report was filed.the current and failure mileages were 97,000.the consumer provided pictures of the vehicle. While driving down the highway my engine shut off, then turned on again , revving the engine up as though i was pressing the gas pedal harder.this happened again about five miles further down the road. Has continued to happen off and on at different intervals. When the instrument panel lights go off i can hit the steering column just below the key and the vehicle will restart and the panel lights come on again.
I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo. I noticed the check engine light was on a few days after purchase. Dealer sent us to his mechanic who fixed it. A few weeks later it happened again, he fixed again many times. Eventually he said there was probably a problem with the sensor and not to worry about it, so i didn't. The abs light came on about a year later and i had it addresses when i had my brakes checked. The guy that did my brakes told me i could have it fixed or just ignore it, that it was not important. The next thing that went out was my air conditioning and heating system. I ended up paying 1300 to get fixed in the summer of 2014. The next thing was the rear wiper stopped working. I still have not replaced that. Shortly after the wiper stopped working i noticed the cruise control & the brake lights would not work when the lights were on, i no longer drive at night. Last year the gas gauge stopped working, i have to keep up with my mileage to figure out if i need to fill up. Just recently experienced the engine starting to stall. I was driving on the freeway going about 70. I had my heater, radio and wipers on for the rain. I decided to turn on the headlights because it was starting to get a little dark and just when i turned them on the dash lights faded and the car started to slow down like it was not getting any power. I quickly turned the lights off and the car went back to normal. This was very scary, i was afraid to turn my lights back on. Once i got off the freeway and was going into the mountains, the fog was to dense to ignore the lights. I turned them on this time without a problem. I know i did not have brake lights, thankfully i was more or less on the road alone. After researching this car i see thousands of people with the same problems. I think we should start a class action law suit.
2001 isuzu rodeo - reduced power light came on and car would not go over 5 miles per hour.
The incidents all happened on or before november 28th, 2005. The situation had gotten worse and that is when i took it in to the dealership. When traveling down the road the suv would either stall out when slowing down to a stop or die when you are trying to turn into a parking space. We had family in the rodeo on numerous occasions when the vehicle would stall out when hitting the brakes hard when someone would pull out in front of you. The engine would die while traffic was coming towards us. It would idle roughly and when you would let it warm up for a good ten minutes, trying to place it in gear will kill the engine. I took it to crest isuzu thinking it was the fuel pump that was replaced not too long ago since it was acting the same way. The service advisor told me it was the wire harness that runs from the engine to the gas pedal. Phil explained this to me after he gotten the report from the service technician. He even told me that isuzu knew that the way the system was designed (the wiring harness was laid out) that when the vehicle goes over a bump or hits a pot hole, it would cut the wiring, causing it to short out. I went for the repairs, which cost me over 400 dollars. The vehicle is doing the same thing again. As consumers, we shouldn't have to put up with something like this. They knew it was a design flaw. We are continuing to have this problem. It's a safety issue because the vehicle dies in traffic and you don't know when it will do it again. There is no telling how many consumers have been raked over the coals on this issue and have not spoken up on this.
I purchased my 2001 isuzu rodeo used in april 2012, about a week after i had the vehicle it started stalling out while i was driving, loosing complete power for a few moments then would jerk and continue going. I also noticed when i would hit a small bump and try to apply the brakes i heard a grinding noise and it would not stop for a few feet, even with the brake all the way to the floor. Also when i stop i hear a popping noise in the rear, everytime i stop. Now the vehicle is completely dying at random times. It will die when i am on the interstate going a steady speed, or accelerating. Also when i come close to a complete stop to turn the vehicle will die. I put it in neutral and it starts right back up and jerks while speeding up. I have almost t-boned someone due to the car dying and the loss of power steering. Also i have almost been rear ended numerous times because of the car stalling out and also dying. Also after having the car a couple weeks the speedometer and odometer quit working and the light for the speedometer will not work either.
Dt: the contact stated while the vehicle was at a certified dealership theabs brakesfailed. The mechanic was backing the contact's vehicle out of the garage and the abs light illuminated. When the abs light illuminated the mechanic depressed the brake pedal. However, the abs did not engage. The vehicle crossed the road and ran through a garage door of another business. After the crash the ignition was turned off and restarted. Once the vehicle was restarted the abs light was not illuminating and the vehicle operated normally. The certified service dealer stated tissues an electrical problem ,and will be performing diagnostic testing on the vehicle. No repairs have been made at this time. A police a report was takenat the scene. Vehicle sustained minimum damage.
Stationary at park driveway, woke up early morning to go to work as i go to my car my key remote will not work i have to manually key in car to open door.put the key and start the car nothing happened. Found outbattery was dead, buy new one still not starting found out the alternator nor working and the main fuse was blown.replaced new fuse and alternator andtry to start, 15amp fuse blown on my panel cluster gauge not working although car start and the battery was not charging. Everytime i put a new 15amp fuse for panel it will blown. I guess there must be something an electrical short or ground that blow fuse on panel and also not charging the batteries. Any help on recall i had my car for 15 years i never been to any recall on this car.
While in motion and with out any warning, the vehicle suddenly slowed down and stopped in the highway.consumer had to push the vehicle off onto the shoulder to avoid an accident.the vehicle was towed to a service shop where it was diagnosed as a poor connection at h-7, and the connector was replaced.the mechanic informed consumer that this was a factory defect. *jg
On several occasions my rodeo has lost lights, power, ac.this has caused the vehicle to stop and not start.
On 12/27/2005, our 2001 isuzu rodeo stalled in the middle of an intersection.after towing it to crest isuzu in plano, tx, the service representative informed me there was a short in the wiring harness.the cost of repair (labor included) is $1,300. After speaking with the repair technician (mechanic), he informed me this is a common problem with isuzus and they have yet placed a recall.he informed me the wiring harness controls the electronic throttle control, which tells the engine how much gas/acceleration is needed.in other words, the throttle control can tell the engine to "gun it" whenthe driver is braking.according to alldatapro.com, bulletin #ib00-04-s006refers to the electronic throttle control, however, with no mention of the wiring harness.as stated earlier, however, the technician stated this is a common problem that isuzu will continue to ignore unless enough affected consumers come forward to register their complaints.per additional research, this is a known design defect.prior to this final incident on 12/27, we have had several other issues with the acceleration; however, it quickly disappeared and we thought nothing of it.
I'm having the following electrical issues with my rodeo. Intermitently, the cruise light button turns on, then the cruise light indicator turns on, then the check transmission light turns on.at that same time all the indicators are on the truck hesitates as if the transmission is slipping.this most frequently occurs after coming to a complete stop, however has occured while crusing. Thus far the technicians have replaced
My 2001 isuzu rodeo that i have had for 9 years has never really given me any problems until this year. This exact incident has occurred on three different occasions now. I will be driving, the speed does not matter, sometimes it is 30, 50, or 80 mph, and the car will just start losing power. First the dash and all my gauges will go out, then the motor will start to sound funny and start losing power. Then as i make it to the side (thankfully every time) it just stops running and everything shuts off. I try to re-crank it and it won't turn over. I will turn my flashers on and even then they run at an extremely reduced rate and sometimes not at all. I have replaced my battery, the wiring to my alternator, my alternator, and my egr valve. I don't know what else to fix and i need the problem diagnosed so i'm not spending money fixing things i don't need and spend money on the actual issue getting fixed.
We purchased a 2001 isuzu rodeo on november 23 2012 we did not drive the vehicle very much and december 14 2012 i turned a corner and the reduced power light came on and i could not go over 40 mphthe code showed up for the throttle position sensor and the agr valve we replaced both and this did not correct the problem i looked up online about the problem and found out that there is a known wiring issue and we found the known area (diagram)online and we did find were someone had tried to fix the wires after moving the wires around slightly the reduced power light went off. The car was unusable for the month of december we were able to use it in jan. Of 2013 but we were using the car in feb 2013 we were going up an incline and the reduced power light came back on and again we could not go over 40 mph we got home and we moved the wires and the light went off we used the cara twice then the third time we used the car we hit a small pot hole while turning a corner and the reduced power light came back on and again could not go over 40 mph we have not been able to use the car since this. I turned on the vehicle to see if the light went off and while in park it tried to excellerate on its own and we have not been able to find the wiring problem yet .if this is a know problem why has there not been a recall .
The instrument panel lights go off, corrosion in 6 months time in odd places and under car, key gets stuck in ignition, key has to to be juggled to start car, emission issues, smell of insecticides, computer issues, if you lay a towel on the dash, or park in front of a mirrored window, or leave the headlights on for less then aminute when the car is off,the car won't start (kills battery). Something appears to be draining the power. Sometimes the car will start back up on it's own, but mostly needs a jump.the battery has tested fine.fuel gage quit working, check engine light used to go off when you fill the gas tank up, but now it just stays on.the car runs rich when it's down to half a tank. Rear view mirror light would not turn off, had to yank the wire out of it.help!
2001 isuzu rodeo developed problems with stalling.***no answer required***. *mreach time the vehicle was taken to the dealer they claimed it was a sensor problem and replaced it.this correct the problem for a few month but eventually the vehicle began to stall again. The dealer was finally about to determine that the computer was defective and had burned out the wiring harness.the consumer believes the dealer knew what the problem was all along but didn't want to repair it while the vehicle was still under warranty.
Was trying to get car through inspection but couldn't get the check engine light and fuel light off.i explained to my mechanic and he said you need a new fuel pump.i made an appointment and when he put the car on the lift he said the frame is totally rusted out and the car should not be on the road.i then called isuzu and they told me there was a recall on it.they gave me the name of a dealer near me they said the car can not be fixed.they said if the car is hit from behind it would just fold or the suspension will just give out and you will not be able to control the car.its been two weeks and i'm getting the run around from the dealer and isuzu.i am now out of a car.if the gas gauge didn't break i would not have even known about this and could have killed someone on the road. Isuzu should be standing behind these cars!!!!
I purchased my 2001 isuzu rodeo in march 2002.several months after purchasing it, i noticed that my gas light would show empty even after a complete fill up.the only way i had to determine if i needed fuel was by resetting my tripometer each time i filled up.i was okay with doing that for years until in 2006 when i needed to renew by registration, i could not pass emissions because of the check engine light being on.when they determined what the cause was, it was something to do with the fuel line.i took it in for an estimate of repair.i had no choice in the matter and had to pay over $800.00 to have a new fuel sending unit put in my vehicle.i have recently learned that this has been an case for large numbers of 2001 isuzu rodeo owners.i do not understand why this was never a recall issue.as far as i am concerned, i think the car manufacturer so take responsibility for this matter and fix all of the cars that are still out there with this problem and reimburse those of us who had to pay for this repair.obviously, there is more to it than just a fluke.
Engine will stall whenconsumer pulls intoparking lot in facility where he works .consumer feels that reason for this defect may be thatengine is not shielded against sources of radio frequency energy which could shut engine down. There isloss of steering control whenengine shuts down.consumer works atlong range radar site. Engine is a 3.2 v6.consumer states engine shuts down and will n ot restat until the vehicle is moved away from rf energy source, consumer has been told by dealer that the problem is being worked on.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that while driving at any speed the vehicle would loose power and stall, especially while driving over a bump in the road. The cruise light and the transmission light started blinking when the failure occurred. The dealer could not determine what caused the failure to occur and stated that he should consider changing the wiring harness.the vehicle was taken a local mechanic where the wiring harness was repaired at the owners expense for $3,000. The contact also stated that recently he heard a noise in the rear of the vehicle. The local mechanic stated that the rear end was corroded and covered with rust which was the source of the noise. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 66,000.the current mileage was approximately 96,000.
I am writing to notify you of the continuing problems i am experiencing with my 2001, isuzu, rodeo (vin [xxx], (see enclosures 1. & 2.), and to request resolution of these problems within thirty days of your receipt of this letter.i purchased my vehicle 13 january 2001 from west loop dodge, inc. I bought the car a year ago brand new from manual olds/isuzu in north richland hills, texas.i have taken it in several times for the same complaint, each time telling me they could not find the problem.when the a/c is on, the compressor turns on and off and is very loud.when the compressor turns on there is a terrible rattling in my dashboard.i even had the general manager ride with me and he heard the noise and told me that was normal.i have owned 2 other brand new vehicles and when the a/c was on, #1 you couldn't hear the compressor constantly shutting on and off and #2 when the compressor did turn on, i did not hear any rattling noise or any noise for that matter.this is not normal and i have not heard other cars do this, especially a new vehicle.this problem started when i had 4,000 miles on my car.i am having a problem with this particular dealership where i bought the vehicle and i am tired of the treatment they are giving me, especially when they have heard the noise themselves.i know that i am a female but i am not so ignorant to actually think that this is normal.
Engine idling increased intermittently when braking. Vehicle had been to the dealer on five separate occasions, and they were unable to resolve/duplicate the problem. The consumer stated that the racing of the engine gets worse and an smells of oil burning the longer the brake is pressed.*tc
Engine continues to overheat while driving since 4,700 miles to the present. Vehicle been to the dealer on five occasions, and the problem is still occurring. Feel free to provide any further information.
Dt: contact states vehicle loses power while driving.the service dealer did repairs4 times, but in a short period of time the problem returned.
Consumer states at any speed and without any indication vehicle would stall. Dealer has been contacted and repairedvehicle four times.
At a little over 36,000 miles i started having problems with the gas gauge.it drops from full within 30 miles, once it hits a half tank it sporadically drops to empty, the gas light comes on along with the check engine light.it will go back up but then drop again.when i fill the tank at a reading of 1/4 tank i get an average of 8 gallons before the pump shuts off. Yet according to the book it is an 18 gallon tank.now at 40,000 its getting worse.i registered a 1/2 tank at the pump shut off at 2 gallons.
Consumer stated that while driving and without warning there wasa loud popping noise coming from inside the vehicle.the noise was intermittent and would usually sound for 2-5 seconds.this would occur while in motion and sometime when stationary.the dealer heard the sound(s) but did not help. *scc
Pushrod and crank damage to vehicle with only 62,566 miles.this vehicle has been properly maintained in accordance with origianl warranty guidelines.due to the fact this vehicle was a previous daily rental , isuzu reduced original warrantly coverage from 10years/120,000 miles to 5years / 60,000 miles.it seems quite unusual that when purchasing the new motor for this vehicle, the dealer selling the motor said he's sold thousands of these - all were replacements for 98 and up rodeos with the same problem (rods and crank )
While driving at any speed, the vehicle shut down, which forced the consumer to pull over and wait 20 minutes to restart. The dealer had inspected the vehicle several timesand was unable to duplicate or correct the problem. *ph

Engine pingns while accelerating.this same problem was reported on 1-26-01. Response was that engine needed to adjust.now the response has been that i need to use chevron fuel of which that is what i use for my truck.i can provide receipts of this if needed, but i need to report the problem since the service department at midway seem to think that is not a serious problem on the truck.m do gasolinesero.

I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo that i purchased new on february 21, 2001. In may of 2003, it was running rough and i took it to the dealer who diagnosed and repaired a problem with the egr valve. At the beginning of february 2004, the car was running rough again. I took it back to the dealer who said the egr valve had broken and needed to be replaced. The service technician said it had something to do with the type of reformulated gas that we use here in wisconsin and with the placement of the egr valve. However, because the vehicle had 53222 miles, the dealer (russ darrow kia/isuzu, 7676 n. 76th st., milwaukee, wi. 53224; phone: (800) 688-6301) and the manufacturer would not cover the repair, which cost $555.38 (including sales tax).i asked what i could do to prevent this from happening again, and the technician said the only thing i could do would be to have the egr tube cleaned every year. (this is not listed in the owner's manual as recommended maintenance.) because of the gas and location of the egr, the technician could not guarantee that the same thing would not happen again even with such maintenance.
1. Rear shocks went bad at 30,000 miles cost 500.00 to replace. 2. Multiple problems with small components breaking.3. 6 disk changer broke at 50,000 mile4. I took my 2001 rodeo in for the 75,000 miles service today. The air conditioner (a/c) was blowing hot air. I figured it needed freon. I was informed by the seervice advisor that my vehicle needed an air conditioner compressor and gave me the charges. The warranty was good for powertrain. I am highly upset that the a/c compressor has gone out in less than three years. This should be a manufacturing malfunction at this early stage.i also was told i had to pay for the repair of my moon roof. It was either off track and something-nothing definitive. I had taken this vehicle back when i first purchased for a similar malfunction and this same problem had to be corrected. Now that the warranty has expired, it has occurred again.
The fuel sending unit on the '01 isuzu rodeo is faulty and causes the check engine light to come on and the gas gauge to work improperly. Also, the transmission for the '01 rodeo appears to be structurally unsound for the engine. The transmission on my '01 rodeo, after 70,000 miles, has needed to be replaced. This truck has not been used for 4 wheel driving. Though they recalled the '02 for the fuel sending unit they did not incorporate the '01 into that recall.
1. Rear shocks went bad at 30,000 miles cost 500.00 to replace. 2. Multiple problems with small components breaking.3. 6 disk changer broke at 50,000 mile4. Check engine light on at 45,000 miles- 2 codes for egr valve stuck.5. Car stalled several times while in motion and finally just died. Needed new fuelsending unit at 55,000 miles, cost $1,300.006. Air conditioner broke at 60,000 miles, needs new compressor and condenser, received estimate for $1,200.00.
I drive a 2001 isuzu rodeo 4x4.it has approximately 100,000 miles on it.upon taking the rodeo in for recall inspection on nhtsa 10v-436 (rear suspension) the shop noticed that my fuel tank protector was 90% rusted and rotted away.the shop told me this shield (oem part number 8-97226-445-4) also supports the fuel tank from falling off the vehicle (hence this safety complaint).i told the shop to order a replacement and repair it at the same time they were doing the suspension recall work.weeks later the shop told me the fuel tank shield is no longer manufactured and is not available anywhere in their dealer network within the usa.i'm still trying to find a replacement at a junk yard.i don't appear to be the only consumer in this situation as i found another complaint that describes the same situation at this web address: http://www.arfc.org/complaints/2001/isuzu/rodeo/10339599.aspx
I decided to file this claim once i read it was not an isolated incident. The fuel gauge falls to empty which triggers the gas light to come on. The truck has between 1/4 and 1/2 tank when this happens. The fuel gauge/sensor is faulty and should be recalledby isuzu.
2001 isuzu rodeo 4x4 3.2 v6 fuel gauge reading inaccurate. Constant problem with fuel gauge reading inaccurate - has lead to two breakdowns in the last month.
Iowna 2001 isuzu rodeo. At about 50,000 miles, which was around july 2005,the gas started going back and forth after about of quarter of a tank of gas was used, which caused the check engine light to come on. It thought itwasempty when i actually wasabout 8 more gallonsof gas in the tank. Also, about the same time thevehicle started idling very roughly and sometimes shutting off. It has gotten worse. Also, it a idled very high at times, and sometimes the idling fluctuated back and forth between high and low, almost like i waspressing on the accelerator. I am writing this because i have looked on line and saw several people with the same two problems. Thank you for your consideration.
First, the gas gauge started going back and forth between full & empty and the light flashes. Now, i am having trouble with the fuel pump? it starts and then it dies. Cant park up hill, wont start. Have to park down hill to keep gas flowing to injectors.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.while driving 50 mph, the contact noticed fuel leaking and fumes escaping from the vehicle.she believed it was a safety hazard because she was inhaling the escaped fumes.the dealer stated that her vin was excluded from recall # 00v298000 (fuel system, gasoline:delivery:hoses, lines/piping, and fittings).the current mileage is 112,121 and failure mileage was 111,983.
2001 isuzu rodeo, with no prior damage, was warming up and caught fire.apparently , a fuel line leak in the engine compartment was the cause. No warning whatsoever, and no prior mechanical work performed in the engine compartment relating to fuel lines. Apparently isuzu had a recall on fuel lines, but i'm told it doesn't apply to this vehicle.nm
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.the contact stated that the fuel gauge sensor failed.she stated that the failure beganintermittently, but has now completely failed.recall number 00v298000 (fuel system, gasoline: delivery: hoses, lines/piping, and fittings) was referenced.the current mileage was 118,196 and failure mileage was 42,000.
Engine dies all the time while driving.very unsafe defect- could cause accidents.how can we legally return this vehicle to the dealer? please help me.thanks.
2004 isuzu rodeo. Consumer writes in regards to the shield that covers the plastic gas tank being rotted through. *ldthe consumer referenced recall 13v-547. The consumer requested to have the recall repair completed.
2001 isuzu rodeo bad fule sending unit.gas gauge and check engine light goes whacko !this is a common online complaint and problem.isuzu must be focred to recall for this problem.
I drive a 2001 isuzu rodeo 4x4. It has approximately 111,000 miles on it and is in great shape. It is garaged year-round in taunton massachusetts. On monday june 21, 2010 i was driving home from work on route 44 in rehoboth massachusetts. I started hearing a grinding noise and pulled over to the side of the road. Upon looking under my vehicle i was shocked to find the shield that covers the plastic gas tank was rotted through. The entire bottom of the gas tank is now visible and the shield is the part that holds it in place. I went to a mechanic immediately and had the car looked at. When the mechanic put the car on the lift he saw extensive rust and some rot under the vehicle on the frame. He stated that i would be lucky to get 2 more years of use out of the rodeo before it would be totally rotted out.as of right now it is unsafe to drive due to the gas tanks shield being rotted out. The mechanic tried to order me a replacement but his supplier said the parts are no longer being made. The only way i could get one would be from a junk yard and most of the parts in there would most likely be rotted as well.i have two children, ages 12 and 8 ; i do not feel that i should have to drive them around in this car and feel wronged by isuzu. I would like to file this complaint against them and expect a resolution as soon as possible. I would be perfectly happy getting the car fixed, but i do not want to wait months for that to happen.any assistance would be greatly appreciated.thank you
2001 isuzu rodeo, i started having problems with fuel gauge and check engine light came on. Even though the vehicle will have a full tank of gas, it will register empty. Also, the vehicle is idling high. I purchased this vehicle new in 2001 and it only has 44,000 miles. The dealership ran tests and said that it is an egr valve oxygen sensor, and a fuel leveling sending unit. I have a 10 year/120,000 mile warranty, however these parts went out with a 3 year warranty. Cost of repairs at dealership---$1200.
Fuel gauge was reading incorrectly. It would indicate that i was about out of fuel when i actually had about 1/2 a tank left. Isuzu dealership is replacing the fuel level sending unit.

We purchased a 2001 isuzu rodeo used from a dealer in 2002.the fuel gage started falling to empty triggering the gas light to come on along with the cel, since it wasn't a major problem we have not had it repaired since being quoted over $500 to replace the whole fuel pump because of a faulty fuel sensor unit. There are hundreds of complaints regarding this same issue and isuzu is not picking up the responsibility of replacing this.now because we can't pass emissions with the cel on we are forced to have this repaired.

Airbag light is on and off . Went for inspection twice paid $99 dollars for the place to fix for inspection and light is back on again. He said the air bag may need to be replaced
Fuel delivery went out killing vehicle. Frame completely rusted rear links completely gone. Engine randomly loses power. While traveling to work vehicle began to sway, started ticking then engine shut off. Won't start. Battery tests good alternator just replaced a week ago. 2001 3.2l rodeo
Original owner of 2001 rodeo. Received a recall notice for rear suspension lower link bracket. Drivers side required installation of a bracket, passenger side was sprayed with wax. Recall repair was completed circa 01/2011.took the car to an independent mechanic for brakes last week and was told that the frame is so rusted that it is not worth doing the brakes. Mechanic stated that the vehicle would not pass its inspection as the frame is softened due to rusting and is unsafe (don't go on any long drives and think about a new car in the next couple of weeks).contacted isuzu and was told they have no further responsibility as they did everything they were supposed to under the recall agreement. I would like to better understand how the responsibility for rusted frames can be limited to such a small area of the frame component when it appears from the high number of filed complaints that this is a systemic frame rust issue and not simply a localized issue dealing with the rear lower suspension link. This rear suspension link is only the symptom of the actual problem. Isuzu is taking the position that if the rust is not in that specific location, they have no responsibility beyond that.is the nhtsa pursuing this issue farther? vehicle is in excellent condition other than the frame. No rust on the body panels/sheet metal whatsoever.please advise,
I purchased my 2001 isuzu rodeo used in april 2012, about a week after i had the vehicle it started stalling out while i was driving, loosing complete power for a few moments then would jerk and continue going.
Transmission slips and sometimes bang into gear. The shifter linkages get stuck and have to shut off car and put it in neutral to unjam shifter. When going to take off rear end jams up.
2001 isuzu rodeo - reduced power light came on and car would not go over 5 miles per hour.
2001 isuzu rodeo ls 3.2 v-4 2wd.crankshaft counter weight broke of ...lodging in the case wedging against the crankshaft, breaking the crankshaft in two and cracking the block.oil was full, coolant full,..removed engine and disassembled it, to find the broken crankshafta full rebuild of the engine with a used short block is now in effect. ( short block is the bottom engine as in block crankshaft pistons etc....not the top half)i am now going to replace all pistons, rings, water pump, oil pump, tensioner all gaskets, you name it. I can rebuild this better than isuzu ever intended to. Thanks alot isuzu
Vehicle was parked on level ground and was running, the transmission was in park and it disengaged and took off
Engine dies, cruise control & check transmission light comes on.random and frequent times
While traveling at approximately 40 mph engine checklight came on and, engine suddenly stalled while approaching a red light.upon restartingvehicle,engine/transmission would not accelerate to any speed above 25 mph.dealership has examined the vehicle, but could not reproduce the problem or determine a cause.please provide any additional information/attachments.
There is a loud groaning sound when making left turns and backing up. The vehicle was taken to the dealer 5 times and the dealer could not find a problem. On 21 may 2002 ,the check transmission light came on. The vehicle is at the dealership.
Engine dies, cruise control, engine & check light/transmission lights come on and backfires.random and frequent times.
Intermittent problem since 45,000 miles. On automatic transmission, while in drive or from a stop, car does not accelerate despite pushing all the way down on the gas pedal. Tried stopping car (to park and back to drive) but does not solve problem. Seems to go away if i shift to gear 3 then back to drive. If left in drive, slowly drives five miles per hour for several blocks. Only happens at low speeds, mostly when accelerating. Took into dealer. Could not diagnose problem due to not duplicatable problem. Guessed that it was the inhibitor switch, but could not tell me for sure. Spoke with isuzu and was instructed to do nothing until it breaks completely. No parts replaced.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. While driving approximately 45 mph, the contact attempted to accelerate but the vehicle decelerated to about 5 mph and continued to coast at that speed. All of the warning lights on the instrument panel were illuminated. The contact drove onto the emergency lane and turned the vehicle off. When she attempted to restart the vehicle, the failure occurred again. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was recalibrated. The failure continued to occur and the vehicle was recalibrated thirty times with no resolution to the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was approximately 17,000. The current mileage was approximately 60,000.
The clutch keeps going out and needs to be replaced. Not from normal wear and tear.
Consumer states thatclutch is failing. Clutch was replaced three times so far. Dealer notified.
The commplaint is a drive shaft problem, izusu is also aware of the problem. They have issued a buletin to the dealersto the defect.the pblemmisthat when you step onn the brake you feel a thump in the rear end of the car. There has to be wear andtear on the drive shaft spines or even the uboltson the drive shaft. I was told by isuzu that there is a special stickgrease that was developedby general motors that suppose to solve this problem. Well! in my case it has not resolved the problemmas the vehicle has been back to the dealer 3 to 4 times for the same problem.
When coming to a stop there's a pop, and whentaking off, there's a pop.consumer feels like something is shifting back and forth.can feel a bump when stopping and taking off.dealer insists it isnormal.please provide any further information.

The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that while driving approximately 25 mph, the brakes would not respond. The abs warning light illuminated and there was a clicking sound. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis. The mechanic stated that the master cylinder, rear calipers, front and rear brakes, and the rotors would have to be replaced. After the repair the failure continued. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not further repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.
Frame of isuzu rodeo is rusted and rotten.. Mechanics stated ..gas tank is detached..shocks only thing holding isuzu rodeo up by an inch..non repairable.. Non fixable and not safe to drive..repair was not able to be made..due to the condition of rusted frame and all off the above..not able to pass emissions..every part under vehicle rusted and falling apart..isuzu well aware...we have complained direct to isuzu company..we were directed to an official isuzu mechanic..they could not believe what they saw..there after we were referredby mechanic to direct isuzu company..we where told ..there is a recall for a rusted bracket only..but the whole frame is rotten, rusted, non fixable, unsafe according to isuzu mechanic..
When braking, there is a kind of rumble and the brakes feel like they are not working.i have taken it to the dealer three times.they keep stating that though they can't find anything wrong or fix anything, it may be unsafe to drive.the rumbling in the brakes occurs when driving and stopping at normal speeds.i would like this problem resolved as i don't feel safe driving the car.
While driving there was a squeaking noise coming from the wheel while the brakes were applied.*nlm
When braking at low speeds, brake pedal drops, feels like it won't stop and there is a loud, rumbling noise coming from the brakes.happens intermittently. I have taken it to several different dealers and they all say they can't fix the problem if they can't duplicate it.the diagnosis test always shows there is nothing wrong. *la

Vehicle frame on 2001 isuzu rodeo is badly rusted. Have maintained car well and was last inspected in august, 2011, with no problems noted. In april, 2012, vehicle was in shop for brake work when the mechanic noticed that the frame was badly rusted. Have brought the vehicle to a welding shop and have been informed that the vehicle is unsafe to drive and cannot be repaired.
After having my rodeo for a little over 2 years, i've been having braking problems which no one seems to believe.while making an emergency brake, the car shakes very badly and instead of stopping, will slide.the brake released instead of stopping after the slide.
Vehicle was pulling out of the garage when all of a sudden the brakes did not work. Vehicle was being driven down the road about 10 mph when the brakes failed again.
Brakes operate erratically, failing to slow down vehicle during normal operation.dealership has examined vehicle three times and replaced master cylinder while making other adjustments.
Various problems with 2001 isuzu rodeo. *mr the consumer noticed the vehicle did not stop the brakes were applied.they would slide, then stop.two small children would be with the consumer when these problems would occur.the dealer suggested that nothing was wrong with the vehicle and that the brakes were working properly.there was an incident where the vehicle was going down a hill approaching a stop sign and the brakes did not respond.the vehicle sounded as if the engine was raised and the vehicle almost slid into traffic.the dealer suggested that the sliding was the abskicking in.the problem was intermittent.the consumer also found that the vehicle need a master cylinder cap and diaphragm for the brake fluid.the consumer also experienced jerking and felt that something was wrong with the transmission, but that wasn't the case.the consumer requested compensation for these issues. *sc
In fort worth, tx with assistance of my grandfather, rev. [xxx].the model test-driven was impressive because of its mechanical/functional, warranty and safety features. (see enclosures 3.)i was sold on buying a rodeo and i did. However, approximately two weeks after i purchased the rodeo, and had driven it to college station, houston and back for two round trips; [xxx]., salesman, informed me that the incorrect vehicle identification number was on my finance papers.(see enclosures 10.)so, instead of changing vehicle identification numbers on the paperwork, [xxx].instructed me to exchange the vehicle in my possession for the correct identical vehicle. He also told me that the color and the lack of tint on the black rodeo was the only difference between the two vehicles.[xxx].compensation for the inconvenience of driving from college station to fort worth was installing tint (rolands window tinting 7800 hwy 80, suite 103 fort worth, tx 76116) and providing twenty dollars for gas.(see enclosure 4.)nevertheless, three months after the exchange, the black rodeo, currently in my possession (although represented to be identical to the silver vehicle that was test driven, purchased, and used for 12 days), now appears to be a lemon.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.while braking at low speeds, the abs sporadically engages and causes the vehicle to dramatically accelerate forward.the failure is accompanied by a loud grinding noise with excessive vibration.after the vehicle moves forward for approximately 5 feet, it stops.she took the vehicle to a local mechanic and they replaced all the wheel sensors.the dealer stated that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 02i002000 (service brakes, hydraulic:antilock), even though the failures were identical.the contact would have to repair the vehicle at her own expense, which could cost more than $1,000.the failure mileage was 38 and current mileage is 90,000. Updated 03-04-08
During a hard/sudden stop brake pedal drops and wheels lock, loud noise from brakes.
While applying the brakes consumer heard a loud noise coming from the front of the vehicle.the brake pedal went to the floor, and the abs light appeared on the dashboard.however, consumer was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection. Mechanic could not duplicate the problem.
Recently purchased a 2001 isuzu rodeo in october 2006.on november 3, 2006, my husband and daughter were in the car and while pulling in to park the car at a local park, the vehicle took off by itself and would not stop using the break.it seemed like spontaneous acceleration.since we purchased the car so that my 16 year old daughter could use the vehicle to learn to drive, we are concerned that the incident might reoccur and cause a serious accident.the vehicle is currently being fixed in a body shop since a front piece of the fender and the passenger door panel need to be replaced.when the vehicle took off by itself, my husband hit a cement fence.a police report is on file for the accident.
The brakes in the rodeo sound strange at times.i hear a growling noise, and it just keeps going doesn't slow down like it should at times.i took it in to be checked and i quote from the dealer:"500 test drove vehicle all brake system checked good, normal abs operation and this is within factory specs."*la
While traveling approximately 20 to 25 mphbrakes failed to engage when attempting to stopvehicle. Dealership has not examinedvehicle to determine a cause for this problem.please provide any additional information / attachments.
When the abs engaged the vehicle failed to stop and accelerated forward. This occurred on 4 separate occasions, once resulted inthe truck hitting a brick wall. There was anabs recall 02i002000, but it only affected earlier models.also, grinding noise was observed by consumer.isuzu was contacted by consumer regarding the incident (case #4029006).consumer made some research and found out that many consumers have experienced the same problem with isuzu rodeo vehicles.dealer agreed to replace abs module which was recalled in earlier models.*la

Have own our isuze rodeo for four years.we received the rust recall back in 2010 and had the recall work performed.the isuze dealer installed the stabilizing brackets on the rear suspension, due to the excessive amount of rust.now, today as i am paying a mechanic for a new starter, he informs me the there are large holes in the front and back part of the frame.he also said it was unsafe to drive.the isuze dealer never told us about the excessive rust on the vehicle when the recall work was performed.this is my kids car and i won't alow them to drive it anymore.
I started to pull away from the curb and heard a screeching noise and the rear end of my car began to sway back and forth. I pulled back up to curb and looked under rear of car. I saw cracked, rusted frame and a broken stabilizer bar.
My friend [xxx] and i were returning home from shopping in town. Hit a small pothole on spring street in vernon, ct about 5 pm. Took a left turn down a hill and heard scraping sound outside the car.i pulled over and stopped the vehicle, engaged the emergency brake and examined the wheels. The rear left tire was scraping against the mud guard. I was within .2 mi. From home and drove there slowly and carefully and parked the vehicle. On closer inspection we discovered that the shock/strut had separated from the frame, and that both parts were badly rusted. Since the left rear wheel is not safely connected to the frame, my steering was affected, especially when braking. Thank god this did not happen at high speed on the highway or involve injuries or an accident.my blind wife and i are both disabled on ssd and do not have the means to fix or replace this vehicle. Other than this incident, the vehicle is in great condition. Please help us get our safe transportation resolved. We own a 2001 isuzu rodeo with 144000 miles on it.we received a recall notice for excessive rust on rear suspension.we had the isuzu dealer complete the recall work of installing stabilizer brackets, is was due to the excessive amount of rust.however, we were never informed of any additional rust throughout the rest of the frame in the front and back.today, we had the rodeo in to have a new starter put in and the mechanic tell us that the car is not safe to drive.this is my son's car and he is in college and does not have a way of getting to class, any longer.

The contact stated that there was a noise coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop, where they stated that the front and rear tie rods and wheel bearings were defective. The mechanic also discovered that the underbody of the frame was corroded, especially on the driver's side. The mechanic refused to make any repairs. The failure was related to the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 10v436000 (suspension: rear); however the manufacturer stated that the vin was not included. The approximate failure and current mileages were 117,000. Updated 8/23/12 the consumer stated there was a slow leak on the front passenger side tire. There was also a slow leak on the rear driver's side tire since the purchase of the vehicle. Updated 09/06/2012

I was driving my 2001 isuzu rodeo, and all of a sudden it started to slide, when i got home i have my spouse look at it and realized theentire frame rotted off.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.the vehicle was included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 10v436000 (suspension:rear).the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was repaired under the recall.upon receiving the vehicle from the dealer the contact was told by a tow truck driver that a bracket was mounted over a severely corroded frame.the failure and current mileages were 104,000.the vin was unavailable.
While rotating the tires, it was noted that the entire rear frame of the car was rusted through and cracking. This car had a recall in 2010 that was related to corrosion and the dealer that did the inspection and "repair" only applied an anti-corrosive compound to the rear linkage where it attached to the frame. We knew that the frame was rusting severely at that time and mentioned it to the dealer. He said the recall only involved the linkage and not the frame. Now the frame is so corroded that there is no way it can be reinforced because there is no metal left to take a weld. The whole frame will need to be replaced at considerable cost. There is low mileage on our car and outwardly appears pristine. We don't understand why the dealer wouldn't report the frame damage as the linkage would soon fail if the frame rotted away! we would have taken a buy back at that time if it had been offered as stated in the recall notice as follows:"isuzu will notify owners by mail, and start the recall either in late july or early august, according to a company spokesperson. The nhtsa acknowledged the recall in a letter to isuzu on friday.at the dealership, inspections and repairs will befree of charge, as long as the affected suv is no more than 10 years old. Special restrictions and rules may apply to vehicles older than ten years.vehicles will be inspected for signs of corrosion. If little or no corrosion is found, the area will be treated with an anti-corrosive compound. For vehicles with corrosion that has damaged the rear suspension lower link bracket and hindered the connection to the vehicle frame, a reinforcement bracket will installed.if the damage is beyond repair, isuzu will offer to repurchase the vehicle based on the kelley blue book "private party" price."we feel isuzu should make good on the repurchase as the "repair" was a joke.
Had my 2001 isuzu rodeo with 56k and in mint condition in for yearly inspection. To my surprise they failed it...for a rotted frame. It has holes completely through it.they deemed it dangerous to drive telling me i would have been killed if were driving at the time.i have done some research and i just can't believe nothing is being done about this. I'm having a hard time swallowing that this may be a total loss for me. I had plans on keeping this vehicle for well over 100k miles and i just got to 56k. I guess someone has to die for anyone to take action. I feel that i should be entitled to some type of buy it. This is unreali bought this brand new and it's been garage kept i just can't believe it. I had to get this towed and it's now sitting at the dealership and i'm awaiting an outcome.
My car frame has totally rusted threw back behind the rear wheels, they have a recall on it,yet theywont take responsibility if its a couple inches back further, they told me not to drive it that it was unsafe, and they would buy it back for 1080.00.i bought it last year for 5400.00.its in very good condition .i said no..i want the value of the car price. What can i do to get help in this case?
Total frame rusted out on 2001 isuzu rodeo.i was told not to drive it.only 72,000 miles on it.isuzu only recalled the brackets attached to the frames and are sending people back out on to the road with rotting frames.there needs to be another recall for the frames so that we don't all have to buy new vehicles.isuzu is cheating people on the buy back amounts.there is no fix to this problem except for replacing the bad section of frame or in some cases, the entire frame.
2001 isuzu rodeo.consumer writes in regards to vehicle bracket and frame rust issues.the consumer stated the bracket and frame that held the rear end of the vehicle in place, rusted through and became detached. The consumer was informed a recall was issued for the exact issue. The consumer stated he was not informed of the recall. The reason given was the vehicle was registered in arizona, a state that did not use chemicals during the winter road prep.the consumer was also informed, the recall expired ten years ago. Updated 05/13/15.
Own a 2001 isuzu rodeo and the framehas rotten out by the traction bars called isuzu and they said that i only had a 6 year warranty and that they would not cover anything.
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo that has severe rot and rust on the entire frame.i am fearful that it is no longer safe to drive.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo ls.the contact noticed that the entire frame of the vehicle was completely rotted out.the failure was discovered while the vehicle was undergoing an inspection, which it failed due to the rust.the contact found no recalls for this issue, but she believes that the frame should not rot so easily due to the age of the vehicle and its mileage.the vehicle cannot be repaired and is unable to be driven.the current and failure mileages were 87,000.4/01/09*njupdated 04/06/09.
2001 isuzu rodeo the frame rusted causing the rear suspension tofall off during driving. The vehicle then swerved out of control.luckily due to myemergency vehicle driver trainingi was able to avoid and accident. This needs to be addressed before someone gets seriously injured or killed. I have pictures of faulty frame and suspension connection.
The bottom of my car fell out on my 2001 isuzu rodeo while driving the car. The car tilted to the right, it felt like the tires fell off the car. I had to have my car towed to my mechanic. He then inspected the car and told me that whole bottom of the car was rotted out, and it was not fixable.
The tank shield has completed rusted off.there are many complaints online about rust problems with the vehicle.called isuzu and got no support.more of less they told me we don't care about your problem.i have tried to find a replacement part but isuzu stated they no longer make the part.unable to fine part online or in any junk yards.

The frame is rusting through and cracking at points that will not allow inspection the vehicle is only a 2001 the dealer will not help i have kept the vehicle in very good condition most people can not believe it is a 2001.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.the contact stated that the torque bar has become rotted and is hanging from the vehicle.she first noticed the rust approximately four months ago on the driver's side.currently, the passenger side is beginning to experience the same failure.the vehicle has been parked for at least six years in a garage, but the contact feels that the vehicle is not old enough to be rotting.she feels that the rotten torque bar could cause a crash.while driving 25 mph, the vehicle swerved and dropped down due to the failed torque bar.the current and failure mileages were 52,000. Updated 2/23/09 updated 02/25/09.
No prior warning until a loud bumping noise at the rear of the vehicle & lost ability to control rear of the vehicle, no crash due to traveling at low rate of speed & able to pull off highway.left rear bolts connecting body to frame had broken away allowing body to move back & forth on the frame, unable to control steering.upon inspection by mechanic was told left rear was broken completely away, the right rear was also ready to break & the area around gas tank was also very fatigued.vehicle unable to be repaired due to safety concerns, metal extremely fatigued for a vehicle of this age, vehcile had to be junked!body of vehicle in excellent shape, but frame like that of a vehicle 30 or more years old!
2001 isuzu rodeo. After reading numerous complaints regarding frame rust issues, examined my vehicle. The frame is rusted through in many spots. Also, undercarriage shields have rusted through and fallen off in some places. The car was not taken to a shop, nor to a dealer - it would not pass inspection. This is the only car i have, and cannot afford even a used one in comparable state (less frame corrosion, of course). I am sure the issue has been there for quite some time. Current mileage is about 164k. This is by now is widely-reported, and isuzu should issue a recall! the frame should be the last part to deteriorate under normal driving conditions. Isuzu should take care of it before someone gets hurt!!!
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that the frame of the vehicle was rusted. The vehicle was taken to a mechanic where it was confirmed that the frame was severely rusted, making the vehicle too unsafe to drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were 145,000.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated the entire sub frame had excessively corroded. The vehicle was taken to a private mechanic, who stated that the vehicle was unsafe to drive. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 88,000.
Frame is rusted, the result being parts that are atttached to the frame (rear diiferential, stabalizer, shocks etc., etc) rust out and break off---in this case a stabilizer seperated
I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo ls 4x4. Unaware of any problems until we received a recall notice in 2011 that because we lived within a state which was considered in the snow/salt belt region of our country wheresalt is used. The salt caused excessive corrosion to the control brackets behind the rear wheels of our car. We needed to have new support brackets installed and a rustproofing spray applied to our car. We had the recall work done which was a #3 repair on 12/2/2011. We thought the dangerous situation was resolved until we recently brought our car in for service and were told by the mechanic that the entire frame was rusted through in many spots and literally crumbling when you touch it. The car is going to fall right off the frame. They said the car was unsafe to drive anymore. We trusted them as they had nothing to gain by informing us of the situation. We had a different mechanic look at it and they told us the exact same thing, i contacted isuzu to report the issue and i was treated very rudely and the consumer support person was very defensive which made me wonder if alot of people were having similar issues? while online, i found thousand of complaints, all with the same exact issue for this year of isuzu. The isuzu representative said they are only responsible to fix the parts that were recalled and nothing else even though he admitted to bigger corrosion complaints such as mine. I then asked what they intended to do about this highly dangerous situation and he rudely said that isuzu isn't responsible! i couldn't believe it. I guess because they no longer have any dealerships open, they don't care about their customers. After reading other complaints, there have been alot of people driving when the car did fall off the frame and caused them to swerve at high speeds. There needs to be a class action lawsuit started asap before someone gets hurt or killed.
I bought my 2001 isuzu rodeo new. I received a recall notice in 2010 about the suspension brackets in the rear having a rust problem. I had the recall inspection done and the isuzu service center told me that the vehicle was fine and they applied some rust inhibitor. I took my vehicle to a repair shop in aug 2012 for brake work and they informed me that the frame of the vehicle directly in front and behind the rear wheels was almost completely rusted with numerous rust holes in the frame. The frame was so rusted in numerous spots that you could push your finger through the frame and it would crumble under the pressure. I called isuzu and they advised me to take it to an authorized service center they directed me to. At this center i was told that my rust was considered a level 3 incident. Isuzu told the repair shop to do a level 3 fix. That included putting larger suspension brackets on and coating the rust with a rust inhibitor. They stated that the frame rust was not covered under the recall, only the brackets. They acknowledged that there were frame issues for these models but their responsibility was only for the suspension brackets. This vehicle is undrivable in it's present condition with almost no strength left in the rear frame. I will have to spend thousands of dollars to have metal welded to the rear of the vehicle to strengthen it and to make it safe enough to drive. A vehicle produced in 2001 should not have this much rust damage to the frame. This was obviously a manufacturing defect that isuzu even acknowledges but they are refusing to accept monetary responsibility for their defect. These cars need to be bought back from the customer for market value of a vehicle of this age and type. Please help the thousands of isuzu rodeo owners out there like me who have lost the use of their vehicle through no fault of their own. 2001 isuzu rode frame rust issue:the 2010-2011 recall for rusted rear suspension components did not go far enough.the entire under carriage is rusting away on these vehicles - unlike anything i have ever seen before.nhtsa needs to re-open this recall campaign and get these vehicles off the road with a forced buy-back by isuzu. The remainder of the vehicle is in relatively good shape for a 12 year old vehicle with only 76,000 miles.the same vehicles with this mileage but without the rust issues have a resale value of $5,000 or more, while the rusted ones are worthless and dangerous.isuzu needs to buy these back.
2001 isuzu rodeo suspension arm fell off while driving causing us to go off the road, had to have towed home 30 miles.next day had towed to recall approved garage, told me everything was very rusted.now waiting to hear back from isuzu after three days of them having the photos of my car.
2001 isuzu rodeo ls 80k miles rear sway bar link rusted and fell off.frame rusted in many areas concerned for safety of this vehicle isuzushould be forced to recall these suv's.
Vehicle was recalled for failure of suspension supporting frame due to corrosion. Brackets were installed, and isuzu claims this is an adequate fix. However, the entire rear of the frame is riddled with holes and heavily rusted. When the vehicle was picked up the dealership required signatures on photos of the damage to disclaim liability. Although the "official" position of the dealership remains neutral, we were told the vehicle was unsafe to drive. Isuzu offered to purchase the car for $935, stating their only responsibility was for the bracket.
I was pulling into a parking lot when i heard a popping sound and then the sound of something dragging.i looked under the car and the gas tank shield fell off and it was dragging.i pulled it off and many large pieces of rust fell off of the rodeo.i noticed that the frame was extremely rusting.i was able to poke my finger through the frame in many places.the car is now parked in my garage as it is unsafe to drive.i cannot believe that isuzu has not been forced to recall all of these vehicles.i feel that there should be a class action lawsuit related to the use of laminated steel for the construction of the frames and the related corrosion problems.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that while changing the rear driver's side tire, she discovered that the frame was rusted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for inspection or repairs. The manufacturer was notified and advised the contact that the vehicle was not under recall. The failure mileage was 110,000.
I was driving on the road at around 35 - i heard a very load thump from around the rear drivers side back tire they car started swerving all over the road. I could barely get it to the side of the road. My son came and was able to nurse it to my husbands house that wasn't that far. The next day my sons put the car on the jack stands thinking maybe the strut came off. When they got under the car the found that the frame of the car had rusted through. When i had looked the car up on line to see if there were any problems with the car in regards to that issue i did find a recall on the rust issue. I started calling the number and left several messages. I finally got through on january the 5th and they tell me that it had closed but if i wanted to get it to an isuzu dealer at my cost that is over 2 hours away and pay for thetest they may be able to do something or go after the person because they may have known. I feel this was a serious safety defect in the vehicle and should be taken care of. I loved my car and now have no transportation. There was nothing wrong with any other part of the vehicle and i am grateful i wasn't on the highway and that none of my other children were driving it at the time.
2001 isuzu rodeo frame rotted through, not safe to drive.never told about any structural problems until we get the news that the vehicle is no longer safe to drive.have had the vehicle serviced at regular intervals and garaged nightly.just had the vehicle serviced a week ago and no mention of unsafe vehicle.engine light came on after service and we tookthe vehicle back in to be checked.told the vehicle is rotted through in two places and not able to be fixed.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that the frame of the vehicle was severely rusted and the vehicle could not be driven. The vehicle was taken to several independent mechanics and the contact was told by each mechanic that the vehicle was beyond repair. The manufacturer was notified and advised that they had no control over the type of chemicals used on the roads that would contribute to rusting of the frame. The manufacturer also stressed that they were unable to predict the rust factor of the vehicle and offered no further assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 84,000.
Takata recall for a frame problem.
Vehicle frame is completely rusted out.can put my entire fist through it.i had a mechanic look at it and said the vehicle should not be driven as a safety precaution.had isuzu do the recall a few years ago and i don't know how they didn't buy back this vehicle.vehicle has 78k miles on it and in pristine shape other than the frame.i dont know how they have not been sued for this.
I was turning onto a street. The street was covered in oil or some type of slick element. I skidded and fell into a ditch. My airbag did not deploy.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. While driving approximately 40 mph, the vehicle jerked. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the subframe had severely rusted and caused the rear of the frame to separate. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. While the vehicle was undergoing routine service, the contact noticed that the rear frame was rusted. The manufacturer was contacted and kept referring the contact to dealers that no longer serviced isuzu vehicles. The manufacturer provided a case number. The dealer was not contacted. The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that while traveling at speeds of 15 mph, the front wheels folded inward and the vehicle began to turn sideways hitting a guardrail. The contact didn't state if there were any injuries or a police report was filed. The contact stated that the sway bars were rusted and fell off of the vehicle while driving causing the front tires to fold inward. The contact stated that the failure was a safety concern. There were no warnings preceding the failure. The vehicle had not been driven since the failure occurred. The failure and current mileages were 120,000.
I own a isuzu rodeo 2001 and the cars frame is totally rusted out, while driving home from memphis tennessee,i felt stability problem especially when i accelerate and brake, the stability problem became more stronger so i decided to pull over off the highway to see what's going on then suddenly i loose control of the vehicle, the drivers rear stabilizer bar and bracket came off from the frame due to severely corroded /rusted frame. Thank god it didn't happen when we are still in memphis highway where the speed is 70 in a 4 or 5 lane highway. Me and my wife were afraid thinking the end is here leaving our son alone, so i ended up calling a tow to bring it home which cost me 250 dollars.i have the bracket attached to the frame again by the welder but he said the rust is so bad that it might detached again someday. I got the recall letter from isuzu and my rodeo was towed to the dealer nearest to me free of charge to try to fix the problem which is only the stabilizer bracket attachment to the frame. What about the frame??? now im waiting a call from the dealer to see what's going to happen.
2001 rodeo ls 80k miles failure of right rear sway bar brackettotally rusted from frame.total frame rusted, gas tank mounts affected, along with front and rear suspension components. No advance warning of bracket failure or how bad the rustout really is ,asrest of suv is in excellent condition.had sway bar bracket rewelded, but do not trust any other welded to frame components. I do not understand the delay in recalling these vehicles, and wish your agency would get off their butts and do something for the owners of these suv'sthis is a very dangerous situation and isuzu/ honda should be forced to make the owners whole on their good face purchase of what was a 25k+ autowhen new.i am disgusted it is taking your agency so long to make a decision in is what a very well documented failure.
Left rear frame rusted through evidentially the person new of the problem now i have no title and they stole my trade of a 95 lexus gs300.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that the vehicle back frame was completely corroded. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. This is my second vehicle with a frame rot issue. The first was a 1997 honda passport . This one is a 01 isuzu rodeo .
I was driving my isuzu rodeo from the store and when i turned the corner i lost control of the rear end! i pulled over and looked under my car and realized my frame was rusted out. My car has been sitting for 2 years and i was told it cannot be repaired!!!
Friday morning the 3rd of september i was driving to work when my isuzu rodeo started to pull to the left and the right. I noticed the steering wheel alignment was way off. When the pulling left and right stopped the steering wheel was back in alignment. I had plans to pick up a u-haul trailer and help my daughter to move into her apartment over the weekend for college. I left work and went to the bank for some money to help with travel costs. During the ride to the bank i kept questioning myself and the safety of the vehicle for the long journey to boston. As i was leaving the bank parking lot and turning onto rt16 white mountain highway i heard what sounded like a grinding, tearing sound. I immediately pulled over and inspected the car but didn't see any thing out of ordinary. I got back in the car and headed down white mountain highway. I was going about 35-40 mph when all of a sudden the car started jerking violently all over the road. I was on a two lane highway and barely avoided a head on collision. I had little to no control of the vehicle other then the brakes and was at the mercy of the vehicle until it slowed down and then i was able to steer the vehicle. After the car came to a rest i managed to slowly pull the vehicle into a parking lot. I got out of the car and again inspected the car for damage and noticed the rear stabilizer arm had rusted off the vehicle. I thank god that 1. I didn't get into an accident and 2. That it happened when it did and not driving down the road to boston at 60 - 65 mph. If this would have happened while pulling a trailer at those speeds i believe the three of us traveling in the vehicle would have been killed or seriously injured and any one else in close proximity would have been killed or seriously injured. If this is not acted on and taken care of soon someone or someone's somewhere will be seriously injured or killed.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact detected that the frame had cracks and completely rusted due to substantial corrosion. There was a recall associated with the nhtsa campaign id number 10v436000 (suspension: rear). The contact stated that the frame defect should be included in the recall remedy. The vehicle was not repaired under the recall. The failure mileage was approximately 86,000.
2001 isuzu rodeo failed safety inspection due to rust, there are holes in the frame by the rear stabilizer bar.vehicle is unsafe to drive from what the mechanic told me.isuzu says they don't know of any problems with the vehicle when you call them.
2001 isuzu rodeoframe rusting.
2001 isuzu rodeo rear suspension on passenger side let go due to a rotted frame.called isuzu corporate and they told me there was nothing they could do about it.i bought this car brand new in april of 2002, and would have hoped that for 32,000 the shelf life would be more than 7.6 years.
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo that the frame is rusting through where the rear control arms attach to the frame on both sides. I understand that this is a problem from reading many blogs and forums. What action can i take? this seems to be an unrepairable thing. I am not driving the vehicle any more for fear of the frame breaking in half and loosing control.
I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo. On july 20, 2008, i was driving down the highway with my kids. I took a right hand turn onto a side street when the trailing arm bracket let go. I could not drive forward due to metal hanging on ground. I had to call tow truck. The driver told me if it had broken while on highway, it would have rolled over. The safety of my children could have been jeopardized. I have owned vehicle for 4 years. I had vehicle towed to my husband's welding shop where he spent 3 days welding and repairing frame rails. My husband has 25 years welding experience, and in his opinion he would have thrown vehicle away, if we didn't have so much money invested into the vehicle. We feel that anyone who owns one of these vehicles should have the undercarriage inspected by someone who is familiar with metal breakdown and rust issues. You would never know by looking at the body of the car that this problem was lurking underneath!
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact was driving 10 mph and attempting a turn when the entire rear end axle fractured through the frame due to extreme frame rust. The vehicle was left where the failure occurred to have it towed. The contact's insurance company advised they were not liable for the vehicle. The manufacturer would not provide any assistance.the vehicle was neither diagnosed for the failure nor repaired. The failure and current mileage was 67,000.
After my wife came home from work, we decided to run to the local grocery store to get a few things. On our way back, driving at 25 mph we heard a loud noise and the car began to shake violently and pull to the right. I immediately pulled over and walked to a mechanic down the street and asked him to diagnose my vehicles' damage. He showed me that a passenger side rear bracket had completely rusted off of the frame. He then pointed out that the rest of the frame was also completely corroded to the point of putting your finger through it in certain areas. He said the damage was not repairable and the vehicle was now junk. It was only minutes before our ordeal that my wife was driving home at 55 mph. I can only imagine the outcome if this would have happened to her during this time.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.the contact took her vehicle to the mechanic and was informed that the frame was rusted, which prevented the vehicle from being driven.the manufacturer stated that they are not taking action at this time.the contact feels that the manufacturer should repair her vehicle or give her another one.the failure mileage was 140,000.updated06/11/09. *ljupdated 06/11/09.
Rear support system rotted(rusted)off main frame leaving rear wheel on driver side to move freely and passanger side is almost rusted through.frame is completely rusted.while driving the car it felt as if the vehicle was floating towards the right of the roadwhere cars were parked and going to crash into them but fortunatly i stoped the car
Went for an annual inspection sticker and was told the frame was rusted along with other related rusting repairs. Went to an autobody shop to see if the car could be repaired.was told that the car is beyond repair.the frame is rusted beyond repair and the gas tank is one bump away from falling off.
2001 isuzu rodeo purchased 2006 with approx 78000 miles. Beginning in 2008 vehicle has failed inspection for frame rot, beginning 2 feet forward of the drag link mounts, and running to the very end of the frame on both sides. Top, bottom and sides of frame rails involved, especially around the drag link mounts. Has required extensive welding and reinforcement each year. Have spent over $1000 so far. Body condition is excellent, and performance is likewise, but the frame is obviously made from recycled yugos. This vehicle would have been on track for 200,000 miles and resale for some value then; now it is worthless except for whatever time it can be kept safe and legal by sinking more welding $ in it. Current mileage is 138,000.this frame rot case is a perfect parallel to the toyota truck recall, and should also be subject to a full frame recall or buyback program.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that she received a recall in regards to nhtsa campaign id number: 10v436000 (suspension:rear). After having the repairs done and then taking the vehicle through inspection, she was advised that her that the vehicle failed due to severe rusting and holes on the frame. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileage was approximately 118,900.
2001 isuzu rodeo frame is rusted out badly seems like isuzu needs to fix or buy back the suvs before someone dies from this, something needs done very soon.
The frame on my 2001 isuzu rodeo is completly rotten and the recall that isuzu has given to the owners is not fixing the real problem.i have a vehicle which my mechanic has told me is not inspectable in the state and that it is unsafe to drive.my rodeo was towed over 100 miles to the closest dealer for the recall inspection and has been there for about two months.the dealear said they ordered the parts to fix the recall and it would be about four weeks before they had the parts.when the parts arrived they called me and asked my permission to install them.at this point i contacted isuzu and expressed my concerne that this was not going to fix the underlying problem and they told me that the next step would be a purchase offer from isuzu to me.after hours on the phone and faxes sent to them they finally called back three weeks later and told me that they authorzed the dealer to make the recall repairs.i am more than confused now because the dealer is telling that it is going to take parts to fix the recall but isuzu is now telling me they just want to treat the recall area with anti-corrosion material.i feel like both parties involved with the recall are not on the same page.to top that off, isuzu says that they will not tow my vehicle back to my residence and in this state i cannot legally drve the vehicle that is now uninspected.
Near loss of control of vehicle while pulling out from stop on grade. Took vehicle to mechanic and inspected , mechanic said that the rear frame on both sides is rusted almost into allowing movement of frame.
2001 isuzu rodeo left sway bar mounting bracket broke from the frame.

Update 09/10/08 *cwthe bracket from the trailing arm broke from the frame, and caused minimal damage to the fender flare. Updated 09/16/08
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.the contact stated that there was a one inch hole in the frame, which was severally corroded. The vehicle was included in the recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v436000 (suspension:rear) and was repaired. The contact stated the bracket replacement was installed on the frame but she was concerned because the frame was still corroded. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that the frame was not included under the recall repairs and any repairs to the frame would be at the contact's expense. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 52,000.
I made a left hand turn at about 35 to 40 mph.just before i was proceeding forward again, i heard an odd noise and my vehicle began to sway back and forth like a sea vessel.i had no warning at all.i thought that maybe my wheel was some how coming lose so i pulled over to find that the rear control arm had completely rotted of the frame on the drivers side of my 2001 rodeo.i called isuzu because a nine year old vehicle should not have things rotting off.isuzu told me that they weren't going to do anything about it...period.i can't have it fixed because all the frames from 2001 rodeo's are rotted and isuzu isn't making anything available to remedy the problem.luckily, i wasn't going very fast and no one was hurt.had this happened while i was on the highway, i would be dead for sure.this vehicle is a major safety issue on our countries roads and highways!
The frame of my 2001 rodeo rotted right through and broke while i was driving, thank god i was not on the highway. I now have a vehicle that is useless, the body and interior are brand new. I am out a trade and very upset especially since my husband has a 73 delta 88 oldsmobile that is like perfect. What can i do. Can you help me?
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.the contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic for repair and the technician observed that the main frame was excessively corroded due to rust.as a result, the vehicle failed the state inspection.the technician recommended that the vehicle not be driven due to the significant safety hazard.the failure and current mileages were 119,000. My car is a 2001 isuzu rodeo. I am its 2nd owner and i purchased it from the estate of a deceased woman. It had very low mileage. A few days ago i noticed a jarring sound coming from the left rear side of metal making contact. I planned to take it to my mechanic for inspection early this week as i was intending to go on a long trip. On saturday, august 28, my car swerved and i could tell that there was a major problem. I pulled into a parking lot and saw that a large flange attached to a rear axle stabilizer had completely disconnected from the frame. As i was not at all far from home i returned my car to my driveway. Upon closer inspection i saw that the metal of the left side frame of my car was like paper - completely disintegrating.my car is in great mechanical condition. I had my transmission rebuilt last year. I use it in my work as a professional musician to transport my instruments.i have since learned that there have been widespread incidents of 1998-2002 isuzu rodeos having this metallurgical defect. It appears to be unrepairable. It seems that the engineers and metallurgists at isuzu created a defect in their formulation of the steel for the frame. This car should and must be recalled, not only for the sake of those who suffer monetary loss due to the design flaw and the inability to use their vehicle, but also due to the safety concerns of those who are unaware of this defect and the risk of loss of control on a highway.
I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo. Ireceived a notice informing me that my vehicle has a regional safety recall per bulletin sb10-11-s002. This was due to the rear frame rusting away. I brought my vehicle into the closest isuzu repair shop which was about 45 miles away from my home. After looking at the vehicle the service advisor informed me that he couldn't repair the vehicle because of the rust and would have to order a special tool to get it fixed. After waiting amonth i called the advisor who informed me that the tool was in and that he would have to have my vehicle for more then a day to fix it. So i had a friend follow me in another vehicle so that i could get home. A couple of days later i got a call from the service advisor informing me that the frame was too rusted to be repaired and would be taking photo's to send to isuzu owner relations to see what could be resolved with this issue. So i had to get another ride to get my vehicle. The advisor also informed me that he didn't think that it was safe to drive my vehicle but let me leave with it. A couple of weeks later i was then informed that more pictures needed to be taken to resolve this issue. So i drove back up to the dealer ship to get this done.a few weeks later i called the isuzu owner relations only to be told that the dealership will be doing the repair work on my vehicle. I called the isuzu dealership and the advisor now informed me that he was ordered to fix the issue. He would now have to order another repair kit and it would take 2 days to fix my vehicle. So i'm now waiting for him to call back to let me know that the kit is in. I've read several other similar complaints about this and am concerned about driving my vehicle. This is my main form of transportation and can't afford another vehicle at this time.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, she noticed that the entire frame separated from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to her home. After she inspected the vehicle, she noticed that it was corroded. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and advised her that there was a recall and for her to take it to a dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 60,000. The vin was unavailable.
Along with most of you, i to have a 2001 isuzu rodeo.upon having my vehicle towed to the nearest service center in allentown, pa, i was told that my condition was at a level three- that the rear suspension bracket was able to be installed and that i could pick up the vehicle.the service rep then proceeded to tell me that the frame is badly rusted and that the right front area has a hole that he could put his fist through, stating that it is unsafe to drive, it will not pass inspection, and they are not allowed to weld a plate to a frame, rendering it unrepairable.an isuzu manager i spoke with on 2/8/11 could not give me an answer as to a remedy if the truck was unrepairable, repeating that they are only responsible for the rear suspension bracket.this is unacceptable...what is the point if the entire frame is useless?
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact attempted to hitch a trailer and observed that the frame exhibited excessive corrosion of rust. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. My 2001 isuzu rodeo with 90,000 has completely corroded underneath and a steering bracket became detached from the rear wheel while the car was being driven in traffic.the isuzu factory did recall the car, but it has been sitting disabled in my driveway for 2 months now and i don't think it can be fixed (the entire underside is rusted out).the company is botching this recall: this is a very dangerous condition.these cars need to be bought back by the company and taken out of circulation.they basically told me "too bad" when i explained that being unable to drive this car is unacceptable: i need a car!they also told me not to try to get the car fixed on my own.i can't trade it in, i can't fix it, i can't drive it...i'm basically screwed.i bought this car new and am the original owner.i have always taken excellent care of it as far as maintenance, oil changes, etc.the car looks great, the body and engine are fine, but yet, it is a total loss, at only 90,000 miles.something needs to be done to get this company to make this right for the victims of this factory defect, those of us who unknowingly bought a car that was destined to self-destruct in 9 years.it is only a matter of time before someone dies in a horrific accident from this; it almost happened to me, but i was able to get over to the side of the road.when the bracket gave way, the car began to swerve uncontrollably.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that after taking his vehicle in for routine maintenance, he was informed that the rear frame of the vehicle was corroded. The vehicle had not been inspected by a dealer nor had it been repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000.
Isuzu 2001 rodeo - rusted frame - failed inspection - unsafe to drive.
My truck was driving perfect, and with no warning one day while driving down road heard noise coming from rear driver side wheel. My steering wheel, andrear end became loose. I lost control, but managed to pull over safely. At that point my truck was undriveable. Had truck towed to repair shop, and after a detailed inspection of the problem it was determined that the rear left control bar had broken off with part of frame attached with it. The damaged could not be repaired due to extensive rust on frame. Was told problem is very common with this truck, and many complaints have been made to manufacturer, but isuzu has failed to acknowledge this serious problem. Many peoples lives are in danger.
When i applied the brakes the left rear of the vehicle drifted out into traffic. The left trailing arm had disconnected from the frame.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that the rear frame exhibited severe rust. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic and he advised her to take the vehicle to an authorized dealer. The vehicle was not taken to an authorized dealer for inspection or repairs. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000 and the current mileage was 82,000.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated while driving at speeds of 30 mph, the drivers side rear wheel stabilizerbar fractured due to excessive frame rust and corrosion. The dealer was contacted but would not provide any assistance. The stabilizer bar was repaired but the frame rust was not corrected. The failure mileage was 136,000 and the current mileage was 156,000.

While driving on dry pavement approx.20 mph vehicle abruptly swerved left with acceleration then swerved right with deceleration and almost rolled over.upon investigation the left trailing arm was found to be unattached to the frame due to severe corrosion.further investigation revealed multiple areas of severe frame rot and the vehicle is not repairable.
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo, which we have paid nearly 30k for the vehicle. Suv became very sloppy during steering and handling, and have started to find many pieces of rust on the garage floor. The rear part of the frame, near the rear wheels are totally rusting through, making the vehicle a very dangerous suv to drive. Its a major accident just waitingto happen. Something needs to be done. We can not afford a vehicle replacement at this point in time. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The car was driven away from a gas station, and with no warning, it began to weave all over the road. Upon inspection, it was discovered that the driver's side control arm separated from the frame, due to serious rust. The control arm attaches to the rear axle, and is welded to the lower side of the frame in front of the rear wheel. The corrosion was so severe at that point, that the bracket separated from the frame. This causes the rear axle to move, resulting in the car steering with the rear wheels. This condition makes it extremely difficult to control the car. The car was towed home. A few weeks later, it was towed to a body shop for an estimate. The owner inspected the car, and said that it would be difficult to repair, and estimated the cost at $3,200.00. The car has not been repaired, and is not drivable. I purchased this car new in 2001, and have always garaged it and maintained it properly. The body, drivetrain, and interior are in excellent condition, but the car issitting in the driveway, because it is unsafe, and i cannot afford to repair it at this point.
2001 isuzu rodeo, look like my frame is falling apart. Many isuzu owner with the same problems don't know whet to do.

The dealer advised that the failure was beyond repair. The dealer contacted the manufacturer and the contact was advised that the manufacturer was willing to repurchase the vehicle. The contact declined the offer. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 127,411.

While driving my 2001 isuzu rodeo the rear started to sway .i pulled over only to find the entire back of my cars rear axel rusted and hanging.i was very luck i was on a back road going only 25 and not on the highway.this car is undriveable.the entire undercarriage is completely rusted.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.while driving to the mechanic shop, the contact heard a loud thud and the vehicle became difficult to steer.the mechanic determined that the support from the axle to the frame was detached and the rest of the frame was rusted.the vin and speed were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 110,000.
The rodeo was driven approximately 50 miles and started to feel strange shortly before arriving at the destination.a family member took it for a ride trying to determine what the issue was.while driving, he heard a loud noise and the rodeo hopped.he was able to get it off to the shoulder in time to avoid a rear end collision by a tractor trailer behind him.the vehicle was towed and we have had the frame welded (~$800), but have no confidence in its safety and have since bought a jeep grand cherokee.we are not aware of our options and would be helpful for any guidance.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that she received a recall noticefor suspension:rear (10v436000).the contact took the vehicle to the dealer who noticed that the entire frame was covered with an excessive amount of corrosion.the dealer stated they would replace the rear suspension lower link bracket but not the frame. The contact stated that the manufacturer should replaced the frame since this was a manufacturers defect.the failure mileage was 170,000. The vin was unavailable.
Watched channel 5 wcvb boston and there was a report about rusted/rusting frames of isuzu's wanted to know how do we (isuzu owners) go about protecting ourselves in the event that something happens or not how is this to be handled and by whom?
This is a follow up to a previous odi complaint - 10336610 and in response to the very poor handling of recall 10v-436 in regards to my 2001 isuzu rodeo.i have taken my rodeo to the dealer and spoken with isuzu who have stated that they are able to install their 'recall brackets' onto my severely rotten frame, however, the truck will then still not pass nys inspection and will not be safe to drive.i honestly find it difficult to believe that they would even be able to attach said bracket to my frame as i have been told by 3 separate mechanics and welding professionals that the frame is rotten beyond repair , and there is nothing to attach anything to or weld to as the metal is too deteriorated.isuzu is reusing to cover any other frame damage other than their 'recalled section' in which they would install the bracket. My entire frame is rotten....the rear driver side trail arm is rotted off, as isuzu has told me, but they are not covering that. How is this helpful to the consumer as these vehicles are still undriveable and unsafe.i would like to see the nhtsa to follow up on this issue and force isuzu to take responsibility and either replace the entire frame or give consumers the fair market value for these trucks....and not the cost(1500) of what it would cost for them to install a useless bracket....i am out my perfectly functioning vehicle in merely 9 years!!!....and had to buy a replacement vehicle, they should have to reimburse consumers for the inconvenience and the loss of their entire vehicle.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated the rear subframe had fractured as a result to substantial rust corrosion, and was repaired by him. Recently, the vehicle was taken to the dealer for a recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number 10v436000 (suspension: rear). However, the dealer refused to repair the vehicle because the frame was beyond repair. The technician informed that the vehicle was not safe to drive. Also, the contact stated the recall remedy would not correct the problem. The manufacturer was notified but offered no assistance. The contact was waiting on a response from the dealer for further assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.
Went to sell vehicle and was informed that there was a serious rust problem with isuzu rodeos and honda passports of frames rusting out! well we checked my frame and it was rusting out over the rear trailing arm and i think it is dangerous! the mileage is 107,000.
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo. On 7-24-2010 my wife was on the entrance ramp to a freeway in columbus oh when she nearly lost control of the vehicle claiming that it felt like the car was working against her steering. This could have been a serious life threatening crash. Isuzu should respond to this issue.

Passenger side trailing arm has fallen off the rusted out frame on that side.the other side is soon to follow. Vehicle is unsafe to drive. I bought it used, but aside from a few dings here and there it is in great condition for 150k on it. Other than the rusted out frame. From doing some research, i see that this is a very common problem with this vehicle and seems un-fixable. And isuzu will do nothing about it.
The frame on my wife's 2001 isuzu rodeo ls rusted out.the stabilizer bar on the right rear quarter detached from the frame and is irreparable.the vehicle has 78,000 miles on it.
I purchased this vehicle brand new and have driven back and forth to work (10 miles r/t) for eight 1/2 years.am now finding that the rear half of the frame is completely rotted out by excessive corrosion.it only has 73k miles on it, there is absolutely no rust on the body and is otherwise in excellent condition.when i dished out $30k for this vehicle, i certainly expected to be able to keep it longer than this - this is wrong and something should be done about it.
2001 isuzu rodeo started to shake in the back end - then swerve on the hwy. Pulled over and noticed a crack in the frame - where it was rusted out. I've dealer maintained the vehicle since new and to look at the truck - there is no rust or issues...so was surprised when the frame would separate the way it did.
I live in connecticut and own a 2001 isuzu rodeo. It has 81,000 miles on it. While changing my winter wheels to summer wheels i noticed larger rust spots on the rear frame. As i proceeded to clean the rust off so i can coat the frame . A large hole opened up under the rust spot. I have checked online and noticed a trend with this model truck from isuzu. The rest of the truck is perfect isuzu needs to do something. Toyota had a problem with there frames and they are replacing them.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. While driving at speeds of 35 mph, the contact stated he was unable to control the steering wheel. Upon further inspection, the contact found that the thread spring had detached from the frame and was rusted. The under carriage was also cracked in half. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer nor was the manufacturer contacted for the failure. The vin was unavailable. The failure and current mileages were 102,000.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The vehicle was having a state inspection station performed on the vehicle when the technician informed the contact that the main frame exhibited large holes and excessive rust. The main frame was completely destroyed. The technician recommended the vehicle not be repaired. The failure mileage was 130,000
2001 isuzu rodeo. The rear passenger side stabilizer link/bar rotted off the frame while in motion.the vehicle had passed the ma. State inspection in september of 2009. There was no prior notice to this defect at all. When the vehicle hot a pothole the bar and about 10 inches of the frame came away from the vehicle and dropped causing the rear pass tire to move toward the back of the vehicle. This vehicle was purchased new in april of 2002 and i am the original owner. The vehicle has always been driven in ma. To and from work. In my opinion this vehicle is a time bomb for owners that are not aware of the potential problem with the frame rot. It should be forced to be addressed by thenational highway traffic safety administration u.s department of transportation and the office of defects investigation. I called isuzu and they told me that there was nothing they could do. Nothing. This car should have lasted more than 7.6 years at the price tag of $32,000.00excluding finance charges.
2001 isuzu rodeo rotted frame.purchased used isuzu rodeo in late 2008.found that entire frame was rotted and that it had actually broken in half.both sides of frame were broken by rear tire where suspension arm attaches.had to have extensive metal and welding work done to reattach and make drivable.repair person said it was a temporary fix and would eventually let go again due extensive rusting around it and elsewhere on the frame.these vehicles are not safe and should be recalled!
I was driving my 2001 isuzu rodeo to meet my daughter at her school.without any warning at all the car started swaying out of control and i could hear something dragging underneath.when i pulled over to look my frame has broken at the trailing arm.i had it towed to an auto body shop and was told that the whole frame is rotted.they told me that it was unsafe to drive.they ended up welding it back together as i could not afford to buy another car, but it is still rotted all around the entire frame. Its just a matter of time before something else happens.this is a safety issue that needs to be addressed asap.if i had still been on the highway i probably would have been killed or have killed someone else.i can't believe how many complaints there are and was shocked when i saw channel 5 news story with the same exact vehicle as mine.please push for a recall.
While driving 2001 isuzu rodeo at about 25 mph, i heard a thump from the rear of the vehicle. Soon thereafter i noticed that the handling of the truck became quite loose. Upon stopping i examined the underside of the vehicle & saw that the driver's side rear trailing arm had broken away from the frame & there were holes rotted through the frame. I have an appointment at a frame shop tomorrow to see if the vehicle is at all repairable. The mileage on the vehicle is currently 84,115 mi.
On august 24, 2010 i was making a right turn from a parking lot, i heard a very loud noise and bang from my 2001 isuzu rodeo pulled off to the side of road. That's when i noticed the drivers side rear control arm had separated from the frame.since that time i have followed all of isuzu's requests for a remedy and now waiting for them to buyback my truck. I'm just now filing complaint because of what i've read online about their absurd buyback offers and them requesting consumers to fill out a w9 form, when the offers a @ a considerable loss to what we rodeo owners originally paid. And the fact they (isuzu) knows darn right well the cause of the defect is that bad metal was used to build the frames, not the suspension to cause the recall.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.while driving 30 mph, the vehicle began to swerve.the trailing arm on the rear axle of the frame disconnected from the frame.the contact noticed that the frame was rusted and rotted all the way through to the point of disconnection.he called the manufacturer corporate offices and was informed that the vehicle was beyond its manufacturer warranty due to the mileage.the current and failure mileages were 110,000. My 2001 isuzu rodeo has extensive frame rust. In contacting other owners of isuzu rodeos around the same model/year, i have discovered the problem is widespread throughout the country. Other owners have experienced significant damage and i do not want to jeopardize my family's safety.

I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo with only 134,000 miles on it ... Engine is perfectly fine, nothing wrong at all.all of a sudden, i'm driving back from the pittsburgh international airport in western pa to my residence about 45 miles away on a very busy highway with about 5 very close friends in the car, and the control arm on the rear left side of the vehicle completely rusted-off ... We're lucky that i was only going about 30 mph as we were just existing the airport premises and not on the speed limit 55 highway yet.even going only 20 - 30 mph, i completely lost control of my vehicle and everyone in the car was very scared ... It was as though i was driving on sheets of ice meanwhile it was the middle of summer!i weaved in and out of lanes of slow-moving traffic (thank god) and had to pull over to the shoulder and limp my way going 5-10 mph to the nearest exit, call a tow truck, spend $200 to have it towed to only find out it needed to be trashed as the whole entire suspension/undercarriage/frame is completely rusted!the vehicle is not a flood car!however, it seems as though it is in worse shape than the titanic after sitting in salt water at the bottom of an ocean for decades!the control arm completely rusted off the frame and after examining the other side's control arm, with one minor kick or pull that one is ready to pull off as well!it's hanging on by a small tiny piece of metal that's not completely rusted off.with a kick it'll fall right off, too.the car is now worthless and i have nowhere to turn, no transportation and i can't get any money to sell a car with no frame!it's unbelievable that a car only 9 years old can rust like it's 100 years old.i'm very frustrated and need some assistance and justice.thank you.
Rust on my isuzu rodeos rear frame. Nothing as of yet has been done to it. I understand this is a common issue with rodeo's & amigo's. Isuzu needs to own up to this problem.
2001 isuzu rodeo has extensive frame rust.
My son was driving my 2001 isuzu rodeo to school. He felt that there was something wrong with the driver side rear tire. Had the vehicle towed to mechanic.tow truck driver stated that the frame was totally rusted and cracked. Mechanic said that the car is a total loss. Fortunately no one was hurt.
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo which i received a recall. The suv handled terrible took into dealership and states a bracket is rusted out and the car is to dangerous to drive. They will need the car for a few weeks and only will replace the bracket as that is the only recall even thou the frame is rusted. This issue is unacceptable and should be addressed. I also have no car to get to work and the dealer states isuzu does not care.
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo that the frame is completely rotted in the rear.the vehicle only has 86,000 miles on it.i read there's a lot of them out there with same problem.any chance there's going to be a recall on this 4 i owe money on it and cant driver it or fix the frame for it is to far gone.
2001 isuzu rodeo.rear control arm rusted out.rear shock mounts rusted out causing them to separate from vehicle resulting in loss of control.
2001 isuzu rodeo lse (original owner) - brought vehicle in for routine service on 05-05-2010; service manager called later that day and said, "it's not worth spending anything on this vehicle since the frame is very badly rotting away."he also said the vehicle should be parked and not driven since it's, "an accident waiting to happen and serious injury or death could result if the frame fractures while driving."i was shocked to say the least as this was the first time i was warned of this issue.upon showing up at the dealership he (the service mgr) showed my where a the frame was rusted away and a 1" x 3" hole was rotted through the frame nearest the rear drivers side suspension component bracket mount.he also mentioned the frame appears weak in many other places and repair if possible would be in excess of $10,000, if that is parts where even available.other than that the car is in great shape, but now rendered junk!appears to me a frame should last more than 9 years...h e l p ! ! !
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.while driving approximately 25 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle automatically pulled to the right without assistance.the contact experienced difficulty steering in the desired direction.the vehicle and steering wheel made an excessively loud grinding noise and vibration.there were no warnings prior to the failure.the driver pulled over to the side of the road and inspected the vehicle.he observed complete detachment of the rear passenger stabilizing arm.the vehicle was cautiously driven to his residence.the vehicle is currently inoperable and has not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 118,000.updated 5/6/09 the consumer stated the vehicle has not been driven. The frame is too corroded to repair. The bracket weld does not penetrate width of the metal. Updated 05/08/09. The consumer said that it felt like the vehicle on "on ice" while the incident occurred. He still have the vehicle and is available for testing if nhtsa desires. Updated 05/12/09. *sc
Rear anti-sway bar broke almost caused my daughter to crash. I took it to a mechanic and he discovered the rear frame is severely corroded and is not safe to drive. I have dealt with isuzu and it was hauled to an authorized dealer 110 miles away for repair. They say it has been fixed. They called it a stage 2 fix which is basically spraying a frame treatment on the inside and outside brackets. Within the bracket vincity the frame is completely rusted through and i do not feel this vehicle was rated right by the dealer, i believe it should have been a stage 4 fix. I feel this is a terrible saftey issue that isuzu and honda need to step up and take responsiblity for. There are over 150,000 of these vehicles on the road and they need to be taken off the road before lives are lost.
I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo, on december 24th 2009 i had just dropped my daughter off and home and was headed back to the store when my car starting acting funny and almost flipped. I got the car under control and to a stop. I get out of the car and see something underneath my car broken off. I call my son-in-law to come help me. He looks underneath the car and notices the trailing arm broken off, he said mom it's a wonder you hadn't been killed! your frame underneath your car is totally rusted! so i have 4 different mechanics look at me isuzu and all of them say the same thing, your frame is completely rusted out and fixing that trailing arm would be a danger. They refused to fix it! so my car was recalled for the trailing arm but not the rusted frame, which will not fix the problem! . Isuzu picked my car up january 4th 2011and takes to their repair garage. I call two weeks later because no one ever contacted me. They tell me the mechanic refused to fix the trailing arm and have me drive this dangerous car home. He said the frame was rusted worse than any of them they have seen. So i wait a few more weeks and call isuzu relations dept. They proceed to tell me that they yelled at the mechanic for telling he refused to fix this car because it can be fixed. I was told they would fix it. So i waited another week and call back again to be told they tried to fix the trailing arm and the rust was so bad underneath that my gas tank brackets broke off during the repair. And i was told that the brackets are no longer made and it can't be fixed! please start another recall on these cars, the frame is the problem not the trailing arm. These cars could kill an innocent family. Isuzu still refusing to do anything about my car. If they think i'm diving around with a rusted frame and broken gas tank brackets they are crazy! i will park this car in my driveway another 2 years if i have to until the real problem is taken care of!please help us, thank you
I was driving in a parking lot and rear tire began to wobble. I parked and left the vehicle due to an imminent appointment, returning an hour later i inspected the tire and found the control arm on the drivers side rear tire had broke away from the frame, thankfully i was in a relatively safe area for this to happen otherwise injury or crashes may have occurred. I had the vehicle towed to a mechanic. The tow truck driver said the corrosion/rust would make a repair nearly impossible. The mechanic that the vehicle was towed to agreed with the tow truck driver in determining that there was nothing he could do to make it safely drivable. The vehicle is currently not being driven due to the frame rust/corrosion.
2001 isuzu rodeo:93,000 miles frame is completely rusted to the point the vehicle is no longer road safe.motor and transmission run excellent.
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo. On 7-24-2010 my wife was on the entrance ramp to a freeway in columbus oh when she nearly lost control of the vehicle claiming that it felt like the car was working against her steering. This could have been a serious life threatening crash. Isuzu should respond to this issue.the rear trailing(control arm) broke away from the frame and the frame is rusted beyond repair.
2001 isuzu rodeo frame rusted to the point car will not pass state inspection.
Driving isuzu rodeo on interstate at 60 mph when going around large turn the rear end of the suv began to get very loose.felt like a tire was going to fall off.after losing control i began to slow down and exit off interstate.i looked around suv and saw nothing unusual until i got under the suv and realized the rear stability bar had rusted completely from the frame and the frame its self had many holes rusted though it.
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo ls and i was driving 30mph and almost hit several cars.i was able to pull over on the side of the rode.the rear frame near my rear axle was cracked due to corrosion and i am told by the mechanic that the rear axle stabilizer arm ripped off of the frame due to the corrosion.
I owna 2001 isuzu rodeo which also hasall rust and rot throughout the frame and under carriage--i was in a car accident last year,i wasat a complete stop at a red light and rear-ended,and the rusted and rotted carriage did not give me protection and i took the brunt of the injury. The auto body shop said i was very lucky that the car that hit me did not come through the car and end up in my back seat. Other than under my car,the car is in excellent condition and only has 65,000 miles on it.
Frame of an isuzu rodeo 2001 rusting and rotting away. Not able to be repaired. Basically unsafe to drive.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated while driving at speeds of 20 mph, the rear axle fractured from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to his residence and upon further inspection the contact found that the frame had severe corrosion and rust, which caused the rear axle failure. The vehicle had not yet been repaired or inspected by the dealer. The failure and current mileages were 102,000.
2001 isuzu rodio rear suspension lower link separatedfrom the frame due to rust suv lost control.
I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo.i have an ongoing problem with the frame of the vehicle, it is rotting away.the frame cracked in late 2008 as i was driving my family, it was a very harrowing experience. I had to have it repaired.that has compromised the strength of the frame.it since has needed to be welded an additional time, the most recent, last month.my car repairman has stated that this frame will need to be welded once again in the near future as there are several other weak areas. The frame is completely rotting away.the car is garaged all day and has been since purchase. It is very rarely out in the elements. I understand that this is a widespread serious problem with specific model years of the isuzu rodeo--this is completely unsafe.
Last year passed inspection (2009).tried to inspect this year (2010) did not pass due to severe rust on frame, including holes.currently parked waiting on recall info.
I bought a 2001 isuzu rodeo in 2001. I was detailing my suv and noticed that the left rear trailing arm bracket that is welded to the vehicle frame has rusted a long gate hole through the frame. I took it to the dealership where i purchased it from and was told that this vehicle is unsafe to drive. The dealership and myself called isuzu customer service and was told they would not do anything to help me. This vehicle is immaculate. It is time that the public knows abut this problem, because it is a safety issue to those who drive rodeos and passports, and the other drivers on the road. Please tell me what my options are. I am out of a perfectly nice vehicle other than frame. I cannot even trade this vehicle in.
In april of 2010, i was driving my isuzu rodeo on a major highway in massachusetts when suddenly, i felt as if i had no control of the vehicle.it felt like i had a flat tire in the rear and no wheel control.at the time, i was exiting the highway, traveling approximately 30-40 mph.i was able to safely pull over and had my truck towed.a few days later, my mechanic informed me that my truck was a total loss because my frame had rusted away almost completely and snapped in two.it was a 2001 four wheel drive with 109,000 miles, which is considered low.the truck was very well taken care of and was never involved in anything other than a minor accident with slight damage to the rear bumper.there was no rust at all anywhere on the vehicle.i was asked if my truck had been submerged in salt water (no) because mechanic and insurance company could not explain a frame rusting away and cracking in two.after seeing an investigative report on my local channel 5 news station i decided to report this.it explained that many other isuzu owners had lost their vehicles because of this apparent mechanic issue where frames are deteriorating much too soon on these vehicles.
I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo ls, i brought it in a service station for routine maintenance, and they informed me that the entire steel frame of my suv was severely rotted,to the point where i was told not to drive it . I brought it to a frame specialist ( auto rust technicians 275 niantic ave cranston ri ) they told us it is very common for isuzus frame to rot out, they have been repairing quite a few of them, the cost to repair is apprx. $2000.00 dollars, and they also told me not to drive itfor safety reasons, the suspension would brake off the frame or the steering box would fall off the frame, either way it could lead to a deadly accident. Also the repair would only last 3 to 5 years because of the boxed type frame, which rots from the inside out.
The sway bar of the rear wheel at the driver side of my isuzu rodeo 2001 felt off of the frame without a warning. After a close inspection i discovered that this was due to a severe corrosion of the frame.the accident happened up on entering in a parking lot. Due to the low speed i managed to stop promptly. I believe that if this had happened on a busy street there might have been more severe consequences.
Returning home from work, stopped at intersection, when my turn to go i pulled out on road and noticed that vehicle felt like i had a flat tire. Steering was very strange and felt like vehicle was all over road.i was only going approximately 10-15 mph maximum as i was going from stop light to stop light.when i accelerated from initial stop light i heard a crack and loud scraping sound.i went approx 1/10 mile till i could pull off road on shoulder then into parking lot.when i got out to see if i could see anything wrong i noticed under car in front of rear wheels that what appeared to be stabilizer bars for rear wheels were hanging down under car and that the frame on both sides was broken in half .i had no previous indication that this was breaking.i fear that if i had been traveling at a higher rate of speed other than going from stop light to stop light that i would have lost control of the vehicle.the entire rear axle would float freely and twist from side to side when attempting to accelerate and rear wheels would ride out from under vehicle and when braking rear wheels rode up under vehicle.this vehicle is no longer drivable and is basically a complete loss and is not covered under any type of motor vehicle insurance coverage due to no accident involvement.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.while driving approximately 5 mph, the contact heard and felt a loud thump and the rear driver's side wheels failed.the vehicle was towed to the tow yard and it was discovered that the rear axle had detached from the vehicle.upon further inspection, a rusted frame was diagnosed as the cause of the failure.the contact called the manufacturer and was informed that the vehicle was out of warranty; therefore, he would be responsible for the repair costs.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 166,600.
My husband was leaving the house, when he pulled away the frame, not the lower link bracket broke. The bolts were still in place. The frame is so rotted he was able to push his finger through it more than a foot away from the lower link bracket. They (isuzu) has decided to scrap my 2001 rodeo, i bought it in october 2010, a month after the recall (which i knew nothing about and still have not received a letter of recall) for the price of $5000. This vehicle should not have been on the lot to be sold. Isuzu should have gotten them off the road. Now they are only offering $1500 for it. I am forced to take it, because i am unable to go without a car, being a 1 car family, and money is tight. I have to take this offer to pay on the car i had to go buy to replace my rodeo, which iswonderful condition with the exception of the frame, that is not covered in this recall. The wrong parts are being recalled and we as consumers are being forced to take extremely to little for our cars.
Vehicle became very unstable while driving.after hearing noise from left rear, it was discovered that the left rear lower control arm had become detached from the frame rail.the mounting bracket pulled away from the rusted frame, leaving a gaping hole in the frame.vehicle is not drivable and does not appear to be repairable.
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo. While having it in for inspection, my mechanic told me the rear frame had rusted through. After looking at online forums and talking to a friend who is a mechanic this seems to be a common problem for this car maker. This car is only 9 years old.
I am the owner of a 2001 isuzu rodeo.recently my wife went to school to pick up our kids at school, on her way home she said she felt like she had a flat tire.after pulling over in a parking lot and investigating the car and saw the tires inflated, she called me work to inform me she unsure if she should continue to drive home and felt there was something seriously wrong with the car.since she was only amile from our home i told her to put the hazards on and nurse the car to the house. (which she did)when i got home i looked over the car and noticed that both the lower links (bars from the frame to the rear end) were both rotted at the frame connection.the vehicle cannot be repaired due to rotted frame.
Hit a banking with rear tire and the frame of my isuzu rodeo 2001 broke on both sides can not fix this suv frame is rotten . There is a recall but only on 1998 and 1999.updated 10/05/10 the entire frame is rusted, not just the rear suspension. Updated 10/27/10updated ivoq 11/01/10
I would be perfectly happy getting the car fixed, but i do not want to wait months for that to happen.any assistance would be greatly appreciated.thank you
I have recently purchased a 2001, isuzu rodeo from a private seller, and at the time of purchased the vehicle seemed like it was in a mint condition. The engine looked wonderful and the outside looked like it was well taken care of. A month after the purchase i have decided to put in new shocks all the way around. Once i started to look under the vehicle and remove the shocks i have come to discover that the frame of the car was in a terrible shape. The guy that sold the vehicle to me tried to hide the damage by undercoating and putting (bondo) on the "frame" to make it look like there was nothing wrong with it. Poking the frame with a screwdriver, i discovered that there were huge holes in it and chunks of the frame are completely missing. I was in a such unbelievable shock because i couldn't believe that this vehicle was still functional and wasn't sure what was exactly holding it up. I can say that the person that sold me the vehicle has obviously tricked me but the damage that was on the car was unbelievable. Everything else including the underbody of the car looked like it was in a pretty good shape but the frame and everything attached to it looked like it was falling off. I am scared to further poke and touch the frame because i feel like the whole car will fall apart on me and there is no way i will let my self or anyone in my family drive this car in this condition because it is completely unsafe and it is obvious that this has to be some kind of a manufacturer defect. After sweeping away several pounds of rust that just came off of the frame of my car, i am not sure if this problem is even repairable, but i just hope that there is something i can do in order to put this car back on the road.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated the vehicle was repaired under nhtsa campaign id number: 10v436000 (suspension:rear). After repairs, the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop for state inspection where the contact was informed that the vehicle was unsafe and would not pass inspection due to severe frame rust and corrosion. The vehicle was taken back to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed the vehicle was safe to drive. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was 152,000. The vin was not available.
2001 isuzu rodeo frame rusted completely through while my daughter was driving near boston ma. Thank god she is ok however all persons who handled the accident could not believe how rusted out it was. She was quite lucky she was in the right lane of 3 when it happened. The frame broke through on the passenger side in front of the rear wheel about 18 inches. At that point the car became unmanageable and swerved in all directions. The car was deemed of course undriveable and was towed to a junkyard.the kicker is my other daughter has the same car and year and also has a rotted frame. You never would guess looking at the car (unless) you look below.darn shame someone needs to get these cars off the road and have isuzu step up. Extremely dangerous.
While driving my 2001 isuzu rodeo, i heard a few loud pops and then my torchen bars broke apart from the frame causing the car to swerveall over the roadway and was uncontrollable .i was informed that the cars frame had rusted and the torchen bars could not be fixed with out installing a new frame.the vehicles powertrain warranty is still in effect which covers the torchen bars however, isuzu claims the frame is not part of that warranty. I have spoken to many mechanics and all have stated that this is very common in rodeos.i feel that the frames on isuzu rodeoshave rusted prematurely and is dangerous to be on the roadways.these vehicles should be recalled.
2001 isuzu rodeo frame rusted in 4 separate places, making the vehicle unsafe for driving. I had to take it to a frame fabrication shop and have the frame properly repaired. $1200 for all repair and i was told that the rest of the frame will fail within 18 months.
The frame on my 2001 isuzu rodeo ls is rusted out beyond repair where the trailing arm attaches in the rear on both sides. I have 68,000 miles on the truck and the rest of the body and interior is in perfect condition. The rust has also corroded the shock mount and the gas tank. I have taken great care of this truck and am careful to wash the salt away frequently in the winter. I have contacted isuzu and they will not do anything because the truck is out of warranty and they say their 100,000 mile corrosion warranty does not apply to the frame. I spent 26,000 dollars on a truck that i now have to throw away at 68,000 miles and i am furious. Please get them to recall the frame. Toyota had a similar problem with their frames and they took care of their customers due to the extreme safety issue.
My daughter drove the vehicle 5 miles to work. On the way, the car "lurched" to the right and scared her. She made it safely but was afraid. When i arrived to inspect the car, the sway bar attaching the rear passenger's side axle to the frame was broken off due to rust on the frame. Significant rust has eaten the frame from about the driver's seat to the rear of the vehicle. The problem does not look repairable. Frustrating because i have take excellent care of the vehicle. Car is undrivable and a serious accident could have happened if the breakage had happened at higher speed.
I was driving my 2001 isuzu rodeo when i noticed that the rear of the car was "sliding" from left to right upon accelerating.i heard a loud grinding noise comming from under the car.i pulled off the road and looked under the car.i noticed that the left rear traction bar had broken away from the frame due to exxesive rust on the frame.
My isuzu was recalled for a defect in the forward mounting brackets of the rear suspension. Before i took it in for the recall, i took it to my mechanic to have new brakes. He called me to tell me that the frame was so rotted and rusted not to bother because the car was to far gone. I took it to marty's of kingston, ma.for the recall. They called to tell me that they fixed the brackets but the frame was so rotted that the car was unsafe to drive.this is totally absurd to me. They claim the recall wasonly on thebracketsand isuzu doesn't care if the frame is rotted.so, i had it towed to a junk yard only to be told all they would give me was $800.00. I just put 2 new tires on the front worth $300.00. I don't understand how isuzu is getting away this. The junk yard told me that one of the new brackets put on at the dealership was right next to a big rotted hole in the frame. What does it take for them to take this seriously, someone getting killed!the rodeo was running fine and i hadn't planned on buying a new vehicle until next year. Do i have any recourse with isuzu? i just pray that no one gets killed with these rusted frames.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. While driving 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly swerved out of control. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed severe corrosion on the passenger side subframe and that the rear suspension link bracket failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact did not alert the manufacturer or the dealer. The failure mileage was 100,712.
I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo.i have an ongoing problem with the frame of the vehicle, it is rotting away.the frame cracked in late 2008 and had to be repaired, with a cost to me. When the frame broke the car was very difficult to control, which puts people's lives in danger. The car was towed to my repair shop where it was welded at my expense. That has compromised the strength of the frame.it since has needed to be welded an additional time, the most recent, last month.my car repairman has stated that this frame will need to be welded once again in the near future as there are several other weak areas.i understand that this is a widespread serious problem with specific model years of the isuzu rodeo.
I received a recall #10v-436 form in the mail from the isuzu owner relations center 1400 s. Douglass road, suite 100 anahelm, ca 92806 on or about november 2010.it stated that i should call isuzu special assistance center to identify the isuzu service center closest to me. I was told the parts to repair my vehicle would not be available until the middle of january 2011.i called and an appointment for february 18, 2011 at bournival isuzu where i bought the car brand new in august 2001. The car was due for a sticker january 2011.january 10 2011 this vehicle was in an accident.there was minor damage to the rear left side totaling $2,800.when the body shop further investigating under the vehicle he noticed extensive frame damage rotting with holes and extensive rust.he determined the suv was unsafe.he also noticed the axel was 3/4 of an inch out of line.he then called our insurance company and the adjuster reinvestigated the vehicle.the adjuster at this time totaled the suv.the insurance company took ownership of the vehicle and subtracted a large sum of money from the finale amount because of the holes and rust he found on the frame undercarriage,to look at this vehicle you would have thought it was years younger then it was.there was no rust, dents or scratches.this vehicle should have gone another 100,000 miles at least.it was garaged and meticulously maintained from the date of purchase.i was told by friends it drove and sounded like a brand new automobile.my intention was to have it for ten more years.at this time i am requesting the amount disqualified by the insurance company for the frame metal decomposition and an amount for loss of longevity and failure to fulfill my expectations.
The integrity of the entire rear section of our 2001 isuzu rodeo has been compromised by severe corrosion. Both the right and left rear frame rail sections, to which the traction bars are attached, are so rusted and rotted out that the traction bars are in danger of detaching from the frame rails! the gas tank support is also rotted through and, essentially, the entire rear frame section of the vehicle has been seriously destroyed by this corrosion. It is full of holes and cracks and is literally disintegrating. The exterior of the vehicle, however, is in excellent condition, as well as the engine and transmission. We are the original owners of this rodeo and have faithfully maintained it since we purchased it in april 2001, yet the vehicle is now unsafe and no longer drivable! this corrosion is obviously the result of a manufacturing defect that has created a serious safety issue and warrants a recall. Does someone have to be injured or die before isuzu or honda will act responsibly and take action?
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.while pulling into the driveway at an unknown speed, the contact heard a strange noise.he noticed that the rear subframe, shields, and traction bars were all corroded.the vehicle is unable to be driven.the vehicle was inspected and the contact was advised to replace the rear and front frame because they were also corroded.the manufacturer stated that they would not assist with the repair because the vehicle was six years old.the current and failure mileages were 79,733.updated 5/18/09 updated 05/19/09.
I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo which i purchased new in 2001, this vehicle has always been maintained as it should. I received a recall from isuzu about a frame issue and promptly took the vehicle into dealer for inspection. I drove 90 miles to the dealership for a 2-hour recall repair, after the dealer inspection i was told that my vehicles frame structure was to rusted to be repaired with the frame channel isuzu provided. The vehicle was deemed unsafe to drive and the dealership would not release the vehicle according to isuzu's instructions. I was told by the dealership that my vehicle would most likely be totaled out by isuzu as it was to unsafe to drive. Since insurance company policies will not provide a rental car for automotive recalls, i had to rent a vehicle just to make my trip back home, i had just be unemployed after the company i worked for closed their doors for good. This problem with isuzu was the last thing i needed to happen. I'm out of a vehicle, how am i supposed to find work and get there when i do find a job? the problem with the frames on these vehicles are worst than just a small repair. This is a bigger problem than just a channel replacement! and this should be looked at deeper, not only am i out of the use of my vehicle, i recently spent a $1000.00 on new tires and a muffler and for what? just to let it sit on a dealers lot until isuzu decides what to do next, i think they should at least give me the trade-in value of the vehicle so i can move on. I'm not going to settle for anything less than this vehicles value before this fiasco began. You can tell isuzu, because i'm sure you guy's are talking, that there are more problem vehicles out there to be reported. This is unfair to the consumer of these vehicles, do the right thing and make isuzu pay-up. I'm still waiting on isuzu to contact me back on this problem, they have all my info what's the hold-up on the remedy, i can't drive my vehicle, pay me pre-recall value i need a car now..
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. While the nhtsa recall campaign id number: 10v436000 (suspension:rear) repair was being performed; the technician stated that the frame was severely corroded. The technician was unable to weld the frame onto the bracket because of the corrosion. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that they needed photographs of the damage. The dealer provided the manufacturer with the photographs and they are still waiting for the manufacturers response. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage 138,000.
The frame on my 2001 isuzu rodeo ls rusted out. The stabilizer bar on the driver's rear quarter detached from the frame and is irreparable. The vehicle has 120,000 miles on it.i just put a new motor in it a few months ago only to find this out months later.
2001 isuzu rodeo:extreme premature rust damage to frame of my isuzu rodeo lse which almost killed myself as well as 3 other individuals. We should have received a recall or at least a warning as a courtesy! its only peoples lives that are at stake, and i am looking for some kind of retribution from honda/isuzu before i hire an attorney. Please hold those whom are responsible for this to the morality and ethics this country was founded and based upon. I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo. I have had no injuries or accidents yet! i was having trouble with the brakes in the rear of the vehicle. The gentleman that does my inspection had put my vehicle up on the rack and informed me that my frame in the rear is not only completely rusted, but also has hole in the frame that i can put my fingers through. Areas of the frame are also cracking. My vehicle will not pass inspection because of the frame.he also advised me that if i should get rearended that the frame would not hold up to protect me.now, i can't get it inspected ,my inspection is due at end of august, nor will i be ableto trade it in because of the holes and the cracking of the rusted frame. I would not be able to even try to sell my rodeo, due to the fact of some other person getting injured or worse!if you are able, please advise me of what i can do. I feel that the isuzu company should correct this problem before something extremely bad happens to someone. Mean while my vehicle will have to sit due to the fact that i am now truly afraid to drive it.
My 2001 rodeo only has 73,000 miles and is otherwise in mint condition.i never noticed any problems with it until i took it in for an inspection.the complete frame is rusted and you can actually put your fingers through it.i am thankful that i found out now as we just purchased snowmobiles and a trailer that we would have been hauling come winter time.isuzu needs to do something about this.my vehicle is now sitting in the yard and now need to find other transportation.
I was having difficulty with the handling of my isuzu rodeo.i brought it to a service station.rust had rotted through the frame.it was in two piece on the passenger side of the vehicle.it is not repairable.

2001 isuzu rodeo - frame completely rotten.stabilizer bars in rear of truck completely separated from frame when driving almost got into an accident when vehicle went out of control....was able to slow down and pull over. I had the truck towed to a welder he laughed and said there is nothing that can be done and it is not drivable as it is a safety risk.he also said that he has seen many of the isuzu and honda's with this same problem....body and everything else are in perfect working order no rust or anything but truck is a loss due to faulty frame. Only 125000 miles on truck. Why has this well known issue (according to all of these complaints) been ignored and not recalled for this long???please help.i just had to buy a new vehicle for no reason other than a rotten frame!isuzu should be held responsible for this!
A few days ago my husband was driving our 2001 isuzu rodeo. He noticed that everytime he would step on the gas the vehicle would jolt to the left. Over the next few days it has gotten worse. My father who has been a mechanic for 35 years crawled under it only to discover that the driver's side lower rear suspension link bracket rotted of the frame. The vehicle has been in no accidents and the rest of the vehicle is in mint condition. The rest of the frame is questionable. He said there is no way to fix it legally. Can supply pictures if need be.
2001 isuzu rodeo- 109,000 miles.driving in town, rodeo felt unstable. Passenger side stabilizer bar undercarriage rusted through and broke.lucky to get home safely. The vehicle is undrivable, not road safe.opened a case with isuzu but not confident in their concern.other than the rusted frame, truck is in great shape.government needs to push for a recall or compensation.
I have a 2001 rodeo with just 75,000 that i have been told not to drive due to rot on all of the frame rails.i can put my fingers through the holes where metal should be holding my truck together.there needs to be a recall by isuzu like the one from toyota where consumers are reimbursed in cash for the loss of their vehicles..
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated thatthe under carriage frame of the vehicle was rusted. The vehicle was not inspected by a mechanic. I received a safety recall no. 10v-436 for my 2001 isuzu rodeo.i took the car to the dealershipon 12/27/10.on 12/29/10 i called to find out the status of my vehicle, i was told that the frame was totally rusted, the vehicle was unsafe to drive and that they were waiting for instructions from isuzu.on 01/03/11,i called the dealership and was told, once again, that the frame was totally rusted through and even if they proceeded with the prescribed remedy that the vehicle would not pass massachusetts inspection.i was then told that they had also contacted isuzu again about the problem and that i too, should follow up with isuzu. On 01/03/10 i emailed, left messages, and finally was able to speak to a representative who took my name and telephone number and promised a return call from a manager, as of 9 pm est i have not received a call back. In light of the safety issues with the rodeo a complaint the nstb is warranted.this car was boughtbrand new in december of 2001, it is deplorable that the frame of a nine year old car is totally rusted out and beyond repair.
Drivers side rear axle stabilizer attachment point to the car frame has rotted offcar is unsafe to drive.
2001 isuzu rodeo 80,000 miles. Owned 6 yearswhile driving on highway with no forewarning i lost control of the car. Pulled to the side of the road and then had to drive under 15 mph to safe spot. The rear drivers side control arm broke away from the car. Needed to be towed.examined by mechanic and then examined by a welder, and informed that it is un repairable due to the amount of rust to the frame.defective frame.
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo. I was driving home on november 10, 2010 and the control arm broke from the frame on the left side of my suv.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that while driving 35 mph, the frame bracket fractured causing the contact to lose control of the vehicle and drove into a ditch.the vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated they could not repair the frame because of severe corrosion and rust but they could repair the bracket under the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 10v436000(suspension:rear). The manufacturer was contacted who stated that they would only repair the bracket under the recall, but not the frame. The failure mileage was 75,000.
This is pertaining to the recall of isuzu/honda 98-2002 with the rear suspension link arms.i kind of went along with the complaints that were already started but the real problem seems to be the severe rust of the frames.the reason they appear to be separating is because the frame that they are supposed to be welded to are so rusted that there is nothing for the weld to hold onto.they are putting brackets (bandages) onto a frame that has huge rust holes.mine is so bad i could push a pencil through it.you already have pics of mine from the previous recall.the dealer told me it was too severe to put a bracket on and that i'd be hearing from isuzu about compensation, but now isuzu (corp.) is saying the brackets might work.i think this problem needs further research into "why the links our detaching".my links themselves are not rusting and would most likely be fine if the frame would not have rusted so severely.i've seen the brackets that they are putting on and then the state will not pass it for inspection because of the rust.how is that fixing the problem.i've always taken very good care of my vehicles.they body is in very good condition.the tires are brand new and i just put a motor in it right before this happened because i planned on keeping it for many more years.
Called isuzu about the recall.they had my rodeo towed to the nearest honda dealership because i found out through my personal mechanic that there was a recall and my mechanic told me that my rodeo wasn't safe to drive.three days later honda's mechanic called me and told me that my rodeo was unrepairable!the mechanic said that someone from isuzu should be getting back with me.i was also tricked!i bought my rodeo from a private individual who i can't get a hold of, so they probably knew about the recall when they sold it to me.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that after having a routine oil change, the mechanic advised him that the frame was severely rusted with holes and stated that the vehicle was not safe to drive.the vehicle was inspected by the dealer who confirmed the failure but the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 96,200.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. After inspecting the rear of the vehicle, the contact noticed a hole in the frame which showed rust throughout the entire frame. Due to the rust, the vehicle was not in drivable condition. It was towed to a welding shop where the frame was replaced. The contact called both the authorized dealer and the manufacturer who stated that the failure was normal wear and tear and there were no recalls on the vehicle. The current and failure mileages were approximately 87,000.

Shepulled over to check the vehicle and found nothing.she continued to drive a quarter of a mile and stopped again because the swaying was getting worse.upon inspecting the vehicle again she found nothing.she drove the vehicle very carefully back home. Later that day the vehicle was taken to a local mechanic and the mechanic stated that the frame was severely rusted on both sides. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. A piece of the frame from underneath my 2001 isuzu rodeo has broken off making the vehicle unable to be driven.it only has 90,000 miles and they tell me the frame is 100% rust and can't be welded/repaired.
2001 rodeo lse in excellent condition has a completely rusted out frame. Car fishtailed and nearly flipped over. Had it towed but was told it needed a whole new frame and to find a body shop. Did some research and discovered isuzu was going to issue a recall later that month. Long story short. My car has been sitting since decmeber 2010. No one contacts me, i have toc all several times and stay on hold minimum of 30mins each time. Told my car was a t5?? unrepairable and would be on the "buy back" list. Almost entering the 3rd month, i've spent a lot of money on car rentals. Isuzu offers no help and has no time line. In fact when i called isuzu in december when it first happened and guy at isuzu said he saw the repair process and he felt what was being done for the recall fix was "overkill" and my car would be up and running..won't be overkill when someone dies from this! then it takes 2 1/2 months to tell me my baby is unrepairable! what about all the work and money spent keeping this car in top shape? what about the $800 i just spent on tires before this happened? not only is this financially stressful but emotionally stressful as well. Who has time while at work to call and stay on hold anywhere from 30mins and up?? no one. To only be given the run around and that i need to wait for isuzu to call me back! not to mention also own a 99 rodeo starting to rust not has bad. I don't even have the energy and mental strength to get this car checked and on the "list"! but for my families safety i will take it to get inspected this week!
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The car is immaculate in appearance until you look under it. I took it in for a oil change, and the technician actually took me down in the service bay to get a look at the frame. I couldn't believe it. I have a 4 year old daughter, and this is my only source of transportation besides a motorcycle. I am now afraid to drive my isuzu. There must be a recall....
My isuzu rodeo frame rusted out and part that support the driver rear wheel came loose from the frame because of rust, me and my wife was on the vehicle at the time and with gods love we did not have an accident, but now the suv is now sitting in the driveway.
Related to the isuzu rodeo rear axle bracket recall, my rodeo experienced the exact same corrosion problem with the remainder of my 2001 rodeo's frame. Both my mechanic ([xxx], potters mills, pa) and my isuzu repair shop ([xxx], state college, pa) said the corrosion will not allow the vehicle to pass inspection, even with the rear axle bracket remedy provided by isuzu. Therefore, this is not an "appropriate" remedy, as described in nhtsa's "recall summary" on this site. That summary says, "in the rare event the corrosion is so severe that the reinforcement bracket remedy would not be appropriate, isuzu and honda will develop an appropriate remedy."applying the rear bracket repair is inappropriate for two reasons. First, the repair can "barely" (according to [xxx]) be made on my vehicle, and; second, the remainder of the frame (with the same type of damage caused by the same isuzu error) will not pass inspection anyway.however, i was told thursday morning by an isuzu rep at the number listed in the summary that isuzu would provide "no remedy" for anything outside of the rear bracket area detailed in the summary.this is unacceptable and contrary to nhtsa's summary. I ask that nhtsa contact isuzu and force them to comply with both the letter and the spirit of the recall remedy as described.if nhtsa and isuzu fail to enforce this, then a lawsuit against isuzu will follow.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.
Truck is well taken care of and the frame is rotted so bad that it is unrepairable, trailing arms rotted off, dealer sprayed black paint it and called it fixed. Rear bumper not attached, spare tire carrier not attached.
The frame/chassie is so rotted with holes from the back half of the truck that it appears to be unsafe to drive.
The frame attached to the rear stabilizer bar decayed off. After investigation thewhole frame is disintegrate beyond repairs.
I have a 2001 isuzu rodeo with 100,000 miles on it. I really do not want to get rid of it but the whole car is rusting out. The other day i had a flat, the tow truck driver lifted up the car and clumps of rust fell out onto the ground. Then when the spare tire was lowered a chuck of the frame along with the chain that holds the tire up fell off the car. I have brought it to isuzu who said that it is safe to drive, but how can it be safe if chunks of the car are falling off at all times.
Frame is extremely corroded behind the rear axle.so extensive that i do not want to drive it.i had it towed to isuzu repair shop over a year ago under the recall.they sprayedthe control arms in front of the rear axle with a rust inhibitor.at that time i asked about the rear of the frame as it had many holes in it.i was told it was not covered.i took the spare tire off to change a tire the other day and looking up i noticed that the frame is literally missing in the rear on both sides.i do not know what is holding the rear of the vehicle on.
Had my oil changed & asked my mechanic to check the frame as it had a previous recall on it. Following is description from mechanics invoice: "frame is weak on left side from recall repair to rear bumper. On right side in the wheel well area both sides look ok where rear axle hooks to frame:" the body is in good condition with very little rust. In the event of a rear end collision it could be very serious as numerous places in frame you can poke your finger through. Back to my complaint:this is very disappointing to me as i really like my rodeo & have had no other real issues with it. I drive my grandchildren to school everyday & haul them around on numerous occasions & this makes me very nervous that the vehicle could be unsafe! clearly there is a defect in the frame because it makes no sense that the body is in such good shape & the frame is falling apart.
Corrosion on the car frame. It snapped in half while driving. Thank god i wasn't on the highway yet. My 10 month old daughter and i would have been killed!!!!

I received a notice by mail about a recall on my rodeo, and the company had it towed to a dealership in knoxville some time in august, a month later i received a call from the dealership saying they sent the photos & videos to the company and we should hear from them soon. It is now nearing the end of october, i called the company today, & they said they never received the photos. I'm not sure why it is taking so long, i have been without a vehicle for 4 months now, since the rodeo's axle fell apart 2 months before it was even towed. The recall letter says it should only take approximately 90 min., or 3-10 hours to fix what is wrong with the axle's or they will provide an alternate remedy. I feel that more than 2 months of determining what to do with this vehicle is more than enough time. I would like to find out whether i will be getting this vehicle back fixed, or whether i need to find something else.
Transmission slips and sometimes bang into gear. The shifter linkages get stuck and have to shut off car and put it in neutral to unjam shifter. When going to take off rear end jams up.
Two daysprior to my traction bar detaching itself from the frame in the driver side rear of my 2001 isuzu rodeo that only has 82,983 miles on it. I was hearing knocking under the car. Never did see anything wrong other than the whole frame is rusted.. Driving on a main road in town with my little girl in the car i lost control luckily i have a 5 speed i was able to down shift to slow down before hitting the breaks i pulled off the road to find the stabilizer bar detached. The amount of rust and rot on the frame, any welder and mechanic that looked at it said it is not worth repairing because of the winters we have it will just fall apart again. This needs to be a recallthere are so many people out there with the same problem as me and many of us carry our children in the vehicle.

2001 isuzu rodeo.consumer writes in regards to vehicle left rear mounting point bracket failure.the consumer stated the left rear mounting point bracket failed on his vehicle, and he spent 1,100 to repair the problem. Isuzu denied reimbursement, as the repair occurred after the recall notice was issued.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. While driving 40 mph, the vehicle began to fishtail into another lane without warning. The failure also occurred on the rear driver side. The vehicle was towed. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v436000 (suspension). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 189,000.
Rear stabilizer bar fell off at frame because of rusting while driving.
Rear suspension broke cause frame to twist. Front wheels went one way and back wheels went another way. I was on the freeway and the rear control arm on the drivers side broke, causing me to go into another lane. I was lucky and there was no vehicle in this lane. I was close to home and with my vehicle dog- trailing i was able to very slowly maneuver it home. It is useless and sitting in my garage at present
Brought my 2001 isuzu rodeo in for inspection and it failed due to rotting frame and suspension bracket.spare tire fell off because carrier had rusted completely. Professional frame shop could not repair the damage and suggested that this problem needs to be resolved by isuzu.this vehicle was determined unsafe to drive.
The vehicle rear suspension rusted to the point that while driving the stabilizing bar detatched while vehicle was on the road. The failure occured after recall repair was preformed 7 years earlier. At this point the izusu company is only willing to buy the vehicle back at 1888.00 us dollars thw vehicle only had 155000 mil4es and is 16 years old. The company inspecter stated that the recall fix was only a wax which i was never alerted to untill after the failure occured. I the company notified me of thr recall fix i would have taken the responsible steps to further reinforse vehicle suspenion as ti prevent an unsafe highway occuance.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that the vehicle was in for routine inspection when he was advised that the rear frame was completely rotted from rust. The vehicle was included in the recall associated with nhtsa campaign id number: 10v436000 (suspension: rear).the vehicle was then taken to the dealer but the dealer advised that the recall did not address the failure that the contact had experienced and that they could only repair the rear brackets to the frame under the recall, and not the frame itself. The failure and the current mileages were 108,000.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that the vehicle was inspected recall 10v436000 (suspension:rear). The dealer stated that the frame was completely corroded. The dealer stated that they were able to possibly replace the brackets but regardless of the remedy, the vehicle would not be drivable. The manufacturer was contacted who stated that the recall specifically stated that only the brackets would be replaced but due to the nature of the problem, they offered to buy the vehicle back. The vin was unavailable. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 149,000.

A recall was performed to my dissatisfaction.it was for corrosion of the brackets in the rear suspension lower link of the car.it was considered a tier 4.tier 5 level means that the car has to be totaled out.the car came back with missing bolts, screws etc.it is making horrible clunking noises when you turn the wheel and it shakes when you drive.i think the underneath of my car is so rusted out that nothing could attach to it.i think that isuzu should have issued a recall to replace the whole frame of the car.i have read numerous blogs on edmunds.com relating to this same issue.it is a very serious and dangerous matter.isuzu should issue another recall or total out the vehicles before a fatality occurs.
The frame of my isuzu rodeo is full of rust/corrosion.there is a recall (recall 10v-436) on the brackets and this is not a fix. After inspection of my vehicle it was found to be a stage 4 recall. There needs to be a recall on the entire frame.this vehicle is unsafe to drive.the frame can break while driving.cannot get recall done for the brackets because parts are unavailable to the dealer (steve castrucci, cincinnati, oh).unable to drive vehicle due to this recall and feel unsafe driving it.
Corrosion on the car frame. It snapped in half while driving. Thank god i wasn't on the highway yet. My 10 month old daughter and i would have been killed!!!!
The frame/chassie is so rotted with holes from the back half of the truck that it appears to be unsafe to drive.
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that he was included in nhtsa campaign number: 10v436000 (suspension). The contact stated that the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 150,000 and the current mileage was 160,000.
2004 isuzu rodeo. Consumer writes in regards to the shield that covers the plastic gas tank being rotted through. *ldthe consumer referenced recall 13v-547. The consumer requested to have the recall repair completed.
Truck is well taken care of and the frame is rotted so bad that it is unrepairable, trailing arms rotted off, dealer sprayed black paint it and called it fixed. Rear bumper not attached, spare tire carrier not attached.

I own a 2001 isuzu rodeo, there was a recall issued in dec or jan timeframe in regards to corrosion of the frame. I took my vehicle to an isuzu rodeo dealership like it stated on feb 17. The dealer did state that they would not be able to get to the vehicle until the following week. On feb 24 the dealership did contact us and stated the vehicle was unrepairable and that they had submitted photos and documentation to isuzu. I spoke with isuzu on march 8 almost 2 weeks after they received the information from the dealer and they seemed unconcerned and stated that the dealer's pictures were inconclusive and that they didn't see why they could not put the brackets on the vehicle. I stated that i was told by the dealership told me the issue was beyond repair and isuzu stated they needed more photos. It is going on three weeks without a vehicle and it seems isuzu does not seem to care about the fact the there are individuals out there without and vehicle and not to mention the fact that the vehicle is completely unsafe to drive.
I bought the truck in march of this year and i did not now about defects and in early september i took the vehicle in for a oil change and i learn that the truck has severe corrosion underneath, my mechanic told me to stop using it because the vehicle is unsafe to drive and i can put my life in risk because the rear axle can snap off any moment and have an accident. The mechanic told me that the damage is so severe that is not repairable. I'm now stuck paying for a loan but i can't drive the car. The dealer and isuzu want no responsibility.i believe isuzu should recall the vehicle and buy it from me. I have pictures to prove the severe corrosion.

I started to pull away from the curb and heard a screeching noise and the rear end of my car began to sway back and forth. I pulled back up to curb and looked under rear of car. I saw cracked, rusted frame and a broken stabilizer bar.
No rust on the body panels/sheet metal whatsoever.please advise,
Steering wheel makesloud vibration noise when turning toleft or making left turns. Vehicle been todealer on several occasions, andproblem still reoccurring. Feel free to provide any further information.
Thank you, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
While driving to work, vehicle started swaying in the back like it was hydroplaning. Same thing happened on way home. Didn't drive it during the next two days, same thing happened the next time. On fourth day, i noticed a bracket had come apart from the rusted frame. Car was bought in 2018, and am still paying for it. Did not know about the recall.
Left rear frame rusted through evidentially the person new of the problem now i have no title and they stole my trade of a 95 lexus gs300.
This rodeo was purchased in july.after a test drive, a vibration was noticed in the steering wheel and ride of the vehicle.we were told by the salesman and sales manager that this was normal due to tire flat spots from sitting on the dealers' lot.we were told to drive the vehicle for 500+ miles and see if the problem alleviates itself.at the same time, we agreed to do this with an alignment done and the tires balanced and rotated later.we took the vehicle in on august 2, 2001 and were told that two tires had to be replaced due to the tires not being round and would not balance.we were able to get two new tires that had already been ordered fro another customer's rodeo (same problem).the wheels were not replaced at this point, only the tires.we were told they could give us the other customer's tires, since they knew he was out of town.this was fine with us.an alignment was also done at this time.the problem was better but not good enough.a little time revealed the same problem was reoccuring and the wobble was getting worse!we took the vehicle back on august 11, 2001.we were then told that all 4 tires and wheels had to be replaced under a tsb that was out for this problem.i logged a complaint wirh isuzu regarding the fact that i had to wait up to 10 business days for the replacement wheels and tires to arrive.my concern is that all 4 tires were bad, two which have already been replaced at this point, and i am being told that it is ok for me to drive my vehicle on the highway and tat no danger exists with these tires.i do not agree, since the entire wheel assemblies are being replaced.i will be more than happy to provide copies of repair work.to date, my wheels have not been replaced.the wheels on my rodeo are the steel wheels, not the aluminum alloy. 2001 isuzu rodeo- 109,000 miles.driving in town, rodeo felt unstable. Passenger side stabilizer bar undercarriage rusted through and broke.lucky to get home safely. While driving the vehicle the rear suspension broke causing the vehicle to swerve into oncoming traffic. Luckily there was no accident and the vehicle was towed to a friends home until we could determine what needed to be done.i had known about the recall since late december but was unable to get the vehicle in to be checked that quickly.the closest repair facility was 95 miles away from where i lived.bill colwell ford in hudson, iowa was contacted and the vehicle was towed from my friends home.an attempt to repair was made but it was later determined it would not be possible.i have waited for isuzu to contact me for over a week regarding a repurchase remedy for this issue.i have contacted isuzu as well as the service manager at bill colwell ford, and isuzu is holding up the process.i am paying payments and insurance on a salvage vehicle which doesn't seem fair.i am greatly concerned they will attempt to undervalue my vehicle if they ever get that far in the process.i am without a vehicle and i am extremely angry that more isn't being done to help.

Within the past few weeks we received a recall notice on our 2001 isuzu rodeo. I called the local isuzu dealer and was told that they have not received the "tech bulletin" nor the parts to fix the vehicle but they would call me when they could get our vehicle in. They said it was only a minor issue that required spraying an anti rust spray on a part of the undercarriage. Yesterday, 01/30/2011 the left forward mounting bracket ripped away from the frame causing our vehicle to go into a irrecoverable clockwise spin. My wife and 2 year old son were in the vehicle with me. My wife was struck by flying debris and got some scratches and bruises. My son was secured in his car seat but was struck by flying debris and he got a contusion on his forehead and a black eye. I was able to fight through the spin and we ended up in a ditch with no other vehicles involved. We were 5 minutes away from being on the highway at highway speeds. If this were the case there would have been no way to avoid a life threatening crash. These vehicles are unsafe and are rolling death traps. Isuzu has told me that this is a level 4 failure and probablymy vehicle will not be repaired under the recall due to the extensive corrosion. They state in their recall notice that there will be an alternative remedy for these situations. When i asked what the alternative remedy was i was told that they have not figured out what they will be doing yet. This is unacceptable.

Driving thru parking lot around 20mph when a loud noise heard from rear of vehicle, vehicle became impossible to steer.

Issue is with a safety recall # 10v-436 excessive corrosion of frame and bracket which mine is in very bad condition on 04/04/11 i brought my vehicle to rothrock motors for a diagnose.the service manager also called isuzu 877-460-0706 as well with no response for a remedy. In the meantime my car has not been drivable due to this condition and have had to arrange transportation daily for 3 months due to the fact they are unwilling to rent me a car while this process is solved which i believe they should buy back the vehicle as the service advisor from rothrock motors stated to me when the car was inspected and is noted on the invoice # iscs839275 "vehicle has more damage to frame awaiting response from isuzu" this is my case # 11143015 for this recall. Any help in resolving this matter is appreciated i have been inconvenienced far too long through no fault of my own due to this failure.consumer e-mailed pictures. 07/07/11

The rightside rear tire blew out while driving on the interstate highway. There was no road hazard, clear roadway, and the driver did not strike any obstacles. There are no objects in the tire tread. Upon going flat, the driver immediately pulled over to the right side from the center lane and stopped as soon as possible. This did cause major sidewall damage due to the short ride on the deflated tire. The tire and vehicle are brand new with less than 3,000 miles. Dealer said that this was not their responsibility and sent me to the tire dealer. Bridgestone tire dealer said that due to the damage to the sidewall, he could not determine the cause of the tire failure, therefore, no warranty could be enforced. Bridgestone is the sister of firestone which has been having major problems with tires on suv's. This may be related???? had this been a front tire, a major accident may have resulted. We are very concerned about the safety of the vehicle and reliability of the tires. (tiresize: p245/70r16)
The contact owns a 2001 isuzu rodeo.
The tire had a complete blow out in such a way that the outside wall of the tire completely was cut out of the rest of the tire. The car was being driven on the wheel rim while i was trying to bring the car under control. The incident was reported to the emergency road service of isuzu. The road was a straight and well maintained piece of us84 approximately 15 miles outside of brownwood texas. (tiresize: p245/70r16)
Complaint regarding defective bridgestone tire dueler h/l's.*mr the consumer stated the tires were dry rotted and cracked, the firestone/bridgestone dealer stated that was not considered normal wear and tear.
Consumer had to change tires continuously from bridgestone to michelin, resulting in damaged tires. Consumer states bridgestone tires were replaced with michelin, size# 245 70rx16, dot#m3bua3cx3101, tire. The tire pressure was increased again, since tire pressure increase vehicle is very harsh and hard riding on windy days and they are wearing uneven already. Isuzu representative says this is normal for a suv. *yd
This rodeo was purchased in july.after a test drive, a vibration was noticed in the steering wheel and ride of the vehicle.we were told by the salesman and sales manager that this was normal due to tire flat spots from sitting on the dealers' lot.we were told to drive the vehicle for 500+ miles and see if the problem alleviates itself.at the same time, we agreed to do this with an alignment done and the tires balanced and rotated later.we took the vehicle in on august 2, 2001 and were told that two tires had to be replaced due to the tires not being round and would not balance.we were able to get two new tires that had already been ordered fro another customer's rodeo (same problem).the wheels were not replaced at this point, only the tires.we were told they could give us the other customer's tires, since they knew he was out of town.this was fine with us.an alignment was also done at this time.the problem was better but not good enough.a little time revealed the same problem was reoccuring and the wobble was getting worse!we took the vehicle back on august 11, 2001.we were then told that all 4 tires and wheels had to be replaced under a tsb that was out for this problem.i logged a complaint wirh isuzu regarding the fact that i had to wait up to 10 business days for the replacement wheels and tires to arrive.my concern is that all 4 tires were bad, two which have already been replaced at this point, and i am being told that it is ok for me to drive my vehicle on the highway and tat no danger exists with these tires.i do not agree, since the entire wheel assemblies are being replaced.i will be more than happy to provide copies of repair work.to date, my wheels have not been replaced.the wheels on my rodeo are the steel wheels, not the aluminum alloy.the complaint loged with isuzu was not taken seriously and i was treated as inferior to the person logging my complaint.i know i am not the only one with this problem!
Tires bounce&thump on my new vehicle at low speed, therefore i beleave some belts are broken. The dealer rotated the tires, but it did not fix the problemthey refused to replace the problem tires.i feel the tires are unsafe . I want the dealer or tire manufacturer to replace the bad tires . I will greatlyapreaceate any help i can get with this matter . (dot number: y7mt cbjtiresize: p245/70r16)
This vehicle has had a vibration since the day i picked it up.i was told to drive the vehicle for 1500 miles to 'round out' the tires at which point the dealership would rebalance the tires.this has been done and the problem persists.the steering column between the back of the steering wheel and the actual column emits a scraping noise.this vehicle is replacing a 2000 model that was returned to isuzu for the same conditions.the dealer replaced a part called a 'clock spring' in the 2000 model to fix the steering noise but it was ineffective.the dealer also repeatedly rebalanced the tires and eventually replaced the tires on the 2000 model none of which corrected the problem.the vehicle is also surging under acceleration.this problem is to be addressed this week.my primary concern is the vehicles safety at highway speeds.the vibration is prevalant in the steering wheel and the body of the vehicle and doesnt seem safe.
Received recall notice and had it performed at authorized repair facility. Couldn't give us any info on extent of damage when we picked up the 2001 isuzu rodeo. They said they had mailed us our paperwork and didn't have any details. Received paperwork in mail 1 day later. Alarming notes from mechanic read as follows, " performed recall # 10v 436 inspect car, found parts of left side frame rotting away, showed service manager / called isuzu, could not get through, performed repair procedure for stage four, found holes in the frame. Per service managers request, reinforcement bracket type b." i called the dealership back for explanation. The service manager told me that they completed the repair according to isuzu's specifications and if isuzu thinks the car is unsafe they will contact me. In addition to this car being highly unsafe; the exhaust system came back with a perforation and the transmission is making a chain like rattling sound as a result of the recall repair.
No rust on the body panels/sheet metal whatsoever.please advise,
1/20/2010: while driving experienced inability to control vehicle.upon inspection swing arm/brackets had rusted away from frame.vehicle repaired and was covered under safety campaign/recall 10v-436.during state inspection this year (8/23/2011) vehicle was deemed unsafe, undriveable and possibly unfixable due to inability to obtain parts.the cause is severe rust in the frame.i spoke with isuzu at (800) 255-6727 and was told that though this has been a problem with many people there is no coverage for the rust and frame damage."everyone experiencing this problem is in the same boat, out of luck"
We received a recall notice for frame rust.we took it into a local isuzu repair shop on 12-22-2010; they told us the frame was rusted through and that they needed to order a part to fix it.we have been waiting several months because the repair shop cannot get the part from isuzu.they also cannot tell us when the part will come in.we feel the vehicle is unsafe and cannot understand why isuzu is not required to fix the problem in a timely manner.how long does a company have to fix a recalled vehicle?are they legally required to fix the problem?
I received a recall #10v-436 form in the mail from the isuzu owner relations center 1400 s. Douglass road, suite 100 anahelm, ca 92806 on or about november 2010.it stated that i should call isuzu special assistance center to identify the isuzu service center closest to me. I was told the parts to repair my vehicle would not be available until the middle of january 2011.i called and an appointment for february 18, 2011 at bournival isuzu where i bought the suv brand new in august 2001. The suv was due for a sticker january 2011.january 10 2011 this vehicle was in an accident.there was minor damage to the rear left side totaling $2,800.when the body shop further investigating under the vehicle he noticed extensive frame damage rotting with holes and extensive rust.he determined the suv was unsafe.he also noticed the axel was 3/4 of an inch out of line.he then called our insurance company and the adjuster reinvestigated the vehicle.the adjuster at this time totaled the suv.the insurance company took ownership of the vehicle and subtracted a large sum of money from the finale amount because of the holes and rust he found on the frame undercarriage,to look at this vehicle you would have thought it was years younger then it was.there was no rust, dents or scratches.this vehicle should have gone another 100,000 miles at least.it was garaged and meticulously maintained with records from the date of purchase.i was told by friends it drove and sounded like a brand new automobile.my intention was to have it for ten more years.at this time i am requesting the amount disqualified by the insurance company for the frame metal decomposition and an amount for loss of longevity and failure to fulfill my expectations.

*sc
Almost got hit 4 times because of loss of power/ almost hit a child when itaccelerated and i could not stop
When braking on occasion vehicle will die, also on separate occasions the vehicle reduce power andcheck engine light will come on. The vehicle . Also, idle surges. The consequences could result in being hit from behind when sudden stopping. Also , the reduce power results in not going over 20 mph at maximum with pedal on hill which could result in an accident since in this mode vehicle cannot climb hills and on highwaycould be dangerous sincesudden speed drop.on two occasions have had vehicle checked. Result showed throttle postion sensor on diagnostictest changed both sensors one twice with nopostive results .
Engine dies, cruise control & check transmission light comes on.random and frequent times
Sometimes when i'm driving a light come up power reduce and i can't go faster its going slow down and just shut off.
While driving the vehicle at any speed the the cruise control will come on/off by itself.the dealer has been notified and the problem still occurs.the consumer is requesting a new vehicle if the cruise control cannot be fixed.*scc
While driving or coming to a complete stop consumer's vehicle suddenly surged forward and rear ended another vehicle.
2001 isuzu rodeo ls 4dr 4wd suv, climate control fan switch stopped operating.the unit was removed from the dash and an investigation concluded the switch was overheated and caused it to fail.the entire climate control unit was replaced and worked fine thereafter.a year later in may of 2010, the unit stopped operating once again and a small amount of smoke poured through the dash where the unit is located.it was removed once again and the wire connection to the fan switch melted to the unit this time.i can not find anyone who is willing to repair it this time and have found several other forums online where other owners of this particular vehicle are having similar problems.
