I was in an accident on july 20,2006.a girl ran a red light and i hit her in the passenger side of her car head on with my 2000 isuzu rodeo.it was a full frontal collision for me and my children.luckily , we are always buckled up because none of my airbags deployed at all.the other car was going about 60 mph and her airbag deployed when ihit her but mine did not.luckily, my childrenwere not hurt badly but unfortunately, i sustained neck, back and knee injuries.i was and still am very upset that my airbags failed.even the owner of the body shop i use was in shock that they did not deploy as the impact was enough to split the frame of my rodeo and total it out.i will not buy another isuzu and i will also not recommend them to my family or friends in the future.thank you for your time, i hope i can help another family from getting injured.
While driving 8 mph consumer'svehicle collided with vehicle in front. Upon impact, both frontal air bags failed to deploy. Vehicle was towed to a garage for inspection. The cause had not been determined.

Dt*: the contact stated a fire erupted in the vehicle while driving.the vehicle had just been filled with fuel. While stopping at a stop light the vehicle began to hesitate as if it were going to stall. The fire was first noticed on the front passenger side.based on the fire departments investigation the fire started in the engine compartment.however, an arson investigator was contacted who determined the fire was electrical and started in an electrical box located near the battery.the vehicle was totaled as a result of the incident.the police were alerted but did not arrive on the scene. Updated 04/04/06.
While driving down the road at a rate of 55mph the car died out and we were having a hard time controlling it to get to the shoulder. We pulled over and tried to start the car and it would not start. We turned the key off and the lights on the dash would light up. I had to disconnect the battery. I connected the battery and the car started. Also i can be pulling out of my driveway and i hit my brakes and my car dies out. I go to start it and it will not start. I have to wait a bit and then the car starts. My car dies out randomly, it does not matter what speed i am going and the car dies out when i push my brakes. This is a safety issue. I almost caused an accident because my car dies out and the cars behind me don't know what is going on.
Check engine light comes on, gas gauge shows empty then goes up. Check engine light goes on and off. Vehicle runs fine. Checked problem code at advance auto parts(free code check) says fuel level sensor a circuit high input. Advance auto man says this is a common problem with isuzu vehicles and even the honda passport. Have checked online message boards for the problem and it is a common problem. Isuzu should be held responsible for manufacturing faulty gas sensors. I have a 2000 rodeo with only 63000 miles on it and i take care of it.
So many electrical issues to start with. The first issue was with the windows. The driver side window would not go up, so we got the switch tested, switch tested ok so we purchased a new motor. Install the new motor and window will not go up. Then the passenger window started to act up intermittently. Then the aux plugin blew a fuse, change the fuse and it blew again. Noticed there was corrosion all the time at battery cables, so i changed the battery. Then the starter was no good. Changed the starter and now the battery is not good. Checked to see if there is a ground at the starter;none found. Take battery out and exchange. In the meantime the car stalls out intermittently. I can be going 50mph or 25mph, it won't matter, the car just stalls out.i am unable to control the wheel when this happens. Radio goes off and on sometimes but my main concern is the car stalling out.i can also smell sometimes wires melting. I open the hood to check and i find nothing. I service the car every 4 months. My mechanic advised for me to take it to someone who can check the electrical. There are too many electrical issues going on with this vehicle. This cannot be normal or ok. I still have not been able to use the front windows. And the fuse still blows for the aux plugin. Will be checking on alternator next but the dash does not indicate any issue with the battery not charging.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. The contact observed smoke under the hood while driving 10 mph and immediately shut the engine off and got out of the vehicle. The fire department was called and by the time they arrived the vehicle was engulfed in flames. The fire department confirmed that it was an electrical fire. The vehicle was destroyed.no one was injured and a fire report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contacts home so that a representative from the manufacturer could conduct an investigation. Claim#10041003 was filed with the isuzu manufacturer. The failure mileage was 119,000.
While the vehicle was parked, it caught on fire on it's own. The fire department extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to a dealer for inspection. The cause has not been determined at this time. Please provide further details.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo.while driving approximately 25 mph, the vehicle vibrated and jerked when the brake pedal was depressed.there were no warning lights illuminated on the instrument panel.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and they stated that the front brakes were overheated and cracked.the vehicle was repaired.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic on four separate occasions for identical failures.recently, the mechanic stated that the failures were related to a defect with the antilock brake system unit and electrical issues.the vehicle has not been repaired.the failure mileage was 90,000 and current mileage was 91,313.
I purchased an isuzu rodeo, 2000 ls 3.2l v6.the gas gauge has been showing empty since i purchased it.the check engine light comes on as well.i went through hundreds of complaints on the internet with the same problem.isuzu should pay for it!

My car has stalled on me several times. Was serviced but still stalling in the midst of driving. While vehicle is running makes loud unfamillar noises.
2000 isuzu rodeo (purchsed as new)-breaks needed to be replaced within first 2 years.-oil needs to be added every month. Dealer could not find problem, said it was normal for isuzus.does not burn or leak.-stereo/6 cd changer needed to be replaced, broke.dealer said it was faulty.-windsheild wipers broke - electrical switch faulty-car stalled 2 x without any warning.one while driving 40mph and the other at a stop light.dealer said it was due to a bad egr valve ($450)-car pings constantly.dealer first recommended to use high grade gas- then about a year later said to use low grade gas b/c the high grade gas might have caused the egr valve problem!-transmission mode control switch broke.put in drive and dashboard said it was still in park, caused car to grind and buck forward.($460) dealer said this is a common problem in izusu rodeo's.*ph
The light to makeup mirror on the passenger side flickers or doesn't turn on at all. Not a big problem.. Just makes the car seem imperfect.

In december 2003, we purchased our 2000 isuzu rodeo ls with 55,987 miles. We followed the recommendedguidelines for purchasing a used automobile.taking every measure to insure that we were purchasing a vehicle that would perform well for us.we had a diagnostic test, also known as a used vehicle inspection, performed at our local isuzu dealer. The vehicle passed. We then ran a car fax history report, everything checked out there as well. The vehicle then passed a smog check with flying colors. Four thousand miles went by and we performed a routine oil change. In another four thousand miles we had complete engine failure!there was no indication of service needed, no oil leaks, no red lights on the dash board, nothing!just a slight ticking noise and twenty miles later extreme engine failure, diagnosed as a "major oil leak, a blown engine" due to a "definite internal problem".so, i have a properly maintained and documented isuzu, that i only drove for 9,000 miles, just outside of the second owner warranty of 60,000 miles. This vehicle is sitting in my front yard with the defective engine still in it.i'm demanding isuzuassist in a "gesture of goodwill" by replacing this defective engine in my isuzu with a new factory engine. If isuzu does not take advantage of my request i will demand my rights under the california lemon law that they buy this unsafe lemon back from me. I have done extensive research (this research also explained the occasional stalling we experienced) on isuzus and have confirmed a history of countless defects with these cars. This information can be verified on the nhtsa and the cas web sites. I urge anyone else encountering problems with their isuzus to document and follow through with your concerns through the appropriate channels .... Nhtsa and cas. The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo.the contact smelled the radiator burning.a mechanic stated that the thermostat failed.isuzu stated that the thermostat, water pump, and oil seals needed to be replaced at the cost of $1,090.while idling at a stop sign, the vehicle shut down and would not restart.the vehicle had to be towed.currently, the vehicle will not start and the diagnosis was that the trolley failed and caused the timing chain to come off the engine.the failure caused the engine to expand.the contact was informed that his vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 01i002000 (engine and engine cooling:engine).the current and failure mileages were 77,000.
While driving fuel does not register. The gauge stays on empty. Also, oil does not flow through to the engine . While driving at 65 mph the engine completely blew up. Consumer took vehicle todealer several times.
There is no incident (the incident date listed is actually the date of purchase), however. Description incomplete.i own a 2000 isuzu rodeo and have never received any information about recalls on my vehicle.i was informed that a recent recall was announced in reference to the braking system.also, i found on the internet, information about the following recalls: air bags frontal - recall # 02v213000 - date of recall:08/09/02 engine & engine cooling - recall # 01i002000 - date of recall:06/05/01 air bags frontal - recall # 01v055000 - date of recall:02/28/01i never received any recall notices and feel that since my vehicle has not been checked for the above problems, it may be unsafe.please advise as to what i should do next.
An ongoing intermittent problem with engine stalling when slowing down to a stop or accelerating from a stop position.vehicle would intermittently restart at times or not at all until the next day. Vehicle has been to the dealer on four separate occasions, and the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem each time.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that the vehicle was consuming one quart of oil per week. The oil was not leaking nor mixing with any other fluids but would burn off when transferred through the cylinders. The vehicle was inspected by a mechanic who stated that the failure could potentially cause the engine to fail. The vehicle was not repaired. The engine later failed. The failure mileage was 100,000 and the current mileage was 123,000.
Our 2000 isuzu rodeo 3.5 l v6 habitually burns oil. Has done so for years have found hundreds of similar posts about the same thing. Engine just blew up due to the engine being low on oil. Modest estimates put repair bills in the $4000-$5000 range (more than the car is worth). Isuzu acknowledges that a design flaw is the root cause of the issue and has released a "service bulletin" and will repair the problem if under warranty but has failed to release a full recall to help those of us who are out of warranty.

2000 isuzu rodeo hard to start and will stall at red lights or going down the road, no one can find out why.
Ehicle stalled at various speeds. Taken to dealer for check up several times, but the cause was undetermined.
It had been less than 5000 miles since the last oil change.the truck started making a really loud clicking noise, then stalled minutes later.a rod was thrown through the block, and 2 pistons were destroyed.it cost about $6000, which the warranty company only paid half.they replaced it with a used engine, and i am already having problems with oil consumption.
Vehicle is very unstable due to insufficent dampening of the supension, dealer says this there is no problem. Truck will bottom out on slight bumps, and bounce up and down as if you were in a boat, the suspension parts are inferior compared to the weight of the vehicle. Condition is very unsafe and could cause loss of control in certain driving situations. Bounce = loss of tread contact to pavement = loss of control. All tires/points of supension (springs/shocks) have the same problem. Would not reccomend this vehicle to anyone other than a pirate, as they are used to the heaving and yawing of a ship.-----------catalitic converter / engine ~ catalitic converter was glowing red one day (with the usual check engine light) jiffylube employee in the pit pointed this problem out to me, laughing and saying it was right next to the gas line, which could cause a fire. Dealer replaced cat and now the truch hesitates/sputters in first gear and even more so in second gear.----------------seatbelt~on passender side binds up without provocation, limiting movement of passenger from the sholder, dealer said it was normal but it is not like the drivers side seatbelt tension that binds when there is actualy a stronger force opposing it.
After replacing the body mounts, balancing and rotating the tires twice, replacing all 4 tires, and 3 alingments, the vehicle still pulled to the right and had front end and rear end vibrations.we prevailed at bbb arbitration and in dec. 2000 the mfg. Repurchased the vehicle.
I bought this car used with 50128 miles in april 3, 2004. On, july 12, 2004 around 55000 miles. I stoppedand let the car running for 3 mins.i came back and the fuel sensor low light was flashing and the car said i was empty, but i knew i wasn't because i just filled the tank up that day.i started going and the fuel sensor said i had all my gas back. After that, everyday, the sensor will say low fuel after the sensor has passed 3/4 of a tank. On, july 15, when the fuel light comes on for sometime the check engine light will come on and stay on until i fill the gas tank up and drive for several miles. I am going to take it to my mechanic and maybe the dealership where i bought the car to solve this problem. *la
I have had to repeatedly put oil in my 2000 isuzu rodeo.there is no engine leaks. Yet, it burns oil.the engine light only comes on when the engine is bone dry.in reading online forums, i was directed to place a complaint with this organization and also found out that i am not the only one with this problem but isuzu is aware of this situation and does nothing to take of care of it or their customers!
At times when coming to a stop with foot on brake vehicle motor revs and lurches hard to keep stopped and you at times wind up in the middle of an intersection. I purchased the car from my sister because she was to scared to drive it. Vehicle was taken to isuzu dealer twice but still has the problem.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo.while driving various speeds over a bump, the contact noticed that the transmission and cruise control indicators would illuminate on the instrument panel.on occasion, the vehicle will suddenly shut off when driving over a bump.the vehicle has not been diagnosed by the dealer.the current mileage was 102,000 and failure mileage was 90,000.
The fuel gauge did not work.the check engine light remained on.the consumer didn't know how much fuel was in the tank or if there were problems with the engine. *scc
Intermittently the vehicle would not start properly and the consumer had to crank the vehicle several time before starting. The check engine light and the fuel light would illuminate after the vehicle was started and stay on momentary before it went out. Dealer was not notified at this time. *nlm

While traveling 70 mph on the interstate i began hearing a knocking sound but did not loose power.i pulled over at next exit and as i pulled over the oil light came on. I checked the oil and it had none i recently had the oil changed.i have heard of multiple complaints of this and i will probably have to buy a new engine.i've also had transmission problems, the check engine light comes on, and i recently had the fuel gauge fixed, in all, i'd say the isuzu rodeo has given me many problems.thank you isuzu manufacturers for the constant problems i have to face with this rodeo.
Vehicle continues to stall, checked transmission. And cruise set light come on seconds before vehicle stops. At first it happened a couple of times a months, then weekly, then almost daily. Mechanics could not duplicate problem. Vehicle stalled on may 28, 2004 directly infront of isuzu dealership! service manager coasted the car into the shop. "supposidly" a code appeared and i was told it was the egr valve. It cost close to $500 to repair. Exactly one week later car stalled again. The vehicle is very dangerous to drive due to the excessive stalling. It has stalled on the interstate, at stop signs, and on busy highways.
Dt*:the contact stated while driving 55 mph on a two lane road the engine stalled.the vehicle was towed to the dealership, who determined the engine wiring harness failed and it was replaced.the manufacturer was contacted.updated 06/07/2006.
Vehicle is using what some mechanics and non-mechanics consider excessive oil usage for a 2000 isuzu rodeo. Currently my vehicle is using 1. 80 quarts of oil between oil changes, when it gets changed every 3000 miles.both isuzu and the dealership consider this "normal".

Intermittently vehicle will stall out and die without warning at various speeds. Dealer has inspectedvehicle, and could not duplicate or correct problem. Please provide further information.
While making a stop and without any indication vehicle would stall.the stalling had resultedin several close misses and the vehicle was dangerous to drive.
Bought used 2000 isuzu rodeo 2 years ago only having 30,000 miles on it, since i bought it i have put oil in it about every 2 weeks, no leaks, just always seeming to be low.a week ago it just stopped, towing it to a garage only to find out it lost oil pressure which caused it to stop.the end result is it needs a new engine and it only has 50,000 miles on it.i do not have 7000 dollars to fix this problem and am at a loss as to what to do, on top of a car payment on top of it.is there any recall or help i can get from the manufacturer?
Since ownership the check engine light continually comes on, dealership repaired several times, however continues to illuminate constantly, possible engine failure. *mjs
Vehicle will stall out without prior notice. Dashboard light will come on/ transmission and cruise lights also on.
Consumer stated while driving, there was a noise and then the engine stalled.
While driving at 45 mph heard a popping sound, motor shut off. Took vehicle to dealer, and they stated vehicle was out of oil. Consumer stated oil was put in vehicle regularly. Please provide any further information.
We are constantly adding oil to the vehiclewithin a months time no oil will measure on the dipstick and there are no signs of leakage. When the truck reaches over 50mph the vehicle vibrates and pulls to the right everytime
While drivingat approximately 40mph vehicle stalled inmiddle of traffic. Had no warning. Was able to restart after awhile.took vehicle to dealership to check. Mechanic indicatedintake gasket needed to be replaced. However, failed to solve problem.
Vehicle will stall when slowing down to come to a stop. This has happened numerous times, up to 12 times in one day.the dealer blames the problem on bad gas but the vehicle was stalling toa point it was unsafe and dangerous.
Problems with 2000 rodeo's emission control system.*mr
In july 2000 consumer heard a pinging noise, anddealerdiscovered that catalytic converter and muffler needed to be replaced. In mar 2001, while driving 45 mph consumer heard a pinging sound, and noticed smoke comingfrom floor board neardrivers feet..it was a smoldering fire that burned a whole in floorboard. Dealer found catalytic converter had gotten so hot it started a fire.

Transmission problems render this vehicle completely unsafe.transmission seal leaking and needed to be replaced.the four wheel drive light continually flashes and does not stay on.the vehicle also has a shimmy at 50 mph.the engine key became stuck in the lock cylinder.
When driving at any speed and when applying brake pedal to make a gradual stop, and when approaching an intersection or a traffic light, brake pedal traveled tofloorboard, causing extended stopping distance/ brake fade away. Consumer noticed shortly thereafter that brakes kicked back in. Consumer has contacteddealer, dealer was unable to determinecause ofproblem. The vehicle pulls to the right. The a/c malfunctioned. The vehicle vibrates at speed of 35 mph. The cd player failed.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo.the contact stated that a malfunction in the security system in his vehicle seemed to cause it to repeatedly shut off.while driving various speeds, the vehicle would completely shut off, which would occasionally cause the power steering and power brakes to fail.he was able to stop the vehicle by applying more pressure to the brake pedal.the most recent failure occurred while driving approximately 55 mph.he called the closest dealer that was 250 miles away and was informed that they would have to inspect the vehicle.the manufacturer has not been notified.the current mileage was 92,186 and failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

No defect, but could not find any other form to use to contact nhtsa. I wish to complain about eyestrain arising from headlight glare.in my car, suv headlights are level with my rearview mirror. Freeway driving at night is very strainful and tiring.
Headlight switch on 2000 isuzu rodeo has a tab on the light stalk that goes toward the front to turn on headlights. When dimming the lights pulling back on the lever can often shut off headlights. Happened three times in the last year. Accident caused by lights going off. Vehicle totaled on a tree and injuries to occupants as a result.
2000 isuzu rodeo lse - fuel tank sending unit is faulty.it blinks when the tank was recently filled and the check engine light goes on for no apparent reason.if the fuel tank sending unit does not get recalled, a class lawsuit may be filed.numerous complaints about this problem.for more complaints regarding this matter: http://www.automotiveforums.com/t193601.html.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo.the contact was having the vehicle repaired at an authorized dealer for unrelated failures when the contact was informed that the under frame was severely corroded.the contact stated that the vehicle was repaired at an authorized dealer four times in the past for a corroded intake system and fuel tank filler neck.due to the corrosion of the fuel tank filler neck the contact was no longer able to refuel the vehicle without gasoline spillage. The vehicle was not further repaired. The failure mileage was unknown and the current mileage was 93,000.
The gas gauge is faulty.i have heard of many complaints and that when there are hard shifts (turns) or press harder on the acceleration causes the gas gauge to work incorrectly and the gas light comes on.this is happening to my car currently.furthermore, after the light comes on the check engine light comes on.
*la
The gas gauge was not working correctly.the gas light indicated the tank was empty after fueling.vehicle failed md. Inspection to due the failed unit. Consumer was informed the defective componet was no longer under warranty. *nlm
Lost control of vehicle which resulted in a front end collision. My speed was about 45 mph at time of impact. Vehicle ignited instantly. The flames were coming from under the hood, closest to the windshield on the passenger side. Was prompted by a relative to file a complaint. I was told that the vehicle should not have burned and should have had a cut-off for fuel line. The vehicle was totally consumed and exploded within what seemed like 5-15 min. (wasn't really looking at my watch, to busy running away from car!) had no major problems with car up until then other than the check engine light coming on periodically, which dealer had no explanation for. P*nlm
Intermittently the vehicle would not start properly and the consumer had to crank the vehicle several time before starting. The check engine light and the fuel light would illuminate after the vehicle was started and stay on momentary before it went out. Dealer was not notified at this time. *nlm
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that in 2008 while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled. A local mechanic replaced the fuel pump but the failure continued. The engine would not start so the vehicle was towed to a local mechanic who stated that the fuel pump and subframe had holes due to corrosion. The contact called the manufacturer who advised the contact to have the vehicle towed to an authorized dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 120,000 and the current mileage was 150,000.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the driver rear side suspension fractured and separated from the frame. The vehicle was taken to a local repair shop who stated that the control socket on the driver side axle needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact also stated that when filling the fuel tank, the fuel began to spill back out. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that there were holes in the fuel line. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.
Vehiclesporadicly stalls when slowing to stop or when already stopped. The vehicle "bucks" when accelerating from stopped position. All dash lights come on when the vehicle stalls. After a few minutes of rest, vehicle will start and dash lights turn off. Nothing will register in the computer system. Throttle body has been cleaned, fuel filter has been changed. Mechanic cannot duplicate problem. All signs point to bad intake manifold gasket but mechanic refuses to replace even at owners request. This problem has happened 7 times in the 3 months i have owned it.
Gas light comes on during turns and at other random times and gas gauge drops to empty when tank is full.
Fuel leaked while vehicle was running under the engine compartment. The dealership determined that the fuel return hose failed. A cause could not be determined at the time of repair. It was subsequently repaired.dt
Fuel gauge does not function, causing check engine light to stay on. *nlm
Bad fuel sending unit! hundreds of people have defective fuel sending units on their 1998-2000 isuzu rodeos! the company should be forced to fix this free with a recall! i shouldn't have to pay $250 to fix a problem on my 2000 rodeo that they knew about for 2 years before my car was built. The gas gauge shows empty when the tank is 1/4 tank, and the check engine light comes on.
While driving fuel does not register. The gauge stays on empty. Also, oil does not flow through to the engine . While driving at 65 mph the engine completely blew up. Consumer took vehicle todealer several times.
(1) normal fueling and driving (2) fuel level indicator fails to report accurately, fuel lamp fails and lights prematurely; check engine lamp fails and also lights and seems to be triggered by the inaccurate low fuel level events; owner is annoyed at prematurely filling gas tank and would like manufacturer/dealer to resolve these problems.problem persists despite following dealer recommendations (3) dealership advised that 'check engine' lamp actually refers to the gas cap, dealer recommended tightening gas cap to resolve check engine lamp issue. Refilling gas tank and driving a few miles resolved premature fuel lamp issue, but only temporarily.these issues reoccur within driving 50 miles of a full tank.check engine lamp issue persists.premature low fuel lamp issue persists.underestimated fuel level indicator issue persists.
The fuel gauge does not work and results in the check engine light remaining on. It is difficult to know how much gas is in the tank (must track miles).but, more importantly, the 'check engine' light may be masking a real problem that i am not aware off.
Fuel gauge jumps from full to empty and check engine light flashes.dealership stated this was a commom problem for 1998 to 2000 isuzu's.gas tankl must be removed and sensor replaced.
The fuel guage does not always register the correct fuel level.it seldoms registers a full tank after filling.the quage will drop to the 1/4 tank or below level, the low fuel and service engine lites will come on.this may persist for several days or reset several times a day.
The fuel gauge did not work.the check engine light remained on.the consumer didn't know how much fuel was in the tank or if there were problems with the engine. *scc
The gas gauge read incorrectly.....
I purchased an isuzu rodeo, 2000 ls 3.2l v6.the gas gauge has been showing empty since i purchased it.the check engine light comes on as well.i went through hundreds of complaints on the internet with the same problem.isuzu should pay for it!
Gas gauge reads all over the place, empty when full, etc.
The "check engine" light and "fuel" light blinks almost continuously as a result of incorrect information being sent by the fuel sensor/sending unit. The lights will come on even when the tank is full! also, with less than 60,000 miles on an engine warranted to 125,000, i am burning oil at the rate of 1 quart every 2,000 miles. I have not taken it to a dealer since the reports i have read say that the delaerships simply say "that is normal."i have owned cars as long as 150,000 miles, and i certainly don't think this oil consumption is "normal"!!
2000 isuzu rodeo gas gauge constantly stays on empty even after filling up. Check engine light is also on constantly.*la
The fuel gauge is not working. I know 2 other people with a rodeo and they have the same problem, and i see on this website that there are many others with the same problem. The check engine light comes onwhen the gas tank is 3/4 full sometimes. I never know how much gas i have. Mechanc says the sensor is defective and ifeel isuzu should fix this. This isnot a normal matienance issue. It is a manufactures defect.
Fuel gauge inaccurate - light is on all the time - caused check engine light to come on and cant get vehicle inspected.was quoted $280 to fix by dealership. Local foreign auto parts store manager informed me that he sells these fuel sensors as quickly as they come in - doesnt know why isuzu doesnt issue a recall.
Gauge reads incorrectly. Faulty fuel sending unit. Dealership refused to fix even though as i understand it, isuzu covers the replacement under drivetrain warranty. Car was still under warranty when complaint made to dealership.
The electronic sending unit is causing the check engine light to remain on.the gas gauge has never been accurate but now it shows that it is empty when there are over 10 gallons in the tank.i have to remember to watch the mileage and always fill up.
Vehicle will stall out without prior notice. Dashboard light will come on/ transmission and cruise lights also on.
The hood latch comes loose. The service department has adjusted it 3 times and it does not fix the problem. My concern is that the latch is defective and will eventually cause the hood to fly into my windshield while in route.
When the vehicle was started it would not respond in any gear. The cause was unknown.*nlm.
My transmission is about to go out.i was told they had a 5 year/60,000 mile warrenty, so when i called the isuzu there was nothing they could do, since my warrenty exprired 45 days before.i only have 44,000 miles on it,and don't have the money to replace it. I really feel that isuzu should stand by the product and take responsibilty that there is an issue with the transmission failing.
Transmission's switch sent incorrect signal, causing transmission to fail.
Transmission problems render this vehicle completely unsafe.transmission seal leaking and needed to be replaced.the four wheel drive light continually flashes and does not stay on.the vehicle also has a shimmy at 50 mph.the engine key became stuck in the lock cylinder.
I bought this 2000 isuzu rodeo in 2002, and have had to install 2 automatic transmission..my mileage is just over 102000. Any help or recall for this problem.
Vehicle will stall out without prior notice. Dashboard light will come on/ transmission and cruise lights also on.
2000 isuzu rodeo---@ 62,131 miles transmission was slipping and smoke came out from under hood vehicle while traveling on the highway.vehicle was towed to dealer.told it was a problem with the internal transmission.transmission was replaced at no charge under the manufacturer 10 year/120,000 mile power trainmissionwarranty.again @ 92,204 miles the vehicle was jerking while shifting gears and transmission light came on.vehicle was taken to dealer.dealer determined the problem to be the inhibitor switch related to the external transmission.inhibitor switch was replaced, but not covered under the power train warrenty because it was part of the external transmission.again @ 98,489 miles the transmission was slipping while driving.after coming to a stop, the vehicle would not accelerate, unable to drive over 20mph.vehicle was taken to dealer.the problem was again determined to be the internal transmission.transmission was replaced for the 2nd time @ no charge under the manufacturer 10year/120,000 mile power train warranty.
When shifting gearstransmission slips to a lower gear. Consumer notified the dealership. The gear shift didn't go into gear on occasions. The only way to check the gear is by the speedometer. Dealer stated they didn't have the unit in stock and there were none in the u.s. *ph *nlm
At times when coming to a stop with foot on brake vehicle motor revs and lurches hard to keep stopped and you at times wind up in the middle of an intersection. I purchased the car from my sister because she was to scared to drive it. Vehicle was taken to isuzu dealer twice but still has the problem.
Dt: the vehicle was parked with the gear shifter in the park position and the key was not in the ignition. Consumer's son, who was 2 years old, was sitting in the back seat. Child was not restrained in a child safety seat. Consumer went inside the house for a minute and when he returned the car rolled and crashed at the end of consumer's neighbor's yard, striking a tree.there was a moderate incline in the driveway about 45 degree angle. There was substantial damage to vehicle. Upon inspection of the vehicle it was noted that the gear shift was in the third position.did refer to the owner's manual.called dealer , who referred consumertocustomer service of isuzui.they offered no assistance.at this time, no repairs were made.consumer had vehicle towed to a local mechanic shop.
When putting the vehicle in drive consumer noticed that the panel gave the wrong information, on what gear the vehicle was in. This caused the transmission to slip. Consumer contacted the dealership about this issue.
While brakes are fully depressed the vehicle moves forward.returned vehicle to dealer three times prior to warranty expiring.mechanic stated that they could not duplicate.now, and for the past twelve months, when the gear shift (between the seats) is in drive on the indicator panel (dash board) it indicated the vehicle is in neutral and sometimes reverse.
Vehicle jumped from park to reverse withtransmission in first gearand emergency brake engaged. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide further details.
Therewas a terrible slipping and clunking noise at differential which began at 16000 miles.dealer attempted to make repairs by adding heavy grease on five different occasions.dealer also advised consumer that itwas a "manufacturing defect and couldnot be fixed".please add additional information.
Vehicle accelerated while coasting causing vehicle to fish-tail and spin out.once vehicle corrected brakes/abs did not engage (no pulse in brake pedal no squealing tires)resulting in vehicle careening of the road.
The rodeo started acting sluggish on 6/21, but i thought it might just be due to bad gas.i filled-up with a better quality gas, & thought things would get better.it proceeded to get more & more sluggish.i didn't drive the car the next day at all, but the next day, however, i had to drive it.i drove it approximately 20 miles, & then i called my husband to follow me home afterwards.i was afraid to drive it.it wouldn't accelerate off the lights, & i was afraid the transmission was about to drop-out.i couldn't get it above 40 mph, & it kept stalling.instead of driving it home, i drove it to my work (which was closer) & left it in the parking lot overnight.the next morning, i had a tow truck pick it up to take it to the dealership.the dealership proceeded to tell me that my clutch needed to be replaced.herein lies the major problem.i just had the clutch replaced at 12,600 miles.the dealership is wanting $720 to replace the second clutch, because they're saying it is not under warranty after 12,000 miles.they said they replaced it the first time as a "goodwill" act, since it was just over the warranty.i have driven a standard for over 10 years, & i've never had a problem with a clutch before.you can not tell me that my driving habits have changed so drastically that all of a sudden i'm going through two clutches in two years!?i'm convinced there is a major safety issue with the clutch kits they are installing in the 2000 rodeo.i can not be convinced that it is considered "normal wear and tear" for them to wear-out after 12,000 miles.i am hashing this out with the dealer and with isuzu, but i'm not making much progress.no one there seems to care that this is not normal.in the meantime, i wanted to alert the public to the safety issues of driving with this kind of problem.thank you.
Our car broke down on thanksgiving and we found out the following monday that the entire transmission went out.fortunately we have an extended warranty that will help with our costs of replacing the transmission for a brand new one.however, the clutch was damaged and has to be replaced also and we are still waiting to receive the replacement transmission that has to be shipped from california.this vehicle is sitting just over 82,000 miles, (far too few miles to have such big problems).

The contact owned a 2000 isuzu rodeo. While driving 25 mph, the contact became distracted and crossed the yellow lane lines. In an attempt to avoid an oncoming vehicle, the contact jerked the vehicle to the side and caused the vehicle to rollover. The vehicle crashed into three trees and rolled off a cliff. In addition, the contact stated that the seat belt failed to retract and caused the contact to be thrown around inside the vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. A police report was filed. The contact sustained a fractured sternum, a concussion, and injuries to the right knee that required medical attention. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. Passenger's side seat belt keeps retracting, especially when going over a bump.it is impossible to drive this way.please provide any further information.
Dt:the contact stated when the vehicle was rear ended the backs of both front seats failed.both seats fell, causing injuries to both the driverand passenger.the seat belts were used at the time of the accident.the driver was thrown into the back seat which caused damage to the back seat.the passenger hit the sun roof and side window.the speed at which the vehicle was hit was unknown.the vehicle was totaled, and has not been inspected.a police reportwas taken at the scene.
After exiting a parking lot and when approaching the traffic signal (already red) at a speed less than 5mph (the signal was approx 5 car lengths from the parking lot exit), while further slowing (braking) to line up behind the last of the 2 cars already stopped at the signal, the rodeo unexpectedly accelerated which required the driver to aggressively and continuously apply the brakes. The rodeo slowed but could not be stopped within a distance of approx 2-3 car lengths and resulted in contact with the 2nd car which was stopped at the signal.after exchanging insurance info with the involved parties, the rodeo was driven directly to ckm auto service to diagnose the cause of the unexpected acceleration. Ckm did not find sources which may have created this problem ... Ckm also retained the rodeo and drove it a period of days to attempt to recreate the problem. Websiteresearch finds other similar unexpected acceleration events with the rodeo (some at much higher speeds) but none seem to have found the cause.this was the second incident of this same nature with the exception that the first incident was at a stop sign and no other vehicles, property or persons were damaged (just a heart-stopping moment when the rodeo could not be stopped with aggressive and continuous braking..rodeo was check out by ckm).rodeo is potentially dangerous and since a definitive cause could not be identified, this rodeo was traded in on 5-24-13 as we no longer had confidence in its safety.
On 3 separate occasions when brakes applied, the vehicle went through red light, at times feeling as if there were no brakes.also vehicle is going on anti-lock braking system (abs) mode when traveling on gravel, mud and at times on pavement when applying brakes at 20/30 mph.dealer adjusted the rear brakes and found the brake system to operate as designed and concluded that hitting a bump when braking can also cause the abs to activate.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. The contact was driving 5 mph and while applying the brakes, the vehicle would not respond. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was discovered that the rear shock brackets were rusted and fractured from the vehicle. When the failure occurred, the brackets struck the brake lines and caused a loss of brake fluid and braking power. The mechanic repaired the brake lines but the rusted shock bracket was not repairable. The contact attempted to call both the dealer and manufacturer but was unsuccessful. The failure mileage was 91,800.
I also own a 2002 rodeo and my abs has failed twice now.it has been repaired under warrenty, but it does seem to be a pattern in this model.
When applying the brakes at 3 mph, the pedal went to the floor before stopping. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop and the dealer stated there was nothing wrong with the brake system. Please provide any further information and complete the questionnaire.
Brakes did not grab right off it felt like someone put a stick in the spokes of a tire and then the brakes grab all of a sudden.this is the fourth time this has happened and the first time since the abs module, the master cylinder, and the brake fluid completely flushed.
While making a stop vehiclewould go into extended stopping distance.consumer states vehicle has experienced braking problems from the very beinning of when it was bought new, dealer insist there is nothing wrong with vehicle.
If vehicleis driven on a bumpy road brakes will fail.
2000 isuzu rodeo braking problems.the rodeo's abs is deployed randomly.brakes lock up and car will not stop in an appropriate amount of time.there is a metalic grinding sound.when brakes are inspected at dealership, there is no problem.there are no worn parts.
Road conditions slightly wet due to slight rain shower.no defect listed.
Vehicle accelerated while coasting causing vehicle to fish-tail and spin out.once vehicle corrected brakes/abs did not engage (no pulse in brake pedal no squealing tires)resulting in vehicle careening of the road.
My wife and i went on vacation and was exiting on the the freeway when the brake pedal went to the floor.after a second or two it popped back up and the brakes engaged with a loud metal grinding/hitting sound.in the process of stopping and almost hitting the car in front of us the rodeo hopped a little bit.later the brake light on the dash came on and i checked the brake fluid container and the fluid level was at the max line.but i did notice crud in the brake fluid which i have no idea how it would get in the fluid exect from the system.the cap to the brake fluid has not been taken off to my knowledge.this problem has happeded before and we took the rodeo to the dealer where we bought it from and the mechanic took the rodeo for a test drive and no problemoccured and nothing was checked with the brake system.the mechanic didn't check the brake lines, master cylinder, etc.
When applying brakes, pedal feels normal, yet braking distance is very extended. Took vehicle to dealer, who could notremedy situation.brakes were been unreliable from the beginning.
Abs will come on whenever the brakes are depressed when going over a large enough bump to have both rear tires off the ground.it is very unsettling as loss of brake power occurs until all the tires have settled on the road again.
Vehicle has had this problem since 10/00 .abs kicks in "at will" usually during stop & go traffic conditions and extends stopping distance greatly.has already caused front end damage.manufacturer has denied any problems with this vehicle line.
Whenever the brakes are applied and one travels over a bumpy road (i.e. Railroad tracks) the abs kicks in. One can feel the pulsation in the brake pedal then it feels like tthe pedal drops to the floor. As a result, the stopping distance has suddenly increased. I have had a case where i couldn't stop in time and ended up in the middle of the intersection. As a result, whenever this effect happens i compensate by immediately getting my foot off the brake pedal and quickly reapplying the brake pedal after passing over the bumps. I can reproduce this affect consistently at an intersection near my workplace since the road has some small bumps right before an intersection. This only occurs at speeds between ~10-20 mph. If one goes slow enough over the bumps the abs will not kick in. So whenever i come to a stop i am always wary of this situation. But i'm concerned when someone else borrows my vehicle.
I've been to the dealership three times and no one can figure out what is wrong with the vehicle.vehicle makes forcefull jerks when applying brakes and upon acceleration.
This incident has occurred twice. Once under dry conditions and once under wet conditions.the most recent incident is described here. While approaching a stop sign during a storm, i applied the brakes as i crossed a rough patch of pavement.at this time i felt the brake system skip or fail briefly until i was able to reapply pressure to the pedal.i have noted other rodeo owner complaints about abs problems on the net and have decided to contact you.i have not notified the dealer yet but plan to on my next service call.

While driving at highway speeds and applyingbrakesvehicle will drift toright. Consumer has contacted dealer five times already for the same problem, but the problem still occurs.
When driving and applying the brakes they did not stop at a safe distance.on two occasionsvehicle went through the intersection, almost causing an accident.this happened to the consumer once and to the consumer's daughter once. The manufacturer anddealer were notified.

While driving 55 mph abs braking light appeared on the dashboard and remained on until the vehicle was turned off. Consumer applied the brakes and pedal went to floor.consumer was able to maintain control of vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection.mechanicdetermined thatabs module needed to be replaced.
In stop and go traffic the brakes will sometimes fail without warning.they will make a grinding sound and at the same time the pedal goes to the floor.i have had several close calls and finally i rear ended someone causing damage to my vehicle only.isuzu has checked this out twice and can't find anything wrong.there are websites i've been in where people describe the same exact thing happening to them with the same make and model.it's obvious there's a problem but nothing is being done about it.what shall we do?
200 isuzu rodeo--braking problem--pedal goes to floor-extended braking time, brakes havecompletely failed one time.have had grinnding noise when applying brakes over small bumps, with loss of brakes.the car has been to 3 independent mechanics to have brakes checked and all say pads and rotors are fine, but braking is still very difficult.
Consumer statesthe brakes on the vehicle are not working properly, the stopping distance on the vehicle has increased and the consumer has alomst been in accidents due to this defect. Contacted dealer and the dealer has taken a look at the vehicle six times already and they cannot find the problem.
While traveling, the brakes failed and the consumer rear ended the vehicle stopped in the front causing minor damage. The dealer could not duplicate the brake failure.
While applying brakes under wet conditions, vehicle would not stop, and consumer went into intersection.consumer feels this is very unsafe. Please provide any further information.
While traveling on bumpy road and braking, the brake pedal has went to the floor with a horrible noise, the consumer states that the problem is not the abs, the brakes totally fail when the pedal goes to the floor.
The front end of the vehicle wobbled while driving at 65 mph. The vehicle had three new sets of brake rotors, however it did not solve the problem, rear end wobbling continued.
Since the purchase ofmy vehicle in 2000, there has been a continuous vibration in the front end as if either the tires are out of balance or the front needs aligning. I have continuously reported this to several dealers and as of this time none have been able to correct this problem..i, after being advised to, and at my own expense replaced all four tires to no avail.
The steering wheel locked up, when a turn was made.
Front end shakes violently at all times, vehicle is hard to operate. Vehicle has been in over 5 times for same problem.isuzu representative had steering column tightened which did not remedy problem.the steering freezes up at times after hitting a bump.nlmconsumer states at speeds of 45 mph the back wheels vibrate up and down, they do not stay in contact with the road, the front wheels also tend to squirm left to right at these speeds, the problem tends to get worse the longer the vehicle is driven.
When the vehicle was started and put into gear the vehicle would not move.*nlm.

Was driving w/my handicapped daughter when the car swayed front one way back the other heard a terrible scraping noise thought i had a flat tire ,looked tires were fine looked under the car and the frame right near the gas tank broke and is completely rusted i looked and there are at least 20 complaints and isuzu does nothing about it , i think this is outrages as there could have been a fire an my daughter could have beburnt before i could get her out i don'tknow why the company is not held responsible and recalls are not demanded.i think that you have an obligation to do something about this condition, isuzu knows about it as they have a 12 month warranty on corrosion knowing that it won't happen that soon. I also would like to know if you intend to do something about this before there is some horrible accident. I now have no transportation for my child and will not have money for a new car or a used one and i live in the country w/no transportation and have to depend on other people for dr's appt. And shopping, trips to the drug store . I find all this very unfair to everyone that owns an isuzu!!!!!!
While driving aprox 40 mph lost control of vehicle, got to the side of road and proceeded aprox 1-2 miles to local mechanic driving 5mph on the side of the road.mechanic looked at vehicle and stated the entire rear of vehicle was rusted so bad that it was actually completely broke through on one side and the other side was about to brake through as well.he stated it could not be repair and said if i had been driving 65 miles an hour i could have been killed.
2000 isuzu rodeo frame is rotting to bits.support that holds axel into frame totally rotted off as i was pulling out of a parking lot.if it cut loose on the highway i would have lost all control of the car.regular garage is unable to fix it safely so its at a welding facility to be looked at but they made no promises to whether it can be fixed.
Severe rust found under vehicle, specifically rear end. Shock mounts broke off frame while normal driving. Rewelding only offers temporary relief. Dangerous condition. Rust destroying all metal parts of undercarriage.
The undercarriage of my 2000 isuzu rodeo failed due to rust after the frame was welded some 18 months prior for the same problem.the frame failedagain and the body of the car was shifting forward and back.i was advised not to drive the vehicle as it is unsafe.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that while having routine maintenance performed on the vehicle, the technician advised that the under-carriage was completely corroded. The vehicle was taken to a second mechanic who advised the contact that the failure was so severe, that it was not worth installing reinforcement brackets because the vehicle was not drivable. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vin was not available. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 124,000.
The vehicle i have purchased new, originally as a lease and purchased it at the end of the lease.the body and interior are in great shape as we cared for the vehicle. The frame is another story, it has holes rotted in it the size of golf balls. Dealer stating the transmission could fall out and create a accident regardless of all the rot on the area's the suspension connects to the frame which could dis-connect at any time. I used this vehicle as a family vehicle and then was insulted by the manufacturer as to the value of the vehicle. Manufacturer stated unsafe to continue using and offers a low book value which is only half of what the vehicle is worth to our family.the problem with the vehicle was the manufactures using inferior materials they should be made to replace the frame at their expense, even if it means having it made special. We purchase this vehicle maintained it and kept it in great condition to lose our investment to sub-standard materials.someone needs to stand up for us.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. While the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for routine service, the technician diagnosed that the subframe was corroded and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was included in a voluntary manufacturer's recall; however, the manufacturer stated that it had expired. The failure mileage was 213,000.
Left side rear frame where it connects to the tire rusted through. Bottom piece has detached from one side. I just read their was a recall in 2010 but i never received anything. I bought my car in 2007. This is a serious situation, luckily i noticed it when i did, fortunately i wasn't driving. What do i do now? -thank you.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. While the vehicle was being serviced for routine maintenance, the contact was informed by the mechanic that the vehicle had excessive corrosion to the subframe. The contact was informed that the vehicle was unsafe and could not be repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
I was driving my husband to dialysis and the car felt different, thought maybe i had a flat tire or something,i didn't have a flat tire so it was windy and thought maybe wind was pushing me.it just felt funny and i was alarmed.the next day i was turning a corner at low rate of speed (thank god) and i heard a loud noise and scratching.i parked the vehicle and called a mechanic and took it there.the mechanic just told me today that he can't be driven it is a total loss the under carriage and suspension is completely rusted.i never recieved a recall notice and made aware, we could have been killed in an accident or hurt someone else.i am asking for relief and would like to know how to proceed.it not easy to just purchase another vehicle when you have a isuzu rodeo paid off.please contact us.
Frame on my car is completely rotted and separated apart. It is unsafe to drive.previous problem with axel attachment to frame was fixed and secured per recent recall from isuzu.i bought this car new and i have since then. Otherwise mechanically car is ok.
I bought my 2000 rodeo new and it currently has 37000 actual miles. I recently saw rust in the driveway. I took this car to a honda body shop to see the underbody. Before putting it on the lift they saw that the frame was excessively rusted.once in the air they looked at the whole underside and said that the frame and the lower control arm were holed with rust.i asked if any of this was repairable.they said they would not do the work because they would not assume the liability of a serious accident.this vehicle had the fixes prescribed by campaign 10v-436 sb 10-11-s002a completed at sellers truck center in farmington hills, mi on september 9, 2011. This addressed the rear suspension but obviously the corrosion was so pervasive that this campaign was just a band-aid. As i read the various complaints on this site i strongly agree that these cars are a safety hazard and should be bought back by isuzu and taken off the road.like many others i have sidelined mine and been forced to buy another car to replace it way before it was necessary. Ironically, this car is in almost pristine condition from the body up.i have contacted isuzu and received a letter in return in which they assert that they did everything they had to and that the original recall did not require more than dealing with the rear suspension and therefore i was out of luck. In the letter they said i could call for more information. I did and they offered to 'redo the procedures of the original recall.'when i pointed out that i have a car that is unsafe to drive and that the facility they wanted it taken to is an hour and a half away their comment was 'no one said you had to drive it. You could trailer it.'this isn't a good alternative either especially since i have a honda dealer less than two miles from my house and the honda passport suffered all the same
I think the time has come for the nhtsa to seriously consider getting the remaining isuzu rodeo's off the road - they are not safe.i like a majority of other isuzu owners suffer from excessive corrosion all over the frame - i had the recall repair done and this was supposed to be treated but it has progressively gotten worse and now i am at the point where i have a reliable everyday car that starts up right away, runs well and cuts through the snow (4x4) but due to manufacturing errors now has a flaky, brittle hole ridden wheel well frame on both sides that will cause an accident after the wheel goes flipping off the car and causing it to flip over.isuzu has turned a blind eye and won't take any calls (once you find them).a recall must be issued and make the manufacturer take responsibility for whatever shady processes they used on the assembly line.i am very upset that i need to go out and purchase a new car and that i have no value in this car due to the fact that i cannot sell an unsafe car.make the manufacturer buy back these vehicles or recall them!too many complaints - and you cannot ignore the same repeated trend - everyone in the northeast has experienced this horrible pain!
Hello, my 2000 isuzu rodeo was getting repaired this weekend and the mechanic told me the frame of the car was severely rusted and damaged.he said there was a recall last year on the make and model of my car.i did not receive a recall notice and therefore missed the deadline to submit my car for repair on the recall.after searching online it appears there are many isuzu that 1. Do not know about this recall or 2. Missed the deadline like i did.if these cars and this damage is as severe as it sounds like there should not be a deadline on this recall.all cars should be taken off the road.i called isuzu and they said there is nothing they can do for me.i have lived in north carolina for the last year but for the first 11 years i had this car it was in chicago, il.

Hello,i bought my isuzu rodeo suv in feb. Of 2000. I paid $27,000 with a trade in. I noticed the first year the car started to shake going on 50-55 miles an hour, so took it back to the where i bought it, they fixed it but it was still happening. So, years went by a few other problems occurred spent money on the car to have it fixed but one thing i noticed that the bottom and body of the car started to rot, not happy about this. Having problems with starting the car, it stalls, while i am driving on the highway it decides to stall, my daughter in the back seat. We could of gotten killed because of this car, so unsafe. The car only has 75,000 miles on it only 12 yrs old, i have maintained the car in good condition, just don't understand, it looks horrible. So, driving a few weeks ago, i heard this loud snap and also to mention my 17 month old daughter was sitting in her car seat in the back. I couldn't understand what it was, so than i noticed that the car was not driving the way it was, my husband looked down and he said that right sway bar is broken. So, took it to a mechanic and he said you will need to spend money on repairing it and other parts that are rotting. So, this really makes you think how safe my daughter is in the car. I have not driven this car at all ever since, i am so scared. So, financial i don't have the money to repair all of the parts on this car,i have to go out and find a car that is dependable and the safety of my family especially my child. Seriously people that are inventing these car's should think a little bit more wiser on how to make a car.thank you!!

I purchased the 2000 isuzu rodeo in what looked like perfect condition. I had it checked out by mechanically inclined friends. It had an active massachusetts inspection sticker. But it failed inspection in rhode island, where the mechanic said the frame looked like it had been previously patched numerous times. I was pulled over a week later because the registration had been suspended as a result of a failed inspection. The second mechanic also refused to pass its inspection, since it is unsafe and cannot be repaired. He said the frame rust and rot are extensive, and in dangerous locations, which could cause the car to flip if it were in motion when the frame snapped. It should not be repaired.
I was driving down a local road (approximate speed 40mph).after hitting an average bump in the road the vehicle went out of control.it thrashed side to side several times before crashing into a ditch and landing onto its side.i had no explanation for the cause of the crash.however, when the tow truck arrived he showed us a large rusted out part that was hanging down in front of the drivers side rear wheel (i took pictures as well as the police).

I have a 2000 isuzu rodeo, i was online looking for a part to replace when i stumbled upon the newest recall of the rear mounting brackets rusting off of the frame. I immediately brought my car to the closest isuzu service center without the recall letter that i am supposed to get from isuzu, yet still haven't. The dealer brought my car in and within a 30min it was back out in the parking lot. The desk manager said i need a stage 4 repair for the brackets but then told me they would call when they had the availability; they said it would at least two months before they could fit me in! i asked if it was safe to drive and the guy simply said it should be alright, what kind of response is that. I took it to my mechanic who then put it up on the lift and the whole vehicle frame is rusted! there is no way new brackets are going to make anything better. Pieces of frame are just falling off my truck. This is a huge safety issue and needs to be fixed, just replacing the mounting brackets is absolutely pointless and doesn't address the real issue being the whole frame's defectiveness.

This will reinforce the frame.the 1/4" steel is thicker than the original frame tubbing.

The events leading up to the failure are simple.leaving our driveway and within two tenths of a mile there was a rear suspension lower link failure on our isuzu rodeo just as described in nhtsa action pe09030.here are the actions / moments leading up to the failure.we simply gathered in our rodeo.pulled from our driveway on to a rural country road.single lane and traveling a speed of approximately 10mph (luckily).it is on this road and with in two tenths of a mile from leaving our home the failure occurred.there was no warning whatsoever.when the failure occurred there was a loss of control, the rear end of the vehicle began swerving from left to right in a track about 3 feet from the original line of travel.because we were not yet on a major highway, stopping the vehicle was no problem and there was no crash, however, we can't bare the thoughts of what it could have been if we had been traveling at highway speeds.again, luckily we were very close to home.towing the vehicle was not necessary as we were able to slowly back the vehicle in reverse to our home at nothing more than an idling speed.the nature of the failure is the left rear suspension bar breaking from the frame of the vehicle.there has been no repair attempted as the frame is in no condition to remount the suspension bar.after this incident we have looked more at the condition of frame on this vehicle.there are other places on the frame were there is total rust through.because of the incident and because of what we are now seeing we deem the frame unsafe.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. The entire frame was covered with rust underneath the vehicle. The vehicle was taken in for routine maintenance. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and stated that they could not give him any information since it was being investigated by nhtsa. The failure and current mileage was 88,000.
The frame on my 2000 isuzu rodeo has major structural rust problems. I am worried something is going to give way and cause a major crash if i drive it any further. Please work on this as soon as possible before someone dies.
Corrosion in frame of 2000 isuzu rodeo ls.the vehicle was checked out with a mechanic after hearing of faulty frames on channel 4 action news in pittsburgh, pennsylvania.mechanic says within 6 months, frame will probably come apart.
My 2000 isuzu rodeo went in to have some work done on it, simple maintenance. The certified mechanic took a look under the car and immediately informed me that he refused to put my car up on his lift to do work on it because of the immense amount of rust on the frame of the car. He was afraid that if he lifted my car it would fall apart while on the lift and destroy half of his shop. He then also informed me that the car was completely unfit to be driven on the road. After hearing this i went online and found that this seems to be a pretty common problem for isuzu rodeo and honda passports built between 1997-2001.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. While driving various speeds, the contact heard an unusual noise and noticed that the front body frame was fractured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 151,000.
I have a 2000 rodeo isuzu and the frame is rusting out. After watching the news i see most of these have this problem.
Live in massachusetts - have brackets from previous recall attached.underneath vehicle is rapidly rotting - noticed rot beneath mounting brackets, and along frame behind tires around wheel wells. Rust everywhere and fear that the car is not safe to operate, vehicle is only 13 years old and rapid frame rust should not be occurring.other problems - gas gauge not operating causing check engine light to come on whenever a turn is made.cannot remove gas tank to fix issue as rust is too extensive.
I purchased this vehicle on 08/06/2014...i was driving it home and it felt weird.the very next day i had our mechanics put it on the rack to take a look at the underside...i thought it was the transmission.i was in total disbelief at how rusted out and corroded the frame was. It is so bad it has actual holes in the frame from front to back.this car is unsafe and cannot be driven in its current condition.i would like isuzu to purchase it back from me.
I was told there was recalls that could cause serious injury, when i called isuzu they told me there was nothing they could do about it, i trusted their name, thinking it was a safe and reliable vehicle for myself and my children, please help me as the under carriage of vehicle is completely rotted!!! [xxx]. I don't know where to turn for help, but this is a major safety issue and isuzu will not help me. I cant afford another vehicle at this time, but i do need to transport my children.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Chassis its rusty all under the vehicle.
I purchased a 2000 isuzu rodeo from a dealership on december 4, 2014. I got it home only to realize the entire frame is rusted almost completely through. It's worse in the rear end of the vehicle. The frame under the hatchback area is almost completely gone. The dealership won't take it back and i can't afford another vehicle. I have not been able to contact anyone at isuzu. The suv is in excellent condition otherwise.
Spare tire dropped, rear frame broke off ,bumper brackets broke off.
I originally brought my vehicle into the dealership during the recall for inspection and recommendation of repair as i live in one of the states that was mentioned in the recall.at the time, my drivers rear bracket had detached and the recall was a flurry of angry vehicle owners.to be candid, although i suffer many problems of various sorts with the vehicle, it has always been a dependable one, especially being 4 wheel drive.i did get a remedy for the vehicle - they mounted these hulking brackets on both sides of the vehicle and applied some "special" coating - i was thankful that i didn't have to have my vehicle taken from me like so many others. I did have to bring it back to the dealership afterwards as they didn't install the gas filler neck the correct way and gas was leaking out everywhere each time i filled.i swear they caused a lot of other problems during the fixing of the vehicle - but cannot prove as such.i don't care for the fact that because they removed my exhaust my warranty for my exhaust system was voided - an extra cost i am still saving for repairing. But the real reason i write to complain is that the frame is rusting rapidly right underneath those new hulking brackets they installed - not sure where the "special" coating was done - but a flaking, hole ridden frame is now apparent and i'm not sure what remedy, if any can be taken.i certainly fall outside the terms set forth in the recall notice, yet, did in good faith bring it in for a repair that was performed - but, yet the frame continues to rust and quickly - should that be my responsibility?doesn't the consumer have a certain degree of trust by the manufacturer that the vehicle they bought "could" in fact last many many years if taken care of properly.i have done that - isuzu has not met the ordinary expectations that a vehicle owner has.i want a solution to my problem.
Lost control of vehicle with no warning on the freeway during rush hour .. General motors / isuzu / honda recall said it is the bracket detaching from the frame . It is not . The bracket pulled a piece of frame from my vehicle . The frames of these vehicles are the problem " not " the bracket . The bracket is in excellent condition as well as the weld to the piece of frame which was " tore " from the rest of the frame . These frames are collapsing , rusting out far before their time . Nhtsa & transport canada both need to open an " new investigation " into the frames of these vehicles & what's in them , production & testing of the frames . General motors also did not offer me a fair price for my vehicle and treated me in a terrible manner . It is still not resolved after 1 year & 4 months , nothing has been resolved !!! nhtsa & transport canada need to investigate these frames !

When vehicle reaches 65-70 mph vehicle bounces all over the road, and is very hard to control. Dealer blames tires for this, consumer has replaced tires 3 times plus 2 extra tires. Isuzu says it is a suv, and will ride rough. Vehicle taken to dealer 5 times for this problem.

Isuzu is not honoring it's recalls. I bought a used isuzu rodeo when i called isuzu in order to do the recalls they said my car had no recalls on filed based on my vin#. Since that call my rear bracket suspension has corroded and detached from the vehicle frame which could of killed me. According to the recall it says "a vehicle older than 10 years will be repaired for free only if it is brought to an isuzu or honda dealer within 12 months of notification". Well i've never been notified of anything and isuzu is refusing to do repairs. Even when i took the car to the isuzu repair center they would not touch it or offer me any remedy? i incurred towing expenses, time off from work taking the car to the authorized repair center. Help a consumer out please. Let's do the right thing here. Isuzu should honor all it's recalls on my car.

While traveling at approx. 15 miles an hour, i lost control of the rear of the vehicle.. It was traveling sideways. Upon inspection, i found that the rear suspension lower link bracket had tore from the frame. I did not receive a recall letter re: this matter. I had it towed to a dealership for examination. I will be contacting isuzu on the next business day that they are open as this occurred over the weekend. It does not appear that this will be repairable due to the amount of rust and the fact that there is no frame left where the bracket tore from.
The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that while performing regular service, the mechanic test drove the vehicle and noticed that the rear end was shaking. The vehicle was inspected and the mechanic determined that the rear frame and stabilizer bar were corroded. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. As i was driving to work on 2/20/14 the lower rear end of my car started to make a loud clicking sound and as i started to slow downthe rear end of my car underneath made a loud sound causing it to swerve quickly.it scared me because it felt like the back of the car was falling ontop of the tiers (if that makes any sense) but that's how it felt due to the loud sound. So now i find out that this same problem is due to the poor work of isuzu rodeo,it seams that all 2000 isuzu rodeo's are under a recall, and i was never notified of this problem i'm a caregiver and now im unable to get to my patients because i don't have any transportation to and from work,i'm hopingand praying that someone in your jurisdiction can help me find a solution to this urgent mater, please some one needs to do something about this before someone drives one of these car's on the high way and people get hurt.if someone saw how corroded the rear suspension of my car is you wouldn't believe isuzu is selling cars like this,,i hope you can help me,please,please......!!!!!!!!!!!!
Submission from constituent re 2000 isuzu rodeo concerns ( photos enclosed).the consumer was recently informed, the vehicle had severe rusting and corrosion on the frame and it was unsafe to drive.the consumer referenced recall # 10v436000.
The tires lose contact with the road when braking under rough road conditions, which makes stopping virtually impossible.the suspension components are inadequate, they fail to keep the tires on the road while encountering bumps during braking.this has been a problem since new, but recent experience has made it clear to me just how dangerous the problem actually is.i would like the problem to be addressed by isuzu - recall the suspension components and replace with something that handles bumps better.
You could trailer it.'this isn't a good alternative either especially since i have a honda dealer less than two miles from my house and the honda passport suffered all the same
Vehicle is very unstable due to insufficent dampening of the supension, dealer says this there is no problem.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was discovered that the rear shock brackets were rusted and fractured from the vehicle. The mechanic repaired the brake lines but the rusted shock bracket was not repairable. The contact attempted to call both the dealer and manufacturer but was unsuccessful. The failure mileage was 91,800.

Excessive corrosion may result in the left or right rear suspension lower link bracket becoming detached from the frame, which can affect vehicle handling and potentially cause a crash
The suspension on my isuzu rodeo 2000 broke because of the corrosive frame underneath and it seems as if the metal used for the frame and suspension is part of a recall from what i'm seeing all over the internet so i ended up calling the deal ship and they want to do nothing for me and they tell me there are no active recalls at this time which makes absolutely no sense to me because the issue that i'm seeing with the recall just happen to me.

When vehicle was coming to a stop, and just before accelerating, it jumped.dealer has attempted to repairvehicle several times ; however, the problem has not been corrected.
When driving at any speed and when applying brake pedal to make a gradual stop, and when approaching an intersection or a traffic light, brake pedal traveled tofloorboard, causing extended stopping distance/ brake fade away. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where the contact was informed that there were holes in the fuel line. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.
The front end of the vehicle wobbled while driving at 65 mph. The vehicle had three new sets of brake rotors, however it did not solve the problem, rear end wobbling continued.
Ongoing problem with severe vbiration from front of vehicle while traveling at 52 or more mph.vehicle been in / out of dealer shop on five occasions, various parts were changed and repairs were made, but problem still keeps reoccurring.
We are constantly adding oil to the vehiclewithin a months time no oil will measure on the dipstick and there are no signs of leakage. When the truck reaches over 50mph the vehicle vibrates and pulls to the right everytime

This is my only vehicle, i live 1 and a half hours away from an isuzu dealership (was told i could only go to an isuzu dealership to get this fixed) was also told this is an all day repair and no loaner car would be given.

The contact stated that the dealer wanted him to sign a release stating that he was aware of the upper link failure. The vehicle was in the dealers possession. The failure mileage was 138,000.
2000 isuzu rodeo was not in an accident, but the rear suspension components are so rotted that it appears the vehicle is teetering in the brink of a catastrophic failure. Its my understanding that there is an open investigation by nhtsa and consumer complaint blogs are rife with complaints about this condition. My vehicle is an easy vehicle to sell, not able to be fixed, and undrivable because of this defect, and isuzu (or honda) should be held accountable for those of us who have 4000 lb unsafe paper weights in our driveways.

Goodyear wrangler tires (p245/70r16) squeak while making turns at 10mph or more, goodyear suggested that increasing the tire pressure would help, however the squeak is still present and it happens all the time.
On 11/24/00, my wife and i were s/b on i-15 from las vegas to california at approx. 70mph. The vehicle was approx. 31 days old and purchased new.at the time of the accident there was approx. 800 miles on the odometer. We heard a "pop" sound come from the underneath the car and towards the passenger rear.suddenly the car went out of control and we rolled 3/4 times and down two ditches.witnesses reported seeing the treads of the tire separate. Treads were unbroken and still a complete circle.there was no obvious signs of cuts or punctures on the inside of the tread except on one side it looked like someone had cut treads off with a razor blade that was how clean the seperation was. California highway patrol officer booked the alloy wheel with sidewalls along treads into evidence.the officer said that he was going to chp's experts examine the tire for the cause. This should not have happened on a new tire.(dot number: unknowntiresize: 16 inch)

Consumer fraud - purchased a car under the pretense that the car was accident free.later found out that the car has a salvaged title.
We've had multiple tire problems and paint problems, first with the rims and then with body paint door checks have been fixed twice and auto trans pickup sensor failure. Tires and rims were finally relpaced after 40,000 miles of problems.dt

Took to dealer and they changed accelerator sensor.09/10/02, took vehicle to dealer because cd player broke, wheels peeling, door popping when opened, vehicle cuts off and stalls while driving. Dealer replaced cd player, wheels, bushing in door, and replaced mass air flow sensor. 10/10/02, speedodometer not reading properly, vehicle still cuts off and stalls while driving. Dealer found code p0102 air flow meter malfunction, and replaced it. But could not indicate reason speedodometer was not reading.01/13/04, car still stalling and cutting off, dealer replaced plugs and injectors. Problem still occurring. Taking back to dearler today on 01/21/04
At times when coming to a stop with foot on brake vehicle motor revs and lurches hard to keep stopped and you at times wind up in the middle of an intersection. I purchased the car from my sister because she was to scared to drive it. Vehicle was taken to isuzu dealer twice but still has the problem.
Vehicle accelerated while coasting causing vehicle to fish-tail and spin out.once vehicle corrected brakes/abs did not engage (no pulse in brake pedal no squealing tires)resulting in vehicle careening of the road.

T he "reduced power" light comes on and acceleration is reduced down to 10-15 mph. This is extremely hazardous ,since i never know when this will happen. I have many close call accidents from this, i have taken it to a service station and they can not diagnose the problem .please advise! i'm desperate. I'm 62years old and disabled and need a vehicle that's dependable to carry my grandchildren in, and go to my may dr. Appointments. The contact owns a 2000 isuzu rodeo. The contact was driving approximately 40 mph when the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The contact was able to apply pressure to the brake pedal in order to get the vehicle to stop. The vehicle was waiting on the results of the diagnostic testing being done by the dealer. The approximate failure mileage was 90,000.
Road conditions slightly wet due to slight rain shower.no defect listed.
