Dt:the contact s owns a 1999 isuzu rodeo. He received a recallon10-14-05 regarding the brakes on the vehicle. The contact has not taken the car ito dealerto have the recall repair work done. The contact's vehicle was involved in an accident one year ago. A child ran o in front of vehicle, he swerved to miss the child, hit thebrak theydid not work, and the vehiclehit a telephone pole. A police reportwas taken. He felt that the accident caused other damage to the car, such as transmissionslipping. He noticedthetransmission slipping about five months ago. Had to do a lot of repair work to the front end of the vehicle about five months ago air bags deployed ,and hehas not had them installed again.

Fuel gauge is intermittent after filling gas tank with fuel. Fuel gauge is completely inoperative after 5-10 miles of driving after filling fuel tank. This is also causing a check engine light to come on. There are several complaints for this and it is a safety concern if your wife is driving the vehicle at night on the interstate daily without knowing the amount of gas she has. Dealership here will not sell the sending unit by itself, only the complete fuel pump at a cost of over $300.00. Something needs to be done about this.

Vehicle collision resulted in rollover due to design of vehicle, no deployment of the driver's side air bag during collision resulting in facial injuries.*mjs

When the brakes were applied, the rear of the vehicle slid, as a result, the consumer rear ended another vehicle andnone of the airbags deployed.

On february 2000 driver depressed the brake pedal at 20 mph and vehicle took longer to respond to the pedal application. The road surface was wet from rainingthat day. As result, the vehicle was involved in a head on collision, on january 2001, while driving 50 mph.consumer applied the brakes and theydid not respond, causing vehicle to collide with the guard rail. On november 5, 2003, again, on wet condition, while pulling out of the garageonto main road, the brakes took longer to respond. As result, the vehicle crashedinto a neighbor's vehicle. On those three occasions, the front air bags failed to deploy.

While driving at 60 mph, hit a deer, and neither of the air bags deployed. Driver worethe seat belt.

Consumer was going at about 55 and anothervehicle hit consumer's vehicle at about 85 mph . Consumer's vehicle, in turn,hit a utility vehicle,and went into a gaurdrail. Upon impact,airbags didn't deploy.consumer's vehicle was totalled.

New car, 7days old.driving up to a stop light.the vehicle slowed, but would not stop.crashed into car in front of me at 5 to 10 mph.when i was slowing down, i had time to look down to see if my foot was on the pedal (which it was), then with both feet tried to get the vehicle to stop with no luck. Crash!neither airbag was deployed, and no one was hurt.

There was a few incidents. One day my two sisters where riding down the highway and out of no where my trunk window completely busted out. My sisters were terrified and luckily a cop pulled up. He told them that it look like someone had put tint over the heating wires that they use to defrost. Being that i had bought it from a dealership they led me to believe that my tint was manufactured. I feel that i was ripped off from the company because they over charged me as well. When i bought my 99' isuzu rodeo it was for 21,995 when they finish my paper work i thought nothing about what they added on to my bill. Years had went by and i decided to trade my vehicle in for a new model. Some friendly salesmen from a isuzu dealership found out that i had been ripped off by the previous place that i purchased my vehicle from. I found out that theyhad charged me in all $34,00. On my receipt it said that i suppose to had,insurance and a whole lot of other things that i didn't even know about. I just felt so bad because i felt like they had took advantage of me because i was a woman. Other things that i had to go through with my vehicle was paying constantly for it to get fixed.my axles and a whole lot of stuff. I received a recall in the mail saying recalling all 99' isuzu rodeo's and i also heard it on the news. But as much as i tried to get in touch with someone i never was able too. I really like how rodeos ride, how they look, i just like it all together. But what i had to go through these past 5 years have been terrifying.

The contact owns a 1999 isuzu rodeo.while idling at a stop sign, smoke began emanating from the vehicle.the contact noticed that the entire electrical system was melted.the dealer stated that there was a recall on the electrical system for the 1998 model; however, the contact would have to pay $4,200 for the repair since his vehicle was excluded.the vehicle has not been repaired and the manufacturer would not assist.the failure and current mileages were 150,000.

1999 isuzu transmission control harness may be burned through by the exhaust system and cause electrical and transmission shifting problems, thereby causing smoke to be emitted from underneath the carriage system.dealer expects owner to pay for "defective" transmission range switch, which may be caused by unshielded transmission control harness.

I have a 1999 isuzu rodeo i keep up with all work that needs to be done due to only having one car besides all the basictruck is thirsty for oil check once a week i noticed the cd player would not shut off cd got stuck i did not think much about it i will replace the radio the following week then my wife went to work on 1/23/09 it was 8:30 am my wife called me up in tears yelling the truck is on fire good thing it was less then a 1/4 mile from my house i ran down and i could smell the smoke of burning wires by the time i got there the fire went out im glad no one got hurt i had towed to the repair shop to find out what happened i was told on the 26th that there was a recall for the same thing on the 1998 model when i called isuzu they told me i was out of luck that my truck was a 99 not a 98 but i found out from my insurance company my truck was made in 98 and was classified as a 99 i called isuzu again and the same thing to bad the truck is a 99 its not like its a new car my insurance company wants an estimate for the repairs and the repair shop can not find a new wiring harness no one will return my calls or the repair shops call so we can get prices for the harness and the computer and that's just a start i have had a rental for 2 weeks now and looks like 2 more weeks i don't know who i should call my insurance company is not budging and isuzu is not budging and im stuck with a huge rental bill i been searching the web and find so many people with problems like mine and isuzu does nothing to solve there cheap ways of building trucks now i see why they do not sell cars in the usa anymore there are 3 service stations in ma. And not one is even close to where i live and i had one tell me its 10 years old now time for a new one anyway with all the problems that people have with these things why didn't anyone force them to have major recalls and the ones they do have they say to bad.

Fuel sending unit/gas gauge light flashing empty when car is full of gas. Abs light never goes out ...had recall repaired dash lights..car is in park but light on dash is in (n)..light on gear shift is deadrear winshield wiper just stopped workingrubber seal around rear hatchback window dry rotted causing window to shatter and break while car was sitting in driveway. This is dangerous. Car sliding through stop lightwhen applying brakes to stop or when sitting still car will idle and cause car to move while foot is on brakes. Humming/rattling sound coming from undercarriage of these complaints are posted on several complaint websites and they all pertain to my 1999 rodeo as well as thousands of others.my rodeo was purchased in 2003 and i was not aware of any recalls except for the abs one and i learned about that from a relative who has the same vehicle.if something breaks down or stops working on hers i can expect it to occur with mine or visa versa.something needs to be done..i will never recommend anyone to purchase an isizu rodeo if my life depended on it.everytime i take it to a mechanic there is a rodeo in the garage waiting to be worked on.the mechanic shakes his head..

1999 isuzu rodeo 6 disc cd changer non-functional. There are currently 6 new cd's stuck in the unit. Isuzu refuses to fix this problem even though the warranty just expired 3 weeks ago. Isuzu wants $300 to send the changer off to have cd's removed. According to dealership, this happens twice a month.

I have a 1999 isuzu rodeo 2.2l 4 cylinder model truck, and the fuel sending unit, 02 sensors and coolant temperature sensor have all gone bad. I have had to replace other sensors as well. Spent hundreds of dollars trying to fix this truck. Please let isuzu know that they need to be responsible for their actions, and fix these lemon vehicles. I am a college student and need this vehicle to get from school and back, and i'm not sure how many more fixes i will be able to afford. There are plenty more consumers on forums across the internet complaining of these vehicles, and are generally the same exact problems. Why hasn't anything been done?

The check engine light remains on at all times and the gas gauge will not work accurately.

Abs brakes light came on and stayed on. Also, had to unplug fuse due to the fact it was drainnig the battery. Brakes were inoperative.

The abs air pump continues to run even with the key off. The battery cavle must be removed for it to stop. The parts person at the dealer said this was a major problem in 1998. He thought it was a recall problem but the service dept. Said it was not.

My "new" truck has a problem with idling very high (2000rpm in drive/2400-2700 in neutral) to where it is difficult to stop the vehicle.this has happened twice in the first 16mos. Of ownership.took truck to o.c. Jeep/isuzu in mar., 2000 - they "reprogrammed pcm" (the computer).10/26/00 took truck to mckenna isuzu in hunt. Bch, ca for same problem - they "cleaned terminals & replaced" fried "cable to battery".11/16/00 returned to mckenna w/same problem (high-idle) - they "reprogrammed pcm computer".the idling problem causes the car to lurch when brake is not held firmly, car does 35mph(+) w/out gas pedal engaged, causes down-shifting of auto-transm. To be very rough.feels very dangerous to drive when acting up.

When there is ice or snow covered on the road, vehicle does not stop properly. To start with, i have had continous problems with the brakes, which squeal loudly when coming to a stop, they moan & creek on the inside then forcefully pushes my foot off the pedal--the headlights have been a real problem. I've had to replace these headlights 4 times now, 2 of which were done myself.i cannot go the speed limit on the freeways, barely even up to it, as the vehicle shakes & vibrates so violently, it feels like its being pulled apart in every direction, taking me with it. I can only get to about 46 mph before the shaking & vibrations start in. The steering wheel i have to grip tightly with both hands just to stay on the road, it shakes so much. The vehicle pulls to the right if i have to take my hands off the wheel even for a second. The driver side window & door panel rattles when the window is rolled down at any length, i can physically move the window. There is a continued buzzing on the driver's side speaker when the radio is on, even turning off the bass doesn't help. It's not on the passenger side.i don't feel safe driving this vehicle.the dealer charged me $1300 for an extended 'warranty' at a $100 deductible, but has refused to service the vehicle.i have never received the smog certificate, but was charged for the smog.the dealer who sold this piece of junk to me has completely wiped his hands of it as soon as it was dropped off on his lot.said he wasn't 'responsible' for anything this vehicle needed.i'm out several hundred dollars on this vehicle.i wasn't looking to get a vehicle that needed so much work done to it right from the start.it has been & continues to be a living nightmare! i have contacted several agencies, only to have them shut there door in my face, because this is a used vehicle. My hands are literally up in the air, i don't know what to do anymore-- what is my legal recourse??

I have a 99 rodeo ls w/63k on it.fuel gauge goes wacky when i fill it up and sometimes when ever it feels like it.i have to use the trip meter to gauge how much fuel i have left.the gauge usually starts to work again when i have 3/4 tank left.starting may take several times.i turn the key and hear a click then nothing.i usually have to press on the brakes or shift into drive and then back into park and it may start.wiper blades stop in mid windshield when using the intermittent setting.i have printed the other complaints and found them useful.i will bring them to my dealer and complain to get them fixed.

Tl- the contact owns a 1999 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that the vehicle stalled and the key failed to turn in the ignition sporadically. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the starter was defective and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred. In addition, the contact mentioned that the suspension was causing the vehicle to sway intermittently.the manufacturer was notified of the failure and advised the contact that the vehicle was not included in recall nhtsa campaign id number: 10v436000 (suspension). Vehicle was consecutively turned off and restarted five times, on the fifth time vehicle would not start. This only occurred when the weather temperature washot.

The contact owns a 1999 isuzu rodeo. While the contact was driving approximately 30 mph,the vehicle stalled completely without warning. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle had prior service repair at an independent mechanic with the replacement of the transmission, and ignition coils. The ignition coils were replaced on four separate occasions within a period of three months. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 218,000. Rodeo has 60,000 miles, at about 40,000 gas gauge quit working. At 30,000 abs unit had to be replaced now abs light is on all the time. Also, the key has to be turned over several times before starting. Clicking noise is all you get otherwise. Dealer says all repairs are our responsibility and very costly.

At 9k miles the car stalled while at stop lights - dealer said they forgot to update the computer chip in the car - at 21k miles the air conditioner and turn signals failed and the car would shift hard while accelerating at 15-20 mph then again at 50 mph - also hard shift at 15 mph on the down shift - dealer said it needed a new transmission at 21k miles !!! new transmission put in and i drove car for 11 days -exact same prob reocurred (air & turn signals failed & hard shift) - dealer said it was the drive train - they took it apart and lubedit thenreturned car to me - drove car for 4 days and exact same prob reocurred (air and signals failed and hard shift) - dealer said it was an exposed wire which they replaced - picking up car tomorrow so we'll see if the same problem happens a fourth time .

Abs indicator associated with wire harness.this problem was associated with 1998 models and should be reviewed for 1999 models too.abs module needing replacing at approximately 30,000 miles.also experience delay or lapse time for vehicle to stop.

Instrument panel has no lights.dealer notified ,and replaced fuse which shorted out, vehicle still in shop for correction.

This car is a lemon.there seem to be major electrical issues.the dash lights are going out, there is a problem with the power shift indicator - the car can be in "drive", yet the indicator will have "neutral" displayed.this causes the car to jerk while shifting.the rear suspension has a vibrating sound no one has figured out......the dealer claims the suspension is fine.in addittion, the rear drum brakes continually go out.

This request is being submitted following a fatal accident that occurred this past summer involving a 1999 rodeo.the circumstances surrounding the accident are suspicious as the driver appeared to be unable to stop his car and traveled across an entire median of an interstate, hit another car head-on and burst into flames upon impact.the driver of the rodeo was my daughter's father and his cause of death was due to thermal burns.he was trapped in the car and burned to death.questions:could brake failure have caused this accident?are there reports of explosions/fires with the isuzu rodeo?crash tests?the driver did not sustain life threatening injuries from the impact of the crash.he died because the vehicle exploded into flames and he was trapped in the vehicle.have there been another reports filed with your organization with these circumstances?please help.

There are three problems with my 1999 isuzu rodeo. 1)the check engine light remains on almost continually.it was checked at royall isuzu in richmond, va, where they found the problem is the fuel sending unit.one other customer was there at the same time with the identical problem on her 1999 rodeo.the service manager said he is seeing an increasing number of rodeos with this problem.how am i to know if a true problem pops up with the vehicle or if the light is only on for the same?2)one by one, the dashboard lights are failing.it started with the clock light and has now gone to the radio light.3)in july 2001, three months after purchase (34,000 miles at time of used purchase) the clutch stopped working suddenly.the clutch fluid reservoir was completely empty.whitten isuzu in richmond, va, took three separate service trips to try to fix it.after the so-called repair, the problem seemed better.for the past several months, the fluid level slowly but steadily decreases so i continually add clutch fluid.now the clutch slips when accelerating in fifth gear.steady driving in fifth does not pose a problem but increasing speed such as uphill or to pass on the highway causes a sudden rise in rpm as the clutch slips.because i purchased it used, the warranty expired at 50,000 miles, so that's gone.it seems as if a problem addressed under warranty should still be repaired.i have given up on calling isuzu customer service as the calls are either not returned from voice mail or i am given a very brusque denial of even considering the problems.i love this vehicle and really enjoy it with the exception of the problems addressed above.i am the only driver and have kept it completely on schedule with oil changes, etc.i see on your complaint search that there are quite a few complaints about the fuel sending unit, so why does isuzu act as if they know of no others?the fuel gauge does not register correctly due to the sending unit.

After only having my rodeo for a few months my abs went bad but it was replaced by the dealer under warranty. Then shortly after that the warranty ended and gas gauge would read empty but it was full, next i have to add oil to my car every two to three days because it burns oil really bad no leakage or nothing like that. Now i have started adding anti-freeze the same amount of time. There are major tranmission problems with this car and from reading the internet it's not just my car it's isuzu.

Coming to a stop light with a speed of 10 - 15 miles, i start pressing the brake pedal to stop the car, instead stopping the rpm came down to 1000 and suddenly the pedal does not go down and is not stopping and starts accelerating and increasing the speed and rpm jumps to over 8000. I left the car for several days to the dealer ( shaver auto center ) san bernardino, caand they could not duplicate my story. On october 29, 2002, i did send the car back to the dealer, i paid for the transportation, i called your organization ( claim # 2301038 oct. 28, 2002 ) and isuzu and i declined to drive the car for not injuring myself or anyone else. In one week it was a recall and the car was fixed. (i have a copy of the towing company signed by the driver.)-two month ago, april 2012, my car has done almost the same think. On june 04, 2012, i did experience the same think as in 2000. I called a dealer and i have been told to live the car over there to see if they could duplicate the problem. It could be duplicated or ...maybe never again, but the problem is there and is a bomb ready to explode.i called your office and i received a very disturbing comments and very unprofessional remarks from; [xxx] and supervisor [xxx] and finally i did file a complain.since your office was very ethnic against me i do not trust my complain was registered even if i have received a claim number. I have been told to wait 4-6 weeks to receive your file, to look over and to see what else i need to add on. In the mean time no one knows what is wrong and no one believes that acceleration of the car is unstoppable and could endanger my life and other people around. The engine blew up.i had the oil changed after thanksgiving 07. Started college in jan. 08, second week in traviling down along hill the engine blew up. It had only been 7 weekssince last oil change.

The antilock brake system indication light illuminated and anti-lock brakes do not function. Check the message boards on the internet and you will see alot of these problems with the same make and model vehicle. Also the egr valve problem where the vehicle clogs with carbon build up causing the check engine light to illuminate intermittenly and the vehicle stalls out.the problems happen to enough of the same make and model vehicles that there should be a recall.

I have had the same problem every year with my air conditioner.the compressor has been replaced every time, twice last year with in 3 months of each other. They have replace the following parts as well gaskets, dryer, valves and cooling clutch. Now i have it in the shop again today.they could not find anything wrong at first except that i was low on freon and they said i should be adding each year.this is not right.now they tell methey found a bad o ring that goes to the hose off the dryer from the air conditioner.i have to pay $100 for theextended warranty charge.i don't think i should even have to pay this.

While driving, the vehiclestarted riding roughly and hesitated while accelerating.the driver was able to drive it to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic informed the consumer that the head gasket was cracked.please fill in additional information.

My rodeo is at 61000 miles, exactly 1000 miles over warranty and i have two cracked cylinder heads which is $4500 to fix.my check engine light did not come on and i had no warning.i have spent 3 days calling isuzu headquarters and receiving nothing but voicemail.after leaving 15 messages i still have not received a return call.

Lease is complete on july 9, 2003.on june 26, 2003 with only 43,947 miles, while slowing down to turn a corner, the head gasket blew.this in turn caused the radiator to fail, which caused the following needed repairs:replacement of the head gasket, manifold gasket, radiator, valve grind gasket, pcm module and various small ticket items such as the oil filter and coolant.had vehicle towed to local mechanic who called for warranty information and was told that only a 3 yr, 50,000 mile warranty was available.i then called isuzu customer service and told about the 5 yr, 60,000 mile power train warranty.contacted our local isuzu dealer who states that only the head gasket is covered under the power train warranty and the remaining repairs would be subject to evaluation to determine whether the vehicle was neglected.until june 26, 2003, the only maintenace required by this vehicle was routine oil changes and completion of recalls, which we were only notified about one of the three recalls.all three recalls were completed when the vehicle was taken in.we have been told by various mechanics, that all the damage to this engine isdirectly related to the failure of the head gasket.if the head gasket had not failed, none of these systems would have to be repaired.we have spoken with our isuzu dealership who comfirmed that the head gasket failure is a common problem in the 1999 isuzu rodeo.if the warrenty covers the head gasket replacement, it should also cover the repair and/or replacement of all systems damaged by this failure.there should not be a question as to whether or not this will be covered under warraqnty.the vehicle is currently being towed from our local mechanic to a licensed isuzu dealer for repairs, who will not be able to evaluate the vehicle until july 3, 2003 at the earliest.

Timing belt broke(recall 01i002), the water pump was leaking and the valves were bent. Consumer is asking for reimbursement for the rental car acquired while vehicle was in for repairs and for the monies spent for scotts auto shop.*jg

The gas gauge does not work any more and the rear wiper also stopped working.both seem to be common problems with the 1999 isuzu rodeo ls.

Coming back from ohio, the oil light briefly went on. There was no indication whatsoever aside from the oil light coming on for a few seconds that a big problem coming up.a few minutes later the engine was making a knocking sound.we try to drive it to a nearest gas station to get it check out.unfortunately it was sunday and no mechanic was available.we oil change our vehicle every 3-4k miles so we have no reason to believe that it would be an oil problem.we tried to drive it but the engine just died on us.the car only have 66k miles on it and now the car is worthless.

1999 isuzu rodeo:fuel guage failure due to problematic fuel sending unit.the fuel guage is not functioning. The guage reads empty after driving less than 100 miles on a full tank of fuel.after driving 30 miles on a full tank, the guage says half empty.the engine also seems to have difficultly starting 80% of the time.

Jan 2004, i started my vehicle and drove about 500 ft when the vehicle started to operate rough. I turned around to go back the parking lot and white smoke (steam i believe) was coming from the exhaust pipe. The isuzu dealer ship told the warranty company that i had been operating the vehicle overheated and that the only thing to do was to replace the entire engine. The temp gauge has never read above median range. I had the head gasket and thermostat replaced by my local mechanic and he said there was no reason to replace the engine just the gaskets. Now, i was setting in traffic 11/2005 and the same thing started happening. What is the issue with the head gasket? are they defective?

1999 isuzu rodeo has problems stopping. Takes a long time to come to a complete stop. Check engine light comes on every two days out of the shop. Burns one quart of oil in a weeks time.

I was never informed of some recalls on my 1999 isuzu rodeo.i am having some of the problems stated in the description of the recalls.my abs brake light is going on and off and i am having some trouble stopping.my check engine light is coming on and when sitting still the car acts as though it is going to cut off.it is running really hard when i come to a stop.i believe that these have to do with the recall.another problem that i am having is my gas gauge is not registering how much gas is in the car and the gas light stays on constantly.i know that it is full because the gas pump stops. *nlm

While driving 70 mph engine failed without warning.

Engine light sporadically came on, but would always go off before we could get the car to a shop.took car to dealership to diagnosis, but could not find a problem. Took car again to same dealership and they replaced the a/c thermostat switch.3 months later after the warranty expired by 2 months, the engine light came on permanently.on-board diagnositic code of p1404 says the egr valve is stuck open.

At about 65,000 miles, the engine has been burning 1/2 quart of oil every 200-300 miles.not leaking onto the ground and do not see in the exhaust.anti-lock brake system (abs) light comes on and off when going over bumps.the abs sensor connection on the rear axle is always loose.gas gauge not reading proper level.have been through 5in-dash cd changers.

On my 1999 rodeo the oil disappears it will go for little while then no oil register on stick it is not burning oil and can't find any leaks. I know this is problem in many of these . It also seems at times that something is dragging in the engine area like fan or something.

While driving 70 mph on the interstate, my suv (1999 isuzu rodeo)began make significant noise and lost all engine power immediately.after being towed to local mechanic, i was informed the engine had been blown because of a lack of oil.documented records show that 5 quarts were replaced 6 weeks ago (2500 miles).the oil has been changed regularly approx every 3000 miles, even though recommendation from the manufacture suggest changing every 7500 miles.there has not been any severe driving conditions that would explain the rapid oil consumption, and the majority of the miles are highway miles.there was no warning light from the oil pressure gauge prior to disaster, no history of previously documented rapid oil consumption, and no indication of an oil leak.estimates have ranged from $6000-$8500 for a refurbished or new engine.this is a leased vehicle with approx. 81000 miles and not covered by a warranty any longer.from researching on the web and this site, this appears to be very common incident.i have never recieved any notification regarding this matter.i firmly believe this problem has been directly related to a manufacturing problem in the engine, and the companies (isuzu/honda) have done nothing to inform their customers of the potential problem and risks.i recommend an investigation into this issue and possibly a class action lawsuit for negligence.

In october of last year my vehicle (99' isuzu rodeo 4cyl) was supposed to have been repaired by king isuzu in fort lauderdale, fl. Under the recall campaign#01i002000, the timing belt and tensioner failed while i was driving and the car would not start, also the valves and pistons were damaged.my vehicle was repaired but here it is, about six months later and 15,000 miles my vehicle has the same exact problem happening again and isuzu refuses to fix the problem.mark smith (service rep.) for isuzu advised me that the parts they replaced were only warrant for 12,000 miles, but i feel like if the same problem has occurred then my vehicle should be repaired.

Excessive oil consumption. Instead of the specified 1 qt/1000 miles, the vehicle consumed 2.75 qt in 2075 miles. The dealer stated the problem was due to driving conditions, which resulted in high oil consumption. In addition, the consumer was informed the materials were not defective and wouldn't be covered under warranty.*ph

The contact owns a 1999 isuzu rodeo.while driving 30 mph, the contact heard a noise coming from the engine.the vehicle then shut off without warning.the mechanic stated that the timing belt was defective.the dealer stated that the vehicle was excluded from recall # 01i002000 (engine and engine cooling:engine).the contact felt that his vehicle should be included.the current and failure mileages were 64,000.

Vehicle revs up when idling, at a stop sign it wants to keep going forward. And after only 3 1/2 years of driving it, my engine needs to be replaced.

Engine --while driving (usually at speeds between 25 and 40 mph) and usually while turning the vehicle either right or left the engine will completly shut itself off.the warning lights kick on and the engine kicks off.on occasion, while parked or going into reverse the engine will do the exact same thing.i have noticed that while parked the rpm's seem to increase greatly before the vehicle shuts down.i have had the car repeatedly at the dealership however, they claim they can not fix the problem because they can't duplicate the problem while driving it.the problems seem to be random and do not always reoccur given the exact same conditions.it did happen yesterday and almost caused a major accident!an additional problem (not as severe) is that when at a stoplight the vehicle has a tendency to lunge forward a bit. (even though my foot is on the brake)it seems to me that both problems may be related (i.e. A fuel pump problem ?)however, i am currently driving a vehicle they claim they can't fix and i now consider extremely dangerous to drive. (to the point that it puts me in life threating situations if it dies while in another major intersection)

I have had this truck for just over a year now. I have had issues from day one. There has been a constant shimmy in the front end. Tires balanced, rebalanced and balanced again. This did not solve the problem. The tire manufacture recommends 30 psi in the tires. The isuzu people ask for 26 psi...at this pressure the vibration get worse...the tires squeal and the truck feels out of control if on a rough road. The truck is under sprung and if the tires are inflated to 30 psi is is almost undrivable. Makes me think of the ford/firestone issue. Might be a problem. The tires wear too quickly...balanced,aligned no help. Dealer tells me this is how the truck is. The other major issue is the oil use...this truck will use, lose somewhere, 1 qt per 500 miles or so. Dealer tells me to check the oil level at every fuel-up....i feel this is bull. Purchased a new truck so i would do regular scheduled maintence. My biggest concern is the tires and lack of control. I can get nowhere to solve my problems with isuzu. (tiresize: 235-75-r15)( dot number:tire size: 235-75-r15 )

The vehicle has experienced an excessive oil leak 2 months after purchased, the dealer has replaced the washer seal,, pan gasket, electric connector, transmission pan, the transmission was replaced but the leak reoccured.

While driving at any speed consumer noticed a noise whenindicator light flashed on dashboard, and vehicle cut off without prior warning. Dealer has made repairs toair conditioner compressor and dryer, problem has reoccurred. Please provide any further details.

I would like to place my complaint on the isuzu company. I have (had) a 1999 isuzu rodeo lx with 78,000 miles on it. I have had it serviced regularly oil changes etc.ever since i hit 40,000 miles my check engine light has came on and will not go off, my gas gauge went out saying i am always on empty (500.00 to fix) and now at only 78,000 miles my engine has blown!!!!! $4,500.00 worth of damage. My story has a lot more to it but i cannot write it all. I toke it in several times to the isuzu service center in austell georgia to eddie and told them something was wrong with the truck. It had a gas smell to it the check engine light was on and it was running sluggish. Mind you i was still under warranty. Each time they found nothing wrong until after my warranty was up!!!!!!! i have been doing research on this vehicle and have found that 100's of people have had the same problem. I want ot file a class action lawsuit recommend to me by my lawyer.

The only notice that i had was the jerking of the car and at this time i was not getting any pull from the engine. The fastest that i could go was only 30 mph. Car has a rotten egg smell.tech said to use low grade gas instead of high grade gas & that is what we have done.the car still has a rotten egg smell.the car starts to ping after 2,500 miles after each oil change.after adding a half quart of oil the car stops pinging.i have my oil changed every 3,000 miles as recommended.the car on over 20 different occasions has completely shut off most times this occurs when i am coming to a stop at an intersection.one time my husband, two children and myself were in the car driving down a steep hill at a park at a slow speed & the car shut off.fortunately we have not been in any accidents due to these issues.i do not feel i should have to be adding oil to a new car every 2,500 miles after each oil change.the dealership tells me it is normal for my car to tap when the oil is low and that my car is not out of oil it is only a quart short when the tapping begins.they have never been able to duplicate the stalling and therefor tell me they can't do anything about it.i have never had so many problems with any of my other cars.i leased a new car so that i wouldn't have to worry about the safety of my children and having my car in for service all of the time.

Extremely excessive oil consumption on isuzu rodeo 1999 model. Had the same problem with isuzu rodeo 2000 model. Fortunately i dont have to deal with the 2000 model any more as it has been totaled byt my insurance company due to improper repair after a collision in march of 2005. I did not know that the 1999 isuzu rodeo had the same problem until my son who drove the suv brought it back to me two weeks ago, as he is in the military and is deploying to iraq. It seems that the vehicle spent more time at the dealership getting repaired than beingon the road. My son asked me to get rid of it as he is tired dealing with all the problems this car had. Upon his arrival i noticed the car low on oil and i added two quarts. My son informed me that he had just changed oil prior leaving grand forks afb in nd and driving to norman, ok. After driving for 5 days i checked oil level and it was again two quarts low, after only driving 300 miles. I then decidedto inquire on the web for similar incidents, and i could not believe the quantity of people with the same problem with their isuzus. In addition, one of my co-workers isuzu trooper engine was damaged due to the same problem in 2004. I found this site trough searching the internet for similar issues. In addition i called the dealership where i purchased my 2000 isuzu and have been informed that isuzu is aware of the issue but no buletin or recall has been issued, and that it is not considered a problem at this time. I keep my cars well maintained, and check my pcv and egr valves on a regular basis. I perform most of my car maintenance myself and use the best porducts on the market. With so many of us affected with the same condition on our isuzu's is isuzu/gm going to be held accountable for a bad product they know they have, or are we as consumers having to pay the bill for their inferior engines installed in these suv's. While driving 55 mph the fuel tank separated from the vehicle; yet, there was no fuel leak. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who inspected the vehicle and stated the fuel tank bracket was corroded. The manufacturer filed report 10277020. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and the current miles were 144,000.

At about 55,000 miles the gas gauge stopped functioning properly and accurately. It is completely unreliable, and i have to reset the trip meter each time i fill the vehicle up with gas. For the last 2-3 months any time the back of the car is inclined down, the empty fuel tank light activates and the gage moves down to the empty position. Once the car is inclined forward or flat, the light turns off within a few seconds and within 1-3 minutes the gage moves back up.the gage is also slow to respond to filling, and in general not extremely accurate.i called the local dealer/service people, said the gage is acting odd, how much work is involved with troubleshooting the exact problem.they said, we know what it is, it is the sending unit that needs to be replaced. (requiring fuel tank & pump removal, etc...) if this problem is so prevalent that the service desk personnel know immediately what the problem is, obviously this is an extremely common failure and a defective part. *nlm

Fuel level sensor in gas tank failed early in automobile's life.gas gauge used to read incorrectly, eventually not registering any gasoline at all (always on empty).this has caused automobile's "check engine" light to illuminate, though there is no true issue with the engine.this issue did not lead to any injuries, though could if there was a driver who was unaware of this problem (ie, running out of gas in unpopulated area, etc.).i am aware of a number of people who have complained (online and via phone) about this problem and do not understand why it has not been elevated to recall status as of yet.

I recently was involved in an accident that i could not avoid.2 weeks prior to the accident i received a recall in the mail for my abs module and brake system.although my abs light was already on i assumed the recall was why.i took it in,they supposedly fixed it.i guess i was wrong. I drove up and told the gentleman that my abs light was still on,and i asked why he said that that wasn't part of the recall.my question is how can it not be part of the recall when it's part of the module.so i left it and decided to take it back when i can get the money to cover my co-pay.the i get in the accident,keep in mind that they just fixed my abs system and brakes.it had rained and i tried to stop to keep from hitting someone.it didn't work,i've had vehicles with abs before,so i know what they are suppose to do,and that didn't happen.i just slid and i mean slid into this guy.if the isuzu place where i took my vehicle to get fixed would have been fixed right the first time,i could have avoided this whole situation.but instead i got this whole story about hooking it up to a diagnostic machine &there could have been 30-40 different things wrong with it,and that would cost me $180.00.but instead i took it for granted that they fixed the recall defect. That's only my first complaint,i have had numerous problems with my gas in this vehicle.i took it in 2-4 times to get it fixed and all they do is a visual inspection, and tell me nothing is wrong. A brake problem that occurs when stepping on the brakes over bumps.the braking distance increases and could cause an accident if following another vehicle closely. And the fuel gauge does not work.

We have had our isuzu rodeo for 2 months.we, my finacee and 5 yr old, were driving the vehicle when apparently the gas line to the main engine broke off.we had gas shooting every where.we were told by the tech's that the line apparently snapped off.that we might have hit a bump.i have filed a complaint with the bbb and i am in dispute with the dealership.we were told, by the fire department, that we were fortunate the suv did not explode.we wish to inform others of the possible defect that could save lives.

Recall 021-002 was done on the truck but the abs light continued to illuminate (isuzu rodeo). While driving the fuel pump failed/sender assembly failed and caused the vehicle to shut off.

Fuel sending unit reacts to chemical additives over times and fails.this causes gas guage to read imporperly or not at all.this also causes the check engine light to appear.new sending unit needed and removal of gas tank necesary to replace unit.quoted at 500 dollars to replace the 36 dollar part.

Slowly but surely, the fuel gauge stopped working. The defect is in the fuel sending unit and that part is not available for purchase. I had to replace the entire fuel pump. The problem, and somewhat of a safety concern is, you never know how much gas you have. I did run out of gas twice before having it replaced. Once going up a hill... On a major road... What an experience. The other was also on a busy road. Watching the speedometer never really seems to work. Since this problem seems to occur on the majority of rodeo's during those years, i think it should be recalled (check msn auto, or just search isuzu rodeo reliability on google and you'll find hundreds of site with the same complaint). Even my mechanic said he sees this problem all of the time. If isuzu has any plan of staying around in the us, they need to keep their current customers happy or they won't have any (because they don't do much advertising, so i don't see how they plan on getting new customers).

Dispute with regard to mechanical failure and negligent service performed on 1999 isuzu rodeo.*phthe vehicle appeared to have a common problem with the engine revving up and down erratically which caused the rpm's to race up and down while the vehicle surged in gear. The consumer stated the problem was corrected when the iac motor, sensor and asm switch was replaced.the vehicle had a strong fuel smell, it was discovered, the mechanic failed to replacetwo bolts which held a fuel bracket and hose on the back if the intake.after the constant surging of the vehicle over a long period of time, the transmission went out.

How many complaints need to be filed before the nhtsa finally steps in? the below complaints are not coincidences, it's a safety and integrity issue that needs to be resolved. I was at first suspicous that the dealer broke it doing other repairs, but now i see that the problem is rampant and probably not related. The fuel guage is useless. I keep track using the odometer because repair cost is prohibitive, with no guarantee that it won't fail again. This is clearly a quality/engineering problem and a safety issue that isuzu should remedy. How can they recall 1998 and 2000 and skip 1999?

Gas gauge has gone. Horrible gas mileage since occurrence. It is obvious this is a problem by doing research and seeing the listings of complaints.

Here we are again with this crazy fuel light. Can have a full tank of gas and fuel light is gleaming and blinks empty. This is a safety hazard!!!!!. Last week my wiferan out of gas doing 45 mph. You lose power steering and the possibility of locking your steering wheel causing a major accident.luckily she didn't hit anything. They need to fix this before someone gets hurt. I purchased a new 1999 rodeo which currently has approx. 50,745 miles. 2nd day of owning the vehicle, check engine light stayed on, took it to the dealership which "fixed" the problem; driving out of the lot for the second time, light came back on, took the dealership 1 week to try and figure out what was wrong with the car. Fortunately, that problem was corrected. Now, the fuel gauge indicator light continuously flashes or stays on when tank is full, making it very difficult to know how much gas is really in the tank. Not to mention the anxiety trying to remember when i last filled the tank and how much fuel it took.car vibrates at speeds higher than 55mph steering wheel just shakes. Problem with the anti lock braking system. While driving over wet surfaces or bumps, anti lock brakes seem to slide causing vehicle to continue to move after brake has been applied.timing belt was cracked and had to be replaced without ever receiving any notification from isuzu therefore, i had to absorb the cost of replacing a defective item originally installed by the manufacturer. Hoping isuzuwill reimburse.i have not received any recall notices since i purchased the vehicle in 1999.

The gas gauge on my 99 rodeo is defective. I have 66,000 miles and the problem just began within the past couple of weeks. It constantly moves up and down, even after filling the tank. I called my local dealer and was told it would cost between $400 and $500 to repair and that eventually this would trigger the check engine light. When the check engine light comes on, it will cost even more to repair. The gas gage on my car reads empty after only driving about 90 to 100 miles on a full tank.after only 30 miles it reads half full.if i'm on an incline, no matter how much gas i have, the gas light will blink. This is obvioulsy a defect since others are having the same problem.regardless of the fact that i know how many miles my car can normally get on a full tank, it varies based on many different circumstances. Gas gauge is reading the gas tank level incorrectly.after filling the tank with gas, the gas gauge will read empty. The gas level will fluctuate constantly from empty to full. I have talked to other owners that have experienced the same issue.

Fuel gauge/sensor failure. Fuel indicator displays incorrect amount of fuel. Indicator reads that the tank is full immediately after filling, but becomes erratic at about 10 miles and then indicates an empty tank soon thereafter. Fuel light also flashes on and off periodically.

The gasoline quantity indicator displays a lower fuel level than the actual amount in the tank.it also intermittently drops to empty and the "low fuel" warning lamp illuminates.our 1999 isuzu rodeo has just over 44,000 miles and is in "mint condition".though this is not a safety concern, it does raise questions about product reliability and quality.there are numerous complaints on this website to indicate an investigation of this part is necessary, especially since the part alone lists for over $250, add in labor and the cost can easily exceed $500.this part should function quite a bit longer than four years since, on most vehicles, this parts last the entire life of the vehicle.

Dt:there is a problem with the inhibiter switch that is attached to the outside of the transmission.this problem first started on8-16-05.when the gears are moved there is a clanking sound and the transition from one gear to the other is hard.when she contacted the dealer, they told her that the transmission could go out because of this problem and advised her to park the vehicle.also,another mechanic told her topark the vehicle. The consumer is concerned that the replacement part is on back order because there is a problem with this in multiple vehicles.

As another complainant listed, this car is a lemon! huge electrical issues with the mode selector shift switch; automatic transmission will be in drive but dash indicator light will say neutral; cost to fix problem was $ including a new transmission because bad switch ruined the transmission! no help from gm/isuzu owner relations. The gear shift sticks in the parking mode: i drove up to the drive through atm teller and put the car in park, after getting money out of the machine, and trying to drive off, the gear shift would not come out of the park position. After letting it sit for approx. 10 minutes, i was able to move the shift out of park to the drive position.

We were involved in a rear-end crash and the seats broke, result in hitting the lower portion of the back and are suffering serve pain, i feel that if both seats had not broke they way they did then the injury would have not been so serious and painful.

My son was driving a 1999 isuzu rodeo when he had an accident.since there were no "brake marks" on the road the accident was considered to be his fault. He stated that he turned left from a stop sign and car began to accelerate on its on, applied brakes and car continued to rev up causing him to lose control, hit a ditch, and land car on it's side. No injuries except sore wrist. The car has 138,000 miles

I left a friends house and got on 295 when i heard a loud banging, then a short time later i lost my brakes. Come to find out that i was told the shock broke and because of that it broke my brake line and the support for the suspension was all rusted out. I was told by a friend of mine about a recall involving the suspension and what i had described was the problem. So i call isuzu and they told me thatas of dec. 2012 that they were no longer fixing any more vehicles with this issue and that there is nothing more they can do. Well since i bought the vehicle used i never received and recall notice. I could have had a very bad accident, considering i had 2 people cut in front of me and i had to use the emergency brake to slow down. This is bs. I cant afford to have this fixed and im pretty sure that this vehicle has too much rust to be fixed. So now i don't have a vehicle and need one.

The contact owns a 1999 isuzu rodeo. While driving 55 mph, the contact depressed the brake pedal and the abs engaged, and an abnormal noise was heard. After a few seconds, the vehicle eventually stopped and the abs warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who informed the contact of a previous unknown recall. The mechanic diagnosed that the abs integrator module needed to be replaced. The contact called an unknown dealer located over 200 miles away and was informed that they may be unable to provide the parts due to the age of the vehicle and the manufacturer. The manufacturer was called, but the contact was unable to reach anyone. The failure mileage was approximately 154,000.

1999 isuzu rodeo has problems stopping. Takes a long time to come to a complete stop. Check engine light comes on every two days out of the shop. Burns one quart of oil in a weeks time.

I was driviing down a freeway offramp and when i applied the brakes, they failed.i pumped the brakes and all the happened was that they made a bouncing noise but did not engage.i had to swerve to avoid the car in front of me where i then got hit and pushed into a guardrail.

As i pulled into a parking spot at an elementary school, the brakes failed, the throttle engaged, and i crashed into a wall.luckily, i was only going about 1 mph, but damage was done to the hood, pass. Side fender, grill, and radiator.this was the second time this has happened.

Abs failure design problem.extended braking distance especially on wet or bumpy surfaces.the abs system seems to disengage any significant braking effect.this has not caused an accident yet, but when it happens intermittently, nothing appears to help the brakes engage in a normal fashion.the manufacturer does not acknowledge a design problem despite numerous other complaints by other owners and a recall on 1998 vehicles that they will not apply to my 1999 model.this is not a matter that can be resolved by the manufacturer or their dealer without outside intervention.the problem is serious and is endangering my family.the stopping distance is drastically increased with this system.i would feel much safer if the system could be permanently disengaged, so i could stop in an emergency.dt

While downshifting to 3rd gear to make a left hand turn on to montana ave. From loop 375 my brake pedal depressed to the floor and i had no brakes.i also heard a noise coming from under the front of the hood.when i pressed the brake pedal again the brakes engaged.this, however, did not take place until i was in the center of the intersection.the vehicle was taken to the service department where i purchased the vehicle.they reported that no problem was found.

I have had problems with the brakes on my isuzu rodeo about 5 times since may 1999.the problem occurs, if i am applying the brakes and the car goes over any bumpy surface (railroad crossing, bump in the road, uneven road surface, etc..).when this happens the brakes seem to release very much and it is very difficult to stop.i contacted the manufacturer about the problem and they indicated that they were aware of the problem, but that these abs brakes were designed this way, and they meet all federal standards.i know i was getting the company line, but i could feel that the person speaking with me agreed that this is a potential problem.he basically told me, that these abs brakes do release and the rate at which the car decelerates is reduced "somewhat"but it still falls within the federal mandates.the fact that your deceleration rate is not constant is where i see the problem.you cannot judge your braking capabilities, because if for some reason you hit a bump in the road while stopping, it may take you twice as long to stop.i do not want my kids riding in this car because i am afraid that we may get into an accident. Any consideration to this problem would be appreciated.

We checked the brakes checked many times, we felt that the braking distances were extended compared to the other 2 cars that we own.every time the brake pads were checked they were determined to be okay.the anti-lock brakes seem to grab on bumpy or slippery surfaces and then let go at the end.this particular instance resulted in an automobile accident with injury and significant damage to 2 cars.

In december 2002, i had the abs module replaced due to the unit 'being fried' according to the mechanic.one year later, the abs warning light illuminated and there is sporatic braking slippage especially braking down hill.unfortunately, the dealer indicated that there is a $100 diagnostic test that needs to be done to identify the problem before looking at anything.after diagnostic test, the dealer states there is a problem with the rear sensor (another $160 to fix).the 99 isuzu rodeo only has 40,000 miles at this point and has two problems with the abs system.the dealer did a vin search and my car was not part of the recall.

We have a 1999 isuzu rodeo my daughter was driving at about 25 mph during the rain when she gently applied the brakes, she heard a noise the rodeo began sliding causing an impact which resulted in an accident. Various other times we would be driving and especially during wet road conditions the brakes made a noise causing the tires to rotate prematurely in an uncontrollable sliding motion.in 2011 we took our rodeo in on recall no. 10v-436, (excessive corrosion may result in the left or right rear suspension lower link bracket becoming detached from the frame, which can affect vehicle handling and potentially cause a crash.) the dealership performed the inspection which was determined that the recall should not be performed. Due to excessive corrosion the reinforcement bracket remedy would not be appropriate. In order to perform this recall the body is detached from the frame and if corrosion is present on the frame this recall would only cause further damages weakening the frame making it unsafe to operate the vehicle. The frames should be recalled also! the frames also have excessive corrosion and also once a frame is compromised it's weakened! by doing this recall it diminshes the integrity of the frame anyway. Therefore, this recall is not a resolution to the problems it's a bigger safety issue and puts many consumers at risk! as for isuzu providing the consumers with an appropriate remedy... This is not happening!

When car was first purchased, brakes would occasionally stick restricting car to 35 mph on highway. Dealer suggested letting brakes "wear" in. Problem continued off and on for about 3-4 months, we learned to pull the brake pedal up to release when stuck. The next day i called to talk to svc mgr (john michael), i said "wifes rodeo was making a noise, like a fan running, without key in ignition" john quickly interjected "and the abs light was on". It seems that this is a common problem that isuzu seems to be ignoring at the cost of consumers, possibly the cost of someones safety. We will be responsible for the $250-$500 repair bill (3 months out of warranty). I did some research and it appears numerous reports have been filed on rodeos abs failures.

Oem tires wear out quickly, my wife and i owned 2 of these vehicles. One with yokohamas one with goodyears. Uneven tread wear resultin in tire cupping and very rough ride. Her rodeo was a ls 4wd mine is a 2wd base model. I look at tires on other rodeos i come across in parking lots and all show signs of uneven wear. Also abs system is junk. Any stop not executed on even level pavement results in loud grinding noise and very long braking distances. This is obviously a major problem with these vehicles and i consider it very dangerous. It's almost as if the "computer" gets confused and resets during anything other than ideal braking conditions. Brakes failure occurs when braking while going over any type of bump such as any small bump in the road, speed bump, road drainage grate, etc.. At slow speeds (10-25 mph). This problem also occurs on wet roads.this has caused my vehicle to lurch forward into an intersection and narrowly miss rear-ending vehicles in front of me.when this issue occurs, the abs takes over causing loss of brakes for 1-3 seconds and the vehicle continues to lurch forward.i'm afraid that this will result in an auto accident one of these days.

I am still experiencing the inability to stop my 1999 isuzu rodeo on occasion even though i have had the abs control module replaced according to the 02i002000 recall. The dealership replaced the abs cim on 10/29/2003. On 1/9/2004, i lost control of my brakes twice in winter weather. The brakes went almost to the floor with a grinding sound and to stop, i used my hand brake. I had a friend recreate the problem the same day. I don't believe the recall has solved the problem. I had an abs service repair by a dealer done on 12-10-2002 on my 1999 isuzu rodeo vehicle and the part that was replaced was a modulator for the abs sensor. Last monday, 04-18-05, there was a recall that another dealer advised me tobe serviced on the same nature of problem. Afterwards, i've called the isuzu manufacturer's office and told them about my problem and i've pleaded if they can reimburse me on the first service repair that was done on my abs. They turned me down. I wish to bring them to the court but i was adviced if i can ask your good office to please investigate if my claims can be validated by yours. Thanks.

I have had this vehicle since august 1999. At various times for no rhyme or reason the vehicle surges and i have had to use 2 feet to try and stop this vehicle. I yelled at him saying that isnt solving the problem, and i wouldnt do that to a unsuspecting sole, he said well the next time it happens bring it in. Everytime the brake is applied and the vehicle hits a bump, the abs disengages the brake and waits for 1-2 seconds before engages the brake again.this converts to quite a bit of lost braking distance.as drivers, we cannot keep monitoring the surface of the road when applying the brakes.during that 1-2 second window, there is always a sound similar to someone dropping a basketball to a concrete floor from about knee level.as the ball bounces back, it does not travel as high as before; therefore, the frequency of the sound becomes faster until it stops.by the time the sound stops, the brake engages again.i think there is faulty brake mechanism that causes this sound and the abs failure.i have spoken to the service manager of isuzu and he mentioned that that is the way abs works.please advise.

We had a serious safety event with a 1999 isuzu rodeo.i was trying to drive the vehicle up service ramps to change the oil.to go up the ramp, i pressed the brake with my left foot while giving a little gas with the right.this is the same technique i have been using, on the same ramps for at least 15 years, with several other vehicles.(two other vehicles i routinely service also have abs braking systems).on this occasion, the vehicle shot forward.as best as i can determine, the front brakes locked up while the back wheels did not.i got the abs effect on the pedal, while the vehicle shot forward, collapsing the ramps and sliding on them 20 feet before i could get the vehicle to stop.the actions i performed are exactly the same as i would use trying to position the vehicle while going up a steep hill.i am a at a loss to understand exactly what happened except that pressing the brake harder did not work. I was not able to stop the vehicle until i took the transmission out of gear.apparently, once the front wheels stopped turning, while the rear were rolling, the abs system prevented the brakes from stopping the rear wheels.(when the transmission shifted to neutral, the forward drive stopped, but the engine did not race indicating that i was not pressing the accelerator).fortunately, there was no car coming down the street, and i was able to get it to stop before we hit the car across the street.*la

I am scared every time i drive my vehicle.i have 3 kids and this is the family vehicle that we bought for a dependable safe car.every time that i have to hit the brakes i wonder if the rodeo will stop.i have drove through intersections and not stoped at stop signs.i have lost brakes on the wet roads and litteraly been scared to drive my rodeo. I have shown the isuzu central managerthat the rodeo does not stop at a certian stop sign and he still tells me that it is within normal limits.i don't know what to do at this point because i owe as much as the car is worth and i don't have the money to put up another down payment.

In august of 2002 , i was driving my 1999 rodeo that i had leased new in 2002 and this running noise continued after i turned off the engine. It was the abs module. It had to be unplugged to keep the battery from being run down. The repair is about $500.00 and isuzu wants to ignore that there is a problem with this component. Before the noise started,the stopping distance was very long and there was a popping feeling in the brake pedal. I took it in to the dealer and was told "nothing was wrong and that was the way anti-lock brakes felt" the abs light came on.all of this started with 40,000 miles on the vehicle. There is a problem with the rodeo that needs to be addressed and recalled by isuzu without the cost of life or money to the consumer.

Isuzu 1999 rodeo.i purchased the vehicle on 6-17-03 and on the way home the abs light went on.when i went to shut off the car the module kept running.we had to pop the abs fuse for it to stop.so the car went back the next day.from there it went to an isuzu dealer to fix.there is definitely a problem isuzu needs to deal with.

Thursday, april 3, 2003 my 1999 isuzu rodeo began making unusual sounds from inside the hood and the abs light lit up on the dashboard.upon looking under the hood, i discovered the brake module was running despite turning the car off and removing the key.the only way to stop the module from running was to remove the negative cable from the battery.i immediately called the crest isuzu dealership in plano, texas and spoke the service department about the problem.the technician's first response was that i may qualify for a free replacement because there was a "manufacturer's installation problem" on some of the rodeos coming from certain plants.i gave him my vin number and he came back and told me my vin number was not on the list.i found it odd that isuzu would recognize that some parts were defective, but not respond to mine.my next step was to contact the owner relations department of american isuzu motors, inc.i initially spoke with don who informed me that in july, isuzu was launching a campaign to replace all brake modules in 1999 isuzu rodeos.i was told this was a safety upgrade and did not mean that the part had any problems.i was told that i would have to pay for the replacement of my module because it was not yet july.i am being told two separate stories from isuzu employees.i need a written response from isuzu explaining how my defective brake module is not related to the campaign to replace all brake modules in july.i don't think isuzu wants to be responsible for any accidents that may result in the next 3 months because my defective brake module was not attended to.*nlm

Received a recall for rear suspension brackets. When vehicle was taken to isuzu service center , was told the frame was so rusted they are unable to repair the rear brackets and it was an unsafe vehicle.

Undercarriage of my 1999 isuzu rodeo has major rust damage. Recently replaced the steering coupling due to rust.

2 days after leaving gatlinburg,tennesseeto booneville ky the bracket that holds rear end broke away from frame on drivers side almost causing a bad accident. Caused steering and handling to be uncontrollable. Luckily we were only going 30 mph at time. If it would have happened coming back from tenn on interstate [i drove 95mph home]me and my children would most likely not survived. Isuzu stated that in fact there was a recall in 2010 but i needed to contact them then. I gave 3500 for this truck on october 21,2010 and was never notified of any safety issues. Truck has great body,clean interior, no oil anywhere on engine, looks as good as new. Never would think the frame was almost rusted into on in. From bracket infront of rear tire thru till behind front tire is rusted beyond repair. I had just purchased 425.00 new tires and put on it. Now its a total loss.

The contact owns a 1999 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the vehicle started to shake. The contact pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and discovered a large piece of rust that fell from the bottom of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local body shop where the contact was informed that the chassis was fractured due to corrosion. The manufacturer was not notified about the failure. The failure mileage was 40,000 and the current mileage was 50,000.

Drivers side top shock plate rotted out , shock came loose and broke brake line also put hole in gas fill pipe.

The frame and rear suspension on my vehicle has cracked while driving at 25 mph.i believe it was during a turn when i felt a shudder that was abnormal and when i stopped and looked at the underside of the rear of the car, i saw the frame box and housing for the rear suspension coil on the driver's side had snapped.my vehicle body is 99% rust free but the frame is completely rusted through and at some places perforations can be seen.slight pressure on the frame with your finger can bend the metal.

1999 isuzu rodeo rear suspension rotted and disconnected spring from rear left tire. Also right front sway bar rotted causing car to swerve during highway driving. Upon inspection while on lift it is obvious that the frame is rotting through, making the vehicle, which runs great, unsafe to drive.

The recall for the forward mounting bracket for the left and rear suspension does not include a rental car for the duration of the repair.i have to work and do not feel i should have to pay for a rental car for a recall problem.i've been told it will take at least 3 days or they will keep the car permanently if it is too bad to repair.i would be left without a vehicle to get to work or to look for a vehicle if they should keep it. I feel a rental car should be provided for a reasonable amount of time also if they should keep the vehicle.

While my son was driving the vehicle he lost control when the rear axle made a loud noise and rear of suv veered off. He recovered the control of the vehicle and pulled to side of road. A large piece of the suspension bar that connected to rear axle was detached from frame of vehicle. He drove suv slowly home the remaining two blocks. Upon inspection by mechanic (and myself) it was determined that the rear stabilization arm to the axle was rusted to the extent that it snapped off the frame of the vehicle. The location of where the bar attached to vehicle was also rusted. The mechanic estimated that the bar would need to be welded back on to the frame, however, the corrosion on the frame was such that there might not even be a possible weld spot. The other side of rear suspension (passenger side) was also highly corroded. The vehicle is not safe to be driven right now.

While driving i felt the rear of the vehicle swing from left to right, then seconds later there was no brake. I went to investigate and notice that the entire frame of the car was rotted out. The bracket that "house" the shock was rotted out, which caused the shock to break loose and sever the break line. The bracket that attached the axle to the frame was also rotted and is separating. I was able to pull over safely, no one was hurt. I need to know what process to take to ensure vehicle issues are corrected considering this year ,make and model was on the recall list, and that several news channel (team 5 investigates) as done report on this very problem.

My 1999 isuzu rodeo was kept by a dealership service center after the recall determined that it was unsafe to drive due to heavy frame corrosion.i know the vehicle to be worth $2500-$3500 but isuzu only wishes to offer me 1600 which is what i paid for it and far less than what the previous owner was asking.i have been without a vehicle since then and am somewhat insulted by the low offer and slow speed in which this deal is taking place.they call from unknown numbers use holidays as an excuse for slow work.i don't want some huge unreasonable amount of money, or even retail.i believe actual cash value based on similar models sold near to my geographic area.i believe isuzu is simply trying to move things along and not trying to use good business practices.i will be consulting attorneys to see if i have any other options.

I have a 1999 isuzu rodeo and the frame is extremely rusted. We have replaced the right spring and shock absorber due to rust out and breakage. It had punctured the rear cargo area. We had to have a new piece made and welded on to make the car safe to drive. However the rust situation is now a 100 times worse. The entire undercarriage is rusted and deteriorated. We had contacted the isuzu company at the time of the incident to complain and were told that there was nothing they could do for us.

I have a 1999 isuzu rodeo in april of this year i was driving on rte 104 in new hampton nh at or about 7:30 am. I was accelerating up hill when the rear of the rodeo on the drivers side suddenly lifted up and put the rodeo into a hard left turn, into oncoming traffic at a point in the road that has a rising speed limit to 50 mph. I reacted as quickly as i could and let off the accelerator and turned hard right . I missed the on coming 10 wheel dump truck by mere inches with his horn blasting at me and the pick up truck behind me locked up there brakes and almost ran into me. I slowed and pulled as far as i could off the road as there was not too much room . I got it trailered to a shop where we discovered the lower suspension link had broken from the frame. This is a dangerous situation and in no way represents the condition of the rest of my vehicle.i understand that it is not a new car but there are alot of these on the road and i feel , looking at my frame that it has rusted from the inside out and is truly difficult to detect until it is too far gone. After having this car on a lift and seeing what appears to be small surface rust spots is actually crumbling away from the inside. I have seen some recall info on the issue that i have, although i have received no notice as of yet i feel the issue is worse than described. I have looked at a few at dealers and in local parking lots and they look like mine. I have also felt that most of them were in good shape otherwise and the few people i spoke towere unaware of any issue.my $3000 rodeo now sits in my back yard as i feel it is too unsafe to repair without a new frame and not worth the cost of replacement.

I also recently experienced the same problem with my rodeo isuzu.i was driving through town on my lunch break when i suddenly heard a metal 'popping' sound.i listened again and could not hear or feel anything.a few minutes later i lost control of my steering, fishtailing down a hill.there was really no where to pull off and i was about a quarter mile from my work's parking lot so i drove slowly, about 5 mph back to the parking lot (shaking).it was very frightening but fortunately i was not on a highway going 60 mph or i could have been seriously injured or worse, injured somebody else!my husbandarrived and looked under the rodeo and was shocked to see the underneath frame had been completely rusted out with the rear stabilizer bar detached from the frame.we took the vehicle to a frame specialist only to find the car is not repairable and virtually worth $0.it is a 1999 rodeo lse and i bought it used but have had it for 9 years and it is still in great shape.the body is perfect and have had no problems with the vehicle at all.i have attached photos for your review.i am very disappointed to find i have to scrap this vehicle.i am not sure what the next step is, could you please reply.we are filing a complaint with isuzu as well as filling out your questionnaire.i hope to hear from somebody soon.i need to know if it is important to keep the vehicle until this issue is resolved?

1999 isuzu rodeo ls 4wd 135000 miles. I am the original owner. As i am sure you know these vehicles are not safe on the road. This past january 2009 i noticed my spare tire was hanging lower than it should and a friend said it was swaying side to side when i left his house. Upon further investigation later that day. I found that the spare tire mounts had almost completely rotted away and the tire was ready to fall off. Looking over the rest of the back of the vehicle i noticed that the left control arm mount had almost rotted off. Massive holes were in the side of the frame, on both sides. The spring perches were mostly rotted off and pushed up against the floor of the vehicle. The entire rear bumper had fallen off. Basically the vehicle is a mess in the back and unsafe for the road which is a shame because it runs great and looks decent. Because of what i have found. The vehicle will not pass inspection ever again and is unsafe for the road. I have not driven it since that day.

Extreme rust on rear truck frame near the attachment point for the rear axle. Sent truck in to the dealer for an unrelated repair, and the dealer looked for and found this issue. They reported to me that "the vehicle is unsafe to drive" on the bill. The rear frame is brittle to the point that you can "poke holes in it with your finger." (dealer's words).i've also been told that it is unrepairable.

I have a 99 rodeo i was driving down the street on dec. 24 when the trailing arm separated from the frame it's a large miracle that i wasn't killed when i lost complete control of the vehicle. I had received a recall noticefor thebracket that came off the frame. I had my rodeo towed to the locale dealer who after keeping it for one month finally called to inform me that the vehicle cannot be repaired due to the fact that the frame is so rotted they have nowhere to reattach the bracket. The isuzu corp. Then called me to offer a ridiculous buy back amount of 1500 which they say is the cost of the repair they can't perform. The bracket that was recalled is not the real issue the rotting frame is the frames on these vehicles is so rotted through that no bracket can be reattached safely. I have read thousands of posts from people with the exact same issue with there vehicle and i am disgusted with the fact that noone has done anything to make isuzu fix the real problem or at least pay people what is right and that is at least fair market value. Because they are a big corp with lots of money and resources they can do what they like and us unfortunate less powerful rodeo owners can do nothing about it. Someone needs to address this issue and get these unsafe vehicles of the road before someone dies behind the wheel of one.

Was driving down highway when rear of vehicle started swaying. Checked out the rear and found the frame and its brackets are rotted out.contacted isuzu corp and they took my claim and gave me a case number.service garage says its to the point of no return its only good for scrap. In my opinion isuzu doesn't care about the safety issue.its a money issue to them. A recall would be tooo costly but, tell that to a child whose family all died in an accident that isuzu wont own up to.

Driving from the pittsburgh airport parking lot on a side road. Approximately 2 min after driving the car immediately lost control - no steering or brakes.it was extremely dangerous. The car veered across to the other side of the roadi managed to miss oncoming traffic and just missed going down an embankment.before coming to a stop there was a 'popping' noise from the car.upon looking under the car one of the members has separated from the frame the car was then towed to the isuzu agency in wexford, pittsburghupon inspection the car was deemed 'dangerous' and beyond repair as the car needed a new frame due to excessive rust. The car remains at the isuzu agencywe have been informed that there is a possibility of a federal investigation due to the dangerous nature of the damage - which i can certainly advocatethe rest of the car has been extremely well maintained and we envisioned many more years of careful drivingthis manufacturing error should be rectified before someone is either badly injured or indeed killed by this inferior design.

We were lucky to have found the damage before any actual "incident, crash, or injury occurred.......however extensive frame rot was discovered on our 1999 isuzu rodeo during it's annual state safety inspection in july, 2009. The frame required multiple patches, including several to the area surrounding the lower control arm mounting brackets, as well as reconstruction of the upper coil spring mounting brackets.we spent nearly $1000.00 in labor costs, to have the rusted-out frame repaired, and made safe.

Went to drive down the road and heard clinking sound. Axle support bracket broke and shaft hanging down. But looking closer the entire rear end of frame has significant rust. I owned a 1999 isuzu rodeo and i was leaving my house in april 2008. I was going down my driveway at less then 5mphand the car just dropped down. I called a tow truck to come and get it and he took it to a local shop for me and that's when they told me the suv's frame had rusted and broke.i then called the isuzu dealership and filed a complaint and they said that no other vehicles had been reported of doing this and that it was not under warranty and that the structure and frame only had a 5 year warranty.

I was turning into a parking lot, driving at 30 mph. I then felt the passenger rear wheel rubbing in wheel well, i disregarded it. Then while driving home at 40 mph i felt the wheels pulling oddly. When i arrived home i looked under the car and saw the frame was totally rusted through and the rear axle support arm rusted off the frame. This made the axle free floating on the passenger rear side of the vehicle (unable to safely drive again).

I have already received a recall notice from isuzu for the recall on the suspension bracket being broken from the frame, and was told we would be having our cars purchased back at fair market value. Now that they have my vehicle they say they will offer me the cost of the repair as the vehicle will not be safe after the installation of the bracket they propose fixes the issue. This car almost killed me when the bracket became disconnected from the frame and now they say if i don't take the $1500 they are going to install the bracket and give my car back, although it will not be safely drivable. I bought this from a local garage for a fair price and had no indication of the failure i was about to encounter. My complaint is for the companies handling of the recall and manipulation of the words in the recall to say that all they are responsible for is the bracket when clearly the issue is far greater than that. I would like to talk to someone about the problem as i seem to have limited time to decide even though they were allowed 60 days i am not ! i think it is a great idea to buy these back but not forcing us to take half of the fair market value. My car was a daily driver registered and inspected everything in working order until the link separation. At that time i parked it on the side of my yard where it sat for 9 months until it was picked up by isuzu. I have over $2500 into it , not including my labor and felt a good 4x4 was atleast worth that. I am in no position to hire an attorney on my own and feel they are not treating people as they should. I have looked at several rodeos at dealer lots that are going to break the link, and found most of the frames are like mine, rotting from the inside out ! that needs to be the recall before someone dies. I think the issue with the frame needs to be covered by the recall as the sheetmetal floor just next to the rotted frame is good as new.... .please review the wording in this recall and the frames in question.

1999 isuzu rodeo.... Rear spring mounts and frame are rotted out, causing an unsafe vehicle to drive. Current recall for "forward mounting brackets for the left and right rear suspension lower link" does not address this problem. I think this problem needs to be addressed before someone gets seriously injured or even killed. I was informed by a mechanic that the vehicle would not pass inspection and is unsafe to drive on july 22, 2011.

Consumer states he received a recall and that there may be other rust problems that isuzu is not aware of.the consumer stated in the summer of 2009, the gas tank had to be replaced because of rusting on the top of the tank which was causing gas to leak out. In 2010, there was a rust through in the frame around the forwarding mounting points brackets on the driver and passenger side of the rear suspension lower links as described in the recall. The drivers side rear shock absorber bracket broke off the frame due to rusting out also. The driver side upper spring seat had rusted to the point that it bent up against the floor of the body.the drivers side frame over the rear axle housing had rusted through on both sides. On the inside, there was a hole 5 1/2 inches long and 1 1/2 inches at the widest point. On the outside, there were four different holes.

I own a 1999 isuzu rodeo which has a recall 10v436000, the rear suspention that hooks into the rear frame rusts out. Mine didn't do that, but my rear frame on the passenger side has rusted so bad that the body of the car isn't attached to the frame. The rodeo is to dangerous to drive and will not pass inspection and cannot be fixed.isuzu had my car picked up by a flat bed truck on 12/15/10 and taken to a service center. I asked them to rent me a suv as i work as a rural carrier for the postal service and i also go to 6 different offices in vermont to work, i explained that i was in danger of being fired, because i have to provide the vehicle for my job. The wouldn't rent a vehicle for me, they are now saying that what is wrong with my car is not part of the recall, they will howeverbuy back my car for less then what i owe. I have still had to make the payments and keep insurance on the rodeo. I spent $250. Last week for a suv to do the rural route. I have been borrowing cars from friends and bumming rides, i never know day to day how i'm going to get to work or how i am going to deliver mail.i cannot afford to just go buy another suv and make payments on two cars. Its been 5 weeks since they took my rodeo and it has been a hardship on me. We purchased this vehicle in 2000 from wright auto dealers, we were never notified or told about 1st recall, on 5/17 the bracket holding the frame broke, this vehicle was taken in for 2nd recall and we were told it was safe, only stage 2 a few months later after sitting in the garage the vehicle failed while on the road, we could have been killed. It has been almost a month, at first they said it could be fixed a week later they told us it was stage 5 and could not be fixed.the dealer also wright auto said they sent in forms and pictures to isuzu, still we have been without our suv for a month.something needs to be done, we purchased this suv in good faith that it was built right, we loved this vehicle and now we are left hanging with no word from anyone.we had to keep calling the dealer and would wait on hold for 10 to 15 minutes and still no one is taking responsibility for this defective vehicle.we need to replace this suv someone has to make isuzu make this right, this vehicle is a truck it should have lasted 10 more years, the body is perfect just like new, please someone has to help all the people who have been affected by a manufacturer not making this vehicle correctly.please someone help!

Took the car to a welding/frame specialist to have the problem fixed.he deemed the car unfixable because of excessive rust and corrosion. He said it would need an entire new frame to make it safe to drive. He looked until dec for an acceptable frame until he said, just take it to isuzu, i cant locate the parts needed. I had the car towed to isuzu on dec 29th for them to inform me i was past the recall warranty date. I explained my situation, and they didn't want to hear it.these junk frames are going to kill someone, the problem isn't just the rear mounting bracket.my entire frame is rotted through.in fact, in the 60 miles it took for my car to be towed from the repair shop to isuzu, my spare tire actually fell off my rodeo because of the corrosion. Thank heavens i wasn't driving it, it would have caused an accident.

I took my isuzu to a dealer last summer for a nationwide recall due to premature frame rusting. I was told there are several "categories" that they could put a vehicle into as far as the amount of rust was concerned. After an inspection, i was put into the worst category that involved fixing. Any further rust, i was told, means the vehicle would have been junked. They ended up replacing a few suspension parts and installing two large metal brackets to reinforce the frame. Ever since the work, the car has made strange "creaking" noises. I've crawled under the car several times and cannot identify the source of the noises. Last week, while driving, a large piece of the frame rusted through and fell off. Today, i took it to a local shop for a break noise (unrelated to the frame.) they called me a short time later and told me the frame was not safe to drive in their opinion. I called the isuzu dealer that did the warranty work. They said there is nothing further they can do as far as the warranty goes. I find it odd that they put a bandaid on a rusting frame only to have it get worse a year later and refuse to fix it.

I purchased this vehicle in october of 2010. The vehicle is currently financed at my bank. I took it to francis scott key in fredrick maryland for the recall of the forwarding mounting point bracket of the left and right rear suspension lower link for corrosion of this. On the 19th of august, 2011 i took it to have the safety recall done @ francis scott key told me they only done what the recall was for,exposure of highly corrosive material that is used in some jurisdictions for deicing prupose which affected the frowarding mounting point bracket for the left or right rear suspension lower link prior to the time that such corrosion would normally be expected. My vehicle has bad corrosion and rust on the front of the suspension and i know of others who have the same model and year of mine and have had the same trouble. I am like totaly confused as this should be taken care of also because i am believing this shouldnt be in this condition as this shouldnt have normally been in this condition for this year of car. I am taking care of this form due to the shape that the front of the vehicle is in , it is really bad up there. Have you had any other reports of this? i considered getting another vehicle but can not afford to do this as this vehicle is financed.i feel isuzu shoud be recalling this vehicle as they done the in the rear suspension and should be also taking care of the front also as this is very serious to the safety of me and others riding in my vehicle and also other drivers.i am surprised that isuzu hasnt done a recall for this problem as it is a really bad safety situation... The vehicle is experiencing what i consider to be excessive bounce when loaded with 4 passengers, leading to a possible control problem.usually it is only just me or two passengers in the car, and i noticed the problem for the first time when i had 4 passengers (no other luggage or items in car) on normal roads and on the highway.i have taken the vehicle to the dealer twice, and they have performed a complete inspection of the suspension, shocks, etc., and can find no problems.it appears to be either a design issue or possibly a problem with insufficient suspension for the vehicle.i had a 1994 rodeo and did not experience a similar problem, so there may have been a design or component change which has changed the ride.

Vehicle shimmies at 60+ mph, has continually pulled to the left. The tires have been balanced and the front end aligned numerous times. Problem still exists. Causes severe and uneven wear on tires. Humming noise occurs when vehicle driven in excess of 20+ minutes. Private mechanic stated it was the fuel pump. When taken to the dealer, several times, nothing was found.

Tremendous vibration throughout vehicle. This applies to both the rear and front suspension/brake components. Manufacturer/dealer and zone service rep was contacted. Isuzu failed to correct the problem stating and i quote "it is a truck and it is intended to ride like one". The whole body vibration was corrected after many attepmts, the problem was out of balance rear drums. After completion of balancing the rear drums the main body vibration was eliminated. Violent steering wheel shimmy was still present. After having checked shocks, tires, rims bearings etc the front rotor and hub assemblies were balanced as a pair, this eliminated the steering wheel shimmy. Since both the front and back components were balanced all the vibration has been eliminated. Tires have not been rebalanced in 14,000 miles, they have been rotated with no adverse affect. Many thousand of dollars were spent in isolating this problem, new tires, shocks, rear drums, front rotor and hubs, bearings, seals and the manufactur of precision balancing mandrels and balancing costs. Isuzu needs to recognize this problem and repair/ replace these components for others, mine is corrected. I see "many" posts of this vibration issue and am aware that many were lemon lawed for it. Isuzu has failed to service and correct the issue and has abandoned their customers on this issue.

While driving on wet pavement at 40-45 mph, i hydroplaned into a guradrail and then into oncoming traffic. Felt as if all of the sudden i lost all control of vehicle, and no corrective measures helped. Then earlier this month, 10-2001, while driving again on wet pavement, had same experience, but no wreck this time. I feel as though both instances were beyond my control and i am becoming increasingly concerned about the safety of the vehicle.

My 1999 isuzu rodeo was recalled for "suspension: rear", nhtsa campaign number 10v-436, mfg's report date september 22, 2010.on january 28, 2011 i brought the vehicle in for the recall inspection to cornerstone isuzu as directed by the recall notice.without consulting me first, they "fixed" the car by spraying a 24" portion of the rear frame with an anti-rust application.then the technician called me in to show me that the rest of the frame was rusted but that it was not part of the recall.in fact the "left rear spring mount" had totally rusted so the vehicle frame is literally sitting on the rear axle.not part of the recall though, so they sent me on my way. I'm shocked that they are allowed to limit the recall to a 24" portion of the frame and totally disregard that the frame has disintegrated in other areas, clearly a safety issue.

After receiving a recall notice at the end of jan 2010 i called the number and they told me my car was not on the recall list. A week later i was driving the car and felt my truck jump, a loud snap, and realize my shock flew across the road. I drove to a safe location and looked under vehicle and saw the other side shock was hanging. I had the car towed on a flat bed because it "was not safe to drive" according to the manufacturer. The dealership had car in the air on lift and informed this car should not have been sold and is unrepairable and damage was so extensive and all because of a safety recall on rear suspension.the corrosion was so terrible. I have a 1999 rodeo with only 16, 900 miles on the vehicle, when it comes to stopping the tires just slide on any weather condition.

Original equipment on 1999, isuzu rodeo with 9000 miles,yokohama geolander ht tires size 23575r15.all 4 tires have developed cracks on outside of edge andinside near the bead,which looked like tread separation. Also, like dry rot cracks.all 5 tires were replaced by sears.

Vehicle came equipped with a spare tire that had a slash inside the tire , which wasunnoticed by consumer until it was necessary to replace it with another spare, leaving consumer stranded.

The contact stated that the traction arm that connects to the frame on the rear drivers side of the vehicle became unattached from the frame causing the vehicle lose control at approximately 35 mph.the contact was able to gain control of the vehicle and drive onto the emergency lane. The vehicle was driven at a very slowly to local repair shop.the vehicle was not repaired.isuzu was not notified. The failureand current mileages were approximately 114,500.

Engine checklight comes on and stays on all day due to a faulty egr valve. Contacted dealer. Had egr valve replaced, but problem reoccurred.

I have a 99 isuzu rodeo ls which i purchased new from the dealer. Since day one it has been burning 1-2 quarts of oil evert 1000 miles. I contacted the dealer couple times and they said it is normal. Unacceptable. No vehicle should burn more oil than gas.

Vehicle seems to accelerate on it own, when in park the rpm would be at around 2 and in drive the vehicle would be able to go on its own up to 15 t0 20 mph, consumer took vehicle in to be service problem went away for about a 1 week but then it got even worse, consumer took vehicle to another dearlership and was advised that the wires were rusted so they were replaced and problem still exists where the vehicle will jump on its own and consumer has to break even harder to control vehicle.

Brakes don't work engine rev's vehicle lurches forward can't stop no matter how hard you press on brake pedal.

I have previousleycontacted you about my 1999 isuzu resulting in a crash that totalled my car.on 09/22/00 i was told by a mechanic whose name is jesse carter at campbells auto& body(817) 249-6662 where my car was taken to be inspected that the mechanic that checked out thecar said that the throttle was sticking.he has also told my insurance adjuster kyle@ texas state farmers ins. Co. (817) 831-6201this and the adjuster said that this car will be taken to iaa where the vehicle will be put on hold and go into subregation until further investigated.

I have a 1999 isuzu rodeo ls and on 9-18-00i started my car in my driveway as usual.as soon as i put my car in reverse the car accelerated immediately as if up to full throttle.it only moved backward a couple of feet before the acceleration began.i immediatley applied the brakes but it would not stop the car even though the brakes were working.but the acceleration was stronger and the car continued while brakes continuously being applied and sped as fast as it could backwards into a tree across the street approximately 50 feet. It impacted the tree at a hard force and bounced off and i still had been applying the brakes while trying to get the car into park and trying to turn off the ignition but the airbags went off after hitting the tree and was blocking my view of the ignition.the emergency brake was pulled at this time and hoping the car would stop but the car went into a forward motion and was fully accelerated as it was in reverse.the car proceeded back across the street toward my home and struck a brick wall with great force.the air bags had already deflated.running into the house stopped the car from going further but the car was still accelerated at full throttle.since it wasn't moving and the air bag was defleted i had a chance to pull the key s out of the ignition, therefore i could stop it. My question is why did the car accelerate at full throttle while i had my foot on the brake and why didn't the car stop at all with the brakes applied?and why did the car not stop after striking the tree at such a great impact?and why did it continue accelerating when it changed to a forward gear? was there something with the accelerator or the throttle or maybe something to do with the cruise control or transmission?my house is damaged in the garage and the front living room.my car has been totalled and i have asked for a mechanicto see if a defect could be found and don't want this won't happen again and end in tragedy.

I purchases a 1999isuzu rodeo lse used in january of 2004. While sitting at a traffic light three dfferent times in february the engine suddenly raced.the rpm's on the tackometer jumped to 6000 and it took both feet standing on the brakes to keep the car from surging forward. Slipping the car into neutral did not help asthe back wheels spun and smoked.killing the ignition was the only thing to stop it.i also had it suddenly surge as i was heading into a parking space. The vehicle jumped the parking bumber and nearly crashed into the building, again i was able to kill the ignition before any serious damage was done. Browns isuzu in fairfax virginia examined the problem and worked on the throttle body. The problem went away for a few weeks but has started again, twice nearly causing me to slam into a car in front of me at a traffic light. I now leave at least four to five feet as there is no notice that the vehicle will do this. I am returning to the isuzu dealerthis week but they hold little hope in finding the problem as it does not occur with any certainty. In looking at your website and talking to some other isuzu owners this is a common problem. I have not contacted isuzu yet but those who i have spoken to that have, they have been told isuzu never heard of this problem. I would hope that they are contacted after a complaint is filed with you, this is a very dangerous defect. I know if i have a serious accident i will certainly pursue every legal means to resolve this. If nhtsa has any investigating powers they should pursue this before some one dies tragically.

No matter what speed/ under wet or dry conditions while pressing on brakes and hitting abump, car will accelerate.consumer feels that the bumps set off the acceleration, and feels unsafe driving.

Vehicle revved very high.in park the engine revved up to 2,000 rpms.consumer had to increase stopping distance because vehicle was very hard to stop.vehicle downshifted hard and accelerated as fast as 60mph without putting foot on throttle.

Complaint received via e-mail. I was involved in a crash that was caused by a malfunction within a vehicle that i was driving.i had come to a stop, pulling into a parking space between two vehicles, when suddenly the engine surged, the whole time i was fighting the acceleration with the brakes, but they just made a noise similar to whenlocking abs brakes on ice. The vehicle struck a brick pillar that collapsed on top of the vehicle ,almost killing me ,and injuring my lower/middle back in the process.

Vehicle idles very fast, stalls at slow speeds, then check engine light comes on. Vehicle has stalled at least 10 times, dealer has reprogrammed pcm. Did not remedy problem.jg

The rodeo has been in the shop four times for erratic idle. At times, the idle will increase greatly causing me to apply more pressure on the brakes.at times, while at speed, when i take my foot of the gas, the idle remains at that speed for 3-4 seconds.

Acceleration/surging.the vehicle will accelerate on its own.it has been worked on three times by isuzu.it is now doing it again for the 4th time.it will speed up going around curves without touching the gas. It will get up to speeds of 15 mph (or higher) after taking it out of park and putting it in drive without touching the gas. It will surge while sitting at a light etc.you can feel it lunge forward. It surges while driving you can feel it speed up, slow down, speed up, slow down. And you have not pressed the gas pedal or let off of it. The rpm gauge will show this happening.the men that have worked on it has seen the problem happening.it is a safety hazard, an accident waiting to happen.

While applying the brakes the vehicle accelerated forward, causing a minor collision. Dealership and manufacturer will be notified, the braking system failed to act properly, while applying brakes hard, the vehicle continued to glide forward.

Rear defroster failed.

Fuel gauge failure, locked cd changer, rear wiper defect, passenger seat belt defect.

The gas gauge does not work any more and the rear wiper also stopped working.both seem to be common problems with the 1999 isuzu rodeo ls.

Rear wiper shorted and rear wiper washer blew a fuse.

Windshield leaks water into the passenger side.the dealer stated windshield was sealed incorrectly.*scc

Serious safety issue with 1999 isuzu rodeo's windshield wipers sometimes stop during use.this is due to a known circuit board problem in other isuzu trucks like the hombre.the hombre has been recalled but not the rodeo. Why?

Windshield wipers quit working when engaged. This reduced the driver's visibility. Consumer has to turn the switch on and off to restart the windshieldwipers.

My complaint is similar to odi id #10020690. The front wipers will neither park nor operate in the intermittant mode. The parts counter employee at mcinzey bond isuzu in houston stated that they replace and sell a bunch of the combination alarm/wiper control modules for this reason. This wiper defect is evidently historic and recuring in a large number of isuzu rodeos. These modules are $212 each plus labor. The manufacturer needs to be held responsible.

I own a 1999 isuzu rodeo ls, 6cyl, auto vehicle with 24,000 miles on it. Recently my intermittent windshield wiper function stopped working completely and when engaging wipers at full capacity upon turning them off the wipers will stop in the middle of the windshield. This is a safety issue i had my dealer russel mazda troubleshoot; they identified the problem as a "short" in an alarm control relay but didn't indicate what was causingthe short- i suspect my wipers are no longer reliable and could go out at any time which could have fatal consequences in a bad rainstorm. My vehicle went out of warranty in september of 2002 and the dealer quoted $306 to replace the malfunctioning relay; i discussed the matter with the isuzu corporate personnel and with the local dealer who in turn contacted the isuzu area rep who said it's out of warrant and he couldn't provide any assistance. I've had several other recalls on my isuzu and feel this could be a manufacturing defect that might ultimatelyimpact other vehicles and result in accidents,i.e., this wiperrelay shortproblem might be a potential candidate for a safety recall.

1999 isuzu rodeo right rear wheel came off. The consumer lost control of the vehicle striking a guard rail end, striking the ditch in the median and subsequently the vehicle rolled over.
