My 4 month old son has come out of the belts and close to coming out of the seat while the vechicle was in motion. Thankyou.

On july 10, 1999, my family and i were comming home from riverside park and on the way back home at 12:00am, all the lights on my car started to go on and off , the engine started to make a waired noise and smell like if something was burning.at this point the car got very hard to hand, i am only 23 years old and had my 4 month old son in the car.this could have caused a serious accent in the highway.at this time i don't know what the car has because the dealer has not been to helpful at all.this car is a lease and i called off road assistance at the time of the problem and they were not nice people.they told me i would have to wait about 45 minutes to 1 hour for anybody to tow my car and with my 4 month old son, i was not able to wait that long.the all the clerk said to me was "oh well" and just hung up and never sent nobody to help me out with the car.at this time my car is at the state police.i will be called the dealer and hopeful they will be able to tell me what is the actual problem with the car.the second problem is the roders on the car make a loud noise when i reverse. This issue has been repaired few times and it keeps happening again.all they would say is that all trucks have this same problem.they say it is due to rust underneath the car.i am very upset with all the issue on this car.if these car have an issue i think they should be recalled because they can cause a serious accident.

Our problem is with american isuzu motors and not with the russ darrow organization.we purchased this vehicle in november of 1999.in february of 2000, the engine made a noticeable ticking sound.we had taken the vehicle back to the dealership where purchased and they couldn't identify the problem.in march of 2000, isuzu had sent out a bulletin to its dealerships regarding this problem. We, as the consumer, were not aware of this bulletin until july of 2000, when our vehicle was again serviced for the same ticking sound.we were then informed that the ticking sound was coming from one or more of the lash adjusters do to varnish build up. Isuzu claims that the condition results from exceeding the required oil change and filter, which in the owners manual states every 7500 miles or 12 months which ever comes first.it also states that it should be changed every 3750 miles under "severe driving conditions".first they recommended a oil changeof ow-30 synthetic oil, which is suppose to basically flush out the hydraulic lash adjusters and remove the varnish that is preventing the hydraulic lash adjuster piston travel.this was done at our expense.we were informed to drive the vehicle for several days, and if the ticking persisted, return the vehicle for further servicing which all would be covered under the powertrain warranty.the vehicle was return to the dealership in july of 2000 for further diagnostic work.at this time we were informed that i and my husband would be responsible financially for all labor costs involved in tearing down the engine. The dealer informed us that isuzu would only cover broken parts and would not pay for any other services.at this point, i walked out of the dealership.our problem is, only some of the 1997 rodeos are involved with this problem.also, how could isuzu only make a engine that would carry a regular weight oil and then all of a sudden have to change to a synthetic oil??$840.00 repair.
Defective vacuum hose in emission control system failed.
The flex pipe on the 1999 isuzu rodeo developed a leak.*mrthe flex pipe is a part of the vehicle's catalytic converter which is covered by an 8 year80000 mile federal emission warranty.since the flex pipe is not sold separately the consumer believes it should be covered under the catalytic converter warranty.

The frame of my 1997 isuzu rodeo has rusted so badly that it has broken in half. I can pull chunks out of the frame with my bare hands.needless to say, i can no longer drive it.
Accelerated chassis trailing arm rust underneath the auto.
1997 isuzu rodeo frame is rusting.there are several places where it has rusted completely through.it has not failed yet, but looks like it is flexing badly in these spots.
Bad frame rot on my 1997 isuzurodeo was changing out my u-joints and inspecting the vehicle when i notices several spots where the frame was rusted through. I began cleaning the frame and some spots disintegrated when i hit them with a wire wheel. Welded any cracks i found filled in smaller holes and welded plates and supports into the bad spots. At first i thought this was a one off incident but after a quick search online it seems fairly common.
The contact owns a 1997 isuzu rodeo. The contact stated the vehicle was taken to a local repair facility to have the exhaust pipe replaced when the contact was advised by the mechanic that the frame and sub frame were excessively corroded. The mechanic advised the contact not to drive the vehicle because the sub frame could fail at any time. The manufacturer was also contacted but would not assist with the repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 136,000.
1997 isuzu rodeo - informed by auto mechanic that vehicle frame is extremely rusted out and vehicle is no longer safe to operate.passenger side front body mount pushed through rusted frame so the passenger side of vehicle now rests on the frame no longer securing the vehicle body to the frame at that mounting location.the passenger side of the vehicle is about a half inch lower than the driver side as the body mount pushed through the rusted frame.frame has extensive, premature heavy rust and is rusted through in a number of locations.
I have a '97 isuzu rodeo. I have kept it in good shape. The frame of the car has corroded to the point where the frame has broken. I am so glad this was discovered by my technician. If this had fully come apart on the road it could have caused a serious accident. I am sure ours is not the only rodeo to have this problem. These things are timebombs on the road! something should be done to compensate owners of these cars. The frame of the car should not just come apart!this will kill people on the roads.

Frame rusting away from underneath our 1997 isuzu rodeo. Filed a complaint over a year ago with nhtsa including pictures, pieces of the metal from the frame and documents to be included for the recall on rodeo's and passports. (my odi #10299607) as you will see the informationwas taken down incorrectly an states a fuel pump problem. That is how we found out the frame was bad is when we took it in for repair. There are many isuzu and passport owners who have this problem and they are unsafe to drive because the frames are rotting out and cause components to let go from the frame which could cause and accident. There has been a recall to try to fix the lower brackets but most are not fixable because the frames are so gone. We were not included in this recall because isuzu at their discretion only choose a five year period from 1998-2002. We should be included as well as others because they are just trying to limit their exposure and keep cost down while in the meantime someone could get hurt. The recall should go back to the manufacturer of the frames which someone on the blog found out it has been determine to be the dana corp. Who also made the bad frame on toyota ticumsa. The recall need to be from manufacture date of the frames made for all isuzu and passports. This recall is not being handle correctly and someone is going to be in a serious accident.
My vehicle is 1997 and it is same issue with 10v-436 recall notice.i am wondering why my vehicle is not included in this recall as i see the same issue with mine. There were 2 other complaints about the same issue.
The contact owns a 1997 isuzu rodeo. While being inspected by an independent mechanic, the technician found that there was extensive rust and corrosion on the underbody and the brake lines. The mechanic stated that the vehicle was not safe to drive due to the components being full of rust and the risk of fracturing at any time. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.
I have a 1997 isuzu rodeo which i have owned for the past 10 years and want to sell it. It is physically and mechanically in excellent condition except for the exceptional amount of rust to the frame and undercarriage. Unbeknownst to me, isuzu had a recall on many of these vehicles which i was not aware of, even though i had bought this used vehicle from an isuzu dealer. Upon contacting the dealer and asking why i was not notified of the recall, he said all vehicles were not subject to the recall. Upon looking up my vin, he said my vehicle was not recalled!!! i do not understand why as, after researching this online, my vehicle has all the same symptoms of the vehicles that were recalled and i am afraid it may be unsafe to sell!. I realize the recall ended in december and isuzu is no longer in business but i feel i should have been notified of the recall and given the option to choose whether or not to take advantage of the recall offer.is there any resolution to this or will i be stuck with a vehicle i am afraid to sell?
Went to goget inspected was told it would not pass frame rotted in 2 spots on right side of car also not sure if the year is right or not.

I am filing this for my 1997 isuzu rodeo that may had a recall.
While traveling engine indication light would stay on. Please provide further information.
Under frame has rusted and corroded so badly we are being advised not to drive this vehicle anymore.
Engine light continues to come on.
Both the drivers and passengeers automatic windows have broken.the middle console is broken.the hooks for the back seat do not latch the seat and the seat flies forward during braking (a distracting hazzard).the engine makes a ticking noise.the engine seems to get too hot.the engine seems to smell of oil even after short trips.the belts make loud noise when the vehicle is just starting - i just had the vehicle in the station and the service man said he did not find anything wrong with the vehicle.
Vehicle experienced sudden acceleration on several occasions, causing collision.
While backing out of parking lot, engine started racing and vehicle made a loud popping noise and went full throttle forward over sidewalk , hit aparked vehicle and pushed vehicle (2) feet sideways.driver had to put vehicle in park and remove key to stop vehicle. Waiting for insurance agency to look at vehicle.
My son was taking me to o'hare airport on 12/21/00. Rodeo suddently began to accelerate on its own.the brakes would not respond.the suv was in 4 wheel drive at the time and we could not disengate it.for aharrowing 6 miles, he pumped the brakes until it slowed but we could not stop it.due to it being 6:30 am and a lot of good luck we did not hit anything.finally when the car had slowed we put it in neutral and regained control.the smell from the brakes by that time were overwhelming.the car dealer informed us that the throttle cable had come undone.they deemed it an "adjustment and charged us to reattach it.they refuse to accept responsiblity for the damage to the brakes sustained in our attempt to save our lives.i want to alert you to the mechanical defect in this car and hope that no one has lost life or limb yet.please investigate this and let me know if there have been other incidents.they will not give me customer satisfaction at the customer relations board for isuzu.i can no longer drive this car on a highway due to my lack of confidence in the vehicle.
Engine idles at 2,000 rpms.
I started the car and noticed the engine was surging. I thought if i put the car in reverse, i could quell the engine. The car bolted in reverse out of my garage, across the back alley, down a drainage ditch embankment behind by house and up the other side. I ended up in the field behind my house. I was able to get out of the car and turn off the ignition when the car slowed in the muddy field.
Engine revs to 3250 rpm and is uncontrollable.that means the thing in 5th gear races to about 80 mph!engine would not idel down regardless of inputs by driver.very dangerious.happened intermittanly until wiring connection failed, at which time dealer was able to clean connection.took 5 months and many trips to the dealer for cause to be identified.doubt if other than rountine diagnostic was attempted as dealer was unable to "recreate" the event until engine was 3250 rpm fulltime .i feel this is a very unsafe contition and should cause action by mfg.
Vehicle experienced sudden acceleration causing a collision .
Engine suddenly idles between 1,500 to 2,500 rpm.problems seems to only happen during winter months--for the last two years.took vehicle to isuzu dealer in tucson, az.dealer kept the car for about a week, was able to "duplicate" the problem, but they could not determine the cause.his is a safety concern because the engine "races" at stop lights, stop signs, etc. And is hard to handle. Waiting for traffic accident to happen....maybe this year.
Driver made a left hand turn into a driveway, accelerator stuck; driver applied brakes and the brakes shifted into neutral; vehicle did not stop until it struck the front of a house.
While makinga turnbrakes were applied.the truck suddenly started to rev andaccelerated, causing the driver to lose control and flipped overon flat pavement.

I own a 1997 isuzu rodeo. The vehicle was parked in my private driveway on the night of october 26, 2003. I exited the vehicle closing my front driver's side door when unexpectedly the entire back windshield shattered for no reason. The glass was not fractured or broken prior to the incident, nor did any object hit the windshield it just shattered.the windshield, which is not covered by insurance and isuzu felt was not their problem cost me $527 to replace.quite a set back for an independent college student.i have had many other problems with the vehicle, which isuzu will not take responsibility most including the windshield were safety hazards and had someone been a passenger in the back of vehicle they would have been injured.please help i don't know what to do with this vehicle.*la

While having tires rotated, the lugs: nuts broke. Had the hub replaced. Rear axle wore hole in hub. Front was making noise.
Wheel studs came loose while driving approximately 15 mph.heard a thumping noise when it happened.stopped vehicle & checked right front wheel & two studs were sheared off & the other two were loose.had to have entire hub replaced.
While replacinga flat tire one of the aluminum lugs nuts broke. Previous to this incident two lugs nutsbroke. Dealer notified.
When ever the lugs: nuts are removed for normal tire inspections, rotations, they either strip or break off.
While having tires rotated, the lugs: nuts broke. Had the hub replaced. Rear axle wore hole in hub. Front was making noise.
While changing out a flat tire, the lugs: nuts stripped the bolts which fasten to it.this is not the first time this problem has occurred.even with regular maintenance of tire rotation and balancing, the service facilities strip the lugnuts. Isuzu dealership indicates it is the service facilities torquing off the lugnuts at maximum psi, however, all facilities indicate very poor quality in metal of lugs: nuts.
The consumer noticed that the lugs:nuts/bolts broke while servicing the tires.the lugs:nuts:bolts were replaced numerous times.the consumer would be contacting the dealer in the near future.*sc

Took car in for maintenance and brake check...isuzu certified tech wouldnot remove tires as studs would break.brakes now squealing and now afraid that more studs will break.contacted isuzu 1-800 and was told it was due to incorrect torque from other repairs told by garage it was due to excessive heat which fused the two together common defect on 97 rodeos.
As of my last tire rotation, my tire supplier has refused to work on the car due to the failure rate of the threads on the lugs and the resultant failure of lug nuts and the lugs as well. The supplier initially took responsibility for the failures and---replacing several lugs and lug nuts. However, i am now being deprived of my free tire rotations under the tire purchase agreement due to the obviously defective lugs. This failure is no doubt under reported and is a safety hazard as well because several of the stressed and damaged lugs have snapped off while car was being driven.
Wheel lugs: nuts keep breaking and snapping off. Dealer keeps replacing nuts, but eventually they will break off also.cause is unknown.
While driving a loud noise was heard from the passenger side. Consumer pulled over, andnoticed that the passenger side tire blew out.consumer called for roadside assistance.consumer could not change the tire becauselugs/nuts/bolts were on tightly. Consumertried again anddriver sidelugs/nutssheared off.consumer had the vehicle towed to the dealer for inspection, andmechanic determined that the lugs/nuts were on back order.consumer informed the mechanic that thisis was thesecond set of lugs/nutsthat were replaced.the vehicle's lug nuts have also broken during routine tire rotation.
The engine overheated with only 53,000 miles of very easy driving and regular maintenance.needs major repairs and have replaced lug nuts every time tires are rotated etc.
Whell studs came lose during rotine tire rotation & nut broke off had to replace hub also
When rotating tires, lug nuts stick, bolts broke easily.while attempting to remove lug nuts-hub damaged-needed replacement.
When having brakes/tires servicedlugs: nuts cracked and broke off. Dealer has been notified, and has replaced lugs: nuts several times; however, this hasnot remedied the problem.
