I have a 2002 isuzu axiom with 84,000 miles. The transmission is slipping. Apparently this is a defect that many, many owners are experiencing or have experienced. This defect needs to be recalled and fixed by the manufacturer not to mention other issues with the power windows, check engine lights, starter failing to start right away

Every since i bought the suv it has been losing oil constantly there is no leaks and the dealer wants me to do numerous test that i have to pay for but this still not be able to tell me the problem. It also like others slips when raining outside and even worse when its snowing. Another reoccurrence is its accelerates to much when i press the gas it turned the corner and it accelerated nearly causing the vehicle to flip over. Now my check engine came on and a foul odor came out of no where im going to take it to the dealer tomorrow.

This vehicle "looks" great. However, the tires are like ice skates on the slightest of wet roads. The car jumps to the side over any bump with sport ride engaged, and the whole car "bobbles?" with it off. The transmission did the slipping between 2nd and 3rd gear like others have said, resulting in having no vehicle for nearly a month while waiting for a transmission from france. "isuzu" has no loaner car policy, so pay for a broken car, and have a nice walk. We purchased the car from courtesy isuzu in brandon florida. The people there were nice. We later moved to st petersburg, where we have had nothing but grief at bert smith isuzu on us19. They were so lacking in care and concern over my wife daughter and i vehicle-less for a month, that when we finally got the car back, we refused to even bring the car there for our "free" oil changes. I'd rather pay $20 somewhere else than to deal with this dealership. Now the last straw... The other day the engine starts making a loud tapping noise as i'm travelling down the highway. I immediately got off the very next exit and coasted to a gas station. I bought a quart of oil and waited for the engine to cool a bit. I added the oil, started the engine, and no more sound. I drove home. 4th of july weekend, i hoped to limp through until tuesday the 5th. Monday i drove my wife to her job about 5 miles away, and half way back, the sound returned louder than ever. I carefully drove the car the rest of the way home, and called aaa the next morning. Now my engine needs to be replaced, and because i didn't take my car to them for the oil changes, they are refusing to cover the engine without me showing them receipts i didn't know i needed to keep. My engine is dead, and they won't cover it. ?!?! the car is still well within coverage. With a year and a half left to go, what am i going to do?

I have a 2002 isuzu axiom with 84,000 miles. The transmission is slipping. Apparently this is a defect that many, many owners are experiencing or have experienced. This defect needs to be recalled and fixed by the manufacturer. The second issue is the buttons on the radio/heating and cooling unit falls out. This too needs to be recalled and fixed by the manufacturer.

While driving to work i noticed that my gas needle was low which i deemed funny because i had just fulled the suv the morning before, i then when to the station to get gas just to check and i only got $6.00 dollars in the tank and also the computer said that i was 56 miles from empty. The front end shakes at highway speeds, the air conditioner stopped working, sparks come from it when you turn it on, the blower fan just stopped working, the brakes make a loud sound upon being applied, the outside temperture indicator does not work anymore.

Air conditioning - at approx. 31,000 miles on my isuzu axiom the air conditioner began making a loud noise and would not cool at idle.i took the vehicle into the dealership and they stated that the air compressor had gone out and needed replacement.they were happy to replace the air compressor and other components they claimed needed to be replaced due to the air compressor being replaced (i.e. Dryer, etc.) for a mere $1,600.00.i was not happy since the vehicle had low mileage and i have never had a vehicle that had the a/c fail at such a low mileage.the dealership contacted the local isuzu rep and they refused to replace the compressor at no cost.i felt that since the car was so new and had such low mileage that they would stand behind their product.not!!!the local isuzu rep even wanted me to provide service records (oil changes, etc.) on the vehicle so they could be sure i was maintaining the vehicle as i should.i asked what that has to do with the air conditioner.they really had no response. I went to the dealer to pick up my car to take to another repair shop for another opinion and as i was picking up the car i wrote on the windows with shoe polish right in front of the service bay.i wrote "isuzu do not buy one!"the service manager of the dealership was standing out there and saw me.i again expressed how mad i was with isuzu's sorry product and the service manager asked me to come into his office.he called the local isuzu rep and spoke with him briefly and then isuzu decided they would only charge me $635.00 for the a/c work.i was still not happy but had the work done anyway.isuzu does not stand behind their products and the warranty is a joke!i feel that isuzu should refund me what i paid for the a/c work since it was obviously a defective part in my vehicle.

The current mileage was approximately 102,000.the failure mileage was approximately 90,000.

3 months ago my fuel sender went bad on my 2002 isuzu axiom. It can not tell the correct fuel level. I went to alldata website to review if there were any recalls for this and there was one for fuel pumps (sb05-02-s002).the bulletin described how silicon-contaminated fuel in texas and isuzu was suppose to replace all fuelpumps whether they needed it or not at no charge to us. You see, the fuel sender is attached to the fuel pump assembly. According sb05-02-s002, this fuel pump problem is potentially a source of fire due to a fuel pump leak.i contacted the dealer and national isuzu headquarters and they both told me based on the vin # of my vehicle,i did not need my fuel pump replaced.i do not feel safe with thisand that is why i am contacting you for help.

1. 8,000 miles to current brakes intermittently fail when traveling at 30+ mph. When the brakes are depressed the vehicle lunges forward. 2. Passenger side seat belt intermittently only allows retraction regardless of the brakes are depressed or not.3. 46,539 miles fuel gauge shows 1/2 tank onboard computer shows low fuel and fuel light illuminates.dealer replaced fuel pump assembly.problem corrected. 4. 57321 miles intermittent sluggish acceleration (intermittent since 20,000 miles) combined with intermittent incorrect timing shift from 2nd to 3rd gear.dealer reluctantly replaced piston seal cover under drive train warranty. 2nd opinion private mechanic verified the leaking seal.problem has worsened remains unresolved as of 10/2/04. Friend purchased same make and model within 2 weeks of my purchase both from robbins isuzu, humble texas and has had the exact same problems only her braking problem resulted in an accident.isuzu dealership refuses to acknowledge any problems.

The contact owns a 2002 isuzu axiom. While driving at an unknown speed, the brakes failed to respond when the brake pedal was depressed. The contact had to pull the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the fuel pump, sensor, and brake line needed to be repaired. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 102,001.

When the vehicle was started, the gas gauge would go pass empty and caused the engine light to appear, when going over bumps the vehicle would swing out (almost lost control), when the speed goes up to 60 mph the front end vibrates, and when a right turn was made, a cracking noise was heard.the dealer could not duplicate.*mrscc

Key gets stuck in the ignition. I was able to wiggle it loose for several months ... But it got progressively worse ... Thus i now have to leave the key in the ignition. Talked to isuzu dealer and they said to fix it if it was only the shifter that became misaligned would cost $100 or worse case it could cost as much as $500.

While in the mall parking lot consumer went to lockdoor with the remote control and heard another door lock. Then, another vehicle's door lockwent off.each consumer was able to lock the door, and unlock the door with the keys as well as with the remote control. Manufacturer stated there was nothing that could be done.

My2002 isuzu axiom has 47,000 gentle miles on it and the transmission began to slip. Within a week of that starting it completely stopped shifting out of 1st gear. This is a commonly reported issue and from what my mechanic has said 'it's just a poor piece of equipment. '

My transmission is also given me alot of problems just like others ive spoken with, i bought this vehicle expecting 2 put some money in it but not countinusly for the same minor problems the suv also goes dead at red lights & stop signs why they cant quiet tell & it uses brakes likes crazysoi was told by the men @ the shop to write so thats what i did hoping it will help anybody else in this situation!

My 2002 isuzu axiom transmission started slipping within a week i was at a stop sign i went to take off and my car wouldn't drive it went in reverse but not forward if i hit 'winter mode' it will bypass first gear and drive in second and third but not in first.... Once i come to a stop it comes out of winter mode and then i have to shut the car off and restart it and put it in winter mode all over again..... This transmission needs to be recalled and fixed free of charge......this is a common issue with this transmission.. It's not fair to customers who have this suv and these common issues happen and where now responsible for fixing it... Not fair my suv is now just sitting in my driveway they don't make these transmissions or parts for them i've gone to advanced i've looked online it will cost thousands of dollars for a new transmission plus laboror the simple fix is a solenoid but guess what you cant find the part.... We should not be held responsible please help us fix our suv i love my suv and miss driving it help us!!!!!!i need my car to work and i've been out of work bc i have no vehicle please help... Sincerely, a single mom.

I recently bought a used 2002 isuzu axiom (january 2010) and the transmission has already gone out.i was riding down the road and it just went out.i am the second owner for this automobile and i don't understand why the transmission is already gone.from doing my research i am not the only one having this problem there are hundreds of others.

I bought my car in july 2004 the transmission kept slipping and i took it into the dealer at least 3 times finally in nov. 2004 they kept the car and they told me it was the mode switch we paid $400.00 to have that fixed we got the car back and as we were driving home we had the same problem happen.so we took it back and they told me that the transmission needed to be serviced so we forked out another $100.00 to have the transmission serviced.that didn't work.they told us they would reimburse the $400.00 for the mode switch well we still have not received the money back yet. So once again i returned the car to the dealer and this time they replaced the transmission.that took 3 weeks!i finally got my car back and 1 month later i had it back in the shop for the front differential had gonebad and they are replacing it.another 3 weeks.the first week they did not even have a loaner car for me so i had to find a ride.i have not received my car back yet and i'm not really sure about rather it will be fixed or not.my brakes also vibrate when we push on them to stop.they say there is nothing wrong with them.but reading all the complaints, i wonder.now i'm concerned for my safety and for my families safety.i really like it but it does not have a very good record for having only 6 months and it has been in the shop 2 of those months.

Isuzu axiom 2002 2wd with 141000 miles. With 115000 miles in 2007 all of the sudden transmission failed and left me in the middle of the torrential rain with my wife and infant. We couldn't navigate car to the safety and we were in the middle lane when that happened. It was a very scary moment. I had to replace transmission. I had installed new transmission as i didn't want to experience anything similar. Now it failed again. There is something very suspicious about this transmission in these vehicles. I think somebody needs to address these issues.

2002 isuzu axiom transmission failure. When shifting from 1st to 2nd gear transmission gets stuck and cannot go faster than 20 mph. Axiom transmission are near impossible to find and when one is located it costs 3,000 to have installed.

First of all i've had my axiom for 3 years and its been in and out of the shop on a least 7 or 8 different occasions. The initial problem that i was experiencing was the continued failure of the a/c. Each and everytime there was a problem in which was fixed. Also doing these visits i would complain about a possible transmission problem which was always ignored and not resolved. Then a couple of weeks ago the transmission was slipping on a regular basis between 2nd & 3rd gear and there was a problem with fuel guage indicator. My truck was in the shop for over a week in which the fuel indicator was resolved and a seal was replaced for the transmission issue. I was told by the service technician that i needed to have the transmission service in which i did. Now its been 3 weeks since i've received my truck back and now the transmission is slipping between 3rd & 4th gear. I've researched other complaints and there seems to be an overall with the transmission. I'm nervous to drive this car with my family and someone needs to look into this

Driving my 2002 isuzu axiom normally to work. I parked in a downtown parking garage and was instructed to park on the 4th floor.my car had great difficulty climbing the ramps and finally stopped climbing at the 3rd floor. I left my car all day and drove home after work, taking all surface streets and avoiding hills.the next day i carefully drove to my mechanics shop and(then the check trans & check eng lights came on) was told the transmission needs replacing or rebuilding.i carefully drove to a transmission shop and am having the transmission rebuilt at an out of pocket expense of roughly $3,300.fortunately this all happened while i was driving, as it is normally the family car driven by wife. So basically the transmission suddenly failed without warning, there are no leaks or smoke or smell. And the warning light came on after it was too late. We did take our car to the dealer for its last trans service and had appointment to get a trans service 3 days after it failed!

I get my isuzu axiom 2002 in april of 2009 and now for the past few days everytime i put my car on drive it would make a loud noise and when i put it on park.everything has been done to my car but now the transmission feels like its always on neutral and other people with the same car tell me they have the same transmission problem what can i do to get this fix...

2002 isuzu axiom began having transmission leaking and slippingproblemsat 4, 0000 miles.contacted dealer as to history of these types of complaints, and they stated that they could not provide this information.also contacted isuzu, and they would not either, stating that i would have to contact nhtsa as this was considered internal information not to be released to the public.however, when doing a search on the internet i found numerous complaints of the same problem.in addition, have taken vehicle in for a brake job on two different occasions as i keep getting a shuddering feeling as if i am having brake failure.upon the independent mechanic reviewing the brakes wear, was advised twice that they do not need replacing as to the wear conditions.also have found repeated complaints on the internet over this same problem, however, once again dealer is not willing to admit problem or correct as to warranty!

I have a 2002 isuzu axiom. My transmission is having problems for the second time. The servo cover has came off and all the fluid is leaking out. There are several cases of people reporting transmissions problems and failures in this vehicle. It seems the entire transmission should be recalled. These are not cheap repairs. Thank you.

Transmission went out.all of a sudden wouldn't go into gear.has a little over 100,000 miles.haven't had fixed yet.having trouble finding a mechanic to work on it.apparently this is a common thing with this car.researched on-line and lots of posting same problem.one person suggested making a complaint so that maybe it would be recalled.

Car was repaired under isuzu's manufacturer warranty at vista isuzu for a minor transmission leak on 8/8/07. On this date i drove car from the repair shop and at approximately 40mph and about 1/2 mile from the repair shop the car lurched and the rear axel locked up sending the car in an uncontrolled right to left swerve. Surrounding cars around me were barley able to avoid hitting me. I took the car back to vista ford and later i contacted their repair shop manager and they were unable to verify the cause, and i was only told that all forward gears were shredded and that gear material was found in the transmission pan and that a high pressure pump within the transmission unit could have potentially cause the incident.

Transmission failure slips in and out of over drive.

Transmission failed on 2002 isuzu axiom with only 80k miles.

You can shift the transmission into gear without depressing the brake pedal while the key is in the acc position.

2002 isuzu axiom does not shift.have reported this numerous times to isuzu service provider as car still under warranty (not yet 120k).they keep adjusting it instead of replacing it.even after each dealer attempt to make adjustments, this vehicle, upon acceleration from a stop or near stop, strains when going into second gear, goes nowhere, then clunks loudly & lunges dramatically forward at a very rapid speed.it scares me but i have no other transportation.on my last family trip (4/8/10), i thought i was going to get killed as the car suddenly refused to shift and go uphill in dc on the interstate while in heavy high-speed traffic!!!i hope this suv does not kill my family and me.this vehicle is dangerous!!!

Friend purchased same make and model within 2 weeks of my purchase both from robbins isuzu, humble texas and has had the exact same problems only her braking problem resulted in an accident.isuzu dealership refuses to acknowledge any problems.

Extreme vibration while coming to a stop. Starts around 15-20 mph and continues as long as the brakes are depressed. Normally i hear (feel) it and pump the brakes to try and make it stop. Problem has occurred since we purchased new in 2001 and continues to happen today. I have had it checked by the dealership and other mechanics. It does not appear to affect the actual braking but i don't think it is normal. I have replaced the brake pads in the front. Did not help. Local dealership no longer sells/services isuzu.

When we bought the vehicle (same day) we noticed a vibration.a few days after the purchase, the dealer balanced the tires, and on the way home we noticed that the problem was not fixed. (09/04/02). We were not able to get back to the dealer immediately, but they were informed.on 9-19-02 it was brought back in and they replaced the right rear axle and axle bearing and replaced a tire and it was not fixed again.on 9-20-02, they replaced the driveshaft, and the problem was still there.the problem worsened, and was now involving the brakes.it was brought in on 10-11-02 and they found rear brake pads heavily glazed, drums warped and they claimed we may have drove w/the emergency brake on (its an automatic, and we did not).not long after that, the problem was back.we informed the same dealership and the isuzu rep told us that as for as he was concerned the vehicle was fixed and he will no longer try to fix this problem.this was ted russell isuzu dealership in knoxville, tn.a couple months later we moved to alpharetta, ga and the problem got extremely worse (brakes).we brought it to carl black isuzu.they were very friendly and concerned about the problem.again they found the rear axles were out of round, brakes out of round, and turned both rotors.this was found on feb. 27 2003 and was changed on march 18, 2003.the mileage on the vehicle at this time was around 12,000.my vehicle now has 18,000 miles and of course the problem has been back for a while, but this time the abs light is now on.we are going to see what happens now.my wife drives this vehicle along w/our 2 children.something needs to be done about this vehicle......*ph**consumer requests callback from odi investigator**

Car has 89,000 miles on it and had to get transmission rebuilt. Obviously a common complaint among owners. $2500 later and it still doesn't drive right.

The front passenger seat belt, once buckled, will only retract and becomes difficult to release.the dealer replaced the seat belt retractor twice, but the problem still exists.*sc

We were involved in an accident on i270 in st.louis, mo.a semi- truck doing approximately 35 mph struck us in the rear and forced us into the pick up truck in front of us.the air bags did not deploy, despite the square front to rear impact.the front passenger seat in my vehicle broke, twisting the passenger to the side, facing the steering wheel.

Was traveling 5mph & had applied the brakes, in the rain, which failed. Vehicle ran into back of school bus. Had severe front end damage.took to dealer for repairs. Dealer refuse to repair because of accident.had insurance adjustor come in and took vehicle for test drive. Declared nothing was wrong with brakes to cause accident. Ts

Consumer complained about a brake problem.when the brakes were applied, all four wheels locked up.

I was involved in a collision, where the gas pedal was stuck and the brakes did not function properly.there were not any road conditions that should have prevented this vehicle from standing still. I was at a stop sign and the vehicle took off hitting a another vehicle in the side body.i have called the dealer and isuzu and no one seems to be concerned about a brand new car crashing, malfunctioning injuring me and my grand daughter.the only response i got for isuzu, was inquiring about me purchasing a new car, when the salesman found out that i had gaap insurance and they would be paid off for the other car.no only am i furious about the isuzu customer service i still have one of these awful cars, the day after i purchased my isuzu axiom, my wife bought a brand new one too.i hope she lives to trade this vehicle in for something reliable.

I own a 2002 isuzu axiom as of april 2009 and i am having all type of problems such as:my gas meter is not working took it to a mechanic he fixed the gas tank and in about one month it stop working again, the abs light stays on,the ignition keep over turning as you turn on the vehicle, the truck leaks when it rains, the brakes locks and make me slide when stopping. The mechanic tried to fix all said problems and with in a months time the problem comes back.

While driving on uneven roads or snow and braking the car produces a grinding noise from the front of the car and the brakes do not fully work if at all. The car takes much longer to stop and in this situation if they are even working at all and may cause a car accident in the future from the car not being able to brake appropriately. I do not know how to correct this failure.

The contact owns a 2003 isuzu axiom.while depressing the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerates.the contact has to apply more pressure to the brake pedal in order for the vehicle to come to a complete stop.the vehicle was taken to a dealer once, but they could not duplicate the failure.the current mileage was 65,000 and failure mileage was 8,000. Updated 05/06/08.*ljthe consumer stated the failure happened when braking to a stop. As the consumer was about to stop, the engine revved. The consumer crashed into a parked vehicle. Brakes - while applying the brakes at high or low speeds there is a terrible vibration and grinding sound from the vehicle.it feels as if i am sliding on loose gravel and the vehicle does not stop properly.i have taken the vehicle to the dealership and they claim to be unable to duplicate the problem.i have asked about other complaints about this or if there has been a recall and the answer was no.i can say that i am not happy with the quality or performance of this isuzu product.

When the vehicle was stopped at several stop lights and in a parking lot with the brakes applied, the vehicle lunged forward and would not stop until i turned off the ignition switch. It almost caused 3 collisions. The vehicle was then towed to the dealer (courtesy isuzu) where we bought it. Frank thinks water has gotten into the anti-lock brake electrical board and caused this problem. This car has never been subjected to flood or other extreme exposure to water. If there is water in this circuit, the circuit was not protected adequately. The anti-lock brake warning light never showed a problem and according to frank, the computer diagnostics showed no defect codes. Frank experienced the same problem when he test drove this vehicle. Isuzu is trying to blame glazing of the brake pads and / or discs. Frank agrees with me that the problem is a severe safety issue.

Vibration and slow lose of breaking power. My axiom has been in the dealer 3 times this year ti fix a bad vibration while breaking. Twice they claim they cannot replicate the problem but once they admitted the rotors are warped. The vehicle continues to have the same problem even after the dealer "fixed" it. With the vibration is a slow lose of braking power and a softening of the pedal. At times the brakes fade and it requires pushing the pedal to the floor to get the car to stop. I am conserned that the vibrations will eventually cause the total lose of braking power.

I am driving this carfor the last two years now - but unfortunately i still do not have any confidence driving this car in a rainy weather. I already had three accidents in a rainy weather and the speeds while driving were as low as 5 mph.i think there is weight issue at the back end of the car. Driving in a rainy weather is like a nightmare. I checked with other three axiom owners and all of them had the same issue/concern. All teh other features are just perfect for me. When talked with the dealer they just could not believe it. For proving it to them i had to be a good vediographer and should be able to record the pattern in a parking lot or something.i need help on this and would strongly suggest to the other people to log-ina skidding complaint if they really face it as i want it to be a recall issue if al of them are facing it. Before i bought this car i already had 4 yrs of suv driving experience.

Also have loud creaking noise from underneath the front side of vehicle when turning left, right, or going over small bumps.problem fixed once out of 4 dealerships that were tried.noise went away after service tech tightened bolts connecting the cross bar/beam to the 2 long torque bars that run down the length of vehicle.after 1 month, problem came back, was fixed again, and then came back again.after 4 revolutions of this, problem persists today.vehicle's frame felt "tighter" when making turns during the period where problem was fixed as compared to when the noise was present.the longer the noise exists, the "looser" the frame feels, as well.additionally, a "tar-like substance" has been seeping out of all 4 doors since the summer of 2004.the isuzu dealership where i bought the car new from says that they are familiar with the problem from many other customers, the substance is used to secure a "vapor seal" inside each door panel, and isuzu will not warranty the cleaning or replacing of it.essentially exactly like tar itself, it melts when the vehicle is parked under direct sun.due to the large quantity, it becomes unavoidable when loading/unloading passengers or, in our case, small children in car seats.it has ruined the carpet, many of our clothes, and given us great heartburn.why won't isuzu warranty the cleaning and replacement of this faulty material?most all manufacturers have some type of vapor/water seal and you will not find tar leaking out of their vehicles.

Loss of steering, car went into ditches when brakes applied. Which ever front wheel grabbed when brakes were applied the suv went that direction. Then back on the road , across it and into a embankment and back onto the road. Finally rolling to a stop because the driver was afraid to re-apply the brakes. Driver injuries were to his knees, back and chest. The defective part was replaced and the damage to the suv was fixed by our insurance company with the ok of isuzu. Leaving the call of the part being defective to the insurance company.they are now fighting it.

The abs light continuously illuminated. The vehicle was taken to dealer and they dealer replaced the bearings and hubs.while traveling at normal speed, the driver hit a slight bump and the vehicle made a loud grinding noise and jumped forward. Description of all problems are as followed:abs sensor/hub bearing right side, abs grinding, cracked arm rest, door panel arm rest cracked, the abs light continuously stayed on, broken cargo cover hooks, left rear coil boot stuck, hub bearing right side, weather strip torn, exterior door trim chrome peeling, broken cargo cover holders, broken left rear coil boot stuck, torn weather strip, faulty hood lock would not open, knocking noise on the driver's side on right turns, the front windows were noisy at highway speeds, the rear bumperon the right side was loose, the steering wheel rubbed the column when turning, the remote didn't always open the driver door, the seat did not give the consumer enough leg room, the ash tray was not properly fit, the brakes would grab and vibrate when stopping and releasing, the front end was bumpy, when the consumer would turn the vehicle he felt he could lose control, at times the vehicle would display a fast start and on others times would be slugglish and would not take off, the transmission did not respond fast enough and the consumer would have to wait for passing gears to engage, the windshield would fog on the outside when the temperature was colder on the inside, the driver side spark plug boot closest to the drivers side was defective and did not come out with the coil, and the passenger seat handle would fall each time someone would attempt to get in the vehicle.the service dealer was not able to determine exactly where the knocking noise was coming from under the front end on right turns and suggested that isuzu should be responsible.the consumer stated that the purchase sticker displayed 55% usa/canada parts content.*sc

The contact owns a 2002 isuzu axiom. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 56,000.

Backed up into a pole at dunkin doughnuts- at less than 5mph , upon investigation found that the complete bumper assembly was rotted , there was no bumper rebar or very little of it left, this a safety hazard, it should also be expanded as part of the suspension recall on this vehiclesshould also include 02-04 axioms. I have gone to numerious salvage yards & called for a rear bumper assembly only to find out plastic covers o.k. But the rest rotted out. In my incident i took out bumper cover , rear hatch & glass , you would expect less damage at this slow speed. Thank god this was not hit from behind from another car. I would recomend an investigation or expansion of the current recall to include rear bumper assembly.

I am filing this complaint on behalf of myself and other fellow isuzu owners. On friday, june, 16th around 9:30am: i had my driver side rear traction control bar fall off my frame. This is the same issue mentioned here: nhtsa action number : ea09018. My vehicle was made in february of 2001 and purchased december of that year. Although it is 9 years old my frame should have not rusted as badly as it has. This is a major safety issue and i am out a vehicle because of isuzu's manufacturing issues. They conveniently left the us market and now i know why. Those of us who bought these flawed vehicles should be re-imbursed somehow.

Totally rusted frame and suspensions, failed state of maine inspection 7/27/10 , not drivable/ components falling off.2002 axiom isuzu.

Noticed a severe drag on my 2002 isuzu axiom when going down hill. I took into repair shop only to find out the frame was completely rusted out by the rear stabilize on drivers side. I guess the twist on rear axle was applying pull on the emergency brake cable causing the drag. Thank god it didn't break while my family was driving. Car has been garage kept and only has 72000 miles. ( we are the original owner's).

I was driving my 2002 isuzu axiom on a major roadway heading for a major highway, when it started veering and buckling from left to right.it felt like a flat tire.i was able to pull into a parking lot, when it totally stopped and i was unable to drive it.the tow truck driver looked underneath the vehicle and told me the whole underside was rusted out.when it arrived at my mechanic's garage, he also told me that the whole frame and trailing arm was rusted, and basically beyond repair.i got an estimate, which was close to $5,000.00.i still owe almost $2000.00, replaced the transmission a few months before, and need a vehicle.it had 120,000 miles on it when this happened.i notified isuzu, filed a claim (isuzu case # [xxx] ),but was basically told there was nothing they could do, as the rust was due to the salt on our roads in massachusetts.then i called the attorney general's office, who put me in touch with the south shore action committee, who basically try to mediate claims.it has been a few months and isuzu never answered their complaint.i am still waiting for some sort of compensation, as the vehicle should not have fallen apart due to rust and corrosion.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Failure of rear suspension lower link component drivers side from frame due to corrosion, caused vehicle to spin 180 degrees, in light traffic, no collision. Vehicle had to be towed, speed was 30-35mph, rain, cranberry highway rt 28 in wareham ma, vehicle is 2002 isuzu axiom, approx, 115,000 miles, i understand that there is an investigation on this problem. There appears to be more than normal amounts of corrosion on frame and components, vehicle is in for repair at towers service center,606 macarthur blvd, rt28 pocasset ma 02559 once this vehicle is inspected on a lift i expect there will be other issues to address. Also, this vehicle was due to travel to the state of ri at 60-65mph by my daughter to school at uri. I would hate to think what the outcome would have been at that speed these vehicles are prone to corrosion and should be carefully inspected, over the last few years the dealers are far and few between they no longer produce private vehicles just commercial trucks, one might ask why. Thank you, i shall get in touch with a dealer about this as it just happened today please chase this company down i'm sure i'm not the only person having problems like this again thank you for help.

Additionally, while at a stop the contact attempted to accelerate and the rear sub frame became detached from the vehicle. The contact discovered that the fuel tank case, the rear suspension, and the rear sub frame rusted and deterioration. The parts had detached causing the vehicle to be unable to be driven. I brought my car to the [xxx], which is the representative for isuzu in my area to have pictures taken, as a result of my frame being rotten and falling under the recall. On february 10th the first pictures were taken, we were asked to bring it back two additional times because isuzu said the pictures were not of quality, but the willy's service person showed them to us and stated himself that they couldn't understand what the problem was.after over three weeks, we've called and been able to get no information from our case worker, [xxx].we were told that we remained in our spot in the line of recalls, so can't understand why after 5 days of having comprehendible photos, no information can be given.parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

2002 isuzu axiom began rattling and shaking back and forth while i was on a major roadway.i heard a horrible sound, but was able to get into a parking lot. I had it towed, and was told by my mechanic that the whole frame has rusted and rotted out, along with the whole left trailing arm.he stated, "i've never seen anything like it, and you're lucky you weren't killed."i called isuzu, and the representative stated this rot and rust is caused by salt on our roadways in massachusetts!!

2002 isuzu axiom.driver's side "traction bar" (connects to rear axle) completely rusted off of the frame.upon further examination, the entire frame is severely rusted.the rest of the vehicle is in very good/good condition.luckily, the break happened while backing out of my driveway, so no one was hurt.if it happened at highway speeds, it would have been very bad.vehicle is unusable unless the entire frame is replaced.i had a mechanic/welder look at it, and he said there is "no way" he would try to repair it.there just isn't enough "good metal" to weld to.hopefully, insurance will pay for repair (which i doubt) or total the vehicle.it seems like this is a large problem for 2002 axioms.

I purchased a 2002 isuzu axiom in april 2010, had it checked by my personal mechanic on february 7th to be told that the frame was rotted out. We brought my car to capital lincoln mercury where we purchased the vehicle to be told there was a recall on it.then we brought it to have pictures taken at [xxx] on february 10th, who we were told is the isuzu representative in our area.we didn't hear back from either isuzu or willy's so then we contacted them and were told that the pictures were bad; this happened two other times and we've spoken to our case worker at isuzu on friday to be told that he couldn't tell us any information about the decision or my car whatsoever.[xxx] is our service department manager from [xxx] and [xxx]was our case worker from isuzu.we are very frustrated with the lack of help, as we have had to initiate every single contact with isuzu and their representative. I am also still without a vehicle, that i am unable to drive for safety reasons, with no aid from anyone, in respect to a loaner vehicle or any information.vin #- [xxx]make- isuzumodel- axiom year- 2002 mileage- 82,661 parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2002 isuzu axiom. The contact stated that the undercarriage of the vehicle had become rusted to the point where the chassis and differential made the vehicle undriveable. The vehicle was taken to a repair shop where the contact was advised to call the manufacturer. The contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage was 66,405.

During a non related service inspection, the mechanic at a local dealership pointed out that the frame of my 2002 isuzu axiom was corroded severely enough that he believed it to be a safety issue making the vehicle unsafe to drive. (and therefore would not recommend performing the originally requested service repairs).the frame has huge holes around the rear axle connecting rod, as well as long corrosion related splits in the frame in the area where it crosses over the rear axle assembly.as i now understand, this vehicle was designedutilizing the isuzu rodeo model frame, which has a history of the same problems. My car has a little over 109,000 miles, and is in very good condition otherwise...body, interior, etc.preliminary assessments indicate the needed repairs to the frame would be more than the vehicles value .i have taken pictures of some of the mentioned areas, and unfortunately agree with the dealership, that iam now stuck with acar with design deficiencies, making itunsafe to drive.

I have a 2002 isuzu axiommileage 101,000.. While driving i hit a pot hole - the family heard a weird sound. We pulled over and noticed the passenger rear control arm had broken away from the frame. I took the vehicle to a welding shop to have it repaired. The welding shop called me after putting the vehicle in the air that the frame was totally rotted away.. Some places of the frame you can put your hand thru the bottom and some places thru the top of the frame. There are other places that can not be repaired do to side rot of the frame.. The weld shop informed me the axiom can not be repaired and can not pass inspection. I looked on line and found the odi reports of similar problems - so here is my report. The rest of the axiom is perfect no rust on the body and engine runs perfect. At this time the vehicle has a insurance value of $6,700 per an insurance adjustor, but insurance wont cover it. So im out a vehicle thanks to a company using inferior metal for a frame. Thank god i wasn't driving fast and didn't have a serious accident that caused the life of a family member or someone else.

My mother owns a 2002 isuzu, axiom, she bought new in 2003.she went to get it inspected today and they told her the frame was rusted so bad they couldn't pass it.she only has 42,000 miles on this vehicle which is in excellent shape otherwise.the manufacturer is not standing behind this even though it is a safety hazard on the road.we are unsure whether we can get it fixed.what kind of recourse do we have?

While driving our 2002 isuzu axiom with only 76,000 miles. The drivers side rear axle bracket detached from the frame causing us to loose control of the vehicle. Fortunately, the vehicle came to rest without hitting anything. The vehicle was towed to a body shop where they produced an estimate of 7600. For repairs to the frame. The frame appears to have rusted from the inside & was not evident until it broke away.

I am the original owner of a 2002 isuzu axiom with 100,000 miles on it and it is still covered by a powertrain warranty.i am reading numerous complaints from other 2002 axiom owners about how the axiom frame can rust, along with the rear traction control bar, and the rear traction control bar can break loose, causing the vehicle to lock up and spin around in a circle.this is an extremely dangerous life safety hazard.worse, the typical consumer will not know how to detect this problem until it is too late.i called and discussed this with a nhtsa rep and supervisor today, and could not get them to promise to have this issue evaluated by the safety engineers, even though before my complaint, there were already 10 complaints filed by people who have experienced this problem.it appears that isuzu is doing nothing about this dangerous problem.i am asking that nhtsa take some action to protect the lives of isuzu axiom owners, by contacting isuzu and demanding a recall of all affected vehicles.according to postings on the edmunds.com axiom forum, this problem is fairly common on 2002 axioms, but may affect other axioms and other isuzu models, such as troopers or rodeos.being an engineer myself, my guess is that there was no or inadequate corrosion protection applied at the factory that is causing a premature failure of the frame where the rear traction control bar is attached.your prompt attention to this problem could save lives, even mine.please do something about this issue before someone gets killed or injured.

The contact owns a 2002 isuzu axiom. While driving 35 mph, the contact heard an unusual scraping noise. The contact drove onto the emergency lane and noticed that the frame above the drivers side rear tire was covered with rust and corroded. He also noticed that the frame around the fuel tank was also covered with rust.the vehicle was examined by an independent mechanic but not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 103,000.

The frame of the car has significant rust corrosion. Holes are developing in the main frame directly under suspension and body mountings. Frame repair is likely more than market value of car.

Noticed my steering wheel was pulling to the right this past monday. I thought one of my tires was low. I checked and that was not the case. I continued going about my errands thinking the alignment must be off. I started hearing creaking sounds and bumps when i came to stops. When i was pulling out of a parking lot something snapped underneath the vehicle. I called aaa and had my car towed to my mechanic who told me the rear trailing arm/traction arm connected to the axle and frame had rusted off, and that the frame itself was in bad shape. He had said that this was highly unusual for a 2002 model and that it was not fixable.

The contact owns a 2002 isuzu axiom.the contact stated that the entire undercarriage of the vehicle was completely rusted, including the suspension, traction arm, and the steering arm.the dealer was shocked to find out what happened to the vehicle.the vehicle cannot be driven and was towed to a welding shop.the mechanic inspected the vehicle and stated that the frame needed to be replaced.the mechanic was concerned that the front end frame would also rust if it were welded.in addition, the contact stated that the steering was difficult to maneuver and it felt like she was shifting.the contact stated that this was a safety issue.through online research, she discovered other consumers who were experiencing this issue and were not being assisted.she filed a complaint with the manufacturer.the vehicle is currently at the welding shop awaiting a remedy.the failure and current mileages were 117,000.

The contact owns a 2002 isuzu axiom. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the suspension began jerking violently and exhibited a loud noise, making it difficult to drive. Prior day before the brake, i had noticed a swaying/swinging in rear end of my car while out running errands. I thought it was just bad road or i had changed lanes not well. Didn't drive it the next day. Saturday morning i was enroute to pickup the grandkids to attend a free kids home depot workshop, i left my home and turned 1 block left to travel the route i normal take to their home. I go up a l hill and after i crest the hill i hear this loud clank noise. I thought that i had run over something so i pull over and check the rear view mirror, saw nothing. I got out and circled my car and after coming back around, on the driver rear i noticed a bar hanging down. So i get down and look to see this bar running from what appeared to be in front of my back rear tire to dangling down from where it appeared to be broken from corrosion and rusted from the frame of my car. I was 3/4 blocks from home so i slowly drove it back to my house where i have not driven it since. I took photos and showed it to my mechanic and he advised me not to drive it, that it appeared that a stabilization bar had broken it the car was not safe to operate. I live in iowa and brought the car in 2008. They do salt and sand the street during the winter months. I am writing to see of what assistance i can receive to remedy my current situation due to the recall involving suspension corrosion. I do think that i have the sever case warranting isuzu buying back my car. I eagerly await a reply from you.

Isuzu axiom 2002.my wife was trying to merge onto james river freeway in springfield, mo from hwy 65 n.it was raining but her speed was less than 40 mph.she attempted to accelerate to merge into the traffic pattern and the suv spun out of control and sent us down a boulder embedded embankment of about 30 feet. The suv bounced over the boulders and came to a rest at the bottom of the incline.fortunately we were able to 4 wheel drive out, two ruined tires, and the front bumper assembly ripped from the frame.my complaint is this: there was no practical reason for the suv to spin out of control.the suv has only 45,000 miles on it.i think there is too much torque for the suspension system.*la

Vibrations in the front end. I have replaced the tires and had them balanced 3 times. I also had them replace the tires again. Front hubs were leaking and they said this was normal. This truck is not stable.

Car vibrates at hwy speeds (usually around 70 mph).have had tires balanced 7 times, tires replaced, front bearings repacked, alignment adjusted.problem still persists.

The vehicle is very unstable at any speed when you take a bump on the road, it start swinging it difficult to matain high speed on this condition. The brakes sounds everytime is used.

On 9/19/03, i was driving on a wet road with a small hill when my 2002 isuzu axiom skidded, first to the right, then across the road into the oncoming traffic lane.there was really no reason for my car to skid.i was traveling about 25 mph, the speed limit.fortunately, no one one was coming in the opposite direction and i was able to recover from the skid.on 10/02/03, my dealer checked a screech in the left front wheel only to tell me it was incorrect tire pressure.upon my questioning him, he didn't even know what the correct tire pressure should be.*la

On 10/17/03, i was driving on a wet road with a small hill when my 2002 axiom skidded, first to the right, then across the road into the path of a car causing a collision.there was no reason for my car to go into a skid traveling at 25 mph.on 10/02/03, my dealer checked a screech in the left front wheel only to tell me it was incorrect tire pressure.upon my questioning him, he didn't know what the correct tire pressure should be.on 9/17 i also skidded the exact same way.if i could put these 2 skids on top of one another, they would match perfectly.*la

Dt:the consumer's vehicle had a flat tire and called road side assistance for isuzu, they came and changed the tire but the spare tire was defective.the tire went flat once again.the consumer took the vehicle to the dealership where it was purchased and the service manager said that there was nothing he could do.the consumer had to pay for the new tire.the vehicle is still under warranty.this vehicle is a isuzu, axiom.the right rear passenger tire was replaced with the new spare tire which had a cut.refer to: odi#10122081*sc

2002 isuzu axiom.85k miles.same frame as isuzu rodeo/honda passportdriving down the highway the road car started to grind. Upon pulling over i discovered that the drivers-side rear traction bar had completely rusted off the frame.the frame was so rusted that i don't know if there will be anyway to repair the car into functional operation.

Brake pedal vibrated whendepressed while going down an incline. When this occurred vehicle lurched forward. This resulted in loss of control of vehicle, almostcausingan accident.dealership ran a diagnostic test but no failure code was found.

Vehicle accelerated to 90 miles and did not stop with brakes or on neutral, had to be put on park to stop it.it happened twice at 6,000 miles and 13,000 miles.
