Was struck by a van starting at drivers door mirror all the way down drivers side. Drivers door opened allowing driver to be ejected. Seat belt released and no airbags deployed. Engine stalled during accident.
It was raining outside and i got in my suv to drive down the driveway to pick up my granddaughter as she got off the bus. As i started the suv and put it into reverse to back out of my space i noticed that the driver window started to roll down, the window got about halfway down i pressed the switch to raise the window and it started going up and then stopped at about 3/4 of the way up, at this point i had stopped the suv and i let off of the switch and the window went all the way down and i noticed smoke coming up from the window seals. I proceeded down the driveway to the end and the smoke was getting thicker and blacker.i shut the suv off and it stopped smoking and the residual smoke continued to pour up through the window seals. I turned the ignition back on and the smoke was instant and just as heavy as before.i shut off the ignition and saw the wiring harness in the door hinge area and was able to unplug the harness. The window is still down and i am not able to afford to fix the problem at this time.updated 10/19/12updated 10/23/2012
The driver's door does not open and it does not lock or unlock. The driver's and passengers windows get stuck. There is ongoing electrical problems in my vehicle and it concerns me for the safety of my children.
The contact owns a 2006 isuzu ascender.whenever the contact approaches a stop sign or a traffic light, the vehicle shuts off completely and will not restart occasionally.the vehicle has been to a dealer approximately six times.the driver side tail light bulb has failed three times and the radio lights no longer illuminate.the speed was unknown.the current mileage was 31,512 and failure mileage was 60.
Fuel gauge does not read correctly due to a bad sensor. Sensor is in fuel tank and estimate to fix is between $600 and $1000. Isuzu admits they have a defective part and would pay to replace if vehicle had less than 120000 miles and less than ten years in service. Vehicle has 80000 miles and ten years and eight months in service. I am original owner.
The issue started with my lights staying on.the car was parked in my driveway and turned off completely.my battery was dying and i finally seen that some of my lights outside of the car were not shutting off.i tried manually shutting them off and that did not work. Now my heat and air does not work.i'm sure it has to do with the fuse box under the back driver's side seat.when i went to check the fuses it shorted out when i pulled the cover off. I hope my car does not catch fire next.i do have the issue with my driver door not working.it worked when i first got the car, a couple months later my driver door window worked intermittently.eventually it stopped working completely.when i called isuzu they told me i had to travel to alabama if i wanted them to fix it.otherwise i could have a mechanic do it and i would be reimbursed, i just dont have 7-$800 to throw out there.
First after numerous attempts of putting unit on diagnostic system. It was determined - will first the computer could not read my codes; then my mechanic determined it was from the fuel sensor. Check engine light is on.replaced fuel pump for 450.00 and check engine light still on and fuel gauge is inoperable. I can not pass inspection due to my engine light is on. Car drive good however having theses issues; next mechanic tries to locate 06 car book. Locally here they are not sold and it's quite difficult to locate 06 isuzu ascender car book. Then with dealership guidance they determined its electrical. My computer is misfiring incorrect data to systems.dealership nor mechanic can find parts because parts are very hard to find as this unit is no longer made. It is now april 2012 and i am still without car and still mechanic is still unable to locate sufficient parts to fixed the issues. This is exhausting. The car will not pass inspection. This is just a nightmare...
The ignition switch failed while driving. Was at a intersection and light turned green started to pull away and suv just died. Turning key did nothing, tried several times then started again but when put in gear died again and would not restart. Trouble shooting by gm dealer found defective ignition switch that since not on "recall list" of gm cars with defective ignition switch i had to pay to replace (including troubleshooting time cost and towing)
The contact owns a 2006 isuzu ascender.the wiring harness was burned up and replaced.the wires began melting in the air conditioner and resistor.the failure occurred while driving 65 mph.the dealer stated that the repair would cost between $700-800.the failure mileage was 500 and current mileage was 71,956.

My check engine light has been constantly on. I've gotten it checked by 3 different people. I've gotten the same response from each. I was told that i had a misfire, i needed an oil pressure sensor/send unit, oxygen sensor bank1/banka, and that the oil was leaking bad from around the oil pressure sensor. I got the coils changed, spark plugs and wires done, changed the oil pressure and oxygen sensors too. About a couple months after that the light was back on with the low oil pressure warning. The oil was fine so i took it to have a diagnostic done on it and took it for a second opinion and the again needed an oxygen sensor and oil pressure sensor/sending unit. I changed them again and they used threading tape for the oil pressure sensor to stop the leaking of oil. I've spent around $800 so far and 2 months later the light is back on needing the same things, oil pressure sensor and oxygen sensor. I took it to have it checked with a second opinion and was told that maybe it's a defect in the computer system or something electrical that keep taking out those sensors because everything else is working fine. When i start my vehicle up from sitting over night, the engine light comes on and stay on and the low oil pressure warning stays on while idling. When i start diving the low oil pressure warning going off until i stop, then it's back on. I cut the vehicle off if i'm stopped at a traffic light then back on to finish driving. If i drive for about 15 or 20 minutes, the low oil pressure warning stays off until i start it up again the next time. It might be a defect within the system and hope someone will find the cause because to keep getting the same repairs over and over again is expensive. Its $150 just to have the oxygen sensor changed not including the part and the part is $65, and if going to car dealers is double or triple that amount. Problems from 2014 til current

As i was driving with my minor children in the vehicle i noticed that my headlights were not on. I assumed that it may hav been an malfunction in my switch. But upon a very dear and close friend of mine found the info for me on the internet that there had been a recall on my vehicle for this very problem. So not only was me and my family put in harms way but therr has been an out of pocket expense that accrued as well. Also i am more baffled that i wasn't notified of any means that certain actions were and needed 2 b taken in order 2 get the issue resolved. I would like 4 this matter 2 b handled promptly and in a timely manner. As this matter leaves me unable tofeel safe 2 drive after a certain time in the p.m. Also i read that there is also an issue with the drivers side control switch which i would like to b taken care of as well. Please make sure that not only i but other customers r made aware of things such as this which could by all means lead 2 something more tragic.

2006 isuzu ascender. Bought new in feb '06. Gas gauge/fuel sending unit failed at approx. 40,000 miles. No longer under warranty. The rear air quit working at approx. 37,000 miles. Had to replace cam sensor twice. Idler pulley had to be replaced. Main complaint is the fuel sending unit. This vehicle is made by gm and is a sister suv to the envoy, trailblazer, rainier. This year vehicle under all sister vehicles have this problem. Gm need to recall the sending units. My suv only has 50,000 miles on it to date 3/10/11. This is a lemon.
We bought this 06 accenderand at about 35,000 + miles the fuel sensor gave out on my vehicle and the check engine light comes on .it will costme close to 700 dlls to get fixed.i also have a co-worker with an 06 as well and is having the same issues as i am.
First, i think it's important to point out, this vehiicle (2006 isuzu ascender ls, 7 passenger) shares a majority of it's parts with the chevy trailblazer ext and gmc envoy xl. After a full tank of fuel has burned off to about 3/4 tank, the fuel gage would start to go upand down erratically from f to e until the tank was empty or refiled. This continued for about 6 months until the gage would not register at all and the fuel light would remain lit.

Faulty fuel level sending unit, the fuel gauge read between an 1/8 and 1/4 tank. The vehicle stalled out in a busy intersection. After filling the tank back up the gauge would be very sporadic and now does not work at all. This seems to be a large problem with gm fuels levels sending units.

I was driving at over 60 miles in a very busy highway and all of a sudden my isuzu ascender 2006 suv slowedto 40 miles and it felt it was going to just stop. I freak out and try to give it gas and nothing happen. Finally i tried to moveto the right side to avoid an accident and possible death, while doing this i felt it shifted and started taking speed again got of the highway andtook the back roads to get home. I was a nervous wreck by the time i got to my house. The following day we took the car to a dealership and they could not find a problem even though the engine light has been on for over a month. I was told to bring the car when this happen again!! then my husband drove the car to the store one night and when he was almost getting back to the house the car without warning completely stop in the middle of the road. He hadpush it to the drive way.the following day the car started and he took it again to a different place to have it check and was told the same thing they need to check the car when it suddenly stops! i am frighten to drive this car again. Why is so difficult to find what the problem is. The diagnostic test that we have done is not finding the problem. What are my options!

This vehicle is a rebadged gmc envoy/chevy trailblazer and like many of these vehicles, the fuel level sensor (fuel level sender) no longer works.other vehicles using this platform (called 360) are the buick ranier, saab 9-7x, and oldsmobile bravado.gm sold its interest in isuzu and no longer seems to accept any responsibility for the vehicles it manufactured, in fact, the closest isuzu service center is 80 miles away.all of the other vehicles in this platform have a service bulletin out where gm will agree to pay one-half the expense (done at one of their dealerships) of replacing the fuel level sensor.it is my understanding they are not offering to do so on the isuzu ascender.since my fuel gauge does not work, i carefully track my mileage since my last fill-up to ensure i do not run out of fuel.although i should have had more than one-half of a tank of gasoline, i was traveling through one of the busiest intersections in the metro-milwaukee area (mayfair road and north avenue) and when i stepped on the gas to accelerate, then engine quit.fortunately i avoided an accident and had enough velocity to make it through the intersection and and was able to maneuver my way off of the state highway.the only explanation i can deduce for being out of fuel is that during the last fill-up, i was pumping using the auto switch on the gas nozzle which turns off automatically when the tank is full.perhaps the switch turned off, not because of being full of fuel, but because the vapors triggered it.i am much more careful at this point, but it clearly could be a very dangerous situation if one does not carefully monitor their fuel use.
Power controls on driver's side door, controlling mirrors, seats, locks, windows, have defected twice since purchase of vehicle two years ago, requiring replacement of power module.

The contact owns a 2006 isuzu ascender. While in driving in reverse at approximately 5 mph, the contact heard a squeaking sound from the steering wheel. In addition, when making a right or left turn the squeaking sound could be heard intermittently at different speeds. The vehicle was taken to an auto repair shop where the mechanic stated that the steering would need a flush exchange. The failure continued after the repair. The vehicle was taken back to the auto shop where the mechanic stated there was a recall under nhtsa campaign id number: 05v455000 (steering:hydraulic power assist:hose, piping, and connections) that could have been related to the failure and referred her to the dealer. The dealer was made aware of the failure and advised that contact that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not further repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 65,500.

Traveling approx: 45 mph. Traction control kicks on causing car to veer to left into on coming traffic.road conditions were dry. The driver's door does not open and it does not lock or unlock. The driver's and passengers windows get stuck. There is ongoing electrical problems in my vehicle and it concerns me for the safety of my children.
I came outside at 11:30am and tried to open the rear lift glass and discovered that one the metal hinges/braces on the top of the glass had separated. It appears to me that the adhesive that bonded the metal to the glass has failed. I was a little stunned after i thought about what could have happened if i was traveling with a load pressed against this glass.i took the vehicle to a local gm dealership and i was told the entire glass would have to be replace at a cost of approximately $1700; about $1200 of that price is for the glass itself. They also told me that even though there's nothing else wrong with this glass, there was no way to simply reattach the metal to the glass with some type of adhesive. It's a huge hardship to have to pay such a large amount of money to repair something i think is clearly a design flaw; especially when i'm still making monthly payments on this vehicle. The price of the glass alone is at least 4 times more than it cast to replace the windshield on this vehicle. I think there should be a much more cost effective solution where the metal hinges and pieces can be reattached to the glass. If there is, please share the info.
