Timing chain started rattling @ 125,000 miles.. However, my vin shows no recall for my car. Cats went bad, had to be replaced and now need to be replaced again. Yet no recall on my car. The battery constantly goes dead in the car. I bought a new infinity battery in the car the same thing happened. You can reproduce this problem by sitting in the car listening to the radio for 30 minutes. I was sitting in the car listening radio and the car battery went dead and the car shut off. This is a huge issue, the qx56 is a 8 cylinder car. It does not charge very easily. I have to carry a battery charger in my car. I have been stranded several times in the last year. I have taken the car to infinity and they claim nothing is wrong with the car. Since it is a big car the battery drain quickly.
Traveling at 1 mph, my 2011 infiniti qx56 bumped another vehicle. There was no damage to either vehicle, but my driver airbag deployed.infiniti is refusing to look at the vehicle unless my insurance company asks them to.i feel this low speed deployment is from a defect in this week old vehicle, but cannot get help.i am concerned infiniti is attempting to ignore the problem and brush it under the rug.
The contact owns a 2011 infiniti qx56. The contact stated that the vehicle lost battery connection and the battery failed. There was no warning indicator illuminated. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times and the battery was either replaced or recharged in some cases. The vehicle was taken to nalley infiniti atlanta (678-254-0987, located at 2550 the nalley way, atlanta, ga 30360) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 65,000.

The contact owns a 2011 infiniti qx56. The contact stated while driving 40 mph, the accelerator pedal was depressed however, the vehicle failed to respond and decelerated without warning. The vehicle was coasted to the shoulder of the roadway and turned off and restarted however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was towed to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
Through my research and speaking with infiniti mechanics there has been a known issue with timing chains and associate parts that are a hazard and a major expense to 2011-2012 infinity qx56 owners. This issue will leave you stranded somewhere!! it happens to my wife and i three times!!! i had to get it towed all three times!! the hazard is while driving on highway the engine just loses all power leaving the hazard of someone running in back of you. If you driving up an incline and this problem comes about your vehicle will stall an you can possibly start rolling backwards. So from myresearch this problem has been happening to people either right before there warranty ends at 70,000 miles or right after (like me) at 74,000 miles. I called infiniti and they refused to help me in any way. The guys at my dealership said its a hit or miss with them helping owners of the qx56 that's over the warranty. I was already $1500 in the whole on parts they thought were the problem and now they want to charge me an estimated $3,000-4,5000 to do the rest of the work. Its a fact that infiniti knows they have this issue and refuses to recall or help the owners. I will never purchase a infiniti again!!! and will spread the word around about them!
Catalytic converter failure on driver's side resulting in check engine light.
Catalytic converters have failed several times.left side catalytic converter replaced by previous owner in 2013.right side catalytic converter replaced by current owner in 2016.left side catalytic converter needs to be replaced again.contacted dealer and infiniti consumer affairs. They did not offer a solution.
I noticed the vehicle started making a loud whistle noise emanating from the engine during cold start-ups.approximately 2 weeks later i took it for service at the orlando infiniti dealership on january 5, 2016. As soon as i described the issue the service advisor and multiple technicians immediately said "is the timing belt." prior to this vehicle i owned a 2005 qx56 that i drove for 10 years with over 180, 000 and never had any issues. Now i look online and everywhere i look i find that it is a very common issue with this vehicle. It is so common that the infiniti dealership has one technician dedicated to working this issue alone.while at the shop i saw at least 5 more qx56 vehicle in for the same issue. Now i am looking at a repair bill over $4500.i never had any vehicle with 90,000 miles and having this issue. It is way too common and it is a crime that infiniti has not categorized this issue as a full recall. These are top dollar luxury vehicles!!!
Timing chain failed, needed to be replaced, $6000+ repair.
Timing chain failure and also catalytic converters failed.
Engine is making loud whining noise and jerks.noise is heard when the truck starts and is on iddle.there was a service bulletin issued in 2016 itb16-015.we were never notified of this campaign.when calling infinity corporate they denied fixing the issue because they could not see the maintenance record for the truck since it was not taken to an infinity dealer.the truck gets maintenance from other places like jiffy lube etc.our claim was denied they said the campagin expired in february 2018.
Code ref tsbno. 16-015 timing chains replacement manufacturer defect and recall
"takata recall"only owner of 2011 qx56, always on time with proper maintance. After a recall on the timing chain 2 days after picking up vehicle the service engine light came on, i called the dealer they advised it was normal to give it a few days. After 3 days light ses light came off, then about 8 months later the service engine soon light was back, got it checked and it's the catalytic converter.
Problems with the timing belt chain on newer model infiniti qx56.problem of car making whistling noise appeared early after purchase and intermittently thereafter but became prominent in july 2011.appears to be a recurring problem with this vehicle model.dealer had to replace the entire engine on the vehicle to address the issue.however, we believe the underlying defect in the timing belt chain will continue to occur and that there is the potential the engine could fail and cause a major accident(s) and/or fatalit(ies).
The catalytic converter bank 1 needs to be replaced. This seems to be a common issue with turn 2011-2013 infinity qx 56 and infinity should have issued a recall for the faulty converters.
I'm currently dealing with the timing chain nightmare so many others have had and are having. Of course just as most of the others i'm out of warranty and really frustrated that infiniti hasn't stepped up to the plate to address the problem properly as opposed to renaming the qx56 to qx 80 to save themselves, leaving consumers scrambling with expensive time consuming fixes to a known defect on their part. Where's the accountability on their part, do a certain number of people have to die or be injured before the consumers are provided with the proper assistance? who really looks out for us?
The service engine soon light came on, and i brought the vehicle to holmon infiniti in mapleshade, nj where i purchased the vehicle.the diagnosis was a bank 2 catalytic convertor failure.i had it replaced at a cost of $2,661.79 on thursday march 29, 2018.on saturday march 31, 2018, the bank 1 catalytic convertor failed.infiniti consumer affairs provided some assistance with the second repair.they paid for the parts and i paid the labor of $1,385.63.infiniti consumer affairs would not reimburse me for the parts for the first repair because "i already paid for it".had i known about this apparently common problem, i would not have paid for the first one without contacting them first.it appears to be a known issue if they were willing to give me any assistance at all, and i would think that would be extended to repairs already paid for by the consumer.
With 72000 miles on the vehicle, two thousand over warranty, the timing chain has to be replaced. Infiniti refuses to offer any financial assistance when it is an obvious manufacturing defect. That is evidenced by the fact that replacement parts have been completely re-engineered. A timing chain failure at highway speed would result in a serious accident or fatality. The vehicle has been carefully maintained by nissan.
Today, i was told that i have to replace the catalytic converter, which going to cost me $2,000.i am the original car owner. I researched other sites and it appears there catalytic converter issues on infiniti 2011 - 2013 qx56 vehicles.please look into these websites.there should be some type of recall for these vehicles regarding the catalytic converter.refer to websites:https://infinitiforum.net/infiniti-forum/archive/index.php/t-13616.htmlhttps://repairpal.com/timing-chain-and-exhaust-stay-away-from-infinit-qx56-and-better-stay-from-all-infiniti-cars--314https://forums.edmunds.com/discussion/35247/infiniti/qx56/2013-qx56-catalytic-converter-premature-failurehttp://repairpal.com/abnormal-noise-from-timing-chain-area-266please consider a recalling the catalytic converter on these vehicles.

We purchased this vehicle used on may 5, 2017.my wife was driving it down a city street at less than 45mph, and it broke down on us on may 23rd, and was sent in for repairs.told it was a relay or an issue with the timing.got the vehicle back on june 1, and here it is june 7th and at the same location as before, at the same speed, it broke down with the same issue.we've owned the vehicle for one month and been in the shop twice.please help as this has the potential to be a very costly repair.
Engine is making a loud noise on the front right side. Took it to my mechanic and he said is the timing chain and oil jet.
The contact owns a 2011 infiniti qx56. While operating the vehicle and depressing the accelerator pedal, a squealing and clapping type noise was heard from the engine compartment. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer (coulter infiniti, 6225 east test dr., mesa, az 85206) where it was diagnosed that the timing chain was faulty. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact had to decelerate due to the noise. The contact drove the vehicle to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but no failure code was found initially. The mechanic reset the codes, test drove the vehicle, performed a second diagnostic test, and located failure codes for the timing chain, catalytic converter, and exhaust system. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in the unknown manufacturer recall for the engine timing chain and catalytic failure. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 200,500.
On june 1st 2020 i took my 2011 infiniti qx56 to the shop for having the code p0087. The shop told me that i should take it to the dealership because the problems the vehicle is having are recalled under voluntary safety recall campaign. When i called my local infiniti dealership they told me my vin # doesn't doesn't show as recalled. They dealership provided me with the phone number of infiniti consumer affairs. I called infiniti affairs and told them about my vehicle they told me that they were sorry but my vin doesn't show up on their system. The bottom line is that every single thing that i researched and find the wrong of the vehicle comes back with a voluntary recall. Like the fuel system, timing chain, vvt solenoids, high pressure fuel pump. I use vehicle in the city and highway.
My vehicle needs two catalytic converters replaced in order to pass smog. Infiniti dealer wants $5600 to make this repair! this is a common problem for this vehicle and should be a recall item.
The contact owns a 2011 infiniti qx56. The contact stated that the check engine warning light illuminated upon start-up. The vehicle was taken to two separate independent mechanics to be diagnosed. The suv was driving without issue; however, if the timing chain had broken we would have had an engine stall which could have caused an accident.we heard a noise in the car and decided to be safe and take it in for service. After getting to the infiniti dealership of gwinnett the noise had subsided. We explained we heard a whining noise when the car was starting up that went away after a time. The noise wasn't even evident but they knew what it was before even hearing it. After letting the car cool down they started the engine up again and heard the noise. They let us know this had confirmed the initial diagnosis of a timing chain issue. After getting home and looking up the issue with the car i was surprised to see so many people talking about this issue.apparently infiniti has a defective oil pump that lubricates the chains that caused this issue.i wanted to voice my concern and displeasure with the timing chain issue that appears to be a common issue with the 2011 qx56.
The contact owns a 2011 infiniti qx56. When the vehicle was started, an unusual noise was heard from the engine and the check engine indicator illuminated. Fuel line failure:a fuel line fitting/clamp on back side of engine (drivers side) is streaming fuel at a rate of approximately 1/2 cup per minute.while starting my car this morning, i noticed a strong smell of gasoline, so i checked underneath and saw gas steadily streaming from the car and forming a 2 foot diameter puddle.i am having the car towed to dealer's garage for repair later this week.the car has approximately 25000 miles and has never been in an accident.the fuel line leak may be related infiniti's recall: nhtsa id: 14v-683.
Infiniti/nissan issued a recall back in 2010 (recall id#10v074000) for fuel gauge/sensor sending unit problem.the same issue is happening on later year vehicles, but no recall has been issued.there are endless reports on the web across many forums where people are having the same problem for something that has been recalled before.see notes from past recall.recall id # 10v074000 - fuel system, other:storage:fuel gauge system recall date: mar 03, 2010 summary: nissan is recalling certain model year 2005-2009 titan, armada, and infiniti qx56 vehicles. The instrument panel fuel gauge may inaccurately display that the vehicle still has some fuel, typically about one quarter tank, when the fuel tank is empty.consequence: this could cause the vehicle to run out of gas and stall on the highway, which could cause a crash. Is this no longer a safety concern? same issue, just later models... Mine specifically is a 2011 and i never know how much gas is in it. It fluctuates and shows empty when it's not and shows full when it's not. Please investigate and advise the many owners that are having this problem.
Check engine light on, both catalytic converters needed replacing.

I have a failed fuel rail pressure sensor which is part of a voluntary safety recall that was done in 2012.i called the manufacturer to inform them about my fuel sensor they told me that my car isn't part of the recall because their engineers determined that it wasn't part of the recall!i'm not sure how they determined that out of all cars produced that year. Now i'm stuck with a car i can't drive unless i take it to the dealership and spend money to get it fixed. My only hope now is that someone from nhtsa can help me out and get them to fix their defective part!thanks

Catalytic converter issues causing the check engine light to come on
While driving "service engine soon" light came on, noticed power loss. Diagnosed with bad catalytic converter at 85k miles
Less than a year after i got the timing debacle fixed, i get a "check engine light" on 2011 qx56.according to my warranty approved mechanic both cats were gone and were not covered.this complaint is the beginning of my goal of getting assurant or infiniti to own this problem since the combined ca and fed cat warranty is 150k miles.my warranty should cover.
Fuel leveling sensor is faulty in a large variety of infiniti cars, but there is not recall for my vin. The car's fuel gauge goes up and down all the time and tells me i'm on empty when i'm not and never registers full even when it was just filled up. It can jump from reading 330 miles left to empty down to 299 and back up to 330 in just a few seconds. The diagnostic confirmed a problem, but they want over $1,000 to fix a known problem in many of their makes and models.this doesn't even touch on the timing chain issue that is faulty as well.luckily, there is a recall for that one. How is the consumer protected against this type of faulty parts? is there anything we can do? we have been told we need to replace the fuel pump.
A check engine light (cel) appeared on my 2011 infiniti qx56 at 89k miles. Error is a bad catalytic converter on bank 1. The exact message on odb2 reader is: p0420 catalyst system efficiency below threshold bank 1. This issue just happened after i just replaced a bad o2 sensor after a cel.
On a full tank of gas i am only able to get about 200 miles before empty. I recently filled up the gas tank and drove 25 miles and i have 3/4 of a tank of fuel left.i mainly drive in the city, but the recent 25 mile example was highway driving with cruise control on.
Service engine light on. Both catalytic converters needed replacing at 82,000
Timing chain failure and also catalytic converters failed.
Was driving my vehicle and first noticed a drop in fuel economy. Later it was losing power and stalling. Gave me p0090 and p0087 codes. Happened in both driving and stationary positions. Turns out my high pressure fuel pump is bad.

When driving 40-70 mph and hitting any road irregularities (offsets in pavement at bridges, old to new pavement, man hole covers, road patches) the vehicle back end skips sideways with a loss of control. The vehicle will start to head into the next lane and needs to be steered in the opposite direction to correct it. We do not feel safe driving it. Others in the car have said they have never experienced anything like it. Dealership is telling us this is normal. Vehicle is under warranty and we can't get resolution to this.
The air suspensions of this suv goes out. The white paint for my 2011 gx56 is peeling all over the vehicle. And needs to be painted asap. This vehicle is a luxury truck that's peeling bad.
I purchased this vehicle from a reputable infinity dealership on january 31,2013 with 41,669 miles, and i also purchased the extended elite protection program warranty for 5 years for $4,978.00.on may 5th, 2015, i brought this vehicle in for a state inspection sticker, which was rejected because my rear tires were worn out badly with only 15,725 miles on them.these were top-of -the-line michelin ltx with a warranty of 70,000 miles.i brought this suv into the infinity dealership where it was purchased and they stated that the rear cambers were corroded and rear tows were frozen, and i had to replace the complete rear suspension. None of this was covered on my elite protection warranty.the amount of corrosion underneath this vehicle is astounding, it looks worse than a 20 year-old vehicle.the price of this work was $2,000.00, additionally my new rear tires were $592.80.not what i expected from a high-end luxury suv, i previously owned 2 nissan pathfinders with no issues. My vehicle was manufactured in may, 2010, and i realize that there were 2 similar recalls # 10e019000,(safety recall began on july 12, 2010) and a second recall # 10v208000,(safety recall began on may 20, 2010) which states that nissan was recalling 2004-2010 qx 56 vehicles due to faulty front and/or rear lower control arms in the vehicle's suspension systems.(vehicles sold between november 25, 2009 and may 14, 2010.) my vehicle was manufactured in may, 2010.i also saw on this website a complaint filed on 11/10/2014, nhtsa id number 10653767; concerning the suspension of their 2010 qx 56 vehicle. It is exactly the issue i had with my qx 56, and i believe that my vehicle should be included in this recall. I had contacted infinity corporation concerning this issue on july 1, 2015, but they did not think these were excruating issues and declined my complaint. ( my case # 19302823 with infinity corporation.)
The contact owns a 2011 infiniti qx56. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. The contact pulled over and inspected underneath the vehicle. The contact became aware that the rear lower control arm on the passenger's side was fractured in half. The driver's side rear control arm also showed evidence of a similar imminent failure. The vehicle was taken to an independnent mechanic where both control arms were scheduled to be replaced. The parts were on order from the manufacturer. Lia infiniti (860 new loudon rd, latham, ny 12110, (518) 738-0800) was contacted and informed of the failure. The contact was informed that the vin was not under recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 96,500.

I purchased my 2011 infiniti qx56in january of 2015 with 36,6036 miles on it. I take excellent care of my vehicle mechanically and cleanliness. On august 17th, 2019 my back a frame and other rear suspension broke due to corrosion and the metal split apart. My under carriage also looks like and old car. My car is washed twice a week even in the winter to remove the salt. This is not covered under any of my warranties.it is going to cost me $5,200.00 to make this repair. I had two chevy suburbans that i put 295,000 miles on and sold them to friends and they are still driving them with no issues like this. I will never buy a infiniti again!i noticed this when i was approaching the back of my vehicle after playing hockey. So it must have happened after i parked the car.
Our 2011 infiniti qx56 cannot be properly controlled at speed when any rough pavement, pot hole, bridge connection joints, or similar is ran over. The vehicle shakes violently with little if any control by the driver.on numerous occasions the vehicle drifts out of the lane.no accidents have ever occurred but at least three near misses on interstate driving have occurred.at highway speeds it is scary and quite dangerous.
Catalytic converter both sides not working (112 k miles). This is a very prevalent (and very expensive) issue in most 2011-2013 qx56 (please see nhtsa complaints and infiniti forum complaints). Is there a recall or will there be one?
In june 2017, i had the vehicle into the dealership for the power train recall.in july 2017 (87k miles), i had a 420 bank 1 cat code, and replaced one catalytic converter.in december 2017 (94k miles), the 'check engine soon' light illuminated again, and the 430 code shows the other catalytic converter (bank 2) needs to be replaced.it seems the cats on these vehicles are terrible, and once one goes out, the other fails too.this is very expensive...about $2,000 each in my case.this seems too common based on the reviews i've read online now.i feel like infiniti should cover the cost of replacing at least one of the cats, but i was denied assistance.
Code ref tsbno. 16-015 timing chains replacement manufacturer defect and recall
1.-the dash board is unleashing by the sun. ( melting )2.-the paint is risingmy suv just have 70k miles it 2011 ( to day oct 03/2019)
Infiniti has never officially issued a recall but should have since all 2011-2013 infiniti qx56 have catalytic converter issues that need to be replaced.it is covered if you replace before 80k miles but if you do not know about it could cost you $6,000.it is an issue with all of them that infiniti does not want to address but should recall and help customers since it is an error they made in these models which is now fixed in newer models.
The service engine light came on and the vehicle was checked by infiniti service. The right side catalytic converter failed. We repaired that (about 2 weeks ago). Today, the same service engine light came on and it is the left catalytic converter. The total amount spent to repair both of the catalytic converters will be over three thousand dollars. From speaking to the mechanic and researching online, it appears that the catalytic converters failing on this vehicle is a prevalent problem. This is a very expensive issue to fix and it seems like many people are experiencing this issue. Although there may not be a large number of people reporting this issue on this site, it appears that this is an issue that many people are experiencing based on the online forums i have read.
My dash board started cracking across the bottom of the leather.

Windshield cracks - i've been through 3 windshields on this vehicle - always breaks in same spot: drivers side, under wiperblade, near the corner by the vin plate.first time there was no bullseye, chip, or external damage, but dealer still would not cover it.second time was after a minor impact with front bumper.third was a rock hit, but all three had the breakage in the same spot!i noticed other complaints, so clearly this isn't a random occurrence.
Front wind shield cracks with the slighted hit on my second one in three months. If it can not withstand road debris imagine a car accident.
The contact owns a 2011 infiniti qx56. The contact stated that there was a six inch fracture in the front windshield under the wiper. The vehicle was parked overnight in a residential driveway and the fracture was not present the night before.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer where the dealer advised that it would be months before a new windshield would become available.the contact was concerned because there was nothing to indicate that the windshield was struck by any debris. The failure and current mileage was 3,000. Updated 07/08/11*lj
