Vehicles airbag light flashes continuously as if it went off.it is unknown if the airbag will function during a crash.a quick internet search will return numerous sites with thousands of users with similar issues.people have come up with a reset procedure for this warning light, but it seems to reoccur for everyone involved.airbags may not function during head on crash.
While driving down the road on sunday, july 19th, 2015. The light for the air bags started blinking out of the blue. Now every time i get in the suv to go somewhere it stays blinking.
Problems with passenger side air bag.*mrsince the vehicle was new the passenger air bag deactivation indicator light has illuminated on the dash intermittently.the rear lift gate sensor would beep while driving.the dealer was able to duplicate the problem but could not offer an immediate solution.the driver's side washer sprayer did not function.the liquid being sprayed out of the sprayer was alcohol which discolored the paint on the hood cowling.the dvd entertainment unit broke.while driving over bumps the vehicle would lose cabin pressure and emitted a low frequency booming sound.the consumer was advised that a technical service bulletin was issued for that problem.the dealer did not have the parts available to fix the problem. We currently own a 2004 infiniti qx56. We have received error code b1177 which is for the pretensioner in seatbelts. Additionally, the airbag light is flashing. We understand from the dealership that the airbag light came on due to the battery being replaced and that it needed to be reset. The airbag light came bag on shortly thereafter and we took the vehicle to a private mechanic who scanned the code. He advised us of the error code and what it was associated with. Upon further investigation, it appears that an extensive amount of owners of the infiniti qx56 as well as the nissan armada (sister vehicle) have this exact issue. We are unsure as to whether the airbags will fail if involved in an accident or if the safety belts will also not work. The vehicle has a 10 year seatbelt warranty but the dealers are stating that this item is not covered under warranty. This is obvious neglect and defect on the manufacturer's part and puts the owners of these vehicles at serious risk. We are a family of 5 with 3 small children. We cannot afford to purchase a new vehicle or to pay thousands of dollars to correct this safety related issue. Please advise.
Consumer's vehicle was in a head on collision while driving at approximately 45 mph. Upon impact, the air bags failed to deploy.
The contact owns a 2004 infinity qx56. The contact was driving 50 mph when the front end of the vehicle began to shake. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who performed a diagnostic that located the failure at the front suspension lower control arms. The vehicle was taken to the local mechanic to have the front lower control arms replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 110,000 and the current mileage was 119,000. The consumer at his own expense, he had to replace the left and right control lower arms.the consumer stated a recall was issued in may 2010. However, he was informed that for his model the parts were not defective, and therefore did not fall under the recall.also, all four belt pre-tensions had to be replaced on both side.the consumer stated on four separate occasions the pre-tensions failed. Each time they failed, it rendered the air bags non-functional.the transmission failed had to be replaced at a cost of $8000 due to the failure of a $10 switch inside the transmission, which was responsible for the reverse component. The wiper fluid motor was diagnosed as being inoperable. The consumer was informed it would require replacement at a cost of a few hundred dollars. The consumer received a second opinion and was told a hose had come off and re-attached it free of charge the entire brake assembly, driver side window motor, lift gate motor, tachometer, driver side door lock, hvac control, blower resistor and exhaust heat shield all had to be replaced. . updated 04/27/12
Passenger air bag light and dash light is on all the time.
Passenger's air bag turns off intermittently when consumer's spouse sits in the passenger seat. The spouse is 5'7' in height, and weighs 120 lbs. The sensors are defective. However, the manufacturer is telling the owner there is nothing they can do.
No crash.....air bag light on and blinking continuously after infiniti repaired 3 times before. Sept 6 2005 4th attempt. Last time infiniti repaired was 16 days in shop.
Several failures:1. Failure of the backup warning sensors.2. Failure of the seat memory system.3. Failure of the steering wheel entry/exit position function.4. Navigation disk faults5. Head liner sqeazks and rattles.the car has now been in at the dealer for three weeks to repair these problems.i have picked the car up once only to turn around and return it when the headliner problems started again and the backup warning sensors malfunctioned again.
The contact owns a 2004 infiniti qx56.the contact stated that the air conditioner actuator motor was defective.the manufacturer was notified of the failure and told the contact that there was only an investigation out for the defect also denied assisting the contact with the contact of repairs to the defect.the dealer was in the process of repairing the failure. Infiniti qx56:intelligent cruise control on vehicle causes all of instrument panel to malfunction and the vehicle to suddenly stop running.this occurs even when the cruise control is not being used.the laser guided system causes electrical malfunctions throughout the vehicle causing gauges to fluctuate randomly and alert lights to give false readings.dealer deems it a "poor design" and considers vehicle unsafe to drive unless the system is replaced.the system is being replaced with the exact same part so the likelihood of recurrence is very high.multiple vehicles affected; dealer had several vehicles in the ship with the exact same problem.
The contact owns a 2004 infiniti qx56.while exiting the highway at 50 mph, the vehicle shut off as if the ignition was turned off.there was no power steering or braking ability.the contact coasted to the side of the road.after approximately 2-3 attempts, the vehicle restarted.the vehicle stopped a second time approximately 2-5 minutes later.the vehicle restarted again.approximately 20 minutes later, the vehicle shut off for the third time.on the second crank, the vehicle restarted.the contact drove home and called the dealer to schedule a repair appointment.when his wife drove the vehicle, the failure recurred, but the vehicle would not start.the vehicle was towed to the dealer and they stated that there was an internal failure of the ipdm.they replaced the ipdm with goodwill parts.the current mileage was 56,012 and failure mileage was approximately 55,944. My 2004 infinity q56 engine cuts off going down the road. Dealer is aware of a problem with several year models doing this same thing. All power is lost brakes , steering ect. Have had 4 computer boards replace and going back for another try oct.25-2010. Infinity consumer affairs has been contacted but even though they are concerned they are not sure of a fix. What will it take to get help, a bad crash or two? if you type in problems with q56 cutting off while going down the road you will see that the internet has a group of people experiencing this same scary issue. Thank you for looking into this. I myself have had a few close calls trying to get the car off the road safely. First incident june 2007 last incident oct. 20 , 2010.
On july 1, 2012 i was driving on highway 156 in winston-salem n.c. When my air condition, turn signal, speedometer stop working and check engine light can on.we were on vacation driving through north carolina from georgia. It was sunday and we decided to stay overnight to have the qx56 infinity checked out the next day for safety reasons. The next mourning on our way to the infinity dealership, the 4 wheel drive can on and locked up the transmission and stopped moving. We were on highway 156 downtown winston-salem on monday mourning in rush hour traffic stopped. I manage to easy it off the road and called aaa to tow me to the dealership. I have taken this vehicle to other dealerships in jonesboro ga. And then in huntsville al before my trip because of the service light coming on. My family and i was very lucky we were not killed.i feel this vehicle got some very serious safety problems that must be check out before anything major happen that may hurt or kill someone. This 2004 qx56 infinity have been recalled many times for repairs since i purchase it in 2004. Because of pass experiences with this vehicle, i feel there may be more seriousdefects in this vehicle.
I have an 04 qx56 as a daily driver. I was leaving walmart as i pulled out of the parking lot i pulled into the turn lane to allow a car to go by mashed my brake and it started jer king like something was trapped in my brakes. We pulled on down to a large parking lot got out notice the red brake light was on and under the hood something was clicking near the air intake thing. It did it the entire ride home as we were 30 mins from home we just drive slow. Got in it today for the 1st time was ok til about 45 mins into trip light came back on brakes started doing the same thing. I have read many people complain of this issue. If it doesn't get recalled there will be a wreck in these vehicles!please make nissan/infiniti recalled this part! i have researched it and there was a lawsuit filed but it didn't make them admit there was an issue just made them pay for out of pocket expenses.i am a stay at home mom college student my husband just lost his job due to health reasons. I can't afford to pay for this issue!
The vehicle died when at a stop light and rolled back hitting the car behind us.i looked on your website and apparently it was caused by a faulty engine control module (ecm) in the intelligent power distribution module (ipdm).this appears to have been recalled on all 2004 to 2006 infiniti qx56 vehicles, however, i received no such notice and infiniti says their is not recall associated with my vin number.i believe my vin number was left out in error and this should be recalled.this vehicle has also lost power a number of times while driving, but those incidents didn't result in an accident (luckily).thank you.
Severe brake judder for 3 months, brakes have now completely failed , unable to drive car,(2)driver seat memory has failed,(3) rear window washer has failed, (4)driver seat coming apart, (5) windshield washer reservoir will not hold water.
Back up warning sensor/steering wheel entry function stays in up position/rattle in dash driver side/warped front brake rotors/sensor in passenger side window failure/replacement of cd player/navigation accept screen stays on until you click accept/
While applying the brake pedal vehicle failed to stop completely.however, consumer was able to stop the vehicle because the abs system kicked in. Vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection, and mechanic determined that the brake pads and computer system needed tobe replaced, and replaced them. However, the problem recurred.

While driving at approximately 45 mph under clear driving conditions and towing a travel trailer, infiniti qx-56 had an extensive electrical fire in front, interior console, which caused major/extensive damage to vehicle.if not extinguished with a fire extinguisher, it would have caused major injury or death to the occupants and totaled the vehicle.infiniti replaced all of the defective components (approx $12,000 of damage to the vehicle).

The exhaust manifolds are defective which creates noise and allows fumes to escape.infiniti admits they are defective but they want $2,800 to $4,000 to replace them.this should be considered a safety hazard and infiniti should replace them free of charge.
The contact owns a 2004 infiniti qx56. The contact stated that exhaust fumes were emitted into the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the technician diagnosed that the exhaust manifold was cracked and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 130,000.
Emergency brake:e-brake appears to engage on its own and the brake light indicator comes on.there's also a grinding sound when brake is pressed.grinding sounds only occurs when this issue comes up.exhaust manifolds:was notified by the dealer upon a service inspection that there was a small crack in the exhaust manifolds.is this a normal thing? and should this be a recall item as it could throw off any smog check testing.in addition how about the exhaust in the cabin issue?maybe they used too thin of a metal for the manifolds.
The contact owns a 2004 infiniti qx56. The contact stated while driving approximately 40 mph, all of the interior lights started to blink on and off, all of the gauges spun around and the vehicle stalled. The contact mentioned that after several attempts the vehicle restarted. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician diagnosed that the ipdm module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact was made aware of recall nhtsa campaign id number: 10v517000 (engine and engine cooling). However, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. Up the hood and its splashed all over the manifold. Also abs issue. Braking mech makes metal to metal sound and if u cut off car and turn back on.. It resumes as normal.

Radiator cracked. Interim with transmission fluid. $5,000 transmission rebuild.
At the beginning of june 2008, i noticed spots on my garage floor under the car, towards the front of the engine; i thought it must be the oil filter and it needed to be tightened. I continued to notice this for the following weeks. I went under the vehicle and noticed that the leaky fluid had cascaded all underneath the vehicle.i went into have it serviced, dealer said that it was atf fluid, dealer tightened a clamp.problem continued to persist, went into service, dealer replaced hose.problem continued to persist, went into service, dealer said they needed to replace the entire radiator system due to design defect in the hose and clamp connection...total cost for this repair $1086.96.wrote letter to infinity consumer affairs, stating i should be reimbursed for this repair as it was a nhtsa 10012879 bulletin and manufacture design failure.....their reply: "sorry cant help you".they would only cover this repair to the leaking atf fluid if the car was under warranty ((i noticed the problem while my car was under warranty, but took it in to have the work done within 60days of my warranty expiring, with only 40k miles on the car ' i thought it was just the oil filter needing to be tightened)) this is a safety issue that the manufacture needs to cover in full, regardless of the car being in or out of warranty; if this leak continued to persist, the fluid could come in contact with the exhaust manifold or catalytic converter and cause a fire.
Vehicle was parked and consumer was outside of the vehiclewhen it started rolling backwards, knocking the consumer to the ground. Itcontinued to roll down the driveway and struck a tree.dealer could find no defects.the same thing happened a second time.

While i'm driving, the brake light on my cluster would come on and if i try to brake, the pedal would just go to the floor and the vehicle would feel as if abs is kicking in. This is very dangerous as i've ran through multiple red lights and pedestrian crosswalks due to the brakes not working properly. Thank god i haven't hurt anyone or myself due to this on going problem with the delta sensor. Researched online and read tons of stories of people with the same issue which apparently cost $1000 usd to fix!! please make infiniti responsible for this fix or someone will get hurt or even worse, deaths.
The contact owns a 2004 infiniti qx56. While engaging the brakes, the abs light illuminated and an unknown noise emitted from under the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the brakes failed to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician was unable to find a failure. The brakes and rotors were replaced, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 42,000. The vin was unavailable.
I was on the highway driving my family from texas to north carolina when i ran into rush hour traffic long the way.i applied the brake to slow the vehicle down, then suddenly the steering wheel started shaking, there was a lound gridding noise as if the engine about to fallout and my brakedidnot hold immediately when applied.
Same issue as all other posting..loss of brakes, shudder, lights go off.i had it towed in.as it was under warranty, they reprogrammed and redid all brakes...now, same problem 9 months ago..i cleared everything and it recurred again..this is lifethreatening...i'm amazed no action has been taken with all these posts (and many others on other compliant boards).will someone have to get killed and then officially start a class-action?
On two separate occasions while the car was moving in a dry parking lot and applying my brakes, my abs brakes kicked on for no reason and the car was difficult to control and stop.the light came on as well and i heard alot of grinding. This was very scary as both times i had my children in the car.the only way to reset abs was to turn off vehicle.i am so afraid that this will happen again and i may not be able to stop.i am now afraid to drive and am thinking about selling it because i feel it is not safe to drive.
I have a 2004 qx56 and have been having brake problems since i first got it.the brakes were replaced under an initial recall in 2005, but a new problem began in 2006 and has been occurring since.initially, only about once every 2 months, the brakes will sporadically pulsate and the car will come to a quick halt.i would just restart the car and it was fine.the dealership said it was a firmware problem, and "flashed" the firmware.it still kept happening, they flashed the firmware over and over again, and then just said there was nothing more that could be done.now that the truck is out of warranty, the dealership says it is being caused by a bad brake booster, and will cost $1,100 to fix.but this has been happening since long before it was out of warranty, and now it is happening much more often, almost every day.review of different infiniti forums shows many qx56's, nissan armadas, and nissan titans are experiencing this problem.nissan has put out a service bulletin acknowledging the problem, but their solution does not solve the problem.this should really be investigated further and a recall issued for whatever the cause of the problem is.
While driving and starting to apply the brakes there can be heard a grinding sound, brake light displays on the dash and the brake pedal goes to the floor.this is very unsafe to me and the public because once i was able to get home and restart the vehicle it functions like nothing was ever wrong. I drove around the block with no problem stopping which lasted about 2 weeks before it all started again, this time with my family in the vehicle.there are no leaks or squeaking from using my brakes; something needs to be done.
Brake light and slip light turns on in instrument panel, brakes do not grab or makes a grinding sound. My rotors and pads are in good condition per dealership.
Brake does not brake when squeezed scares me the mechanical and did not find the problem i have children
As i was traveling on a city street, the brakes on my 2004 infiniti qx56 started making a grinding noise and the brake light on dash board went on making it hard to come to a stop. I don't know whats causing this problem. I know there was a recall on this vehicle for the same reason (brakes) but i don't have the number
Brake light came on and braking was affected while driving on a town street going about 25 mph. Once car was turned off and cranked light went off and brakes were fine. Have seen other complaints about a faulty sensor.
I have a 2004 qx56 -- i'm having the same issue with my brakes. All of a sudden the brake light will come on and when you press on the brake you hear a scary loud grinding sound and trying to stop it really tough.it feels like the abs brakes kicked in --- it has happened several times randomly.as soon as i turned the truck off and restarted it the brake light came off and it started to drive like normal. But i have hit the grass several times bc when this failure occurs you're likely to hit someone in front or, with a sudden grinding stop, someone hit you from behind.i took it to the shop and they said it was a brake issue.so i replaced all 4 brakes and rotors -- yet the problem still happened!!i went back and they said it's probably the delta sensor and it'll be $1000 plus a few hundred to update the computer too.this is very dangerous and the scary part is there is no warning-- it just happens randomly. This is something infiniti / nissan should fix!!
When driving vehicle suddenly makes a loud grinding sound and abs and brake light come on on gauge. When trying to break it is impossible. It will not stop. This has happened more than 6 times already. Thankfully i was not in traffic or collision and injury could have happened. In order to regain control you have to turn vehicle off to reset it. This problem may cause a severe injury or even death.
While driving the emergercny brake dash light will become lit and all braking actions have drastically reduced power. A an audible grinding noise is observed from the front of the vehicle and the brake peddle has little to no resistance. A restart of the vehicle temporarily resolve the issue, but the issue has reoccured numerous times and is increasing in frequency.
While traveling on the highway to another state, i attempted to stop my vehicle, an 2004 infiniti qx56, as traffic slowed and stopped. I pressed the brake pedal and heard a clicking sound and the brake indicator light came on and the vehicle would not stop completely.the pedal began to go to the floor then began to feel stiff. I had to swerve to the side of the road to avoid hitting someone else's vehicle.once i completely stopped, i got out and inspected the brake fluid level, and the brakes and both seemed to be fine. I got back in the vehicle and after i turned the ignition on, the brake indicator had went off and the pedal seemed to be working fine. I traveled on to my destination without any other issues. Once at my destination, i had the brakes inspected and the repair shop said they could not find an issue. This has happened several more times since this incident, and each time when taken to a repair shop, nothing can be found wrong with my brakes.
I have a 2004 qx56 and like many of you, i ma having the same issue with my brakes. The brake light will come on and when i press the brake their is a grinding sound and it is very difficult to stop. I turned the truck off and restarted it and the light went out and you couldn't tell that anything was wrong. I took it to the dealer and was told it was my rotors and they "think" the brake booster.this is a very serious problem and nissan needs to be held accountable and made to fix this issue.!
The brake light came on and a loud clanking noise was heard when you pressed the brakes. Once you stopped cut suv off and cranked it back up it was fine.
While driving at low/high speeds, the brake light will just turn on unexpectedly.also, the abs brakes seem to fail where you have to press the brake pedal to the floor.the only way to temporarily fix this is to turn the engine off and turn it back on for the brake light to go away.again, this will occur at least 1-2 times a day and/or 28 times in a month while driving.this is a very dangerous situation to put a driver in on the highway or other roadways.
The vehicle's brake warning light keeps coming on. Rotors are fine. Brake fluid level is high. Yet, when i apply my foot on the brake, the warning light comes on and there is also a bad sound on the front wheels that sounds like metal to metal (there is a vibration). Once i pull over and turn the vehicle off for a minute or so, i am able to continue. However, the warning light comes back on moments later. This is getting very dangerous as it may trigger me to rear end the vehicle in front of me. The problem has been happening for the past eight months. However, it has been getting worst. The cruise control light also comes and stays on. Please help.
The first time i had issues with my brakes i was fortunate enough to be parked. I turned the vehicle on and tried to releases the emergency brake but the light wouldn't disengage. I put the vehicle in reverse and the applied pressure to the brake but the brakes didn't work. Then the vehicle made a severe grinding noise. I then turned off the vehicle and the problem went away. I then called the dealership and asked if there was a recall for this problem and they said "no". The second time it happened to me i was driving on the road. I notice the brake light turned on, so i slow applied pressed to the brake peddle and the vehicle would stop and began to shake furiously as if it was skidding on the road. Fortunately, their wasn't anyone on the road. The vehicle finally came to a stop and i was lucky enough to pull off the road. I tried pressing the parking brakes to release the light but that didn't work so i tried shutting the vehicle off. I turned the vehicle back on and the light was gone. I slowly began to drive and test the brakes and they work again. I have gone to the dealership and they told me again there was no recall on the issue at hand. The service department said it could be the brake booster but they couldn't find an issue with it so they didn't replace it.
While driving the vehicle and pressing on the brakes there is a loud cranking, grinding noise and the brakes appear to lock up. The slip, vdc off and brake lights illuminate on the dashboard. I will usually have to turn the vehicle off and back on for the lights to go off and to drive the vehicle. This works intermittently.
Passenger air bag light and dash light is on all the time.
I get a brake lightand a slip light sometimes when applying the brakes. Makes an awful noise and sometimes the brakes fail to operate. I have to turn the car off and restart it to reset something and then its fine for a few days and comes back. It is very scary. Others who have the same vehicle have complained of the same thing. Saying they think the brake master cylinder is defective. I have also heard of people crashing their suv because of this. This happens just when applying the brakes. I see this a lot in the forums and wonder why they haven't recalled this dangerous defect. This has been happening numerous times in the past 5 years.
While the car is in motion the red brake light will turn on and when you press the brake pedal the car slows down but makes a loud thumping noise, and you can feel like a spring on the brake pedal vibrating, if you turn off the vehicle, it resets for a while but now it is happening constantly. The brake pads and rotors are new.
Coming up to a stop light i press on the brake and it goes to the floor and the abs kicks in for no reason. I almost went through the red light. All of the brake, slip, vdc lights came on suddenly. I turned the truck off and back on again and everything is fine.
Car was being driven at approximately 40 mph when the brakes vibrated significantly and failed to engage at an intersection nearly causing an accident.an infiniti dealer indicated that the brake booster had malfunctioned.
The contact stated that the brakes pulsated and made an abnormal grinding noise. The check engine and abs warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the brakes functioned normally. The brake master cylinder was replaced, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 68,000.
Complete brake system failure - this is the 3rd time, same exact symptoms.brake light on dash comes on, computer noises beeping behind dash, brake pedal looses all pressure, vehicle unsafe, crash was imminent, if we had been traveling at highway speeds there would have been death.brake pedal pushed all the way to the floor front brakes began making severe grinding noises, vehicle virtually incapable of stopping.this is a severe problem.previous failure on 3.30.11 at 68kmiles, 1st failure on 8.20.10 at 57k miles.at 70k miles dealer reprogrammed vdc control as 'fix'........guess what it did not fix it........this needs to be a factory recall item asap, and/or a class action lawsuit before someone is killed>
Stepped on brakes and pedal went all the way to floorboard with outstopping the suv. Suv finally stopped on speed bump a few feet away. Looked in the internet, there are other people with same problem. There is also a couple suing nissan for this very problem. I think nissan should be held responsible. The problem i understand isin the brake power booster. It should havebeing recall.
While driving the vehicle and pressing on the brakes there is a cranking, grindingnoise and the brakes appears to lock up the slip. Vdc offlight illuminate on the dashboard, brakes not working properly.
Driving with my two young children about 35 mph when i depressed the brakes the car shuttered badly on the front end and the peddle went all the way to the floor and the vehicle barely slowed down.luckily there was no-one in front of me or i would have crashed.problem continued until the vehicle was turned off and re-started.extremely dangerous!!!many other similar accounts and it doesn't sound like there is a difinitive resolution to the problem even after spending thousands at the dealerships.
Poor braking with my qx56 sometimes i have to slam them just to get them to work.constant vibration even with new rotors and pads.this is seriously a horrible safety issue.
Yesterday april 10,2012 i was driving and need to stop the my qx56 i feel a complete brake failure, brake warning light on and a loud noise under the vehicle. Brake pedal doing all the down to the floor. After turning the vehicle off and restart, everything turn back to the normal and warning light gone. This is serious issue and manufacturer should fix the problem before any body die.
Today, while my wife was driving our 2004 infiniti qx56 with 106,134 miles, she experienced a complete brake failure, along with the "brake" dashboard warning light.it was described to me as the steering wheel and brake pedal shaking, a loud noise from under the vehicle, and the brake pedal going all the way to the floor.this exact same issue is all over the infiniti qx56 / nissan armada forum, the internet, and www.mycarstats.com site to which i'm a subscriber.it's ridiculous that with the number of stated occurrences of this failure on these vehicles that a formal recall has not been mandated to correct this problem.as with most of the other reports of this happening, turning off and restarting the vehicle eliminated the "brake" warning light and the normal pedal feel returned to our vehicle.there is at least one report of this failure resulting in a severe, almost fatal, accident and i'm sure if actually investigated that there are probably more.nissan - infiniti - nhtsa: do something formal about this immediately before someone, their wife, and or children are hurt or killed!
While driving qx56 at approx 40 mph brake light on dash came on. At intersection to turn left brakes would not function and slowing down was difficult. There was a loud clunk and "boing" sound when brakes were applied. Turned to avoid traffic and started up hill allowing speed to decrease. Motor was turned off. When restarted to examine failure light was no longer on and brake seemed to work fine. Contacted local infinity dealer, was told it was brake booster and would most likely need replaced. Was told there was no service bulletin or recall but they have seen the issue quite a few times.
The contact owns a 2004 infiniti q-x56. The vehicle was having a routine oil change when the dealer informed him that the front brake pads were defective. The brake pads were replaced at that time. While driving home from the dealer at unknown speeds, the brakes did not feel normal and took the vehicle back to the dealer. The dealer advised that the brakes were normal and would feel uncomfortable until they were broken in. The next day while driving at 55 mph and applying the brakes, the brakes would not engage and the contact crashed into a guard rail. The contact suffered injuries to his right foot. The vehicle was destroyed. The contact was transported to the hospital and one third of his foot was amputated due to the injury sustained in the crash. A police report was available. The manufacturer sent an investigator to further assess the failure in the vehicle but was ruled as inconclusive due to the extensive damage to the vehicle. The manufacturer advised the contact to address the failure with his insurance company. The failure mileage was 100,000.
The contact owns a 2004 infiniti qx56. The contact was driving 30 mph when the brakes were depressed and a grinding noise emitted as the vehicle failed to stop properly. The emergency brake light illuminated during the failure. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired and the vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 105,000 and thecurrent mileage was 135,000.
This 95% total break failure has happened 2 separate times 8/2010 and 3/2011; and while no accident, there could easily have been one had i been traveling at a higher rate of speed, or if there had been other vehicles around me.applied break, immediately brake pedal sunk to the floor, break light on dash came on, front breaks began making harsh grinding sounds (as when slip control enacts); had there been cars in front of me i would not have been able to stop w/out hitting them.even with foot to floor vehicle did not stop, down shifted into 1st gear, and finally vehicle slowed and was able to stop.pulled over and turned off car; after turning car back on brake light on dash had gone away and brakes were acting normal. This is a major safety hazard and someone may die from this. The front discs on this vehicle are no good even after infiniti/nissan has done theirso called repair and continue to prematurely warp.a class action law suit needs to be formed to deal resolve this matter indefinitely. Dealer subsequently reprogramed vdc control.
Severe brake judder for 3 months, brakes have now completely failed , unable to drive car,(2)driver seat memory has failed,(3) rear window washer has failed, (4)driver seat coming apart, (5) windshield washer reservoir will not hold water.
2004 infiniti experienced shuddering in the brakes.the dvd player stopped working, the drivers seat memory was inoperative.
The contact owns a 2004 infiniti qx56. The contact was driving approximately 60 mph when he depressed the brakes and lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was advised that the rotors were severely warped. The dealer made five separate attempts to repair the failure but to no avail. The manufacture was informed of the failure who advised the contact that there were no recalls on the vehicle and offered no additional assistance. The vehicle was not repaired. The current mileage was 46,200 and the failure mileage was 10,200.
While applying brakes, the steering column shakes. After servicing, the same problem continued to have the same problem after 3000 miles.
Tla* the contact owns 2004 infinity quiz. While driving at approximately 30 mph, when the brake pedal was applied it went down to the floor, made a loud noise and failed to operate. The abs brake light illuminated after the failure occurred. The contact shifted the gear from fourth gear to first gear to slow the vehicle down. The manufacturer took a report and advised the contact to take the vehicle to the dealer to be diagnosed, because there was not a recall or a technical service bulletin for the brake failure. The failure mileage was 89,000 and the current mileage was 99,008. Updated10/22/10the consumer stated there is a failure in the sensor inside the brake booster. Updated10/26/10
At approximately8k miles the dealer replaced the rotors and calipers per their service bulletin which seemed to solve the problem. Since then, periodically while driving, the brake light will illuminate when brakes are applied and the abs system activates and the brakes begin to groan, are spongy, have less than 10% braking power. This has happened to me 5 times over 90k miles. Although i did not make the connection at the time, i believe that it was the cause of a rear end collision that i was involved in2008 when i attempted to brake the car on the freeway but felt that the car took much too long to come to a complete stop when i quickly slammed on the brakes.the vehicle continues these symptoms until the ignition is turned off. When restarted, the problem is resolved. It has mostly only occurred to me while driving away from a parking spot but yesterday it occurred while i was driving on the freeway at speed exceeding 50 mph. I was only able to stop the vehicle by downshifting my automatic to 1st gear while attempting to activate the emergency brake. I was fortunate that i was on a level freeway and not going down a steep incline. After i was able to safely pull over, the ignition was turned off and the car was restarted with no brake problems. Today i took the car into the infiniti dealer and they said that it was a 'common problem' but not a recall and that they would try to reprogram the computer. Reprogramming did not work and they said i would need a new abs booster pump at a cost to me of $925. I looked up the problem on consumer websites and found that the problem is fairly common with both the 2004 nissan titan and armada and the infiniti qx56. It seems to be a problem with the c1179 code. What i discovered is that any consumers still had the problem even after they reprogrammed the computer and replaced the abs booster pump. A service bulletin repair exists for the 2004 nissan titan (nhtsa item number: 10020026). This is a serious safety concern.
Major coolant issue. Replaced 4 radiators, 1 water pump. All upper and lower hoses. Dealer hashad suv in more than 9 times this year with same issue. While driving coolant smell is in vents. Up the hood and its splashed all over the manifold. Also abs issue. Braking mech makes metal to metal sound and if u cut off car and turn back on.. It resumes as normal.
I have had my vehicle in for repair a total of 6 times for the brakes.6/05 and 9/05 for a shudder and squeak issue.4/06, 8/06, 9/06 and 11/06 for a complete brake failure issue.the dealer does not seem to be able to fix the problem and it is a safety hazard to drive the vehicle.there is no warning when the brakes fail.
Periodically, on the order of once every month or two months, the antilock brakes become erratic. The pedal goes soft and the brakes engage extremely violently. When it happened the first time i pulled over to the side of the road and called my infiniti dealer. I kept the engine running while i explained what happened and was told to turn off the engine, wait about ten seconds and then restart the suv. The brakes worked normally after that. I was told the "computer had to be re-booted". This continues to happen on and off about every month or two. Never was given a satisfactory explanation as to why this occurs. When it happens if there is no traffic around, i put the car into neutral, turn off the key, then restart the car and the problem resolves. If i am in traffic i slow down gingerly, then pull off to the side of the road and turn off the key and restart the engine. This resolves the problem until the next time.
Faulty brakes.
1.i purchased an infiniti qx56 suv in febuary 2005. In mid march, at 2500 miles, the steering wheel began to shake violently when i tried to stop the car. Any time the brakes were applied the shaking would begin.. The entire car would shake every time we hit a bump. From the beginning, it would be very difficult to bring the car to a stop.2.fortunately we caught the problem before a complete brake failure, as we have 2 young children who are in the car daily. 3.we were told by infiniti that there is a brake defect in the design of the car.according the service technicians at the dealership, the brakes and rotors were not engineered properly and will be problematic every 3000 miles. For now, the dealership replaced the rotors and brakes.
Infiniti qx56 2004 model purchased new from roseville infiniti dealer(actual dealer name sacramento infiniti)november 1, 2004.by february 16,2005applying brakes caused severe shaking of the steering wheel.taken into service after 5,945 miles.returned with brake pads replaced on front wheels and rotors surfaced.the shaking/vibration problem has begun again at 10,141 milesmay 4, 2005.the vechile will be going into service asap.
The brakes had to be repaired at 6,000 miles then again at 14,000 miles and now again at 21,500. The pulsationwas so bad that the wheel shook, and it was unsafe.it was an engineering flaw. Brakes were not designed for a vehicle of this weight.
I've had the same problems with the brakes, shimmering of vehicle, and also the sunroof.there needs to be a recall and a new design of the calipers, before someone is killed!the cust. Serv. At infiniti of irvine is the worst!
Well, add me to the list (and i believe it's becomming a long one) of infiniti qx56 owners who are experiencing major front brake rotor issues (shuddering under braking).i've also had my navigation system drive and disc replace and the new one doesn't have anywhere near the street detail the original one did.i'm also having the false backup sensor warning tones happen as well.
The front brakes on my 2004 infiti qx56 began squeaking and shuddering in mid july 2004 at appoximately 5000 miles.the brake repair parts were not available until september 24, 2004.at this writing 09/29/04, the vehicle remains at the dealer awaiting a replacement front passenger seat adjustment assembly that took two months to arrive.it turns out the wrong part was ordered requiring a reorder of the part.my vehicle has been promised to me by 09/30/04!
The brakes do not to operate when they are applied at different speeds. Taken for repair for brakes and rotors for a total of 3 times, but the problem still occurs.
While driving at various speedssteering wheel shook real hard while applying the brakes. Took vehicle to dealer for service, and dealer determined it was determinedtha tit was warped brake rotors.
Infiniti qx56 has brake system design flaw.front brakes need replacement on average every 4-6000 miles.brake rotors are too small which causes rotor warpage.as a result, the steering wheel shutters back and forth when brakes are applied.there is no fix for this from nissan.this is brake design flaw also effects similar platforms such as the armada and the titan.there also is a design flaw in the front end which causes the steering wheel to shake violently when going over bumps at speeds in excess of 45 mph.hitting certain bumps in the road can cause the front end to go into resonance, thus shaking the steering wheel enough to loose control of vehicle.
I purchased an infiniti qx56 in may 2004 had brakes problems after only 3,000 miles brought vehicle to dealer in august 2004 they replaced the rotors and calipers.had the same problem again in december 2004 at 6,700 miles, dealer again replaced rotors. Again in may 2005 at 10,321 miles brought the vehicle back to the dealer they again replaced the rotors and break pads, i was told that there was a defect with these vehicles braking system but that they were going to update therotors and that will correct this problem for good. In may 2005 brought the vehicleback for the installation of the updated rotors but now at 19,000 miles, i'm stillhaving brake problems the steering wheel shakes when applying the brakes orwhen driving over rough pavement. Called dealer today to file complaint.i would like to know if the lemon law applies under these circumstances.
Failure or brake rotors on brand new infinity qx56 @ 2000 miles.found out on internet that this is a common nationwide problem with all new nissan armada's and infinity qx56's.dealer wants to resurface defective rotors.i do not think the veh. Is safe to drive.
2004 infiniti qx56 developed the following problems:braking defect, and the driver's window would not roll up.***no answer required*** *mr the steering wheel would shake vigorously when the brakes were applied. The rotors had warped for the third time.*sc
The contact owns a 2004 infiniti qx56. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle stalled and the steering wheel became hard to maneuver. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the ipdm box failed and needed replacement. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact also stated that there was a manufacturers recall related to the failure but the vin was not included. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 139,000.
Entire steering column assembly became completely loose, moving up and down (while underway, stopped, or when vehicle is turned off).the entire column from all the way into thedash, thru the column to the steering wheel moves (uncontrollably) up and down causing seriously unsafe steering and loose of control and risk of a crash. Bearing and surrounding components within steering column loose/sheering and coming apart.contact me for infiniti/nissan class action lawsuit at infiniticlassactionlawsuit at gmail.
I have a 2004 infiniti qx 56 with 88000 miles on it. On thursday 2/14/13 steering wheel turned to the rightat 180 degree. On friday 2/15/13 slip indicator and vdc appeared on the dash.called the dealer and told to bring in the vehicle. When i got to the dealer the steering was completely lost. The steering wheel turned to a 360 degree freely and the tires did not move. The service dept. Came back and told me that the steering column/shaft was gone and would cost approx.$4000.00 to fix. I contacted infiniti consumer affairs on 2/19/13 and was told they would open a claim and hear back in a business day. I called on 2/21/13 and still haven't heard anything. In the meantime the vehicle has been repaired at my cost. At that mileage and the top of the line vehicle of infiniti i don't think that problem shouldof happened. I am grateful that i wasn't on the road 2 minutes more than i was because it could of been a lot worse. On 2/21/13 when i received a call from service that the vehicle is ready i was told that it also needs a power steering pump in addition to the repair stated above. I believe thatis a safety issue with the steering.
The vehicles engine made a pinging noise while the consumer was driving .the vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that they were waiting for an answer from the tech line.
I have complained over the course of 4-6 months about the cruise control going out.it either goes out completely, or the cruise control without smart following goes out.when it does go out, bumping the increase speed button causes the engine to idle thuslosing speed.expecially bad on the interstate.the dealer claims they cannot find the problem (denied this problem 3 times now).seems funny when there is a tsb to cover the work.date here is date of last service to repair paint which is chipping off the front..down to bare metal, and then metal rusting...which is a whole different can of worms.
Takata recallpaint is fading in different places clear coat has faded away this has happened over the pass couple of years

I replace my altanator and always had a problemwith the rpm gauge? it dose not moveor sometimes stays at the 6/7 and as of recently the car looses power and almost crashed on the freewayalso i bought this car in 2014
While applying brakes, the steering column shakes. After servicing, the same problem continued to have the same problem after 3000 miles.

The emc relay is bad. I have a letter saying it was a recall.. As i was driving the car just shut off. If you waited a little while it would start up again but it seemed that when it got hot it would shut down again. It cost me 102.00 for tow truck and the dealership is charging me 160.00 an hour to check what it is. They say there is no recall but i have letter in front of me.
My gas gauge is always not correct. I only rely on the time and how much i filled it. Several incidents that it didn't start, even the gas gauge in the dashboard says its full but it's empty. I did talked to the mechanic he told me that there's a recall for it from the national safety but every time i brought my vehicle the dealer will deny it and says that the vin number says no history of recall.the speedometer and rpm not reading accurately, the dealer says i have to change the whole dash board, but when i went to the other mechanic he says it's the ipdm and on i was googling about any recall for this problem and found it to your site about recall but the dealer again says there's no recall in vin number. In your website it seems like the engine and engine cooling which i paid them to fix it.engine light is always on, the mechanic says about exhaust manifold need to be replace, nissan material can break easily.i spend more the $4500 fixing this and that. Excluding the expenses that i had from the dealer shop.
Severe brake judder for 3 months, brakes have now completely failed , unable to drive car,(2)driver seat memory has failed,(3) rear window washer has failed, (4)driver seat coming apart, (5) windshield washer reservoir will not hold water.

We turned rear a/c on and it didn't work, but front did.

2004 infiniti qx56 developed the following problems:braking defect, and the driver's window would not roll up.***no answer required*** *mr the steering wheel would shake vigorously when the brakes were applied. The rotors had warped for the third time.*sc
The vehicles engine made a pinging noise while the consumer was driving .the vehicle was taken to the dealer who indicated that they were waiting for an answer from the tech line.
