I have experienced the same problems with the bose / clarion stereo system that many other people have.out of the blue one day, i received several clicking noises while trying to play a cd.after a minute or two of the clicking sound, err 2 appeared on the display.i was able however, to retrieve my cd's by ejecting them the normal way.
My bose radio/cd player in my 2001 qx4 infinti truck is displaying an error message of err2. Cd's are stuck in the player and it makes a clicking sound every time the car is turned on. Called the dealer and infiniti will not take responsibility to replace.
I have a 2001 infiniti and the clarion manufactured bose 5 disc cd changer now registers a err2 message and clicks everytime i turn it on.
I get an err 2 on my 6 disc cd player in my 2001 qx4.i have tried everything to get my cd's to exit the player, no luck.is there a resolution?i have tried pushing all combinations of buttons to release the cds.i just got the err 2 and it has never gone away.cd's will not play or reject, very frustrating, my favorite cds are stuck in player.
Err2 message on bose cd changer. Cds won't play. This problem is common to this model and is very expensive to repair. It is clearly a manufacturing design defect.
Cd player failure.displays "err 2" message - will not play or eject the 5 cd in unit. Clicks each time car is started.
The built-on running boards (these are not an add-on feature to the vehicle, but came standard on all qx-4s) have brackets and a tubular steel support beams that support the weight of any passenger stepping on them to enter the vehicle.the support beam and support brackets have entirely rusted away; there is little to no other rust on other areas of the vehicle.a local body shop identified and notified the owner of the danger associated with non-supported running boards.a consumer could easily be injured if stepping on the running boards to enter the vehicle and having them collapse.the injury certainly could be more acute for elderly, disabled, or children in the event of a collapse.the tubular steel support beams and brackets have no rust inhibitor on them while the other metal sections of the running boards were coated with rust inhibitor and show no rust.there was a design flaw either associated with the type of metal used or a lack of rust inhibitor on the parts that have disintegrated.the cost to replace is quite exorbitant and the replacements may have the same design flaw.the short term solution has been to entirely remove the running boards off of the vehicle to eliminate the danger.this makes for a tall vertical step-in, but is less risky then the faulty running boards.

Bose/clarion nissan/infiniti in-dash 6 disc changer problems caused by plastic gears being used for loading and disc switching mechanisms.symptoms may be err1, err2, err3, or other err messages along with a clicking sound from the cd changer assembly.this particular cd changer has been repaired at least 3 documented time.i am the second owner and spoke to the previous owner after doing some research.after viewing the service manual and seeing the failed parts, you can see the parts are made of plastic that will eventually get brittle and crack or strip out during normal usage.

Oem bose cd changer (made by clarion corp>) failed for second time.
My bose 6 disc changer has the error code err2. Does not work.
I own a 2001 infiniti qx4.the factory clarion/bose cd head unit is registering an error code "err 2" and the cd's won't play or eject.this is the second time in 3 years this has happened.the first time it was covered under warranty.now, clarion won't accept the unit directly from the customer and requires a dealer to repair/install through clarion.i believe this to be fraud.if you search online for qx4 or pathfinder and "err 2" you will discover that this is a widespread problem among qx4/pathfinder owners.this unit should be recalled, but nissan and/or clarion are to date refusing to take responsibility for this manufacturing defect or correcting the source problem.this practice is creating artificial demand for a repair service that does nothing but guarantee repeat repair service in the future. My existing unit is labeled "remanufactured" in the rear, and i assume it was previously repaired for the same reason.i want a replacement without charge.
I have a 2001 infiniti qx4 with the bose 6 disk cd changer.the cd changer stopped working around 78,000 miles.it would read error2.i have sent numerous emails to nissan with no reply.clarion made this cd player for nissan, but got so overwhelmed with repairs that they stopped taking repairs from customers.now they force you to go through your dealership to get the unit repaired which costs even more money.once the unit reads err2 you cannot retrieve any of your cds and of course the unit will not play the cds either.this web forum http://forum.ecoustics.com/cgi-bin/bbs/show.pl?4/137782 will show you the 100's if not 1000's of people who have been affected.clarion is having a hard time stocking this part, but they nor nissan are offering to fix the unit or admit poor production.i had to use an outside vendor and it still cost me $300.

I just want to say to infiniti why they didn't keep on building this car! i mean mine has 111,111 and it stills runs like new no problem at all! i have the infiniti qx4 2001 gold pearl 4x4 navigation system 6 dis cd changer in the back of the car not the one in the dash and this car still performs like when it was taken out of the dealer in 2001.i would like to now why they discontinued the production and just to say the how many more rx300 lexus is going to keep selling before infiniti comes back which a competition! infiniti bring back qx4 now!

My wife was driving our qx4 infiniti and while attempting to park the vehicle, it suddenly accelerated; she applied full pressure to the brakes; the car jumped over the curb and rammed into a concrete utility pole. Car was towed by infiniti back to montgomery, al. A full report was done by an infiniti rep; we have heard nothing to date from consumer affairs. We are having to lease a car at our own expense. We have no one at infiniti who can give us any information as to what is going to happen in this incident. We are afraid to operate the vehicle again until we know what the problem was and that it has been resolved. We were not injured and the only property damage was to the car itself.
Infiniti q 4, 2001 gas leak- ring neck to gas tank fails , corrodes, leaking gas onto rear left tire area. Apparently, have had numerous incidents since when discovered, there is a sizeable backorder for part in question-dangerous, fuelleaks openly.

2001 infiniti qx4recall notice of faulty or defective fuel filter. Consumer states that there is an insufficient amount of coating at the lower mounting brackets. This problem could cause fuel leak for perforation of the fuel filter tube.
I was smelling gas fumes while my car was parked in the garage.i could see something wet in the wheel well near where the gas tank is filled.had it repaired at my infiniti dealer, and they replaced the fuel filler tube and hoses.it reminded me of a recall notice i received in 2008.it was for the fuel filler tube and hoses.they were know to have corroded due to exposure to road salts.i had my car inspected in 2008 and they said everything was ok at the time.however, being able to smell fumes in my garage, i know that it corroded through.the dealer and infiniti consumer affairs state that because i don't live in their derived list of states that "regularly use salt in the winter", that i am not eligible for free replacement of the defective part.i do travel through a couple of the affected states, but the car is not registered in one.the recall notice states:"because your qx4 is not registered in one of the above states, it does not have to be repaired.however, at your request, your infiniti dealer will inspect, and if necessary, replace the fuel filler tube assembly with a new one with an improved coating process.this free service should take about one and a half hours..."the notice also states to "leave this notice in your qx4 for any future owners."this tells me there is no length of time where the recall notice becomes inactive.it was inspected at the time and no repairs were necessary then.however, the problem did develop, and now they do not consider it meeting the criteria of the recall.i think it matches exactly.....updated 10-27-15

Manufacturer is aware of problem, insists that computer needs reprogramming. Transmission failed road test by mechanic and a long list of owners awaiting remanufactured transmission boxes (according to dealer service department at fields infiniti glenview).transmission boxes need to be ordered from japan, resulting in one month delay of repair.two technical service bulletins already exist for same problem.
Transmission slippage when transmission is shifting from 2nd to 3rd during cold weather during moderate acceleration. Known service bulletin, nhtsa #62304.
I have found that the brake and accelerator pedals are too close together, making it easy to hit the gas instead of the brake. There are several complaints about sudden acceleration and i would believe that might be the cause.i am a small person with average size feet and have had two scary incidents with this issue. Also have the broken radio problems affecting nearly every owner which shouldbe a class action lawsuit.
The contact owns a 2001 infinity qx4. The contact was driving 45 mph when the brakes were depressed but the vehicle failed to stop. The contact was forced to crash into a tree in order to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was destroyed and the contact was reported injured. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer, and the manufacturer was not contacted. The failure and current mileages were 96,000.
The foot brake did not work while attempting to stop, consumer had no control and skidded about 80-85 feet until the vehicle stopped one foot from another vehicle, dealer was unable to duplicate the problem.nlm
Drivers side shock tower broke (i believe due to ohio salt and weather corrosion) broke steering intermediate shaft and caused complete loss of steering. At that time i informed the local infiniti dealer, and infiniti customer service, supplied them with numerous photos, because of the potential safetyissue and basically was told by both to bad, and that it was my problem they where not interested in the safety issue.
My 13-year-old and severely rusted infiniti 4wd suv has been recalled for corrosion problems at the driver-side strut tower. I will be towing it to the dealership for an inspection because i'm afraid to drive it. My car has a fist-sized hole through the fender well in the area described in the recall notice, so it is probably not repairable. But my car also has a rusted out and severely weakened unibody frame at another critical area that would certainly cause a loss of control and probably a crash when it is finally stressed to the breaking point. This area is on the front passenger-side where the mounting pad for the a-frame rear pivot point attaches to the frame. I have made the dealership aware of this and sent them some pictures, and they referred me to the manufacturer's customer service representative. He told me that the dealership may refuse to do the recall repair, after evaluating my car, unless i have the "other damage" (which would render the car unsafe) repaired prior to their inspection. If they don't do the recall repair, or determine that it is beyond repair (based entirely on the area affected by the recall), my car may be disqualified from the repurchase program remedy. I may be required to tow my car off of their lot to avoid storage fees. This seems like a manufacturer loophole, they have the right to refuse to do the recall because of other problems, and disqualify my car for a remedy? they have accepted responsibility for the lack of corrosion protection in one critical area, but not for others? what could i, as a car owner, have done to prevent this damage? i feel it's the manufacturer that is at fault. A $35,000 car should last longer than 13 years! so i am submitting this complaint in case others have had the same problem as i and to help force the manufacturer to take ownership of this serious manufacturing flaw and issue a recall.
The contact owns a 2001 infiniti qx4.the contact stated while driving between 50 and 70 mph the vehicle would rock violently from the front end, which could potentially make the driver loose control of the vehicle. Neither the dealer nor manufacturer were contacted regarding the failure. The failure was not repaired. The failure mileage was 188,000 and the current mileage was 191,000.
The contact owns a 2001 infiniti qx4. While driving approximately 15 mph, the contact stated that the steering wheel became loose and difficult to control. The vehicle was towed to a private mechanic where they performed a diagnostic test which confirmed that the steering shaft needed to be replaced. The contact did not inform the manufacturer nor was the vehicle repaired. The current and failure mileages were approximately 162,000.
The suv has been recalled for unusual rusting of the entire underside, the nhtsa said the struts may rust and break away from the body, that is happening. We called the nissan dealer in winchester virginia, they lied and said there is no such recall.
The contact owns a 2001 infiniti qx4. Upon inspecting the vehicle, it was noticed that there was severe corrosion of the frame near the strut on the driver's side. The contact took the vehicle to an independent mechanic where it was repaired. The contact was reimbursed. Shortly after the repair, the same failure occurred on the passenger side of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was corrosion on the passenger side. The vehicle was serviced per nhtsa campaign number: 11v244000 (steering, suspension) but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The contact stated that the frame continued to corrode after the recall repair. The contact stated that the recall repair did not adequately repair the failure with the excessive corrosion. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Unsupported running boards are a safety hazard. Updated 10/19/2011 *ln
I believe the car's running boards are a safety hazard due to serious rust damage causing weakness of the underlying structure.the hazard can manifest itself as the running boards can easy fail and the driver or any passenger can fall as a result.this is a common problem for qx4s from model years 1997 to 2002 or later.obviously, it is worse for older cars in area's where salt is used on the roads in winter. I petitioned inifinitito investigate the hazard and consider rectifying it.they claimed rust damage was not covered and would do nothing. However, i note they in fact had a strut housing recall for our qx4 to fix rust damage.
The contact owns a 2001 infinti qx4. The contact stated that the frame was rusted on the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (infiniti of akron located at 3332 s arlington rd akron, oh 44312), but was not repaired because the frame needed to be replaced and was not covered under the recall remedy. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but was unable to offer assistance. The recall details were not provided. The failure mileage was 154,000.
My complaint is with the 2001 infiniti qx4 that i have owned for several years although it has low mileage 60,000 + it has cost me more money in repairs including the current recall for under body rust. I have gone through mufflers and other front end parts and my new mechanic even commented about the large amount of rust. I now have a grinding noise and it is probably wheel bearing hubs. A garaged car should not have these issues, this recall should extend to my exhaust which again needs replacing, and my grinding noise which i believe is related to the rust issue.
The contact owns a 2001 infiniti qx4. The contact stated front driver side wheel well rusted and separated from the frame of the vehicle. The shock pushed up from the left front of the vehicle and pushed against the master cylinder which broke the steering shaft, causing him to lose control of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to a local repair facility. The mechanic advised that the failure was beyond repair. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. We were on vacation in orange beach, alabama. While returning from a shopping trip to foley, alabama, we were pulling in to the parking space in front of our condo; my wife, judy, was driving our infiniti qx4 2001 suv. As we came to a stop the car engine suddenly accelerated "wide open" and my wife put her right foot on the brake pedal, exclaiming "something is wrong, i can't stop this car!"we went over a curb and hit a concrete utility pole which finally stopped the motion of the suv. We were not injured. We have filed a complaint with the auto manufacturer. They have sent a rep to do a complete "test" of the vehicle. To date, we have not heard anything regarding the results of their testing.
