My 2000 infiniti qx4 had a visual inspection done at theinfiniti of bellevue wa on aug 4, 2008 and determined that there was enough coating to prevent corrosion from occurring due to a recall.the vehicle is now leaking fuel during fill ups and when it is topped off. A visual is not an acceptable practice of measuring thickness of a conversion coating. The dealership verified the issue on october 27 2015 and the infiniti corp will not honor the recall because it does not want to open the recall. This is an extremely dangerous issue when fueling the car it is spilling on to the ground at the gas station and could ignite. There is numerous complaints about this fuel filler and a lack of product to fix it. Due to this inadequate inspection the safety of the public has not been achieved, the recall should be reopened.recall number: 07v435000recall date: 09/18/2007component: fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly:filler pipe and capproblem summary: on certain vehicles originally sold in or currently registered in the states of connecticut, delaware, iowa, illinois, indiana, kentucky, massachusetts, maine, maryland, michigan, minnesota, new hampshire, new jersey, new york, ohio, pennsylvania, rhode island, tennessee, vermont, virginia, west virginia , wisconsin and the district of columbia, during the coating process of the fuel filler tube assembly, an insufficient amount of coating may have been applied at the lower mounting bracket. This could result in an opening in the coating which can allow water to enter and make contact with the bare metal of the tube.consequence: xxx corrosion may occur to a degree which results in perforation of the tube. In this case fuel leakage may occur when filling the tank. Fuel leakage, in the presence of an ignition source, could result in a fire.

The contact owns a 2000 infiniti qx4. The contact stated that corrosion of the strut tower housing caused the power steering column to fracture. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the steering column was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 195,000.

Serious corrosion on the frame. The passenger side of the vehicle where the control arm attaches to the frame is completely rusted out just beyond the strut mount recall location. The dealership deemed it not able to be fixed and was told by both the dealership and consumer affairs that its not their problem. While driving 55 mph i started hearing a knocking noise in the right front. Soon after the wheel started shaking while turning left. Knocking got worse and it started to sway uncontrollably while turning. Had it towed to dealership where it is still sitting and not able to be driven.updated 08/29/2017

Based on my my mechanics advise i had vehicle inspected by infiniti dealer and learned that frame of the vehicle rusted thru mounting point of rf lower control arm and unsafe to operate. Based on my mechanics advise, i contacted infiniti. I explained them that this vehicle only has 136,900 miles and should not have rusted like this. I truly believe that infiniti messed up the metallurgy or used cheap steel to manufacture this car. Infiniti recited the several recalls like strut tower and filler tube rust and said there is nothing they can do. I like these vehicles to be looked at again for the severe rust issues that makes these vehicles unsafe and can cause accidents.

Unusually high amount of, rust & corrosion (large rotted out holes) on exterior front fenders, both driver side and passenger. I beleive it is related to most recent recal in regards to front wheel wells in high salt locations of the country. Dealer would not fix the rust, when i went in for that recall. No other rust on vehicle, only those areas of front fenders, which happen to be right next to defective wheels well / strut housing area, that was the reason for the most recent recall!the rust / corrosion, is on the identical location on each fender! i am no expert, but based on the extreme amount of bubbling of the paint it is obvious the corrosion started on the underside of both fenders and worked its way out to the exterior.

The contact owns a 2000 infiniti qx4. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, all steering control was lost. The contact was able to maneuver the vehicle to the shoulder of the road where it was stopped. The vehicle was then towed home and inspected by an independent mechanic, who stated that there was corrosion on the front drivers side frame, which detached and fractured the steering shaft. The steering shaft was replaced and the front drivers side frame was repaired. The driver and passenger side running boards were also repaired due to corrosion. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The contact also stated that while driving at various speeds, the accelerator pedal would intermittently become stuck in a partially depressed position. In order to release the pedal, the contact would apply excessive pressure to the accelerator pedal as well as the brake pedal. The vehicle had not been inspected for the accelerator pedal failure. The approximate failure mileage was 198,000.

The contact owns a 2000 infiniti qx4. The contact was driving approximately 50-55 mph over a road bump when the vehicle exhibited an unusual hollow noise. The vehicle was taken to a local mechanic where the contact was advised that the a frame had rotted out near the struts. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the dealer advised the contact that the steering shaft assembly would need replacing. The contact stated he advised the dealer that the a frame was rotted and was pushing against the steering shaft, causing the failure. The contact stated the vehicle was not safe to drive. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was not available. The failure and current mileage was 215,000.

I was told about a recall on this vehicle due to frame body strut housing corrosion, i'm hearing a clicking sound as i proceed to make turns now. I took it in to be looked at to see if noise i was hearing could be repaired, upon the mechanic placing the vehicle on the lift he noticed the corrosion on front end of the strut housing.

Took my 2000 infiniti qx4 in for an oil change at local nissan dealer.service dept told me that the frame was rusted so badly that it was no longer safe to drive. The hole they found was the size of my fist located on the frame directly behind the passenger side front wheel.the vehicle was sold to me 5 months previous from a ford dealership with a small warranty. The frame issue was not disclosed at time of sale. The vehicle had performance problems such as wobbling and shaking after 55 mph. I had purchased new tires hoping to alleviate problem as the car was sold with unacceptable tread on all four tires.

Driving the vehicle at highway speeds when severe steering wheel vibration began.checked front suspension and discovered that the right side (passenger side) frame was completely rotted away at the connection point of the lower control arm.this resulted in the separation of the frame/control arm from its normal position and the right wheel was no longer stable or held in proper geometry. This created a very hazardous safety related issue without any warning.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection as i was aware of the strut tower defect on the left side of the vehicle.the dealer informed me that my strut tower was not corroded and could be repaired although the failure to the frame on the opposite side of the vehicle was not part of the recall.infinity was contacted and evaluated 3 photos sent by the dealer.they informed me that this was not a defect and that i live in the salt belt.im no rocket scientist but that's why the strut tower recall was issued in the salt belt states, (corrosion).previous recall for corrosion of the fuel fill tube.i believe a pattern is emerging.my research revealed that other vehicles of this type are exhibiting the same failure and have been met with deaf ears at infinity motor division.this is a serious safety issue and should be investigated.the left side frame was in normal condition and exposed to the same salt and elements as the right side.the only difference between sides is the air conditioning drain is directly over the failure site allowing water to constantly contact the frame when the air conditioning is used.

I was the owner of 2000 qx4 with the strut tower housing on the driver sidecorroding away that cannot be fixed.any one who has this problem please be aware that the tower will push up against the master cylinder and will cause brake failure had to trade the car could only 1.500.00 trade mileage on car 200500.8 it was a good car before the corrosion.

The contact owns a 2000 infiniti qx4. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, he heard a loud noise coming from the vehicle and the more bumps he drove over, the louder the noise became. The vehicle was taken to a dealer and they informed him that the lower control arm had rusted and they were unable to repair the vehicle due to the severity of the corrosion. The dealer stated that if the vehicle was driven, he could have experienced a deadly crash. The vehicle had not been repaired and the contact was paid cash to junk the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 130,600.
