The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. While driving approximately 25 mph, another vehicle crashed into the driver side of the contact's vehicle. The air bags failed to deploy. The contact sustained a back injury that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer for repair, but the failure was not diagnosed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 15,832.
The passenger air bag sensor that controls the light showing if the system is on or off was serviced last year due to light being on when an adult was seated - recall 16v-244.the system worked for a couple of months and then stopped working, light remained on with adults seated.sometimes the system worked and other time sit did not.on tuesday march 29th, the airbag light was on for over 30 minutes and i stopped at the dealer to show them the problem.the light turned off just as the tech was looking at the problem.they suggested making a video of the passenger sitting while driving and the light being on.got two videos of this situation.going into dealer next week.funny, today i get a letter from infiniti about this recall and offering to fix and future problem with the air bag system.seems odd that the recall fix did not work and now they will perform a "one-time retrofit to the ocs system.what is up with that, it should work as long as i drive the car. Car was in motion, adult passenger seated, ocs light was on, indication that system was off.major safety issue if system is off and adult passenger is seated.

Our 2014 infiniti q50 was involved in 2-car accident.other vehicle/driver impacted driver side of 2014 infiniti q50 at high speed and caused considerable damage.current damage estimate to q50 is near $25,000.my wife, who was driving, sustained head injuries as a result of air bags that did not deploy.
The car has 62,000 miles and the srs light is flashing on the dashboard (i believe it is a occupant sensor) the light flashes as soon as the car turns and does not shut off

We purchased the q50 because we loved our g35x so much.when we purchased the q50 in early october 2013, we knew there were issues with the computer system.the salesperson told us that there would be a fix in november and we would be contacted.during october and november, we experienced a range of issues with the navigation system and one touch system.we had to reboot the system almost every time we drove the car.we were not contacted for the fix in november or december and we started to experience many steering issues.my wife contacted the pittsburgh infiniti dealer and was told that there was no fix available at this time, it was suggested that she contact the corporate office for clarification.corporate said that there was no fix, but that our q50 had been identified for a recall.we found the recall information on the internet and the shocking part was that the nhtsa said not to drive the car until it is fixed.we also found out that corporate knew of the steering issue since november 2013, but never notified us.i guess they were waiting for someone to be killed by the steering problem before taking action.after many calls to the pittsburgh infiniti dealer and corporate office, we found that no one wanted to take responsibility for the problem.it was not until we went to the dealer with the car that they agreed to fix the problem and suddenly the fix was available.i will most likely never buy another infiniti and i can only recommend that everyone stay away from the infiniti q-series. I took delivery of my 2014, fully loaded infiniti q50s on 8/31/13. The vehicle is equipped with infiniti's new "direct adaptive steering" system, which they hail as the first on the market steer by wire system. On 11/15/13 i noticed for the first time the steering erratically pulling, typically to the left but occasionally to the right. It is at times so pronounced that it is as if the vehicle steering is fighting me.the problem occurs frequently and persists to this day. This behavior is intermittent and is very different than an alignment issue. It happens on straight stretches of road and is generally noticeable during highway travel, given the higher speeds and straight stretches of road. This behavior had been observed by infiniti service personnel and had been documented by other owners as well. It is also clearly noticeable to passengers in my vehicle. I have made multiple visits to the dealership in an effort to correct this problem, without success. These included application of a recall campaign that included new software and hardware being installed. The problem persists and makes the vehicle at least anxiety inducing to drive.at times it feels unsafe. It is highly unsettling and there are clearly problems with this system and technology. Rather incredibly, i was told by a nissan/infiniti technical specialist who was brought into town to assess the many problems i have been having with this vehicle that this erratic steering behavior is being caused by the steering system settings i utilize. That setting is known as "standard," which is the default setting whenever the vehicle is started. This car and technology are unstable and unsafe.
I am experiencing software related issues that have become increasingly dangerous.in sum, the infiniti software shuts down or locks up forcing me to become an it technician while driving.when the software shuts down, i lose the speedometer, tachometer, climate control and audio control.here's an overview of my experiences for the past 3 years:randomly, the software will shut down leaving me without my instrument panel (speedometer, tachometer), climate control and audio control.randomly, the software will lock up leaving me without climate control or audio control and the only resolution is to pull over, shut down and restart the car randomly, climate controls are set to 60 degrees w/ ac yet hot air is blowing out of the vents.most recently, the onboard clock that displays the date and time will reset to 01-01-2012 and the clock will start at 6:00 am.the only resolution is to reset the date and time.this seems to occur every 3 or 4 weeks.when i call the service department i'm asked to bring in the vehicle only to be told that all updates have been applied and the issues cannot be duplicated.i have taken and posted several youtube videos showing the problems-which i'll admit is very dangerous to do while driving.in fact, i firmly believe that when these software issues occur, i am forced to play the role of an it technician and troubleshoot the issues while driving which is incredibly dangerous. These issues occur randomly while driving.this is a lease vehicle and i plan to return early as the continued issues put me and my family in danger.
Complete power failure around navigation and radio.lighting went dark and then powered up 5 minutes later while driving.
While driving, the car lost all power, steering and breaking capabilities. All of the dash warning lights lit up. Infinity replaced the abs system.
Car did not want to turn--happened again at 2200 miles.carried to dealer at first time but problem was not fixed .first time it was very cold and the second time it was even colder.not happy with the system in place to handle the problem.. Repeat sale is out of the question. Car has been parked in yard since 2-5-2014 waiting far towing to dealer..do not feel safe in driving car.. It seems the only use we have in owning car is to impress our neighbors with a useless $44,000 car.very unhappy with dealer, infiniti and towing company.need i say more.--three phone calls today with no results. Posted 2-11-2014.
Unsafe vibration and uncontrollable steering when breakingover 40 mph. Sonar sensors doesn't not work at all. When traveling on the highway or streets and above 20 mph when breaking for a traffic light there is an intense vibration that shakes the car and steering wheel, also make turning, controlling the steering wheel and staying in the lane extremely difficult!
While traveling on the highway on 2/15 at 65mph with the intelligent cruise control system engaged, the vehicle automatically and abruptly applied the brakes very hard. There were no vehicles in front of us to warrant engagement of the collision avoidance system. An error message displayed on the dashboard. It was extremely unsettling to the point that my wife no longer wants to travel in the vehicle, nor will we have our infant son travel in it. The vehicle had previously abruptly braked in low speed conditions (ie, parking lots) for no apparent reason. Dealer had previously replaced radar system components prior to the 2/15 incident. I will no longer use the driver aids as a result as they are clearly not safe.
Engine has rough idle while in park. Even after the following maintenance was done. Replacing spark plugs, engine software update, coolant flush, power steering flush, fuel system clean, new mass air flow sensors both sides, serpentine belt, all new gaskets on top part of engine, valve cover, intake manifold, spark plug tube seals. Flushed rear and rear diff and transmission. Steering is heavy to turn. The colder it is outside the worse the engine shakes. Throttle response is delayed at times. Transmission shifts hard the worse the engine shakes. Colder it is the slower the windows roll up and down along with the wipers. Engine drops rpm when turning wheel while in park. When driving engine drops about 100 - 200 rpm then keeps going back up under acceleration but causes transmission to shift hard. This problem causes the output shaft seal to break and rear wheel speed sensors were replaced. After a sharp turn car hesitates to accelerate even if hard on the gas. Extreme cold temps outside make the engine almost sound as if something inside engine internals is not right. Hot and humid weather makes it run the best. No check engine light problem started at 90,000 miles now im at 126,000 miles and still no fix and no check engine light. Loss of engine power. Even going up the smallest hill incline maybe a couple feet over a distance of maybe 3 blocks engine downshifts to 5th gear just to maintain 70mph even though i can be going 50mph in 7th gear. Car jolts forward when coming to a stop as if the output shaft is still spinning at a different speed than the engine. Can cause an accident if not fixed. Other infiniti cars seem to have the same problem. Even the g37.
Our front right bumper was just slightly damaged when back out of our garage.it was very mild cosmetic damage that occurred at only a speed of perhaps 5 mph.original body work estimates came in at $2,000 only to spiral out of control with the steering modules being replaced them steering rack before the car was ultimately totaled as the steering programming was still off.upon research we found out that this particular model was plagued with electronic steering issues which appeared to be addressed under multiple recalls.the insurance company stated that they have videos of the steering wheel going crazy back and forth wildly after the modules were replaced.i am extremely concerned that such an insignificant bump could not only result in totaling a vehicle but could jeopardize a driver's safety with the steering issues.
2014 q50s shut off both the navigation screen and the intouch screen which controls the climate control, defroster, radio, cabin lighting settings, automatic wiper settings, etc. In the car. Only way to get them to restart and function was to pull over and re-start the car. Infiniti sent an engineer to my retailer and told me my phones bluetooth is not compatible with intouch, nor the bluetooth functionality of the car. As such, it is creating this "glitch" in the system. I was never advised at time of purchase my phone was not compatible and would create such an issue. If you do not have a nissan north america approved device for bluetooth it could apparently create this problem. Note: phones on the approved list are at least 3 years old, so if you bought a phone in the last 3 years it likely is not approved for use. I live in utah and winters can be rough and i use the defroster frequently. To have this not work is quite dangerous.
The telematics control unitmy 2014 infiniti q50 will be inoperable by 12/31/16 based on a notice received from infiniti on 12/6/16.infiniti has indicated this is because att will discontinue support of the 2g technology the system is designed to use.however, att announced 2g support would sunset timeline way back in 2012 - in this public announcement (https://www.sec.gov/archives/edgar/data/732717/000073271712000073/q2_10q.htm).without a functioning tcu, the vehicle will no longer be able to provide automatic collision notification - which was a feature advertised on the vehicle.infiniti will restore functionality of the tcu after payment of $299.given infiniti was aware (or should have been) 2g support would imminently be stopped, this fix should be made via a service campaign/recall.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to turn off when attempted. The contact also stated that the keyfob was not recognized. The contact stated that the vehicle shut-off only after running out of gas. The vehicle to was towed to lupient infiniti milwaukee (10595 w. Arthur avenue, west allis, wi 53227, (262) 649-2236) to be diagnosed however, the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted. The failure mileage was 66,000.
While slowly backing out of a parking spot in a parking garage, the vehicle automatically braked so abruptly that i thought i had struck something in the roadway. I got out to check and the roadway was clear. I returned to the vehicle to continue and it did the same thing again. I was then able to continue. I had previously been to the dealership with issues with the sonar system for the backup collision warning and avoidance system registering false positives and beeping endlessly. Components were replaced. The problem clearly was not fixed. This technology does not work and makes the vehicle frightening to drive.
The chassis control module errorlight just come on ....also the gps and radio there is no sound and wont tune in the in touch not working
In cold weather (below zero f) after car has been running fine and then turned off for 30-40 min, i got in the car and started as usual; but system malfunction light went on and power steering was inoperative and car was unsteerable. After turning the car off for about 10 min, i could restart and it worked fine. Then the same thing happened again within an hour. I stopped for gas and when i restarted the car it was unsteerable and a system malfunction light went on related to power steering. The same thing occurred a week before. The car had to be towed to the dealer and although they did not specify what was wrong they told me they had to wait for a part and that it would be 5-7 days before it came in.
The computer for navigation and also the sound system and who knows what else just stopped working.i ran it through a car wash and the computer was working before and after i left the car wash and the computer has not worked since..
While driving down the road the gauge cluster completely reset itself and none of my gauges (including tach and speedo) were operational for a period ofapprox 5 secs until is reset itself. Issue occurred at 8:45pm jan 3rd, 2017 during rainy conditions. Temperature about 45 degrees. Had just completed a medium sweeping 90 degree right hand turn and was driving straight coming over the crest of a small hill. Car was in sport mode and manual shift mode with 3rd gear selected. Speed was about 40mph on a county road. This is not the first electrical issue with this vehicle, please note ongoing backup camera issues previously reported.
Vehicle drifts to the left and to the right mostly on the freeway, das does not feel tight and safe. Constantly needs to be corrected on the highway.i have had it in the dealership twice so far and will be taking it back again next week.the dealership found that my toe was slightly out of alignment at 3149 miles. Toe was corrected however, after technician road test of 50 miles, vehicle still has the similar sensation. I do not feel safe in this vehicle.i traded in my g37 coupe for this vehicle because we are having another grandchild however, i will not allow my children or grandchildren to ride in this vehicle. Salesman did not advise that vehicle was equipped with the new technology ofdas or i would not have purchased this vehicle!vehicle is now at 3285.my intouch dual screens have malfunctioned 5 times and do not reset until you turn the vehicle off and then back on.
Vehicle would not start and determined that battery was dead. Arranged for jump start (through my roadside assistance program) but vehicle would still not start. Had vehicle towed to infiniti dealership. They figured out a way to charge car (wasn't accessible via front hood since a hybrid) and found a way to open truck to direct access and charge battery. Upon car starting, various error codes appeared. Car dealership had no knowledge of what they meant as they had not seen them before. I contacted infiniti corporate and they associated the codes with a previous das voluntary recall. However, upon further investigation by dealership, it was determined that das update was already applied. To determine the root cause, i was told it would require the car to be partially disassembled. As two of the codes points to a braking system issue, and one to the chassis system, i wanted to verify if this is a safety issue and if a recall is needed. (see attachments for reference)
First instance: while driving on the highway going 60mph my car powered down, preventing me from controlling the car. The gauges and lights inside the car went dark and mph went to 0. I lost electrical power and after 1 minute the car is back to normal. Second instance: as i was pulling into a driveway and went over a bump the car lost power and powered down, i naturally pressed the gas before i understood what was wrong, the car powers back up as i'm pressing the gas and caused me to almost hit another car.
The 2014 infiniti q50 includes infiniti's new intouch infotainment system. Its advertised capabilities were among the key deciding factors in my decision to select this vehicle. I began experiencing significant problems with the system within the first few days of owning this vehicle and problems persist to this day. On september 3, while taking my first long trip with my q50, i experienced several intouch failures. These included lockups and a resulting loss of control of audio and climate control systems that could only be remedied by a reset of the system. The navigation system also locked and went offline, and could only be restored by stopping and restarting the vehicle. Problems recurred regularly. Software updates and hardware replacements have been performed but the failures persist, even if they have changed in nature or decreased in frequency. Resets also result in the loss of some data and default settings. Most of these failures are documented by video or photos. I have been advised by a nissan/infiniti technical specialist who was sent to town to assess the many problems with my vehicle and by client services that several lockups a month is a "normal" condition. It may be normal for infiniti's unstable system, but it is certainly not the norm for consumer products and it is not acceptable, either. I was also advised by the technical specialist that many of the issues are because the system has a "slow" process and patience is required. Furthermore, at the time of release various functionalities were advertised for the intouch system, including various apps, calendar and email functionality. These capabilities were key drivers in my purchase decision. These capabilities were advertised for a fall 2013 release. As of mid-march 2014, these capabilities remain non-existent as does any information about when or in fact if they will actually be made available.
First incident of this happening was during a trip to white plains, where the navi and info touch system would randomly restart.within the 45 minute drive the system has restarted twice on me, and at the most inconvenient times, where i really needed to see the directions.i didn't pay it any mind at first since it was essentially an electronic item and like all electronics, it reboots from time to time.but needless to say that it has been more then inconvenient, to the point where it is useless.i have used the navi system on my phone more then the navi system itself, because it is unreliable!i have brought it to the dealership twice already and according to the dealership "if we can't reproduce the issue, infiniti won't troubleshoot it".even though i have video footages of the issue happening as i was driving, in different time stamps and locations.unfortunately i don't have every incident, because i use my phone as my main navigation system.they stated this is natural for the system to reboot at least 2 to 3 times a month, which is understandable, but 2 to 3 times a day?i have leased 2 other infiniti's prior to this q50 and loved them all, but never had this problem before. The issue is still occurring.
Q50s hybrid with tech package driving less than 2 weeks (380 miles). Before delivery, the dealer confirmed that the car does not have any recalls pending and software is up-to-date. In the early morning, i drove about 60 minutes without problem (it was below zero), and parked the car for 2 hours in outside parking lot. When i started the car again (outside temp approximately 0 degree f), engine started but multiple warning came up. Those include "master warning, power steering warning, vdc warning, and forward emergency braking system warning." i tried to back the car from the lot and it moved, but the steering was extremely heavy and i could not turn. I restarted 3-4 times but nothing changed. I called infiniti and they set up towing but i needed to wait for 90 minutes for pick up due to cold weather. While waiting, i kept the engine on since it was cold outside. After the engine running approximately 30 minutes without shutting down but still all warnings on, i again shut off the car and restarted. This time, all alarms disappeared, and steering was normal. I contacted with dealer, and was notified that same problems are happening with other q50 same day, and nothing needed to or can be done at this moment, since all software is already updated. Of note, the car was previously kept in location colder than 0 degree f many times and this problem did not happen at the colder temperature. But only difference this time was the car was kept outside parking lot. Since that incident, no further alarms appeared and the car is running fine. However, as i see more information in this site, i feel some sort of manufacture or official investigation needs to be initiated, since it seems there are multiple same issues happening everywhere. Some of these incidents could have easily triggered fatal accident. Obviously, after a fatal accident then one cannot complain anymore...
Navigation and audio system malfunction, it just stop working. I was told all 2014 has this issue and i have to get a new dcu installed. The dcu in the 2014 and 2015 has not been working.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact stated thatwhile driving at high speeds, the electronic gauges and displays in the vehicle suddenly became inoperable as the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. In addition, the contact indicated that the emergency sos button would not operate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure and was unable to diagnose the cause of the problem. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 2000.
When rear view camera is used, the warning to "check entire surroundings" is not displayed, and predictive course and distance lines are not displayed. Condition returns to normal in about 85 sec. After the vehicle is started, but by that time the car is out of a garage or parking space. All 2014 infiniti q50 without around view monitor system are affected.
- [ ] 2014 q50 sport vq3.7vhr premium base with 51k miles. You'll just be driving along and the power steering just stops working! the steering gets very rough and the vehicle is difficult to control, it's done it 3-times now! on the warning indicator lights: 'power steering warning light' turns on & the 'vehicle dynamic control' light also. Then on the vehicle information display: 'chassis control system error' (see owner's manuel) turns on. You turn the car off and start it again and it goes away, sometimes. It's happened three times so far, and now it's not doing it it's been working fine for two days now? you never know when it's going to happen and it's very unsafe. The dealership said my basic warranty has expired and i just have the power train warranty left, unless i purchase an extended warranty. This vehicle does not have dast to the best of my knowledge (it's not on the window sticker) and infiniti says there are no recalls on my vehicle, only 2014's with dast. I believe it needs a software update.
Backup camera sometimes fails to initialize after starting the car. Sometimes it doesn't come on at all (especially at night), and sometimes it comes on so dim at night that it's impossible to see anything (there seems to be a day [dim] and night [bright] brigness/contrast mode and it's like the day mode comes on even though it's night). Backup camera also always takes at least 30 seconds after the car starts up to show the gridlines and "check your surroundings" warning message. Well beyond the 6 secs recommended by the nhtsa. Infiniti claims that the camera is operating as designed and can take up to 90 seconds to load. I never have gridlines or the proper warning lines when i back out of a space (the system is simply too slow). This is very concerning to me as the camera does not always work at night when i need it the most. Even more concerning is infiniti's complete refusal to investigate and remedy either of the 2 safety issues i am currently writing complaints about (this backup camera issue, and the issue with my brakes wearing out way too early)
The chasis control system error warning iis on also key system erroris on alsso the radio works but no sound from speakers
After having a great experience owning a '04 infiniti g35x, i purchased an infiniti q50 in mid october, 2013 in dallas, tx. In addition to software issues with nav & apps, i have had problems being able to unlock or start my car w/o my key fob.three times i lost steering control when the weather was near 32 deg. F...twice in driveway (reported to infiniti in my survey) and once while driving and then i wouldn't have been able to swerve if necessary (very dangerous)!restarting the car alleviated the problem each time.after receiving a "service campaign" notice i took my car to the dealership.the service mgr. Said that he hadn't heard of any problems with the das, but i had the recall notice in my hand and my sales rep told me that she was having the same problem. This past weekend i visited a car show and spoke to an infiniti rep. About this das issue.he told me that the das issue was related to cold weather and that the servo-actuators that make up the das system need to be sealed.when we asked if that meant putting grease or silicone on a rubber boot, he said no.the units had to be replaced with new ones.he said that any software fixes for the das would be to correct the lack of triple redundancy in the event of failures.i just asked the service rep. If they replaced the servo motors or control units that are the root of this problem and he said that they weren't required to do so.i think that the dealer and infiniti are being very ambiguous about the extent of this problem.i'll give them one chance to fix these problems and if not satisfactory, i'll try the lemon law!
Q50 backup camera malfunction.after 3 years and 8 months (33000 miles) the backup camera display stopped working properly, it often just shows a black or white screen with no view behind the car when put in reverse, even after waiting 60 or more seconds for the apps to load or rebooting the system as suggested by the dealer. My infiniti dealer replaced the display module but it didn't help. The problem happens day or night when putting the car in reverse. The dealer says according to the infiniti tech support staff there is no solution to this problem.infiniti consumer affairs says according to their tech, "it is a normal characteristic of the vehicle".its normal for the camera not to work because its happened to a lot of q50 vehicles. They refuse to fix the problem under warranty.this is second infiniti i have owned but it is the last.they don't honor the factory warranty. I have multiple videos of the problem.
I live in a one family house with an attached garage.my wife parked the car, with 1/3 of atank of gas,in our garage about 6:30 pm on august 17.she thought she had pushed the button to turn off the engine, and exited the car taking the smart key with her.about 9 the next morning, while walking my dog, i felt heat coming from the garage and opened the door.it was very hot to touch.i then touched the car and burned my hand.i called our local fire department and they pulled the car out of the garage.the car was so hot, a cd in the door compartment melted.the firemen explained thatmy wife and i and our dog, could very easily have been killed by carbon monoxide and the entire structure could have burned from the heat.i have since learned that what happened to me is a common occurrence and people have died as a result. Even if the smart key is not near the car, it will continue to run until it is out of gas.
I had 2 right side headlights blown out the led and infiniti says this never happens but it happen to me 2 times on the same exact side and the lights inside my car fleckerand burn out
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. While driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle would independently veer to the right. The vehicle was taken to the dealer. The technician diagnosed that the software needed to be updated. The update was completed, but the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 3,000.
During 20 degree f, i drove my car with no issues to a retail store, parked it in a parking lot. After shopping, returned to my car & started it up, put in reverse, started backing up, then several malfunction lights lit up on the car's dash & the steering wheel locked all of a sudden. I could not turn the steering wheel. I could only move the car forward & backward & this is all while the car is powered on. I had to have the car towed to the dealership. In past history, there has been 2 other steering recalls (electric power assist system & adaptive steering parts) on this same make/model,& year. The dealership service team told me on 1/22/19 & the issue with my car was the chassis control module (the brain of the steering wheel) & a lane departure malfunction & the cost of repair is $1600 (not covered) despite i have an extended warranty. The chassis control module as the brain of the steering wheel clearly relates to the previous steering recalls (electric power assist system & adaptive steering parts) along with the lane departure malfunction as diagnosed by infiniti dealer in suitland, maryland. The description of the previous 2 recalls (electric power assist system & adaptive steering parts) say that in freezing climates, the engine compartment reaches freezing, disabling the power steering system, resulting in a loss of steering, increasing risk of crash. As diagnosed by infiniti, definitely the chassis control module & even the lane departure technology parts have not been included in the previous steering recalls & should have been. Please issue steering recalls for the chassis control module and lane departure malfunction parts or just the entire steering system. Infiniti is fixing my car at no charge to me after i told them about the related previous steering recalls. Per the internet, many people have experienced this with this car model. Danger!!
It started with a flat tire and the psi light lite up on board and flat tire also, had the flat tire fixed and took car to the shop where i got tires replaced, within a year of ownership, replaced due to them being bubbled gm replaced them for free; took car to (just tires gm recommendation) with free tire balance and rotation and they also did front end alignment, after that lights was still on and shop rep said to drive the car a couple miles and it would reset itself so i did and still light was on drove to church on 4 lane hwy 85 n bound and i felt a slight tug on the right passenger side of the front of the car and decided to move out of the lane behind a 18 wheeler as i attempted to move out of my lane the car made a sudden jerk back in the lane which i was in and the wheel locked and i could not control or unlock it and the car began to spin and slide into the rear end of the 18 wheeler, the sonar system was engaged and it did not respond to what it was designed to do, nor did the lane departure indicator, nor the anti-braking anti skidding work as it was designed which caused the accident which lead me going to the hospital with a diagnosis of muscle inflammation. The sonar failed was illuminated on the dash. My 2014 q50 sedan was equipped with sonar, lane departure, blind spot indicator; it was fully equipped. I am very sure that the steering and anti-braking anti skidding did not engage as it should. Infiniti will send an inspector to the totaled car and pull the black box/or chip and check out what went wrong. Waiting on the result on or after june 14 or 16 as of their decision.

On several occasions while driving my car, it has locked up on me. I have taken the car back to the dealership three times for this same issue. The last time i took it in because my car locked up on me after coming off an highway and i was hit by another car. I took it back to infiniti who claimed they could not duplicate this issue. Even though i pointed them to scores and scores of similar issues being reported on the internet. Infiniti's response was "anyone can write anything on the internet". I thought this comment was insensitive and downright ridiculous. Even though anyone can write anything on the internet, most people would not get on the internet to complain about a problem with their car that was not true - what would they get out of it??infiniti's cavalier attitude has shocked me since my family have bought five infinitis from them over the years and have never had these types of complaint.additionally this type of issue could kill folks! is infiniti trying to balance lives against a recall that's needed......i am shocked and apalled!!!!!!!!!!!!
My power steering belt snapped off.prior to that, my brake pedal was loose enough to move it up and down roughly a 1/4 of an inch with my foot. The only way to engage the cruise control was to hold the brake pedal up with my foot, then in order to keep the cruise control engaged was to keep holding the brake pedal up with my foot because it would sense that the driver slightly tapped the brake pedal to disengage it if i stopped holding it up manually.i had to have the brake pedal bolt tightened.it has happened again and i can't reach the bolt,so i have to pay to have it fixed again along with the other issues.the other issue is my a/c blend door is not operating, which is causing the two driver side a/c vents to blow warm air out of them while ever other vent blows ice cold .not fun in these incredibly hot and humid georgia summers.

I had 2 right side headlights blown out the led and infiniti says this never happens but it happen to me 2 times on the same exact side and the lights inside my car fleckerand burn out
1. The electric power assist system or das malfunctioned preventing the car to steer correctly. When pulling out of side street onto the main boulevard, the car would not steer straight, there was no response from the steering wheel input and the vehicle crashed into a parked car parked on the side of the road2. The safety of the driver and others were put at risk because the car crashed.3. The problem has not be confirmed by the dealer our insurance company stated they may or may not investigate the problem.4. Our insurance company has photos of the accident and damaged vehicle but has not inspected the car components for possible failure.5. No warning light or messages were displayed to the best of my knowledge prior to the crash.6. There was a safety recall # 16v430000 for this model and model year but our vin indicates that there is not an outstanding recall currently for the car

On september 5th, i was driving my 2014 infiniti q50 and once it reached 2nd or 3rd gear, the transmission revved up and the car locked the tires up and threw us forward like it was slammed into a low gear. I had to tow the car home 400 miles and dropped it off at the infiniti dealer on september 7th 2020. As of october 24th 2020, i still don't have my car back. I was informed by the parts manager at the dealership that there were over 700 valve body's on backorder. He claimed that nissan/infiniti was aware of the problem and was being very picky with the quality control of the new parts to insure there would be no further problems. They are quoting $2400 parts and labor to fix the car. Was advised by the parts manager to contact infiniti customer affairs.
This is an awd car purchased used 2 weeks prior to this incident. The car has only 11, 000 miles on it when this occurred. I was driving in bumper to bumper traffic in heavy snowconditions on an overpass bridge that merges onto a busy freeway.the vehicle's front wheels pulled the car to left2-3 times at a speed of less than 5mph out of my lane but i was able to correct. While still on the overpass bridge i took my foot off brake to inch forward (still in bumper to bumper traffic) and still less than 5 miles per hr, hardly moving, the car again pulled hard to the left and pulled me into a guardrail. If there was no guardrail i would have plummeted to the freeway below. All this happened without ever pressing on the accelerator pedal as i was in very heavy traffic, so i was barely moving. I had my 17 year old daughter with me. We both said that the car acted all on its own and we both noticed that no other cars were slipping or spinning outat all. The snow had just began to fall so there wasn't too much on the road maybe 1-2 inches (estimated). There was damage to the drivers side bumper and quarter panel (which we have yet to get estimated). We took the car into the infiniti dealership, i had them run a diagnostics on the computer. They said there was a faulty "chassis control module" that determines the power applied to the wheels and which ones. The service advisors mechanic mentioned that this "most definitely could have caused the problem we experienced". He recommended i call infiniti's consumer affairs and file a claim. Infiniti asked the dealership to not work on the car, they sent their mechanic to investigate. The closed the case and said the car had no issues and replaced nothing and returned the car back after several weeks. The car is not safe and i am scared to drive it. Infiniti will not recognize this and won't pay for body damage or any repair.

The seatbelt on the driver side will tighten up across neck and chest when driver assist controls go off at will when car is coming to a stop or when car is being driven on uneven or bumpy roads.the seatbelt chokes me as though i am in an accident.i have pictures of the injury on my chest.in july, after the seatbelt did this, i started having problems on the left side of my neck.it was very painful, i had two pain injections done and neither worked.i have lupus which affects my joints and when i was sent to have a second opinion, the first thing the doctor asked was, had i been in an accident.i mentioned the seatbelt and he said it is a possibility that it inflamed the area.i had to have surgery on october 14, 2014.the car display system freezes.i have taken this car back to the dealer approximately 5 times with the most times being when it had less than 1000 miles.i have contacted infiniti and they have set up 2 cases, with no effective results.i have never turned the heater on because the car gets very hot inside and i can feel the heat on my feet on the driver's side.i am anemic (very cold natured) in the summer 82 degrees is comfortable for me.this car gets very hot.i can feel the heat on the outside and sometimes i smell something burning when i get out.the display panel gives erroneous information such as "other maintenance?" and "tire maintenance?"but when checked, everything is fine.i have tired to work something out but they are refusing to accommodate me.whether they refund my down payment and enough where i could trade out of this car.this is a leased vehicle (36) months.money for pain and suffering.because of this surgery, i will not be able to return to work until december and i am off without pay and this will be additional time without pay.i have filed a complaint with bbb.please help me.
Driver seat assembly malfunction. Joint in the seat frame is poorly constructed and became bent. The driver and passenger seat vibrates when on driving, perhaps improper mounting. The structural integrity is compromised. The driver seat moves forward about a few degrees when braking hard. Seat is not properly hinged down. Dealer refuses to address issue due to warranty excuses and claims mechanical issues not covered.

My 2014 infiniti q50 sport has an unresolved reoccurring problem were after aprox. 20 miles of driving the brake pedal will sink substantially towards the floor after braking.as the car will still stop after the brakes are applied the braking distance is longer than normal and the feeling of security is greatly reduced.to date the car has been back to the dealership 3 times for this issue.the first time a full brake job was performed at my expense.within a couple months of the brake job the problem came back.the car was returned to the dealer in july 2016 for further evaluation. After 2 days of short trial road testing the car was returned to me with the explanation that the dealership "could not replicate the issue"one week after that the problem occurred again and i limped the car back into the dealership as the problem was occurring. They semi acknowledged the issue and proceeded to order a new master cylinder that took 1 month to come in and get installed. I received the car back on 8/11/2016 and immediately noticed the pedal was still lower than normal but operational.after driving for about 50 miles on open highway the problem reoccurred again.once again i took the car back to the dealership where it lies now with no resolve.at this point i am afraid to drive the car because of this issue and the many past recall issues involving air bags and the electronic steering system.at this point i am looking at turning the car in with 10 remaining lease months left at an expense of $7,000.00.i am not willing to put my life or the lives of my loved ones in jeopardy.
My infiniti q50 2014 has intermittent brake booster pump failure that causes diminished braking power at all speeds and at a slips at a stop.the diminished brakingaffects stopping distances and triggers emergency collision warnings and impact mitigation like seat belt tightening while driving. The condition has happened for the last 24 months.infiniti refused to address until they witnessed the condition. In late 2016 i was able to show them when it was happening. Their tech diagnosed the brake booster as the issue and repaired. In may 2017 the conditions are now repeating. Infiniti again is refusing to address unless they can witness.the carbraking is unsafe with this condition, particularly as you have no ability to know when the intermittent condition will occur. I have email trails of all reportseach one it happened and service communications with the dealership. Updated 10/11/17 updated 12/11/2017
While driving my vehicle today approximately at 4:20 pm mst, my steering and braking system stopped working while i was driving and as i was approaching an intersection located here in colorado springs, co. This scared me and i thought i was about to die. Is there a recall on the 2014 infiniti q50 hybrid steering and braking system? if so, what do i do about these issues? so many lives are at danger with this vehicle and its steering and brake systems. This must be fixed immediately! i'm in law enforcement and this could be catastrophic for infiniti and nissan.
While driving, the car lost all power, steering and breaking capabilities. All of the dash warning lights lit up. Infinity replaced the abs system.
I was pulling off from the grocery store and my car stalled like it didnt wantto go. So i stopped and put it back in park and then started to proceed again....thats when i got all the flashing errors for my awd and the chassis system. Therear right abs sensor is the problem per the dealer. My awd error light and chassis system error light are on along with the abs light. I've read up on alot of peoples comments about the same problem. This issue needs to be dealt with with the manufacturer as this seems to happen more often after the warranty runs out. This is my second infiniti car, and was hoping not to run into these expensive sensor issues all over again. My next car will not be an infiniti.
My vehicle has had to have my rotors replaced 5 times or more in a single year. The dealer said that these rotors get hot and create hot spots which in turn requires new rotors and brakes every 2-3 months. This is an expensive cost for such a luxury vehicle. There is a risk that these rotors will continue to burn through the pads leaving drivers without proper braking systems.
Rear brake pad life is dangerously short. I began to experience squealing and vibration upon braking after only 25,000 miles. There is no suggested replacement interval so i could easily see someone ignoring the symptoms or putting off the pad replacement (most people expect pads to last at least 30,000 miles). There are also no wear sensors for the rear brakes. Someone could easily wear through the pads and have a dangerous rear brake failure since there is no disclosure provided by infiniti of how short the rear pad life really is.
Same issue as a complaint previously posted on your site re: 2014 infiniti q50: started the vehicle and the chassis control system error sensor light illuminated. When attempting to drive the vehicle the power steering malfunctioned making the vehicle difficult to turn the steering wheel. Will contact dealer for service we were not aware of anynhtsa recall campaign 13v588000(steering); however, the defect appears to be the same as the recall.
After driving approximately 1/4 mile, the car began to pull to the left very strongly; strong enough to pull me into oncoming traffic if it had not been so early in the morning.i thought i had a flat tire but the tire pressure monitors said the pressure was proper @ 36 psi.this strong pull lasted about another mile and then subsided.it has occurred 2 more times since then.dealer had the car for 2 days and indicated that perhaps the road was uneven or it was just sensitive driving and i am not used to it.i know what a car pulling to one side feels like and each time this feels like a flat tire.if it happens again i will not allow my wife or anyone else drive the car; it could causes a serious accident.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. While driving various speeds and when the vehicle was initially started, it unexpectedly steered to the right. The failure occurred periodically. The vehicle was taken to sheehy infiniti of annapolis (123 ferguson rd, annapolis, md 21409, (443) 400-7125) where the computer was reset, but the failure continued. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer where the contact was informed that the failure could not be duplicated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 43,000.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact stated that the steering wheel failed several times without warning while driving at highway speeds. The contact had to crash into sand and road gravel to avoid a rear end crash with another vehicle. The contact did not sustain any injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where the central computer system was reprogrammed however, the failure was not corrected. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 38. The vin was not available.
100% manufacturer defective, das, recall performed in 2016 at the herbs chambers prior us purchasing the vehicle in april 2017. Car broke down in highway @ 65 mph.
No steering, steering light in dash is lite and no steering, unable to drive vehicle.
Backing out of driveway when all of a sudden i couldn't turn the steering wheel no matter how much pressure i exerted.complete critical malfunction of the steering.turned car off and restarted.no change in condition.after several minutes, restarted car and steering appeared normal.brought the car to service department of dealer from where i purchased car.initially advised by service manager that there is a software update for this condition.after about an hour he came to me to advise me that the software didn't "take" and that the control arm needs to be replaced.what if i lost total steering control at highway speeds?
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact stated thatwhile driving at high speeds, the electronic gauges and displays in the vehicle suddenly became inoperable as the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. In addition, the contact indicated that the emergency sos button would not operate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure and was unable to diagnose the cause of the problem. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage was 2000.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact stated that he attempted to drive in reverse, but the steering wheel failure light illuminated as the steering wheel became unresponsive. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for inspection but they were unable to determine the cause of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,200.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. While parked, the steering wheel seized without warning. The failure occurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,000.
While backing out of a parking space, noticed that the steering wheel was extremely stiff and the car would not change direction.after i pulled back into the space, i noticed two additional lights on the dashboard: steering wheel with an exclamation mark, and the car with the wheels slipping behind it.car had been sitting for about 75 minutes and temperature at the time was -5.on the previous drive, the car had been sitting for several hours at temperatures between 0 - -5 and didn't have the issue.tried restarting the car several times, allowing 1-2 minutes in between each restart and could not get the wheel to move more than a few degrees either direction.i believe the backup system also failed because no matter how hard i turned the wheel, the car's wheels would not change direction while i was trying to back out of the parking space.car ended up being towed to dealer and is still there now with 704 miles and less than a month old.they were not aware of any recall and so far do not have a solution.this incident is similar to recall notice 13v588000, but my car does not appear to be included.regardless of the repair/outcome i no longer feel safe driving this car as i do not trust the direct adaptive steering system after this incident.a youtube video of the steering wheel and my dash while parked can be seen here: http://youtu.be/y7bifk0_cmm.
Danger!!
Steering failed completely approximately 8/12/15 while on the road. Incident occurred while at a slow pace and i was able to force steer the car to the side of the road. Today i went to start the car in my garage and once again the car had no steering.dealer was able to fix the problem however i feel that this is a major problem that could be dangerous. For instance, if my wife had been driving in the first incident she would not have strong enough to steer the car to the side of the road.coast infinity in sarasota, fl941-924-1211today the steering failed again but occurred when i started the car in my garage. Was not traveling at the time.
It is difficult to control the car.specially during curves/turning.a lot of force must be maintained in the steering wheel.the cars wants to go opposite to the direction being manipulated by the driver in the steering wheel.
Steering wheel lock up while driving and the car still running
After parking my car in a parking lot, i wanted to adjust it to be more even. So i turned the engine on again.but then i suddenly couldn't turn the wheel. The wheel was locked up. With very firm force, i managed to turn the wheel about 15 degrees - but the actual tires themselves did not turn. The car was in "r" and did reverse, but as i could not steer it did not reverse in the direction i wanted to go.i turned the engine off and on again and then there was a warning on the dash saying that "afs is off" and "the system is off." i turned the engine off and on again for the 3rd time, and then everything was normal and the steering was working fine. The temperature outside was about 46 degrees f. My car's specific model is: 2014 q50s with deluxe touring and technology packages (including das/direct adaptive steering).
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact started the vehicle and the chassis control system error sensor lightilluminated. When the contact attempted to drive the vehicle the power steering malfunctioned making the vehicle difficult to turn the steering wheel. The contact called the dealer and was informed that they were aware of the problem with the vehicle and she should turn the vehicle off and back on to remedy the problem. The contact turned the vehicle off and on but the failure continued to occur. There was no diagnostic test performed nor was the vehicle repaired. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The contact stated that she did not received nhtsa recallcampaign 13v588000(steering); however, the defect is identical to the recall. The failure mileage was 3600.
I was driving at 45 mph on a straight parkway with one hand loosely on the steering wheel when all of a sudden the steering wheel went to the right as did the front wheels as if i was making a right hand turn.i pulled the steering wheel to the left in order to continue going straight and placed my foot on the brake.a few seconds later, i intentionally took my hands off the steering wheel and, again, the car wanted to make a right hand turn.this phenomenon with the steering lasted about 15 minutes at which time the steering was normal. ..updated 05/07/15updated 9/16/2015
The vehicle has direct adaptive steering (das) and has been having failures of the system since cold weather came in early december. At start up the steering error and traction control error lights come on. Most times waiting a few minutes and restarting the vehicle will clear the condition but, not always.when the system is in failure mode the steering is exceedingly stiff and difficult to operate, to the point of making the vehicle unsafe to drive, in my opinion.this failure mode, according to the owner manual, is supposed to be a fail safe mode with reduced steering assistance and direct mechanical linkage to the front wheels.however, the steering effort is substantially higher than with the car turned off, the direct mechanical linkage active and steering the wheels without electrical power applied.i believe there is a serious design defect in either the mechanical aspect of this system or the software that manages it.the steering effort in das failure mode shouldn't exceed the effort required with no electrical power applied to the steering.but, it does, by a very substantial amount.the effort required is of a degree where drivers of low strength would find it difficult if not impossible to adequately control the vehicle.they'd be better off putting the car in neutral and turning off the engine. I consider to this to be a substantial safety concern and in need of investigation. So far, to my knowledge, no one has been involved in an accident or injured from a das steering failure.however, i believe it's a matter of time before someone is either injured or killed from a das failure while the car is in motion because of the way the system behaves when it's in failure mode.the vehicle has been in to the dealer for repairs but, is still exhibiting the problem. It's back in the shop again.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, the power steering malfunctioned. The contact took the vehicle to a dealer for a diagnostic test. The dealer stated that the cold weather caused the power steering system to malfunction. The dealer did not perform any repairs to the vehicle. The failure mileage was 5,000. ..updated 02-28-14
Infiniti q50- vehicle began pulling severely to the left, requiring me to turn the steering wheel right in order to drive straight and avoid colliding head on with oncoming traffic. The issue persists until the car has been driven at 5-7 minutes continuously, stopping and restarting the vehicle does not correct this extremely dangerous issue. Issue occurred several times starting march 2014, dealership has attempted to resolve the problem on 4 separate occasions. 3/7/14 dealer performed dash software update claimed the problem was solved. 3/27/14 returned vehicle to the dealer after same problem occurred multiple times, dealer was unable to re-create the issue , returned vehicle with no attempt at repair, providing this list of instructions; #1 when parking the vehicle, straighten the wheels before turning off the car #2 do not touch steering wheel after the car has been turned off #3 do not touch steering wheel when entering the car until the car has been turned on #4 after placing the car in reverse, back up several inches before touching the steering wheel (yes, i actually have this in writing). Upon receiving this insane checklist, i called infiniti consumer affairs. They scheduled an appointment with an engineer for 4/14/14, before the appointment the problem occurred once again prompting me to drop the vehicle at the dealer on 4/9/14. Infiniti still could not replicate the problem. But they replaced the steering control system. 10/1/14, vehicle returned to the dealership for the same issue. Dealership performed steering calibration update. Infinity denied my request to buy back this extremely dangerous vehicle stating it has not been serviced an ??excessive amount of times??. I am shocked and appalled that infiniti has been so casual regarding a potentially fatal flaw in this vehicle, the safety of me and my family is at risk when operating this vehicle.
Das steering failed again.this was recalled several times in 2013-2014 for the same problem.dealer and manufacturer "rectified" problem 3 times.steerlng seizes up when temperatures fall below 0 degrees.steering failure and chassis failure come on.car required towing to dealer each time last year.i was able to get it to the dealer this time, with difficulty, no power steering and steering wheel is 90 degrees off center.dealer provided a loaner as they had previously.this is still a dangerous problem that infiniti has not resolved.
After merging onto the freeway, the car began pulling to the left.my first thought was a flat tire.checking the tire pressures, the front left tire displayed-- while the three other tires were 35 or 36 lbs.since have run flat tires, i continued driving.after approximately two miles, the pulling began to subside.after about another mile there was no pull at all and the tire pressure read 35lbs for the front left tire.i checked the front tire when i stopped and there was nothing wrong with it.i am guessing it was a problem with the electronic steering.i haven't had any issues since.i have an appointment with the dealer to have the car checked in two weeks when i take it in for routine service......updated 12/03/15
The chassis control module errorlight just come on ....also the gps and radio there is no sound and wont tune in the in touch not working
The car began drastically pulling to the left and i had to turn the wheel to the right, just to have it drive straight. This continued for about 3 miles. I got home, turned the car off, waited approx 5 mins and turned it back on and the car continued pulling to the left. I attempted to drive it for an additional 6-7 miles in an effort to get it to the dealer and prior to getting to the dealer, it started driving properly. The dealer said that since an error did not appear, they cannot do anything. I took the car in anyway and an engineer looked at the car on 8/4/14 and the only thing in the logs was that the car had low voltage. We researched steering issues with the q50 and there are multiple instances documented where other consumers are having this same issue. I live in arizona and obviously this issue is not related to cold climates as initially indicated in the recall. This car was built in apr 2014, which is after the recall and similar steering issues are occurring.
Direct adaptive steering became extremely stiff while backing out of parking spot after sitting overnight at zero degree temperatures.multiple restarts did not remedy the situation (chassis control system error remained illuminated). Ended up towing the vehicle to the dealership.dealership mentioned there was recall and a software fix yet i never received a notification.still waiting for control cable in steering column that was broken while maneuvering car back into parking spot.
I am making this report to alert you to what i believe is a dangerous condition in a newly offered vehicle system, as reported by a writer ([xxx] ) for motor trend magazine.i do not own this vehicle nor any infiniti model.the vehicle involved is being used by the magazine as a long term test vehicle.the magazine reported at http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/oneyear/sedans/1412_2014_infiniti_q50s_37_update_5/ that the active lane control system causes the vehicle to veer toward freeway exits.i believe that this is dangerous and is likely to result in both single-vehicle and multiple-vehicle crashes.the single-vehicle crashes are likely to occur when the driver fails to act in time.the multiple-vehicle crashes are likely to occur when the driver swerves to correct the car's path, and either hits other cars, or causes them to brake and swerve to miss the infiniti.in order to protect all motorists and passengers, please require all manufacturers whose systems exhibit this condition to disable the system on all vehicles and stop manufacturing it.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
"takata recall" i have lost control of the steering in my car on multiple occasions. I have taken the car to the infiniti dealership twice, and twice they have replaced the three computers in the car that control the steering. Though i have been able to save the car from an accident so far i fear i will not always be as lucky.
Purchased new infiniti q50, drove the car for 3 weeks for a total of about 900 miles.oneday i started the engine an attempted to drive out of parking lot, steering wheel was difficult to turn.a message appeared on dashboard stating "warning chassis control system error - see owner's manual".three other lights appeared on dash board, one with a steering wheel and exclamation point, another with a triangle with an exclamation point, and a third with a picture of a car with tire skid marks.drove home slowly called infiniti.they had car towed to dealership where it was purchased.the dealership said this is a known issue but claims only 3 cars they sold are affected.2 days later new software was released by infiniti and the update applied to my car.took car home. 6 days later drove car to work, attempted to leave work, same problem occurred, no power steering, same lights and messages on dashboard appeared.drove car to dealer, while issue was present so they could see it first hand.was told by same service technician that issue is not widespread only 3 cars affected.talked to internet sales manager at dealer he said he got 5 calls for the exact issue that same day. Both days issue occurred, air temperature was approximately 0 degrees fahrenheit.dealer attempted to provide a brand new q50 as a temporary loaner. Same issue occurred with that vehicle before leaving the dealership parking lot. Spoke with general manager at dealership, he indicated he was aware of problem and advised i call and open a case with infinti consumer affairs, which i did.he said he is continuing to sell these cars as infiniti has not told him to stop. I advised him to stop selling the cars before an accident occurs from the power steering failure.seems to be the same issue as existing recall, but was told by dealership's service manager my car was not part of the recall.
On several occasions this q50 sport suddenly begins pulling very strongly to the left, almost turning me into oncoming traffic in one instance. This issue has stopped and started again a few different times. No changes have been made to the vehicle and it happens while traveling on a level surface and usually lasts for a couple of hours then stops pulling but occurs again at seemingly random times. It is a profound and dangerous physical and "automatic" turn of the steering wheel while driving on a level, flat surface and the wheel must be held firmly to keep the vehicle operating in a straight line. It is easy to detect since it stops pulling as suddenly as it starts. The problem is not isolated to my case as there are other reports of the same issue online (some reports have it pulling right instead of left). The other reports are very similar in description and the level of resulting fear. I reported the issue to infiniti consumer affairs and also to the service department where i purchased the car. Surprisingly, infiniti did not instruct me to stop driving and seem to be taking the issue quite lightly. Their consumer affairs department said they would contact me in a few days with no additional instructions. For the second time (for this issue), i brought the car in to the dealer (6/6/14) and was told that they would "do what they can do" and if they can't repeat the problem there is likely nothing they can do. Huh? the first time, i was told i would get a call from an engineer which did not happen but i got a call from a service rep who told me to drive 30 mph and allow it to "reset" but was not asked to leave the car. On 6/5/2014 at around 8 pm pt, when it happened again, i took it in to the dealer (the following morning) and insisted that they take a more serious look at this lethal issue before someone (or me) has a serious accident. I have video of the issue.
Please refer to your campaign number i3v588000.it appears that more cars are affected than originally thought.my car is experiencing the same problem but has not been recalled.supposedly, infiniti recalled all 23 cars that were affected.there are obviously many more vehicles equipped with das that are experiencing this problem.
While driving, the car lost all power, steering and breaking capabilities. All of the dash warning lights lit up. Infinity replaced the abs system.
Steering wheel lock and malfunction at cold weather. Unable to turn the wheel. Able to restart and fix the problem. Happens daily in cold weather. Took to dealer software upgrade. Problem not fixed. Dealer tried a second time and still same issue. Was informed by the service center the problem could not be fixed yet. They are working on a fix.
I was backing up into a space and lost complete steering - automatic or manual.the steering wheel was turning freely and the front tires remained in the position they were in just prior to this incident.i stopped the car immediately and turned off the engine.after restarting the car, i continued backing up but felt the torque of the steering wheel alternating between power steering and manual steering....updated 12/03/15
The chasis control system error warning iis on also key system erroris on alsso the radio works but no sound from speakers
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact stated that while driving approximately 10 mph, the steering system failed.the contact stated that when he turned the steering wheel to the left it continued to drive straight. The identical failure occurred when the contact shift the vehicle into park. The warning lights also illuminated. The dealer towed the vehicle from a parking lot; however, the failure was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure.the approximate failure mileage was 1079.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact was driving approximately 25 mph when the power steering assist failed, causing the steering wheel to seize and become unaligned. The power steering and traction control warning lights did not illuminate until after the failure occurred. The vehicle was diagnosed by the dealer as the steering software needing an update. The contact was also advised that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number 13v588000 (steering) in which she experienced the same defect as listed in the recall campaign. The manufacturer was notified and no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 950.
I had 2 right side headlights blown out the led and infiniti says this never happens but it happen to me 2 times on the same exact side and the lights inside my car fleckerand burn out
Car did not want to turn--happened again at 2200 miles.carried to dealer at first time but problem was not fixed .first time it was very cold and the second time it was even colder.not happy with the system in place to handle the problem.. After filling up car at gas station, started car and began to drive away, after shifting into drive, warning lights came on and das drive system stopped working causing steering to become very difficult. (would compare it to driving a car with power steering that failed.)drove a couple of blocks, pulled over and turned off the car.waited a minute and re-started the car and everything worked, and warning lights were off.today (11-18-2013) returned the car to dealership service dept.they kept car and were awaiting a call from infiniti service rep.i noted online that this issue has been reported now in a number of cases....updated 12/29/15
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact stated that the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was towed to the dealer for diagnosis however, the technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign number: 13v588000 (steering) but was advised by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 4,950.
Adaptive steering failed while backing up car and was not able to turn wheel. I stopped the car, restarted the engine and it worked again. The outside temp was 9f, the message indicated a "system malfunction" and referred me to the owner's manual.
Unable to steer vehicle; steering wheel was not "locked", as a current infiniti recall is addressing.weather conditions were temp about 27degrees, about 2 inches of snow on the ground.vehicle did not respond to steering inputs, car was drifting to the right.at some point, steering response was restored and was able to drive car home.car is currently at the local infiniti dealership and issue has not been resolved.
Bought car on 12/30/17. Upon driving home the car swerved repeated into other lanes. As it was snowing out, i did not take it seriously. Then on 12/31/18 and 1/1/18 i did not drive. On 1/2/18 i emailed my sales rep and informed him of the swerving and my concern for safety. No response. Then on 1/3/18 i emailed jake william again and still no response. Ps i have copies of all emails. Then on 1/4/18 lia contacted me on my experience. I informed them and then jake called me. He informed me to bring to car back for an alignment check. I did. Service informed me my newly certified car was out of alignment. They said they fixed it. I drove it home and immediately informed jake willis it was still pulling both sides. I told him i am bringing it back tomorrow 1/12/18 and i would need to purchase a different car. He said i needed to speak to the gym. I spoke to steve (gm) at lia infiniti and he told me there is nothing wrong with the car and that it the way the car runs. Hhhmmm i need help with this. The car steering is not right. I have since looked on line to find out the infiniti q50 2014 has steering problem. What can i do?
Danger!!
Todaynovember 6, 2019, at about 12:30 pm after i started my vehicle the steering was very hard to steer and maneuver. I drove the vehicle back home but had a hard time steering. My vehicle has adaptive steering. I called about a recall that was issued for this problem and was told a software update was made in july of 2016. It appears that this has not resolved the issue and my vehicle may lead to a possible crash if i drive it. I was told that the issue was resolved despite the fact that i had an issue today. The weather was about 36 f and i don't believe it was a weather related. Issue. I was parked at a shopping mall at the time it occurred the vehicle was still warm when i started the vehicle.
Direct adaptive steering system fails at startup along with collision imminent braking system (or maybe vice versa).failure occurred 2x, but never when the vehicle was cold.turning off all active safety systems and then restarting the vehicle appears to remedy the problem.restarting alone was not effective.vehicle is currently at our local dealership and is having multiple control modules replaced.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. While driving approximately 20 mph, the contact lost control of the vehicle and collided into a residential building. The contact received minor injuries and received medical treatment. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not fully diagnosed. It was unknown if the air bags deployed. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 34,000.
Car intermittently turns by itself. It will make a left turn if i release my grip on the steering wheel at 35mph+. This is not an alignment issue, it is much more than that and also, the power steering has quit on 3 occasions, reverting to standard steering which nearly got me in a head on collision. Also, the steering issue will stop as suddenly as it starts. I know the difference between an alignment issue and a car that wants to turn by itself. This is a fight to keep the car going straight on a level, straight road then all of a sudden it will stop doing it! normally the problem lasts for 20-30 minutes and sometimes when i change steering modes, the problem will stop but not usually. Sometimes i pull over and shut the engine off as suggested by infiniti but that has never worked. Also, infiniti suggested that i do not touch or turn the steering wheel prior to starting the car as this may cause the problem. Really? this feeble attempt at a solution did not work but confirmed that they do in fact know there is a problem. Many other drivers of this car have experienced the exact same issue. Infiniti denies a problem exists. I have "self-videos" of the problem as it is happening. This is dangerous but i have no recourse. I have clear videos which show the car turning on its own. They say the car is operating as designed. The last occurrence was about 10 days ago and it was in the shop but once again, no solution. I have now had my car back for about 4 days since that last occurrence and it hasn't done it yet but i know from experience that it is just a matter of time. I am in socal and at one point, infiniti had 2 japanese guys who came from nashville to check the car out and that is the time they replaced the steer by wire system but that did not fix the issue. They clearly know there is an issue with this car.
Upon startup (in cold weather, but on a warm car that had only sat for 20 minutes between trips), the steering was extremely stiff. Had a steering indicator warning light(s) also show on the dash. Restarting the car several times showed that the steering would start ok (normal resistance), but that turning the wheel more than a little bit would result in a 'thud' sound, the error lights on the dash, and the steering going stiff. After repeated starts of the car, it eventually worked properly. This has subsequently happened several more times to the car in the following days. It can take 20+ cycles of turning the car back off and on again before the steering feel returns to normal.
On 12/26/2014 & 12/27/2014 at speeds between 5 mph & 30 mph, the car wanted to turn itself to the right...it required drivers correction with significant force to maintain a straight line on the road.on 12-27-2014, taking the car to the infiniti dealer (sacramento infiniti) the problem went away after reaching freeway speeds.i left the car with the dealer service department for diagnosis & repair.the service manager said he was completely unaware of this type of problem.the car has "direct adaptive steering" (a drive by wire system).
Steering wheel failed to respond. Wheels felt disconnected with the steering wheel. It could have been tragic if i was driving at a higher speed.....updated 12/03/15the dealer was unable to replicate the issue. Updated 12/07/15.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact stated that whiled driving, the steering wheel seized and became difficult to turn. As a result, the steering wheel was turned with excessive forced. The power steering assist warning light illuminated indicating steering chassis system control error. The vehicle was taken to warren henry infiniti dealer, (2300 ne 151st st, north miami, fl 33181, (305) 652-9999) and was diagnosed that power steering module might needed to be replaced or a software update. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure but did not assist. The failure mileage was approximately 89,000.
Das (direct adaptive steering) steer by wire system loses calibration which causes steering loss.dealers re-calibrate system but calibration loss continues.faults and errors don't register and backup steering system does not engage as the fault in the system is not triggered but makes the car undriveable and creates a major safety issue when calibration causes the car to steer (turn) without turning the steering wheel.this happens from start and in motion, both city and highway.in my experience always during warm weather and when driving straight.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. The contact stated that the vehicle was serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 13v588000 (steering); however, the failure recurred in above freezing conditions one year later. While driving 10 mph in a parking lot, the "chassis malfunction" warning light illuminated on the instrument panel and the vehicle failed to steer in the intended direction. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The manufacturer and dealer were made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 12,000.
My brand new infiniti q50, with directive adaptive steering, had less than 200 miles on it. Started it up (in cold weather, probably around 20) and the power steering warning light was on and the power steering was disabled. Waited a minute or two for it to warm up, and the chassis control system warning light came on as well.turned off car, turned it back on and power steering was working.took it back to the dealer and they updated the steering software.got the car back yesterday, drove to work today, got in the car to drive home and the power steering and chassis control system warning lights were on again, with no power steering.shut the car off and restarted multiple times but the power steering never came back.and for something special, i had to keep the steering wheel at about 45 degrees to keep the car moving in a straight line.
My complaint echoes all of those that precede mine. Nissan has to fix this before someone dies. With only 200 miles on my new q50 with das i made a left turn. The car went straight after the turn but the steering wheel locked in the left turn position. Almost immediately a message appeared on the odometer screen that said "warning . Suspension malfunction check owners manual". I could not turn the wheel so i stopped the car and shut it off. When i restarted the vehicle the steering worked and i drove it back to the dealer.i left it there and told the dealer i did not want to drive the car and that i wanted a full refund. The next two weeks were interesting and very sad. The dealer service department told me that they could not find anything wrong. Nissan told me that my car was not a part of the november, 2013 recall; that a recall had been issued in december, 3013, and another on the day i purchased the car. I was not informed of any of these recalls.if i had been informed i would not have purchased the vehicle.the dealer worked hard on my behalf, but they said that they could not refund all of my money without some "participation" fromnissan. I called nissan numerous times andi talked to a regional manager who told me that the malfunction had to occur two more times so that it would qualify under the lemon law. To qualify for a refund from nissan my wife and i would have to risk life and limb two more times. Unacceptable.i refused to take possession of the car, and the dealer got me out of the deal. It cost me some money and i am sure the dealer lost a few bucks. Nissan has a very real problem here. Someone is going to die. They should stand up, admit the problem, and fix it.
With the vehicle stationary, or at a very low speed, not sure but in a parking lot. I was backing out of a parking spot after transitioning from reverse to drive turned the steering wheel to the left rather quickly and the steering wheel came to an abrupt stop with a noticeable thud sound. After it stopped i was able then able to continue turning to the left but more effort was required and noticeably stepped feel to the movement for about 30 seconds. I have had this happed twice, and have experienced the stepped feedback on two other occasions but it took a lot longer for the feeling to go away.

Campers. The car does not have any alignment issues. Does not steer left or right. No pot holes rolled over. But the car is burning the tires from the inside wear of the tires equally in both front tires. Inifiniti dealer suggested i buy 4 new tires since all four are about the same since i have been rotating. And they blame the alignment of the car. I see no issues with my alignment and they say everything looks good underneath the car it's just out on line.
The chassis control module errorlight just come on ....also the gps and radio there is no sound and wont tune in the in touch not working
The chasis control system error warning iis on also key system erroris on alsso the radio works but no sound from speakers
While driving at approximately 30mph on a residential street with no other traffic, i heard a progressive cracking noise from the moon roof area.after pulling back the sun shade i saw that the moon roof had cracks throughout it but was still almost entirely in place.the moon roof was closed at the time.after stopping the vehicle, i saw that a small section of glass was missing.the section was along the actuator bar of the sunroof and there were pieces of glass on the roof on the exterior of the vehicle.the remaining intact section was bowed upward and outward.there were no other vehicles in the area that could have kicked up road debris, no impact was heard and no potential impact items were found.
2014 infinity q50. Consumer writes in requesting modification to vehicle contract. *ldthe consumer requested to exclude the boiler plate clauses from the purchase contract.
Ac is blowing warm air on driver side and cool on passenger side when both temperature are set to 60 degrees.
This vehicle has an electronic braking system that has made this car handle erratically and extremely unsafe in traffic situations. While traveling at speed if traffic in front of you happens to brake or swerve in front of you this car will brake uncontrollably without notice making it nearly impossible to avoid a collision or change lanes to maneuver around on obstacle or car. Myself and my wife are very scared to drive this car and in freeway traffic you cannot safely change lanes. We feel it is only a matter of time before this poorly designed system which cannot be disabled will result in collisions or death. This has happened more than a dozen timessince purchase in april 2014. We no longer feel safe driving this car.

My sunroof shattered.the car was parked in a parking lot and when we came back it wascompletely shattered and glass was everywhere. There were no signs of vandalism. It just exploded.
The contact owns a 2014 infiniti q50. While driving at an unknown speed, the sun roof shattered. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that there was some type of impact to the vehicle, which resulted in the sun roof shattering. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 24,000.
