My name is [xxx] , i have received a letter containing an urgent airbag safety recall on my infiniti i 35 2003. The letter from florida highway safety and motor vehicles states that hat there has been an airbag recalled for a safety defect in the airbag that could result in deathor serious injuryto me and/or my passengers. This happens to be my only vehicle and is extremely concerning because i have two small children, one with disabilities and the other is an infant! we depend on this vehicle everyday for specialty appointments and work! i need my car repaired as soon as possible, and while my care is being repaired, i will need another vehicle, as this is a huge inconvenience to my family!information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I receive a letter that my car front passenger air bag inflator has manufacture problem and may not come out in case of a accident, and infiniti say that they will fix it and i want to know were i can go and get it fix? as soon as possible.

Takata recall : i received a notice from the nys d of m stating that there was an urgent recall on my car, and listing the vin and make, model, year.i checked with your web site and found no recalls on my car. My infiniti dealer checked and found no recall for my car, but said there may have beenrecalls for that model, year, etc. But not for my vin. Who do i trust?

Takata recall--------my brother who lived in new york city gave me his 2003 infiniti i 35 when he retired from ny pd and gave me the infiniti. So i drove the car to calabash north carolina which is 10 minute drive to myrtle beach south carolina. For about 6 months or so no problems with the airbag however in the middle of the summer my airbag light comes on? so i called my brother and he told me the car already had the airbag replace per the recall. So i called infiniti to see if they could help me, they informed me that there was nothing they could do but they said i could go to a nissan or infiniti service. I go and the service manager told me it was $125 for diagnostic test. Called infiniti back and again i was informed that there was nothing that they could do. I have been driving for over 40 years and owned lots of cars never once did i ever have a problem with an airbag! i have owned foreign and domestic cars and again no airbag problems. What are the mathematical probability of my defective airbag system from only a infiniti i35 2003 being the only airbag problem with any automobile that i have owned in the last 40 + years? the math does not work they have a problem but they don't want to address it. It's the manufacturers fault not mine, what do they want me to do replace the airbag again? my gut feeling tells me that they didn't remedy the problem or the heat from living in the carolinas is adversely affecting my airbag. Please if you would save my email just in case i get hurt or killed because of there substandard airbag system that infiniti stated that they had no knowledge of a pre-existing substandard airbag placed in 2003 i35. Thank you for your time

Takata recall2003 infiniti i35 passenger air bags were recalled and replaced by dealer but drivers side air bag has not been recalled. Dealer will not replace driver's side takata airbag unless recall is announced. Drivers side takata airbag is "same design as passenger unit," and is "likely just as dangerous" according to infiniti dealer.2003 infiniti i35 and nissan maxima are identical shared platforms.

Driver side air bag not recalled yetconfirmed from dealer- airbag is takata airbag and prone to releasing shrapnel

The contact owns a 2003 infiniti i35. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 15v287000 (air bags). While driving 30 mph, the contact stated that the engine lost power and the vehicle stalled in the middle of traffic. The contact had to make several attempts for the engine to restart. The contact stated that the vehicle displayed symptoms of nhtsa campaign number: 03v455000 (engine and engine cooling), but the vin was not included. The contact stated that the check engine and s.l.i.p warning indicators illuminated. The dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and did not assist. The failure mileage was 4,500.

Service engine soon warning light came on, cause reduced engine power during vehicle operation. Take awhile to start back up. Drive a little then shuts off again. Highway or road.

Camshaft sensor according to the infiniti dealership (ray brandt on causeway in metairie la.) is malfunctioning at makes the car engine die while driving. Then when you restart the car the engine revs fine in neutral but once in drive it won't go over 5 mph. Also the timing chain tensioner fails on this car and can cause severe engine damage while the car is being driven. I've looked up both of these problems and have spoken with nissan and infiniti and a simple internet search will also confirm that these 2 problems are extremely common on this 5th generation engine. Nissan even lost 2 class action lawsuits on the timing tensioner. Well if nissan lost 2 court battles over an engine defect that every nissan internet forum says is a very very common problem then why isn't there a recall. And shouldn't hazing headlights be a safety issue on all cars? almost all cars have this problem and manufacturers keep building cars with unsafe headlights. Why aren't these recalls? thank you for this website.as an american citizen and consumer with a daughter these safety concerns are very troubling to me and all my friends and business associates.

The contact owns a 2003 infiniti i35. While driving approximately 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that there was a complete loss of power. In an attempt to correct the failure, the contact stopped the vehicle, placed it in the park position, and depressed the accelerator pedal. The contact stated that the vehicle accelerated. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. Nissan south of union city (4080 jonesboro road, union city, georgia 30291, (770) 964-4900) was made aware of the failure and requested a diagnostic be performed on the vehicle. A certified nissan independent mechanic replaced the alternator, starter, and battery; however, the failure recurred. The failure mileage was approximately 138,500.

The car suddenly loses throttle control under normal driving conditions; the engine return to "idle speed".i was driving on the expressway and all of a sudden the check engine light came on and the car started slowing down.i pressed on the gas pedal all the way down but the car refused to accelerate.i managed to pull over and stop the engine.and then restarted the car and it seemed to work ok for a while and then did it again.i managed to get it to the dealer and it has been there since while they try to figure out why this is happening.this problem started happening about a year ago.the throttle body has been replaced 4 times in the last year; the throttle body contains the electric actuator for the throttle and the sensors that tell the computer the position of the throttle.i am really concerned about driving the car in traffic because it could suddenly "cut out" and lead to an accident.

I bought a 2003 infinit i35 a year ago as my first car. I have been having problems with my vehicle dying for what seems to be no reason. No warning lights would come on not even a check engine light. I was driving on the highway when it happened a week ago. While i was driving it died a total of four times. When i tried to start it back up it wouldn't turn over. It would not take a jump. No fluids were low. No cables or terminals were loose. I ended up having to get the vehicle towed. At the time it had 216,000 miles roughly. When i did research, i found that there was a recall associated with infiniti models 2003-2004 that had faulty crankshaft and camshaft position sensors. The same symptoms that i had were matching up to the those of the recall. It was happening to those models having 113,000-225,000 roughly. When i searched with the nhtsa website and infinit i found that this was not associated with my vin number. I then took it toa mechanic and found that in fact those same sensors were faulty causing the vehicle to function incorrectly. So now i have to wonder why then my 2003 infinit i35 was not recognized as being affected by my recall when i now have proof that the same sensors associated with this recall are in fact faulty.

I understand that per campaign nhtsa # 03v455000 - crank/cam positon sensor weld, my veh was part of this recall.. Infiniti i35 2002-2003 and i was not notified.it shows that the circuit board for the cran position sensor have an improper solder joint due to solder deformation caused by heat stress acceleraton residue during the soldering process.this continously happent to my vehicle where my check engine warning light comes on , i have no power & the vehicle stops running with no warning during operation which is very dangerous.i have no ideal when the vehicle is going to shut off while driving leaving no control of vehicle.i called in reference to a current recall issue & also advised of this & was told by representative that this has expired & its is too late."what"my life is in danger just driving this vehicle.what can be done concerning this matter?

The contact owns a 2003 infinity i35. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted, but it stalled again. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it could not be diagnosed. The failure occurred on another occasion as the slip, tcs and the service engine soon warning lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken back to the independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the crank position sensor failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 158,000.

I've had the same problems that other infiniti i-35s have experienced in regards to losing power, engine cutting off and lack of braking. My car initially stalled while i was parked at a red light. After a few attempts to restart, it finally did. I made an appointment to see the dealer about this problem four days later. While driving to the dealer, my car engine lights all lit up and the car stalled and i had no braking ability. Fortunately, i was going only about 10 mph when this happened and was able to pull over to a lane without cars and applied my parking break to stop the car. After five minutes of attempting to restart, it finally did. I was only two miles from the dealer, so i slowly drove it there. They told me the problem was both crank sensors along with the crank shaft. I had them replaced at a cost of close to $1000. It seems to me that if there are so many complaints regarding this problem, it should be looked into as a safety recall issue. If i were going faster, i could have crashed into someone. One week before this happened, i was driving through mountain roads with many twists and turns. If this happened during that drive, i would probably be dead by now.

While driving down the street, the vehicle shut completely off.i could not steer or anything.it was not the battery, alternator.it just stop right in the middle of the street; which is very dangerous.i called the used car dealer whom had just sold me the vehicle less than 6 month whom had the vehicle towed.they indicated they fixed one of the sensor & there was electrical issues.it drove for about a year, now it is continuously doing the same thing, shutting down while driving.the check engine light will come on & slip/ tcs.the vehicle have endangered my life about 5 different time for the same reason with my grandchildren in the car.i know several people that are going thru the same thing.the dealer did not notify me of the recall on my vehicle. I had to find it out when trying to trade my vehicle.

Recall - nhtsa campaign id number: 03v455000. Engine stopped while driving in normal conditions which could have caused a catastrophic accident. Loss complete control of the vehicle and the "slip" light, "tcs off" and "check engine light" all came on with complete engine failure while driving with no ability to regain control. I took the car to a mechanic and was told there is a code "p0340" - camshaft position sensor failure. Infiniti corporate had issued a recall # r3021 for this major issue. When i called infiniti corporate to take part of this serious recall and service my vehicle, they did not want to help claiming that they did not mark my vin # for the recall. This is a major issue with most infiniti i35's and many nissans as well. Infiniti seems to not care and has put my life in complete jeopardy.

I'll start the car, then start to drive; maybe after 15-20 minutes, the car will stutter and act like its about to cut off, like a jerking motion.from there the tcs, abs, slip, and engine light comes on; it'll resume to drive, after those lights come on, i'll be driving on the highway and the car just shuts off; i then have to put it in neutral (while at high speeds) then attempt to start the car again.after about two times while in neutral it'll start again.this is a very, very, dangerous situation; i have two small children that go everywhere with me!i contacted infinite consumer affairs and gave them the recall number and the campaign number and they stated that my car didn't fall into the range of vin numbers up for recall, when everyone else is complaining about the same exact thing; the only thing that the lady said is that my car is up for recall is the passenger airbag, help please!

While driving on the freeway last night during rush hour my car engine just stopped. . the dash lights came on,( slip, tcs, brake, check engine soon, oil and battery). I was able to get to the shoulder safely. Very scared but safe i was in the middle lane. Turned off ignition waited a few and restarted. Took surface street the rest of the way.3-4 hours it started fine, howeverwhile driving back 25 mileson a residential street it happened again. Got it stared and somelights remained on (slip, tcs, check engine soon).haven't started it today.going to mechanic on monday.only have 65000 miles on the car. I phoned infiniti consumer affairs and was told my vin wasn'tand is not part of any recall and if it turns out to be the same issue i still have to pay for diagnosis and repairs.

I bought a used 2003 infiniti i-35 about a year ago and it was running fine until about a week ago when the engine suddenly shut off without warning while i was driving through an intersection.it really upset my girlfriend because we could have been 't-boned' on the passengers side and she could have been killed.when i got the car started it ran fine, like normal, except the 'slip', 'tcs', and 'check engine soon' lights all remained on.this has happened several times since then and now i'm concerned.i think that it might happen at another intersection and we won't be so lucky next time.the car has restarted everytime, with the slip, tcs and check engine lights staying on as before, except the check engine light always stays on all the time.from the complaints i have read on-line by several others that have had the same problem, it seems clear to me that this problem has been continually occurring in all models of the infinity line year after year, and the nissan motor company doesn't want to admit that there is a problem that they knew about and could have corrected but didn't, so they will not be held responsible in any wrongful death lawsuits.

Car stalled while driving down the road at a speed of 30 mph. Diagnostic test revealed codes for camshaft/crankshaft position sensors. Vehicle not included in recall. Mechanic verified that the sensors failing were the problem. Car towed to home. Sensors have been replaced and failed again!

The check engine soon light, slip warning, and the esc light all came on and the car shut off while i was driving.i steered the car to the side of the road.tried to restart the car. It restarted, but the start was tepid.drove the car to work.made an appointment with the infiniti dealer.drove to dealer and the event happened again but did not stall.service department stated it was a bad cam sensor that needed replaced.researched this and found that nissan/infiniti had recalled i35's for bad crank shaft / cam sensors under recall r3021/03v-455.though close, my vin did not fall into the covered population, even though the described issue in the recall is exactly what happened to me.the dealer is not able to replace the sensor under the recall.why is this?how is it determined what vin's fall into the population?it is clear that i and others are having the exact same issue as was noted in the recall.

The car loses power after a while and will just stop as if it ran out of gas. This has happened several times, otherwise the car is ok. The mechanic suspects it has something to do with the crank position or circuit board. There was recalls on this model in 11/2003 and 12/2003 that describe exactly what happens to my vehicle. This slowing down to stopping happened on a major expressway and i had to be towed. It also happened again in my street and driveway having to be towed again.

Vehicle would not start...thought it was the battery..but everything was tested and said to be ok..still having issues with an intermittent non start////

My daughter was stopped at a red light.the car stalled and had to be pushed from the intersection.it started several minutes later.the car has stalled on me several times prior to this when the car has come to a stop and sometimes when in motion.i took it to my mechanic and he informed me of an infinity recall.i went to the dealer and they said my car was not part of the recall.i called infinity hq and they said the same thing.it's amazing that i have the exact problem so may cars were recalled for but they insist my car is not part of the recall.i now see many other i35 owners have the same problem i do.i will have to have my mechanic fix it since infinity is taking no responsibility!

As i was approaching an intersection to make a left turn my car died suddenly.i wasn't sure what was happening.since it started up immediately i didn't really think anything of it.since the check engine light stayed on, i brought it in to my mechanic and he checked it out and thought he had fixed the issue.i had no issues for a short period of time.when it happened the second time and i was driving 35 mph, i knew something had to be wrong.this time the check engine soon light, slp and esc light all came on and the car starts jerking forward and then the car died.i managed to steer the car from the left lane to the right lane and pull over. It was a really strange and scary feeling.i told my mechanic what happened and he said cars just don't die as you are driving them and i said well this one did.i brought it to my mechanic again and the code p0345, cam sensor came up.after bringing it in a few times for the same issue, check engine soon light, slp and esc light all coming on and the car jerking forward we decided to see if there were any recalls on the car.our research showed that there was a recall on this issue and we should contact infiniti. I contacted infiniti and they said my vin is not on the recall list for this issue.my question is what does it take for infiniti to own up that there is an issue with owners driving a car and it dying suddenly? obviously it will take a few serious accidents.i brought my car into the dealer today hoping that they will fix this issue.when i told the dealer what was happening he said you have a technical issue and it is not a recall.

October 3rd 2013 iwascomingback fromlunch driving backto work. While iwasonthe road driving my vehicle stopped in the middle of the road with cars still behind me. Iwas almost rear ended that dayas i did not expect my vehicle to turn off while driving. I got the vehicle towed on october 3rd 2013 to r&s here in charlotte north carolina. The mechanic called me saturday october 5th 2013and told that mycrankshaft position sensor was what went out while iwasdriving. The mechanic also informed methatmycar make modeland year has recalls on crankshaft, camshaft and timing variable. I also checked myselfandthis informationwas true. Online recalls for year were engine and cooling and airbags. I got my car fromcarmax 2009andnever was informed of the recalls sothat i could get the issue resolved. My car had one ownerbefore i purchased the car from carmax. I calledthe infiniti toll-free consumer line andthey did nothing but say its vehicle specific andthattheyseennothing for my vin number. My 2003 infinity i35stalsl while driving on local roads and busy state highways located in the greater hilton head sc area.it requires coasting to theside of the road, turning the vehicle off. The service engine light turns on.i then can restart the engine and return to my home as soon as i can.i researched the problem and found a recall notice that described my problem.since discovering the problem, i took it to the dealer and they informed me that my vehicle was not covered by the recall.i have taken it back to them twice now to fix this problem at my expense. The problem has again returned and i don't want to pay a 3rd repair bill to fix a problem that others are getting fixed under the recall ( 03v455000).this is getting expensive, very dangerous, and eliminates the use of my car by my wife.she is afraid to drive it and i understand her fear.what additional information is needed to get this problem taken care of.

My vehicles crank/cam sensor i believe has gone bad. I was driving on a city street, the car was driving fine and it was like the engine shut off but it was not i could drive 1 mph, and car would not rev up. I saw there were recalls on this for infinitis made in 2202-2003 but for some reason my 2003 infiniti is not included in this! car no longer will move.

Driving on highway @55mph when engine stopped functioning. Lost power steering and power brakes and careened off the road almost hitting a house. When i went to start the engine it had great difficulty ( took about 30 seconds ) when it finally started the service engine soon, tcs and slip lights were on. Took car to mechanic and was told that the crank angle sensor and cam position sensor is faulty but nissan and govt. Failed to add the proper vin numbers to the recall because this is the 30th car he's seen with the exact same problem and he knew immediately what it was when he saw the combination of indicator lights and vehicle problems.

Car shuts down. Over three years ago it died while driving. I took it to the infinity dealership. They told me it was cam sensor. Had it & crank sensor replaced. Problem persisted. Took back to infinity & was told it was the cylynoid. Had thatbreplace. Problem persisted. The infiniti dealer said the timing chain need replaced but my car was not worth spending that amount of repair. My car is well kept with it just now tirning over 100,000 miles. I got a second opinion from a certified custom nissan/infiniti shop. He laughed at the timing chain suggestion. They have built & repaired thousands of my vehicle & others witj timing chains ...chains do not have issues on cars with very little milage & grandma driving style!. They changed the sensors for me again using original infiniti parts. My car ran fine for 2 years. Now i face the same problem once more. Unfortunately beyond recall limit that i am certain the dealership knew about 3 years ago which would have been within recall correction time limits!my car looses all power & all dash lights come on (engine, tcs, slip, brake, etc). Soetimes it will instantly come back alive. Most times it is just dead. Scenarios vary: 60 mph on freeway, sitting at red light, upon acceleration, going 5 mph, after 5 minutes of drive time, after days of drive time, ... There is no pattern or peticular action that causes it. It is very scary & dangerous to me & all around me. Now i have a great car in like new condition with only 100,000 miles, paid for, that i have to replace with no money or continue to endanger myself & others. I am furious. !!!!is there nothing else i can do? is there nothing that infiniti can do?

I was driving on the parkway with my family and i was traveling at approx 60 mph. Out of no where a tcs and abs light came on the i decreased to 5 mph without warning and couldn't go faster. I had my foot all the way down to the pedal and vehicle wouldn't drive. This appears to be a camshaft sensor issue from what i see. There was a recall on this issue but i'm being told my vehicle was not an affected car. Others have all had the same happen with this same vehicle and i find it strange that because our vin numbers weren't recalled that we are out of luck. I have brought my car to the dealer twice and they can't figure out the problem. I am so frustrated with this whole situation.

Recently, i have noticed sudden surge of acceleration @ low speeds...and today it stopped all of a sudden while driving. It happened twice today and the steering wheel locks itself. The first time it started immediately after coming to a halt but the second time it stopped in the middle of the road. Tried restarting... Multiple attempts, no luck. Tried again, gave a 5 min break and then it started.

We were driving locally at normal speed and the car suddenly lost power as though we ran out of gas.we were able to slide somewhat to the side of the road.after a while, the car started again and we thought it was just some kind of fluke. We are senior citizens and do not drive a great deal however we thought all was well and in august we road on the highway 95 to connecticut and the exact same thing happened after wearrived and were pulling into a local mall, once again we had to be towed.if this had happened to us on 95 we would have been killed.about a week ago my daughter was driving at normal speed in this area locallyand the same exact thing happened, at nightand the car would not respond and a tow truck had to be called and the car towed to a service station. The next day we spoke to the mechanic and he said he drove the car allover and did testing and found nothing.this is a very serious matter.my daughter often has her baby in the car and so even more danger is involved.i contacted infinity and they said there is no recall but we saw many complaints by owners on the web search, infinity 35 2003, with the exact same complaint. Does there have to be fatality to force some action?

For the last year the engine of my 2003 infiniti i35 has been making a noise upon acceleration (while the engine is under stress) especially on inclines.i have brought the vehicle to pepe infiniti, they've duplicated the noise, yet they haven't done anything to rectify the problem although the vehicle is still under the manufacturer's warranty.i have contacted the infiniti corporate office to no avail.i am filing a complaint to hopefully get some resolution regarding this matter.

The contact owns a 2003 infiniti i35. While driving between 35-40 mph, the vehicle decelerated without warning. The contact placed the transmission into neutral, restarted the engine, and the drove away safely. An independent mechanic came to the contact's home to diagnose the vehicle, but the test could not be read. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer wasmade aware of the failure and did not assist. The dealer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 128,000.

Replaced complete exhaust system, all o2 sensors, both cam sensors, fuel pump with strainer, fuel pump relay, spark plugs and coils, fuel regulator, had key programmed, key antenna replaced, vehicle fails to start

The contact own a 2003 infiniti i35. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the vehcile decelerated, loss motive power, and stalled with an unknown warning light illuminated. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, restarted the vehicle and continued driving however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed. The contact was notified of a camshaft cylinder misfire. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure persisted. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 117,440.

The contact owns a 2003 infiniti i35. The contact stated that while operating the vehicle, the front heated seats would erroneously activate and become very hot. The vehicle was taken to the dealer however, the technician was unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 20,000. Pam

Car stops without warning on city street

The contact owns a 2003 infiniti i35. While driving approximately 25 mph, the brake and engine lights illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. I was driving at around 30- 35mph and suddently car slowed down with brake light on. I turned the emergency lights on and moved to right most lane. Swtiched off the car. Swithed on back. It worked fine. It happened twice with me. Only worry is that while travelling on freeway if car siddenly slows down, which may be extermely dangerous. So need advise what is required to be done.

The brake pedal and accelerator pedal are close together.with my size 12 foot, it is easy to accidentally have my shoe on both pedals.the car has enough engine power to overcome the braking system, and lead to a collision.with the abs and tcs (traction control system) on this car, i would like to see an interaction to limit power if the abs is activated.my rear tires were trying to stop the car (almost dragging) and with the car under power (both pedals depressed) the abs was activated but i was still accelerating forward.if the tcs was limiting the power, i would have had enough time to stop or had enough time to remove my right foot off of the accelerator pedal and reposition my foot correctly and firmly on the brake pedal.

I was parking my 2003 infiniti i35 on the third level of a santa monica city parking structure when my car suddenly surged.i immediately put my foot on the brake and turned the car (i was heading into a wall).i held my foot on the brake until it finally came of a complete stop.the car hit the wall of the parking structurecausing damage to the paint on concrete parking structure wall and major damage to the automobile.while the car hit the wall on the passenger side, the damage due to the power of the impact was on both sides of the car. In 2005 dollars the repair cost was just under $15,000 and the car was in the body shop for six weeks.at the time of the accident i filed a report with my insurance company(21st century insurance), the infiniti corporate office (which was in gardena, california) and the california department of motor vehicles.nissan sent me a letter saying that their technical specialist found no evidence of a product defect, failure or malfunction.i never felt safe in the car after the accident.i sold the car a couple of years later. I did not sue and i do not expect any financial settlement.i am only filing this report now for the nhtsa to have a record. I originally purchased thenew car in 2003 from a nissan infiniti dealer. All records are available for inspection.

I have an infinity i35-2003 with 77,644 miles; the front struts failed. The dealer said that they have never heard of such failure before. The consequences would have been disastrous had it happened on the highway. It seems the struts were inherently defective and replacement cost was over $ 1000.00.

The contact owns a 2003 infiniti i35. The contact stated that the tcs warning indicator flashed, the vehicle failed to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed, and the vehicle stalled intermittently. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The vin was not available. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 179,000.

Car stalled while driving down the road at a speed of 30 mph. Diagnostic test revealed codes for camshaft/crankshaft position sensors. Vehicle not included in recall. Mechanic verified that the sensors failing were the problem. Car towed to home. Sensors have been replaced and failed again!

The contact owns a 2003 infiniti i35. While driving 45 mph, the service engine and tcs/slip warning indicators illuminated. The engine power reduced and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was restarted and accelerated independently. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the cam shaft position circuit failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number:03v455000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000.

While driving thecar does not respond to the gas pedal by accelerating sometimes. I have been at very low speeds while turning a corner or at very high speeds while driving on the freeway and the car will not respond to the fact that i am pressing the gas. The only way that i can get it to accelerate is by slamming the brake quickly. Somehow the jolting of the car causing it to respond appropriately to the gas pedal and to accelerate. I am concerned because driving on the freeway and my car just starting to slow down randomly and not accelerate to keep up with the flow of traffic, and the only way to get it to do so is to slam on the brake is very dangerous and i cannot control how closely others follow me while driving.

While driving 30 mphsteering pulled to the right. Consumer applyied the brakes, however the vehicle accelerated. As a result, consumer lost control.no impact reported.
