I was traveling approx. 70 mph on the interstate and the vehicle "jerked", lost power and re-accelerated without losing power.the tcs off/slip and service engine soon lights all came on simultaneously.i stopped by the store and had difficulty starting the car.i immediately drove to advance auto parts to have it "diagnosed" because it was right across the street.it was diagnosed as a "cam shaft position sensor".our mechanic recommended we contact infiniti because there was a recall for this same issue (03v455000). I contacted taylor infiniti in augusta, ga and was told by the service manager, chandra, that the recall campaign had ended. She also knew nothing about the airbag recall campaign (13v136000), and there was nothing more she could do to help me.within a couple of days, the car began shutting off while in operation (while slowing down, stopped at red lights, in the middle of intersections, etc.).i have not driven the vehicle in 3 weeks, as it is obviously not safe to drive. I have checked several online infiniti owner forums, and there are literally thousands of people who are having this same problem.i wasn't aware that safety recalls had an "end" date.i called taylor infiniti back and was told my vin wasn't included in any of the campaigns. I feel strongly that the recall for this issue should be re-opened and include a wider range of vin numbers, if not to include all '02 i35s. I am terribly frustrated because i don't feel as if i should have to pay hundreds of dollars for repairs that are obviously related to this issue.coincidentally, we also replaced the lower control arm on my car in december of 2012 at an out-of-pocket cost of over $800, when this issue was also the subject of a recall campaign (02v146000), which they also said my vin was not included in.i was told the car "is an '02, and these issues are sure to arise".

I own a 2002 infiniti i35. While i was driving at approximately 35 miles per hour, making a left turn, i was hit on the rear driver's side (t-boned). Non of my air bags deployed and i was severely injured. I sustained injuries to my neck, both shoulders and my back. The driver of the other vehicle illegally ran a stop sign. My vehicle was taken to my residence and was not repaired. As a direct and proximate result of the accident i have been permanently disabled and constantly dealing with the pain. I'm sure i would be in much better shape if the airbag would have deployed. I called the police and reported the accident when it happened. I have not informed my manufacturer of the issues that i have experienced as of yet. My vehicle currently has about 166,000 miles. Another issue my 2002 infiniti i35 was having, not related to the accident referenced above, was stalling without warning on several different occasions. This happens sometimes when i am driving. When this happens, the lights on my dash panel blink on and off rapidly for a few seconds and then turns off completely. My steering wheel locks up at that time as well.

I drive a 2002 infiniti i35 i was involved in a classic t-bone collision the front end of my vehicle totally destroyed and both vehicles were totaled. The passenger airbag deployed in my vehicle but the driver airbag did not deploy. I was wearing my safety belt. When i reported the incident to nissan/infiniti their response was to send the 2009 airbag safety manual and stated that their were no differences between the 2002/2009 model vehicles. The investigator claimed that the sensors detected the safety belt was in proper use therefore my airbag did not need to be deployed and since my passenger seat belt was not engaged that it deployed as a cautionary measure. My response was to insist on the 2002 i35 airbag safety document. It was forwarded 4 days later with striking differences, namely that there are no sensors in the interior cabin of the 2002 model as stated by the nissan/infiniti investigator. I asked if there were no sensors other than the ones in the bumper on my 2002 model how then did the communication occur in my seat belt that caused my airbag to not deploy and the passenger airbag to deploy. When her report was challenged she said her assessment was accurate and she was standing by it. She has not physically examined my vehicle to determine causation of the failed airbag deployment. I believe that the airbag is defective i was traveling 35 mph, there was no skid prior to impact both vehicles traveled an additional 20 ft. From impact point. Significant injury occurred and i feel nissan has failed to do their job responsibly for their customers safety.

I was in a car accident on 10/8/09 and was hit in the front of my car at approx. 55mi per hour. My passenger air bag deployed, but my driver side did not. I did not have a passenger in the car. I called infiniti consumer affairs, and they told me, if the airbag feels the driver is rigid enough and that the seat belt will hold them back, it will not deploy. Why would an airbag and a seatbelt work properly when no one was in the seat, yet the driver one did not?

Driver side air bag deployed while sitting at a traffic light.

The tcs off and slip lights after a noticeable miss while accelerating, the vehicle fails to accelerate when the accelerator pedal is depressed, and then the vehicle stalls, regardless of traveling speed, resulting in total loss of power steering and power braking. After stalling, the vehicle sometimes will restart on first attempt, other times it takes a few tries or turning the key to on position for 5 seconds and then turning it back to off, repeating 2-3 times then starts.the problem is persistent, the vehicle continues to fail at random almost every time it's driven as short as 1 mile distance, but has also been driven 20 miles without failing. While driving a daily route, the problem often occurs at a common location, whether related to distance, terrain, or coincidence is unknown.

I had recently had some work done on my car to replace the right bearing wheel and the power steering line, as there was a leak and loud roaring noise when driving on the highway as confirmed by the mechanic. About a week later, i was driving on the highway (at about 65 mph) when all of a sudden i felt a jerking in the car, suddenly the engine light turned on, and the the temperature gauge shot all the way up. I pulled to side of the road as soon as i could because i saw white smoke coming from under the hood. I had bought this car about 2 years ago from my uncle and i had taken the car to the dealer for the takata recall. They never mentioned anything else. Then about a month before this all happen my uncle sent me a letter (as he had moved away, regarding another recall on the i35. I was planning on taking the car to the infiniti dealer for the recall after replacing the power steering line and front right wheel bearing. However i did not even get a chance to do so. I would really like to know if my situation has anything to do with a recall.

Piston rings are failing in this vehicle. Many other vehicles that use this same engine may have the same piston rings, such as the infiniti g35, or nissan maxima which use the 3.5l vq35de engine of similar years. The piston rings were originally designed for the vq30 block, and were fitted to vq35de pistons. These rings are not capable of consistently handling the higher compression ratio of the vq35de engine found in this car. Symptoms include random misfiring of cylinders, whether the car is in motion or stationary, increased oil consumption (up to 2 qts/1000mi), loss of engine power that can result in a crash, damage to internal engine components,

85% of all accidents occur during low light situations. The new plastic lights are economically unreasonable to replace. The lights for my 2002 vehicle are $1,000.00 each. The lights are all sandblasted and foggy and do not emit light well. I can't afford to replace the lights when the lights cost almost as much as the car. The manufacturers should make the components economically feasible to replace or make them out of glass which will not fog over or be required to replace the lights free as long as the vehicle is drivable. Once the lights have become fogged polishing them only lasts for around 30 days. Repetitive polishing will change the optics of the light and eventually you will polish clear through the plastic. These lights are a major safety issue.

85% of all acidents occur in low light conditions. Times when your headlights should be in the best condition. These plastic headlights are not repairable and the replacement costs are prehibitive to replace them on a regular basis when they fog over or get sand blasted. The manufacturers should make the components economically replaceable or they should have to replace all of the headlights that are cloudy or sand blasted. I have a car approaching 12 years oldand the head light buckets are $1,000.00 each. That is criminal. Glass headlights are $20.00. Have all manufacturers provide replacement headlights at an economical price or make them recall every stinking one of them. Polishing the headlights only lasts for about 30 days then they fog over again. Age does something to the plastic. These lights are extremely unsafe.

As the car crossed into the intersection of on-coming traffic, i took the automatic transmission from "drive" into "neutral". The car stopped and rpms increased indicating a stuck accelerator.i tapped the accelerator pedal twice and the car went to idle. I had the car towed to the infiniti dealership who still has it and has not been able to duplicate the problem. Although nobody was hurt, if anyone would of been in the crosswalk, i would of killed them and it was a matter of a few feet from cross traffic so a very close call indeed.

I have had two transmissions in this 2002 infiniti i35 and now may have to have the third. Summer of 2011 i experienced intermittent issues with the engine racing and the transmission apparently disengaging, with no power to the wheels. First time i took it to the dealer they couldn't detect any problems as there was no service engine soon warning on the dash board so their computer couldn't detect a problem.happened again and the technician told me not to turn the ignition off when i got to the shop but to let the engine keep running. He drove the car back to the shop and hooked it up to the computer. The problem was diagnosed as the torque converter clutch function code along with p0720 and p1574, check engine light concer ' ip006, (failing), and i was told i had to have both a torque converter and a transmission. The price for a new one was too high and i opted for a used torque converter/transmission and now, 5/2/2012, less than a year later i am having the same problem as before. Several times this loss of power to the wheels has happened when pulling into traffic and is extremely dangerous.another issue is the suspension and steering. I have had to replace the struts because the front end would vibrate veer left and right and lose some control over the steering when driving over rough pavement. Even after strut replacement the issue still persists. August of 2011 around the same time transmission was replaced i had to replace the radiator which burst at a seam. It was replaced before the transmission and at a different shop, and not at the dealer's shop.

According to them, their road tests , two tests, a drivefor 15 minutes and the other was to get the car's speed up to 80 mph on an in-shop rolling machine, revealed no errors. My contacting infiniti's national consumer affairs office resulted in no tangible assistance.the dealer drove the car to baltimore, 8/20/04 and reported no problems. Interstate 95 was used (its not the same as route 50 with high speeds and frequent, quick(er) stops. The car is not working and needs to be corrected; it is dangerous. Infiniti will not proceed since computerized analysis reports no error messages.in june, 2004, we had taken the car to jba of ellicott city complaining that the car was demonstrating problems: at stop signs, on occasion, the car would not move forward, the engine would race, then the car would lunge forward. That dealership again commented that there was no problem registering on its computer testing, therefore, no problem. It seems that the firm's testing methodology isn't either comprehensive enough or limited to only computer analysis. The car has a defect and this firm can't or won't reach out of the box to try and solve it, excusing any effort on their part because their computer results disclose no "error message".

The vehicle was traveling about 35 mph when all of a suddendriver heard a loud noise coming from the passenger side.owner got out the vehicle, and noticed that the axle bearing sheered off. Manufacturer was notified by consumer.

The contact owns a 2002 infiniti i35. The contact stated while driving 5 mph, she could not move her seat forward enough to reach her brake pedal which caused her to crash into another vehicle in front of her. The crash was a minor incident. There were no damages to the consumers vehicle, but there damages to the other vehicle and there were no injuries.. The dealer was contacted and stated that the vehicle had no warranties on it. The vehicle was taken to another repair shop where the mechanic stated that the motor to the seat failed and it needed to be repaired. The motor was repaired at the owners expense. The failure mileage was unknownand the current mileage was 84000.updated 10/26/10. *ljupdated 10/26/10

2002 infiniti i-35 engine stalled while driving. Consumer states that the mechanic replaced the bank 1 and bank 2 camshaft sensor at his expense. Consumer had recall work for crank position sensor and camshaft position sensors done prior to incident.the driver side seat would not move forward or backward. The dealer stated the power seat motor failed.

Frozen rear brakes, evident after hearing some noise in rear. First incident was 5 years ago. Corporate infiniti would not help pay for repair, calling my home state (ny) a "salt" state. Now the same failure occurred costing another $750.both the infiniti dealer then andmy local repair shop now admit that infinitis have that problem!!brake calipers don't release causing pads, rotors etc. To scrape brakes to death. I now have 89,000 mi.not that much use for 5 yrs.

I have an infiniti i35 that has a vibration problem. Infiniti has attempted to fix this 5 times over the last year. I had the same problem in an i30 that i received as a loaner car from my delaership. I've also been told by a friend that he heard of a person with the same problem. During a conversation with infiniti consumer affairs i was told that this was a known issue and that it is dealt with on a case by case basis. The service manager at the dealership stated that he knew this was a problem also.

I called my local dealership and they refuse to service the recall over the weekend, making it almost impossible for someone who works full time on an hourly basis to get this change done without issue.

Continous rattling noisefrom the dashboard in every bump of the road regardless of speed. This happens only when outside temperature less than 30 degree farenheit. Took to the dealer twice with no fix.

I was driving on the highway and heard knocking sounds coming from the front right-side lower area whenever i ride over a small bump or uneven areas on the road it sound like a suspension problem. I took my car to the dealer and some part of the suspension was fixed. Now the knocking sound is back along with a squeaking noise. I spend approximately $3,500 and seem to have the same dangerous defect. Thank you,

Experienced sudden loss of accelerator control and lost nearly all power while merging onto the highway.lost all power in second lane. There were no warnings.absolutely no response when pressing down on the accelerator.car was only idling.nearly was rear ended while trying to get onto emergency lane.car was towed to mechanic.a faulty throttle body sensor was identified as a root cause of the sudden power loss, which yields the accelerator unoperational.

Our 2002 infiniti i-35 has accelerated on its own 3 times. The first time we were turning around in our friend's driveway and it took off in reverse.the second time we were first in line at a stop light. The third time, i was moving the car in our driveway and it went through our neighbor's fence causing $8,000 damage to our car. The dealer in grand rapids said they never heard of such a thing. The dealer who sold the car and infiniti have not answered our e-mails. Infiniti corp headquarters pretty much told us too bad on the phone.

Traveled approx 25 miles.was first in line to approach a red stop light.as the accelerator was let up and brakes applied, the car did not stop.

Government reports indicate that 85% of all accidents occurr during low light situations. The new plastic lights, that come on every automobile, are economically unreasonable to replace when they get sand blasted or fogged over from exposure to the sun and other elements of nature. The lights for my 2002 vehicle are $1,000.00 each. The lights are all sandblasted and foggy and do not emit light well. I can't afford to replace the lights when the lights cost almost as much as the car. The manufacturers should make the components economically feasable to replace or make them out of glass which will not fog over. If not that then the manufacturers should be responsible for replacing the lights free as long as the vehicle is drivable and on the road legally registered for that function. Once the lights have become fogged,or blasted, polishing them only lasts for around 30 days. Repetitive polishing will change the optics of the light and eventually you will polish clear through the plastic. These lights are a major safety issue and should be addressed by either the manufacturers or the government.
