I recently took my car in for a regular smog check, and the technician reported that there is 1 open recall for my vehicle. I called and made an appointment with infiniti of roseville. Brought my vehicle in and the tech told me theres no need to replace the affected parts being as the car has 202k miles.

Takata recall.

Takata air bag recall, involved in a front end collision with the car. Other vehicle at fault, ran stop sign. Car was total loss, airbags never deployed. Daughter sustained minor injuries.

The lite for the airbag stays on;also the main computer for the car failed and had to be replaced as the car would not start

Airbags did not deploy when an oncoming vehicle hit my car. It is a total loss.

Concerns nhtsa recall 13v-136relates to possible defective air bag inflater.infinity states that replacement will only be made at an infinity retailerwe live in missoula, montana and the nearest infinity retailer is in spokane wa over 200 miles from our home. We do have a very good nissan dealership who has made all of our necessary repairs since we have owned this vehicle. Infinity is a division of nissan north america and it should be arranged that this recall be arranged at our local nissan dealership located less than 1 mile from our home. Missoula nissan is the sales and service local dealership, phone 406 549 5178. Infinity needs to make arrangements for this location to make the necessary replacement parts for this recall. "takata recall"....i received an airbag safety recall back in oct 2013.i took the car to kuni westside inifiniti, lynnwood, wa....they completed the recall with inflator -air bag, as-k8e61-7994d.i am unaware as to which air bag was replaced.recently the air bag indicator light on the dashboard started flashing.i called the dealership and was informed that there was no recent recall, just the one back in 2013.they informed me to make an appointment and they would check it out... The dealership is approx 80 miles away from my home.i am 88 yrs old andi have yet to take it in....what is the "flashing light" telling me???

Takata air bag recall. The contact's husband owned a 2001 infiniti i30. The contact stated that while her daughter was in line at a drive thru, a smell emitted throughout the vehicle without warning. As the burning smell progressed, she also saw white smoke coming from the rear end of the vehicle. The driver got out of the line and checked the hood of the vehicle where she saw flames coming the engine. Authorities were called to the scene of the fire; however, before they arrived, the vehicle had exploded. The air bags deployed upon explosion. No injuries were reported at the scene and a police report and fire report were filed. The vehicle was destroyed due to the explosion and was towed to an unknown location. Upon investigation, the contact discovered that there was a takata recall on the vehicle under nhtsa campaign number: 20v008000 (air bags) the manufacturer nor the dealer had been notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2001 infiniti i30. The contact stated while traveling at any speed, the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver and there was an abnormal clicking sound heard from the steering wheel. The vehicle stalled without warning on multiple occasions. The contact stated that the instrument panel had a short which made it impossible for the contact to see the gauges while driving. The contact continued to see the service engine sensor and brake light sensor illuminate intermittently. The radio and clock had not worked for an extended period of time. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer who diagnosed that the ecl computer had needed to be replaced. The vehicle was notrepaired. The contact was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 02v146000 (suspension) and had experienced the same failure on multiple occasions. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

I have a 2001 infiniti i30 and was driving the car on the highway with my son in the passenger seat and we started smelling rubber/plastic burning. A few seconds later we had a large amount of smoke and the car just cuts off at 55 mph and we had maneuver it off the road and we had to get out choking on the smoke and later found out from the nssan dealer that the ecm was on fire between my right leg in the car and my sons left leg. I had checked the safety and recall info on this car before purchasing it and no recalls.i now know from searching this issue on line that its a frequent issue that is linked from the idle air valve going bad and causing the ecm to fail and catch on fir in this case.

Consumer states:that air conditioning is locking up motor.this happens while driving vehicle, no power steering, no brakes, no lights in the dash come on. Towed car back to garage.

The contact owns a 2001 infiniti i30. The contact stated that while inspecting the radiator, the contact noticed that the frame by the lower tie bar was completely corroded. The vehicle was taken to dealer. The technician replaced the entire tie bar and re-welded it to the frame. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure.the vehicle was repaired. The failure mileage was 154,000.

Car stalls when driving or idling. Stalled at 15 mph in a traffic circle causing loss of power steering. Wife was driving at the time this happened. Had to pull to the side to restart. Stalls at idle when waiting for traffic light to change. Nissan knows this is a well known serious problem with the 2001 i30. The problem is the idle air control valve (iac), the engine control module (ecm), and the electric motor mounts which short out causing the iac to shortout which causes the ecm to shortout. Nissan knows this is a huge problem and still expects the owners to pay for their faulty engineering. This is a very serious and dangerous problem that needs immediate attention. This problem is talked about all over the internet by owners of these i30 and maximas.

The contact owns a 2001 infiniti i30. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle veered to the left and became inoperable. The failure occurred multiple times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 217,981.

Car has developed issues starting and maintaining smooth idle once started. Initially, a mechanic diagnosed the issues as the idle control valve. It was changed at a cost of $800. This did not alleviate the issue. After further tests, they determined it was the engine control module (ecm). This had to be changed by an infiniti dealership. When i went to the dealer, they informed me that the problem was with the throttle control body and would cost $1300 to repair and fix the problem. I inquired if this meant the ecm would need replacement and they said it wouldn't. After replacing the throttle control body, they informed me that the motor mounts needed to be changed since it interacts with the throttle control body and ecm and the idle control valve to make it all work properly. This would cost an additional $3900. At this point, since the car's blue book value is less than $3000, it no longer made sense to make the repair but i did have to pay the $1300 to cover the cost of the replaced throttle control body. My understanding is that this is a well-known issue to infiniti (and nissan) and they know the exact steps required to fix the problem. My complain is that they do not disclose the full spectrum and costs of the repair until after they've had you perform at least one of the three or four repairs "necessary to uncover the full extent of the problem" thereby ensuring they get paid at least $1000 or more just to get you on the hook for a larger bill later. This is essentially a bait-and-switch service scam and i'm hoping the nhtsa takes the manufacturer to task on this and issues an immediate recall related to this serious engineering/design flaw that requires substantial costs to the consumer to repair a known defect in the vehicle.

I was driving the car the engine was warm and running just fine. Then out of no where the car at 40 mph engine beginwildly revving the rpms went directly home and in park it was doing the same thing. Turned it off called a tow truck had it towed in to local shop. A check engine light came on showing a p0505 code. The shop replaced the iacm and then the ecu at a cost of over car was returned same code and check engine light on the mechanic said it would not relearn idle and to drive it around and see if that would help. I am an elderly woman and i spend the next few days riding the brake to keep the car in control. Idle was running high in park and drive. I was becoming afraid of the car and decided to take it to the infiniti dealer for repairs. With same p0505 code and check engine light and in less then seven days the iacm and ecu once again needed to be replaced. That's because the motor mounts failed and since they are fluidfilled they leaked causing the other parts to short out. The infiniti dealer said thethree parts are all on the same circuit but this is only known to infiniti mechanics. The repair is now over $3000.00 pus the first charge. This is way more then my car value. I researched this condition on the internet. Kids have been driving these cars when the failure occurs at 80 mph with both feet on the brake. I never write anything on the internet but i am concerned this is going to cause a crash and someone may be seriously hurt. Car has 110000. Miles i will pay for the repairs out of pocket but i think this should be a recall.

I've 2001 infiniti i30 at 82,000 mil. It's stalled randomly when stopping at stoplight or backed out from parking lot. Sent to local shop to diagnose that the idle speed control defected. Replaced by local shop mechanic and it's still the same. Sent it back for further trouble shooting, left vehicle there 1 week but still couldn't find any problem.sentto another shop said idle speed control problem. It does more often in the morning during cold weather than in the afternoon.

The contact owns a 2001 infiniti i30. The contact stated that while driving at 60 mph, the vehicle decelerated without warning and will not go over 20 mph. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage 130,000 and the current mileage was 134,000.

This seems like it would be a safety hazard to me if people were not made aware of this and the support for their engine came loose.

The contact owns a 2001 infiniti i30.after having the vehicle serviced for a tune-up, the engine began to stall.the dealer stated that the failure was causedby the throttle body and it needed to be replaced.on march 02, 2007, the throttle body was replaced and the failure continued to occur, it also caused his computer to become inoperable.the dealer stated that they are unable to assist him since there are no related recalls.thefailure mileage was 105000 and the current mileage was 108000.

2001 infiniti i30.electronic motor mounts fail, causing cascading failure of idle air control and destroying ecu.alternately, the idle air control valve fails and destroys the ecu which in turn destroys the electronic motor mount circuit which resides adjacent to the iacv circuit on the ecu main board.the resulting short circuit in either case causes acrid smoke to enter the passenger cabin of the car and causes the engine to rev wildly which, if not, accounted for, could cause and an unsafe surge forward if stopped. By empirical internet research and more importantly - from discussions with the dealer service technician, this is a problem experienced by several drivers/owners of the 2001 infiniti i30, and 2001 nissan maxima which are "sister" cars. This repair is very costly requiring a new ecu, iacv and electronic engine mounts plus the cost of reprogramming the cars idle learning curve - typically ranging between $2000 and $3500.the mfr knows of this issue by their demonstrated "procedure" for replacing these parts.

The contact owns a 2001 infiniti i30t. The contact was driving approximately 20-65 mph when the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was able to be restarted after placing the vehicle in neutral. The vehicle was not inspected by a dealer nor repaired. The dealer was contacted and they advised the contact that the failure could have been caused by the computer software, but the vehicle would first need to be properly diagnosed to determine the exact cause of failure. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 136,000.

The contact owns a 2001 infiniti i30.the contact stated that there was corrosion at the radiator and engine support of his vehicle.the dealer stated that the corrosion could cause the engine to fall out.since there was no warranty, the contact would have to pay for the repair.the failure is common for this type of vehicle.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 100,000.

Since oct 25 2006 i had to replace 2 sets of oxygen sensors and a lr wheel/abs sensor at my expense and allbefore 49,000 miles. I think a sensor problem exists or someone is taking advantage of me.

Vehicle experiencing problems with the transmission and front driveline. *yd

My infiniti 2001 i30 slips when shifting from first to second. This happens when the transmission gets a couple miles in city traffic. Sort of when the transmission gets warmed up. I have to stop the car and turn it of for a little. The solenoid valve assembly and the transmission control module cost @ 400 to 500.

Vehicle experiencing problems with the transmission and front driveline. *yd

After 40-50 miles of driving, vehicle (2001 infiniti i30) suddenly shifts down to second gear (so called "safe mode") without any warning and car will continue to run in second gear at 20-30 mph with corresponding revs of 4000-5000 rpms.if vehicle is stopped and ignition turned off for 15 min or so, situation may correct itself and normal operation resumes.

I heard a loud knocking sound in the front end ofthe car and noticed the car handling erratically.i pulled into a local sts tire and service center.the technicians indicated the front right axle failed and subsequently damaged the wheel bearing and hub.the damaged parts were left with the shop.

The dash signal for the air bag comes on despite the fact that i have put the harness on and continues to flash even after you start driving until you end your trip! it feels as though the harness is not set!!

When cold outside, my 2001 infiniti i30 recently started loosing power brake boost after the brake pedal is depressed two times. An internet search revealed that this is a common problem with various nissan/infiniti models. The problem, which i verified this morning is a check valve in the vacuum line coming from the intake manifold to the brake booster. I started the car, depressed the brake pedal twice to relieve the vacuum reserve in the brake booster and the pedal stiffened up with no vacuum assist. I immediately pulled the vacuum line from the brake booster and there was no vacuum at the booster with the motor running and thus no vacuum assist. After flexing and tapping the line in the check valve area, the checkball released with a click and vacuum was restored. This is a very very serious design flaw that is occurring on many nissan/infiniti car at this very moment, just do an internet search on "nissan brake problem when cold". This problem is particularly dangerous in that it occurs on start-up after the brake pedal is depressed several times(the vacuum reserve is depleted). This condition is likely to occur after moving into traffic. Although the braking system continues to work without assist, the force required to overcome the no vacuum assist is more than many female, older or teenage drivers can apply. The condition feels like there are no brakes even though the pedal does not go to the floor.something needs to be done (recall) immediately!i have not replaced the part(rubber vacuum hose with integral check valve) yet, because i know to depress the brakes at startup several times before i move the car. I do have the part and will be more than happy to video tape the failure on the next cold morning(below32 degrees approx) or i will send the hose to you for testing.if i were the only person with this problem, i would consider this disturbing, but not a design problem. I only figured out what the real problem is(checkvalve) on the internet.

I own a 2001 infiniti i30.i have a recurrent problem with the brakes on this car.the car shakes so much when i'm braking driving at around 65 mph. It makes me very nervous because i have a two-year-old child in the back seat.i have taken it back to the dealer three times.the first time was when the car was only about a couple years old.the first two times, they fixed the problem with the rotor and the brakes for me without charge.the service person agreed that this is a recurring problem with this model.the third time i took my car back, they refused to fix it without charging me.and the new service personnel that was there denied that there is anything wrong with the braking/rotor system ofthis model.i have researched a little bit more, and have found that other car owners have also had similar problems with this model.i'm not sure what to do at this point to get this problem fixed.if i have to pay to fix the rotor/brakes problem every year, then that would be very expensive.i have owned other cars before, and i never have so much problems with the brakes so often, especially in a relatively new car.

While driving about 65 mph and cruise control set, consumer tappedbrake to slow down. Instead, vehicle maintained speed.consumer then applied brake hard, andcruise control would not cut off. Consumer steered vehicle toward median, and hit a guardrail. Vehicle was totalled, consumer not injured.

Since oct 25 2006 i had to replace 2 sets of oxygen sensors and a lr wheel/abs sensor at my expense and allbefore 49,000 miles. I think a sensor problem exists or someone is taking advantage of me.

Thefront disc brakes were warped at 30,000 mi. The consumer took the vehicle back to dealer andwas told they would re-surface the brakes but the consumer would have to pay out of pocket. The consumer refused. The consumer took the vehicle back at 42,000 mi. The dealer machined the rotors and replaced the pads. Provide further details. The consumer stated that the problems started at 20k miles and the warranty lasted until 48k.*tc

Front brake rotors warped after 18-20,000 miles. Rotors cut once. Next time rotors replaced . 3rd time rotors cut and new pads given. 4th time rotors and pads replaced. All done at no cost to me under warranty and last time as courtesy by infiniti. Obviously a problem with the quality of the rotors. Should be recalled and warranted for 100,000 miles.

At 31,000 brakes pulsatedbut did stop car but not as quickly as before pulsating. I did not experience any close calls since i drive slowly and brought car to dealer for repair at my expense..the dealer machined front rotors and replaced pads due to rotors being warped.

Takata recall for front suspension transverse link. I think this vehicle belongs in the list and of the i30t 2001 infiniti and so does the mechanic that inspected the vehicle

There is vibration and a clunking noise when turning.it is hard to steer straight on road.the rear suspension including it's parts have failed making it impossible to properly align the vehicle.this has caused the front suspension to degenerate considerably causing persistant vibration and a clunking noise.this also creates a problem with the steering.it cannot be properly centered.the right rear severly under steers.there is a defective transverse link, springs and struts and a defective rack and pinion.*jg

The contact owns a 2001 infiniti i30.the contact heard a popping noise coming from the vehicle while in motion.also, the steering wheel was resistant to engagement. When turning right, the steering wheel would turn left and when attempting to turn left, thesteering wheel would turn to the right. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer.the contact inspected the vehicle and concluded that the transverse link failed.the manufacturer was made aware of the failure.no repairs were performed.the current mileage was 161,382 and the failure mileage was unknown.

These tires hit hard on bumps. Also when breaking tires do not stop correctly the track light comes on in the car. Every week i have to put air in them also i notice when going at a speed over 55 you can feel vibrations on steering wheel.i am tired of worrying everyday to put air in the tires so i don't get stucknow i have to go and buy new tires i just think that cooper tires should reimburse people for the cost.

Takers recall wheel jerks to either right or left and causes care to jerk to either side i was going 55 to 60 miles per hour and it almost threw me completely off the road and another time it jerked me towards a car coming head on at me.

This well maintained 2001 infinitii30 with 74,000 miles has been driven for approx. 11.5 years by the original owner and spouse in the cincinnati area.the car has been garaged 99% of all evenings during that time and has never been in an accident.approximately 2008 the lower radiator support (front cross frame tie bar) started to rust near the center of this boxed frame member.portions of the top and front side of this frame member rusted through completely some time in 2012.the hood latch mechanism and horn are fastened to a vertical steel support that is bolted to the front of this frame member, just left of the rust perforation.we intend to drive this car for many more years as we have in the past with several other cars if this does not become a safety problem, if it hasn't already.my guess is we will need to have the front frame tie bar repaired if possible to avoid future hazardous conditions (ie. Hood popping open while driving and/or unstable front end control).this rust perforation more than likely lessens the structural integrity of the car in a front end collision.i have never in my 35+ years of car ownership encounter such a manufacturing defect.this appears to be a widely known safety problem on various nissan autos.even if nissan is not required to recall these autos for inspection and repair, they should at least notify owners of the potential safety issues and possible mechanical fixes that should be considered by the owner.thanks in advance for your assistance with this matter.

Radiator core support is rusting at an unusually rapid rate.this is also the front mount for the engine.when this finally breaks it is likely the engine and cooling system will suffer.there is no rust anywhere else on the vehicle.note: this car is structurally and mechanically identical to the nissan maxima of the same year, and many of said car are suffering the same issues.

I was driving along the middle lane in heavy traffic. At the intersection with traffic lights, the lane was stuck in front of me and there was no space to go. In order not to block the intersection, i had to slow down and stop at the traffic lights. While i was waiting at the lights, after 10 seconds the other car came closer without slowing down and hit my car from the behind. I was rear-ended on that incident.

The cross member support under the radiator is rusting out on my 2001 i 30. The car is located in the northeast. Infinity is using low grade metal because this should not happen.

Lower radiator center support and tie bar are very badly corroded.as per ramsey infinity dealer in ramsey,nj.vehicle is very unsafe to drive.recommend replacement asap.infinity customer care rep told me that vehicle is out of warranty and they will not pay for replacement.this is a safety issue.corroded part is part of body structure.infinity must advice all owner to inspect thispart.they should recall vehicles for inspection and corrective action..problem was discover during routine oil change service.

It has rusted almost through and if it rusts through, i was told there would be a large amount of stress on a secondary support for the engine, eventually leading to the engine falling out of place. 2001 infinti 115000 miles lower center of radiator support where motor mount is located became rotted out with rust. I noticed it a couple of years ago and wire brushed the rust away and painted it with rust stopping paint but it has only continued to rust and rot. When i search the internet i viewed many pictures from others with the same problem

2001 infiniti i30tmy mechanic had the infiniti on a lift to investigate a brake problem. While there he noticed that a section of the frame just below the radiator that supports it and the engine cradle was extremely corroded.what alarmed him is that one, he's seen this with greater frequency on the few infiniti i30s he's worked on as well as its sister vehicle of that generation, the nissan maxima.two, the corrosion is significant enough to be concerned that the engine cradle could eventually break through and either drop out of the car altogether or at the very least drop low enough such that if while traveling the car passed over something raised and fixed on the road, it would catch the object somersaulting the car and occupants.he feels that this is definitely a deficiency in design and a definite safety concern.vins from the other cars he's seen this on to follow.

When i took my car in for service my mechanic noticed excessive rusting on the frame below the radiator.it is the only place on the entire car underbody with rust.the metal bar is almost completely rotted through, and my mechanic said the car is unsafe to drive - if i hit a pothole or a bump the bar will crack and the engine/radiator will lose support.my car only has 114,000 miles. It's 12 years old. Only one spot on the car has the excessive rust that is eaten through. This sounds like nissan did not rustproof one section properly, and should be investigated.

Rear suspension failed. *yd

Research of nhtsa records show 3 other complaints similar to mine.i first reported this issue to nissan on feb-12-08.the rear suspension bottoms out.diagnosis by my mechanic, later confirmed by the infiniti dealer, was the failure of the passenger side moog rear suspension mount. My message to nissan at the time read as follows: "i am unpleasantly surprised that a bushing in the rear suspension of my i30 needs replacement, and that the complete rear end must be replaced. It is going to cost me $800 to replace a $40 bushing that should have never failed in a car driven over excellent roads for only 87,000 miles."nissan/infiniti did not agree that it was unreasonable to charge close to $1,000 forthe replacement of a $40 bushing and refused to offer any accommodation.the car now has 107,000 and the problem persists.

Rear suspension seems to bottom out at frw speeds and there seems to be a unusal amount of interior road noise. (dot number: 0tiresize: 0)

Rear suspension bangs and bottoms out whenever the vehicle hits a hole or bump in the roadway. It also bottoms outwith any amount of weight in the rear seat. Infinity installed the i30t model springs and struts when i complainedbut the problem still exists as before.it feels like you are driving on wooden wheels when you go over a bump or hit a hole. Infiniti admitted the changed the rear suspension on this 2001 model year. Its the worst riding car i have ever owned..i am exercising my rights under the state lemon law since infinity has said that the vehick is fin.haha.

Cruise control is difficult to release whenbrake pedal is being depressed. Also when two or more passengers are riding inrear of the vehiclerear suspension bottoms out. Dealer has yet to be contacted. Please provide further details.

It didn't do anything.was rear ended and so it didn't deploy at time of accident. It was in motion.

While in a parking lot, slowing down, vehicle suddenly accelerated.motor could be heard revving up before it took off. Could not control vehicle. Had hit another vehicle in parking lot.had taken vehicle to body shop before going to dealership.

When i am in stop-and-go traffic after 30-45minutes of time the engine idles very fast.i have to keep my foot on the brake very hard to keep vehicle stopped.when i take my foot off the brake the engine rpm reads 1100 (if the problem is not occurring it is usually 750 rpm in idle or when stopped) without putting my foot on the accelerator the cars drives at 30 mph (almost as if it in cruise control mode even though the cruise control is not engaged)when this is occurring and i come to a stop and put the car into neutral or park the engine races to 3000 rpm and seems stuck at that level.irecently serviced the vehicle including throttle box cleaning but the problem persists on an intermittent basis.the dealer tells me that the "computer" does not show a trouble code.they recommend that i bring it in when it is occurring.the problem is not completely predictable and when it does occur it is usually in the 5:00-7:00 pm drive time, the dealer is closed.i have asked then to also look at the throttle sensor which they say they will.i feel that the situation could be very dangerous as there is a sense that i am not in control of the vehicle's speed when this occurs.thank you. *nlm

Consumer states with the cruise control set, the vehicle surges and the speedometer and tachometer performs erraticly regardless of speed.dealer could not duplicate the problem.

I was driving on the highway in my 2001 infiniti i30.car has never been hit or otherwise damaged.it's a fully stock vehicle.as i was driving down the highway the accelerator pedal depressed all by itself half way and the rpms and speed rose.i tried to brake but the acceleration overcame the braking and would not slow the vehicle.i put the vehicle into neutral and the rpms were at max.i was on the highway with no shoulder so i had to put the vehicle back into gear to get to the next exit.once i put it into gear the vehicle sped up uncontrollably again.so i had no choice but to turn the vehicle off and i lost power steering and braking ability.luckily i was able to coast to a stop.i opened the hood and noticed the cruise control cable on the throttle was keeping the throttle floored.it would not let up.i unhooked the cruise control from the throttle and the vehicle was drivable again.there is a serious defect with the cruise control system in this vehicle.it is very dangerous.this is all original.no alterations/modifications.it occurred without warning and had i not been on the highway at 10pm but rather on the streets of manhattan, someone would have been seriously injured or killed.if this had happened 10 mins before it did someone would have been killed.i am irate but relieved at the same time.

As i was merging into highway traffic the accelarator pedal locked up and the car started to speed up.checked the cruise control and it was off.turned the cruise control on/off hoping it would disconnect the accelarator.nothing happenned.the break would not work either.then i put the car in neutral the tires seem to lock up and the car came to a stop.

Consumer states when push the brake the car surge forward causing a accident. Please provide any information.ts

2001 infiniti i30.this problem exists on all 2k and up models, including i35.environmental control fan (i.e. Fan that blows heated and ac cooled air into the cabin) makes a annoying buzzing noise when the fan is on low.this is a know problem and the dealer will fix it under warranty.
