The passenger front tire blew, the car then locked up, the steering wheel locked up, the car spedout of control (police estimated up to 70 miles per hour), the car ran into a brick building. The air bags did not deploy! i woke up surrounded by a crowd of people. Although, i pressed the brakes to the floor, and there were black marks on the parking lot leading up to the car inside the brick building, the car continued to accelerate, out of control.

While driving at 10 mph vehicle was hit head on by another vehicleat 45 mph. Upon impact, neither driver's sidenorpassenger's side air bags deployed. Driver sustained injuries.

After backing out of a parking space, the vehicle auto-accelerated when the transmission selector was placed into the 'drive' position.to avoid a head on collision (the vehicle accelerated to a high rate of speed) the steering wheel was turned toward the left.the result was the striking of the bumper area of three parked vehicles, one of which suffered some rear fender damage. Damage to my vehicle was severe; however, the air bag failed to activate.this was not the first incident of 'auto-acceleration'.it occured when the vehicle was new.the vehicle was taken to and remained at the dealership for approximately one-week, but no fault was found.more recently, the vehicle continued to increse in speed although no force was applied to the accelerator. In these cases, there was sufficient time so no damage was done.

While driving at 30 mph, consumer t-boned and hit another vehicle head-on, but none of the the air bags deployed. Contacted dealer.there were 2 injuries.*jlg

Vehicle: 2000 infiniti i30thas a recurring engine code p0420 since 74,000 miles. Found out recently there is a service bulletin for this problem on the internet. Reference #itb00-054a. I never received any notice from infiniti corp. About this problem since the service bulletin that occurred on june 7, 2004. It is wrong for infiniti not to notify their customers about this problem. There is no drivability problem, but i will not pass california smog test if the engine come on during this time. Infiniti corporation should fix this problem without charging any labor or parts. Parts are @ least $800.00 without labor!!!

The consumer stated that the instrument panel on the vehicle is absolutely impossible to read in bright sunlight and becomes a black hole when trying to look at it with sunglasses on. The parts department manager determined that a clear dashboard cover could be installed at the consumer's expense.

The batterylight came on while the consumer was on the way home traveling 45 mph.before the consumer could get off the highwaythe vehicle shut down. While waiting for the tow truck consumer was able to restart the vehicle.the consumer was notified by the dealer that the alternator was defective.while driving with headlings and air conditioning on, the battery and brake warning lights came on. After coming to a stop, all of the warning lights onthe instrument panel flashed on then the vehicle completely shut down.dealer found defective alternator.

Driving home vehicle quit in traffic. After sitting for approximately an hour, vehicle started and we made it home. After having vehicle checked it was determined that the alternator needed to be replaced/rebuilt. Diagnosis done by a local mechanic. It was rebuilt. Vehicle ran well until the 28 april 2005 when the same thing occurred; this time it would not run after a boost. It was towed to the dealer, where a 'remanufactured' alternator was installed, at a cost of $850.00. The belts and a battery cable was also replaced at this visit.my concern stems from seeing there was a recall of 97/98 infinity i-30's, and so leads me to surmise that a problem may still exist with the alternators on other years of this vehicle. The dealer kept the old part.

So they will check on a dvm or scope at the leads of both sensors mentioned to see if everything is on the up and up from the computer. If so, replacing the sensors would be the likely next step. I was not properly informed of the pre existing conditionwith the 2000-01 i30s i was not allowed to have any input in thisrecall and orsubsequent slow deterioration within these vital controlling electrical parts. 2000 infiniti i30 service engine soon came on. Dealer diagnosed and concluded that the ignition coils went bad and need to replace all 6 of them. The car had only 31753 miles on it. Considering the low mileage, it is too early for the coils to go bad. Dealer said it is not covered under warranty (federal emissions warranty was still valid) and had to pay 1000 dollars for the job.

Consumer infiniti check engine light illuminated mechanic determined there was excessive high voltage.the coils were defectivewhich were affecting the ignition- signal which was causing the high voltage.

- the contact owns a 2000 infiniti i30. The service engine light remained illuminated. The dealership informed the contact a sensor or a coil needed to be replaced. The dealership made the repairs. There was another occurrence approximately 3 years later. The dealership replaced the coil pack. Three months later the vehicle began to rough idle. The dealership informed the contact this was a normal occurrence, and theywere unable to improve idling. The current mileage was 43,000. The consumer states "ses" tsb or recall information was hidden from consumer and denied of such. The consumer provided various invoices of diagnostics and repairs. The front brakes were worn, the vehicle pulled to the left, the winshield wiper inserts were replaced, the drive belts were worn and cracked , the transmission shifter felt stiff, the 02 oxygen sensor was replaced the ignition coil was replaced update 4/25/07

The contact owns a 2000 infiniti i30.the contact stated that the vehicle would loose power, causing the vehicle to decelerate abnormally while driving 60 mph and above.in addition, while stopped at a traffic stop light, the vehicle stalled.a local mechanic diagnosed that the air flow sensor was defective, causing the check engine light to illuminate.the vehicle was repaired numerous times but the failure persisted.neither the dealer nor the manufacturer was notified of the failure.the failure mileage was 180,000 and the current mileage was 181,000.

I have a well maintained 2000 infiniti i30 with 168,000 miles . The car has never been in an accident. Approximately 2009 the lower radiator support (front cross frame tie bar) started to rust near the center of this boxed frame member. Portions of the top and front side of this frame member rusted through completely some time in 2011. The hood latch mechanism and horn are fastened to a vertical steel support that is bolted to the front of this frame member, just left of the rust perforation. I intend to drive this car for many more years as we have in the past with several other cars if this does not become a safety problem, .i will need to have the front frame tie bar repaired if possible to avoid future hazardous conditions (ie. Hood popping open while driving and/or unstable front end control). This rust perforation more than likely lessens the structural integrity of the car in a front end collision.this appears to be a widely known safety problem on various nissan autos. Even if nissan is not required to recall these autos for inspection and repair, they should at least notify owners of the potential safety issues and possible mechanical fixes that should be considered by the owner.

The car just start smoking under the hood. My car caught fire, and nobody knows what is going on.

2000 infinity i30t : from forums on internet, it seems that there is a common problem with the exhaust system on this model.there is a code p0420 that indicates a problem with the bank 1 catalytic converter.infinity states that because the catalytic converter is enclosed in a "front tube assembly", it is not covered under the 80,000 mile warranty.i have replaced the rear cat, o2 sensors, mass air sensor and engine coils.the p0420 code was also worked on before we owned the car at 29,000 miles.

Headlamps function, however, they are aimed far to low.the maximum distance for forward viewing is less than 85 feet.at highway speeds it is impossible to have enough forward visibility to react to obstructions in the driving path such as pedestrians, road debris, animals, pavement conditions, etc.

Headlights turn offwhen completing a turn using turn indicator.

Dashboard lights have gone out completely.

Vehicle experienced rough and bumpy ride after the first 1000 miles.problem with transmission not changing gears porperly, and would jerkwhen shifting. Also, extended stopping distance, and brake pedal would go too far to the floor before vehicle would come to a complete stop. Vehicle has been in/out of dealer shop on 11 occasions, and problemstill reoccurring.

Vehicle rotors have warped four times needing resurfacing each time. This problem happens every fifteen thousand miles. This is not normal. The first time they warped was at 15,281 miles, then at 32,555,49,767 now the problem has surfaced again at 61,434 miles. Does the resurfacing of the rotors compromise the strength of the rotors? how many times can this be done?

Drive to gas station a mile away was a dangerous experience, the issue i thought was a tire blown out has been inspected by local police officer upon occurrence and determined it is suspension defect. Right rear axle is where the loud grinding started

Although, i pressed the brakes to the floor, and there were black marks on the parking lot leading up to the car inside the brick building, the car continued to accelerate, out of control.

I took my car to the mechanic for a loud noise coming from the hood. The mechanic later found out that the noise was coming from belts because the support bar that hold the engine was sagging. This is called the cross member. I learned that the cross member had rusted prematurely. I have also learned that this is a common issue with every i30 model. Infiniti needs to have these support bars replaced before it causes an accident. Ps. Cross members are supposed to last the lifetime of a car being that this is what holds the engine in place, not rust prematurely.

2000 infiniti i30 with approx. 100k miles.the vehicle is used as a spare and is garage kept.went to get an oil/filter change and found the frame under the radiator is completely rusted and is actually sagging.it looks like this part of the frame supports the engine mount that's located near the radiator also.needless to say, this is very unsafe.the rest of the vehicle is in very good condition considering the age of the vehicle.i got an estimate of approx. $1,000 to replace the rusted part of the frame.searching online, it appears the vehicles built on this chassis have similar rusting frame issues.

While working under my car, i noticed that the support structure under the radiator is rusting badly and can be moved by hand.this is not safe and appears to be a potentially dangerous situation.i came across similar complaints aboutthe same model of nissan infiniti.i feel that since this is definitely a safety issue, the company should warn owners and recall the vehicles for repair at no cost to the owners.this is premature rusting and appears to be vital to the engine stability as well.the vehicle was not in motion but i think that is what i hear rattling when encountering bumps.

The contact owns a 2000 infiniti i30. The contact stated that the cross member that supported the frame was rusting and could possibly drop the engine. The vehicle had not been inspected by the dealer or repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 170,000. The vin was unavailable.

Car backfired when going around a curb and caused me to go off the road into a ditch.

Consumer had to have 2000 infiniti i30 rotors resurfaced. *mr on several occasions, the rotors were resurfaced.all four rotors were replaced at 39,868.at 62k miles the vehicle began to vibrate at 55 mph.other problems:the transmission stayed in the low gear too long, there was squeaking on the right side of the vehicle when on rough roads, vibration in the steering due to the rotors being out of round, the front window squeaks and the rear view mirror was loose. *sc

Drive to gas station a mile away was a dangerous experience, the issue i thought was a tire blown out has been inspected by local police officer upon occurrence and determined it is suspension defect. Right rear axle is where the loud grinding started

While traveling 65mph oninterstate consumer heard a noise and thelost control ofvehicle due to a tire tread separation.dealershipwas aware of problem.

Service engine soon (light) came on.dealer ran diagnostic and said "the engine computer software needs to be upgraded".this is a cost to me for $112. Why should consumer have to pay for a software upgrade.this is a manufacturer defect.the manufacturer should have to incur the cost of repair.nothing is broken and nothing needs to be fixed. The software will get rid of the engine light and will allow the car owner to see any potential problems (i.e. What if the software is not upgraded and the engine light remains on.with the engine light on the driver will not be able to discern any problems that might happen, such as a leaky gas line which would be very serious). Infiniti consumer affairs said there is no technical bulletin and no recall issued on this defect.

The service engine light has come on several times since i purchased the car.when i would go into the dealer, they would inform me that the light came on because i did not close the gas tank tight enough.after i was told this, i made sure to close the gas tank tightly.the light still continued to come on.now the car is not under warranty and the dealer told me it would cost about $1,500 to fix the check engine light problem.i think the problem was identified early on, but the dealer was not able to fix the problem.

Keyless entry malfunctions intermittently and has done so since delivery of the vehicle. When malfunctioning the keyless entry does not respond as it should to the remote unit(s) and one needs to press the remote unit several to many times before door will unlock / lock or panic alarm sound. Position or distance in relation to the vehicle does not seem to make a difference, nor does weather conditions, location where parked or if vehicle is cold or warm. All occurred outdoors. In between malfunctions, it works fine. I feel not having a reliable entry / panic alarm system is a serious safety concern. The dealer has not been able to confirm the intermittent problem.note: the failure dates and mileages are various.the number of failures are more than 50.

Consumer was unable to see instrument panel gauge indicators while traveling under bright sunlight. Dealer notified, and informed consumer that nothing else could be done. Feel free to provide further details.

While depressingbrake pedalengine idled, causing vehicle to surge. Dealer has been contacted. Please provide further information.

1) driving at about 10 mph car would not stop.after swerving around the car in front of me, i was able to stop the car.afterwards, car stopped ok.2) on same day, when parking, car in reverse, and my foot on brake, car tried to accelerate for a few seconds.afterwards operated ok.

Unintended acceleration 5 times over the past 2 years when stopping, usually when going downhill.has become more frequent.for the first three incidents just stomping on the brake sufficed to get the engine to stop racing. The last two incidents, in the past 2 weeks, were (1) in a parking lot when going from drive to reverse to drive to maneuver into a parking spot and (2) at a stop light.in the parking lot, turning the engine off and back on stopped the racing.this last incident was the most serious.i turned the engine off, waited ~15 seconds, turned it back on and the engine raced again.turned it off again, waited about a minute, all was ok.the dealer cannot find any reason for these failures.

This isn't really a complaint but a notification: while driving on i-10e in baton rouge the window simply exploded inward, (with a loud boom) showering my left shoulder and lap with tiny bits of glass. The window was not struck with a rock or object and temperatures were in upper 70's. I was able to pull off onto the shoulder and looked for a bullet exit-hole thinking the loud bang was a gunshot. After calming down, i removed as much glass as possible and immediately drove to the dealership for a replacement. The loud "boom" made could easily have startled a driver, it startled me that's for sure, resulting in an accident or worse. Thankfully i-10 traffic was light at the time. Just wanted to get this on record in case there's some pattern for this occurence. By the way, the dealership was very helpful getting me fixed up. Dt
