Air bag sensor light came on. New sensor was put in under warranty. A year later the sensor light came back on. It was replace at my cost ($250) because it was out of warranty. A year later the sensor light comes back on. It was not fix, however, when the timing belt was replace in 2013 at 60,000 the sensor light went off. After recent dealer computer repairs in march of 2015 the sensor air bag light came back on april 2015. My neighbor has the identical model and has the same problem with the sensor light.there are blogs on line that discuss the failures of the air bag sensor. I don't know if the air bag works or not.

The air bag light came on when i moved the passenger seat. Mechanics can make the light go out by resetting the codes...however the light comes back on after a while and always when the passenger seat is moved. There are a great many similar complaints for hyundai xg350 2003, 2004 and 2005, yet the company does nothing about it. Haven't they learned from gm? also where is the nhtsa . Surely they see these complaints all over the web? i'm told that the air bags will not deploy while the light is on. This is a great concern - but i can't afford to pay $1,000 every time it needs to be reset by a hyundai dealer. Nhtsa ---please put some pressure on hyundai to issue a recall to permanently fix the problem. By the way i'm bringing my 2004 xg350 to the dealer tomorrow to replace the subframe which is rotting - this does have a recall issued.

My airbag warning light comes on and will not go out.i took my car to capitol heights hyundai dealer in maryland and was told that my passenger airbag did not have suspension.the cost to repair this will be $3400.00.i believe that this should be a recall on the airbag on the passenger side.was also told that there is a part to the airbag that is a recall but of course my code did not fall within this repair.there must be a better way to handle this.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai xg350. The contact stated that the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who reset the code several times and replaced the top portion of the driver side seat. In addition, an air bag wire failed. The vehicle was taken to a second dealer who reset the code, but the failure recurred and the air bag warning light remained illuminated. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.

Air bag light came on upon starting up one morning and remained on ever since. I have checked all connections and they are intact.from many other complaints, the airbag likely is no longer operational. I have seen hundreds of complaints from other owners having similar issues online and at websitehttp://www.consumeraffairs.com/automotive/hyundai_airbags.html dealers range of causes range from simply moving the drivers seat causing a connection failure to defective airbag module on many other vehicle types as well.this exact identical issue occurs with owners as far back as the first year of ownership through many years later. From the overwhelming examples sited online, there is an electrical and/or airbag control module issue that must be addressed.it is negligent to have so many hyundai owners have their airbags fail to deploy in accidents and for it to suddenly indicate failure. The government must take action before people get killed from a known defect of airbags.how can the nhtsa allow such a large number of known safety defects of airbag deployment failures to occur without action? this can be very dangerous and deadly to live in even low speed crashes and can be avoided with correction.

2004 hyundai xg350l has had intermittent air bag light come on dash during warranty period.all repairs under warranty as simple fix of loose connections.within six months of out of warranty period air bag light on again and taken to hyundai dealership who now states that this repair is out of warranty and will cost over one thousand dollars. In the interm the supplementary restraint system will not work.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai xg350. The contact stated that the air bag light would illuminate upon starting the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer on seven occasions, but they were unable to diagnose or repair the failure. The front seats were removed and repaired, but the failure continued. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 30,000. Updated 1/13/12*lj

Chronic problem.air bag warning light continuously illuminated after starting engine.dealer cleared fault and attempted to fix issue multiple (7+) times, but never achieved a permanent resolution.each time it was reported to have been "resolved" by manipulation of connectors, rerouting of cables and/or replacing wiring harnesses.issue has been a chronic recurring problem for the entire life of the vehicle, and never been more than temporarily suppressed.dealer diagnosis presently is that a 3rd wiring harness now needs replacement, but hyundai motors is disallowing the work as not being covered by the in-force extended bumper-to-bumper warranty.this should have been previously fixed once and for all, and not dragged out by applying ineffective band-aid fixes until such time than they disavow further responsibility for the problem that they never truly fixed to begin with.briefly researching the subject, i find it remarkable at the volume of consumers reporting the same or similar experiences.an intuitively obvious conclusion that this is an engineering design fault that hyundai is well aware of, for which they have been incompetent or unwilling to properly implement a remediation post-sale.it is particularly unconscionable that they are ignoring their moral, if not legal, responsibility to provide protection for the vehicle occupants by initially delivering, and subsequently maintaining such a vital safety system.

The airbag light illuminated in my car shortly after purchasing it used.it was still under warranty and the dealer fixed it, saying something came unplugged under the seat.the light came on approximately a year later, when the car was no longer under warranty.i had to go to the dealer to have the problem diagnosed again and this time they said there was something wrong with a sensor in the door and they would have to take apart the door to fix it.from my understanding, the airbag light being on means that the airbags will not deploy in an accident.it is not acceptable for such an important component of the car to stop working because the driver moves his seat, etc.every owner of a hyundai xg350 that i have met as the exact same problem.the light comes on and every time you take it in, it is for a different reason that is conveniently expensive to repair when your warranty is up.however if the car is under warranty, they say it is a seat issue and fix it quickly and make no concern of it.

What would cause the indicator for my airbag light came on and will not go off.what should i do?my mileage odometer has done rolled over one time, the above mileage is the current miles = 131679what do i need to do?

The redairbag light continues to stay on after many repairs by the dealer.

Nothing happened. The air bag light went on. I kept driving it to see if it would go out. Took the car to local garage and after a $350. Charge i drove it home and light was off. Next day light was back on. Took it back and was told the spring mechanism in air bag wasn't working. I took it to a hyundai garage and they quoted a price of 1600 plus labor to fix it. After looking it up on the internet it seems hyundais have had many problems with air bags. Why not any recalls? i love my car but $2000. To fix a 2004 with 78000 miles seems like a lot of money. Should i fix it?

For the last six months the "check airbag" light has been coming on.i took it to the clay hyundai dealership in norwood.they replace the airbag wiring harness ($160).a month later the "check airbag" light came bace on.the dealer then cleared the code and told me if it continues to come back on that i would need a new main wiring harness.the "check airbag" then came back on.then the dealer replaced the main wiring harness ($1,200).and now the "check airbag" has come bag on and the dealer is telling me that they may need to replace the side airbag in the driver's seat for an additional cost.first this is getting too expensive and second hyundai is neglecting the safety of their drivers because, i'm told, that the airbags will not deploy in a crash if the "check airbag" is on.

The rear defogger grid keeps breaking.when you turn on the defogger it cases interference in the radio since the grid and antenna are both embedded in the read windshield.

Have a 2004 xg350l vehicle, strange odor when heated seat buttons engaged, also, terrible radio static occurs when rear window defrost/heat button engaged.

I was driving and rusted subframe collapsed control arm & right axel broke also power steering belt broke. I was able to get over nearly having an accident.i had my car repaired in 2010 as per recall yet i tried to push for sub frame replacement over repair at that time with no luck. I believe these sub frames that were repaired should be replaced. This is an extremely dangerous situation i could have been killed!

Car was parked never had any issues went to crank it uo it just burdt into flames and burned to the ground engine was snoking and snoke coming from underneath and wss oiuring out flames burned up in like 20 minutes or so fire department had to come put it out car is nothing but scrap metal now.

I have a 2004 hyundai xg350. Many times when i leave the car overnight (or for a few hours) and then start it back again, the gear does not engage when i put it in drive. When i press the accelerator, after a few seconds, the gear engages suddenly and the car lurches forward. The problem persists for the first few minutes while i am driving. So when i am making a turn, again the car has to start from zero, so it wouldn't move for the first few seconds and just jump forward. This can be very risky at times, especially on turns. Once the engine is heated up, there is no problem. I have also found other people facing same issue but not fix for this problem yet. I wish a class action lawsuit could be filed against hyundai.

I bought the 2004 hyundai xg350 in february 05. In summer of 06 i began having problems with the digital reading of miles togo before "e". It does not reset when gas has been put in, it takes a few turns of the key to register. I was driving my son to school one morning and as i tried to accelerate to go up a hill the car began to studder, check engine light appeared,it felt like something wasnt catching in order for the vehicle to move. When i stopped a the red light and slowly took my foot off the brake it would lunge forward. I ended up having to have it towed to the dealer. Of course the problem didnt happen when they test drove. They changed the sensor and it hasnt been symptom free. Still slow to reset gas mileage, still studders, check engine light. When it starts to studder i am able to drive under 60mph, shifting drive 1-2-3 like a stick shift. Once i try to go over 60 miles per hour (highway) can not do it without continuous studder.

I have brought in my vehicle for alignment three times to two different places, and no matter what is done to repair the problem, the vehicle always pulls hard to the right. Now the mechanic is straight up telling me i should have been included in recall nhtsa campaign number: 09v124000 but that because i am not in a salt belt state i do not qualify for the recall. However, the nature of this problem is making the car difficult and unsafe to drive. If you are trying to go straight forward, you must keep several pounds of pressure on the wheel to prevent the car going to the right. This has been a problem since we bought the car, and we have spent several thousands of dollars over the years trying to resolve the issue. Now i see there is a known problem with this car, i believe the manufacturer should be responsible. They have sprayed salt on the bridges of houston everytime it freezes. Our car most certainly has been exposed to salt.

The electric seat heaters do not work.while the car was under warrenty the dealership relpaced a fuse as a fix. One week later they had to replace the heating pad in the seat.(removing the seat).later, while the car wsa still under warrenty, they replaced a fuse. After the car passed 60,000 miles, (off warrenty), both seats heaters did not work. I was told the fix would cost me $600.00....

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai xg350. While driving approximately 20 mph, the vehicle failed to stop when the brake pedal was depressed to the floorboard. The contact had to apply the emergency brake to stop the vehicle. The vehicle was driven to the contact's residence where brake fluid was found leaking underneath the middle of the vehicle. The vehicle was later taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the metal brake line was completely corroded. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer. The manufacturer was not contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 71,000.

Complaints from wife that car makes annoying squeezing or squealing sounds, car was just nys inspected with no problems. Finally took apart from brakes. Found lh inside brake pad had rusted and come free from backing plate.

Dt*:the contact stated the brake and accelerator pedal were close enough to each other to depress simultaneously.the dealership stated there was no problem with the vehicle; therefore, no repairs were made.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai xg350.the contact stated that while driving 45 mph the power steering failed. The vehicle was towed to a dealer, and a technician concluded that the bolts attaching the steering assembly separated from the cross member. The vehicle was repaired. Also he stated his vin number was excluded from recall # 09v124000 (suspension). However he is experiencing similar problems, that if not resolved poses a potential safety hazard. The failure mileage was 95,000. The current mileage was 107,000.

I was driving from virginia to new york on route 17 to route 81. I exited to get to a gas station. While turning left from a four-lane road into the gas station, my vehicle made a crashing sound and stopped in the middle of on-coming traffic. It felt like we hit something big. I could not move the car. We had it towed to a garage, where we learned the cv axle had snapped. They also had to replace rs spindle and rs ball joint because they had rusted out. There was cosmetic damage done to body when the axle broke and the car went down hard.

We own an xg350 hyundai.car was brought in to dealer under manufacturer's recall for corrosion of subframe approximately three years ago.dealer performed manufacturer-suggested repairs: drilled holes in subframe and treated with anti-corrosive.three years later, subframe completely rotted out and car is a danger to drive.problem was found when we noticed wheel misalignment (looked like right front wheel was skewed) and that car could not go over even small bumps without sliding across the road. The gentleman who inspected the car for what we thought was going to be an alignment, said that the car was extremely dangerous and in his opinion, was "totaled".we had to have the car towed to the dealership as it is too dangerous to drive the 2 miles.when we called the hyundai dealer, he agreed to replace the subframe at no cost, admitting that this was a hyundai problem.i believe that all those people who had the original "fix" are under a false impression that there is no further reason for concern.according to the dealer, the rust is not visible from the outside, which explains why no one saw it 4 months ago when we had snow tires put on.it just suddenly "bursts" from the inside out.he admitted it was dangerous.we are diligent about cleaning the undercarriage of the car every month as we are in a high salt area (massachusetts). We baby the automobile and keep it perfectly.i am angry because my son drives this car and last weekend he was going to take it on the highway for a trip with his friends.if the rust hadn't "burst" through when it did, we would have been unaware of the danger and let him and his friends take the car. This is a death waiting to happen.

The lower control arm completely separated from the frame of the car while i was driving down the road. No property damage or other vehicle involved, but the car is un-drivable. I have since researched that hyundai has had some previous issues with frames rusting out and failures similar to what i experienced.thank god i was not traveling at a high rate of speed. While at slower speed trying to slow down by applying brakes ,car accelerated on its own..seems like brake had no effect to slow down the car..as i was about to hit car in front of mine , i shifted auto transmission stick of my car in parking mode while feet on brake..i was scared hell..never had happened like this ever driving.

I own a 2004 hyundai xg350l that is having accelerator issues. On several occasions, while stopped / idling, or slowing down, the vehicle will suddenly accelerate. This is while the brake is being applied. I can be setting at a stop light or stop sign with foot on the brake, not the accelerator, ( i do not drive with both feet like some people incorrectly do : ) and suddenly the car will rev up and try and accelerate forward. In other cases, i can be slowing down with brake applied, and again, the vehicle will accelerate forward. I have to really "mash" the brake to prevent the car from accelerating forward. Once i bring the car to a stop, and the car is still trying to accelerate, i will have to put the shifter into neutral, and turn the car off. I can let the car sit for several minutes, restart it, and it will usually be back to normal. Luckily, i have not had any accidents as a result of this issue, as some of the other people who have posted complaints have......yet.on several other occasions, it has been just the opposite..........i will be driving down the road at any given speed, and suddenly the car will just stop accelerating & go to an idle. You can press the gas petal to the floor, and the accelerator will not respond. The car will remain running, but will only idle. I once had to drive approx. 8 miles, in the emergency lane, at an idle speed of about 5-10 mph to reach my destination : (these where once sporadic occurrences, but now happens on a daily bases.i just recently replaced the throttle position sensor, and this did not fix the problem. I have learned that it could be caused by the "accelerator petal position sensor"; hyundai pn:35357-3b011. There is obviously a serious issue w/ accelerator problems w/ the xg350, sonata & santa fe, that hyundai needs to address. I have read of cases w/ hyundai acceleration problems that have caused deaths.

We have a 2004 hyundai xg 350, on at least a half a dozen occasions, while coming to a stop, the car would suddenly accelerate and would not stop while pressing on the brake, luckily we were able to avoid any accidents. We took it to our local hyundai dealer on 10/20/10, they told us it was the throttle position sensor, they replaced it, said it was fixed. Yesterday, 11/28/10, it did the exact same thing again, only this time we weren't as lucky. My husband tried to stop as he pulled into our driveway, the car suddenly accelerated, and he ran into the front of our house. The front bumper of the car has minimal damage, our house has a huge dent in the front of it. Needless to say, it could have been much worse, he wasn't injured, but he or someone else could have been. The car is currently at our local dealership again, they called today and said they couldn't find a problem with it and hyundai says they have no record of this problem on this model of car, so imagine my surprise to find several complaints on the nhtsa website. Someone is covering up this problem somewhere, i hope it doesn't take someone getting seriously injured or killed for something to be done about it.

Hyundai xg350 year 2004 model had unintended acceleration problem.the car jumped the curb when pulling into a parking spot.my foot was on the brake as evidence by my daughter.i tried to break numerous times, and finally the car got caught up on a bush.it was as if the gas pedal was stuck.the car just would not stop, and it was slightly damaged.hyundai replaced the car, but rewrote the loan with the 10 k original down payment getting lost in the paperwork.reporting this because i did not know of this forum back then.contacted an attorney, but they said there was nothing that could be done with the matter.

Dt: the contactwas traveling on a very busy street at a lowspeed. He was directly behind a delivery truck. He was constantly braking and then moving slowly, the contact's foot was never on the accelerator pedal. The engine suddenly accelerated without warning and the contact hit the back of the truck at about 3mph. The brakes were applied, but the vehicle failed to stop before hitting the truck. The front of the vehicle sustained heavy cosmetic damage and the hood was damaged as well. No police report was taken at the scene. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was seen by the service dealer for diagnostic testing, and the results were negative. Therefore, no repairs were made. The primary concern of the contact was that he saw a similar complaint filed by another vehicle owner online.

Dt*:the contact stated the brake and accelerator pedal were close enough to each other to depress simultaneously.the dealership stated there was no problem with the vehicle; therefore, no repairs were made.

The rear defogger grid keeps breaking.when you turn on the defogger it cases interference in the radio since the grid and antenna are both embedded in the read windshield.

I can send pictures if necessary.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai xg350. While driving unknown speeds and making turns, the vehicle slid and the contact heard an abnormal clicking noise. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer (hudson hyundai located at 977 communipaw ave, jersey city, nj 07304 201-333-3100) who stated that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 104,000.
