Airbag wire harness is worn down due to it being located under drivers seat, causing the airbag light to come on and either intermittently stay lit or remain on continuously. Therefore, there is no way to know whether the airbags will deploy or not according to the service rep. The repair is not covered under extended warranty, even though it is a vital piece of safety equipment, and due to poor design it is regularly damaged. I had this issue addressed in 2005, it occurred occasionally after that until last year when the light came on and stayed on all the time. I have been on the internet and there are many complaints about this very same issue occurring with this vehicle dating from 2001, when there was a recall issued, all the way to 2006 when the model was replaced by a different one. According to the remarks, people have had collisions where none of the airbags deployed , or the curtain airbags didn't. There also was a recall in canada. How can a manufacturer get away with such poor quality design for such an important piece of equipment?
In 2007, with a little over 50,000 miles on my car, the airbag light came on. I went in to the dealer and they said it was a loose wire and reset it. Since that time, i've had six other incidents up through 2014 with the airbag light coming back on and every time they've reset it, it has come back on. I have even had a module replaced but it did no good. The last time i went in, they wanted to replace the pad assembly for $1,000 but wouldn't guarantee it would work. They also said it might be the harness but that part couldn't be obtained. They also said they couldn't guarantee that the airbags would work!!! i have looked at other complaints from several websites and see that there aredozens of other people with the same problem. This is a serious defect and should be recalled. I have no airbags. My car has been in a minor traffic incident where the airbag probably should have deployed when the car hit the curb but didn't. This is very dangerous.
In a straight front-end crash of 30+ mph, all airbags failed to deploy.
The contact owns a 2002 hyundai xg350.the air bag warning light illuminates on the instrument control panel; which indicates that the air bags are inoperative. A technician from the dealer advised her to bring the vehicle to the dealer for diagnostic testing. She was in the process of having the vehicle inspected. The failure mileage was 92,000.
Air bag light came onmy 2002 hyundai xg350. Contacted the dealer i bought it from, and they checked it out for me and found... "found code b1378 side airbag resistance too high, need to replace driver seat back." was told this was their 3rd from this dealer that needed replaced, and found out from others that they have had the same situation. Was told due to the defect, could potentially cause the airbags to not deploy when in an accident.the light is still on as the problem has not been fixed yet. I still have the seat, and looking at replacing it soon.
Air bag warning light stays on. At first the light turned off but after a week it turned on and has remained on. Repair shop said the air bags may deploy in an accident but not certain.
The air bag light stayed on after starting the car - all else seemed ok.i called the dealer and he said it was not important that a connector had probably just come loose and that the air bag would probably still work if needed.when i took it to the dealer he removed the driver's side seat and said he found a broken wire and repaired it - at a cost of about $56 - for a car that has a "bumper-to-bumper" warranty.it was suggested that we must have put something under the seat that caused the wire to break when the seat was moved - this seat automatically moves every time the car is started and stopped.about six months later the same thing happened again.this time it was the passenger's seat that had a broken wire under it.this seat is moved less frequently, but it is a power seat.as far as i know the only thing under that seat was a box of tissues.again i was required to pay for the repair.i believe this to be a design defect in that anything that is allowed to get under the seat will cause this wire to be severed and prevent the side air bags from deploying.i have never had a car that had any problem with items under the seat.also this design has a sort of "pan" or depression under each seat that traps any loose article left on the floor when the car is stopped and it slides under the seat.it never slides back out when accelerating.this seems to just make the problem worse.i do not believe that any normal item left on the floor of the car should cause this damage and debilitate the air bag system.
The contact owns a 2002 hyundai xg350. The contact stated when turning a corner at various speeds, the vehicle would lose traction. The vehicle was previously involved in a crash as a result of the failure. The contact had all four tires replaced in an attempt to correct the failure but to no avail. The vehicle was taken to a different dealer for a second opinion and was advised that the air bag possibly was not present in the vehicle. The failure mileage was 83,000 and the current mileage was 119,000.

Hyundai motorcorporation air bag wiring harness connector defect. Numerous hyundai motor cars, xg350, sonata, etc. Have faulty connectors which prevent the airbag system from working. More than one dealer has stated in written service reports(available for review) the problems lie in a faulty airbag wiring connector in the wiring harness. They reseat the plugs in the front seats and then they reset the 'computer' and the airbag warning light goes out, however it comes back on again after a short interval. This 'defect' applies to numerous models of hyundai cars. It is dubious the system will work properly in the event it is needed in an emergency.

The contact owns a 2002 hyundai xg350.the air bag light randomly flashed on and off on the instrument panel.the vehicle was taken to the mechanic and they stated that the air bag control module was defective.the module is enclosed in the back of the seat, which means the passenger side air bag will not deploy in the event of a crash.the manufacturer stated that there were no recalls and they would not cover the repairs.the failure mileage was 40,000 and current mileage was 41,500.

My hyundai xg 350 2002 had a little over 100,000 miles on it.on 2/12/2018, while driving on a route 17 south in mahwah, nj, i hear a high pitch cracking sound with a smoke coming out of the car and soon the car became disabled on the side of highway route 17 s leaking a engine oils all over the place. At the body shop, they found out that the the bottom part of the engine got cracked with a adult-fist size hole leaking engine oilsall over the place.the owner of the body shop mentioned that it is his first time to see the engine got cracked with such a big hole.it appears that the engine has a major defect and could have caused a major problem unless the driver quickly moved the car to the road side before it became completely disabled.i feel so lucky that it didn't happen while my wife or my daughters were driving, and it happened to me, while i was driving.only slightly over 100,000 miles and the engines got cracked, unbelievable.

I have a 2002 hyundai xg350. I bought it used in july 2003, at hub hyundai west in houston, texasi have to keep returning it to the hyundai dealer to have the fuel canister valve repaired.3 times since i've owned the vehicle.it seems when i run my car through a automated car wash 3 or 4 times the canister becomes saturated with water and shorts out.i have recently found out that other hyundai vehicles are having the same problem.i ask the service manager at hub hyundai west in houston, texas if hyundai had issued a service bulletin to fix this problem and was told no.i would think that since this canister is an environmental device that hyundai should issue a recall to fix this problem.

The torque converter & transmission fluid pump are known to be defective in this transmission, the f5a51 mitsubishi/hyundai transmission. Mine started going out recently, at 75k miles! this problem/defect is also very well known to hyundai/kia/mitsubishi and they choose to ignore the issue & instead try to blame the owners & claim that we've been neglectful or abusive to the transmission which is simply not the case. I'll say that again, hyundai & mitsubishi know of the manufacturing defects in these parts as well as defects with the crankshaft in the engine but choose to ignore it and claim that they are not responsible for these problems. There are known defects throughout the whole car, luckily mine is only having issues with those two parts in the transmission so far. Please help all of the other owners of the vehicles that have that transmission & engine with even greater problems than my own.
When the brake pedal was depressedvehicle launched forward. Dealership installed a rebuilt transmission, but the problem recurred.
Reverse in transmission causes a severe vibration.
Xg350l-vehicle will lunge forward from a total stop when accelarated or when driving at highway speed, dealer has attemted to fix problem 3 times but it continues still. Upon cold start up vehicle vibrates roughly, rough and hard shifts occur while driving and down shifting. The paint burr on the passengers door went to the metal when broken off/district service and parts man had to look at all these problems because of warranty and the fact that the door could rust. None of the problems have been taken care of .

Lost of brakes.

My 2003 hyundai power steering stops working properly anytime there is standing water on the road and i drive thru the water, be it a puddle on the road or water that is running on the road and cannot be avoided. The steering becomes very hard to control and at slow speeds can cause the motor to stall.i have had to replace the power steering pump and the problem is not occurring but there have not been any substantial rains in the area to make a determination of that corrected the problem.i have written to hyundai motors with no reply.

Deteriorated frame.
The power steering hose sprang a leak. I had the car towed to an aaa service center. The technician expressed shock when the car was put on a lift because of the amount of frame corrosion, especially in the cradle of the engine, where there was actually a hole. He said he had never seen this kind of problem in a recent vintage car (2002).i bought this car new and it has been in a garage for most of its life. It has fewer than 90,000 miles.i'm told this is a serious safety issue because the engine could fall out at any time. Others should be aware of this problem.

As my wife was pulling into a parking spot, the driver's side lower ball joint broke off and the wheel collapsed.the wheel, tire, fender, axle and c/v joints were all damaged.my wife was lucky that she wasn't driving at a high rate of speed at the time.when i had it towed to the dealership i was told that it was not covered under my extended "bumper to bumper warranty" ,because it was a wear item.the car has only 68,000 miles on it.it is a hyundai xg 350.the warranty, quality and customer service of the hyundai corporation is defective and unreliable.i will never buy or recommend another hyundai product.
47,000 miles and rear left drivers area has a thump.
Left rear drivers side "thumping" noise as car neared the 60,000. Mile mark, it seems that this is reported b y hyundai as a worn shock bushing which wear out naturally (hyundai's wording) and needs replacing, other friends having hyundais have gone well past 60k and have not had this issue, but we certainly will never purchase or recommend a hyundai to anyone, since everything seems to be the buyers issue according to hyundai.
Worsening clunking sound heard from the left rear of vehicle; dealer diagnosis is rear strut damage caused by defective rubber bushings.service mgr recommends replacement of both struts due to collateral damage to the struts.serv mgr stated that this premature problem is commonly seen in the xg and sonata models, many found within the 60k warranty period.also stated that frequency of problem should be cause for tsb consideration.
