Airbag warning light came on and is constantly illuminated.hyundai dealer cannot confirm that the airbag will deploy in an accident or collision.i talked with hyundai consumer affairs person and was told that the airbag probably will not deploy with the airbag warning light on.i was told by hyundai consumer affairs that the airbag sensor part was not covered by warranty and i will have to pay to replace or fix the problem.i feel that this is a safety issue and should be replace by hyundai dealer or hyundai usa.hyundai of america case number 3753255.
1) on march 25, 2005 i was pulling into a parking space at my doctors office and when i hit the brake the car engine revved- up and the car accelerated. I went through the parking space onto a grassy area. I do not remember how i got control of the car to stop it. My wife was leaving our development and had to cross a dual highway. When she got to the center strip she hit the brake and the car accelerated.fortunately there was no traffic in the outer lane. She immediately brought the car home and would not drive the car after that.on april 15, 2005 i was heading south on route 41. When i was about 100 feet from a truck that had stopped at a red light, i started to gradually feather the brakes to slow down. When i was approximately 10 feet from the rear of the truck and almost stopped, i applied the brake to stop but the engine revved-up and the car accelerated into the back of the truck causing a great deal of damage to the front of my car. Althoughthe impact was considerable, the air bags did not deploy and should have.i am now concerned about driving the car if a satisfactory solution to the problems can not be founded for the acceleration problem and non-deployment of the air bags.the car is at the fort myers hyundai dealer being repaired and investigated.
The contact owns a 2004 hyundai xg350. The contact stated that while driving approximately 30 mph, the vehicle erroneously accelerated to a very high rate of speed and the contact could not stop the vehicle by applying the brakes. The vehicle proceeded to travel through an intersection where a second vehicle crashed into the driver's side of the contact's vehicle. The driver and front seat passenger sustained injuries to the back. The driver of the second vehicle involved in the crash sustained minor head injuries. A police report was not filed. The contact also stated that the side and front air bags failed to deploy during the crash. The vehicle was diagnosed but the cause of the air bag and acceleration failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure but no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 53,000.
Purchased nice xg350l test drove ,purchased, upon deliverysrs light on dealer tom ahl hyundai mentioned a tsb tech svc bulletin for the "fix" found out 2 yrs later there fix was a zip tie to re-bind the connector under the drivers seat , upon the light coming back on and service dept told me $2000 for fix since connectors are now loose...why is their no investigation. Poor connector has failed and many of these are having the same poor engineering/poor design of connector that is now making good contact due to "seat being moved"
Airbag light came on in 2011 and was told entire seat had to be removed to stop light.could not afford the cost.returned to dealer again in 2014 as had read connector under seat might be disconnected which could be causing the problem and dealer found this to be true and secured the connected and the light went out; however, within few weeks, light came back on and has remained on since.i did not ask the dealer about it again, knowing i would have to pay for a major take-out of the seat to correct.overall, the light has been on for at least 5 years.i am the original owner.the light came on before mileage was 51,131 and mileage is currently 83,486.i cover the light with electrical tape as it disturbs me that i can't get it easily fixed.i doubt if the airbags work but don't know for sure and probably won't unless i have an accident or a recall is made for the dealer to fix the problem.
I have a hyundai xg350 2004 model. I have had it in for service with the air bag light 10 times.they have replaced the seat belt, seat base sensor, seat back assembly and the steering wheel clock spring.do you think it is safe to drive, will it deploy in case of a crash?
Failure of drivers air bag to deploy in front-end collision.although collision was on passenger side, it was of sufficient impact to result in the car being totaled.failure of driver's air bag deploying resulted in injury to driver.

Vehicle caught on fire inside the passenger compartment apparently due to an electrical failure of some kind related to the sunroof or the dome light switches. The fire dept. Responded and hosed down the vehicles interior to extinguish the fire. The vehicle was subsequently declared a total loss by my insurance company.

I'm a single mom and have no family here in ct. To help me or guide me inthis sort of thing. My car started making a knocking noise under the hood. Ididn't know what it was so i took it to my mechanic. It took a couple ofdays before some one there could look at it. He told me it was an engineknock and said i should take it back to the dealership to get it fixed. Bythe time i contacted key in milford ct, my car was out of warranty by eightdays. And that's all they kept telling me. Keep in mind, i brought the car tomy mechanic the day before the warranty expired. Key charged me 105.00 todetermine it was in fact an engine knock, after i told them my mechanic toldme what it was. Key had no loaner car to lend me while my car was there.later i found out there was a waiting list for loaners. No one offered toput me on the list and no one tried helping me with a rental. I paid for arental the entire week they were playing games with me wanting to charge me10,360.00 for a new engine and wanted to charge me an extra 380.00 to findout what exactly went wrong with the engine, before they decide to replaceit. No one is giving me any guarantee that the warranty will be granted. Ibought my car there 9/15/06 had my car for three yrs,it's a 2004 xg350 with46000 miles on it. It sounds to me like the engine had a defect. Everyoneelse i spoke with said the same thing. I contacted the manufacture companyand no one was trying to help me. I took my car out of key and brought itback to my mechanic to have the engine replaced. I am looking for some sortof reimbursement from key for all these games they want to put me through, trying to rip me off. My car was in fact in the shop the day before thewarranty ran out, march 14, 2009. I have all of my maintenance receipts and records. Key checked all of the cars fluids and everything was clean. I don't think engines go bad overnight. Can some one help me?
Dt*:the contact stated the vehicle intermittently lost power while driving at speeds above 40mph.the vehicle resumed power after brought to a stop.the only warning indicator is the tcs light flashing during the reduction of speed.the vehicle was taken to a service dealer two months ago and the dealer replaced the fuel pump, filter and lines.the problem became worse and the vehicle was returned to the dealer who recommended getting a wheel alignment and tire rotation.this was completed at an independent repair shop, but the problem continues.the vehicle has not been returned to the dealer for further inspection.
I have had my xg350l for a year and i love the vehicle except for the am radio. The am radio is very poor and has a tremendous amount of feedback and buzzing. It is significantly worse around businesses with electric signs and traffic lights. It never does clear on the stations, there is always a low volume buzz or whine.the dealer installed a capacitor at 2000 miles.took it back in at 4000 miles, no better and the dealer said that it just the way am radios are.well i have had a number of vehicles and the other vehicle we own does not have this problem. The vehicle now has 5700 miles and the am radio is awful.very annoying.i can't believe that there is nothing that can be done to fix it....especially when i get in other vehicles of different make and they don't have this problem. It is an infinity sound system, but apparently that doesn't effect the am radio function.
Am radio reception became very weak when my 2004 xg350l was about 16 months old.one day, there was noticeably more static on all but the 2 strongest stations, compared with all the previous days.i live in a metropolitan area, and there are plenty of stations with a strong enough signal to get clear reception on my wife's car, and my previous car, circa 1992.i am scheduling an appointment to have the dealer look at it.
Vehicle would accelerate without warning while consumerwould apply brakes to either slow down or stop vehicle. Pulled vehicle over. Had vehicle towed to dealership. Mechanic could not determine cause of acceleration. Consumer was told they over filled gas tank. Left blinker hesitates or at times does not blink at all.*ph

My emergency brake handle with part of the metal rod still intake broke off while releasing it. It was only after the fact that i recalled a few times when i had thought i had released it but the indicator light still remained on. I called my dealer they ordered a "brake pedal assembly and handle" since it is all one unit.i expressed my concern that this must be a defect to both the dealer and corporate but since i was out of the warranty period i was told there was nothing they could do. I still have only the broken handle with metal attached. I was informed the first replacement part was "broke" and awaited a second replacement. The assembly has now been replaced.

Dt: vehicle vibrated while driving at a certain speed and pulled to the right.traction control systems lights were on.brakes were so hot that they were about to melt.the pedal was real mushy and spongy, and failed at an intersection after picking vehicle up from service dealer.it sounded as if the abs or traction controlwas trying to engage, but was on dry pavement and would not stop.again, the pedal was mushy as if it is melted.there was a smell of extreme heat, and the sound of sizzling asfrying an egg. Brake rotors keep going out of parallel, (warpage) causing the steering wheel to shake upon applying the brakes. Manufacturer has been notified,on 1/20/05 and has denied repair or replacement of defective brake rotors.
Calipers on both front wheels came loose while driving. *ph(nar)

There is visible rust/corrosion damage of the front sub- frame of my vehicle. The front subframe has thinned at rusted location. The rusted sub-frame is chewed half of my sub-frame. I am worried that corrosion may progress and may detach from the sub-frame, eventually increasing safety risk. Ihave noticed steering pull.
The contact owns a 2004 hyundai xg 350. While the vehicle was being serviced, the technician noticed that the rear subframe was rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 72,000.
I have a2004 hyundai xg350l sedan.i had just come from grocery shopping. Ipressed the remote to open thetrunk.after the trunk release disengaged, i raised the trunk up to place the groceries in the trunk.as i was putting a bag of groceries in ( and without any warning whatsoever) thetrunk"holders" completely failed on both sides and the heavy trunkcame crashing down with incredible speed. The force of the trunk coming down was very strong and sudden. I am convinced that i would have encountered a high risk of injury if my response time was not as fast as it was ....allowing me to jump back from the trunk.(i am very short and the upper one third of my body was leaning into thetrunk as i put the bag of groceries in).i immediately called hyundai motor company to report what happened i was only able to get to "level one" by talking to a rather disinterested customer service person.i told her this "trunk failure" needed to be reported to the main company to see if it had occurred more than once and whether someone had been hurt by the trunk lid smashing down without any warning .i was able to make an appointment (with some difficulty) a few days later at my local hyundai dealer in holyoke, mass. After repeatedly telling them about theserious risk of injury this trunk failurecould have caused. When i did get the car in, the technician determined that both trunk "shocks" had failed. They are "on order".in sum, i definitelyfeel that there was a risk of a serious upper body injury from the trunk "collapse". My purpose in taking the time to e-mail this complaint is for hyundai motor company to take what happenedseriously, keep a record of the incident and, most importantly, determine if this"trunk shock failure" is happening on other 2004 hyundai xg350l models or others. Right wheel fell off in traffic due to rust of k-frame.vehicle has less than 70,000 miles and is less than seven year old.it is a 2004 hyundai xg350 purchased and operated solely in the state of kentucky.there is a recall notice for this model vehicle of this year for all the states surrounding kentucky, i did not get that notice.i understand that there was a settlement made for those states outside of kentucky.if the wheel had fallen off 20 seconds later i probably would have been killed.police were present but no report was made.

I was driving the car downhill, approaching a stop sign. My subframe on the passenger side of the car snapped. The front passenger subframe was rusted, and broke. This caused the wheel to come in contact with the wheel well, and made it very hard to stop. I was left in the middle of a busy intersection, with near inability to move the car after i finally came to a stop by having to use my emergency brake. Attached is a picture of the subframe the day of the incident, before it broke. I do not have one of it broken.

There is a recall for the this vehicle but hyundai does not have it for my vin.i brought the car in for a wheel alignment and the repair shop told me that the sub frame is rotted away this is the recall that they had for vehicles the same years as mine. I've been informed this is a very very dangerous unfortunatelywe cannot afford buy new car.

Unintended acceleration.we have reported this defect to hyundai dealers and corporate office to no avail.u.s. Transportation secretary ray lahood, march 2010, announced two major investigations designed to answer safety issues of unintended vehicle acceleration for all manufactures.what have you at nhtsa identified and addressed as potential vehicle-related causes of unintended acceleration?
This is an update of my previous reportedfound on your odi number 10118222. My car accelerated when i applied the brakes to my 2004 hyundai xg350. This car and many other hyundai models use a drive- by- wire system.i have found over 300 similar complaints on companies that use drive- by- wire. These cars are defective products and include 2002-2005 hyundai, kia, toyota, and mitsubishi. In my case two differenthyundai engineers could not find the problem.an independent inspector can prove i had my foot on the brake and not the gas pedal when trying to stop, but no luck. Some injuries have already been reported and perhaps there have been people killed who can not report their accident. There were 3 people killed in my area driving hyundai cars. The report in our news paper of the accident read as if the sudden acceleration problem caused the accidents. I am requesting that you open up an investigation on hyundai cars that accelerate when braking. Also if at all possiblethe investigation should include all car manufacturers that use drive- by- wire systems. These cars are safety issues andthere are enough complaints to prove it. The cars arepotential bombs and a danger to passengers in the car and other cars on the road. Some action must be taken to prevent additional injuries and possible deaths from these cars.

When slowing down and braking the car accelerated on its own.the first time i hit the car in front of me . I had to turn the key off to get it to stop. I had bumper damage. Have had the car in 5 times for this same problem. Each time the dealer said they can find nothing wrong.the last time the factory rep checked it and said he could do nothing because it would not do it then. As of 4/20/06 this car has done this 8 times.it is like driving a time bomb.
While the vehicle was idling the accelerator pedal became stuck and the vehicle suddenly accelerated.this problem occurred intermittently.the dealer inspected the vehicle on several occasions but was unable to duplicate the problem. Please provide any further information. *nlm
