The airbag light came on on dash panel hyundai advisor thought it may be a loose connection and to have it looked at on our next service visit, after hyundai diagnosed the problem it turns out that is the clock spring which has a recalldated9/11/2011 recall confirmation #11v472000, hyundai dealer told me that my vin is not involved in the recall

Esc light comes on and off. This is repetitive problem. It looks like hyundai has no idea how to fix.. If you google veracruz esc light, you will see tons of posts complaining about this..air-bag sign is on intermittently after the recall. Hyundai refuses to repair because when they take the car into the garage, the light is off(unable to read the code).

Vehicle alternator went, something in driveshaft broke, causing vehicle to go right on its own into telephone pole, sir bags didn't deploy.recalls are out on these issues but no one has covered vehicle loss and loan.

Airbag light came on. Dealership says the passenger occupancy sensor has failed and it will cost $2600 to repair. This seems very dangerous and like it should not fail under normal wear and tear. The sensor can not detect if a child or adult is in the passenger seat, making the car incredibly dangerous! this has happened to several other hyundai vehicles as well. Clearly a systematic problem!

Esc off, abs & airbag lights are on for the hyundai veracruz. As few users of complained here this seems like an issue that other people have as well. I would request nhtsa look into this and have hyundai take care of this.http://www.hyundai-forums.com/veracruz-forum/151125-esc-off-abs-awd-light.html.

The esc light goes on and off when i am driving.in addition, the safety seat belt light is on.i feel these are tied to teh recall on this made and model, however, when the dealer runs my vin, it is not on the list.i feel this is in error especially when i read the safety recall info on recall #13v113000, 09v122000, and 11v472000.i am not sure why my vehicle is not on the list when the vin is run against the database since the description and symptoms are described in these known recalls.how do i get myvin properly included in these recalls.the dealer refuses to work on it as part of the recall unless it is in the database.these are safety issues.

The air bag light was on when i bought it and now i am unable to have inspectedt till ipaythe dealer2;000 i got the car in a used carlot

The airbag light has been on for 2 weeks.i've had to take this car in several times because the abs light has gone on after every service, so i don't know if it's the sensor or the actual airbag that's the problem.it's a pain, and i don't know whether or not to be worried, with all the negative press about airbag issues these days.if i take it in i'm sure they'll charge me a lot to fix it.

My airbag and esc lights went off and i took the car to dealership. They are saying that both the control modules (abs, airbag) need to be replaced and the parts alone cost around $2600.the car is out of warranty because of 5 year period (bought in sept 2008) even though the mileage is less than 60k. There were multiple recalls on this vehicle and it seems like these modules should not be failing for 50k miles. I have heard multiple people complaining about the issue and i think hyundai should get the control modules replaced.

The airbag light just came on when i started my vehicle. I am the original owner and the car has never been any sort of accident.i had a service tech pull the codes (b1448- ocs mat defect and b1481 - high resistance too high(2nd stage) for driver side airbag and the code points to the clock spring.there is a recall on these model veracruz's but not on my vin.hyundai may need to expand their vin list.i have the car sitting now until i get this resolved by hyundai. My car is the exact same model and color as pictured here.https://www.cars.com/articles/2011/09/recall-alert-2007-08-hyundai-santa-fe-veracruz/hyundai will not fix it because there is no active recall for my vin.is there anything that i can do?hyundai case # 11682549

Air bag warning light come-on and stay on.

Airbag light on since last week.

Passenger airbag is slowly expanding causing damage to interior of vehicle. Passenger airbag is now nonfunctional and hyundai doesn't care about the safety aspect of it.i've been several dealerships and spoke with customer relations regarding problem and nobody seems to care.

Air bag light is on and stays on

Traveling at 55 mph a whirling noise started under the hood on the drivers's side. Abs,esc,, check engine ,and parking brake lightscame on at the same time, the speedometer went to o, and the car shut off.nearly rear ended twice, injured , and nearly struck down getting out of the car and off the highway. Could not get the car started. Had car towed. Colonial hyundai of downingtown, pa. Diagnosed the car with a bad abs hydraulic control assembly. Part number 58910-3j 850. The car could not be moved until the part was installed. Itcost me $2500. I requested an insurance claim form, but was told hyundai motors or colonial hyundai would not pay for it. Called hyundai in fountain valley ca. Filed a claim: number 9841469.obtained diagnostic reports and repair invoices from colonial hyundai. Car has only 30,000 miles purchased brand new.

This is a complaint about the failure of the hyundai company to respond in a timely matter to a recall issued in nov. 2020(nhtsa 20v-705/hyundai recall 197) which can affect the alternator and electrical system of the vehicle.the company has not yet issued a resolution and so the dealers will not perform the necessary repairs needed to avoid a breakdown.this is the second recall issued for the exact same problem. Hyundai stated they would issue a remedy but have failed to do so and it has been 8 months. I am asking nhtsa to require the company to provide a remedy so as to avoid a potentially dangerous system failure. I have been through an electrical system failure once already while in traffic due to this precise problem. It could have been deadly. Something needs to be done and hyundai is dragging its feet.please intervene.

I am the owner of a 2008 hyundai vera cruz.in 2014 my oil gasket leaked and i brought the car to a local garage and had it repaired. It cost $400.00.a few months later, i had a problem due to a power failure and i went to another garage nearby, and discovered my alternator failed and needed to be replaced. It cost me another $400.00.a few months later, i received notice from hyundai stating that they discovered a fault in the oil gasket which could leak into the alternator and cause it to fail.i contacted hyundai and explained what had happened.they assured me, just as it says in the recall notice, that if i had the work done already, i would be reimbursed, but they first wanted me to bring the car to a hyundai service center, which i did.they checked the repairs and decided to re-do the gasket replacement, although they had no explanation as to why.they did not re-do the alternator so i assume they deemed it okay.now, i have been going back and forth with them supplying copies of the repairs that i had done, and the repair orders, and the credit card receipts, some of which, strangely, kept getting lost even though i sent them as email attachments (after scanning them to digitize the copies). I was told some of the copies arrived, but others did not even though they all went with the same email.in any case, it has been a few months and now they finally said they would like to reimburse me for the repairs but have determined (again, with no explanation) that i should only receive $195.00.i have asked for an explanation and they simply state they want to pay me a lesser amount for the parts that were provided in the repairs and less for the labor.i must admit, i am a bit dumbfounded. I may be a disabled veteran but there is nothing wrong with my math.can you please help me?

July 2012 - gasket leaked and killed alternator and battery. Car stopped suddenly and needed to be towed to the dealership. Dealer fixed the alternator and gasket but i had to pay for battery.july 2013 - alternator died while driving and battery light came on. I had to pay for alternator change $550 as i was above 60,000 miles.

Oil is dripping from the valve cover gasket on to the alternator which will cause the car to shut down on the road. My truck is just like my sons 2010. His truck has been recalled why not mine. We have the same truck just a different year.

Alternator failure due to leak on valve cover. A known design flaw on the seal for the valve cover allows oil to leak on to alternator causing failure and rendering the engine inoperable. This could easily cause a crash and death due to engine stall.

While driving into the garage, the rear power liftgate opened unexpectedly striking the garage door frame and causing the rear liftgate glass to shatter.the transmission was in "drive" at the time this happened.

My wife started the car and the check engine light and key light came on.she shut the car off and put the key fob in the ignition and the car would not start.click, click, click is what she got.when i came home from work i started the car after jumping it off from my truck.the car ran but the check engine light was on.i started to drive it to an auto parts store to get the diagnostic code but before i could get very far the instrument panel lit up with several warning lights.turned the car around and drove home.fortunately, the car has less than 60k miles and less than 5 yrs old. (58,200 miles and 4 years 8 months old)had car towed to dealership.due to some simple research i was not a bit surprised when informed that the alternator was bad due to a headcover gasket leaking engine oil.dealer fixed all at no charge because still under warranty.was told that it will cost me around $550.00 after the warranty expires.this is the second electrical issue in 4 months.this car is currently for sale.

Vehicle lost electrical control including ability to accelerate while driving on the highway.was unable to shift vehicle out of gear.previous electrical issues caused brake failures and starting and throttle control issue.

The contact owns 2008 hyundai veracruz.the contact stated that the air conditioing unit failed. In addition, the stereo failed. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.

Started car, esc off, awd, and abs warning lights stayed on. After a few minutes driving there was a whirring noise in the engine compartment on the drivers side. Stepping on the brakes made the noise go away, noise returned when releasing the brakes. Repair shop diagnosed it to be the abs module which needed to be replaced.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. The contact stated that while driving approximately 8 mph, the battery warning light illuminated as the vehicle stalled. The contact had to maneuver to the side of the road. The vehicle started but all the warning lights on the instrument were illuminated. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 50,100. The vin was not available.

Battery warning light came on, followed by every other warning light on the dash, one by one (abs, air bag, check-engine, etc.)drove car to a safe place and turned it off--and then it would not start again.had car towed to dealer who diagnosed a failed alternator--and this is the fourth time on this car which has less that 60k miles on it.my parents also own a veracruz and are on their third alternator.this is a known problem with hyundai yet they will not engineer a good solution and fix it once and for all.this is the fourth time we have been stuck at the side of the road and had to be towed.this is not acceptable.someone needs to step in and require that hyundai recall these cars and find a solution that works for more than a few thousand miles.

I just got this car around may and it started making a terrible noise when it was in park and neutral.took it to a mechanic and he said it was in the switch.also, during this time i had noticed the esc light came on and sometimes during that time i cannot change gears. Wondered if there was any recalls with this problem or any other complaints.

Car was driving ok since we have acquired it . No problems, no issues until we had a snow storm when my wife driving home from my children's school the cruise control got stuck and would not release. She put the car in neutral and the engine rpm kept going up. She turned the car off then restarted in 5 mins it was ok with all light in cluster on. Diagnosed the car with wheel speed sensor rr. It drove for 1 hour then all light came back on. Took it to deal for the open recall i found online about my model car. Dealer changed all recall problems but light is on. Now the dealer said no communication to the car's computer can bus. Checked with my local mechanic and said it is the abs hydraulic pump and module affixed to it. It is shorted out inside and causes interference with the computer system. The cost of parts is well over 2600 plus labor.

Proximity key worked on and off for a week and then stopped working completely, key inside proximity fob only unlocks doors, no way to start vehicle without this device working. Tried to order a new proximity key fob through an auto locksmith, hyundai service would not assist locksmith on programming new proximity key and we were told only dealers can do this and that it would be approximately $65.00 to reprogram the proximity key. Once we took the vehicle to hyundai and hyundai checked the vehicle we were told the proximity key would need to be replaced, price jumped from $65.00 to $290.00 plus $65.00 reprogramming the new proximity fob, the next day we were contacted that the module that makes the proximity key fob work was bad and needed to be replaced. Price went from $355.00 to $1300.00for the new module and proximity key fob.today, after a week of the vehicle being at hyundai we were told by the hyundai service advisorthat the module for this proximity key fob is under the cup holder in the middle console and that fluid (they assumed soda) leaked through the console shorting the module causing us to replace the module and the proximity key fob..

In may 2013, brake switch failed. It was almost impossible to move car from park to reverse, or park to drive. Took veracruz to hyundai dealership, brake switch replaced. Problem solved. In september 2014, all brake lights fail. Replaced bulbs. Problem solved. In august 2015, esc light illuminates, car gets stuck in neutral. Can not turn off, switch gears. Battery is drained and car is towed to hyundai. Spent 3 days at dealership. Brake switch replaced again, all brake lights failed, replaced bulbs. Electrical system draining battery. Problem found in radio - short in wiring. Radio disassembled. Two weeks later, left brake light out again. Replaced bulb and returned to dealership. Dealership states cannot locate problem since bulb was replaced.

Recall 121 completed by southshore hyundai on 1/15/19.on nov10, 2020, i was driving all my lights went on steering wheel got stiff and just shut down.i called geico had my car towed to my mechanic.he called me to tell me that the alternator was soaked with oil.he replaced the alternator and advised me to contact hyundai because the oil was from gasket in which they replaced on 1/15/2019.i called hyundai motor finance company and advised them of the problem.at that point i requested they reimburse me for the alternator in which they denied. They made an appointment for 11/19/2020 for me to bring the car to south hyundai.i bought my car in.i didn't hear from them so i went to the dealer in which i approached the advisor isiah.he told me at that point the gasket wasn't the issue.they contacted corporate and told them that too.i received a call from corporate denying my claim from my mechanic.i then said to isiah have my car ready i am taking it out of your lot.he said wait in lobby, give me a few.he came to me within 5 min to tell me that there was recall showing for my car recall 197.he said leave the car and i will keep you posted.we texted back and for the finally after south shore hyundai having mycar in there lot for 2 mos, no loaner they decided to have my car ready on 1/13/2021.documents states tech removed and replaced valve cover gasket and alternator in good will.i started noticing oil spots on my driveway.i took my car to my mechanic today 3/19/2021 for an oil change.he stated that yes i do have a leak.he questioned what did hyundai replaced and i told him..he said absolutely not, the alternator on your car is the one iput in on 11/10/2021. No valve cover gasket was replaced all hyundai did was put silicone.i have all documents, pictures, receipts and text for my proof of this problem.i fear my safety in car.

While driving my 2008 veracruz, the abs, esc, and 4wd lights went on, a few minutes later the speedometer registered zero, then worked intermittently. According to my mechanic the source of the problem was the abs module. The original abs module became inoperable in march 2015, after approximately 41,000 miles and was replaced once the part became available from hyundai on 4/9/15. The part was purchased brand new from hyundai by my mechanic and professionally installed, drove approximately 100 miles before the. According to my mechanic, the abs module which cost approximately $2,500 and controls the brakes, stability control, speedometer, traction control, etc is only guaranteed by hyundai for 30 days. Two abs module failures within a month.

My altanator has oil dripped on it from the valve cover gasket, which is affecting the charging capabilities. The vehicle is parked in my yard

Brake light, abs and esc off light on repeatedly. Brake lights stopped working. Vehicle would not shify out of gear. Auto start stopped working. Had stop lamp switch replaced, now speedometer not registering and esc light flashing on. The brake light, abs and esc off light still remain on.

We have been waiting since november when recall number 197 came out.our vehicle has been parked since the dealer would not repair the valve cover oil leaking onto the alternator without a notice from the manufacturer.they confirm the alternator is covered with oil from the leak. The battery drains and we had to put a disconnect switch on it to keep it charged.still pay insurance for the vehicle to sit which we bought to transport our grandkids.been using our daughters car since then which is too small for all of the grandkids.january 8th was the date the company gave us and it came and went with no remedy yet.this is leaning heavily on criminal.someone let us know what we can do.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. While driving 10 mph, the battery warning light illuminated and the radio shut off. In addition, the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the alternator failed and the valve cover casket was damaged and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was 85,822.

The abs light, esc light, traction control light ,all wheel drive light came on the dash, made appt with dealer (03/25/2015) and was told that i would need left & right side rear wheel speed sensors. The vehicle is a 2008 which was purchased may 2009 and has only 26417 miles on it and was told that it was out ofwarranty. Bin on the internet and seen that this is a common problem with this car. I am hoping that you will look into this and do something about this. Thank you for any help you can give meand the rest of the owners of this vehicle.

At approximately 62000 miles, all brake lights came on then off then on then off. Finally at 65000 miles the brake lights and abs and ecs lights all came on and remained on. Took to dealer paid $136.00 diagnostic fee. Hydraulic module defective. Dealer will not warrantee yet knows of problems with similar veracruz vehicles part alone $1,500.00 nobody is helping consumer with this issue. Complained again to hyundai usa and nothing!!!i'm being told hydraulic modules are known defective part!car braking system not working correctly as a result!

The battery completely drains. Sometimes its because the lights turn on by themselves when the car is off, or the radio comes on, or the wipers turn on, or the ac turns on, or the blower in the rear turns on. These items will stay on all night while parked in the driveway and drain the battery completely. I have tried to remove the specific fuses ie. The radio, but then its the blower that stays on. I remove that fuse and its the lights that came on. This has been going on for the better part of 2 years.

My vehicle is experiencing all of the issues listed in the following campaigns, yet, the manufacturer is refusing to cover the replacement of the part.13v11300009v122000the vehicle gets stuck in drive, or park, and can't be adjusted when the brake is depressed. The esc sticks on randomly. I've replace many, many brake lights in this vehicle.

Oil leaking from gaskets on to alternator

I was stopped in a traffic problem caused by an accident in front of me. Our vehicle lost all power and we became part of the traffic problem. My wife and i had to push this 4600 pound monster off the road and called a tow truck. I am 81 and my wife is 79 years old.she injured her back during this event. This will be the third alternator installedin this vehicle.including the original, that makes four alternators in 40,000 miles.

Battery warning light on, seat belt light flashing.had to turn off all electrical components (ac, fan, radio, lights, ...) and rushed to the dealership.replaced the alternator at the dealership, where i was told there's a design flaw with oil dripping on the alternator and causing premature failure.i believe such a failure, which would've disabled the car, is definitely a safety hazard under not-so-uncommon conditions, such as at night, in a remote area or unsafe neighborhood.from online research, it will happen again with the replaced alternator since the root cause is not addressed, when in most other cars, the alternator would still be the original.

Traveling on dry pavement approx. 45 mph. Clear, sunny day @80f when had to stop suddenly. The dashboard light up showing "esc off", "abs" and "brake" lights continuously on after incident. Next morning upon start up the lights still remained along with improper speedometer function. I decided to take it to the dealership where it was diagnosed as "hydrolic module" failure (p/n 589103j950). This resulted in loss of esc function and other possible hazards. Being an integrated part this will effect more than one system of braking. This is not a cheap part and vital.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. The contact stated that the vehicle would not accelerate normally whenshe engaged the accelerator pedal. Recently, when accelerating approximately 42 mph, the vehicle hesitated and shifted into the neutral position. She took the vehicle to an authorized dealer several times where she was informed that the software was defective. The software was reprogrammed four times but the failure continued to occur and became progressively worse over time. The contact called the manufacturer who stated that they were working on the failure but offered no assistance when the complaint was filed. The current mileage is approximately 38,400. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.updated 10/28/10 the consumer stated the problem with the performance of the vehicle involved more than the automatic transmission. The problem includes the electronic software operating the vehicle. The vehicle has not stalled again, but it does continue to accelerate sporadically.the consumer stated during her last visit, the service department attempted to correct the problems. She was informed that a new transmission was installed and the software was reloaded again for the electronics controlling the vehicles performance.updated 11/01/10

Leaking fluid on my driveway. No action on recall noted on nov. 19, 2014 hyundai repair invoice. Reference manufacturer recall # 197. It has been 7 years waiting for this problem to be remedied by hyundai. This situation is ridiculous!

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. The contact stated that vehicle was taken to a dealer for repairs under nhtsa campaign number: 14v415000 (engine and engine cooling).the contact stated that the technician failed to complete the recall remedy and only repaired the valve cover gasket. As a result, the alternator was not replaced. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle stalled after the recall repair being performed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the starter failed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 115,000. The vin was not available.

Driving less than 40 mph and multiple lights came on, almost simultaneously.first esc off, abs and parking brake lights.then momentarily afterwards check engine and tpms lights came on.took it to stealership, said the brake control module was bad and needed to be replaced.car kept in excellent condition with freq oil changes and proper tire maintenance.est cost to repair $2,800.out of warranty and was told that they haven't seen anything like this in their shop.

This vehicle went out of control when trying to park. When i tried to move stick to park, the vehicle took off with 70 - 80 miles an hour. Once it took off like plane, i had no control over this vehicle. I tried to stop it but brakes did not work, steering was locked and can not turn off ignition either. Vehicle traveled about 800 - 1000 ft before it stopped. Vehicle finally came to stop by trees. Steering, brakes and gas nothing worked as expected and i had no control over this vehicle. This vehicle went through this ordeal in children play area and luckily it was early in the morning and no one was in play area. Imagine if this vehicle was on interstate, major intersection or us / state hwy. This vehicle is road hazard and may cause serious accidents and possibly loss of life. I have also contacted hyundai and they have opened up case to check but want nhtsa to investigate the issue so we have neutral outcome v/s just hyundai. I wanted to bring up this matter to your attention so proper investigation should be completed for this vehicleto avoid loss of property or lives. Please contact me for more details.

Randomly after pulling up to a stop in my garage, i cannot move my shifter from drive to park. I can only move it back and forth from neutral to drive. After turning the car on and off multiple times in neutral it allowed me to put the car into park. I could not back out of my garage, nor could i put it into park, a serious safety concern. I called hyundai corporate and they told me the recall for it has already been done, but it is doing it now every time i want to put it into park. The esc off light comes on without pushing the button and the car is stuck in drive.

September 15, 2018 we had broke down on the interstate. Lost all control of car, no steering, no acceleration,no parking gear. Mechanical said there was an oil leak above the alternator. Fried the alternator. Yesterday, wife was driving, broke down on highway. I looked at the engine block and there is oil leaking from the valve pan gasket down into the alternator again. Hyundaisays my model of 2008 veracruz wasnt affected by the standing recall that is active right now. But i think my car has been affected by this problem withfaulty valve pan gaskets. Vehicle lost power while in motion, all dummy lights came on. Engine shut off and would not allow is to get it in park. Mechanics checked the battery. Battery tested perfect. Said it had low voltage and wasnt being charged by the system

While driving my 2008 hyundai vera cruz at 65 mph on route 287 in the bedminister area, my car engine light suddenly came on & the car wouldn't accelerate forward.there was no power going from the gas pedal to the engine.this was the second occurrence.the 1st was when i was driving to work in chatham nj on june 30th, same problem, though i was not going as fast, so the situation was not as dangerous.it is very scary to have the car suddenly stop working in the middle of the road.after the gas stopped working the whole car started vibrating & i let the car roll to a stop on the side of the highway, shut everything off, including the engine.let it sit for 2 minutes, then started the car again & the engine light remained on, though i was able to drive it home.when the 1st episode occurred i took it to my mechanic & he hooked up a computer to the dashboard & reset the throttle.this 2nd incident was veryfrightening as it was just my daughter & i in the car.we had been driving on the highway for about 2 hours & this happened with no warning whatsoever.i will bring the car to hyundai, but something must be done to prevent this.i only have 33,000 miles on my car.

When i use my turn signal to signal lane changing, but do not snap it into position, my headlights will flicker on and off and will also turn off for several seconds.additionally, i noticed during the day time that my dash board lights were brightening.i've reported the dashboard lights brightening on several occasions to the dealership while my car was in for service from 2009 to the present, but they weren't able to repeat the problem.most recently, likely because i was driving at night, i noticed my headlights flickering on and off.i called the dealership to report it as it was happening and talked to the service representative and told him that my headlights just went off and then they came back on.i brought it in the following week.i found the same issue reported by many other people on a hyundai forum.several people reported that the issue was with the turn signal stalk and replacing it fixed the issue.i shared this information with the hyundai dealership.this is a very concerning problem, as i go for seconds at a time with no headlights at random times, but always after using my turn signal.

While exiting the ramp off of i-95 north in ashland, virginia at about 50 mph, suddenly a couple of dash lights lit up, there was a loud squeal, and i lost power steering. I almost lost control of the vehicle and almost ran off the ramp before bringing the vehicleto a stop. When i took the vehicle in to get it checked, it was determined that a valve cover gasket oil leak (that i had fixed months earlier, along with replacing the alternator it shorted out), had leaked onto both the alternator (shorting it out again), as well as onto the serpentine belt causing the belt to slip in wet weather (the road was wet from rain and water splashed up onto the oily belt), which caused the loss of power steering. It was a very scary, dangerous situation. I have now gone through 3 alternators and two valve cover gasket replacements on this vehicle since the fall of 2011. This model has a serious, dangerous defect and there needs to be a safety recall.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. While drivingapproximately 70 mph, the low beam headlights seized. The contact had to tap the turn signal leveler in order for the headlights to illuminate. The failure occurred every time the vehicle was driven at night. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the turn signal was stuck. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was invalid. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000. Updated 06/14/16*ljthe consumer stated the lights would go out, while driving at any speed. They would flicker or go out, when the turn signal was activated. Updated 06/20/16.

In nov 2017 my 2008 veracruze (98k miles ) started losing power, indicator lights flashing then it died in the middle of an intersection.turned out to be a very oily alternator.it was repaired. 1 yr 1 month later exact same thing happened. Again the alternator was oily and needed replaced. Now 2 weeks later i'm starting to see the warning signs ( flickering lights, dead battery in the morning 1 time, power seat memory positioning buttons not working) called nearest hyundai dealership ( over 2 hrs away) to verify that my car was included in the recall. I was told it was but it had been replaced in 2015. But that i could drive it to spokane, have it diagnosed possibly have to return ob a different day for repair and then contact hyundai to see if they would help . Its going to cost $900 to repair! plus they want me to drive or tow my car 2 hrs away for no guarentee hyundai will again fix the gasket.

The abs module is faulty because of the defective wiring harness. The harness is susceptible to live environmental elements especially during winter due to the high salt use on roads especially in the states with harsh winter. This problem creates a safety hazards and render the vehicle operation in a stall mode. Over time it could causes fire hazard, sudden acceleration cruise control lock with no release option that could results in a crash. It could cause other components failures like main pcm module and side modules of the vehicle. The harnesses on the veracruz are not sealed properly and highly defectives.

On at least a dozen occasions within the past few months alone, while driving i will suddenly hear a high-pitched "whirring" sound that sounds like it's revving up, then immediately afterwards all of my dash lights and the passenger air bag lights start to flicker and/or go off completely and then come back on again. Every single time this happens, as soon as i turn off my car (doesn't matter if i keep driving for a long while or stop driving shortly after it happens), it won't start again. It's completely dead and i have to have it jumped.my car has 94,000 miles on it, and in the past 8 years, the car has died/i've had to have it jumped over 30 times. I'm on my 5th battery! after the recall for the alternator gasket valve cap, i thought these problems would be fixed, but i've had exactly the same electrical issues/battery constantly dying since then! that recall literally did nothing.this is very unsafe, as the car can just suddenly lose power while driving, and then if you turn the car off, it won't start up again without being jumped. Hyundai needs to fix this asap. There are literally hundreds and hundreds of complaints about this, and it's just absolutely unacceptable!!i'll in the past 8 years, i have had to replace my battery 5 times in my veracruz.

This car loses power and the ability to control it via power steering, power brakes, and sometimes completely shuts down when operating under rainy conditions and wet roadways.it has happened five times.i have never been traveling at a high rate of speed, but for a split second codes appear and i have no control of the car.there is a moment of panic and then the car comes back to life and everything is operational.the dealer has not been able to diagnose.

This is mostly from memory with most recent data reported.my 2008 veracuz has had the valve cover gasket repaired or replaced a minimum of 4 times since i purchased it on 4/30/09 from o'brien hyundai.the first time was about 2 years after i bought it.dealer found leak during oil change and attempted to seal with a silicone.that was unsuccessful and valve cover gasket was replaced.a year plus lateri was driving home when i could not got faster that 35 mph.when i drove into my development, the max speed was 10 mph.i barely got into my driveway and the car stopped.it turned out that oil from a leaking valve cover gasket had shorted the alternator and the car had been running on the battery.car was towed and both the alternator and valve cover gasket were replaced under warranty. In 2014, there was a recall for the leaking valve cover gasket problem and my car was repaired again.in november of 2018, the service tech at o'brien hyundai found an oil leak during an oil change but was uncertain of the source.he put a dye in the oil and requested that i return after 2000 miles so he could inspect for the leak source.i took it back after 2 weeks and was told that the leak was from the timing chain cover gasket.however, the timing chain cover gasket, the valve cover gasket, the water pump and the alternator were all replaced under the power train warranty.in september, the "new" alternator failed and had to be replaced along with a drive belt at my expense.the fact that the valve cover gasket has been replaced multiple times in my vehicle makes me concerned that the engine design has a latent defect which can and has resulted in my vehicle losing power while in used creating a potentially deadly situation.a search on the internet shows me that my situation is not atypical and should be thoroughly investigated by your agency.

The car just failed and did not have power. Lights came on and then car stopped.it is recall 121 from hyundai but they will not fix the problem because they have no solution.i tried to fix it once before but i was told i had to pay my own bill and they might reimburse me because they have no long term fix for the issue.but my car died because of it and they say that is my problem because i have 151k miles on the car.i spoke to many people at hyundai and no one would take responsibility.that is crazy that they know it is a problem but will not own up to fixing it for me.

At random times, i cannot move my shifter from drive to park and it seems to correspond with the esc light turning on without pushing the button.i can only move the shifter from drive to neutral and have to leave the car ignition partially on and cannot lock the vehicle.obviously a safety concern!i have brought it to the local dealer only to be told there is nothing wrong with the esc control even after the recall bulletin.the dealer just did a fix relating to the oil leak issue and told him it was also doing the shift issue.picked vehicle up 9/25/14 as everything was supposed to be resolved but only to have the shifter and esc issue again on 9/27 and 9/29/14.called dealer and am bringing in vehicle again today 9/29/14.

I went to start my car and i heard a nose so then i turn the car off and so as i put it in gear to drive it went on it own the brakes was not work

Esc off, awd, and abs lights lit up on the dashboard.while driving in traffic, the vehicle suddenly died and lost electricity and had to coast the vehicle to the side of intersection, while not having power.eventually able to restart the vehicle and drive again.happened 2 more times where the vehicle died while it was being driven.while driving it to the dealer, noticed the speedometer was not working.dealer found a bunch of codes for wheel sensors and eventually determined the issue was an abs hydraulic module, which costs over $2000 just for the part itself.i researched through several hyundai forum websites and it appears this is a chronic issue with this vehicle as other owners have had the same problem.due to the cost of this part and the safety issues involved with driving the vehicle, i would suggest it should be part of a recall.veracruz owners should be notified not to drive the vehicle if the combination of these lights come on, as the vehicle may quit and lose power while it is being driven.

At about 61,253 miles, engine gaskets were found leaking and valve cover gaskets & valve cover set was replaced. Alternator tested bad and was replaced. Battery tested bad and was replaced. Oil leaked from valve cover/engine and dripped on alternator causing the alternator and battery to become defective. Car was pulled into service station as engine started puttering and power was dropping. A claim was made to hyundai (case 17561397) who denied the claim saying that it was not covered, citing campaign 121 (guest because it was similar) and saying that it covered the cylinder cover gasket did not include the valve cover gasket leaking and causing the exact subsequent damage. Attached are repair documents.

2008 hyundai veracruz limited. Just picked it up on friday. Prior to my purchase i read in an on-line hyundai forum that the proximity key fob that is used to arm/disarm the vehicle, lock/unlock all doors, and open/close the liftgate has an issue that causes the liftgate to open by itself even tough the doors are locked. I went outside today to find my liftgate open . The key fob was in my pants pocket. I would like hyundai to investigate a re-design.

Brake light, abs and esc off light on repeatedly. Brake lights stopped working. Vehicle would not shify out of gear. Auto start stopped working. Had stop lamp switch replaced, now speedometer not registering and esc light flashing on. The brake light, abs and esc off light still remain on.

My abs, esc and awd dash lights illuminated on my 2008 hyundai veracruz.ran codes to find out the rf and lr wheel sensors were giving an error, as well as the brake switch. Checked fittings and found no missed connections with the wheel sensors, and when i started the car back up, all lights on the dash turned off. When the car got up to 30mph, the esc light started flashing, the awd light illuminated, and my vehicle acted as if it was driving in heavy snow (stalling, slowing, and acceleration failing).after putting the car in park, turning it off, and starting it back up, all lights were again off.same issue repeated itself, and then the abs, esc and awd lights illuminated again, and the car drove fine. Took to the dealer to get diagnosed.fearful of sudden malfunction during expressway driving to cause a serious accident.

The break, abs, esc and chk engine light all came on and literally everything shut down. There was no steering (extremely difficult), and worst of all no breaks. I could barely bring the car to a stop with both feet and had to divert my travel into a parking lot to avoid going through a red light. The problem stems from a faulty abs module and has been reported numerous times on various web sites. The repair is very costly and the consequences are so potentially deadly i can't understand why this has not been a recall item.. Please do the driving public a huge favor and investigate this problem. It's not as though hyundai doesn't know about the problem.

The esc light is constantly illuminated when the car power is on.rear brake lights intermittently don't come on while driving.frequently unable to shift the car out of park (which we have to perform manually with a screwdriver and the override switch in the shifter console).due to previous recalls, we have discontinued using cruise control because we aren't sure whether or not it will disengage when braking.these problems began over 6 months ago.they are very much a safety issue!despite identical problems in nhtsc campaigns for this year/make/model vehicle -- a campaign has not appeared for my vehicle's vin.

60,000 miles, electronic control module failed for abs, 3 lights on, dealership and hyundai corporate won't warantee or fix. Module is a known problem and is defective and failing in a large amount of hyundai and kia vehicles, hyundai refuses to fix. All over internet about this complaint

All brakes lights came on initially. Then when driving, the car started losing power and stalled. Thankfully i was on a county road with a driveway i was able to exit on. Otherwise on a busy highway it could have been very dangerous. The part that failed was an abs modulator valve assembly. It cost $2,615.06 to fix. Also, i'm concerned it was replaced with the exact same part, which will most likely fail again! the hyundai part no. Is: 589103j950 hydraulic module.

Vehicle alternator went, something in driveshaft broke, causing vehicle to go right on its own into telephone pole, sir bags didn't deploy.recalls are out on these issues but no one has covered vehicle loss and loan.

I just got this car around may and it started making a terrible noise when it was in park and neutral.took it to a mechanic and he said it was in the switch.also, during this time i had noticed the esc light came on and sometimes during that time i cannot change gears. Wondered if there was any recalls with this problem or any other complaints.

The esc light came on and the transmission shifter is stuck in parkor can be sticky

While using cruise control could not push brakes car kept going.the car will not shift from out of park. I have to use a screwdriver to press the shift lock release in order to drive. Check engine light is on & the airbag light along with the esc. The brake light will not illuminate anymore.

Abs control module / pump failed while operating the vehicle under normal highway conditions. Abs and esc disabled and brake lights not operational. Advised by hyundai dealer to replace the abs module at a cost of $2,100 for the module (excluding labor).

Three warning lights came on in vehicle. Esc, abf, parking!brake were the lights that lit up on dashboard. Took vehicle in to local mechanic and he ran computer diagnostics on it, it came up with internal failure of the hydraulic electronic control unit.i called hyundai customer care line and was told there were currently no recalls on this problem, but they did file my complaint and said that they take notice of trends and do research when enough problems happen, he encouraged me to file a complaint here as well. He also said that should hyundai recall this problem i could be reimbursed the 2400.00 this is going to cost to get it fixed. Vehicle only has 45,000 miles on it, and is only 6 years old, too young and not enough miles for something like this happen. I did speak with a hyundai dealer service dept and they said they have not seen this in the veracruz but have seen it more in the sonata.

While driving down the highway (approx. Speeds of 65 mph), while raining, the vehicle started to stutter, speedometer jumped around, and the esc off, abs and awd warning lights flashed and then stayed on. Once the lights stayed on (no longer flashing) it seemed as though the vehicle drove "normal." after a day of driving with the lights on they would turn off and problem wouldn't come on again until their was some sort of moisture/precipitation happening; and then once dry would turn off again. Had dealer check vehicle (at the time of check no lights/symptoms occurring) and they said it required a new hecu unit and a new wheel speed sensor (approx. Cost $3,200). They could neither explain why it only happened when it was wet and did not want to troubleshoot beyond the basic code check. Hyundai was contacted and they offered no help - it was only 1,000 over warranty by the time we were able to have it looked at by dealer (which also took 2 weeks to set up appointment with hyundai tech). Dealer cleared codes and put dielectric grease on the connections. Had no problems for 7 months, and then problem reappeared. Only now the problem is a severe safety risk to myself and others around me. There is no telling (can occur at any speed and doesn't matter how long car has been on or how far driven) when the systems mentioned will fail, and when the lights start flashing i have no ability to accelerate the vehicle until all the lights turn steady and stay on. If this were to happen when pulling out/across traffic it could turn fatal. A quick check on the internet and one will find a host of complaints relating to this same problem. A recall needs to be issued before someone is injured!

Normal driving habits on the 2008 veracruz. After hearing a large clunk going speeds variable from 5-45 mph, the accelerator is unresponsive and vehicle is unsafe.restarted engine multiple times to work "normally" again. It appears that hyundai is aware of the issue and suggests replacing the throttle position sensor ($41.00) and an upgrade thevehicle. This needs to be a recall because if this happens at the wrong time, someone could die from it.

Esc light and abs light have come on intermittently since we bought the vehicle in 2010. They usually went back off after stopping the car and shutting off the engine. The other night while driving down a highway at 70mph, those 2 lights and the awd light came on and are not turning off. Looking on internet, i see these 3 lights coming on is fairly common and can be a safety hazard.wonering if/when this might be addressed asa recall.

Esc off light on, abs light on, awd symbol light on, even safety belt on when on park gear blinks. Took it to the shop three times.says they fixed the problem but weeks later same dash warning lights come on.i'm getting screwed here.this is all past the warranty.

We have a well maintained 2008 hyundai. Like some others we have reported we also have an issue where the abs, esc (traction control) and sometimes the park brake lights will illuminate.they will stay on for a while and then turn off again with no rhyme or reason.when the lights are on the traction control and abs systems are disabled, making the car unsafe to drive.our car is not old and has been well cared for... It seems ridiculous that this type of issue is occurring.

Driving slowly on city streets, i began braking at a stop sign, when 3 dash indicator sensor lights came on. The abs, esc and the 4 wheel drive sensor lights. After stopping i continued and the car started to jerk and was difficult to control. It was trying to brake while i was trying to accelerate. I immediately returned to our driveway and had to cancel our outing. Called the repair shop and they diagnosed it as a left rear wheel speed sensor problem. The cost for the repair will be $550.00.

Takata recalli purchased this car three weeks ago, even though it's an older car it only had 57,000 miles on it. Well a few days after purchase i was driving and when i arrived at my destination i could not move thegear shift lever out of drive. I called the local hyundai and they wanted me to bring in the car, but again i can't bring in a car that i can't back out of a parking space. So i ended up calling the honda dealership in which i bought the car from, and he told me to press on the safety brake and then tryto turn the car off. Eventually after waiting 20 minutes i was able to move the gear shift lever in to park. Then is happened again today on 05-12-2016, while i was driving i looked down and seen the "esc off" light on again so i came to a stop and attempted to put my car in park, and again, the lever did not move. In both situations i was just driving on a regular street and both times i came to a stop and seen the "esc off" lights on.

The vehicle will occasionally not shift into or out of park.the esc light also comes on.there is a recall for this model of car, but the dealership is saying that the vin shows that it is not subject to recall, despite the fact that the dealership diagnosed the problem as a faulty stop lamp switch.the exact problem with the vehicle is what is described in the summary section of your website.i'm not sure why my vehicle is not subject to recall.

Problem with esc and abs lights on a well maintained2008 veracruz with 64k millage. The light turn on and off often when driving.

Vehicle stopped while driving without warning.unable to start.dangerous situation, unable to control vehicle.i was about to enter the interstate and loss power.had to have the vehicle towed.had this same issue with the alternator recall.had to have the vehicle towed to a dealer.dealer said it was engine failure.no warning lights came on dash, no issues.with the previous alternator recall, oil was dripping onto the alternator and the vehicle shut down while driving.i did not feel safe driving the vehicle as i did not know when this would happen.this vehicle is not safe to drive.

Highway traveling at 65 mph when oil light glows but doesn't come on fully. As driver slows to pull to side of road, oil light comes on fully w/check engine light and power steering quitsall at once, making steering very difficult. It was a very dangerous situation because it was on a turn on i81. Luckily traffic was light and there was no accident. The car was then towed to a service station. In terms of relevant history, when trip started, no warning lights were on. But incident came a few days after the oil light had glowed (not fully lit). The oil was a tad low but not a full quart. It was topped off which turned the oil light off. The check engine light had also came on briefly at a different time from the oil light but around the same day as the oil light. It too had turned itself off after being on briefly. So the day of incident there were no warning lights on at all and there had been none on except for that brief time i described above. People have since speculated that the steering failed because the car had stalled. I did not think that the car had stalled. Rather, it just seemed as tho the power for the steering had quit. Once the car was at the shop, i was told there was a bad banging sound when the car engine was on and the mechanic speculated that a rod had broken. Until this happened, the engine appeared to run well and there was no banging sound or any other noise while the car was being driven. The service mechanic confirmed that the oil was full but mentioned it being all over. This could have resulted in a terrible accident. I was very lucky.

I went to start my car and i heard a nose so then i turn the car off and so as i put it in gear to drive it went on it own the brakes was not work

I purchased my vehicle new and have had alternator problems for the life of my car resulting in several thousands of dollars worth of repairs to replace alternator and starter several times .for the last several years i have received recall letters from hyundai addressing this exact problem.unfortunately , they have not done anything to remedy the problem.they continue to state they are working on a recall remedy.this has continued for several years.please help me fix my vehicle before something tragic occurs whilst the vehicle is on the highway with my family inside.thank you.

I am the 2nd owner of this 2008 hyundai veracruz.the esc, abs and brake warning lights have been illuminated for months.two dealers were unable to tell me the issue or to get the lights to turn off.offered many services (not the awd module).the awd light would occasionally illuminate and i would lose cruise control and speedometer.mid-march, the car became difficult to start - would turn over but wouldn't stay running once it was placed in drive and stalled a number of times in traffic (very dangerous! imagine left turns across a 2-lane highway!) i have gotten all the recall work done including the alternator and leaky valve cover gasket (not plural).this is a very dangerous problem that is common with these cars.i understand the module is around $2500 to fix and car is just past warranty when these issues start.i cannot with good conscious sell this to another human.please make them issue a recall!thank you!

Ever since we had a recall with hyundai about replacing the engine's cover, the car has been having problems since. The issue occurred where the car would not start, and would flash many symbols on the dashboard. What would happen is that i would pull the car to the side of the road, wait a couple of seconds, and the car would start again. We went to our local auto service about this issue, but told us that it shouldn't be a big issue. And when this issue occurred the second time, i took the car to hyundai services to see what the problem was. They told me that it was just a fluke and that it will not happen again. But when this issue occurred the third time, similarly to the first and second time, the car stopped running and the symbols flashed. But this time, the engine started to smoke and the car would not start no matter how long i waited. This led my family to be stuck in the highway and had to call a tow service to pick our car up. When we told hyundai, they told me that the issue is that a rod which was a part of the engine, impaled the engine motor and made a quarter sized hole, which leaked gasoline from the car. We told hyundai that we strongly believe that this issue occurred because of the recall, but they denied and said that we must pay for an engine replacement. We feel wronged by hyundai as these issues occurred after the recall, and the car only has 124,00 miles on it. My family also took extensive care of the car throughout the 10 years we have had this car. My family and i also believe that other veracruz owners might have had a similar issue as ours, so we hope you understand our situation. Thank you.

My vehicle has a oil leakage in the lh and rh valve cover gasket that the dealer is stating to replace. Currently there is a recall for the veracruz: oil may leak from the front cylinder bank cover gasket, potentially dripping onto the alternator and causing the charging system to become inoperative. The remedy will include new dealer instructions on performing the repair. Based on an inspection, vehicles identified with no oil leakage specified in the 't' joint area will have an oil protector installed with rtv sealant application. For those vehicles identified with oil leakage, the valve cover gasket and alternator will also be replaced for those vehicles identified with an oil leakage in addition to the installation of oil protector with rtv sealant application. An oil protector will be installed on all.however the dealer is stating that the recall only covers the lh cover gasket. The recall remedy does not state. Therefore the issue is not fully resolved.

Oil leaking from gaskets on to alternator

As soon as i turned vehicle on white smoke comes out of exhaust system and smells like burning oil. Drove it for a while and smoke was a bit less but still came out on everytime i made a stop along with the smell.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and the battery was replaced, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was diagnosed by another independent mechanic who stated that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 14v415000 (engine and engine cooling). Lithia reno hyundai in reno, nevada repaired the vehicle per the recall in 2014, but the failure recurred twice. Racine hyundai in racine, wisconsin was made aware of the failure and stated that, because the vehicle had been previously repaired under the recall, it could not be repaired again free of charge. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 86,000.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. The contact stated while her husband was driving 65 mph and attempting to overtake another vehicle, the vehicle failed to exceed 65 mph. The contact started smelling an electrical burning odor inside of the vehicle. The driver stated that no warning light was illuminated. The driver parked on the side of the roadway before the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was not drivable. The vehicle towed to a tow lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. A dealer was not contacted. The vin was associated with nhtsa campaign number: 20v705000 (engine and engine cooling). The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

Alternator failure due to leak on valve cover. A known design flaw on the seal for the valve cover allows oil to leak on to alternator causing failure and rendering the engine inoperable. This could easily cause a crash and death due to engine stall.

The car stopped working 2 weeks ago. The battery light came on so we took the car to our mechanic and the mechanic proceeded to change the alternator due to excessive grease on the alternator, after driving home the car wouldn't start so we had to tow to repair shop. The mechanic took about 2 days to change the alternator . When we received the car back while in idle it stopped while it was in idle about 15 miles from repair shop .we had to again tow the vehicle to the repair shop we took the car back and the mechanic replaced the alternator again and battery where the car is right now. The car again would turn over but again would stop right away. The mechanic said that the valve cover gasket was leaking and possible damaged wires in the engine/alternator. The valve cover was replaced about 3 years ago according to the hyundai recall records at boulder hyundai. Our mechanic stated and he will put that in writing that the valve job was substandard and the work 'shoddy '.upon researching the nhtsa other owners of the hyundai 2008 veracruz have had the same problem and one owner had the valve cover replaced 3 times and are still having the same problem. I have called hyundai and they are not taking responsibility and i am unable to trade in the vehicle or sale so i am out about $7000.00 per kelly blue book valuation for a working car. We attempted on saturday, june 9th to check the car to see if it would run and again after jumping the car it cuts right out. I believe if the repair on the recalled valves was done correctly the first time the car would be in working order and the alternator would not have had the excessive grease on the alternator.

Hyundai veracruz alternator-alternator-recall-when is stationary and in motion when leaking.city and highway driving.hyundai replaced the original valve cover gasket under recall on november 25, 2014.the recall was based on oil leaks and alternator failures.hyundai would not replace the alternator even though it was covered in oil at that time. A few years later, our alternator failed (april 2019). We paid a mechanic $750 to replace that alternator. The mechanic stated failure was caused by oil saturation.hyundai has issued another recall for the same issue, but no resolution has been determined. I recently had another mechanic look at the vehicle and they mentioned the valve cover gasket is leaking oil on the newer alternator and the alternator is covered in oil again. I contacted hyundai after receiving multiple recall notices starting in november 2020 and a reimbursement claim was filed.hyundai denied my claim for reimbursement because i did not provide a valid reason.hyundai is still sending me recall notices, but they claim to not have a fix for the issue.i am forced to clean the alternator off monthly to avoid failure.please contact me with possible resolutions.

Engine valve cover gasket and alternator was replaced at the end of 2014 by a recall. Engine leaks again and dripping on top of the alternator. Hyundai refused to fix it as it is over a year after replacing the parts.

The contact's mother owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled with several unknown warning lights flashing on the instrument panel. The contact then received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 20v705000 (engine and engine cooling) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact's mother took the vehicle to withnell hyundai (1996 mission st se, salem, or 97302) where it was confirmed that the failure was due to the recall however, parts were not yet available. My oil light came on--glowingfaintly rather than being fully lit. The oil level seemed down a tad so i addeda quart. Light went off. Car sat for a day. When i started it up, it seemed fine. No warning lights.i drove onto the highway.20 miles into my trip the oil light faintly glowed. So i stopped. I started the car up again & things initially appeared fine. The oil light was off. But before i traveledeven 1/8 of a mile oil light & check engine light came on.at the same time the warning lights came on, i could no longer (easily) steer the car. I'd lost the power steering.the car had not stalled. With considerable effort i got the car to the side of the road. I had the car towed to a service station. The service station said i needed a new engine. 1 year ago--car has yet to be fixed. They won't tell me if they'll pay cost of repair if they determine the engine damage was due to recall-related problems. The cost of having car towed to hyundai dealership & diagnostic work is too high. As they refuse to tell me what would be covered if damage were due to the recall issue, it is pointless to pay to have it towed and evaluated. They need to tell me if they would cover costs if they it is recall related damage. They won't answer that basic question. It won't be repaired until they do.it's been a year since i had the original arguments with them.hyundai needs to answer a basic question: in the event that the faulty parts related to the recall harmed an engine with 170000, will they pay for engine repairs-yes or no. That does not even require they look at the car. If the answer is "no" i would not spend money tohave it looked at by the dealership as they have charged me before for work that was due to another recall.i had to refuse to pay and wrangle with them in order for them to release the car without charging me for the cost of recall related repairs.

Front cover gasket severe oil leak, alternator soaking in oil.now not charging battery as engine runs on battery power the alternator is not producing power. Nowi cannot use my veracruz.fot stalledgood thing i had the time to park before the engine stalled.

While driving at 1500 rpm (25 mpg in a school zone, 2 miles after start up my car hesitates, stutters, and threatens to stall.) (60 miles an hour in heavy traffic) when in traffic, this distracts me from the area around me which is dangerous to me and to those around me. I have reported this to preston hyundai on many occasions over the past 4 years and they say, "no trouble found."i have sent them an email with photos of the engine light coming on again and again and have not gotten a reply. I have now made4 video of these incidents.

"abs failure" and "alternator recall 121" the break, abs, esc and chk engine lights all came on and stay on. From time to time the tpms light will also come on and speedometer will be at zero when driving along the highway. The car will from time to time completely shut down, even while driving along highway, which is a very dangerous situation. Upon further research and diagnostics by hyundai it seems 2 items are the root cause of the problems, 1) faulty abs module that was been reported by 100's of people and 2) faulty alternator that affects the loss in power, again with 100's of complaints. There is a recall for alternator but not the abs module. This is a very expensive repair and with only 70000 miles, this should be replaced/fixed under hyundai usa warranty.

We have a strong smell of antifreeze in our vehicle. It is constant, while driving or stationary, we can smell it inside the cabin of the vehicle or outside around the engine compartment while it is running. The level of antifreeze slowly declines. We also get a film on the front windshield. We have reported it to our local hyundai dealership and they are unable to locate the problem.i am concerned breathing this in may cause health problems and we have a 3 year old granddaughter that is in the vehicle with us.

Highway traveling at 65 mph when oil light glows but doesn't come on fully. As driver slows to pull to side of road, oil light comes on fully w/check engine light and power steering quits-all at once, making steering very difficult. It was a very dangerous situation because it was on a turn on i-81. The service mechanic confirmed that the oil was full but mentioned it being all over.this could have resulted in a terrible accident. I was very lucky.

My altanator has oil dripped on it from the valve cover gasket, which is affecting the charging capabilities. The vehicle is parked in my yard

Leaking fluid on my driveway. No action on recall noted on nov. 19, 2014 hyundai repair invoice. Reference manufacturer recall # 197. It has been 7 years waiting for this problem to be remedied by hyundai. This situation is ridiculous!

2008 hyundai veracruz under safety recall 197. My 77 year old mother experienced the engine cutting out while driving. Had triple aaa replace battery thinking that was cause. Vehicle continued to cut out while driving. Received safety recall notice and hyundai claimed there is no remedy. Submitted a case to hyundai motor corp to assist with a dollar buyout amount so that we could purchase or lease a replacement vehicle since there is no remedy, no eta fro a remedy and we do not have a working vehicle at this time. They declined our request stating that we had to just keep fixing the car until there was a remedy. I explained that it is a safety risk for my 77 year old mother to be driving that unsafe vehicle until hyundai identified a solution to the vehicle stalling issue. Philip, at hyundai was rude, impatient and just kept repeating himself until i asked him if he would put his mother in that vehicle with the 197 safety recall. Then he was silent. No response is a response. I'm respectfully requesting help to resolve this issue with hyundai so that we have a working mode of transportation.

High & low beam headlights can't be adjusted separately.my low beams are ok however the high beams shoot upway to high.(i could use them for bird hunting).i am a police officer there has to be something done about this problem.i noted that is already is a complain about the headlights with nhtsa. The dealership advised they can't adjust the high beams down or it will affect the low beam.

The headlights flash off and back on when using the turn signals while the vehicle is moving.very scary.others have reported this problem with hyundai vehicles.solution seems to be replacing headlight switch (control stalk).

On april 15, 2009, hyundai notified nhtsa of it's intent to conduct a safety recall (nhtsa recall 09v122). My vehicle is encountering the same problems that are described in this recall, however the hyundai dealer tells me that my vehicle is not included in the recall. My complaint is that hyundai fails to recognize that this recall affects more vehicles than they are aware of, or are willing to admit to. The symptoms are exactly the same and the dealer diagnosed component failure is exactly the same, yet they are not willing to replace the component under the terms of the recall. Thus they charged me for repair of my vehicle, when it should have been covered under the recall. After discussion with the service rep at the dealership, he confirmed that hyundai never replaced the defective part with a new or updated part, they are continuing to install the original part number as the new replacement part, knowing that the part they are installing is the same defective one that caused the recall in the first place.

On about june 23, 2014 my wife was driving her 2008 hyundai veracruz at about 65mph.it started slowing down even though the gas pedal was pushed.she pulled over and shut the car off while trying to decide what to do.she decided to turn the car back on and see how it drove.it seemed fine the rest of the way home.before i could take it into the repair shop the check engine light turned off by itself.i thought maybe there was just a mistake with the light coming on and everything was fine.about two weeks later, while driving at about the same speed, it started slowing down by itself again.she pulled off to the side and shut the car off again.i had her turn it on a couple minutes later and everything was fine again.the check engine light has stayed on this time and i took it right to the shop to get fixed.i ran a code reader and everything sounded like it was the throttle position sensor.well the shop tells me that it's the throttle body that needs replaced.i took it in on monday, july 14 and they said they had to order the part and it would be here on thursday, july 17.so thursday we dropped the car off and waited for the call that it was done.didn't happen!!we finally called them around 5:00 and they said that they were still waiting on the part and it should definitely be done by saturday, july 19.saturday morning they call and say that they don't know where the part it and that is lost somewhere!?!?now they're saying it will definitely be done by tuesday, july 22.we'll see.i have seen numerous complaints about this same issue and the concerns that there is a design problem with the throttle body/ throttle position sensor but hyundai doesn't seem to think so.

Leaking fluid on my driveway. No action on recall noted on nov. 19, 2014 hyundai repair invoice. Reference manufacturer recall # 197. It has been 7 years waiting for this problem to be remedied by hyundai. This situation is ridiculous!

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz.while the vehicle was parked with the engine running, the rear liftgate opened unexpectedly.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer for inspection, but they could not duplicate the failure.the failure recurred at least eleven additional times.the vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer on three occasions.the liftgate power mechanism was replaced; however, the failure persists.the failure mileage was 1,000 and current mileage was 9,000.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to shift into park. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000. The vin was not available.

The vehicle has not stalled again, but it does continue to accelerate sporadically.the consumer stated during her last visit, the service department attempted to correct the problems. She was informed that a new transmission was installed and the software was reloaded again for the electronics controlling the vehicles performance.updated 11/01/10

The driver's side seat belt locked and cannot be released so that it can be used by the driver.thus i am driving without a seat belt and listening to the constant ping of the reminder.the dealer says the entire mechanism must be replaced and the cost is nearly $600.while i note that there have been numerous other incidents reported on line, there has been no recall and this is not covered under the original or extended warranty.

Second row, driver side seatbelt jammed, unable to losen it to the point it is ruining the leather seat. Told by the dealer where i purchased the vehicle the retractor would need to be replaced due to there being a defect.

I purchased a 2008 hyundai veracruz in 2014. I was taking a friend home and as i was pulling in all lights lit up and car just shuts off. I couldn't get the car to do anything. I had the car towed. My windshield wipers doesn't work, door handles are all broken, seat belts doesn't work, alternator has been change 3 times due to oil leakage,no radio, the rpm's goes up and down and trunk won't open.

Driving on the road and try to make a left...the abs, and other lights light up and the engine stall.all assisted power was loss for direction in the middle of the left turn. Coast to the side of the road and restart the engine. Mechanics find brake fluid in the abs control unit.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. While driving approximately 60 mph, the abs warning indicator illuminated continuously. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the abs would need to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 69,700.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. While driving 55 mph, the vehicle jerked independently and stalled. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the abs module failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that they could not assist. The approximate failure mileage was 86,400....updated 06/13/17 updated 09/08/2017

60,000 miles, electronic control module failed for abs, 3 lights on, dealership and hyundai corporate won't warantee or fix. Module is a known problem and is defective and failing in a large amount of hyundai and kia vehicles, hyundai refuses to fix. All over internet about this complaint

On many occasions, specifically on 8/26/2010 (odo:16204), 7/29/2013 (odo: 48833), and 12/30/13 (odo:52877) that are a matter of documentation, among others, i advised hyundai that i was experiencing a brake problem which i variously described s "squeak," "shudder," and "plunk."they were never able to identify the cause of these disturbing sounds until recently, shortly after the expiration of the warranty.hyundai has now finally identified the problem as replacement of the hecu for the abs.i talked to the service manager; he said that corrosion had been noted in these units before.this conversation suggests that hyundai had a body of knowledge concerning the hecu issue. Instead of waiting to "duplicate" the problem, they should have investigated and inspected the hecu while it was still under warranty.now the problem will cost me $2600. *dt

I brought my vehicle november 9, 2013. Shortly after buying this vehicle, i have had brakes, pads, rotors, all around the vehicle three times in less than a year. I called the dealership to see if there was a recall on the brakes. I even call the company. I even took it to the dealer ship and they stated that there was nothing wrong with my brakes. That is the fourth incident.i am still having the same problem. Every now and again the brakes act like they do not want to stop and it is dangerous.i am not liking this at all. I have to brake about a thousand feet or more for the vehicle to come to a complete stop. I cannot drive up close behind anyone at times. It is starting to do it more and more an not even the dealership know what is wrong with the brakes. I do not remember the mileage, it was shortly after buying the vehicle. At the time it had over 95,000 miles on it. This is only a guess on mileage.

2008 veracruz that feels like my brake pedal is grinding and pulsating at speeds less than 20 mph. The brakes grind randomly and kick back towards my foot, and i have to re-brake. It only happens after the car is initially turned off and the first one or two breaks. Then, behaves normally. It will happen several days in a row, several times in a day and/or then could go weeks or months with it not occurring. We did new rear breaks. The dealer said the rotors and pads are find and told me it could be from water or something getting in there randomly (ie. Pollen). I tend to completely disagree as something simple like water would not make this significant of grinding/pulsating so continuously but yet randomly. This becomes very scary continuing to happen because i am wondering if something is about to snap and the breaks will not work or what is happening. I have reviewed several other people with similar complaints online with the veracruz.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai vera cruz. The contact stated while driving approximately 2 mph making a turn, the engine stalled with the illumination of the abs, esc and another brake warning indicator. The engine restarted and resumed normally. The failure was recurring. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who stated that the abs hydraulic control assembly would require replacement. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not notified problem. The approximate failure mileage was 50,000. The vin was available.

Problem with esc and abs lights on a well maintained2008 veracruz with 64k millage. The light turn on and off often when driving.

Brake light, abs and esc off light on repeatedly. Brake lights stopped working. Vehicle would not shify out of gear. Auto start stopped working. Had stop lamp switch replaced, now speedometer not registering and esc light flashing on. The brake light, abs and esc off light still remain on.

When braking, i would hear & feel a grinding type noise and "feel" the grinding on my brake pedal.it would feel as if i wouldn't have brakes and it would surprise me---which would make me take my foot off the pedal and then re-brake.usually at this point i would not feel/hear the same thing and my brake worked and felt normal.this did not happen every time i braked and it didn't happen every time i drove my car.it was intermittent.i told my hyundai service people i thought i needed new brakes.they checked and saw my pads & rotors were fine.this happened several times until i finally told them this is definitely happening and they needed to figure out what was going on.so my service tech drove my car until it finally happened to him.since early june they have tried numerous things to try to fix this problem.unfortunately, they've been unsuccessful!what i understand is they "think" my car feels like its skidding so the abs system engages.however, they can't figure out how to make it stop.they've exhausted my extended warranty changing out parts/computers (i think) to no avail.they've contacted hyundai engineers and they too haven't found an answer.i understand there are 2 other 2008 veracurz' that are experiencing a similar issue at the dealership i work with as well as others across the country---per the hyundai engineer to the service manager at my dealership.now i have a car a year away from being paid off and no resolution to this problem!!is this a recall issue?is this something that needs to be investigated?do i---and others---deserve reimbursement for hyundai's faulty equipment?i believe this to be the case.i have been loyal to my dealership, to servicing my vehicle and caring for my car so as to pay it off and have a reliable, safe vehicle without a car payment for a period of time!this was my goal.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz.the contact stated that the rear brake tail lights failed. The manufacturer was made aware of they failure and advised that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 09v122000 (service brakes, hydraulic:switches:brake). The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileage was 84,000.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. While attempting to shift into the park position, the shift lever seized as the esc off light and the check engine light illuminated. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who made the contact aware of nhtsa campaign number: 13v113000 (exterior lighting, service brakes, hydraulic); however, the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.

I was having issues with the brakes and it came to the point after replacing the pads and rotors and almost crashing into the cars in front of me that i took it to the dealer.i thought it may just need an adjustment on the computer but the diagnosis was "internal failure of the hydraulic electronic control unit".. I am shocked because the car is only 5 years old.i started doing research and found that the hyundai genesis was recalled for this very same reason.the dealer wants $2600 to replace it and told me they had not heard of this happening with a veracruz.if the same components or fluid was used in the veracruz as was used in the genesis - it would have the same issues but i don't see any recalls.i was told my car is dangerous to drive but i don't have $2,600 to dish out to get it fixed.i would like some assistance in finding out if other hyundai veracruz owners have reported the same.how does a recall get issued?

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. While driving 5 mph, the abs module malfunctioned and caused the vehicle to catch fire. The contact noticed smoke under the hood of the vehicle and flames ignited from the battery. A police report was not filed. The fire was extinguished by attendants from a nearby auto body shop. There were no injuries. The vehicle was not destroyed. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The failure mileage was approximately 144,000.

When brakes are applied car veers to left or right.representative for oregon hyundai parts and service drove the car on 10-4-2012 and observed that the car veers when brakes are applied. He stated, "it is normal".veering occurs dramatically if hands are not on steering wheel.attempts to correct include: new front brake pads, rotors turned, pressure to calipers checked, front end alignment checked and rotated wheels.

Received a recall notice that the stop lamp switch is malfunctioning on the hyundai veracruz model dated 2008-2009.there is risk of a crash. I tried to make an appointment with the dealer in freehold, nj and they indicated because my brakes are the adjustable kind that they do not have the parts in stock to repair this recall and have no idea when they will be getting them in. Its on back order. In the meantime, if there is a crash caused by this problem there will be major lawsuits against the hyundai company for not having the items in stock to repair these vehicles.i suggest this matter gets looked into immediately and gets resolved.there should be no excuse that parts are on back order.

Abs control module / pump failed while operating the vehicle under normal highway conditions. Abs and esc disabled and brake lights not operational. Advised by hyundai dealer to replace the abs module at a cost of $2,100 for the module (excluding labor).

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. The contact stated that while driving 55 mph, the esc and abs warning lights illuminated as the vehicle failed to shift out of park. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified. The manufacturer informed the contact that her vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 13v113000 (service brakes). The approximate failure mileage was 68,000.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. The contact was driving approximately 50 mph and noticed the brake transmission shift lock indicator illuminated until the engine was turned off. Whenever applying the brake pedal, the brake lights failed to function; however the brake lights remained illuminated after the brake pedal was released. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number 09v122000 (service brakes, hydraulic: switches: brake light) but the contact was informed by the manufacturer that the vin was not included in the recall. The approximate failure mileage was 62,300.

Hyundai has brake and rotor issues and won't do anything about it..the vehicle off the lot had rotor problems had them shaved then replaced and they were worn out within a year.. They can offer this 100,000 mile warranty because the consumer pays for brakes everytime they step foot in dealership.. If you search internet you will find brake issue with all vehicles from hyundai.. They will not do anything about this problem.. Cheap material on vehicle!

"abs failure" and "alternator recall 121" the break, abs, esc and chk engine lights all came on and stay on. I have a 2008 veracruz (48k miles) and recently experienced loss of power steering after driving through a puddle (happened twice within a 2 week period). The car could still be steered but with a lot of difficulty. Warning lights came on as if car was stalled but the engine was still running. For both instances, once i pulled the car to the side of the road and put into park, then put back into drive, the steering and car worked fine.i took it to dealer where purchased and they said that they could not duplicate the problem, nothing negative came up on the car's computer indicating a problem and most likely due to the belt slipping when wet. They said that belt was not worn and was at correct tightness. I have not driven through a puddle since, so no repeated experienced yet. I notice other people reporting similar problems with several other hyundai models.

Every time someone drives through a tiny bit of water on any road, at any speed, the power steering cuts out for like 30 seconds. Loose all ability to safely maneuver off the road. We have to avoid driving this vehicle on rainy days because we never know if we are going to lose steering. It seems like possibly the belt gets wet and slips or possibly something electrical.when this happens all of the dummy lights on the dash start flickering as well. It happens only when the vehicle is in motionon wet road conditions,it happens at highway speed or city speeds as well. This has happened 4 times in the last 2 months.

Driving on the road and try to make a left...the abs, and other lights light up and the engine stall.all assisted power was loss for direction in the middle of the left turn. Coast to the side of the road and restart the engine. Mechanics find brake fluid in the abs control unit.

The gear shift is sticking and will not move out of drive and reverse. The vehicle was stationary, turned on in a parking lot with other cars around.

Highway traveling at 65 mph when oil light glows but doesn't come on fully. As driver slows to pull to side of road, oil light comes on fully w/check engine light and power steering quits-all at once, making steering very difficult. It was a very dangerous situation because it was on a turn on i-81. The service mechanic confirmed that the oil was full but mentioned it being all over.this could have resulted in a terrible accident. I was very lucky.

Vehicle alternator went, something in driveshaft broke, causing vehicle to go right on its own into telephone pole, sir bags didn't deploy.recalls are out on these issues but no one has covered vehicle loss and loan.

While driving into the garage, the rear power liftgate opened unexpectedly striking the garage door frame and causing the rear liftgate glass to shatter.the transmission was in "drive" at the time this happened.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai entourage (na).while driving 20 mph, the rear passenger side power door opens on its own.the dealer replaced the vehicle with a new one.the failure recurred on the second vehicle.the vehicle is currently at the dealer for diagnosis.the current and failure mileages were 50.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz.with half of the contact's body leaning inside the vehicle, the rear hatch came down and struck her neck.she had to release the hatch from her neck.she suffered much pain and has sought help from doctors.the contact went to the dealer and stated that she no longer wanted the vehicle; however, they refused to take it back.the manager stated that this was not a common failure.she believes it is a safety hazard for the rear hatch to fall down on its own and could cause more serious damage to others in the future.the vin was unknown.the failure mileage was 1,200 and current mileage is 7,500. I went to start my car and i heard a nose so then i turn the car off and so as i put it in gear to drive it went on it own the brakes was not work

Esc off light on, abs light on, awd symbol light on, even safety belt on when on park gear blinks. Took it to the shop three times.says they fixed the problem but weeks later same dash warning lights come on.i'm getting screwed here.this is all past the warranty.

My altanator has oil dripped on it from the valve cover gasket, which is affecting the charging capabilities. The vehicle is parked in my yard

While driving on the highway my vehicle started accelerating on its own and kept climbing to higher speeds reaching 100mph and greater, even while pressing the breaks the vehicle still accelerated on its own. Finally after reaching a safe area to do so i had to switch the vehicle to neutral, once slow enough i then placed the vehicle into park and shut it off immediately as it was still revving and the engine began to smoke a little. From there i had my vehicle towed to lithia hyundai, i was too scared to turn it back on. Thank goodness my children were not in the car and thank goodness i did not have to cross any intersections. *dt

Valve cover gaskets leaking

While using cruise control could not push brakes car kept going.the car will not shift from out of park. I have to use a screwdriver to press the shift lock release in order to drive. Check engine light is on & the airbag light along with the esc. The brake light will not illuminate anymore.

Driving on the road and try to make a left...the abs, and other lights light up and the engine stall.all assisted power was loss for direction in the middle of the left turn. Coast to the side of the road and restart the engine. Mechanics find brake fluid in the abs control unit.

Wife parked car on driveway sloping downhill toward garage.the vehicle was placed in park and the key was removed. While she was out of vehicle unloading young child from car seat, 6-year-old boy climbed up into from of vehicle.the boy was unable to reach the brake pedal and the key was out of vehicle (in purse with wife).he was able to easily pull on the automatic shift lever and transition the vehicle into neutral (again without the ability to reach the brake pedal & no key in vehicle).the car rolled downhill and pined wife between side of garage and vehicle.luckily, the sheetmetal side panel of car deflected enough to save her and once the car ran into something in the garage and stopped she was able to escape.we are awaiting medical attention but she has severe bruising and possible cracked ribs.vehicle was found in neutral with no key in ignition.after starting vehicle (with key) reversing it, placing it back in park, and removing key, the issue with the shift-lever failing to lock could not be immediately re-created.vehicle is available for further inspection.

The cruise control was engaged.i was driving on an interstate and another car came into my lane.i pressed the brakes naturally but my vehicle sped up instead of slowing down.i immediately disengaged the cruise control and was able to slow down.i contacted the previous owner and he told me that he had the same issue.if the cruise control is engaged, pressing the brakes will cause the vehicle to speed up!i don't know how many people have this issue but it could lead to fatalities!

While on a very tight highway on-ramp at about 40 mph the accelerator was fully depressed to quickly enter the flow of traffic (cruise control was not on).the vehicle accelerated forward rapidly after shifting down. When the accelerator was released the vehicle continued to race forward nearly hitting other vehicles ahead on the highway. This racing ahead lasted 5-10 seconds and was out of control. Being very frightened, i began to hit the brakes with both feet to slow the vehicle. After a time the accelerator released and the vehicle behaved normally. Unfortunately i do not remember if the accelerator pedal stuck in the fully depressed position or if it released and the vehicle still raced forward. In any case the vehicle raced forward long after i removed my foot from the accelerator. Either the accelerator mechanism stuck down or the vehicle speed control system did not respond appropriately to driver input. I see other report on the internet of this vehicle behavior for this year and model.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, all the warning lights flashed and the vehicle stalled. The contact merged to the shoulder of the road and powered off and restarted the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The technician stated that the speed sensor needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 90,000.

The contact owns a 2008 hyundai veracruz.the contact took the vehicle to the dealer on two different occasions for the same failure.she believed that the accelerator pedal was stuck andcaused unwanted acceleration.the contact also believed that the vehicle was not shifting properly.occasionally, the vehicle would get caught at a certain speed, and would not accelerate at the appropriate time.the engine would not rev, but continued to hesitate.the first time the vehicle was taken to the dealer, they stated that they could not find any failures with the vehicle.two months later, she brought the vehicle back to the dealer because she smelled gasoline in the vehicle; however, there were no signs of a leakage.the dealer was unable to find any failures with the vehicle for the second time.on july 3, 2008, while parking the vehicle at 2 mph, the contact shifted into reverse and began to back up.suddenly, the vehicle jumped into gear, surged forward, and crashed into two parked vehicles.she attempted to engage the brakes, but they failed.the crash damaged all three vehicles involved, as well as the landscaping.a police report was filed.the vehicle was towed to her residence, where it is currently located.the failure mileage was 2,500 and current mileage was 8,819.

I was driving my kids to school when my wipers stopped working . They were working just fine and thenall of a sudden they just stopped working . There was never any signs of the wipers having any problems until they just stoppedworking that day. Thank god no one was hurt.

I have a hyundai veracruz 2008. In the past 2 months i am now faced with a second incident where my windshield wipers stopped working completely while driving on a highway in heavy rain. The dealer has explained they put in a fail safe mechanism to back out the nut attached to the wiper arms in order to protect the wiper motor so it does not burn out as it is covered by the warranty. The 1st time it happened they said it was due to the heavy snows. We have not had any snow since they last fixed it and again we were faced with a very unsafe situation as our wipers stopped during a period of rain and this time we were on a major highway with 60 miles to drive ahead of us. The dealer wants to do nothing more than replace the nut but says they can not weld it to stay in place or the motor could end up burning out. Our hyundai dealer is carousel hyundai in west chester pa. Please investigate this before someone is less fortunate than myself and ends up in a car accident when this happens to them.
