Car was t-boned at 60 mph on rear passenger side door while having backpack that weighed in excess of 65lbs in rear passenger (right side)and no right side airbags deployed even though the impact was right at the airbag sensor. Immediately after accident carbdrove fine for about 1 hoiur and then all of a sudden started to hesitate during acceleration. Car was in shop for rougghly 22 days and when car came out of body shop check engine light would come on and turn off frequently.

Takata airbag in steering wheel didn't work.suffered brain injury.vehicle was in motion going over 50 mph on jacksonville florida i95, hit median head on.

The contact owned a 2016 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that while the driver was driving in rain at approximately 22 mph, the driver hydroplaned and crashed into a parked vehicle. During the incident the front passenger side of the vehicle was severely damaged but no air bags deployed. There were no warning light that illuminated. The driver sustained a face contusion and medical attention was sought. A police report was taken at the scene and the vehicle was towed away as it was not drivable. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer key hyundai of milford (566 bridgeport ave milford ct.) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 68,000.

Fyi only (not a complaint).when using a drivers and/or the passenger side seat (simi-rigid) foam micto-fiber"cushion", the airbag seat sensor will not become engaged iin a 2016 hyundai 'veloster', thus, the airbag deployment system will remain disengaged.

[xxx] was in a car crash and his air bags did not deploy.the crash report number is [xxx], completed by the florida highway patrol.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Air bag sensor in cushion on passenger seat does not function properly. Air bag light comes on and off multiple times. Vehicle is either in motion or stationary. Light comes on for a week and then goes away for months and comes back again. Mileage since i notice it was 48000. Hyundai said the seat needs to be replaced and i would have to pay out of pocket. This makes no sense this problem should be covered especially since the seats in my car have never been touched or replaced they have the same seats that came with the car. So this faulty system should be replaced by the company. Noticed in the complaints i'm not the only one with this issues seems like it.

In september 2017 i was in a car accident in where my 2016 hyundai veloster base was t-boned on the right rear side by an infiniti suv. I had filed a previous complaint with the california attorney general against hyundai motor america and also a complaint against hyundai motor america themselves. My complaint was based on the fact that my vehicle was struck at a speed of greater than 30 miles per hour and less than 60 miles per hour and that the damages done to my vehicle were right on the right rear airbag sensor but none of my airbags deployed. There has also been a lingering odor of leaking gas but hyundai refuses to do anything about it because they don't want to take fault. Since that i have had severe migraines and developed really bad arthritis in both arms and both shoulders. My previous insurance company paid out more money to the people that his me and deemed the accident a 50/50 fault on both parties.even though the fault was on both parties, that has no bearing on a faulty airbag sensor nor does it have any bearing on hyundai's right to not do anything for me. What i had requested of hyundai motor america previously was payoff of my current vehicle or a new vehicle that doesn't have faulty equipment.

Is burning to much oil and mostly times smoke my car just have 110,543 miles...

I have had 4 hvac control heads burn out between a 2012 veloster and my current 2016 veloster i purchased after the 2012 was totalled. The part is burning out because it overheats and is a matter of time before it causes even greater damage and risk of injury in the future if not addressed.

Previous complaint # nhtsa for this issue is 11254423.

While driving the driver side seat heater instantly overheated within seconds after turning it on.

The plug behind the ac control panel (the blower motor switch) has melted because the current isn't being conducted properly. This issue started months ago when i noticed the ac control knob was getting stuck & stopped working on the numbers. This last week i smelt smoke coming from the ac control panel, which is what led me to remove the console to see behind. Apparently, this iis a very common complaint of the 2012-2016 velosters & some people have had their dash set on fire before. I fear for my safety if the car were ever to set fire because of this design flaw & i were driving. I, & other people, could die from this. Hyundai has never issued a recall or addressed this issue.

Car keeps dying because latch to the back trunk would unlock itself continuously and even more when cold .it hasbeen two months of taking my car back and still no answer until yesterday 2/19/19 the dealer ship said its my camera now killing my battery.through it all the dealer ship would keep my car and i was left without a loaner.

The vehicle has been in and out of the shop for the last year. The car has significant vibration when turning on my ac and lights. The gas mileage has dropped from 30mpg to 17 mpg. The car lunges forward when taking of and starting. I was involved in a collision where the issues partially caused me to rear end someone. The car was totaled. In the vehicle inspection the insurance company found the frame twisted. The accident was a low speed collision where no one was injured other then myself and the vehicle in front of me a late 90's early 20's lexus car red in color had little damage. Hyundai is unwilling to help me with the issues prior to the accident. The air bag deployed and i was tseen and reated for chemical burn from the airbag

My 2016 hyundai veloster will unlock randomly while it is in motion. It more commonly unlocks at 45mph or higher. Even after it unlocks it continues to try and unlock so i am constantly hearing the click it makes when it unlocks

The dash touch screen is unresponsive

The metal components of the air conditioner/heater blower switch melts on the inside creating a fire hazard.

Sounds like a "buzzing" or humming sound which could be related to camera/ on screen issue. Updated 7/25/18

When accelerating from a stop the car hesitates, then jumps forward, that hesitates again before accelerating normally.this is the usual behavior when accelerating from a stop, whether accelerating rapidly or smoothly.the behavior has always been present since the car was new. The dealer claims it is normal behavior but it is a behavior i've never experienced other cars.

Please refer to recall number 198 for a 2016 hyundai veloster, i am unable to sell my car because of the recall.

Engine stallsautomatic transmission shudders shifting from 2nd to 3rd

Car sometimes accelerates by itself even when off the gas and on the brakes.lunges in stop and go traffic. Passing gear sometimes revs up to 6500rpm's but stays in the current speed.sometimes car stays at a certain rpm even if not on the gas and wont slow down.bad lag and terrible dead spots in acceleration.i feel like transmission is not communicating well with control module and gas pedal position sensor is way off the mark.car has put me in life threatening situations but hyundai service says they cant reproduce the problem but only drove it 7 miles.i bought car brand new and just turned 5800 miles but has been back for this problem 4 times now.

Driving the vehicle just fine. Check engine light comes on gives code p0014 (camshaft position sensor) take it to shop run diagnostic. Rod bearings damaged on cylinders 3&4

Was on a 10 hr round trip drive, engine light flashed, stayed on then flashed again and continued to do this, then went into limp mode.was on the highway. Had car taken to nearest shop and the engine has to be replaced do to a cracked block.

I took my 2016 veloster in because my car was included in the rod bearing shavings possibly going back into engine and cause fire. I have since taken my car proven they didnā€™t pull the filters out or the oil pan to look for shavings as itā€™s should be check that way to ensure no findings of metal in oil. My car was in their service for over 28 hours without it being looked at. I called and somehow 15 minutes later the car is done and come get it and nothing is wrong ! i call bs my car is still a safety problem. I still have the bogging of the engine and times i press gas and car wonā€™t move. My family owns a collision shop grew up around cars still am and there is no way you can plug a computer into the module and it show you metal shavings. Can only be done by removing filter cutting it open and pulling the oil pan. I asked to see it and the refused ! i am not happy with my car and how it cannot drive normal and itā€™s a serious safety concern. I want my engine replaced as the recall states or replace my entire car iā€™m filing a law suit against hyundai and their lack of concern or lying and not properly handling such a serious recall. Till you pull my engine and prove to me there is zero unwanted metal in my engine i will continue to contact news shows the news papers and motor trend. I refuse to be treated like iā€™m an idiot when i had questions and asked them about the pan being pulled and filter removed they said we only need to connect it to the computer. Thatā€™s a lie you cannot get metal settlement from a computer !! i have now had 2 other mechanics look at it and they will testify my engine needs to be pulled out replaced and or get me into a safe car or the lawsuit will only cost hyundai

Accelerating by itself, lunging in stop/go traffic.motor revs into passing gear all the way to 6500 rpm .but stays in the current speed, and sometimes will hold at certain rpm even if not on gas , very laggy in rev i feel i'm driving older car with messed up transmission

It also began leaking oil. I removed the panel from underneath to see what happened and saw a bunch of aluminum fragments all over the panel.

Veloster hyundai's 7-speed dct contains a design defect in the transmission control module (tcm) that causes, among other problems, failure to shift, stalling, delayed acceleration, or loss of power. 'these conditions are hazardous because they severely affect the driver's ability to control the vehicle during normal driving conditions and prevent drivers from accelerating to maintain safe speeds in traffic,'

Engine knocking. Sounds louder every year. Progressively worse over 2 year now. Vehicle has approximately 30,000 miles on it. Knocks hard especially when idling. Knocks, rattles, hisses. Makes so much noise have to turn vehicle off when idling. Worried for my safety while on the road. Is my vehicle included in the engine rod bearing recalls. My issues match perfectly to an unofficial notice i received. Please help me out. I have video of the sound. Video file large. Can't upload.

My vehicle has been recalled and they do not have a 'remedy' for it. I am stuck with a car that can not be fixed by the dealership.

I was driving the car when it started smoking and then shut off while i was driving straight down highway 195 in texas. The car was towed to europe services in killeen, tx and we were told that the engine is blown out. We are unable to find a new engine anywhere. I looked online and saw that the year, make and model of my car had a recall with premature engine issues.

On approximately 02/10/21 a loud knocking noise started while driving, vehicle was towed to hyundai dealership and a claim was sent to warranty services, teck acknowledged rod knock, oil quality good and oil level ok. Almost 3 months later nothing has been done, hyundai does not want to fix vehicle, even with known engine issues

When the car is stopped at a light or in traffic with the foot on the breakwhen you release your foot off the break the car lurches forward -must be something with the new dual clutch 7-speed transmission.pleasehyundai fix this before someone gets hurt or killed

So when leaving from a complete stop in drive letting off the brake petal, and letting the vehicle start rolling itself in drive will start vibrating and making clunking metal noises. Will keep doing it unless i either do two of the following things step on the accelerator petal, or push on the breaks and come to a complete stop. And when the vehicles front wheels are turned when taking off from a stop it's2 times worse. It does it about 2-3 times daily. I've taken it to hyundai dealership to fix under the warranty and they claim that everything is normal. Don't understand how this is possible tho because of the persistent problem i keep facing. Please maybe look into this as something send not right.

Car making a lot of sound when turning off and on it's coming from the engine also stalled while driving. Was told there's a recall but still nothing done about it scared tk drive my own car that i pay for.

While driving 60 miles an hour on the interstate heading to work i begin to hear a knocking from my engine. I put my flashers on and begin to slow down because i begin to smell smoke. I was able to navigate into the nearest gas station and turn the car off. When i tried to restart the car it would not turn over. I checked the oil just to make sure because of the smell and the oil was depleted. I put three layers of oil into my car so i could get it started enough to get it to the express oil change nearby. I dropped my car off there and they performed a diagnostic test where they informed me that the engine had failed. I made a service appointment with my dealer who finally contacted me back today saying they would take a look at the car and let me know if it was part of the recall. I was never notified by hyundai or my dealership that my engine was recalled. I currently am without a car and was told that a service vehicle may be provided if it's deemed that my engine failed due to the recalled issue. I have already spent $200 in uber rides.

My car hesitated from a stop sign, then launched forward causing it to uncontrollably jump forward very fast. When i went to hit the brakes they failed to active, and had to pull the e brake. The car has had a software update for the tcm on my dct transmission but the problem seems to not be able to be fixed. This is very dangerous, and could cause a major accident or death.

While driving home from work, car stalled and would not go over 5 mph. Had vehicle towed to dealership where they diagnosed a failed catalytic converter (19,038 miles). Unit was replaced under warranty. Recently, same exact problem happened again. Driving home from work, stalled, had vehicle towed. Dealership says failed catalytic converter led to lower engine failure. Reported unit under warranty, but would be over a month to get a short block for replacement. After reading about other models with excessive exhaust temps causing failures, i am concerned that this problem is going to reoccur. I have never heard of catalytic converters failing on new cars and certainly not twice with under 30,000 miles on the vehicle. Second failure happened saturday feb 16, 2019. Car is still at the dealership.

My vehicleā€™s check engine light is on, low oil pressure light is on, the engine is knocking, itā€™s overheating, stalling, and loss of power and acceleration. I have almost gotten hit by other vehicles multiple times because the vehicle has stalled or wonā€™t accelerate. This has happened on the interstate and when pulling out into traffic. I have tried for days to an appointment at multiple hyundai locations near me to get it fixed because it has all the symptoms that the recall says to look for. I called 5 dealerships and there are no appointments available. The earliest one is a week away. Customer care is no help at all. They basically told me to figure it out on my own. I am a single mother of 2 and now i have no transportation because of their faulty engine and they are doing nothing to help fix it. What if i get hit because my engine stalls and my kids are in the car with me? what if my engine catches fire because of this? i get shut down by every dealership and they wonā€™t even offer a loaner or rental in place of driving the death trap they sold me until they can fix it. What can i do??

The rod bearings are worn prematurely creating loud knocking noises and wear on my engine that can result from immediate engine failure.

This brand new car breaks down on my teenager.it has done so on me as well.had it into the dealer and auto shops and they cnt find anything wrong.this car lea ves my kid stranded in the middle of nowhere.not safe.goes into limp mode and stalls.

The contact owns a 2016 hyundai veloster. While driving 65 mph, the gear shifter was unable to shift from the neutral position. The brake pedal was depressed to stop the vehicle. The contact pulled over to the side of the road, turned the engine off, and was able to restart the vehicle after numerous attempts. In addition, the contact noticed a fuel odor and noticed fuel leaking from the fuel tank. The vehicle was towed to rick case hyundai (3550 weston rd, davie, fl, (954) 994-2397) where it was diagnosed and repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 24,000.

Leaking!! very dangerously

I boughta veloster but hasn't been brought in for recall maintenance

Veloster turbo dct model.when the car isn't fully warmed up, the car suddenly loses power upon medium to hard acceleration.pressing the accelerator increases engine revs and transmission actually shifts, but no power is being put to the wheels. You have to fully lift off the accelerator and then depress again to get power back.for example, accelerating to merge into freeway traffic is dangerous as it loses power as you are merging and could easily be rear ended.or turning left across traffic, if the vehicle loses power mid turn you could be hit by oncoming traffic.happens every time you have medium to hard acceleration when the vehicle isn't fully warmed up.has happened too many times to number.there is video documentation on the internet of same problem.

Been a year fighting hyundai and went to arbitration yesterday. Still saying isolated incident and car is functioning as intended alrhough they paid for a 2nd transmission at 12k miles. Still missing shifts, reving up to redline while not picking up speef and cutting out while pulling from stops into traffic. Severe safety concern to say the least. If the dct failed and is part of the largest recall in hyundai history, don't you thingthey should be taking a look at our dct transmissions? i feel swept under the rug and my concerns for our families safety ate being overlooked. I found quite a fee owners on the veloster nation and ohio veloster forums with exact complaints. Hyundai refused my submissions from these forums as well as nhtsa complaints of the same nature. Shameful on their part.

Currently waiting on a remedy for this vehicle, the recall was issued on dec 1, 2020, still no remedy available nor any help or information from any of the dealerships around me. The service department wasn't even aware of the recall.

On 1/12/2020, while driving on a city street, the vehicle stalled out and smoke was coming from the engine. Within a minute fire erupted from under the hood and the car was engulfed in flames. I was going about 30 miles an hour in very light traffic. The fire department was called to extinguish the fire. They determined onsite that the fire was due to a fuel leak. A fire report was filed. Prior to this on 10/3/2019 i took the vehicle into the dealership because the check engine light came on and i thought the vehicle was leaking gas. They inspected the car and said the catalytic converter needed to be replaced. They did not identify any gas leak. We have contacted them since the fire and they are denying any responsibility. There have been other vehicle fires reported on hyundais.

Recently there was a recall issues for the 2016 tucson dct. My 2016 veloster turbo dct has had the identical issues, which began just a few months after purchasing the car brand new. It's been in and out of the dealership for 5 months now, totaling over 70 days. There have been gas issues - gas fumes smell outside and inside vehicle, losing gas abnormally fast when driving, gas tank not filling to full. The ac rattles intermittently and has blown heat off and on. Most importantly is the safety regarding the 7 speed dual clutch transmission. It is intermittent, but i have captured it on camera three times - once prior to the transmission parts being replaced, and then the entire transmission. And twice after the entire transmission was replaced. Just last friday, i couldn't drive the vehicle because it seized to shift and accelerate properly five times in a row, the most it has ever happened. I had it towed to the dealership and was placed back into a rental. Today, the dealership says "they can't find anything wrong" (this has been said over the course of 5 months because it's intermittent) and they're forcing me to return the rental - leaving me with unsafe transportation yet again. I've risked my life for months trying to capture video proof, and i have sent the video proof to hyundai - yet they are still making my return the rental and are not fixing the vehicle, nor do they have a fix for it (already replaced the entire transmission and computer!!).this is a video i created and uploaded to youtube, summarizing some of what's gone on and the video proof i have.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y3ecbr07emi have opened a case with nevada consumer affairs who has already reviewed my case and tried negotiating with hyundai. They have instructed me to open a case with nhtsa and the dmv.

The rpm's rev to 6500, but the car does not move.when trying to enter the express way car does not shift right, rpm revs to 6500, and does not shift to the next gear.i fear for my life when entering any highway.the car can't even pass another vehicle going 40mph.dealer says nothing is wrong!!!also when turning a corner vehicle hesitates to accelerate, this is a very dangerous vehicle, i do not feel safe when i drive it.something is wrong with the electronic shifting module i think.i hope that this complaint will let others know that this vehicle has acceleration issues.the dealer told me on my last visit the everyone complains about this same issue.

My car is having problems with transmission and brakes & suspension.sometimes feels like the car is going to stop if i don't press the gas is really not a good experience nobody like to drive my car they said the suspension is horrible and not a good experience on transmission.

I was stopped at a stop sign and upon stepping on the gas, i noticed that the car would not accelerate.it was making a humming sound similar to if it were in neutral. I cannot seem to have any power when shifting into sport mode getting onto the highway and does not accelerate at all.it makes an odd noise.i felt car hiccup at first when accelerating.this could be a dct issue and could be safety issue also.car is at approx 77,000 miles at this time.similar acceleration issues reported with this vehicle by myself prior although not this severe and sport mode was working fine.

The vehicle has failed to perform multiple occasions. Take off from a light and about 3rd gear the car will not accelerate but rpms will rise and will go all the way to red line, foot on gas pedal but no correlating acceleration, kicks in moment later with a jerk. Car has had two dct updates, one engine update all have not fixed the jerk acceleration and sporadic unableness to get vehicle going but rpms rise. Car has gotten stuck in gear when merging onto freeway, the car has had its rpms rise continuous to redline while foot was entirely off the gas pedal then rpms fell and acceleration fucntion resumed. No real help from hyundai as of yet or acknowledgement of a problem. Issue has been reported to them since 2016. This issue has also occured on highways while in a higher gear as well as intersections at lower gear. Gears shift efforltessly and smooth somedays and eradict and unreliable other days. Also has failed to accelerate after red light right turns that could clearly be made, however when the vehicle gets stuck and wont accelerate the risk of getting hit or rear ended is of high probablility and concern. Only a matter of time before a serious accident will happen. Issue occurs sporadically (avg couple times a month) since june 2016 which makes it hard to duplicate but it occurs and is without a doubt a safety issue and the car is not functioning as designed. Proud military family in this our sole vehicle, which is not getting the attention it needs from hyundai in regards to this major safety concern. Cant believe they keep sending us off in this death trap saying they updated it and it should fix our issue. They are aware and they do nothing to make progress on this issue or ensure the safety of the families in their vehichles when this particular issue has presented itself in others velosters as well.

The dct transmission slips out of gear and over revs constantly.when you try to accelerate the car will shift gears and usually during the 2nd to 3rd gear shift the transmission missing and your rpms shoot.once revs come down the car slips into gear.very dangerous in traffic because you can pull out of a driveway or enter a road and then no power because the gear slipped.dealers was informed and an update was applied to the ecu.worked for a short period and now car does it again.

Accelerating by itself, lunging in stop/go traffic.motor revs into passing gear all the way to 6500 rpm .but stays in the current speed, and sometimes will hold at certain rpm even if not on gas , very laggy in rev i feel i'm driving older car with messed up transmission

Upon turning and going over any kind of significant bumps or uneven surfaces the vehicle fish-tales from the back. I have tried it on different streets to ensure its the same issue and the issue is still present. I almost lost control of the vehicle on the freeway due to a small patch of uneven road. I have driven other vehicles over the same freeway spot to ensure it wast just my vehicle but did not get the same issues as i do with my vehicle. Also when coming to a full and complete stop and then putting my foot on the accelerator to move the vehicle forward the transmission does not engage correctly, either it waits to engage after the car reaches 4,000 rpm or jerks suddenly into gear both occur are on a daily basis. Another key problem with this vehicle happens when taking my foot firmly off the brake and pushing the accelerator on a hill, per the manufacturer the vehicle is suppose to wait about 15-20 seconds on a hill to allow me time to step on the gas to get the vehicle moving and prevent rollback into traffic or obstacles behind me however it is either not working correctly or defective.

The dual clutch transmission is faulty. I took off from a parking lot intending to tuen left on to the street. I was cut off by a truck coming into the parking lot and had to hit the brakes quickly. Once the truck passed the car would not move. It just revved like it was in neutral with the shift lever in drive.there was traffic coming my way as i sat in the strret but the vehicle finally got back in gear. The other day i was on the freeway and the car ahead stopped suddenly and i had to brake. When i looked the car was in 3rd gear according to the dash display. The transmission lagsand sometimes does not know what gear it is in if you creep at a red light. The recall has made it worse and now the dealer refuses to communicate or set up a service appointment because i am in a class action lawsuit against hyundai. I was sent a video by hyundai showing how you have to modify your driving habits of 56 years. I was never instructed of this at purchase or told about it. It is very scary driving this vehicle and i have no other option other than voluntary reposession.

I was sitting in a line of cars to get on the freeway i merge into traffic to have the car stumble and jump and wont go, i was almost rear ended when the car decided to take off like a rocket and i almost hit the car in front of me, this has been an ongoing issue since i bought the car new in 2016 and has continued to get worse, this was the first incident about 6 months after i got it, i took it in the dealer, they had a recall and fixed it for a while, then this same thing happens all the time on a daily basis, under normal driving conditions its dangerous because you dont know what the car is or isnt going to do, will it go when i need it to ? or stallthats the huge question, i have had it to the dealer 4 times to have them tell me they all drive like that and they don't know how to fix it or what to do, i have gotten reluctant to drive it only when i have to because im afraid it will stall or leave me stranded, this morning im coming to work and stopped at a sign, then when it was clear i go well no i dont because the car acted like it was stuck, i was in the middle of the street and it finally caught and took off, i am a very cautious driver so all of this happening im extremely careful in heavy traffic, but something has got to be done

Engine stallsautomatic transmission shudders shifting from 2nd to 3rd

When accelerating from a stop the car hesitates, then jumps forward, that hesitates again before accelerating normally.this is the usual behavior when accelerating from a stop, whether accelerating rapidly or smoothly.the behavior has always been present since the car was new. The dealer claims it is normal behavior but it is a behavior i've never experienced other cars.

When the car is stopped at a light or in traffic with the foot on the breakwhen you release your foot off the break the car lurches forward -must be something with the new dual clutch 7-speed transmission.pleasehyundai fix this before someone gets hurt or killed

Attempted to back out of parking space reverse no longer worked. Pushed vehicle out of parking and was able to drive forward to get car home. When in drive it isjerky as gears shifts. It is to slow toshift, slow to engage gears, once shift is complete hesitates low to keep moving forward then jerks forward very aggressively.

Experience shifting problems, hesitating acceleration, loss of power . Very on safe when driving trying to pull out into traffic the problems have been happening scince day one of buying the car new

Filing 2nd complaint. Huge safety issues still occurring with hyundai's dual clutch transmission. 2016 tucson dct was recalled, and still did not resolve these issues. My 2016 veloster turbo dct was never recalled and has identical issues. Multiple parts replaced for transmission which did not resolve. Entire transmission and tcm replaced and issue started happening again on new transmission/tcm. Hyundai still not acknowledging issue or know what's wrong/how to fix. Vehicle has already been in service for over 80 days. Have 2 videos on youtube of issue occurring, and ~8 more videos of issue happening that i have not uploaded.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1y3ecbr07emhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r5cu6hn9y5aissue being reported by tucson owners after recall on hyundai's fb page. Issue bring reported with veloster dct on hyundai's fb page as well as veloster forums. Everyone being turned away because the issue is intermittent and hyundai "doesn't see anything wrong/'working as designed'". Risking car accident having to drive it every day.vehicle purchased in october 2015. Issues started happening in march 2016. Transmission/tcm replaced in september 2016. Issues still occurring.

Problems began april 2017 when i placed my car in gear and it didn't move.i put it in park and then back in gear and the problem resolved itself.i didn't think of reporting it at the time.oct 2017, while decelerating to make a right hand turn, the rpms shot up to 6500 and then back down. Then beginning about february i would place my vehicle in gear (both reverse and drive) and it wouldn't engage.i recorded these, and the dealership said they could not replicate the problem.in may they replaced the shift actuator and said that would fix it.then they replaced the transmission in june saying that would fix it.they replaced the tcm and tac and said that would fix it just two weeks ago, and again i am having the same problem.

Driving at slow speeds and foot off of gas, engine screams but the car does not move even though it is in drive.slowly going up a hill in drive echo, engine dies as i press down on gas pedal.

The failure mileage was 24,000.

My car occasionally will not respond to throttle input and i'm unable to accelerate.very dangerous if trying to merge into oncoming traffic.

Sometimes the transmission will not go into gear upon starting the vehicle. This primarily occurs when first starting the car and shifting into reverse. The shifter will go into place but the car does not move when pressing the accelerater. So far this problem has been able to be resolved by putting it back in park, turning off the car, and restarting it.

When car is put into reversethe car doesn't move rpms go up . Had this issue around 9k miles 16k milesand at 21k miles car has to be turned off and restarted for reverse to work again.during first startup of car in garage , once trying to reverse out of parking lot dealer could not duplicate but have 2 different videos of times it did this.

Brake pedal depresses to bottom and does not stop the car while traveling down the highway.

Leaking!! very dangerously

At approximately 37,000 miles currently and proper documented maintenance and check requests on vehicle, this car appears to not stop as it should while in motion whether at high speeds or low speeds and "surges" and requires a longer stopping distance which is apparent in any driving weather conditions.no obvious signs of brake wear or replacement needs.no indicator sounds.

Brakes intermittently malfunction - when issue occurs, brake pedal will loosely sink to floor without slowing the car down and will only engage suddenly when the pedal is pressed all the way to the bottom. Safety of driver, other drivers, and pedestrians are put at risk because the car cannot be reliably stopped. In the latest incident, the driver could not get the brakes to engage and had to swerve the vehicle into the sidewalk to avoid pedestrians. The malfunction occurs randomly, mostly in stop-and-go situations (traffic, stop signs, parking lot, traffic lights, etc.). Malfunction has persisted for the last 8 months. There has been 3 attempts to fix by the dealership from which the car was purchased - replacing brake pads and rotors, flushing the brake line, and replacing the abs system. The dealership was able to replicate the issue. The issue has returned after every fix attempt and vehicle is with the dealership for a fourth attempt. No warnings or messages have come up from the vehicle to indicate the issue.

The contact owns a 2016 hyundai veloster. While driving 45 mph, the vehicle became uncontrollable, crashed into the median, and crossed the highway. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact called mike miller hyundai (2007 w pioneer pkwy, peoria, il 61615, (888) 372-7350) and left a voice message. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired.the manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 29,000.

Front passenger exterior door handle is inoperative, door must be opened using interior handle, regardless of lock status.

I was driving ~60 mph on a new/smooth highway (i-60 in mesa) that was empty (no cars were in front of me for at least 2 miles). The sunroof/panoramic-roof suddenly shattered (exploded) and the glass flew everywhere. Glass fell onmy head, everywhere in the car and even damaged the car antenna and spoiler (on the outside of the car). The temperature was ~60 degrees f, there were no rocks/debris flying around and the car was driving smoothly (no bumps on the road). The dealership is telling me a rock hit it (even though there is no evidence) and are making me cover the repairs! this is not right.

I boughta veloster but hasn't been brought in for recall maintenance

Ive been battling with the deslership at college park hyundai for about 7 months about my car not reading to go into reverse. The dealership fixed the car once and told me it was fixed. 2 weeks after the repair the car staring having the same problems and because the dealership could not duplicate the problem they told me they could not do anything about it. Ive called corporate and they have told me the same exact thing. The only thing they told me was to trade in the car and pay a down payment. Im losing all my money on a car that hasnt worked properly since i bought it. I bought the car august 30,2016 and its now april 7,2017. I have a video and a log book of when ive called and taken the car to the dealership about the issue. It seems like they do not care for the customers saftey or about the loss im taking for a car that never worked properly when i bought. Hyundai refuses to help me or give me a new car without paying. Help me.

I have complained many times that after stopping at a red light, stop sign or just when turning into traffic my car stalls and has almost caused several wrecks. This is very scary to me. I have complained about this since i bought this car brand new.

The interior color coating on dash started peeling on drivers side (small spot area) in 2017.drivers side door panel and window button area is now peeling.corncerned this will occur throughout vehicle and still investing in this car.take good care of it, no reason for peeling.

At times starting from a dead stop when accelerating to pull into on coming trafficthe engine rpm will go as high as 6000 rpm and as far as my mph will be approximately 10 to 15 mph and it seems as the transmission is not engaging.last time this occurred i was this issue nearly caused an accident .i have taken this vehicle to the dealership without any problems found. This condition concerns me because i never know when this problem will arise.with a low mileage car atjust over 6300 miles it makes me very anxious that i could possiblyin a seriousaccident

My check engine light came on, and turned out it's the transmission control module. Car is only 4 years old, i should not be having issues like this yet

My sunroof exploded spontaneously while driving my vehicle down the interstate. Nothing hit my car or sunroof. It just exploded. I was told that because it was a hot day and that i was running my air conditioner, that glass can "swell and break on its own". The sunroof was closed at the time. It was terrifying, i thought i had been shot. I was covered in glass as was my car. It has since been replaced, but i drive in fear of it happening again.

Was driving 70 down the interstate when suddenly heard what sounded like a shotgun and then heard air and glass went down my back. Saw glass roll down the back window. Pulled over only to find the sunroof was almost completely gone.

My husband and i recently purchased this vehicle back in april 2017.ever since we purchased the vehicle we have been having transmission issues, resulting in the vehicle stalling when pulling onto the highway. The vehicle is shifting very bizarre and my husband and i both feel eerie to operate the vehicle even for short distances.we have been to the dealership around 12-15 times and each time leave with no resolution or care.we go to the humble hyundai in texas. We have had so many situations where they just send us home, put us in a loaner while the car stays parked, etc.we have pulled onto the highway and come to a complete stop and traffic had to stop so they wouldn't hit us, we have had to pull over and put the hazard lights on, we also have one incident on film.i just don't want to continue with this vehicle and/or the company because i feel like we have been put on the back burner and our lives don't matter, only our money.please feel free to contact me through email during business hours due to my job.[xxx]my cell phone is [xxx]- i am available before 8 and after 5:30 ..attached is 1 of many repair orders that they gave us and sent us away.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).'

I have had to replace the ac control module 2 times already. The unit burns out and melts the plastic connectors that plug into the back of the panel. This is a know issue within the velsoter community. And has been a recall for the 2013 velsoters. This really needs to be a recall as do to you can only buy this part at the dealer for $279.99

Please refer to recall number 198 for a 2016 hyundai veloster, i am unable to sell my car because of the recall.

Recall information: for the past 2 months, i have spoken to my hyundai dealership regarding my air- conditioning. I know it is not an air-conditioning problem, but that of a regulator or thermister going bad. While driving, the air conditioning will be functioning fine with very cold air. Then at a random or at intermittent times will start to blow extremely hot "oven like" air. I then turn the air-conditioner off. It will then at a later time blow cold air again. I am scared the carwill seriously overheat as the air is so intently hot. I am very good friends with a mechanic that within the past year retired from hyundai for most of his career of 30 yrs. And that what he advised me to inquire about these parts. My sister within the past year has bought a 2017 tuscon/ she just had the same exact situation i do with her air-conditioning and they had a recall on her thermister recently. The thernister was changed and problem solved. I have reported this to my dealership several times. The response when i take my car in is that no code comes up so we can't fix or change anything. They stick a thermometer in the air vents and say all is blowing the correct temperature. So, now it's over 95 degrees with a heat index over 100 degrees in new orleans and my air-conditioning will blow intermittently oven hot air. Even if it is blowing the hot air, how can i possibly drive to the dealership every time it does this and then ceases. It is impossible to predict. So i need to find out what is the course of events to get this situation solved as my dealership is unwillingly to pursue any type of resolution to my situation. I can say, i will never be buying a hyundai product again...as below the dates happen randomly...no specific date...mileage is rounded of to approximate...

Accelerating by itself, lunging in stop/go traffic.motor revs into passing gear all the way to 6500 rpm .but stays in the current speed, and sometimes will hold at certain rpm even if not on gas , very laggy in rev i feel i'm driving older car with messed up transmission

Car is now hesitating upon acceleration and sounding louder than usual as well.rpm is not moving up much and harder to speed up, even in sport mode.dangerous when needing to go at relatively high speeds (onto highway onramps etc)

The contact owns a 2016 hyundai veloster. While driving approximately 35 mph, the sun roof suddenly shattered and glass fell into the vehicle. There were no injuries. Prior to the failure, the sun roof was in the tilted position. The vehicle was taken to camelback hyundai (1500 east camel back rd, phoenix, az) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and did not assist. The failure mileage was 36,000.

There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but the cause of the failure was unknown. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided the contact with a case number. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 438.updated 03/01/17*ljthe consumer stated the sun roof was repaired. The dealer declined to repair the damages to the body of the vehicle.updated 09/15/2017
