The a/c knob,when air conditioning is turned on, lights up. This light burns up the inside of the knob and causes the connections to burn out which makes it impossible to change the air speed settings. Currently mine must sit at 3 or it doesnt work at all. I also have an issue with the head unit which blacked out and stopped working out of nowhere.
All the sensors are continual registering problem. Electrical system will stop working daily. Cannot have hood shut when key out of the ignition. If so alarm will go off. Suspension is off. It seems like the car is pulling a camper all the time. The problem has been continually getting worse the past 6 months.
Approximately 1 year after purchasing my vehicle (roughly 2017) while driving on the highway my fan control knob started spinning freely, it still worked but concerned i called my dealership who all but dismissed the complaint.a few months later the knob started working intermittently and would on occasion cut off the fan if i were to hit a bump. By the end of 2019 the knob had completely stopped working.i had held off on getting it repaired as it is an expensive fix and after doing quite a lot of research i discovered it is an extremely common issue with my make and model car. It poses a serious hazard as where i live it is extremely humid and cold during the winter months and no amount of wiping and cleaning the windshield gets rid of all of the fog meaning it poses a real threat by limiting visibility.
A/c, heater, defrost, and hazard indicators are functionally intermittent.
A/c fan speed control stopped working, only owned the car for 3 yrs. 75000 miles. Pulled hvac unit from the dash to find melted connectors on the wiring harness and the back of the fan speed controller. A search online has turned up a plethora of others with the same issue in 2012-2015 velosters. There's simply too much amperage running through the connection for the high speed fan setting with improper materials used in the construction of the parts to handle it. Simply put; this is a straight up fire hazard. The fact that there e been so many complaints, yet no action on hyundai's part is negligent.
While gently washing the car the shark style antenna breaks off. This is the case for hundreds of owners. This is a defective part. Dealer charge for repair is $400.00 to $500.00 dollars. Parked in driveway.

The contact stated that she had to shake the window for the window to engage when the button was depressed. The contact also stated that due to the window ceasing, the contact was not allowed to open the driver-side door from the inside. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed with the interior trim, the window regulator, and the trunk latch needing to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure occurred. The contact took the vehicle to another dealer where it was diagnosed with nothing needing to be replaced. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and referred the contact to the nhtsa for assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 57,244.
I have reported an issue to ronnie freeze, service manager at o. B. , ms. Hyundai in april2015. Less than 3 months after purchase. I had engine and starting failure for 15-25 minutes after a check sensor code popped up. I gave this code to service, and all they could say was, 'well, i never heard of that'. Let me know if it happens again. And it did, and i reported it, and... Nothing. Same old thing, don't know what that could be. Well after the third time, i began to feel the car running still even when the key was removed. Sounds crazy but i had multiple family members who witnessed this issue. Scary that i reported this also, but nobody knew anything to do. Mr. Freeze at olive branch hyundai acted like i was crazy. I know when there is an issue and i say that i have had one since i signed papers on 01/23/2015.i am extremely lucky that a fire hasn't started with my vehicle apparently not completely shutting down. I feel that someone has known about the current situation with the engine and i also feel that i purchased a lemon this time with hyundai. I love my car and truly hate the feeling of not knowing if i will be safe the next time i get in my vehicle to drive anywhere. I feel that a satisfactory response is needed immediately from hyundai as to what i should expect from them. I need answers right away. It has been too long or hyundaito decide what the solution will be. I need a response from the company now!i no longer put 100% trust in hyundai. What could the recall cover?a replacement engine, and replacement rod bearings, and everything else that could be damaged?i feel like hyundai has failed major by not doing anything to remedy the defect in a reasonable amount of time!! i don't have a safe car to drive anywhere now. I want answers.

Bearing broke which lead to engine failure. I will have to be buying a new engine and turbo. Car stalled in the middle of a busy road. There were no prior indicators of a problem. All maintenance was up to date as well.

Driving on major highway, car lost power. Stepping on the gas would not allow the car to move. Car is no longer able to be driven and had to be towed to dealership. We are being told the engine is bad and needs to be replaced. The only detail is there is a noise. This is similar to the same problem as the earlier year vehicles. This is a huge safety concern and luckily nobody was injured and there was no crash or fire. It has taken 4 days to get a diagnostic from hyundai. They will not authorize a rental until warranty work is authorized by hyundai, which could take another three to four days. Considering the service dept is trying to go through hyundai for warranty instead of the extended warranty company leads me to believe there is something bigger that they are not being transparent about. I regret buying this car.
While driving on interstate 30 in little rock arkansas going about 70 i put the car in cruise control as were approach a hillthe car shot up to 6000 rpm and would not shift, i had totake cruise control off and use manual drive. I thought it was possibly just a fluke accident but this problem continued and eventually when i put my car and drive it won't go it takes a while for it to take off and when it does take off it jerks into gear .. I has been running rough and feels like it missing..then on the interstate 67 /167 i was trying top accelerate and the car stalled for a good moment,enough to scare me to i had to pull off abruptly..

Im writing to complain, that hyundai had a recall on my vehicle engine malfunction.this apparently was known of early december and i just found out. When i looked it up they have not started the recall process yet. Possibilities are engine fire, stalling and accidents. I wanted to make people aware of what was happening. Thank you.
Multiple times after slowing down on the hwy, i go to step on the gas and the engine has no power. I have to quickly put it in park and then put it drive again. This has happened only on the freeway. Not at a full stop.5 times in the past year.

I had problems with my engine. Found out the rod bearing was gone. Call hyundai and power train warranty expire weeks before it happened. Had to swap engines on the car because it was bad. Always had problems with the engine burning oil really bad. I also had problems with the transmission gears dropping out of no were. Last time it happened when i when to make a right turn and shift it into 2nd gear and when it shift to 3rd it drop to 1. Thankfully there wasn't any other car behind me. It would of definitely cost an accident and had my 1 year old with me. I talk to hyundai and told me they couldn't do much about it because they didn't know about anyone else with same issues.

The headlights are very dim and very low visibility at night time have to double check theyre even on and working especially when raining and at night time i was driving home two nights ago tge weather was very bad and i had to try my hardest to be able to stay in right lane and avoid debris from the wind and rain and drive below speed limit as well cant see if there is anything in road like pot holes debris etc
The catalytic converter went bad right after 60000 or 62000 to be correct. I also had a check engine light come on the next week, so we took took the car back in and was told it needed a new engine. This all making no sense to me at all, they said they found metal pieces in the oil pan.

I had my 2015 veloster at the dealer 5 times for the auto trans sounding like the axles were bad when going into reverse. Trans was flaring up between 1-2 & 3-4 but was told it was normal.that was 5200 miles. At 14314 this bad cv joint noise started & again was told it was normal.at 20859 trans was replaced per the hyundai field engineer. Both problems still there. Never even got it home before noise started. Back in at 25878 with both problems as of yesterday & now they are saying its a charastic of the vehicle. This vehicle travels 240 miles per day as u can see by the milage. If these axles or cv joints let go my wifes life could be in danger at 70 mph. Ddealer insists no problem & i have notified hyundai of america & the bbb auto line with no call back as of yet. Tnx for your help in advance
Cylinder 1 has been misfiring. Has the error code p0301. I took it in to hyundai and they said it was just a spark plug. Changed spark plugs and coil packs and the problem resolved for a few months and now is worse. Misfires/backfires in the engine when pressing gas. Loud popping sound comes out of the engine. The car also does not drive properly. It is shaky when driving.
Transmission would hesitate when going from a complete stop to trying to go. This issue also occurs if you are completely stopped or while going up a hill at slow speeds.
Dual clutch transmission failing. Intermittently boot ot engaging into r or d gear and slips out of gear while driving on street or highway. I've done research and it appears this is a very common concern from a high number of hyundai veloster owners. I concider it dangerous as how it happened to me while driving trying to accelerate, gear slipped out and vehicle only reved high and no acceleration. Luckily no fast traffic was behind me. This could have been worst. This has happed twice and hyundai has yet not found a fix and told me they cant find problem as there is no trouble codes registered in transmission. Mileage when first happened to me was about 50k and second time at 90k. Every maintenance has been been performed to vehicle with records.

The failure recurred three days later and the vehicle was taken back to the dealer who then changed the gear shift actuator. The failure recurred within 24 hours and the vehicle was once again taken to the dealer. The dealer replaced the transmission. The failure recurred and the gear system was completely dislocated, unable to shift into reverse or drive. The vehicle was towed back to the dealer and provided the contact with a loaner vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and continued to check on the contact. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 2,900.
When the car is first turned on and put into reverse it periodically will not go into gear. If you put the car back into park and then into reverse it still will not go into gear. You must put the car into neutral and then into gear. This has happened twice in the past two months.we have recorded the transmission not going into gear and both hyundai of america and our dealer are doing nothing. I've been told that if they can't reproduce it themselves 'it is operating as designed'. This is a major component of any car and it having gear changing issues makes me concerned that it could escalate beyond this.
The automatic transmission fails to shift. The rpm's will increase but the speed will not. The transmission will not re-engage until the vehicle is turned off and restarted. This happens when the vehicle is in motion and accelerating, usually while i am on and incline and after the trasmission has been through frequent shifts at high rpm's. Over the past 2 months squealing noises have become ver noticeable on the brakes. Supposedly it is moisture, but it should not happened when it is 98 degrees fahrenheit. I went to a local well known mechanic shop and replaced the brakes thinking it was the brake pads but it wasn't. The noiseonce again showed up. Another issue, the ac goes on and off intermittently while on the road.

While washing my 2015 veloster, the shark fin anntena just broke off,i see this has happened with hundreds of hyundai vehicles yet they have not done anything about it. The dealer wants an outrageous $500 to $600 , i got crazy glue and carefully glued it back on. Its solid as a rock now and only cost me $6.99 for the glue.

The truck latch broke at 30,000 miles on my 2015.
My car has problem with the transmission, the car first looks as have problem with the ignition (stationary) but then you move to drive or r do nothing, but the real problem is that have only 30000 miles and i just pay my last payment two weeks ago. The other thing is that the hyunday page do not have options to find a dealer near me when i write my zip code. I sent my car to problems with the tire sensors and they do no repairs, i feel i have no confidence in their subcontracted reparing dealers, they put the responsibilities of the guaranties into subcontracted repair dealers.
While driving with my sunroof closed, i started hearing a strange popping, cracking noise. A few seconds later, there was a loud boom noise followed being showered by broken glass shards. My sunroof exploded, out of the blue. No collision, impact, or fast speeds. It was there one minute and gone the next.
Kumho kh tires are dangerous. The tires on this vehicle do not qualify for tamy current recall. They desperately need to be recalled and replaced due to poor quality, separation and loosing air. Many veloster owners have experienced this serious safety issue. Please take notice and develop an action plan to remedy this problem. Many thanks!

I was driving the 2015 veloster turbo on a straight portion of the freeway between 65 and 70 miles per hour with the sunroof open. The sunroof shattered unexpectedly, and glass flew both into the car, and out behind the car. The glass landed on my arms, head, lap, and went down my back as well. I swerved to the right as a reflex to being startled, and then overcorrected and went left past my lane. I did not hit any cars, however.glass kept falling on to the freeway, into the car, and on my head for a few more minutes as i made my way to the dealership service department. Once at the dealership, i inspected the damage and found that the glass shards had made many cuts into the paint toward the back half of the car. The dealership later had me circle these scratched with a wax pen. Initially, i was going to be charged a diagnostic fee, but when i mentioned that this had been an issue for previous year models, another service consultant jumped in and told me it would all be taken care of under warranty.

So my manual heater knob randomly stopped working as i was driving on 6/4/21 around 11 am as i was about to do an errand run for my family. I was told from a friend that there was a tsb issued on it and looked it up. I went to my local dealership island hyundai staten island explained what was going on and they told me because it is a tsb and not a recallyou will be responsible for the cost of repair.i told them why should i when this is a defective situation out of my hands i shouldn't have too.

I went to a local well known mechanic shop and replaced the brakes thinking it was the brake pads but it wasn't. The noiseonce again showed up. Another issue, the ac goes on and off intermittently while on the road.

I just noticed that on my right front tire there is a bubble on it's side wall. The car leased new back in july of this year. The tires are the kumho solus kh25. I've also noticed here on this site, i seen a complaint for the same thing. I'm have an appointment on monday to see what are they going to tell me. As for speed control. This car cant go above 55mph - 60mph while on highway normal curves without the rear swaying while run over divider line on the pavement. Less speed when it rains. I'm really having doubts about this car once it starts to snow.
While driving on interstate 30 in little rock arkansas going about 70 i put the car in cruise control as were approach a hillthe car shot up to 6000 rpm and would not shift, i had totake cruise control off and use manual drive. I thought it was possibly just a fluke accident but this problem continued and eventually when i put my car and drive it won't go it takes a while for it to take off and when it does take off it jerks into gear .. I has been running rough and feels like it missing..then on the interstate 67 /167 i was trying top accelerate and the car stalled for a good moment,enough to scare me to i had to pull off abruptly..
The vehicle was in motion at about 20 miles an hour on a well maintained city street and the rear hatchback glass shattered completely.
After shopping for about 15 minutes, i was in my parked vehicle with my sibling in the target parking lot where the car was on but not running . I opened the automatic felt cover to where the sunroof does not open as well only the felt cover will open. I completely started my car so that it's now running and this is when my sunroof made a loud popping sound almost like a gunshot and started opening unprovoked then completely shattered over both of our heads.
The contact owns 2015 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that while driving at 65 mph, the sunroof shattered. As a result, the passenger sustained minor injuries that did not require medical attention. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but the cause of the failure was undetermined. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 5,246.
