Clock spring sensor 2014 hyundai veloster
I haven't had many troubles with steering like others have however i have had problems where the car doesn't immediately go into gear. I can start the car and it takes up to a minute to go into gear and every once in awhile i have that problem when switching over neutral (ie. Going from park or reverse to drive or vice versa) another problem i'm having troubles with is the electronics. When i go to back up the rear camera appears for 1 or 2 seconds then goes to the radio. Its nearly an everyday thing. Sometime the radio, discs, or media player will play music but will be silenced and i have to change the mode and switch it back before it will play. Has nothing to do with the volume i have tried that. Also recently my clock has started to reset every time i turn the car on. It resets to 11:10. Everything except the clock has been happening for months and i cant get anything done unless i pay. Which i refuse because it shouldn't be my problem.
Hvac fan switch not working.
My steering is sticking when going down the road like a magnet is holding it in place witch makes it hard to stay in the lane. L have also notice that my interior lights would get bright and dim on their own at times. I also have my headlights shut off while driving.
Back up camera is flickering when car is put in reverse, camera goes black at times.this car has less than 40,000 miles on it. The camera shouldn't be going bad.
My ac knob has melted and it is because a short within the knob itself
I purchased my 2014 veloster turbo right off of the showroom floor. When i was driving home , 90 miles from the dealership, i noticed it was really hard to keep my car straight in the road. I physically have to force my car to stay straight on the straightest highways. I took it to the dealership the next day and it was found to be out of alignment . They aligned it, only to experience the same issue driving back home. I have now had my vehicle in to 3 differenthyundai dealerships and have records of the adjustments. It is still not aligned making it very difficult to drive safely .at 5k miles we were driving on a road trip and had been driving all day. We were getting back on the interstate and my check engine light started flashing and my car started slowing down even though i was trying to accelerate . It cleared up and i drove a few more miles when it acted up again, this at 65 mph. Same issuesflashing lights, slowing from 65 to 30 as my car felt it was not getting any power.i was able to report it to my bluelink, although it did not show on their end. This has been checked several times by hyundai , although they are not able to detect or duplicate the issue. It continues to happen to me. I am to the point where i am frightened to drive it anymore. Not only for my safety but for others as well. I have a total of 7 service records with no answers except , if it happens again come right in and hopefully the computer will tell us. The alignment was done 5 times and took in 6, although it is still all over the road.the answer i get for the alignment now is, " customer may also not be used to electronic steering system". I am a 43 year old man that has been driving for almost 30 years. I have another vehicle with electronic steering that drives straight on the same roads. Thanks for your time...
When driving the car during day or night the headlights will cut off and they will also flicker on and off, this has been happening for the last 3 months. The stereo also won't cut on when i cut my car on i have to open to passenger side door for it to come on.
The aca controller knob gets extremely hot , the inside has melted and no longer works so the ac and or heat does not blow out of the vents,
The ac/heater blower motor controller in this vehicle and every model that shares the same style knob has a serious defect. Along with the fire hazard this presents it also effects the use of defrost which can be a serious issue in some climates and the switch may fail completely rendering the defrost functionally unusable. Attached you will see images of the inside and outside of the switch in question as well as the connector for the switch which have suffered serious heat damage. This is a fire hazard. Hyundai chose to use the switch itself as the current passing conductor instead of a relay as used by most manufacturers. This decision is clearly reflected as a negligent one with regards to the structure of the switch and incorrect gauge of the wiring used for said switch. With normal use in any position on the dial, this issue will cause the wiring of the connector, and the insides of the switch to overheat. This is not a matter of functionality, this is a matter of safety. With these low gauge wires being used for this it poses a serious risk of fire. Please see the attached photos for evidence of the switch and connector deformation caused by overheating. Please bare in mind that the switch components and connector appear to be made of pa6, a glass fiber reinforced nylon which is intended to stand up to a great deal of heat. Additionally the wire wrap (pictured below) meant to protect the wiring on this connector from rattling is made of a cloth/composite material, with the ability to melt and catch fire. This issue is a constant being down to the wiring. In motion, stationary, or otherwise has no bearing so long as the climate controls are being used. Thank you for your time.
Engine was making increased noise and loss of gas mileage. Dealer assured vehicle checked out ok. Less than 2,000 miles later at 101,000 engine 'threw a rod' while being driven on neighborhood roads. Hyundai refuses to cover reconditioned engine replacement. Offered less than half of cost.
Since nov/dec 2020 low oil warning lite started flashing at 2 separate svc intervals for oil change maintenance. At service visit in jan 2021 requested dealer to inspect for oil leaks. None were found but since then i began checking oil level regulary & found out the car was consuming excessive amount of oilā€¦about half a qt every 250-300 miles. At next service appt to have oil change i informed dealer of my findings which he advised performing the 1000 mile consumption test & wait till after to change oil. He advised if vehicle fails consumption test hyundaiā€™s guidelines suggest a combustion chamber cleaning (at a cost of over $400)! my complaint is if the cleaning is part of hyundaiā€™s repair guidelines & thereā€™s no other alternative to this step, (as referenced in tsb# 21-em-003h) why does the customer have to pay the $400+ to have it done if the customerā€™s vehicle has less than 100000 miles so it should still be covered under the 10 year/100000 mile powertrain warranty.
2nd engine i paid for. Engine has no oil leaks no burning oil. Out of nowhere engine starts knocking no oil in engine. And now due to a bankrupcy i can't even purchase a new car and i can't afford to replace the engine at my cost again. Jones hyundai was contacted the first time and the did nothing
Vehicle stopped driving under its own power after driving for several miles on a couple occasions. Usually after driving at about 60mph for 30 miles or more. It either bogs down giving time to pull of the road or stops completely after trying to accelerate after a complete stop. Vehicle is giving a p420 error code but exhaust technicians say it is not the catalytic converter. Vehicle will drive after exhaust system has been given time to cool. Compression is bein lost in one cylinder as determined by hyundai dealership. Dealership claims a new engine and converter is required. Results appear to be the same conditions as listed in sc176 for the kia soul 1.6l gdi engine. High exhaust gas temperatures may damage the catalytic converter, possibly resulting in abnormal engine combustion and damage to one or more of the engine's pistons and possible piston connecting rod failure.
The first issue was the clutch. I was driving in charlotte, nc city traffic and the clutch stuck to the floor and made my car stall. I was able to pull it up with my foot and restart the car. I had no indication that the clutch was bad. It wasn't slipping at all and i had no difficulty shifting gears prior to this happening. The next issue was the engine. I was driving on the highway and it lost power. It wouldn"t accelerate properly. I took it to the dealer and they said the turbo went first and then metal from the turbo went into the engine and ruined the engine. They said the clutch needed replacing.the car doesn't even have 71,000 miles on it.i wouldn't expect an engine to be ruined at less than 71,000 miles. I was terrified being in traffic in this unsafe vehicle wondering if i was going to be hit. The entrance below asks for a specific date, here are the occurrences and dates: june 2019 clutch sticks to the floor and stalls in traffic several times. Take to aaa auto services as soon as it happens and they can find nothing wrong. Continues to happen approx. Once a week.sept 12 the engine starts whining, revving and losing power all at the same time when the gas pedal is pressed while in traffic on the highwaysept 13 check engine light comes on and nav screen stopped responding and doesn't have much powersept 14 even further power loss, smoke coming from exhaust, car stalls and stops while in charlotte city traffic. Take to dealer. Diagnosed with stated above.

The contact owns a 2014 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that while driving at undisclosed speeds, there was a knocking sound coming from the engine compartment. Additionally, the vehicle had stalled while driving and also hesitated while attempting to accelerate. During the failures, the check engine warning light was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer healey hyundai (410 fishkill ave, beacon, ny 12508, (845) 360-9822) who replaced the catalytic converter however, the failure persisted before the engine failed. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 103,000.
Car maintenance has been well kept. Road in dc, hit pothole suddenly engine started to make horrible noise and stalled out in the middle of traffic. No tapping noise before this incident. All of a sudden metal in oil and was towed to hyundai dealership. Dealership told me my engine seized. As a single mom this is not a reliable or safe. I was only going 35mpg. If this happened at a higher speed or on a highway this could of been a fatal incident.
We were driving on the new jersey turnpike doing about 60 or 65 mph and all of the sudden the car started misfiring car jersey and started vibrating inwas close to exit 12 so i got of exit 12 and found a parking lot where there was a pep boyz and towed the car to my sister in laws house. Took it to the shop and they said that the car does not have compression in cylinder 2 the car never showed any symptoms of any sort car always ran fine oil changed on time always cared for.
Vehicle has the same engine as the recall in sc176 for kia soul and has the exact same situation as described in the recall. 1.6l gdi engine now has one cylinder with no compression, has caused engine to stall while driving and has oil leaking through the exhaust system. Accidents have been avoided but the vehicle can not be driven for extended times as the system gets hot it leads to stall or potential for fire as mentioned in sc176.
4 can shafts exploded and the oil was blowing out of the exhaust. Causing the catalytic converter to fail early as well.
So ibought. My volster oct 11th 2018 not qiutea yr ago. And im driving my car all of a sudden i hear a very odd nois i thouvht my turbo was going out .i takeit to dealership they and i asked for a loaner car while they were checking it out .it was some what drivable rpm reved up high i could. Only go 30 maybe miles a hour the check engine light on stated on. They said they didnt have a loaner car . So i drive my car home well i had to go to work so of course im having to drive mt car like this it starts pooring billowing out white thik smoke from back n engine temps goes sky high. I ened up having my car towed to hyundai dealership. Its there now i think my car engine has seized or block is cracked .
Car spontaneously loses power to engine while in motion. When starting the vehicle, the engine sometimes struggles to turn over and does not correctly read rpm as this dial will read 0 rpm even while in motion. When this occurs it is accompanied by difficulty accelerating uphill and bucking. On 2/24/2021, while driving up a small hill on a city street, the engine shut off and the no key detected light turned on. The engine turned back on about 1 second later and dash read 0 rpm even though the vehicle was accelerating. On 2/25/2021 while pulling forward in a drive thru restaurant line, the vehicle's engine shut off and the no key light, battery light and check oil lights came on. I took a picture of the dash at this time. I turned the vehicle completely off and restarted it. Dash continued to read 0 rpm but was able to accelerate. I turned the vehicle off again and then restarted it a second time and the vehicle then seemed to be functioning properly for the remainder of the drive.

The car as i would describe it stalls randomly while driving under 40 mph, the engine doesn't shut off but i lose drive power and the rpm shoot up.the dealership has not been able to reproduce the issue and no engine lights come on when the problem happens. I fear this will end up causing me to get rear ended.
Car was running fine and out of nowhere the engine starts rattling. It then turns off completely at an intersection and i take it to the mechanic and they said it was a compression rod failure that cause the engine to just not work.
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai veloster. While driving at an unknown speed, the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer (jim burke hyundai, 1424 5th ave n, birmingham, al 35203) where it was diagnosed that the oxygen sensor failed. The vehicle was repaired, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 52,000.

Sold a 2014 hyundai veloster with grinding brakes, acceleration problem, and vibration issues. I was told everything would be fixed. I returned the car within 24hrs. The car vibrates dangerously at 50mph and above. The car hesitates when taking off, trying to pass, or get on freeway. This is also dangerous because cars already going 70mph could of hit us while trying to get on freeway. Sometimes while giving the car gas it would just rev up the rpms without doing anything. This also scared me into returning the car. I went back to test drive the car to see if problems were fixed, and the mi gente auto dealership told me they just replaced tires and that fixed the problem. I told them they can keep the car, because i don't want to keep coming back for same issues. I was threatened with repossession will be added to my credit.

Steering wheel when stationary makes a clunking noise when turning left to right at the steering column. When driving it feels loose and also makes a clunking noise when steering on the road, when reaching higher speeds on the highway it would vibrate the steering wheel. I stoped by a local auto mechanic and he told me that hyundai's have this problem and i should take back to dealership to have fixed. He told me it was the steering coupler. I purchase 2 hyundai veloster in 2014 and both vehicles have now had this replaced both under 35,000 miles. But this one was out of warranty when it happened but was under 35,000 miles. This shouldn't be happening at this milage.
This car will not drive in a straight line and cannot center again by itself. The driver must constantly correct left to right. If you drive in the winter on clear roads interrupted by icey patches, the car breaks loose immediately. In a recent snow squall on route 81, pa i was the only car struggling to go straight on thehighway. It was chilling and dangerous.this car needs a recall.google veloster steering problems.
There is a clicking with the veloster steering wheels. It could cause me to crash and wreck. It just started happening one day
Out of the blue my steering wheel seem to become loose and starting making a click sound when turned turned to the right or left. Although other hyundai vehicleshave recalls for the same problem, my veloster is not. It is a known problem for this car maker and they will not cover the huge bill to repair it unless you are still under a warranty. It is not safe!

Power steering coupler is defective and makes a rattling sound when vehicle is in motion. Several other models have been issued recalls on this part but not the veloster. I'm wondering how much safer it is to drive veloster this way as opposed those huyndai models that were recalled.
Clunk and lag in the steering caused by worn rubber coupler mdps - after 48000 miles - appears to be a known issue with no recall/warranty
The contact owns a 2014 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, there was an abnormal clunking sound coming from the steering wheel. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where she was informed that there was a fractured coupling within the steering column that needed to be replaced. The contact then spoke with clay cooley hyundai of mesquite (16230 lyndon b johnson fwy, mesquite, tx 75150) where she was informed that there were no recalls on the vehicle. The contact reached out to the manufacturer via email however, there was no response. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 82,000.
Power steering couple noise and alignment problem standing and driving
My steering wheel was dramatically clunking whenever i turned it. After taking it to a mechanic, he informed me that it was the steering coupler issue, which is apparently a problem on multiple vehicles which are being covered under an extended warranty, but not mine. I don't understand why this part, which has obviously failed in the past, is being covered under warranty on other vehicles. I have provided a picture of the part once it was removed. It is quite clearly a safety issue which could have had fatal consequences. After being charged roughly $250 in labor, i found out the part was $1.53. It is sickening that a 2014 veloster with 56,000 miles on it should have this problem.
Clacking noise within steering wheel (defective coupler) vehicle makes noise while in motion during any traffic situation and including turning.
My car was stationary over night and my sunroof busted. Had gotten home the night before after driving for 6 hours and parked the car. I had been near it several times and never saw a crack or anything. Went to get in this morning and it has glass everywhere.
The tailgate release pad has to be pressed very hard to get the latch to unlock.we began noticing this issue at christmas when we were loading the trunk for a trip home and it has progressively gotten worse.there were several times when we thought we would not be able to get the trunk open at all which would have made the trunk completely useless.i took it, today,to my local hyundai dealership where they confirmed that the pad had collapsed inside of the switch and needed to be replaced.due to the part number for the replacement switch/pad indicating that it was a recalled part the service department did a search for a recall or campaign on this part they discovered that there was a campaign for this part on velosters with a model year of 2015 and 2016.i want to report this now on the 2014 model year veloster turbo as this was an expensive replacement that should have been covered under the same campaign as the 2015 and 2016 models as it is the same exact issue according to the hyundai service department.
Takata inflators - front and read door latch malfunctions, ie.: front and rear door outside and inside latches not releasing (opening) manually and/or electronically with fob resulting in potential safety issues. The auto was parked and doors locked using fob. When i returned to car, i pressed the unlock button on fob, heard the clicking sound the fob makes when the unlock button is pressed; we pulled the driver side and both passenger door latches, the driver and rear passenger doors did not open. My guest tried to enter the rear passenger door by pulling the inside latch, it still didn't open.next i pulled the drivers side door latch from the inside, it opened. I leaned into the car, turned on the engine to roll down the drivers window to enter the car.i've tried replacing fuse and fob batteries, resetting the lock/unlock code and nothing seems to work. Crawling over seats, rolling down windows the running around car, and leaving window open are safety hazards. Two non-working doorsare safety issues and negatively impacts my customer experience.
I purchased my velsoter brand new with 33 miles on it in november 2014. If feb of 2015 i started to notice that the front end was shaking a little. I took it into my local dealership to have it looked at and get and oil change. I had about 8k miles on it. Their was a small scratch on one of the rims about 1/2 long, but nothing that would have caused the amount of shaking that was happening. The serviceman said he rotated the tires and their shouldn't be anymore issues. When i drove it home it was not any better in fact i thought it was worse. I took it back in yesterday to figure out why it is shaking and have it fixed. I was told that their were several dents in 2 of my rims which was throwing it off balance. I have not hit anything, i have not driven at speeds over 50. Their is no possible way that these dents happened due to anything being hit during normal everyday driving. They aren't looking anymore into it and won't fix it. I am very upset that this has been handled like this. Their is obviously some sort of defect or something with these particular rims if they have dents in them that have been caused by normal road conditions. They need to look more into it to figure out what the issue is because i should not be responsible for something that i have not caused.

Passenger rear door fails to open (from the inside or outside) resulting from defective door actuator mechanism. This problem is an obvious safety concern as passengers cannot exit the vehicle in case of an emergency.
Tamara recall: the driver and rear passenger do not open from the outside and inside. The car was not in motion, parked with the engine off.
On 09/23/2017 i was driving on the highway on a sunny day, around 80 degrees with my sunroof closed, and the sunroof cover open to allow the sunlight in. While driving on the highway about a mile from my exit, i heard a loud bang that startled me (sounded like gunshot), all of a sudden i felt stuff hitting my head, face, and shoulders. I look up and saw my sunroof exploded with shattered glass flying all over my car and realized glass is what was hitting me face and body. Luckily, the sound of the sunroof exploding and glass flying all over the place, i was able to still keep control of my car.i slowed down to exit the highway and pull into a parking so i could get out of the vehicle and look it over. I never saw anything fly up at my car, or at my car when this happened.there were no vehicles close to me when this happened. As i looked over the car, i saw how badly the the sunroof looked and glass all over my car seats. I picked pieces of shattered glass from my hair, shirt and pants. I immediately called my insurance company to file a claim, and took pictures of the sunroof.the car was towed to a storage lot until the body shop was open on monday. I requested for a local hyundai dealership to look at it first before the auto-body shop because my car is still under warranty. A gentleman from dealership's service department took pictures of sunroof and submitted to hyundai on 09/26 to investigate the claim. On 09/28, that service advisor from the dealership left me a voicemail that the claim was denied. I called and spoke to that service advisor to obtain a reason for the claim being denied. He said hyundai's investigation revealed an outside influence cause the glass to break, but i was provided with no report or any other explanation on how they came to this conclusion. I saw some 2012 velosters were recalled for sunroofs exploding. It's a huge liability.
While driving around 50 mph on a texas highway, the tire sidewall blew out on the front drivers side with no cause, the tires have never hit a curb, properly maintained. This almost caused an accident. The vehicle only has 29k miles and has routine maintenance, original nexen tires. These tires need recalled, they car is in perfect condition only 2 years old.
