I have a 2013 hyundai veloster. The airbag light on had checked show code for driver side clock spring bad. Noticed hyundai is replacing them on 2011- 2014 elantras, sonatas, and sonatas hybrid to 15 years and unlimited mileage from date of original retail delivery or date of first use as listed on internet. What makes my 2013 hyundai veloster any different i same issue as vehicles listed. This is a safety issue that should be covered! warning light came on while driving.
The air bag module (codeb1346) is non functioning in 2013 hyundai veloster. Manufacturer nor extended warranty will not cover as they deem airbag module part of the seat belt clause. I was informed this can cause airbags to not deploy in event of an accident. Hyundai is non responsive to inquiries about replacement. This is a major safety issue and, upon inquiry to other veloster owners, this occurs very frequently in hyundai velosters.
The contact owned a 2013 hyundai veloster. While making a turn at 40 mph, the contact was involved in a front end collision. The air bags did not deploy. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was totaled and towed from the scene. A police report was filed. The contact suffered minor bruises that did not require medical attention. An unknown dealer and the manufacturer were made aware of the failure, but were unable to assist. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The failure mileage was 110,000.
I have had to have multiple items fixed on my 2013 veloster turbo, i have had the factory speakers replaced because they have blown, had to have the a/c control job replaced and recently the red air bag light has come on. Mechanically it has been worse, at 72000 miles or so the turbo blew while driving at normal speed on the highway. This was fortunately covered under my warranty. I started having to replace spark plugs frequently as they became covered in oil, then in february my engine gave out. I took it to the dealership and they did a compression test and told me i needed a new engine. I was out of warranty by 5000 miles so i had to buy a used engine and have it replaced, three months later i got a recall letter in the mail saying the engine management system was recalled.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated after getting an oil change, two days later the air bag warning light was illuminated on the control panel. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed with the air bag needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 118,698.
Air bag warning cluster light is always on.the horn doesn't work.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that the air bag indicator illuminated and remained lit. The contact took the vehicle to john o'neil johnson hyundai (2001 highway 39 north, meridian, ms 39301, (601) 621-5100) and was informed that a new air bag was needed at the cost of $530. The replacement air bag did not work and the dealer had to order another one. The new air bag malfunctioned again so the dealer ordered a spring for the repairs. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 42,000.
My airbag warns light came on
The fan switch for the hvac quit working, so i took the climate control module off to see what the problem was and noticed the switch itself was melted and burned, as if there was a fire and/or the voltage is too high. This is a severe fire hazard and should be looked into immediately. I am not the only person having this issue.
My climate cintril knob stopped working st different settings. Sometime i get levek 4 firce of air when the selectiin is on 1. Or other times i get air force of 2 when the selection is on 4. My ac also won't work once the knob started actung up. My second issue is my check engine light gies on and off. I got a reading of dtc p0087 but i am told there is no recall even thou there is a tsb out there.
Our 2013 model hyundai veloster closed sunroof exploded on february 27, 2016 while driving down freeway at 65mph in fast lane. It sounded like a gun going off when the roof exploded into pieces on the backs of me and my husband. We where is utter shock, trying to get off the freeway safely while glass falling on us. When looking at the roof, it was clear that it exploded bursting from inside out; leaving the frame bent like it was forced open from inside out. This was not a pressure issue (before getting on freeway, the sunroof was open). It was not a hot or cold issues either as it was a nice 72 degrees.though there is a recall for the 2012 veloster models and unfortunately there has not been enough people to report issues for 2013 models as of yet.when contacting hyundai dealership, i wanted to file complaint (they gave me an 1800 number) then i asked if there were any issues, they denied ever hearing about something like this.as my husband and i are commuters, we have already run out of warranty and would need to pay out of pocket.i will be fighting for reimbursement of the $1,490.00 ($500 deductible) that it cost to fix the sunroof and frame that needed replaced. My argument is that i purchased my 2013 vehicle in oct. 2012, therefore my car was manufactured in 2012 and they were still using the 2012 defected roof for the early 2013 models and that should be honored to the 2012 recall.
I purchased my 2013 hyundai veloster in fall of 2015 as second owner from world hyundai in matteson, il.it had roughly 32,000 on the odometer.after two decent years of relatively trouble free ownership the "electrical gremlins" attacked the trunk release, then the reverse camera, then the climate control knob.i was reluctant to take the car in againbecause i had spent more money on diagnostic charges than i had on items that were covered. I liked the vehicle and meticulously maintained it to spec as well. On one of the coldest days in winter of 2019, i went out to start up my veloster and was terrified by a loud metal ticking followed by rattling in the motor. I immediately shut down the car. I waited a bit then tried to start it again. It was very bad. I took the car to the closest hyundai dealership in which i described all the issues with the car.at this point the vehicle has roughly 92000 miles on the odometer and of course the tell me there is nothing they can do but, replace the motor for around $4500 , sell me a new one, or buy it in trade. Once again i paid over $430 in diagnostic fees with no coverage or help. Looked around on line and found that these vehicles has hadall of the above issues and no clear solutions to any.i've also noticed that all of the issues i have had with my vehicle many others have posted on youtube, google etc., but not many have filed official complaint. Come on people! get on board!
Stereo speaker system keeps coming loose from, harness, repaired, broken again.was told by dealer recall issue. Both headlights and factory installed fog lights have repeatedly gone out, costing several hundred dollars to repair. Paint is chipping off vehicle in several places, has been since approx 6 months after buying car and told by dealer there is nothing wrong with paint, although chipping in straight line
One afternoon during rush hour in the bronx my gear stick would not shift from p to d so i had to use the override shiftier function just to get my car to move. Along with the gear shift not working none of the electrical components in the car worked not my indicators/hazards, my windows wont wind down so i could at least signal my intention, my wind shield wipers were non operable and my seat belt sensor does not work. It was pouring out this day and i had no visibility because my wipers would not work and could not signal to other drivers my intentions. The next day i took my car to the dealership and they concluded that the issue was related to the aftermarket auto start the previous owner had installed. So i had the auto start removed but the issue still occurs, hyundai is unsure of what is causing the problem.hyundai is suggesting a complete rewiring because they are unsure exactly what is causing the issue and claim it will not be covered under warranty because it seems to be an electrical issue, which are not covered under warranty. This will cost me upward of 7000$. I am sure this is a defect there is no way a car with less than 30,000 miles should be having such major issues.this vehicle is very unsafe for me to drive without any indicators or my gear shiftier working. When making a u-turn or pulling into parking spots it takes me twice as long because i need to have something sharp handy to push into the gear shift release button.
Shortly after i purchased the vehicle, used from carmax, the lighting on the steering wheel stopped turning on and would randomly come on while driving, usually after about 10-15 minutes and while turning. . it no longer comes on at all and none of the steering wheel buttons work anymore either, nor does my horn.
The trunk latch had been failing intermittently.i stopped at a dealership who opened the driver's door, and began locking and unlocking the electric door locks.this solved the problem at the time.i asked how playing with the locks would fix the trunk issue.the question was not answered.this solved the problem for a couple of years.however, the trunk latch finally failed permanently.i could not open the trunk via the emergency latch from the in side.i was told by the dealership that the issue was an electrical issue.hence, the door lock remidey. Multiple veloster owners have reported the same with some years being recalled.the 2013 has not been recalled and the dealership quoted 400.00 to repair this defect.i bought the car new and it now has 50,000 miles.i have had multiple safety issues with this vehicle that have been resolved but fyi-issue with abs kicking in during every single brake, even if at a red light. I brought the car to the dealership multiple times for this issue and was told it was normal.i went to another dealership and test-drove another 2013 hyundai veloster.the abs only kicked in when appropriate not with every single break.while purchasing tires after a 3rd blowout ( 30, 000 miles)the tire company noticed something wrong with the sensors to the abs.this was resolved by the tire company.it's concerning that huyndai would not acknowledge the abs issue.in fact, they don't acknowledge anything-- my gps never worked correctly which was reported to hyundai at least 10 times over a three-year period.i finally made a video of the malfunction- as soon as i submitted the videothe gps was replaced immediately.problem being the new gps was the same model as the first and does not work either.i now have a vehicle without a gps and without a trunk that opens.
The temperature control keeps melting i have read they are a lot of compliments about thisfire hazard i have replaced it 3 times but the wording harness is burnt
I have a hyundai veloster 2013. On the hwy home from work my car suddenly lost power, i was able to make it to the side of the road where it completely died. Upon initial inspection it seemed to be in part due to the battery. We replaced the battery and . Switched out the alternator to test it and took it in to the dealership where they charged us 150 to suggest factory parts in order to diagnose it. I refused and put the old alternator back on after it tested clear and hecked the fuses. The multi fuse for the alternator had blown so we replaced that (making it driveable) and brought it in to a different hyundai service dept. They didnt charge me to tell me that it had blown a rod and i needed a new engine. Hyundai is refusing to do anything however did call the sexist jerks from the originally hyundai dealership and used that interacton as basis to say my car is fine...
Ac control switch replaced 4 times and the cruze switch has wire problem
It started as some small shocks from door and steering wheel. The vehicle now shocks you from just about anywhere you stand. I did bring it to the dealer and after having for over 3 days only a oil change had been done. I asked to pick up for a appt. I had on sunday and all three pages of what was to be looked at stated work not done.i told service advisor i needed to get car fixed before i drove across country,i asked to bring it back and he said i thought you were leaving which i am but very concerned about driving any length because it gets painful if i have to turn on lights.
My wife has a 2013 hyundai veloster turbo and the hvac system has stopped functioning. After investigating the matter i discovered a manufacturer defect with the vehicle. The power wire leading to the climate control module overheated and melted the plastic connector and destroyed the climate control module. This could have started a fire. I contacted hyundai consumer affairs and hyundai customer care immediately to notify them of the issue and so that they would cover the repair costs fully. I also informed them of two other issues, one, the steering wheelcontrols are malfunctioning and two, one of the led lights in the passenger tail light is out. I received a case number from them, #15272744. I made an appointment at lancaster hyundai located on main street in east petersburg pa and dropped the car off. I also informed them of all the issues and my findings (this was yesterday 1/18/19). This morning (1/19/19) i received a call back from service advisor david corey who left me a voicemail stating that hyundai has declined to cover the repairs and telling me to come pick up the car. Since then i have contacted hyundai consumer affairs and hyundai customer care to no avail. This issue with the climate control module is well documented online and there has even been a recall for it issued by hyundai but for some reason my wife's vehicle is not included in the recall. I have uploaded photos of the damaged connector and wiring harness as well as a photo from another hyundai veloster owner which shows the recall for the climate control module. I am thankful to god that the vehicle did not catch fire since my wife and two year old son travel in it every day. I just want hyundai to do the right thing and cover the costs to repair this factory defect.
This vehicle had a serious safety issue occur around 5:00 am on july 10th; as i was driving out of my driveway (car in drive and in motion) all power failed. No lights, acceleration, power steering or brakes, etc. Which was a serious hazard especially given the darkness at that time of day. This safety issue followed multiple occasions where all the power failed when trying to enter the vehicle using the provided key fobs. These situations could also have been dangerous as on one occasion this happened while my car was in an urban parking garage in the evening. It took approximately 45 minutes- 1 hour before the power restored and i could start the vehicle. I brought it to the dealership on july 5th to remedy the power issue and the technician could find no issue - they switched out the car battery as a precaution in the event there was a hairline crack causing the intermittent power failures. As of august 27th, the vehicle was still not repaired from the july 10th incident. Dealership notified me it was replacing the entire fuse box and engine wiring harness as the diagnosed cause of the failure.
The head light bulbs have been replaced 6 times, and the 'brain' of the car has been replaced 2 times (with a refurbished ones, (not new). I understand there was a recall for make and year of my car for the software replacement because of electrical issues. I don't understand why my particular car was not listed. My car is having electrical issues!!!
My car stalled at a red light. Even though the engine was running and there were no mechanical lights on, the car wouldn't go when i pressed the gas. After turning the car off and on several times, it wouldn't move. It had to be pushed out of the street and after 20 minutes of resting, it worked again.
The knob on to the ac and heat in the vehicle burned out and doesnt work. According to main websites, this issue happens alot and continues to be an issue for many even after it's been replaced.
The climate control/fan speed selector knob melts and burns out, causing a potential fire hazard. Voltage is too high for the material they are using and thus causes it to melt and burn out.
The heating control unit knob does not set on the various settings (1-4) and does not blow heat or air correctly. Many people have had this issue and end up having to replace the unit themselves. The issue is the contacts get burned out and no longer work. This is a serious fire hazard and i dont know why a recall hasnt been issued. If you search online you will see numerous examples of what i am referring to. If i replace this myself i have to risk damaging my car or electrocuting myself and paying for an expensive part. The other option is have a mechanic do it and end up spending over 500$ for something that should not be malfunctioning. Please investigate this serious issue and do the right thing.
I am on my third control heater assembly (part number: 972502v010blh) - after several months the fan speed control breaks. It totally falls apart internally and now i see why - appears to be a heat issue. I do not feel safe in this vehicle as i could see an electrical fire starting, i have attached a photo of the connector.
Steering wheel making clunking noises when it is turned and messed up clocks ring causing the vehicles airbag light to turn on
The air/fuel mixture in the engine caused the oil to burn through faster than it should, increased pressure and caused the cylinder to damage the engine. This resulted in me having to replace the engine. The electrical system caused the vehicle to idle rough at low rpm, and eventually stalled at an intersection on a busy highway.
Tuesday the 22nd, my stereo stopped coming onstart-up. Saturday the 26th car would not start. After car was jump started, stereo came on, but car would not shift. Had to manually override shifter to drive car, at which point i discovered all electrical parts had stopped functioning, including tail lights, turn signals, power windows, etc. Dealership replaced battery and entire junction box, but issue reappeared 1 month later.
Takara recall.ac switch and wires are burnt, possible electrical fire.
The ac/heater blower switch was replaced 2 years ago and as of today i removed the switch for not working again and found the switch and box had melted and caught fire. This is a major fire hazard that has occurred to multiple people.
Smelled a burning plastic smell and later realized that setting #4 on hvac fan no longer worked.vehicle was in motion on a highway at the time.
I was driving down the highway during the winter last year approx. January and had half the miles listed above. My interior heat control was on full blast and it cut out. I tried to adjust and it would turn on if the knob was perfectly aligned....slight electrical burning smell was present. Took into dealer and they replaced the interior blower switch, the connection had scortch marks on it so they replaced the wires and connectors along with the switch/control knob. 6 months later the problem was recurring except this time i was running air conditioning as the temp outside was 36 degrees celsius outside.... This time much worse. It smelt like an electrical fire. ,,,i took the cover plate off that held the heater controls in place and the connections on it literally melted off into my hand.this is not an isolated incident, many other have the same issue with this car, and this is the second time for me. The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle stalled due to the engine overheating. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact had taken the vehicle to a dealer for an inspection and was informed that the vehicle had been making an abnormal sound and needed to be diagnosed. The contact declined. The contact linked the failure to nhtsa campaign number: 19v204000 (electrical system, engine) however, the vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was also notified of the failure and a complaint was filed. The vehicle was not repaired and remained at the dealer. The failure mileage was approximately 120,000.
Replaced the manual climate control on my 2013 hyundai veloster. The connector to the unit is melted.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 19v204000 (electrical system, engine). While driving 70 mph, the contact heard an abnormal popping and clunking noise and the vehicle stalled. Smoke emerged from the vehicle and oil was in the engine compartment. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact called lee hyundai of goldsboro (304 n oak forest rd, goldsboro, nc 27534, (866) 789-1488), but the vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 15836168, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 121,000.
4 times i have hit a pothole or a bump on the road and have had a "loud bang", the car jerks violently and then the wipers came on - one time i had the "loud bang" the car jerked violently the wipers came on and the car went into neutral.the combination of the suspension, tires and rims make this car very dangerous on roads that have any kind of potholes or bumps. Please help.
The climate control switch has been replaced multiple times. The main harness where clips in is burnt an is melting my switch out after being changed an used for few hours it then burns out. The car smells like it's melting threw the vent of plastic.
I bought my car may 2016 it had an odd smell once i started using my ac unit but couldn't figure it out. In august i lost level 1 and 2 on my blower knob, and in october 2018 i lost all heat and the blower knob no longer worked. I oreder an oem dash control unit and had a co-worker install it for me. Sept. 2019 i again lost level 1 and 2 of the fan blower. I contacted the supplier and was told this is only under warranty if it was installed at a certified shop and only if i put on 12k miles and under 1 year. I wasn't able to use my warranty due to i had my co-worker in stall. Feb 14th 2020 remote started my car as it is very cold in wi. When i got to my car i thought it was on fire due to the smell inside my car. I saw no smoke or flames. I drove home from work and the smell was horrible i had to crack the window it was so strong and drove in the slow lane in case my car burst in to flames so i could get out. Feb. 16th my while driving my car the smell of burning plastic was overwhelming and then suddenly i lost total heat and the knob for the blower no longer worked. Feb. 17th i bought another heater from the same oem online store. I brought it to work when it arrived on the 20th. The same c-worker went to install it and he said he wouldn't install it because he didn't want me to die from my car starting on fire as the cable harness connector is melted. I launched a complaint with hyundai the same day. I was given a case number and told to wait to hear back within 24 hours due to the fire issue/safety concern. I did hear from roberta from corporate and i went over the details, she said they would pay for towing and car rental. I took my car in to a hyundai dealership and am being told that i have to pay $136 because they need to rule out that it's not my remote starter causing the issue that i had installed at best buy. This is a known issue of that component melting
Faulty hvac module and wiring catching on fire
While driving in the highway i had a burn wire smell when my air conditioner was set at blower speed 4 and it stop working at that setting. I was doing dome research and found the controller has a tendency to get burn indide due to be unable to hold the blower electrical load. I think this can turn into a fire hazard. Found info in forums, youtube videos etc. Lot of people is dealing with this to the point they replace the part with an original one and the new one gets burn again. The controller pn:97250-2v010-bpd
Most of not all owners of hyundai/kia vehicles experience a short in the climate control unit. This fault not only creates a visibility issue while driving the car in adverse weather. But may also cause spark fire associated with the climate control knob.
Fan speeds for heat and a/c no longer work when the dial is placed on the number for the speed of the fan. To get speed #2 to blow, the dial is actually somewhere around position 2.5. To get speed #3 to blow, the dial needs to be at about 3.5, will not work with dial placed on the number 3 like it should. Same issue with fan speed #4. After removing dash panels to inspect, wires and electrical connections are getting so hot to the point that they melt. This is a fire hazard.
My second hvac control unit has melted. The plug is burnt. Thus is a ridiculously normal issue, you know when it fail because you smell the burning plastic before the heat shuts off.
Vehicle in park, drivers side window and passenger rear does not engage to bring down window.also 2nd incident on 10/6/2012, passenger door and window does not unlock to open from inside when vehicle placed in park. Have taken into the dealer two times to have vehicle inspected for fault. Technicians have not been able to replicate mis-function. Unsure if vehicle has a defect.
When i wash my car i like to wipe down the engine and the inner part of the front hood. About a week ago i went to wash my car open the hood only to discover a white substance (almost like white battery corrosion) running all down my fire wall cover. I made an appointment with the service department told them not to do anything to the car until they can explain to me how it happen and how are they going to fix it. About 20 minutes later the service manager calls me over and explains to me that the white substance on my firewall was when the detail people from where i purchase my car left it there. I explain to him that would be impossible since i always look at my hood and this was the first time i saw it. The service manager then turns to the two decals on the top of the hood and stated they may be water seeking in but because he did not find the firewall wet he just wiped off the white substance and told me there is nothing he can do it's just the designee of the decals. I'm not even sure it is the two decals; but one thing for sure something is allowing water to seek into my firewall and hyundai is not taking care of their customers nhtsa please help.
The ac controller quit working so i looked and the wires had burned behind the dash also melted the switch seen online it seems to be a very common issue with thiscar
Electrical issues& engine issues.2013 hyundai veloster. - purchased brand new and september 2013. Centereachhyundai dealership. Since day one iā€™ve had many issues. So iā€™m having multiple repairs and replacement of ac /heat blower, switches, resistors,-blower head unit, radio, control head ( internally shorting.recall #948 ( canister cracked).report to dealer sells of exhaust coming in car. Also had replaced right rear door actuator. July 2018 complained of transmission slipping not going into gear pulling back etc. Dealer claims no trouble calls. Once again i am having the same issues. This time driver side window goes down by itself and will not stay up, i have to manually open passenger side door lock and once again the blower does not work. Lights on my dash all lit oil light had been flickering, tire pressure light stays on and airbag light is lit. Just recently i have been driving in the car and had thought in the middle of driving that the transmission had went the car mediately pulled back and did not move i was lucky enough to have guidedit over to the side of the road. Nhtsa # 19v204000 ( hyundai recall #182) 2013 hyundai veloster - although it states fourā€¯turbo engineā€¯ only i am having the same exact problems. Letā€™s not wait until the engine goes on fire or causes a serious accident ! i am more than concerned and worried about this for i have no other transportation. I have contacted hyundai customer care service. Both emailed and called. Hyundai consumer affairs# 18383206. I had also been advised over the phone(which i am was not aware of) another recall #966 - involving a hyundai velosterā€™s 2012 -2017, as per rep. She set up an appointment with the dealership in which i go to, and also purchased the car, i asked her to please forward me a copy of the email and what she sent to the dealership, in which i am still waiting. Iā€™m hoping the dealership will take this more seriously coming from the manufacture. I will advise outcome. Thank you
Incident happened on july 21st 2017 at 1:45pm at 9701 dessau road, austin texas. I was coming around the corner at dessau and rundberg heading north and i felt the car skip a little and had some loss of power. I pulled into the parking lot at 9701 dessau and the car was smoking and the brakes went out. I pulled the emergency brake and then opened the hood, there was fire and black smoke coming out and i ran inside to get a fire extinguisher. It looked like the alternator failed and caught on fire. The fire spread under the motor cover and burned some of the hood, but i got to it quickly and minimal damage was done. I could have crashed and died.
Ive replaced the engine three time due to failure. The failure of the gdi motors is imminent. On a different note, the climate control knob heats up and burns out the metal strip behind the knob which causes the knob to eventually become useless.
Fan blower switch no longer functions on setting 1 or 2. Setting 3 and 4 work for now. A faint electrical smell was detected shortly after i changed the fan speed.
The ac/ climate control knobhas parts in it that keep melting, rendering the heat and air conditioning unable to turn on.
My car began making a whistling sound and stopped in traffic. No power just stopped.- i was driving on a feeder road at about 35mph.
The ac fan control switch on the dash melts on the back of it and causes the switch to only work on speed 1 and in some cases not at all. Now ive researched this multiple times and many many people have had the same issue that im having and some have even had their while car catch fire. So to better explain im adding a youtube link that explains what has happened.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ckrhib7xnu&feature=share
The drivers side window does not come back upthe motor engages and window stuck in open also occured on the passenger rear window
Air condition control switch located in cabin below infotainment unit. The setting of 1-4, the one most used will stop working requiring use of another number. After removing the part (twice replaced by dealership previously) found the contact points of switch melted. The wiring harness plugged into control until also melting.
The latch on the veloster seems to go out it stilll can here the motor working but will not open no other way to open the hatch from inside many people have complain online don't know exactly what is the issue causing the problem
While traveling down the road at approximately 50 mph the crank pulley fell off the motor.this prevents the alternator, water pump and ac compressor from functioning as they are belt driven.with the alternator not functioning the batter will be drained to the point of dead (depending on what accessories are on) and with the water pump not functioning the car will almost immediately overheat leaving the vehicle stranded.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that the climate control fan switch melted, which affected the fan speed. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact called duell's evansville hyundai (located at 4400 e division st, evansville, in 47715, (812) 473-4400) where it was diagnosed that the control fan switch needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 116,618.
Hello, this report is not for a particular incident, however it is widespread and should be addressed. I highly encourage you to read this article:http://www.networkworld.com/article/2871485/microsoft-subnet/hackers-could-exploit-security-holes-in-progressive-insurance-snapshot-devices.htmlthis tells of how the progressive snapshot vulnerable to hackers and transmits the data it collects unencrypted. Since the progressive snapshot is plugged directly into the obd-ii port, it has access to the vehicle's computer, which could allow a hacker to control the car.after reading this, i have opted-out of the snapshot program and therefore, my chance to get a discount. This needs to be addressed because it puts millions of people at risk.thank you
We took the car to hondai before this recall about 3 month ago left it there for 3 days they did a deep check up on the electricity since the car won't drive no results were found and the car still not working.
I bought a 2013hyundai veloster in april of 2019 with in the first 2 days of having car it stopping accelerating an left me on the side of road. I had to car towed back to the dealer where the car was bought . After them looking in to the problem they ended up replacing the catalytic converter. The car ran fine for about another 5 to 6 months. Then one day bad rough idel rpms dropping when under acceleration after putting on code reader it turned out to be a misfire i then replace coil pack and spark plugs. The veloster ran fine for about 3 to 4 months this time. Now we are back to the car having issues today 7/11/20 loss of power under acceleration, rough idel, knocking sound coming from engine. I have contacted hyundai in the past on the 2013 ecu recall they did not want to honor there recall saying in order to look in to the problem i'd need to get it diagnosed through the dealer when i can simply use my owe code reader. It has been nothing but issues with this vehicle i bought with only 63000 miles this is frustrating is there anything that can be done for hyundai to honor there recall thank you .
The speedometer and tachometer dashboard instruments are almost unreadable by persons with red-green color blindness. Approximately 5% to 10% of the male population is red-green color blind (0.5% to 1% for females).the speedometer and tachometer dials are black with white lettering and deep red needles to point at the lettering. That deep red on a black background is almost invisible. If i spend time searching, i can find the needle, but it is very unsafe to take one's eyes off the road for the length of time it takes to find the almost invisible needle. An argument of, "if you can't read the instruments, get a different car," is not reasonable because the car one is driving is not always one's own car, such as it may be an employer's car or (the way i discovered this problem) it may be a rental car, and there are many other scenarios where one did not choose the car one has to drive.since 5% to 10% of the male population has this color vision deficiency, i cannot believe that hyundai never discovered the problem, but chose styling over safety. I also suspect this problem is not limited to hyundai.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While driving 55-65 mph the vehicle backfired and stalled. The check engine warning light was illuminated. There was smoke detected from underneath the hood. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The contact called henderson hyundai (460 n boulder hwy, henderson, nv 89015 (702) 800-6127) but was not diagnosed or repaired.the contact stated that the vehicle was at the dealer several times for abnormal knocking noise in the engine. The contact stated that he was not informed of his vin being included in nhtsa campaign number:19v204000 (electrical system, engine). The manufacturer was contacted but did not assist. The failure mileage was 120,000.
Ac control knob, electrical wiring started smoking and would have caught fire if i had not turned off ac the cat could have possibly caught fire, not yet it is scheduled to be inspected 06/19/2021, no warning signals were presented the ac would only blow on lower settings at the onset of thw problem. The problem first appeared on 6/16/2021.
The problem initially started with an errant tire pressure warning when in reality i had a faulty wheel speed sensor (right front).the tire warning light would clearwhen the ignition was turned off then back on but the problem would persist and progressed to the electronic steering disabling (no steering), the speed controls not functioning (no speedometer or cruise control), the traction control disabling (no traction control),and most worrisome is that the built in keyless ignition safety systems were disabled.this meant that the keyless ignition button (postioned 2 inches from the gear shift lever!) would and did turn the car off if inadvertatnly bumped.i down shifted on the freeway from 6th to 5th at approximately 65 mph and bumped the button completely shutting off the entire car.65 mph and no control is horribly dangerous. The design is inherently flawed if a wheel speed sensor can disable the entire car at freeway speeds.
I have a hyundai veloster 2013, i noticed my brake light came on the dash on monday but went off. Tuesday morning when i was backing out the drive way my car got stuck in reverse. The car that was coming almost hit me he had to run off the road. He then got out the car and helped me get it back in to park. It took us about 15 mins to get it. I took it to the hyundai dealership they didn't even try to fix it he told me to go home and they will give me a call if they get a apt open. So on my way home my car was jerking i pulled over at the store and got stuck my car wouldn't got into park, so i was sitting there with my foot on the break for about 30 mins until i got it to park. I have called corporate office and nothing still has happened i am about to return this dang car.
Engine runs too lean to begin with. After approximately 43,000 miles, the engine failed. Dealer refused to fix due to "aftermarket spark plugs." issue began with oem plugs and aftermarket was later installed. Dealer refuses to honor warranty and frequently covers up their mistakes. Vehicle began issues on travel home from work. Cel was blinking. Car taken to dealership and was not repaired. Owner replaced spark plugs after inspection of faulty plugs. Issue occurred again and was taken to dealer. Dealer refused work due to aftermarket plugs. Closer inspection revealed a faulty exhaust valve in cylinder 3. Dealer still refused repair.
Hello,i believe there is an underlying issue with the veloster 2013 that hyundai has not addressed properly with their service campaign. I had received the service around 06/01/19 (i am not sure exactly when) and a year later have had the same exact problems this service was supposed to address. I have had engine stalls in the middle of the street near usc on a busy intersection and had to move the car by foot in fear of getting hit by another car. I've also had engine power issues that seem to have persisted. When this happened i took it into a mechanic to address the issue, their diagnosis was a bad coil pack for which they did a tune up (spark plugs, coil packs, oil filter). Shortly after the tune-up i had problems of the same misfiring issuewhere there would be no power to the engine and a slight knocking noise. I then took my car to hundai keyes mission hills to diagnose the problem this time and they said the same thing, bad coil pack. There have been known engine failures due to the ecu, and have read many anecdotal evidence that there is an issue with the ecu. I also believe this issue has caused my catalytic converter to fail prematurely as the misfires would send unburned fuel into the catalytic converter.i initially got in contact with a service manager at hyundai consumer affairs on feb 15th and he has finally called me today 03/15/19 after weeks of trying to get updates. The supervisor has deemed that this was out of warranty and that i would have to pay for it even after expressing my concerns that there might be an underlying issue that has not been resolved by the service campaign.this is a dangerous problem for other veloster owners. And i fear that my engine will fail in the future. Here is the service campaign. Report receipt date:mar 14, 2019nhtsa campaign:19v204000
While going at slow road speeds,on a city street, it threw a rod with no warning. There is only 54,000 miles on the car, we hadn't even had a chance to take it in for the recall software correction, since they just recently notified us of that. We had no warning signs, and the oil has been changed regularly, the last time being just a few weeks, before this incident. Given the number of complaints i have found, some involving vehicles with as low as 4,000 miles on them, and the lack of support from hyundai, i do not think they are fully looking into the dangers of this issue, and that they are not taking it seriously. If we had been going faster, when it happened, it would have caused a very serious accident, since the car just shut down with no warning, and all we heard was some sudden noise. The car is currently with hyundai of renton/carpros. So far, they have refused to accept these occurrences as being related to the recall issue from high pressure weakening the rods, and have refused to help people with warranty replacements. We can provide more information, and oil change documentation, and etc., upon request.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact was driving on a highway when the vehicle lost power suddenly without no warning. The contact was finally able to move over to the shoulder. The check engine light then came on and there was a burning smell. The contact checked the fluid levels and tried to restart the vehicle and it rattled. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who finally discovered there was a small fire in the engine. The fire was discovered with the hole burnt into the piston with a special camera. The manufacturer stated that there was no recalls and referred the contact to take the vehicle to a dealer. They said they may help with the repairs after a diagnosis. The contact filed a complaint and received a file number with the manufacturer. The vehicle was currently still sitting unrepaired at the contact's house. The failure mileage was 108,000.
The climate control switch has been replaced multiple times. The main harness where clips in is burnt an is melting my switch out after being changed an used for few hours it then burns out. The car smells like it's melting threw the vent of plastic.
The contact owned a 2013 hyundai veloster. While driving approximately 70 mph, the vehicle suddenly decelerated and would not properly accelerate. After stopping and exiting the vehicle, flames and smoke were present under the hood coming from the engine compartment. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. There were no police or fire reports filed. The vehicle was destroyed and towed from the scene. The cause of the failure was not determined. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. The contact researched the failure and found that it was common among other velosters of the same year. The failure mileage was approximately 124,000.
My veloster was at 73k miles when its engine was blown up. While i was driving slowly on a fast-food parking lot, i heard a loud bang, and metal clang from the hood of my car. The car lost its power and there was smoking coming out from the hood as well. So, i went to pop the hood up. There was oil splashed on the engine. I had to get the car towed to hyundai dealer to see what was going on. I was told it was a blown engine issue. I can't believe that this happened to me. I had just bought the car for 2 months from a dealer. The dealer i bought from had the car inspected and verified that it was in excellent health, and everything. I had not installed any aftermarket parts or tweaked anything on this vehicle, besides replacing a new set of tires. I really hope that hyundai will provide a remedy for this type of issue since it was basically its production fault. I would have been in a much worse situation, had i been driving on the highway or high speed. Also, i am not the one with that hyundai had left a bad taste in the mouth with its engine failure.
My 2013 hyundai veloster almost stalled at least 3 times during the past 2 months.whether i'm going up a slight incline (in california) or if accelerating after a stop.i've recently noticed that when the air conditioner and radio is on it sometimes will sputter and drop rpms and nearly stalls.i've taken it to the dealer and explained it to them.the service department claimed they couldn't duplicate the problem. [xxx] it's happened to me several times.there needs to be a recall due to all of the online similar complaints about veloster stalls!!!!nhtsa please look into all of the complaints! information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
Hyundai denied my claim for reimbursement for an engine issue.they stated that the vin is not included in the recall.however, my mechanic is the one who bought the issue to my attention.he believes this recall should also apply to this vehicle. He said he is willing to discuss the repair with any interested parties.my mechanic is auto accents located in lakewood nj.his name is nick and he can be reached at 732-905-5088. I only ask that review the attached receipt, speak with my mechanic, and consider adding this vin to the recall.
To make a very long story short, i had to get my engine replaced in late 2017 due to the engine throwing a rod. It took 3 months to repair because the dealership was behind due to other people having engine malfunctions. After my husband drove my car off the lot, my car was sounding a little funny, almost like a sucking nose that we ended up having to take back to the dealership to have them tell me that i needed to pay a diagnostic charge even though my car was well under warranty limit. I ended up speaking with the manager and he had the technician look at it to only be told it was nothing engine related even though my engine light was on! a few months after that, my car started losing power and was inoperable. I had it towed to the same dealership only to be told that i needed another engine replacement due to low pressure in one cylinder! the dealership told me that i would be responsible to pay since they already took care of it the first time. We also found out that through our advisor at the service center dealership that she has an email stating that faulty parts were used during the first engine 'repair'. Me and my husband had to leave my car at the dealership since it was not drive-able and they ended up selling the vehicle at auction for $1700 in february 2019. During the same month a recall was issued on the vehicle. I have a recall number and have spoke to 3 different departments to see what i can do to resolve the balance i have left to pay on the car of $8710. I knew there must have been an issue since the last few times i've went to the dealership there were a lot of vehicles needing engine replacements. This has been frustrating to deal with the past few years and it's affecting my credit and i need it resolved especially since this was not our faults and we were denied the use of the warranty we were paying for.
So my motor started making this ticking noise coming from the engine and i brought it to the dealership and they said i need a new motor due to the fact i just bought the not even a month from the small dealership which they don't offer warranty. I though it would still have warranty cause it still under 100k and it still under 10yrs warranty i thought they would cover it but instead it wat to the previous owner only now gonna cost me $11000 for new motor
Car issues with engine failed multiple times prior to complete stall @ 120k miles - where engine smoked and sparked at the end of stall
While driving at 65+ mph on a major highway, car suddenly lost all power. I pulled over and all lights on cluster popped on at the same time (check engine, low oil, low tire pressure, low battery, etc), and then lights turned off. There were no error codes when read with a obd scanner. Car still ran, but would not move, all power was lost. After having it towed, it was found that the catalytic converter had clogged, and for some reason did not throw an error code. This happened on a busy highway with no warning, and could have been very dangerous if i hadn't been able to pull over.
Mileage 114,000. A loud grinding and "whistle" noise began suddenly while driving in stop/go traffic. The car also started smoking and generating a very pungent smell. The noise has gotten worse. Turbo failure, $2000.00 repair. Hyundai can simply say i didn't maintain appropriate oil change records and deny any warranty repairs. Researching the issue revealed the turbo failing as a very common issue with the 2013 veloster.
The car was taken to curtis automotive in falmouth, ma for new tires. While the car was being test-driven on the highway the test-driver indicated the engine made a loud banging noise, he pulled over, the engine seized, oil was everywhere. The car was towed back to curtis automotive and then to hyundai where the carengine has always been serviced. Hyundai indicated 'the engine block cracked from piston #4' but no further diagnosis as to what caused this or why this happened. Research indicates there is no predictability for it happening, but the common factors are: it pertains to turbo charged engines, happens at lower speeds coupled with higher loads and high cylinder pressures referred to as low speed pre-ignition (lspi) where combustion occurs prematurely impacting mechanical internals of gasoline engines, evidenced with severe knocking because the pistons and connecting rods are rising when this downward combustion (bang) occurs. Worst case scenarios indicate this leads to broken piston rings, damaged ring lands and/or bent connecting rods. Further, operating at relatively low rpm and constant load such as highway cruising the engine can slip into the lspi zone where potential engine damage may occur. 2 references:http://www.velosterturbo.org/forum/veloster-turbo-discussions/9852-why-motors-keep-blowing-up.htmlhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nudb_tiijhu
To make a very long story short, i was driving to work and my car suddenly exploded and oil spewed out towards the rear. I had to get my engine replaced in late 2017 due to the engine throwing a rod. It took 3 months to repair because the dealership was behind due to other people having engine malfunctions. It took weeks to get a rental which was hectic because me and my husband both worked and commuted with a 2-year old. I had it towed to the same dealership only to be told that i needed another engine replacement! the dealership told me that i would be responsible to pay since they already took care of it the first time. The cost to repair would have been over what the value of my car is. Me and my husband had to leave my car at the dealership since it was not drive-able and they ended up selling the vehicle at auction for $1700 in february 2019.i recently just found out that my car is under recall for the same reasons it was in the shop the first 3 times. Hyundai concludes that the 2013 veloster were having engine and mechanical issues. I have a recall number and have spoke to 3 different departments to see what i can do to resolve the balance i have left to pay on the car of $8710. I knew there must have been an issue since the last few times i've went to the dealership there were a lot of vehicles needing engine replacements. This has been frustrating to deal with.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While driving 70 mph, a loud popping noise was heard. The contact noticed that a pistol failed and went through the engine. In addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was towed to coastal hyundai (915 w new haven ave, melbourne, fl 32901) where it was diagnosed that a new engine was needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and provided case number: 16332370. The failure mileage was approximately 61,000.
Vehicle hesitant to put power, stalls, loosing power when presing gas and check engine comes on, code for misfire. Changed plugs and coils still does the same issue like the one for the recall nhtsa campaign number: 19v204000 but my vin is not under the list!
Hard to start, concerned about engine damage check engine light illuminated with code that gives false indication because i have replaced the alleged component many times.
While driving approximately 55 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and would not restart. The vehicle was towed to webb hyundai merrillville (1000 81st ave, merrillville, in 46410, (219) 736-2277) where it was diagnosed that the turbo was damaged. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 109,111.
The engine rods are knocking, even though i've kept oil in the car. And had regular oil changes. The engine oil always has to be filled after a couple weeks eventhough there is no oil leaks.now the motor has to be replaced. There are multiple recalls on the same thing for this car just not on mine specifically. Noticed it today when i turned the car on and heard the knocking noise.this car company has a history of this same issue on multiple cars
Brakeslose of brake pressure when bumps are hit. Reapply brakes to regain pressureengineburning oil issues and overheating issues. This has resulted in my 1.6 l having engine failure and it is not on the recall list as the 2.0's and up are.being that they are the same motor other than the size of pistons and turbo confuses me
While driving, car transmission disengaged, even though engine running. Instrument tach read 0, instruments panel seemed dead. Able to restart engine twice but unable to move. Exited car and locked, waited 30 secs. Able to restart car again then drive. Has happened twice within 5 miles of home.
Received nhtsa recall #: 19v-204,hyundai recall #: 182 6 months after my engine threw a rod/cylinder leaving the vehicle inoperable. I was driving my car and it began shaking uncontrollably while driving to work on the interstate in atlanta.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that there was a loud noise coming from the engine compartment as the vehicle stalled. The vehicle had been serviced under nhtsa campaign number: 19v204000 (electrical system, engine) prior to the failure. The contact stated that there was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to larry h. Miller hyundai albuquerque (9820 coors blvd nw, albuquerque, nm 87114) where it was diagnosed with the engine needing to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 97,379.
Had car for around a year and have had nothing but issues with shakes suspension and as of recent a rod threw through my engine wall through my oil compartment. I keep up with the maintenance of the car regularly and for something so huge of that nature to happen is bizarre. Apparently hundreds of millions of hyundais have been recalled due to engine failure (rods being thrown). I'm having the same issue as many other drivers with no resolution. I've reached out hyundai multiple times to have them inspect the vehicle and have even had them just drive it around because you can tell right away this car drives funny. They only responded with well it's just the type of car. Well i would have never bought this car if i knew i would be having this many issues. This car is unsafe and needs to have the engine problems recalled along with the suspension when it jumps out of line. I feel like the shakey suspension when hitting a small bump and every other problem has been leading up to throwing the rod. I'm so disappointed and will be filling legal action if this does not get resolved in my favor. As i have no other choice.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that the engine performed roughly and there was reduced engine power. In addition, the check engine indicator flashed. The vehicle stalled several times and was unable to restart immediately. The vehicle finally restarted and was taken to jenkins hyundai of leesburg (9145 us-441, leesburg, fl 34788, (352) 815-2516). The dealer was unable to determine the cause of the engine stalling and stated that the vehicle was not included in a warranty campaign. The vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 19v204000 (electrical system, engine); although, the failure was similar. The dealer provided an extensive diagnosis and determined that the entire engine, turbo, radiator assembly, pump assembly and other unknown repairs were needed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer provided a case number and was to follow-up with the dealer and contact. The approximate failure mileage was 56,000.
27k miles and the engine blew. All services and maintenance have been done on time. Full synthetic oil change every 3k miles. Never abused or beat on.left a stop light, normal cruising then smoke, grinding noises and loud clunking.engine leaked out coolant and oil. Engine block is split.
I have a 2013, hyundai veloster. I was driving approximately 65 mph when a loud banging noise started and the car started to turn off with engine light flashing. I could hear something banging around inside the front of the car and then the black smoke started under the hood/exhaust system. I was able to pull car off of road and have it towed to hyundai worldcar in live oak tx. Theywant to charge me $5000 for a used engine and that quote includes the labor cost. Hyundai also contacted and i reported incident (dealership did not contact hyundai to report) with case # 16766796. My car had approximately 126,000 miles on it and had no indications of anything wrong. It was a terrifying situation and so unexpected, plus i had also just made my last car payment, so now i own acar with no working engine and i am being made to pay for it even though worldcar advertises a lifetime powertrain warranty, i am the only owner for the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the speed decreased and smoke was emerging from the tail pipe, engine and the vehicle stalled. There was an abnormal humming noise emerging from the vehicle. There were no warning lights illuminated.the local dealer was not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage 75,586.
Engine cylinder misfires . Even after changing spark plugs and coil packs. Especially when eco mode is off(in montion, accelerating) .when traction control cuts power seems to also attribute to misfiring and which has lead to unsettling idle.
Experienced rough driving and engine rattling while driving above 40 miles.engine misfiring cylinder coil number 4 failed on 07/19/2018 and 5 months later cylinder coil # 3 failed. Dealer replaced both at no cost
The 2013 hyundai veloster i purchased has had an issue where the car emits a sulfur like smell when accelerating. The safety risk is a faulty engine, and possible exposure to dangerous emissions. Upon seeing the check engine light appear, i took it to the hyundai dealer for a diagnostic. Hyundai informed me that the codes read p0420 and p0463. They recommended replacing and catalytic converter and fuel sensor but did not assess why the issues have occurred. They refused to cover under warranty, even though i had purchased an extended warranty with the vehicle. The check engine light then turned off soon after the diagnostic and ran ok other than the smell. The car has been regularly maintained at jiffy lube for each needed oil changes and service. Jiffy lube explained to me that the vehicle has been low on oil numerous times since the issue started, despite the oil light not illuminated on the vehicle. Upon further inspection at a different hyundai dealer when the check engine light turned back on, it was explained to me that the vehicles 3rd cylinder is not functioning correctly and that i would have to replace the engine. Hyundai refused to cover the issue for the catalytic converter, fuel sensor, and engine. I suspect the failure of catalytic converter and fuel sensor to be related to the engine, despite the information presented and the service centers. I feel that hyundai has put my safety in jeopardy by refusing to cover this issue despite my purchase of a warranty that covers engine problems. Included with submission are the records for maintenance, the original diagnostic, and the second diagnostic. The main cause is still unknown after paying for the diagnostic, the dealer did not provide a definitive explanation. Kkb flagged a very similar model, same year, make and engine size with ref. 19v204000 for engine related issues caused by a software issue.
Connecting rod failure. A test was ran on my car and this code came up even though my check engine light was off. There is a rattling when accelerating and a decrease in speed when accelerating. The rattling began a little less than a year ago so i took it to a shop but they said it couldnā€™t be fixed because the engine is enclosed. Basically to fix this issue i would need an entire new engine and it is already causing major issues on my vehicle. This is a safety issue because the engine could just fail.
2013 hyundai had a check engine light pop on so we took our vehicle to hyundai dealer in douglas county georgia. We were asked some round about questions that made us seem suspicious of a pre diagnosis for the car. Once sitting for 3 plus hours we were told it was a catalyst issue.we had the catalytic converter changes just last friday. Its wednesday and the check engine light is on again with additional sounds coming from the engine now.
To whom it may concern, my 2013 hyundai veloster started having issues on 5/14/19 so i scheduled a service appointment for 5/16 at murdock hyundai.during my service visit i was notified by the service department that there was a recall (#182) on my car but they currently did not have a fix from hyundai at that time. My car was parked from 5/16/19 to 6/3/19 when i was finally able to take it back to murdock hyundai to have the recall issue fixed. The service department updated the defective software and my car drove perfectly. The next day while driving my car home from work it started having the same issues as it did before the update. I contacted the dealership and the soonest they could get me back in was 6/7/19 so again i was not able to drive my car.the service department inspected the vehicle and determined that my fuel injector and spark plug/coils were damaged and need replacement.on 6/11/19 i spoke with a gentleman named sean at the national consumer affairs for hyundai regarding the repairs needed and i was told that i would receive a call back after he reached out to the service department and i have not heard anything back. I sent him a follow up email on 6/18/19 and still no response. It has been over 30 days since this issue began and it's still not resolved. I work full time and have been relying on public transportation because i am not able to drive my vehicle without causing further damage. I don't believe that the recall update fixed the problem and has caused damage to my vehicle.any assistance you can provide in resolving this would be greatly appreciated.
Driver turned right from a stop sign onto a highway and began accelerating to 55 m.p.h when driver reached approximately 35 m.p.h, he heard a loud bang in the engine compartment at which point the vehicle lost power.the vehicle was still running but the driver could not accelerate or throttle.the driver pulled off to the side of the road when the driver noticed white smoke accumulating and the smell of coolant or antifreeze coming into the interior of the vehicle.the smoke was coming from the engine compartment and became darker in color. The engine then went up in flames.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that he had just purchased the vehicle from a third party and the engine seized and blow while driving on the freeway on cruse control at 80 mph. The contact stated that his friends behind in another vehicle saw a metal part flew out from the bottom of the vehicle with spark. The contact was able to safely coast to the side of the road and stated by the time he had costed to the side of the road; the fire had gone out. No warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the vehicle was towed to the his dad's residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or an independent mechanic for a diagnostic testing. The vin was part of nhtsa campaign number: 19v204000 (electrical system, engine). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 95,000.
Vehicle slips out of gear often.dealership cannot duplicate problem, and one dealer dismissed my complaint.happens after accelerating from a stop when shifting from 1-2 but has happened when shifting 2-3 and it slips out and engine revs, disengaged from wheels (as if in neutral).this is when using it in normal mode, not sport or manual shift.there are numerous other complaints online in various forums (not yet on nhsta site it seems)this is very unsafe in traffic as the driver must stop accelerating, shift car into n and then back to drive to get it to work again.
I purchased the car on march 29, 2019 with 74,999 miles on it.i drove it for approximately 4,100 miles and had it serviced with synthetic oil at the dealership i purchased the vehicle.my next service date was set for 85,500 miles. Approaching my next service date, i heard a knocking sound coming from my engine and experienced a sudden loss of power while driving.i was driving on a straight on a suburban road, and had to pull off immediately.if i had been going faster, or had not had a spot to pull over it would have been a worse situation.the car had 85,570 miles on it at the time of the incident.i then took it directly to the closest certified hyundai dealer where i found recall 182 was open on my vehicle.this recall describes potential pre-ignition that can lead to excessive cylinder pressure in these engines.when the service department diagnosed my vehicle, they said there was sever lower engine bearing damage leading to engine failure and that it needed to be replaced.since there was an open recall on my engine, i assumed this would be done by the manufacturer, but they claimed that the damage was not due to the recall.every document i saw describing safety recall 182 describes it causing pre-ignition and excessive cylinder pressure.from what i know about engines and have researched from others, excessive cylinder pressure causes shock waves that are seen to us as engine knocking.engine knocking if left unchecked, can cause severe engine damage.i don't see how hyundai can make a claim that recall 182 is not the direct cause of my engine failure.they acknowledge the potential for damage in their statement.they are not doing enough to ammend this recall.
It was being drove down the road stalled and started blowing smoke out of the tail pipes so bad that you couldn't see anything behind you.
Driving down the highway it sounded like something flew under my car and suddenly started smoking and a flame came out. There was loud banging under the hood: like a boom. We pulled to the side of the highway before it completely died and it caught sparks. We do not have any photos since this happened in the middle of the night.
Engine blew with 116k i barely drove this car about 6 minute daily
We took the car to hondai before this recall about 3 month ago left it there for 3 days they did a deep check up on the electricity since the car won't drive no results were found and the car still not working.
With no warning, at low speed, having travelled only a quarter of a mile fromthe previous location where it had been parked for a couple of hours, the engine locked up in the middle of a busy highway, throwing a rod and multiple chunks of metal, and pouring oil onto the highway. This vehicle had been well-maintained, and had low mileage for its age. If this had happened after the motor really had a chance to heat up, there could have also been a fire. Debris from all of the parts flying out from underneath the car could have also caused injury.
The contact son owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, when a by stander driver on the passenger side informed his vehicle was on fire. The contact stated multiple warning light were illuminated. The contact stated he was able to park on the side of the road and called 911. The contact stated the police showed up called the fire department. The fire department extinguished the fire but did not file any reports. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to local dealer dennis automotive located at 2900 morse road, columbus, oh 43231, were made aware of the failure. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or been repaired as of yet. Upon investigation the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 19v204000 (electrical system, engine). The manufacturer had been informed of failure. The failure mileage was 73,000.*ln
I was driving down the street and the engine just started smoking. I was able to pull over and i got it towed to the mechanic and they said it was due to too much pressure on the cylinders that caused the engine to blow.. Apparently this is a recall now.. Recall 182. I can no longer move the car because the engine is blown as well as its about $5000 to fix..
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle lost power and smoke appeared from the rear of the vehicle. The contact heard an abnormal grinding noise coming from the front of the vehicle as if pieces of the engine were falling out of the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and a large hole was found in the engine block. The vehicle was towed to webb highland hyundai (9236 south indianapolis blvd, highland, in 46322, (219) 923-2277) where the vehicle was awaiting service. The contact had not received word on the diagnosis due to the upcoming holiday weekend. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 75,000.
Engine is consuming too much oil. Less than 1100 miles into driving with a fresh tank of oil it is empty. We've done this now 3 times in the past 6 months. Mechanic says it is not a good sign and to bring it into hyundai.
My car began making a whistling sound and stopped in traffic. No power just stopped.- i was driving on a feeder road at about 35mph.
Engine is burning up oil. No visible leaks. Have taken it to dealership twice but i'm adding more than a quart each month.
I have had a check engine light come off and on intermittently and my mechanic has been unable to determine the problem. Now i have taken it in for an oil change and the car will not restart. Check engine light is on and flashing several codes. Appears to be some type of damage to the engine . There is a recall on certain models equipped with 1.6 turbo engine. Recall number 182. I have never received any notification of this recall.
The oxygen sensor failed to open, causing catalytic converter to clog ruining exhaust manifold. Repair was made then little more than month later engine failed again this time with cylinder 3 full of oil and result is ruined engine with no sign to where the fail came besides software or manufacturer internal engine issue
Engine knocking . Using a lot of oil but not leaking
57,xxx miles. Was driving on highway approximately 70mph, all of a sudden engine lost power and check light engine came on. Immediately pulled over and listened to car. Loud engine knocking noise. Not sure exactly what is wrong but calling dealership. Took to local mechanic who said they will have to tear down engine to specifically identify problem. Sounds like a common problem, and now with the recall, sounds even more like a problem.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated while her husband was driving approximately 20-25 mph, he heard an abnormally loud sound coming from the vehicle. The vehicle started to shake with the check engine warning light illuminated. The contact stated her husband was able to pull to the side of the road, where he noticed that smoke was coming from under the hood. Additionally, there was oil leaking from the engine. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic, who diagnosed that there was a large hole in the cylinder block. The fire was started due to a mixture of fuel and oil. The contact was informed by the mechanic that the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 19v204000 (electrical system, engine) however, the recall repair was already completed on the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to the dealer who diagnosed that the failure was not related to the recall. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that she was responsible for the cost of repair since the vehicle was out of warranty. The approximate failure mileage was 69,204.
Ive replaced the engine three time due to failure. The failure of the gdi motors is imminent. On a different note, the climate control knob heats up and burns out the metal strip behind the knob which causes the knob to eventually become useless.
I was driving my 2013 hyundai veloster turbo on a small road, as i pulled away from a stop sign i heard loud metallic grinding and scraping sounds, the vehicle lost power and i immediately pulled to the side of the road and turned the vehicle off.checked under the vehicle and found oil spraying from the engine block.vehicle was found to have a blown rod and a hold in the engine block and was towed to sussman hyundai of willow grove pa where i was informed of recall 19v-204 #182.i was told by the service department that the vehicle needed a new engine due to the blown rod that left a hole in the engine block and it was likely that it would be covered under the recall.the vehicle stayed at the dealership for over a week while pictures were taken and sent to hyundai corp, hyundai declined to assist with the issue saying the vehicle was out of warranty. I contacted hyundai motor america for further assistance, i was told to leave the vehicle at the dealership and was given case #15862961 hyundai motor america has been very unresponsive.it's been over 3 weeks without any official notice.i was lucky that this issue didn't happen at higher speeds, i easily could've been hurt or killed due to the engine malfunction.vehicle had 89k miles when the issue occurred.
On december 18 2018, i brought my car to the allen turner hyundai in pensacola, fl. For an oilchange and a check engine light issue. It is now january 26 2019. During the time they have had the car, they first diagnosed a blown head gasket. After repairing that, they determined that the engine had a cracked block. The car has less than 58,00 miles on it. Doing research, i've discovered that this engine is prone to catastrophic engine failures that hyundai refuses to acknowledge. I even called and e mailed hyundai usa for help, to no avail. The manufacturer warrantee timed out, but i purchased an after market warrantee from rout 66 in arkansas.. Unfortunately, due to the reporting of issue to the warrantee company by allen turner hyundai, the warrantee company will not cover the repairs.
'takata recall' my veloster has been stalling since i leased it there's always a problem when speeding up and has been taken to the dealership for service more than 3 times for the same problem and has been out of service for more than 35 days this has happened to me on highway, stationary and on streets it's u just that i have to pay for a vehicle like this when i should be getting my moneys worth
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While the contact's son was driving 60 mph, the vehicle shook violently. Additionally, oil and smoke emerged from the engine compartment. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to columbia hyundai (10981 montgomery rd, cincinnati, oh 45249, (513) 878-1980) where it was diagnosed that the connecting rod block was damaged and the engine needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The contact stated that the failure was similar to nhtsa campaign number: 19v204000 (electrical system, engine). The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 15648836. No further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 64,802.
As i was driving my 2013 hyundai veloster turbo home from work on 10/16/18, i pulled onto the freeway on ramp and began accelerating.i felt a large shudder/vibration, heard a loud metallic bang, and saw smoke begin pouring out from under the hood at about the same time.i immediately pulled over, shut the engine off, got out of the vehicle, and popped the hood.smoke began pouring out from the engine bay.i observed that a mixture of oil and antifreeze had sprayed on many of the engine components and was streaming off the engine onto the pavement.i looked under and behind the car and found internal engine components such as pieces of the engine block, piston, wrist pin, etc.i also was able to look under the car and noticed that there was a large hole in the engine block where an internal components had shot out of the engine and the oil filter housing was snapped off of the engine block and dangling by the oil line.after researching the issue on the internet forums, i found that catastrophic engine failure was very common for 2013 hyundai veloster turbo cars.the failures often involved internal engine pieces blowing out of the engine, destroying the engine, and spraying the engine and ground down with oil and antifreeze.i found reports of approximately 20+ of these engine failures on this particular forum (velosterturbo.org), but to my knowledge there has not been a recall by hyundai for this issue.i recommend that the nhtsa open up an investigation into this issue as this common catastrophic engine failure can have severe safety consequences due to internal engine components being ejected from the engine at high speed, engines catastrophically failing and causing the engine to lose power immediately while the vehicle is being driven, and the risk of fire due to hot components being doused in oil.
2013 veloster non turbo, stalls while driving. When starting vehicle, shifter moves but transmission does not engage. Car must be shut off and restarted after a short period and car will go into gear. This issue has been sporadic, the vehicle is unreliable and the stalling is extremely dangerous. A similar stalling issue recall for the 2013 veloster turbo model was issued in 2019. This may be a similar issue and should be extended for all 2013 veloster models. Dealership has checked the vehicle an has stated that no codes were found in the history so they could not resolve this issue.
The manufacturer was contacted and provided case number: 15836168, but no further assistance was provided. The failure mileage was 121,000.
Engine failure at low load, 84k miles. Probably related to previous recall which didn't fix it
The engine light came on 2 weeks earlier took car in and they claim they made an adjustment and i was also told might happen again and the would need to replace valve 4 or cylinder 4 not sure whichthen i was driving home down the block from my house engine light came on and then major noise in engine and all lights came on engine shut off had to push car home... Had towed to dealer next day they told me rod went thru the rengine and needed a new engine. The dealer has had my car now for 6 weeks and they cannot tell me when it will be repaired (prefer to be replaced) i am not a happy camper at all.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While operating the vehicle, the speed suddenly decreased and the vehicle failed to accelerate properly. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the engine was faulty due to low pressure in one cylinder. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer and local dealer were not notified. The failure mileage was 91,000.
While driving the car on the highway engine suddenly died. Oil light flickered on and engine made loud knocking noises. Towed car home. Engine makes knocking noise upon acceleration and oil light flickers on. Towed to two different shops was told there was bottom engine damage. Engine will need to be replaced. Quoted $5000. Mileage 122,000. Oil was full. It is not only the turbo engines having this problem. Clearly this issue needs to be addressed.
There is coolant leaking into the engine. When i turn the car on and drive when i come to a complete stop the car turns completely off.
Lag upon acceleration. Multiple cylinder misfires. All replaced and continue to misfire.to much oil being expelled through exhaust, regular oil change records and drive efficiency.potentially ruining turbo as well as motor. Depleting mpg.
Stopped at a red light waiting for green.when green was up, i started to travel down the next road and there was a huge banging noise and my check engine light was on and the car engine stopped.there was smoke coming from the hood and pieces of metal banging from underneath the car and oil spewing out from behind me while i rolled to a stop.after stopping, i powered off the car due to smoke starting in the hood, opened up the hood and put out the small fire that started.upon further examination, there was a hole in the side of my engine block.the driver behind me pulled over to help me out and we recovered pieces of metal being engine block, broken in half piston rod, piston rod pipe that connects to the engine rod, and a few other pieces of metal.i was less than 100 feet away from the stop when i started traveling.and less than 2 miles from where i left when i started driving.it was a residential street with a top mph of 40 mph.i wasn't even going above 15 mph when it blew.i was making a left turn onto the intersecting street when it broke loose.
Engine blownat 125000, in motion while accelerating uphill
I have had to replace the turbo and radiator. I have replaced the coil packs and spark plugs 3 times since i received the car and now the transmission is acting up. I bought the car dec 2020 and it has left me stranded on the side of the road 4 times already from the engine malfunctioning.
When stoppibg or coming to full complete stop car seems to feel like it is goibg to stall out and kind of shimmery and shakes a little right before stopping also when starting from a complete stop it alot of the time feels like it is going to stall out as well. There is alot of engine noise as well that does not seem like it is a good thing.
Het leaking oil to the exhaust manifold , can cause fireead gask
The contact owned a 2013 hyundai veloster. While at a stop and depressing the accelerator pedal, an explosion was heard coming from the engine. The check engine warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was able to coast to the side of the road. The contact noticed black smoke underneath the hood and from both front tires. In addition, the contact stated that the engine burst into flames. The fire department extinguished the fire. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer or independent mechanic for diagnostic testing or repairs. The vehicle was destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and opened case number: 11082662. The approximate failure mileage was 82,000.
I have a 2013 hyundai veloster turbo with a 1.6 liter turbo engine that threw a rod thru the engine block.hyundai issuedrecalls on the sonata and they have been replacing defective 1.6 liter turbo engines for some velosters and not others that are having identical problems.they should have to recall all of them.i had a ticking sound for approximately one month and it sounded like a liftertick.after doing a lot of online research everyone said to continue driving it because it was carbon build up on the intake valves .i am an ase master tech with over 40 years experience and i have never heard a rod make a ticking sound like this.there are lots of complaints on line concerning this issue and hyundai has not recognized them.yes they do offer a 10 year 100,000 mile warranty to the original purchaser and only a 5 year 60,000 mile warranty to the second owner.i had to have the standard transmission replaced at approximately 28,000 miles by hyundai for a design flaw in the transmission case causing the seal to leak, but they will not do anything about the engine because i am the second owner. If i was the original owner they would replace it.i have changed my oil and filter every 3 to 4,000 miles and my car is pampered by me .when it threw the rod i was pulling from a stop sigh at less than 5 mph and less than 1,000 rpms and it died as i was turning onto the highway.
Engine failure
After coming from work i noticed that my car was shaking and when i accelerated it felt like it was struggling. Next morning i turn on the car and it does the same. While the car remains on i open the hood and i remove the engine cover. I notice that the wiring in the engine harness is partially destroyed and sparking. Some parts start to ignite and i quickly turn off the carand put out the small little flames. If i hadn't noticed i would of caught on fire. My 2013 hyundai velosteronly has 30,000 miles. This is crazy. I went to the dealership and they told me that my pictures look like the hyundai santa fe's engine car fires!
While driving at highway speed the engine lost power and would not accelerate. Took the car to the dealer. Dealer inspected and found the catalytic converter was plugged again. The previous failure (separate report) in june 2019 caused the engine to fail. The vehicle had a new short block installed along with the catalytic converter. With 9000 miles on the new short block and cat, the cat is plugged again and the enginehas a distinctive ticking sound that was present when the engine failed the last time. Hyundai has an issue that needs to be addressed. The vehicle is serviced at recommended intervals or before. We use standard gasoline with no aftermarket additives.
I was sitting in my car and all of a sudden my cars check engine light came on and then i died. I waiting a couple of minutes and then tried starting it again but it started slightly and then died again. This has happened to me in the pass. The last time this happened my car had to get a new engine installed.
The contact owned a 2013 hyundai veloster. While the contact's daughter was driving approximately 60 mph, thick black smoke emerged from the engine compartment. The contact pulled over to the side of the road and exited the vehicle before it became engulfed in flames. The police was present, but not the fire department. There were no injuries. The insurance company deemed the vehicle destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and sent a third party to conduct an investigation. The results were not disclosed to the contact. The dealer was not contacted. The contact stated that there were no recalls for her vehicle; however, the turbo model was under recall. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While driving approximately 30 mph, the temperature warning indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact stated that the vehicle started to overheat and smoke appeared under the hood. The vehicle was taken to dublin hyundai (located at 6015 scarlett ct, dublin, ca 94568, (925) 803-7700) to be diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be determined. However, the cooling fan was replaced. The contact stated that the cooling fan was inoperable. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 101,000.
The car stalls in the middle of traffic.as i come to a red light, or try to accelerate when a light turns green the car stalls. Takes a few restarts / a few minutes to work again. But then happens soon after. It has been happening for a few days now and i thought it would be a one off situation.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While driving approximately 65 mph, the vehicle started to lose power and acceleration. In addition, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The following day, the contact drove to the dealer (university hyundai in decator, alabama) where the vehicle was kept for one and a half months without rendering a diagnosis. The contact was provided with a rental vehicle in the interim; however, the dealer was currently requesting payment in full for the rental vehicle before releasing the contact's vehicle. The contact also stated that the vehicle was repaired per a recall for the fuel line that, in turn, damaged other parts of the engine that were not covered by the recall. The manufacturer was notified of the failures. The recall details were not provided. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000.
Vehicle start having a loud noise coming from the engine. It has always has hilt he oil check on time. Never run hard.
Driving on interstate, all lights flashed on, engine light remained on and my car stalled and would not accelerate. I had to take it out of drive, put it in sport mode and then back to drive. It would shake violently if i went above 45 miles an hour, i was 130 miles from home. This is not first time this has happened, have made previous complaints
On five separate occasions the vehicle engine has shut off completely while driving in traffic.fortunately my wife was able to coast to the side of the road, but in all instances a serious road hazard and danger to safety for both us as well as the public was created.we are now no longer driving the vehicle out of fear of our safety.we have contacted the hyundai dealership where all the prior 4+ years of service has been done, as well as hyundai usa.both have said they will not investigate. After the first two occurrences, i was told the original engine needed to be replaced due to metal shavings in the internal components.this is the exact same reason for the recent global recall, however hyundai said our model was not covered under the warranty even though it was the same issue.we had the hyundai dealership replace the engine and within one month it happened again.thistime they said the catalytic converter/exhaust manifold had failed again (this was the third catalytic converter).since then, the engine has shut off two more times while driving.a local certified mechanic has inspected it and said he has seen several similar problems with other hyundai vehicles.hyundai usa refuses to address the issue.
My dtr's 2013 hyundai veloster went up in flames quickly after starting to smoke from front of engine on 4-14-19.driving conditions were ideal and she was driving around 65 m/h or hwy 17, getting close to 280.we had just bought the car from hyundai dealer in fremont a few months prior.
During a normal drive from work, the car hesitated to accelerate from sitting at the red streetlight and white smoke began to come out of the exhaust pipe. There was no sign of car trouble,no engine light indicator nor any kind of acknowledgment that there was a problem with the car. I immediately coast to the nearest parking lot which was a holiday express hotel. I then called usaa and requested tow service to have towed to south towne hyundai of riverdale, ga. On monday august 12, 2019. I explained to the service representative of my issue. He called tuesday morning and asked again what exactly was the issue in which i explained again. He never heard from the service representative again. I called tuesday later that evening, left a message and no call back. On wednesday, i called left a message with the service manager to give me a call and no one called. I went up to south towne dealership in which i waitedand until i asked a lady who sat in an office next to the parts department for help. She went to the automotivegarage came back and said they took the oil pan offsaw shavings and noted it was a bad engine and the cost was $2500.00 for the engine plus labor which would be around $5000 to $6000 dollars. I was shocked because i just purchased the vehicle less than a month ago and had not driving the car 1000 miles. I ask if additional test were performed she said no because the took the oil pan off first. There were no diagnostic reading, no oil check, no throttle cable check performed. I am lost because numerous cars are having the same engine issue and there was a recall for 2013 hyundai veloster turbo engine early this year however not for the non-turbo which is extremely unfair because of the shavings from the pistons which is not an oil change issue nor is it an owner maintenance issue and there were no warnings or sign of trouble.
My son was driving his car when it lost all power and engine braked. We had it towed to hyundai where they told us it was the catalytic converter. A week later the car did it again, this time on a busy road and my son was lucky to have been able to pull over and not get hit. This time hyundai said it needed a new engine. Hyundai covered the engine but made me pay all the labor. Not happy, but if it makes the car safe again then i did it. It took 6 weeks to get the new engine. Got the car back, great. 2 mi this go by and the car did it again. This time the car started back up. We drove the car to hyundai and they said there is no problem and no fix. Could not let my child drive the car any longer (if this happened on a freeway going 60 mph he would be killed). We got rid of the car the next day. Would love this to be an obvious recall (like their other engines and the turbo engine in this exact car). I would like my $$ back!!
Thank you
My 2013 hyundai veloster was under a recall in june last year for an engine problem that could result, if not fixed, in serious engine failure and damage while operating. I took the car to my local hyundai dealership to fix the problem, but on 9/10/20 while driving on interstate 26 near columbia, sc, the car's speed suddenly dropped to no more than about 40 mph and wouldn't go any faster. That put me in extreme danger of getting struck from the rear by other faster-moving vehicles, so i rode the next approximately 5 miles on interstate shoulders to avoid danger. I was eventually able to drive the car that day to a repair shop in columbia, which determined that my car sustained serious engine failure and damage, and believed it was directly related to the 2019 recall, attaching a recall notice to the repair invoice. I called my local hyundai dealership but was informed my car was not presently under recall. The bottom line is that the dealership either didn't do the 2019 repair at all or improperly did it, or more seriously for the thousands of other drivers nationwide of similar hyundai velosters, the software fix offered by hyundai was not adequate, putting their lives in danger if their engines suffer serious engine failure and damage while traveling at high speeds. In my case, because the engine was ruined, i sold the car to a local junkyard. I've attached documentation verifying everything i've written. The 2019 documentation is under my wife's name; my name is on the latest records.
My car is under open recall with hyundai compaign # recall 182 or nhtsa recall #19v204000 . I have engine damage in cylinder number 2 which isdue to the mix of air andfuel and hyundai refuse to cover my engine under this recall even they put safety risk of this recall is :engine damage can increase the risk of a fire or cause an engine stall, increasing the risk of a crash. So hyundai want to doonlysoftware updateto prevent the safety risk but it is to late for my case since the risk or the damage is already happened to my car and they refuse to coverthe bad engine that i have now .note: the mileage of my caris 42000 miles. That is the information provided by the hyundai for this recall.https://autoservice.hyundaiusa.com/campaignhome/campaign/index.
2013 hyundai veloster non turbo 39,000 miles catalytic converter failure and engine failure while driving.while driving the vehicle on a rural road, the engine shut down and the car lost power. I noticed smoke from the exhaust when the engine shut down.i was able to pull the vehicle to the side of the road. Vehicle was towed to dealer where it was found the catalytic converter had failed. It was noted that the engine had a loud ticking sound that it did not have prior to the catalytic converter failure. The engine is going to be replaced with cost share from hyundai. This is not a unique issue and has been recalled for the same exact same issue in the kia soul with the 1.6l engine. This issue should be addressed in full by the manufacturer.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated while driving 15 mph, there was an abnormal sound coming from the engine compartment. The contact pulled over to inspect the vehicle and became aware that the intake manifold was fractured into two pieces. The vehicle was driven to the residence. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. The manufacturer was not informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 98,931.
The 2013 hyundai veloster turbo has a torsion beam rear suspension that when combined with the factory 18" wheels and stock kumho solus tires gives the car very unpredictable and dangerous handling characteristics over bumps where the rear of the car feels like it is "stepping out." after talking to 5 hyundai dealerships and having them perform various alignment attempts and technical service bulletins for road force balancing to improve the problem, it was still not corrected and nearly resulted in numerous crashes in the 1st year off ownership. After so many attempts to fix the issue and not having it resolved and seeing numerous other reports of it on forums and other review sites, i am convinced that there is a concerted effort to hide the problem and have made the difficult decision to file this complaint. Even the hyundai service manager who most recently drove my car said "i felt it and i don't know what to do about it."this was after the factory technician at the same dealership felt the issue and said "it is a very light car so it will just do that" and when i replied that a same year volkswagen jetta with the same rear suspension design did nothing of the sort and even another model in the hyundai line (elantra) did not have the same issue, he didn't reply. Most dangerous of all is if a rear tire becomes deflated at all on a snowy or icy surface. In my situation an left rear tire went down a few pounds and the car swerved much more wildly than most other cars would a little low on air. I went a year without letting anyone else drive the car out of safety concerns until i finally put winter tires on it in 2014 in a 17" size and felt an immediate resolution to the issue (so far) with both improved grip and over the road/ bump response. The factory low beams are dangerously dim also, again numerous complaints at numerous hyundai dealer(s) ignored.
We started to notice our radio reception was going in and out. We took it to the dealership and they said they fixed the problem. The problem was never fixed and we took it back again and the mechanic said they ran a test and it passed "hyundai" requirements and there is nothing they can do. So we are stuck with a radio that has poor reception and stations cross each other, its a nightmare! what a car without the radio?
Stereo speaker system keeps coming loose from, harness, repaired, broken again.was told by dealer recall issue. Both headlights and factory installed fog lights have repeatedly gone out, costing several hundred dollars to repair. Paint is chipping off vehicle in several places, has been since approx 6 months after buying car and told by dealer there is nothing wrong with paint, although chipping in straight line
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster turbo. The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, the low beam headlights only illuminated approximately 65-70 feet and the contact was unable to have a clear view of the roadway. In addition, the contact mentioned that there was a solid black horizon that came from the headlights. The vehicle was taken to the dealer and the technician diagnosed that there were no failures with the vehicle. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vehicle was not included in any recalls. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure and current mileage was 4,000. Updated 2/13/13the consumer stated the cost to correct the problem was $900 updated 02/14/13
The knob on to the ac and heat in the vehicle burned out and doesnt work. According to main websites, this issue happens alot and continues to be an issue for many even after it's been replaced.

Forward collision warning don't work at all, and clicking sound come from the front when press the gas pedal when i press the brake, when i turn left or right, that's sound is constantly all time, i see a lot of post and same car with this problem and hyundai don't do nothing about this, i send the car to replace the cv axles and same problem sound.
I have had to replace the turbo and radiator. I have replaced the coil packs and spark plugs 3 times since i received the car and now the transmission is acting up. I bought the car dec 2020 and it has left me stranded on the side of the road 4 times already from the engine malfunctioning.
Engine cylinder misfires . Even after changing spark plugs and coil packs. Especially when eco mode is off(in montion, accelerating) .when traction control cuts power seems to also attribute to misfiring and which has lead to unsettling idle.
Car traveling at 25 mph in straight line on city street, loud bang and shower of sparks under car.loss of power but car still running.pulled to side of road and saw smoke coming out of hood.opened hood and engine compartment engulfed in flames, closed hood and got away from car.within 40 seconds engine compartment and cabin totally engulfed in flames, car was a complete loss. 61,000 miles.
I have a 2013 vitamin c veloster and i recently looked under my license plate in the rear and noticed a big hole in my bumper from melting, it seems to keep getting worse since last week when i noticed it. I took it into the dealership yesterday and showed the service guys and at that point my bumper and plate mount had fused together from the heat. I fear the bumper starting on fire right next to the gas tank. They took 3.5 hours to look at it and figure out what was going on. They claimed that they have never heard of or seen this issue and when they finished, wouldn't tell me any info. They gave me no paperwork, they just told me "take the car, we had to order a lot of parts and it will be a while before we get them in; we will call you when the parts come in and they closed the shop.
My car stalled at a red light. Even though the engine was running and there were no mechanical lights on, the car wouldn't go when i pressed the gas. After turning the car off and on several times, it wouldn't move. It had to be pushed out of the street and after 20 minutes of resting, it worked again.
Experienced rough driving and engine rattling while driving above 40 miles.engine misfiring cylinder coil number 4 failed on 07/19/2018 and 5 months later cylinder coil # 3 failed. Dealer replaced both at no cost
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that while driving 40 mph, fuel fumes filled the cabin of the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 12,000.
While driving, car transmission disengaged, even though engine running. Instrument tach read 0, instruments panel seemed dead. Able to restart engine twice but unable to move. Exited car and locked, waited 30 secs. Able to restart car again then drive. Has happened twice within 5 miles of home.
My veloster turbo consumes between 3-4 quarts of oil between oil change. I have the 100,000 mile warranty on the power train but they will not look at the engine until we preform a oil consumption test which requires me to bring the car to the dealership every 1000 miles in order for them to look at the engine. I've brought it to two different dealerships and keep getting different excuses as to why this problem exist. The shop manager explained the issue this last time, so they know what the problem is, they just will not fix it or look at it, until we perform this "test". If we continue at this pace my car will be over 100,000 miles and the warranty will be voided. I have performed all of my oil changes on time. Hyundai will not honor their warranty on the power train.

Bought a used 2013 hyundai veloster with almost 15,000 miles for our son who has less than a year of driving experience.car hesitates/jerks when accelerating from a complete stop.took to the local dealer and did not find any error codes.they stated that due to the transmission on this car was manual and was converted to be automatic (i believe they call this dual clutch system), this is a normal issue.jerking/hesitation from a stop could be dangerous, the car behind us started accelerating and had to swerve to avoid hitting us since the car was abnormally slow to accelerate after jerking.now i am concern since my son is a new driver and may not know what to do when this occurs.he could be involved in an accident.this needs immediate action from the safety board, or i will file lawsuit against the agency for its inaction.based on complaints read on this site, there have been several complaints about this dangerous (or could be deadly) issue.
Within the last month my veloster had catastrophic failure of the turbocharger. After a $1200.00 repair it threw 2 connecting rods through the engine block causing another catastrophic failure and an impending $3000.00-5000.00 repair bill. The car was in motion both times.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that while attempting to drive with the manual transmission in first gear, the vehicle hesitated and stalled. The contact stated that the failure would occur also when attempting to change to higher gears. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 1,000.
When stopping at a stop sign while pressing the brake and the clutch down at the same time on multiple occasions it seems the system loses pressure and the clutch pedal sticks to the floor and will not release. The only way to get the clutch up is to lift with foot or hand causing a delay in taking off. This has been taken to the dealer for them not to replicate resulting in my family driving this car until some further action is taken or the problem gets worse. It always seems to do this while in neutral shifting to first while hitting the brake and the clutch coming to a stop. Some research on the net says slave or master cylinder sticking.

Thank you
To make a very long story short, i was driving to work and my car suddenly exploded and oil spewed out towards the rear. I had to get my engine replaced in late 2017 due to the engine throwing a rod. It took 3 months to repair because the dealership was behind due to other people having engine malfunctions. It took weeks to get a rental which was hectic because me and my husband both worked and commuted with a 2-year old.
The contact stated that the gear actuator and transmission were replaced however, the contact was unable to change gears or start the vehicle sporadically. The vehicle stalled intermittently and on more than one occasion, nearly caused a crash. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer several times but the failure could not be replicated or diagnosed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The vehicle was repaired by an authorized dealer over 32 times but to no avail. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 1,000.
The climate control switch has been replaced multiple times. The main harness where clips in is burnt an is melting my switch out after being changed an used for few hours it then burns out. The car smells like it's melting threw the vent of plastic.
6speed manual transmission clutch pedal drops to the floor by itself and does not disengage the transmission. Cannot shift into or out of any gear. Happens at random times either driving or parked engine running or not. If i raise the pedal by hand it remains up and the clutch and the vehicle operates normally until the next time it happens. Very dangerous in traffic because i cannot maneuver safely causing other cars to take evasive actions to avoid me until i can safely reach down under the dash to lift the pedal and regain control. Reported to dealer three times but they refuse to address the issue because they can't make it happen at will.
The dct transmission in this model has a severe lag when accelerating from a stop or having to accelerate quickly into traffic, when you press the throttle hard there is a one second delay before anything happens, and sometimes it completely bogs down when trying to merge into traffic, thankfully other drivers have slowed when it does this. It is an extreme safety hazard and needs to me addressed immediately.there are many people on the veloster.org site that are reporting the same problem and there is nothing the dealer can do about it.i've owned many, many vehicles in the past and this is the first one i've owned that i worry about my safety as well as the other motorists on the road.
When i entered the car and turned it on the steering wheel was locked . The engine was running and i could put it in gear but the steering would not turn. After i restarted the car a couple of times the problem was corrected but i am worried this will happen while driving and might cause a crash.this problem was repeated in 2 different occasions.another issue that happened twice was that i would put the car in reverse and it would not move. Same issue was resolved .if this car is faulty and from the complaints i see that it is .. There must be something done about it!
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that while at a stop light and after letting off the brake pedal, the vehicle rolled backwards. The contact indicated that the failure was intermittent. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was notified and informed the contact that the vehicle had operated as normal and that the issue was a normal characteristic of the transmission.the failure mileage was 9,800.
Lag upon acceleration. Multiple cylinder misfires. All replaced and continue to misfire.to much oil being expelled through exhaust, regular oil change records and drive efficiency.potentially ruining turbo as well as motor. Depleting mpg.

Auto was stopped at a red light. When light turn greeni pressedgas pedal auto did not move.all lights on dash board turned on, steering wheel locked ,the auto transmissionlever locked, ignitionlocked and brakes locked. Screen did not show what position if auto was on neutral, parked etc.,some guys helped me push car to side of a street. After 4-5minutes or so i was able to put my car in neutral and then after 5or 6 minutesignition unlocked and i was able to turn auto off.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While driving 50 mph, the clutch pedal collapsed onto the floorboard. The vehicle stalled directly afterwards due to the inability to switch gears properly. The contact was able to coast the vehicle to the right side of the road and restart the vehicle. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The dealer was not made aware of the issue. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 130,000.
There is a plastic guide that allows the rear seat belts to retract and extend freely.on a number of occasions, under normal use, the seat belt has become lodged under the plastic guide part, preventing the seat belt from retracting properly, and thus causing excessive slack in the seat belt.
Brakeslose of brake pressure when bumps are hit. Reapply brakes to regain pressureengineburning oil issues and overheating issues. This has resulted in my 1.6 l having engine failure and it is not on the recall list as the 2.0's and up are.being that they are the same motor other than the size of pistons and turbo confuses me
Rear brake calipers stick causing the tires not to turn since the brakes are engaged this is due to the caliper being. Stuck.the dealer fixed mine on the drivers side but now the problem is in the passenger side and they refuse to fix it because the car has 63280 miles on it (3280) out of warranty.the 2012 model of this car had the exact problem and was recalled but hyundai refuses to fix my 2013 for the same problem.why.look up "veloster sticking brakes" on the internet and see that this is a big problem and hyundai knows about it (2012) but refuses to fix the later models with the problem like mine.this problem needs to be recalled before the brakes on one of them stick and cause a wreck.my car has two huge worn out spots (must replace) on the tire due to this problem.please have this problem fixed before someone is killed due to involuntary stuck brakes.
I bought my 2013 veloster in september 2012. Sometime between 2016 and2017(not quite sure), my parking brakes locked up while parked. I had to have my car towed to hyundai. Hyundai wanted $900 plus to repair. My car was pass the 60k warranty so i took it to another mechanic, who repaired the brakes but they never worked. So i decided to just drive without the emergency brakes until last year, 2019 when the brake light came on while i was driving. I copied and pasted the following complaint posted by another hyundai owner on this site: rear brake calipers stick causing the tires not to turn since the brakes are engaged this is due to the caliper being. Stuck. The dealer fixed mine on the drivers side but now the problem is in the passenger side and they refuse to fix it because the car has 63280 miles on it (3280) out of warranty. The 2012 model of this car had the exact problem and was recalled but hyundai refuses to fix my 2013 for the same problem. Why. Look up "veloster sticking brakes" on the internet and see that this is a big problem and hyundai knows about it (2012) but refuses to fix the later models with the problem like mine. This problem needs to be recalled before the brakes on one of them stick and cause a wreck. My car has two huge worn out spots (must replace) on the tire due to this problem. Please have this problem fixed before someone is killed due to involuntary stuck brakes. I encountered the same thing, but more. Last year, 2019 my brake light came on again while driving but since i knew i had no parking brakes, i decided to have my brakes checked. Bf goodrich checked my brakes and repaired my rear brakes but informed me that they could not fix the emergency parking brakes. It cost me about $900 again. I have documentation of these repairs, but i am unable to scan and upload them now. Please provide an email address so i can send them,
During moderate braking on rough roads the vehicle makes a loud bang. At this time the brake pedal becomes very difficult to depress. This vehicle suffered four flat tires during the 2013/2014 winter in michigan due to pot holes. Two of the wheels had to be replace during one incident. Tire profile is not appropriate for roads in this area. Dealer had vehicle for a week but did not find a problem.
Rear left caliper sticking when in reverse. Back left tire drags. Driving forward is fine, no issues. Start in march this year (2019). Not sure why this isn't part of the recall, as i've read several other complaints as well.
As i was driving on the freeway, traveling down an interchange to another freeway, i depressed the gas pedal. Once i completely let off the gas, i started to apply the brakes. Just as i started to steer into the turn, the steering wheel locked up and i removed my foot from the brake pedal. The car started accelerating and braking on its own, without my application of any pedals. The wheels locked up without me applying the brakes. I was put into a four wheel slide where i was almost ran into an embankment. The wheels then unlocked prior to the possible impact and the vehicle started accelerating and braking again on its own. During this entire time, my steering wheel was still locked up. I was able to put my car in neutral and the car headed to the side of the freeway. The steering wheel was still locked up when i put the vehicle into the neutral position. The convulsions (random braking and accelerating) stopped once i put the car into neutral. With the car still unable to be controlled and traveling on the side of the freeway, i shut off the vehicle. Once the vehicle was restarted, the random braking and accelerating ceased and the steering wheel was no longer locked up. This could have ended very badly, not only for myself, but for others who may have been on the road at the time.
Brake light warning indicator flashing on dashboard when put in drive. Warning light extinguishes when the vehicle is placed in park or reversing. The emergency brake or parking brake is not engaged.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While driving 70 mph, the steering wheel began to vibrate and became difficult to turn. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where they balanced the front driver and passenger tires; however, the failure continued. The contact called greenway hyundai orlando (located at 4110 w colonial dr, orlando, fl 32808, (407) 578-5337) and informed them of the failure. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 77,300.

Continual play and clunking noise in steering wheel when turning. Coupler damaged in steering motor.
Steering wheel making clunking noises when it is turned and messed up clocks ring causing the vehicles airbag light to turn on
The motor driven power steering (mdps) rubber coupler has failed which is a very common issue with this manufacture.this specific issue for the veloster was left out of the latest service bulletin but other models with the same issue are included.
Motor driven power streering coupling replacement at 50 thousand miles, known problem with hyundais and veloster is not covered. Clunking sound in the wheel and loose.
The plastic steering coupler has broken and is causing a clunking noise in the steering column.this is the same part that was recalled on the sonata and elantra but it is not covered under warranty because it is a veloster.the vehicle had just 50,000 miles and the part has failed.the dealer knew exactly what the problem was and said this was a common issue
Steering coupler problem. Same issue on the elantra and sonata have been recalled, but not on the veloster. I have read of many people having the issue with the coupler on their veloster. Please help get this recalled.
1) steering wheel remote controls for radio & phone have been intermittent since original purchase;2) air conditioning system does not completely restrict outside/engine warm air coming into cabin when not using a/c, for instance when windows down;3) clock does not work consistently (it only recently just started working all by itself.
My daughter was driving at a low rate of speed and preparing to make a left turn on surface streets. The steering wheel locked in place and she was able to stop the car. She kept the car running and continued to attempt to turn the steering wheel. After approximately 60 seconds of this activity the steering wheel returned to normal operation.
Steering wheel vibrate in motion and clicking when is stationary when you try to turn the wheel
There is a steering clunking noise as well as a "dead spot" in the steering wheel motion.there is a loss of control of the actual wheels while the steering wheel is at the center posistion.you can rock the steering wheel back and forth from center and the wheels will not turn.this is a known problem for hyundais, and hyundai has extended its warranty to their other models but have excluded the veloster for no reason.this is a ~$400 fix at the dealer ship for a known defective part.total scam.
Steering column clicking because of worn steering wheel coupler.this could cause steering wheel to lock.hyundai had agreed to cover the elantra and sonata for up to 10 years but not other models.this is same problem for other models.they should fix as steering column could be harmed and accidents could occur.
The rubber steering bushing failed, same part that has a recall on sonata and elantra hyundai models. The part failed while driving on a highway
After approximately 78000 miles the steering wheel began making a clicking sound when turning left or right.the problem stems from a plastic piece that needs replacing but the cost is over $300.00 due to the entire steering wheel assembly has to be removed.hyundai has issued a recall for the elantra's for the very same thing but not the veloster.1st major concern with vehicle but not pleased that hyundia wont own up to this brand problem. My cousin has a 2-door genesis and the same thing has happened to him at 30k miles.
When i entered the car and turned it on the steering wheel was locked . The engine was running and i could put it in gear but the steering would not turn. The steering wheel makes a loud clicking noise when you turn it. It does it with the car on or off. It also shakes a lot more than it should ever since it started making the noise.
Vehicle slips out of gear often. Dealership cannot duplicate problem, and one dealer dismissed my complaint. Happens after accelerating from a stop when shifting from 1-2 but has happened when shifting 2-3 and it slips out and engine revs, disengaged from wheels (as if in neutral). This is when using it in normal mode, not sport or manual shift. There are numerous other complaints online in various forums (not yet on nhsta site it seems) this is very unsafe in traffic as the driver must stop accelerating, shift car into n and then back to drive to get it to work again.
I was experiencing loss of power steering/loose steering wheel in my hyundai veloster, which compromised my ability to control my car's steering direction and so could have resulted in an accident. There were no warning lights.i had my car inspected and the serviceman identified a worn steering coupler. I am aware that the elantra and sonata of like years have been issued a recall on the same part due to the poor material quality, but found my model did not yet have this same part recalled.
Steering wheel clicks when goes side to side. Shaking in steering when slowing down.
My steering wheel makes a clicking noise when turning or shifting the wheel from side to side. The steering wheel isn't tightly secured. In addition, the buttons on the steering wheel for voice control, etc. No longer works.
The rubber steering coupler that connects the electric steering motor to the steering column has failed.when turning the steering wheel the front tires do not initially start to turn until you hear a metallic cluck and then the tires start to turn.this occurs whether the car is stopped or moving.also, bumpy roads causes erratic shaking of the steering wheel.that did not start to occur until the rubber steering coupler failed.this part failed when the car had only 55,000 miles on it.the cost to repair it was around $250.
On this model we are experiencing a violent shake in the steering wheel. The shake starts when the car reaches around 40 mph. There is a lot of play in the steering wheel. I had my mechanic inspect the issue and as soon as he sat down a moved the steering left and right he knew what the issue was. He said the problem is a plastic bushing located in the steering column. He said that this is happening a lot in hyundai cars including the sonata. He has already replaced 4 in last couple of months and it seems to be happening right after the warranty expires. I am 10k miles over my 60k warranty and hyundai said there is nothing they can do. It is now going to cost me around $400 to replace a $3 part. I looked online and this issue seems to be a regular complaint with numerous complaints online stating the same issue. I have been notified by my mechanic that if that plastic bushing wears out anymore and the plastic "teeth" on the bushing wear out anymore that we could lose the ability to steer the vehicle. We cannot even drive the car on the highway because the steering shakes so violently. We noticed the issue happening about a month ago and it has just gotten worse since. I'm currently having the issue repaired by my mechanic because hyundai will not warranty the issue as they state they have never heard of this issue which i find hard to believe because i typed it in google and found more cases on this issue than i can count.
When driving the steering does not stay straight. When driving over a bump the steering is knocked off by a few degrees it does not straighten out again (for eg if it is knocked to 5 deg it won't go back to 0, instead it will settle on 1 or 2 degrees). This means a minor lapse in concentration could result in the car drifting into another lane.
The mdps (motor driven power steering) assembly contains a flexible rubber coupling which may wear over time resulting in a slight 'clicking' or 'thud' type noise when turning the steering wheel. This together with the huge amount of dead play makes the vehicle unsafe. There's a recall/extended warranty from hyundai usa for this same exact issue for other models with the exact same issue, but not for this one.
Steering column "clunks" when turning.this appears to be a known problem with hyundai models and is a result of a coupler?elantra models are covered under warranty why not veloster?
Deering wheel shake while driving. Took it into the car dealer where it was bought was toldwas not covered by warranty had to pay repair $435.47
At interstate speeds (60 mph and above),the vehicle's steering becomes unexpectedly heavy, and it seemingly takes an unusual (and possibly, momentarily alarming) amount of steering effort to keep the vehicle "centered" on the road.
The steering coupler on my vehicle is failing. This is a known problem with hyundai and kia vehicles and there have been recalls for other models, why has there not been for my veloster?
Known mdps rubber coupler failure. Steering has a clunk in it when wheel is turned left or right. There is a tbs out for other hyundai's having this problem, but not the 2013 veloster.
2013 hyundai veloster with 40,000 miles.i am the original owner.i bought the car in april 2013 and just noticed this problem in january 2020.the steering wheel feels like it has a flat spot and sticks when i turn the wheel to the left or right.this happens regardless of being stationary or driving.the sticking only happens when i initially turn the wheel.and, when i reverse the wheel to drive straight - it has that momentary flat spot feel.
My 2013 veloster has 49,000 miles and it appears the rubber fitting inside the steering wheel has deteriorated. The wheel shakes and shudders violently. I'm unhappy that hyundai has allowed owners of elantras to have their vehicles repaired under a service bulletin, but velosters apparently do not qualify?
The steering wheel is lose with loud clicking sound when the wheel is turned. The cruise controlwhen turn on will not turn off. The clicking lose steering happens when stationary or driving. Cruise control stocks when driving.this started 3 years ago. Stopped using cruise control. Took car to hyundai for both. Clicking/loose steering is a faulty part that is know by hyundai and has been recalled on sevetal other hyundai. But no recall has been done for the veloster
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact experienced a failure with the power steering and steering column bushing. While driving 70 mph, the steering wheel vibrated uncontrollably and jerked to the left. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The contact attempted to correct the failure, but lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a ditch. The vehicle sustained tire damage. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was not filed. There were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to f1 auto sales (1336 fort campbell blvd, clarksville, tn 37042, (931) 919-4744) for diagnostic testing and repairs. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 90,990.
When driving the vehicle the back wants to step out of line when going over bumps, this is more pronounced when going around a curve. Also when the vehicle hits a patch of snow, during the transition on to the snow and off the car feels like the ends want to switch places. If one rear tire transitions onto snow or ice the entire rear of the car wants to travel that direction, it also does this when crossing asphalt patches. It is more pronounced on roads with vertical grooving in the concrete. There have been time when in light snow conditions i have had to go about 35-40 mph just to keep the car straight and in my lane. By doing so i became a rolling roadblock, as the other traffic did not have the same issue as i did. I did go through a bbb case with the vehicle, but neither time were the road conditions conducive to this issue, and per hyundai everything is set to factory specs(which i do not doubt). There is an inherent design flaw with the rear suspension of this vehicle and if something is not done, lives may be lost.
This has actually happened multiple times, each time when turning.the first time was turning left out of a parking lot, my car refused to accelerate, i had to put it into neutral and then back into drive, it finally started driving. The second time, was driving and turned left into an intersection and it just stopped. I had to turn it off and then on again before it would move. I am lucky no one was behind me. The 3rd time i was not alone in the car and again i turned left into an intersection and it just stopped. Emergency blinkers on and again, i had to turn off the car and turn it on again for it it move. The most recent was this morning when i turned right and like before, it just wouldn't move. I had to turn emergency blinkers on, and turn off and turn on car again. Living in a busy city with people that are not paying attention all the time, this is really starting to be worrisome.
The mdps flexible coupler failed and causes loose steering and clicking noise coming from the steering column.
My steering wheel shakes continuously while driving and when stationarythe steering wheel makes the same noises while shaking but the tires are not turning with it. Has been happening a long time now.
While driving, my steering wheel will begin to shake. This has been occurring frequently, during moments while i've driven straight and have turned. Regardless of the position of my wheel, it has increasingly began to shake, as if the wheel is out of place. The wheel has become loose. I visited a hyundai dealership, and they identified the issue, relating it to a small, plastic part in the wheel. The dealership told me that hyundai issued recalls for this exact part in other hyundai vehicles, just not the veloster. It is the same part in other hyundai vehicles, one that has been recalled in those makes and models, but hyundai has yet to issue a recall for this exact part in the veloster models. This issue has made it increasingly dangerous to drive, as the dealership verbally told me that eventually, the steering will may disconnect from the vehicle.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While stationary and driving various speeds, the steering wheel shook violently. Doral hyundai in doral, florida was made aware of the failure and stated that the steering wheel coupling was faulty. The dealer stated that the failure was known to be an issue, but was not included in a recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was approximately 123,000.
On friday may 10 i took my veloster to the dealer as i was considering a possible trade in.the sales manager did a full check of my car and test drove it as well in an effort to make an acceptable offer for trade.my car was in perfect condition with no damage whatsoever.after discussing all the details, i decided not to trade in my car.i left and and drove to a local theater.while driving i heard an unusual noise as if something had fallen/blown off my car.it was dark and since i didn't see anything i figured it was something on the road.well when i got to the theater (about 5 miles away) and got out of the car, my passenger advised me that the strip on the passenger side roof that is normally present as a clip-in mechanism was missing.i can only conclude that it blew off while i was driving.i feel for the person behind me who either got hit by it or had to do some evasive maneuvering to avoid impact.this could be a very serious issue, especially at higher speeds.i don't know if anyone was injured or not, but hyundai needs to be aware of its potential serious hazard. -the dealer wants me to pay for replacement/repair of a defective part even though i am still under my bumper to bumper warranty.i can assure you that i will not be paying to have it replaced as it is hyundai's responsibility.with less than 10000 miles there is no excuse for this type of issue to occur.
After only having the vehicle for a short time, i started to notice on the center of the rear bumper & right rear quarter panel were missing paint. Over time it has only gotten worse. I was told that the parts of the car that are plastic underneath the paint tend to flex and cause the paint to crack.
Sunroof shattered while driving. No contact made with vehicle, was driving about 50 mph when sunroof glass shattered, breaking of back part of frame as well. Glass on sunroof shattered upward, eventually caving in on top of cover
Ac knob stopped engaging and only fan only runs on one setting also the rear hatch button stopped working
While driving on the 528 heading to work, there was an impressive explosion sound followed by glass shards and pulverized glass from the sunroof being propelled into the car forcefully.i was driving at approx 70mph, and the sunroof was closed.all other windows were closed as well. There were no other vehicles in front of me.the sunroof imploded into the car, covering me and the interior of the vehicle with glass.thankfully, i was wearing sunglasses which kept the glass out of my eyes. As i was very near my job when it happened, i continued to drive at a much, much slower speed to my job.when i arrived, i found glass inside my clothing and was removing glass from my hair all day.i called a dealer and took the car in immediately, missing the first part of my shift at work.i was told they had never heard of this happening, but it would be covered under the warranty.a new sunroof was installed.today, 11/14/13, while driving, i now notice a "crackling" sound from the roof while driving.i am afraid the implosion is going to happen again!i have called the dealer and am waiting to hear what they advise.is terrible to own a car and be afraid to drive it!!
Base of the affected panoramic roof, water filtration into the vehicle.
The drivers side window does not come back upthe motor engages and window stuck in open also occured on the passenger rear window
The rear panoramic roof section shattered without warning when we closed the trunk.
Shattered sunroof while driving for no apparent reason.after incident found that 2012 hyundai volester was recalled for same thing.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. Without warning, the contact stated that the panoramic sun roof fractured. There were no injuries. The dealer (ettleson hyundai, 5631 south la grange road, countryside, il 60525, (708) 491-0200) inspected the vehicle and suggested that the contact check with the insurance company. The vin was not included in nhtsa action number: pe12027 (visibility) and nhtsa campaign numbers: 13v051000 (visibility) and 12v568000 (visibility). The manufacturer was notified and provided no solution. The approximate failure mileage was 60,000.
As i was driving down the road going about 60 miles per hour my sunroof exploded. I did not hit any bumps nor did any object strike my vehicle. It sounded like a bomb went off in my vehicle. Luckily i had the shade closed so the glass laid on the shade. However, looking in the rear view mirror there was a lot of glass flying around. No one was around me at the time of the explosion. My local hyundai dealer is fixing the glass for half the cost of the actual repair per hyundai corporation. I still would like this to be investigated. I'm terrified it'll happen again after it is fixed.
I was driving down the interstate doing 70 mph when suddenly my sunroof exploded while closed. Considering this model vehicle has an all glass sunroof this is very dangerous. I called hyundai and was told the 2012 models have a recall for exploding sunroofs but not mine in particular. This is a safety hazard as people with children in the backseat can get cut by falling glass if this happens. The sunroof explodes without warning.
While parked in a parking garage my sunroof exploded. Glass was everywhere. Nothing was even near my car when it happened (thank goodness) after looking at security footage. I hope a recall is done soon because i could not imagine if i had been in the vehicle with children. Hyundai has been semi-helpful but something needs to be done before it happens instead of after
The trunk latch had been failing intermittently.i stopped at a dealership who opened the driver's door, and began locking and unlocking the electric door locks.this solved the problem at the time.i asked how playing with the locks would fix the trunk issue.the question was not answered.this solved the problem for a couple of years.however, the trunk latch finally failed permanently.i could not open the trunk via the emergency latch from the in side.i was told by the dealership that the issue was an electrical issue.hence, the door lock remidey.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the sun roof had shattered. Napleton hyundai (649 dunn rd, hazelwood, mo 63042, (314) 548-0956) was called, but the contact had not received a response yet. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 82,000.
The first incident happened as i was driving to michigan from indiana, on a cold but clear day. Half way into michigan i ran into a light dusting of snow, and before i knew it my rear end started sliding to the right. At first i thought i hit a patch of ice, but i soon realized i'm the only one sliding all over the road. My top speed 40 to 45 mph. Everyone was passing me with no problems. When i got to my parents house, i went to discount tire and bought new rims and snow tires. The result no different. Last week i was heading to chicago, and ran into rain at 70 mph. Same situation as before. The rear stepped out and i almost caused an accident. I'm terrified driving this car.
When driving the vehicle the back wants to step out of line when going over bumps, this is more pronounced when going around a curve. Also when the vehicle hits a patch of snow, during the transition on to the snow and off the car feels like the ends want to switch places. Cpsc#i12c0628a. 2013 hyundai veloster. Consumer stated that this car is very difficult to control when he drives. *ln the consumer stated he has been in three accidents due to the bad design of the suspension.the consumer stated hyundai used a twist beam rear axle on the suspension
The contact stated that the wheels caused the tires to wear prematurely. The vehicle was taken to a dealer but no diagnosis was determined. The tires were replaced on several occasions but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 6,427 and the approximate current mileage was 32,005.
Sunroof shattered while driving. No contact made with vehicle, was driving about 50 mph when sunroof glass shattered, breaking of back part of frame as well. Glass on sunroof shattered upward, eventually caving in on top of cover
The car stalls in the middle of traffic.as i come to a red light, or try to accelerate when a light turns green the car stalls. Takes a few restarts / a few minutes to work again. But then happens soon after. It has been happening for a few days now and i thought it would be a one off situation.
1) steering wheel remote controls for radio & phone have been intermittent since original purchase;2) air conditioning system does not completely restrict outside/engine warm air coming into cabin when not using a/c, for instance when windows down;3) clock does not work consistently (it only recently just started working all by itself.
Air conditioner motor melted inside control knob. Result no air conditioned car.
My veloster turbo sunroof randomly exploded and shattered all on me and around me lightly damaging the interior of my car and gave me a few scratches and could have potentially blinded me had it gone into my eyes. I tried to call and see if hyundai would help me out, but was told to get my call inspected at a dealership, only to be told that hyundai will not cover the replacement for my sunroof; even though it is a known factory defect on my car make and model and has had multiple reports from owners of the same make and model. I am extremely upset with that fact and wanted to report this issue to the nhtsa, and maybe with this hyundai will act on this issue sooner than later.
The fan knob only works on certain speeds if you have it precisely in a certain spot, and the plug behind the part that plugs it in is burnt. I have seen several others with this same issue. It is a fire hazard as sometimes it smells like burning electrical.

I hope a recall is done soon because i could not imagine if i had been in the vehicle with children. Hyundai has been semi-helpful but something needs to be done before it happens instead of after
The knob on to the ac and heat in the vehicle burned out and doesnt work. According to main websites, this issue happens alot and continues to be an issue for many even after it's been replaced.

Driving down interstate and sunroof exploded. Did not what happen ay first. Loud explosion scared me to death. Glass flying during rush hour traffic. The sunroof was in the closed postion and all of a sudden boom.
I was driving 70mph in the high-speed lane on i-40 eastbound on 7/7/15 at 7:10pm when my sunroof exploded without warning.there were no cars in front of me.my sunroof was closed, and the windows were closed.the weather was sunny and ~90 degrees. The explosion came as a sudden thunderous boom causing shards of glass to fall into my vehicle onto my head and down my back, causing only a few minor cuts.i was so alarmed as the sunroof exploded that i swerved onto the berm of the highway.i noticed that the vehicles behind me also swerved causing near accidents, as i suspect shards of glass also flew backward at their vehicle after the explosion.i put on my flashers and pulled my vehicle to the right berm of the highway to calm myself.the other cars did not stop.since the vehicle was still in driving condition, i drove the vehicle home slowly with my emergency flashers on and called my insurance company.there are currently no recalls on 2013 hyundai velosters.however there was a recall (#12v568000) for 2012 velosters for the same issue.there are also blogs on the web that talk about this issue lingering with 2013 models, however, no action has been taken by hyundai to proactively address this enormous safety concern.i hope this notification to nhtsa helps drive some action and forces hyundai to recall these sunroofs considering how this could have easily caused severe injury and/or death at such high speeds.
Base of the affected panoramic roof, water filtration into the vehicle.
Engine cylinder misfires . Even after changing spark plugs and coil packs. Especially when eco mode is off(in montion, accelerating) .when traction control cuts power seems to also attribute to misfiring and which has lead to unsettling idle.
Panoramic glass implosion - while driving 70 pmh down the freeway, the closed glass roof section imploded sending shards of shattered glass thought out the paseenger compartment.
I was involved in an automobile accident while my car was in motion on a city street. My car would not brake at the red light causing a collision with an intersecting vehicle. My front is damaged and the back passenger side. Car collided twice. The airbags did not deploy.
Ac knob stopped engaging and only fan only runs on one setting also the rear hatch button stopped working
Air bag warning cluster light is always on.the horn doesn't work.
While driving, car transmission disengaged, even though engine running. Instrument tach read 0, instruments panel seemed dead. Able to restart engine twice but unable to move. Exited car and locked, waited 30 secs. Able to restart car again then drive. Has happened twice within 5 miles of home.

My son's 2013 hyundai veloster's sunroof exploded violently while parked in our house drive way.the insurance company was contacted, but because of our insurance deductible the expense will not be covered by them.the car was taken to the hyundai dealer and they would not take responsibility for the damage, despitethey had done some recalls on this issue, but were never notify of this recall or of the possibilities that this could happen.. I find it unfair that we have to pay for a damage that has to dowith manufacturing ofsuch sunroofs by hyundai. It is clear to us now that this is a very terrible ,dangerous and common issue with this type of vehicles sunroofs because of its size.i am filling this complain because i want to know what measures has the government taken to make sure that the automobile industry, in our case the hyundai , is manufacturing safe cars.from my reading related to this issue i am now aware that the auto industry and governmentsafety regulators are well aware of the present safety hazards, that can very well end up been deadly.please advise me on how i can approach this issue with hyundai.to clarify the vehicle was stationary and the temperature was approximately 70%, we do live in south, florida and the temperatures can go very high, so i am very afraid that this can happen again and i do fear for my son's safety.as of now we are going to have to pay $720.00 for this repair that we have nothing to do with it.sincerely[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).
June 16/2015, at 12:40 est, the top rear window of my '13 veloster shattered when i closed thedriver side door. This happened after having lunch in the car for 1/2 hour with thewindows open. The temperature was in the mid 70s. It happened with the windows closed whenthe door was shut as i exited the vehicle. The rear hatch and both front passengerdoors were used twice earlier in the morning with no damage observed. The vehicle satoutside in the sun for 4 1/2 hours before lunch. Recently, there had been some severe rainand high wind, but no hail. Temperatures had gone into the upper 80s in the last week.the glass completely shattered into small pieces and left a large hole in the center. Theshape of the glass where the hole was appeared to be pushed out. That section and muchmore of the glass fell into the back of the vehicle while driving home.i was told by a service manager at the hyundai dealership that it was not covered under warranty.
My fianc and i was driving down the interstate when all of a sudden my sunroof exploded on my 2013 hyundai veloster.
My steering wheel makes a clicking noise when turning or shifting the wheel from side to side. The steering wheel isn't tightly secured. In addition, the buttons on the steering wheel for voice control, etc. No longer works.
While driving home my car suddenly caught fire. The manufacture had just replaced the fuel in injections system 2 weeks prior.
The speed control panel is not working and the horn is not working either
A/c switch malfunctioning,has been replaced 4 times
Ac control switch replaced 4 times and the cruze switch has wire problem
While on the highway my car slowed down and would not accelerate. Prior to this, the car had been running completely fine. My car has about 93,000 miles on it currently. I towed my car 20 miles to my long time and trusted mechanic. He says my car has an oil consumption problem. Apparently this is a very common issue with hyundai velosters, and from what i've read most people decide to avoid the headache and runaround that hyundai gives them when reporting the issue. They instead opt to trade their vehicles in. Would this issue warrant a recall? given the fact that hyundai knows this is a recurring problem in this vehicle? not to mention, this is a huge safety concern! my car literally stalled on a highway.
Riding down the interstate and heard a loud pop alomost like a gun shot, next thing i knowglass was falling on me, on my seats and floors. I looked up and sunroof was shattered, nothing caused it to shatter nothing hit it. But obviously based on other complaints and hyundai it's a defect and hyundai isn'tdoingfix the problem or recall car
The a/c fan has all but stopped working. I'm lead to believe this is a result of the materials that you were used when constructing the fan regulator knob and them melting. There are people complaining about it all over the internet but mine went up shortly after the car is outside of warranty for this coverage (based on mileage). The fan will blow only when positioned precisely right.
Contol assy-heat, part number 97250-2v010-blh heats up and melts all switches and wiring and causes a fire hazard
1) steering wheel remote controls for radio & phone have been intermittent since original purchase;2) air conditioning system does not completely restrict outside/engine warm air coming into cabin when not using a/c, for instance when windows down;3) clock does not work consistently (it only recently just started working all by itself.
Electronic gear motor overheated and left vehicle in overdrive on the highway in stopped/slowed traffic.once in park or neutral, transmission is disabled and will not go into any gear.had to push the vehicle off the road to have towed.dealer called the part the 'gear motor actuator' and that he has done numerous replacements and the problem is ongoing.
Ac control switch replaced 4 times and the cruze switch has wire problem

I have had to replace the turbo and radiator. I have replaced the coil packs and spark plugs 3 times since i received the car and now the transmission is acting up. I bought the car dec 2020 and it has left me stranded on the side of the road 4 times already from the engine malfunctioning.
The speed control panel is not working and the horn is not working either
Driving to work at 45mph and the rear hatch window shattered. Nothing hit it, no previous cracks, etc. Back glass just shattered, the only thing holding the glass from falling into the back seat was my tinting.
While traveling on a highway at 70 mph the sunroof violently explode and the cover started jumping up and down dropping glass all over the interior. It sounded like a shotgun going off inside the car. I really startled and luckily got the car slowed down and off the road without incident. Got it to the dealership and like most i have read they said they have never heard of this happening. With such high milage of course the warranty is out on it. So i will be stuck out of pocket for fixing it
When driving at highway speed the sunroof exploded and sent glass flying into and around car.there was nothing nearby that could have hit and damaged the sunroof so violently, and the incident seems to be caused by the same manufacturer defect as 2012 hyundai models covered in the recall.the car is a 2013 turbo model though, so it is not covered by the recall.this could have easily have caused an accident if i wasn't aware of the problem in advance so i could understand what was happening and react accordingly.hyundai will not acknowledge the problem since its outside of the initial warranty despite the fact that its consistent with the other sunroof recall.other problems include having to have a clutch replaced at 45000 due to another manufacturer defect (car wouldnt accelerate in 1st or 2nd gear), and needing an engine replaced at 60000 for an unknown reason.i bought the car brand new (drove off the lot with 12 miles on odometer) and have had all maintenance, including oil changes, done by the hyundai dealership.so far the car is giving me more problems the longer i own it.

Most of not all owners of hyundai/kia vehicles experience a short in the climate control unit. This fault not only creates a visibility issue while driving the car in adverse weather. But may also cause spark fire associated with the climate control knob.
Driving on 60 freeway west bound in chino ca approximately 62 mph and sunroof just exploded. Sounded like a gunshot. Glass immediately fell on my lap and passenger seat and rear seats.
The windshield rear-view mirror does not dim adequately. The rear-view mirror does not have a manual dimming lever, just a row of buttons along the bottom for telephone, bluetooth, etc. Having driven the car at night, i thought it did not have any mirror dimming, so i stopped at a hyundai dealer the next day and was informed that the mirror has a photocell that tells the mirror whether it is day or night, and the mirror automatically dims. I covered the sensor and they were correct, but the amount of dimming is far from adequate--such that when i drove the car at night, i did not realize there was any dimming at all. I had to re-aim the mirror so i could not see the headlights of the car behind me. Such re-aiming of the mirror cancels most of the safety benefits of having a rear-view mirror.
Sunroof shattered while driving and fell into the driver compartment.the 2012 model year of this vehicle had a recall issued for this problem, but not the 2013 model year.the issue seems to have crossed the model years.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While driving approximately 60 mph, the sun roof exploded. The contact coasted the vehicle over to the side of the road and resumed driving with glass inside the vehicle. The vehicle was taken to an unknown hyundai dealer in austin, tx where the broken glass was vacuumed out. The contact was advised to take the vehicle back to where it was purchased. The contact took the vehicle to wiesner hyundai located in conroe, tx who stated that the contact was behind on her warranty and the vehicle could not be serviced. The vehicle was not repaired due to the diagnostic and warranty fees. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and agreed with the dealer. No further assistance was offered. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. The contact stated that the sun roof shattered after opening and closing the door. The sun roof was not struck by a foreign object. There were no injuries. The manufacturer was contacted. The approximate failure mileage was 47,105.
While driving to work this morning my sunroof exploded, sending glass onto me, the interior and exterior of the vehicle. I sustained minor scratches to my skin.
Sunroof shattered spontaneously.there was a recall for the sunroofs on these velosters. I followed up with hyundai and they said that my particular car was not subject to the recall, though it is the same exact sunroof on the cars that were effected.
While driving westbound on i-26 (no other passengers) traveling at around 4:15 pm from work to home, there was a loud crack or pop sound and my panoramic roof exploded and shards and chunks of glass flew inside and out of the vehicle.
I was driving to work at around 7:10 in the morning traveling at 60mph when all of the sudden the panoramic sunroof exploded for no apparent reason. A shower of glass fell on me and all over my car damaging the seats and cutting my right arm and forehead. I managed to get to work with a bloody arm and front head and thank god i had no other cars close to me when it happened.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While the vehicle was parked, the contact noticed that the sun roof had shattered. I own a 2013 hyundai veloster that i purchased in may. While driving over the tappan zee bridge, this morning, my sunroof spontaneously exploded without warning. I was in shock, covered in glass and unable to pull over until i reached the toll plaza, the there is no stopping on the bridge. I called my dealer and they advised me that it was a "known issue" but that my car had not been recalled and they were not sure why. The tow-service that is used for the thruway authority could not take me to my dealer and only to the nearest one, which is white plains hyundai. They also advised me that it is a "known issue" and has to do with the glass. Again, they confirmed that my vin was excluded from the recall. It is (obviously) covered under warranty. However, i am now terrified of my sunroof as no one can tell me that the issue is resolved and assure me that it won't happen again. I've only owned the car for 3 months! at the dealer's suggestion, i called hyundai customer service for answers and received very little information. I have photos available and am happy to do an interview.
I was driving, doing approx 50 miles per hour when i heard a pop and then it started to rain glass from my panoramic sunroof that was shattering all over me. I had glass in my hair, cuts on my forehead and i have a huge lump on the top of my head from where i was hit in the head with a bigger piece of glass. Went to the hospital to make sure i didn't have a concussion, which i do not, however, i am very sore from my neck up to the top of my head. Brought the car to the hyundai dealer and the service adviser acted surprised that this had happened and said to contact my insurance company to file a complaint since he stated it couldn't have happened on its own, that something had to have hit it. How sad it is to come home to see that the 2012 model of my carexperienced the same challenge and was under recall and now i am seeing that several other 2013 owners are experiencing the same issue with their sunroof as i am.
While driving on highway 83 in pharr, tx, i heard a loud explosion suddenly and wind howling; i immediately set my hazards to alert the vehicles near me as i thought i was in a wreck. I looked up to discover that my panoramic sunroof had exploded and shards of glass were flying both behind my vehicle and inside my vehicle. I ended up with minor cuts and scrapes as a result. I called hyundai, but they stated that this vehicle was not likely part of an earlier recall in 2013 for shattering panoramic sunroofs. For the extent of damage done, there is no possible way i couldn't have heard a rock of that size hit my vehicle directly on my sunroof strong enough to smash through the layers of my sunroof and pop the frame out of place. Luckily, this didn't result in a collision, but this recall needs a second look at expansion- what happened is unacceptable. The dealership is in process of replacing the sunroof but i'm concerned the underlying problem is being missed.
The contact owns a 2013 hyundai veloster. While driving at 15 mph and opening the sun roof, the glass shattered. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 53,000.
My 2013 hyundai veloster's sunroof exploded violently, while parked under the carport. It caused damaged to the interior and to the surrounding vehicles. According to reviews this issue is under investigation for the 2012 models, yet mine is a 2013. Obviously, the problem has been corrected. I will not feel safe driving my car once the manufacture/dealership fix it. And sadly, i've only had it for a month.
Rear left caliper sticking when in reverse. Back left tire drags. Driving forward is fine, no issues. Start in march this year (2019). Not sure why this isn't part of the recall, as i've read several other complaints as well.
