Hello everyone,2018 hyundai tusconproblem: engine/air bagcause: unknown* after a collision with 2 large deer on a main highway early morning, immediately brought it to a shop. The body work was finished and i had the car back, unfortunately after that my engine was very very sluggish. Irregular shifting, slight ticking in engine block, no later i had issues with battery light coming on ( the car shut off)while i'm motion on main road. Needless to say the dealership says that it's a total loss, this 2 year old vehicle with less than 50,000 miles had a blown engine due to unknown causes. I need some explaining from someone why this happened to multiple owners.

After acquiring a little over a month (1167 miles on it)this car failed while i was driving on a major highway and had to navigate over 4 lanes from just momentum - could not use my cellphone as it was trying to sync to the car which was now completely dead. Towed to purchasing dealer and was diagnosed as bad ground wire.i am terrified to drive this car again, my passenger and i could have been injured or worse.

Ongoing issues with the engine transimission. After 3 dealership visits, problem was duplicated at bob mayberry hyundai-monroe, nc.we were told this was a known problem and "fix/part" was coming in march/april 2020.i was never contacted. Continued to drive the car until finally got fed up with the same issue.i went to other dealership (keffer hyundai-charlotte, nc.). Was told they had to replicate but tech could not.(repair invoice states they drove the car 1 mile!) (the dealership was told this was an intermitent problem).the problem is when driving very slow in stop & go traffic, the car jumps similar to someone learning to drive a stick shift and have problems with the clutch. I was at a stop sign one day...at a complete stop.i proceeded to move forward and the car stopped about 3 feet after moving.had i pulled out if there was alot of traffic, i would not have had time to move in the road.i do not have all invoices from first dealership (bob mayberry hyundai-monroe,nc), but they will have everything in their system. I can request this documentation if needed.

I was driving on a interstate got off on a exit and my car started doing a loud ticking noise and would not accelerate over 40 mph. I drove the car to get the car tested to see the problem .the code read knock sensor.got the knock sensor replaced by a local mechanic and the car drove the say way before i took it to his shop.the car only has 67,00 miles

The contact owns a 2018 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that several warning lights were illuminated on the instrument panel, including the check engine, oil and tire pressure warning lights. The vehicle was not taken to be diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.

A month ago my engine light stayed on and dealer said rodents had eaten electrical wires and insulation under the hoodcost over $600. To fix.today same thingand i opened the hood to find the entire engine area littered with chewed wires and insulation. The soy based wiring coating needs a safety recall,

Recall has be open for 5 months dealer has not fixedcalled national hyundai and told i have to chase down the correct part number to fix their recall

I was made aware of the recall on certain hyundai tucson's 4 months after the recall was originally published in september 2020. I was also not made aware from hyundai, but from carfax via email. When i researched the next steps and made an appointment to have the issue remedied. I received a text the evening before my appointment that there is not a remedy for this recall yet.

Warning light on dashboard board goes on and off constantly indicating rear brake light needs attention. When warning light is on, brake light does not work. When warning light turns off, brake light works. This happens when car is on and constantly at random times even when i'm stationary.also, when i'm stopped, car tugs like it wants to accelerate.

Once my brand new tucson hit 500 miles on it, itsuddenly unintentionally accelerates while my foot isalready pressing firmly on the break pedal.the first time, it happened as i was approaching the peak of a hill. I was going 25 mph. My foot was already pressing on the breaks, anticipating the decline, when my car jolted forward and took off. My foot slammed on the breaks even harder, however i watched my speedometer hit 40 mph while simaltaneously,my rpm decreased to 1... (yes, down a hill.) for about 5-7 seconds therpm and seppdometer would not increase or decrease once hitting 40 mph and 1 rpm. I had to lean over the wheel and slam my breaks to the floor before i regained control of the vehicle. Once this occurred, the car lagged, struggling to accelerate throughoutthe remainder of the drive (all flat roads). It is now day 5 of experiencing this, and it now occurs multiple times every time the vehicle is in motion, whether breaks are being applied prior, or not, regardless of the type of road i am on (flat, hill etc.) i was exiting a parking garage that had a mediocre ramp to exit the garage. My vehicle was going 12 mph when i turned right to proceed down the ramp. My foot slowly pressed the break pedal, and my vehicle accelerated to 28 mph, and maintained that speed for 3 seconds, before responding to my breaks. Yes, my foot had the breaks pressed all the way down. Another example, yesterday i was on a flat road driving at27 mph when it suddenly accelerated to 45mph, and the rpm dropping suddenly from 2, to 1. After a few seconds of my foot slammed on the breaks i regained control and pulled the car over. I turned the engine off and waited about 5 minutes. When i turned it back on, and began driving (3 minutes left in my drive),the car continued to lag, lunge forward, and could not reach speeds higher than 30 mph. This car is brand new.

When hyundai santa fe pass or near by 2018 tucson, blind spot sensor suddenly turn off automatically for while. Then some time pass(maybe more than 30min), it turns back on. It only effects certain years of santa fe.

As stated in many forums by many owners,in my case the 2.0 with automatic. I have a 2014 kia soul and the 2018 tuscon. Both vehicles act the same, hesitate when they want to. Both have done this since brand new and neither dealership has made an effort to fix the problem. There has been several very close calls hesitating like this in heavy city traffic.also be on the lookout for a lawsuit settlement on 2018 tucson.

Hyundai 2018 had a oil leak issue due to a faulty oil pan. The oil pan was sealed by the dealership. This did not seem to fix the issue causing the oil to drain on the freeway and seize the engine. I was coasting on the freeway with no power from the engine. We were scared for our dear lives.

I have been reaching out to auto nation where i purchased my 2018 hyundai tucson while driving on the highway there was a swishing noise and sputtering the car just stopped i was however able to get on the off ramp the car was towed which cost me 528.00 to get out had he re-towed to an auto body shop and the engine rod blew out and up making a good size hole in the oil pan now i have to pay 120.00 diagnostics charges but they do not think hyundai will pay for repairs so i'm paying for a car that is completely incapacitated.i was reading on your reports concerning hyundai and kia the law suit for their slow response but to this day i have not received any information regarding this problem your knowledge and report on the engine problem and rod is exactly what has happened to my hyundai except it hasn't caught on fire as of yet my understanding is park it away from everything as just being parked it can still catch on fire.i need help on this matter... Thank you i have been trying to get this resolved since march 2021

Car constantly hesitates when starting to accelerate. When you begin to accelerate from a stop, the car hesitates for several seconds before beginning to move. This is very dangerous when making turns at stop lights or in intersections. Going at highway speed the car runs fine and accelerates without issue. The problem is when at slow speeds or at a stop and you need to accelerate. Also, when going slow or slowing down to a stop, the car sees like it is going to stall and the engine/transmission begins to jerk as if it is about to stall. When driving through a parking lot at slow speeds with some quick on/off breaking, the car hesitates and feels like it is going to stall.

Same dual clutch problem as on 2016 hyundai tucson.hesitates for several seconds prior to engaging which causes significant danger in oncoming traffic.i had this same problem with the 2016 and hyundai continued to deny any known problems.now there is a class action lawsuit regarding this issue.i traded my 2016 in for the 2018 to get away from the problem because i was so scared.now i have the same problem with the new car.this problem is ongoing.also i was coasting with foot not on the pedal and not in cruise control and the rpm's shot up to 4200 then down to normal, then back up to 2200 and then back to normal.very scary.had clutch engaged car would have shot forward into car in front of me.dealer has acknowledged trouble with both problems and informed me that hyundai has switched clutch manufacturers.

Delayed acceleration from stop. Very unsafe when making a left hand turn as it will take up to 10 seconds for the car to accelerate. This happens often but not always. Ido not feel safe driving this car.

44,000 miles on car. While driving on highway noticed an 18 wheeler three feet behind me, tried to accelerate and nothing happened. Right before the car started making a noise, luckily no one was in the right lane so i coasted to the median. I was just informed the car needs an engine. Two days before i heard a fluttering sound and the car seemed to have trouble accelerating.

I purchased my 2018 hyundai tucson limited 1.6l forward drive new in november 2018. I started experiencing problems a few weeks after my purchase. The vehicle is slow to accelerate at times and other times the vehicle lurches/accelerates forward at a high rate of speed with my foot on the brake pedal. For instance, i was at a drive thru with my foot on the brake pedal and my tucson began to accelerate forward. I was so afraid that i was going to hit the car in front of me that i turned the vehicle off. On numerous occasions it has lurched/accelerated forward with my foot on the brake pedal. Other times when i begin to accelerate after stopping at a stop light the vehicle just hesitates to move at all. It is very slow to accelerate for a turbo vehicle. Concerning my brakes, my brakes are making a high pitch squealing sound. I have taken my tucson in for service for the brake issue, and i have been told that there is nothing wrong and that is the noise that tucson brakes make. Brakes do not make a high pitch squealing noise for no reason at all. Also, i took my tucson to be serviced for the engine/transmission problem and i was told that there was nothing that they could do about the problem. This suv is a deathtrap. The 2018 tucson 1.6l needs to be recalled and the engine replaced with a 2.4l engine and the brake system needs to be redesigned.

I changed engine oil a month ago and still have 500mile left until re-change, but after when i went shopping the engine sound was bad so i checked the engine oil status and there were no engine oil at all. This was not first time, doing this. I heard hyundai engine eat some oil, but it is kind of dangerous if i didnt check the status.

So i purchased my car march of 2019. It first started off really good but than a few months later the car has been having a issue with keeping oil i had it checked numerous times and no one seems to find the issue. I could literally get oil changed and within three four weeks my engine is empty and sound really rough. The car stalls and my rpm goes up out of the blue as if i hit the gas. I'm even having a issue with take off for it to be a brand new car my car take forever to pick up speed and some times it act as if it don't want to move.

The transmission severely lags in the initial transition into first gear, as well as from first to second. When initially engaging into first gear from reverse, the car rumbles and chops into first gear. Although this is a dual clutch car, it severely lags into acceleration, causing a major safety hazard, especially on the freeway. We have taken the car to the dealer for repairs but they hide behind the excuse that this is a dual clutch transmission. The issue first occurred at around 500 miles. It has only gotten worse since.

I was driving my vehicle and heard a loud knocking in the engine compartment. I pulled over and turned the car off. I was afraid to keep driving it since i didnt know what the issue was. My car was towed back home. I had a technician check my car and i was told the motor had blown up. My car only has around 67,000 miles on it. I have been informed by the tow company that this has happened to many people with the same type of vehicle that i have. I have not seen any recalls but did find that a previous model was burning oil and damaged the motor.

My car has 20,000 miles on it. 2 months ago around18,000 miles my car started to hesitate during acceleration. It started as only sometimes. Now it happens every time i drive it . When it is stopped and i push on the gas to go it hesitates. The rpms shoot up to 5-6 then it goes. This is dangerous especially if you are crossing several lanes of traffic. Also when in motion and you need to accelerate it will hesitate as well. I brought it to the dealership as it's under warrant and was told it's the dct and many people have complained. And it's normal. I disagree because if it was normal then it would have done this when i first purchased the car.

I get oil changes quite frequently due to the mileage i put in a vehicle.i have 7 oil changes/tire rotations between november 2018 and november 2019.on november 13th 2019 my check engine like came on and at the same time my engine started making a knocking sound. Prior to this i had no indicators that anything was wrong.i immediately took it to the dealership and was informed that i need a new engine and that it's not covered under the warranty since i am the second owner. And that it's going to cost about $10,000 for a new engine which includes labor.did i miss something here. My car is my livelihood and i have gotten every required maintenance.they said my car is burning through oil at a high rate of speed. There were zero signs of an oil leak and everything looked find other than the vehicle had no oil.why didn't my vehicle alert me of this.why wasn't there any indication until it was too late. Where the hell did all the oil go?? now i'm stuck with a high car payment for a vehicle i can not even drive plus because i need my car for my work i had to be let go from my job.can't work without a vehicle can pay for $10,000 in repairs without a job and can't pay my car payment without working. I don't know what to do.this is just ridiculous especially since i have done everything hyundai suggests as far as maintence (frequent oil changes and systems checks on a regular basis.hyundai says 'sorry there's nothing we can do for you, you have to pay to replace the engine.'.

The vehicle shut off while driving on the highway and would not start back up.

I have a 2018 hyundai tucson with less then 75000 miles that i have just had for a year that suddenly started knocking after having it check at the dealership they informed me there was bearing material in my oil and that i would need to replace the engine. The extended warranty refused to cover as i was unable to provide all maintenance records for the last year. The dealership is unable to locate a new or refurbished engine and cannot provide a predicted date one would be available. I reached out to autozone to see if i can purchase an engine from them and they stated it says na when they entered my vin so they would not be able to provide an engine at all. So i am paying for a vehicle that i can't drive because it needs an engine but i also can't buy an engine?!

Car was slowly entering garage and came to a full stop with brake pedal depressed in gear. Car without warning, engine revved up to full power and crashed in garage. I am alleging condition known as sudden unintended acceleration. I have had the damage repaired and the cost of repair was over $4,000.00. Pictures available upon request. Hyundai performed an inspection on vehicle upon my demand to do so. When report came in, i was refused a copy of exact report by inspector and only given a summary by company agent. When i asked for the exact inspector report to be read to me over the phone, that request was denied as well.

The vehicle would not operate in drive or reverse from a parked position.

Motor knocking with only 65,000 miles. Not getting power

Was driving on highway and engine started making a knocking noise for what seemed like 10 seconds then a loud boom and blew dark smoke out the back and engine stopped. I shifted into neutral and coasted off the freeway. Rear windshield and tailgate were covered in oil, at least it was clean, i had changed it a few days prior. Towed to shop and once on the lift the rod sticking out through the block was a shock to say the least. 14 months ago i replaced the engine after severe oil leaks led to the block warping. That was $6000 that hyundai declined to cover. Put a used theta engine in and everything was good until this. Obviously hyundai isn't going to cover this either. Have had the car for two years and still owe over $10k on loan. I'm about to pay for another theta engine that is coming from the same model year as the previous two. I feel insane doing this, like i'm asking for it to happen again but no other options.

When accelerating from a stop at very slow speed the engine sputterscausing the car to shake and nearly die. Like when someone is first learning to drive a stick shift.it mainly happens when driving in parking lots looking for a space. However it has happened intermittently when accelerating from a stop light. My wife doesn't feel safe driving this vehicle. Many have complained about this issue. The problem has existed since we took possession july 2018 and has worsened. The manufacturer will deny this problem exists. It needs to be addressed. No problem with highwaydriving.

The contact owns a 2018 hyundia tuscon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, a loud knocking noise was present coming from the engine compartment and the vehicle suddenly lost power and stalled. Moments later smoke and flames were present coming from the engine. The fire department was called to the scene and extinguished the flames. The vehicle was destroyed and towed away. A police and fire report was taken at the scene. The cause of the failure was not determined. The local dealer len stoler located at 11275 reisterstown rd, owings mills, md and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 34,400.

Vehicle caught fire while driving on the highway.

On six different occassions my vehicle has stalled out while reaching speeds of up to 50mph. I have taken it back to the dealership on 3 separate occasions to be told there is nothing mechanically wrong with the vehicle. On 8/25/3020 it stalled again and caused me to be rear ended. I am terrified to operate this vehicle on public road ways now.

The vehicle when temp is set to high heat then switched to 75 degrees there is a strong coolant smell that comes from the hvac system. It makes me nauseous while driving. Took to dealership where they said they can duplicate the issue. Called hyundai customer care and they called once and i missed it and emailed them and called and no one has contacted me back. Coolant is hazardous to breath in and they don't take it as a serious matter

I have a 2018 hyundai tucson. We heard knocking noise in the engine while driving at night and then the car failed to accelerate. We were able to get to the side of the road without crashing. We had it towed to a shop. The shop says that the engine had knocking noise were rod bearings and there was coolant/antifreeze in the engine block.

On the way to taking my son to the hospital, the car stopped working, delaying the medical care i needed for my son after being attacked by a pitbull. It was then towed to the dealership who regularly services the car. They stated it was the motor. Stated i need a new one. Stated it failed due to missing the oil change by two weeks. There were no warning signs/signals or anything coming from the car that would have caused me to bring the car in sooner.

At times, while driving with the transmission in drive, the vehicle hesitates to accelerate after being stopped, as at a red traffic signal.when this happens, pressing the accelerator pedal to the floor will start the vehicle moving forward 'very' slowly for about 3 seconds, then it will take off with full power until accelerator pedal is let off.when this hesitation occurs, the engine does not sound or feel like it is straining, or misfiring at all, it seems more like the computer is not sending the engine the signal to rev up and go, hence having to floor it to get it to move.this condition is extremely dangerous, to the point i avoid having to make left turns at traffic light intersections, because i never know when the vehicle is going to exhibit this behavior, but this can happen whether going straight, or making a right-hand turn.this vehicle only has 1,253 miles at present, but this condition has been happening since it was driven off the lot new.

The car started making a loud noise my oil lamp light started flashing, after i stopped at a red light i accelerated then my alternator light came on the car died. Within seconds my car started smoking a white color lightly and then within minutes the smoke turned black and heavy then car caught on fire.

Driving on the highway in rush hour traffic at 65 mph the vehicle started knocking loudly then a loud boom and all this black smoke came from the back end. The vehicle engine seized and i was almost killed by a semi truck trying to get off the highway as the engine completely died.the vehicle was towed to the service department where i purchased it and they advised that the engine rod blew a huge hole in my engine and it was no good.the vehicle had only 61k miles practically brand new.opened a case with hyundai and they basically told me i had no warranty.this is a defect in the engine.also there are two other same make model and year that were also up at the service station for the exact same issue and with low miles and hyundai refused to make the matter right by replacing the motors.this is not right and ripping off the american consumer.7300$ for a replacement motor and the vehicle is practically new with the low miles i have.

The engine feel as if it's going to turn off when coming to a brake or braking softly after the car's been running for about 5 minutes. I've taken it to different dealers and noone finds whats wrong with it. No check engine signs show or repair codes show when checked. I don't know what it could.

I have a 2018 hyundai tucson and it cut off on me while returning home from out of town on 4/5/2020 on 495 capital beltway.white smoke started coming out the tailpipe so i pulled over and cut the truck off, i tried to restart and it wouldn't turn over, all of the dash lights lit up, i had to call aaa to tow me home, the tow driver noticed oil under the truck and even after he towed me and put my truck on the street there was oil on his flatbed.this truck has a default with the oil plug or something, i keep up on my oil changes every 3 months, there was no warning on the dash about low oil or anything before it started smoking.something is wrong with how this truck burns oil and it needs to be investigated.now i have a truck sitting that i can;t drive and still have to pay a car note on.

This is my 2nd issue with this vehicle. Ever since i bought the vehicle i have always noticed that when i come to a complete stop (at a red light or stop sign) and i go to press on the gas the car doesn't go. It's like it hesitated before it starts to pick up speed.i always chalked it up to the fact that it was a 4 cylinder but after speaking to my mechanic i find out that this is not normal and can be the sign of a serious problem. There is currently no fix for this.

The car will not go into reverse.

At 72000 miles engine started knocking and loss power. Took to dealer was told the # 3 cylinder had an problem and the engine was blown. Was given an estimate of 13,700 for a new engine. That the cost of the car.

We bought a brand new 2018 hyundai tucson in june 2018. It had 1700+ miles on it in november 2018. We have a major problem with the headlights, which we noted recently while driving on some dark roads. We can't see down the road when we are driving on dark roads. We can't see bends in the road ahead of us. The headlights shine out about 30 feet, then it's pitch black after that. We have a difficult time just finding the entrance to our driveway. We are afraid to drive at night because it's so dangerous. The car has been taken in to the dealer twice & we are taking it back for the 3rd time. This is a major safety issue. The headlights are not doing the job & the dealer can't seem to fix it. After looking online, this seems to be a major problem with hyundai & other brands with the new led lights. This needs to be on a recall list. Please help. Accident prevention is cheaper than a funeral. You need to investigate this. Thank you.

The contact owns a 2018 hyundai tucson. While driving 45 mph, the headlights failed to function. The contact had to activate the high beam headlights to see the road. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to nassief hyundai (located at 1059 state rte 46 north, jefferson, oh 44047, (440) 576-1010), but was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 18,000.

Drivers side low beam doesn't work after changing bulb. Fuse good

Bought the car new from dealer this past may. Car is equipped with high intensity discharge headlights with dynamic bending light. We have not done much night driving until recently we drove on the open highway where there wasn't much surrounding light. When turning around a curve in the highway there was a black band across the pavement approximately 100 feet in front of us and the extending well past the edge of pavement. When we got back in town driving down a residential street, the solid black rectangle appeared a couple of hundred feet in front of the car and appeared to be to 2-3 feet in height. When we drove through a more lighted area there was no solid black rectangle, but it appeared somewhat gray with 2 inverted half-moon shaped dark spots seemingly in line with the headlights. The hyundai service manager showed us another car, and it had the same issue with the headlights. It is a very dangerous condition and apparently is coming from the alignment of the dynamic bending light housing. Nighttime vision is severely impaired on our vehicle.

The contact owns a 2018 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the contact switched to the high beams and was temporarily blinded by the reflection off the highway sign. The vehicle was taken to suresky hyundai located at 2 hatfield ln, goshen, ny 10924, (845) 648-3285, where the headlamps were adjusted. The vehicle was repaired however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 16,000.

I received a safety recall that the abs modules may corrode and possibly cause fire. I took car to dealer immediately and was told parts are on order and they gave me an appointment for april 26..7 weeks away..i was told to park my car outside of its secured garage until part comes in. I think this is unexceptable & now i may have to spend money to rent a car to drive to louisiana for an upcoming planned trip???why would hyundai issue this danger and then not have parts to fix ?

This is my 2nd issue with this vehicle. Ever since i bought the vehicle i have always noticed that when i come to a complete stop (at a red light or stop sign) and i go to press on the gas the car doesn't go. It's like it hesitated before it starts to pick up speed.i always chalked it up to the fact that it was a 4 cylinder but after speaking to my mechanic i find out that this is not normal and can be the sign of a serious problem. There is currently no fix for this.

After starting my car there is a strong smell of gasoline, at different times, but not consistently. The smell of gas is very strong in the cabin area even while driving.sometimes, once thevehicle has been started there is a strong smell of fuel coming from the exhaust pipe area.i have reported this to the dealership, was told nothing was found, per camelback hyundaidealership in phoenix arizona (12/29/20).

Around 1500 ,iles the car started to either stall completely or "jump" forward in al drivemodes, took to dealership , they said it has to do with transmission being essentially a standard. They told us they reset the computer and it needs this occasionally. Really never heard of that.our gasmileage is also constanlty going down. Not happy with the constantsudden accelertion especially when merging onto interstates. Bought this thing brand new feb 2018.

The vehicle shut off while driving on the highway and would not start back up.

Vehicle caught fire while driving on the highway.

I have bought this vehicle last year. There is a loud noise when i take off after i have started the car and go. I have taken it in they told me it is the gear shifter. [xxx]. This car has no power when you take off and the brakes have squeaked since day 2.i have taken it in and they have scraped the brakes 3 times. I have complained and thought it was just me until i have read more complaints. This car needs recalled or you need to give people their money backparts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I purchased my new car 8 months ago with 2 miles on it. I am scared to death to pull out from red lights if anyone is even insight at times.it seems as though it just doesnt want to go at all. I can floor the gas and it hesitates for few seconds as the rpms are very high all you get is a roll into traffic. It makes me so nervous at times driving this vehicle. Worse mistake buying this vehicle and worse part is i will be stuck in as its not worth half of what i owe already.this should be something discussed before signing or not on the market to sell at all

Dual clutch automatic transmission started having problems around 5k miles.the car has 15k currently.the following problem occurs about 2-3 time daily under normal driving 10-20 miles per day on surface routs.from stop to accelerating in 1st gear there is a much longer than safe lag time between the gas pedal being depressed to the car actually gaining in speed.it seems like the transmission is in neutral and then shifts hard into first gear.it does not matter how lightly or firmly the pedal is depressed.it is a large concern for me and my family that the car will not accelerate or perform as expected when the gas pedal is depressed.we have taken the vehicle to the dealership with no results or improvements.they stated that all hyundai/ kia dual clutch automatic transmissions have that problem- stating that we should deal with it or trade to another vehicle.

My vehicle bucks when first pulling out. Like a manual transmission.

Transmission fails to shift properly.had this issue since around 15k miles purchased vehicle brand new and complained multiple times dealer wouldn't do anything until around 55k miles replaced dual clutch and problem had come back after 5k miles and dealer says nothings wrong... I feel unsafe in a brand new car with regular maintenance... Help

While driving and then coming to a temporary stop such as waiting for a red light to turn green or right on red or making a left turn; then i step on the accelerator to drive, then about 20 yards or so into the movement of the car, the car stops moving but the engine is still running.it delays for anywhere between 2 and 5 seconds, just enough time for cars to be coming right at you.it happened twice in one week, once the week before and once recently, the same day i took the car back to the dealer to see what was wrong.it has happened here and there in the several months that i have owned it, but seems to be getting more pronouncedwhere i am noticing it more. I almost got hit from behind twice and almost got "t-boned" when making a left turn.the service department says it did not do it when they took it out (i told them it doesn't do it all the time and it probably won't for them.)they said there are no bulletins out or recalls and no codes show up when they tested it.well i did research and found that the tucson has had many past problems like this (literally hundreds, if not thousands)and the manufacturer was ignoring pleas from desperate owners because nothing was being addressed. Hyundai finally admitted to problems with the 2016 and 17 tucsons and did a recall.i feel that this is a very serious safety issue, especially when i am now afraid to make left and right turns keeping in my mind that this car is going to hesitate, stall, delay, whatever you want to call it. 5500 hundred miles on it and i paid thousands of dollars to buy it, i don't feel safe making turns and feel that this issue needs to be addressed and quickly before someone (i hope not myself also)) gets injured or killed.

The contact owns a 2018 hyundai tucson. The contact stated while at a complete stop, the vehicle hesitated while depressing the accelerator pedal. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact called the manufacturer and the dealer and was informed that the vin was not under recall.the vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 47,000.

Startingat about 12000 miles,my car will at times fail to accelerate from.a stop. It happened again today and i had to jam the pedal down and my car revved to 7000rpm before it would actually accelerate. It kept doing this the whole rest of the time i was out and it was very dangerous since i was driving on a highway and couldn't get my car to accelerate. I took it to the dealership and they claimed there was no problem. This is very dangerous!

Car not shifting properly. Took to dealership and kept getting a response of the car have a dual clutch.

Car fails to accelerate more than the speed of maybe rolling through a stop sign when you are at a stop sign you cannot accelerate and it is very dangerous to people behind you that will smash into you and then you have to floor the gas pedal and worry about crashing into somebody in front of you.i have taken it to the dealer and they said there is no problem and they can't find anything therefore they can't fix it. I am moving to florida where it is hot and humid all the time which is seems that that is when the problem happens. I would like a new vehicle if they can't fix it i find this completely ridiculous and i can't believe there hasn't been a recall on it yet as there are many many complaints throughout the internet

Leased a new 2018 hyundai tucson limited from a local dealer.noted the hesitation in the acceleration when test driving.salesmen said brand new engine, gas, etc, most likely will work its way out in driving with new refill of gas.noticed problem all the way home after purchase.contacted dealer next day after filling tank with same issue, their response "its a noted hyundai usa tucson transmission issue".thats it!reported to hca (hyundai consumer affairs), had a case number assigned via automated mail.no call, no mail from anyone at hyundai to address the assigned complaint #.filed another complaint, received a new case number, hyundai contacted me with no info on my case, my documents sent or no knowledge of the transmission issues with their tuscon 1.6l turbo, 7 speed engine/transmissions.took them 3 months to fully respond to second case number assigned due to many phone calls and mails to them on the case and no response on resolution to this hazardous issue with the transmission. Pending regional case worker to be assigned to assess the transmission at the same dealer where purchased. *dt

When driving through a parking lot at slow speeds with some quick on/off breaking, the car hesitates and feels like it is going to stall.

, from a stop, when you move forward, you press on the accelerator the car hesitates to move forward then all of the sudden if reves high and then speed faster than it should,i have called the dealership two times, the vehicle has 11,000 miles on it and has never been in an accident. Something with the dual-clutch system is having issues and will lead to death. The vehicle does it intermittently, so you can not predict it when it will have an issue, at min, it does this frequently.

Vehicle severely hesitates to accelerate from a stop while in traffic (gear shift is in drive position). Fails to accelerate when making left turns to avoid oncoming traffic. Problem persists regardless of driving mode selection.

When shifting gears, ie p to r or r to d or p to d, the car jerks / catches. Some have called it "turbo lag". It's definitely most noticeable at a dead stop. I have experienced this "lag" while backing up out of a parking spot and then trasferring to drive, as well as being at a dead stop at a stop sign / red light, and then accelerating. Both experiences have been in the city, highway, turning, and local roads. I don't know what has caused or what is causing this issue. Perhaps it's the torque converter? i bought this car new in nov 2018 and have had this issue since jan 2019. I have had other people drive my car and they have also experienced this issue. Other hyundai tuscon drivers have also experienced this issue, and have discussed it at this website: https://www.carcomplaints.com/hyundai/tucson/2018/transmission/will_not_accelerate.shtml

The car will not go into reverse.

When i went to accelerate out of a business drive way, the car hesitated at least 1-3 seconds before engagng the transimission to acclerate the vehicle out of the driveway into traffic.as i was turning out of the driveway, i was almost struck by an oncoming vehicle.i was in 2 other separate incidents either accclerating to get into a lane or accelerating from a stopped position almost causing accidents because of this problem. I was so scared, i traded the 2017 tuscon in for a 2018 tuscon hoping the problem would be solved.it did not.it happens in the 2018 tuscon less often, but more intermittently making it even more dangerous as you do not know when or if its going to happen and be able to react appropriately.

Vehicle randomly slips out of gear when break is quickly depressed when rolling from a stop. Vehicle needs to be shut down and restarted. A very serious safety issue. Vehicle randomly fails to shift up when accelerating. Another very serious safety issue. Duel-clutch transmission is clearly defective as designed.

This transmission causes the car to not accelerate when it should, and when the transmission kicks is the car takes off to fast like it is out of control.some times the transmission makes the car jerk three to for times in stop and go traffic. This is unsafe and i'm weighting for some one to rear end me or me hitting someone else. I was making a left turn from a stop light and the car would not accelerate and half way thru the turn the car took off on me but i got it under control. I cant let my wife drive this car and that is a shame because we bout it for her to drive. This car is unsafe to drive and all i get from the hyundai dealer is excuses.it goes to the service dept.10/6/18 again.

I have the 2018 tuscon limited 1.6t dct with no more than 12,000 miles. When accelerating from a stop or accelerating after braking and pressing the gas pedal normally, the car stops accelerating and the car slows down. This also happens after coming to a stop and turning onto a different street. When it happened to my wife she pulled over into the center turning lane, because the car would not accelerate and there were cars turning behind her. I have taken it in to have it serviced and they either applied an update or reset the transmissions computer; however, a few hundred miles later and it's doing it again. My wife is concerned that this will happen one day and will cause an accident; she said she does not feel safe driving this car anymore. My first vehicle was a manual and i know how a manual drives and how they accelerate after shifting. I understand that a dct may have similar behaviors. However, this would be similar to someone holding in the clutch on a manual and not being able to shift gears, grinding them, causing the vehicle to not accelerate and any vehicle behind them to stop or slow down suddenly. We love the car, but the transmission makes us feel unsafe and hopefully we do not get into an accident due to this dct issue. I have also contacted hyundai directly about this and i am supposed to be receiving a call from hyundai consumer affairs in 3-5 business days.

Has developed inttermintant shift stutter while driving (city and hightway) and dealyed power from a stop (no go syndrome). The problem isgetting worse and the hyundai hasn't been able to fix it.

I purchased a 2018 tucson in a november, recently i have noticed that the vehicle struggles to accelerate.i will contact the dealership tomorrow but i see that i'm not the only one that seems to be experiencing this problem.it seems to be getting worse.it's a hazard especially when driving in the freeway.

The dual clutch, 7 speed automatic transmission in my 2018 hyundai tucson does not always move the car.when pulling out of a driveway, intersection, or crossing oncoming traffic lanes the car will stop moving while partially in the street/intersection.it will not move, the engine rpm's rev up and then all of a sudden the car lunges forward.i am afraid that a car approaching me may not stop in time and run into me, even though i had plenty of time to make the turn.i took the car to the dealer on 9/24/2019 and they said they were 'unable to duplicate the issue'.i returned the car to the dealer for the same issue on 5/5/20.the car was returned to me after 6 weeks and the dealer stated they replaced the transmission and dual clutch assembly with a new unit and i was informed that this may not resolve the original issue.on 6/24/20 the car was returned to the dealer for the same issue and the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem.at no point did hyundai tell me they've had ongoing issues with their dual clutch transmission.it was my own research and contacting another dealer that i was told hyundai is aware of the problem and has no current solution to resolve the matter.

The 2018 hyundai tucson sel has an intermittent issue when accelerating from a stopped position. The engine will rev up, but idle forward for about 3-5 seconds, until the vehicle goes. This does not happen consistently. The dealership has reset the programming on the transmission 2x. There are other individuals online that are experiencing similar intermittent issues with their 2018 hyundai tucson. In june 2019, i was almost struck by a vehicle while i was completing a left hand turn on green when an oncoming vehicle decided to run the light. This has happened numerous times. On 10/7/19 - i brought it back to the dealership again to ride with a technician. During the 30 minutes ride, i felt like i had replicated the issue slightly but the mechanic only asked me what kind of car i previously drove. When i checked out of the dealership, i asked for paperwork to document my encounter, even if the mechanic claimed it was unfounded - but was not provided with any and told that there was nothing to document.

Bought new. Vehicle has acceleration issues. Rpms skyrocket. If on downward slope, car will roll into intersection upon depressing pedal. On upward hill, car will hesitate, then suddenly jerk and take off. I have a rolled into an intersection trying to cross a 2-lane roadway and the car stopped. I have mentioned to dealership and they just say it's the way the dual clutch works. The dealership has done a factory reset. I will be good for about a day. Still no acceleration when needing to merge with traffic. This is a dangerous situation and feel hyundai needs to come up with a solution to fix these vehicles before someone loses a family member. I don't want it to be one of mine! or do a recall.

Vehicle failed to accelerate while merging into traffic, forcing engine to reach 6.5k rpm once it began to do so. Happens frequently. Many other complaints on same issue by various owners.

The contact owns a 2018 hyundai tucson. While stopped at a traffic light and attempting to avert being struck in the rear by another vehicle, the contact depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle hesitated to respond. After several seconds, the vehicle responded. The vehicle was taken to mike kelly hyundai (254 pittsburgh rd, suite b, butler, pa 16002, (724) 287-2701) on several occasions where it was diagnosed that the dct transmission operated as intended. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted on several occasions and informed of the failures. The manufacturer provided case numbers 12236015, 15808024, and 16248911. The approximate failure mileage was 5,000.

Mostly in the morning after the vehicle has sat all night and occasionally throughout the day after stopping at red lights or when leaving a parking lot. The vehicle will 'stall, shutter' or however else you want to describe a rapid jerking motion while trying to accelerate from a stop. It causes a delay in the ability to effectively and safely merge the vehicle into traffic at times.

Bought the vehicle new.the problem originally began as intermittent now occurring almost constantly. If vehicle is in a stopped position upon pressing the accelerator the vehicle does not move forward for up to one to 2 seconds.the rpm shows that the engine is revving but no motion. Then suddenly the vehicle will lurch forward.the amount of pressure applied to the accelerator does not make a difference in the vehicle response time.i am very concerned about the safety of this vehicle as the vehicle will not accelerate when necessary.i have brought in the vehicle for repairs of this problem twice and was told that hyundai knows of the problem but because the issue is not extreme enough nothing can be done.i do not believe that the vehicle can be operated safely given the current defect.

When the vehicle is at a complete stop it will have issues going when i push on the gas. It takes a few seconds to go and it will jerk forward and then go. It doesn't happen every time but it is often enough that it's worry some and could be unsafe.

The contact owns a 2018 hyundai tucson. The contact stated while idle another vehicle driving approximately 55 mph crashed into their vehicle from the rear causing them to rear end the vehicle in front of them. The contact stated the seat belt failed to retract. The air bags did not deploy. The contact hit his face on the steering wheel. The passenger received shoulder injuries. Others involved did not received injuries. The contact and the passenger received medical attention. The vehicle was towed and has not been officially deemed totaled as of yet. A police report was filed.the contact had not contacted the dealership. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage 24,000.

Recall for anti-lock brakes hydraulic electronic control unit (hecu) has been known since at least 01/12/21 but notice not received until 03/12/21.dealer does not have parts in stock, with no estimated delivery time, so vehicle continues to be at risk for engine compartment fire.this documents hyundai's failure to address serious safety situation.

I was pulling into a parking spot in a shopping parking lot and stepped on the brake to stop, but the brakes failed and the car kept going and would not stop, ultimately rolling up over the curb onto the grass area and crashed into the concrete light post. The car was towed to the hyundai dealer in laguna niguel ca 92677 949-485-3700 ( steve pacheco ) service advisor

Got a phone call yesterday (1-26-2021) from hyundai dealer telling me there is a recall on my vehicle with the anti-lock brake hydraulic electronic unit (hecu). Was told that my vehicle needs to be parked outside of the garage, due to a possible compartment fire. I haven't received a notice from hyundai. Customer rep at dealership was very in-professional and rude. Now i'm afraid to drive my car!!..dealer was trying to real me in to try to sell me a new car, which i'm in no position to do such at this time. Is this recall something that can be addressed? please reply....

My car was purchased from enterprise leasing in may 2019.i was not told about the recall #195 which is a safety issue and can result with the car on fire.according to your website a plan to solve the problem was submitted to you on may 16, 2018 before the car was sold to me.i was never informed about the recall by hyundai.i found out about the recall from a friend.upon notifying hyundai they have yet to provide a solution to a serious problem.my wife is now concerned for her safety and has serious stress issues if she has to drive this car.we have had three people at the hyundai corporate office tell us there is a solution but the service department at ebersole hyundai says there is no fix for the problem.actually making the car a safety hazard tp drove/we are told that because we bought the car from enterprise leasing and not directly from hyundai there is nothing they can do for us.i feel that there has been serious fraud that took place when selling us this car since it was already declared to be unsafe with a potential fire hazard.

Recall on my 2018 tuscon brakes, brakes were acting odd and my daughter utimately ended up rolling and totalling it in oct 2020. In march 2021, we received a recall notice for brakes.she had mentioned the brakes acting funny, but only having 18k miles. We assumed it was still newness.she received a head injury and sest belt sores on her hips.

The parts to fix this recall are backordered. They have been for the past 6 months and owners don't know when the parts will be available. In the meantime, we risk having our cars start a fire which can lead to severe damage and/or death.sep 04,2020manufacturer recall number195nhtsa recall number20v543000recall status: recall incompletesummaryhyundai motor america (hyundai) is recalling certain 2016-2021 tucson vehicles. This is too long of a time for these types of issues. I am not blaming the shops, there is only so much they can do. But, more assistance should have been offered to them to meet the needs of this issue. I called the morning after i got the notice.

I was driving at 730 am with not very many people on the road.and my car was loud like a window was rolled down.and i saw something fly off the roof of my car like a sheet of ice, but it was in the 50's outside.i tried rolling the windows up, but they were all rolled up.and i kept hearing rumblings over my head.i waited til i was back on a surface street at a stop light and opened the sunroof and saw that my sunroof was broken and the rumblings were the pieces of glass that had shattered.i just had my vehicle's safety inspection done on 11/05/2020 by triple a.

The trunk hatch opens up without warning and without us pressing the open trunk button on the remote. This has happened several times when the car has been stationary and when we were driving out of a parking lot. The trunk even opened on it's own while the remote had been placed upright on the ground! also the trunk opened on it's own when it was parked in our garage with the engine off and as we have a low garage door, the paintwork was scratched on the trunk door when it opened up against it. On 4/5/19 we took the car to don wood hyundai at 810 state street, athens oh for them see if they could find what was wrong with the hatch and remote, but they could not duplicate the problem while it was there.

Lag and than quick acceleration upon take off. Rpm revs to2000, but power serge comes a few seconds later. Just bought this car, have not returned it for testing yet, but now understand hyundai knows about this problem, but has no solution.could be a hugh safety hazzard.

I was driving down the highway when i heard a very loud pop... I pulled over to inspect the car... The panoramicsun roof had shattered for no apparent reason.. No cars werein front of me or behind me... I saw no debris on the car or in the road... The road was paved..i was really at a lost as to what could have happened to it.. Until i started researching online and found out that it happens to these sunroof occasionally.. I am working with hyundai now trying to get them to repair it... It really should be a recall...

My car will excelerate with no warning

On 18 august 2021, i had a recall fixed on my hyundai tucson. The recall is now fixed, however hyundai has not removed the recall record against the vin. I have been trying ever since to speak to someone from hyundai usa to get the recall cleared, however they refuse to escalate the issue internally and give no answers regarding how it can be fixed. I'd like to lodge a complaint because i am selling the vehicle shortly and need the recall to be cleared asap so that i can register and sell it.

Hyundai issued a recall with a replacement part needed to prevent an engine fire.when the dealership and corporate were contacted, was told they only have a remedy for the 2019-2021 and no remedy yet for the 2018 model, which is mine.said they can't guarantee the car isn't dangerous and dealership told me to contact consumer affairs to open a case and see what they will do about replacing the car.

The contact owns a 2018 hyundai tucson. On several occasions, while driving approximately 1 mph and attempting to make a left turn, the accelerator pedal was depressed; however, the vehicle failed to respond. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was pumped 5-6 times before the vehicle responded. The vehicle was taken to faulkner hyundai (11500 roosevelt blvd, philadelphia, pa 19116, (215) 673-7462) to be diagnosed and the contact was informed that the vehicle performed as intended. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure recurred three times. The contact stated that the failure only occurred during left turns. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 300.

The vehicle is experiencing severe intermittent failures to accelerate. Failures occurr from a stop and while in motion. All gear levels appear to be affected. Failures were first noticed at approximately 7000 miles.

The windshield of my 2018 tuscon cracked without anything hitting it. The car was parked on my driveway
