I was just driving normal speed and my airbag light came on and stayed on.i went to the dealership and informed me my driver side airbag clock spring is faulty.they are saying it isn't under my warranty, when i bought the vehicle brand new in 2010 i was told i had a bumper to bumper warranty for the first 10 years or 100,000 miles whichever came first.why should i have to pay for the dx testing and the clock spring and installation for a part that is out of my control of being faulty, that isn't fair and the warranty you are saying is very misleading.
On 6/14 while driving on the expressway the airbags in my car deployed there wasn't any damage to my car. Took it in to carmax was told it detected a crash but no damage they couldn't believe it. Elgin hyundai looked at it and explained it had impact damage but they couldnt find anything wrong.
A truck pulled in front of me and i smashed the whole front of my car into them and my air bag did not deploy..updated 05/30/14the consumer stated the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was notified. The consumer received injuries to the neck back and hips. Updated 06/06/2014
The right passenger door will not lock. The electronic locking system on the doors started clicking, when i stopped and put the car in park. I was able to get the other doors to lock, but the right door stopped working.also the overhead night light is no working. The car istotally dark at night when i open the doors.
Sometimes when my car is parked in my garage all of the doors lock without me using the fob.i did have the dealer look at this issue, but they were not able to recreate my issue.so when i get my oil change i make sure the driver's side window is down,so the car doesn't lock on the mechanic with the keys inside.i also feel that my car doesn't get enough miles to the gallon and it should of been included in the last recall.
See oid 10434752. Same issue. Had problems getting vehicle into park.that issue appears resolved. However, one day the stereo was staying on for a few seconds after the car was turned off.two days later, there was no audio from the stereo, gps or bluetooth. They all appear to be working (radio changes stations/volume, gps operates normally and i can make calls using bluetooth), there is just no audio output. When i took the vehicle to the dealer, they did not do any diagnostics aside from turning on the stereo before telling me the stereo needed to be replaced and that is not under warranty, factory or extended. There have been some other unusual electrical issues like the turn signal remaining on after the lever went back to the off position and there being a delay or complete failure of the automatic headlights.
I was at a gas station and positioning my vehicle for fueling. The transmission shift lever got stuck and i couldn't move it to anywhere but neutral. During this time the esc and downhill brake control lights were on. Then i switched off the engine and restarted it, the problem seem to go off. Now it recurs very often at least 5 times a day even at low speeds ~25 mph on a dry road.
Oil pump went out and destroyed the engine

I purchase this vehicle on october 3,2014, two weeks later the check engine light came on. Took it to the hyundai dealer three times within that month for the same problem in which each time they were able to solve this issue (so we thought). On december 11,2014 a lil over two months later, the check engine light is now on again? taking the vehicle back to dealer today for check engine light and also to check front suspension, the drive on this vehicle has always felt very unstable and unsafe to me and with it being the winter months my safety as well as others is a must!very unsatisfied owner of the 2010 hyundai tucson, have not as of yet gotten a secure or comfortable drive out of this vehicle since purchase, far more the worst vehicle i have ever owned.
I first noticed white smoke coming from the back of my suv. I pulled into a store parking lot and tried to park. My main brakes failed.i then tried using my emergency brake. It too failed.white smoke started coming through the vents so i turned them away from me and tried shifting to park with no success. I then pressed the main brake again and was able to shift to park.then someone in the parking lot yelled, "your car's on fire! get out!" i grabbed my keys, cell phone and work badge and as i was getting out, black smoke began filling the cabin. Store employees tried to put out the fire with fire extinguishers with no success. Within 10 minutes the front half of the suv was engulfed in flames!i have no clue what could have caused the brakes to fail nor the reason for the engine to catch fire! i have video and photos for viewing.

I heard a clunk upon turning right, exiting a parking lot. The rear end of the car started to sway. Fearing a blown tire, i pulled off the road, only to find the left rear wheel pitched at a rather unhealthy angle. After towing the car to my local repair shop it was discovered that the rear cross member was rusted out. Apparently this is a fairly common occurrence in certain hyundai models. Although out of warranty, it seems like hyundai should be willing to address this issue of rust and stand by their vehicles.
Car would not go into gear - dashboard abs light, traction control light etc illuminated. Dealer could not diagnosis issue..........it has happen several times since but reset itself. Today 9/10/13 again it happened and i had to pop the shift lock to override and put it into gear.
The contact owns a 2010 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that while traveling various speeds, the vehicle suddenly lost acceleration power. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure could not be replicated. The manufacturer was contacted about the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 20,000.

When driving and occasionally hit a bump the icon (slippery) appears on the dash and later when you stop to back up to park the gears get stuck and you can't move it to the gear to backup. Since this car has stick shift and automatic driving features you have to keep shifting the years back and forth until it jumps back into reverse. This happens to frequently.
My problem with this tucson is in regards of "sudden unintended acceleration".it sporadically, on an almost daily basis we experience "sua" followed by immediately loses power and acceleration every time it's driven. Ex: driving on the freeway doing 70mph, it will lunge and the tachometer will race and suddenly loses power down to 35mph. Then has a lag accelerating afterwards. This is consistent through out the day since i commute a lot. Other issues, when engine on idle it feels like it's about to stall. We have taken this to the dealership 3 times and from their diagnosis, they don't see the problem. There is definitely a malfunction in the transmission and doing research i've found these issues with numerous tucson owners. We are concerned with our safety as we now have had a couple of close calls on the freeway.we bought this vehicle for safety and now are starting to question our safety due to this issue.
When traveling at about 35-40 mph, the vehicle sometimes does not engage when trying to automatically shift to the next gear. This causes the driver to lose all acceleration and essentially puts the vehicle into a coast. Tapping on the accelerator does nothing to engage the transmission again.however, after a few seconds or more, the transmission will finally engage.if you happen to have the accelerator pressed this will lurch the vehicle forward. If you happen to be behind another vehicle this could potential cause an accident by ramming the vehicle in front of you. There have been a couple of 'close calls'.i have videos of the engine revving that i can supply, but the file sizes are too large to upload. This has been occurring since i purchased the vehicle new. They replaced the transmission at 5000 miles for a similar situation. The problem occurrence diminished, but over the years the problem has been happening more frequently. I have always reported this to the dealer when taking it in for service. The dealer has been unable to replicate the situation or offer any solution. They have been supplied with the videos. The exact cause of this is currently unknown.

For awhile noticed occasional but unusual increase in rpm's. Didn't think much of it until incident on highway when car made a loud noise, and lurched forward as if we hit something. Immediately pulled off road, and didn't notice any damage. Took car to dealer when they "reset" something and said the car was good. Problems with rpm's have continued, and took car to dealership 4 more times with identical faults. At one point they replaced a solenoid, which appeared to fix it for about 2 weeks. Were told they can not duplicate the faults, car is fine, and there is nothing they can do. They said the transmission learns your patterns and something might have gotten confused. I'm extremely frustrated with this. It's clearly a safety hazard, that will only continue to get worse. It's my wife's primary vehicle and i fear for her safety. Have read online, and we are not the only 2010 hyundai tucson owners that are experiencing these problems.

Issue: the interior plastic cover attached to the shifter located next to the cup holders will crumple-up after some soda is spilled on it - creating a safety issue because the crumpled plastic will make it difficult or prohibit the shifter to be placed in park or drive. If weak individual encounters this condition on a sloped surface the car may roll up or down the slope because while it may be difficult to place it in park or drive - the car can be placed in neutral.this all started when on a april 1, 2011, friday trip from cedar park, to corpus christi, tx. I stopped and picked up a burger and coke. I placed the coke in the cup holder and continued on my trip- some of the coke spilled because the lid came loose. I secured the lid on the cup and wiped down the area where the coke had spilled. On april 2, 2011 saturday, i noticed that the it was hard to shift but did not think much of it . I returned to cedar park on april 3, sunday. By april 4, monday, the shifter plastic was a crumpled mess and i had to use a box cutter to cut through the plastic so i could place the car in park or drive. I took my car to the hyundai dealership where i bought it,and dropped it off to be serviced. So i was surprised and disappointed when the service advisor, called and said that the service manager had directed she tell us that because some liquid had been spilled on the plastic causing it to become sticky - that the repair was not covered by warranty and that we would have to pay $250.00. There is no excuse for any amount of spilled soda to cause the plastic shift cover to crumple and impede proper operation of the gear shifter. This is a design and engineering flaw which could possibly result in injury or death. A recall to correct and repair this problem needs to be initiated.

Since i got this vehicle the gear shift gets stuck. I have gone to the dealership to get the problem fixed. The problem has been the backlight switch. It is a big hassle trying to get this problem fixed with the dealership. The backlight switch last two to three years. I got the recall letter about the backlight switch in 2012, but why my vin number is not listed? the dealership has been charging me every single time i have been there for this constant problem. I almost got kill by the train because of this backlight switch problem. I got stuck a feet away from the rail tracks two weeks ago, there was a car at front of me and i couldn't move the gear shift to reverse. The car decided to move at the last minute and i couldn't do anything. The contention bar was over my windshield so i couldn't move forward and i couldn't move backwards because the gear shift wasn't moving. I have been in the dealership for five times and the last two times, they have kept my car there, but they haven't even touched it. They haven't told me the reason why, but i just found it out. It is because my vin number is not listed. This is a very dangerous problem. Driving a car with this problem once you apply the brakes the gear shift won't work.neither in case you have to park or make a turn. Picking up my daughter from school is a big problem because once i park, the gear shift doesn't move down, so i have to turn it off up to three times and wait each time two to three minutes until the engine resets itself. Drivers behind me get so frustrated. Would you please help me to list my vin number?i am very concerned driving this car with my family.
Purchased my 2010 hyundai tucson in may 2010. I have had three instances of transmission lockup at 50 mph. As described by others it feels like you hit something in the road. The car lurches and there is a loud noise. I am very afraid to drive this car, it feels like i will lose control of it one of these times when it happens. The dealership is currently replacing the transmission as per direction from hyundai technical assistance. Not sure if this will fix the problem or just delay it. The vehicle has 8300 miles, it started failing around 6000 miles. Personally, i don't want this vehicle back and feel that an investigation should take place, this is definitely a safety hazard. These vehicles are having transmission failures before the first oil change!
I have had my hyundai tucson for about 5 months, about two months after owning the car the car made a loud clunk and lurched forward, like i got hit from behind or like i hit an animal. I pulled over to see if i did but nothing was there. This happened about three times before i took it to the dealer. They checked it and said everything checked out fine. They reset the transmission, they told me the transmission learns your patterns and something might have gotten confused. Its been about 2 months now since they "fixed" the problem but this morning it happened again and it slammed so hard it made my son and i lurch forward and the seatbelts locked. It is very scary when it happens. I have an appt. This week to get it serviced again, we will see what they say this time. I am very concerned about the safety of the car when this happens.
Transmission problems persisting. Causing very hard downshifts, making seat belt tensioners lock.
Sudden downshifting with loud clunk and lurching of vehicle at 35 mph. Felt as if i had been hit from behind by another vehicle. Instinctively hit the brakes and pulled over to check for exterior damage, and found none. Continued down the road and experienced unusual increases in rpms. When i arrived at my destination, the vehicle would not go in reverse. Owned vehicle only 11 days. Incident occurred at 500 miles. Vehicle towed to dealership. Service center informs me that vehicle seems to be "performing normally," but they are "checking the codes."
2010 hyundai tucson ltd fwd - approx 14,000 miles.car suddenly accelerated while driver was parking the car.driver's foot on the brake and car lurched forward, stopping only when it hit a tree.body work being done now and then off to dealership for analysis of brakes and sensors.
No accident yet, but worrisome. Have a 2010 hyundai tucson limited awd. On several occasions now. When slowing down (such as a highway on or off ramp), without foot on the gas. Car violently downshifts. To the point feels like someone slammed on the brakes. Actually slowed the car down enough that i pushed forward in the drivers seats, and the seat belt tensioned up to keep me going forward.this has happened several times. I have asked the dealer about this, and they said there is no defect, and that it is 'normal' behavior. But i have never been in a car that shifts this hard and this violently to make me worry about crashing.
Recently purchased a new hyundai tucson and found there is no alert bell, buzzer, or light to tell the front seat passenger that they do not have their seat belt buckled.

Over the last week, my car has gotten stuck in park on 3 occasions.this is a problem with the brake switch.apparently, hyundai and kia have recalled 1.9m cars with this problem but the hyundai tucson is only recalled up to year 2009.mine is a 2010 and not included in the recall.however, this is a serious problem, as the car might not come out of cruise if this happens while driving.all it has caused me so far is frustration and panic.

On three separate occasions this vehicle experienced unintentional acceleration while either braking or slowly attempting to park.during each incident the auto accelerated at high speed while my foot was on the brake and i was unable to stop the auto from proceeding forward even with both feet heavily applied to the brakes.each time i was luckily able to maneuver to avoid hitting any pedestrians in my path and fortunately there were no human injuries during any of these occasions. However, two of the incidents did result in a collision.the first was a minor rear end crash resulting from the inability to stop the auto when it unintentionally accelerated while braking for a red light.the last incident resulted in expensive auto damage when the auto unintentionally accelerated while slowly pulling into a parking spot along the street and causing the auto to jump the curb. To avoid hitting pedestrians walking on the sidewalk or crashing into a storefront, i was forced to collide into a telephone pole to stop the auto resulting in thousands of dollars of front end damage.
The vehicle would not go into park from drive when stopped to park. I drove to another parking spot and still would not go into park. The car finally shut down. When attempting to restart, which unable to do the brake pedal was frozen and unable to push down. Luckily i was in a parking lot because if it had stalled on the highway i could of created a accident. The car just froze.

Yesterday, my wife car, suddenly started to sharply to the right, when her hold on steering wheel relaxed.i tested it. It is not an alignment problem. It is a sudden and obvious taking over of the steering by the car.i took it to my mechanic. He told me that he and none of his certifiedmechanicshave ever seen this problem, and did not know what was wrong and i should contact hyundai as perhaps there was a recall or service bulletin on this condition.i did that, but was told that i would have to bring it there to be diagnosed.my concern is not so much for my car. I don't know if i want to spend dealership type money to fix the car.my concern is the safety of others. My wife was traveling about 20 mph when this happened, and was able to avid hitting another car.if it happened when she was traveling 60 mph on a four lane highway, it would have been a major disaster.i felt that i needed to bring the problem to your attention, to possibly protect others.
