Air bag light on

On 7-20-2011, i was driving about 35 mph on a residential road around 1:30 p.m.a large vehicle in front of me, put on his left blinker & started to stop, i braked but still rear ended it. My air bag did not inflate, just the seat belt worked. I chipped a tooth on the steering wheel, got whiplash in my neck. Also my right breast developed a hematoma which grew larger every week, it was very painful, had to have tests to find out what the lump in breast was. The hematoma had to be drained by a doctor w/driving about 35 mph on a residential street on 7-20-2011 @ 2:00 p.m.when a largesuv put on his blinker & started to stop, i braked but still rear ended him. The air bag did not inflate, just the seat belt worked. I chipped my front tooth on the steering wheel, got a hematoma in my right breast(very painful) & whiplash in my neck.had to go for tests to find out what the lump in breast was. Then doctor had to drain it via ultrasound. Went to p.t. For approx. 8 months for back & neck. To date: had emergency surgery w/a cervical fusion( have a plate & 4 screws in neck), then back surgery in lumbar area,(bones in spine pressing on nerves to legs, painful to walk). My car was totaled, the suv just had a broken rear window,i was taken to hospital for xrays to make sure i did not have any fractures. I believe the air bag should have inflated, i am 5'3", weigh 110 lbs. I have the insurance forms& other paperwork re:accident. I need your help, too many injuries that could have been prevented by the airbag.thank you.

"takata recall" on april 8th approximately 6 o'clock in the morning i was awaken out of my sleep to my car on fire in my yard. I called the firefighter department they came out and said it was from bad electrical wires. My car was in my front yard...i last drove it that night to pizza hut

My daughter rear-ended another vehicle at approximately10 mph the airbags did not deploy and the seatbelts did not lock.she hit her head and chest on the steering wheel.she now has severe whiplash and bruising.

The contact owned a 2005 hyundai tucson. While driving 25 mph, the preceding vehicle applied the brakes unexpectedly, causing the contact to rear end the vehicle. The air bags did not deploy. The contact sustained injuries to the left wrist and chest pain. The contact was transported via ambulance to seek medical attention. The contact was unaware of the injuries to the other driver. A police report was filed. The vehicle was unable to be driven and was towed to an impound lot. The vehicle was not diagnosed. The vehicle was destroyed. Takata inflatorsmy air bag light has been on for many months.we do not have the resources to take it in to be looked at.i received a card in the mail this morning indicating that my vehicle may be subject to the recall however, according to the vin it doesn't seem so.although it is a 2005, the vehicle is still in great running condition.please advise what i can do to have this checked.

Airbag safety:in december 2004, i bought two 2005 hyundai tucson lx suv 2wd advertised with six standard airbags.warmer weather arrived, coats shed and the passenger airbag off light illuminated on the dash with my wife in the passenger seat.the light went out when her pocketbook was in her lap and on when not, weight sensitive.she feels upset and unsafe.hyundai explained the advanced srs takes many readings including weight.they explained the passenger needed to be 110 lbs for the airbag activate to protect front seat children. My wife is not a child (we''re in our 50''s), exercises and eats right.her weight varies from 107-110 lbs. And is 5''2''.ironically, my wife has full airbag protection in her car as a driver but not as a passenger in the ''death seat of own car.many women fit this profile. No-where in hyundai''s owner''s manual or airbag brochure are specific weight limits referred to.multiple complaints to the dealer, then to hyundai america got nowhere.my wife rides with her pocketbook in her lapto fake out the weight sensor.all i want is to weigh down seat (2 lbs) or re-program the weight limits, and not to return the cars.hyundai''s liability could be huge if a life is lost when the airbag could have/should have been active.according to nhtsa and the new york state motor vehicle safety code, my wife is over 12 years old and more than 5 feet tall and qualifies to ride up front on both accounts.with advanced or smart airbag technology she should be protected, even at a reduced deployment rate?with respect to ''warning labels, consumer information and telltale signs:''proper use of and air bag warning labels are important but there is no disclaimer that if you are an adult front seat passenger and fall into a specific body weight category you will not have air bag protection.neither is it stated in the owner''s user manual or any other hyundai documentation provided to the customer prior to the point of sale].

2005 tucson air bags failed to deploy.the consumer's vehicle struck a pole head on yet the air bags did not deploy.the consumer sustained severe contusions to his head, chest and neck.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundaitucson. Hyundai had new regulations for the driver's side air bags which requireed maintenance at no cost to the contact. Thecontactdid notwant the driver's side air bag altered.however, she requested the passenger'sside air bag be adjusted due to the her weight and height, 115 lbs, and 5'1 height.the current mileage was9,500. Updated 03/20/07

Dt: 2005 hyundai tucson - the front passenger air bag light will turn on and off due to the weight of the passenger.consumer didnot know what the weight was that caused passenger's air bag light to turn on and off. Consumertook the car to the local dealer , and they said there was no solution to this problem.they did check for any defect in the air bag sensors and found none.thishappenedalmost every time thatconsumerrode in the passenger seat.if the air bag light is on the air bag is turned off. Consumer can get the air baglight to go off if she moves around in the seat.the consumer was told that the air bag deactivation sensor was design to work if a passenger in the seat is less than 75 pounds.the consumer weighs 120 pounds but when she sit in the seat the air bag light remains on.the consumer has to sit a certain way in order for the light to turn off.

There has been two problems involving my 2005 hyundai tucson.the first problem was in regards to the passenger side airbag light.the light would flicker on and off with an adult female of over five feet in height and over 100 lbs, but less than 115lbs.according to the owners manual the flickering light means that the sensor for the airbag is malfunctioning.i took the vehicle to the local dealer and was told that they had checked it and it was working fine.they said if the problem persisted that they could adjust the sensitivity of the sensor.the problem continued to occur and i took the vehicle to a different hyundai dealer a couple of towns away.they also said that the sensor was operating correctly and to see if the problem continued.they said that they could not adjust the sensitivity.the problem again persisted and the second hyundai, upon a third visit, said that there is no weight limit for the sensor to work at, but like the manual states, the person needs to sit correctly in the seat.they took a look at the sensor and since that time there has been less issues in regards to the airbag light.however, the light still comes on occasionally for this passenger and the size, shape, and way of sitting in the seat has not changed.

Dt: passenger side air bag sensor light does not work correctly.the consumers wife weighed 105 pounds when she sat in the seat the sensor light would come on or go off sometimes. The consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and they reprogrammed the sensors for a lighter weight but it is still not working.they did ran a code check but did not show any codes.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving the passenger side airbag light illuminated.this occurs every time the vehicle is driven because of the passenger's weight.although the dealership was alerted, no repairs were made. Updated 03/09/06.

While traveling in snowy conditions, on a straight flat road, at approximately 35 mph, my wife and i went into a slide in our 2005 hyundai tucson.after going off the road the car made impact with a tree at the passengers side door causing over $11,000 in damages not only to the outside but also the inside of the vehicle. The passengers side door was pushed into the vehicle approximately a 1ft, causing the roof and dashboard to buckle up, and the front end to bow outward to the passenger's side.additionally the windshield shattered along with the front passenger window.in this vehicle there are several airbags, including side and curtain, none of which went off.upon being inspected by my insurance agent it was his belief that at least the side bags should have been deployed.he also informed me that my seat belt tensioners didn't seem to work either.i called to file a complaint with hyundai expecting that they would offer to send someone out to look over the vehicle before it need to be fixed, instead they are sending me additional paperwork that i need to fill out and send back to them through regular postal mail.what made things worse is that the person from hyundai that i spoke with kept reminding me throughout our conversation that it would be a lengthy process and having the car inspected by anyone was not guaranteed.at this point the car is about to be fixed, because the insurance company can not wait for months and neither can we, and i still have not received the initial paperwork.

We were in a huyundai 2005 tucson.we were t-boned on the driver's side.the police estimated her speed at approx. 45 mph.she hit us just ahead of the rear wheel to approx the middle of the driver's door.the side air bags nor the curtain air bags deployed.

Have had vehicle into dealer many times over the years complaining of no start issue. Once vehicle is jumped it is fine for awhile. Battery, starter and alternator always seem to test good and no codes are found. I had to go buy a portable jumper unit to carry as this happens at least once a week and if it sits more than a few days, it will not start and is dead.dealer states they cannot find the cause. Bought new in 2005 and has happened over 35 times since new.

Aug 22, 05 i brought in my car because the driver side was getting stuck. They couldn't find anything.on 9/12/06 brought my vehicle because the driver side door doesn't open at times, the clicker to open the door doesn't work, the doors close/open when i am sitting in the car without car being on.sometimes i have to crawl through passenger side. My dadbrought it in and i had appointment for 7:10 am, at 12:30 they said it was done they were walking on the wrong car then at they look at the car at 12:30 and said they couldn't find anything.then, at 1:00 another mechanic look at and they told my dad they reprogram the vehicle. My vehicles has been reprogrammed more then 7 times from the time i purchase it along with my other problems i have complaint about. I need someone who knows how to deal with this problem to fix my vehicle.on both invoice they did not indicate what they did to the vehicle.

Vehicle stalls when driving. Towed to dealer. Dealer claims that they cannot diagnose since they cannot hookup to computer. Dealer claiming computer must be replaced first, but is outside warranty. Vehicle has been brought to multiple dealers throughout the time of ownership to report problem. Problem continuously goes unfounded. As seen on nhtsa and other postings this is a common problem that could result in serious injury or loss of life. Hyundai corporate claims there is nothing they can do to help.

Will start for a week then won't start. Will keep doing this.had battery and other parts replaced - but keeps doing this. Still paying for the car.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundia tucson. The contact stated while driving 65 mph, the engine suddenly turned off. The vehicle was pulled to the side of the road and after approximately 20 minutes, the contact was able to restart the vehicle.the vehicle was not taken to the dealer and was not repaired. The failure mileage was 53,000.

Unexpected acceleration of engine when at complete stop (at stop sign) and foot had been on brake for at least 30 seconds. Shift was in drive, engine went full speed, all wheels spun on ground, creating much smoke. Foot remained on brake. Note thataccelerator pedal whennot engaged is below level of brake pedal when it is engaged and that when accelerator pedal is full down then its level is 3 inches below the brake pedal level when it is engaged. Right foot was on brake - thus no way for operator error since if foot had been off brake the vehicle would have shot forward into intersection and there would have been a multiple car accident. And there is no way to have right foot on brake and to have accelerator full down at the same time. Shifted to neutral, engine continued to race, some noise when shifted - may have harmed transmission. Turned off ignition switch and engine stopped. Vehicle started normally after this. Ac was on. Car had full dealer service at 45,661 miles and state inspection a week before this incident. At 45755 miles, tech confirmed ses light; found code p0150 oxygen sensor- not replaced, software updated for engine control module. Updated 06/24/11

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. While driving approximately 35 mph and applying pressure to the horn to avoid a crash, the horn would not sound. The vehicle was taken to the dealer six times for the failure where the technicians replaced the horn, the conjunction box and the horn modulator but to no avail. The vehicle was left with the dealer where the contact was awaiting further diagnosis. The vehicle was not further repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 47,153.

In 5 months of owning this 2 year old car ihad so many problems with it. Within 2 weeks after i purchased it the car started dying on me for no reason/after i was finally able to get an appointment at dealer a few weeks later they fixed it somewhat as they claimed the air filter hose was loose andcaused the problem.a week latervehiclecontinued to die.so i brought it again to dealer, and no problem was found. Then i took it home andit died every few days on the freeway , on street, and making turns left or right or idling at a stop sign. The last time on 6/28 i brought it to dealer as it had died 7 times on 6/27. I left it andapparently on 6/29 it was taken to hyundai for a few hours. Then i received a call after 5 pm that it was ready. I called back andsaid i wasnot coming to get it until itwastested further. They called me back andclaimedcar didnot have any gas, they found no problems with it , andwe will be canceling the rental on saturday. I called andspoke with a manager, and he agreed with me. However, the car never was taken backtothe dealership until 7/5 when i came to get it as i called on it since they never called me. It was still empty on gas, the car was filled with spider webs, and no miles were really put on it for testing. 3 days later on 7/8 the car died on my way to the kids. Here whatirritatedme off the most at 6:32 pm on the 14 freeway i was headed home going 65-70 mph on the freeway and the car died with a semi-truck behind me and i was almost creamed.

"takata recall" on april 8th approximately 6 o'clock in the morning i was awaken out of my sleep to my car on fire in my yard. I called the firefighter department they came out and said it was from bad electrical wires. My car was in my front yard...i last drove it that night to pizza hut

Vehicle locks and unlocks doors at random, with or without keys in the ignition.causes battery to fail as it will continue this when not in use.this is the second hyundai i owned that had this same problem and looking through carfax on used vehicles there are numerous vehicles with repeated electrical problems.the vehicle can be moving or in parked in a garage overnight.vehicle had me locked inside so long at one point that i was late for a meeting and was about to crawl out a window when i was actually able to use a door.this is a definite safety issue for any type of accident.rescue could not take place as door could not be opened.this is an on going problem that has not been solved by dealership.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that the horn, door locks and safety alarms would malfunction periodically. The dealer advised repairs could not be made to the vehicle until the systems failed completely. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was 91,252. The vin was not available.

Problem with stalling at low speedsi.e - coasting to a stop/pulling into parking spaces.mechanics do not know what it is since there is no check engine light and does not register any codes.nervous driving for fear that the engine will stall at higher rates of speed and will lose all power.

3 outside and 3 inside door handles have broken off.motor for electronic windows [driver, front passenger and rear passenger] all quit working within a week of each other.and no, it wasn't fuses. Headlight housing, passenger side is breaking inside the housing.

Car takes 6 times to startcar losses power on expressway almost causing accidentcodes come up and fix problem but issue always comes back was told wiring problemspent over 1000.00 to fix the problem and no mention priceless if not safe to drive

Vehicle was traveling at approximately 40 mph when the vehicle suddenly stopped running and blocked the center lane of traffic on a busy thoroughfare during rush hour. Attempts to restart the vehicle were unsuccessful at first. After 15 minutes vehicle was able to start and stayed running. This type of incident has also happened in the past - vehicle will be traveling at speed and will just suddenly shut off and not restart. Vehicle has been taken to a service shop to be evaluated. Vehicle has a new coil pack, plugs, wires, throttle position sensor, a/c compressor, and timing belt. Vehicle, once repaired, is going be sold due to its continued unreliability and tendency to just stall at any time at any speed.

Car stalls in stop and go traffic, happened twice in hot weather, the first time resulting in being towed from george washington bridge in ny 9/16date given below was second incident driving from philadelphia to kennett square pa in heavy traffic

My 2005 hyundai tucson(2.7l v-6 4wd) has for the last 1.5 years has been: 1.stalling out2. Running very rough with no power (especially when raining or after several days of rain) 3. Cranks over but doesn't start 4. Engine quits running on highway (leaving us stranded on route i-80). All intermittently!i have had the car in a repair shop where they replaced the ignition coil pack assembly (6/2011).then it failed again but not long enough to get something diagnosed, so i drove it just knowing someday it was going to happen again.finally it failed again (1/1/2012)this time long enough for me to get the code/s from the ecm. It had a hard crankshaft position sensor failure. Then it ran fine. I replaced the crankshaft position sensor and upon removal and inspection the sensors three wires were bare. The outer insulation covering all three wires was not only gone but the individual wire insulation was also missing (about 3" of bare copper wire). A quick look of some websites turned up photos of four other crankshaft position sensors that looked the same (missing insulation/ wires shorting) all coming from hyundai tucson's. In my opinion this is a very verydangerous situation. Looking at other ntsb complaints for 05, 06 tucson's turns up nearly 60 other stalling engine;running rough; engine cuts off; type complaints.

Engine on our 2005 hyundai tucson turned off in the middle of a busy highway going approximately 40 mph. Managed to turn/roll off the road without power or power steering. Had to restart car several times as it would stall out on acceleration or when slowing to turn. Paid dealership $209 to "fix" the problem, but the problem still exists a month later and is getting progressively worse each day. Dealership did oil change, vehicle inspection and replaced "p0444 evap purge control valve connector." clearly this did not solve the problem as this severe safety hazard persists. Hyundai has no answers and several other similar complaints we've read have been filed with the nhtsa. Something has got to be done.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson.while driving 15 mph in rainy conditions, the brakes lock up when they are applied and the vehicle skids.the vehicle also skids when driving over a bump in the road.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that it needed an updated program in its computer system.they performed the upgrade, but the failure is still present.he called the manufacturer, but they refused to make any other types of repair.the contact believes that a recall should be issued because it appears to be a manufacturer defect.the failure mileage was 100 and current mileage was 60,000.

25 problems later from purchasing a 2005 hyundai tuscan on 1/2/05 and nothing has been done.i could get into a major accident an hyundai didn't care.i have written numerous complaints , spokento asupervisor, 1 case manager, and 3 customer service representativesfrom nhtsa and all i gotwere empty promises. Ongoing problem with espy system-pulsating brakes, losing power, gas pedal locked, and swayingfrom side to side on the highway/street was no joke. For this not to occur i had to drive with the air conditioner on if not it happened every half and hour. Now how would you like an 18 wheeler behind you while thiswas happening? electronically problems-remote control sometimes worked, doors opened/closed b themselves, doors got stuck, manually opening door it sounded like it was dying, doors locked from inside i hadto climb out of thewindow twice, thecar has been reprogram more times then anything, i had 3 multi point inspections, recall 079-remove-replaced air bag control, recall 068 espy-hydraulic control unit (hecu, recall january 2006-espy_electronic stability program, recall 071 july 06, 2005 parking brakes, recall 921 tuscan owners manual, recall 068-8/5/06. Mats rolled under brake replaced, brakes slid when it rained, back window wipers made noise when it rained , sun glass holder got stuck even though it was replaced, passenger seat back cracked twice and replaced. I would like to know how many owner tuscan owners suffered like i didwithout any help, if so email me at [email protected] contacted the 1-800 they give on this site and i spoke to a case manager andshe wanted me to fax to her all the paper work and forms i have sent out. The total of pages was 52 and it would cost 75.00 to send ,which they didnot reimburse, they didn't have a actual address to send the information to, she gave me a file number i got august 1, 06, so i asked where thepaper work?

I usually keep my car in the garage and out of the weather. I recall last year my daughter said my car stalled out when she was driving. I told her water may have just splashed under the engine or something. I just had the same issue. We had a rain storm last night. I went out and started my car. I came out to leave and my car was off. I tried to start it againbut itdidn't want to turn over. Finally after 7 tries the car started. I backed out and it just sputtered and the car just cut out twice. I just had new sparkplugs and spark plug wires put in so it has to be something in the electric to the motor. I don't trust having my grandson in the car. I have read horrible stories about the same thing happening to other owners with the same issue.i borrowed my boyfriends car so i could get to work. Hoping maybe someone knows if there is a recall on this issue.

Brake light and battery light are staying on

The electronic stability control (esp) light goes on saying the system is off. I've had it back to the dealer 4 times now. Guess i'm lucky it's not activating when not needed, but after reading the recall info, i'm nervous.

Dt*:the contact stated while starting the vehicle, it lurched forward and would not engage into gear.also while driving, the 4wd light intermittently illuminated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times who could not duplicate the problem.

I purchased a 2005 hyundai tucson on 2/7/07 for which the dealership was not at fault as they were lied to by the previous owner. Within a few weeks after owning the car it would just die anywhere and at anytime. I contacted the dealership numerous times to only get little assistance and a few repair attempts without success. It died 5 separate times on the 14 freeway in the evening after picking up my boys in rosamond and had 5 near fatal accidents which i documented where i was and the time and date. I have a log of all the timed and i am upset that in 7 months the car is still allowed to be on the road. The manufacturer refuses to take it back knowing there is a problem and i am furious. All i wanted was a drivable car and be free from worries.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that when the brake pedal was depressed, the brake lights failed to illuminate. In addition, the contact stated that the ignition key was stuck in the ignition and the shift interlock failed to shift properly without warning. In addition, the air bag warning indicator had failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the failure was related to nhtsa campaign number: 09v280000 (exterior lighting) however, the vin was not included in the recall. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 31,000.

Esp light on 50% of the time.had it fixed at dealer under recall and it worked for a year or two and now still does it.importan safety device that you don't know if it works.dealer doesn't know and all 05-07 owners i ask have the same problem.

Transmission keeps slipping out of gear when you put into gear and car won'tmove. You stop at a light and even though car is in gear it won't move.flip it back and forth on auto gear shift sometimes it moves.other times it changes gears or slips out.

Aug 2010 -- driving on interstate in extremely heavy traffic and engine stalled, losing power steering, brakes, and gas acceleration . Limped to exit, barely avoiding being rear-ended by 18-wheeler and barely got off freeway before engine died. Had to wait apprx 1 hour before engine would start again. Drove very slow and cautiously next 400 miles home with no further problem.july 2011 -- driving in city, turned corner and engine stalled exactly as in 2010 incident described above. Was able to pull into a parking lot before being rear-ended by another vehicle. Only had to wait apprx 15 minutes for engine to start again this time. Made it rest of way home without further incident.for past 3 years, esp light comes on randomly while driving down highway and won't go out. Sometimes pulling over, killing engine, then restarting makes the light go out, and sometimes it doesn't.

Brake lights fail to illuminate when brake pedal depressed. Esp (vehicle stability control) light on dash remained illuminated.

Called the dealer to fix recalls 068 esp...071 parking brake....079 airbag system....and 092 stop lamp switch, dealer indicated that my car vin number not included, the esp light wont go off on my car, it is always on. Please advice what steps to take.thanks

My esc light keeps coming on. I see there was a recall on it. Can you tell me if and when that recall was performed on my car?

There are multiple recalls on this vehicle, but when i researched on the nhtsa website. It claimed 0 recalls... I'm confused!!!!! when i researched on another site it gave me 4 different recalls. And this vehicle is displaying problems that describes at least 2 of these recalls. Brake lights not working. And also slight pull when accelerating. Recall numbers 05v119000 and 09v122000. I was in motion when another driver pulled on side of me and informed me that mybrakes lights were not working. And i also believe that i am having problems with my electronic stability control.

Dt:there is a recall on this vehicle by huyndai however due to the vin number this car is not included.the problem is there is an esp (stability control) which activates one of the wheels and causes the vehicle to swerve in the direction of the braking.in this case, the vehicle locked up and the consumer nearly lost control while driving about 40 mph and the right front wheel and brake locked up.in this incident, these occurred about 3 times.

Dt*:the contact stated while applying pressure to the brakes on a right turn the right front brake surges, causing the electrical stability control system to shut down. The dealership replaced the sensor in the steering wheel twice, but this did not remedy the problem. The vehicle is at the dealership for further repairs.

Recall campaign : 05v119000. The consumer received a recall letter from the manufacturer regarding the esp activatation.

The electronic stability control (esp) light goes on saying the system is off. I've had it back to the dealer 4 times now. Guess i'm lucky it's not activating when not needed, but after reading the recall info, i'm nervous.

Initial issues on vehicle presented in january 2021 with various check engine light codes including p0133. Although vehicle passed emissions in 2020, various check engine codes for mass air flow sensor, oxygen sensors, misfire for various cylinders. After replacing indicated mass air flow sensor, oxygen sensors indicated via obd ii tool, battery, alternator (more than once), both front cv boots, head gasket seals for both cylinder banks, more check engine light issues appear according to the vehicle. Currently another cylinder misfire check engine code has appeared after all spark plugs have been replaced with oem recommended brand replacements (nkg pre-gapped spark plugs). The misfire code has cleared at this time. The current check engine code from the obd ii tool is error code for drive train driveability p0420 regarding catalyst system operating below threshold at bank 1. I have utilized local store catalytic cleaner liquids to clean the system, which has not resolved this issue. Additionally, beginning in january 2021, the vehicle was taken to the closest local dealship for a large majority of these repairs including a $150 dealership fee just to have these codes reviewed and additional fees for the labor to address for each issue for each repair.

Misfire cylinder #5. This has been an ongoing problem shortly after my mother gave me the vehicle at apx. 24,000 miles. The car was transported from the east coast here to arizona. It has been in and out of hyundai dealerships and still no fix, with my father paying the bills, which is hard for him being on a fixed income, but my safety as well as his grand children are paramount. The vehicle will quickly slow down from a 70 mph speed to 35mph without warning and sometimes the engine light will come on (code p0305). I made a complaint once before (case #389816). This continuing problem with no fix has me have several near misses of a rear end collision, which so far i have been lucky not to have. The most recent repair was on june 14th thru 15th, 2013 and the problem was back on the monday after picking the vehicle on sunday, the 16th. When the problem first happened the vehicle was still under the extended service agreement and of course it's now expired will the same problem that wasn't researched during that time. I have seen many comments with owners having the same issues on hyundai's forums, so it's not my imagination. Can someone please investigate these claims so that the problem can be solved? if i could afford a new vehicle it would solve my problem and pass it to someone else, but i don't have the money to do that. Please help, thank you.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, she approached a traffic stop signal and the engine stalled without warning. The failure recurred sporadically. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and independent mechanic who both were unable to locate or duplicate the problem. The contact was notified of the defect. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that while decelerating, the engine stalled. The vehicle immediately restarted. The failure recurred numerous times. The vehicle was taken to a personal mechanic for a diagnosis; however the failure was not able to be duplicated. The dealer was notified and scheduled a time to examine the vehicle. The manufacturer was also notified but offered no assistance. The vehicle had not been repaired. The failure and current mileages were 99,000.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. While depressing the brake pedal to stop the vehicle, it stalled without warning. In addition, the contact stated that the vehicle stalled intermittently while reversing, driving, and various other times. The contact stated that the vehicle restarted on the first attempt, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but they where unable to diagnose the failure. The local dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was approximately 145,400.

The first time this happened i was pulling into a parking place in a shopping center. As i was turning into the parking place i very lightly tapped the accelerator and the engine reved up and i applied the brake only to have the car continue forward and go up the cement curb. I then pushed down on the brake pedal as hard as i could and only then did the car stop. If the cement block had not been there, i would have hit the car parked directly in front of me. The front tires had gone about two feet up on the cement block.the next time this happened i was once again parking. This time i was parking parallel to the curb. I pulled into and in front of the space i was going to park in. I put the car in reverse and began to back up slowly with my foot over the brake pedal. Suddenly, the engine reved up and the car lurched backward. This time i applied the brake very hard and i was able to stop my car before i hit car in back of me.

I was slowing to a stop and could feel that the car was going to die and it did. I took it to the dealer and they did a fuel induction service and it seemed to fix the problem.the dealer should have not charged me for a car so new, but they put under the service "maintenance" which i didn't find out till a couple years later when it happened again and i called the dealership. I have sincehad the same incident happen 5 times and after reading several people have had the same thing with no explanation i decided to put my incidents in so that more people would know it isn't just a single happening of the same thing. After this happensi take the car on the freeway and floor it meaning to blow out what i think may be stuck in the fuel line???? it always works for a while. This thing doesn't occur for any particular reason and i have the car well maintained. I now have over 120,000 miles and the last time it did this was about 6 months ago. Thank goodness nothing bad has happened because of it.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that after refueling, the vehicle would not immediately start. Once the vehicle was started, the vehicle experienced unintended acceleration. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the nox, purge valve, fuel trim and camshaft sensors were faulty and needed to be replaced. The sensors were replaced however, ten days later the failure recurred. Laurel hyundai located at 998 eisenhower blvd, johnstown, pa 15904 was notified of the failure. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 123,000.

While driving on the freeway engine stalls with no warning car loses all power. May or may not start again in a few minutes. We took the car to our mechanic cars started right up. No error codes came up this has happened three more times with the same results at different auto shops. I have contacted hyundai they say they are not aware of any problems. Doing some internet research shows that many people are having the same issue this is a safety issue it could easily cause an accident.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated while driving at an unknown speed, the vehicle stalled and all of the warnings lights illuminated in the instrument panel. The contact mentioned that the failure had occurred once prior to the recent failure. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure and current mileage was 100,000.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that while making a turn at 20 mph, the vehicle stalled without warning and the steering wheel became difficult to maneuver. The vehicle was able to restart after waiting. The failure recurred intermittently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was unable to be determined. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 81,000.

While stopped at a light the engine revved up to a high rate. I tried to put the transmission into neutral but put it into reverse instead, the high rate of revs continued, finally got it into neutral and engine went back to normal idle speed. When light changed put transmission into drive and proceeded home (a few blocks) without incident. This happened about 13 months ago whereby the mechanic replaced the idle speed control and throttle position sensor. Also they did a throttle body and fuel injection service at that time.

The contact owns a 2005 honda tucson. While driving approximately 10 mph, the contact approached a stop sign and the engine stalled with the entire instrument panel illumination. The engine restarted immediately. The failure occurred twelve times. The battery was replaced by an independent auto shop. The failure persisted and became progressly worse. The vehicle had not been diagnosed or repaired for the defect. The manufacturer was not notified of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was 58,000.

Incorrect oil dipstick installed on 2005 hyundai tucson gl, 2wd,2.0l,auto.owners manual calls for 4.23 quarts, this will result in an overfill of about 1/2 inch over the full mark.owners manual clearly highlights in bold letters not to overfill as engine damage will result.an oil fill to the full line results in less than specified oil quantity.dealer is aware of problem and has called tech line and has gotten guidance to continue to put 4.23 quarts in and let the dipstick read over full.no fix is offered. Hyunder consumer affairs has been notified, case#3249498 and has provided no resolution.a scenario is that a dipstick reading of low would actually be 1/2 quart below the low reading possibly causing engine damage or fire.a correct dipstick needs to be designed to indicate proper oil level.problem since new.

While driving the car just stalls, loosing power steering and power brakes.resulting in my daughter rearending another car and that car hitting the car in front of it and that driver suing my insurance.after being in the body shop for a month, i picked the car up friday april 25 the car stalled three times. I drove the car back to the dealer douglas isuzu, in santa ana calif. On saturday april 26 and it stalled again getting off the 55 freeway almost causing me to drive off the road on the offramp.

2005 hyundai tucson has experienced intermittent stalling. The dealer was unable to reproduce the problem.

Dt*: the consumer stated the vehicle does not reach a high enough temperature reading to operate in cold weather. The vehicle has been taken to the dealership four times for this problem. The first time the vehicle was determined to have an air pocket in the heating system. The consumer continued having the same type of problem. The vehicle was taken back to the dealership a second time. The dealership acknowledged there was a problem with the thermostat and it was replaced. The problems with the engine temperature persisted therefore, the vehicle was taken back to the dealership a third time. The dealership replaced the temperature sensor which did not correct the problem. The vehicle was taken back a fourth time and no problems were found.

2005 hyundai tucson developed problems with the engine and the engine light.***no answer required***. *mrthe consumer stated the vehicle lack power when taking off.the cruise control disengaged on its own.

I brought my car to the mechanic for an oil change and he stated that the oil pan gasket is rotting/corroding and is close to leaking.he said this shouldn't happen in a 5 year old vehicle and that it is defective. There should be a recall on it.

Beginning at approximately 20k miles the engine stalls for no apparent reason. Usually occurs for a few days after extended highway driving then it is less prevalent. Stalling occurs most often when slowing to a stop but has happened on the freeway at speed. Vehicle now has 85k miles on it and problem is still occurring. Has been to dealer several times but no "codes" are set and they cannot duplicate problem (something about manufacturer will not "allow" them to perform extended driving to duplicate failure conditions). On a few occasions the engine has stalled in traffic situations where accidents were narrowly avoided. We no longer feel safe in this vehicle as it is just a matter of time until a serious accident will occur due to this stalling.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson.while driving approximately 25 mph and applying pressure to the brakes, the vehicle stalled without warning and then restarted itself immediately.three months later, the vehicle stalled again.the dealer stated that they would not inspect the vehicle unless the engine light illuminated on the instrument panel.the failure occurred intermittently.the dealer was unable to duplicate the failure, but stated that the air intake hose was possibly causing the failure.they replaced the band clamps.soon after the repair, the failure recurred.the contact filed a formal complaint with the manufacturer.the failure mileage was 7,500 and current mileage was 45,000. Necesito ayuda urgene, please. Received complaint written in english.

I bought hyundai tucson 2005 (suv, 2.0 gl, 4 cylinders, shiftronic) on 4/9/05.i took this car back and left it at a dealer on 4/16/05 because 1). The cruise control did not work.). I drove that car to la. On hwy 5 with the same speed as 80 mph. As the others. When i drove up to the hills, the speeding was dropped to 60 mph. (20 mph.difference) and couldn't speed up until down from the hills. I've tried to change to lower gear ... It was still struggled. I got honk and almost got hit from the cars behind.everyone (sales, financial, service department) whom concern this case told me that they will fix everything for us.on 4/22/05 `jayson` called me to pick up that car. He told me that `there were 2 technicians checked my car and there was nothing wrong, cruise control works, this car is a normal as 2.0 gl and only 4 cylinders.for the first problem. I tried to drive and check it with it. Finally, he found out that the cruise control's chip was loosen and fixed it.what did his 2 technicians check?for the second problem. He said it's a normal car, he couldn't do anything... Just the way that car is. But for me, it unsafe to drive even the hills in the city (i usually go to san francisco, and travel around especially lake tahoe, yosemite).this car is automatic transmission !!!e suggested me to change to lower gear. I've done but it never worked !!these words `we'll help you`. Result; that's all they have done.i'm not satisfied, feel unsafe to drive and unfair from this dealer. I don't want to pay for it.please check http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/results.cfmhttp://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/testing/ncap/index2.cfm.

I have a 2005 hyundi tucson 2.7l v6. Im having problems with the vehicle stalling when coming to a stop. The problem happened today at a stop sign. Thankfully there wasn't another car in front of me because i couldn't stop in time for the sign after it stalled. This has not been the first time this has happened. Its happened about 6 other times, all when coming to a stop at traffic lights, stop signs and yield signs. The car does start right after its stalled. I've donea fair amount of research on this issue and it seems it hasn't been solved yet. I've read of other tucsons being involved in accidents due to this problem. Some cases have been when traveling ay highway speed. This is a serious problem that needs to be resolved.

I have contacted hyundai for numerous failures to my 2005 tucson hyundai.i have spoken to brianna the held of consumer affairs regarding this matter and stated that i had to bring in my vehicle to be seen which i have done on 2 or 3 occasions. I even fax over all the paper work which i have not gotten a result. Today, november 17,2006 i decided to take my vehicle to hyundai of white plains, saw joey smouha at 1-914-328-3525 at 460 tarrytown road, white plains, ny 10607. I was having the problem that my alarm doesn't work, i can't open nor close my doors. He look over the car and said it seems that i having some kind of electrical problem and i am going to bring in the vehicle on my thanksgiving break.i find it strange that hyundai of new rochelle has been giving me the run around since 2005 and hyundai of white plains were nice and polite.and, gave me the time of day when i brought it in and said please look at it.now i did the same and spoke to david diaz of new rochelle, he didn't look at it he just ask when can i bring it in and drop it off that they had to keep it for a week.i am disgusted with the whole thing. I have had over 21 problems/complaints with this vehicle.

While driving 2005 tucson when turning on turn signals consumer accidentally turned off headlights.the consumer feels that this problem could be remedied if the two switches were not on the same side of the steering column.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. While parked, the contact noticed that the headlight lens had become discolored. The illumination of the headlights was dimmed by the discoloration of the lens making it difficult for the contact to see the roadway when driving at night. The contact cleaned the lens but the failure recurred. Additionally, the contact noticed that the plastic inside the headlight was melted. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 140,000.

Head light inside both sliver area are burn ??can't find what causes itneed help picture attache

3 outside and 3 inside door handles have broken off.motor for electronic windows [driver, front passenger and rear passenger] all quit working within a week of each other.and no, it wasn't fuses. Headlight housing, passenger side is breaking inside the housing.

The headlight lenses have not just oxidized as is common with vehicles that have plastic lenses. The material actually has hairline cracks running throughout. That defect, coupled with the oxidation that no amount of polishing has been able to remedy makes the brightness of even the best replacement bulbs less safe for nighttime operation. The dealer and hyundai usa both refused to offer a remedy.

When backing hyundai tucson out vehicle makes loud noise. Consumer took the vehicle to the dealer and was told there where no problems. The consumer stated after the recall was repaired, the dealer created another problem.the consumer stated since the problem has been going on for so long are problems have surfaced with the transmission and the brakes. The consumer also complained of poor gas mileage.

This has happened several times since vehicle was 2 years old; it is running along fine as begins sputtering and seems like it is running out of fuel, but the tank will be nearly full, then it will eventually stop running; i can let it sit for a while and it will restart, and some times is okay for a while, as if everything is okay, then it will happen again; i was charged for a new computer, and it still has not solved the problem. Vehicle has all over the road miles, still in excellent condition, other than this problem.

2005 hyundai tucson consumer feels that he was sold a lemon.he feels that he is not getting the proper miles to the gallon of gasoline while driving in the city.*mrthe vehicle only gets 11 mpg in the city.

2005 hyundai tucson bad gas mileage. Consumer states that the vehicle does not get the gas mileage indicated. In the city it gets less.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson.while driving approximately 55-60 mph, the vehicle intermittently hesitated and shut off.the vehicle is able to be restarted after 10 to 15 minutes.the vehicle has been to the dealer seven times regarding this failure, but they could not provide a remedy.the current mileage was 43,550 and failure mileage was 23,000.updated 03-04-08 updated 03/04/08

The back hatch window of my 2005tuscon broke, sending the right 1/2 of the window flying down about 2 feet.the back door/hatch latch is also broken, you can't shut it without pulling he latch back out manually first after opening it.has been over a month and 1/2 ;parts still not all in.also, thegas cap latch is rested and i fear next to break.

1/6/09 while driving the tuscon began to feel hesitant with slow acceleration and stalled while i was turning across traffic and malfunction light came on.tow was required to the dealer where the tps sensor assembly was replaced.mileage was 50209. I purchased my tuscon new in 9/2005 and since 12/05 i had the car in the dealer for malfunction light six times.on 4/26/2009 while traveling on the nj turnpike the tuscan began to operate in the same manner as in 1/09 ,and thankfully, i was able to pull over to the shoulder before the tuscon stalled and caused a major accident. I was towed to a hotel, and the next day towed again to a nj dealer where the sensor assy-air flow and sensor assy oxygen lh were replaced. Mileage 53401. I drove 150 miles to home, and the malfunction light came on again. I took the car to my regular dealer said the code was found for cylinder # 5 misfire, e ngire not misfiring at this time .i contacted the hyundai consumer assistance center and reported all of the above to them (three calls were made)i was told i would hear back from them last night, but have not.i travel on high speed/traffic roadways often and now i am concerned for the safety of my passengers, drivers/passengers in other cars and my own. I am i to know if the car is going to stall again, and if i am aware of a change in it's operation how i can feel safe not knowing if i will be able to pull to the shoulder before this happens.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that the vehicle's subframe and suspension were severely rusted and corroded. The oil pan, fuel tank, fuel tank clamps, rear chassis cradle, and front end suspension (including the struts, sway bars, sway bar clamp, sway bushings) were replaced by an independent mechanic. Garber hyundai (5450 bay rd, saginaw, mi) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact indicated that the vehicle still experienced front end vibration while driving. The vin was not available. The failure mileage was 155,000.

The car stalls then cuts off while in motion.

I was out of my town picking up a toddler i was going to babysit that night, i also had my own 1.5 year old in the vehicle, on my way back home the vehicles check engine light came on, and the car would not accelerate. We were in heavy traffic going roughly 50 mph at the time this occurred. I pulled into the nearest gas station turned the vehicle off then started it back up again and the check engine light was off. I pulled out of the gas station and no more than 5 minutes later as i was making a lane change again around 50 mph the same thing happened and the vehicle quickly decelerated and the car behind me almost hit us! i had to babies in the car under 2 years old! i limped my way to the nearest autozone and the computer read out a misfire in cylinder 5. I lived approximately 15 miles away and had to drive home on the interstate going maybe 40 mph with my caution lights on while heavy traffic flew by at 70 mph!i have had my spouse look at it and we have tried several things and the check engine light will come on intermittently reading the misfire in cylinder 5 every time. We are going to try replacing the spark plugs wires and coil pack, but after a ton of research i have little to no faith this will work.i have only owned the car for 4 days and it has 118900 miles on it. I am now nervous to take this vehicle anywhere outside of town let alone on the interstate that run directly through my town!

Letter to nstb and ma attorney general, re hyundai underbody corrosionon 8/6/2015 i received a hyundai "service campaign notification" on my 2005 tucson for "under body corrosion." i did have the recall service completed.('arrests' it, they claim, but not removes it.)by that date i had already experienced two failures caused by the corrosion, both of which i believe had high potential for serious, even fatal accidents.the repairs cost almost $2,000, but they refused to reimburse.i am more concerned with the safety issues. Luckily, the fuel tank falling onto the drive shaft did not rupture and explode.the right front control arm failure caused loss of steering control and an abrupt stop into the right curb.had it been the left front,, i would have been steered into oncoming traffic.had it been at turnpike speed i suspect a likely rollover.the left front arm was also near failure.i sent two emails to hyundai, and made a number of calls, in part requesting repair reimbursement, but more importantly to tell them my concern the car was unsafe to drive.i asked them to buy it back at a fair price. No response.twice, they promised to contact me in 2 to 5 days, they didn't, ever..when i later called them and told them i had sold the car (at a loss in value) they just brushed me off.(to paraphrase them: 'it's no longer an issue since you now don't own it').i can provide documents (repair invoices, with findings, and emails if you wish).i am requesting you take action to investigate, and as needed, take action to issue stronger sanctions against hyundai, they should be forced to recall all the affected cars.

I own a 2005 bought brand newhyundai tucsan.today we went to put something in the hatch using the window and it fell into my hands. The latches are so corroded that they just fell off. This should not be happening to a 6 yr old vehicle.

While opening the rear hatch window of my 2005 hyundai tucson, both window hinges broke and the window fell into my hands.the vehicle was parked in the driveway.when i called the dealer he said the hinges were $97. A piece and said he had a lot of them in stock (which leads me to believe this happens a lot more frequently than is reported!)

I bought my hyundai tuscon brand new back in 2005. Last week i noticed a rattling sound coming from the rear windshield and when i went to check it the back windshield almost has fallen out. The latch that holds the windshield in place has corroded completely. I can honestly say that over the 5 years i have owned the vehicle i hardly open the back window. I usually open the entire tailgate when placing items for storage. I have contacted the dealer and hyundai about the issue looking to get the latch replaced and haven't heard anything back from them. I have tried on several attempts since i notice the problem. This is dangerous and could cause the windshield to come falling out.

I have a 2005 hyundai tucson i have several problems with my vehicle none of which the dealer says he can find but before i crash or loose my life i would like fix.today, august 1, 2006, i was traveling down the highway at normal speeds and when i step on the brake to slow down they gave. When i removed my foot they were still pumping by themselves. I pulled off the highway and turned off the car when i turned back the car the ep light stated it was off.then, when it is raining my brakes will lock and i go sliding. The other problem that i have is sometimes my car doors open and sometimes they don't.if i use the alarm they wont budge if i open the door with the key then sometimes the alarm goes off.then sometimes the passenger door and the hatchback door i have to pull hard to open this door.this are the problems the dealer can not seem to find.the other problems he fixed the compartment for my glasses didn't open right from the day i got it, the mats first put in the car used to fold up when driving because they didn't have a latch, the stabilizer light would go on and the passenger and the driver seat latch where the sits go back cracked.all these wonderful things have been occurring from the first day of purchase to now.i traded in my elentra for a suv thinking it would be better but i never had problems like this.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, she attempted to accelerate further, but the vehicle would not accelerate beyond that speed. The vehicle remained stuck in third gear while the contact attempted to accelerate further. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer at least six times, but they were unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and referred the contact back to the dealer. The failure mileage was 47,000.

Well tranmission its shaking when i go over 65mph and this is not normal.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. After the contact released the brake pedal and depressed the accelerator pedal, the vehicle failed to accelerate. The contact stated that the failure also occurred while driving up a hill. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where the alternator and serpentine belt were replaced, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and the contact was informed that the plant that built the vehicle was not included in the recall. The failure mileage was 159,000.

Transmission keeps slipping out of gear when you put into gear and car won'tmove. You stop at a light and even though car is in gear it won't move.flip it back and forth on auto gear shift sometimes it moves.other times it changes gears or slips out.

Vehicle will start moving if on an incline while in park.dealer has adjusted shifter cable several times and keeps returning to the being able to push the car while in park condition 9-12 months later.their appears to be no fix.

Dt*:the contact stated while starting the vehicle, it lurched forward and would not engage into gear.also while driving, the 4wd light intermittently illuminated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times who could not duplicate the problem.

The problem was discovered after a stop for fuel during a highway trip.there was no indication of trouble before we stopped for fuel.when we attempted to return to the road we found that the transmission would not engage in either a forward or reverse gear.after checking atm fluid and finding it correct we tried again and found same problem.we finally found that if we increased enginer rpm to approximage 3000 rpm the transmission would begin to engage in third gear with some slippage.the slippage continued until we reached the approximate speed for normal third gear.at normal highway speed the car operated normally but would never shift into 4th gear.we wre able to get home and to the dealer.they told us the transmission had failed and would need to be replaced.one week later after installation of the transmission we were told they did not like the sound of the power steering and would replace that component as well.another week later we got our vehicle back. The dealer claimed they had not seen this problem nor had they been notified of this problem by other dealers.this occurred at 9500 miles.

I was driving down the highway at 60mph when the vehicle made a loud sound a roughly jerked forward and continued to do so as the car gradually downshifted.the car was found to have a defected transmission control moduleand they needed to replace the transmission due to this.this vehicle only had approx 5900 miles on it at this time.recieved the vehile 9 days later and had the car for 1 day when it continued to have more problems related to the transmission.in addition to this problem, the first few days of owning this vehicle i had to stop the vehicle abruptly and the car accelerated instead. I have read that others have experienced something similiar to this in the hyundai sante fe

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated while driving 45 mph, the engine completely shut down when the accelerator was no longer depressed. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, and the manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was repaired. Thefailure mileage was 57,000 and the current mileage was 57,500.

My wife's hyundai tucson (either 2005 or 2006) almost caused an accident today when the acceleration became erratic and then stalled while at an intersection.she immediately brought it into our hyundai service center.i spoke with a service manager to tell him about a tps (throttle position sensor) problem that i have found out about specific to the 05-06 hyundai tucson. I also called hyundai because this problem will not show up as a 'fault code'.i have included here one of many notes found on the internet concerning this same problem:after having our 2006 tucson in the dealer's service shop for over three days, it was determined that the car needed a new tps(throttle position sensor). This was after they contacted hyundai techline and after i suggested that they test the tps as a possible cause (came to this conclusion after reviewing many websites/autoforums. Some facts: you will notice a stuttering or jerking feeling almost as if you had a manual transmission, were downshifting and releasing the clutch quickly when the engine rpm was not matched to the lower gear, or as if you tapped on the brake twice while decelerating. This motion can be either very slight or rather violent (once caused us to be actually pushed against our shoulder seat belt. 1. Almost always occurs when either coasting or decelerating, never when accelerating. 2. Usually happens between 40 -45 mph.3. No fault code ever comes up so don't even have the tech waste his time. The service department drove the car for over three total hours to try to get a fault code reading with no results.4. Car will stall when coming to a stop 50% of the time.5. Happens when the transmission is warm. 6. Feels like transmission is trying to figure out what gear it wants to go into when decelerating.

New hyundai tucson 5 speed manual 4 wheel drive(2005)with less than 400 miles driven, the shift live broke off inside transmission.this was life threatining. I was in the center lane east bound on the cross bronx exp. Car could not move. I was about one mile east of the g.w. Bridge.the problem was the shift lever cable assembly defective. It was replaced.

Dt: consumer stated: shift lever cable assembly broke while in traffic and vehicle had less 400 miles. Was slowing down, changing gears and broke off inside. Vehicle was stuck in center lane, and no for warning.

My daughter rear-ended another vehicle at approximately10 mph the airbags did not deploy and the seatbelts did not lock.she hit her head and chest on the steering wheel.she now has severe whiplash and bruising.

Brake light and battery light are staying on

There are multiple recalls on this vehicle, but when i researched on the nhtsa website. It claimed 0 recalls... I'm confused!!!!! when i researched on another site it gave me 4 different recalls. And this vehicle is displaying problems that describes at least 2 of these recalls. Brake lights not working. And also slight pull when accelerating. Recall numbers 05v119000 and 09v122000. I was in motion when another driver pulled on side of me and informed me that mybrakes lights were not working. And i also believe that i am having problems with my electronic stability control.

Called the dealer to fix recalls 068 esp...071 parking brake....079 airbag system....and 092 stop lamp switch, dealer indicated that my car vin number not included, the esp light wont go off on my car, it is always on. Please advice what steps to take.thanks

Necesito ayuda urgene, please. Received complaint written in english.

Brake lights fail to illuminate when brake pedal depressed. Esp (vehicle stability control) light on dash remained illuminated.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving at 30 mph on normal road conditions, the vehicle's abs wheels locked up which resulted in lost power.the brakes started to pulsate and the contact pulled over to inspect the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to the service dealer who performed a diagnostic test and replaced the c-f brake disc on both sides of the brake.the esp light was checked and was replaced.recall campaign # 50b035r1 performed recall campaign id as required #922 campaign perform recall 068 esp-hecu reprograming 51b003r0

Complete brake failure.this is the third occasion that the brakes on my 2005 hyundai tucson have failed.so far all three of the incidents have occurred while trying to gradually brake from a speed of around 35 mph.the brake peddle travels all the way down as if there was no resistance and the car keeps on going.the only way that i was able to come to a skidding halt was by using the emergency brake lever.i have had the hyundai dealership inspect the auto but they were not able to find anything that would cause the brakes not to work.it's a accident waiting to happen.

Electronic stability control program with traction control continually breaks down affecting the anti- lock brake system.

The vehicle shut down while driving.dealer replaced the esp module twice.the brakes were affected by this module, which caused the anti-lock brakes to come on, making the vehicle spin out of control.the factory representative came out three timesand the part was defective that they provided.

Looses power steering after going through adeep puddle.

While driving in the rain the battery light and brake light come on, the steering wheel freezes and power seems to lessen in the car.after afew seconds the steering resumes.has occurred during a turn, making the car go straight.there is no power over the steering when this occurs, however, the brakes do work.the steering wheel becomes extremely rigid where it cannot be turned. Has happened on at least 3 different occasions.almost hit by another car three times.the car has been taken back to the dealer two other times with no relief.they do not seem to know how to fix it.i have seen this on this site under steering:hydraulic power assist system.

My axle nuts are seriously corroded, to the point they no longer look like nuts. I'm very concerned the axles may separate from the wheels.

2005 hyundai tuscon, rear sub-frame completely rotted out.the garage was shocked to see where the 4 bolts are to hold the crossbar completed broke off!while driving on the highway at 65 mph, and changing lanes the vehicle seemed to have a delayed reaction or like it was "fish-tailing".the incident didn't happen on the highway, however when turning a corner on my street, suddenly a loud rubbing sound and grinding sound happened and the vehicle waved side to side while trying to drive it up the street.the steering was extremely loose and it felt like it was going to crash into the side of the road on the curb.there was rubber from the tire on the inside wheel well on the piece that covered the shocks. Hyundai replacement parts is almost $1000!!!.....updated 10/01/15

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that while driving 65 mph, the power steering assist failed, causing the steering wheel to tighten. The failure recurred on several occasions. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis but they were unable to duplicate the problem. The manufacturer was not notified. The approximate failure mileage was 64,000.

Power steering fails while traveling through small pools of water on the road.the brake light on the advisory panel illuminates throughout the failure.after progressing through the water, power steering is restored.during a turn, total loss of control is possible.large leverage forces are required to handle the non-assisted steering during failure.hyundai dealer maintenance department reports that this is a know model problem but no remedy exists at this time.maintenance manager says he has had several tucson owners report this problem.

As i was driving down the highway, i noticed that one of the windows in my 2005 hyundai tucson sounded like it had been rolled down. Almost immediately, my daughter yelled, "our window is coming off!" i had just enough time to look in my rearview mirror to see the right rear quarter panel window being held on by just a small strip of some sort of adhesive. In less than a second, the window flew off, began pinwheeling through the air and narrowly missed the vehicle just behind me. Even the repairman at the hyundai dealership that replaced the window for me was speechless when i told him what happened. I contacted hyundai, and all they would tell me is that my car is out of warranty. While it would have been nice for them to offer to pay for the repair, i was much more concerned with their lack of concern for anything other than the fact that the vehicle was out of warranty. They did not ask for any details or offer any concern for the possible damage and/or loss of life that could easily have occurred had that window hit the car behind me.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. While driving approximately 40 mph the vehicle was involved in a crash. After the crash occurred the dashboard fell down on her knees.a police report was filed and she was injured. The vehicle was destroyed and towed an independent repair shop where they were unable to inform her as to why the dashboard fell down. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 30,000.

My 2005 hundai tuscon seems to be of very poor quality.i rarely use the backhatch window, maybe 5 times in the past 10months.the passenger side hinge broke and is totally corroded (sp?) by just opening it an inch by mistake and closing it, it snapped right off.hyundai dealer says "well it is 6yrs old".i also have had an issue since i purchased the vehicle where the power locks go on and off on their own and there is something randomly draining the battery if it is not driven every 24-48hrs.it appears both of these issues have been apparent for many 2005 tuscon owners, and hyundai is failing to acknowledge these factory issues which should have been recalled in my opinion.

During a recent long rain event in the northeast i entered my car to find a 1/2 of sitting water on the passenger side front floor area.the water was trickling from the top portion of the floor mat where it meets the dash.upon removing the glove box and pulling out the cabin filter, i noticed the water coming down through the ac system.dealer looked at the door jams and the hood, and found nothing.no resolution at this time.similar complaint filed on service bulletins.car was parked on a 10 degree angle nose end down.water leak through and near electrical components and near passenger side airbag.loss of airbag integrity with unknown damage if any.mold and mildew damage is a potential heath issue as well.

The second issue was in regards to water pouring through into the inside of the vehicle from behind the glove box on the passenger side.the first hyundai dealer claimed, as they did with the airbag, that there was nothing wrong after they checked it out.despite having water visible on the passenger mat.after the problem persisted, which only occurred after a long or heavy period of rainfall, i took the vehicle to a second hyundai dealer.they checked the issue and said that they replaced some stripping on the body.the first rain yielded a pouring of water onto the floor and a return to the dealer.the second dealer checked this leak again and this time said they replaced the weather stripping.after the first rainfall after receiving the car back i got into the car to find a puddle of water on the floor and lifted the mat on the passenger side to find a soaked carpet.the soaking led under the divider between the passenger and driver floor area and behind the radio.currently i have returned the vehicle for repairs for a 4th time, meeting the lemon requirement if the problem is not corrected.the dealer has had the vehicle 3 days.on day 2 i was to pickup the vehicle to find that the dashboard was damaged during their repairs and they had to keep the vehicle an extra day to replace the dashboard.i am currently awaiting to get my vehicle back to see if the leak has been fixed or not.but this is a major problem as water leaking through areas with electrical components, especially near a improperly working passenger airbag, may cause all sorts of issues.

I own a 2005 bought brand newhyundai tucsan.today we went to put something in the hatch using the window and it fell into my hands. The latches are so corroded that they just fell off. This should not be happening to a 6 yr old vehicle.

When driving through a puddle consumer's hyundai tucson battery and brake light illuminated causing consumer to lose power steering.the problem occured 4 times.the vehicle was taken to the dealer.the dealerknew why the problem was occuring but had no way of fixing it.

The rear window hinges rust out. One hinge rusted out and now the other. If both had gone the window would have fallen out, if on the highway could have been quite serious.

My 2005 hyundai tucson was recalled for rust/corrosion problem on the undercarriage subframe.the service work was done in november, 2015 by my hyundai dealer in plymouth, ma.it was inspected again approximately 1 month later and determined that it needed additional preventative rust recall service work to be done.hyundai motors of america asked for additional photos and another inspection and concluded that they refused to repair more rust problems that had become systemic and will eventually affect the safety of my car as the rust continues to spread over time.this determination came in february, 2016. My car only has 82,000 miles and i was hoping to keep the car for some time longer but now i may not have that option and may not qualify for safety inspections in the future.i have many emails that were exchanged with my hyundai dealer relating to this problem and hyundai service center and hyundai corporation made me wait almost 3 months with continuous trips to the dealer while this issue was being processed.very upset with hyundai motors of america and their unwillingness to co-operate and prevent a serious problem that will ultimately result in a safety problem.i will no longer be a hyundai customer after this ordeal.

Steering wheel material is disintegrating. The material is a rubbery coating and first began cracking and proceeded to come off in larger chunks exposing the inner steel frame. Dealer and hyundai refused to offer resolution.

I went to go open the glass door on the hatch, and one of the plastic hinges completely broke.the window was just hanging crooked.it took some labor to actually get it back into place.

"takata recall" on april 8th approximately 6 o'clock in the morning i was awaken out of my sleep to my car on fire in my yard. I called the firefighter department they came out and said it was from bad electrical wires. My car was in my front yard...i last drove it that night to pizza hut

I have a hyundai that has a severe subframe rust. The dealer states it will only replace the part and nothing more. The subframe is so rusted that the part cannot be attached. They need to replace more than the part on recap to fix it. They have had my vehicle for 3.5 weeks of nothing but the runaround. I need your assistance to get this serious saftey issue fixed. There will be a crash if they don't fix it

The hinges on the back window hatch of my 2005 hyundai tucson just broke.for no reason, while opening the window, the entire window popped out at me.i was not seriously injured, however you would think that a vehicle of this age would not fail like this.it took me and my husband together pushing to get it back into place and close.i can no longer us the window opening to access the back of my vehicle - until i pay for repairs.i would like to find out if there have been any other complaints of this kind on either the santa fe or the tucson?

My vehicle was parked in my driveway when i opened the rear hatch. The hinges suddenly disintegrated, busted right off. The rear window fell out striking me. The only way it was being held up and kept from falling to the ground, was by its shocks that keep window up when opened. I see that are numerous reports on this matter from various times. Is there some kind of recall on this problem?

Garber hyundai (5450 bay rd, saginaw, mi) and the manufacturer were notified of the failure. The contact indicated that the vehicle still experienced front end vibration while driving. Rear subframe is rotted. My 17 year old was driving on the highway, she lost control, it could have been tragic.the car has been towed and sitting in a parking lot for 2 months as i can not find this part! my mechanic said it was a recall with these cars.

Severely rusted rear sub-frame.nys inspection station advised the vehicle will likely not pass the nys safety inspection in 2020.

I want to have a four wheel alignment service completed. The automotive technician invited me back to view the underside of my vehicle. What i saw was very disturbing. The whole rear left side of my vehicle is rusted something awful. This subframe is totally rusted through and through. I also recently had to replace rusted out lower control arms.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. While driving at an unknown speed, the rear of the vehicle "fishtailed" and almost crashed. There were no warning indicators illuminated before the failure. The vehicle was driven to the contact's home. The contact inspected the vehicle and noticed that the cross member was severely corroded. The dealer was not notified. Themanufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact to tow the vehicle to a local dealer for diagnostic testing. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was approximately 135,000.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact took the vehicle to vision hyundai webster (755 ridge rd, webster, ny 14580, (585) 787-2111) for an unknown nhtsa campaign for corrosion on the rear subframe. The dealer took photos to submit to the manufacturer for repair approval. The dealer informed the contact that there was an 80% chance that the subframe could fracture and the vehicle would be undrivable. The dealer offered no guarantees that another vehicle would be provided for the contact if the subframe was fractured beyond repair and would charge the contact for further repairs. The contact called the manufacturer and was assigned a case number and case manager. The manufacturer had not called back and the vehicle was currently unrepaired at the contact's home. The contact continued to drive the vehicle and the dealer refused to provide a loaner vehicle. The failure mileage was 161,000.

Front right control arm broke while driving straight at 40 mph, car swerved off the road. Car had to be towed. Mechanic stated it broke due to rust and rot. Both front control arms were replaced. Car has 115k miles. Other complaints found for same issue. Appears to be no recall for this. If traveling on a highway at higher speeds, it could of been a much worse accident.

Rear subframe of the car is very rotten .

On my 2005 hyundai tucson gls (94.5k miles, single owner, garage kept and regularly car washed), lower left control arm was so rusted (holes) to a point that it can be bent with little pressure when pushed against hardware surface. My young adult son was driving the car and it started pulling to side on local state highway. Very very dangerous!! thank god my kids were not in a major crash due to this. The lower right control was rusted as well to a point it may need a replacement in next year or two. Replaced both lower control arms and ball joints at my expense as i figured hyundai will not cover this. There is just so much amount of rust under this car that is unbelievable. In april 2018, local hyundai dealer voluntarily replaced the fuel tank bands (tsb#18-01-015) under a recall #952 (no recall notice received from hyundai) when i went for an oil change, however they made no mention about rusted lower control arms and other rust. I feel that hyundai and it's dealers are aware of sever rusting on 2005 hyundai tucson, but keeping their customers in dark and risking their customers lives!! btw, i own 2006 honda odyssey ex-l with 130k miles has solid control arms with minimal to no rust. I think hyundai may have use a lower quality and low cost material!!

I have a 2005 hyundai tuscon gls 4wd. Although my dealer had the recall repair on the suspension, this suv still has squeaking noise or abrasion noise coming from the right side of the body while i drive above 80 mph on highway. Not everytime, but most time. This noise, followed by some sort of braking really scared me on highway. I had this suv back to dealer twice but they can't fix it.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson.while sitting stationary, the vehicle was involved in a crash and was rear ended.the axle broke in half and the vehicle was towed to a body shop.the mechanic stated that prior to the axle breaking it rusted in half.the driver was injured and received medical attention. Prior to the crash the contact was not experiencing any failures.the weather was not a factor.the contact has pictures and a police report.the current and failure mileage were 30,123.

Mywife and i own a 2005 hyundai tucson.after 20,000 miles we had to replace the tires as the treads were worn all the way down.this occurred in november 2006.we purchased tires with a 60,000 mile tread warranty and obtained an alignment.in april 2008, we were notified that the vehicle would not pass inspection due to extreme treadware.the driver's tire on the inside was at 0 while the rest were around 4. My wife could had suffered a tire blowout.the dealership informed us that some hyundais require additional bolts to get the camber within manufacturers specs,. Bit they do not consider that a warranty issue.this is a matter that affects the safety of the occupants if a vehicle can not be aligned.the tires wore extremely quickly.needless to say, we were forced to have these parts put into the vehicle in order to make it safe.i think that there needs to be a recall for this matter.hyundai is putting cars out there thatdo not comply with there own specs, chew through tires and could potentially cause accidents due to tire blowouts.

The consumer stated after the recall was repaired, the dealer created another problem.the consumer stated since the problem has been going on for so long are problems have surfaced with the transmission and the brakes. The consumer also complained of poor gas mileage.

The car stalls then cuts off while in motion.

While driving up the exit ramp, the frame broke in half in front of the rear tires causing the rear of the car to shake violently and was very hard to control.. According to the service garage it was broken on both sides beyond repair.fortunately i was just exiting the interstate where i was driving at approx. 75 mph.

A representative from the manufacturer stated that they did not have any recalls or warranty for this type of failure, and that they were not surehow to repair the vehicle. 2005 hyundai tucson engine revved up and lurched forward while consumer was trying to park.*mra recall (05v119000) of the automatic stability control was done and the consumer hoped that this would correct the problem but it didn't.after the recall work was done the vehicle hit a handicapped sign while attempting to park damaging his vehicle and another vehicle.

Dt*:the contact stated while starting the vehicle, it lurched forward and would not engage into gear.also while driving, the 4wd light intermittently illuminated.the vehicle was taken to the dealer several times who could not duplicate the problem.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson.the contact stated that the vehicle was hesitant to accelerate when it was first started.while driving 45 mph, the vehicle failed to gain speed.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and the battery was replaced, however, they were unable to duplicate the failure.the dealer advised him to file a complaint.the manufacturer was called, but has not responded.the current mileage was 42,000 and failure mileage was 28,000.updated 01/02/08. *ljupdated 12/12/07

2005 hyundai tucson developed problems with the engine and the engine light.***no answer required***. *mrthe consumer stated the vehicle lack power when taking off.the cruise control disengaged on its own.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that while driving 70 mph with the cruise control engaged, the vehicle unexpectedly accelerated to 80 mph. She had to exert great force during application of the brake pedal to decelerate back to the intended speed. She is in the process of having the vehicle inspected to determine the cause of the failure. The manufacturer was notified. The failure mileage and current mileages were 55,000.

Dt:the contact owns a 2005 hound tucson, while on cruise control it was too tight, causing the rpms to rev. , the dealer repaired. Currently, while on cruise control itwent out of the cruise control and the speed dropped rapidly.the service dealer stated they couldnot find the cause of the problem.thisalmost resulted in two accidents.

The rear window hinges rust out. One hinge rusted out and now the other. If both had gone the window would have fallen out, if on the highway could have been quite serious.

2005 hyundai tucson, purchased used.both sun visors are cracked where they attach to the vehicle.the drivers side visor cannot be used as it swings freely and obstructs vision.the passenger side is cracked in exactly the same way.the sonata visors were recalled, the tucson appears to be the same design but has not been recalled and are very expensive to replace.looking for used parts at junk yards we found all of the visors were cracked in the same manner.appears to be a dangerous, faulty design.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tucson. The contact stated that while opening the hatch door, the rear glass window separated from the frame. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The manufacturer was not made aware of failure. The failure mileage was 118,000.

Was driving to work in the rain/snow from wash, dc; notice unusual loud windshield wipers; suddenly notice that left windshield wiper was wiping off of the window as if were going to fly off..it distracted me to point of almost having a collision; calledalexandria hyuandai from my job in frederick, md and was referred to ideal hyuandai where the srv rep diagnosed the vrh as having a defective w/s transmission...said it would take six wks, then two wks o get the part for this new suv...i really don't feel safe, and want to return it!

My axle nuts are seriously corroded, to the point they no longer look like nuts. I'm very concerned the axles may separate from the wheels.
