The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tiburon. The contact stated that the air bag warning lamp was illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who was unable to diagnose the failure. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure, but offered no assistance and referred the contact to nhtsa. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 73,500 and the current mileage was 74,500.

I started my car at approximately 8 a.m. On 6/26/13 to go to work. One second after the engine fired, the steering wheel airbag blew up in my face. I have never had an accident in this car. The vehicle was stationary at the time and on my property with no evidence of anything out of the ordinary. After some troublesome negotiations, hyundai motor america agreed to make a "one-time goodwill repair" of the vehicle's airbag components in exchange for signing my life away regarding the vehicle. I don't know if they reported this defect to you when i called their regional office in austell georgia on the day of the incident. However, i am reporting it now, in the hope that this doesn't happen to someone driving down a texas highway at 80 mph. Their flippant attitude concerning this, to me,is disturbing. I have not yet had the car repaired and am afraid to drive it.

A car speeding ran a stop sign causing accident with the tiburon with most damage to the entire front of car. The airbags did not deploy. The impact caused total loss to the tiburonand injuries.

Takata recall, couldn't see for a week. Was cut up on left side as was vision gone on left. Suffered and still suffering brain damage from airbag hitting me so hard. That car has ruined my life. I constantly shake from neck up on left side. I wish i would if died in the accident. That's how much it has affected me. I stay in the house by myself all day, every day. Its so embarrassing for me. Severe depression and anxiety have started also. Thank you hyundai for ruining my life at 43 years old. I was stopped at a red light and the woman behind me never slowed down at 55 mph.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 45 mph a vehicle pulled out of a side street hitting the passenger side causing it to spin and the side curtain airbags did not deploy.the passenger side window shattered and the side mirror detached.the driver was wearing a seat belt and a police report was filed at the scene.the vehicle was towed to an independent repair shop for inspection however; the mechanic was unable to duplicate the problem.

2005 hyundai tiberon. Per discussion with the investigating officer, the driver was going around a sharp corner too fast. Lost control of the vehicle (possibly because the esc unit inputs or steering box malfunction) and started fishtailing. Vehicle then slid sideways into another vehicle (side impact). None of the 4 airbags deployed, killing the driver instantly. Accident is still being investigated.

My client, lorie kindrat, was involved in an automobile accident on october 6, 2005.she was driving a 2005 hyundai tiburon equiped with driver front and side air bags.she was struck on the driver's side by a vehicle going approximately 30 mph.the side air bags failed to deploy. She sustained life threatening injuries.

My wife was driving her 2005 hyundai tiburon and all power to the dash and headlights had gone out wile driving at night and she is pregnant too.says it happened more than once.the car has 95,000 miles on it.we are on the 3rd battery.we are not going to spend big bucks taking it into a dealership because from what i have read they haven't fixed anyone's problems.and the car is out of warranty of course.any ideas?

I have had to replace my clutch, dual fly wheel entire clutch system 3 times now in the last 3 1/2 years. Each time costing me anywhere from $2400,- $3,400. No way should a clutch need replaced that much that soon, each clutch lasted approx 13 months. Hyundai wants nothing to do with the problem yet thousands of people are having same issues. Something needs to be looked at. Who can afford this much work every year? no one. I have spent close to $10,000 on 3 clutch jobs in 3 years. I'm taking it to bbb as well.

Exhaust manifold cracked in 3 places

I have an 05 tiburon that was purchased in october of 05. The clutch will not stop racing when shifting gears. We took it in and they said that the flywheel, baring, and disc, are damaged and are not covered under warranty. The warranty only covers up to 12,000 miles and we have 16,900 miles on the car. My daughter uses it to drive to school (about 4 miles) and to work (about 4 miles). This is ridiculous knowing she doesn't race the car or even knows how to pop a clutch. The paint is coming off the gas cover; the seat belt latch sticks; the door handle screwplate insert comes off and the top of the shifter knob still comes off after having it fixed once before. We had to get the transmission repaired when we first got the vehicle because it would not go into reverse. This is all the problems we have so far. Sincerely, [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I was following a hyundai tiburon and when the rear turn signal came on, i was nearly blinded by the turn signal light, which was a clear bulb under a clear lens.this car was fairly new so i don't believe these were replacement bulbs.i suspect that this vehicle was approved with bulbs that had a yellow coating and the manufacturer has substituted clear bulbs.could you please investigate this model and possibly other hyundai models?thank you.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tiburon. The contact stated that the fuel tank leaked fuel profusely, especially when parked on an incline. An unknown red indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to shaker's family hyundai (203-754-9494, located at 674 straits turnpike, watertown, ct 06795) where a smoke test was performed. The dealer diagnosed that there was a fuel leak. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that there was no recall. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 102,966.

I recently took my 05 hyundai tiburon into the zimbrick hyundai dealership in madison wi for service.i am having alignment issues with my vehicle and have had them since i purchased the vehicle.i discovered from the dealership that there is a common problem with the emergency brake system which can cause the rear brakes to lock up while driving.they stated they have worked on 7 or 8 recently where they had to replace the assembly.i see no recalls or tsb's on this issue and it is a serious safety issue that should be addressed.i also am having problems with the dealership covering warranty issues.there are tsb's on my car related to alignment issues the dealership is not aware of or are denying exist.i continually get very poor customer service from this dealer along with the westside of madison zimbrick hyundai location.they constantly do everything they can to get themselves out of having to perform warranty services.i have a severe pull to the right as other have complained about that hyundai considers to be normal.i feel that it is severe enough to where it creates an unsafe driving condition and could potentially cause an accident.i also have abnormal tire wear causing every set of tires i have bought for the car to only last approximately 15,000 miles.all of these issues are related to alignment problems.hyundai refuses to even look at until i agree to pay for it due to hyundai only covering "adjustments" (which alignments apparently fall into) for the first 12,000 miles.so much for my 5 year 60,000 warranty.i have seen other people complain of similar defects in the tiburons and don't know what is being done about it.i also have other numerous problems that have been fixed on this vehicle ranging from electrical to paint defects.i strongly urge the nhtsa and other governing agencies to look into hyundais practices and do something to help out the consumers who are stuck withsub par quality automobiles.

When you are starting out or driving the engine revs up and the gears slip and hesitate going into gear, the gears are slipping bad.

Around 70,000 miles on my 2005 hyundai tiburon, my mechanic friend noticed that the problem i was needing a new clutch. We purchased a clutch kit from duralast/zoom manufactured these parts. The clutch change in a hyundai tiburon is pretty expensive and $1025 was the cheapest i was quoted. The car seemed to be running fine for three days and then all of a sudden my clutch pedal had no resistance against it while i was driving through an intersection and would only shift if i "hard shifted" the clutch or if i pressed down on the clutch pedal as hard as i could. Luckily, the people driving southbound while i turned into their lane had narrowly swerved around my car. I could only imagine if their was a different vehicle coming since i just so happened to be babysitting my friends daughter that day! when i took my vehicle just up the road to the local hyundai dealer, they told me the part was "mislabeled" and in the process the clutch was placed in the car backwards. This "mislabeled" clutch in turn damaged the flywheel, master cylinder, and slave cylinder and i had to pay $3000 more to get my car fixed. Auto zone and the hyundai dealer both told me to talk to the manufacturer since the part is "defective". Finally, around 6 months later of constant phone calls, i get a hold of the right people through zoom manufacturing. They offered me a check for $253. When i talked to the manufacturer about this dilemma, he told me that this is all they can do and "we have honored the claim within the terms and policy with our customer." regardless of zoom manufacturer's terrible customer service, i want to just make sure that these parts are no longer sold to the population. I asked many people in their department if the part was recalled so this didn't happen to someone else and no one gave me an answer. Also, my car is now at 82,000 miles and the clutch is already slipping.

Clutch slippage on my 2005 hyundai tiburon se which i reported to my dealer at lax hyundai before i reach 60,000 miles, i was then told that it was going to cost me upwards to 800 plus dollars just to have it replace. My car is warranted upto 100,000 miles under the hpp program which cover mostly all components on myvehicle. After researching the issue that i am having with my car which was purchased brand new, i discovered a compliant trend for the same problem with my car model beginning since it's introduction in 2003. Researching more into the problem there seems to be a defect in the clutch valve spring the prematurely wears out the clutch. When i took my car in for diagnosis the mechanic even stated that the clutches are bad and that he was shocked that my car lasted as long as it did on the original clutch, something that caused suspicion in how much hyundai backs their own products.

I have a 2005 hyundai tiburon with less that 20000 miles on it, i took the car to the dealer ( rick case hyundai) on weston, florida because the gears when i shift are not working properly, i left the car in the dealer and i receive a call from rick case stating that i have to authorized the 5 hours that will take to diagnostic what was wrong with the car, i told then that this car come with 5 years / 60,000 bumper to bumper miles warranty and i didn't think i was liable for any cost.the dealer when further to say that most likely cause of damage was the clutch on the car and that was not cover under the warranty, i did sign the paper as to the 5 hours to inspect the vehicle at $95.00 per hours which is ridiculous to me that it will take 5 hours to know what's wrong with the car, i further when in to different website on the internet to find about hyundai warranty and if other people had same problems, i was shocked to found that so many people had the same problem with this particular car (tiburon) and that every time hyundai has put the blame on owners stating that they don't know how to drive stick shift, there is even a class action suit in california for the 2003 tiburon after some lawyers have found that hyundai have know in the past that this problem is cause by poor quality parts and that they have make owners like me to pay around $2000.00 for repairs in cars that is supposed to be cover by warranty, hyundai is misleading the public with all those ads about american best warranty, i do believe that you as part of my government should investigate and bring this company to the same standard as to american car manufacture, as of myself i will make sure that everyone knows how this company treat customer and how they lie as to the warranty.

My brand new hyundai tiburon's clutch failed.i felt it slipping for a few days, i did not know it was slipping because i have never felt a clutch slp until this new car, and it went out.i pulled over and got it towed.i was told that the clutch was "wasted" and it would cost $1400.00 to replace.this clutch was less than 18 months old and i have driven manual for years prior to this car.i was told it was my driving ability and that there was no leeway.i saw that there is a class action suit for this type of vehicle and the same story i have is posted all over the internet.this has to be addressed because people are getting their money stolen.i told them i was going to another garage who charge $900.00.when they heard that they lowered their price to $900.if i had not stated another garage they would have hustled me and i'm sure they have hustled others.they have to be stopped.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tiburon.upon purchasing the vehicle, the clutch would stick intermittently.the manufacturer explained that the failure occurred because the vehicle was new.on october 24, 2007, the clutch locked up while driving 15 mph.the contact was eventually able to free the clutch and continue driving.the clutch failed completely and the dealer stated that it was not their responsibility because the vehicle was out of warranty.the contact was informed that if he took the vehicle to a third party, it would not be recognized by the dealer.the vin and engine size were unknown.the current mileage was 24,790 and failure mileage was 24,746.updated 12/12/2007 updated 12/12/07

I drive a 2005 hyundai tiburon v6 with a 6 speed manual transmission. After less than 25k miles my clutch started acting up by not disengaging the engine when pressing the clutch down. This happened suddenly one day when i was at a light and when it turned green i put it into first and the car lunged forward and stalled.i took it to the dealer and they told me that i needed a complete new clutch and the plate was completely worn (which it is still not worn and i now have 73k on it because i use it for a delivery car.)however, the clutch pedal is still a growing problem.as i let out the clutch in any gear it is not a smooth engagement, but a very harsh and abrupt engagement causing the car to leap at any gear with the petal almost fully to the floor.i have been pulled over 2 times at a stop light for "unnecessary acceleration" because i barked 1st gear.each time i was able to get out of it by letting the officer test drive the car in the parking lot.also for the past 20k miles i have had trouble changing gears, it has been random but has been happening more frequently, when ever i would change gears while moving with clutch fully pressed the gears have ground and i sometimes can not get the car into any gear unless i match the rpms to the correct speed for the gear.i might as well be driving with out a clutch.the worst problem: when the jumpy clutch and the non-disengagement combine in stop and go traffic or in reverse.the car will lunge forward when i only intend it to go about a foot and i have to slam the brakes on to fight the car from pulling forward with the clutch pressed down as i ripped the gear out of first... Which takes a modest amount of strength.this car is not safe to drive but i have to for work. I am an easy driver on the car too, 73k miles and there is no clutch slip.

I am a tiburon owner and one of the many who have forked over my own cash to replace what should have been covered under warranty. I purchased my car in april 2005 new. It is the 2005 tiburon gt v6 2.7 liter 5 speed manual. I know the lawsuit states that the lawsuit is for the 2003 6 speeds but needless to say if you go to www.newtiburon.com (an internet gathering place for all tib owners) that v6 tiburons from 2003 to 2005 have had clutch problems. Not every single one, but i would say the majority.at or around 10,000 miles into owning my first ever "brand new" car i noticed slow acceleration and the clutch felt loose. This was around late august or early september 2005. I immediately took it to the dealership remembering that i had "america's best warranty" and had them look at it. I was called three days later (while i was paying for a rental car to get to and from) and asked to come in to the hyundai dealership where i purchased my vehicle. Upon arrival the service manager escorted me into the repair area where i saw my car in pieces and i was shown the clutch and flywheel. I was told "we have never seen a clutch this bad" and i had obviously abused my car. I explained i have driven stick cars for over 200,000 miles in my life and only once had a new clutch installed. These guys seemed like a pack of wolves in their approach which had obviously been done to other tiburon owners. They said, "well, we can fix it but it's going to be $2,100, including labor."i was told abuse isn't covered; sorry. I knew at this point i had been had and there was nothing i could do about it. I went ahead and placed the charge on my emergency credit card and they proceeded with the new parts and installation.as you may or may not know the tiburon transmissions were produced in bulk and even though my car was a 2005 i can guarantee you that some parts could possibly be from 2003 including the frame, the clutch, and other "bulk made" parts.

I bought a 2005 hyundai tiburon gt manual transmission on may 18, 2007.the clutch failed the first day i bought the car.car lot agreed to put new clutch in.three months later the transmission bearings broke.i replaced flywheel and had transmission rebuilt.2 months after that the bearings broke again.i had hyundai do the work on the transmission rebuilt. I am out of pocket $2,000, not to mention the upside down amount i was when i had to get out from underneath this car, because i cannot afford to put $2,000 in the car every 3 months.

At approximately 9,500 miles, my 2005 hyundai tiburon began to have clutch problems. Dealership said it was from abuse since the car was driven by my 18-year old daughter. They said it was not covered under warranty, but that the would replace the clutch under warranty this time only. If there was a next time, it would cost me $1,700. After the repair i began driving the tiburon and after approximately 3,000 miles, the clutch is slipping again. I am a 57-year old female who does not abuse this car.

Clutch is my 2005 hyundai tiburon is malfunctioning, dealer says not covered under warranty because wear and tear part, after searching internet forums found that alot of clutch/flywheel problems are occurring in similar vehicles from hyundai. Cause appears to be manufactures defect that they are not addressing. Only 60k miles on vehicle and have driven a stick shift for last 10 years regular wear and tear clutches will wear out around 75k to 115k under my driving conditions.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tiburon. While driving approximately 65 mph with the cruise control engaged, the tachometer suddenly began to increase and the speedometer decreased. The contact disengaged the cruise control and shifted into in a lower gear but the failure continued. The vehicle was towed to a local repair shop where the contact was informed that the failure was caused by the design of the fly wheel. The dealer stated that they were not responsible for the failure. The vehicle had not been repaired. The current and failure mileages were 53,400. Updated 03/15/11*ljupdated 03/21/11

Drove my hyundai tiburon normally since august 2007 when i purchased the car. By june 2008 the clutch began to slip, and progressively become worse and would slip in any gear at any rpm. I had to purchase an aftermarket clutchmasters clutch and fidanza flywheel to replace the prematurely failed clutch that only had 20,000 miles on it.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai tiburon.while driving in reverse with the brake pedal depressed, the vehicle would not stop.the contact crashed into a wall.he took the vehicle to the dealer, but they could not duplicate the failure or repair the vehicle.the contact filed a complaint with the manufacturer.the powertrain and speed were unknown.the current and failure mileages were 19,000.

- the contact stated that on two occasions while drivingthe 2005 hyundai tibron with 16,837 failure mileage at 35 mphand coming to an intersection, he put the foot on the brake, and the brake pedal did not move, and the vehicle did not stop.the vehicle had to be stopped with the emergency brake. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, who could not duplicate the problem.the contact was asked to return if the problem occurred again.the current mileage was 16,852.

Steering had a twitch which mad it a challenge to steer, as a result which led to a crash thepassenger fronttie rod assembly cracked while driving at 35 mph, and disengaged from the vehicle and the vehicle then dipped to theground suddenly and bounced causing the vehicle to literally go airborn for a brief moment which then caused the vehicle to go out of control.

Since i've purchased this vehicle, i initially told the dealer that there was something wrong with the steering. They, jeff wyler claimed to have looked at the car and stated nothing was wrong. Now at 44,000 miles, another dealer states that the tie rods have excessive wear and need to be replaced. This issue has been going on for over 4 years and still no resolution. I have since found that there has been a recall, but when i contact hyundai, they state that my car doesn't fall into that recall. I am upset and confused, that a car that initially had 9700 miles when purchased in 2006 that now has 44000 5 yrs later has excessive wear on the tie rods. I have asked for an explanation, yet i am only getting the run around. I need help!

Purchased vehicle on april 25, 2005.vehicle was under recall for steering: gear box (other than rack and pinion). Consequence would prevent steering control of that front wheel by the separated tie rod which could result in a crash.recall was issued on april 8, 2005 and owners were to be called and instructed not to drive the vehicles.i was not notified of this recall when i purchased this vehicle.

Front right control arm rusted until it failed while driving.very dangerous! 2003 hyundai tuburons have a recall for this but 2005 does not.it should because hyundai obviously did not fix that underlying issue.

The contact owns a2005 hyundai tiburon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 40 mph, the steering wheel suddenly malfunctioned. The contact was able to stop the vehicle and discovered that the front driver's side control arm had become separated from the frame. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified but no solution was offered. The failure mileage was 86,000.

I have had to replace my clutch, dual fly wheel entire clutch system 3 times now in the last 3 1/2 years. Each time costing me anywhere from $2400,- $3,400.
