On october 28th at 11:00pm, we were driving at the rate of 55 to 60 mph andwe hit a deer.the deer was a buck and from my understanding, it would be worth 8 points while hunting.the deer smashed into the front my car and rolled many times on the left of us.the deer died instantly from the accident.when the impact happened, the car shut off and the only light on the dash board that was on was the airbag light.we could smell a burnt powder smell inside of the car as well. The airbags did not deploy.i am very concerned about this since we were going so fast and we hit a large deer head on.even if the car is able to be fixed, i am going to be afraid to drive the car again or sell it to anyone due to the safety issues.i have called the dealer regarding this situation and i am waiting to hear back.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.while driving 60 mph, the air bags deployed without a crash.the dealer stated that they would not inspect the vehicle because it was no longer under warranty.the vehicle is still at the dealer and they refuse to inspect it or make any repairs.the failure and current mileages were 74,184.

This report is being filed by an accident reconstructionist at the request of the vehicle's insurance carrier. Vehicle was proceeding in the left lane of a 4-lane (2 lanes in each direction, divided by a double-yellow center-line) state highway when operator's airbag deployed for no apparent reason, causing loss of control. The vehicle then drifted leftward across center-line and both oncoming lanes, and came to rest after mounting the curb and colliding with a fire hydrant. Event was witnessed by two, separate, independent and involved motorists. Vehicle's owner was the only occupant and was injured. Owner purchased used vehicle in january, 2012 reported previous trouble with clutch, transmission, and that mileage at the time of incident is on known due to the for replacement of the operator's console, and was therefore estimated. Its speed at the time is also estimated at 40 mph, the posted speed limit.

She inspected the vehicle and confirmed that she had not crashed into anything. She sustained injures to her neck, shoulder and arm.she also stated that the drivers seat was torn. The following day, the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer.the dealer performed an air bag diagnostic test and suggested that the left seat back modular wiring and sensor be replaced. The air bag and the tear in the seat were repaired by a relative. The sensor was never replaced. The approximate failure mileage was 86,000 and the current mileage was 120,000.

Dt*: the contact stated the driver seat belt and airbag lights illuminated.when the seat was repositioned, the seat belt light went out, but the airbag light remained illuminated.the vehicle was not included in recall #02v290000, regarding seatbelts:front:buckle assembly due to the vin.the service dealer determined the seat belt buckle needed to be replaced to fix the issue.

This just happened one day. My air bag warning light came onthe dash, and when i fastened in my seat belt it starts dinging like it's not fastened. It's annoying as i drive down the road. I've checked the air bag fuses and they are fine.

Takata recall air bag light remains on door handles inside and outside constantly break off even after being replaced by factory parts leaving occupants trapped in car also replaced camshaftcontoller cause wiring is melting. Contacted brandon hyundai dealer service dept they told me handles had been already replaced before and refused to repair also they lied and told me there were no further recalls for my vehicle but when i googled there are actually around 10 recalls for my vehicle and hyundai refuses to fix or even admit there is a recall..my control arms need replacing also.

Took vehicle to the dealer to check the air bag warning light. They said it was caused by the seat belt and wiring that needed to be replaced. After checking the recall information, there was a recall (056) under campaign number 02v290000. The dealer stated that the recall was not for my vehicle which was a 2003 hyundai tiburon. I called hyundai and spoke with their rep and she said the same even though the recall includes 2003 hyundai tiburons. This fix will cost me close to $400.00 just to pass inspection. Makes you wonder what was done on vehicles produced after march 2003 that was claimed to correct this issue, considering so many tiburons that were produced after this date are having the same issue. I currently own 3 hyundais, very disappointed as this car has only 79961 miles.updated 09/15/15*lj

Clutch failed at 44,000 miles after buying car used. Service department would not fix , stated it was wear and tear.cost $1500 to fix. Airbag light stays on, past 65,000 so service department wont fix it unless i pay for it. Hatch back latch wont work, $200 to fix that. Headlights burn out every other month. Brought car to service center because of a noise in the front of car. Said they couldnt hear anything. 2000 miles over my warrentee brought car back because it was getting worse, said it was front wheel assembly andwould cost $1000 to fix. During cold weather emergency brake sticks took it in and they couldnt find anything wrong, go figure. Seats wont latch sometimes after letting someone out from the back. Is there a end to the problems that i have with this hyundai.

Consumer stated while traveling at normal speed, another driver hit consumer which caused the throttle to stick.consumer lost control and only the front passenger airbag deployed. The seat belt was on and consumer will send pictures. Please provide any further information. *ph

Having the same problem as most stated! seatbelt dings constantly when not buckled and air bag light on at all times. Found the recall. Took it to a dealership who said my car was not covered under the recall. If my car is having the recalled problem and is a 2003, and it is a consistent problem for others... It should be covered! i refuse to settle for anything less! because of this issue and hyundai's lack of taking responsibility for their problem, i will never purchase a hyundai again.

-4 transmission/clutch failures-defective brake line-defective wheel hub -defective wheel bearing and knuckle-many other dangerous defects-all were repaired, most were covered under warranty after much dispute-no old parts available, but all repair orders are.

My hyundai tiburon 2003 is just over 60k miles and the airbag light is on. At the very beginning, it stays on longer than it should be. Several days later, the light isalways on.

Noticed air bag light was on in my son's car when i drove over the weekend. Looked online found out there was a recall on 2003-2008 tibruons in regards to air bag/drivers side seat belt buckle safety issue. Called hyundai 1-800 to no avail took to columbia hyundai dealer today. They stated was driver side belt buckle which was making air bag light come on and wanted $397 to repair. I told them is safety issue already $14 million lawsuit against hyundai for same thing they told me to come get car. Called back hyundai service just a few minutes ago. They refused any help.

Since we purchased this vehicle new we have replaced the battery twice, the clutch, fly wheel, slave cylinder, three times, a coolant leak fixed, the window motor and it is currently at the repair shop.we also have had to replace all four tires and have the vehicle aligned.the air bag light is also on at this time.the thing that makes me angry is that a service technician has seen or vehicle twiceand said our vehicle was fine.so, why did the clutch go out 10 days later?

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.the contact stated that the air bag warning indicator remains illuminated in the vehicle.he took his vehicle to the dealer and was informed that the driver's seat belt buckle wiring caused the air bag wiring lamp to illuminate.the failure could also cause the air bag fuse to open and prevent air bag deployment.the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 02v29000 (component: seat belts:front:buckle assembly).the contact would have to pay $300 for the repair.the manufacturer agreed with the dealer.the contact stated that he just purchased the vehicle five days prior to the failure.the failure mileage was 65,000. 4/01/09 *njupdated 04/06/09.

The airbag in my car is on permanently. I researched the problem and found that there was a recall for this. It is caused by a wiring problem with the driver side seatbelt buckle under the seat.i was told that my vin is not included in the recall. I replaced the seatbelt buckle and within a month the airbag light was back on.

The vehicles hood popped up while driving which caused an accident.the driver and passenger air bags did not deploy. *nlm

I have never received any recall notices at my address, by phone email, not even face to face with the dealer when i took the car to the dealership. I stumbled across this by accident trying to find online how to fix my electronic key, that was friday, february, 28, 2014. From 2002 to now, no mail, except to extend my warranty. They could reach me then. The dealer never informed me or said anything about a recall on my airbags, light has been on for years, i was told the airbag was no big deal, seatbelt replacement, fuel tank, suspension, i got locked in the car and i couldn't get out, i never know if i will be able to get my car to unlock. It locks itself which is scary, i am florida and if i get locked in again, with no a/c i can die quickly, it is called barters syndrome so i am on disability, i cannot keep potassium in my body which in a car locked in i could easily die, i can the dealer didn't utter the work recall or anything close to the word.he gave meprices to fix all these problem on the link below he is giving me these prices like i have to fix these at my expense am supposed to fix these recalls. If i can't get help or guidance i justthe car the until it does kill me., then my family will sue, will sue hyundai and anyone else.the neurosurgeon's atmayo clinic said if i have anaccident i will either be dead or in a wheelchair. How do i find any one to helpthe car has on it at this time 3/4/14, 42,282thousand miles.http://www.automd.com/recall/hyundai_m/tiburon_mm/2003_y/.

I co-own this car with my daughter. The air bag light came on and would not go off. We found out about safety recall 02v290000 which specified that on 2003 tiburons the driver seat belt buckle could be damaged by the height adjuster mechanism, resulting in failure of the air bag or the permanent lighting of the air bag light with failure to deploy on impact. The dealer refused to fix it because hyundai claims the problem was fixed by march 2003 and will not agree to fix cars manufactured afterward. Hyundai protection plan refused to cover repair because they say this is part of the cars restraint system excluded by the warranty. Paid to have it fixed jan 2009. Problem has now recurred in sept 2010 and dealer says i will have to pay to repair again because parts and service are only covered for 12 months. Meanwhile, my daughter is driving a potentially unsafe car.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.the air bag indicator is illuminated and will not dim.the driver's side seat belt buckle wiring is preventing the air bag from deploying in the event of a crash.nhtsa campaign id number 02v290000 (seat belts:front:buckle assembly) was referenced.the dealer and manufacturer stated that there were no recalls on the vehicle.the failure mileage was 79,000.

2003 tiburon : my lights started going on and off on their own and indicator lights on and off erratically. Air bag light stayed on i went off the road at 100k and airbag did not deploy also having alternator problems melting fan switch and attaching harness rear wiper failed, trunk release fail, both door locks failed cant lock my car anymore. Alot of safety issues that seem to be really common all related to bcm computer and electrical wiring cheap and dangerous. I have also had a head gasket go while the car was under warranty and the dealership refused to replace saying it was detergent in my oil i have worked on cars my whole life and been a mechanic for the last 12 years had to replace the head gasket myself after the warranty ran out. Transmission shift solenoid also failed from 1 to 2nd gear dealership replaced the transmission for that one. I have had a very bad experience with hyundai service i had plugs fouling because of the head gasket leaking and capital hyundai said it was my plugs which were ngk and only a few months old they were fouled hyundai wanted $100 to replace them i said i would do it myself and when i got there they had six plugs in a box ngk and champion six plugs in all i only have a 4 cylinder car i don't know where the extra plugs came from. After the head gasket was changed amazingly my detergent stopped, my engine didn't make oil and the antifreeze stayed in the rad lol. What a coincidense.cant believe that they are able to do this i love my car but the problems that im having and lack of service and lies on behalf of the staff i will never buy a hyundai again. P.s. Getting a new car.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon. The contact started the ignition and the air bag warning indicator illuminated on the instrument panel. The warning indicator remained illuminated continuously until the engine was turned off. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer and repaired however one week later, the failure recurred. On a separate occasion the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic who refused to repair the vehicle and recommended that the vehicle be taken to a dealer. The contact referenced nhtsa campaign id number: 03v321000 (air bags: frontal) but the vin was not included in the recall. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the problem. The approximate failure mileage was under 100,000. The vin was unavailable.

Air bag light comes on intermittently during vehicle operation. Brought vehicle to dealer without results. I am still fighting with them to look into this matter especially after reading all the complaints filed concerning air bag malfunctions. I am concerned for my safety and the safety of my family. Something must be done hyundai must be held accountable for their negligence.

My air bag light has currently been on for almost a year now at first if i wiggled the seat belt latch it would go off but now it stays on.when i contact the dealership they say that my car is not affected by the seatbelt recall.they want to charge me all this money for something that should be covered by the recall.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundia tiburon gt. As the contact started the ignition, the air bag warning indicator illuminated. The warning light remained illuminated until the engine was turned off. My son's 2003 hyundai tiburon has the exact same problem as the current recall that is only for hyundai's azera model (2005-08) which is a problem with the seat belt sensor that prevents airbag deployment.why is their no recall on the 03 tiburon's when so many others complain of the same thing on the internet??? it is expensive to replace the seat belt assembly (about $500) & i worry about my son's safety.he also has a problem with his turn signal not working & it is related to the body control module which the dealer wants $1000 to fix.many others on the internet also complain & also no recalls on his year & model.my son has a friend with the exact same car that just paid the $1000 to get his bcm replaced.my son can't afford these expensive fixes.what gives that there is no recall on these two items when so many others have complained of similar problems???

Recall id# 4217 and id# 74501 for a 2003 hyundai tiburon deal with the drivers seat belt buckle wiring causing the air bag light to illuminate.my air bag light keeps on turning on, even after my local mechanic checked the air bag and reset the light and turned it off.i finally had a hyundai dealership check into it and they found that it is caused by the problem described in these recalls, however my vin does not fall into the category that these two recalls are for.this recall must be expanded to more 2003 hyundai tiburons as it is a known problem and i should not have to pay to have air bags that work correctly.

I was involved in a single car accident on i-75 near richmond, ky.. I hit a guard rail head on while avoiding another car. The passenger side airbag deployed, but the driver side did not. Injuries were head, neck , and back. Treated and released in hospital e r .

While driving 30 mphside air bag inadvertently deployed, causing consumer to hit a curve. Vehicle sustained damage.consumer took vehicle to dealership before this incident because air bag lightwas on while driving.however, this problem was not resolved.

I co-own this car with my daughter. The air bag light came on and would not go off.this caused her to fail inspection in virginia.we found out about safety recall 02v290000 which specified that on 2003 tiburons the driver seat belt buckle could be damaged by the height adjuster mechanism, resulting in failure of the air bag or the permanent lighting of the air bag light with failure to deploy on impact.the dealer refused to fix it because hyundai claims the problem was fixed by march 2003 and will not agree to fix cars manufactured afterward.my daughter's car was produced in may2003, making the window between eligibility and non-eligibility only 32 days from march 31 to may 1.we have spent hours trying to get this problem fixed.hyundai cannot explain why, if the problem was fixed as of march 2003, there are cars suffering from the exact same problem and manufactured less than two months later.i am still working to get them to underwrite repairs.meanwhile, my daughter is driving a potentially unsafe car, we've spent hours going to dealerships to get them to look at it and arguing on the phone with hyundai and its dealers, and we have both lost a lot of time from work and suffered great aggravation.

I was involved in a car accident: a front-end collision. The insurance company has totaled my car. My drivers side air bag did not deploy. The passengers side did. I have injuries. And most likely will be going for surgery. There was smoke from under the hood. I really want to know if my air bag was faulty. I see there are recalls on my car (hyundai tiburon) for faulty seat belt mechanism, which effects the fuse, which blows out and never sends the signal to the driver airbag. Was this the cause of my faulty airbag? or is it something else? was my individual car recalled for that faulty devise?was my car overlooked because of the timing of the recall and the time of my purchase? i am the second owner. Is there anyway to check my individual auto? i bought my car certified pre-owned. And it was only dealer serviced. We buy new cars for safety features. We get discounts on insurance rates for: having these features on our cars; there are lights on the dashboard that tell us we need fuel; that our doors are open; that we need to check the engine; that we have abs breaks; even to tell us that we need to wear our seat belts. There is even a light that says we have an airbag. But nothing, to my knowledge, says check the airbag and make sure it is working. This is a life saving devise. Why are there no regular check-ups, for the airbag, to make sure it works when you need it? this should be mandatory for all vehicles!!! why did my airbag not work? again, is there anyway to check my individual auto? i feel that if it worked, i would not be permanently injured!

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.on november 14, 2008, the contact noticed that the passenger frontal air bag indicator remained illuminated on the instrument panel.a report was filed with the manufacturer and they stated that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 05v395000 (air bags); therefore, they would not assist with the repairs.the contact will take the vehicle to the dealer.the failure mileage was 73,000 and current mileage was 79,000.

Bcm (body control module) defective on my 2003 hyundai tiburon.airbag warning light stays on so don't know if it will deploy in a crash.door locks don't work. Cruise control doesn't work. Left blinker stays on unless disconnected (police gave me a warning regarding this)many others reported similar problems online.all seem to be due to a defective body control module which costs $700 just for the part.there should be a recall on the bcm since so many others have similar issues!especially worry about airbag not deploying in an accident.

Low-speed collision with the front end, driver's side of my 2003 hyundai-tiburon resulted in only the passenger side air bag deploying.

The passenger side air bag deployed after the consumer bumped a divider in the road, at 30 mph withthe driver side of the vehicle.the consumer contacted the manufacturer, who sent written guidelines on air bag deployment, stating that the air bag should deploy on the passenger side if that was the side struck.*sc

Consumer'sdaughter was drivingat 30 mph when theair bags deployed.it scared the driver, and she made a quick right turn. The vehicle hit the curb, and broke the rim on the passenger's side.

Vehicle was involved in a head on collision and the air bags did not deploy.*mrthe passenger of in the vehicle was injured.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.the air bag light remains illuminated.the dealer stated that the failure was not covered under warranty, and the repair would be the contacts responsibility.she was informed that the failure was due to the front seat belt buckle assembly, and her vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number 03v321000 (air bags:frontal).the vin, purchase date, and engine size were unknown.the current mileage was 97,000 and failure mileage was 90,000. Passenger airbag deployed for no reason. *ph

On monday the 14th i accidentally rear ended a van while going about 60 mph...he was almost stopped for a sudden turn off the highway... My car is totaled... Though driving alone, my passenger airbag went off, but by drivers side didn't... My body is in lots of pain, and my insides hurt alot... I did lose conscience for a small time.... I've been to the hospital twice and my doctor once for pain... No broken bones, just lots of bruises... I've been told the pain and suffering would have been possibly less if airbag deployed as designed... Geico, my insurance company has the car in clayton nc, and wants me to sign over the title so they can pay me for my car.... Should i do this before having you or someone else investigate the reason for airbag failure? do i have a case? i've received many emails from others in similar situations with their hyundai's and much worse damages to their bodies.what do i do?

My car was parked, i get into the car as normally and when i started the car......... Boom the airbag deployed with no reason, i never hit anything, the car never moved,in less than a second there was an explosion, a big explosion, m car was filled with smoke.i was scared what if that could occur while i was driving, im 100% that this should be investigated and be a recall of this.my insurance wont cover and they probably will raise my coverage, i had bruises in my hand and forehead due to the impact.a repair shop will cost me more than 1,000 dollars which i don't have.and now im scared to drive my own car, and i need it to get to my job and i can't.

While proceeding to enter an interstate andwithout warningpassenger's side air bag deployed.driver drove the vehicle to the dealership for inspection.

Consumer complained about electrical problems which included the power windows, and the driver seat belt buckle wiring.consumer received a recall notice on this matter, however, dealer refused to accommodate the consumer.the air bad failed during a crash and the sun roof malfunctioned.

The air bag warning light stays illuminated while driving. When this occurs the driver's side window is inoperative. Although the dealership has serviced the vehicle several times for this issue, the problem recurred.

Dt: the contact stated while driving at approxiatmately 40 mph another vehicle pulled out in front of her this resulted in a frontal impact crash. The vehicle was totaled. The driver's side air bag did not deploy. Injuries where sustained. Seat belts where in use. Contact was unaware of a recall on the airbags for this type of vehicle before the accident. The recall # is 02v290000.

I was driving 35+ miles per hour and rear ended a large truck.the air bag on the passenger side deployed (no one in passenger side),mine (driver side) did not deploy.2003 hyundai tiburon, causing almost $9,000 damage.dealership towed to,elhart in holland mi.,had no concern.vehicle towed to denooyer chev. And the body shop manager, steve batts showed a great deal of concern.i contacted hyundai complaint dept.,andthat person was non chalant about the episode.i still do not know if i have a deployable air bag on drivers side.hyundai would not fix it! or pay to have one either put in or to even test to see if it was defective. .i am paying for a vehicle in which iam not confident regarding its safety factor.perhaps this could be a recall.i have gotten no where at this time, and am filing a formal complaint against hyundai and the dealership, elhart, who sold me this vehicle, sept 2002.if you cannot help, please direct me to an agency that will.elise knapp.

Air bag light came on intermittently.dealer serviced the vehicle on several occasions, but problem recurred.consumers was concerned that it was not safe to drive the vehicle.

Airbag light is on, i think this is due to seat belt buckle wiring issue, since light was going on and off for few days (and when i was moving seat belt buckle it was disappearing) i did research tiburon forums and i see that most people experiencing same issue had their seat belt buckle replaced and light reset and that was it. Problem with me is that i'm out of warranty.i have called hyundai affairs and reported this issue and they told me that hyundai dealter may and most probably charge me for inspection and fixing issue, since there was no recall on my car. I'm afraid that air bag will not deploy during accident and i think hyundai should pay for fixing it since this is not isolated issue. Many other hyundaihave same issue.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.while driving 35 mph, the air bag light remained illuminated.the dealer stated that the light illuminated due to the driver's side air bag.the dealer informed the contact that they would have to replace a switch.since the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign id number03v321000 (air bags:frontal), the contact would have to pay approximately $400 for the repair.the current mileage was 147,000 and failure mileage was 98,000.

Air bag light came on on the dash of my 2003 hyundai tiburon because of a broken wire under the drivers seat. Hyundai has had recalls on other vehicles for the same problem with the wire getting broken under the driver seat. They have fixed the problem under a recall to include putting a plastic cover over the wires to protect them. They told me that there is not a recall for that problem on my vin number vehicle, same problem. The dealer said it is a common problem with this vehicle. This could cause the air bag not to deploy in an accident. They said that there was debri under the seat that caused the break. The only thing under the seat was a small collapsed umbrella that was on the back seat floor. I believe that there has not been a recall for this vehicle because not enough people have complained. This is a safety problem with the way hyundai runs the wires under the seat.

While driving 70 mph passenger's side air bag inadvertently deployed. Driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle, and drove it to the dealer for inspection.

While driving approximately 30 mph, the side air bag deployed inadvertently.as a result the vehicle swerved to the right and hit a curb.the vehicle sustain damage to the passenger side front tire, rim and suspension.*nlm *la

I 'm financing a hyundai tiburon 2003 and the air bag in the front drivers side has been malfunctioning, the light is on and has been on. Also the windows wont roll down and the oxygen sensors have gone out as well. Is there any remedy that can be done for my car since i owe 9,000.00 dollars on it to fireside bank?

While driving approximately 30 mph, the driver's side, side impact air bag deployed for no reason, causing the car to swerve towards the right hitting the curb on the passenger side damaging the passenger side front tire and rim.as of today hyunday did not make any repairs or investigation of the deployment of the air bag.the car is parked at the dealer from september 21, 2003.*la

I own a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt and i have been having issues with my left turn signal.when making a left turn upon completion the blinker stops blinking, but the light stays on.sometimes by turning on the left turn signal 2 or 3 times it goes off...and sometimes it doesn't.sometimes it comes on all by itself just sitting in the driveway, with the car turned off.i have even unhooked the battery cable to keep from draining the battery.took car to the hyundai dealership to get a diagnosis done.they told me the bcm is shot and needs to be replaced for 703.56 plus 120.00 for labor.this seems to be a major problem for several other owners too.i have a questions to ask....if so many of us tiburon owners are having the same issues then why is there not a recall for us...oh yeah 703.56 part + 120.00 labor = no recall for us.hello nhtsa or hyundai can you say recall!!!!!!do people have to get injured or killed, or our vehicles totaled before something is done.we have already paid thousands of dollars for the vehicle; we shouldn't have to pay for defective equipment.i demand a recall for our safety.by the way, other than this bcm issue....i love my tibby.please look into having this bcm recalled.thank you

After the key remote quit working and was reset twice, the dealer said it was a bmc computer module that may be out and we were told this was a known problem with the 2003 tiburon. Soon after the lock incident, my windshield washer pump quit as well as one headlight.replaced the headlight and another headlight went out. Could only keep one headlight working at one time. Had the bmc replaced but still getting no electric to the windshield washer pump and the headlights didn't work.mechanic had to rewire the headlights which are working now. Mechanic ordered a new bmc thinking the one we got was defective. Mechanic also checked the washer pump to see if it was bad but it was not. It works but not getting any electric to it when hooked up to the tiburon. Mechanic tried a different bmc but still not solving the problem.was told that the bmc could have shorted out part of the electrical system.my 22 year old daughter is buying this car and i don't feel safe with her driving it. No one can seem to figure out what is wrong with the car. We have been trying for over a year to get this fixed.

The right hand turn signal on my 2003 hyundai tubiron turns on by its self and it can not be shut off. I had several close calls with cars that thought i was turning and pulled out in front of me. I reported this to hyundai corporate customer service department. Their solution was to remove the fuse and now i do not have any turn signals or hazard flashers. After doing some research there are alot of people having the same issue with this model. I believe this is a major safety issue.

About 4 minutes after driving off on a cold morning (40 f), i was merging onto a highway, when suddenly all of the electricity shut off on my car.i began to move over to the shoulder of the road and down shifted to slow down.i pressed the emergency flashers, but got nothing.i could not totally get out of the lane because a guard rail limited it to a small shoulder.i could see headlights in my rear view swerving at the last second to miss me because they couldn't see me.my only thought was grab a flashlight out of the glove box and try to escape the car and to try to warn oncoming vehicles.but then suddenly, all the lights and radio came back on.so i quickly started the engine and drove off.the total time that elapsed from loss of electricity to it coming back on was maybe a minute, but it felt like forever.i drove to work with no problems, and after work, i got it to the dealership with no problems either.the dealership claimed they could not duplicate the problem and gave the car back.now i'm scared to drive this car.

Consumer states his daughter had an head on impact with another auto and her air bags did not deploy. Driver was traveling approx 35 mph.driver was injuried, she hurt her head and neck.nlm

I was driving to my brother place when a wire started to smoke and cought on fire from under the steering wheel it was smokey where i could not see from the smoke and i hit a parked carfront windshield shattered and my airbag did not exposed at all. It was on a city street no one got hurt just the car

Bad body control module. Turn signals and flashers don't work. Vehicle was stationary. All fuses have been replaced and still no turn signals or flashers. It's a relay bad in the bcm.

- the clutch is slipping- the motor for the passenger door window has failed and the driver side is failing.- the driver side interior door handle does not work, and the locking mechanism is failing.

Consumer complained about electrical problems which included the power windows, and the driver seat belt buckle wiring.consumer received a recall notice on this matter, however, dealer refused to accommodate the consumer.the air bad failed during a crash and the sun roof malfunctioned.

Both passenger and driver side windows some times work. I have to pull on them to go up most of the time and they get stuck rolled all the way up some times.also the rear wiper blade motor does not work and the washer fluid motor dose not work.

When using the a/c fan control on setting 3 or 4 for more than 10 min., the plastic connection at the back of the unit starts melting. My temporary solution is to run the a/c on 1 and 2 only. This is a possible fire hazard. Hyundai refuses to acknowledge this as a problem. The replacement cost is 605.00 cad for the same unit that will do the same thing after a little use. This is not a valid solution to the problem.

Sunroof has been in approx. 8 times to two different dealers and has still not been fixed.

Currently my 2003 hyundai tiburon gt has my left turn signal lights on. The front and the back one stay on no matter what, even if i turn the car off and take the keys out. I have been researching this problem, and it looks like it is a well known problem with these cars, so my question is... Why isn't there a recall on it? especially since the part is so expensive!! i don't know if other people have had this problem but whenever my turn signal started to act up so did my sunroof. Now that my turn signal is constantly on, my sunroof won't work at all! are they related? i work for a car dealership and they can't even find me the part (which is a body control module) any cheaper! i guess now we all know why hyundai stopped making the tiburon, which is sad due to it being such a nice car, and i love my tiburon it was my reality dream car! when you do finally recall this item, if we already had it fixed, would you reimburse us for it? especially if we have the receipt for it?

The other day i took my 2003 hyundai tiburon in to be serviced. I noticed the vehicle had been unable to accelerate. The next day i contacted the dealership and they told me that my vehicle needed another clutch. This would be my third clutch in three years considering i hardly drive my vehicle hard. I was shocked and couldn't believe how much they told me it would be to replace the part. In addition, when i drove my car home it was much worse than when i dropped it off the previous day. I refused to pay for the repair because hyundai has been taking advantage of me and my wallet. In the past year i have spent over 5 thousand dollars on my vehicle. My car is kept in immaculate condition and i feel like the parts that hyundai peddles is of low quality. I still have my vehicle under warranty , but all the malfunctions are not covered by the warranty i have...coincidence? probably not.

First incident: blower motor for heat quit working. Found connector (climate control side) had meltedreplaced with used climate control. November 2010. Blower motor had quit working again found same connector as well as body harness side connector had melted. Replaced with used harness and climate control. November 2010 to december 2014 vehicle headlights would intermittently stay on when lights were shut off. January 26 2015 while driving dash lights, radio, tail lights, windows, turn signals. Intermittentlyturning off and on. Found climate control harness side melted again, also body control module and power wire to have melted. After searching these electrical components meltingappears to be a common problem with the vehicle. Although my personal vehicle has high mileageand is older the problem seems to stretch back to when the vehicles were new, earliest occasion i found was 2005.

2003 hyundai tiburon = blower switch speed control melted and also melted part of harness system related to blower control. I have read this complaint on other tiburon as well. An independent mechanic replaced the switch and rewired the melted part of the harness as it iso longer an available part. This has the very real potential to start a fire in the dash. Using the switch to high increases heat in the switch itself, but, using it on low increases heat in the harness and resistor. Problem is a cheap plastic housed switch.

While driving at night and after a right hand turn the right turn signal stayed illuminated both front and rear. After i parked the car at destination and turned off the ignition and removed the key the turn signal light stayed on.i changed the bulbs and the fuse which did not fix the problem.after looking up on the internet for known tiburon issues, i found several instances of the identical issue for the 2003 tiburon.the problem is a relay in the bcm and coincidentally the issue happens at around 65- 80000 miles.the cost of the bcm is approximately $400 without labor.

The contact was driving 35 mph and engaged the turn signal in order to make a turn. After the turn was completed, the turn signal would not disengage. The contact stated that the turn signals remained illuminated.the vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where it was diagnosed as the bcm module needing to be replaced. The contact no longer felt safe driving the vehicle due to not having turn signals or hazard lights. Thevin was not available. The failure mileage was 58,987 and the current mileage was 59,908.updated 04/11/12*ljthe consumer stated she was unable to turn off the signal lights, which caused the battery to to down. Both front and rear lights stayed on , even when the ignition was turned off.updated 04/23/12

Air conditioning blower motor control switch housing melted, causing climate control to be non functional. There have been approximately 4 replacements of switch due to same failure. Through online research this is a common problem.

Upon using the turn signal on my 2003 hyundai tiburon gt, the signal light would pause and seem to "stick" in the on position inside of the car. Little did i know thateven with the car off the turning signal and the signal lights remain on. Upon research i found that the signal relay is located internally within the bcm, requiring a new bcm altogether to fix the stuck signal. I suspect from reading into this vehicle that it is a manufacturing defect as this signal problem seems to be a trend and just a matter of time as to when it will happen.

Numerous electrical problems with this car from the beginning.within the first year of ownership, had to replace the window motor for the passenger side window.at less than 4 years of ownership, have replaced the battery twice, due to interior and dashboard lights that stay on and drain the battery.at about 60,000 miles, the left blinker came on continuously and stayed on, draining the car's battery.i had to disable the turn signals entirely, and now have to signal with my arm out the window.it will be over $1,000 to replace the body control module to fix the problem with the turn signal.the motor for the passenger side window is also broken again.if the motor for the driver side window goes, i will be unable to signal turns.

Hazard lights, signal lights, airbag lights, powers windows and clutch.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon. The contact stated that the right signal and flashers were malfunctioning. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer, who diagnosed that the body control module assembly was defective and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure and current mileages were 207,000.

I recently purchased a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 in april of 2008.the car looked like it was in great condition and did not have any mechanical problems.i was driving down the road one day when i put on my turn signal to change lanes.after i had changed lanes i noticed that my turn signal was permanantly on.upon encountering this problem i took my car to bob king hyundai in winston-salem.they told me that it was internal problems with the bcm and that it would cost $1100 just for the part, plus labor.upon finding out this totally absurd problem, i went onto the internet to find other ways to fix.my discoveries were amazing.it seems that every person that has a 2003-05 hyundai tiburon has had thesame problem when the cars have reached 100,000 miles or more.this problem leaves you with out turn signals and driving lights.it can also spread and effect other areas of the car, like not letting the windows roll down, cause the keyless entry to malfunctions, and cuts off you hud lights as well.i believe that this is a serious problem and needs to be handle by the hyundai motors co.

2003, tiburon, drivers side window won't roll down, passengers side really slow, digital radio can't read number or letters. Have changed head lights numerous time since purchasing the vehicle brand new in 2003. Problems with the sunroof operation (opening-closing) glaze on paint peeling on side view mirrors as well as spoiler. Any solutions for all these problems

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.while driving approximately 45 mph on normal road conditions, the contact smelled a strong burning odor inside the passenger compartment of the vehicle.in addition, the entire electrical system failed without warning.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing and they stated that the failure was related to the body control module (bcm).the technician stated that the wiring harness melted and caused circuit shortage, which resulted in a small electrical fire.the vehicle is currently inoperative and has not been repaired.the failure and current mileages were 114,000.

This just happened one day. My air bag warning light came onthe dash, and when i fastened in my seat belt it starts dinging like it's not fastened. It's annoying as i drive down the road. I've checked the air bag fuses and they are fine.

Air bag light came on on the dash of my 2003 hyundai tiburon because of a broken wire under the drivers seat. Hyundai has had recalls on other vehicles for the same problem with the wire getting broken under the driver seat. They have fixed the problem under a recall to include putting a plastic cover over the wires to protect them. They told me that there is not a recall for that problem on my vin number vehicle, same problem. The dealer said it is a common problem with this vehicle. This is a safety problem with the way hyundai runs the wires under the seat.

Consumer stated that while driving at 45 mph an accident occurred while trying to avoid a collision with a stalled vehicle in the highway. While avoiding the stalled vehicle consumer rolled into a ditch and rolled over several times.consumer's seatbelt came undone, and the air bag did not deploy. After the accident something under the hood started smoking, and within ten minutes the entire car was consumed by the fire.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon. The contact stated while going to turn the battery off under the hood due to the driver hazard light was illuminating, there was black smoke coming from the vehicle. The contact extinguished the fire. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the front driver wiring harness caused the fire and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired. The contact contacted winner hyundai (591 s dupont hwy, dover, de 19901) where they informed that there were no recalls. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 196,641.

Shifting gears has led to slipping, grinding, and locking. It's gradually getting worse. Now, even when driving on the freeway shifting can lock up. Sometimes i have to force the shift into gear. Reverse is the worst. Had the master and slave cylinders replaced and still having issues with clutch.

I was driving to my brother place when a wire started to smoke and cought on fire from under the steering wheel it was smokey where i could not see from the smoke and i hit a parked carfront windshield shattered and my airbag did not exposed at all. It was on a city street no one got hurt just the car

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon. The contact stated that while driving approximately 20 mph, he depressed the accelerator pedal and noticed something being spewed from under the pedal. Also, the oil warning light illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact inspected the vehicle and discovered that the oil pan bolt had become detached from the vehicle, causing the failure. The contact replaced the oil pan bolt but stated that the metal in the area where the bolt was located had become stripped and the bolt was loose.the vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 90,450.

The all-new 2003 hyundai tiburon boasted to deliver a perfect combination of stylish design, high quality and outstanding performance.in reality, the new vehicle, which i leased was plagued with numerous handicaps. The knob on stick shift keeps falling off-appears to be broken.re-attached knob and centered face plate only to have knob fall off again still broken.july 18 2002 a/c fumes coming thru vents this is caused by grease on wheel from band clamp loose off cv boot.july 18 2002 steering wheel shakes at high speed- car sways at rear.steering wheel off center, they adjusted, still shakes.july 18 2002 park and emergency brake defective.park brake loose and brake light flashes. Emergency brake loose/does not hold, they fixed both, they are broken again jan 9th.dec 18 2002 sunroof will not open requires a new motor and module, which was installed. When i picked up the car i tested it and it still would not open. They said make another appointment in the new year.dec 18 2002 driver side window defective-goes up very slow yes, power window is dragging. We will order a new one. Jan 10/03 still no part.bob (service manager) will call me when parts are in.jan 17th, i called, yes parts are in, as per bob the letter is in the mail.as of feb 25/03 i have yet to receive that letter. May 15 2002 i bought (from hyundai showroom) blue neon lights for windshield wipers $22.59 had their service dept install them $30. The first time i washed my car they fell off.yes, they were defective.june 11 hyundai re-installed my old ones and in doing so dented the car roof. Aug 28 2002 with the pending possibility of lay-off i went into the dealership to see what my options were.the manager directed me to call financial lynx leasing co. Financial lynx directed me to call dealership. The manager told me i could buy out my lease for $6000 at that time. Thank god i didn?t get laid-off. I am not looking to get out of my lease. The contact called the dealership and stated that the stallingresulted due to a failure in the clutch, but the repair was not covered under warranty. The contacthad the vehicle towed to a mechanic shop, and the vehicle had a complete clutch assembly repair.the contact stated that in 11/06 the vehicle started having a loud noise from the engine area, and the vehicle was difficult to shift.the contacttook the vehicle to the dealership and was told that they couldn't reproduce the failure, and that the difficulty in shifting was because she didn't know how to drive the manual transmission.the contact stated that during the week of 1/15/07 the vehicle wouldn't drive forward or reverse.she took vehicle to a mechanic, and he told her it was the dual mass flywheel thatmalfunctioned.the contactfiled a complaint with the manufacturer with file # 1031455. I bought this car in july 2002. It now only has alittle over 8,000 miles. Since i have had this auto i have had to have the doors realigned because they would not close. The radio would just go out. They replaced the radio but 3 months later it happened again except this time the a/c would not put out cold air properly.come to find out if i cut the a/c off, the radio would come back on. The last few trips to the dealership i had to leave my car for the day. They checked out everything and could not find anything to cause it to be doing what it does.they did change the battery because the car was dying on me at any given time. I've had 3 different recalls sent to me.

Hyundai made an error in the information published about the engine horsepower. Ph

Less than one month after work was done to my shift bezel, my clutch failed. Was 3 months over warranty. Tried to go to mediation two times, never recieved a return call. Sent a certified letter, and finally after 8 months, i am being offered a 50% refund on the $1911.00 i was charged to fix. I have researched online, and this has happened to hundreds of people, some multiple times. Found documentation stating hyundai is aware of the probelm.

The vehicle caught on fire under the hood.

2003 hyundai tiburon, fails to start and when started engine stalls, towed to dealer 4 times and driven to dealer 7 times for other problems.this company and their dealer continue to blame consumer for their very inferior product.

I drove the vehicle to a football game, upon returning to the vehicle after the game the low beams were not coming on.i drove home with my high beams on.the next day i took the vehicle to my mechanic.he immediately removed my bcm (body control module).he showed me the unit and it had melted approximately 1/8 of the panel.he told me had he have left it in the car a fire would more than likely have started.

We just bought our son his first car. We found the 2003 tiburon locally, so we checked it out. Everything worked as expected and drove very nice. After about 3 months, the turn signals and hazard lights stopped working!!no fuse to change, but were told it was a failedbcm module.as i was looking into it further, i found the repair cost to be close to $1,000!!i am outraged that there is no recall on this as it is a safety issue, and a true hazard to the driver, passengers, pedestrians, and all others who share our roadways.

One week after purchasing a used 2003 hyundai tiburon i was preparing to make a right turn and pulled the turn signal on.after exiting the turn, turn signal stayed on . Flasher relay attached to bcm fused not allowing the bulbs to turn off even after turning the vehicle off. Only temporary fix for problem is to remove fuse from circuit, in-turn disabling both turn signals and hazard lights. Permanent fix is to replace bcm, fuse panel, and main power junction on vehicle, this costs near $1000 to repair and for those that can't afford that amount are left driving without turn signals or hazard lights creating a safety hazard for themselves and others on the road around them due to the fact that they cannot inform other drivers of lane changes or turns. This may result in accidents, tickets, or failed safety inspections. I contacted hyundai and the representative i talked to knew of the problem. After researching this on the internet it appears to be a common problem, there have been many post about this issue and none have had solid solutions without disassembling the computer and replacing the relay that is sodered to the main computer board.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon. The contact stated that the plastic cover on the headlights was hazed over which prevents them from shining bright. The turn signals have also failed. The dealer was called and stated the warranty has expired; therefore, the contact will be responsible for the estimated repair cost of $1,000 toreplace the headlight assembly and the computer for the turn signals. There were no related recalls. The failure mileage was 156,000.

Repetitive problem with high beam headlights activating when the signal lights are utilized. Appears to be a short in the switch.

Ever since i have purchased the car, the left turn signal has stayed on, even when the car is off, and the key is removed. It never turns off. I've done research, and it is a faulty "body control module", and everywhere i turn, people are having this problem. The part is anywhere above $600.00 to replace, and shouldn't just go faulty on thousands of cars, it is an extreme safety risk.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.

2003 hyundai tiburon gt smells of gasoline when starting, at idle stand still, and when turning car off for short period of time. Smell of gas very strong inside car.

2003 hyundai tiburon high pressure gas lines in engine were spraying fuel all over. This could have been a fatal defect, which we think needs a recall. This repair cost us400 dollars with rental car. The car has 75000 miles on it.

The car will not accept gasoline. Once 0.3 gallons enters the car the pump will shut off and you have to keep trying to get gas. There is an issue with the gas intake. It will continually shut off every few .3 gallons and makes it very complicated to get gas.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.after fueling the fuel tank, the vehicle exhibits a no-start condition. He has to apply pressure onto the accelerator pedal to start the vehicle.however he smelled gasoline inside and outside of the vehicle.the vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnostic testing . The failure was related to the fuel system. His vehicle was previously repaired according to recall campaign id numbers04v178000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage:tank assembly) and 04v369000 (fuel system, gasoline:storage).the recall remedy was insufficient and did not address the recall defect. The vehicle was in the process of being repaired for the malfunction.the failure mileage was82,000. The current mileage was 87,000.

Sometimes when the gas level gets down to approximately 1/4 tank, the gas cap pops off and the check engine light comes on.

When pumping gas the pump constantly clicks off and won't allow me to putthe gas in. Very strong raw wet gas smell inside and out side of the car . Followed the instructions on cleaning charcoal canister there was no problems there and the gas problems continue. The smell is noticed after driving and during idle.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon. The contact stated that while attempting to refuel, the pump would click off early as if the fuel tank was full. In addition, the contact mentioned that both door handles fractured. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 130,000.

I have a 2003 tiburon.the emergency brake cable has rusted away and no longer engages the brake.seems to be a common problem.

In october 2009 i purchased a 2003 hyundai tiburon for my son. The car was placed in the garage until my son turned 16 on march 8, 2010. We only have put less than 100 miles on the car from the date of purchase to find out that the rear brakes were not working also causing the emergency brake not to lock in. The vehicle was purchased at crest honda in nashville, tn. They also proceeded to sell me an extended warranty which was suppose to cover for brakes, however when i took it to a hyundai service center they contacted the extended warranty company and they would not cover for the brakes to be repaired as they were after market brakes on the car. It is clearly obvious that this car was not inspected by crest honda prior to my purchase. I have read similar complaints on the internet about crest honda and customers having faulty brakes on used cars that they purchase from them. We are fortunate that we noticed the problem with the emergency brake as the mechanic told me that the rear brakes were not catching and only the front brakes were operational on the car.

I have a 2003 tiburon gt with a 6 speed transmission. I've had to replace the clutch twice in under 30k miles. I've checked with other tiburon owners and they said it's a defect in the clutch assembly. Hyundai won't admit a problem even though a lot of people are having this issue apparently.

2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 6-speed manual transmission.the clutch failed after only 30000 miles.i have driven cars with manual transmissions for 20 years.this one was no abused or used for racing.i have never had a clutch go out after so few miles.the problem seem to be caused by a defect in the design of the clutch system.there is a restrictor valve that does not allow the clutch to fully engage until 1 second after the clutch pedal is fully released.this appears to be a wide scale problem.there are posts all over the internet about this defect.

I am the original owner of a 2003 hyundai tiburon.i have had problems with my automaticd trunk release not work as well as my driver side power window not working.my car is not under warranty because it is 12 years old, however it only has 64,000.i have talked with other tiburon owners who have and are experiencing the same problem.i see no recalls on my vehicle for this issue.my concern is we have been to several salvage places to look for a motor and the tiburons which were on property all had the window motors sold already.this made me wonder if there have been other reports of this same issue i am having.my car will not pass inspection because of the power window issue.are you aware of any issues.

The entire clutch system in my 2003 hyundai tiburon gt failed without any warning while shifting up a hill. My understanding is it was due to a faulty flywheel and clutch system which hyundai has apparently known about since the model release. Even though there had been a class action lawsuit against them for this exact matter, hyundai does not seem to think they are responsible for repairing it. This component should absolutely be recalled and hyundai held responsible for failing their customers and then charging upwards of $3000 to repair a problem that they know exists. Because the clutch system is solely responsible for the propulsion of the vehicle, having faulty ones on the road is an extreme hazard. Mine failed while shifting up a hill on a normally busy road. It was very fortunate there was light traffic that day and i had a parking lot close by to coast into. The way hyundai is handling this issue is nothing short of theft, and a blatant disregard for public safety.

Clutch and flywheel in my 03 tiburon, v6 burned out after less than 30,000 miles and they won't cover it under warranty. Checked around and it's a manufacturing defect.

After stopping behind a line of stopped cars, i slowly removed my foot from brake pedal (have automatic transmission) and looked into my review mirror as car in front of me began moving.suddenly i heard my engine race and immediately slammed into vehicle in front of me before i could react. My car looks like i hit something going at least 35 mph.the vehicle in front of me was only 6 - 8 feet in front of me when i hadstarted to remove my foot off my brake pedal.all happened so quickly - was as if my car just "leaped" forward.state police and tow operator both started up my vehicle and noted that engine racing while throttle pedal was in normal position.i did not receive a driving violation ticket because of noted throttle issue.toyota unintended acceleration issue now with tiburons?

I bought a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt 3 weeks ago from a dealership, medlin motors inc., in rocky mount, nc. I started smelling a burning smell the day i bought the car and asked the dealer what it was and they told me it was probably brake rust or residue coming off from where it was sitting up for a while. So i then dismissed the problem until about 3 weeks later i smelt that smell again and soon after the clutch started slipping. I immediately called the dealership and asked them to fix it. They then picked up the vehicle and took it to their shop. I was under the impression that the warranty would cover it until the next day when we received a phone call stating that the repair bill would be $1700.00. With this information i told them i couldn't afford to repair it since i had just put a $1400.00 down payment on the vehicle 3 weeks prior. They still refuse to fix this problem without a payment of $1700.00. In its simplest form, i paid $1400.00 to drive a car for a month and now i am obligated to a $13000.00 loan for a car i can't drive which is still 30 minutes away at the shop.

I have a lot of trouble putting the car in gear (6-speed manual) i.e. 1st and reverse.i really have to pull or push the stick very hard.i have read a lot of similar complaints about this car ( 03 hyundai tiburon ) and feel something needs to be done please help us.

Clutch went out at 5,000 miles and 3 months old.dealer will not honor warranty. Says driving clutch wrong? cost $2,000.

No events lead up to the failures.all failures have happened in rush hour traffic and has left owner stranded on the interstate.dealer refused to cover 3 of the repairs which, cost us 2,000 each failure.nothing has been done to correct the failure.the old parts are available if needed.this vehicle has been a recurring nightmare and is a money pit.

10,700 miles clutch is slipping. Tsb #04-40-005 defective clutch installed in tiburons produced before 4/1/03. New parts for clutch/flywheel in stock at dealership. The threshold of the clutch is right at the edge of what the performance of the engine can handle. There is a clutch delay valve installed to the master cylinder, this slow engage may cause premature wear on the clutch.customer fraud, hyundai has not released this info to owners and in most cases refuses to pay for it. I bring my tib in this monday to the dealership and they said expect to leave the car for a week because corp office will fight it. My car is 2 1/2 years old with 10,750 miles.

Tiburon 2003 vt v6 has 18000 miles on it and clutch fails on highway. Will not shift out of first gear. Took it to the dealership where they kept it for three days and needed a authorization to take apart the transmission. Service people found that the disc was completely hot and worn down, which damaged bearings. Not covered under 100000 warranty because disk was worn down. Clutch is faulty and they replace faulty clutches over and over again. They want 1400 dollars for it, with a 50 % off from the corporation. We need all clutches recalled and people's money back now!!!! they don't want to be responsible for consumer fraud!!!!check www.mycarstats.comhttp://www.tuscani.be/forum/index.cfm/act/show_messages/thread_id/328..

My clutch went out at only 37,000 miles and it was never abused or anything like this it went out with just me driving on the road normally under no harsh conditions and i couldn't control my car and speed up to stop at a safe stop so i barely made it into a nearby neighborhood where it was towed.

Hyundai 2003 tiburon clutch assembly failed with only 17,000 miles on the vehicle. The dealership and hyundai has told many people that the defect is driver induced even though their tsb #04-04-005 indicates problem with that clutch and to replace it with an improved model.

Clutch and flywheel failed on vehicle at 30,250 miles.dealer claims repair costs ($2280) excluded from warranty as "wear item."warranty vaguely worded, yet additional documentation on ntsb website suggests this problem is widespread. Automobile currently at dealer.vin # available upon request.

-the contact stated that the2003 hyundai tibron gt,had sev stalling problems and clutch failure.the contact stated that at 19,000 miles the vehicle stalled while driving 30 mph.the pedal went to the floor and all power on dash board was lost. The contacttook the old flywheel to the dealership, and the mechanic told the contact it was from owner'serror.

My 2003 hyundai tiburon v6 6-speed manual transmission car has had 2 clutch failures.the first occurred at 29000 miles and cost me nearly $800 to repair.after clutch replacement with an identical clutch kit, it failed again on me 5/29/2006 just 3000 miles later.this repair will cost me much more, most likely around $1500.i understand that their is faulty clutch that comes with the tiburon gt as numerous problems have been reported in relation to early clutch failure.it is unacceptable for the clutch to fail twice within 33000 miles.

I purchased a 2003 hyundai tiburon gtv6 - 6 speed in april of 2003.20,000 miles later, thought normal wear and tear, my clutch went out.the dealer replaced my clutch and flywheel using a technical service bulletin.now, at 48,000 miles (28,000 miles later), my clutch has failed again.i am in no way a hard driver, and am a very experienced manual transmission driver.this failure is costing me $2000 to repair, and has put me and my family in a financial strain.clutches should not go out this quickly, and there are many others who have had the same problems with no manufacturer resolution.i hope that this message reaches far; hyundai should address this problem immediately.i'm afraid that next time my clutch will fail on the highway and the circumstances may be a lot worse.

With 30000 km on my 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v-6 my clutch is slipping and worn.there is a well documented problem with the clutches on these cars, and the dealers unwillingness to warranty the repair.

Dt*: the contact stated while driving 15 mph shifting from first to second gear the clutch failed.the vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection.they replaced the clutch however the problem still exists.the manufacturer was alerted.updated 3/17/2006 - when the first repair was made the incorrect clutch was installed in the consumer's vehicle because the online tsb was not updated to reflect the new part number.

2003 hyundai tiburon clutch went out at 55,000 miles.

2003 tiburon - gtv6 - 6 spd. Man.l - purchased may 2003, new.during summer'05 with about 20,000 miles, transmission started acting weird, getting harder to shift into lower gears, from up or down. Would at times actuallyhang in 2nd, (power to the wheels) even with the clutch fully depressed! (surprising, and dangerous, when attempting to stop in traffic !)had to really bump the stick hard to get it out of gear. Took to hyundai dealer that sold car, whose head mechanic drove car - said there was no problem and tried to tell me i didn't know how to drive a stick.this was irritating since i have driven manuals my entire life going back to the early 70's. This dealers service manager advised i take car to their sister-dealer, which i did, on 09-05, with 24,379 miles on the car.after driving it, they agreed there was a problem, but needed to disassemble it to find out what.while there, another customer told me she was on her 3rd new clutch in her '03 gtv6 - the last one at her expense.later at my office, i did a web search to find the tib clutch problem was alarmingly common. The service mgr called later to say the clutch/flywheel was burned up, because of the way i'd driven it, and that i'd have to pay $2,000+ to fix it. I said bullc--p, and after stating my knowledge of the ongoing tib clutch problems, he relented and said they'd do it under warranty - but only once.next one would be on me if it happened again. Dt*:the contact stated while shifting from fourth to fifth gear at 55 mph, the clutch made a grinding noise and malfunctioned.the vehicle was taken to the dealership for inspection.upon inspection, the dealership replaced the transmission and the clutch.although the problem reoccurred, no additional repairs were made.the manufacturer was alerted.

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon and my clutch and flywheel both failed at what i think is a little to early. It is driven with care and extremely well maintained. I had a new clutch put in by a professional transmission shop and did not replace the flywheel, just the clutch and hydraulics. Within one business week, my new clutch has failed for a second time and the dealership wants $800 just for the flywheel so i can then take back to the shop and have them install it with my new clutch!

Clutch failure @ around 22,000 miles.

There were no events leading up to failure.driving to work and everything was normal then stopped at a stop light and the car did not want to accelerate and go through the intersection at a normal speed. Dealership explained that the clutch went out and possibly the fly wheel.(fly wheels are covered under warranty. The dealership is saying it is not and that there is a "hydrolic clutch" in the car and is normal to go out with out any prior notification.) my car is still sitting at the dealership and is not being fixed due to a discrepency regarding warranty and due to what i feel is a safety issue with a part in the car giving out with out notification.(was also given an examply by someone at corporate that when your breaks fail they do not give warning which i know is not true because you will hear a screaming sound.) i also only have around 30,600 miles on the car and the clutch and fly wheel should not have gone out that soon.

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 and had a clutch problem twice and the warranty did not cover it.i researched online and found out that many other drivers had the same problems.everytime we went to the dealer they said it was our fault, and made us pay over $1500 for repairs.

Began having trouble shifting from any gear to any other gear without "double clutching."took vehicle to dealership where it was determined that the clutch was bad.following the advice of the dealership i ordered an aftermarket clutch and an aftermarket flywheel.the dealer recommended doing this because of durability issues with the stock setup.once the dealer began the replacement of the clutch and flywheel itself they then determined that the entire transmission (6 speed) needed to be replaced.according to the dealership, the hyundai regional rep.wanted to go against a technical service bulletin and simply fix the problem with the trans itself.the dealer actually had to fight with the rep to follow hyundai's own tsb.the dealership itself was great and defiantly honest about the clutch problems on the 03 tib v6 6sp, but i still feel that hyundai needs to own up to the issue and reimburse people for aftermarket clutches because the stock system is not built to handle the kind of stresses that the engine exerts on it.i have only owned manuel trans cars and drive mainly highway miles.i have never had to replace a clutch before 130,000 miles... My tiburon's required clutch, flywheel and trans replacement at about 40,000 miles... Even though the trans itself was covered by warranty, it still cost over $1000 for parts and labor to the clutch itself (far cheaper than the $2000 or so it costs to buy the stock setup).having a clutch and trans go at 40,000 miles is unacceptable, knowing that this is not unusual for the tibby only makes the issue more unacceptable.

I am having severe issues with the manual clutch on my 2003 hyundai tiburon.my vehicle has only 23,000 miles and is experiencing severe clutch slippage.i had the clutch examined at 12,000 miles and was told that everything was fine.now hyundai is telling me that they believe that the clutch plate is "glazed" and will likely need to be replaced.hyundai stated that this is due to "normal wear and tear" and is not covered by the warranty.it is my understanding that almost all of the 2003 hyundai tiburon's have this same issues and many have had to be repaired several times and still experience clutch failure.

While applying the clutch pedal it failed.the driver was able to maintain control of the vehicle and drove it to the dealer for inspection.the mechanic informed the driver that the clutch was too small and needed to be replaced.please provide any additional information.

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt (6 speed manual transmission) that has experienced a premature clutch failure.the car has only 45,000 miles on it, and i drive it quite conservatively.the failure is not from "normal wear and tear".there are design defects that directly lead to this (and many other) premature failures.i have been quoted $2100 in repairs (clutch, pressure plate, throw-out bearing, and flywheel + labor) by the dealer.i am looking into alternative solutions--including trading my car in--as i am not confident the defects will be corrected.

Clutch assembly wore out prematurely at 21,000 miles. Dealer notified, and had no answer for this issue.

Clutch slipped on occasion - began to emit odor when driving in slow traffic (rush hour) conditions... Slippage gradually got worse to the point the car became unreliable. Went to dealership - tech determined clutch & flywheel needed to be replaced - gave me a 1700 estimate and said warranty wouldn't touch it (result of operator error). I went ahead and ordered an oem clutch from the dealer& an aftermarket flywheel (and rented a car for 2 weeks while i waited for my parts to arrive) and had my own mechanic install my parts. Total cost out of my pocket was 1400.turns out the clutch the dealer gave me was not the 'new' part (tsb 04-40-005) and now my clutch is rattling and has now began to show signs of failure.

Premature clutch failure on 2003 hyundai tiburon.car has approximately 40,000 miles on it.car stalled on interstate highway and had to be towed.clutch is being replaced, but hyundai will not pay to fix the problem even after they have received numerous complaints about clutch failures in the same automobile model.

In december 2004 while driving my 2003 hyundai tiburon gt, the clutch went out and i was unable to shift properly in traffic, this incident almost cause a multi-car collection.i had to coast to the side of the road and turn off engine, shift into 1st gear then start the car.i called the hyundai dealership for help and they told me that the clutch warranty ran out at 12000 miles, i couldnt afford to pay their high costs so i bought a new clutch and had it fixed by a mechanic i could afford. It runs the same due to the flywheel and the warranty covers up to 50,000 miles --now the dealership is refusing to fix it because anothermechanicworked on it. They knew this at the time i called the first time-----i just read the tsb #0440005 the procedure was not follled by them --it says clearly that the clutch and flywheel are deformed and need to be replace if the customer calls in about a clutch problem like i did --they never did--if they did i would never had got it fixed by another mechanic and bought the same factory clutch again that was deformed they never told me.help please .

Hyundai tiburon with 6 speed and six cylinder engine experienced clutch and flywheel failure when going over bridge. Loss of momentum could have caused accident. Vehicle has only 21000 miles on it and i am a safe driver with 37 years experience. No other vehicle that i drove had a clutch failure before 100,000 miles. *la

2003 hyundia tiburon 4 cyl clutch problems.the car shakes in 1st gear when you let up on the clutch.also the clutch is very high, waiting for it to brake.i only have 13, 000 miles and i am going back to the dealer a second time.they keep telling me there is nothing wrong.i have taken it to a garage and they tell me that i need a new clutch.i see hundreds of complaints on the internet about this same problem on the 4 and 6 cylinder engines..please help us!!

My soncraig bowman owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon that has 21,063 miles on it. He bought it when it had 10,000 miles. The clutch went out on it, and the dealer says it is not covered under the warranty.when this clutch goes out you have a hard time getting the vehicle into and out of gear. Normally, when a clutch plate goes out you lose power due to slippage, but you can always disengage the transmission by depressing the clutch plate and relieving the tension of the pressure plate. This system seems to make it hard to disengage the system. I have been doing research, and have found thata great many of these cars experience the same problem with the same amount of miles. Also,i have found thattechnical service bulletin tsb# 04-40-005 was issued that describes a clutch revision for 2003 tiburons with v6 engine and standard transmission built before april 1, 2003. To me this is an indication that there is a definite problem with this vehicle, and hyundai is doing nothing about it. Please could you help address this issue.

I own a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 ,6 speed manual 29000 miles original tires. The problem started when i had difficulty putting my car into reverse.this normally happened when the engine was cold.once the vehicle was placed into gear, a low wining sound would be noticed with my foot on the clutch, this would eventually go away as the car would warm up.after the car warmed up, the gears would shift normally and i could shift into any gear.after about a month the problem progressed to having difficulty putting the car into first gear and reverse.after another month the car would not go into first or reverse with the engine on.again as soon as the car warms up the gears shift normally and the noise will go away, this only occurs with a cold car.i finally took the car into the ford dealer (hyundai service center) and they told me that the clutch would have to be replaced and that this was due to my diving practices.they also claimed that the clutch was not covered under warranty and that it would cost me $1800 to repair.i argued that i have been driving manual transmissions for over 25 years and that i only use this car to go to work and back.they insisted that it was a wear-out item and that i was at fault.finally after some argument, they contacted the hyundai regional manager in georgiaand he agreed to pay for the replacement of the fly wheel, but that i would still have to pay for the clutch and labor to replace that.i took the vehicle to an independent mechanic and he confirmed that indeed the clutch had some wear, but he also pulled up a service bulletin (04-40-005) that claimed that the flywheel was deformed and that ifthe vehicle was produced before april 2003, (which mine was as i purchased it in february of 2003); verify the condition reported by the customer as clutch related; replace the dual mass flywheel, clutch disk, clutch cover and clutch release bearing.

Vehicle had a faulty clutch/flywheel assembly. Dealer will not cover expenses for repairs. Owner said that the clutch installed was faulty.

I initially had trouble getting my v6, 6 speed, 2003 hyundai tiburon, to shift into reverse and 1st gear after it sat over night. This problem progressed within 3 days to wherei could not shift into any gear without great difficultly.this occurred while driving in heavy traffic but i was able to get it back to the dealership.they have advised me that the clutch and flywheel are bad and must be replaced.i have approximately 57,500 miles on the car.this is mostly highway driving miles. I am being charged approximately $1800 for this repair by the dealership.when i called the hyundai customer service number they advised me that they were unaware of any problems with the clutches on the tiburon.the service department told me that this defect was due to my driving. After reading the reports on this site, that is obviously not true.

Problem with clutch.i brought in my hyundai 2003 tiburon 5 speed standard for service because clutch started to have problems after 890 miles ( hot smell ) , then again around 8000 miles for shudder problems , also stoped in to dealer several times to talk to them and have them road test ( said could not reproduce problem ) again around 22000 miles for major shudder problems and hard to shift ( had to replace pressure plate / clutch / flywheel / throw out bearing / clutch master cylinder ).

The clutch and flyweel are defective. Have had to be replaced twice and the third one is going bad again. 1st failure was on 5/12/2003 at 6152 miles. 2nd failure was on 6/30/2003 at 10291 miles. This problem is happening to many owners of the 2003 tiburon gt, v6, 6speed versions.

Clutch failure at 60000 miles 2500$ to repair. Warranty will not cover.

1.events leading up:the car was driven2.clutch failure.@ 70k miles, the clutch fails.3.need to replace the clutch assembly.

I own a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v-6 (2.7 liter) 5 speed manual transmission automobile with 48,900 miles on odometer.while i was driving it the clutch went out and i lost power and went off the road.

Dt*:the contact stated while traveling at various speeds, the transmission was hard to shift and progressively worsened.later while attempting to start the vehicle, the engine would not respond and would not start when jumped.the vehicle was towed to the dealership where it was determined the clutch failed, and the clutch fly wheel needed to be replaced.

Dt: there was a defect in the vehicle, they used deformed clutch part. The clutch was slipping.vehicleis at the dealership now. Whenshifting gears and pushing the gaspedal it takes it a few minutes to kick into gear and it jerks the vehicle. There is a technical service bulletin0440005. Noticed this problem on september 11, 2005, and should be getting a call from the dealer today. It has done this everyday since noticingnoticed the problem.

Hazard lights, signal lights, airbag lights, powers windows and clutch.

The clutch on my 2003 hyundai tiburon has been prematurely slipping at only 65k miles.according to members on www.newtiburon.com, this is apparently a common problem and one that should be addressed by hyundai.

My clutch went out on my 2003 hyundai tiburon without warning. My car has 35000 miles on it. Something has broken off and taken out the transmission.i've been reading many identical case scenarios from other hyundai tib owners. Hyundai will not cover under warranty. They blame it on clutch missuse and/or driving habits.

At about 3 months or 7,000 the clutch went out on the car requiring a new clutch.we continued to have problems & replaced the clutch again at the beginning of 2005.now the clutch goes completely to the floor and the car still moves.i will take it back to the dealer again for diagnostic.but i do believe there is a problem with the clutch or transmission.

I own a 2003 tiburon with the 2.7l. I purchased the car in 2003. Around 14 thousand miles or so my clutch began slipping and then eventually failed. The car had a failure of the clutch disk, pressure plate, and flywheel, and the dealer informed the driver the failure was their fault and it would not be covered. A one time good will repair was made and instead of the exorbitant $2000 asked instead we only paid $500. The car was purchased for about $20,000. Hyundai asks for $2,000, 10% of the cost of the vehicle to repair it. 40,000 miles have now reached the odometer, and the clutch has now failed again. The clutch that is currently in my vehicle is one replaced in 2003 still. Hyundai revised the clutch components due to malformed clutch plates in 2004, yet refuses to acknowledge or compensate the owners. Two of the three parts of the vehicle that have failed are covered by hyundai's "america's best warranty", the flywheel and pressure plate. Because the deformed compound on the clutch disk is being blamed on the vehicle operator, hyundaihas therefore absolved itself of any responsibility, claiming if it weren't for the operator induced failure of the clutch disk, the pressure plate and flywheel would still be ok. If the parts were replaced under warranty by a dealership then the regional parts director inspects it and deems it shouldn't have, the dealer must pay. This is why so many customers have to wrongly pay. If you dispute the claims of the technicians at hyundai they will take your car apart and inspect, and if it is deemed its the customers fault, the company will not even reassemble the car for you. You must pay them do it! the transmission case had major scraping and abrasion due to the pressure plate movement.the second set of clutch components were removed personally, and therefore are submittable for inspection and review. Photographs documenting the wear and abrasion inside the transmission case are available.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.the contact stated that the clutch failed twice.the dealer previously replaced the clutch at the cost of $900.she researched the nhtsa website and discovered 180 complaints for this same failure.the current mileage was 47,500 and failure mileage was 20,000.

Dealer has been great. Corp rep=bad. Purchased brand new on dec 31 02, and driven 3400 miles before clutch related problems were first introduced. I was told it would be replaced under warranty and made an appointment a month later. That was the earliest i could bring it in and be left without a car for 3 days. Car had approximately 11,400 miles on the odometer. I brought the car in with the dealer then warranted the clutch disc, flywheel, pressure plate and throw out bearing, but replaced them with the same parts as before, which was really a temporary fix to the general problem being design failure, being there are numerous part number changes from 02-04. That night i contacted the dealer again, and reported that the issue was still not fixed, and there was still not a smooth engagement and that the clutch was still juddering. The service said drive the car for 2 weeks and make sure it wasn't me not being used to the new clutch put in the car. I drove it for 2 weeks, and called back only to be denied warranty from the corporate representative at the time(she is no longer there)(not by the dealer) i have now had judder and mild random slippage and have dealt with this for the past 70,000 miles. I did under dealers advice take out a valve located in the slave cylinder to allow more hydraulic fluid through at one time in order to allow for better engagement and less wear to the clutch. The valve is not in the clutch slave cylinder in the 04 and new cars.

Hi. I own a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt 2.7 6 speed.the clutch went out at 18, 000 miles. I took it to the dealer with a copy of the class action lawsuit regarding the tiburon clutch issue.they told me that it was my driving, and that they never heard of this problem.they said that it would be up to me to pay for this, which will be about $1600-2000 out of my pocket. I refused to pay for this.

Clutch is going bad at 28k.first one went out at 500 miles.this will be the third clutch on the vehicle before at 28k.dealership says my driving habits.i know how to drive manual.this will be my 3rd clutch before 30k, this is ridiclous.the clutch assembly is defective.there are hundreds of people with the same problem, this is not an isolated incident.

Clutch problem, car gets stuck in gear. The only way to get the car in reverse is to put it in reverse before starting it up. *la

The clutch assembly started to slip, which almost caused a collision.

Clutch failure in a hyundia, tiburon with only 15,000 miles of use.

My 2003 hyundai tibruon gt has a clutch that is slipping and there is only about 80,000 miles on my car.i have a daughter and if this clutch goes while we are in the car it could cause injuries to us both.

2003 hyundai tiburon clutch completely burned out.***no answer required***. *mrthe consumer read articles which indicated that the clutch plate used in these vehicles should be used on 4 cylinders not 6 cylinder vehicle.

Dealer states that the clutch and flywheel on our 2003 hyundai tiburon has worn out and is need of replacement. The vehicle was sold with a 100,000 mile 10/yr. Powertrain warranty and 5/yr 50,000 mile bumper to bumper warranty.dealer states that the fine print in the warranty specifies that the clutch is a maintenance part not covered by the above warranties past 12,000 miles.estimated repair is $1,500.dealer and hyundai customer service informed us that "rough driving"was the principle cause of this problem. The vehicle has 38,000 miles and all drives have driven manual transmissions in excess of 100,000 miles on previous vehicles. Internet research has disclosed many other owners with exact similar treatment and problem.

2003 new hyundai tibburon clutch failed at 29000, the dealer told that cause of raugh driving, the clutch is not included in warranty, estimated $2000, the car 's been at dealer's for almost 20 days till now, they are still changing clutch now..we 've been renting car for almost 20 days too..after i read online, i know that was just bully us, i've been driven manual car for 20 years, i know i am not raugh type, why cannot they just admit the clutch itself is problem? ? i am going to contact state attorney about this, anyone out there knows more details or have same problemplease send me email at : [email protected], let 's do something together..only leaving complaints is not the best way to solve this problem..thanks.

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 6-speed and at 61,000 miles the clutch master cylinder and flywheel have completely fallen apart. It has cost me over $2,000.00 in damage and i was told by the mechanic the condition of the clutch and flywheel was completely out of the normal! i have also heard many other complaints of this same issue with the hyundai tiburon. Also, girard gibbs llp is investigating claims in connection with a pending lawsuit seeking class action status against hyundai america, inc. Consumers complain that certain hyundai tiburons experience premature clutch and/or flywheel failures, resulting in the vehicle being inoperable.consumers also complain that hyundai does not replace the parts under warranty, resulting in tremendous cost of replacements to the consumer.

I'm joining the 1,000 or so people on this site alone who own a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 6 speed. My clutch went out at 47,000 miles and it's going to the dealer next week for what i'm sure will be their attempt to screw me out of $2,000. I have two questions: how many of these have to fail before the gov't does something? all of them? second question: where does the ceo of hyundai live so i can stick his junk flywheel and clutch somewhere unpleasant?

I own a 2003 hyundai tiburon and when the weather is cold it was difficult to shift the car into any gear.since the company advertises a bumper to bumper warranty i wasn't to worried about this.finally i had the chance to drop the car off at the dealership for a check engine light.when i picked the car up the service manager told me that the clutch was worn out and not covered under warranty. He also told me that the flywheel would need to be replaced alos not covered under the warranty because the failed clutch caused the problem. I was told that to repair them both would be around seventeen hundred dollars .

I own an 03' 5spd tiburon gt although i love my car, the look, feel, and comfort it affords me as a daily driver. It has been plagued with many defective parts from sunroof track (twice) , leaky sunroof onto factory amp (in heavy rain) , alternator(exibited noise and smell batt. Light came on),drivers side window motor(thankfully window stuck in closed position). The most disconcerting problem of all however is the clutch assembly.the first clutch failed after only 6052miles and was replaced under warranty but on the service invoice it states "advised customer 1 time replacement on cluch and related componets" so much for the great warranty.now my tibby has 28000 miles on it and the clutch has "wore out" again, only this time the incident occured in a congested highway during 5:00 traffic. I depressed the clutch only to recieve a chrrssshhh noise, the clutch wouldent allow me to engage any gear i was almost rearended which i'm sure would've caused a pile up. Swerving into the adjacent lane to avoid impact,i pressed the flashers and coasted my way throuch traffic. The dealership insists my "driving habbits" are the cause of the problem. I have driven many manual cars and have had no clutch issues on any of them. This is ridiculous 2 clutches in 28000miles something is really wrong,i know there are many of us out there with this same problem if your reading this now chances are you have the same problem. Dont take it,file complaints, spread the word, we've got to keep huyndai honest if enough of us complain they will have to fix this problem and if you've already paid for a new clutch you could get deserved rembursement. The bottom line your not alone lets help eachother with this.

I am having to replace the clutch and flywheel on my 2003 hyundai tiburon for the 2nd time in under 3 years. The dealer will not cover this under warranty. Upon researching the number of complaints about this problem, there has got to be something that can be done.

I own a 2003 hyundai tiburon v6.it has 22500 miles and the clutch has gone out.we took it back to the dealer and they told us 3 times it would be covered by the warranty.after having the car for 8 days they called to say that the parts wont be covered due to "abuse".after talking to hyundai theywill not cover any part of repairing this.this car is a daily driver, not a race car!i believe hydunai knows their clutchs are bad-- we need a recall.

1) clutch in car was slipping when driving on highway.also was shuddering when acceleration from low speed in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gears.2) clutch slipping to the extent it was difficult to drive on highway3) initially hyundai said nothing was wrong and did nothing.after 3rd visit to dealer they finally looked into it further and found that the clutch, flywheel, pressure plate and throwout bearing were all bad.dealer replaced all parts following inspection.

The clutch slipped and failed to go into gear. The entire clutch assembly and fly wheel had burned up.

Purchased a 2003 hyundai tiuron, 2 door hatchback from allen turner automotive on 12/13/02. Cluch failed after approximately 18,000 miles and hyundai dealership in md,ourisman hyundai 3516 ft. Meade rd.laurel ,md 20724,(301) 725-4400 would not cover repair because the car had an after market air intake.paid $2,000 for repair.after repair, cluch failed again at approx 45,000 miles (mostly interstate driving) and allen turner automotive refused to cover the repair stating normal wear (after only 28,000 miles) and said it would cost $2,200.00 to repair.i performed reasearched the internet, e.g. National highway traffic safety administration (nhts), mycarstats.com, etc., and found hundreds of consummer complaints concerning pre-mature failure of cluch assembly in 2003 tiburon from 5k to 28k miles.all denied.also located hyundai technical service bulletin number 04-40-005, that discusses 2003 tiburons clucth failure with cause code **c09 - deformed.spoke with allen turner maintenance rep, keith whittington and he took this up his chain of command and they still refused to repair the clutch.i have already paid $2,000 for a clutch that failed at 18k and feel it is criminal, or at least immoral, for me to have to pay another $2,200 to have the cluch replaced again.seems like an excellent case for a class action suit since hundreds of people are being taken advantage of, but would rather resolve this through arbitration.any assistance/guidance would be appreciated.thank you.

I purchased the vehicle with 50000 miles on it. When i first purchased the vehicle i came into contact with a community of people with the same vehicle. The community is newtiburon.com.my vehicle is a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 6 speed. There are literally hundreds of people with the same complaint as me. As soon as i received the car i still had 10000 miles of warranty. So i took the vehicle to roseville hyundai to explain that there original clutch for my vehicle was a defective product that they had a tsb out on for replacement. I attend wyoming technical institute(which is an automotive tech school) they told me that it wasn't covered under warranty even though it is a defective part that they even have a replacement part for. I believe they were just trying to avoid the $2000 repair for them. Since i was so close to not being under warranty. I understand that a clutch is a wearable part, but when the company that produces a part and says themselves that there is a defective product on there vehicle and if any cars come in with this part it needs to be removed and replaced with the new part. The tsb number is tsb 04-40-005. The defective part number is 10/01/2001-02/24/2003....4110039140the new part is 02/24/2003-present.......4110039145now within this, if your car was manufactured before 02/01/03 you definitely have the defective part and you should get it replaced by the dealer. My car was manufactured on 01/13/03.the clutch and flywheel combo does not mate well together and causes premature clutch failure.whereas in my car my clutch slips at anything more that 1/4 throttle.

My car is an 03 hyundai tiburon.it was manufactured on july 23, 2002.i was reading on newtiburon.com that there was a class action complaint for cars manufactured before april of 2003, in reference to the clutches going bad.now i bought my car used and the owner before said the clutch was replaced at 45,000 miles.the car now has 54,000 miles on it and the clutch grabs really hard and sometimes is hard to drive.i have to release the clutch very slow in order for the car not to jerk hard.in the newtiburon.com forum they were saying some part was bad and can be replaced by the dealer.i was just wondering if my car has the bad part and should be replaced.

Complete failure of clutch.

Normal adult driving of vehicle. Pre-mature failure of clutch at 40k miles. Had to have independent transmission shop replace clutch at my expense.

Clutch slipping until the bearing eventually broke, clutch assembly was replaced but now it feels as if the clutch disengages and engages everytime i release the throttle even a bit. This problem does not go away.

While driving approximately 45 mph, i downshifted to make a turn.the pressure plate and flywheel collided and ripped each other apart, resulting in nearly $2000 in repair.dealership blamed failure on clutch pad.car was 8 months old.*la

I own a 2003 hyundai tiburon with 30000 miles. I recently took it to the dealership and they told me i need a new clutch. I then did some research into this problem and found many other owners with the same problem. Hyundai is claiming its because of driving habits but the mechanic who fixed my car (not hyundai dealer) found no abuse signs.i dont know what will come out of this but i hope someone investigates this problem before someone gets hurt driving one of these cars.the website for the car is www.tuscani.bego into forum and into the general section and read the clutch problem comments.

Vehicle experienced clutch assembly failure. While driving, suddenly driver was unable to shift gear. Shiftlever will notmove. Dealership replaced the part, problem recurred.

Owned my 2003 hyundai tiburon for about 36 months.during that time i have had to replace the clutch and flywheel twice.this is ridiculous.i have been driving manual transmissions since 1967 and have never burnt a clutch.and i am not alone.there are hundreds and hundreds of documented cases on the net and perhaps even thousands.each repair costs $1500-$2000.the first repair in november 2004 cost me $1800.both failures happened in traffic and both times had to take evasive maneuver to prevent an accident.the last time i ended up in a highway ditch to prevent a 40 ft trailer from running my car over.somebody better take a look at this car because it definitely has clutch / flywheel problems probably cause by poorly designed hydraulics.the way the hydraulics are designed causes the fluid to be restricted in one direction leading to smoother shifting, but it is this "smoother shifting" (slipping) that apparently is causing the excessive heat and burning up the clutches and flywheels.is there someone out there in government that cares enough to address this problem?corporate giant hyundai is not stepping up to correct this problem.at the rate of these failures, however, i'm destined to have another one.i am really "afraid" to drive it.is anyone going to do anything about this?or are they going to allow corporate giant hyundai to rip off the citizens of this country?i will be contacting my us senator and will be contacting the heads of the senate committees that oversee the nhtsa.i've noticed that complaints have been filed here for quite some time and nothing has been done, not even an investigation.*** there is only space in this complaint for one failure "date."my first failure occurred in november 2004, and the second failure occurred in december 2005 (repaired in march 2006).why so long in repairing?i refused to pay for it unless hyundai did something.i have records of all the repairs if needed.

I purchased a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt with 6 speed manual transmission because of the advertised 100,000 mile power-train warranty. In 2005 the clutch and pressure plate failed and i returned it to the dealer for warranty service. I was informed that the clutch assembly was a "wear item", had probably been abused, and was not covered. I have driven hundreds of thousands of manual shift miles in several cars and never had a clutch failure. It was repaired at a cost of over $800 and not reimbursed by hyundai. In july 2007, the clutch again malfunctioned and the clutch hydraulics and flywheel had to be replaced at a cost of over $1800. The company and dealers continue to claim that the failures are not the fault of the vehicle's design, but are rather the fault of the driver. My research on the nhtsa site shows over 650 nearly identical complaints from owners of 2003-2004 hyundai tiburons gt's and nearly none on 2005-2007. I believe that hyundai knows of the faulty design on earlier models and has remedied the problem on later models but will not acknowledge it or rebate the repair costs to those owners that have had these catastrophic clutch assembly problems on 2003 models. A full investigation should be made into these fraudulent practices of hyundai usa and restitution should be made to the injured owners of 2003 hyundai gt's with manual transmissions.

There have been several people with clutch problems who own the 2003 hyundai tiburon gt v6 5 and 6 speed transmissions. Hyundai refuses to acknowledge this problem and replace the clutch's on those vehicles affected. The clutch is wearing prematurely well before the 12 year 12000 mile warranty ends to cover such problems. This is a safety risk for the following reasons. 1. Vehicle fails to move on a highway. 2. Vehicle breaks down in a remote area where assistance would be hard to get. 3. Vehicle fails to operate properly leaving motorist stranded.*la

My son was driving my 2003 hyundai tiburon and when he came to a traffic light, he pushed in the clutch and heard a loud pop.the clutch quit working. I took it to the dealer and they said the clutch is only warranteed for 12,000 miles.i have 21,000 miles on the car.this was not explained to me when i bought the car.it was supposed to have a 5 year "bumper to bumper" warranty.

Had to replace my clutch after 25k miles.i am complaining along with the other hyundai tiburon owners.

A few months after i got the car, back in may 2003, the clutch has been horrible. I have complained to the dealership many times and they never find anything wrong. It slips all the time, sometimes won't disengage, which could really cause an accident. Alot of times it won't go into gear even though the clutch is pushed all the way in.

I have a 2003 hyundia tiburon.clutch slipping and vibration at 13000 miles.they replaced clutch assembly for free.now i have 17,400 miles and clutch is slipping again.please help all the owners of 2003 tiburon manuels.the dealer wants to charge $80.00 to look and tell me if it is my fault.i've been driving clutches well over 100,000 miles on cars.help!!

I have a2.7l v6 tiburon from 03 and currently have my car in the shop for a new clutch at 22.5k miles on it.at first i was shocked and convinced that they would find something else wrong with the car that caused the clutch to wear prematurely.however, their assessment was that i abused the clutch with abnormal driving causing it to overheat.they also commented that there was no unusual wear on the tires but they noticed a cold air intake (hated the silent wine of stock) which points to hard driving.they then proceeded to tell me that the clutch is not covered under warranty after 12k miles and that it would be $2,200 to fix.this is my second manual transmission vehicle in 13 years and i drove my previous one around 100k miles without ever having to replace the clutch.i know how to drive stick and i don't ride the clutch or drive like a maniac so i went online looking for similar problems other people may have had.sure enough there is an abundance of threads about the 03 clutch problems with many of them wearing out around the same mileage as mine.as i continue to read up on it i find that they did change the clutch they were putting into the 03 tiburon's very quickly and yet they maintain that there is nothing wrong with the old ones.it is a dangerous situation with these clutches going out so often and early.hyundai knows there was a problem with the clutches they put in the 03 tiburon and refuses to accept responsibility for it.after researching this clutch i'm convinced it is a bad part, not bad drivers causing this problem.there is even a class action lawsuit in the making over this issue.

My hyundai tiburon 03's clutch was burned out, but i've been driving a manual for a pretty long time and before, my toyota celica never had this problem.from what i heard, hyundai has defective clutch parts and they won't cover this under their warranty.the parts and the labor at hyundai would be extremely expensive.i would not want my car to have to replace the clutch every 2 years, from what i heard.

Clutch started to slip while driving at low rpms at 39000 miles.then progressively got worse to where it would slip in 6th gear.i had to replace my clutch with a new one that all in all cost me 1700 dollars.i replaced the clutch, throwout bearing, and flywheel.i do have the old parts if you would need them.

Complained several times about malfunctioning clutch on 2003 hyundai tiburon which we purchased new, and also paid for an additional warranty, which we were told would pick up the cost of any repairs that were not covered under the mfg. Standard 100k bumper-to-bumper warranty.each time we complained we were told that it was the way we were driving the vehicle.clutch has gone out at 57k miles and now they say it is a wear item and not covered under any warranty and will cost $2000.00 to fix. We were never told of the tsb 04-40-005 indicating deformed/defective clutch parts which should be replaced when customer brings vehicle in complaining of clutch problems.car is sitting at dealership and we are waiting for a written denial of coverage from mfg. And a written estimate of cost from dealer before we proceed.however, we see that there are hundreds of complaints on this clutch system and a class action lawsuit has been filed against hyundai in orange county superior court, case #06cc00052.there should be a recall for this item/vehicle before somebody gets killed or kills somebody else because they cannot control their vehicle due to the malfunctioning of this part.

Clutch on my '03 tiburon burnt out at 40k miles.

Bought a used 2003 hyundai tiburon with 18,484 miles on it. It has been driven responsibly for 10,000 miles and now gear oil combined with clutch dust is leaking from one of the gear box seals. The service technician at herb chambers hyundai on southbridge st. In auburn, ma says this will require a clutch and sealreplacement with the likelihood of a flywheel replacement as well. For all of this, the estimated cost is $322 parts and $900 labor. I find this unacceptable from a car company known for its warranty and a safety hazard to owners experiencing this same issue. It is unheard of for this to happen so prematurely in a vehicle and may be ignored by other owners.

Clutch slips while trying to accelerate to any speed.was entering highway and car would not accelerate on ramp almost causing a fatal accident.dealership says i ride the clutch and wore it out.i have owned several manual transmission cars in the past and never once had a clutch go bad.car only has 29000 miles on it.mechanic told me that even with riding the clutch there is no way it should go out so soon.faulty clutch assembly???i think so.hyundai needs to step up to their responsibilities and send a recall so that all of these "near" accidents don't turn into fatalities.fatalities due to faulty parts=lawsuits...lawsuits=millions.get your act together hyundai.

While driving uphill clutch failed, causing the vehicle to slip out of gear.

After 15,000 miles, my new 2003 hyundai tiburon's clutch failed to engage on interstate 76.the service reps at hyundai insists the clutch failure is due to not driving the hydraulic clutch properly.i have driven a clutch for seven years and never has one needed to be replaced, especially after only 15,000 miles.the service rep at hyundai even stated that it would probably fail again in another 15,000 miles.meanwhile, the warranty on the clutch only lasted up until 12,000 miles.performing a search on this issue, i have found there are a number of 2003 hyundai tiburon owners with clutches that have failed in 15,000 miles or less. I would like this item to be recalled so all owners can have their expenses reimbursed. *la

2003 hyundai tiburon question regarding problems with clutch going out on vehicle.*mr

My clutch has to be replaced at 39,000 miles. I drive my car well and cannot understand why this has to be replaced. The dealer has quoted me 1700 dollars and are saying that it is not covered under warranty because it is wear and tear. Reading all of the other complaints on this clutch it is apparent this is a defective part and the manufacturer should be replacing it for free! pretty sad that hyundai boasts about their 10 year warranty but won't replace anything under it!

Clutch giving out in 2003 hyundai tiburon gt.

My 2003 hyundai tiburon has about 23,000 miles on it and the clutch is blown. This is my second replacement. I replaced both times with oem parts and hyundai corp are not helping what so ever.

35k miles and i am told clutch/flywheel is shot, no covered because it may be abused. I have driven a manual my whole adult life and never replaced a clutch.this shold covered under hyundai warr. I have a stack of info against them almost 2inches high and corp says it is up to the service guy.

I purchased a 2003 hyundai tiburon used with 24,000 miles on the vehicle. I drove it for approximately 6,000 miles with no evident problems. Suddenly the clutch went out of the car. I found out that the clutch had already been replaced at 18,000 miles due to a failed bearing/ceased fly wheel. Hyundai dealership told my sales agent that the clutch would be replaced under the 6/60,000 warranty. I had the car towed to them. After taking the clutch off, they decided the failure was due to wear and tear and that the warranty would not cover a wear and tear item. I contacted customer service and they refused to authorize repairs. On carspace automotive forums, i have found that numerous 2003 tiburon purchases have resulted in failed clutches multiple times in the early life of the vehicle. It is obvious that this is defective equipment and hyundai should be forced to recall the clutch assembly and transmission in these vehicles. Mechanics i talked to believe the transmission is not completely releasing the clutch. This vehicle was purchased bymy son who is a us marine. I think it is disgraceful that a korean company is cheating our young soldiers.

My clutch is really slipping bad and needs to be replaced. I have heard many people with this complaint.i think the issue with the hyundai tiburon clutches needs to be looked at.

Clutch failure in new hyundai tiburon resulting in near accident - problem has recurred at intervals of 2000 - 4000 miles.ate is estimated for first incident of four.

While shifting and without warning the vehicle stalled. Driver was unable to restart vehicle. Had the vehicle towed to the dealer, andmechanic determined that the clutch needed to be replaced.three days after the vehicle was serviced at the dealer the clutch burned out.the tow truck operator indicated that there was not hydraulic fluid in the slave reservoir which controls the clutch.

The clutch in my hyundai tiburon just simply won't last long, the clutch went out on me completely while driving down the highway. I recently purchased the car and the quality of the clutch is just simply not up to standards. My car has 53000 miles and is a 2003 hyundai tiburon.

3rd clutch failure at 60,000k mi on 2003 hyundai gt 6 spd finally will install "updated" parts myself dealers have refused assistance any clutch work after 12000k miles. I am a skilled mechanic and know there is a defect in the clutch assembly, hyundai needs to take responsibility and buy back or repair the problem. Would like any info on a class action suit against hyundai for this issue. [email protected].

Faulty clutch..per warranty 10 years or 100,000 miles for drive train..$2000.00 clutch is not covered.had car in previous complaining about clutch not working properly.. Note that numerous complaints have been filed per information on the internet with tiberon's having clutch problems.

I have had my clutch and transmission repaired since 9-02. Then i was told about a defective part in the transmission, but it was no repaired at the time.i was told i could drive the vehicle, so i believed the service technician. In 6-03, once again i the defective clutch assembly, flywheel, pressure plate, clutch plate and the throw out bearing were replaced, and the sunroof motor was replaced for the second time. On 10-03 sunroof was repaired again. On 5-04 the sunroof was repaired again. On7-21-04 i advised service department my gears were getting stuck, but all the serviceman did was removed starter and told the rep it was covered with clutch disc material, therefore it was not covered by my powertrain warranty.it is the transmission that was not fixed on 9-02 that was the problem and they refuse to check it.i have a 2003 tiburon!!!

Clutch went out on vehicle after only 30,000 miles normal use.this has been a problem with alot of tiburon's/i had to pay to have my clutch replaced out of pocket at the hyundai dealership, even though the car is still under warranty, due to the fact that i am stationed with the army in germany.

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt with 6-speed standard transmission and 46000 miles.i live in indianapolis, in and the car was manufactured in october of 2002.recently i have been experiencing problems with the clutch in this car.i took it to the dealer and they told me that the failure is due to my driving habits and they have no responsibility under warranty for this problem.i have been arguing with them for about a week now because of all of the claims on the web that are exactly like what i am going through with this same car.they have given me a quote of 1356 dollars to replace the clutch, pressure plate, and flywheel and said that they would pay 50% of this as "goodwill".the whole situation seems unbelievable to me.i have driven a standard transmission for several years and have never had any other car with these problems.the dealer who is servicing the car even says that the clutch should last twice as long as it has.hyundai motor america's corporate office is who i have been arguing with about this issue and i think that they may be just offering to pay half because they know that they really should pay for the whole thing.i just don't know what to do because there is no way for me to know what is truly going on with this situation and whether hma is lying to me or not.i appreciate any help.thank you.

I have a 2003 tiburon v6 5 speed with 34,000 miles.clutch is completely burnt out and hyundai says it is normal wear and tear...absolutely not true , especially from the hundreds and hundreds of complaints i've seen.i was just told by a mechanic (not at hyundai shop--they were too expensive) that the flywheel has a faulty component, and that if i put a new clutch in, it will eat that one too.this is going to cost me min. $1500.hyundai needs to admit they have a problem and fix it.its too late for me, i'll never own another hyundai, but we need to be reimbursed and the cars need recalled immediately.

Two days ago i noticed a weird scraping noise coming from under my hood, and my clutch began to feel different, i could feel the scrape. The next day, at mid day thinking about taking the car to have it checked, the clutch goes to the floor and is just completely gone in an instant. I had the car towed to the shop and i have been told that the clutch and flywheel are completely gone and need new ones. I have been reading that the newer clutches and flywheel are supposed to be better and are supposed to be the ones installed in the cars, hopefully that is what happens with mine. The parts are to be replaced but all the cost is on me.

I bought a 2003 hyundai tiburon in may of 2003. I drove it off the lot with 5 miles on it. 200 miles down the road, i stop at a light and come to find that the car wont go into gear. Well we pushed the car off the road and had it towed. The dealer told me the next day that i needed a new clutch. Now that i have 22000 miles the clutch is gone again and they will not replace it under my "oh so over used" 100,000 mile warranty. Word is, there is a clause in the warranty that states the clutch is not part of that warranty, the clutch has a separate 12,000 mile warranty of its own. Nobody at the dealer ever tells anyone this. So now i am stuck with a bill for over 1500 dollars. I have driven over 75,000 miles in a manual, and have never had a clutch burn out. Something needs to be done to make hyundai back their word, and also fix the faulty clutch problem in their cars. *la

Ok so this is what's going on and has sounded like it has been going on for a while i am 18 and just made a new purchase of a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt 5 speed it is the first car i have really ever really babied and i have only had it for 3 weeks i have not drove the car hard or anything and the clutch is slipping bad the car ran and drove fine when i bought the car now im looking at a 2,000 dollar charge for something that shouldn't even have went wrong in the first place i leave for the army in july 2008 and now i don't want to drive my car because i am afraid to mess anything else up on it so i am just kind of stuck looking at and nice red car that isn't drivable and i called hyundai and they said its my problem. There should be something done about this.....

Dt: the contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon. The clutch was bad, and it took out the flywheel/clutch/transmission and the transfer case. The dealertold the contact thatshe took an electric saw to the transmission case and the clutch did not do it.furthermore, it wasnot covered under the warranty because it wasa clutch, and the clutch was normal wear and tear.she had two warranties, and they will not cover it under either one. She bought the vehicle on 6-15-05 , and it failed on8-25-05. The vehicle has 39,600 mileson it. When she bought the car it had 36,200 miles on it. The contact found approximately30 pages of complaints on the web about the clutch.updated 04/17/06

The clutch of our '03 tiburon v6 (6-spd) burnt out at 10000 miles ... Neither i nor my wife who drove the car 99% of the time are the "racing type" ... Yet the dealership (huffines hyundai of plano, tx) was quick to blame us for it ... They were willing to service it even after much chastizing ... The new clutch felt great on day one but by day 30, even with extreme "babying" of the clutch given how we were insulted, we could see how the clutch was starting to "act up" ... It has been a few months now where i am just waiting for that thing to "burn out" again ... We have had many vehicles and most of them with manual transmissions and i have never ever seen such poor parts and workmanship.hyundai should finally just bite the bullet, recall the vehicles and put in the appropriate parts.the existing clutch is obviously not able to handle the torque (oh, let's not forget they had _over_estimated the engine's output and we didn't find out until months after we purchased it!).

Clutch failure while driving, lost ability to use 2nd, 3rd, and 4th gear after moving into traffic without incident from first gear. Was able to coast to side of road.

2003 hyundai tiburon 4cyl clutch problem.replaced at 13,000 miles and it is going again at 41,000.i bought the car new and i am 44 years old and i don't abuse the car.

I bought a 2003 tiburon6/15/05, for $14,0008/27/05 started making grinding noises, smoking, sounded like engine blew up.towed to romero motors, ontario, closest hyundai dealer.i had original warranty & extended warranty.romero motors said replace clutch $1,400. I could not afford it & took to my mechanic. Opening engine hood there were metal shavings all over engine, and it cut tranny case in half.i called claremont ford/mazda (purchased car there)and was instructed to bring it to them.they towed it to romero motors. I called claremont ford/mazda and was advised to call romero motors.again, i was told by romero motors it was clutch wear n tear item & clutch took out transmission/no coverage under warranty. New estimate $3,400.00, and to my horror charged $818 tear down fee to put car back together. I again took it to my mechanic, purchased $920 in parts to fix problem paid my mechanic to fix. 100% hyundai parts.it ran a week and gears went out, this time i took it to a different dealership, glendora hyundai, where i had bought partsthey gave me estimate of $2,700gear shift installed backwards tearing up transmission again.i have known this mechanic for 24 years and he told me he put the shifter in exactly the way he took it out.glendora hyundai said that they received numerous complaints about romero motors all the time, that romero's mechanics had probably just thrown my car back together, not bothering to put everything where it belonged, broken parts were left on front seat.so it was very possible that the gearshift was in backwards.this car cost me $4,700, was down from 8/27/05until one week ago.i have pictures of the clutch and tranny case showing damage, close to sawinginto passenger compartment.i filed a complaint with the bar and they cited romero motors.my life has been one big nightmare since 8/27,now i'm finding out this is hydraulic problem and will happen every 5,000 to 10,000 miles. 8jb

Hyundai tiburon 2003 clutch failure.the pedal stuck to the floor.*sc

2003 tiburon gt with 2.7 liter engine is experiencing clutch issues resulting in the car not being able to shift out of gear or into gear at times.replaced clutch.

At 39,000 miles my clutch and flywheel needed to be replaced.the dealership stated that the warranty would not cover the costs due to wear and tear.there is a lawsuit that has been filed by green welling llp on behalf of numerous 2003 hyundai tiburon owners who have had the same experience.in a technical services bulletin sent to the dealerships in 2004 it was stated that the clutch parts are deformed.i would like to know what i can do to be reimbursed or to fight this.i have paid for repairs on something that should be covered under warranty.

Clutch does not engage properly during normal driving conditions.it often causes shifter to get stuck in gear or will not engage properly.

Clutch went out three xs before 40,000 miles.if anyone has the same problems please respond indetail.thanks.

I have experienced a clutch failure at 4500 mi and paid out of my own pocket to fix it.i am currently experiencing transmssion problems with my 2003 hyundai tiburon v6 6spd and i dont think hyundai is willing to fix it under their "amazing" 100,000 mile warranty.

On july 04 2003, we purchased a 2003 new hyundai tiburon from philpott motors in nederland. The vin[xxx].it started on dec 19, 20031 when the passenger window motor had to be replaced under warranty. Then, on dec. 22, 20031 the vehicle had a coolant leak that was repaired under warranty. On february 16, 2004the clutch went out all of a sudden with any warning. To april of 2003. In which all the parts they replaced have a production date of april 2003. In august of 2004 seven months later the clutch went out again on ih10 during noon traffic they would not cover it.the mechanic at transmission exchange told him that was not the case and that he stated that the slave cylinder was probably bent prior to their repairs six months ago. My complaint to philpott that if they agreed to cover the slave cylinder why would they not cover all the charges due to the fact this is a pull/push and if the salve cylinder was bent that it would cause this type of damage to the clutch. They refused to cover it costing $1,920.85. On september 16, 2005 the battery went out.. In august of 2005 the battery went out again. On the last week of august my daughter brought the vehicle to be serviced and asked why the air bag light was on and the technician told her the car was fine that he did not note any problems and that the light was on because it was telling her that everything was working. On september 05, the clutch started slipping again and we have parked the vehicle. Everyone has been told the exact line. It was the driver and it's a wear and tear item. Like the dealers have been told whatupdate:the hyundai rep stated that there was not any abnormal wear on my clutch that the flywheel was the problem and that we would have to pay to have it fixed because, the flywheel is not covered under the warranty. Updated 07/18/2012 information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6)

I have a 2003 gt v6 hyundai tiburon with 20440 miles on it. The clutch and gear have gone out. The dealer will not replace and wants to charge $1800.00 for repairs.

I have a 2003 hyundai tiburon gt with a 6 speed manual transmission. The clutch has gone out twice in less than 60k miles. I've driven manuals my whole life and never had a clutch go out until this car. After researching this i've found that this car has an unbelievably high number of clutch failures. Hyundai even stopped making the original "factory" part and replaces it with a different part now but they won't admit there was a problem with the first one. Thanks, jon

Normal driving, 2003 hyundai tiburon gt, 6 speed transmission. Can not get into gear. Car is undrivable. Dealer found that the flywheel came apart and damaging clutch, causing clutch, flywheel, and throughout bearing to need replacement. Hyundai knows there was a problem with it and will not warranty it. I have called hyundai and was not very satisfied with the results of our conversation. I was hung up on and accused of being rude for asking to talk with some one who could help me.

1.bought a 2003 hyundai tiburon v6, 6-spd (manual transmission) -- event:no event.simply drove the car as normal.2.less then 23,000 miles my clutch gave out.3.i had to replace the clutch assembly, flywheel and throwout bearing.parts and labor cost me over $1500 in repairs.less the 23k miles and i had to pay over $1500 for transmission repair.this is a common problem that owners of this year, make and model are experiencing.yet, hyundai refuses to do anything about it except force their customers to commit to a very expensive car repair early in the life of the vehicle.no car under normal wear and tear should have as much work done as myself and many others have had to deal with.this needs to be set up as a recall by hyundai and those of us hammered by this should be reimbursed.

I experienced my clutch failing at night on the way home this december.it was okay, then it went all the way to the floor.hyundai usa was contacted and had been told that my bumper to bumper 100,000 extended warranty would cover the repair.the local dealer told me that it isn't covered.after battling between national and local i brought the car home and had a friend, experienced mechanic, replace what i had been told was the problem, the slave cylinder.it still has the same problem.now, i have a fairly new car, i still can't drive.i have found several dozen consumers complaining of the same thing. Tsb's have come out on this model and yet, i am getting the run around from the dealer and hyundai usa.

2003 hyundai tiburon gt 2.7 l, i replaced the clutch and flywheel at 75,000 miles.im now at 88,000 miles and the clutch is out again! i release the clutch all the way out and when i attempt to accelerate the rpm's go up and very slowly it accelerates.this is a $1800 repair and twice within 13,000 miles in unacceptable!

I believe there is a serious safety issue with hyundai tiburon 2003 clutches.my 2003 hyundai tiburon clutch and flywheel broke on 3 separate occasions since i bought it.at around 10,000 miles, at around 30,000 miles and at around 50,000 miles.each time the hyundai dealer told me it broke because i'm a poor driver, however this is just not true and it appears to also be a problem with everyone else who bought this model as well. I have joined the class action law suit against hyundai for their defective clutches which was recently awarded money for which i am filing a claim form.however, i am contacting you now because i think this is a serious safety concern.i was on dangerous highways two of the three times this happened and was put in very precarious situations. The second time the clutch went out it just completely stopped working.the peddle went into the floor and i only barely had the momentum to carry me over a hill and glide to the side of the road, otherwise i would have been going backwards down the hill or stopped in the middle of a fast moving highway.furthermore, this left me stranded in a very bad area of town for several hours waiting for the tow truck.another time this happened, i was on an uphill curved interstate ramp which was bringing me to merge from the beltway to another interstate and instead of losing the clutch completely at once, i could just barely go 30mph (and deteriorating) and was trying to make it up the hill and merge as cars were zooming by me.while this clutch issue may not be as detrimental of a safety concern as for example brake failure, it still put me in a very scary situation.it seriously concerns me that hyundai has not recalled these clutches, despite the fact that based on the recent settlement they are clearly defective and hyundai knows they are defective.

Have been having clutch problems. I took it to the dealer last july 2007,.dealer couldn'tfind anything wrong, and charged me labor to look.the problems are getting worse...jumping into gear, sticking in reverse, etc.i've read everywhere this isvery common in this model.can i get any help?

*la

Driving on the highway with 50,000 miles on the car and the clutch and flywheel both failed. Hyundai refused to cover the repairs under warranty. Even though there is a technical service bulletin out for my vehicle model year saying there are "deformed clutch components", hyundai quoted me over 2,000 to fix the problem. I took it to an independent service shop where i paid 1,700 instead. Repeated attempts to contact the company have yielded no results.

Vehicle experienced clutch assembly failure. While driving, suddenly driver was unable to shift gear. Shiftlever will notmove. Dealership replaced the part, problem recurred.

Clutch failure during rush hour traffic almost caused several accidents while attempting to remove the car from the freeway.had the car towed to my residence were it is currently sitting inoperable.contacted the dealership and they informed me that they have not heard of any issues with the clutch in this year vehicle and i would have to pay $2300.00 to have it replaced.upon further investigation i found hundreds of other people with the same year car with the exact same problem, and to top it off i have also found a technical service bulletin released by hyundai for defective clutch parts in the same year vehicle.

-4 transmission/clutch failures-defective brake line-defective wheel hub -defective wheel bearing and knuckle-many other dangerous defects-all were repaired, most were covered under warranty after much dispute-no old parts available, but all repair orders are.

2003 hyundai tiburon v6 6 speed early clutch failure.

I have 2003 v6 tiburon, clutch failed at 19,000 miles. I learned to drive on manual transmission, have driven 6 years and never any clutch problems until this car. Dealership blamed me stating "owner abuse".had hyundai regional rep come out and she also blamed me, and said there were no other complaints on 2003 tiburons.told her about this site and she said "oh well, that's from people who race their cars and abuse them, we're not taking responsibility for their problems that they've caused themselves". Dealership was great, they came down on cost of repair from $1700 to $1400.they replaced all parts with 2004 parts and i haven't had any other problems, even though i still drive the same as i always did, so how can it be "owner abuse" that caused the problem?if it was my fault then why hasn't it happened again?my mom bought 2004 5 speed tiburon (she bought it before my problems started) and hasn't had any trouble at all.seems hyundai did realize there was a problem with 2003 clutch assembly and wouldn't ever admit it, but changed parts for 2004.they need to acknowledge this widespread problem and reimburse all owners that have paid out of pocket to repair something that was hyundai's fault in the first place.

3 clutch failures within 25,000 miles of car ownership. Dealership won't cover repairs saying it is driver error.

Faulty clutch resulting in unsafe operating conditions.

For some time, i have had an issue with hard shifting in my 2003 hyundai tiburon gt. I have searched all over the internet going through forums and even talking to my mechanics to try and find a solution to solve a problem that has gradually gotten worse and has gone from not only hard shifting but to also grinding of gears when simply driving down the road normally. When parking and shifting into reverse after the vehicle sits over night is the worst with also having to "punch force" the shifter into reverse and then into 1st gear. After the vehicle warms up, the symptoms appear to become a little more subtle but still persist. Only after the class action lawsuit filed against hyundai for clutch related issues in my vehicle has there been reports and solutions for the issue that was known to hyundai. Unfortunately, i purchased the car used and was unable to find any of this information out before i purchased and i am a very thorough investigator when it comes to buying everything.and to top it off the class action suit only helps those that have paid for repairs and now i am left in the dark with this situation looking to have to dish out who knows how much money to fix a problem that hyundai should have taken care of to begin with and i will also never get compensated for except for a technical service bulletin that admits what parts are faulty and ones i'll have to replace.

Clutch failure at 55,000 miles cost of repair $1200.

In aug of 2008, with 90k miles on the car, we had noticed that the clutch was becoming hard to in-gage in order to switch gears.we had the vehicle inspected and it was indicated that the clutch master cylinder seals were failing. During this repair the slave cylinder was also replaced . Because of the location of these components the clutch assembly was physically inspected during disassembly. The clutch, flywheeland pressure plate appeared burned and at a point of failure, when disassembled a ring on the flywheel was no longer in evidence. If the flywheel does not have this ring there is not anyway for the clutch to work so it was deduced that it decomposed in use and with no evidence of it in disassembly.this is a dual mass flywheel which has been shown to be problematic in other brands of vehicles. The cost of this repair was $2300. The company and dealers continue to claim that the failures are not the fault of the vehicle's design but are the fault driver abuse. Believe me, my wife and i have driven dozens of cars with manual transmissions some of which were high performance sports cars and have never had to replace a clutch in any car, three of which were used for amateur racing (others have been driven over 180k miles and sold without the need for a clutch replacement.) research on the nhsta site and others show over 700 identical complaints from owners of 2003-2004 hyundai tiburon gt's and almost zero on 2005-2007. The replacement flywheel assembly (put in the car in aug.2008) had a totally differentflywheel retaining device than the original. These two thingswould indicate that hyundai made corrective actions to fix this problem with later model vehicles and will not acknowledge or rebate repair costs to those owners of the 2003 and early 20046 speed clutch assemblies.a full investigation should be made in regards to this problem and restitution should be made to the owners and former owners of the affected vehicles.

In may 2009 my airbag warning light came on. I took it into the dealer and was told that the sensor in thedriver's seat belt buckle was defective. They replaced the unit and said it was not covered under a warranty. I was doing research and found that hyundai had issued a recall for the same problem under campaign number 02v290000. My vehicle was manufactured on oct 1, 2002 which was outside the recall dates but the same problem happened.

My air bag light has currently been on for almost a year now at first if i wiggled the seat belt latch it would go off but now it stays on.when i contact the dealership they say that my car is not affected by the seatbelt recall.they want to charge me all this money for something that should be covered by the recall.

Drivers side seat belt buckle wiring routing was an issue with air bag light number- 03-01-002 and was recalled in 2003.the same issue has arisen with the passenger seat belt buckle wire routing.the passenger side has now enabled the air bag light, which disables the air bags from deploying - even if there is no passenger in the vehicle or no weight on the seat.

While driving in a parking lot brakes failed, causing the vehicle to hit a light pole.

I was driving my 03 hyundai tiburon gt to dinner when i heard the driver-side rear brake start making a loud squeaking noise.i was in the middle of the road and could stop so i tried to get over but by the time i did the wheel locked up and tore the tire apart.i had it towed to dennis hyundai and they called me and said that the rear brake locked up due to rust forming on the caliper causing it to not release.they said that since it had not been greased properly that it would not be covered under warranty.i rented a trailer and picked it up the car. The person at dennis said that it only needed brake rotors and pads, that the caliper is fine. I went and bought the parts and repaired the car.in the process of repairing the car we checked and there was plenty of grease on the caliper.so, they lied about the cause of the wheel locking up. The problem is still occurring and they refuse to look at it without me paying them.they said since i did the work on it instead of paying them $600-$700 to do it that they won't be able to tell what happened.

-4 transmission/clutch failures-defective brake line-defective wheel hub -defective wheel bearing and knuckle-many other dangerous defects-all were repaired, most were covered under warranty after much dispute-no old parts available, but all repair orders are.

I was driving to my brother place when a wire started to smoke and cought on fire from under the steering wheel it was smokey where i could not see from the smoke and i hit a parked carfront windshield shattered and my airbag did not exposed at all. The passenger sustained a cut on the lip that did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was destroyed. The vin was unavailable. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Paint on the 2003 tiburon (teal/blue now called tidal wave) improper application results in scracthers appearing very easily. Using fingernails softly against paint will scratch it. In other extreme conditions micro flecks of paint come off of hood and other parts of car. Paint is much too thin for the mildest of road conditions resulting in rapidly aging appearance and condition. It is totally unacceptable. I would suggest a clearcoat applied or repainted.

Takata recall air bag light remains on door handles inside and outside constantly break off even after being replaced by factory parts leaving occupants trapped in car also replaced camshaftcontoller cause wiring is melting.

My 2003 hyundai tiburon went into a hyundai dealership for the recall on the control arm.however, while there, the dealers found a rust hole in the frame that is consistent with the hyundai sonata nhtsa defect action number ea08016.the hyundai tiburon and hyundai sonata have similar frames and problems.this recall/action number should be expanded to the hyundai tiburons made within the same year as the hyundai sonata's that experienced this problem.

-4 transmission/clutch failures-defective brake line-defective wheel hub -defective wheel bearing and knuckle-many other dangerous defects-all were repaired, most were covered under warranty after much dispute-no old parts available, but all repair orders are.

The lower control arm rusted and broke allowing the wheel to break lose and tilt in at the bottom.had this happened at highway speeds the results likely would have been loss of control and crash.it's a defect hyundai is aware of but failed to notify all owners.and hyundai is shorting the recall to certain states blaming the issue on road salt corrosion. While in fact it is a huge problem that hyundai is ignoring and leaving their consumers in harms way. There has to be many hyundai vehicle owners driving today in cars that are ticking time bombs. People will be hurt or killed if action is not taken very soon.all vehicles effected by this same manufacturing flaw are very dangerous to operate.

Hyundai attempted fix on control arm, cause arm to fail completely across control arm area where a hole wasdrilled in an attempt to remedy pounding issue... Control should have been replaced, may result in death or damaged to property...

Luckily driving slowly...applied my brakes and the passenger wheel turned inward causing the car to hop. The lower control arm on that side had rotted and failed leaving no control to steer that wheel. Car was towed and repaired at a aaa repair station. Have the rotted part(the lower control arm). I never received a recall for this from hyundai.

The contact owned a 2003 hyundai tiburon. While driving 45 mph and making a right turn, he could feel a hard vibration and he could feel one of the rear wheels folding under the vehicle. The vehicle sprung front end forward into a ditch. The contact was transported by an ambulance to the nearest hospital. A police report was filed. The front control arm snapped and caused the wheel separation, which was discovered after the crash. The vehicle was destroyed. The current and failure mileages were under 45,000.

The vehicle was being driven on a winding country road at speed about 35 mph.the left rear wheel began to wobble and caused the car to fish tail.driver attempted to keep vehicle on the road but ran off side twice before left wheel totally fell on side and vehicle came to stop.vehicle on side of failure never left roadway or hit curb etc but car severely damaged.failure from rear left suspension bolt pulling through upper control arm holes (stamped metal brace).

I purchased a 2003 black hyundai tiburon in march 2003.i have recently noticed paint chips all over the hood.i have also noticed fading which resulted in a circular form rippling of paint, which the dealer claims to be environmental factors.

I won a lemon law arbitration case, hyundai took me to court and i lost and i am still stuck with several problems.one item not included for discussion in the arbitration and court is the matter of false advertisement of horse power rating, which was only disclosed after i purchased my car.7/19/02 leave deposit to buy car. 8/9/02 pick up car. 8/28/02 first return for service for remote entry.9/9/02 second return for remote entry for service evening hours no paper work given. 9/11/-9/12/02 third return for service for remote entry. 9/16-9/23/02 fourth return for service for remote entry, painton car damaged in several places, oil/water leaks , remote fails twice to arm.1/10/03 drive to toms river nj, remote fails twice to arm.3/7/03 pinstripping on passenger side of car coming off.6/13/03 appear in supreme court , county of westchester, ny 8/7-8/15/03.fifth return for service for remote entry, correct damage to painton car in several places and recall on car 8/5/03 date of formal decision of the court 8/21/02 formal decision of the courtpostmarked 8/21/03 received 8/22/03document # 2 needless to say i am upset with the challenge brought by hyundai motor car of america after the recent binding arbitration finding in my favor.i live my life, believing and trusting in the american way.this challenge appears to be nothing more that a delay tactic by the company.they have full time council at their disposal, i don't.i haven't done anything wrong and wish to put this unpleasant experience behind me.when i first called the attorney general's office to inquire about the arbitration process and briefly described the particulars i was encouraged to apply.when my case was accepted by the attorney general i was more encouraged that i was justified in my pursuit.and of course when the decision was made in my favor i was reassured that the american system works.

Paint on the 2003 tiburon (blue)improper application results in micro flecks of paint coming off of hood and other parts of car.either adhesion is poor or paint much too thin for the mildest of road conditions resulting in rapidly aging appearance and condition. Unacceptable in my opinion. Need either a tinted clearcoat applied or repainted.*nlm

The car will take approximately 3 minutes of continuous cranking to get the car started. At times it will not stay started.

This is the second time the clutch has gone out. The first time was on may 2003 and i purchased the car in august of 2002. Hyundai flat out refused to pay for the repair and after much hassle they paid to fix it.this second time the clutch went out in august 2003. Hyundai is not wanting to pay to replace clutch. Their reason is that it is not under warranty, it has only been three months since they replaced the clutch. I was told it has a year warranty. They have had my car for three weeks.i have visited many web sites where other people who own this same type of car have had the same problems.i feel that they should fix my car at no cost.

Just took 03 tiburon to hyundai for recall said frame is rotting away never seen frame rot like this is there any recalls for frame rust or is there any thing i can do, hyundai said unfixable.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.while driving approximately 35 mph, the vehicle abnormally accelerated. The contact applied the brakes to stop the unintended acceleration but to no avail. The contact was able to stop the vehicle by utilizing the emergency brake. The contact shut off the vehicle and when restarting, the contact drove the vehicle 10 mph until she reached her residence yet the vehicle would abnormally jerk during her travel. The vehicle was towed to an authorized dealer where she was informed that the motor mount was installed backward and several bolts were missing.the vehicle was repaired and the failure did not recur.the failure and current mileage was 84,000.

While acceleratingat low speeds the accelerator pedal would intermittently stick.

Both passenger and driver side windows some times work. I have to pull on them to go up most of the time and they get stuck rolled all the way up some times.also the rear wiper blade motor does not work and the washer fluid motor dose not work.

Air conditioning blower motor control switch housing melted, causing climate control to be non functional. There have been approximately 4 replacements of switch due to same failure. Through online research this is a common problem.

The windows would not roll down.the dealer said the regulator was bad.

The drivers window and or window(s) had become inoperative.the consumer was told by the dealer that the problem was the switch, then was told that the problem wasn't the switch but the regulator, and when the part was placed on, it failed again.also, the consumer stated while driving, she had heard a bell ringing.scc

- the clutch is slipping- the motor for the passenger door window has failed and the driver side is failing.- the driver side interior door handle does not work, and the locking mechanism is failing.

The contact owns a 2003 hyundai tiburon.the contact attempted to roll down the power windows while parked but the windows would not operate. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where she was not informed of the cause of failure.the vehicle was repaired.the failure has since recurred approximately six times.after each occurrence, the vehicle was taken back to an authorized dealer to be repaired.the failure mileage was 19,855 and the current mileage was 84,000.

The air bag warning light stays illuminated while driving. When this occurs the driver's side window is inoperative. Although the dealership has serviced the vehicle several times for this issue, the problem recurred.

It seems only a few days after i bought my tiburon i have been having problems with my rear wiper.the first time it was grinding and making noise/motor. Took it in to dealership (van dynhoven in appleton, wi) of course they could not verify the problem. A few months later during cold weather it would just stop working and you could see it was struggling. Shut it off 10 min later would be working again. (obvious motor problem). Took it in to dealership, again could not verify. It continued happening during colder weather, must have taken in at least 3 times.they could never verify.i work for a gm dealership and after only reading the complaint i have written i would already know what the problem is and replaced the part. Hyundai cant tell me that they are not having problems with these rear wipers, because the new 2005's dont even have a rear wiper anymore.apparently hyundai doesnt have customer surveys like gm, i never got one, if i did that dealership would get a bad mark.i am now considering buying a subaru-impreza and trading my tibby in. Of course at a different dealer.

The sunroof has been taken back several times because it would not open.it has been reset by the dealership.the sunroof was opened and pieces began falling off of it,and it would not close after this.

Nar 05/28/2003*mrtraveling 65 mph on the interstate the consumer left front wheel broke off.
