(takata recall)i had a accident on 1/20/2016. My airbag did not inflation, when the airbag came out it was deflated. The airbag let out chemical in my face, eyes, nose, throat.the airbag exposurecause me eye trauma, face skin irritated , and sinus infection, headache . I hit some black ice on highway 77, three miles before you getto newborn, tn. My car slide of the road in to a ditch. The bag did not cause the accident, but it cause body problems.

In 2008 airbag light came on, took the car in for service. The dealer said that it was code b1382 and checked the car. It was the connection under the passenger seat. The light has been on and off since that date. The light is now on again. If it is a safety issue where my airbags are not going to be working, and someone get injured in my vehicle, hyundai will be held responsible for not having a recall . It is up to the ntsb to force hyundai to have a recall on this problem. People's lives are in danger seeing there are so many issues.

2005 hyundai sonata air bag light on.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata.the contact was driving approximately 45 mph when the vehicle was involved in a crash in which the air bags did not deploy.there were no reported injuries.the same failure occurred on two prior occasions in which the vehicle was involved in a crash and the air bags did not deploy.the vehicle was never taken to have the failure diagnosed but it was taken to an independent repair shop to have the body damages repaired.the vin was unavailable. The failure and current mileages were 175,000.

Our srs airbag light comes on time after time. We take it to the dealer and they turn it off, in a couple of days it will come back. We've been told when the light is on the system is not functioning. It comes on at times for no apparent reason. Is this common on hyundai's?

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that the air bag light illuminated while driving 2 mph. The light continued to illuminate intermittently. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the air bag light was reset. The failure recurred a few months later. The vehicle was taken back to the dealer and the contact was informed that in order to diagnose the failure, the procedure would be very timely. The failure was not diagnosed and the vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000. The vin was unavailable.

I bought the hyundai sonata 2005 gle from colonial hyundai of downigtwon pa. It was a used car with power train warranty given by the dealer. The car had approximately 73,000 miles at the time of purchase.soon after i purchased the car the airbags lights started showing up. I went to the dealership and got it fixed, they charged me labor and scanning fees despite it not being my fault as the car had no impact to any object or accidents. Within 6 months of getting it fixed the airbags lights started flashing again, the dealership fixed it again. The airbags light again came back again for the third time, i reported it to hyundai global customer service - their response was to take it back again to the same dealership and ask them to fix it.i did not take it back to the same dealership becasue i lacked confidence in their work hence i took it outside car service center where they ran the scan but could not find any issues with the airbags but said only hyundai dealership can reset the lights.i now moved to nj hence the hyundai dealership now wants 90$ to do the diagnosis after which they will give me an estimate.i feel its unnecessary waste of time and money and i have already spent enough on this issue. I feel it's unsafe to drive the car with the airbags issue.requesting help in this regard.

The airbag light came on. Nobody seems to know how to fix it. The more i look around i see this is a very common issue with this vehicle. Just this site alone had 50 complaints on the airbag alone.

Air bag light started to come on. I tookit to dealership. They taped a connector under the passenger seat and the light went out they did not tell me the trouble code. Then on 11/06/08 air bag comes on again at mileage 56236. I took it back to dealership and the trouble code was b1382 and they again cleaned connectors and positioned wiring under passenger seat and the light went out. Then it came on again and we drove it approx 30000 miles. On 02/06/12 i took it to another dealership (other one closed)at 88705 miles they found trouble code b 1382 and found bad connection under passenger seat again. They repaired connection and light went out. On 04/09/12 light is back on as i write this. Why doesn't hyundai get these problems taken care of? this seems to be an on going problem on the 2005 sonata.

Involved in a four car crash early this morning.i was the last in line and rear ended a truck.the sonata is totaled.the passenger airbag deployed, but not the driver's one.i hit the steering wheel and glasses flew off on the dashboard.it was a hard impact, the front end is destroyed.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata. The contact stated the air bag light illuminated continuously on the instrument panel. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told the light was illuminating due to wet paper towels under the seat causing corrosion. The paper towels were removed but the failure continued. The failure mileage was 18 and the current mileage was 71,000.

My wife had an accident on new jersey parkway south, the air bag on both the driver side and passengers side refuse to deploy, these has cause my wife broken ribbs and some bodily injuries according to doctors report....updated 07/13/16

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for inspection where they stated that the air bag sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 20,000.

Dt: the contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata. The passenger side front suspensionfailed while driving. The air bag deployed before impact. The contactdid not know exactly what part failed because he didnot have the vehicle right now because it was at the repair shop.the tie rod end was bent. While driving at about 10-15 mphheard like a crack, and thenthe air bags deployed, andvehiclehit a parked car. The road conditions were normalon pavement. There wasno impact damageto the passenger side wheel or hub cap. The failure occurred at normal driving.

Air bag dash light is on for seemingly no reason. It used to be intermittent, but it eventually stayed on. Mechanics and hyundai dealership have no answers. It comes on as soon as i start the car and doesn't turn off until the car is off. I was told my airbags will not deploy in an accident. How delightful.

Passenger air bag light stays on. Took it to an airbag specialist and they told me that the sensor is bad and that it would cost me $1,600. I cannot get an answer from hyundai as to whether or not this is under warranty. The car is a 2005 hyundai sonata.

The air bag light is on and it won't go off. This is all the time when the car is stationary, or moving. When you turn the car on and off, it's still on.

Airbag sensor light has turned on for no apparent reason.

Electrical issues began a month after driving the vehicle.front and rear light bulbs continue requiring replacement, the dash light also will flash when brakes are depressed.the trunk leaked the first christmas, dealer claimed to repair it, but failed, still leaks.air bag indicator came on, went off eventually, and is back on again.finally, car began losing power last year and cutting off sporadically in traffic, and now the rear and window brake lights remain on when lights are on but not when turned off.recall info points to defective stop brake switch that failed even after repair/replacement, however, my vin does not appear on the recall list and the dealer will not repair or replace.curious, since my car is of the make, model, and year reported!greedy and irresponsible !

I am the sole owner of a 2005 hyundai sonata. Since the first year of ownership, the car's airbag light has come on intermittently. I have taken the car in multiple times for diagnosis and repair. Each time, the diagnosis is either code b1378 or b1382. Connectors are then retaped. Repairs last for only a few months before airbag light turns on again. The last "repair" lasted approximately 2 years because the service consultant suggested that i not adjust my seat forward and backward as this might loosen the wiring/connectors. For the past two years i did not adjust my seat (rather uncomfortable getting in and out of car) but the airbag light did stay off. It is now on again. Hyundai consumer affairs and dealership say that i need to bring the car in again for a diagnosis. They will not cover the diagnosis or repair. I have been arguing that i should not be responsible for the cost because this has been a problem from the beginning. They have never repaired the problem. Why should i bring vehicle in again for the same "diagnosis and repair" when the repair is never achieved. I am beyond frustration. Please help! my car is running with inactive airbags.

Takata inflator my car has the air bag light on.

I have a 2005 hyundai sonata that was purchased new. Today the air bag light came on and has stayed on even after the ignition was turned off and then back on. After reading the many complaints about this problem and the cost of repairs by the dealers, it seems this is a defect and the cars should be recalled.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that while driving 25 mph, the air bag warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer for diagnosis where it was stated that the wiring to the passenger seat was damaged and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired but the problem persisted. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000.

Driving from dealer after purchasing this car used, the air bag light came on.returned to dealer and was "repaired" and told that they must have loosened the connection when they vacuumed the car.since then the air bag light has come on and off intermittently.about 6 months after purchasing the car the light came on again and stayed on.took to mechanic, they checked the codes and reset the light.the light stayed off for another 6 months or so.the light is back on again.took to my mechanic and was told that this time he could not reset the codes and that i needed to take to hyundaii dealer for repair.after reading other complaints about this year model, i feel like this is a scam by hyundaii to make sure that they make money off of a car that may or may not be dangerous.the airbag light is still on and i am driving the car, but will be unable to do so when i need annual safety inspection.can not afford to pay $1500+ for a repair on a car only worth about $4000.please investigate.

I was driving in my own lane with my seatbelt on and lights on and i didn't see this bus coming speeding with no lights on at all he scratched my passenger side door and he all most took the mirror off i hit the brake and it slowed to 55 and i still hit him i was going speed limit the radiator broke and the car all most exploded also the airbags didn't go off and the speed mph was about 5 off the steering pump also failed. I all most died.

Air bag lamp randomly turns on and off.paid to have it fixed once but after several days same trouble returned.as i understand, if the air bag lamp is lit the air bags will not deploy.this would seem like a mandatory recall for a very unsafe condition.

Air bag light illuminates. Checked by auto electrical service shop, reset light, but illuminates again shortly after. Constant problem. Told air bags will not operate if lights is on. Dangerous.

I own a 2005 hyundai sonata.my airbag light has been illuminated for the last 2+years.i only have ~44,000 miles on it now.i checked the fuse, its not blown.i had my codes checked.they state i have to bring it to a dealer/mechanic for diagnoses of airbag systems.i have done some research on the internet.it appears this is a common problem with 05/06 sonata's, which cost upwards of $1500 to diagnose/repair.i don't have the money to spare to fix a car - which is only worth about $4000 in the first place.meanwhile, i wonder if my airbags will work if i get in an accident.i hope someone looks into the airbag problem with the 05/06 hyundai sonatas.thanks.

Your probe into the hyundai sonata airbag issue should be expanded to earlier models as we have a 2005 and what you are initially explaining affects our vehicle also.we have had the airbag light reset a few times by the dealer (zimbrik hyundai in madison, wi).they initially stated that it was just a wire under the seat that needed to be reattached.they'd do that and turn off the airbag light, it'd be ok for a few months, then the light would come back on.they eventually stated they wanted to repack the airbag for thousands of dollars, seemed somewhat like a scam, so we no longer go it fixed and have been driving with the airbag light on.

Airbag light stays on. I have taken it back to dealer several times and has not been fix car is out of warranty.

This is the first date that i reported to the dealer that the air bag light was on. Since that time, the light has gone off and come back on a many times. It was checked again by the dealer and also by a local, certified mechanic. It usually stays off for about 6 months, but comes back on. It is now on again. In addition, i've had to replace the door jam switch in jan. 2014. The door chimes (seatbelt sound) goes off randomly. Now, this sound is back. The car randomly locks itself and the radio randomly goes on as well.i feel that the car has electrical problems that may make it unsafe. I am especially concerned about the air bag issue. The car has approximately 57,000 miles on it. I find it hard to believe that this vehicle hasn't been recalled for any number of reasons.

At about 110,000 miles the airbag light came on in my2005 sonata.i took it to the dealer and they scanned it. They said it was either a bad module or a break in a wire.i took it to a very good local mechanic and they inspected the wiring and module in the center console and found nothing obviously wrong.they put it back together and the light stayed off for about 6 months.i took it back again, the did the same thing and it stayed off for about 3 weeks.it has been on since.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata.while making a left turn at 15 mph, another vehicle struck the front and left side of the contact's vehicle.the vehicle spun 180 degrees and the air bags failed to deploy.the vehicle was destroyed.the road conditions were dry.two passengers suffered neck and back injuries and are under a doctor's care.the police report number is 07-04457.the current and failure mileages were 41,000.

I am the original owner of this vehicle since it was new.my wife primarily drives this car and the passenger seat maybe gets used about 10% of the time.the vehicle now has just over 70k miles.vehicle has been to the hyundai multiple times due to the air bag light coming on which has always been associated with the passenger seat.at first they told us it was due to stuff under the seat. The next time it was a bad module @ $400 to repair.this time was due to failure of state inspection.prior to taking to dealer to have the codes read, i did research online and found out that there was a service bulletin relative to the air bag circuit sensor wiring that should have been done at the dealer several years ago but never was. So this time, once at the dealer the codes were read and indicated a high resistance on both seats and a defective passenger seat belt buckle.i paid to have the service bulletin implemented and replacement of the passenger seat buckle.my wife picked the car up but within a couple miles the air bag light came on again.she returned to the dealer to have them repair it again.now there is a different code being read from the computer that indicates that there is a short on the passenger air bag, but this fault comes and goes if there is movement of the harness in the vicinity of the air bag within the passenger seat.the dealer contacted hyundai engineering concerning the newest fault code and they are is now telling me that hyundai engineering is stating that to correct this problem will require the seat to be replaced at a cost of $2200.this is absurd.the air bag system is one of the key safety systems on the vehicle and should be robust enough to withstand many years of service.i have had many cars over the last 40 years and have never had a car with so many wiring problems let alone air bag issues.

Are my airbags a problem? were they manufactured by takata? the air bag light has remained on since i bought the car used.should i get them replaced? am i in danger from airbags?

Takata recall

Having a constant malfunction with the airbag sensor after having repair at least 2 to 3 different time of having the car. The airbag light still comes on .

Takata recall. The contact owned a 2005 hyundai sonata. The contact was involved in a fender bender while driving approximately 10 mph. The air bags deployed and released a lot of tiny metal crystals. A police report was not filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was towed to a nearby dealer and deemed destroyed. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 120,000.

Brakes locked up while driving on the freeway causing a bad accident air bags did not deploy whole front end smashed in hood almost in the windsheild.

I have a 2005 hyundai sonata and reported this to the dealership twice as of today and the dealership continues to stall. The airbag light stays on and never goes off so i reported it again about this problem, where are safety concerns for the consumers.

After many indications of air bag failure (light on) and several costly repairs - finally found a hyundai dealer that indicated there was a bulletin on how to make the proper repair.repair made at 55,820 miles on 12/10/12 - now over 58,000 mile and no repeat of air bag light (this is a new record time and mileage with the air bag light out)error code that was consistently repeated = code b1382 quote from the e-mail from the dealer::got some good news on the vehicle and its needs for the srs light. Good news as it is going to be easily repaired and cost nothing out of pocket for you. It isn??t going to fall under any type of traditional warranty but we will be taking care of this under a goodwill warranty. It seems like the connectors that should have been repaired were repaired incorrectly. There is a bulletin on how to repair, seal, secure, and re route the wiring harness so that this does not happen any further in the future. It looks like this bulletin was not followed and therefore we had the repeat failure.

The contact owned a 2005 hyundai sonata. While driving atapproximately 20 mph, the vehicle was involved in a crash thatdestroyed the vehicle and the air bags did not deploy. A policereport was filed and three injuries were reported. The driverand two rear passengers were reported injured. The vehicle was towed to a towing company lot. Hyundai inspected the vehicle and informed the contact that the air bags functioned properly. The failure and current mileages were 95,000.

1. The car (hyundai sonata) had a front end collision with a truck that slammed on the brakes. The accident resulted in severe damages to the front of the car. 2. The airbags did not deploy. 3. The vehicle is in the body shop right now. No action has been taken yet.

We have had intermittent issues with the air bag light coming on in this vehicle. When it first happened we took it to a hyundai service center and they said that some items got under the front seat and compromised the wire harness. I explained my concerns to the service rep that i was shocked that the air bag and safety system could be compromised by items that may get under the seats. This week we had another an air bag warning light come on and again took the vehicle to the hyundai service center. This time it was determined thatthere was a short circuit in an air bag assembly. On8/26/14 i called a hyundai service contract representative about coverage for this under a service contract.i was advised that the air bag was a maintenance issue and that after time the airbag component would wear out. My reaction was that, yes, every component in the car will wear out over time. Using that argument, hyundai could argue that no components would be covered as every item on the car is arguably a maintenance issue. I found that position shockingas no service vendor or owner makes regular inspection of the air bag system. This experience leads me to believe that hyundai does not take their responsibility seriously regarding the use and safety of their air bag systems.

On december 17, 2007 at approx 5:30pmmy daughter was driving west on osuna at intersection of seaguill ,driving the speed limit of 35 mph, 35 being the posted speed limit.asshe proceeded through the intersection on a green light, a late model fordranger tried to go through the intersection crossing her path.as she advanced through the intersection she struck the ford ranger broad side. Fortunately for my daughter she had her seat belt on, because the 2005 hyundai sonata's air bags did not deploy. There was no reason for the hyundai 's air bags not deployingbecause the impact wasstraight aheadhit, unless the hyundai 's air bagwere defective. My daughterwas not hurt bad, although she has been having neck & back pain and is under a doctor's supervision.i have written to hyundai.,to this date they have been very unresponsive.this is a safety issue that needs to be investigated.there couldbe a defect in hyundai's air bag deployment system.next time they might not be so lucky.the accident happened in the city limits of albuquerque nm.

Passenger air bag light stays on. Took it to an airbag specialist and they told me that the sensor is bad and that it would cost me $1,600. I cannot get an answer from hyundai as to whether or not this is under warranty. The car is a 2005 hyundai sonata.

Vehicle crash (1). Vehicle traveling approximately 20 mph. Vehicle going opposite direction, makes left hand turn in front ofvehicle (1).drivers exits vehicle (1) car because of excessive smoke "fear of fire and tried to get away from car. Samaritans assist driver to back seat of vehicle (1) for a place to sit awaiting rescue/paramedics. Once driver was seated in the back seatthe airbag deployed, andvehicle (1)was totaled, and driverwas in stable condition, but the airbag never deployed during impact?

Car ran stop sign in front of me.hit other vehicle at approximately 45 mph directly on its front axle.my air bags did not deploy.damage to front end of sonata in excess of $4000.

Husband driving at low speed, car in front of him stopped; brakes on sonata failed-hit brake pedal to the floor, but sonata still did not stop; car was at the dealer (savage hyundai) the week before for inspection and all was fine; husband hit car in front of him and that person hit another car.in addition, air bags did not deploy even though there was $6700 worth of front end damage; told dealer-said high hit; called hyundai-implied damage was high and perhaps air bags should have deployed, but make it very difficult to file a formal complaint; said we needed pictures, etc.; car was at the hyundai dealer being fixed; both hyundai dealer and hyundai corporate not making things easy.

For the third time, the airbag sensor light is on in the cluster panel.local hyundai dealer cannot tell me if the airbag is operable.i'm shocked at the number of airbag complaints found on this site for the 05 sonata and the failure to deploy. I have records indicating loose clips, defective module replaced, etc. On service for air bag light.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 20 mph, the vehicle crashed and the air bags did not deploy.the contact tried to avoid an animal in the road and crashed into a parked vehicle.the point of impact was to the front of the vehicle.the contact was not wearing a seat belt and the contact's head busted the windshield.only minor injuries were sustained.the police were at the scene of the accident and filed a written report.additional, property damage was to the parked vehicle.updated 5/10/2006 -

Air bag light 2005 hyundai sonata is always on. I had it reset 1x. I cannot get my car to pass inspection and from what i'm reading online this could cost up to 1600$..i cannot afford that kind of fix and my extended warranty doesn't cover it. This vehicle should be recalled because this is a very common problem with the 05/06 sonata. This is a safety issue and should not be ignored.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata.the air bag warning indicator light remained illuminated when the vehiclewas started.the dealer stated that the passenger side air bag module needed to be replaced.the dealer has not received the part in order to make the repair.the contact has been waiting for the air bag module for approximately one month.the contact felt that the length of waiting timewas too long.the current and failure mileagewas 30,000.

There is an electrical problem in my auto, which manifest itself when i switch on the electrical system. My headlights would come on normally, but inside the cabin the dashboard and all the other lights would start blinking on/off like the hazard light. The power door locks would also come unlock and when i checked on the external lights, the headlights would be steady, but the indicator (amber) lights and brake lights would be blinking.i have taken the car to a dealer but they were unable to diagnose the problem, because as they say, there are no diagnostic codes showing for electrical faults. I would appreciate any help you can give.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have not owned my 2005 hyundai sonata for one year yet and is experiencing a confusing time with one set of the exterior lighting not working at all, the fuse were checked so i was told that it may be the switch, also the electrical system on the power doors always lock three out of the four doors. The check engine light goes on and off every other week the code says its a oxygen sensor. The lighting it restraining me form driving at night.

Complaint involves problems with the electrical system.i have been to at least 4 different places to attempt get this diagnosed- the problem has been going on over 5 months. Car has been excellent until the past few months. Engine is fine.what happens is that when you drive the vehicle there is some kind of short in the electrical system and the car turns off.no warming.when you are driving at night- and the problem happens the car goes completely dark.sometimes you can sort of glide to the side of the road.sometimes the short happens and then whatever is not working will reconnect and the car will not totally shut off.it is very disturbing and frightening.sometimes my car completely dies in traffic-it might be dead for 20 or so minutes and then will all of sudden restart and i can make it home.i have been to my regular mechanic who has taken care of this car for years he was unable to diagnose it.took to a hyundai garage/ dealership have been there 3 times- they are unable to diagnose the problem.this week took it to another garage they have been unable to diagnose this.i love my car but feel very unsafe.i no longer drive on the interstate because i feel so unsafe.if there is any help or direction you can give to help diagnose electrical problems in sonatas it would be welcome.intermittent problem for he past 4 months- sometimes my car dies 7 to 8 times a day- sometimes it runs perfectly.

The check engine light keeps coming on. The dealer has tried to fix it three times. The first time the engine light came on the car only had about 12 thousand miles. The light did not come back on for over 10 months. The car now has about 22 thousand miles and the dealer has tried to get the light to go off twice in the last month. The last time was about two weeks ago and the light stayed off for two weeks and now its back on. The dealer kept the car for a week and the light only stayed off for two weeks! the transmission seems to drag when the check engine light comes on.

Head lamps and fog lamps burn out all at the same time, possible short in wiring.

I purchased a hyundai sonata 2005 about a month a1/2 ago well after a month of driving the car i started having some problems with the car. One of the problems i started having was under the dashboard, it gets hot on my legs and the passenger side gets hot also it gets so hot that i have to turn on my air to cool it off. My radio started making noise it would sound like someone was blowing into the speakers. And from time to time my brakes will squeak. I took it to the dealer and just because these things didn't happen when they checked it out they told me nothing was wrong with the car. I was also told when the problems start again to bring it back to the dealer but what if the dealer is closed or once i get there the problems stop? i could be out of town when the problems start again. And they did start again wednesday night when i picked my daughter up from work i had my windows down and had to turn the air on so it could cool of under the dashboard. The people at the dealership really made me mad.

Ever time i press the brakes hard the engine turns of completely

While driving on the freeway the car started accelerating on its own. Tried pumping the gas pedal to release it, car still accelerated. Brakes did little good. Was able to down shift into first gear, then into neutral and utilizing the emergency brake was able to get the car slowed down enough to cut the engine. Some problem happened immediately when i turned the car back on trying to get it off the freeway off ramp. Was able to stop safely in a parking lot without hitting anything. Had the car towed to the dealership, where they said it was a problem with the throttle.

While driving in a heavy rain the engine begin missing and slowing down.because of the rain traffic was running at about 25 mph.the engine shut off and i drifted onto the shoulder of the highway (i 95).after a few attempts the engine restarted , but was still missing badly i could only get to approx. 20mph.each time i stopped the engine would stop.using the shoulder of the road we were able to make it home.the next morning i tried to start the car but it would not.i open the hood just to see if there was anything visibly wrong.i checked the air filter and find that it was full of water.with wet filter out and the water removed from the filter housing the car runs with out a problem.i can't locate where the air intake is to see if there is part missing etc.this is the fourth time this has happen.the dealersanswer for this problem"don't drive in heavy rain".

2005 hyundai sonata, engine in this car was meant to be in the elantra which is a much smaller and lighter car, but when put 4 cylinder engine in a sonata which is a heaver and larger car, even though engine operates to the spec, other problems are evident which the dealer and the manufacturer failed to tell the consumer, now this car idles so bad it is worse than a truck when car is in drive and stopped at light etc.

I was driving home just like everyday from work. All of a sudden when i got off the high way it felt like my car was an airplane trying to take off.. Well it turns out i have a bad motor. There were no signs no nothing. I could have been in a worst place. I do not have any where near the mileage that i should for my motor to just go.

I purchased the vehicle used in 12/2005 from a non-hyundai dealer.i began to notice that the car periodically did not shut off immediately when the key is turned to the off position. It shudders for a few seconds, then goes off.i have contacted the manufacturer and have been to the hyundai dealer more than 3 times with this complaint beginning february/2006.i also noticed that the car vibrates/revs up when at a red light.this is very irritating since the vibration also goes through to the steering wheel and causes my arms and hands to vibrate also. Initially, i was told that all of this was normal - however i did not experience any of this when i rented the same type of car last year.then i was told that there is a loose engine mount.i then had two experiences within one week where the car did not start - lights, radio, a/c still came on - but the car did not start.i had to be towed to the dealership.the first time, they changed a relay and the second time, after keeping the car for one week they changed the entire fuse box. I haven't had a problem with the car starting since, however the vibration is getting worse, the car still does not shut off immediately, and now it revs to the point that the car feels like it is trying to pull off before i take my foot off of the brake pedal. I pulled a car history report that revealed that the car failed emissions, had a left door replaced, and had a starter assembly replaced.none of this was disclosed at the time of purchase and was not included on the car history report provided by the selling dealer - otherwise, i would have never purchased the vehicle.when i questioned a residue behind the radio station display panel, i was told by the selling dealer that it could have happened as a result of the aaa inspection since they sometimes take down the dashboard.

I had come to a complete stop attempting to merge into traffic, as i pressed on accelerator, i felt it go down under my foot, thus hiting the right rear bumper of the car in front of me.this was the first time.the second time happened in january. 2012. I was turning into my parking spot, and i had softly braked. And as i pressed on the acceleator, and like the first time, i felt the accelerator go down beneath my foot, without pressing too hard.i ran into my apartment, and caused a good deal of damage to it.as well as my car.i have not had an incident since, but i remain scared that it will happen again.i took vehicle to oxmoor hyundai, in louisville, and could not find find anything wrong, and i had to pay just under $100.00 to tell me this.and my auto insurance went up drastically.

My 2005 hyundai sonata has very weak low beam headlights, this has been ongoing since the car has been brand new.

Low beam headlamps blow out approx. Every 3 to 4 months.no one has been ableto give any reason for this.auto parts personnel state that headlamps should last foryears.lamps in the 2005 sonata have to be replaced at least 3 or 4 times per year.dealership could not provide any information concerning headlamp failures.this seems to be a common problem with the 2005 sonata.replacement lamps are very weak unless sylvania silverstar ultra night vision lamps are used, but they are about $50 for a pack of two.that is at least $150 to $200 per year for low beam headlamps.does anyone have a solution to this problem.this has been happening every three to four months since we bought the car new in june 2005.

Check engine light goes on (and produces code of p0441) . From that point forward, whenever you add gas to the tank, the car hard starts and continually stalls.purge control valve replacement becomes necessary to eliminate the problem.online research revealed that this is a common problem with many hyundai (perhaps all) models, and therefore a recall is in order.

My vehicle has been shutting off or stalling after filling it up with gas. It began over a year ago with sporadic incidents and has progressed to occurring every time i put gas in my car. The first happened a few months after i bought my car. I was exiting a gas station after filling up. As i reached the main street and was pulling out onto the road, my car completely shut off and began rolling into the busy road. I turned it off, then on and it began running again. This happened 5 more times over the span of 1yr 4 mos, each time only after i put gas in my car. It has now progressed to not starting at all after i put gas in my car. Recently, i filled up my car and when finished , it would not start. I tried multiple times, giving the car breaks in-between and it either turned on then sputtered and died or didn't turn on at all. It took 30mins for me to start my car but i was eventually able to leave the gas station. I did some research and i discovered that this was a common problem for hyundai sonatas of the same year (and even some other models/years). The next time, i didn't fill up all the way but put in 1/4 tank of gas. Once again, my car did not start for around 25 minutes. That day, i paid $65 to have my car looked at by hyundai and was told that i needed approximately $845 worth of repairs/replacements of my canister, canister valve, purge valve, and my idle control vent valve (not including the $219 labor fee necessary if charcoal bits have gotten into my gas tank). I have ever heard of any of these problems, much less believe that it should be the responsibility of the consumer to repair a commonplace problem with hyundai cars. This problem is dangerous regarding the car's sporadic shutoffs which have happened to me in multiple compromising situations. This puts the consumer's life in danger ie: rolling into the street and being stranded in my case.

Cut valve in gas tank neck failed. When fueling vehicle gas would shut off within 2 seconds, attempting to fuel again gas would shoot out splashing gas on you. Quickly moving out of the way i broke off the cover plate to fuel cap.

I don't have vin on hand. When i go for gas everytime, the gas clicks off and gas pours onto ground. If i hold the lever to study the flow it still spills. Called hyundai, they deny this problem. Talked to many owners all have same problem. This is a hazard to the environment. Gas on ground. Plus the gas remains on the fender. If there was to be a cigarette thrown out of another moving car or spark the car would explode. I think it is time that hyundai take responsibility and do a recall. Their contention is to wait til i blow up on fire before they would do nothing. Even then they would deny the problem. Something must be done.[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

I have a 2005 hyundai sonata, bought new. The front passenger seat moves forward and backward on acceleration and deceleration. It is more pronounced on braking. The seat slides about 4 inches forwardwith braking over 25mph. I took it to ganley hyundai on brookpark road in parma ohio for repairs. The service manager said it was fixed, but it still slides. If the manager says it is fixed, and it still moves, to me this means it is unrepairable. Another issue with the car is the rear view mirror blocks out entire cars from view. It is much too large for the size of the windshield.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata.while idling at a stop sign, the contact was rear ended and the front driver seat reclined backwards to its final position.the dealer was notified.there were no injuries.a police report was filed.the current mileage was 30,000 and failure mileage was 28,000.

Brakes locked up while driving on the freeway causing a bad accident air bags did not deploy whole front end smashed in hood almost in the windsheild.

With family in car a traffic situation occurred that required aggressive braking. Without warning the car nose-dived, & swung strongly to the left. The situation was very scary & i regained control. Fortunately no car was in the nearby lane.took the car into firestone where among other things their certified master mechanic did a full brake inspection, checked the tires for size and pressure & did a brake fluid flush.they advised that there was an abs problem & i should immediately take the car into the dealer as this is a major safety problem!i took the car to the hyundai dealer in denton, tx who ran extensive diagnostic's and said the abs control module (589203c500) system had malfunctioned, was defective finding only fluid flow to the left front brake ca.the dealer quoted approx. $2500 for materials, tax and labor saying there was no warrant coverage. We were shocked by both the cost to fix and that an apparent manufacturing defect would not be covered by the manufacturer.at the dealer 10/01/2012, i called hyundai motors usa & filed case #5034644.after quite some time on the phone the case manager said there was no warranty coverage, they felt no responsibility for the defect and essentially that it was all on me to fix it.even after additionally sharing my lack of employment & tough family financial situation it was, "sorry we can do nothing as your vehicle is out of warranty. We now have no choice but to figure out how to pay for the repair out of pocket as the car is crucial to our needs.

I own a 2005 hyundai sonata. It seems that the brakes act funny (don't work right/longer stop time) whenever it is wet or cold out. I have had work done on it by the dealer and was informed that the front brakes were froze up and only half working. They wanted $45 to clean them for me. Instead i had my normal mechanic do the cleaning when he replaced my rear brake pads and rotors. He did the cleaning for free. About a month later on my way home, driving through the rain i came up to a stop light with 3 or 4 vehicles stopped at it, i pressed the brake with about fifty feet between my vehicle and theirs traveling at 45 mph and the car didn't slow down at all. I used my emergency brake to slow down but still hit a vehicle in front of me. No one was hurt. I can't say the same for my car... It hit an suv. The suv had minor damage but my car's front end was destroyed, and the airbags didn't deploy. The car was taken back to my mechanic for repairs and to have the brakes checked and the brakes were sticking a little but all he could figure out is that the calipers need more clearance. The brakes worked for him with no fixing but he also drove it in fair/sunny weather.to sum up the information i do regular maintenance on my vehicle. The brakes hardly, if at all work in cold and wet weather. And nothing is really being done even after i called the dealership about the issue.when i spoke to the mechanic at the dealership he said it was common for this car to have brakes freeze up due to rust buildup and offered to make an appointment to have them cleaned (once again for $45) there is also a part available for extra money of coarse that is a new caliper slide assembly with additional clearance. This tells me that hyundai knows about the issue but is unwilling to do anything about it.

Dt*:the contact stated while traveling at low speeds the brakes failed causing two accidents.the pedal was depressed to the floor.the vehicle has been in for body repairs however, the dealer has not been contacted about the brakes.no injuries were reported and police reports were filed. At approximately 40,000 miles, the rear brake disintegrated due to dragging and i was informed it was my driving.only one rear brake malfunctioned in this way, however all rotors had to be "turned down" and new brakes were installed all around even though all other 3 pads were like new.at 72,000 the front brake did the exact same thing and the rear brake was close to being detrimental to the rotor.the front rotors could not be "turned-down" again, so new rotors were applied.this particular mechanic, at a well know facility informed me that hyundai's are notorious for wearing out brakes and they see this continued problem.they also informed me that the hyundai dealer is quite aware of this issue.i am now on a "watch" at this mechanic's shop to keep from having yet another brake issue.something causes the brakes to drag and wear quickly and not always the same brake.the brake peddle, after the first hyundai service, went to floor and i was informed that the sonata is designed for the "older" customer whose reaction time is slower and more unsteady, therefore the braking is longer and softer.after the new mechanic adjusted everything, my brakes are normal.

My hyundai sonata 2005 is very unsafe! the whole frame of the car is rotted out. I was driving on the expressway with my children in the car and my tire blew! a nice man drive off from the other side of highway came around to put a spare on. "takata recall"i thought i needed a new inner tie rod on my 2005 hyundai sonata.when i went to the shop the mechanic told me you have bigger problems." your sub-frame on this car is rusted out and the car is unsafe to drive."with that information, i called the hyundai support number, they gave me a reference number, i then went to the hyundai dealership to get an estimate for repairs and to see if hyundai would repair the subframe.the dealership told me that hyundai corporation refused to pay any goodwill money to fix the car but they did tell me, " our advice: " is to not drive the car, it is unsafe." this is not a mechanical issue this is a safety issue, and even though i did not find any recalls for 2005 subframe, it was obviousthat hyundai knew they did have a slew of sonatas that had a serious subframe corrosion problem.in my bit of research, there has been a definite problem with the sonatas and the subframe rotting out, all different years and mileage and age that hyundai did repair the cars that i found onedmonds.com and on the internet.

Failed inspection in part due to front subframe rust through. Called hyundai and spoke to a claims rep. By the name of nathan & tier2 rep tim. Both told me there were recalls on sonatas up to 2004 for this problem, but not 2005. The 2005 model is the same model as 2004. The model year didn't change till 2006 so why was 2005 excluded from the recall? my car has 120k miles on it. Both told me it wasn't under recall or warranty, and that hyundai would not be able to do anything for me, . How is it the a car 11 years old has a bad frame? hope you will be able to help us.

While changing my oil on the weekend, i noticed severe corrosion failures with the front subframe on the right side of my car. (see attached photos). One area was in front of the lower control arm and another area is behind the control arm. It looks like the subframe will fail at any moment and the control arm would be free to move anywhere. This would significantly affect control of the vehicle and be a serious safety concern. I see this part has already had a recall for 2001 to 2004 hyundai sonatas which is the same body and frame style as the 2005 vehicle. Recall #09v124000.

The sub frame in the front rusted out just like the salt belt 1999-2004 the car has only two spots of rust at the back fender. No other rust i took it to a service station because it was pulling to the right he lifted the car and the sub frame is rotted out just like they did on the 1999-2004 but hyundai will not fix because its a 2005 i think the part is the same as the 2004 and they cant tell me that and wont help me.

Was trying to get ac compressor replaced by a local repairman, whileperforming the task, he found the subframe severely corroded, advised not to drive due to safety. Contacted hyundai customer service, they advised to take car to hyundai dealer for inspection of the car. The dealer said they would inspect andtake pictures and contact the corporate office with info. Hyundai corporateadvised that the warranty was up, would not be responsible for the repair.however, the 2001 thru 2004 sonata models were recalled (09v12400, 04/16/2009, suspension) for the same problem, front subframe corrosion.

I have a hyundai sonata 2005 and the mechanic from hyundai dealership notified me the subframe corrosion issue. The symptom of my car exactly same as the case from nicholas cirulli and robert d'elia v. Hyundai motor company and hyundai motor america, which eventually recalled 2000 - 2004 hyundai sonata due to the subframe corrosion issue. I am wondering whether 2005 hyundai sonata owners experience a similar issue and this vehicle should be included on the recall as well. I would appreciate if nhtsa would review this case. Thanks.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that there was an abnormal noise progressing from the vehicle. The vehicle was inspected and diagnosed by an independent mechanic who stated that the entire subframe was prematurely rusted and needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and a service campaign, which excluded the vehicle although the symptoms were the same. The manufacturer was notified of the failure, but provided no remedy to prevent the failure other than taking the vehicle to a dealer for diagnostic testing and repair. The approximate failure mileage was 144,000.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata. While the contact was replacing the brakes on his vehicle at his home, he noticed the subframe was completely corroded. The vehicle was taken to elyria hyundai (845 leona st, elyria, oh 44035, (440) 374-8700) where it was determined that the subframe was rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. Rust underneath engine part of body front passenger sidei think this metal support break anytime while driving in rain

Chrome interior door handle. The chrome on the handle is cracking at the chrome edge. It has a sharp edge and cut my passengers hand. I had this handle replaced under warranty once before for this issue and now it is having the same issue as before. They have a recall on the 2002 - 2003 sonatas personally i don't think they fixed anything and this should be included for the recall as well.

About two years ago the chrome plating on the interior door handles started to peel off, resulting in hazardous sharp edges being formed. Since then it has only gotten worse and everyone in my family has received at least one cut or laceration from these sharp edges. Yesterday (03/02/2014) as i was getting out of my vehicle i received a cut on my hand about an inch long and a quarter inch deep. It required stitches to close the open wound.i know that hyundai has issued recalls for this same exact problem on their 2003-2004 models. Clearly my 2005 needs to be included in this recall.

The drivers door handle has a chrome cover on it, that at one point was glued tight to the handle, but now due to wear and tear, the edge of the plastic chrome piece is exposed and it your not paying attention and slide your hand across it when opening the door, it can result in a cut.gash in someone's hand. (injury) i have gotten a few cuts, nothing serious, but if someone really was in a rush, it could be quite a deep cut/gash in your hand.

I purchased a 2005 hyundai sonata new on 2/18/05 and the dealer, parr hyundai in bremerton installed a plastic hood deflector.in the spring of 2007, i reported that the deflector was vibrating and the dealer checked it out.said nothing was wrong.in july 2007, while driving on highway i 5 from olympia to tacoma, wa., the deflector suddenly flew off.i was going about 65 miles per hour.it was dark and i did not see where it went.luckily, it did not hit anyone.had that happened, it would have caused serious damage to any vehicle following or perhaps killed someone.i reported it to the dealer, but they claimed a rock hit my car.i do not believe this is true.the vibrations were getting worse and i had decided to return to the dealer and have the deflector removed.i waited too long, however, and the deflector flew off.the defector part number is 00239-f2000.my concern is not financial, since my loss was only $66.13.what does concern me is that future failures of the deflectors could cause great bodily harm and property damage.the auto dealer does not appear to be concerned.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata. While the vehicle was at an independent mechanic for routine maintenance, the technician informed the contact that the subframe was rusted. The vehicle was then taken to suntrup hyundai wentzville (971 wilmer rd, wentzville, mo 63385, (636) 887-8711) where it was confirmed that the subframe was rusted. The vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The failure mileage was 110,978.

I took my car to my mechanic to change oil on 1/9/2018 and he discovered a big hole (bigger than the fist-size) on the right front of the subframe underneath the car due to rusting and severe corrosion (please see the attached picture for more details). The mechanic told me that this is a serious safety issue, which is not supposed to happen. He strongly recommended me to go to the dealer and have this fixed as soon as possible.right after that, i called hyundai customer service and they told me that my car doesn't have a warranty and it is not under recall based on the vin, so they will not do anything about it. I got the same answer from the dealer at hyundai davis in nj.i searched online and found 2 recalls issued by hyundai for the same problem. One started in 2009 with the nhtsa recall id # 09v124000 (including 1999-2004 hyundai sonata) and another one in 2013 with nhtsa campaign # 13v354000 (including 2006-2010 sonata). However, hyundai customer services can't provide any explanations why 2005 sonata is not included in the two recalls. According to the news online, 'the recall, limited to america's so-called "salt belt" states, is centered around potentially excessive corrosion of the front sub-frame due to winter road salt applications. If unnoticed, the lower control arm may separate from its mount.' 'road salt and water can enter portions of the rear crossmember, leading to corrosion of the crossmember steel. This may lead to detachment of one of the rear control arms. Control arm separation may suddenly change the rear wheel alignment, affecting the handling of the vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash.' it is not safe for me to drive the car, however, currently, i still have to drive the car on highway to work on a daily basis since this is the only car i have.

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata. The contact stated while having a state inspection performed, the inspector informed the contact that the sub-frame was completely rusted. Upon investigation, the contact associated the failure with nhtsa campaign number: 09v124000 (suspension) however, the vin was not included. The manufacturer was informed of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in a recall. The failure mileage was approximately 129,000.

Rust holes through engine cradle or sub frame. This car has only 39,900 miles on it and was well maintained. While getting oil changed the mechanic showed me the problem and told me to contact the hyundai dealer and tell them about it. I called and they told me there was nothing they would do, i had to pay for the repairs.

Front cradle rust out unsafe will not pass inspection. The 2004s were recalled but not the 2005s.

While changing my oil on the weekend, i noticed severe corrosion failures with the front subframe on the right side of my car. (see attached photos). One area was in front of the lower control arm and another area is behind the control arm. It looks like the subframe will fail at any moment and the control arm would be free to move anywhere. Front subframe severe rust throughout the frame

The contact owns a 2005 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that while driving 10 mph, the front driver's side wheel partially separated from the suspension system. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic for diagnosis where it was advised that the sub frame was rusted and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired and manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 135,000.

2005 hyundai sonata front sub-frame failure. The sub frame has rusted through and while driving it broke. This could have caused a terrible accident. Hyundai was sued in a class action lawsuit for model years 1999-2004 in united states district court of california. My model year was not included in this lawsuit. My hyundai sonata 2005 is very unsafe! the whole frame of the car is rotted out. I was driving on the expressway with my children in the car and my tire blew! a nice man drive off from the other side of highway came around to put a spare on. I took the car got a new tire and alignment. Then a few months later my whole sterling wheel is turned to left and car is pulling horribly to right and my right tire is bent in. I took it in to get checked asap. They looked at it and to my utter belief my car is rotted out! unsafe ! i feel this is a real issue for hyundai! there are many drivers out there with the same issue and hyundai is doing nothing to help! you made these vehicles. Now please help us drive safely with our families! so we can go to our jobs and continue raising our families. Please do something soon. I start a new job august 27 2019. Help us please. Thank you. Remember it was your manufacturing that caused this to happen! so please help. ( not sure exactly how long those holes and rotted out frame were lingering) until all this went wrong with tires...

I notice that there is a recall on hyundai sonata's from 2006 -2010 in regards to rust concerns with rear suspension. This was just detected by my mechanic that the attaching point for the control arm has rusted and became separated from the crossmember. The result and my immediate concern was the sudden change in vehicle handling, a loud noise coming from the rear tire when i hit a small bump. I was wondering why the 2005 sonata isn't covered in this recall?

I had taken my 2005 hundai sonata to my local mechanic for a tire alignment, and it is then when i was told that the front subframe was rusted from the inside. There was no indicator of this beforehand, and had it been let be, i could have lost control of the car while driving and been in an accident.

The engine cradle and both rear upper strut mounts are corroded to the point that the car is unsafe to drive and presents a safety hazard to its driver, occupants, and others on the road.it will not pass the annual pennsylvania safety inspection. The mechanic showed me (the owner) at least one large hole in the cradle (silver-dollar sized) as well as long three-finger wide holes in the upper rear strut mounts. (this is similar to a problem that i encountered in 2010 in my hyundai elantra (rear suspension only in that car), reported to the nthsb and subsequently rectified by hyundai usa.) moreover, this is similar to problems cited in robert d'elia v. Hyundai motor company and hyundai motor america and rectified in a subsequent settlement and recall. This concerns a car with 100xxx miles on the odometer. Car was undercoated by dealership at pos. Driven exclusively in a salt-belt state. N.b. - the 2004 hyundai sonata sub-frame is identical to the 2002 - 2004 subframes.

I own a 2005 hyundai sonata gls.while driving down the freeway at 70 mph the car suddenly became hard to control, as in it started pulling extremely hard to the right.i had to drive home with the steering wheel cocked to the left in order to go straight.i brought it into the shop thinking it needed an alignment - both front tires were tilted in at the top - what i found out was that the subframe was rusted in half.it seems very shady to me that there is a recall for this exact problem for pretty much every year except 2005.this is the same model as the 2004 and it was manufactured that year as well.*also, the trim on the car, which is what makes it more expensive, is constantly coming off while i'm driving.the silver trim around the passenger window flew off on the tollway.the driver's window trim came off due to ice - it was replaced by a body shop, but later flew off on the tollway as well.the trim on all four doors is now bolted on as that kept falling off too.*also, there is significant rust right above the top of the windshield to the point that it will soon be raining in my car.

Letter from senator portman on behalf of constituent re 2005 hyundai sonata safety recall. *ldthe consumer stated for several weeks, his daughter noticed some unusual vibrations and noise while driving. An inspection revealed the sub-frame under the front end also called the cradle, was badly corroded to the extent that significant metal in the sub-frame was gone;perhaps more than 50% gone at one location.the consumer was informed a recall had been issued for the very problem. However, it didn't apply to the 2005 model.hyundai refused to cover the repair, stating the model was not covered. The consumer referenced recall # 09v124000.

Apparently, there was no recall for the consumers model year. However, a recall was issued for other years. The consumer referenced recall # 09v124000.

8 june 2015- new tires and brakes installed on car.11 june 2015- upon arrival at home, heard leaking sound from left front tire. Saw valve stem leaking due to wheel cover pressing against stem. Checked right front tire, it also had the cover pressing against the valve stem. Although it was not leaking. Two rear tires were okay. I assumed the mechanic had installed the front covers improperly.12 june 2015- put spare on left front and drove to the garage, had the mechanic who installed the tires check out what happened. He was not sure what caused the problem. He replaced all the valve stems and correctly reinstalled the wheel covers.all seemed well.13 june 2015- wife and daughter departed on trip to maine via interstate highways. On new hampshire interstate they had the left front tire go flat and the right front began leaking at 65mph. Unable to safely pull over, they continued on to a safe area, left front tire and rim destroyed. They called aaa and were towed 91 miles to their destination. The aaa mechanic identified the problem as the wheel cover shifting, on both front wheels, pressing the valve stems over and cutting into them. They are now hoping to find a place which can replace the tire and rim on a weekend. They are supposed to return monday which now looks doubtful. Checking on line, i found this has been a reported problem before. This is a serious problem, they are lucky they did not crash. I do not see where hyundai has ever acknowledged this as a serious problem. Beside the monetary burden this has caused us, we are thankful that this did not turn into a tragedy. I sincerely hope that you can have this situation resolved with hyundai before someone gets injured or killed. For now the wheel covers will remain off.

When the lights are on, the cruise will not work. When the lights are on, the brake lights dont go off.

Very rough accelleration.

Bought 2005 hyuandi on 12/8/04. Experienced vibration on 12/9/05 took car back to dealership in cleveland tennessee, they said nothing was wrong, but they thought that the bolts that hold the motor in car needed to be tightened.took car back 3 days later for the same problem vibration, they said that the bolts needed to be tightened again.took the car back on three other occasions and they continued to tighten the bolts that hold the engine in the car.finally a representative was called in to look at the car he had me to drive the car and told me that it was normal for the car to have a vibration when sitting still and that nothing was wrong with the car.also, he said that the bolts needed to be tightened that hold the engine in.

Takata recallsubframe is rotted.mechanic advised not to drive it as it is very unsafe.car has less than 60,000 miles on it

I will need a safe car i am a dependable, reliable, nanny. So you see i depend i my safe vehicle for all my little loves i'm my car on a daily basis. Stand by your hyundai name and do something good. Help us please. Thank you. Remember it was your manufacturing that caused this to happen! so please help. ( not sure exactly how long those holes and rotted out frame were lingering) until all this went wrong with tires...

I purchased a 2005 hyundai sonata new on 2/18/05 and the dealer, paar hyundai in bremerton. On august 16, 2007, i had my car maintenance at the dealers location in bremerton.they suggested i purchase new tires.i have 46,000+ miles on the car.i had a local tire dealership, les schwab in poulsbo, put new tires on the car.in doing so, three of the small hubcaps were damaged.despite being careful in reinstalling the hubcaps, several of the plastic retainers broke off.les schwab will not pay for the damage, claiming that this often happens with certain hyundai and nissan hubcaps.the hyundai dealer will not pay either and claims they have never had a problem before.this is doubtful.i retained the hubcaps.the plastic tabs that hold the hubcaps are very week, i can easily break them off, and they show signs of wear and tear and fatigue.my concern is that the hubcaps are manufactured using very poor materials and could come loose.even though fairly small, a hub cap flying off a car at 60-70 miles per hour could easily smash a windshield or knock a cyclist off his/her motor cycle.
