8 yr. Long chronic problem with air bag light coming on... Best description we get is a harness issue under passenger front seat... Last episode 12/19/11 dealer advised hyundai no longer has replacements parts for this system... There are thousands of these models still in service how can mfg. Not continue to provide critical safety part... As of this moment the light is off but given the history the dealer said he expects it to be back on soon ...

Airbag light stays on.has been in to dealer and other mechanics several times and has always been blamed on under the seat issues.we have spent several hundred dollars getting connections cleaned and wires reinforced.light on again and now we have been quoted >$2000 to replace airbag assembly front passenger seat (high resistance noted).not sure i trust the diagnosis or believe the solution.am hesitant to invest any more in this issue when they never seem to fix it.would like to have functioning airbags.this seems like a safety issue and something that should not require an expensive repair as the airbags have never deployed and the car is relatively new.i urge an investigation of this issue which seems to have recall merit.

The air bag warning light started out intermittently for about 15 starts it was off and on. Then around 03/11/2004 it came on and stayed on.

Air bag like on

Air bag light. Please help ,i have reported this to you before. My air bags are defected. The dealer suppose to had repaired them at least 7 times. Everything has been replaced except the air bags itself. I can not get my car inspected because of this.somebody is going to die because of the airbags.

My air bag light came on in my car. I took my car to the hyundai dealer at southtowne hyundai in riverdalegeorgia and they didn't call the manufacturer about my car. My car was hit t-bone on the driver's side front head light and the airbags didn't deploy.i asked the dealer several times to call because my airbag light should not come on by itself. The dealer just wanted me to pay over $500.00 to get it repaired.i wanted to know at anytime was the airbag model for my car recalled and hyundai kept it a secret.this is thesecond hyundai i have purchased. I called my car my jaguar.

While driving on i97, a vw cabriolet changed from 2/3 of exit to right to pulling directly in front of me perpendicular.i veer to left, jammed on brakes but hit his driver side door (origin speed 50-55 mph) then continuued into a steel guardrail head on, then pulled out most of the rail and jolted to a stop at an angle above a drop off.my airbags did not deploy.not front or side airbags.we were lucky to walk away with bruises, cuts, and emotional trauma.another family may not be so lucky

Airbag light stay on and dealership claims not a warranty or recall issue. Light is still on and wife and kids are in vehicle. Possible death could occur if airbag fails.

Takata recall. Air bag light will not go off. I am told that in order to correct the problem, it will cost nearly 2300 dollars since the passenger seat must be replaced

I was driving my 2004 hyundai sonata and air bag light suddenly went on then off. Then it went back on a few minutes later and has been on for 2 years now.

I entered my car and started up the ignition and the airbag light went on. My car is a 2004 hyundai sonata. I took my car to a mechanic and he useda diagnostic tool in an attempt to locate the problem. The tool reported that there was no problem, however, the airbag light was still on. I took my car to the local hyundai repair department and was told the ppd sensor was bad. My car has 53, 965 miles on it. I was charged $375 to replace the ppd sensor.when i went online to read about the sensor, i learned it is a common problem in the sonata and elantra models manufactured by hyundai motor co.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata.when the ignition was turned on, the air bag warning light would illuminate on the instrument panel.the light remained illuminated until the engine was turned off.the vehicle was taken to the authorized dealer and they stated that the failure was related to a malfunction with the sensor device.the vehicle was repaired.the vehicle was taken to the dealer five times for the same failure, but no remedy was found.the failuremileage was 55,000 and current mileage was 80,000.

All of sudden the air bag icon is continuously on.all fuses for air bags have been changed and problem still exist.the company states that they have not heard about this problem and there is no recall.but reading internet blogs there appears that this problem does occur on this model when it reaches the 100,000 mile limit.what is my recourse to have them correct this problem without financial problem.thanks

There is something really wrong with the air bags with the 2004 hyundai sonata. If you read the complaints, i had the most problems. What is it going to take for a recall., for someone to lose their life. Do the right thing becausepeople lives depend on you.

Takata recall.my air bag light is on and can't be cleared.

The contact owned a 2004 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that another vehicle crashed into the front passenger side of his vehicle at an unknown speed. The air bags did not deploy. A police report was filed and there were no injuries. The vehicle was destroyed and towed to any time towing lot in lewiston, maine. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 160,000.

Air bag light stays on when driving car. Called dealership and they told me it is not under warranty because its over five years old and has 53,704, is this not a safety issue? and covered by law?

10-01-2016 air bag light came on,while stationary and stayed on while driving.

We own a 2004 hyundai sonata (109,000 miles) we had a front end collision with significant damage. Me and my wife suffered minor injuries and the airbags did not deploy. We found out on the internet that there are frequent complaints if this failure around the nation and also in many hyundai models across multiple years. We are filing the complaint since the error is critical and seems to be systemic in hyundai vehicles. We do not know if nhtsa handles cars that are over 100,000 miles but we felt a complaint was warranted since the consequence of the error is so extreme. We fear for our safety with this vehicle now! being a disabled veteran, on a fixed income, we find it difficult to accept that hyundai takes no responsibility for this problem. Its not easy for us to replace the car.

The air bag light suddenly came on, and has stayed on. Looked online and found many similar complaints. There has already been an air bagrecall for the 2003 sonata. We (along with many others) are hoping that one will be issued for the 2004 model, as well.thanks!

Consumer applied the brakes, and the pedal went to the floor while traveling 40 mph. Consumer's vehiclerear ended another vehicle.upon impact, air bags did not deploy driver's seat belt became unattached in the collision.the driver sustained injuries and went to the hospital by car.the vehicle was towed and totaled out by the insurance company.please fill in additional information.

My wife somehow got her foot caught in her sandal and trying to get it unstuck hit a concrete light pole. The airbag shot white powder out ,light went on to show air bag went off but it never deployed. Had it been a worse accident fatal injury could have occurred because of faulty airbag not deploying yet showing it did by all symptoms such as the light, white powder and the seat belt cannot be moved and will not operate. This is a safety issue no matter if under warranty or not.

I have an issue with the air bag light being on and a coworker had the same issue with hers. With the light being on it prevents me from getting an inspection sticker in my state. This has been an ongoing issue for the last several years and there has been recalls on newer sonatas. Please look into this.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata.while driving approximately 10 mph, another vehicle crashed into the driver's side of the contact's vehicle.the driver's side doors were completely smashed in and the frame was bent.the air bags failed to deploy.the driver of the vehicle sustained major injuries to her left shoulder.the passengers in the other vehicle were uninjured.a police report was filed.the manufacturer stated that the air bags operated in the manner they were designed; therefore, they were not liable for the repairs.the dealer has not been notified.the vehicle was destroyed.the current and failure mileages were 65,000.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata.while driving at an unknown speed, the air bag light illuminated on the instrument panel.the vehicle was taken to the dealer and they stated that the air bag needed to be replaced.the vehicle has been diagnosed several different times; however, the failure is still occurring.the current mileage was 42,000 and failure mileage was 40,000.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that the driver side air bag light illuminated while the seat was occupied. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

I was involved in a chain reaction collision on i-10 interstate.my vehicle re-ended another vehicle and neither the driver's nor the passenger's air bags deployed.front end damaged and insurance has totaled my car.brakes did not seem to stop with sufficient force.

The air bag light came on and will not go out.afraid to call dealer since repair could cost close to $500.00.

Dt: the contact's vehiclewas involved in a crash.upon impact, front and side air bags did not deploy. Also, theseat beltsdid not restrainthe contactand her passenger in the seats.the contactwas thrown into the steering wheel, and the passenger hit the windshield. Both sustained serious injuries and broken bones.a police reportwas taken, and an insurance report wasfiled. Pictures are available for review. The vehicle was repaired.updated 2/21/2006 -

The air bags warning light has gone on and is always on at just 117,780 miles.the dealershiphas informed me that when the light is on this has disabled all my car airbags.i was driving on the freeway at 70 mph when i first noticed the red air bag light.i asked my passenger to read about this in my user manual while driving.

My foot slide off the break, and hit my van in the back bumper in my driveway and two weeks later my air bag light came on and never went off. At my home, no reports, or damage other them cut on my bumper due to the haul on the van.

Airbag light stays on.an internet search indicates that this is a chronic problem with 2014 sonatas, but hyundai has failed to issue a recall.there is, however, a recall for the 2013 sonatas.don't understand why there is not a recall.i purchased my car early in 2004 year.many parts are carryovers from the previous year.

Air bag light illuminated, called the dealer to ask about a recall they said none were issued, howeverit needed to get looked at because there could be a defect. And the possibility that the air bags could deploy on their own at any timeor not deploy at all in an accident. The cost to have this problem looked at would be around $125.00 which would be subtracted from thecost of the repair if you chose to get it fixed by the dealer the total cost could run at least $500.00 i was wondering if there has beenany other complaints regarding this problem.

Was in a car accident on december 04 2011. I had significant front end damage to my vehicle due to someone running a stop sign. However, my airbags did not deployon front!! only onthe driver side and was not full open , very concern on safety!

Was in a car accident on june 21, 2009.i had significant front end damage to my vehicle due to someone running a stop sign. However, my airbags did not deploy on the passenger or driver side.

My air bag light came on when i was driving, the light will not go off, until i turn the car off.

The 'airbag on' sign has been on for a while. I understand that it is a safety issue and i tried to alert the manufacturer. They do not want to take the responsibility since the recent recall excludes cars manufactured in 2004, and the car is out of its warranty period as well.i put an internet search and there are numerous complains on hyundai sonata airbag issues.

I was going about 35 miles per hour and rear ended a another vehicle and my drivers air bag did not deploy.i was not hurt, but my daughter in the back seat was.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving 35 mph, the vehicle was involved in a crash and the air bags did not deploy.the vehicle was struck broad sided on the passenger side between both doors.both passengers of the vehicle were wearing seat belts and received only minor injuries.the vehicle was able to be driven away from the scene.the police were at the scene of the accident and provided a written report; however, the vehicle has not been inspected by the insurance company.updated 5/2/2006-

2004 hyundai sonata was involved in a severe side impact, struck by a dodge durango.impact was centered on the drivers side door and resulted in an approximyate 1 foot of intrusion.max crush occurred just forward of the b-pillar.b-pillar was pushed into the seat and the leading edge of the door was pushed into the steering wheel.the head/thorax bag located in the drivers seat did not deploy.nhtsa should inspect this to see why the side air bags did not deploy.this appears to be the type of impact in which the side air bags were designed for.driver sustained numerous fractures to the pelvic region, a lacerated spleen that resulted in 2 surgeries and almost 2 months of hospitalization, most of it in intensive care as a result of the accident.

Drove car 3 miles from point a to point b.it was parked at point b for approx 45 minutes.then driven 300ft to point c.when i got out of the car, i smelled something unusual but i thought it was the auto shop next door.when i went into the store, an employee looked through the glass window and shouted "someone's car is on fire."i looked and saw it was my vehicle.there was smoke coming out of the hood.the car no longer starts.i will write again to update on diagnosis from hyundai.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that the driver side air bag light illuminated while the seat was occupied. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 110,000.

I called hyundai regarding the brake lamp recall issue in my car. I have the same issue of my brake lamps. When you depress the brakes the lamps are always illuminated it only goes off when the car is turned off. This causes several people to mistake if i am braking or not. I have read several peoples complaints on the recall website, and all of us are told that " the recall has not affected your car" after giving them the vin. Well i say it is. I have the very problem spoke of in the recall. Second the recall does not say the car must also be unable to come out of park. There are three separate issues. I want this car looked athow can several cars in different states have the same problem, with the same year car????

The horn started sounding for no reason in our driveway. The hyundai dealership confirmed that the horn switch in the drivers side airbag assembly is broken and in the closed position. The part cost is a ridiculous $1,000.00. All airbag assemblies in all the local wrecking yards also have broken horn switches. How can this be allowed? the horn is a very necessary safety device that should last the entire life of a vehicle. Why hasn't a recall notice been issued for this condition?[xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Sub frame on front passenger rusted and corroded.caused damange to cv axle on same side.caused alignment issues on front end.causes tires to wear quickly, within a week.anti theft system locks the car while driving and causes alarm to sound while driving and must open other doors and stop drivingto stop the alarm from going off, headlights and dash lights and tail lights come on when brake is pressed and go off when brake is released but this problem only happens when headlights are not in use

The ac/heating electric [fan] controlcomes on when it wants to but will not activate when turned on.when taken to a mechanic on 3 occasions, it activates and remains on for days then stops and will not come on again. Mechanics do not want to work on it unless it does not work at all.everyone wants to "investigate" and charge me accordingly but no one wants to tell me the actual problem. This had been going on for many months on my car, as well as other hyundai models.the unresolved situation remains dangerous because of window fogging and lack of air flow through the vent system in the front and rear. Last wintera partially fogged window, while the fan was running, contributed to an accident during a very heavy rain storm.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that the headlights failed to illuminate. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, who replaced both the driver and the passenger bulbs on four occasions, but the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was not available.updated 04/08/15*lj

Leaking valve cover is allowing oil to leak down onto the alternator. Car can be stationary or running. Most notable when car engine is running. Oil leaking onto alternator can cause alternator to short. Alternator failed and car battery could not charge battery. Car died while my wife was driving and she had to pull quickly off to the side of the road.

Emergency flashers on my 2004 hyundai sonata began flashing for no apparent reason and could not be turned off (ignition was off), this continued for 15-30 minutes from the time it was noticed (neighbors knocked at the door to report that the flashers had been left on).the occurrence repeated several times throughout the night and the next day.accessing the vehicle using the keyless entry, the doors re-locked themselves, and this repeated each time i unlocked them.the flashers stopped when the door was open or the car was turned on, but when the door was opened there was a clicking noise in the dash (at the same rate as the flashers had been flashing).we took it to the dealer for repair and they said it is the emergency flasher 4-way switch (part #937903c000) -- which is on national back-order for one month!this part is apparently not covered on the gold plus protection plan!

Suspension failure july 2016-both engine mounts and lower control arms failed. Replaced 2016 july. April 2017 both engine mounts and lower control arms failed again. In addition violent jerking while driving, then loss of power. Usually occurred going up hills, coming off from making a turn or driving speeds under 25mph.brake lights remain on unable to indicate stopping to other cars.unable to safely drive and maneuver the vehicle. Brake lights remain on whether driving or in park. Jerking does not occur when putting vehicle in gear, but while driving speed decreases rapidly and car becomes difficult to steer. Suspension feels lose in addition there are noises as if bolts are broken. Per a recall search campaign 089 is open meaning under body isn't coated. Upon further reading of the campaign suspension failure can occur and other issues. Unsure if all related, but the brake lights, and jerking occurred the same time as suspension failed, which was previously replaced.huge safety issues for the driver and other motorists around, especially when jerking occurs. It should be noted, per an internet search these issues are known issues with this make model and year. All issues seen online happen with cars at or around the 130,000 mile mark.

Battery, the battery was replace in12/05/05, then again in 10/05/06, on 7/31/08 the battery this time die with no warning, in the middle of the very busy intersection.both time the battery was replace by rick case hyundai, stated bad battery.

I entered my vin number on the has buddy app and it says that i have a recall for suspension but called a dealer and they said that it doesn't. Something is wrong with the wiring too because my doors lock at random times my seat goes forward and back randomly my speakers don't work. When i hit a bump jt feels like my tires are gonna fall off

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata.the wires under the hood were melting in the climate control assembly.this is the second time that the climate control assembly has been replaced.as a result, the insulation is melting from the wires and causing them to become bare.the current mileage was 136,000 and failure mileage was 98,000.

The car started losing speed and stalled a couple of times. The camshaft sensor and crankshaft sensors were replaced. The problem happened 6 months later.

The right side of the engine cradle broke (due to corrosion); the result of this broke the right front half axle, and detroyed right front tire.

Backing into the garage, my foot on brake, the engine suddenly revved to high rpm, the car shot backwards, propelling a heavy rubber mat on which the car is normally parked out of the garage and into the driveway.the vehicle then impacted and crashed through the rear garage wall before coming to a stop.i managed to pry the gear lever out of reverse, hit drive instead and sent the car, wheels still spinning and laying down rubber, forward out of the garage.on its way out the car swiped along the right side the garage door post before finally coming to a stop in the driveway.final result, serious damage to both the car and the garage.fortunately this did not occur in traffic or with pedestrians in the area.on-line research has since shown me that there have been numerous other similar incidents where hyundai sonatas have suddenly accelerated on their own.see http://www.carproblemzoo.com/hyundai/sonata/car-accelerates-on-its-own-problems.php.

Took car to mechanic for fuel pump work. He informed us that the engine cradle is rusted beyond repair and is un-safe to drive. I found the recall online and called hyundai. They informed me that remediation had been done in 2009. (a new hole for drainage had been drilled in the engine cradle frame and a sealant applied). Evidently this did not stop the corrosion of the frame and caused a weakening of the frame and a crack in the structural area of the frame. Is hyundai liable to repair this defect?i can supply pictures of the defect and crack in frame if necessary.

While driving my 2004 hyundai sonata at low speed, the engine suddenly died. This caused me to lose power steering and power brakes. Fortunately there was space for me to pull to the curb and no one was behind me. After an hour or so of trying the car started up and i drove it home. Three days later it happened again on a busy street at about 10 mph. Again i was fortunate and could pull to the curb. This time i could not start it and had it towed to a local repair shop. They diagnosed it as a "defective evap. Solenoid that was causing engine flooding."this was a very scary occurrence--if it happened on a highway it would be very difficult to steer (due to loss of power steering) and my sudden slowing could cause rear-end crash.the old part is not available.

2004 hyundai sonata gls dies randomly when stopped at a red light or turning at a low rate of speed, then starts right up and may not do it again for a month or a few days. Check engine light does not come on and vehicle runs great besides dying in traffic which could cause a crash.

2004 hyndai sonata stalls on highway.

Dt:the contact experienced problemswith starting thevehicle on two occasions. When it occurred the first time he attempted three times before the engine turned over. The second time the key remained in the ignition for four minutes before the vehicle would start. Also, the dealerstated the problemwas intermittent, and only occurred once. Because the dealer was unable to duplicate the problem no repairs were done.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. The vehicle had water damaged due to a defective air conditioning hose sealant that allowed water to penetrate which caused mildew to form on the interior of the vehicle. The dealer stated that the instrumental panel will need to be removed in order to replace the damaged wiring and sealant. The contact stated that a year ago water penetrated the interior of the vehicle due to the sealant around the brake lights. The vin information wasn't available. Themanufacturer will be contacted. The failure mileage was 39,000 and the current mileage was 69,000.

After filling the gas tank full, found fuel leaking from the tank onto the ground. Removed the tank from the car and found 13 rust holes on the top and side of the fuel tank. Holes were found beneath areas of sealant that had separated from the tank surface.

2004 hyundai sonata had complete fuel system replaced.*mrthe consumer could hear load moaning and rumbling noises like pressure building up in thegas tank.the dealer replaced the fuel pump twice but the problem recurred.

I have a 2004 hyundai sonata v6 that gives me problems when i fill the gas tank up.i know that this might sound crazy but, when i go to start the car, it will not turn over.i recently had a major tune-up done on the vehicle along with changing the timing belt.when i fill up my car, i have to include an additive such as gas treatment, lucas gas treatment, fuel cleaner, etc.i had my mechanic look at the vehicle four times and he has found nothing wrong with the vehicle.i ask for assistance to diagnose the problem and would you recommend bringingthe car to a dealer.please help!thank you. The system would not allow me to enter my vin number.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. While adding fuel tothe vehicle the contact noticed there was a small valve on the outside of the fuel tube that fractured and possibly had fallen into the fuel tank. The contact smelled a strong fuel odor emitting in the interior of the vehicle after it was started. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and informed the contact that the vehicle was not covered under the warranty; therefore, he would be responsible for the diagnostic cost. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 47,000.

While parked fuel fumes escaped from thevehicle. Tank and seals where replaced problem still occured. *tc

Split fuel tank on the side, 2nd fuel tank to fail in the last 5 years. Hyundai claims there is no problems with fuel tanks, but google the sonata fuel tanks and there is a ton of complaints. Hyundai will do nothing about it. No recall, no nothing. House and garage has severe gas smell and a large puddle of gas on the floor.

Fuel system cannot fuel vehicle properly due to poor vent recovery equipment.... None of it is replaceable as replacementparts are nolonger available...

Chrome is peeling off the interior door handles causing cuts to hands/fingers on my 2004 hyundai sonata.

Emergency flashers began flashing for no apparent reason and would not be turned off.then trying to use the keyless entry door opener, the locks began locking and unlocking.when the car was running this stopped.we took it to the dealer and they replaced the etac module, then the entire fuse box.after returning home, the hazard lights again began flashing while the car was parked.this would stop and begin again intermittently.returned to the dealer and left the car for several days.finally a switch was replaced and the problem ceased.

On my 2004 hyundai sonata, the chrome door handle has been peeling away since 2007, resulting in a sharp, jagged edge that i have cut my hand on numerous times. I notice that there is already a recall order for the 2003 sonatas for this same issue under action #pe08071, but it appears that the 2004 model is doing the same thing, and i would like for that model to be added to this recall as well.

I have a 2004 hyundai sonata - same problem as with the 2002-2003 listed below - this should not have been closed.recall campaign 09v171000 has 1 related investigation(s)nhtsa action number: pe08071vehicle make / model:model year(s):hyundai / sonata2002manufacturer:hyundai motor companycomponent:latches/locks/linkages:doors:latchdate investigation opened:december 15, 2008date investigation closed:may 29, 2009 summary:the manufacturer has issued a safety recall notification as a result of this investigation. The recall affects 91,202 my 2002-2003 subject vehicles produced from january 28, 2002, through march 22, 2003. The vehicle recall population was defined by the manufacturer's use of a new supplier for the chrome plating process beginning in january 2002, and a production change in march 2003 to improve adhesion of the plating to the door handle. Vehicles being recalled represent 59 percent of the total my 2002-2003 production, but account for 91 percent of the consumer complaints received. The process change for my 2002 vehicles resulted in a dramatic increase in complaints (1200 percent on a per unit rate basis). My 2003 vehicles built after march 2003 production change showed a similar decline in the complaint rate. Based on the manufacturer's action, this investigation has been closed.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that the chrome handle on the rear passenger door peeled and caused the contact to cut his hand. The vehicle was taken to the dealer who stated his vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign id number: 09v171000 ( latches/locks/linkages: doors: latch). The manufacturer was contacted confirmed that the vehicle was not under recall and offered no other assistance. The failure mileage was 73,500.

2004 hyundai sonata - the interior handles have developed very sharp edges which we did not notice until i sliced my middle finger open yesterday while trying to open the door.upon closer inspection, both front door handles have razor-sharp edges in places.i have not yet had the opportunity to contact hyundai.

Inside door handlesthin covering (appears to be aluminum) is peeling apart and i have cut my hand on the sharp edge which came apart.dealer will not replace the handle because hyundai has not recalled the 2004 models which has the ***same problem**as the 2003 model.

2004 hyundai sonata. Built iin february 2004, the chrome platingof the interior door handle came loose.our hands have been cut several times by the sharp edges of the chrome that is peeling back.finally had to peel the chrome off and sand the edges.

2004 hyundai sonata - interior door handle caused hand laceration by peeling chrome plating /crack in door handle assembly.

The chrome plating on the passenger side door handle as worn to the point where it has cracked and left a sharp edge on my 2004 hyundai sonata.this caused a recall of 2002-2003 hyundai sonatas 09v-171.

Seems to be a defect in the door handles...we have flaking of the chrome finish on our 2004 sonata as well, primarily driver's door.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata.in february 2009, the top edge of the interior door handle developed cracks. As a consequence she injured herself while opening the door. She took the vehicle to the dealership to be inspected and was told that the part for the repair would cost $70.00. The vehicle had not been repaired to-date. Her model year was excluded from recall#09v171000 & 09v317000 (latches/locks/linkages:doors:latch).the current mileage was approximately 36,000. The failure mileage was approximately 34,000.

The car was parked in a residential parking area. It had been backed into the space.after starting the car and putting the transmission in drive, the car accelerated uncontrollably.this occurred so quickly the driver was unable to control the vehicle.brakes did not stop the vehicle.it appeared that the accelerator was stuck.the vehicle hit a car in the next row of cars.because of rain, the car then skidded 180 degrees and struck two cars in the same line of cars from which it had departed.only at this time by turning getting the car out of gear and turning the key could the car be stopped.the driver believes this was the result of either a the accelerator sticking on its own or a thick rubber winter mat slid up and jammed the accelerator.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. When the vehicle was shifted into drive, it accelerated on its own. The contact had to tap the accelerator pedal a few times or shift into park for the vehicle to operate normally. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 215,000.

I operate a 2004 hyundai sonata. It equipped with shiftronic feature, where you able to overdrive a regular automatic transmission by manually switching to desired gear. However, it has own logic not to allow you to switch to inappropriate gear leading to overstress and/or damage engine or transmission. While driving on slippery road i used above mentioned feature to slow down a car when approaching an intersection (so-called engine brake).at same time i used regular brakes too since engine brake is not so effective and it can't stop the car completely. My car has also no anti blocking system (abs) installed.***at the moment, when road was too slippery, front wheels were blocked for short period. I eased pedal like it's normally required for cars not equipped with abs, but transmission logic assumed that car is stopped completely and switched to the first gear at speed around 40 km/h (25 mph) which led the front wheels to block permanently and due to that i lost control of the car.***fortunately, there was nobody around and i only ended up on the road's right shoulder.i repeated this situation in unpopulated area and it happened again and again.(the shiftronic's logic is switching transmission to the first gear automatically after car is stopped to avoid the engine stall when you start moving again)i think, there should be some sort of reader at rear wheels to detect that car is still moving or abs system to be present as standard, not as optional feature. Or, maybe, transmission's behavior should be updated.

Hyundai sonata, 5 speed, 2005, 4 cylinder, 47,500 miles, approximately 4 years old. There was a lot of play in the clutch, but it still engaged. Once engaged however, the vehicle was slow to build up speed. Took it to key hyundai, the dealer where it was purchased. Was immediately told that their 5 year, 60,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty would not be in effect because this was due to normal wear-and-tear. They never dropped the transmission to look at the internals. They gave me the choice of $1,100 for repairs, and $2,500 if a new flywheel was needed. Since it wasn't covered by a warranty, i took it to my mechanic. He dropped the transmission and noted that the flywheel came loose from the shaft it was attached to and caused wear to the clutch assembly housing. The flywheel and other parts would have to be replaced. The flywheel alone will cost $1050, and the entire job about $2300. No after market flywheels are available for this vehicle. Hyundai should have honored their warranty. I spoke with several people at key hyundai plus hyundai usa customer service. Key said that it was not going to be warranted and customer service would only refer me back to the dealership. No one could give me information about an average life for the clutch.

I purchased my car in january of 2005 (it's a 2004 model, purchased new).i've been driving a standard shift for 8 years.starting in mid july, i began to experience problems accelerating.taking it in to the shop, i was informed the clutch had "burned out", and would need to be completely replaced.i was also informed that i "rode the clutch" which caused the failure.as my previous car, also a hyundai, had gone for more than 50,000 miles over the 6 years i owned it and never had a clutch problem, i am suspicious of this particular reason for my clutch failure.

My 2004 hyundai sonata has been having clutch and flywheel problems starting at less than 10,000 miles.it is now at 40,000 miles and it's getting worse.i've had mechanics (not biased hyundai personal) tell me that the fly wheel is most likely warped, causing the clutch to shimmy and slip under load (up hills with passengers, etc).i had the dealer look at it and they said it was "fine".i'm thinking about taking it to another dealership.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata.the contact stated that at 40,000 miles, the vehicle's clutch failed to engage when switching between first and third gear.the failure caused the vehicle to only use fourth gear.the vehicle was towed to the dealer who stated that a new clutch assembly was needed.the dealer also stated that the fly wheel had overheated and should be replaced.at 60,000 miles, the failure was duplicated.the dealer stated that the failure recurred because the fly wheel was not replaced.the vehicle was inspected by another dealer who stated that the vehicle's type of fly wheel was designed for a truck, not a sedan.more specifically, the disc in the fly wheel was moving up and down instead of spinning.the fly wheel was damaging the engine housing which caused the clutch assembly to fail.the engine size was unknown.the current mileage is 66,000 and failure mileage was 40,000.the consumer provided copies of the repair invoices for the vehicle.

Incident: 2004 hyundai sonata lx left rear seat foldable seat back release button does not snap back after being pressed for folding down the seat back. Thus, when seat back is folded into the upright position again, lock does not snap and engage, leaving the seat back loose. In case of breaking or front crash seat back most certainly will fold down.

I was involved in a chain reaction collision on i-10 interstate.my vehicle re-ended another vehicle and neither the driver's nor the passenger's air bags deployed.front end damaged and insurance has totaled my car.brakes did not seem to stop with sufficient force.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that while driving 5 mph, the brake pedal was depressed to the floor but the brakes failed. The vehicle stopped when the emergency brake was applied. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic. The technician diagnosed that the hydraulic rear brake line and rear cylinders were corroded. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 95,000. The vin was not available.

Every once in awhile when i press the brake it seems to accelerate for a second before braking. I have double checked and i am not pressing the gas on accident. It has happened right after i start driving (so going under 25 mph) on side streets in town. I am unsure of the exact dates this has happened.

Disc brake pad separation resulted in severe rotor wear and loss of brakes on all four wheels.low mileage on vehicle, 19k, original brake pads.replaced rotors and brake pads, old parts available.

Near accident report due to a possible brake lock up of the 2004 hyundai sonata.*mr when the consumer attempted to change lanes, the vehicle swerved to the right, made a 360 degree turn and skidded to a stop on a grassy shoulder.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. As the contact approached a traffic light, he noticed that the brake pedal extended to the floorboard when depressed; he had to use the emergency brake to stop. The brakes squeaked and made a noise as if pressure had left the brakes. The vehicle had not been inspected or repaired. The manufacturer had not been notified. The failure mileage was approximately 62,000.

Consumer applied the brakes, and the pedal went to the floor while traveling 40 mph. My vehicle was involved in an accident in december 2004, while driving my 2004 hyundai sonota. Traffice was heavy and a driver, 3 cars ahead, slammed on her brakes as all those behind her did. I had ample time to stop but the anti-lock brakes repeatedly kept turning. My car continued to hit the driver in front of me and my car attempted to climb on the back of the other car. The repetitive hitting of the car in front of me caused extensive damage to my car. The brakes of been checked three times, the light continues to come on at intermittent times, yet the dealership continues to inform me that their is nothing on the diagnostic machine. The brakes continue to act up on dry surfaces still. I am afraid to drive my car but cannot seem to convince the hyundai dealership that there is an issues with the brakes grabbind and continue to rotate. The impact, from the repetitive hitting of the car in front of me caused it to be totaled. My car, even after extensive frame damage and shifting of the entire motor carriage, was not totalled. It should be also noted that when the insurance carrier had the car delivered to the dealership for motor replacement that they were not advised of brake problems. I was sent to hospital for a checkup as the repetitive hitting caused the seatbelt to cause numbness in my left arm and neck. I was treated and released with a prescription for muscle relaxers for a few days.

Dt*:the contact stated while driving a popping noise can be heard while applying the brakes.the vehicle was taken to an independent repair shop and it was found that all four rotors needed to be replaced. The manufacturer has been alerted.

Takata recall my steering get tight while i'm driving which makes it hard to turn while on the highways

The right side of the engine cradle broke (due to corrosion); the result of this broke the right front half axle, and detroyed right front tire.

Severe corrosion on front subframe. It is a recall but no feedback from hyundai. Salt belt corrosion (lawsuit) again no feedback. Extremely dangerous , could result in injury

The 2004 hyundai sonata has a recall for the front sub frame rusting to the point where the front suspension mount rust to the extent that the lower control arm separates from it's mounting bracket which can cause loss of control and possible accident. There is a recall for this for cars that were sold or registered in the salt belt states. Every state in my area are listed except my state of virginia. My cars sub frame completely rusted through to where the lower control arm separated from it's brackets while moving entering an exit onto a major highway i95 causing severe damage which isn't covered. The recallis 09v124000. I believe virginia should be added to this recall due to it being in the same area as the other states with the same weather pattern.

I have a 04 hyundai sonata which was recalled for the subframe rot and the dealership says it doesnt come up with my vin but iv had to replace 2 tired and a tie rod and the sub frame is getting worse causing more damage my car pulls bangs and one day my whole suspension will detach and how is it not under the recall i have a house and two children and can not afford a new car so please help me understand

When i drive in the rain and go through standing water the steering column freezes making it virtually impossible to move.

Front sub framerusted. Crack in the sub frame near the right front wheel. Car has 70,000 miles on it. Danger of subframe breaking and control arm disconnect.

I was driving at 35 mph on himilaya &came to a slight curve in the road when all of a sudden my car pulled hard to the left almost hitting the car in the left lane next to me, it dropped to the ground and i heard a very loud scraping noise.i got out of the vehicle to find the front passenger side tire completely detached from the lower control arm & the bolt & pin meant to keep the lower control arm from detaching was gone. There is extensive damage to the wheel well, front right panel of the vehicle, fluid is leaking & the car is no longer operational/capable of driving. My vehicle was manufactured in maryland which is one of the states included in recall #09v124000.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. While driving unknown speeds, the steering was unstable and the vehicle shook. The check engine indicator illuminated. The failure mileage was 188,000.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. While the vehicle was undergoing routine maintenance due to steeringissues and front end noise an independent mechanic diagnosed that there was extensive rust and corrosion concerning the front cradle framenear the front passenger side tire and near the concentrix brake adjustment for both rear tires pertaining to the subframe. The independent mechanic advised the contact to contact the local dealerforthe manufacturer for a recommendation.dealer recommends the entire cradle be replaced as it will not last much longer and can be dangerous to drive as it is almost rusted through and the rear brakes cannot be adjusted due to rust. There is a recall 09v124000 for this for cars from the rustbelt states but i am in tn and it is not covered. I am in the mountains of north east tn and it should be covered as we also get snow and they salt the roads. This car is dangerous to drive in its present condition and hyundai needs to have this fixed as obviously from the complaints there is lots of this. Mfg in sept of 2003 so it is within the time frame

Interior door handle chrome peeling off causing sharp metal that can cut fingers or hands.

The internal floor on driver side showsobvious erosion from normal salt exposure in the winter.dealer ignored my complaint of the erosion when i went to address another recall regarding salt erosion. Me and a family member received cuts on the finger from peeling covering on interior door handle.paint near exterior handles scratches easily and eventually reveals the color of the second layer of paint which is a drasticallydifferent color from the car's exterior paint color.

Chipping paint on door handles especially on the ones that are less used.paint not matching when repairs are done.

Recall on 2004 hyundai.i called 5 dealers to have them inspect my car, due to the recall i received about possible frame rusting. The wait is any where from 10 days to a month, just to have them look at the frame. I explained that my car is showing the signs of damaged rusted frame. I requested that they either. Pay for my room or pay for my car rental.

Paint is falling off around the exterior door handles. Passenger side door is rarely used and this is the worst side of it. Vehicles are supposed to receive multiple coats of paint at time of manufacture it appears that this is not the case with many of the 2004 sonata models, i have noticed many of the same model cars around town with peeling paint around the door handles. This vehicle has barely over 100k miles.

Worn rear tires prompted purchase of new tires. Tire technicians noted that the frame was cracked and that the vehice is unsafe to drive. Both rear tires are in jeopardy but the rear passenger side is by far the worse.vehicle had been making odd noises especially when turning and some vibration at spweds over 40mph. Fortunately the the tires didn't fall off while in motion.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. While driving 10 mph, subframe fractured. The failure caused the front axle to fracture and separate from the vehicle. The front axle was cut away from the subframe to have the vehicle towed. The vehicle was towed to the dealer to be diagnosed, but was not repaired. The vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 09v124000 (suspension). The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 164,000.

Front lower control arm broke due to rust while being driven. Pulled off the road and called tow truck. Operator told me to look up sonata recalls because it looked like one. It was recall # 09v124000. Called local dealership 6 times in two days always going to answering machine. Third day drove to dealership. They told me to bring it in and they would look at it. Tow guy said every time it it was moved more damage would be done. He didn't want the responsibility. Dealership wouldn't pick it up. Tow guy called another dealership and he brought it there (8/20/16) five days after the breakdown. After 5 days second dealership said it was a recall item and said to call hyundai america. Began discussions with hyundai america- many calls- and after over 60 days they decided it was between the dealership and some other department of hyundai america and they couldn't do anything. Dealership gave me another # to call but that # had no knowledge of my case. The expense of being without the car has been quite draining. Case # with hyundai america is 9566309. I would like the car completely repaired but can't get anyone to do anything. Thanks

Severe rust affecting undercarriage.vehicle was part of recall for sub frame assembly and had to have entire engine cradle replaced.remaining sections of undercarriage not included in recall, fuel lines, brake lines, suspension are also severely corroded as well as large portions of the passenger rear side body panels.brake lines in rear portion of vehicle corroded so badly they failed and had to be replaced.top portion of fuel pump located in top of gas tank also severely corroded.

The vehicle was taken to reliable hyundai (438 s ingram mill rd, springfield, mo 65802) where they informed the contact the vehicle was too old and unable to be repaired. The front tires were replaced; however, the subframe remained rusted. The tires needed to be replaced four times. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that the vin was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 09v124000 (suspension). The approximate failure mileage was 207,000.

Interior chrome door handle crack, causing the chrome plating to separate.after separation the handle becomes extremely sharp and cut my hand.

The chrome on the inside door handles are cracking & peeling. I have cut my finger twice now on the sharp edges. Also, the paint is coming off the molding around the outside door handle on the rear driver side.

Seems to be a defect in the door handles...we have flaking of the chrome finish on our 2004 sonata as well, primarily driver's door.

Re: hyundai '04 sonata - bought new at key hyundai branford ct received recall notice re rusting subframes.issues i've had over last 12 months: steering wheel pulling to one side - alignment way off - fixed, problem recurred.intermittent noises coming from ?wheelssteering column, esp.when turning corners - seems to be two separate distinct noises.recently steering wh. With rhythmic shimmy, intermittent.took car into key h.for inspection - told it needs new subframe (6 hr.job) but no alignment will be done, no loaner or rental would be given.called hyundai cust. Center.told that an alignment, rental "..wasn't part of the deal"they put the onus on nhtsa - says you didn't tell them they had to do any more than replace the s.f.my regular mechanic says that it is worrisome that no alignment will be done."how can they do all that front end work and not realign the wheels?"regarding a replacement vehicle for the day, considering the subfr. Has turned out to be major 'lemon', you'd think as a gesture of good will, hyundai would pay another $25 - 30 for a rental. Their cust. Assis. Centre is a joke.the girl handling calls knows nothing about mechanics, has no authority and just keeps saying she's sorry but this is nhtsa's deal, not hyundai. Another issue- with the s.f. Recall notice, i received a 2nd noticere: chrome handles peeling on inside door.mine peeled the first year i had the car - abrasion to my finger.i taped the handle and didn't complain.the service manager last week told me recall goes to '03 models (why did i get the notice?) and says i can pay $90 for chrome replacement.and by the way, also handed me $2500 worth of other work i need - i don't, according to my mechanic.guess h. Trying to recoup money some way, since they have to replace the s.f.free.bottom line: this is my 2nd h. And my last-lost faith& worried that they will not do proper job on recall work.will pay for rental and alignment myself.any suggestions?

When having my car aligned, a technician showed me that the right front subframe is rusted through. Supposedly hyundai fixed this 5 years ago, with one of two fixes: either replacement or drilling drainage holes and apply a rust protector. One can see a hole drilled on the left subframe but not the right side. Besides my car, one has to ask: did hyundai really do anything to fix this situation or did they act like they did? a car rusting through the frame in five years is unheard of, and i fear others might have this same problem. Hyundai does not want to talk to me.

I took my 2004 sonata for inspection and was told that it would not pass due to a large hole from corrosion in front passenger subframe near control arm bolt costing $1200 to fix. After finding out that this was recalled and i was never notified, i contacted hyundai and was told that my car was covered (i am in so-called "salt belt"). When i called the dealer back, i was told that my vin is not included in the recall. The dealer then called hyundai and dealer called me back stating that hyundai would not cover. This hole can get larger and potentially cause the wheel to fall off while driving. My approx mileage is only 42k. Why is it not covered?!?!?!? i'm getting the run around.

Car failed pa inspection because of run on the sub framedealer says its not covered under recall.

There was not a crash, having major issues with the front suspension, have taken to numerous mechanics for inspection and they can not find anything wrong..feels like the wheels are going to fold under and when going around a corner with pavement level changes, it pulled dramatically..its going to cause an accident, and surely cause for recall. A recall for the suspension for vehicles in the salt states only...does not make sense when im reading some of the issues folks are having issues can be caused just by faulty workmanship, very poor quality.and after contacting hyundai they mentioned mine can not be part of it cause im not located on the east coast. This sounds odd, im having same issues ..

My car has failed the state safety inspection due to a rusted sub-frame. Hyundai has recalled may of these cars (same year, make and model) due to this issue yet refuses to cover mine as they say it was not part of the recall. It has the same exact issue as those that were recalled. I have tried twice unsuccessfully to have them correct this safety issue. There are 2 case numbers, 11190286 & 100927.

I was driving my car when i started hearing noises and the car started steering to the right. When i got my car home , i discovered that the front suspension cross membersubframe had come loose because the bolts had completely rusted out and the cross member had rusted. I discovered that my vehicle had a recall #xg350 in july 2009. I purchased my hyundai in the fall of 2009, but did not receive any recall notice. Is my hyundai still eligible for recall repair? we like our hyundai and it has been one of the best cars we have owned. The body and motor are still in good shape. What do i do next?

I entered my vin number on the has buddy app and it says that i have a recall for suspension but called a dealer and they said that it doesn't. Something is wrong with the wiring too because my doors lock at random times my seat goes forward and back randomly my speakers don't work. When i hit a bump jt feels like my tires are gonna fall off

My whole right side of my subframe is rusted i've researched a lot on this and this seems to be a safety issue and very uncommon it's causing my wheel to pull and i currently can't drive it

Car failed pa inspection because of run on the sub framedealer says its not covered under recall.

The frame to the car has a hole rusted thru the lower control arm bolt and is no longer drivable. The car was stranded on the highway and someone could have been killedhyundai says its not covered under the recall but its the exact same problem as all the rest.

Our car was excessively vibrating; we were told that the harmonic stabilizer needed to be fixed and that hyuandi cars were known for having this problem.

There is a recall on 2004 hyundai sonata for bad subframes that has been an ongoing issue since at least 2001. The subframes rust and rot out!my 2004 sonata has only 84k original miles and i recently took the car to a mechanic to replace a control arm and i was told that the repair could not be performed due to a rotted subframe! i called hyundai motors of america and spoke with consumer affairs. I was told that according to the vin number on my car that the recall was not on my car!there is a known issue and recall for the very same issue that i am having. How can they tell me that the recall is not applicable ? there probably has been thousands of 2001-2004 sonata's that have had the subfram replaced under this recall ..i dont understand why hyundai would not acknowledge the issue and cover it under the recall .. This car has 84660 miles and the car is otherwise mint !not a speck of rust on the original body!

Suspension: i have changed both lower control arms and now my struts and shocks are out i called and have been told my vin number is not part of the recall but i dont understand how that is when i have a 2004 sonata and that is the car part of the recall

18 months after purchasing my 2004 hyundai sonata brand new. The rear wheel bearing seized causing my tire to drag while driving and the tire then popped. I was able to have the wheel bearing replaced under warranty. However, they would not cover the tire.

Tire valve stem failed on 2004 hyundai sonata. There weredefective wheel covers. All tires were replaced on this vehicle on 11-10-2006.mileage wa s37,063. Vehicle was takento dealerfor tire rotation on 6-21-2007.on 6-26-2007 while travelling at 70+ mph on the interstate, i experienced sudden loss of air in the left front tire.luckily, i was able to control the vehicle to a safe stop.took the tire to the vendor.determined that the cause of the failure was a broken valve stem. Vendor stated that they have had problems with the hyundai wheel covers.affected tire was unusable due to the time it took to get stopped from 70+mph and was replaced.after that event, i began watching the wheel covers and observed that the wheel covers rotate on the wheel while driving, and bend the valve stem with significant force.i frequently removed and re-installed the wheel covers to relieve the force on the valve stem, only to find out that the problem would re-occur with less than 100 miles of driving.i became concerned and worried to drive my car at interstate speeds due to the possability of a potential crash due to the rapid loss of air should another valve stem break.consulted the internet (google) and seached for "hyunadi sonata valve stem problems."others have experienced the same problem.also, found this problem being investigated on 2002 - 2003 hyundai sonatas.see nhtsa "pe05-059 2002 - 2003 hyundai sonata tire valve stem failures 07-nov-2005 "note: today, i replaced the original hyundai wheel covers with ftermarket wheel covers purchased from auto zone. These wheel covers have a close apparence to the originals and appear that they cannot bind the valve stems. A $29.95 fix.my opinion is that the factory hyundai wheel covers are improperly designed and represent a safety hazard.had i not been an experienced driver and paying attention to my vehicle, i could have easily wrecked at 70 mph.

This is a complaint, there was not an accident. There is a clunking noise from the rear suspension area. I have had the rear struts replaced and one bushing on the right side. I have had the vehicle checked by the dealer and four independent shops. The dealer says they cannot find anything wrong. The independent shops hear the noise but can't locate where it is coming from. On the internet there are many references referring to the issue. I am reluctant to travel a distance not knowing the cause of the noise. I have written to hyundai. They say they do not have any record of complaints relating to this issue. I am in the market for a new car but would not sell or trade in not knowing the cause of this problem.

Engine code p0401 replaced egr valve twice and light is still illuminated

Extensive undercarriage rust and corrosion even though vehicle looks brand new on body and interior and has <40,000 miles.rust has extended into brakes submounts.been told by mechanic it may be unsafe to drive as lower control arm or brake lines could corrode through and cause collision. Hyundai states is not covered under recall, even though purchased and driven in pa.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that while driving approximately 5 mph, she applied the brakes and the vehicle suddenly accelerated forward. The vehicle continued to accelerate until crashing into the wall of a building. The airbags only deployed on the passenger side. The police were notified and a report was available. Both the driver and passeneger sustained minor bruising and were transported to the hospital via ambulance. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic and was pending an investigation. The manufacturer was notified via email and the contact had yet to receive a response. The failure and current mileages were approximately 30,000.

After starting the vehicle, it accelerated forward. The cause was not determined. Please provide more information.

The left and right side mirrors are losing clarity impairing vision.i will be taking it to dealer for repair.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata. While driving approximately 45 mph, the sun roof fractured. The vehicle was not repaired and the manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 130,000.

The contact owns a 2004 hyundai sonata.while driving 15 mph, the rearview mirror fell off the windshield.the dealer stated that the windshield delaminated, which meant that the glass was no longer able to hold the mirror in place.the insurance company had to replace the entire windshield.the contact believes there is a defect in the windshield because the vehicle was hardly in any heat and no objects struck the windshield.the current and failure mileages were 115,000.updated 07/10/09.*ljthe windshield was replaced on june 25, 2009. Updated 07/10/09.

Driving on clear paved street @ approximately 20 mph when loud crackling noise of front right fell to pavement. No loss of control, merely steered vehicle off main lane of street. No structure or object found on paved street for approximately 50 yds to final point of exiting off of street. Witness in car with driver can attest to no pot holes or other noted objects anywhere in area of tire markings on paved street. Auto required full tow to closest dealership.

The contact noticed that the subframe was rusted, which caused the front driver and passenger tires to detach.

The right side of the engine cradle broke (due to corrosion); the result of this broke the right front half axle, and detroyed right front tire.

18 months after purchasing my 2004 hyundai sonata brand new. The rear wheel bearing seized causing my tire to drag while driving and the tire then popped. I was able to have the wheel bearing replaced under warranty. However, they would not cover the tire.

The painted alloy wheels on my 2004 hyundai sonata are bubbling, pitting and corroding resulting in regular and unexpected loss of air.the paint is coming off in large pieces.the damage is necessitating air fill-up prior to moving vehicle on numerous occasions.numerous trips to tire shop to "fix flats" have resulted in "bead leaks" due to the corrosion.dealer acknowledges problems in this area but will not replace wheels or offer solution (i offered to accept regular steel wheels and wheel covers) even under extended warranty.instead they gave me the name of a wheel "refinisher" to solve the problems myself.

Takata recall my steering get tight while i'm driving which makes it hard to turn while on the highways

I have had several valve stem failures after the replacement of tires on my 2004 hyundai sonata.the wheel covers shift and cut the valve stems and have left us with rapid air loss.please refer to your case number pe05-059.i have even had new wheel covers placed on the vehicle, but they have also slipped over the valve stems.this is a concern because at highway speeds this could cause a blow out and an accident, leading to injury or death.

After buying new tires for my 2004 hyundai sonata, i started experiencing flat tires on my front tires.all flats involved problems with valve stems.it seems that the wheel covers on this car are not meant for some brands of replacement tires.the torque of the front wheel seems to cause the wheel covers to rotate thereby cutting into the valve stems.the dealership i went to would not warrant the problem, but he was aware of seeing many other sonatas with the same problem.i was not warned when i bought the car that i had to pay close attention to what brand of tires i used as replacements.one of my flats occurred when i was traveling at 60 mph and nearly caused me to lose control of the car.
