Steering wheel rattles and clunks when driving and turning.the consumer stated the airbag light was illuminate and was included in a safety recall, but the there has not been any notification of a remedy.

Charging system malfunctioned, sensors melted in valve trane, radiator elbow and fill neck blew off, complete engine failure and battery failure. I have had a problem with the "check brake" light and an alarm going off. However, when i stopped driving and had it towed to the dealership they could find nothing. Prior tothis incident, i took a photo of my dash, i had 76,499 miles and the coolant meter did not read hot. I had had the coolant system flushed at 65,000 miles, and i had all oil and fluids checked again after this incident.the breakdown: three hours into a roadtrip, the a/c began blowing warm, simultaneously - the "the check brake" light and alarm came on, and the "check charging system" light came on. I lost power to accelerate (or brake well) and immediately pulled over and took a photo of my dash warnings (76919 miles). The heat sensor was in the "cool" half, the battery gage showed no power. Battery so low key would not start car.i had the car towed. "tech found that elbow and radiator have holes in them vehicle overheated causing engine to blow." tiffany richardson said "tech believe vehicle was driven with low coolant level causing vehicle to run hot melting sensors in the valve train and the pipes to fail." the tech is wrong, the coolant system was inspected and flushed at 65,000 miles, and was not due for another inspection. I had had coolant levels checked less than 1000 miles ago, and the heating sensor ondash did not read hot, at the point of breakdown or after a road trip 500 miles ago.others had the problem at 3000 miles!it's the hpcu. The power for both electric motors is routed throughhpcu.the inverters allow the a/c motors to be driven by d/c batteries. This caused "check charging system" error. This is $15,000.00and i owe $4000 on the car - 100,000 warranty has denied it & i am original owner. Airbag to

The air bags did not deploy in my accident that happened on 03/09/2018. The accident happened on i-20. The vehicle was stationary in traffic when the accident occurred.medical staff and police officers wonder why the air bags did not deploy. The car is more likely to be totaled from the accident.

I was driving 35mph and i got into the pothole then my side airbag deployed it was so scary and almost got into accident. There was no damage on my car on that incident.

We have had multiple issues with the car accelerating. The vehicle will not respond immediately when pressing the gas pedal. We have had the car worked on by hyundai 12-15 different times and it continues to have the same issue time and time again. We do not feel safe in the vehicle. The last time that we had the issue was in october of this year and we have not been able to drive the vehicle since that time. Hyundai will not help us get out of the vehicle even though it has had the safety concerns. Recently we found out that the vehicle also had a recall on the air bag and they did not have a fix for the issue. We have come close to wrecking the vehicle multiple times. Thankfully that has not happened or we may have not even had an airbag to protect us. There has been close to $25000 worth of work done to the vehicle and they have never been able to fix the issue properly. We do not trust the vehicle and will not put our family at risk any longer. We need help to get out of the vehicle financially as we have a vehicle that is not safe to drive. It is not safe for us or anyone else on the road.

I had a terrible accident on highway. Another car hit me on my right side. I was driving with 60 mile/ hours. I deviate from the road and that car hit few more times. My car was distroyed. Ok this accident the air bags didn't deploy. The seat belt protected. Even that i didn't broke any bone i hurt really bed my left shoulder, left hip and also i hit my head during this accident.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai sonata hybrid. While driving 27 mph, an abnormal sound was heard. The contact observed smoke coming from the steering column as the air bags started to deploy from the steering wheel. As a result, the contact rear ended another vehicle. The contact stated that the air bags did not fully inflate. The contact sustained injuries that required medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed to the contact's residence. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer for diagnostic testing or repairs. The contact stated that the vehicle exhibited the same symptoms as listed in nhtsa campaign number: 18v137000 (seat belts, air bags). The failure mileage was unknown.

Took car in for repair of malfunctioning stop lamp switch all the same issues as in nhtsa campaign 13v113000even though my model year was covered in recall they said my vin was not coveredi was charged a fee to diag the vehicle and for parts and labor.

While car is in motion, on highway or anywhere at anytime, the check brake warning light comes on display screen, with an beeping alarm, then the brakes drop to floor barely stopping the vehicle with a grudging noise. I went to the dealer, they gave me the option to replace the abs system but was not sure of the exact problem and tried to sell me a newer car. This company already has lots of recalls and has put many people's lives in danger. This issue is happening to many other vehicles the same as mine and they are not safe for anyone.

May be engine or electrical or software problem; lost power on interstate from 70 mph to 20 mph then got off exit, shut down and waited a few minutes and then started it up and no problem again; has happened 3 times in last 4 months; taken to dealer twice without success- no codes in computer; now car is sputtering and jumping when gas is applied after slow down/stop. Now getting flashing/blinks on/off ready light on dash. Saw nhtsa id number 10056327 and sounds like my issue.drive 40 miles one way to work on interstate daily and am getting very concerned about losing power. I have reported it to dealer twice and nothing done about it and reported it hyundia customer service center without a call back to date.

After being jumped once and running properly the car no longer has any kind of power. The rear battery is working fine.my mechanic had also told me that the wheels had a certain type of spring like mechanism that was ready to shoot off the car and that the car needs a very expensive large piece of plastic to regulate airflow if it is going to pass inspection.the vehicle has not been in accidents and nothing out of the ordinary has happened to it to cause these things

Check charge system alarm(chime) comes on when the car is turned on.the car hesitates when accelerating, then suddenly gains speed without touching the gas pedal. Battery, check engine, and service lights are also on.

We have had multiple issues with the car accelerating. The vehicle will not respond immediately when pressing the gas pedal. We were driving on i81n in virginia when it sounded like we were driving over gravel.i thought it could have been a tire. Found tires were ok. Waited to pull out safely. Seconds after we entered i81n, we began to lose power, a/c and a warning light indicating to check hybrid system came on in message board. We pulled off at exit 277n and had enough power to find a safe place to pull over.i discovered that the serpentine belt was shredded. We were towed to a hyundai dealer where the car sat overnight on 9/6/15 until service opened on 9/8/15. The serpentine belt was replaced as well as the water pump belt which was also damaged. The mechanic informed me the new belt was not running true on the tensioner and a ridge had formed on the outside surface of the tensioner. My opinion is that the part was defective because the belt was not running true.

Drove down the road to the store and turned off the car and when i came out to turn the car on and go home the car would not start, the issues that were happening were, the light would flicker on and off, the brake pedal was pumping in and out under my foot on its own, and the car would not start, after trying a few times the whole car and system shut down completely and the hazards started to come on automatically and there was no power to the automatic door locks and window and the only things working in the car was the anit-theft system

My vehicle "check charging system" warning came upon the start up of the hybrid in the morning 12/31/2018, going to work. This was an issue on a heavy precipitous day in past. However there was not heavy rain, i turned the vehicle back off. It turned on without the warning which 1st appeared in front area and is audible. It started as i approached a stop sign. I live about 6 minutes away from work. The battery life is visible and it was not changed from mid point which has always been same. The tank had gas, no issue, and i drove it to work. I assumed with the car turned off for the 6hour shift i had, that it would possibly be relieved. I started the car to now drive to the store for quick grocery essentials. Within a 15 min time frame from work, store quick shopping there, and home again. The warning came back on. As i braked, or came to a stop for lights the warning would stop. As i pushed on gas pedal it would start. As i was approaching an intersection with traffic lights, i prepared to stop but as i got closer the car would not stop anymore than it had (which was significant) but not stopping, as i noticed the distance, my foot on the brake all the way i heard the vehicle (closing song) which is supposed to be heard when you turn the vehicle off. I looked at the dash in front of me which went blank all across the board and i braced for impact. My vehicle came to a stop because the collision occurred with this malfunction and my car hit the car in front of me. Physically we are ok. I am still paying for this vehicle and it is powerless by the curb at my residence until i can afford to have a tow truck pick it up. The dealership said no warranty, no assistance by them. I have a claim with hyundai which is slow. You tube has so many vehicles from 2011 and recent models that are reporting same warning issues. I have a recording of it from that day.

My 2011 sonata hybrid has smoke coming out of the dash and from under the dash and you can smell wires burning. It's all factory nothing has been done to it. It does it when you start it up and it does it off and on while driving

While driving on the highway i noticed a knocking sound radiating from my engine at speeds of 60 mph it the noise increased and then the engine appeared to be failing. My gages where the rmp's reflect where not functioning either. Amongst the engine issue my power steering column is also rattling as if it is loose and steering is become difficult. It is frightening to not feel safe in your own vehicle.

Charging system malfunctioned, complete engine and battery failure, unable to acceleratei was driving on the highway when the "ready" light started flashing on the dashboard and the battery level started dropping without the engine starting and recharging. I was then unable to accelerate the vehicle and was forced to pull over. I turned the car off and back on and the "ready" light flashed on and off then stayed off. I had the car towed to hyundai where i was told the engine 'locked up' and needed to be replaced along with the battery because it couldn't be recharged.

Check charging system and check brake light came on at 76000 miles driveing 65 mph in the highway after 3 hours. Collant did not read hot, battery read dead. Vehichle quickly decellerated and i pulled over. Radiator blew neck off and several components of the cooloing system and hoses were meltedthere is a strong smell of fludge/fule based residue/combustion in cooling system that blew off neck. Battery so week i could not use the key to open a door or the trunk, or move seats. Coolant had just been topped of and system was flushed within 10,000 miles.mechanic at kia dealership diagnosed tgat tge gead gasket/cylinder head leaded into the cooling system causing the neck to blow off the radiator and melting several sensors and components of the cooling system that would not have melted or blown from fumes of low coolant alone.oil levels and quality was good.i photographed the dash lights at breakdown and the coolant levels did not read hot. Check charging system and check brake lights came on. Check brake lights check engine lights had been a problem before. Dealership for hyundai (coggins hyundai in deland) says they think a lack of coolant caused issue, but i know i had coolant in the car - they just want to not be responsible for warranty repair,as i am the first owner and have done proper maintainance.i have seen many other people complain of similar issues from when the car is new (check chargins system less than 3000 miles) and the car blowing up/catching fire, etc.perhaps the reason mine did not catch fire was all the coolant that was released. One car owner insists that all hyundais will do this between 70,000 and 100,000 miles.something big is going on with these cars - mine has had continual problems and it should be replaced at huyndai's cost.this should be studied further! safty hazard! read hyundai forum and the other complaints!

Engine failure.i bought this vehicle as used vehicle on feb 9,2019. It had approx. 123000 miles and on march 15, 2019, the engine failed without any warning. And vehicle stalled all of sudden, had to spend $3450 to replace it with 2012 kia hybrid engine. I am not sure the cause of engine failure. But the mechanic said the engine block had cracked and had two holes on either sides(image attached). Need justice! can you help nhtsa? please reach me [xxx]information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

Check charging system warning comes on. Have brought to dealership twice but they do not know what is wrong.

My certified pre-owned sonata hybrid was not under the class action recall but has twice now had the same engine failure as the sonatas that have been recalled. First engine failure- car was at dealer from nov 2015 to jan 2016 and engine was rebuilt. Second engine failure, related engine issue- dec 2017 to current time.it is very dangerous, car stalled while driving on a major state road and entire system seized up, could not even go into neutral. Second time, oil spattered all over engine and oil light came on while on state highway- major leak on engine mount. First repair indicated the same particles in engine that caused engine to seize as the recalled sonatas though my vin was/is not included in class action settlement nor under that official recall.car still not repaired after 2 months at dealer this second time.have gone back and forth with hyundai motor regional customer complaint, local dealer and warranty company for last 2 months with no resolution and still no car.

Had to replace engine due to serious engine malfunction.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai sonata. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at undisclosed speeds, the check engine and service engine soon warning lights illuminated and remained illuminated. The contact took the vehicle jim ellis hyundai atlanta (5785 peachtree blvd, atlanta, ga 30341) to be diagnosed on several occasions. The mechanic inspected the vehicle but could not determine the cause for the failure. The mechanic assured her that the vehicle was safe to drive. Several months later while driving 70 mph, the service soon and check engine warning lights illuminated and the vehicle overheated. The vehicle stalled and would not restart. The vehicle was left at a nearby parking lot overnight. The following day she returned and restarted the vehicle however, while driving to take the vehicle to an independent mechanic, the vehicle overheated, stalled, with a hint of smoke coming from the engine compartment. The vehicle would not restart. The vehicle was towed to the independent mechanic where it remained for two days while the mechanic attempted to diagnose the vehicle. She was informed that the engine was blown and needed to be replaced. The contact stated that the vehicle was returned to the same dealer and she was informed by the service manager that she was responsible for the failure. The contact informed the service manager that the vehicle was included in nhtsa campaign number: 20v746000 (engine). The contact had notified the dealer for several months of the issues with the warning lights being illuminated and was informed that the vehicle was safe to drive. The contact stated that the same dealer performed a multi-point check on the vehicle prior to the failure, and she was informed that the vehicle was safe to be driven. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 128,000.

The first incident that worried me with my vehicle was when i was exiting out of a parking lot. I reversed out successfully, but when putting the vehicle in drive the instrument cluster showing whether i was in drive, park etc. Went out completely. I had to put the car in a park position (instrument cluster was still blank) and restart the car. I went to my local hyundai dealer to have it checked out and was told it was a faulty transmission cable. I paid to have it fixed. Since that incident, i decided that i would make sure to drive at low speeds at all times.a few days ago, i was driving on the palmetto expressway at 60 mph on the right lane. While driving with my foot on the gas, i noticed my vehicle started slowing down. The mph gauge steadily went from 60 to 40. Accelerating was no longer working even when i put more pressure with my foot on the gas pedal. Thank goodness i was in that right lane and was closest to the shoulder so i could pull over safely.again, i visited my local hyundai dealership and they found out it was a faulty engine control module.

Car was in motion.lost power to the drive system and warning came on to check charging system.nearly caused an accident as the vehicle slowed rapidly.i pulled over, turned the car off, turned car on and then it continued to drive normally.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai sonata hybrid. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 20v746000 (engine) however, the part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The vehicle was not taken to a local dealer. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The contact had not experienced a failure. Vin tool confirms parts not available.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai sonata hybrid. While driving 60 mph, the check engine indicator illuminated and the vehicle stalled. The contact also stated that the battery became drained and could not be recharged. The vehicle was taken to spradley barr motors inc. (2200 westland rd, cheyenne, wy 82001, 307-638-3335) where it was diagnosed that the oil filter contained metal fragments. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified and stated that they were waiting for the warranty company to diagnose the vehicle. The failure mileage was approximately 112,000.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai sonata hybrid. While driving at 35 mph, the check engine warning indicator illuminated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,500.

This vehicle hyundai sonata hybrid has all the issues that the regular hyundai sonata recalls have engine was rebuilt due to metal shavings in the oil pan, also this hybrid accelerates at times when it doesnt run on battery (engine kicks in) too many issues with this hyundai sonata hybrid!!! in motion on highway/ city streets

I was driving o work and sat at a traffic light when smoke started to come through vents and out the side of passenger hood. I got out and it started to smoke even more and then with a few seconds it burst into flames under the hood

I was driving my 2011 sonata hybrid down a interstate at 75 miles an hour when it stopped accelerating/working.i had my 3 year old daughter in the car with me at the time.i had to swerve to avoid an accident and was able to find a safe spot to park.i waited for 1/5 hours for a tow truck to come.after dropping my car off with the hyundai dealership i was told my engine seized and i would need a new one for $9,000. This is completely ridiculous.my care has $75,000 and i am the second owner.the recall right now does not include hybrid/korean made models of the 2011 sonata, so hyundai states they will not pay for any repairs. I am perusing legal action in the hopes to have this problem identified.my daughter and i could have been killed, and many other owners are at risk.

I was driving on the highway on my way to work when my sonata started making a strange noise.i pulled over to the side of the highway, turned off the car, and tried to restart it.it would not restart and the temperature gauge went up.there was no indication that there was an issue with the car (warning lights or other noises) prior to this incident.i was stuck on the side of a busy highway for 1.5 hours waiting for a tow to the dealer.the engine seized and needs to be replaced.now hyundai isn't honoring their warranty and saying its neglect, getting a second opinion.

Took car in for repair of malfunctioning stop lamp switch all the same issues as in nhtsa campaign 13v113000even though my model year was covered in recall they said my vin was not coveredi was charged a fee to diag the vehicle and for parts and labor.

I have had this 2011 hyundai sonata hybrid in the shop since i purchased it in 2011 newthe car has serious car hesitation and gas mileage is 19 to 30 per gallon.i have had numerous problems with oil leaks and ended up with a blown motor at 60,000 miles.i also have numerous service issues with the blower ac/ heater not working as well.the car is a lemon after 30 visits to dealership for repeated problems. I have taken car to 4 different dealerships to have a new set of eyes fix the problems and stuck with a rebuilt motor in may 2015. Car is back in the shop for hesitate and ecs problems as of june 2015. Need help.

Original owner of vehicle since 2012.in last two years, transmission replaced twice.no clear answers from manufacturer as 100k mile warranty nears end. This time dealership held vehicle 2 weeks before commencing repair.speaking to other owners, same problem within 3 years of ownership.when in motion transmission will fail and car will not shift into gear causing breakdown in roadway.the first time, got stranded on highway, able to glide to the shoulder.second time, noticed system slipping during shifts and took directly back to dealership.

I am experiencing a second issue with the transmission in my 2011 hybrid sonata. The transmission died once at around 80,000 miles and was rebuilt by hyundai approximately 2 years ago. At the time it originally failed, my transmission experienced the same symptoms that many other owners complained about before it finally experienced a total failure and was dead on the road. Recently (now at 120k miles) my car has started showing the same symptoms that preceded the original failure. This time, however, my vehicle is out of warranty so i willl have to decide whether to invest in another replacement that will also eventually fail or to just scrap the car and cut my losses. Before total failure the reported symptoms do not generate any codes that the dealer can use to diagnose the problem.this was my and apparently many other owners' have experienced the same, before total failure. I had my car in the dealer for several visits during which they simply kept blaming outdated programming that they then updated, but could never recreate any of the symptoms i had complained and even recorded on video and showed them. They said hyundai could not approve any service to the transmission unless they had "codes" indicating a problem was present. These failures, especially in the hybrid models for at least the 2011 and 2012 model years seem more than random. I believe there is a manufacturer defect in these hybrid transmissions and that hyundai probably is well aware that there is a systemic problem. I'm sure they have data that shows this is a real problem, and not something related to driving patterns, conditions, maintenance, geography, climate, etc.please ask hyundai for their cooperation by releasing data related to transmission failures on these model and years and ask them to look into an engineering issue and possibly issue a recall and/or additional warranty coverage.

On october 11, 2013 i was driving vehicle at about 30 mph.the traction, brake, and check engine light started flashing. The engine started to accelerate & decelerate at randomand vehicle jerked (intermittently)all mentioned lights then stayed on constantly.vehicle was driven to dealership.dealership scan tested & found steering angle sensor code in history, then recalibrated steering angle sensor. Vehicle was also serviced for recall regarding lower control arm (replaced). 2nd incident occurred on 10/22/13.i started car in the morning, and all the lights came on.vehicle was shut off and then towed to same dealer.service technician could not "duplicate" code.i was told by service that car was fine/operable.3rd incident occurred on 10/23/13. I was driving and vehicle brake light,& trac light came on.car was again jerking/surging and accelerating and decelerating at random. Vehicle scanned by technician and multiple "can" codes and steering angle sensor communication code found in history. Technician called technical assistance and was advised to replace motor driven power steering unit, replaced steering column with power steering unit, all ok after repairs (per dealer).rental car charge incurred totaling $26.28.4th incident occurred on 1/2/14.i was driving vehicle and traction control lights, brake light, and abs brake started flashing.trac light then stayed on constantly.car began jerking (again) and accelerated/decelerating.vehicle taken to different dealership.service writer test drove car while i was in vehicle, and stated there was something definitely wrong w/vehicle and that it wasn't safe to drive.rental car obtained.technician looked at car, called support, and was told to charge hybrid battery.service writer called back and stated that car was ready to be picked up. I refused to pick car...

I was coming off of an on ramp to get onto the highway and due to traffic i had to let off the gas. The vehicle suddenly accelerated by itself, causing me to nearly lose control of the vehicle. Another incident took place at a school crosswalk area. I lightly pressed the brakes and the vehicle accelerated by itself causing my head to whip back and me to press harder on the brake. Nearly hitting kids as they crossed in front of my vehicle.

This began as a intermittent hesitant clunk, both during acceleration/deceleration in transitioning between electric motor / gas engine. It has progressed into an unexpected physical jump while going forward and reverse. The latest development was lurching forward at a crosswalk without consciously stepping firmly on the brake. Emails have been sent to hyundai without a response addressing the problem. The car has been into the dealership twice, where components unrelated to the symptoms were replaced and a manager saying "that's what they do, and hyundai considers it normal". Normal !?!?the problem is widely known, because it has been published in the media, and no dealership will offer anything but a lowball offer on a trade in, just to turn it around and dump it to auction for parts.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai sonata hybrid. The contact stated that while driving approximately 35 mph, he attempted to brake and all the warning lights illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle stalled and could be restarted. The failure recurred on fifty occasions. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed that the transmission, the electric motor, and the oil pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 66,000.

The air bags did not deploy in my accident that happened on 03/09/2018. The accident happened on i-20. The vehicle was stationary in traffic when the accident occurred.medical staff and police officers wonder why the air bags did not deploy. The car is more likely to be totaled from the accident.

I was driving on the freeway at approx. 60 mph and the parking brake suddenly engaged.the dash alarm went off and the car starting making terrible grinding noises and swerving lane to lane.i was able to fight it and make it to the right shoulder.after turning the car off and on again it disengaged and i was able to drive it for a short distance before it happened again.i had it towed to my house and will take it to the dealer on monday.

I was driving my car with 20 to 40 mph on the speed meter , suddenly the sound of the break alarm turned on and a statement on the small screen says check break the indicator light of the break was on and the breaks starts to do a very noisy sound as the car slowing down , i but the gear shifter on n and i pulled over then i changed it aging to p then i turned the car off and waited for a while then started it again ,and the alarm was turned off and no statement on the screen , i derived carefully with low speedafter that then when i stopped for the traffic lights and switched the gear shifters to n and no acceleration was happening as i pushed the break in to hold the car the break alarm turned on again and the statement check break was displayed i did the same procedures pulled over, switched to p and turned it off ,the car traveled distance is 61,302 mi when this problem happened , i toke the car next day to the mechanic the detector showed a code c 1237

This caused the "check charging system" error. This is $15,000.00and i owe $4000 on the car - 100,000 warranty has denied it & i am original owner.

As i was gently applying my brakes in heavy freeway traffic, going about 50mph, the brake pedal became soft and dropped to the floor.the brake failure warning light also started to flash and chime.i swerved off to the side of the road to avoid hitting the car in front of me and plowed through some plants on the shoulder prior to coming to a stop with my parking brake.

While coming to a stop at a traffic light, my brakes malfunctioned.the brake warning light came on and the peddle became slack.the peddle fell to the floor.i was able to stop the car before entering the intersection.after a moment the brake warning stopped and the brakes worked again.this happened again as i was parking my car in the driveway.i have video of both incidents.dealer has been notified, but is not able to schedule a repair for 5 days.it will have to remain parked as i am concerned about safety.

On october 11, 2013 i was driving vehicle at about 30 mph.the traction, brake, and check engine light started flashing. I was driving and vehicle brake light,& trac light came on.car was again jerking/surging and accelerating and decelerating at random. Vehicle scanned by technician and multiple "can" codes and steering angle sensor communication code found in history. Takata recall . Today i have an issue with my car that is when i stopped on almost top of a hill on a red signal suddenly the brakes pedal go down and there was a light on saying : check brakes and i began to loss brake power so i pressed on the accelerate pedal to stop drifting back and parked it aside and turned the engine off then on and everything was normal , that issue happened before one month and i changed the rotors and pads for the four tires and everything was fine since as my mechanic said .

Once the chime stopped, the accelerator and brake pedals were rendered inoperable. The contact stated that the vehicle was turned off and restarted, but the failure recurred. The vehicle was taken to malcolm cunningham hyundai (4355 stone mountain hwy, lilburn, ga 30047, (770) 972-1222) where it was diagnosed that the wheel speed sensor needed to be replaced. The vehicle was repaired; however, the failure recurred. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 123,000.

Steering wheel rattles and clunks when driving and turning.the consumer stated the airbag light was illuminate and was included in a safety recall, but the there has not been any notification of a remedy.

Steering column making a knocking noise.internet research describes this as a very common problem.the steering coupling device is cheap rubber which wears easily & will eventually cause steering difficulties.this problem is always present when driving.the car only has 46,000 miles & i noticed it about a couple of months ago.hyundai needs to issue a recall to fix this problem.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai sonata hybrid. While driving at an unknown speed over a bump in the road, the contact heard a knocking sound coming from the steering column. The vehicle was taken to a local dealer where it was diagnosed that the "coupling for the motor driven power steering system" needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and stated that the vin was not included in arecall. The failure mileage was 100,000.

The steering wheel has some very noticeable play when turning the steering wheel to the left and right. The steering wheel makes a clicking clunking sound when turned both ways. Also whenever the car goes over any kind of pothole or any bumps in the road it makes a very loud rattling sound coming from the steering wheel column. The rattling has progressively gotten worse. Taking the car in today but i see that this is obviously a very common problem with this make and model. Love my sonata but disappointed i how a second owner is treated with issues that have nothing to do with being a second owner. If you believe your cars are built to last 100k miles stand by it and keep the mileage plan for everyone. Changing the miles and years just because someone new bought the car is unfair. I had to replace a hybrid battery cable for this car already, part cost $10 and the labor cost $300. Now from what i am reading the part for this fix is potentially $1 and i am going to pay 300%+ in labor.

The recall for the coupler should be explanded to unlimited miles. This is a well documented problem and has failed on thousands of customers. $400 for a $5 piece of plastic is a ridiculous price for something hyundai should be fixing. With a broken coupler, the steering becomes very unstable and is not safe. The steering wheel shakes violently and is not able to be controlled at high speeds.

The is a clanking noise behind the steering wheel. Local mechanic describes it as notorious hyundai problem. The information for recall 10v-426 was given to me. Hyundai does not include the hybrid with this recall. There are several other similar complaints, on this website, that describe the same problem. I have made this complaint before but notice it is no longer on the website. This noise happens when traveling over bumps, even slight subtle bumps, or while turning the wheel. It can happen while stationary or moving. This has been an ongoing problem but june 2018 is when hyundai acknowledged the problem during another service campaign. I currently have 129k miles.

Metal shavings in engine oil pan causing engine failure, knocking, lose of power while driving, manufacturing defect on small block engine but not on the small block hybrid... We were told by the dealer but the hybrid still has the same defect as the none hybrid same exact issues metal shaving in oil pan defects from manufacturer. The none hybrid was recalled but a recall was never issued for the hybrid stated by employees at global auto mall in new jersey.

3 months out of warranty and with about 25,000 miles on the odometer, my car developed a pronounced clunking noise coming from the steering column.this would occur whenever i went over even the smallest bump in the road.it also occurred with the engine off if i turned the wheel in either direction and i could feel slop in the steering.it developed suddenly and worsened rapidly, so i took it to the dealer.my service advisor said he was aware of a steering coupler issue in the 2011 model and recommended i have it repaired at $390.i requested he intervene with hyundai and ask them to cover it since it is a safety defect and argued that it should have been recalled.he did so and the request was denied by hyundai.the dealership took care of it as a goodwill gesture.

On saturday, july 14th, while on the florida turnpike northbound, and driving at approx. 70 mph, the steering wheel started shaking, and i could hear some noise from the steering column. I immediately reduced my speed down to 50, and the steering wheel was still shaking, and the noise from the steering column was still there. I am a disabled veteran, and this is my only means of transportation to my appointments at the va hospital in west palm beach, florida which is approx. A 1/2 hour drive from my house.

Taking my car to the dealership on dec. 1 to get seatbelt recalls addressed and requested that they check my steering wheel issue.the steering clanks and rattles when turning and when going over rough roads it is terribly noisy.driving over 60 causes the steering wheel to rattle and vibrate too.it is just a scary sound and feeling to be driving and thinking your steering wheel might fly off and you'll go heading into the woods!they said they have a lot of complaints about this same issue and i am not alone.they deal with this hyundai issue daily.hoping this will be just an easy fix of the gasket or whatever has eroded and not become something greater. I am glad i can schedule an appointment to address this concern.

The contact owns a 2011 hyundai sonata hybrid. However, the dealership pretended to be unaware of the problem and refused to repair it for free!

While driving on a busy road at 40mph my car suddenly downshifted and would not move. As i tried pressing on gas to accelerate the car slowly went up to 5 on the speedometer and stopped moving again.i luckily did not get hit from behind or cross main road to get into a side street for me to safely get out of vehicle and call for a tow.since purchasing this car used 3 months ago this hybrid would always jerk when driving as if it is slipping gears, but had realized it is the blue drive mode kicking in when driving. The repair shop states there is a defect in the transmission, unfortunatlely i am not the original owner which would be covered under 100,000. My car has 95,000 but i am second owner which hyundai states it only covers up to 60,000. Please investigate this safety issue and demand a recall. I unfortunatley have to get the car fixed since i am making payments on the loan but am going to frightened on driving this car in anticipation of this happening again. I called your hotline and there have been other cases like this as well as people reporting this online. I am documenting everything if i need to claim a lemon and would like your help and response to what and why hyundai is not recalling this car.

The vehicle pulls to the left during acceleration after adjustment at the dealership. The vehicle pulled to the right durring acceleration when brought to the dealer for repair. The dealer told me no problem with the steering of these vehicles had been reported. I found out by searching the internet this problem is a know defect with this make and model. I am turning to you because the dealer is refusing to correct the problem and tried to blame it on a flat tire and ruined rim as a result of hitting a curb. The vehicle has no bent or damaged suspension parts and clearly is a defective 0 center balance issue. Please help me resolve this problem.

February 2017 at around 85,000 miles while driving the car on a residential street approaching a red light stopped moving. The oil, battery and engine lights went on, i turned car off and turned back on and it moved i drove right to the dealership. After testing they could find nothing wrong. The same thing happened again september 28 as i approcahed a traffic light and had my foot on the break, the light changed and i put my foot on the gas and the car wouldn't move. This time the car(100,500 miles ) it finally would sputter forward enough to be pushed to the side of the road.. And the engine light stayed on. The car even in park was jerking back and forth.this is in addition to the last few weeks the car had morning hesitation after sitting overnight but then was fine. The car was in for service about 3000 miles ago. This is a safety hazard .anyone driving.

My 2011 sonata hybrid has smoke coming out of the dash and from under the dash and you can smell wires burning. It's all factory nothing has been done to it. It does it when you start it up and it does it off and on while driving

Vehicle began loosing acceleration from a stop position. Check engine light came on. Code read (p0a2d). Faulty hybrid motor or associated wiring. Dealer says need new transmission according to tsbs. No warranty. Not covered under hybrid 10yr./100,000 warranty for subsequent owners. Manual clearly includes transmission as part of hybrid system. Don't know what to believe. If the hybrid motor is at fault, why won't hyundai honor their warranty. If it's the transmission and manual states as part of hybrid system, why don't they honor warranty.

My tire light keeps going on when i have the right amount of air in it. I got the sensors checked which the repair man said they where fine and he reset the system twice. The tire warning light went on twice when i was driving it i don't feel safe in this car at all.
