On april 15, our brand new santa fe was involved in an accident. While driving in low speed traffic suddenly, while my fiance rear ended someone. To this day she cannot figure out what happened. She is a careful driver, does notspeed and knows that the area were she was driving is high traffic and was coming up to a red light.both of her hands were on the wheel and she wasn't on a phone or anything. She believes she hit the breaks, and as stated before still does not know what happened. After reading these complaints we are wondering if we had the same issue as someone else who reported and is the cause of the accident. We figured we would report this. We are also wondering if other people are having similar accidents since there has been a major issue getting parts to repair said car (car has now been off the road for 11 weeks most parts required for repair have been externally backordered and hyundai has been extremely unhelpful to help us get our car repaired).the consumer stated the vehicle lunged forward, while slowly depressing the breaks. The manufacturer was notified. Updated 11/2/2017

I was in an accident traveling approx 20mph on a city street when i hydroplaned and hit a stationary light pole head on. My frontal air bag never deployed. My head struck the windshield, created significant winshield damage.the over all damage to the front end, winshield, front end under the car damage that resulted in the car being totaled out.my concern is that my frontal driver side airbags never deployed

In the affected vehicle, the wires in the can wiring harness assembly and airbag wiring harness assembly may be damaged by the passenger seat's height adjuster mechanism. A metal 3rd party power inverter was positioned underneath the passenger seat. Prior seat adjustments caused the sheath around the harnesses to become bare, exposing the electrical wiring. The metal power inverter become lodged against the wiring causing a short in the wiring and causing the entire vehicle's electrical system to fail. The epb (electronic parking break) became engaged and it was impossible to drive the vehicle. Although acknowledge that the 3rd party power inverter was under the seat, the vehicle had been driven 4 times with it under it, totaling less than 800 miles. It is not known how long it would take for that box to rub against the sheath on the harness and bare the wiring, therefore it is suspected that the power seat adjuster caused the wires to become bare and that recall #141 safety campaign #16v145000 may not have been properly resolved.we believe the seat adjuster caused the wires to become bare, prior to the inverter being placed under the seat. The inverter was positioned such that it wasn't making contact with the bare wire, until the seat was adjusted on 7/2/2017. The car was not driven on 7/3/2016. The incident occurred on 7/4/216 as the vehicle was driven across railroad tracks. It is believed the inverter was then jarred against the bare wire, causing the short.the dealership has not validated this; they are suggesting it was the inverter that caused the wires to become bare. Our opinion is that the inverter was not there long enough to cause that wiring to become bare. It wasn't until i discovered this previous recall that everything started to make sense. It is a $5,300.00 repair because the other wires involved that are bare are for the airbags.

My airbag light came on and stayed on just before the 60k mile warranty expired. I called the dealership and was advised to bring it in to the dealership because the airbags might not deploy if we were in an accident. They said it just needed to be reset. Well, at just over 62k miles, it came back on this morning. A quick google search indicates it is a known problem across hyundai's entire fleet of vehicles. How has this not already been addressed?! i have 4 kids and cannot take the chance of the airbags not deploying.

On dec 5, 2019 at 7:50 am, i was stopped at a red light waiting to turn west at a city intersection. When the light turned green, i accelerated and drove towards the middle of the intersection. There was no oncoming traffic, so i continued and was about to make a left turn when i got hit by 2018 ford escape. The driver ran the red light and hit my vehicle in the front drivers side quarter panel, causing visible damage to my fender, wheel, panel and bumper (more damage will be determined by insurance adjuster). The impact was so hard that it moved my car, pushing the front end of my car towards east of the intersection. I had my two children and my dog in the car. The airbags did not deploy, at all. The other vehicle hit us head on and their airbags did deploy. My head and upper body slammed into the drivers side window. Everyone in my car had their seatbelt on and my dog was tied, by his leash, to an anchor in the back. The impact to my head was so hard, i went to the er and they did a ct scan to make sure there were no fractures or bleeding. I was diagnosed with a concussion due to the impact. I am attaching photos of the scene and the damage to my vehicle.

While driving on december 11, 2017 after dark, down a mountain pass in colorado, at 55 mph, all of the lights - interior and exterior - failed (turned off) momentarily.when my husband hit the brakes, he could see the brake lights activate in the rear view mirror.after playing with the headlight controls for a few seconds, everything came back on.this happened as my husband was switching from the high beams to the low beams.even though the interior (dashboard) lights were off, the radio continued to play.

When driving suddenly the car decelerates making it necessary to mash harder on the gas pedal to get the car to continue moving. The usb port does not charge which results in the phone losing battery life you can only use android and apple car onn that port so when traveling long distances you may be without directions. Its an ongoing issue.

This is the third occassion where my 2017 santa fe will not start. When i turn the keys in the ignition there is no sound at all, no electricity is being sent to start the engine. However, all my lights and radio funtions work just fine. After a while the it will work again. My battery has been tested and shown to be working fine. I leave no interior lights on and cant figure out what changes to make it start working .

## vin passed ####the low fuel light on my 2017 hyundai santa fe sport does not illuminate or beep to notify me of low fuel. I was down to almost 10 miles left before i realized i was almost on empty. Dealership has checked codes and told me there are no faulty codes. Now inhave tontake it in again and let them know that it still doesnt work.. I am leaving it on empty so they can see how the light doesnt turn on

Vehicle loses all electrical power, despite having a new battery installed by dealer. Battery runs down, sometimes overnight.dealer cannot find any issues, though something clearly is draining battery power very quickly.it has happened at least 5 times in the past 3 months.vehicle is operated often enough to preclude such battery drainage.i am bringing it back to the dealer again on 11 june, as this occurred again today (9 june).i purchased a portable machine that jumps the car because this happens so often.my spouse is the primary operator of this vehicle and i fear that the electrical will fail unexpectedly and pose a safety problem. This is a design flaw or a lemon!

Smelled smoke at a stop light. Continued when light turned green. Pulled over about 30 car lengths later because smoke was coming in the vents. Jumped out of car and ran. Within 2 minutes, entire front engine was completely engulfed in flames. No indicator light came on before. Car was driving perfect.

Blinking airbag light on front panel and dashboard while car is moving.this occurs when there is a driver with or without a front passenger.

Two issues:severe problem - when driving at a rate of approximately 35mph today on a major city thoroughfare, our 2017 hyundai santa fe 2.0t ultimate suffered a sudden and complete loss of power (engine and all electrical systems including lighting).after coming to a stop, the vehicle was stranded in place until it was able to start up again many minutes later.fortunately no one was physically harmed as the individual driving behind our vehicle was observant enough to identify the issue (despite a lack of brake lights or hazards) and stop in time. No visible engine light or fault code was triggered.less severe problem: on a regular basis, the vehicle suffers abrupt and sustained loss of power in merging situations (especially when turning on city streets from a stop). This seems to be from an overactive or otherwise ineffective traction control system/programming.despite even planning for the possible loss of power, this has still resulted in a number of "near miss" situations.a warranty visit has been scheduled for these issue and we will gladly provide the results and/or other updates upon request. We are, however, seriously considering selling the vehicle at a loss due to these two issues.

I bought the vehicle on 5/7/16. On 6/2/16 i was driving on highway 395 when i noticed smoke coming out of the engine compartment. The car started losing power and eventually died. When i got it pulled over to the side of the road i noticed flames coming out from the front of the engine. I grabbed what i could and got out of the car. Within 5 min the front of the car was engulfed in flames. I had approximately 675 miles on it. I have contacted hyundai but they have not responded to me. I ordered a copy of the police report but have not received it yet. I have pictures that i have attached. I am concerned about this happening to other people. Thankfully i didn't have grandkids in the car, i'm not sure i would have been able to get them out.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. While driving approximately 2 mph, the vehicle lost power while turning right or left. The power returned within seconds. The failure recurred several times. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and advised the contact to take the vehicle to a local dealer. The failure mileage was 1,200.

Vehicle has intermittent starting issues similar to a low or dead battery. Will only start when it wants. Usually happens at first start of the day or late afternoon.putting vehicle in drive is harder than normal. Transmission gear shifts have hard jerking feel.

Car completely shut down while driving at a slow speed turning right from astop sign, was lucky to be able to pull over to side of road. All electrical/computer shut down, engine cut off.restarted but engine sputters, feels like it is trying to shift gears while still in park.it was a very unsafe situation.was not able to get started to drive home.one week earlier i noticed the computer acting up when i first started up, but restated and drove anyway (no problem that time while driving).

The driver seat makes squeaking noises all the time. I cant move in my seat without these loud and annoying squeaking noises coming from the back of the seat

My car wouldn't start had my car for service. I was charged a service fee which they would tell me whats wrong with the car. I was only told the battery was an issue. That was replace. The person who attend me did not tell me anything about getting an oil change or any other problems in february. Went back in april because my car stop running turned off in the middle of the road. Went back to the same dealer i not fix cars so when i get servive for the vehicle. I would think someone would tell me otherwise but no. I toke it back i was told the vehicle doesnt have warranty. That it expired but in the system there was no warranty even recorded. Now i am stuck with harassment calls about a vehicle i no longer have due to lack of maintenance. I purchase the vehicle last year in june 2019. I didnt have the car for then a year.

My car just turned off. While i was driving under 15 miles, it turned off, this has happened 3!times since i got the car. The seatbelt in the 2nd row behind the passenger seat sometimes doesn't want to lock. The dealership said that they weren't able to recreate the problems so there's nothing that they could do about it. I spoke to their corporate office and sent emails and no one can fix the issues.

While driving at 25 mph, numerous warning lights illuminated, including low tires, steering, other codes consisting of letters. Power steering failed, power brakes failed. Engine was still running. We were able to pull the car off the road safely. Steering warning light still illuminated as were tire warnings. The tires were fully inflated, engine still running. We turned the engine off, raised the hood to check for thrown belt. Belts were intact. Tried to restart the engine, it made a clicking and a sizzling sound and would not start. Called dealer, dealer gave number for hyundai assurance. They came and picked up the car. If we had been driving any faster, or in traffic, the automobile's failure could have caused an accident. If we had been on the highway, someone could have been hurt or killed.after a couple of days we were given a courtesy car. After a week, the car was repaired. The problem was reported as a fuse on the positive battery cable. Cable and battery were replaced.vehicle was in motion on a city street at time of failure.

Over one month ago, my gps viewer showed a wrong time. I reset the clock and exited the feature. The clock quit appearing on the screen. At first i didn't notice it. Then when i did, i wasn't able to enter the program to set the clock: it was all dark on the choices. I read both my manuals and nothing in them talked about this problem. I had several friends read the manual and they couldn't find any information to fix this either.i went to the dealer and have it fixed and they said there is no fix for this.the second time i came to the dealer, the technician ordered the whole head unit and they said i have to wait for the order.it's about 4-5 weeks now and i still haven't heard anything.i called last week and they said there is no eta for it.i do not know what to do anymore.

Vehicle has intermittent starting issues. Starts when it wants too. Car is only 18 months old 17,100 miles. 2 days in row car wouldn't turn over but everything in the car worked. Lights, radio, power windows etc. Computer wasn't detecting key that was in my hand.

The digital speedometer disappeared and the software functionality to enable it also disappeared while driving on a street.

The contact owned a 2017 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the vehicle caught fire under the hood while parked and unoccupied. The fire department was present, extinguished the fire, and stated that the fire initiated around the battery area. A fire department report was filed. The contact mentioned that a new battery was installed a week prior the failure. The manufacturer was contacted. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. The cause of the failure was not determined. The dealer was not contacted. The vin was unknown. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

2017 hyundai santa fe. Consumer writes in regards to vehicle stalling while driving over 45 mph during cold weather. *ld

Purchased a hyundai santa fe awd turbo in may 2016, within the first 3 months the traction assist has triggered causing the power train to loos power for 10-15 seconds a total of 5 times. Each time this has happened it has been from a stop and turning onto another street and or u turn all under 30mph, have had it to the dealer 3 times and have contacted hyundai directly and they can not find anything wrong. I can reproduce the issue if i run over part of the curb or a hard bump. I feel this is a huge safety issue if the suv looses power for 10-15 seconds when pulling out.

When making a right, left, or u turn the power completely cuts out and the car is left drifting without power.their is no response to pushing on the gas peddle when this happens.at the same time on the dash the orange traction control light comes on.this last for a number of seconds andthen the engine starts to once again respond to the gas peddle.this problem has happened to me and my wife12 times since we purchased the car 3-1/2 months ago.the problem has occurred in all weather conditions from a standing start and a rolling yield or u turn. The problem has always occurred on a paved public, city/county, street i have had the car to two different dealers, one several times, and both tell me that their are "no codes showing" so that their is nothing that they can do.you have to experience the fright of loosing power while you're in the process of a right or left hand turn with traffic coming at you from one or both sides to appreciate how truly dangerous this car is. This is our 4th or 5th santa fe, up to now all of them have been great but i am afraid to drive this new car we have now.

During normal left hand and right hand turns and u-turns, the tc/esc can activate and cause the engine management system to significantly reduce engine power. This happens on dry pavement, under normal acceleration. It will also happen more frequently during turns if there is a bump/pothole/road imperfection that jars the suspension. This issue is dangerous and has nearly caused accidents. I have had to pull off the road to avoid a collision from the rear because the engine had no power, the tc/esc light was flashing on the dash. So far my attempts at the dealer to have this fixed have been unsuccessful. I am working with hyundai consumer affairs to determine a solution.

During acceleration from stop or low speed turn ,car has no or little response from accelerator, happens on dry pavement as well as wet, traction control light flashes.at this point there is no traction issues.reported to hyundai dealer checked 3 times and said all was fine ,not satisfied with answer i contacted hyundai customer service and spoke to chris wells opened a case with them #10059476 on 3/15/2017.ive had phone contact with him ,he said he would give it to the guys upstairs but still no satisfaction.big saftey concern!!! please help!

Car has serious, dangerous acceleration problems. It's most noticeable when turning left into oncoming traffic. Car appears to lose all power when accelerating - hanging for seconds while nothing happens. Engine hits redline all the time and it barely gains speed. Called dealer and was first told "dual clutch will learn driving style." after noting car has 2k miles was then told "the delay is a characteristic of that car." this is unacceptable and incredibly dangerous. I've almost been t-boned multiple times because of this. Googling led me to many other reports of the same issue. This vehicle needs to be recalled.

I filed this report on 2/21/17 and after a few weeks it disappeared (complaint # 10956079). This is an updated version of that complaint.when making a right or left turn from a stop into traffic and the suv hits a small patch of snow, pothole or bump in the street, the stability/ traction control will curtail the vehicle acceleration for a few seconds. This has caused a near miss rearend collision into my vehicle on three occasions. There is a button to shut the traction (acceleration) control feature off but it must be pushed each time you start the vehicle. My opinion is that the stability/traction control sensor is far too sensitive and / or the computer software needs to be revised.hyundai motor usa and my local dealer have stated that the stability/traction control is operating as designed.

Hit pot hole after stop and stability control stops power to transmission...5-8 seconds of no accelaration has caused safety issue when merging into traffic. Appears to be a very common problem on user based forums.

While turning right out of a parking lot onto a two lane road, the vehicle suddenly stopped accelerating for 3-5 seconds as a truck was bearing down on us. The position of the gas pedal made no difference. The engine was running at an idle with zero response from pedal input. When it did finally accelerate, it lurched forward as the pedal was pressed to the floor. We are also experiencing what could be described as a shudder when decelerating to a stop. It typically seems to occur between 20-12 mph. It feels as if the engine is stumbling or it is having trouble downshifting smoothly.

On may 31st i purchase a new santa fe sport awd 2017 - 21 days after drving the card the dashboard light where coming on for tracking control and downward shifting - when i originally called the dealership i was told maybe i went through a large puddle if they come on again call them back - within three hours of hanging up the phone the same problem started again - i called the dealership - and brought the car in they kept the car for a month stating a master technician from hyundai was looking into it, but they see where there was an issue with the shift. But they were not able to tell me the issue but it seemed to be cured for. While i was driving last week on the highway i hear a thumping sound, i thought i had a flat tire - pulled over no flat - i proceeded to drive and the sound came back - i immediately turned around and brought it back to a local mechanic shop - the mechanic shop informed me that the right front axle and shaft joint was broken and the car was unsafe to drive - i had the car towed to the local dealership who confirmed the same issue and replaced the parts required - they informed me that it was very possible that was the reason why the dashboard lights are coming on originally - the card is branch new and did not even make three months of ownership - i contacted hyundai originally and made a complaint for the dashboard ,lights but never received a reply -i sent an additional email in regards to the new issueand informed them that they should check to see if perhaps this make and model of the card is are experiencing a manufacturing defect ----- i also informed them that i could have died if this axle failed while driving on the highway.-i think there need to an investigationinto the matter before someone does end up dying

Been losing oil inbetween oil changes as documented by facilities that changed it and nothing was said by dealer when i asked if it was a problemat the most recent oil change. Today my engine light came on and blew and was bone dry. I was on the interstate and it stopped accelerating and knocking. I had it towed to dealership.

Sometimes, when i press the gas to accelerate, my car does not go.it will move forward at a slow pace but then doesn't go as fast as i'm pressing the gas pedal, even though my rpms are increasing.this has almost caused an accident because the car does not perform as it should.happened today for probably the 10th time since i've had the car, less than a month.pulling out of a parking lot onto the street, my car move's forward very slowly then when i go to increase my speed the car doesn't go faster.

On highway and engine suddenly decelerates, no throttle response, won't go over 40 mph, engine light blinks.in for service 2 times in 2 days for the same issue.service telling me it is the knock sensor or wiring.car has only 7950 miles. Campaign #953 recall done at 7400 mile

The santa fe sport was purchased in july of 2017. When taking off from a redlight or while driving at a steady momentum on the road, the acceleration drops significantly and the rpms begin to rev up high, bouncing up and down, but the santa fe sport will stall. While on the highway, the issue continues and panic sents in due to the cars behind us can rear end the santa fe sport. No matter how far or hard the gas pedal is pressed the santa fe sport will stall. All while no "engine light" turns on. Took the santa fe sport for service to the dealer over 6 times between 2017 and 2018 and only an ems part was replaced. The problem continues mostly in very bad traffic, again very concerning for safety. The santa fe sport needs to be turned off and back on in order for the problem to cease. No matter what drive mode it is in (eco; sport; normal) the issue persists.we purchased abrand new 2017 santa fe sport right off the lot which has been paid for and it is unfair that we are still paying what seems like our lives we continue to spend more with gas, tolls, travel and time from work to take the santa fe sport in for service and we do not get refunded for this.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle suddenly failed to accelerate while depressing the accelerator pedal. After turning off and restarting the vehicle, the vehicle operated as intended. The failure occurred on multiple occasions. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer parkway hyundai located at 5920 market st a, wilmington, nc 28405 but the failure could not be duplicated and the cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was not yet notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 55,000.

The car is sluggish on acceleration. Looking up forums it seems that quite a few are experiencing this. I just read "i just read an article that said that hyundai will be replacing some engines for this same issue due to a manufacturing defect with the crankshaft pin." on a forum.

The contact's client owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. The contact was a lawyer and stated that his client's vehicle stalled. The client attempted to merge onto the highway, but could not enter the onramp because the vehicle stalled. The vehicle was immediately pulled over to the road shoulder. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to danbury hyundai (102 federal rd, danbury, ct 06810, (203) 730-4700) to be diagnosed, but no failure was found. The contact did not know if his client's vehicle was repaired because the mechanic did not provide a straight answer. The contact's client was instructed by the lawyer not to retrieve the vehicle until there was confirmation that the vehicle was repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case manager was assigned. The vin was unknown. The failure mileage was 10,000.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the vehicle was included in and repaired per an unknown recall regarding the engine. While attempting to accelerate to approximately 60 mph, the rpms drastically reduced and failed to increase. The contact took the vehicle to route 2 hyundai(located at 743 north main street, leominster, ma 01453, 978-534-999) where the recall repair was attempted several times; however, the failure persisted. The contact was unable to provide the repair specifics. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 30,000.

Sometimes after slowing to make a turn the car's engine seems to "stumble" for a second before acceleration can begin. Comes as a surprise and because of the hesitation catching me off-guard i am pitched forward in my seat. Nothing catastrophic, but very annoying and could be dangerous to a driver not knowledgeable about this problem. This is a brand new car and i noticed this problem after only a day or two of ownership. I suspect this is a software issue and can be fixed with a reflash of the ecu, but that's just my best guess. Have not contacted the dealership yet, but thought i'd file this complaint first to see if a recall can be issued to fix this problem.

2017 santa fe ultimate 2.0t. Car does not accelerate and lags.happens at a lower speed and from a stop.very scary when making a left turn and entering freeway.depressing accelerator and nothing happens for a second or more, then all of a sudden it takes off.at low speed in parking lot depress accelerator lightly and car takes off.when accelerating from astop car will accelerate quickly while depressing pedal gently. Does not happen every time but is frequent enough to be concerned.has happened since new.

Engine stalled (died) when attempting to cross 3 lanes of traffic. This occurred 2 times when on vacation. Vehicle was returned to dealer for service. Dealer had vehicle for over a month and said they couldn't duplicate problem. During this time there was a national recall issued by hyundai for santa fe. I thought are problems would be solved. But was informed that the recall only covered upto production year 2015. We received a 2017 santa fe loaner for use during the time they assessed our vehicle, this vehicle also stalled. I reported this to the service mar. He said he couldn't do anything until hyundai authorized a recall for 2017. I told him that they probably won't until they sold off all their new vehicle inventory. We took our vehicle home. 1 day later the vehicle stalled when my wife pulled out on to a busy highway. These vehicles are a significant safety hazard.

I was making a left turn on to a street going uphill and my 2017 hyundai sante fe sport awd ultimate hesitated for approximately 10 seconds. When i pressed the gas i could not get speed. My traction lights blinked on and off. I had to floor the gas to gain speed. This is extremely dangerous. I could have been t- boned or hit from behind if there was traffic on the street.

The 2017 hyundai santa fe limited will bog down when starting from a stopped or low speed whiletrying to merge into traffic or turning.there is a significanthesitation- almost to the point of stopping while merging - very significant safety issue.been an ongoing problem since bought 5/31/16

My 2017 santa fe sport ultimate 2.0 turbo hesitates badly when coming out of turns or slowing... Just short of coming to a stop...and then attempting to accelerate. It is very pronounced when in eco mode, but is an issue to a lesser degree in the other two driving modes. I think it borders on dangerous. It happens all the time, pretty much in this scenario. The date i list below is just the earliest date.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. While having an oil change performed on the vehicle, the local dealer began to inspect the vehicle for a recall. The contact received notification of nhtsa campaign number: 17v578000 (engine and engine cooling). The part to do the recall repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The local dealer (gosch hyundai, 100 carriage circle, hemet, ca 92545) stated that the inspection tool was not available, but was ordered. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and was not able to confirm when the parts were to become available. The contact had not experienced a failure. Parts distribution disconnect.

I had my car for 12 months i bought bran new. It has staled and turn off on meat least 5 times. This is a safety issue especially on the freeway the car loses power and stops.than before it stops makes a knocking noise.

Car died while driving on road. Engine knocking. No indicator lights to warn me that something was going to happen. Engine filled with sludge even with oil changes. Engine knocking and failed.

Multiple complaints about the engine stalling while driving at different speeds causing very dangerous situations the vehicle looses power steering and proper braking mine has done this once so far and i have seen multiple complaints online of the same this happening to others who own the same year make model of the vehicle

15 miles from home in luverne, al 36049 on 2/1/2021, engine light came on and engine sounded like a mis-fire. Had oil changed at huffines hyundai, plano, tx on 1/25/2021 and they did a recall of a 2nd ecm update of software.emptied suv out on 2/2, went to backup on 2/3 and white smoke pour out of exhaust. Tried to drive to mitchell hyundai enterprise, al, vehicle died, had to have it towed to shop. Just found out today that my vehicle was part of the recall and that i should have been sent documentation about the engine issue. To date we have not received anything about it. According to what i read in the letter, my vehicle is not covered under the recall.the dealership says it is covered, but they have to wait for the company to make up it's mind. The recall may need to be expanded, my vehicle is the 2017 hyundai santa fe sport 2.0t ultimate.

The "check engine light" indicator turned on, and there was a recognizable failure in engine when srtarting. Took it back to dealerand took nearlya month to find the inconvinience and two weeks to fix it. They call me back to annuonce me it was ready and by the time i was reciving i noticed the air conditionar not functioning at all. Once again one more week to find the missfunctioning and reparing, now the veihicle is consumming to much gasoline (almost half tank in 87 kilometer) the injectors problem plevails. I get the santa fe in mxico, ciudad juarez chihuahua at hyndai penta is the name of the agency, as abrand new vehicle whit 0 kilometers and i pay it in cash i hope you can help me because they dont want to respond. Thank you.

I have a 2017 hyundai santa fe ultimate and like the other complaints, the car has hesitation when trying to accelerate especially after a stop, bump in road, slowing down, etc. The dealership has had the car several times trying different things such as try a different mode, reset transmission computer, etc.i've called hyundai customer service and filed a compliant open but i don't want the car anymore it hesitates too long/too many times and scares the crap out of me.it's dangerous and needs a recalled.

Car leased in feb. 2017. Just after finalized, noticed this serious problem: the acceleration after a turn is extremely slow and takes an unreasonable amount of time causing danger of vehicle behind slamming into back end. Upon accelerating after a turn there is so much hesitation that it caused driver and passengers to lunge forward once the engine kicks in.the light indicating slipping usually comes on when this happens as well.my son drove it today with my younger boy and they were almost rear ended.i've talked to dealer twice about this.

Engine stalling at slow speeds.further, at slow speeds, there is a significant delay of several seconds for power delivery.for example, if driving slowly, say at 5 mph, and power is needed immediately (such as in an emergency or a lane change situation), nothing happens for over 3 seconds when the accelerator pedal is depressed, followed by a dangerous lurch when power is delivered suddenly.this is a highly dangerous and unacceptable condition.i spoke to the dealer, who dismissed my complaint and claimed that "all cars are the same these days".this is a regular problem that occurs multiple times every day.

Let me say my hyundai santa fe limited ultimate 3.3l awd is a very goodand reliable vehicle never had any issues or problems. Always kept it maintained. Well about a month ago i happen to start my hyundai with the door open and i heard a sound just for a few seconds. The sound of a engine low on oil what could not believe it, it can't be. So i checked it and sure enough it needed oil, dumbfounded no oil puddles anywhere on the ground i was kinda in shock this has never happened didn't need to worry about that its never leaked oil and none of the gentlemen that changes the oil never said anything oil about the oil being low or oil on the engine. So i found out what kinda of oil it took and put about 3 1/2 quarters. Ok all better but still wondering how that happend just recently had the oil changed. Well the next morning i had to drive to san diego from long beach checked oil ok no problem all good. So im on the freeway driving throu oceanside camp pendleton and was getting hungry so the first exit after driving through oceanside i was going to stop and get something mind you no lights no smells no smoke. So i started to exit still everything just fine and when i slowed down coming to the light the engine stalled again no smoke no lights no smells. I was very suprised i tried to start it and nothing tried again and nothing. So i called aaa they looked at it and didn't see anything wrong but would not start. So i had them take it on a flat bed to hyundai harbor off of cherry where it sits now. They looked at it and said the engine has seized up it will not rotate. Took oil pan off and found metal pieces and said the bearings went bad in turn burning up the oil and seized the engine. That pretty much it so is their anything that can be done to help me. I still owe around $19,000 on it and dont know what to do i'm glad i found that little article because i need help.

The vehicle shifts extremely hard from a stop and when in lower gears in motion. You push the accelerator to go and it slowly responds and then it shifts violently sounding like something fell off the bottom of vehicle and jerks the whole vehicle and passengers inside. Vehicles behind us come very close to hitting us when this occurs and the vehicle has not moved yet as normally expected.

My 2017 hyundai santa fe hesitates when accelerating.can be very dangerous when avoiding traffic or moving through traffic.

My wife and i have had the same intermittent problem since acquiring our 2017 santa fe brand new in the late spring of 2016. When turning from a stop or making a very low speed turn, and then starting to accelerate, the vehicle will stall and hesitate, not moving or "catching" for 1-2 seconds. This has happened to us approximately 6-8 times. And i've nearly been rear-ended on several of those occasions because i was stalled in front of traffic behind me, also trying to make the turn . Once i barely cleared the intersection at a light when turning left, having the santa fe stall in the face of oncoming traffic. I was nearly broadsided by swift moving, oncoming traffic. Someone is going to be killed if this problem is not fully addressed as soon as possible. The public needs protection and a remedy.i can't imagine hyundai is unaware of this problem.i did a quick google search on the topic, and found many, many postings regarding this exact same set of circumstances.there were hyundai message board complaints, nhtsa complaints, "lemon" law firms whoa are advertising, seeking potential 2017 santa fe owning clients, citing this exact set of facts.it's difficult to confirm exact dates, as this has occurred multiple times.the most recent time it happened was in early may 2017, at an intersection less than a mile from our home, making a left turn from a stop, with traffic lined up behind us.

Broken cam shaft lifter arm caused engine to stall and break down

The engine is consuming oil. After 1500 miles since my last oil change the oil does not show up on the oil stick. I have bought 3 brand new hyundai santa fe's and 1 used sonata, and never had problems, except for my 2017 santa fe sport, which i purchased at dondelinger hyundai in baxter, minnesota. I have also had to replace the backup camera. I have been to this dealer 4 times with no resolve!please help!!

There has been some engine noise for 2 months or so. . i then had an oil leak and the dealer said that the engine noise was from crankshaft and maybe a bearing inside. I have 74, 000 miles on vehicle and have a 10 year 125000 mile extended warranty. I was at the dealer today and they gave me the news about maybe crankshaft bearing. The hyundai motor company has a recall on your site about 2017 hyundai santa fe having defect in a pin in the crankshaft that wears the bearing. This seems like exactly what dealer is telling me. My question is , the recall says that hyundai motor company recalled 420 2017 hyundai santa fe's that were produced between january 26 2017 and february 13 2017. My santa fe was actually produced on january 14 2017, which is only 12 days prior to the start of the official recall production date of january 26. How does hyundai motor company know that my vehicle was not produced with this faulty pin in the crankshaft that causes bearing failure?thank you very much for this website and i hope someone can enlighten me as to what i may be able to do right now.

When the vehicle is stopped, and when starting to accelerate, there are times when i'll experience a 1-2 second delay or hesitation, before the engine/transmission engage. This seems to occur mostly when the wheels are in a turned position. It can be a frightening experience at an intersection, with no power. This has occurred approximately a dozen times.

Car started to whine when started, then i was at about 30 mph it made a high ping noise like something fell out and the car shut off, never started again, mechanic said engine blown

Hit pot hole after stop and stability control stops power to transmission...5-8 seconds of no accelaration has caused safety issue when merging into traffic. Appears to be a very common problem on user based forums.

2017 hyundai sante fe se, when first purchased i felt hesitation, according to dealer they was a update for the computer, i took it in for update which actually did not make a difference. At times when getting in vehicle to drive off and put in gear it would not move. Took to dealer for service tech drove car home and stated that there was no issues. After that i stopped using vehicle. I sent hyundai consumer affairs a complaint and they brushed it off. Since i didnt buy the vehicle at the dealer i took for service they could not give me a loner. Suspension has a defect changed tires at 15000 miles due to humming from rear, had vehicle aligned and new tires 6 months later tires are worn hyundai has suspension issues. Last, so far is engine knocks when starting vehicle. Its a shame that we have to make payments on vehicle that dont serve our needs and hyundai does not care but to have there payments on time. I contacted my attorney, planning to drop off at dealer and return to hyundai so the finance company can take it back either i get my issues fixed just like everybody else should or i stop paying and take it back. If you anybody that is interested in buying a hyundai vehicle like ours send them elsewhere.

Purchased car in june 2017 and currently have approx. 5100 miles. When going from a standstill stop or a slow rolling start (exiting a driveway) the acceleration is lacking. Car will go high rpms but no speed.and when attempting to merge onto a road way it has become a safety concern as approaching cars from the rear close what was a safe distance to being on top of the bumper in no time since i can not accelerate. 0-40 can take upwards of 30 seconds with pedal depressed full.car was taken in for service at dealer in december 2017 and was "corrected". Now the problem has become worse and car will produce problem more freqently and in any driving condition to include being in traffic.the only way i can somewhat correct the issues (and figured it out during trial and error) is to turn the drive mode to sport and turn off traction control. When car is in eco the problem is much more serve and in normal it frequently happens. I do not feel i should have to adjust or turn off systems in a vehicle to make it safe to drive nor should i have a vehicle i can not drive at safe speeds.

On march , 19 2019 around 5:00am i was on myway to work like normal. As i was getting on the freeway at about 45 miles per hour my car shut off while driving. I had no power steering but i coasted to a stop in the right lane of freeway turned my car back on and drove about 500 feet and the same thing happen but this time it would not turn back on. Vehicle has57,000 miles, i was driving down the highway and the engine lost power and would not accelerate over 40. I stopped at gas station and filled up. When i started the car again it seemed ok, got back on the expressway and heard a loud noise and engine stopped. Had vehicle towed to dealership and they saidtheengine is blown and it needs a new engine. Only has 57,000 miles so should be under warranty. Dealer gave me a loaner and i drove home..car died in michigan, they towed the car to greenbay wisconsin to the nearest dealer, and i live in chicago. The dealer called a few days later and asked for all oil change documentation.. Most of it was in glove box which they found, had oil changed at hyundai dealer in illinois in march of 2020 right as pandemic started , car had 45,383 miles at that time. Dealer did not use synthetic oil according to receipt which is strange because manufacturer requires synthetic. Could not a more recent receipt but did have oil change one more time about 6 months later, again during pandemic. Dealer said that oil looked sludgey and they denied the warranty claim for the car. They billed hyundai 18,000 to put a new engine in my vehicle and hyundai denied the claim. Dealer said he would put a used engine in the vehicle for $7,920.00 with a 1 yr warranty.we declined and the dealership said they would now charge us for the tow and 30.00 a day for use of the loaner. We live 200 miles from the dealership. They asked us to return the vehicle or they could come pick it up, the car is close to the mileage that they cannot sell it as anew car and want to keep mileage down. They told us on feb 5 that the could not come and get it until feb 10 and that they would bill us 150.00 for 5 days it would take them to pick up the car. We see that there have been many engine recalls on hyundai and we think ours probably have same issues.

Severe hesitation when coming out of a sharp turn. Also happens upon acceleration after a traffic light.happening more frequently as time goes on currently 13k miles on vehicle.happens almost every driving trip but put todays date on it as it happened last today 8/1/18.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. While driving, the engine stalled without warning. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 9,000.

Engine stumbles when accelerator is pressed at low speeds, especially from a stop or turning a corner.i call it throttle lag or stumbling.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated while his wife was driving and approaching a red traffic light, the light turned green and the driver depressed the accelerator pedal and the vehicle started shaking abnormally and loss motive power, and stalled without warning. The driver attempted to restart the vehicle, but the vehicle would not restart. The contact arrived at the scene and attempted to jump-start the vehicle however, the vehicle failed to start up. The contact had the vehicle towed to a local dealer who inspected the vehicle and diagnosed the failure as bearing failure which caused the shaking and stalling of the vehicle. The vehicle was not repaired due to the cost of the repair. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 79,000.

The vehicle from time to time about once a week stalls while accelerating, ithappened so far while doing a left turn on local streets. This is very dangerous and can cause an accident

There is a few seconds of hesitation when trying to accelerate at times.from a dead stop or a slow roll when turning, the car will move in slow motion only and the anti slip indicator comes on like you are on a slippery surface even when it's dry.then it accelerates suddenly.we have come close to having several accidents because of this.we have taken our vehicle in over 5 timesand the service departments at two dealerships say they cannot replicate it and brush us off.this is a huge issue and needs to be addressed before someone gets killed.

The contact owns own a 2017 hyundai sant fe. The contact stated that while driving, the vehicle loss motive power with the check engine warning light illuminated. Additionally, there was a rubbing and friction sound coming from under the hood. The manufacturer informed the contact that the vehicle was not included in nhtsa campaign number: 17v578000 (engine and engine cooling). The vehicle was towed to sycamore hyundai (1380 dekalb avenue, sycamore, il 60178, (815) 895-4584) to be diagnosed. The contact was informed that the engine failed and there was metal shavings in the oil filter. The vehicle was not repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 80,000. Invalid vin.

Had this santa fe for a little over a year.i have noticed several instances of not being able to accelerate, or gain speed, especially when turning or starting from a stopped position, it hesitates to start to the point of almost being hit several times.i have taken it to dealer many times, and they keep telling me its the way i am driving it that the engine is like a standard vehicle, but that doesnt seem safe to me if i am trying to start driving and it wont go.when it does finally decide to go, it takes off way too fast and is like, it finally decides to shift into gear. Also while in park, engine revs to 2500rpm for no reason or idols at that rpm.it feels like the engine is pulling the car forward even when it is in parki have been given the run around so many times, i am tired of it.i'm not happy to see others have this issue, but i am also glad that others are experiencing the same problems.

Ok from the start first let me state ive never had any problems what so ever with my 2017 hyundai santa fe limited ultimate 3.3l awd none nothing so this was very strange because ive always maintained the vehicle oil changes every 3000 miles everything. So here we go one afternoon about a month ago i just happened to start my hyundai with the door open and when i started it i heard a sound for like 2 seconds. The sound of an engine that was low of oil that tap tap tap i really could not believe that i just heard that i mean really could not believe it, it doesn't leak anything its never did that before. When i get the oil changed they don't say it was low on oil so i'm very dumbfounded at this point theirs no oil on the ground were it gets parked so i don't know why it did that. So i check the oil and sure enough it's low so i find out what kind of oil it takes and put 1 and then 2 and finally 3 kinda woundering and kinda in shock so to speak. Well the next day i checked the oil and it was still were itvshould be and had to drive to san diego from long beach were i live and it's not the first time i've made this drive mind you. So im off no lights on dash no smells no noises o smoke thinking cool so after passing throu oceanside i thought i'd get something to eat so i decided to take the first exit after oceanside camp pendleton so i get off and before i stop for the light the vehicle stalls what the this has never happened before not thinking anything bad because again no lights on dash no noses no smells no smoke no nothing. So i tried to start it and nothing try again and nothing lights on but does not want turn over. I have no idea what's going on because no lights on the dash came on theirs no smoke no loud noises or anything before it stalls just nice and quiet no smells nothing just the car getting real quiet. Well i tried a couple more times best regards eric

When driving suddenly the car decelerates making it necessary to mash harder on the gas pedal to get the car to continue moving. The usb port does not charge which results in the phone losing battery life you can only use android and apple car onn that port so when traveling long distances you may be without directions. Its an ongoing issue.

My vehicle will periodically stall when at a complete stop.vin does not show recalls, but there are recalls for other 2017 santa fe vehicles with the same issue. My vehicle was made in 2017,the recall was in november 2017; therefore i do not understand why my vin is not showing that a recall is warranted as the parts would have been used to make it. This can literally increase the risk of a crash. I will also be contacting hyundai customer service.

The vehicle fails to accelerate past the initial press of the accelerator from a stop leaving you committed in traffic without power for around 2 seconds.stepping on the accelerator fails to produce any power.just had the vehicle looked at by hyundai who said they can find nothing wrong. Hyundai also said there are no bulletins or recalls.a search on the internet shows an alarming amount of chatter from other owners with the same issue.there is under 6000 miles on the vehicle and this has happened numerous times, intermittently.

When accelerating out of a very low speed turn (such as turning at an intersection or pulling out of a parking lot into a roadway) the engine suffers a complete loss of power for 1-2 seconds.it does not happen all of the time. But frequently enough to make one worry about pulling out into traffic.

Bought hyundai sante fe sport 2017 36,871 miles on 09-23-2019dealership oil change 03-06-20 miles 41104dealership oil change, 03-03-21 miles 47409 oil very low and dark in color.dealership requesting oil consumption test every 1000 miles, 04-01-21 1.5 quarts low. I have to do 2 more test, this is a skirt around the problem, and an engine flush for sludge, more skirting the problem.my warranty expires in 6 weeks!

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated while driving at various speeds, the check engine warning light illuminated and the vehicle shifted into limp mode, causing the speed to be reduced to 20 mph. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer who was unable to duplicate the failure. The mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. Additionally, while driving at speeds above 60 mph, the 2nd-row captain seats shook and vibrated abnormally. The cause of the failure was not yet determined. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 40,000.

We bought a 2017 santa fe sport with the 2.0 t engine in july of 2017.it has about5,000 miles on it and has now started to hesitate badly when trying to accelerate when turning.it seems as though it either loses power or the transmission is not in the correct gear.the result is a very dangerous situation when try to turn onto a road with traffic.we are going to call the dealership were we purchased the car to see if there is any fix.i see from other complaints this is turning out to be a common issue.

Noticed a knocking sound in the car. Thought something was loose. No warning lights to indicate an issue. The car stalled while driving down local streets as the car was decelerating. As long as the gas pedal was pumped the car continued to stay engaged.car taken to mechanic by tow. The car was down 3.5 quarts of oil. Was overdue by approximately 1000 miles based on the recommendation of hyundai manual.

I have had on at least a half dozen times where the vehicle will not accelerate after stopping, and then attempting to accelerate. For example: leaving a parking lot going onto a roadway attempting to accelerate quickly to get up to the speed limit. Attempting to turn left at a flashing red left turn lane traffic light. The vehicle will roll about 10-20', but will not accelerate, like the transmission is not engaging. Sometimes the engine will rev to 4000-5000rpms. I will quickly let off of the throttle, then it will take off. The engine does not rev every time. The dealership replaced a module on the transmission approximately one year ago, but it did not help. They had it for one day in july 2020, attempting to replicate the problem, but to no avail. The most recent incident with the vehicle where this failure to accelerate occurred was 12/26/2020, where upon leaving a service station onto a four lane road, it once again rolledto 10-15 mph, but would not go while the engine rpms went to 4000. As traffic was rapidly approaching i kept my foot on the throttle, and it finally started picking up speed. This is getting to be a dangerous vehicle to drive.

I was driving on the expressway and my oil light indicator light came on in the car and went off after i got off the expressway pulled over at a gas station. So i started driving again and again the oil light comes on so i recorded it on my cell phone.i just had my oil changed a week prior to this. Took my vehicle back to the hyundai dealership in matteson illinois where i purchased the vehicle from. And get all my oil changes done on the vehicle. They checked out my vehicle and said that they didn't get the coming on when they took my car on a test drive. So i show the mechanic the video i recorded on my phone. He looks at the video and says to me well if the oil light comes back on bring the vehicle back. And tells me the vehicle is ok to drive as it is. Two days later i'm running an arron in traffic on a busy city street and as i'm driving my car starts jerking and stalling and a flashing engine light on the dash board i put my hazard lights on and pull over to the side of the road. Called hyundai service department. Because i was close by the dealership the service personnel told me to drive the my car to the dealership so i did. They told me my engine had to be replaced. For the second time mind you. 1st time was a year prior. So they kept my car for a week and 2days. Get my car back a week later i'm driving on my way to work and the flashing check engine light comes on again. So i take it back to the dealership and they said it was the knock sensor that needed to be replaced this time. They repair it the same day. Mean while waiting i find an video on you tube about the very problem i was having with my vehicle. But it's from the hyundai manufactures about the 2014-2018 santa fe ,sonata and tuson vehicle about known malfunctions and problems these vehicles are having and would have. So i don't understand why these are not recalls. Now again yesterday 1/16/21

When going slow around corners and giving the car gas the car does not accelerate. Then all of a sudden while giving it gas the car accelerates very fast.this does not happen every time but it happen several times per week.this has been happening at slow speeds only.

This vehicle has a intermittent acceleration problem which causes a delay in the vehicle movement. The dealer stated they cannot duplicate the problem however the issue does exist. Many owners are having the same problem as i read on line.

Vehicle began burning through 3-4 quartz of oil every 1,000 miles after vehicle got close to 75k miles. When the issue first began, the cause was unknown. After running multiple oil consumption tests, it is now believed to be an engine deficiency.

The engine lite came on, there was a lost of acceleration, the vehicle stalled when slowing down for a stop light or stop sign, there was a ping noise evident with the engine. I didnt trust the vehicle had it towed to the mechanic. The mechanic noted you have only two quarts of oil in the engine. This mechanic performed all routine maintenance, rotations, oil changes, checking fluids etc. There were no signs of oil leaks and or burning of oil with the exhaust. I thensent the car to the dealership for their own review. They confirmed the engine failure and the ping noise was the rod due to lack of oil. The dealership files a claim with hyundai #pa102790, the claim was denied and still has not provided a reason for the oil loss which was the reason for the failure of the engine.there were no indicator lights noting low oil pressure or the engine is overheating, the engine lite came on in the morning and just like in a manner of couple of hrs the engine started the symptoms noted above.the dealer ship gave hyundai's complaint line, but after reading the problems associated with the engines with the sante fe what is the point to call them?

The oil light began flickering on and off at random times while driving. Mechanic found that rear seal broke, causing fluid to slowly drip. However, oil was checked and still full. I replaced the rear seal, but oil light continued flashing on and off. There was metallic debris found inside the oil. Come to find out the engine needs replaced.

Bad hesitation problem many times as four times a day when you step on the gas there's nothing sometimes lunging forward almost getting hit by on coming car been this way since i purchased in 2018 had in the shop twice cant find anything because no codes shame mechanic can't do anything unless there are codes. Very dangerousliterally 1000 of complains on the internet since 2016 since suv was manufactured

Took 2017 sante fe to dealer for a oil change and to look into an intermittent hard shift from a stop. During test drive dealer stated car engine warning light came on and vehicle stalled, mechanic was able to steer vehicle to side of road, vehicle would not restart, after several hours they informed me that engine had seized and would need to be replaced.

Engine stalls at any speeds while driving. Tech at dealership could not find the problem. Dealership stated they never had a problem like this before. The engine is a 2.0t which was subject to recalls for the same problem. Hyundai currently settling class action suit for hyundai sonatas with the same problem in model years 2011-2014 2.0t engines. Speeds when occurring 40-65 mph. Eleven incidents so far since purchasing the vehicle 4/8/2016.

Everytime i put it in drive from a dead stop it would jerk into second and when slowing down it would jerk again

The car has always ran through oil since it was first purchased, but recently the car developed a major oil leak. It is only 4 years old with regular maintenance. Checked seals of oil filter and everything checked out ok.

Upon moving after complete stop and turning vehicle to right or left, there is hesitation before there is throttle response.it occurs more often if while initially making a turn and any size bump or pothole is encountered.a very dangerous situation as there is no way to make an avoidance maneuver if necessary since there is no immediate throttle response.the same situation occurs when at slow speeds a pothole or bump is encountered during a turn.again, dangerous, because without a responsive throttle no avoidance maneuver is possible.n.b. I put today's date because the "field is required".it occurs on a daily basis, nonetheless.

The engine had been burning up the oil in the car. We had a oil change on 11/30/20 and the car has 0 oil as of today. The engine might be blown. The car only has 88k miles on it.

I purchased a used 2017 santa fe awd on 11/06/2019. The car failed to start on the first attempt at a gas station -- the first time it has happened after purchasing the car. It started on the second attempt, the car drove smoothly to the dmv for registration. About 1-2 hours of driving, the car stalled in town despite accelerating with rpms greater 3. The car became responsive only after stopping and restarting at the curb. I noticed a steady check engine light on the dashboard for the first time after the incident and have been having a jerky ride experience ever since. A call to bluelink confirmed that the car requires a thorough system check involving the power train at the dealership. An appointment has been for 12/4/2019 and the car has been parked.

The santa fe sport turbo engine severely hesitates to accelerate when coming out of turns or roundabouts to the point where i was almost rear ended! when the engine catches up, it jerks your head back. The other day was the worst when i entered a parking garage with an incline. Upon acceleration, the engine hesitated to the point i almost started rolling backwards. When it finally kicked in, the car surged forward as if the acceleration pedal was floored. A pedestrian literally jumped out of the way thinking my car was going to hit him. This engine is a safety issue!

When turning left or right from a stop or low speed (<10 mph) on a paved city street, intermittently the vehicle will not respond to my gas pedal. I can have the pedal all the way to the floor and the car will not accelerate. Only after 1.5 to 2.0 seconds will the car react, and when it does, it is violently fast. This causes issues when making left turns because you're going into oncoming traffic with a vehicle that is stalling for almost 2 seconds before the car begins to move forward (violently).

I was driving from kellogg, mn to winona, mn and i stopped at lark toys. While joining mn highway 61, turning right i had to accelerate. I was in sport mode and vehicle accelerated and almost stopped. Luckily no accident occurred, i had my 17 month kid and my wife in the car. Car after that gave check engine light warning and it would not accelerate. I changed to eco mode and then it slowly started to accelerate, but at about 20 miles an hour it jerked again, but i pressed accelerate hard and it sustained speed. But it wont go over 65 miles an hour. I slowly made it home. But i tried to drive again and same issue. Called hyundai customer support and they refused to rochester as it is 46 miles and they only support 20 miles or less tow. My car is still under manufacture warranty and yet worst service. I almost got killed today with my 17 month toddler

Engine starting making a knocking noise.brought into dealer and was told it had complete engine failure due to broken bearing and i would need a new engine.denied request through warranty.only around 43000 miles are on the car.hyundai informed me it was denied due to oil not being changed properly as evidenced by two areas of sludge on the inside of the hood of the engine.service records brought to hyundai showing oil was changed within the 7500 mile as indicated on hyundai's website and owners manuel.

Engine made a loud pinging noise.no warning lights appeared.i had it towed to dealer and they said that metal shavings were in the oil and the engine is shot and needs to be replaced.car had 95,400 miles.hyundai denied warranty because i was second owner after ignoring me for approximately one month and they never did reply to me directly, only to the dealer.how can so many hyundai engines not last for over 100,000 miles?

From stop, or near stop, engine cuts out (stumbles) during normal acceleration.

Carbon monoxide inside the cabin when traveling on the freeway about 70 miles an hour

On low speed turns (below 20 mph) the engine and transmission exhibit a loss of power.this jeopardizes my family's safety when turning in traffic.i have opened a case with hyundai america (#9484960) who left me a voicemail (still have it) stating there is a software update to address the issue i described. I had update #16-01-032 applied on 08/15/2016.however, the issue is till present.i also just discovered that when towing a trailer the right turn signal does not work.this is another safety issue.additionally the lights of the trailer constantly run even when the power is completely off.lastly the harness where the trailers electrical plugs into on the vehicle, pops out of place when plugging it in.in turn causing me to reseat the vehicles harness each time.i want out of this vehicle but they will not offer me a buy back.i plan to contact a lemon law attorney as i am unable to receive help otherwise.

Wrong tire pressure reading

My new santa fe 2017 has a problem with the car not reacting to pressing the accelerator. Your press the accelerator and the car does not move and the engine does not rev. The hesitation is about 2 seconds long and is very scary. It happens intermittently and from a stopped position. I'm afraid at some point there will be a terrible accident from this problem. I've heard there is a recall 16-01-032 for the tcu update 60co61r1 but i reached out to dealership and they don't know anything about it. This is very dangerous and i did some research there are a lot of people having this same problem. I noticed this problary a week after purchase.

Engine stumbles when accelerator is pressed at low speeds, especially from a stop or turning a corner.i call it throttle lag or stumbling.

While driving my 2017 hyundai santa fe sport 2.0t to enter the freeway, the car would not accelerate normally.it started to shake and felt like the engine was "misfiring" after several minutes, i was able to get up to 60mph.i tried taking my foot off of the accelerator and pressing it again but it would only lose speed and then i'd have to work my way up to 60 mph. I was travelling straight and on a flat road. Engine light would come on when foot was on accelerator, then it went off.once i was off the freeway and tried to make a right turn from a stop, car wouldn't accelerate going up the incline and the car behind me almost hit my tail end. Finally,i turned left to go up the hill toward my house, i could only get up to 15 mph but rpms were between 3500-4000. Luckily there was no traffic behind me but i was afraid i wasn't going to make it up the street or that some car would come up behind me and my car would stop. In order for a car to be safe it needs to be reliable in acceleration as much as braking and steering! i have an appointment at the dealership day after tomorrow.

Carbon monoxide inside the cabin when traveling on the freeway about 70 miles an hour

During acceleration from a stop sign/red light or turning the engine hesitates for approximately 5 seconds after several tries before reaching desired speed. When using cruise controlon freeways there is a 10 to 15 second delay when accelerating or passing another vehicle whichin one instance caused a near accident on a high speed freeway. My vehicle slowed down causing other vehicles go around me passing from the right side lane. These hesitations have caused me several near accidents and makes me not feel confident when driving this car. I have taken the vehicle to the dealership on many occasions and they report no error codes show up and, the mechanic cannot duplicate the problem.however, the dealer replaced the transmission earlier this year. There has been no improvement.i have reviewed many other complaints of this hesitation problem.will it take death reports to help us owners? my issue began in 2018 right after purchase and the problem is occurring more often now. No help is in sightwhen hyundai and the dealership refuses to admit the problem and makes me and other owners feel like we don't know our vehicles or our own minds!! we need help before a death occurs not after!!

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. While attempting to accelerate from a stop, the vehicle hesitated before accelerating. The failure occurred without warning. The dealer was unable to duplicate the failure. The dealer recommended that a fuel additive be added to the fuel tank, but that did not help. The failure recurred several times. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 12,000.

My 2017 santa fe sport with the 2.0 turbo engine, hesitates all the time while attempting to accelerate or make a turn for aprox. 1-2 seconds, thus it makes for a hazardous situation, especially when you're turning in front of on coming traffic.

Taking a right turn into our driveway ,the vehicle hesitated then surged at a high speed and crashed into our home.brakes were being applied but could not stop the impact.believe the surge may be related to the turbo engine accelerating.

When accelerating from a dead stop or nearly a dead stop the car does not accelerate smoothly. There seems to be a pause and then it accelerates quickly, this caused a family member to hit a car in a parking lot.

At low speed and pulling out to traffic, at tomes there is no power for 3 to 5 seconds, very dangerous when pulling into traffic.

Thank you.

Car hesitates to accelerate from a complete stop, accelerating while coming out of turn,or slowing down and accelerating again.also seems to be using a lot of gas.haven't calculated it yet but can see the fuel gauge lower as i'm driving.car only has 17000 miles.

Vehicle accelerates very sluggishly on take off & is very unresponsive under load like going up a hill.

Acceleration issues.on at least two separate occasions, acceleration from a stop resulted in the car staying at the same speed. Had to remove my foot from the gas pedal and reapply several times to get it moving.normally, applying throttle pushes individuals back on their seats. Car was taken to laurel hyundai and per the techs "unable to replicate customers concern on road test, no codes stored or present in system, no tab's for concern found".looking at getting rid of this vehicle due to this serious safety issue.

When accelerating after slowing down to either make a left or right turn car loses power to the engine. It appears that the car is hesitating to accelerate and can be very dangerous when entering the highway. This can be very fatal especially for drivers unaware of this issue. If it presents itself at the wrong time can lead to a very serious accidents with potential fatalities. This has happened since the car was purchased in may 2016 currently car has over 1600 miles (3 months owned). Potential re-flashing of automotive computer is required. Could be part of the traction control system and the cars roll over sensors which can be contributing. Hyundai has to research this before someone gets injured.

Hesitates when taking off.jerks at about 10 mph and then again at about 20 mph but not as bad as at 10 mph.hesitates when given gas after jerking.feels as if i have got to about 10 mph then slammed on my breaks before it will start to go again.i'm scared to try and pull out into busy traffic.i am worried i will get hit due to not being able to depend that it will go when i'm trying to go.

Severe hesitation when trying to accelerate from a stop. Occurs intermittently and happens when turning right or left. More likely to happen if road surface is rough that vehicle is turning onto.the vehicle will begin to accelerate and then lose acceleration.although pressing the accelerator the car does not speed up even though the engine revs up.after about 3 or 4 seconds the vehicle then responds and begins to accelerate.this situation does not occur all the time.it may occur 3 or 4 times in a week.this is a safety concern because i have almost been hit from behindas a result of the vehicle not accelerating.

I have a 2017 sante fe limited ultimateand when slowing down to between 10 to 15 mph and then trying to accelerate the 3.3 liter motor6 speed transmission hesitates whendown shifting from 3rd gear to 2nd gear. This hesitation left me in intersections a few seconds longer than i should have been making the cars coming from the opposite direction dangerously close to me. I've been to two hyundai dealerships and after test driving the car with me the hyndai mechanics told me this was the way the cars were designed and without code lights coming on they could not fix the car. Hearing this from hyundai mechanics was not confidence inspiring to learn that without a code light coming on they could not find or fix a problem. Also at highway speeds if you step down on the gas too far the car will down shift to much and the motor will rev up to 6000 rpms resulting the car not accelerating. I had a 2011 sante fe gls with a 6 cylinder motor and it seemed to be more responsive the transmission for that year seemed better matched for the motor and worked flawlessly. Hopefully hyundai finds a fix/update for this problem because there is a lot to like aboutthis car.

When accelerating the car bogs down.it happens randomly.dangerous if you are making a left hand turn with oncoming traffic.you can get stuck in the intersection.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe sport. The contact stated while driving at an undisclosed speed, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle stalled with no warning lights illuminated. The contact also stated that the vehicle had been stalling from the time of purchase when making a right or left turn. The vehicle was taken to the dealer but was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 18,000.

When accelerating from a stop and entering traffic, when you press on accelerator the transmission dis engages and leaves you in the middle of the intersection with no power and putting you in danger of being hit. Once transmission kicks back in, the engine revs and vehicle jolts.this is very dangerous and will get someone killed.hyundai has to address this issue.

When slowing down then accelerating to a higher say (say in stop and go traffic) the transmission frequently lugs and struggles to select a gear, resulting in a significant acceleration delay. This poses a safety issue as a delay in acceleration could lead to a collision. This has been an issue since the car was new.

When depressing the accelerator at speeds less than about 10mph, the vehicle has a very significant hesitation/engine stumble - about 2 seconds when the vehicle is completely non-responsive and bogs down. Happens every time at low speed turns, and is dangerous with vehicles behind.owned a 2014 hyundai santa fe sport 2.0 turbo and never had an issue with it.i hope and pray they can fix this issue because this vehicle has a lot to offer but this problem takes away from all of it.also received a survey from hyundai engineers and in the "engine" category the only complaint to pick from was "engine stumbles" coincidence or are they working to resolve this issue?

At stop when turning right are left and accelerating the transmission fails to respond ad the car stalls then will go. If slow to slow speed and accelerated the car will stall before shifting down. This problem is a safety hazard. Took it to hyuandi dealer at 3000 miles was told it was normal.

On the interstate, pressed the gas pedal and the vehicle did not and would not accelerate. I tried multiple times. Rpm went up to 5000 but shifting the transmission into sports mode and downshifting and upshifting made no difference in the speed of the vehicle. Speed remained the same, engine roared as if in neutral. I pulled off the interstate, cut off the vehicle for several minutes, restarted the vehicle, returned to the interstate and could accelerate. This happened multiple times in 2017 and 2018 both on the highway and city streets. In 2018, taken to pearson hyundai and could not be fixed because no error codes. After a dangerous, identical incident on the interstate in may 2019, taken to pearson hyundai. They performed a tcu and ecu software update may 21, 2019. This latest incident is a repeat of the may 2019 problem. The problem is random and unpredictable but occurs on both highway and street speeds. The inability to accelerate without warning will eventually cause an accident. We also own a 2016santa fe sport turbo awd that has not had any of these acceleration problems. Changes were made in the 2017 model year to the engine and transmission that are impacting acceleration.

Hit pot hole after stop and stability control stops power to transmission...5-8 seconds of no accelaration has caused safety issue when merging into traffic. Appears to be a very common problem on user based forums.

Hesitation when turning and accelerating from a stop, as you do when pulling out into traffic. Car nearly comes to a stop. Nearly had an accident and i have less than 1000 miles on odometer. Does this intermittently and is bar to recreate at will. Happens mostly in normal mode. Need a recall and fix!!

I bought a 2017 hyundai sante fe torbo ultimate and found on excelleration there was a bad hesitation. I was almost killed when going on to the highway, a tractor trailer was far enought away from me to pull out, but upon stepping on the gas the car hesitated so bad it almost stalled, then the tach shot to 6000 rpm's and it took off. Thank god i could pull over or i would have been killed.

2017 sta fe 7 seater:when going to a slow speed to almost complete stop then try to turn right from the intersection, the suv can't find the right gear for few seconds then lounges abruptly that jolt your body forward and backfrom your seat.it shift beautifully when turning to the left or from straight line.it feelsvery weird and dangerous that you might hit the car in front of you oryou might be hit from behind.i hope that your good office will investigate this problem before any accident happens.it makes me nervous every time i make a right turn.

My 2017 hyundai santa fe hesitates when accelerating.can be very dangerous when avoiding traffic or moving through traffic.

Go through car wash must have under body sprayed type of car wash . I leave p1326 code vehicle goes into limp mode already had wire harness replaced by dealer.didn't correlate car wash until i recalled getting same one first day it occurred when i brought in for repair.knock sensor harness when i clear code goes away.lots of people seeing it happen driving in rain very dangerous reduction in speed takes forever to accelerate when hits new gear dangerous.

My 2018 hyundai sante fe was purchase 'certified' used from puente hills hyundai in southern california. About a year into owning my car it began to jerk and felt like i went over a hard bump when i would accelerate from a stop and then began doing it while i would drive up hills. Puente hills hyundai informed me there was a recall and that the recall would 'solve' the issue. After i got my car back, a few weeks later it started again. But happened less often then before. I recently took my car in and was told that puente hills hyundai was able to recreate the jerking and would call the extended warranty company to have them come confirm the issue. When the warranty company finally came out, they unsuccessfully recreating the jerking sound and told hyundai my car is 'safe' to drive and nothing is wrong with it. Hyundai tried to tell me to take the car back since there is nothing they can do to fix the issue since the warranty company said it was 'safe'. I refused to take it back due my safety and the safety of my unborn child and was told they would keep it again to see if they can recreate the jerking and then contact hyundai directly to see if they'll come check it out. But wasn't guaranteed that they would fix and or be able to solve the issue. I have checked online and seen that several people owning this same make and model have similar complaints and have complained to you guys and was hoping that my complaint will be honored more than it has been at this dealership. The jerking motion happened when backing out of my drive way, accelerating from a stop sign, driving on the freeway, going up hill, or backing out of a parking stop and moving back into drive.

The vehicle :"chokes" out at low speed often when turning a corner or from a slow start. I took the vehicle into the dealer and they ran diagnostics and declared they detected no problem. However, the problem still exists and may cause an issue if acceleration is required.

I purchased a brand new 2017 hyundai santa fe limited ultimate on may 5 of this year, and noticed a very hesitation during the drive home from the dealership. I figured it was the result of the engine breaking in and that i should just be patient. However, it continued...and progressively got worse. Specifically, it's most pronounced when i accelerate from a dead stop, accelerate out of a rolling stop, accelerate out of a left turn, or try to make a quick passing or merging maneuver on the freeway. In all of these conditions, there is a 2 to 3 second delay before the transmission will suddenly downshift and the vehicle will blast off. This is really dangerous, because i've had nearly a dozen instances of being nearly rear ended because the vehicle won't accelerate quickly enough. The best way to describe it is to say that it's like trying to accelerate with a dirty, severely clogged, 10-year-old engine air filter, and the intake can't get enough air into the engine to accelerate as it should. I've been to our local dealership several times about this issue and in every instance we're told that there is nothing they can do until hyundai releases an update or a recall. But in the meantime, i guess i'm supposed to continue playing russian roulette with my life. I'm at nearly 9,000 miles and the hesitation is still as pronounced as it was in the beginning. I'm trying really hard to be patient and not keep complaining to our local service center...but we've had quite a few close calls, extremely close, and i'm really hoping that hyundai will please fix this soon! in fact, i just read an article about hyundai replacing the engines in the '17 santa fe's because of a manufacturing issue with the crankshaft pin causing the exact same symptoms i've experienced. So i hope that i can please get my vehicle repaired before i end up in a terrible accident. Thanks!!

Have owned vehicle since 12/16.approx 6 times there has been an acceleration problem when changing lanes or turning.have pushed the gas and nothing happened - engine does not rev or respond in any way to the pressing of the gas pedal.its like the car is in neutral and then it will just all of a sudden re-engage.no warning lights; no indication when it will happen.filed complaint with hyundai but they are unable to recreate the problem and/or will not assist until they can.dealer had car for two weeks and could not recreate so hyundai closed our complaint.the date entered below is the last time it happened.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. While the vehicle was parked with the engine running and the gear in park, the gear automatically shifted into reverse and the vehicle moved backwards. The failure occurred without warning. The contact was standing on the passenger side with the passenger door open. The contact jumped into the vehicle and applied the brakes in order to stop the vehicle. The contact was able to stop the vehicle and pulled over to the side of the parking lot. The contact turned off and restarted the engine, and the vehicle returned to normal. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not contacted. The failure mileage was 23,300.

I parked my car parallel to the curb on a city street. I moved the shifter from "drive" to "park". I did not turn off the engine because i was only going to get out for a few seconds to open the door behind me to let some senior citizens to get in the car. I released my seat belt buckle and proceed to open the driver-side car door. As soon as my feet were on the ground and my body was outside of the car, the car started to move in reverse direction. The car was moving fairly quickly because within a split second, i was knocked to the ground by the car door with the left front wheel on top of my left foot. The wheel proceeded to roll over my left ankle, leg, thigh, hip, abdomen, chest, and finally my right upper arm and shoulder joint. The car continued to travel in reverse by jumping the curb onto the side walk and finally stopped by heavy bushes in front of a building. Upon inspection, the shifter had slipped into the "reverse" position. Based on the gradient of the road service with the engine running, the removal of my foot on the brake would have immediately allowed the car to move backward had the shifter was in reverse which would make exiting my whole body out of the car without noticing car movement very unlikely if not impossible, particularly for a 72 year old male who is recovering from an open heart surgery and two brain surgeries. The shifting mechanism and the associated control must be faulty resulting in the "false park" position.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the vehicle decelerated independently and stalled without warning. The contact stated that the failure recurred several times and was towed to miller hyundai located at (4455 vestal pkwy e, vestal, ny 13850) where unknown repairs were provided however, the failure persisted. The vehicle was repaired a total of 6 times by the dealer. The manufacturer was contacted and informed of the failure and offered minimal monetary assistance. The failure mileage was 29,792.

9/18/17 while driving on highway at 65 mph the abs light came on and the vehicle while trying to accelerate moved slow as if to not want to shift.i got to the side of the freeway and turned the vehicle off and when i re started a few minuets later the light went out and vehicle operated without out problem. I made appointment with dealership for 9/26/17. They did some recall items and i mentioned the problem and was told if the light is out it may not show up.the failed to not on service order this issue. On 10/24/17 while driving on freeway and had traveled about 50 miles from home the abs light came on again and this time it notified me on the radio screen to contact blue link as there was a possible condition with the brake system. I contacted blue link and they made an appointment for 10/27/17 at 8 am at the dealership. After 6 hours waiting on hyundai tech support to get back with them to run diagnostics. Last 3 months vehicle monthly report on vehicle shows a problem with the abs system. They claim they are unaware of any issues.10/24/17

Brand new vehicle (1600 miles) hesitates when i go from a complete stop and start to accelerate at low speeds.mainly notice it when taking a corner.it seems as if it has trouble selecting the gear and once it does, it lurches forward.dangerous when pulling out into traffic as the hesitation puts you in the middle of the road just a little too long for comfort.also, my traction control light will come on around certain corners and leaves me without control of the car.also another safety issue as again the car hesitates or locks up because of this feature and doesn't allow me to drive forward as i wish.it's the middle of the summer without any rain and definitely no snow on the ground (i'd say perfect road conditions) so no real reason why my traction control should be turning on around corners.very concerned about this issue!also, i should note that these issues have been happening long before 1600 miles.i noticed them the first week or so that i took the vehicle home so definitely less than 500 miles as i bought it new.for a brand new, fairly expensive vehicle i shouldn't have to feel like my confidence in it's basic performance is compromised.

I have been experiencing intermittent hesitation with acceleration (especially when resuming speed after slowing down).i have taken car back to dealership 3 times.they performed a computer update to "relearn my driving style" and then they replaced the transmission.nothing has helped.i had the tech test-drive with me.he felt there was a shift-lag from 3-2, but said it was normal.i'm told nothing else can be done until a recall is issued.i've had my car 2 months (4000 miles) and it has never driven right since i brought it home.

Vehicle hesitates when pulling out in traffic from a turn or stoplike it's not in gear momentarily.very dangerous, please fix before someone is killed.also i have only2100 miles on the car and i noticed the paint has chips all over the hood, front bumper, quarter panels. I don't know if hyundai is using very cheap clear coat orif it's just too thin, but at this rate the paint will be gone in a years time.i own a 2011 sorento (bought new) that has less chips on it. Come on hyundai fix these issues or get your cars out of the usa. All brands have issues but it's how you resolve them that matters.

The 2017 hyundai santa fe limited will bog down when starting from a stopped or low speed whiletrying to merge into traffic or turning.there is a significanthesitation- almost to the point of stopping while merging - very significant safety issue.been an ongoing problem since bought 5/31/16

Multiple times while attempting to accelerate the rpms will go up and the car does not move.when it finally goes the car will jerk and the rpms fall.there seems to be a loss of power when this happens.also seems to happen when making left hand turns across traffic, which can become dangerous with oncoming cars. This happens when attempting to accelerate.

2017 hyundai santa fe sport 2.0 twhen making a turn during acceleration, sudden power loss to engine.usually happens in 2nd gear, especially after downshift from 3rd gear.making a sharp left turn from a full stop caused the stability control to turn on and vehicle lost all power (rpm sat at 1500 rpm) for approx. 2 seconds.almost got rear-ended.another time, making a right turn on interstate onramp and right front tire hit a pot hole, vehicle lost all power for approx. 2 seconds (around 20 mph).almost got hit.making a left hand turn at turn signal (vehicle downshifted from 3rd to 2nd) and vehicle rpm went to 1500 and didn't move for approx. 2 seconds.almost got hit.accelerating up hill, slowed down for car in front of me (vehicle downshifted from 3rd to 2nd), approx. 20 mph.went to accelerate again and vehicle sat at 1500 rpm with power loss for approx. 2 seconds.several others report this same issue on the various hyundai santa fe forums with the sport turbo.i know there was a tsb for the full-sized santa fe with the v6, but this is the swb (short wheel base) sport model with 4 cylinder turbo.

2017 santa fe sport with turbo.when turning left into traffic from a stop or near stop, the acceleration studders or doesn't respond, it acts as though it isn't engaging the gears in the transmission. Very dangerous when trying to enter traffic, you start to roll, like you are releasing a clutch in a manual transmission, but it doesn't accelerate until you are committed to the turn. I noticed one time that the anti-skid traction indicator flashed, but i haven't looked each time. I haven't noticed the delay going right, but left it happens nearly every time. We have come close to being hit twice now. I called the dealership that we bought it at and they said that it could be the adaptive learning that needs to be reset. The vehicle learns from the driver and resetting it would cause it to learn over again. We have an appt to have it looked at and duplicate for them.

Vehicle has intermittent starting issues similar to a low or dead battery. Will only start when it wants. Usually happens at first start of the day or late afternoon.putting vehicle in drive is harder than normal. Transmission gear shifts have hard jerking feel.

While i am driving and my car is changing gears, it does fine until its in fourth gear. The rpm will go to about 2,800 until it changes to fifth gear. Onve its in 5th gear the rpm will go into a "neutral" state and rev from 4,700 rpm to 5,700 without any acceleration. This happens when accelerating up a freeway entrance . I have been to the dealership 3x now and all they keep saying is the transmission needs an update. And the adaptive values need to be re- learned. I have now had my transmission fluid filled once and then i paid to get a tranny flush. And adadptive values reset twice. Nothing has changed. I have 38,000 miles and this has been going on for about the last 15,000 miles.

When accelerating, my vehicle hesitates presenting a safety issue when merging onto highways or making lane changes. Could absolutely lead to an accident, especially the risk of being rear ended. Also when turning, hesitates when speeding up after the turn. Same with stops.

On march , 19 2019 around 5:00am i was on myway to work like normal. As i was getting on the 60 freeway at about 45 miles per hour my car shut off while driving. I had no power steering but i coasted to a stop in the right lane of freeway turned my car back on and drove about 500 feet and the same thing happen but this time it would not turn back on.

There is a recurring issue with the transmission where in low or slow speed situations when you apply power the transmissions stutters or stumbles. It is most prevalent when turning in an intersection across oncoming traffic where you never quite stop or when rolling at stop sign. When you apply throttle the car shift logic seems confused at what gear to go into so it just sits there or lurches, then to get going you have to apply full throttle so it picks the correct gear to accelerate in. The causes a high speed reaction in the vehicle, which is not safe either. This vehcile has three driving modes. The default, normal setting. Econ, and sport. Sport setting seems to correct this safety issue, but it has to be turned on each time the car is restarted. Sport mode then locks out overdrive so you must then physically return the car to normal mode to get it to return to 6th gear or overdrive. I have been driving more than 23 years and have had probably 40 different vehicles, this transmission renders the vehicle nearly undrivable in some situations. In certain scenarios when you really need the vehicle to accelerate it may not and you may be hit by oncoming traffic, a train etc.this has been an issue since the car was driven off the lot.

My brand new 2017 santa fe limited hesitates badly when coming out of turns and attempting to accelerate...just short of coming to a stop. It is very pronounced when in eco mode, but is an issue to a lesser degree in the other two driving modes. Does anyone else have this issue? (i have an appointment soon to get it looked at, but was told that there is no adjustment that they can do.) it is unacceptable and i'm looking to hear if this is a common. The owners manual states that performance in eco mode is less. But this is very annoying and borders being dangerous.

The care has less than 200 miles on it. It has a serious hesitation problem when slowing down and then attempting to accelerate. This has caused me a couple of near collisions when slowing down through an intersection and then attempting to drive through. The car will not respond immediately to may attempt to accelerate.there are numerous other complaints of this make and model (i have the santa fe ultimate version).

I had my car for 12 months i bought bran new. It has staled and turn off on meat least 5 times. This is a safety issue especially on the freeway the car loses power and stops.than before it stops makes a knocking noise.

While in slow speeds, the transmission struggles to select the proper gear. Causing the vehicle to accelerate faster tan normal, specially while turning after reducing speed.you have to control the acceleration using your driving experience, however this is not safe at all. Tested using, eco, normal and sport driving modes, the only time i couldnt reproduce the issue was while on sport mode (i want to drive on eco while in the city) hopefully hyundai will tackle this issue.

2017 santa fe se 3.3l v-6 (3 row) frequently hesitates/stumbles badly when given normal acceleration at 5-15 mph.when slowing down or rolling stop, vehicle seems not to downshift from 3rd gear to 2nd gear correctly.car is unresponsive for 1-3 seconds, then there is a delay and lurching forward as the car finally downshifts and accelerates.i have had a number of dangerous circumstances where the car stumbled just as i was accelerating to merge with faster traffic.the selling dealer drove the car and could not find a problem or an error code in any of the onboard systems. Problem occurs in all 3 drive modes. Problem became very noticeable at approximately 200 miles.car now has 1300 miles.problem has not improved or changed since i purchased the car new in april, 2016.

Hesitation when entering traffic--hair raising experience--there is a 3 to 4 second stop in the in the drive train--the control of the vehicleis gone-leaving one in a panic mode--alsofeathering the throttle at times there is no response--took suv to dealer--they hooked up a monitor and with the service manager on board--- the vehcle did not respond when accelerating--i am told due to the information sent back through monitoring to the factory that the dealership could not ask for a buy back--my question is how can a co keep making and selling a unit that is defective ?--there are hundreds if not more similar cases on line with the same problems--i will not drive this vehicle on road--life threatening--if the dealership or co. Does not agree to buy back i will be forced to take further action--stand by--class action may be on its way!!!my case is pending--awaiting a response by either dealership or co.hope some one is far minded as to this continuing problem--after all this is the u.s.a

I have a 2017 hyundai santa fe limited ultimate and like many people across the usa the car has hesitation when trying to accelerateat speeds below 20 mph. I had the recall / reflash of the computer done on 08/10/16 and the hesitation in turns is a little less abrupt but still present and intermittent. I never had hesitation when 4th gear down shifted to 3rd gear going straight but i now have it along with hesitation when the car down shifts from 3rd to 2nd. I've called hyundai customer serviceand asked for a buy back and they told me chris from regional will call me back in 3 to 5 business days i've called customer service twice and asked for an update on my case ( case number 9309476) and they just keep telling me regional will call me that was two weeks ago. I have never asked for a buy back on any car and i have been very patient as many people have been across the countrybut at this point i feel i am going to have to contact a lawyer that handles lemon laws to get any results. In addition hyundai has never addressedthe lack of audible warning in the front passengerseat when the occupant does not fasten their safety belt . Good luck to all with same issue.

I have had the car 2.5 months and at least once a day there is a major delay when accelerating from a stop or rolling stop.the car jerks, and does not accelerate for a few seconds.this is very dangerous when turning, getting onto the freeway, changing lanes, etc.i can not afford to have my car not accelerate when i push on the gas!!how is this going to be fixed?i see there have been complaints on this for months!

Failure to accelerate from a stop position. Pulled off the highway onto the off ramp. Came to a stop then tried to turn left. Vehicle barely moved and had to accelerate to over 2500 rpm and several seconds later to get the vehicle barely moving. Pulled off the road, put the vehicle into manual shift mode to find the transmission is locked into 4th gear and cannot be downshifted to 1st. Vehicle continued to be locked into 4th gear after each stop. Turning off the vehicle and restarting temporarily corrects the problem. Potential major safety issue.vehicle now with dealer to resolve

Severe hesitation when coming out of a sharp turn. Also happens upon acceleration after a traffic light.happening more frequently as time goes on currently 13k miles on vehicle.happens almost every driving trip but put todays date on it as it happened last today 8/1/18.

When accelerating at low speeds, the vehicle does not shift properly and poses danger. Took it to a dealer and confirmed that the vehicle does not shift properly. Since it does not throw check engine light, dealer specified that they are not supposed to fix it without any code.this looks really danger.

Car shifts rough, mostly into first gear. As the problem has persisted, it has worsened and also shifts rough in higher gears.

Car hesitates to accelerate from a complete stop, accelerating while coming out of turn,or slowing down and accelerating again.also seems to be using a lot of gas.haven't calculated it yet but can see the fuel gauge lower as i'm driving.car only has 17000 miles.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. After parking the vehicle, the contact was unable to shift the gear out of park. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer and the instrument cluster was replaced. The failure recurred and the vehicle was towed back to the dealer where it was diagnosed that the smart junction box needed to be replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failures and assisted the dealer with the diagnostic. The vehicle was not repaired. The vin was invalid. The failure mileage was unknown.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. While attempting to accelerate, the vehicle stalled without warning. The contact stated that the failure occurred every time the vehicle was driven. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the failure was acknowledged, but there was no remedy. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 3,000.

I have taken my car in 4 or more times because there is a slip in the transmission and the car is not shifting properly. This was bought in 2017 with 150 miles, the first occupancy happened within months. I have been told my engine was sensitive and not to let others drive it, turn off the car, or the dealership has been unable to duplicate the error. I took my car in in november 2020 and after a few weeks in the shop, they were finally able to 'find' the issue. I got my car back with a remanufactured transmission, mid-december. The drive home was okay, but since then the issue occurs more frequently. Coming to a stop, the rpms jump, turning, the rpms jump. I am unable to drive 3/4 mile down the road without my car jerking and jolting. This car is not safe. Several customers have complained of the same issue in the past years and even a lawsuit was brought up, but then was dismissed. My car value has dropped almost 50% because of this issue. I am without a car, still paying for my lease, and insurance on a car that does not serve its proper function.

2017 hyundai sante fe sport awd - purchased in oct 2017. Currently have 7525 miles on vehicle. I noticed acceleration hesitation immediately after making in city turns (from both stationary and in motion turns) as well as when getting on highway (in motion).i am retired and do not drive sante fe very often. The problems with acceleration after making stationary and in motion turns and getting on highway has always been present since day of purchase.i have noticed the problem has become more prevalent after taking a 1000 mile road trip this past august.the acceleration/ hesitation after turning is more noticeable and is becoming concerning because i have to press petal to floor to get the sante fe to accelerate properly to get out of way of on coming traffic.hesitations/acceleration problems occurs after turning and when entering a freeway. Very poor engine performance given the vehicle cost of $35,000. I owned a 2011 hyundai sonta for 6 years and had the same 2.4l engine and i never experienced any engine hesitation like i am now with the 2017 hyundai sante fe sport awd.

This vehicle has a intermittent acceleration problem which causes a delay in the vehicle movement. The dealer stated they cannot duplicate the problem however the issue does exist. Many owners are having the same problem as i read on line.

When doing a low speed turn, anddrive mode switch is in eco mode, way too much lag time before vehicle accelerates.you push accelerator pedal down ,normally, and vehicle does not speed up ,instantly.sometimes,it is a full second before vehicle starts to gain speed.that is dangerous when vehicles are approaching you.i have had the vehicle only three weeks, and this can be extremely dangerous.i traded in a like model vehicle, which was a 2013 year, and it did not have that issue in eco mode.this issuemust be fixed.

Intermittently since purchasing the vehicle on 3/28/16, when accelerating from a stop (eg. Merging into traffic), usually turning to the right or left, the vehicle hesitates for what seems to be more that a couple of seconds.the hesitation is enough to cause panic that oncoming traffic will have to stop abruptly to avoid a collision.on one occasion, the vehicle was pulled off the side of the road to get out of the way of traffic because it would not accelerate fast enough.the condition is very worrisome because you never know when it will occur, we can't seem to make it happen on command.the 3.3l v6 is vey peppy when everything is working right, but you lose confidence in it when these hesitation events occur.additionally, we have noticed that the vehicle has a hard time selecting a gear when downshifting while moving at around 30-40 mph.what happens is the transmission seems to stay in a "float" condition for an extended period of time and finally will select the gear and accelerate.don't know if the two conditions are related, but both are scary when acceleration doesn't happen when you press the accelerator pedal.the date of when this happened is for the most recent.

I have the 2017 sport 2.0t model, and i am experiencing the same powertrain issue.when driving at slow speeds, there is a 3-4 second delay if power is needed suddenly.the powertrain just goes to sleep and nothing happens, followed by a sudden, dangerous lurch.the significant delay between the time the power is needed and the time the power is delivered, makes this car undrivable and highly dangerous.i'm not sure if it is a transmission problem ( slow to downshift), a software issue, or a turbo delay, likely all three combined. The result is that the car's performance is unacceptable, and highly dangerous.this problem occurs daily.this is my third hyundai and my final one.never have i experienced so much regret at buying a car; i want my money back.if hyundai does nothing to rectify this issue (i'm not sure what they can do, as this seems to be a result of shoddy engineering) i will just sell my car just to get rid of this dangerous vehicle and eat the loss.my life and that of my family are far more important.

I am experience a hesitation in the acceleration from either a dead stop or a rolling stop.when the accelerator is pushed, there is a 1-2 second delay in power.the engine appears to cut out and then it kicks in and takes off.the first happened with 50 miles on the car and has happened over two dozen times over the next 3700 miles.not only is it very annoying, but has been dangerous when trying to enter a lane to get up to speed with traffic.

Santa fe will stall from a stop when making a turn also will stall at a slow speed when you try to give it gas the date i put on this form is the last time it happened. This problem has happened before.

Transmission not down shifting when re throttling out of corners as in turning and when trying to cross traffic, you slow down than hit the gas and it feels like it's in a high gear ,you slowly creeps out into on coming traffic waiting for the down shift to put you into 1 st gear so you won't be killed by on coming flow, very dangerous, vehicle one week old

The transsmision fails to shift down upon coming to a rolling stop, such as when coming to a stop at a red light, then the light goes green and you accelerate, or turning in an intersection after coming to a near stop, or after traffic slows and you come to a near stop behind a car, then traffic begins to move and you accelerate out of the slow down. Upon acceleration, the car initially does not respond, then immediately following the hesitation, lurches forward as the transmission finally shifts to a lower gear.this usually occurs at speeds under 10mph.the situation is dangerous as the hesitation is not only abrupt, but leaves you hanging precariously, momentarily dead in the water when acceleration is needed in traffic.this problem has been reported to the manufacturer.the manufacturer feels it is a software glitch.the frequency of the problem is increasing, and may eventually lead to an accident.the vehicle performs well otherwise.

Transmission hesitates badly for about 1-2 seconds before going into gear to move car after coming to complete/rolling stop or in slow turns.transmission does this only intermittently.this can be dangerous for merging into traffic on highway or streets due to fact that car will not respond immediately to driver acceleration input.this is an ongoing problem since we bought the car brand new 3 weeks ago.

Purchased new on april 17th of this year.vehicle continually has a problem accelerating from low speed....roughly between 2 and 10 miles an hour.if you slow down but do not come to a complete stop the vehicle will have a long pause then lurch into correct gear.renders car nearly undriveable at low "parking lot" type speeds.dealer states that without a check engine light there is no problem.clearly there is some sort of problem as every complaint i see is regarding this exact same issue.hyundai needs to fix this or i will terminate my lease and seek reimbursement for moneyspent on this vehicle.

When i drive going straight at about 40 to 48 mph on eco mode or any drive mode the car jumps/ jerks like it shifts into a low gear and then goes back into a high gear with no heavy acceleration. If i have it on cruise control at 45mph it will kick back and forth occasionally as if i was slamming on the gas pedal then slightly on the break but quickly.

I have a 2017 hyundaisante fe limited ultimate andwhen a passenger sits in the frontpassenger seat and does not have there seat belt fastened no audible warning sound alarms telling them to fasten there seat belt. I have gone to a hyundai dealership and the mechanic told me that the audible alarm only goes off if the driver doesn'thave their seat belt fastened. This does not seem right to me they also told me that their is no recallon my vehicle for this problem. I called hyundai customer service( 800 633-5151) and they toldme the same thing that their is no recall on my vehicle for this problem. Although i did read on the nhtsa website that their was a recall for this problem. I'm getting very frustrated with hyundai.

I previously put in a complaint about the front passenger seat on my 2017 sante fe. When someone sits in the front passenger seatand does not put there seat belt on no audible warning sound warns them to buckle the seat belt. I see that hyundai has a fix for the drivers seat audible warning(06-01-013) but no fix for the passenger seat. Hyundai could you please come up fix for the passenger side.

On my 2017 hyundai santa fe limited, he audible seat belt alarm does not sound if the person in the front passenger seat is not wearing his/her seat belt. There was a recall for this very problem on the 2017 hyundai santa fe sport (#141), but not for the full sized santa fe (which i have). When i called hyundai they told me that i would have to pay for the repairs!

Passenger seatbelt has loop sewn into strap.appears to be compromised. Dealer could not say why the loop was there. Hyundai manufacturer won't get back to us.

The passenger seat belt warning chime is inoperable.only the dashboard light operates.this occurs when the vehicle is moving with a passenger on board who has not buckled up with the seat belt.

1. Steering= sticking steering and problems keeping car straight. Driving 2. No warning chime front passenger seat. When driving

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the driver's seat made an abnormal squeaking sound. The seat leaned towards the console and squeaked nonstop while driving. In addition, the rear windshield wiper detached from the vehicle. There were no warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to napleton hyundai (649 dunn rd, hazelwood, mo 63042, (314) 548-0956) where it was diagnosed that the vehicle's computer needed to be updated. The vehicle was not repaired; however, an appointment was made to service the vehicle. The manufacturer was not notified. The failure mileage was 2,747.

The driver seat makes squeaking noises all the time. I cant move in my seat without these loud and annoying squeaking noises coming from the back of the seat

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. Every time the brake pedal was depressed in the morning, the vehicle jerked independently without warning. The vehicle was taken to a dealer, but the cause of the failure could not be diagnosed. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 10,100.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. When the contact depressed the brake pedal, the vehicle accelerated aggressively. The contact continued to depress the brake pedal multiple times for the vehicle to stop. The vehicle was taken to a dealer where it was diagnosed, but the cause of the failure could not be found. The manufacturer was notified. The approximate failure mileage was 4,000. The vin was not available.

This complaint has to do with the aeb ( automatic emergency braking ) system.this was a feature that led me to purchase the car and i discussed it with the salesman at length at the time i purchased it.shortly after purchasing the car, i started trying to test it to see if and how it worked.i could get no indication it was working without wrecking it.there is supposed to be 3 warning stages according to the manual ( 1 a message on lcd with warning alarms, 2 a 2nd collision warning message and limited control of the brakes,3 emergency braking ).i never saw any of these.i took it back to the dealer along with a video in which i tested it running over party balloons.they said it was working as designed.i wrote hyundai america and they suggested i take to another dealer which i did and they said the same thing.no one cares or is interested in seeing that the system works.i have attached a couple of still photos i took from my video showing just before and after the collision with the balloons.i have several videos, i could send if interested.thank you

Smart cruise control fails to brake intermittently. It is designed to match speed with the car in front of it. It usually works fine, unless another vehicle cuts in front, even if there is enough time to brake. I have to slam on the brakes manually to avoid an accident. This has happened on multiple occasions. I now fear using the cruise control at all, as it does not perform correctly 100% of the time. The dealer said they could find nothing wrong, but this is a very real issue that puts my family at risk. They have now called in a master tech from hyundai to look at it, but i wanted to document this issue.i noticed it first within two weeks of purchase. Hyundai support closed my case several times without action. I bought it 5 months ago. Current mileage is 3462, so it is well within warranty.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. Within a day of the contact owning the vehicle, a passerby alerted the contact to the fact that the rear wheels were wobbling and shaking abnormally. The dealer (davis hyundai, 1655 n olden ave, trenton, nj 08638, 609-871-2800) stated that the rotors needed to be replaced and the driving condition would return to normal within a week. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer, but the failure continued. The contact was uncertain if the dealer provided a correct diagnosis to repair the vehicle. The contact continued to be informed by other drivers on the road that the vehicle's rear suspension was unstable. The same dealer further stated that the tires needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not inspected before it was sold to the contact. The dealer advised the contact to take the vehicle to an inspection facility to determine if the tires needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 20,000.

1. Steering= sticking steering and problems keeping car straight. Driving 2. No warning chime front passenger seat. When driving

After driving for about 15 or 20 minutes the steering wheel seems to stick requiring me to exert extra force to "break" it loose in order to keep the car traveling in a straight line. Back and forth i go continuously having to overcorrect for the sticking/notchy steering. Very annoying and tiring and could be a safety hazard under the right conditions. Found one other owner on this site who is having the exact same problem. There is definitely something wrong with the steering mechanism. I hope to get it to the dealership soon but don't hold out much hope that they'll be of much help.please let hyundai know that there is a problem here and i'm thinking most owners may just be ignoring it and choosing to live with it. I notice this mostly while driving incity traffic.i have owned this vehicle for over a year and only started experiencing the steering issue about 6 or7 months ago.

After about 30 minutes of driving at or near highway speeds the steering becomes "sticky" and requires the driver "break" the "stuck" steering wheel and it results in a forced overcorrection that makes the vehicle drift from one side of the lane to the other. This is continuous problem once it begins as constant steering input is required to keep a vehicle in a straight line. At a minimum, it is annoying and exhausting on long trips.the real issue is safety. The forced overcorrection is a serious safety issue on narrow country roads as it will force the vehicle into the oncoming traffic lane or close to the ditch on the right side of the road. The dealer cannot recreate the problem when i take it in because the problem only emerges after about 30 minutes of highway driving. This is a serious safety issue and hyundai needs to address it.

Currently 42k miles, "sticky steering wheel" or "zig-zag" problem started about 10k miles ago. Dealer service techs i've dealt with seem to have never heard of this problem.after verifying that my daughter was really experiencing the zig-zag problem, i lifted the front of her car so that both front wheels were off the ground. With the engine not running, slowly turning the steering wheel right and left would reveal the "sticky" symptom, which is actually at some point the steering wheel hangs for some reason and then it takes increasingly more torque applied to the steering wheel until it breaks free. If this had occurred driving down the road, the result would be a sudden change of direction. This behavior in the steering system should never occur, but should be silky smooth lock to lock. The attached image shows the system from the steering wheel to the bottom of the connecting shaft. I have read reports that the u-joints in the connecting shaft are the problem, or that the mdps (motor driven power steering) unit is the source of the problem.if i were working this problem, i would disconnect the upper u-joint and rerun the steering wheel test. If the hanging problem was still there, then the mdps unit (or perhaps the star shaped coupling within the mdps) should be replaced. Otherwise, the coupling shaft should be inspected for binding of the u-joints. If the joints are sticking, then a replacement shaft is in order. If neither the mdps unit nor coupling shaft are at fault, then the root of the problem must be somewhere below the connecting shaft.this is a serious safety issue that many owners have complained about, and hyundai does not seem to have any desire to acknowledge or to even address the problem.i am a former ase l1 master automotive technician.

Notchy steering, feels like the steering wheel sticks, requiring you to use additional force to turn the wheel.this causes over-correcting with the potential to swerving into other lanes or off the road.

I have had 2 incidents now where the steering wheel locks up when i've made a left hand turn. The light showing a vehicle on a hill pops on and off when this happens. It is really scary

Sticky steering wheel when traveling on straight roadways and highways above 40 mph. I noticed a slight stick to the steering wheel while traveling on the freeway or on a straight road above 40 mph. This problem started at 15,000 miles. The steering wheel tends to stick when trying to track straight which causes me to consistently swerve while trying to correct. We took it to the dealership where they were able to identify the issue as a bad mdps unit (steering column shaft assembly) part#56310-2w840. While at the shop, i decided to do some research on my own and found that this unit has been identified in other makes and models as a bad unit due to a rubber coupler inside the mdps and hyundai has extended the warranty on these parts. I believe that there should be an extended warranty on this part beyond the factory warranty for the 2017 hyundai santa fe. We have owned this car for 1 year 11 mos and it currently has 16261 miles.notes from dealership tech: " the steering was sticking. The column was at fault internal failure. I was unable to isolate what part of the motor driven steering unit was the root cuase of the sticking. All parts tested good but i still had the issue. I performed a steering wheel calibration and reset the steering feel zero. I redrove the car and noted after driving on a straight level road and 40-60 mph speeds that when i moved the steering left or right that there was a noticable sticking. Before the steering felt like it had assist. I replaced the mdps complete unit reset the tow variant coded and drove the car again"

Upon entering freeway on ramp 5 7 2017 veered to the right to avoid being hit by another car which cut me off.after moving back into lane, the steering wheel started shaking in a violent manner.i continued to hold on to the steering wheel which was shaking left and right in a very forceful manner.the shaking stopped and i continued driving.the traffic was light, road conditions perfect and my driving speed was 60 mph.this car only has 1079 miles and i have never experienced this in any other car. I have an appointment with dealer on 5 12 2017 and have contacted hyundai motor company to advise them of this very dangerous event.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that on several occasions while driving at highway speeds, the steering wheel became unresponsive. While attempting to correct the failure, the vehicle would over steer. There was no warning light illuminated. The vehicle was taken to bob bell ford located at (7125 ritchie hwy, glen burnie, md 21061) and was diagnosed but the technician was unable to retrieve a fault code. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 10,000.

While going down the interstate, the steering became very difficult to control. It was if the power steering had disappeared. Very scary. Unfortunately, this is an ongoing issue. Since that time it has happened repeatedly. Went to the dealership in savannah georgia, they were not very responsive. Going to make an appointment to have this fixed. A google search indicated there are others this happened to as well.

While driving (vehicle in motion) the steering wheel seems to stick requiring me to exert extra force to "break" it loose in order to keep the car traveling in a straight line. I know it isn't mechanical stearing like i'm used to but the servo motor seems to prevent me from turning the wheel when i need to correct. I continuously have to overcorrect for the sticking/notchy steering. Very annoying and tiring and could be a safety hazard under the right conditions. Found several other owners on this site who is having the exact same problem. I totally agree that there is definitely something wrong with this electronic drive-by-wire steering mechanism. Like others have said, please let hyundai know that there is a problem here. I notice this mostly while driving in city traffic. I have owned this vehicle for over two years and i'm experiencing the steering issue more and more now. If most drivers are not truly paying attention to there driving and this sticking this will lead to crashes and deaths.

While driving highway speed, steering wheel feels like it gets stuck while trying to maintain steering. As you turn the steering wheel left to right and right to left trying to maintain lane it feels like the steering wheel catches each time you slightly turn the steering wheel and causes you to over correct making it difficult to maintain lane. Feel it is a safety issue, especially at highway speeds.there have been times where i overcorrected and the car veered out of its lane.vehicle has been taken to dealer twice so far and they say they can't recreate the situation, even though i drove the car with service person in it and the "sticking" occurred while i drove it.

Steering wheel began to get hard like sticky when turn it over right or left, needing more power to drive the vehicle and putting me in risk when reach 60 miles per hour

When driving, and not all the time i have to fight the car to keep driving straight. On highways when it happens, the car is all over the road. Brought to dealership, they had the car for a week, and could not find the problem or fix. Did not start till i had the car for over a year. Car has 20,000 miles on it.

While driving on the highway at speeds over 50 mph, the vehicle drifts to the left and right.i have to over correct the steering and force the vehicle to stay straight.the dealer performed an alignment.however; it did not correct the issue.i'm afraid for our safety.

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. While driving various speeds, the contact heard a loud rattling, abnormal noise coming from the steering wheel. The vehicle was taken to roger beasley hyundai (24795 i-35, kyle, tx 78640, (512) 262-2020) where it was diagnosed that the steering wheel assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 70,000.

Thank you.

Sunroof exploded driving at speed limit on freeway, dry, clear,no snow,no vehicles near, esp in front of vehicle.loud bang, thought tire blew out, pulled over, saw roof glass broken.wind screen was forward,so no glass particles rained down, but this is safety hazard as l often drive my children & grandchildren in this vehicle.

Knocking noise underneath the front passenger side while driving.

The v6 2017 santa fe suv is advertised in many car magazines and by hyundai to tow 5,000. Lbs. I told the sales manager the specs of my camper. He said it would not have a problem towing my camper that weighs 3,200. I said if you get it prepared for towing, meaning, hitch, brake box and wire for lights, i will buy it. The deal was made. I towed a few times then had a bad shaking in the rear. The service manager tried to tell me i was towing too much weight. Impossible. It's just me and a small dog. I argued with allen turner hyundai in pensacola, fl and the corporate office. They believed what the dealership said. I told them i can go weigh it all on dot scales to prove it. So they ended up fixing it that time.i didn't tow for awhile because of covid. The first time i did, on the way home it started shaking. I go to the dealer. He told me the right rear passenger tire was separating inside. It would need alignment and struts. They were not going to pay for it even with the car with low miles still under warranty. They offered me something off their used lot. Which i considered if it had the safety features that i originally bought on my santa fe. No, theyoffered a basic small truck.i'm older and i have gotten used to the safety features. The salesman talked down to me, tried to intimidate me and practically called me stupid. I was supposed to see the servicemanager but he dismissed me . I've bought three cars from this dealer using the same salesman. Then when i have a problem they treat me like this. I have testimonies from other camper trailer haulers with the same car that eventow a higher weight camper.they have not had any problems. I will attach photos of theirs also. Thank you [xxx]when i'm towing it all sounds good and works good. I wouldn't know the camper was back there.information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u.s.c. 552(b)(6).

The contact owns a 2017 hyundai santa fe. The contact stated that the vehicle lost acceleration while making a left turn. The contact continually depressed the accelerator pedal, but the vehicle would not accelerate forward. In addition, the traction control indicator illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer weremade aware of the failure. Dealer made software update on 4/2/2018 and contact has had no issues since. The failure mileage was 1,100.

While in motion the vehicle either brakes or backfires. The jerking motion is so hard that i thought i was hit by another car.the car continues to drive but acceleration rate slows drastically causing near misses as well. The traction control and downhill shifting lights come onand stay on until you turn the engine off and back on.so far this has happened four times in both normal and economy drive modes while traveling on the interstate/highway at speeds between 50 and 70 mph.

While driving westbound on i-80 on sunday, june 2, 2019, at 2:33 pm the front portion of the panoramic sunroof exploded with the sound of a 12 gauge shotgun. The glass went flying and came into the vehicle. No prior damage to the sun roof and the air temperature was 64 degrees. We were traveling at 65 mph.

My vehicle was in park on a flat surface. I reached in and turned the engine off the car began rolling backwards . I was dragged backwards down the driveway. The car stopped when it hit the neighbors curb.i got in the car was off and in park.i then drove car into garage and placed in park. I didi sustain a sever ankle sprain and was treated at a hospital.the car had 1900 miles on it and was a new car lease. The dealer inspected the car on monday december 5 and found nothing. I contacted the national customer service center . They sent a third party to inspect car and on february 3,2017. I recieved an email. It stated that the transmission, gear shifter and brakes are normalit noted that in this car the driver always must place the emergency brake on every time it is placed in park. The salesman did not convey this, nor ii is listed on the information checklist to review before customer takes car. Also when i test drove this vehicle it did not have the emergency brake on. Also. When test driving the car i commented that the brakes seemed strange. The salesman told me to stop and we returned to dealer.he informed me that raccoons on the property were eating through brake lines on several cars. I was told they would be repaired before i took possession four days later. I am scared to drive this car. I asked to be let out of the lease but that was denied.

Apple carplay completely disables all of the vehicle's native audio warnings and alerts when it is in use. In other words, if one is listening to music, using siri, or making a phone call through carplay, none of the car's built-in safety features work as designed; the audio is silenced and carplay completely takes over the audio system. This would include blind spot monitoring, lane departure monitoring, forward collision avoidance, cross-traffic alert, etc.. This only happens with carplay in use; if hyundai's native software is controlling the system and the phone is only connected through bluetooth, the systems function normally. Hyundai makes no reference to this in their manuals and seems to be unaware of the problem. Apple does not provide any product support for carplay whatsoever.this is a case of a nonessential entertainment system interfering with safety systems. Hyundai and apple should be made to correct this, or at least make consumers aware of it.

The panoramic sun roof exploded while the car was parkerd and engine runningthe tempature was 77 degrees.after some internet follow up it seems this is the #1 problem in canada and there has been and on going class action lawsuit in the usa for the past 5 years.both the dealership and huyndai knew of the problem and it was fix under warranty, 1year old with 9000 miles.had this happened a freeway speed we probally would have been killed along with others.they are replacing the glass roofs with the same glass roofs with no fixes donehyundai and sister company kia have know of this problem since before the class action suit started in 2012 and have send bullittens to dealerships but no recalls this is a major saftey issue and needs to be investigated and not just covered up by the car companys.i have aprox 100 photos and can not down load to your site for some reason currently i can try later or maybe if you have a email or something i can do that too, let me know.this happened november11, 2017 the car was bought in the usakept in the usaby usa citizens

I am having to get an oil consumption every 1000 miles which has me concerned.

It tries to stall or hesitate when making turns i live in chicago and drive in traffic when turning into traffic it seems to hesitate for 2 or 3 sec before acceleration ii am afraid to drive this vehicle in traffic from fear when making a turn i will. Cause a car accident

While travelling home from work experienced an awful shotgun sound from the vehicle's sunroof, immediately pulled over and discover that thepanoramic sunroof had exploded.

Oil is vanishing from the vehicle. For every 1000 miles there is a pint of oil missing from the vehicle. This has been reported to the hyundai mutiple times. Hyundai can not find any issue with the vehicle. This is concering becuase the vehicle can break down on a long road trip without consant oil checks and refilling during the trip. Hyundai has yet to replace the motor or resolve the issue. No oil leak located it appears the oil is just going missing while the vehicle is in motion.

I was pulling onto the highway and coming up to speed, going approximately 50 miles per hour, when i heard a loud noise, like a 'crack' or a 'boom.'it quickly became clear that my glass sunroof had burst and there were glass pieces raining down on the sun screen, which thankfully had been closed. No injuries were sustained.

Over one month ago, my gps viewer showed a wrong time.i reset the clock and exited the feature.the clock quit appearing on the screen.at first i didn't notice it.then when i did, i wasn't able to enter the program to set the clock:it was all dark on the choices.i read both my manuals and nothing in them talked about this problem.i had several friends read the manual and they couldn't find any information to fix this either.when i went for an oil change, i found out that this issue was affecting lots of vehicles and they said there was a couple of things they could do to attempt to fix it.sometimes it worked and sometimes it didn't.mine didn't.no one contacted me to alert me to the problem (said maybe a cell tower issue when i was at the dealers).i have to access my fitbit to get the time which requires squeezing the sides of it and sometimes scrolling it.not suppose to use your cell phone for safety, but messing with my fitbit under my jacket is just as bad.why weren't we notified.google shows people have been complaining about this problem for some time now.i'm a senior citizen and may not be using correct terms for the gps stuff. It is a safety issue when your eyes aren't on the road as they should be and messing with your fitbit.yes i can invest in a watch again, but why should i have to do this?doesn't matter if i am driving or stationary, it doesn't work!!!!!

My brand new 2017 santa fe limited hesitates badly when coming out of turns at a slow speed and attempting to accelerate...just short of coming to a stop. It also occurs when vehicle is at a stop then i step on the accelerator.it is a safety issue as the vehicle lags when attempting to enter traffic or the vehicle could be hit from behind when attempting to accelerate and it momentarily does not respond.this occurs each time i drive it.

Location: apartment complex , driveway this morning i went to drop off my son at my parents place and when i made a u turn to turn around, the car accelerated on itā€™s own, i stepped on the brakes and it was too late, i hit the neighbors car on the corner and my right tire was on top of the sidewalk. Keep in mind the speed limit in the apartment complex is 5mph. I was going at 6mph and when the car accelerated it felt like if it was going 20mph! i bought my car last year on august 2020, since then my car has been giving signs of hesitations on the acceleration but never would of thought my car would actually drive off on its own. I have a 1yr old son and after this accident happen i donā€™t feel safe driving my car at all or even trust it at this point, i donā€™t want to be driving and it happens again and it could be worse.

When the car start at the traffic lights and slowly accelerates while driving, there is a sound in the car.i head a sound from the engine or muffler.

As i was driving on the freeway, i heard something that sounded like a bomb go off overhead. I safely pulled over and discovered that my panoramic sunroof had exploded. There were no other vehicles nearby that could have kicked up anything, especially because it was directly overhead. Thankfully i had the interior closed, but if it had been opened myself along with my 4 passengers (three who are young children) would have been covered in glass shards not to mention i could have ran into the wall or something else. Upon investigation, this is a known issue with hyundai sunroofs. I have not yet been able to have anyone inspect it since it is sunday. There were no warnings at all that this was going to happen.

There is a leak on the drivers side of the vehicle coming from unknown defect.every time it rains, water drips from under the dash to the floor close to the frame of the car.

Vehicle hesitates when entering flow of traffic from a stop or a turn.

When driving suddenly the car decelerates making it necessary to mash harder on the gas pedal to get the car to continue moving. The usb port does not charge which results in the phone losing battery life you can only use android and apple car onn that port so when traveling long distances you may be without directions. Its an ongoing issue.

Pulled into parking space in a parking lot very slowly. Vehicle was almost parked.steering wheel was turned to the left. Vehicle suddenly accelerated, continued to rev and would not stop right away with multiple applications of the brake. It rode up onto a cement handicap ramp and its railing at the head of the space .not injured, no airbag deployment, car sustained damage to front and undercarriage. Vehicle had less than 1200 miles on it.no one i told was convinced that i didn't step on the gas and assumed that my foot must have slipped off the brake and onto the gas pedal. I was ready to believe it myself and owned that it must have been completely my fault. After stumbling (and i mean stumbling-wasn't looking for anything like this) acrossreviews and comments that describe exactly what happened to me, i feel vindicated.

Vehicle almost stalled when accelerating from aslow speeds. This happened several times in the past especially when taking turns .dangerous when trying to merge onto traffic lanes .this happened several times and fortunately didn't end up in accident . Happens indrive modes eco, normal ..called dealer and they are not aware of such an issuebut several incidents reported online .

The vehicle from time to time about once a week stalls while accelerating, ithappened so far while doing a left turn on local streets. This is very dangerous and can cause an accident

Purchased new 7/172017 santa fe ultimate 2.0t. This suv does not accelerate and lags on an intermittent basis happens at a lower speed and from a stop. Very dangerous when making aturns and entering freeway or traffic cicles (roundabouts) when depressing accelerator and your vehicle slowly moves forward and fails to accelerate to the required speed you are requesting for a second or more. Now you have placed yourself in a very dangerous position because ofthis vehicles inability to respond. Then all of a sudden it takes off. Does not happen every time but is frequent enough to be concerned. Has happened continually since new. My wife loves the vehicle but is afraid to drive it..no one seems to know what the problem is but there are certainly enough complaints that someone should investigate and get after hyundai to fix the situation before someone god forbid is killed.. Or that's unfortunately what it willtake to resolve this serious defect.i love the vehicle especially the turbo but it's scary.

I no longer own the described vehicle but want to report a safety issue with the vehicle.i had advised hyundai consumer affairs analyst, central/ca raynisha m. And was assigned a case number 10184122.information about the case number can be obtained from hyundai.my problem with the vehicle was related to the speed control system or "fly by wire" mechanism on my vehicle.on several personally documented instances (with road conditions, dates, time speed etc.) i experienced a zero acceleration response from the vehicle when applying accelerator pressure.on many acceleration incidents the acceleration pedal response "fell on its face" and on one occasion nearly resulted in a vehicle collision when i was proceeding into an intersection.i had reported the safety issue to both my hyundai dealership and hyundai consumer affairs.the two mechanical inspections that were performed to identify the problem were incomplete as the vehicle didn't throw off any codes to identify the problem area.i was told by the vehicle mechanics that since the problem was intermittent in nature that i would have no redress on the safety issue.i am a private pilot and fly aircraft utilizing "fly by wire" acceleration devices and i can assure you that my first incident occurrence would have grounded the aircraft experiencing the similar acceleration issue.i am reporting this to you hoping that you can investigate and open a recall inquiry and force hyundai to fix or make changes to vehicles that utilize their "fly by wire" acceleration systems.

While driving our 2017 hyndai santa fe on interstate 64 with the cruise control set at 65 mph the transmission will down shift to 5th and then 4th and then 3rd gear with the rpm almost red lining. This is while going down a slight downgrade. I've been having to use the manual mode to shift back up to 6th gear. We contacted the local hyundai dealer who stated they were aware of the problem but did not have a solution to the problem at this time. I am worried about the safety of this vehicle with this problem.

With exceleration into oncoming traffic has about a 2-3 second pause and also when passing. Has almost caused me several t bone accidents. When taking out from somewhere the vehicle has set and cooled it takes about 5 seconds to reach appropriate speed. This does not occur all times like the above complaint. Outside noise is extremely loud. Not a quiet driving car by all means. Air noise around doors etc

The driver seat makes squeaking noises all the time. I cant move in my seat without these loud and annoying squeaking noises coming from the back of the seat

When depressing the accelerator at speeds less than about 10mph, the vehicle has a very significant hesitation - about 2 seconds when the vehicle is completely non-responsive. Happens every time at low speed turns, and is dangerous with vehicles behind.

Vehicle does not respond to acceleration. Engine makes a roaring sound, however the rpms have minimal increase. This hesitation happens when passing, and when coming out of a turn or from a stop. This leaves the vehicle stuck out in traffic with no acceleration.this used to happen about once a week, however the frequency of the incidents has increased greatly and we no longer feel the vehicle is safe to drive. This morning the car would not accelerate for an entire hour during a commute to work.i have read many reports on your site with the same issue, and apparently hyundai does not have a fix. We are bringing the car into the dealer this afternoon.

The car appears to hesitate upon acceleration from a low speed, most noticeably coming out of turns. The hesitation is random and jerks the car forward and back. I took in for service and they say no fix is available. Dealer said it was not a safety issue but a satisfaction issue. That is a false statement, as it is indeed a huge safety issue. Others have indicated a similar problem as well in the santa fe online forums (http://www.santafeforums.com/acceleration-issues-t10953.html?s=8588ca5231adda19bda5c53064ae9cc8&t=10953)

The digital speedometer disappeared and the software functionality to enable it also disappeared while driving on a street.

I had my car for 12 months i bought bran new. It has staled and turn off on meat least 5 times. This is a safety issue especially on the freeway the car loses power and stops.than before it stops makes a knocking noise.

It tries to stall or hesitate when making turns i live in chicago and drive in traffic when turning into traffic it seems to hesitate for 2 or 3 sec before acceleration ii am afraid to drive this vehicle in traffic from fear when making a turn i will. Cause a car accident

I own a hyundai 2017 santa fe. I, my husband, and my daughter are experiencing (from the time of purchase & reported to the hyundai dealer) a serious & dangerous lag with acceleration. This has happened numerous times, the car hesitates badly when coming out of turns and attempting to accelerate...just short of coming to a stop. It is very dangerous when pulling into traffic and appears to be getting more frequent. I have found several forums reporting the same issues.will hyundai fix this issue?

2017 santa fe ultimate 2.0t. Car does not accelerate and lags.happens at a lower speed and from a stop.very scary when making a left turn and entering freeway.depressing accelerator and nothing happens for a second or more, then all of a sudden it takes off.at low speed in parking lot depress accelerator lightly and car takes off.when accelerating from astop car will accelerate quickly while depressing pedal gently. Does not happen every time but is frequent enough to be concerned.has happened since new.

When making right turns, my car suddenly stops accelerating for a few seconds.this usually happens when either the car is stopped and then i go to turn, or turning at a very low rate of speed around a corner.when i push down on the gas pedal to go, it takes off abruptly or with a surge. This is concerning, especially if a car is following behind me.i also notice it when stopped at a light, going straight also but not nearly as much as when i am making a turn.

The contact owned a 2017 hyundai santa fe. While the contact's husband was making a left turn at 10 mph, the vehicle failed to gain speed while the accelerator pedal was depressed. Another vehicle traveling from the opposite direction struck the front passenger side of the contact's vehicle. All of the air bags deployed. A police report was filed and the driver received a citation for failing to yield. The driver sustained a broken left wrist, cuts to the left hand, and bruises to the upper body/torso. The contact (passenger) sustained a broken neck that required surgery due to internal bleeding, severe bruising from the chest down to the lower torso, and bruising on the right and left arms. Medical attention was received. The contact had surgery to her right hip to remove a bone to place in her neck. The vehicle was towed to a local dealer (a1 wrecker 1601 partin dr n d, niceville, florida 32578). Three weeks prior to the crash, the vehicle hesitated to accelerate when the accelerator pedal was depressed. The failure occurred without warning. The contact stated that the vehicle gradually accelerated independently. Neither the manufacturer nor the dealer were made aware of the failure. The vehicle was deemed destroyed. The failure mileage was 147.updated 07/18/17*lj

We were driving on a highway at normal highway speeds around 10:15pm.there was some light rain and some lightning in the area. Out of nowhere our panoramic sunroof on our 2017 hyundai santa fe just exploded.there were no cars/trucks in front of us that kicked up any debris that could have caused this. It just shattered and the sound was deafening, it sounded like an explosion and for a quick second i thought we were getting shot at until i observed that no other glass in the car was broken so at that point i knew it was the panoramic sunroof.
